It's a work night but it's fine
I wanna watch more she-ra

my occasional reminder that this is a rewatch and therefore not spoiler-free for later episodes
Tumblr media
YAY MADAME RAZZ
she calls Mara by Adora's name D: she really *isn't* oriented in time, huh
but then time shifts and
Tumblr media
...for those of you who don't know, I work in a retirement community, at the front desk. Most of our residents are independent living, but we have a few that have memory issues and aren't in the locked memory care floor--some aren't considered at risk of leaving/dangerous, and some get 24/7 caregiver visits. And the way Madame Razz talks definitely reminds me of some of those residents.
I made myself really garlicky pasta for dinner and multiple friends of a roommate have walked through and commented on how good it smells. But I only made enough for myself.
Tumblr media
Poor Adora is freaking out and Madame Razz is puttering around. And for some reason stores stuff under a Horde helmet?!
Adora: AHHHH Mara said something about a weapon??? Madame Razz: *suddenly stops* Madame Razz: *thonks Adora on head with broom, goes back to pie-making* Madame Razz: anyway Swift Wind is coming over to make pie
Tumblr media
he's right
But also Adora is trying to talk to her the same way relatives will insist on talking to someone with dementia sometimes--repeatedly trying to orient them to time and place or arguing with them. (Don't do that.)
Tumblr media
You have to enter their world. If they wonder where their (long dead) husband is, don't tell her he's dead; say he's at work, and do you want to help me with this (fairly simple task)?
(Seriously. Do not tell them their husband (or other family member) is dead. All you succeed in doing is upsetting them. They will forget WHY they're upset a few minutes later, but they will physically be able to feel that they're upset, and not have any idea why, which will just agitate them further. Don't put them through that. Don't make them grieve their spouse/parents/etc over and over and over.)
Tumblr media
OH HEY they're back in Mara's time, and that's the space ship alright. And uhhh the Crystal Castle? I guess?????
Mara doesn't recognize her! Madame Razz is like OOHHHHHH is this the first time? It's been so long! Also I need sugar for the pie.
Tumblr media
"or I will be forced to alert your superiors."
That's so weird, I'm used to She-Ra not having any "superiors"
Tumblr media
just give her the damn sugar!
Even Mara doesn't know details about the Heart of Etheria Project. (oooooh yeah I bet she didn't D: )
Back to Adora's time
Tumblr media
oh that's not the Crystal Castle--it's a new (old) place
The ruins have a bunch of marks from the She-Ra sword, ancient boxes of sugar (lol I bet the First Ones' writing just says "sugar") and a fancy crystal thing (that had been in the control panel of the ship)
Tumblr media
Adora: what is this? Madame Razz: oh Mara left that for you, she wants to talk. Help me pick berries.
Tumblr media
"She's been gone for a thousand years!"
WHAT DID I JUST SAY
Thankfully Madame Razz exists outside of time and was just like "pfft nah Mara's helping me make a pie today :D"
Tumblr media
well that's definitely inspired by the boar god from Princess Mononoke
oh we get to see Mara's little transformation into She-Ra, nice!
Madame Razz can order the boar monster around!
Tumblr media
and there's a transfer of magic happening! cool! they're friends now
Tumblr media
and this is how we (the audience) learn that She-Ra's powers don't necessarily require the sword, nice
Tumblr media
which is wild because Mara is technically an alien lol
lol Mara points this out the moment I unpaused it
Tumblr media
yep
Madame Razz: "You cannot control magic, magic simply is."
Mara: "I'm sworn to protect Etheria just as I'm sworn to protect my people. But I know we're doing something to the planet."
Me: *squints* is this a metaphor for like, climate change
Mara: "I don't know all the details of the Heart of Etheria Project, I just know it's big. They say we're the heroes, but I don't know if it's right." Madame Razz: "She-Ra protects Etheria. Your people made the sword, but they did not make She-Ra."
Oh that makes sense lol
They jump back to the present, and Madame Razz is all sad and says, "She said she would come back....she promised....we were going to make the pie....I've been waiting for so long"
Adora puts two and two together: "Everything we're doing, the berries, the sugar, making the pie--it helps you remember." YEAH (seriously tho familiar things really do help them remember stuff, which is why people with dementia, especially at first, are "better" around family.)
Madame Razz, with tears in her eyes: "Oh, Mara. You were never supposed to succeed. They made a plan for you.
Tumblr media
;_;
Tumblr media
"There is a great evil at the Heart of Etheria, Adora. And it is waking up again."
(eek)
Tumblr media
omg look at the little timer thing
Tumblr media
YUP
A frustrated Adora is just like "Please you have to remember SOMETHING"
Madame Razz: "Adora, Mara, it always ends the same!"
Tumblr media
IT'S NOT FUCKING GOOD
Mara: "It's going to activate soon, there's no time...it's starting, I have to get to my ship." Oohhhh that's when she does the little recording they found
Mara: "I can't stop it."
Tumblr media
;_;
Tumblr media
THAT CAN'T BE GOOD
Tumblr media
it's a show for kids! light-hearted fun!
(Hey at least I made a Gravity Falls reference and not Steven Universe. This time. But also for real they got away with SO MUCH BODY HORROR in Gravity Falls?! but couldn't have two people of the same gender in a relationship. FFS.)
Anyway I'm not screenshotting the rest of this scene
Tumblr media
Except to point out THAT'S HOW THE SWORD ENDED UP IN THE WHISPERING WOODS that's where Adora found it :O A THOUSAND YEARS LATER, Mara literally abandoned it there as she stumbled off to the ship
but yeah we jump back to the current era where the pie is done, and also Swift Wind and Adora have fallen asleep, Razz runs out the door with the pie, and then is chasing Mara in the past, and then it jumps back to the present--
Tumblr media
I forgot they moved the ship lol but poor Bow is working on it and
Tumblr media
but yeah Madame Razz is back on "you need to talk to Mara!! you have everything you need"
she gets out the little crystal thing from the ruins
Tumblr media
we see Mara's "ghost" (like we did in the ship when it was still in the Crimson Waste) and we flash back:
Tumblr media
Light Hope sounds SO CREEPY
Tumblr media
Okay so they're not in space, they're just above Etheria
Light Hope: "The Heart of Etheria has been activated. Your mission has been fulfilled. There will be peace throughout the galaxy"
Mara looks HORRIFIED
Light Hope: "you will be a hero" Mara: >:( Mara: "How will destroying worlds bring peace?"
AND I'VE HIT THE IMAGE LIMIT lol I knew I would hold on

shisui courting you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[🗼] first part of shisui general headcanons because he is my distinguished little gentleman
also I'm working with all your requests but they won't be posted until next week because I'm going out and also you guys have so many original ideas I don't wanna mess them up aaaaa
characters: shisui uchiha
genre: sfw; non massacre au
warnings: gn!reader; shisui courting reader; spying ??; minor obsessive traits
Tumblr media
...
...
...
-from the moment shisui laid his eyes on you, he was slightly becoming obsessed with you. not in the yendere-like way, but in an intense adoration kind of way
-so uchihas love very hard right? and since my baby boy is a rational uchiha, he knew that he had to use this newfound love in the right way
-i don't think he'd have many preferences when it comes to a s/o, but he definitely set for someone who shares his ideals about the village
-his devotion for his village is quite deep, so if he meets someone who would also give their life to save konoha (or their own village) then that would be a huge plus for him
-shisui would fall for someone who is protective of their ideals, someone kind and positive but not submissive. he wouldn't like to see you bottling up your thoughts or feelings because you feel inferior
-he loves seeing you passionate about the things you love–which he would slowly take an interest in–, so regardless of how many talents or hobbies you have, he loves seeing you doing them
-he doesn't really care about your physique, as long as you are healthy. he would love if you had any interest in physical activities since he loves corporal interactions, and he would love if you had any training/walks together
-before shisui even thinks of confessing to you, he will court you in the most gentleman yet flirty way he could come with. he is very original with everything he does, with every thing he gives you or any encounter you two have
-as I said before, shisui would become a little obsessed with you from the moment he met you; he felt these strange connection and attraction with you, and as you both were having more moments together, he fell for you, hard
-since he is a very skilled and agile ninja, regardless of your civil rank, he will silently observe you from afar; every time he has free time, he would spend it observing you, what you do, what you like, he would learn your schedule
-shisui is very attentive, it comes naturally since he's been involved in the shinobi world since childhood, so to him it isn't weird or creepy to watch someone in detail
-so before talking to you, shisui would like to know what you do, you like, so he doesn't come off as awkward
-he looks so confident talking to you that you can't help but find his good posture, lighthearted smile, and charming charisma so attractive
-shisui would be so alert for the littlest pinch of interest from you. that is enough to make him continue
-he doesn't give up though, if you want to act tough and hard to get, he will notice !! he doesn't fall into those traps, he is very good at reading people and seeing through them
-so it wouldn't take too long for you to be smitten with shisui's charms, he is just so lovable and hard to miss; you won't even notice when your harmless conversations turned into flirty comments at each other
-shisui would want to be the one to confess. ok he probably thinks too much about this instead of letting everything go smoothly, but he loves you already and he wants your relationship to be perfect
-he would wait for the perfect moment; he is certain you reciprocate his feelings and that you want something with him. he would probably confess in the most random moment
-you would think he would plan a very detailed date with a bunch of flowers, but not really. it would be at your regular trainings/walks, while you are at ease, he would suddenly go quiet and then look at you intensely, whispering a soft "I've liked you from a long time," then he would pause for a second, not waiting for your response, "would you give me the honor of calling you my girlfriend/boyfriend?"
-after you say yes–because why wouldn't you–then shisui would pick you up, spinning you around careful not to hurt you. he would ask you if you let him kiss you, then he would give you one long kiss in your lips, then he would pepper your face with so many kisses you can't help but giggle
-shisui would ask you to tell him you love him, and the second those words leave your mouth, he would never grow tired from hearing them, extremely happy and pleased when you repeat those words
-and now you have established a relationship with the most charming, lovely, gorgeous boy out there, who comes with first class attention, endless hours of fun, and just the best boyfriend material

It's always hard to find people nice like you are, even online.
But yeah, I was just wanting to see anyone you wanna write for in Jujutsu Kaisen, Obey Me! or My Hero Academia, it dpesn't matter to me. But the reader is trans man and is usually used to getting missgendered and rude comments but he just kinda had a shit day and it hurt him more than usual.
Just a little comfort and protective boyos if you don't mind~
And do remember to drink some water and take care of yourself!!
I really didn't know who to start with here, but in the end I went with Kirishima from My Hero, seeing as I couldn't think of anyone more comforting than him.
I hope it's okay, let me know what you think!
It's like a sixth sense of his, when he knows enough is enough.
One look is all it took for him to know that (Y/N)'s overloading at the barked slurs from a few ignorant pricks.
Kirishima knows his boyfriend's strong as anyone can get, he knows (Y/N)'s dealt with shit he can't even think of, and it breaks his heart to imagine his partner in those situations.
Back then, Kiri hadn't been there, and damned if he'd let it happen now, when he's right across the street.
(Y/N)'s never been ashamed of his identity, and his fans love him the way he is. For many, he's an inspiration, relatable and fearless.
Red Riot doesn't hear the exact words being thrown at (H/N) by a bunch of ignorant teens, he doesn't care, because (Y/N)'s had the week from Hell, and he's not about to let it get any worse.
'Hey! Nobody asked your opinion. Take yourselves the hell outta my boyfriend's personal space.'
(Y/N) looked up at him, releasing a sigh of relief as Red Riot's out of character frown had people running. His entire demeanor is usually so sunny, it must have looked like quite a sight to see him so serious.
To (Y/N), it's a comfort, broad shoulders set and strong in his defence. Kirishima would never, ever hurt him, all of that strength is purely for cuddles.
Oh, and, you know, fighting crime.
'Hey, you okay baby?'
Kirishima turned his back on the world, guarding (Y/N) from prying eyes as he fights back emotions, forcing himself to breathe deep as he nodded slowly.
The redhead opened his arms, quietly letting his lover settle his forehead against his collarbone.
(Y/N) didn't need to say a word, he never has, not with Kiri. Ever since UA, he's gone out of his way to understand (Y/N), respecting boundaries and being so damn perfect there was no way not to fall for him.
'M fine, just...tired.'
Tired of so many things, tired of it all at once, tired of not being tired.
Eijirou glared off anyone who even looked at him, quietly stroking (Y/N)'s hair as he gathered himself. 'We'll head home when you're ready.'
'But patrol's not over for another hour!' (Y/N) suddenly shot straight, the weight of responsibility piled on to anxiety until he was ready to snap.
'Hey, easy. The rest of the world will be fine without us. They've got Deku, and Dynamight, and Shoto and all the other awesome heroes you and I graduated with. Right now, you need home, and I need to see that handsome smile of yours, so we're heading home, kay?'
He always knows what to say, smiling as he cups (Y/N)'s cheeks, stroking them tenderly with his thumbs.
(Y/N) relaxed, lost in soulful eyes as the rest of the world just melted.
'Yeah, okay. Thank you, Eiji.'
He laughed, lighting the world as he threw his arm around his lover, eagerly guiding them home. 'You don't have to thank me baby, I've always got your back, against anything.'

DIWK - Chapter ten: "Set me free my honey bee"
Tumblr media
Word count: 11,6K
Summary: Let's jump 19 months in time and see how painful it has turned for reader and Spencer to hide their feelings for each other. JJ leaves the team, and a new member joins the BAU.
Warnings: Angst and hurt. Fools being assholes. Cursing, of course. Mention of CM cases and spoilers on S06E11.
A/N: Please don't hate me. Just remember things usually look like the shit before they get worst, and then everything is better. I hope.

┅┅┅┅┅┅┅༻❁༺┅┅┅┅┅┅┅
(Y/N)'s point of view
Time is a weird thing. I remember when I was in school and time didn't pass fast enough. Semesters were eternal. It felt it had been years by the time summer vacation arrived. The complete opposite happened to me at the BAU. Suddenly, time passed too quickly. A whole year and a half went by in the blink of an eye.
I told Spencer about it, and he sent me a paper published by Professor Adrian Bejan that presented an argument based on the physics of neural signal processing. He hypothesizes that, over time, the rate at which we process visual information slows down, and this is what makes time 'speed up' as we grow older.
My answer was that I thought it happened 'cos as we grew older, we did things that actually gave us joy, which made us feel the time was passing faster than before. So we argued a whole Saturday afternoon about it and created our own theories for that event.
My theory was my personal favorite, 'cos it was the only one that could easily explain why so much time had passed in the BAU, and it felt like it had been just a few weeks.
It hadn't been easy, though. Those nineteen months had been filled with some of the worst situations we had been through as a team.
After I got shot, JJ finally admitted her relationship with Will and got pregnant. That was shocking, the first BAU baby: Henry.
Sadly, Henry was the only little good thing that happened that year. Because to sum it up, a bunch of awful shit happened to all of us: Hotch was in a car explosion that almost killed him. Spencer and Prentiss got trapped in an undercover mission into an underground cult to investigate child abuse, and Emily was beaten up pretty badly. Also, Spencer got infected with anthrax and nearly died. That was probably the most agonizing moment I had lived since the whole Tobias Hankel situation two years earlier.
Also, that year Prentiss had to investigate the case of the death of one of her best friends, and I was in a pretty nasty fight with an unsub that got me out of the field for three weeks. Not to mention, Spencer was shot in the leg.
Hotch was stabbed by the only unsub that has actually won against the BAU: Foyet. He attacked Aaron and got on the lose for months, but we all knew his next move as torture Hotch's family. That's why his ex-wife Haley and his little son Jack had to go into protective custody, and he couldn't see them for months while we tried to catch Foyet.
Things didn't go as planned. And without a doubt, the worst moment that year was the day Haley died. Foyet killed her, and Aaron lost it. He literally killed him with his bare hands the moment he got him. For a solid week, I was sure Aaron Hotchner wouldn't be the unit chief anymore. Strauss actually opened an investigation related to everything that happened that day. But in the end, somehow, she understood the "bloodbath" that had happened in that house was all in Foyet's hands.
However, there's no way to deny that the whole team had changed in many ways after that year. The concept of being a family was now more present than ever. After chasing Foyet for months, we were all onto him as if he was chasing our own family, because he was.
You don't work this kind of job with a team like mine and don't get attached to them. And this goes beyond how in love I was with Spencer. The (Y/N) who first stepped into the BAU, scared to show her true self, was long gone. And despite my deepest fears, letting them in and showing them who I really was had been one of the smartest decisions I have ever made.
Do you want to know which was my stupidest decision? Falling in love with Spencer Reid. It hadn't actually been my choice. I just didn't fight the feeling either. I don't think I could have even if I tried, though. Those nineteen months brought us so close, my mom thought we were living together, and the teasing from our friends was so common we weren't even affected by it.
For Christ Sakes, even Strauss thought we were dating! She forced us to attend a seminar on fraternization, concerned after she realized we always took our vacation together. We had a lot of fun trips, though. First, we visited his mom and had an amazing weekend in Las Vegas. Then we took a few days off after the anthrax incident and went to Hawaii. Picture Spencer Reid in an "all-inclusive," drinking all the coffee and eating all the pastries possible while reading a million books underneath an extra-large umbrella. We had fun that week, did some local touring, but most of all, sleeping in and relaxing. Spencer hates the beach but got those tickets anyway.
Did everybody think we were a couple? Yes
Did it help that we shared rooms, 'cos we were already used to it? No
Did it feel like a honeymoon without sex? Yes
Could I stop thinking about sex with Spencer? No.
And all that led us to the nightmare our relationship was going to become.
Penelope Garcia was drunk. She kept pouring shots and pushing them to us. Emily was wasted as well. But she kept acting like the classy lady she is. Not like JJ. My poor baby had mascara smeared under her eyes after crying for like an hour.
