"Oh, you two are just the cutest couple in here." the older waitress with the retro yellow diner dress and apron with a name tag that read Judy, fawned over you and Eddie. However, you were quick to correct her.

"Oh no, no, just best friends," you lightheartedly giggle.

This stung Eddie. Friends. Best Friends. Two decades worth of friendship, and it haunts Eddie. That is all you'll ever be... Best Friends.

Not once had you shown an ounce of interest in being anything more, but Eddie, on the other hand, fell in love with you in stages throughout his life.

When you were three years old, you moved to the trailer park where Eddie and his family lived. Being the only two kids, you were immediately drawn to one another. Eddie remembers that summer, the scorching summer sun beat down mercilessly on the trailer park as you both ran around in your underwear, laughing and shrieking, under the cool spray of the garden hose.

When you were both five, you had a "wedding" and promised one another vows. Eddie always remembered his promise to be your best friend and to always be your best friend. He told you he loved you, and you told him you loved him and sealed it with a small kiss and a slew of giggles. Your parents gushed about how adorable it was and how they couldn't wait for the real thing. Too bad Eddie's parents never would make it to the real thing.

As you both got a little older, around ten years old, you huddled together in your sleeping bags, whispering secrets and sharing stories that only best friends could tell. The sound of your laughter would fill the air, mingling with the chirping of the crickets and the rustling of the leaves. Your makeshift tent made out of bed sheets and sticks would only last so long as a barrier before you got scared of bats and earwigs, but Eddie promised to never let anything hurt you. He held your hand until you fell asleep.

When you and Eddie were twelve, and he struggled with his parents, you lent him your unwavering support and helped him weather the storm. You were his rock, his confidant, his best friend.

Eddie's world had begun to feel unfamiliar and uncertain during that period. Puberty had started to alter his body and yours, for that matter. Eddie saw the changes happening within you and within himself... He noticed how you got more attention from boys as your chest started blossoming and how he also longed for that attention. An ugly feeling would bloom in Eddie's gut and he hated it when the boys would stare at you or talk to you.

But you would never stray too far. Even with your first boyfriend, Eddie didn't understand why he hated the guy so much. He was a nice boy and never picked on Eddie like the others, but for the life of him, Eddie hated his guts. Especially when he would watch him hold your hand or kiss you on the cheek. He wanted that with you, but he also wanted to be you? He was so confused. He, too, wanted to hold your boyfriend’s hand and have him kiss him on the cheek, and that scared him.

Both your emotions lead to changes in the dynamics of your friendship, such as sleepovers. Previously, a fun and carefree activity had become different since it was now mandatory to sleep in separate rooms, a rule both your parents and Eddie's Uncle Wayne agreed upon. Yet, through the difficult times of teenage angst, you both powered through and came out stronger than ever.

When all the shit happened with the upsidedown a little over two years ago, you were at his bedside every day until the visiting hours were over, and the hospital had to physically kick you out; you would be back the second they started up again the next day. That was the last straw for Eddie. He could no longer deny his feelings for you anymore. He was in love with his best friend.

"Oh well, that's too bad; if you ever change your mind, invite me to the wedding, okay?" She smiles and takes your orders to the kitchen.

When the waitress left, Eddie saw his window of opportunity.

"Hey, uh, what if I took you out?" Eddie fiddles with the paper straw wrapper.

"We are out, Stupid." You laugh.

"No, no, I mean, can I take you for a drink?" Eddie was never this anxious around you, and you noticed. Like something in the air had shifted.

"Like a drink?" you raise your brows.

"Uh... yeah." You had never seen Eddie so nervous with you before. Where was this coming from?

"Oh God, I'll have to think... We're friends, Eddie, I don't know? It-it doesn't feel right." This had caught you so off guard.

"It's cool... no, yeah,- I-I was just messin'," he waves off, and your heart alleviates.

"God Eddie! You really had me there." you laugh and Eddie's heart sinks, and you can see him slouch back into the booth. His body language completely shifted.

Fuck, how he hated this; you were the only one who ever made him feel right. You were it for him.

No matter how hard he tried, his mind would always wander back to the same vision of a future with you. He saw the two of you building a beautiful life together in his dreams. He imagined the joy of raising children with you, cooking together in the kitchen, and sharing parenting responsibilities. He could picture himself changing their diapers while you watched with a warm smile.