We found out she was leaving the team, and it was a hard blow on us. And by hard, I mean the worst thing that had ever happened to us. We had suffered without JJ when she was on maternity leave. And we struggled without her. Now knowing the Pentagon had taken her away from the BAU was torture.
We had a goodbye party for her at Rossi's, but this was our goodbye girl's night, and neither of us was holding anything back.
We had cried, we had sung sad songs. We drank all the champagne, wine, and vodka we could find. And now, holding our tequila shots, we knew it was time to call it a night.
- "I just love you girls so much,"- JJ whispered, crying- I don't wanna work without you.
- "Boo, come here!!"- I opened my arms and wrapped them around my friend, kissing the top of her hair a few times- "I love you too, and you are going to come back so soon you won't have time to miss us. You'll see. Papa Rossi and Dada Hotch are gonna fix everything."
I was drunk. Seriously drunk. But that wasn't the reason why I was so sweet with JJ. The truth is, I was broken-hearted. Like Penelope and Reid, I didn't manage change very well, and the fact that JJ was forced to leave made me feel frustrated and mad. But most of all, it made me think of every time I had been a little bitch with her during the years. And I regretted each one of them.
- "And we won't be far!"- Emily added and caressed JJ's arm, smiling kindly- "You will still be in town, and we will not leave you alone"- JJ chuckled and nodded.
- "I know, girls. Shit, I love you all so much!"
- "We love you too!"- Penelope sobbed and moved closer, wrapping the three of us in her arms.
- "Please, take care!"- JJ wiped off the tears from her eyes and looked at us- "Emily, don't do anything stupid! Don't rush in the field, and please don't take your fucking vest off!!"
- "I won't! I promise!"
- "You have to live to be Unit chief one day!"- JJ added, and Prentiss widened her eyes, shocked.
- "That's not really my gold."
- "But you'd be queen, baby!!"- Jareau added and turned to Penelope- "And you, please make sure Hotch eats. I kept a stack of granola bars on my desk to keep him fueled during the day. He usually forgets lunchtime and skips dinner, so..."
- "Don't worry, JJ,"- Penelope nodded, and we all felt our heartbreak a little thinking about all the things JJ did in her daily basics to take care of the team, and we didn't even know.
- "How are we going to survive without you?"- I mumbled, pouting. JJ chuckled and held my hand.
- "You are a rock, and you will do a fantastic job keeping this team together. Just, please, can you and Spencer start dating now?"
I wide opened my eyes and stared at JJ. The comment surprised me. I shouldn't, 'cos the whole "you and Spencer should start dating" joke was getting old. Only this time, JJ wasn't joking. She held both my hands and looked right into my eyes.
- "(Y/N), he loves you"- I was about to argue with her, but she covered my mouth with her Cheetos smelling hand.
- "Don't say a word! Spencer loves you so much you really must be blind not to see it. And I know you love him too. It's implied in all the little things you do for him every day. So don't take it for granted. Don't think this will last forever 'cos look at me! A week ago, I was happily working at the BAU, and now I'm drinking at my goodbye party! So don't waste any more time! You are in love with Spencer, and he loves you! It doesn't take a profiler to see it. So please! Act on it!"
There was a dramatic silence after. I didn't know how to break it. I could just joke around, but somehow, it didn't feel right. It had been too quiet for too long, and that made everything harder to deny. Finally, Emily put her hand on mine, just like JJ was still doing, and smiled at me.
- "There's nothing to be ashamed of, (Y/N). You are not the first person to fall for her best friend."
- "And the Junior G Man loves you so much,"- Penelope added, landing her hand on our hands too.
- "As his friend"- I corrected and sighed. I guess that was it. After three years, I could probably start facing my feelings in front of my friends.
- "No, (Y/N)"- Garcia tried to argue, but I shook my head and stood up, 'cos all that sudden attention and affection was bothering me.
- "PG, I was in Hawaii with the man, sharing a room, walking around in a bikini, and he didn't do anything."
- "That's because he is shy!"- Emily excused him right away.
- "My bikini leaves pretty much nothing to the imagination. Do you know what he said when he first saw me on it?"- I looked at my friend and poured us another round of tequila- "And I quote, "I don't think I brought enough books. This one is too interesting."
I air quoted with my fingers as we spoke, and the three of them looked at me, speechless. I made my point and drank my shot, feeling the alcohol burning down my throat. My friends opened their mouths but didn't produce a word. I sighed and looked at them.
- "But he hates the beach, and he took you there anyway,"- Emily pointed out
- "Did he give you his speech about how he hates sandy food?"- JJ asked me, and I chuckled, nodding.
- "And about pink skin, limited and unengaging topography, and of course, the real reason he hates the beach: drug-resistant bacteria spread by seagull feces."
- "And the man took you to the beach!"- Penelope argued.
- "But he didn't do anything! he didn't make his move, didn't even hold my hand!!"- I nearly shouted- "That's why, among a lot of reasons, is how I know Spencer is not interested in me! If only I'd tell you all the shit we've been through!"
- "Please!! Tell us!!"- Garcia begged and grabbed one of my legs- "I won't live another day 'cos I won't be able to deal with the mystery!"
- "No! 'cos you are gonna tell Morgan"- I slurred- "And he is going to embarrass and tease my honey bunny, and my honey bunny is gonna get all nervous and nervous around me, and we are never going to..."- I stopped talking and looked at my friends. I was sharing too much.
- "(Y/N)?"- Prentiss looked at me, but I just shook my head and looked down.
- "I think I better go home."
- "No, you can't drive like this,"- JJ argued immediately and held my hand- "I'm not gonna let you go intoxicated. Will is gonna come pick me up, and we'll drop you in your place."
I nodded at her and stayed still. My friends smiled at me, and slowly very slowly, I leaned on JJ's shoulder and rested my head on it.
- "I love you, boo,"- I whispered, and she giggled- "I don't think I'll stay sane without you there with us anymore."
- "Hotch is gonna manage to get her back,"- Penelope assured me, and I just nodded.
- "Meanwhile, we won't replace you, and if anyone tries to push someone new into the team, we are not gonna take them,"- I added, feeling JJ's hand holding mine.
- "Don't be mean with people just 'cos you miss me. If there's a new teammate, it won't be their fault I was pushed out of the BAU."
- "But, JJ,"- I tried to argue, but she shook her head right away.
- "No, (Y/N). You can't be mean to people just because."
Clearly, my friend hoped I could be the better person. The simple question was: did I want to be the better person? Right there, drunk and sad, the answer was no.
Spencer's point of view
I kept finding myself awake at four in the morning, walking around my apartment, not able to read or to write anything. For the last months, at least twice or three times each week, I would stay awake, no matter how tired I felt, and I would haunt my own apartment, listening to my vinyl records.
The sudden lack of sleep wasn't really something weird in me. I have always been nocturnal. Besides, the news of JJ's departure had hit us all pretty hard. I had already shared my share of tears and tried to manage the fury that caused me to know we were helpless to the government's decisions. There was nothing we could do, neither us, Hotch, or even Strauss. Not that she would if she could.
My family was in crisis, and all we could do was hope for the best and stay together.
It was scary losing JJ. It made me think of all the things that could go wrong every day on the field daily. It was bad that we could get hurt or even die on our work. But that they divided us that way made no sense. Like Rossi said: our loss was someone else's winning, and in the FBI, no one cared if we lost.
I poured myself a cup of herbal tea and inhaled the smell of it. It smelled like home. Like (Y/N). She had some of her favorite teas in my apartment. She had a bunch of all her things there, actually. When mom visited, she thought we were living together. She is still sure we are dating and that I don't wanna tell her. I don't longer argue with her about it. It's useless, and it somehow feels good to imagine in another world. It was actually true.
That year my feelings for my best friend had grown in a way that made it all more difficult to deal with. I didn't just love her. I was in love with her. She was in everything I did, in each and every one of my thoughts. I could hear her laughter in my head, like a record playing my favorite song over and over again.
When she was out there in the field, I couldn't stop running all the probabilities of her getting hurt, and most of the time, I would do my best to keep her safe, knowing it could somehow interfere with the case.
Hotch had called me to his office a few times, aware something was going with me. He could read it on my face, I guess. It was scary to know everybody could read my feelings for (Y/N) but her. And it was sad to think of the worst: that she knew how much I loved her, but she didn't feel the same, and she was just being my friend 'cos she was never going to be anything else but my friend.
I drank my tea and hummed the song that sounded in my house at four in the morning: Love is a losing game. Seemed pretty accurate for my mood. I remember the day I got that vinyl. We were out with (Y/N), Frank, and Lu, looking for a present for Mikey's birthday, and we ended up in a record store, getting a million vinyl records for ourselves.
- "Are you getting all those?"- (Y/N) asked me and looked at the seven albums in my hand.
- "Yes, why? I can't?"- I answered and raised an eyebrow.
- "Sassy!"- she giggled and grabbed them- "You can get all the albums you want. But I have to give my approval first. No, you are not getting this!"- she grabbed The Beatles' Revolver and left it aside.
- "What? Why? It's only one I need to complete my collection."
- "I know, but when you get it, you'll force me to listen to it, and I don't like the Beatles,"- she argued, and I just shook my head, taking the album again.
- "Sorry, chipmunk, I'm buying it."
- "Fine. I won't go to your house for the next couple of weeks then."
- "Why don't you tell me which album you wanna listen to when you are in my house then?"- I looked at her, smiling at me and looking for a record on the shelves.
- "This! You need some Amy in your life."
And I did. Now, at four in the morning, all alone walking around, I could see her in my apartment, singing along to her favorite songs while cooking dinner, feeling at home. I wished she was there, with me, doing nothing. Watching tv, or reading. Just hanging out. I knew it wasn't healthy being in love with my friend, seeing her every day, and also hanging out with her every chance I got. But even when I knew she was never going to love me the way I did, I was going to take every chance I had to enjoy her company. If that was all I was going to get.
My phone took me from my thoughts, and I quickly walked to my room to get it. I thought it was Hotch announcing a case, but it was JJ.
- "Hey! JJ, everything ok? Is Henry ok?"
- "Yes, hi Spence. We are all ok."
- "It's four in the morning."
- "Sorry I woke you up... I just..." - she made a pause and sighed at the other side of the line- "Spencer, you know I love you."
- "I love you too. You are one of my best friends. Is everything ok?"
- "Yes, I just wanted to... remember a bunch of years ago, when you asked me to that football game?"
A million years had passed since the one and only time I had asked JJ out. It was the only move I tried to do on her, and I failed incredibly. It was awkward, and she had no idea it was a date, so she invited Garcia to come along. I was so embarrassed I never even mentioned that single event ever again, and our friendship grew after.
- "Yes, I remember, JJ. Why?"
- "When you asked me out, did you have a crush on me?"
- "JJ, are you drunk?"- I had to ask 'cos that conversation was starting to scare me.
- "Yes, but that's not why I'm talking about this. Just answer the questions, Spence. When you asked me out on that date, did you have a crush on me?"
- "Yes, I did."
I closed my eyes, embarrassed to face feelings that were far forgotten.
- "You see, I had a crush on you too back then,"- JJ said and chuckled- "But neither of us acted on it, and life continued, and now I'm in love with Will, and we have a baby, and you are his godfather."
Of all the things I thought I would listen to that day, never in a million years, I imagined I would hear JJ drunk telling me she had a crush on me when we first met.
- "Now, do you want that to happen again?"- she asked, and I didn't get it, 'cos I was still trying to process what I had just heard. So I might have had a relationship with her if only I had said something, act on it. Kiss her, ask her out again?
- "What?"
- "Spence. Do you want to miss the chance to be with the girl you like?"
- "No, but JJ, what are you talking about?"
She sighed, frustrated, and used that tone of voice with me, that very maternal specific tone of voice she used to explain things she knew were hard for me to follow.
- "When you like someone, Spence, you have to tell her. 'Cos sometimes, life gets in the way, and if you don't do what you have to do to be happy, no one will do it for you."
- "Are you ok, JJ?"
- "Yes, Spence, I'm ok. I'm home with Will. We just got here after dropping (Y/N) off her place."
- "How was she?"
- "She might have had a few too many drinks, but she'll be ok in the morning. Maybe she'd appreciate it if you brought her coffee and donuts."
- "She doesn't like donuts,"- I corrected her- "She likes cupcakes and brownies."
- "Sorry. Coffee and cupcakes... just tell her you love her, Spence. She deserves to know."
I held my breath and closed my eyes. I didn't get why JJ was telling me that, but I knew I didn't want to talk about it. So I said good night and hung up.
What was the point of telling me we could have been a couple of years had passed already? Why didn't she say a thing before? Or even better, why didn't she ever say a word about it at all? So I missed the chance to be happy with her. Great. One more regret to add to my list.
I laid on my bed and tried to remember that date. I was so nervous that day, my hands shook inside my pockets as I walked to JJ's door. She looked beautiful that day, especially when she looked at me and announced she had invited Penelope to join us.
That was when I realized she would never see me as a proper date, just like a friend. And I learned to make my peace with that over the years. My crush for JJ lasted a few more months, but it vanished when I fell for (Y/N). What if she had never joined the team? Would I have been in love with JJ forever? Jeniffer always made me feel like her little brother, and I guess that's the mechanic that works for us. We were good friends ever since we met, and yes, I had a crush on her, but we work more like siblings than anything else.
What was the point in telling me I had missed a chance with her now? I just couldn't see it.
(Y/N)'s point of view
The next few weeks were us trying to survive without JJ. The team was making the best it could, but it was hard. Penelope took the lead during the second case without JJ. She turned into our tech analyst and communication liaison, only to collapse under the pressure of having two roles.
No one was going to replace JJ. We all knew it. Literally, no one, 'cos Hotch decided he and Garcia were going to split the job, and we were all going to collaborate as much as we could, 'cos we were a team. A family. And that's what families do.
And families were the target of the unsub we were hunting the day everything changed. Again. I hadn't recovered from the departure of JJ when Rossi and Hotch walked to the bullpen and introduced us to Agent Trainee Ashley Seaver.
My nemesis.
- "Agent trainee Seaver"- Rossi smiled at her like a proud father and looked at us as we stood up, wondering who she was- "Supervisory Special Agent Prentiss, (Y/L/N), and Morgan."
- "I've heard so much about the three of you,"- she said with the sweetest tone of voice I had ever heard. Something about that felt odd.
- "I hope it is all good- Morgan flirted right away, of course."
- "Very, sir."
- "Anything specific? I mean about me in particular?"- I turned to him and failed in holding back my chuckles.
- "Please, don't encourage him, or he will never stop talking,"- I said, and Derek elbowed me playfully. Seaver smiled at us and even blushed a little bit. She was nervous.
- "Agent Seaver is on loan to us from the academy while she is remedial training with an injury."
Hotch announced. And my stomach tightened right away. There was something wrong with that whole scene. I could feel it in my guts. But I didn't know why?
- "Concussion. Hand to hand got a little out of control."- Seaver explained and kept a silly smile on her face.
- "How's the other guy?"- Prentiss asked.
- "Don't ask."
- "I was remediated in the academy also,"- Spencer said, walking over us, and suddenly I understood why I had a bad feeling about everything.
- "Agent Seaver, Dr. Reid."
As soon as I heard Rossi say those words, there was a part of me who just wanted to hold Spencer's hand and push him away from her, even before they could say hi. She looked at him like he was eye candy, and I clenched my knuckles as I stared at the scene.
- "Uhm... What was your issue?"- she asked him, and I could see the pink on her cheek intensifying as he looked at her, confused.
- "What was my issue? Marksmanship, physical training, obstacle course, Hogan's alley. You know, pretty much everything that wasn't technically book related. They ultimately had to make exceptions to allow me into the field."
Seaver stared at him and kept nodding, though I wondered if she was listening to what he had said. Spencer looked exceedingly handsome that day. His hair was very short for the first time in years, and he still had no idea how to comb it, so it was all over the place, making him look as hot as fuck.
I was so in love with him, I didn't know what to do with those feelings at all. It was hard working with Reid at that point. I just wanted to kiss him.
- "Agent Seaver's going to accompany us to New Mexico,"- Aaron announced, and I couldn't help but question him right away.
- "She is?"
- "As a consultant."- he assured me.
- "On?"- Morgan raised an eyebrow and looked at Hotch, wondering what a trainee agent could help us with as a consultant.
- "She has a unique perspective,"- Rossi tried to explain, but it sounded like bullshit.
- "They don't know?"- Seaver turned to the elderly agents, and they shook their heads.
- "Well, we weren't sure how you wanted to,"- David whispered.
- "Uh... Seaver's not my original last name. It's my mother's maiden name. Mine used to be Beauchamp. My father is Charles Beauchamp"- Ashley was supposed to explain the circumstances of her consultancy to the whole team, but she just looked at Spencer as she spoke.
- "As in the Redmond ripper, Charles Beauchamp?"- he asked her, and suddenly, it clicked. It was like my whole body was telling me I couldn't be close to her for a reason.
- "That's him,"- she whispered and kept her eyes on my best friend as he continued talking.
- "He killed 25 women over 10 years in rural North Dakota. I think that you caught him, right, Rossi?"- and David nodded.
- "Hotch was on that team, too."
- "Based on her life experience, we were hoping that agent Seaver might recognize something in the family dynamics inside the community that could be helpful. We have a plane waiting,"- Hotch announced and looked at us, but none of us said a word.
I kept my eyes glued at my feet the whole time Aaron talked. Then, Spencer nodded and walked with Seaver and Rossi out to the hangar. I couldn't even blink. I think I was in shock.
- "Her father was a serial killer?"- Prentiss asked Hotch, not getting what he was thinking.
- "That's definitely a different set of parameters,"- Morgan added. Neither of them was sold on the idea, which made me feel a little bit better.
- "I don't want her presence to get us sidetracked. It's a long shot that she's gonna see anything helpful. We work it like any other case,"- Hotch was clear, and Prentiss and Morgan nodded.
- "You got it."
But I disagreed with that.
- "(Y/N), is everything ok?"- Aaron asked me, and I tried my best to lie and be cool.
- "Yeah, I'm ok."
- "Ok. We work this like any other case. Wheels up in twenty."
But everything was far from being ok.
I sat next to Spencer on the jet, and we reviewed the case files together. Hotch briefed us, and we all pretended it wasn't weird having Seaver there. And I guess we had to pretend it wasn't odd knowing her dad was a serial killer.
- "You are very young, (Y/N),"- she said and smiled at me. She was sitting across from Spencer and me, and you could tell she had been trying to join the conversation for a few minutes now.
-" Twenty eight,"- I answered and looked at the files again.
- "And you, doctor?"
- "You can call me Reid. I'm twenty eight too,"- Spencer cut her a short, awkward, and nervous smile, and I turned to him.
- "Honey, did I leave my Mets jersey at your house?"- it was the only question that came to my mind at that minute. It was completely random, but somehow it showed a part of our dynamic that Ashley didn't know. Our friendship. Our closeness.
- "Yes, I found it last night,"- he answered and sipped his coffee- "I was gonna bring it over, but then I remembered you always borrow all my sweaters when you are home or when you stay over, so I thought maybe it was a good idea to keep it at my place."
- "I don't know, Batsy. It's my favorite sweatshirt- I raised an eyebrow, and I'm pretty sure I even flirted a little bit."
- "So? You need to keep one there."
- "But I like wearing your clothes when we are at your place. It's extra large and extra comfy."
- "Is that why you keep taking my sweaters back to your house?"- he asked and chuckled- "Last Sunday, I found four of my sweaters in your closet."
- "Sorry, I'm not even sorry,"- I said and laughed- "And what were you doing in my closet?"
- "Lucy, Ricky, can we focus on the case?"- Morgan asked and waved at us with one silly grin on his face- "We love hearing your adorable daily adventures, but we've got a psycho killer to catch."
Spencer blushed and flustered right away. I stuck out my tongue at Morgan and just shook my head. The way Seaver looked at Reid was still driving me nuts, but I felt I had shown her he was mine, childishly.
It's embarrassing to think that's not the most childish thing I did around her those days. Or in the weeks to follow. But I didn't like Ashley, and I didn't want her around my team. And it wasn't just her constant flirting with Spencer. It was the fact her father had killed my mother's sister when she was in college, and I was making my best effort to keep that fact aside from work. My personal life had to stay out of the FBI, especially when working a case.
I had to do some serious mental work trying to remember it wasn't Ashley's fault her father was a sick bastard. She hadn't hurt my family, and her father had ruined her life too. It wasn't her fault.
But one thing is knowing. Another thing is being rational about it. Spoiler: I wasn't so rational about it.
- "So, (Y/N). Do you like working at the BAU?"- Ashley asked me and looked at me through the rearview mirror. We were in the SUV, and Prentiss was driving. I was in the back seat, trying to ignore her, but she made it impossible.
- "Yes, very much,"- I answered and nodded, not taking my eyes from the window.
- "Everybody is very friendly,"- Seaver added and made a pause. I don't know if she wanted me to say something or if she was trying to find a way to say what she wanted to say.
- "Yes, they are,"- I humored her, and she quickly responded.
- "Are you and Spencer dating?"- I could feel the blood raising my cheeks as she spoke. And Prentiss flashed me a look through the mirror as Ashley continued talking.
- "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude. I just wondered because of the fraternization policy."
- "Right. Sure. Of course."
Those three words were meant to let Ashley know I wasn't buying her bullshit, So I literally spit them.
- "Spencer is my best friend. We are not dating."
Facing that simple truth had never been harder before, especially after how I saw Ashley's face light up.
- "You just seem to be so close."
- "Oh, they are close,"- Emily smiled at me and winked- "They are so close, they sometimes freak us out."
- "We freak you out?"- I raised an eyebrow and carefully hit her arm, pretending to be upset. But honestly, I was glad she was teasing me.
- "I am just saying, we are all pretty suspicious about you two. I am actually surprised you didn't share rooms tonight. They usually share rooms."- Emily explained to Seaver.
- "He was paired with Morgan,"- I pouted and looked at my phone. I thought maybe I could send him a funny text. I actually wanted to hang out with him.
- "He is very nice,"- Ashley added- "I mean, everybody is nice."
- "Yes, you mentioned it"
I was clearly not being nice. Seaver nodded and looked at the files again. I assumed she was trying to find a way to keep asking about Spencer, and I was making my best not to kill her.
- "Working with a genius must be somehow intimidating,"- she said after a few minutes. Damn it, she wasn't going to let that subject go.
- "It's fun working with Spencer,"- Prentiss said, trying to humor Seaver. And mostly, I guess trying to ease my mood and keep me from killing the trainee agent.
- "I'm sure it is,"- Seaver added. I hated her.
- "He is more than just a genius, he is a nerd."- Emily pointed out and chuckled at her words, making Seaver giggle too. I looked at my book again, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to concentrate on it at all. He was my nerd. Mine.
- "Well, it's very refreshing to be with a group who trusts and works so well together,"- she added- "I had never felt less judged and more welcome in my entire life."
I know I should have felt sorry for her. But I honestly couldn't. That was the day I realized I wasn't the good person I thought I was. There was a part of me that was a scumbag. I'm guessing knowing that is pretty helpful and positive 'cos you can work on your flaws. But I wasn't planning on working on anything at that minute, though. I just wanted to break Seaver's face.
Spencer's point of view
I didn't like working without JJ. I've never been good with change, and that was a massive alteration of our routine. I missed her, and adding Ashley to the team made things even weirder for me, even for a case. I didn't want to be judgemental, but her father was a serial killer. Of course, that would make things weird.
Besides, everybody kept bugging me, teasing me, trying to see if I liked Seaver. Penelope called while we were on the case and started taunting me, saying she knew I thought Ashley was cute. I could see she was beautiful, but I couldn't see her that way. And I didn't want anyone to say those kinds of things around (Y/N).
Why did I care so much?
I didn't want to face it 'cos I knew it was completely platonic, but I didn't want (Y/N) to think I had a crush on Seaver. I knew my best friend didn't have romantic feelings for me, and I also knew I wasn't going to make a move on her or anything. But I didn't want things to change more than they already had. And most of all, I didn't want anything to alter my dynamic with (Y/N).
But at the same time, somehow, it felt everything was already different between us.
- "Hey, honey bunny,"- (Y/N) walked to me and handed me a cup of coffee- "I thought you might need one of these."
- "You are a lifesaver,"- I whispered and sipped the cup. It was perfect.
We were on the jet on our way back home. The whole team was mostly quiet. The mood was weird. Ashley had done something quite reckless earlier and nearly got herself killed. She walked to the unsub's house all alone, not knowing he was our guy. She almost died, and none of us can even imagine what went through her head to do such a thing.
Rossi and Hotch walked to her. (Y/N) looked at me, and I could read on her face that both of us knew what was going to happen.
Ashley was alone when David sat in front of her, and Hotch stood in the middle of the aisle. Maybe that had been insensitive of us. Neither of us tried to contain her. Neither of us really knew her that well. Or at all, as a matter of fact.
- "You were not supposed to go off on your own."- Hotch went straight to the point.
- "I know,"- she whispered, and I could see how (Y/N)'s face changed. I tried to read her, but all I was able to see was... anger? I had to be wronged. She had no reason to be mad at Ashley.
- "You could have been killed,"- Hotch crossed his arms on his chest and stared at her.
- "I know that, too."
- "Why, Ashley? You're smarter than that"- Rossi sounded like a worried father. I didn't look at him 'cos I kept my eyes on (Y/N)'s, still trying to read her emotions. But what I saw made no sense. She really looked like she was angry at Ashley. Like she hated her.
- "I never got to apologize to any of the victims. The families of the women my father killed. I thought if I could just apologize to one family that had been hurt that way..."
And that was when (Y/N) snapped. She jumped from her seat and walked to Seaver. Aaron and David looked at her surprised, and Morgan turned to me, taking off his headphones. Neither he nor Prentiss got what was happening until that moment.
- "Ok. Shoot!"- (Y/N) sat right in front of Seaver, next to David, and looked at her. But she didn't get it.
- "What? What are you talking about?"
- "You just said you wanted to apologize to one of the families. So go ahead. Try."
The silence on the jet was so deep and awkward it felt no one was ever going to talk again.
- "I'm sorry, (Y/N). But I don't get what you are implying,"- Ashley's voice was a whisper. I knew she was sad and affected, embarrassed even. But I also knew (Y/N), and I could read it on her face. She wasn't joking.
- "You said you wanted to apologize to the family of one of your dad's victims, so go ahead. Apologize to me."
My first instinct was to stand up, which I did. But I froze and didn't take a step closer to (Y/N) when I noticed the severe and cold look in her eyes. I didn't know what she was talking about. But I knew she wasn't bluffing.
- "Why should I... apologize to you?"- Ashley asked her, and her voice broke at a certain point, probably scared of the answer.
- "Your dad killed my mother's older sister. She was in college,"- (Y/N) spit each word with hate and looked at Ashley, waiting for her reply. But Seaver didn't know what to do. She widened her eyes and stayed still. She barely kept her breathing steady.
- "(Y/N), maybe we should let Seaver rest,"- Hotch landed a hand on her shoulder, but my friend shook her head.
- "No, Hotch. By making that choice, she put everyone at risk,"- (Y/N) didn't take her eyes from Ashley as she spoke- "As far as I remember when you are at the academy, they teach you that in the field, we are responsible to and for your team."
- "(Y/N)... I had no idea..."- Ashley tried to apologize, I could see it, but it was clear she wasn't going to win that argument- "I am so sorry."
- "I don't know, Seaver. Did you think saying "sorry" would make those families feel better? 'Cos it ain't working here. "Sorry" won't make my mom stop feeling guilty about what happened. And, if things had gotten ugly back there, "sorry" wouldn't have made your mistake go away in case anyone would have gotten hurt. So no. Sorry doesn't help. Maybe it can ease your conscience, but when you really fuck it up, it never makes things better."
(Y/N) stood up and walked back to her seat in front of me. I let her pass and didn't say a word. I knew she wouldn't want to talk about it there. And, of course, Seaver didn't say a word. She just stood up and walked to the back of the jet, to the bathroom. Rossi and Hotch looked at each other and then looked at me.
David poured a glass of whiskey and walked to (Y/N) slowly. He didn't say a word, he just handed it to her, and she just took it and sipped it with shaky hands.
- "Thanks,"- she whispered, and Rossi nodded. Hotch raised an eyebrow, and for a moment, I thought he was going to say something, but he didn't. He just walked to his seat and opened a case file.
I moved back to my seat and opened my satchel. I had run out of candies earlier that day, so I didn't have much to give to her that could make her smile. So I picked a book and handed it to her. She took it and smiled at me kindly. I knew she was fighting back the tears, and I am sure she has held back all the emotions than being with the daughter of the man who killed her aunt since she knew who Seaver was. And she managed to do the job well. I was proud of her.
- "Wanna grab something to eat when we reach DC?"- I whispered, but for the first time ever, she shook her head.
- "I'm gonna have to catch a rain check for that dinner. I think I wanna go straight to my bed today, honey."- she sipped her glass again, and I nodded.
- "Don't worry, next time."
I was waiting for the train to go back home later that night when I saw Seaver sitting at a bench at the station, staring at her hands on her lap. I didn't see her leaving the BAU, though to be honest, I was really focused on finishing my paperwork to go home. (Y/N) had left as soon as we reached DC, but I had stayed a little longer.
I hesitated for a few seconds before I took a few steps closer and waved at Seaver. She looked at me surprised, as soon as she saw me, but didn't move. I smiled, trying to look friendly, and sat next to her.
- "Hi. What are you doing here?"- I asked her, and she shrugged.
- "I was going to go home, but I think I sat here half an hour ago and haven't been able to move,"- I turned to her and shook my head.
- "Do you want to eat something?"- after what had happened at the jet, I figured Ashley wasn't feeling so good, and maybe talking with someone could help her. She looked at me and blushed; I don't know why. But at least, she smiled and nodded.
- "Great, pizza?"
- "Pizza sounds good."
We were waiting for our food and making small talk. I kept giving Ashley pizza facts to fill the silence 'cos it was weird hanging out with Ashley. I didn't know her, really. We had worked a case together, but that didn't mean I knew her. And, of course, we had the whole jet incident. I felt a little guilty about what had happened, though it wasn't my fault at all in retrospect. I just felt like it was my job cheering her up a little bit after everything she had gone through.
- "How do you do it?"- she asked me all of a sudden- "How do you deal with the pressure of this job?"
- "You get used to it, I guess. I don't know if it's a good thing to get used to, but... it comes with the job, I think,"- I didn't know if I was doing ok comforting her. Then again, I have never been particularly good at it. Not then, not now.
- "Did you always dream about doing this?"- she asked me, and her eyes locked into mine in a way that made me feel slightly uncomfortable.
- "Y... yes. Ever since I was a kid, catching the bad guys,"- Seaver nodded and sipped her coke- "You? Why did you get into the academy?"
I regretted my question right after I asked, just 'cos I realized she might have done it to understand her father's behavior. It was only apparent that had shaped her actions.
- "I guess you know that..."- Ashley answered and smiled, her eyes looking straight into mine. I know I blushed. She is a beautiful woman, though I wasn't thinking about her that way. It was an odd feeling being observed that way.
I was glad our pizza made it to the table, and we were forced to stop talking, and I could focus on anything else but her. Not that I didn't want to look at her, but... I think the right way to explain it is to call it "uneasy." That's how I felt. I wanted to be friendly with her, she had a horrible experience consulting with the team, and I was sure she wasn't really having a good day.
- "This might sound weird, but... do you think I can call you sometime?"- Ashley asked after a few minutes. We were eating and talking about nothing important. I nearly chook at her words and looked at her, nodding.
- "Sure, why?"- I didn't mean to be rude. I just didn't know why she might need to talk to me again.
- "I just think maybe you could help me with a few assignments at the academy."
- "Yeah, of course."
Ashley Seaver smiled and nodded at me, pleased. She took a sip of Sprite, and I could read her, trying to find the words to continue speaking.
- "I'm glad. I was sure you were going to say no."
- "Why?"- I furrowed my brows, confused- "I'm not a big fan of phones, but I can handle a casual phone call."
- "No, I just didn't think your girlfriend would like... I mean, I think (Y/N) hates me, and as her boyfriend, I thought you... would... I don't know."
- "I'm, we are... we,"- I was completely flustered as I tried to rearrange my thoughts. Seaver looked at me innocently and waited for my words.
- "(Y/N) isn't my girlfriend"- it bothered me to admit that simple fact. Why? 'Cos it hurt to think we looked like a couple, but we weren't. Why did Seaver think we were together?
- "Really? But..."
- "She is my best friend,"- I explained poorly. She nodded and hesitated before saying what she was thinking. It was obvious she was trying to arrange the words in her head.
- "It's just that you two... sorry, I'm overstepping,"- Ashley blushed and shook her head- "She is... strong."
- "Yes, very."
- "I think I started with the wrong foot with her."
- "Well, I don't mean to justify anything, but if your father hurt,"- I made a pause, trying to find a way to say it that wasn't so painful.
- "Killed. My father killed her aunt,"- she corrected me with a cold and monotonous tone of voice. I just nodded and sipped my water.
- "She is an amazing person,"- I don't know if I was trying to excuse (Y/N)'s earlier behavior or if I just loved her so much I needed to tell people how awesome she was.
- "I'm sure you will pass this,"- I assured her- "Once you get to know her, and she gets to know you."
- "I don't think she will give me that chance. Besides, I was just clear to assist with only one case."
- "If you want to stay, you can request your remedial training be here. And if Hotch approves it, I could talk to (Y/N). I'm sure she will like to know you better."
Why did I say all that? I had no idea.
- "Thank you, Spence. You are really sweet,"- Ashley moved closer and held my hand. I stayed very still, absolutely awkward.
- "Yeah, I don't... like... holding hands,"- I quickly moved it away and tried to smile at her. She stayed still, not understanding my reaction but trying to act normal.
- "Sorry."
- "That's ok. I'm a germaphobe, that's all."
After pizza, we left the place and said goodnight. I told Ashley I was weary (which was, in fact, the truth) and got her a cab to take her home. After that, I walked to my place. I felt like I needed to be alone for a while. My head was overwhelmed, and in the latest couple of weeks, I had severe trouble sleeping.
I had migraines that nearly blinded me. I was scared they meant I could develop the first signs of schizophrenia, like mom, 'cos they were coming more and more often. It wasn't that bad yet, the light didn't hurt my eyes, and I didn't have any sign of hallucination, but still, I knew it could be serious.
I tried to think of a reason why I might be having those severe headaches. I was eating correctly, mostly 'cos (Y/N) forced me to eat. No, she didn't force me, but she made sure I had all my meals at work, not just coffee. And usually, at the weekends, we would spend our time together, and she was a fantastic cook. So it wasn't an alimentary issue.
I wasn't sleeping well. That wasn't new, but it was getting serious. I wrote and read a lot at night 'cos I couldn't fall asleep until late. I didn't know why. I just couldn't rest. My body ached, and my brain wouldn't sleep. The only nights I could actually get some rest were the ones when (Y/N) stayed with me. It was a blessing when Hotch paired us to share rooms, 'cos I could easily fall asleep when she was around. Her presence soothed me in a way that I didn't understand. Let me put it this way, I know it might sound cheesy, but the beating of her heart set the rhythm for my own, and at night it would bring me peace.
I reached home that night and sighed. I knew I wasn't going to rest easy. (Y/N) wasn't there with me. So I made myself a cup of herbal tea, (Y/N) had a lot of those in my house, and I drank them when I missed her. The smell coming from the cup made me feel like she was close.
How pathetic I had become! But I could only share those thoughts with myself. No one knew I had feelings for her, and I was going to deny it till the end, no matter what had JJ said. I couldn't take that phone call from my mind, and on those sleepless nights, I kept overthinking and overanalyzing everything.