Visions of you going to the Winter Fair, which was not the most exciting event; he envisioned you, him and your hypothetical child going there every year, enjoying the festivities and watching the colourful lights glow in your eyes. These thoughts filled him with happiness, and he couldn't wait for them to become a reality.

Unfortunately, you have shot down any possibility of being more than friends with Eddie, not to hurt him but because you only see him as a friend. Never once had it ever crossed your mind to see Eddie as anything more. Honestly, you questioned his sexuality over the years.

One memory, in particular, flashed in your brain as you pondered on the possibility of Eddie being serious or just taking the piss?

"Eddie, what are you doing?" You walked into your bedroom to see Eddie standing in the middle of your room, facing your full-length mirror.

"Oh, me? I liked your dress and wanted to see what it would look like on me? Kinda badass, no? Some may even say... metal?"

You can't help but laugh.

“Ed’s, you can’t even do it up; you’re going to rip it!”

“You’re being a hater… Imagine! Me on stage shredding to Ozzy in this?" He gestures to your floral church dress, which he’s paired with his black Converse all-stars. He’s always been flamboyant.

You can't help but roll your eyes. Your mom just bought you this dress.

“What, Sunshine?” He smirks.

“Ed’s, are you?-Is there something you want to tell me?” You bite your lip, not wanting him to freak out.

“You know me, sunshine! I’m just me,” he twirled and showed off his boxers.

“Okay, but if you ever wanna tell me anything, I’ll be here for you.”

“I know.” He smiled.

Sometimes, you wondered about Eddie... He never fully came out to you, and you never pressured him to do so because you loved him regardless. You wouldn’t ever have a chance with him; he’s your platonic soul mate. Sure, he’s handsome if you like that bad boy-leather-metalhead thing, but who’s to say you were even his type? You were a girl.

When Eddie asked you out just now, you had no idea how to take it? He’s him, and you are you… you’ve been attached at the hip forever, but never did you think you’d cross the threshold? Did he want to cross it? Did you want to cross it?

He was so nervous as he asked you. His hands wouldn’t stop fiddling, and he fumbled his words. His breath got all gaspy, like when he was trying to brush off something that bothered him. Maybe he was being serious?

“Ed’s?”

“Yea?” You saw a glimmer of hope behind his eyes.

“Don’t you like… boys? I’ve never seen you-“

“It’s okay- lots of people think I’m gay, but it’s cool, right? We’re friends! Why would it not be?”

“No, no, of course, but you’ve-you’ve never been with a girl or at least that I know of? So I never thought… Really? Me and you? Together?”

“No, you wouldn’t have thought.” He bit back bitterly. “I know, I’m queer; you know I’ve always been different.”

“Ed’s, I’m sorry I just- I never thought of you like that because I’m a girl…”

“Ask me, Sunshine.”

“Ask you what?”

“You know.”

“Do you like girls?” You spit out.

“No, sunshine, I like you.”

“But you-"

“I know how I am!” He raised his voice. He never raised his voice. Not at you. “I don’t like conformity and social norms, and sure, I like men, and sure, I like to dress up in your clothes and like to put on your makeup, but fuck, I especially like it because that stuff belongs to you, I do it because I love you.” There he said it, finally he felt like the 100lb weight had been lifted off of his chest.

“Ed’s-“

“No! I love you, and I do it because I like it and to be close to you because you’re my whole world, sunshine, and if I can’t have you, I don’t know what I will do.” He reached out for your hand across the table, and you let him take it. Your fingers intertwine.

It was quiet for a moment. You needed to process. Things between you won’t be the same after this.

“Talk to me, Sunshine?”

“I just never thought this was an option between us, Eddie. I need time.

“I’ll wait for you; I’ve waited this long.”

You only stay in silence for a moment before Judy comes back around.

“Okay, kiddos, 2 burgers and fries, enjoy.” The waitress smiles and places your meal in front of you.

“Excuse me, Judy?” you call out.

“Yes, darling?” She turns back with a smile

“Can we see the drink menu?” You chide

“Coming right up”

Every time I think about Mnemosurgery I'm reminded of just how much I hate how the Autobots seemed to flagrantly disregard consent with it. Optimus Prime Himself seemed to be pretty on board with it. Like, I get including it and Shadowplay as a very obvious showcase of how Awful Cybertronian Society before the war was, but god does having it rear its ugly head during the modern day feel just plain off. (And this is coming from someone who LIKES a bit of mindfuckery in their fiction)

Part 3

Bill and I have been at the park for around about an hour laughing and telling each other stories when I get a call from my mam, telling me that I need to head home. I don't really want to go as Bill and I are having a great time

" I have to go home. it's getting late, and mam wants me home." I say, looking him in the eyes, he has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.