I got into bed with a few books and my cup of herbal tea. I took a look at my cell phone, two new messages.
- "I miss u"
(Y/N) sent, and a warm feeling spread on my chest as I imagined her whispering those words as I read them
- "Breakfast tomorrow before work?"
- "See you at seven-thirty."
I typed and sent it.
What could ever happen if I told her how much in love I am with her? I would lose her, and I'd be alone. She didn't feel that way for me. It was a fact. I was just glad she was my best friend, and I could share everything with her. Was I pathetic? Yes, very, but in a way, it felt it was just all I deserved. Not more, not less. Just being in love with a girl who didn't love me back.
At least she wasn't dating Paul anymore. I hated that guy.
(Y/N)'s point of view
Spencer was waiting for me outside our usual coffee shop, already holding two cups of coffee. His short hair looked dreamy as she smiled and took off his sunglasses. It had to be illegal being that hot. But, seriously, how didn't he get laid? He was fucking dreamy. In the four years we had been best friends, I saw Spencer in many hairstyles, and each of them made him look like a model.
Falling in love with Spencer Reid had been a process I hadn't actually been fully aware of. But I was completely conscious I needed to hide those feelings from him and from everybody at the BAU.
Ok, fine, I had somehow faced part of those feelings in front of my drunk best buddies at Penelope's house, but I never actually confirmed anything. I had just... shared some of my frustrations, I guess.
- "Good morning, honey bunny,"- I smiled and sighed as I stood in front of Spencer, watching him grin back at me and hand me one of the coffee cups.
- "Good morning, chipmunk. Did you get some rest?"
- "Yes, I fell asleep as soon as I reached my bed. I was exhausted."
- "I'm glad you are fully rested."
- "What did you do yesterday?"
- "Nothing,"- he answered quickly and turned around- "I got you a carrot muffin to go."
- "Thank you so much. I'm starving. I didn't even have dinner yesterday."
- "Really?"
- "I told you, I reached home and crawled into my bed."
We walked outside the coffee shop in silence. Spencer bit his donuts, and I ate my muffin. It was nice and calming being with him doing domestic things in life.
I hated how much in love I was with him 'cos I knew I had to shake that feeling away. He was never going to have feelings for me. I was a regular human being, and Spencer Walter Reid was a genius. He deserved better, he was actually never to think about me that way, and I refused to ruin our friendship with those feelings.
- "So, Comic-con is coming. What are we doing this year?"- I asked as I drove us to Quantico.
- "I was thinking we should do something classic,"- he looked at me, nearly beaming on his seat- "We haven't done Star Wars yet."
- "Really?"- I frowned, confused- "All these years? Are you sure?"
- "(Y/N), eidetic memory,"- he argued, and I chuckled- "So, how do you feel about Leia?"
- "Do I have to be Leia 'cos I'm a girl?"- I asked him, and he flustered right away.
- "What? No, you can be whoever you want to be. I was just, it came to my mind... I didn't,"- I giggled and looked at him for a second.
- "I'm messing with you, Batsy. I always wanted to dress as Leia. Surprisingly, I never had. Padme once, it was a mess, but never Leia. Who are you planning to be?"
- "Maybe Luke... or Obi-Wan. Morgan suggested C3PO once."
- "If I'm Leia, you should be Han,"- I don't know why I said that out loud. I thought about it, I pictured it in my head, but I knew I shouldn't have said it. Then why did those words leave my mouth? I don't know.
- "Han Solo... yes... yeah, sure. Of course! We can pick our outfits this weekend."
- "Great! What do you think would look better? Slave Leia or classic all in white Leia?"- Spencer didn't answer. He just sipped his coffee and looked outside the window.
- "You would look good in both,"- his cellphone interrupted our conversations, and I thought it might be a case. But I was so wrong, it hurt.
- "Hello? Oh, hi, Ashley,"- I nearly hit the break as soon as I heard him saying her name, but instead, I turned around and looked at him.
- "Good, yes. On my way to work with (Y/N). Oh, that's good."
I didn't care what she was saying. I just needed to know why that bitch was calling him. I was blind in jealousy, and I was having a hard time hiding it.
- "Really? Emily? That's... that's great. Sure, we'll see you around, gotta go. Bye."
- "What the fuck?"- I swear, I didn't think what I was saying. Those words just slip through my lips straight from my guts. I hated Seaver.
- "That was Ashley."
- "Figured when you said "Hi Ashley." What? Are you best friends with her now?"
- "What? No! No way! She just wanted to say hi... and... She.... asked for my number 'cos she wanted to help her with some of the academy's projects,"- Spencer was so nervous he actually stuttered as he answered my simple question.
- "Of course, she did,"- my voice was bitter and hurt, but most of all, ironic. And I don't know if Spencer didn't want to understand me or actually didn't get the hint, but he just continued talking.
- "She wanted to tell me she requested her remedial training be at the BAU."
- "What?!"- that wasn't subtle. I actually yelled- "I'm gonna have to see her again?"
- "If Hotch approves..."
- "Fuck!! That's awful!!"- I hit the wheel, frustrated.
- "She's not a bad person, (Y/N). Her dad was a murderer, but that doesn't mean..."- I turned to look at Spencer for a second, and he just shut up- "Sorry."
- "I don't like her, Spencer."
- "Yes, I know."
- "Her dad killed my aunt!!"
- "I know..."
- "And on top of that, that bitch is..."
I had to bite my lips and focus on the road, actually holding my breath for a few seconds, just not to open my mouth and ruin it all.
The main reason why I hated Ashley Seaver wasn't just because of what her father had done. That itself was enough to keep her away. But on top of that, she was flirting with Spencer. She wasn't even subtle about it; she was nearly all over him. I saw her! She wanted him, and he had no idea! He was blind to her attention. Unless he liked it. Did he? Shit, I hoped not.
- "She what?"- Spencer whispered, scared of my reaction.
- "She plays the pity card the whole time. Bad things happen to all of us. You don't have to make it who you are, she does, and she expects sympathy."
I grabbed my muffin and took a big bite of it. Spencer sighed and stayed quiet for a moment, giving me space to decompress, I think.
- "Did you know the origins of carrot cake are disputed by many countries?"- I looked at Spencer, and he nodded- "Many food historians believe carrot cake originated from the English recipe of carrot puddings, eaten by Europeans in the Middle Ages when sugar and sweeteners were expensive, and many people used carrots as a substitute for sugar."
- "My mom would fight all those historians and convince them she invented it. Her carrot cake is the best."
- "And I would agree, the cake she baked for your last birthday was amazing."- I nodded and heard him chuckle as I kept my eyes on the road. I wanted to focus on the memories of my last birthday and how fun it was, but something was bugging me.
- "And why did she call you to tell you what she wanted to do?"- I parked the car outside the BAU and turned to Spencer. He opened his mouth, but no word came from it. So I asked him again.
- "Honey, why did Seaver call you to announce she would take the remedial training at the BAU?"
- "It... might... had been my idea,"- he whispered and held his satchel tight against his body. I didn't know what to say. I couldn't believe it.
- "Why on earth did you do that, Spencer?!"- I shouted as I got out of the car, grabbed my purse, my clean go bag in case we had a case, and started walking towards the building.
- "It wasn't like a suggestion. She just..."
- "I can't believe it!!"
- "It doesn't have to be that bad! It's just for a few weeks..."
- "Hopefully, Hotch won't accept."
- "(Y/N), come on,"- Spencer held my hand and stopped me- "This is not like you. Yeah, you don't like her, but you are making it a big deal, and it's not."
- "I'm starting to think you are crushed on her,"- I didn't want to say those words. They just slipped.
- "What!? Why? No!! I'm not!"- the high pitch on Spencer's voice was a clear sign of how uncomfortable he was with the conversation.
- "Then why are you defending her?"
- "I am not! I'm just saying maybe you are acting a little bit... irrational about this whole thing. She hasn't done anything bad."
- "Other than jeopardizing the whole case yesterday?"
- "Right, other than that..."
I felt Spencer's hand in mine, and I swear, I couldn't stop thinking about how it felt. It kept sending shivers all over my body. His thumb rubbed small circles on my skin, probably trying to calm me down, and it worked. I followed it with my eyes for a second as I took a few deep breaths and nodded.
- "Ok, I won't make a big deal if she stays."
- "Thank you."
- "Just... don't ask me to be her friend."
- "You don't have to be her friend."
Spencer stood in front of me and smiled. I swear all I could think of was kissing him. And a part of me felt it was getting harder and harder to resist. He put on his sunglasses and kept his hand in mine for a moment until Penelope's voice took us from our little bubble.
- "Good morning, my wonder babies!! Ready to fight crime?"
I actually didn't know what I was getting into.
Hotch had taken the day off. We were around the one-year anniversary of Haley's death, and according to what Rossi explained to us, Jack wasn't feeling so good. It was said it would be just a day or two, but I had the feeling it might be a couple of weeks. Hotch would always put himself second, but he would do whatever it took to keep him safe when it came to his son.
Morgan had been asked to take a trip to Petersburg Federal Correctional Complex to do a risk assessment on a case, so Spencer, Prentiss, and I were in the bullpen. Garcia was in her office, and Rossi was in a meeting with Strauss. I'd say it was a very calm morning, catching up with all the pending paperwork we had. Spencer had just gotten me a cup of coffee when I heard Seaver's cheerful voice.
- "Hi guys!"- she walked in with a big smile and waved- "How are you?"
Spencer looked at me as we all said our hellos. I could almost read "Please, be nice" written all over his face, and for a moment, I was willing to do as told. I didn't want him to suspect why I was so annoyed by her after all.
- "I talked to Hotch"- Emily smiled at Seaver and moved a chair for her- He signed off your remedial training, and I'll be your training agent. I'll supervise your work. I already told Rossi too, so it's official.
Ashley jumped from her chair and hugged Emily. I rolled my eyes and stared at the file on my desk. I really wasn't ready to deal with her. I wasn't prepared to deal with someone trying to steal Spencer from me.
Ok, Spencer wasn't mine to keep, but we had been inseparable for four years, and I didn't want to lose that. I didn't want to lose him.
I had never been ready to deal with Spencer dating other girls. The few times girls had hit on him had been awful. Once, Morgan took him to a club when we were on a case, 'cos the unsub was picking his victims there, and he taught him how to pick up girls. The bartender ended up giving him her number 'cos my dorky best friend was charming. Derek still remembered that moment from time to time, quoting it as "The day he turned Spencer into a man."
I loved Derek, but fuck, I hated him sometimes.
- "Welcome to the team,"- Spencer waved at Seaver from his desk and turned to me, raising an eyebrow.
- "Yeah, welcome,"- I added and cut her a short smile.
- "I'm thrilled to join you guys for a few weeks. I always dreamt of being here. I'm ready for making it up after the last case."
- "Don't be so hard on yourself,"- Prentiss interrupted her and smiled friendly- "You remained calm under pressure, and the case was solved. That's all that matters."
I had to control myself not to snort after Emily's words. Instead, I kept my eyes locked on my desk like I had done before. I was so focused on it that I could have actually developed telekinesis skills and moved the freaking file with my eyes.
- "I just wanted to say thank you to all of you,"- Seaver's voice was soft, in a mix of fear, excitement, and... something else I couldn't read.
- "Especially you, Spencer. I really enjoyed our talk last night, and I have the feeling I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. Thank you for the pizza. I owe you dinner."
- "Don't, it was nothing,"- Spencer flustered and stood up quickly, grabbing his pile of files and walking away, arguing he needed to ask Garcia something.
I did my best not to move a muscle. I didn't want Seaver to know how much I hated the fact she had shared what seemed to be a lovely evening with Spencer. One he didn't actually mention when we talked about what we had done the previous evening. Why did he decide to keep me in the dark? I couldn't understand that. Maybe he just didn't want me to know he actually had feelings for Seaver. Maybe he had asked her out, and because he knew I hated her (though he really didn't know why), he decided not to tell me what was going on.
I had been wasting all that time in love with Spencer. I knew I would never act on those feelings, and clearly, he didn't have feelings for me. So... maybe it was time to let him go.
How could I let Spencer Reid go when I never actually had him?

My Masterlist
Part 5 to Cracking a Code
1;  2;  3;  4
Pairing: dark!Steve Rogers x Reader (fem)
Warnings: Swearing, gaslighting, stalking, aftermath of noncon, noncon touching, caregiving, but like by Steve, so not really, self-harm references (previous chapter, not premeditated), discussion of eating
Summary: Steve takes you home to “take care” of you.
A/n: I’m not super happy with this chapter… and maybe I’ll redo it sometime in the future, but I just wanted to give you an update. Sorry, that everything takes so long!
Word count: 2,300
The rest of the drive passed in a blur. Steve’s hand hardly left your thigh and you let him. You were so exhausted, you didn’t have the energy to fight him off anymore. You felt yourself retreating into your body, away from the reality of being groped in the fancy sports car of America’s bravest hero.
Steve helped you up the steps to your apartment. You’re entire body was shaking, leaving you on unsteady feet. If you didn’t know better you’d say you were coming down with a fever. But the reason for the shivers coursing through you was so much larger. Not something a few pills could fix. Steve gently led you into your home, almost as if he owned the place, deposited you on the couch, and covered you in a blanket. As he tucked you in, his hands respectful and his touch kind you surfaced for a brief second out of the hole of despair his comment in the car had put you in.
“There you are, angel.” Steve smiled as he noticed how your eyes started to focus a bit. “I’ll make you something to eat. I’ll be right back.” With that, he leaned in and placed the gentlest kiss on your forehead, before retreating to your kitchen. You watched him rummage around in the tiny space adjoining your living room. He looked at ease, at home, and oh so loving. Did yesterday really happen? you wondered. There they were again. Those thoughts you had to brandish all day yesterday as well. You started to stare off into the middle distance; once more slipping away from reality and the physical pain left in your body. You heard Steve tut slightly, the fridge door opening and closing, then the same sound from a bunch of your cabinet doors. Just as you wanted to call out to him, to ask if he needed help, a robotic response drilled into you by your mother, Steve appeared before you almost as if out of thin air. His gait as silent as any other predator’s.
“Darling,” he sounded concerned, “did you eat yet?”
You looked up at him, doe-eyed. “I.. uh… I must have. I have some overnight oats in the fridge, so if there are only three glasses in there, then yeah.” To be honest you couldn’t remember, nothing made sense.
“There’s four, darling… You really gotta eat breakfast! It’s important to keep your strength up, you know?”
“Yeah, yeah… I usually do. I promise” Why do I not wanna make him sad? Why do I want him to be proud of me? You thought bewildered, as you looked into Steve’s worried eyes before all semblance of structured thought left you again to the tide of confusion washing over you and pulling you under.
“Ok, babe, I trust you. I’ll make some now, okay? You just sit tight.” All you could do was nod. It was like it was all happening to someone else. You weren’t really here. You were so far away and so present at the same time that it hurt.
As Steve left you your mind went to war with itself.
Steve wasn’t a good guy. He wasn’t the hero on those posters, was he? But he was making you breakfast, he tucked you in. He sent Bucky to check on you. No… No, he sent Bucky to make sure you didn’t go to the police. Right? Right.
You could feel your mind shut off, drawing you down with it. All that happened, Steve’s non-linear behavior pushing you over the edge. Nothing made sense.
You barely noticed as Steve fed you breakfast, bite by bite, all that registered somewhere deep within you was his calm, deep guiding voice: “One more bite, there you go, good girl” all his encouragement mushing together in your brain, a soothing sensation flowing through your pain-addled brain.
After breakfast, you could feel Steve manipulate your body, as he wrapped himself around you and put on your favorite movie. As you lay there engulfed in the arms of this giant man, accompanied by the sounds of the movie you had watched a million times, you slowly started to become aware of yourself again. The body heat was so soothing and Steve’s deep humming voice pushed the fear that had kept you paralyzed further and further away. Making way for a seething rage, fickle but growing. As you tensed and readjusted your limbs Steve leaned forwards and kissed your temple. “I knew you were still in there, angel. I made some tea. It should still be hot. I put it in a thermos. Let’s talk okay?” Steve carefully helped you sit, every touch his, stoking the anger burning through you. Then, oblivious to the shift in your mood, he got up to grab the tea and cups as you looked around as if you were seeing your place for the first time. It no longer held the feeling of safety that comes with any good home. All you could see was Steve controlling you, in the TV that was slightly turned, the smell of his cologne on your couch, the dirty pans in the sink.
When Steve came back, your head was much clearer and you carefully reached for your cup and made sure to keep your distance from Steve as subtly as you could. Whatever was to come, was going to be important.
“You know darling, you will have to be nicer to Bucky. He’s only trying to help when I can’t be there. New York is dangerous, always has been. No one knows that better than me and Buck. He texted me, saying you were really rude on the train this morning, and quite frankly, darling, I’m disappointed that I even have to say this, but you have to appreciate what we do for you, okay?” Steve’s voice is calm, collected, and rational. There is nothing but honest concern in it for a moment it disrupts the anger building within you. “It’s time to play nice with Bucky now, okay? Be nice to him, maybe even as nice as you have been for me, understand?”
It’s the last sentence that sets you off, Steve’s expectant gaze, belittling you, that makes you blow your lid.
“What? What are you talking about? Play nice? I wasn’t being nice to you! I don’t want your protection or your attention, or Bucky’s for that matter!” Your voice is rising, as you grip your cup of tea so tight its heat sears your palms. “Get out of my life!” you yell. Then like a bucket of cold water realization sets in. Every muscle in Steve’s body tightens, you see his body expand with the change, looming over you, blacking out the window. You expect Steve to yell, beat you up, but when you dare to look up at his face, it is almost passive, but there is danger burning beneath his façade.