"That's fine. I should head back. The others are probably wondering where i am."

We both walk out the park and down the narrow path side by side as we reach the end, Bill turns to me and gives me a piece of paper, which I assume has his number on it.

"Call me, bye,"

"Bye," we both go our separate ways, I turn my neck to look at him, a smile creeping onto my face, making my face go hot. I turn back around and practically run home feeling giddy. I don't get much attention from boys ,none, really, so it doesn't take much to fluster me. I mean, the last relationship I had doesn't even count as it was a primary school one in year 5.

Once I reach my house I open the door.

"I'm home,"

"GREAT, HAVE YOU DONE YOUR SPARXS HOMEWORK," mom shouts.

"Yeah, I did it on Wednesday,"

Huffing I run upstairs and jump straight on my bed gazing at the ceiling, I think back to the park, smiling I remember about the piece of paper. I open my phone and add him to my contacts.

'Hey,it's Y/N.' I type out as soon as I send it. I slam the phone onto my bed and walk to the other side of my room. My phone buzzes, not even 10 seconds later. Rusing back over, I pick up my phone

'Hey, miss me already?'

I blush,

'You wish hahaha'

Getting ready for bed, my phone buzzes again, picking it up it's a picture of what looks like one of Bill's friend with semi long brown hair looking at the camera with a shocked face and Bill and the others not having a clue in the background.

'Future cover of vouge'

'Ikr, all the ladies love me,I'm georg btw, iak who u are, he hasn't shut up about you lol'

'Really? '

'Yeah, ima see how long it takes for him to notice that I have his phone.'

' You do that then'

'So what do you like to do? Personally, I like to play guitar and

Suddenly, I get a video call, and I pick up knowing who it is.

"Well, hello, oh famous y/n."

"Hello,georg. I'm guessing they still haven't figured it out yet. "

"Yep. They're still playing uno. " The camera switches around to reveal Bill and the others in a hotel room. The camera switches back around to face Georg.

" You look like a drowned fish."

"Well, at least I don't have my pants so low, not even my belt can help,"

We bicker on for a few minutes until a shout comes from the other end of the phone

"Jeez, okay, who got your thong in a twist gustav?" Mumbled shouting, is heard until I heard a loud

"Is that my phone? Who are you talking to?"

"Yes and y/n"

'WHAT,' loud stomping is heard until it stops and the phone is wrestled out of goreg's hand and a makeup free Bill is on screen.

"Halo"

"Hey Bill, had a nice game of uno?'

His face starts to heat up a tad .

"Yes, did you miss me so much you wanted to call me?"

" Totally, yeah, it's not like a rat looking creature called me," I say, referring to goreg

" I heard that you ugly chihuahua,"

I ended up talking to the whole group until 22:30pm, we would have continued to chat if it wasn't for me needing to get to bed as i need to get to school at 7 in the morning.

My weird ass alarm wakes me up . Wanting to curl back up in bed and cry, I get up and head to the bathroom to do my morning routine.

I have to leave the house at about 6: 30 as it takes 20 minutes just to walk to the school gates. If it wasn't for my GCSES, I would have missed so many days off school just to sleep.

Munching on my toast, I walk along the extremely long path that's right next to a road to school. Music blasts in my headphones as I bop my head to the music.

Once I reach the gates, I walk around to the schools student entrance. I hate having to spend an extra 2 hours at school, but it's going to be worth it in the long run. Walking into the dining room, I see pheobe sitting at our table.

"You're here early,"

"I woke up at five and couldn't get back to sleep,"

"I don't know how you do it,"

"I can't be arsed for math at 7 in the morning,"

The school day passes by slowly, I mean, imagine being at school for 8 hours.

Once the school day ends, I finally look at my phone to find about 30 texts from an unknown number.

' nah gustav is being hella boring rn'

'I look too good rn for this'

'Do you know any good fast food here'

'Why aren't you answering? It's literally after 3 '

'Georg?'

'The one and only'

'How did you get my number'

'I have my ways'

'You took it from Bill, didn't you?'

'Totally not, anyway as I asked earlier what's good food around here'

'I dunno, domino's.?"