“I understand this is difficult for you.” Steve’s voice turns harder with every word. You notice the missing pet name like a slap to your face. “But I am getting pretty tired of this conversation. You need to rain in that attitude of yours, okay? Because I won’t tolerate you being a spoiled brat who doesn’t see what’s best for them. I’m looking out for you here, taking care of you, something you apparently struggle with,” with that Steve gestures at the remnants of your breakfast, the one he had to make for you, “and all I expect in return is some gratitude, towards me and towards Bucky. This is not up for discussion. And if you can’t behave, you’ll have to deal with the consequences, young lady. Is that understood?” By the end of his speech, Steve has risen to his feet, towering over you, his voice booming to fill your apartment, while you cower into the sofa. Your breathing is shallow and you are petrified. It feels too much like last night. When you didn’t have a choice either. And everything he was saying was making sense. New York was dangerous. And you really were terrible at feeding yourself correctly… Those oat thingies were just the newest thing you were trying in your never-ending quest to live more healthily… Usually, your job took preference over clean living. And Bucky hadn’t done anything to you either. He’d just been there to watch out for you… Steve, well… Steve really had done that, but he also held you today, when your brain shut down and made you food. He could have just left you at work, where you surely would’ve gotten nothing done or even caused trouble if you fucked up your work…
Shakily you nod and watch some of the tension leave Steve’s body and he crouches down in front of you. “Good, I knew you were smart like that. Now we can either go have a bath and soothe your body or you can freak out again and then I swear I’ll make you bear the consequences of your behavior for real this time. So what’s it gonna be, princess?”
You stare at him for a second. How is he so rational? Why does this all make sense? Authority has always been your weakness, and so you just nod because what the Captain says goes, and you learned that the hard way, and let Steve lead you to the bathroom. Maybe you will get to lay in his arms again and hear him praise you. It felt so good when he held you on the couch. You were safe in his arms. All you want is to be back in his embrace. Where the harsh reality can’t hurt you. So you allow Steve to strip you down, as hot water pours into your tub.
Suddenly Steve’s grip on your hip tightens painfully, as yanks your jeans off of you. You look down, scared, and find him staring at the bruises you must have caused yourself in the shower this morning when you were trying to wash the night away. “What is this? Explain, now!” he seethes and turns his scorching gaze towards you.
“I, when I showered, I, I just wanted to get clean…” you stammer.
“Clean? Clean! You hurt yourself! Jeez! How dare you do something like that to yourself? I really can’t let you out of my sight for one second, can I? Gotta watch you like a little kid!”
You feel a pang in your heart. You weren’t trying to be bad! You want to tell Steve, but he just turns off the water, grabs your upper arm, and drags you from the bathroom into your bedroom. As you stumble after him, you try to figure out what is happening.
“Steve?” you plead as he sits down on the bed and puts you over his lap.
“No, darling, not anymore. I have been way too kind to you so far, but apparently, the nice approach doesn’t work with you. So discipline is what you get.” He thunders, and then his hand is hitting your bum with enough force to make you scream. It happened so fast that your head is spinning.
As you lie across his lap everything felt like it’s wrapped in cotton. So much skin-to-skin contact fries your over-worked and touch-starved brain into submission as Steve’s hand is raining down on your ass, painting it crimson. You burst into tears without any control over yourself. “Steve,” you sob, “Steve please, I didn’t mean to, I swear, Steve!” and just as those words leave your mouth, he stops, picks you up, and hugs you close. Your nerve endings sing at the close contact and you sag into him, all tension leaving your body. His hands draw soothing circles on your back as he holds you tight.
“I got you baby.” Steve whispers as he settles you on the bed, “I know that hurt, but I needed you to see, you know?”
You cry and nod, burrowing into his hulking form hovering over you.
“I’ll make it better baby, I’ll make it all good, now,” Steve murmurs, as he leans in to kiss your forehead, while his right hand comes down and starts to play with your clit. “Oh darling, look at you! You’re already wet for me, aren’t you?” Only then do you register the slick coating your thighs, embarrassed you want to turn from him, but Steve cages you in. “It’s okay babe, no reason to be shy about it. There is nothing wrong with wanting your man. Really, it just shows that you understand my discipline with you. I’m real proud of you, angel, real proud.” He mutters as he spreads your lips and slips two fingers in. You can’t help but moan and arch into him.
Steve is nothing but kind and soft with you as he readjusts both of your bodies until he sinks into your heat, and you both moan in unison. “There we go, darling. See how good I can be for you? There we go.” As he starts moving, slow and deep within you peace settles over you. “I’ll make you forget all that pain, babe, it’ll all be gone in just a minute now.” His fingers are rubbing circles around your clit while he keeps murmuring sweet encouragements into your ears as you climb and climb towards an orgasm that is so deep that it leaves you boneless in Steve’s arms until he finishes with a broken grunt deep inside of you. As Steve settles you in his arms after you can’t remember the last time you felt this sated, as you drift into a deep sleep with Steve’s spend slowly trickling out of you. For a split second, before you fall asleep the horror of what is happening to you is clear in your mind, but then, thankfully, once more your exhaustion pulls you under.

hi! i’ve recently decided to rewatch all the star wars movies and take notes on them and then,,, share them with you. so if you’re even mildly interested in my star wars opinions, here you go :)
i’ll divide it into a couple categories so,,,
well start with rogue one!!
shit that made me giggle
"oh look, here’s lyra back from the dead. it’s a miracle."
everything K2 says and does. i love him and he’s perfect.
i love the continuous attempts by K2 to appear imperial and how he fails every time. not a single storm trooper or officer ever believes him when he starts running his mouth.
so sorry but bohdi getting his cable caught and trying to shake it loose is such an adorably human moment. makes me giggle every time.
i honestly thought this section would be longer, this movie made me laugh a bunch.
stuff i don’t like or doesn’t make sense
why does jyn start believing in the rebellion? there’s no indication that she cared before they found her. there’s no real turning point that we can see. she just,,, suddenly is really into this shit. which is strange because the only reason she ever joined was because she was given a non-choice (either help or get put back in prison). i guess i can kinda see how her father dying could have changed her, but we see none of that on the ship after his death. we just get to the rebel council and all of a sudden she’s the poster girl for rebellion.
saw seems really stable at the beginning of the film, so why did he go seemingly crazy and paranoid? it’s probably explained in the novelization but that’s no excuse to just have a character go crazy with really no explanation or backstory.
that being said, a lot of the character development is pretty lacking. i don’t think i’d care about these characters nearly as much if i wasn’t already a star wars fan.
video game cut scene style general tarkin
bor gullet is supposed to make you lose your mind but bohdi was pretty much fine after like,,, a day
how does the death star,,,, move?? like i know it can but has that ever been explained? is it like little thrusters? like the ones you can see in real life to stabilize things in space? there’s nothing i can visually see. i’m not mad about it i just wanna know.
why does saw insist on staying behind? why doesn’t he come and help?? it would have been so easy to just leave but he insists on staying behind and just watching as death inches closer. i think it doesn’t make sense because we know *so little* about his character. give me more on him, make me understand.
since james earl jones is getting older, vader sounds older. was there??? nothing the audio or editing department could have done about that??? not super mad about this one just because darth vader is really cool and i’ll never really complain too much about darth vader screen time.
when the fuck did jyn become a motivational speaker??
my one gripe about pretty much every star wars movie is the sheer number of times people climb through huge shafts and jump around and shit and they’re always *fine*. no way they wouldn’t fall to their deaths in any normal situations.
can someone?? check the science of the hammerhead corvette?? because there’s no gravity or weight in space right?? theoretically all you gotta do is give that star destroyer a bump and it’s spinning out, right?? i know absolutely nothing about space physics but i gotta be right. maybe i’m wrong. i dunno. i’m dumb as rocks. hear that baby girl?? it’s the spare change rattling around in my skull. i got pennies where my brain is.
absolutely no fucking shot cassian survived a blaster hit AND that fall AND climbed out. my belief simply cannot be suspended that much.
DUDE I FORGOT THAT THE DEATH STAR CAN TRAVEL THROUGH HYPERSPACE HOW DOES WORK SOMEONE TELL ME!!!!!
why doesn’t vader just,,, force grab the plans. i know he sees them. why not just force stop the guy running away with them??
final note now that the movie is over. yes, it’s got a lot of issues. the plot is ehhh at times. the trailers don’t match up with the movie shots AT ALL (i wanna know what happened behind the scenes with that). the character development is lacking in many major ways (that has not stopped me from loving these characters though, but that’s the autism talking). but like i’ll say in the "stuff i liked" section, this is such a damn cool movie. i was once talking about it with an older friend of mine and he said seeing rogue one in theaters felt like watching the original trilogy in theaters back in the 70s and 80s and honestly that’s such a compliment. i love this movie, i really do.
just cool shit,,, you know the vibe
DEATH TROOPERS
krennic is probably one of my favorite imperial officers. for some reason he just really sells it for me, the evil and manipulation that borderlines in try hard. and (i mention it more later because you see it more in the "choke on your aspirations" scene) beyond that just the fact that he’s?? a guy. just a dude. at any given moment he could be described as just hanging out. but he’s trying so hard (for whatever reason, we don’t know his evil motivations) to be this big bad evil dude. and it’s just interesting to see someone *trying* to be imperial and *trying* to be evil, as opposed to a tarkin-type character who’s just naturally an asshole.
i love the rogue one main theme. don’t even talk to me. it’s so cool.
it’s cool to see more about the birth of the death star, seeing other people learn about it. sort of realizing the fear and terror that everyone must have been experiencing. especially after being a star wars fan for so long and being like, yeah it’s the death star it’s just a staple of this universe. it reminds me that "oh god this was a planet killer and this was the first time something like that had ever even been heard of".
there’s gorgeous visuals in this movie.
i like the "i’m wanted in 12 systems" guy cameo (did you know his name is cornelius? i googled it)
when the storm trooper asks for papers?? like fuck yeah show me what life is like under imperial rule. give me that shit.
chirrut is so badass i’ll never get over it
"i’m one with the force and the force is with me" i’m eating that shit UP! salivating over the meal in front of me. i really want more exploration of the guardians and jedi worship in general. like gimme that weird funky space religion.
seeing an at-st just walk around a town. i dunno i like that shit.
K2 saying sorry for hitting cassian. i’m so soft on this robot.
"clear of hostiles,,,, ONE HOSTILE"
jyn stepping in front of K2 to protect him after she (not ten minutes ago) made the comment “i’m just afraid they’ll miss you and hit me”. jyn,,, your soft side is showing,,,,
i like the cool machine blaster that baze has. it’s awesome seeing different blaster styles when originally the only variation we really saw was chewie’s cross bow style blaster.
i really wanna see more of baze and cirruit. i wanna know what happened that made baze stop believing. i wanna know how they met. i wanna see them evolve and grow together.
i like that jyn argues that 16 is too young to be a solider (she’s 21 in the movie). i like that she’s mad that she’s young and has been put in a position to protect herself and then later save the galaxy. (for context: luke and leia were 19 in a new hope. anakin is 19 in attack of the clones, ~22 when he became darth vader, and rey is 19 in force awakens. stop putting the fate of the galaxy in the hands of people who are *barely* adults)
the testing of the death star is awesome. love seeing wicked cool space weapons. when it blocks out the sun? ominous as hell fuck yeah.
it’s interesting that baze says cassian doesn’t look like a killer, that "he has the face of a friend", when one of the first things we saw him do was kill a man. i think about that a lot. does that say more about baze’s ability to read people or does it say more about who cassian is deep down, beyond what he’s done to serve the rebellion?
cassian’s relationship with death and killing is very interesting. you could argue that cassian is just as brainwashed and deep in the rebellion as anyone imperial. i really hope it’s something that gets explored in his stand alone show. he mentions he’s lost everything and has been a rebel since he was 6. gimme cassian andor backstory.
"careful not to choke on your aspirations director" is probably some of the most dramatic-anakin-skywalker shit i’ve ever seen vader do
i like seeing rebel infighting. so often it seems there’s always general consensus about what the rebellion wants, but it’s good to see that they don’t always agree on how to rebel.
i love the consistent "found family" rebel alliance shit in these movies. it makes my dick so hard.
ARTOO AND THREEPIO CAMEO FUCK ME UP THOSE ARE MY BOYS
okay i totally get that the empire is evil, i really do, but rogue one (and lots of moments in the sequels) really reminds me how fucking cool some of their shit is. like death troopers? imperial droids like K2? the base on scarif? vader’s castle on mustafar and his bacta tank?? fuck me UP.
i loved hearing the troopers doing their dumb small talk about the T-15s on the beach.
i think ben mendelssohn is perfect for the role of krennic, no notes there. he’s just like?? a guy and he’s doing everything he can to fit into this evil role and he just wants to be like this big bad imperial boy on campus. i don’t know. i don’t have the words right now to express how fuckin awesome he is. i’ll write an essay about it later.
THE AT-AT COMING OUT OF THE MIST?? CHRIST ON A BIKE. LAY ME TO REST. LOVE IT.
fucking love me some female fighter pilots. the women of star wars are so badass. doing justice to my return of the jedi ladies.
i think a whole lot about jyn giving K2 a blaster. the way he takes it and looks at it and holds it so gently. i think that’s the first time a human has trusted him with a blaster since his reprogramming. he seems so appreciative of that trust.
i love seeing the faces of baze and the other rebels when a few of the x-wings show up and take down an at-at. i’m so very soft for the relationship between these rebels. not to be cliche, but the *hope* that they have. it’s so moving. this movie is just so full of that quintessential rebel feeling.
hey so i’m super emotional about the death of K2 okay? because in the novelizations you learn that in the last second k2 had before a full shut down, he ran a simulation where cassian lived and even though he knew it was impossible, it made him happy. FURTHERMORE K2 is very well known and his name is often listed along side jyn’s in terms of talking about the history of the rebellion.
chirrut and baze’s deaths are so important to me. we know they’re best friends, and even though we don’t know how long they’ve been together, they love each other so deeply. chirrut being the path for baze to return to the force? touching. i so wish these dumb force husbands could have had more screen time. baze calling chirrut back?? chirrut telling him to find him in the force?? baze looking to see the man he loves one more time before he dies??reminds me of the silken quote about dying in your best friends arms because it’s all you know. anywho,,, if star wars canon has any mercy then these two lovers are force ghosts together rn. don’t care how you feel or whether you "ship" them or not. love comes in so many forms and they encompass all that love.
terribly sorry but i think about those two star destroyers colliding with the rogue one main theme playing over it every day. it’s,,,,, so,,,, ( ´∀`)
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again BEN MENDELSSOHN??? UH YEAH
krennic watching his weapon (his beautiful, successful weapon) power up and kill him,,, the poetic justice of it all,,,,
any time anyone says "may the force be with you" i dunno maybe it’s my religious trauma but i’m head over heels for that good shit
the star destroyer coming out of hyper space as the rebels are escaping and some of the ships hit the destroyer?? one of my favorite things in the new star wars movies is directors and writers saying "oh this can totally happen" and they DO IT
jyn mentioning earlier in the film that she isn’t used to people sticking around when shit hits the fan and then dying in the arms of cassian?? because he stayed?? and for the first time she has someone??
in that same vein: cassian also says earlier in the film that he lost everything too. his connection with jyn is also important to him, just as important as it is to jyn. they need each other. i can’t remember who on this hellsite said it, but someone mentioned that they hope the stand alone cassian stuff coming out doesn’t make him this swindling playboy who fucks around a bunch. i think having him as more of like?? a mandolorian type character would be really cool. like he’s a rebel assassin: make him one. make him independent and badass and cool and DONT give him a bunch of romantic or sexual interests because then that downplays the clear love he had developing for jyn. again LOVE COMES IN FORMS BEYOND BASIC SHIPS. and there’s a lot of love in star wars.
i’ve said it a million times but vader is so cool and over and over again this movie reminded me that he’s actually so scary. i saw star wars for the first time when i was 6 and i can’t remember my initial reaction to him, but i’ve definitely (like with the death star) been desensitized to the fact that if i was in star wars, darth vader would scare the shit out of me. he’s *scary* and that’s cool. i liked seeing vader effortlessly go fucking mad on these rebels. then you understand why they were so scared in that first scene of a new hope.
no i absolutely will not get over the vader scene. i won’t. his saber turning on. his force abilities. his effortless lightsaber work. the choral music over the scene with the hectic orchestra. don’t touch me i’m emotional.
i loved seeing leia. it touches me so deeply every time.
fuck i love this movie despite all its faults.
if you’ve made it this far, thank you!! i hope you enjoyed. please remember that this is totally a safe space for all star wars opinions and you can feel free to disagree with me! i’d love to hear what some of you thought :))

The Power Couple - hyung line
Pairing: hyung line member x reader
Wordcount: 1.2k words circa, each
Genre: romance scenarios/imagine
Rating: suggested 18+
Hello, my darlings, sorry I didn’t post last week but exam season is insane and I’m seriously struggling :(
Anyways, I’ve been working on these and I hope I’ll be able to write and post the maknae line during the next week.
Did you enjoy Bang Bang Con The Live? I watched it with my ARMY squad and since we were still craving BTS material afterwards we did a 5th muster rewatch, YAY!
Okay, now TRIGGER WARNINGS: not much this week really, just mild allusions to smut, (a bit more descriptive in Yoongi’s piece), there are some more explicit thingies (ahem, collar, leash, generic mention on toys, stress relieving quickie) and milder but possibly sexy thingies (slightly revealing outfits), mild angst in Joon’s piece (namely minor harassment, nothing descriptive). Watch out for: one tense, insecure and lowkey (highkey) kinky Joon, one very soft Jin, one very tired, very whipped Min Suga and the usual energy fluff ball Hobi (also kinky, though)
I love you all, please stay safe <3
Here you can find the maknae line
And here you can find my masterlist
Namjoon
“You know we don’t have to do this.”
You offered him the string. “What if I want them all to know.”