'OK, why so hesitant? It's not shit is it?'

As soon as I get home, I run to my room to get changed into some comfortable and baggy clothes instead of this uncomfortable uniform .

Lying on my stomach, I flick through my true crime magazine until I get bored and place it to the side.

The teacher paired you up with todoroki shoto, the youngest of the todoroki's. He wouldn't stop staring at your chest. And he wasn't paying any attention to the project. But you finished it and some how got an A. The teacher hates you for that class, but not much you can do.

As you got home you seen your boyfriend was in the drive way. Your day started to become better as you thought nothing worse could happen. Your parents were out of town for a work meeting. So you thought you could watch a movie with your boyfriend and cuddle. Or so you thought.

As you walked in you found bottles of liquor out, clothes scattered every where. And a very familiar scent. Your "Best friends" perfume, it smelled like Lavander and coffee, now with a strong smell of liquor.

Hey am crying rn so I am❄+🔥 like I was trying hard to get into void it's like I I forcing lmao I am laughing at it lol its stupid that I was changing something from a way it can't be changed I was trying to chnage the 3d it's like I want to get treated for a disease and went to the dentist lmao I tried for void but never got in no matter what no matter if it's alpha theta delta whatever I tried tried and kept trying then this day I was feeling absolutely shit from the second I woke up I was in a questioning state I was feeling suuuuper down this is about Saturday btw so yeah I found out about Edward art and I went to sleep listening to his videos and it was the eye opening point for me like I felt the switch I felt myself become my desired self and I felt totally different I found out where I was going wrong I used to think that no matter how much I try to get in the void I'll only get in the day I am supposed to but edward told me that there's nothing like fate or destiny you make your own destiny I was mesmerized and totally calm and I also gave myself credit and took responsibility of the I AM I realized how I was a fuccing mess always looking at 3d and mourning while everything I wanted could have been mine but I didn't get sad over that as it's never too late and time isn't real anyways so yeah I was soo calm I didn't get a single negative thought if I saw something undesirable I didn't care or gaf naturally as I totally grasped the concept that 4D IS WHAT MAKES 3D so if I look ugly or not how I want to then instead of crying I naturally thought if I feel like I look ugly then that's my creation and I take full responsibility and just how I got this face and body I'll get what I really want if I really keep going back to the new story how I used to go back to the old story istg I feel so woken up I still doubt but not as much also I manifested sm instantly like literally one second told myself this will happen next second it did ikr crazy. Adding the thoughts I got

A pirate ship isn't really a place for a child, which could be what pushes this Katherine to form the Overgrown? Her looking at this child who needs a safe space and saying "I'll make you a home."

Scott and Jimmy rushing to wherever Katherine is and Scott just sobbing when he sees Xornoth. Full on bawling at seeing his brother he thought he'd never see again. And Xornoth's so conflicted, because their parents called him a traitor but he's so happy to see them so he can't be bad and it's so confusing.

Scott apologizing over and over about how they had to go through that without him

Scott and Jimmy becoming uncle like figures almost? Because they can't stay docked here but Xornoth shouldn't really be on a pirate ship because he's a child, so Katherine and Shelby mostly raise him but Scott and Jim drop by whenever they can

IKR? I'm absolute in love with the concept.

Oooh I really like that. It makes me so soft, Katherine, the pirate queen, realizing that this kid needs a stable, safe, and secure place to live after the tumultuous life he's had, and effectively retiring in order to return to the island she grew up on and build up the Overgrowth so he can have that. I just- AUGH I love them so much.

Oh yeah, Scott crushes his baby brother in the BIGGEST hug the first time he sees them again. He's an absolute mess, just ugly crying super hard, he's apologizing over and over saying he wanted to come and get Xornoth but there was always something in the way, but it's not an excuse, he should have done something, he just left them to the mercy of their parents with no regard for how it would impact them.

And Xornoth is so confused because his brother doesn't seem?? Crazy?? He doesn't seem to have changed much at all. Appearance aside, his personality is still the same, it's just... bolder, more obvious. Like he'd been toning it down before and now he's dialed it all the way up. It's confusing and overwhelming and- oh, now they're crying too.

Less uncles, more like... the cool gay older cousin and his boyfriend who comes around all the time to hang out. So while Katherine and Shelby take care of him most of the time, Scott and Jimmy visit pretty frequently to make sure everything's alright. After all, Xornoth has a lot of trauma to unpack...