"_____, I love you and I repeat, I will only do this if it's what you want. You have to give this to me. I won't take it from you. I seriously don't want to force this on you." He fixed his tie, loosening it a little. He was nervous. The car was slowly arriving to the venue. A couple more minutes and you would be out, photographers screaming for your attention, celebrities surrounding you, women envying you, men wanting you. It wasn't the first time you attended a red carpet as Namjoon's plus one, but the previous attempt had peaked with a cocky rapper putting his eyes on you, flirting inappropriately while Joon was busy and making you deeply uncomfortable. As a consequence, Joon had kept you close for the rest of the night and had to give up on having you beside him for a couple events after that, since you didn't feel safe enough to attend.
However, this afternoon he had come to your room with a hefty velvet box, looking at you with complete rapture in his eyes.
“You look like a dream come true.”
“I hope it’s a good dream,” you replied, waiting for the stylist to finish fixing your hair in a classy bun.
“A very good one.”
You were wearing matching suits. Regular, black silk suits, tailored exactly the same, the only difference was the fact that you weren’t wearing any shirt underneath your jacket.
“Thank you.”
“I have something for you.” He came closer, the stylist done with your hair, bowing kindly as you made a small bow to her in reply, thanking her for her work.
“I thought we said no jewellery.”
“Well, technically…” He opened the box, showing you a collar of diamonds. “You don’t have to.” He said sheepishly. “Wear it, I mean. And I don’t want people to think that I consider you an animal that needs to be collared, or a possession. I saw it and I thought you would love it.”
“Yes. I love it.” You touched it gently with your fingertip. “I’ll wear it.”
He smiled so brightly that you knew all the negative comments would never cast a shadow on the overwhelming joy he was showing in this moment: you would do unspeakable things to make him smile at you like that.
“Can I put it on you?”
“Yes, sir.” It was half a tease, half an admission of his dominance over you. In the secret language you had created together this meant that you trust him and that you allow him to take complete control over you, that he is entitled to do whatever he wants with you. It was also a way to reassure yourself that he would protect you tonight, that he wouldn’t leave your side and that he would take care of you. That no man would ever lay his eyes and hands on you tonight.
He clasped it easily around your neck, the measure just right, and you suspected he knew because of the way he uses his hands on your neck, randomly, sometimes to soothe you and support you, some others to arouse you and gain his own pleasure.
The tension on your shoulders eased a little as you saw your reflection in the mirror. There was no doubt you belonged to him, that you were his. Still, some anxiety snaked in your belly.
“I don’t really wanna push my luck,” he said, looking down, breaking eye contact, “but I had a small thing made to match the… necklace.”
You looked at him curiously. “Can I see?”
“I know you won’t judge me but I feel very vulnerable about this and I thought we should talk it out before you…”
“I love you.” You whispered, calming his gibbering. “Show me.”
He lifted the board where the necklace laid, showing another compartment of the box were a snaky string laid, all coiled up. You took it and unwrapped it.
A leash.
He looked at you. “You don’t have to say yes, we can use it another time, or not use it at all.”
It means guidance, belonging, discipline. All things you needed tonight.
“Yes.” You told him, confidence sparking in your eyes.
That night, when you walked down the red carpet you felt nothing but the cold sensation of the metal around your neck, and the scorching pride in Namjoon’s eyes.
Journalists asked questions, people took pictures, but the only thing that mattered was what you felt: you were Namjoon’s equal, with your identical suits, and at the same time you were his beloved pet, someone he would cherish, guide, defend and protect.
Seokjin
“Ready?”
“Yup.” Seokjin smiled a tight lipped smile and wrapped an arm around your waist.
“God, they won’t take their eyes off of you.”
Tonight you were supposed to attend a film premiere of one of Jin’s friends. It got you slightly uncomfortable, since it was your first official event with him as a couple. Of course ARMY had already seen you a few times since the official announcement of your relationship, once at the airport, as you came back from a quick getaway you and Jin had taken, then then in a bunch of pictures, and then during a vlive, when you had taken a small visit to say hi and introduce yourself, letting Jin lead you through the whole event and giving you the cue when he thought he needed some alone time with his fans. He had been very tactful in the whole revealing, hiding you enough to protect you from harmful stalkers, but also introducing you to ARMY like a single dad would present his girlfriend to his child.
“Is the dress inappropriate?”
“No. You’re stunning. I love it.” He pressed his nose to your temple. “I’m just worried.”
You leaned softly into him.
“There’s so much skin here...” He let one finger slide down the curve of your neck. “Everyone will be looking.” He kissed behind your ear. “You could wear a rubbish bag and they would still be looking.” He wished he had more skin to touch, but he was also grateful your body was pretty much covered up, the delicate green dress exposing nothing but your collarbones, with long chiffon sleeves, the corset decorated with a leaf embroidery, stopping just above your waist and then flowing down in lush emerald waves.
“I’m glad I wore my white suit.” He commented,
“You look incredible, love.” You complimented him.
“I needed to show them I deserve you.”
You laughed. “I’m the one who needs to one-up her game to match you.”
The back of the limo was quiet as you created that special space of communion and comfort you naturally slip in when you’re both silent.
“You’ll be by my side all night, right?” You murmured, worried. “There’s a lot of people and I feel like such an outsider...”
“Right beside you.” He comforted you. “So they can’t snatch you from me.”
You both giggled, his voice betraying his anxiety. “It will take a major calamity to get me away from you.”
“Like a very big magnet.” You frowned. “You know, attraction.” Your frown intensified. “They say I’m magnetic. the only way to beat me would be a really big magnet.”
Your mouth stretched in a tight lipped smile, hoping not to show how much you loved his unusual sense of humour.
“Are you nervous?” You asked him.
“It’s been a long week. I was hoping we could just stay in and chill. Instead we’ll have to go through all of this while I’m tired and tense. I really don’t feel like being among people tonight.” He sighed. “My social energies have reached a new minimum.”
“We can be pretty and silent, hide in the background.” You held his hand and kissed it, careful not to smear lipstick on it.
“I doubt they’ll let us. It’s your first public presence.”
“They’ve seen me on your vlives, on pictures.”
“They’ll want to see you live, up close, see how you interact.” He twisted his wrist to intertwine his fingers with yours.
“Then let them watch. We’ll casually brush them off. ARMY know you, and they will get to know me with time, no need to reveal our whole life to journalists. Plus, it’s not like we’re the main event of the night.”
“As if, darling. They’ve been waiting for this for so long they’ll be like vultures. I wish I could protect you.”
“It’s good, love. We’ll have each other’s back. We just need a secret code to say when to run and hide in the closest broom closet.”
He laughed. “Usually Namjoon is so good, you know, he’s an extrovert, he takes care of all the press and journalists so well.”
“It must be reassuring.”
“He does all the talking, J-Hope drowns them in pretty smiles and positive energy, and Jimin gets flirty and cute, and that’s all it takes. I can stand on the side, jump in when I’m more comfortable. They ease the anxiety a lot.”
“I’ll learn from them. I’ll have them teach me so I can help you," You stated reassuringly.
“Just hold my hand.”
You reached the venue and exited the limo, suddenly immersed in the flashing lights of cameras, Jin extending his hand to you, helping you out of the car. He kept his palm against yours, “I got you.” He whispered in your ear, then smiling brightly at you and inviting you to walk forward, indicating you the red carpet with his free arm, bowing slightly with perfect manners. He charmed you all over in that second.
“Follow the stewards’ lead. They’ll tell you when to stop, when to walk, where to look.” You started strolling comfortably, close to each other. “If you wanna run, just squeeze my hand three times and I’ll carry you to the closest broom closet.”
You smiled at each other. The sounds of camera shutters multiplied infinitely. Not that you really noticed. You were too caught up in your man’s smile. As you promised, you grabbed his hand and never let go.
Yoongi
“How did it go?”
“The interview?”
“Yeah.”
“You’re gonna hate it.” He plopped on the sofa.
“Was it that bad?”
“They kept asking questions about you.”
“Like?”
“Saying my new music really reflected how you brightened my life or something.”
You laughed and sat beside him, passing him a cold beer, your own drink in hand. “They really love the whole ‘love redeems you’ anthem. They can’t stand the idea of self growth and acceptance.”
“It kinda looks like the beauty saving the beast, because of AgustD being a bad boy who met love and found the right path.”
“So dumb.” You clinked your bottles. “Still, congrats for finally finishing AgustD promotion.”
“Yeah, but this means that next week I’ll be in Los Angeles. I need to meet a singer for a collab.”
You huffed. Being his girlfriend is not easy. It’s a matter of carefully planning your schedules, continuously living with two different clocks on your phones set in different time zones, sometimes even wearing two watches at the same time, one at your wrist, the other a nice pocket watch that he had gifted you for your first anniversary, so that you could always “have his time”, as he said.
“Well, then we’ll have to make the best of this weekend.” You nudged him with your elbow. He smiled at you knowingly then took a sip. He zapped through some tv programmes, finally settling on the news. Right in that moment a small clip of the two of you came up, something about his album sales or the fact that he donated a percentage to a school that you had visited together a while ago for a project.
“God, you look amazing, babe.” He licked his lips and stared at you smiling wide at the cameras. They went on discussing your relationship, which to the public was quite new, even though the announcement had come shortly after your two year anniversary, that is about a couple months ago.
“That’s cause you make me look radiant.” You took a sip yourself.
“Really, look at that!” They showed a short footage of your first public appearance, at his side during a music award. “Beautiful.”
You smiled mischievously, brushing his knee.
“You remember that night?” He said. That’s exactly what you were expecting.
“Of course. How could I forget it? You left one-month-long reminders.” You remembered how you had to postpone your regular medical checkups because of the bruises he had left around.
“You were so good.” He praised, his eyes half glazed over, caught in a memory.
You felt emboldened. “I wish we did it more often.” You turned towards him.
“Look how pretty.” He ignored your cue, and it was quite probably intentional. “Showing all those tits to the world.” He gulped a mouthful of beer and clicked his tongue. “The interviewer’s eyes kept going downwards.”
Your dress was not improper at all. It covered everything that needed to stay private, the long sleeved, high neck bodice had just a central stripe of mesh fabric, starting at your collar and hitting a few inches above your belly button, which let the crevice of your breasts be vaguely outlined, just vaguely, and Yoongi had risked losing his manners and self control over it. Photographers had loved your overall vibe, looking adorably ethereal, your hair braided in a crown, your flowy gown matching Yoongi’s lace shirt.
But of course your bodice caused a fuss the day after in the news. Not that you really cared. Yoongi had loved it, clasping your hand like crazy anytime a man came close, but at the same time parading you in front of the cameras, moving you around like a delicate nymph -- which he would undoubtedly claim as soon as the night was over. He swam in the calm and femininity you radiated, your energy matching his. All it would take was a twist of a wrist, a tap of a finger and he would be directing you in posing, your bodies moving simultaneously, as if you were nothing but a puppeteer and his toy, him pulling at your strings.
The whole experience awakened a connection so profound and intuitive, instinctual, that as you reached your hotel room together you still felt those magnets pushing and pulling you to each other, turning your lovemaking into some complicated dance, then into wild, rowdy fucking where no words were needed, your moans and groans saying exactly where to kiss, bite, hit, grope and fondle.
“Are you thinking about it too?” He asked.
“I miss it so much.” You whispered.
“Do you want to?” He kissed your temple. “Need me to?” He used his spare hand to massage your scalp.
Still, you noticed the dark circles under his eyes. “It’s okay. You’re tired.” You leaned into his hand and nuzzled into him.
“It’s been three weeks. Usually you can’t go three days without it.” He kissed you again, delivering eskimo kisses on your cheekbone. The tenderness of it was slowly gnawing at your insides.
“But you’re tired.” You whined. “Let’s just chill.” You grabbed his empty bottle and cuddled beside him. A few minutes later he was deep asleep, his head propped against the sofa and his mouth open. You covered him with a blanket and held him tighter.
Hoseok
“Oh, sweetie! Oh, love! Oh, my god! My girl, so good!” Hoseok cheered you on as you descended the stairs, careful not to stumble on your dress.
“Thank you, Hobi.” You touched your hair, falling in soft waves on one side of your face.
“Seriously, ____, you look so fucking good, baby.” He took your hand to spin you around for him, examining you carefully.
“Oh god.”
“I can change if you need me to, there’s an alternative upstairs and I have time, I can-”
“No baby, it’s… wow.” He eyed again the slit on your gown, starting mid-thigh and exposing the side of your left leg cheekily. His eyelashes batted like crazy, his hands already reaching for your bum, cupping it through the tight, sparkly fabric. The dress had a siren gown, and since it was quite daring you had the stylist prepare an alternative, since Hoseok couldn’t see you in it and you weren’t sure of his opinion. It’s not like you needed his approval, or that he wouldn’t let you wear it, but you weren’t completely sure of it, and you needed him boosting your ego a little. One single sign of unsurety and you would dash to the bedroom to change. But his beaming smile and the way his eyes were glued to your skin made you understand he would be lowkey upset by your change of outfit.
He looked unreal. His baby blue suit was highlighted by silver details, matching the sober sparkles of your grey dress. He looked you in the face, hesitating one second before pressing a blazing kiss on your lips. It was scorching, resembling the usual bolt of energy between the two of you.
“I need more.” He whispered against your mouth, licking your bottom lip.
“You know we’re gonna fuck it up.”
“I feel like fucking you up.” He murmured, a little disappointed that you were resisting him. You could feel his arousal against your hip.
You simply laughed. “They’re gonna pick us up in less than half an hour. We don’t have all that time.”
“We can take way less than that, you know it.”
Quickies with him were… perfect. Hot, messy, reckless. Merciless. His pace could be devilish, ruthless. Still-- “We’re gonna be sweaty and sleepy afterwards.” You grabbed the hair on his nape gently, holding him away from your face.
“So?” His hands, once on your hips, now were on the small of your back and slipping lower.
“I don’t want them to see you all freshly fucked out.” You murmured with a pout.
“Oh, are you jealous or are you worried they’re gonna see you all freshly fucked out?” He asked, nagging you, squeezing your ass.
“I just don’t want you to.” You replied, pout intensifying to the point it dimpled.
“Baby is jealous.” He teased you, his voice doing that cute ups and downs it does when he’s being deliberately cute and bratty. “You don’t want them seeing how good you are to daddy?”
That word. He was playing it dirty, pushing all your buttons: possessiveness, praise and your daddy kink. “Hobi, I swear to God, if you don't’ stop now you’re not getting any later. And I’ve spent the afternoon charging all the toys.” You warned him. And you were pretty sure you would stay true to your warning. Not 100% sure, but sure enough.
“Can I at least see what you’re wearing underneath?” He squeezed your bum once more, as if checking for the signs of undies.
“What makes you think I’m wearing something underneath this? After all it’s so damn tight.”
“Sweetie… Do you really need to tease me like this! Such a bad girl!” He laughed and at the same time he fixed his pants. Your dress wasn’t the only tight indument at the moment.
You headed for the living room, grabbing your shoes in the process, giving him a glance that invited him to follow you.
“You’re wearing those sandals, aren’t you?” He stared at the box, a pair of stilettos emerging from it, their sparkly strings catching his attention.
“Let me.” He motioned, helping you wear and latch them onto your feet.
“You truly are a vision, ____.” He was kneeling before you, looking at you wide eyed, his sweet smile edged with admiration and pride.
“You sure you don’t want to get rid of some tension before we head there?” He caressed your knee with apprehension. His personal pleasure would just be a minor advantage, what he really wanted was to help you with your nerves, since a couple days before you mentioned how worried you were about attending to such a big event.
“I don’t think I could even possibly enjoy it right now.” You put your hand atop his. “But ask me later, and with the adrenaline of the night and the relaxation of being done with it, I might be very interested.” You smiled, faking coyness.
In that moment his phone rang, probably the driver.
“Then let’s pick up from here later.” He let his hand trail along the naked back of your calf, kissing your hand and helping you up.
You couldn’t wait for the event to end. And for your night to truly begin.

Wonwoo set the bags on the table for you and helped you put everything away. It was a lot easier taking care of your groceries than the pack’s since you were just buying for the two of you, but that also meant less work, which meant his brain could wander. As always, it went straight to two things: you, and Danbi.
He was frustrated with himself. He’d been with you for two weeks now, and he figured he should’ve marked you already. You already knew how all of that worked, so you would be fine with it. But he also hadn’t asked and he didn’t want to do that without asking, but he didn’t know if he even should ask. Was two weeks too early?
He would always do this. He’d go round and round overthinking it, and then do nothing and continue to be frustrated. He wanted you marked as his already -- especially with the nightmares he’d been having, but that was another thing entirely.
But that did have something to do with why he was thinking of Danbi. Was she doing okay? Was she still angry at him? Did she run off again? It wasn’t like his pack mates who came to check up on him were much help in getting answers, either. He’d ask a question, to which they’d only reply “don’t worry too much”. But when he kept dreaming of that day with Lilly, and now started having nightmares of something similar happening to you or Danbi, how could he not worry? Something bad could happen, and he would completely blame himself.
You could easily tell when he was thinking about Danbi, though -- at least, you always assumed it was just Danbi. He would stare off into space as he did whatever task he was doing, and his nose would scrunch in the slightest as his eyebrows sat low over his eyes and made a crease between them. You didn’t mind that his focus was on his sister, you just wished you could help. He didn’t deserve to be this stressed out and worried but what could you do?
“Your face will freeze like that,” you chuckled as you and Wonwoo sat on the couch together, his face still scrunched up as he thought about Danbi. “Come on, love, you need to relax.”
“I’m trying,” he sighed, the look finally dropping from his face as he laid his head back against the couch. “My sister is probably at home safe and sound, but I still can’t focus on my mate… I’m the worst werewolf to exist.”
Wonwoo didn’t want to tell you how he worried about you because he didn’t want you to see him how he assumed Danbi did. He didn’t want you thinking he was overbearing or thinking he was an awful mate and wanting nothing to do with him. He didn’t want to mess things up with you, so he kept his worries about keeping you safe to himself.
“That’s not true,” you stated, turning to face him as you sat on your knees. “Wonwoo, the only problem you seem to have is that you think you can protect Danbi from everything, including her own life and choices. You need to learn how to relax a bit more.”
“Relax?” he asked as if it was a foreign word to him. He sat up and looked at you. “Have you met the pack? We don’t relax; we fight.”
“Well, you definitely can’t fight anybody here,” you chuckled, looking around to find some sort of outlet for his stress. “Uh…maybe go punch a tree or something?”
Wonwoo’s laugh was deep, his eyes lighting up at your comment, “We don’t punch trees, _____.”
“It’s called a joke, Woo,” you giggled as he rolled his eyes, flopping over to the side and laying his head in your lap. Hearing the sad sigh he let out, you knew he wouldn’t be getting his mind off of his stressful thoughts anytime soon. “Love, I know you’re worried about her, but you know you can’t always be there to protect her.”
“But I need to be,” he sighed again, this time more deeply. “If anything were to happen to her, it’s my fault, _____. I’m her big brother; I’m supposed to protect her from danger.”
You had a feeling this was stemming from something else. The way his eyes bore into yours with such heartbreak in them, you knew this came from something much, much more than just fearing Danbi would run away again. But you didn’t know if it was too far to pry just yet.
“Sweetheart, she has Mingyu, too,” you told him, running your hands through his soft hair. “Mingyu’s your brother, so you know he’ll take good care of her. You can’t always be there for her now that she’s grown up and has a family.”
“Yeah, but--”
There was a loud knock on the door, interrupting your conversation. It made you jump a bit considering the fact it wasn’t only getting pretty late – the sun was setting as the sky began to fade to warm oranges that transitioned to cool dark blues – but the knock sounded forceful.
You let out a soft sigh before calling out, “coming!” as you stood, forcing your mate to sit up with a pouty huff. Despite the fact you informed the guest at the door that you were on your way to open it, they continued to pound impatiently on your door. You did your best to not snap at them before opening the door and being met with the last person you expected to see.
“Hello, _____,” the boy at the door smiled a little too sweetly. “I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time.”
His name was Donghae and he was this average height and clean-cut boy, always dressing up in the best clothes he could as if he were some sort of royal. Had he not been such a brat, you would’ve thought maybe Donghae was handsome with the way he always slicked his short, dark hair back, and how he was always clean shaven to show off his sharp, squared jaw. His eyes were a little on the rounder side, but his square brows were always set low so you couldn’t really tell unless he raised them in amusement -- much like he currently was.
Donghae was also the town mayor’s son. That meant he was the son of possibly the most important person in town, and that was scary. He had power, and people with power made you nervous because you knew they had the most information. Beom always instructed you to keep to yourself when around people with a higher status because you never wanted to give them a reason to pry. That was what confused you about Donghae suddenly showing up at your doorstep. You always kept to yourself, even earlier that day in the market with Wonwoo. So what could’ve made him come here? You weren’t even aware that he was in the market -- unless he had been watching you from a distance.
On top of being powerful, Donghae was, to put it bluntly, an asshole. He used his power just because he could, and he always got his way. He was one of the worst people you had ever been aware of, and you always steered clear of him whenever you saw him.
As soon as Wonwoo heard his voice, he moved quickly and quietly to the kitchen to be closer to you, afraid of what Donghae was planning. Despite not being too familiar with the town, he was well aware of Donghae’s family because they were who the pack had to be cautious around. Wonwoo didn’t know why the snobby brat would be visiting you – and at such a late hour at that – but he didn’t sense anything good about his reasoning.
“Of course,” you replied, trying to stay polite even though your heart was beating out of your chest. You didn’t know what he could possibly want from you; you were a very quiet member of the town. “What can I do for you?”
“I’d like to speak to you about a…werewolf problem,” he smirked ever so slightly, cocking an eyebrow like he knew you knew something.
Wonwoo softly growled, but tried to keep himself under control. There was no way he could be suspicious of you, right? And if he was, Wonwoo already knew the consequences wouldn’t be good.
“Werewolves?” you chuckled nervously. “Werewolves aren’t real, Donghae.”
“Oh, but I think Beom thought so,” he said as he clicked his tongue. “She is the one who raised you, isn’t she?”
You gulped, “Y-yes… B-but Beom was always coming up with crazy tales. You know that very well.”
“_____, I did notice something very...different at the market today,” he continued, the amused smile never leaving his stupid face. “You were with a man. That’s very new for you, isn’t it? You’re always alone.”
It was true that you were hardly ever seen with anybody, much less a man. You’d been in town with Danbi only a few times, and Jooyeon even less than that, probably. But the wolves, you had never been spotted with for as long as you knew the pack.
“W-why were you watching me at the market?” you quickly tried to counter.
“Don’t avoid this, _____. Who is he?”
As Donghae continued to try to get you to slip up, Wonwoo heard the back door open. He was about to let out a warning growl until he sensed it was someone from the pack: Chan. The youngest wolf crept up the hallway and made his way to Wonwoo when he noticed him in the kitchen.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Wonwoo whispered to Chan who had his golden eyes glued on you.
“You need to get _____ out of here.” he told your mate. “I was on my way home from town, and I saw a bunch of guards lurking. There are some around the sides of the house; I think Donghae knows that _____ helps the pack. I can get her out but I don’t know how I can if Donghae keeps blabbing to her.”
Wonwoo eyed Chan, unsure of how this could work, but he knew he had to get you away from Donghae before something bad happened. He let out a sigh, running his hands through his hair as he tried to quickly think of a plan. He knew he’d have to do something now before Donghae either took you with him or worse – he refused to consider the second option.
Wonwoo bit his lip, closing his eyes with a soft groan in his throat, “I can only think of one way to do this…but you’re going to have to be involved. They’ll know you’re a werewolf.”
“I’m okay with anything if it keeps the pack safe,” Chan nodded, “but I don’t know how _____ will feel. This is her home.”
“It’s all we’ve got to keep her safe,” he said, his eyes watching your back.
You still had no clue the younger wolf was in your house. You were simply trying to answer Donghae’s questions, giving the little twerp as vague answers as you possibly could. He was two years younger than you and you felt like he shouldn’t be here scolding you, but he was the son of an important person in the town, so you had to listen to him.
Donghae made it clear you were suspected of being involved with the werewolf pack, but you were denying everything. You tried to convince him that you were innocent, but you already knew that Donghae wasn’t the type to listen to reason, even if you weren’t lying – which you definitely were, but he didn’t need to know that. You were fighting a losing battle.
“Well, _____, I’m afraid I--”
“Excuse me,” an unfamiliar voice was right by your ear, cutting off Donghae as the stranger scooped you off of the ground, making you gasp, “but I’ll be taking her.”
Before you could even scream, you were moving at a speed so fast that it felt like you weren’t even moving. In seconds, you were near the familiar tree with the large hole in it that had been there since you were a child, signaling you were going the correct way to the wolves’ den. The smaller wolf -- you only knew he was a werewolf because of the eyes and the fact he was incredibly fast -- wasn’t even winded as he grinned down at you.
“Sorry to have our first meeting be under these circumstances,” he chuckled awkwardly as he set you down. “I’m Chan, the youngest; I’m from Soonyoung’s pack.”
They had mentioned Chan before. He was the pup and he had the power of speed. You got to witness that firsthand, and you had to admit, it was impressive. However, you didn’t get to even introduce yourself because it was then that it hit you: Wonwoo wasn’t with you.
“Wonwoo!” you gasped, gripping his shoulders. “Chan, where’s Wonwoo?”
“He left before we did,” he promised with a soft smile, “everything will be fine. It was all part of my master plan -- well, his, but it was my idea that he leave first since he’s slower than me.”
“But…” you turned, looking back the way you came as tears filled your eyes. You already knew that they were going search your house for evidence, trashing it and confiscating everything. “All of my things…my memories…my home…”
Chan’s proud smile faded as he watched tears slip down your cheeks, your bottom lip quivering. He stepped toward you, wanting to somehow comfort you, but unsure what would be okay.
“It’ll be okay, _____,” he promised softly, deciding to place a warm hand on your shoulder. “We’ll go back in a few days to bring everything back. I’m sure the alphas will help, and Wonwoo too.”
“What about Wonwoo?” you sniffled, looking at the younger boy as you tried to control your tears. “Where is he now?”
“He said he’d meet us here. He should be-- Oh! There!”
Chan pointed to a sandy-colored wolf with dark paws, and a dark marking on it’s chest. You already knew it was your mate just by looking at him, and you ran to him, making him slow his pace before he ran straight into you. He was carrying something in his mouth, but you ignored it and threw your arms around him, cuddling into his fur as he hummed in content.
“Told you,” Chan smirked, resting his hands on his hips.
Wonwoo let out a tiny huff, so you pulled away. He held what looked like a frame out to you, and you took it in your hands carefully. You turned it over and saw that it was the picture of you, Beom, and the alphas – the last picture you took with her.
You wiped under your eyes, holding the frame with one hand as you looked at your mate, “Thank you.”
Wonwoo nudged your cheek with his nose before walking up a bit and lowering himself for you to get on his back. Before you could even climb up, Chan was helping you on and taking the picture so you could hang on to Wonwoo’s fur.
“Good thinking, Wonwoo,” he smiled as he studied the picture, beginning the walk back to the house.
-
Once inside the house, Chan began going through his bag from the market that he’d filled with your little pots, potions, and remedies before taking you. He placed the various items on the counter, and each new thing he pulled out seemed to raise you spirits just a little bit. You were delighted with what they got, but you knew you’d still need the rest of your stuff. However, you were grateful either way.
“I can’t believe Jihoon smiles,” Jun called from the living room where he was hanging your portrait up above the fireplace with a few other photos.
“Shut your mouth!” Jihoon huffed as he helped you and Jeonghan put your things away with the Jeon siblings’ things in the kitchen.
Honestly, between what you and the two siblings had, you didn’t have a bad stock. You could definitely add to it, but you’d have to wait a few days. You’d be fine waiting, though. You knew you wouldn’t want to see your house a wreck, but at least you could get your belongings.
“I know the circumstances are shitty,” Jeonghan began, “but I’m glad you’ll be moving in for a while, _____. It’s been a long time since we’ve gotten to see you for long periods of time."
“I have to agree,” Jihoon admitted with the traces of a smile on his lips. “Plus, maybe you can keep these morons in line.”
“Hey, I’m not a moron!” Seungcheol whined.
“Don’t you have a mate to be keeping an eye on?” Jihoon quizzed, raising an eyebrow.
You let out an excited gasp, turning to the older wolf, “Oh, where’s Jooyeon?”
Seungcheol chuckled as he nodded toward the front yard, “She’s outside with Seokmin right now. I think they’re--”
“Uh, guys?” Seokmin called. You paused to go look out of the kitchen doorway and down the hall where the younger wolf was standing at the open front door. “You might want to see this…”
The wolves went to the door, piling outside onto the lawn. They looked up in the sky, one by one, their faces showing shock and horror. You made your way out and looked up, and then your jaw dropped, and your legs started to shake before your knees completely buckled and you dropped to the grass.
A pillar of thick, grey and black smoke was swirling in the sky. It looked like it was towards the outskirts of town.
Your house was right at the edge of town, and in the direction of the smoke.
“No!” you cried as tears formed and quickly began spilling over your eyes.
“_____...” Wonwoo knelt in the grass beside you, pulling you into his chest.
“Fuck…” Soonyoung sighed, looking from the smoke to you as you sobbed.
You didn’t even bother to cover your face or hide away in your mate’s chest. You couldn’t take your eyes off of the smoke. Every picture, potion, article of clothing, and most importantly, memory was now gone from that house. Your childhood, your memories of Beom, and every other beautiful memory that was contained in that house was now erased with the smoke as it rose higher and higher into the sky.
It felt like everything was taken from you. Everything you knew; everything Beom left behind for you was in that house. You only had a few things that Wonwoo and Chan managed to get, but it wasn’t enough. You were thankful, yes, but what about the rest of the things you needed? You could never get them back now. Everything was gone.
“That little brat isn’t playing around,” Joshua mumbled.
“I’ll kill him,” Wonwoo growled, angry with how upset Donghae had made his mate, hugging you tighter. “I’ll tear every limb from his body.”
Chan sighed, unable to look away from the smoke filling the sky, “_____…I’m sorry we couldn’t get everything. We didn’t know--”
You broke his apology with a sob so loud that the pack looked away from the sky and down at you. Wonwoo forced your face into his chest, not wanting you to continue looking at the grey smoke clouds that seemed to never end. He knew how much that house meant to you. Hell, he even considered moving in with you permanently instead of having you stay with the pack so you could keep all of your memories that were in that house. You lived close enough that he could visit when he needed to, and you would always be protected by the pack. It would’ve been perfect.
Anger bubbled inside of him. It was difficult for him to contain, but he managed while he had you in his arms. You were the only thing keeping him calm and grounded. If it were just him, he knew he would’ve shifted and would’ve been on his way to murder Donghae in an instant.
“Come on, _____,” Seungcheol’s voice was soft as his hand rested on your upper back. “Let’s get you back inside for now.”
“Seungcheol's right,” Wonwoo decided, bringing you to stand with him. “We shouldn’t stay out here for long.”
“You’re only torturing yourself,” Soonyoung nodded, gesturing for the pack to start heading in. “I’m also worried Donghae will send his men to look for the three of you, so it’s best if we all lay low for a bit.”
You knew that he was right, but you couldn’t find words. Whenever you opened your mouth, more sobs poured out, and it worried Wonwoo and the rest of the pack. They knew you’d be okay eventually, but it would take time. For now, though, it was clear you were far from okay.
-
The pack was determined to take your mind off of what happened. While Wonwoo, Chan, Mingyu, Soonyoung, Seokmin, and Seungkwan sat with you in the living room, the wolves were scouring the house in search of the old photo albums that they hadn’t seen in years.
“I found one!” Minghao called from one corner of the basement.
“How many are there again?” Hansol wondered as he searched another dust-covered box.
“Three…?” Seungcheol guessed slowly. “I don’t remember, I haven’t seen them since Beom would visit.”
Jihoon groaned softly, standing up on his toes to reach another box, “Why do we have so many photo albums? We never do anything together.”
“Beom made them,” Jeonghan stated, a slight bite to his tone. “She liked keeping memories, just like _____. That’s why we need to find all of them.”
“Got the second one!” Jun announced proudly, holding the dusty book in the air.
Seungcheol turned away from where he was looking to smile softly at the fourth oldest, “One more and we’re good.”
Meanwhile, you were in the living room with a handful of the pack as they tried to cheer you up. Wonwoo couldn’t help but feel a little bit happy that the pack flocked to you so easily, even if most of them barely knew you. Chan seemed to take an automatic liking to you ever since rescuing you from your house, and the rest of the younger wolves seemed to be following suit. Even Mingyu seemed to have his curiosity of you overpowering the constant attention he kept on his mate and 3-month-old daughter.
“Please don’t cry anymore, _____,” Soonyoung frowned, one arm around you as you sat between him and your mate on the couch.
Your head hurt from crying, but the tears wouldn’t stop no matter how hard you tried. Wonwoo was continuously drying your tears with his sweater sleeve, but they just kept flowing out of you. Your heart was completely broken, and you didn’t know how to fix it.
“We’ll avenge you, _____,” Seungkwan promised, offering a smile.
You sniffled, rubbing your eyes, “Th-thanks, Seungkwan.”
“We’ll make things okay again,” Wonwoo swore, his voice soft like velvet as he ran his fingers soothingly through your hair. “I know we can’t get your house back, but we can make sure you’re safe until we can figure out how to get back at him.”
You nodded, wanting to believe your mate, but Donghae had so much power. How were you supposed to go against him? He had resources that the pack didn’t, and he had way more people than you. The pack were going to walk into a battle that they couldn’t win.
If anything happened to Wonwoo or the pack, you would never forgive yourself.
“Beom would know what to do if she was here…” you mumbled.
Your words made tears start to pick up again, and Soonyoung was quick to shush you, being the only one in the room who knew your connection with the old woman.
You always looked up to her and always wanted to be like her. The truth was, you could never be her. You didn’t know nearly as much as her, and you clearly sucked at keeping the one secret that you had to keep. The town officials now knew there were werewolves nearby, and they knew that Wonwoo and Chan were two of them because they wanted to protect you. You were the reason they had to expose themselves.
“_____, don’t compare yourself to her,” the alpha told you. “I know you think you’re not as good as her, but even Beom would never be able to stop Donghae.”
“She wouldn’t have been careless,” you sobbed, your voice breaking.
“You weren’t careless, _____!” Chan insisted. “It wasn’t your fault. How would you know that Donghae would be in town?”
“Yeah, you can’t just hide inside your house all the time,” Seokmin agreed.
“But now we have to hide inside all the time,” you sighed as Wonwoo pulled his sleeve down over his hand and used it to wipe the moisture from your cheeks once again. “I don’t even know how he got tipped off. I’m really sorry…”
“Don’t be,” Seungkwan told you with a smile, “Jihoon and Jeonghan will be very pleased to not have to go outside.”
His lighthearted – but definitely true – comment made you laugh softly, which made the small group of wolves smile. Seungkwan was very proud of himself for that.
“Oh, _____,” Junhui sang as he appeared in the doorway of the living room, holding a dusty book in his hand, “we found some things that might make you feel better.”
When the rest of the pack crowded into the living room and set the three books on the table, you recognized them as the photo albums and let out a soft gasp. You thought all your pictures were gone – it was very difficult to get your hands on a camera, but Beom somehow managed – but here they were with the wolves. At least, copies Beom had given them.
“Ooh, let’s see this one first!” Seungkwan grinned as he reached over to grab the book from the table.
“Uh, I think this one goes first,” Joshua corrected, taking a new book and sliding it across the table toward you with a soft smile. “It’s mostly pictures from when _____ was younger.”
“Oh god…” you laughed shyly, making the pack chuckle.
You flipped the book open, smiling as you looked over the pictures and pointed out a few of your favorites. The pack had just gotten a house built back then, and Soonyoung’s pack had yet to even show up, so you only really saw Jihoon, Seungcheol, Jeonghan, and Joshua, so they were the ones in most of the photos. The older wolves also took turns to laugh at memories that they were reminded of from the happy pictures.
“Is that Jihoon holding a baby?” Chan asked, pointing at a picture of Jihoon holding a 3-month-old you as far away from him as he possibly could.
He burst into a fit of giggles as the rest of the wolves curiously leaned over for a look before they were joining in on the laughter.
Jihoon just frowned, “I’d never held a baby, okay!”
Jeonghan pointed to a picture of Seungcheol, who was cradling you in his arms and smiling down at you, “That’s how you hold a baby, idiot.”
The book was filled with pictures of you up to the age of eleven, either of just you or you with the pack. There were even pictures of just the pack at their home, which still looked the same as it does now -- like the one of them all outside the house after Soonyoung and his three pack mates had finally joined. All the memories were happy ones that made you smile and laugh with everyone else.
There were pictures of you on Jun’s shoulders as you pointed up at the sky, and Joshua and Jeonghan braiding your hair while you played with dolls that Beom had made you. There were pictures of Minghao and a wolf you recently learned was Mingyu as they tried to cook a large dinner for their equally as large pack. Pictures of Jihoon sitting on the floor with you in his lap at age four while he read to you, a genuine smile on his face – which earned plenty of ‘aw’s from the pack.
And then you came across a picture of Wonwoo and his sister when she had just moved in – and boy, did he look different.
“_____, look!” Minghao laughed, pointing to the picture to get your attention.
You almost didn’t recognize him with the way his long, black fringe flopped in his face. You only knew it was him from the sharp features, and the fact that Danbi was smiling beside him with her arms around his neck.
You looked at your mate beside you, who was blushing profusely.
“Hey, shut up!” he whined at the pack who was laughing at how he looked back then.
“You were cute,” you giggled, kissing Wonwoo’s red cheek softly.
He pulled you closer to him as he sulked at his pack’s teasing.
The next book was you between the ages of twelve and eighteen from the looks of it, and you didn’t get to see the pack as often. You saw yourself slowly grow up between all the pictures, and each memory brought back more that weren’t captured in the books. Like the time Jihoon came to visit after not seeing you for a long time, and became grumpy because you were taller than him.
One picture that Wonwoo pointed out was of you with his sister, the two of you hugging and grinning at the camera in the middle of Beom’s kitchen. You could tell seeing pictures of you with his sister made him incredibly happy as his eyes became shiny like they were filling with tears.
You took the picture out of its place and handed it to him, “You should keep this.”
“Thanks, love,” he smiled, kissing your temple softly as he took the photo.
The final album wasn’t completely full yet. It was you from nineteen, up until Beom died, and it showed more of you and less of the wolves. You asleep on the couch with a potion you were working on left unfinished in front of you on the coffee table; you hugging Soonyoung when he came to visit after not seeing him for months; Joshua sitting across from you in the grass while you tried to teach him how to knit on a warm spring afternoon; even you on Christmas as you held the very picture that was hanging up in the living room. You’d forgotten it was a present from Beom, so it only made the picture that much more meaningful.
“We should find a camera somewhere,” Seungcheol suggested suddenly as you neared the end of the final book. “We could fill up this book and make more with pictures of the growing pack.”
Soonyoung’s smile widened, “Yeah! We’ll have to keep our eyes out for a camera.”
“I’m sure Jooyeon can steal one of given the chance,” Junhui scoffed, nudging the eldest alpha in the side.
“Speaking of our growing pack,” Mingyu said as he stood from the floor, “I should check on Jiwoo and Danbi.”
Seungcheol nodded, “Yeah, I should make sure Jooyeon is asleep in bed and not asleep out of it.”
As the two wolves went to check on their mates, the pack went back to teasing the older wolves for how they were with you -- specifically Jihoon. He did at least improve with holding you when you were a baby, able to cradle you in one arm while he did tasks with the other. Soonyoung, on the other hand, couldn’t be trusted holding you with only one arm.
"At least most of us were competent,” Joshua shrugged, “or at least became competent.”
“Yeah, the real fiend is Soonyoung,” Jihoon insisted. “Tell them, _____.”
You chuckled, but nodded, “Yeah, Soonyoung was a real menace but I thought it was hilarious as a kid.”
“Because I’m great with kids!” Soonyoung said.
“Great with almost killing them,” Junhui giggled.
Wonwoo sat back against the couch and smiled as he watched you go back and forth with the older wolves. He was happy that your tears had dried, and the streaks of them were no longer on your cheeks. Your mind seemed to be taken away from the events of today, and that was all he could ask for right now.

“Where are you headed all dressed up?” Tony asks as you’re leaving your room at the compound.
“All dressed up? Dad this is a suit.” You laughed him off, he walked with you as you were making your way towards the front to board the jet.
“Alright Scully, where are you headed? Did I miss a memo for a shareholder meeting or something?” Tony asked.

Ever since you’d presented the information to him about the Mayor, he had been extra protective. But you’d done as he suggested, you turned the information over to the FBI. They suggested that for the time being, you keep up with Thomas and the family for appearances sake, to not cause suspicion. You told this to your father. What you didn’t tell him was that the FBI invited you to aid in the investigation, due to your proximity to the case you’d be useful. Also considering they were likely stealing from a government warehouse that was half Stark owned and maintained. You’d be a good person to have on board, and your commitment would be minimal. You’d publically stay with Thomas until they told you it was time to distance yourself, meaning they’d found something or want to provoke the family into making a mistake and slipping up, hopefully exposing a hole in their network they could exploit. You thought it was a good idea, you also thought it would be best for your father’s nerves if you didn’t tell him the full story.
“I guess someone doesn’t read their emails. But no, Linda has me judging the annual robotics competition at MIT, so it’s Back to School for me.” You spoke, digging through your purse, making sure you had everything, your suitcase should have already been on the jet, but you were only going to be gone for a few days.
Tony nodded, as if he now remembered seeing something about that somewhere. He saw the jet on the tarmac, ready to take off any minute as you both stood before the glass entrance of the compound.
“Alright Animal House, no toga parties.” He hugged you goodbye, you chuckled at the thought of a bunch of engineers throwing a toga party.
“I’ll try my best. I’ll be back in a few days. Oh, and tell Wanda I left a box of clothes for her in my room. And I made a prototype of an upgrade for Rhodey’s braces that I left in the lab for you to do some testing on.” You began to ramble off things for him, knowing there was a low chance he’d remember everything.
“Alright mother hen, you don’t want to be late.” He hugged you once more, shooing you off.
You made your way to the jet, as Tony watched you from a distance. His little girl, all grown up. He hadn’t seen you this happy in a while, it brought a smile to his face. Ever since he’d practically ordered you to stay away from Peter, he noticed a change in you. You spent so much time in the lab, tinkering on things to take your mind off of life. You were rushed around from interview to interview, dress fitting to dress fitting, and photoshoot to photoshoot. He noticed the toll it was taking on you. He hated seeing you so run down, and nearly considered giving the kid a chance. Maybe things wouldn’t be so bad, it worked for him and Pepper, it might just be able to work for them. He’s a good kid, but he’s not willing to take a chance yet, not when it comes to his daughters safety. He’s kept you safe for a long time, and he didn’t want to ever see you hurt again.
- - - - - 🕷 - - - - -
As you arrived in Boston, after a quick flight, a car was waiting to take you the rest of the way to MIT.
The car pulled into the familiar streets where you’d resided for a few years when you were younger. You hadn’t been back in years, yet it all looked the same. Near the entrance you spotted some of your old professors chatting, likely they were also judges.
“Y/N.” One greeted you, his expression somewhere between surprise and joy.
“Dr. Greenfield, it’s nice to see you again.” You smiled, shaking his hand.
“You’re all grown up now aren’t you. You know, I still remember your first day in my class. I had to go home and rework half of my lesson plans.” He chuckled at the memory. You remembered sitting in his class, answering all his questions that were meant to stump the class. He was a sweet older man, and you were happy to be here with him now.
You chatted and caught up for a few more minutes before you were invited inside to check in and meet the teams. You were given a metal name plate that you slipped on. Dr. A. Stark, it read.
You met the other 5 judges and mingled for a bit while the teams were still setting up in their prospective rooms. Some were industry experts, some were old professors of yours. Each judge had been assigned to a team, to mentor and offer insight and guidance before the final judging in two days time.
When a facilitator led you into a room of five boys standing in front of their invention, you weren’t met with the warm welcome you were expecting.
“Gentleman, I’d like to introduce you to your mentor Dr.-” The facilitator was cut off by one of the boys, he seemed to be the ringleader of the group.
“No, no, our mentor is Dr. A. Stark. Anthony Stark. Not some...” He waved his hand at you, trying to think of the best descriptor, “Vogue cover girl.”
You’d had a nice day so far, you were willing to let it slide, but when he opened his mouth and spoke to you with such disrespect, you were going to make him wish he’d called in sick today. The facilitator, likely a student committee volunteer, had her mouth hung open slightly in shock, she didn’t know what to do. So you stepped forward towards the boys, and that’s exactly what they were.
“You got Dr. A. Stark. Y/N (I’m sorry my OC has an A initial) Stark. My father actually doesn’t have a PhD. But I’ve got two. One of them in Electrical Engineering from this fine university.” You raised your hands motioning to the school around you, stepping closer once more, and oh if looks could kill. “But if you don’t want my help, I’m sure there are other teams who would be happy to have me...”
You turned on your heel and made one strutt towards the door before whipping around once more.
“By the way, you’re going to need the help, because I can spot six errors already from here. Seven if you count that sloppy rotary potentiometer.” And with that, you spun towards the door once more and didn’t look back at what you were certain were five speechless boys nearly shaking in their boots.
You’d certainly inherited a flair for the dramatics from your father, but this time it was merely a facade. Deep down you were on the verge of tears. This was your livelihood, you didn’t care if the civilian population thought you were some brainless covergirl, but you at least thought the people in your own field would respect you. The opinion of five students shouldn’t have hit you as hard as it did, but it now had you questioning everything. Every move you’ve made since that damn photograph came out.
You were leaning on the wall in the stairwell, if you were going to cry, you were going to make sure none of them saw you do it. You suddenly heard the large metal door open next to you, and a student looked at you in shock.
“Dr. Stark?” He asked, he wasn’t one of the boys from before, he must have been on another team. You knew he wasn’t like the others, he at least seemed to recognize you and your title.
“That would be me.” You smiled, lifting yourself off the wall slightly.
“I read your paper on nanoparticle technology. I think it’s completely revolutionary, I mean the implications alone... I just, it blew my mind.” He smiled, you watched as he spoke so passionately, waving his hands about as he spoke. A smile slowly spread to your face as well. In his excitement, he’d forgotten to introduce himself. He was tall but lanky, with a dirty blond mop of hair resting on his head, and deep blue eyes.
“That was my doctoral thesis from a few years ago. Back then the idea was completely theoretical, but even today at Stark Industries we’re developing prototypes using only nanotech.” You stated proudly.
“How’d you get around the deterioration objective?” He asked, with a slight tilt of his head.
“A housing unit that harnesses palladium and vibranium to almost charge the particles.” You explained, enjoying watching his eyes pop as you explained. It was refreshing talking to someone who spoke your language.
“That’s brilliant. It’s really such an honor to meet you. I know my team and I would be grateful if you would be able to spare a few minutes to look at our design? Our mentor is just... well he doesn’t have your experience.” He rubbed the back of his head nervously.
“I’ll see what I can do.” You smiled, “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name.”
“Harley, Harley Keener.” He shook your hand with a smile.

Sorry this chapter is a little shorter, I’ve basically got the next one written but I thought it might be too long to combine them. Don’t worry Peter’s coming in soon!

reasons my i am probably too sensitive to have anything to do with other people
including other people’s drama that has absolutely nothing to do with me
i started reading this person’s new webcomic on instagram a month or two ago, and what started out as a fun little time killer that i looked forward to every day has started making me so uncomfortable that i wish i’d never heard of it. it takes place right now, in an especially embattled US city, and it’s about the dysfunctional lives of a bunch of shallow millennials, set against the backdrop of an increasingly dangerous country in an unpredictable state of revolt. it’s solidly engaging, convincingly characterized, and rendered in a unique funny animal style; i wasn’t surprised to discover that it’s going to be published soon by the most reputable publisher of this sort of thing. at first, i was impressed by it because i thought the behavior and dialog of its insecure young people was so well observed. it felt like one of the only things of its kind that i’ve read, more or less about real people living right now, that was neither a broad ugly satire, nor a pretentious drama exaggerating the specialness of its characters. the other thing i liked about it was that while it was largely about their sex lives, it didn’t seem at all sexy to me. the artist has a kind of distorted, rough-hewn visual style that i thought put some emotional distance between the overheated state of the characters, and the real consequences of their decisions. then it all got weird.
the artist stuck a really long, graphic sex scene in the middle of story that made me think...oh, maybe i AM supposed to be getting off to this? that’s weird, this all seems really bad to me, like every character is just mindlessly, selfishly bent on destruction and not doing much to make me like them, and i’d been reading along thinking “god i’m SO GLAD i’m not in my 20s anymore and i don’t have to deal with people like this--or with the pressure to act like this, as if using sex to create drama and being ‘crazy’ is the ultimate thing a person can do with their life”--and then suddenly it felt like maybe the comic was actually some kind of celebration of this lifestyle, or at the very least it’s an intensely sentimental portrait of a time of life, and of types of people, that i cannot imagine feeling sentimental about. then something else happened that made the comic even MORE uncomfortable to read, somehow: it had been gaining traction at an amazing pace, with tons of people leaving comments to the tune of “noooo don’t do it!”, the way you would yell at someone in a horror movie not to go back for the cat, as each character made the worst possible personal choice in every daily installment. the “don’t go in there!” response seemed pretty natural to me, but then the artist stepped in and made this announcement threatening to stop doing the comic altogether if the readers wouldn’t stop criticizing the characters. pretty much everyone in the comments was like “???”. many apologized if their comments were offensive, although they had no idea what they could have said that was wrong; other people, who seemed more sure that they were the ones being accused, said that they thought you were SUPPOSED to feel critical of the characters’ obviously bad decisions. that was how i felt, and at that point i was just enormously glad that i never comment on shit online or get involved in any type of community shit, especially when the artist started explaining laboriously that all of the characters represent some facet of the artist themselves and so therefore none of them are meant to be seen in a bad light at all and they’re all meant to be loved unconditionally and if you find yourself thinking mean things about the characters then you are effectively shitting all over the artist as a person. a lot of readers fell all over themselves to be supportive, and i just thought...this isn’t something you should support, though. it sucks that the artist is feeling so sensitive, but they’re about to have a book out in the world where they won’t have any ability to threaten readers who are “reading it wrong” or having incorrect thoughts about it. i mean...life is full of uncomfortable experiences and people you can’t relate to, i really don’t think we should be promoting this hopeless sanitization of all experiences in which trigger warnings used to be something that protected traumatized people from being randomly confronted with traumatic material, and now they’re used to just make sure nobody ever has to hear anything they don’t like, ever. anyone who cares about this artist should be helping them understand that they cannot control how people read their book or how they feel about each character and story in it. or failing that, they should be encouraged to just turn off instagram comments. but because of all this drama, i found myself reading all the comments obsessively--something i did when the blowup first happened, because i couldn’t find anything in there that i thought was mean or offensive, which added to my uncomfortable fascination with the whole thing--and that’s when i spotted a comment where somebody asked the artist is this was a furry comic. i wish this didn’t blow my mind, but it kind of did. i mean, it’s a book where almost all the characters are animals, and they occasionally have a bunch of raunchy sex. i think that if you’re a furry, meaning you’re interested in that sort of thing, this book is completely available for you to enjoy however you want. but this person needed the artist to FORMALLY CATEGORIZE IT as a furry comic. what the fuck is the meaning of that? it struck me as something that people in fandoms do, where they need every single thing to be labeled to death in an intensive and intractable way like it was science, the Final Word on everything in the universe, and they like *argue with each other* about whether they’re *allowed* to ship certain characters together or imagine them doing specific things, which is something you would only worry about if you thought the topic represented a literal material reality that could be adversely affected by people’s improper thoughts. i mean imagine if you felt that way about your jerkoff fantasies about fictional characters? that your horny thoughts are up for debate by hundreds of people you don’t even know? imagine feeling like that about OTHER PEOPLE’S jerkoff fantasies, like it’s worth fighting over and trying to CONTROL? like holy fucking shit you guys, STOP IT. it would even be one thing to ask the artist if THEY were a furry, which may or may not be anybody’s business, but to ask whether interpreting the comic through a furry lens is ALLOWED is like...well, actually, maybe it’s exactly in line with the artist’s recently expressed attitude, that you’re forced to think of the book in exactly the way that they personally think about it, or else you should have your reading privileges revoked. so now i’m still reading the comic, sort of compulsively, because i’m a little addicted to the soap opera of it and i’m ALSO a little addicted to the soap opera of the artist battling the readers over finding the correct orthodoxy for reading the comic--there’s a particular guy i’ve become aware of in the comics community because he is always harassing people with this mix of really caustic sarcasm and really bitter political self-righteousness, and he was surely the main person who was being “mean” to the characters, and HE’S STILL DOING IT IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY, because i guess the artist would rather have problems with people than simply block them and eliminate them from the equation? but the whole entire thing is making me so uncomfortable i can hardly stand it. reading about like, dumb hot chicks with no self-control, and smug young shitheads who use the veil of progressiveness to hide or justify their predatory sexual behavior, and grownass adults who start drama with 20 year olds in order to feel relevant, AND being forced to know that the artist intends for me to embrace and adore all of this bad shit--like, people and things i left behind in real life, because it was all bad!--with ultimate love and compassion, or else they reserve the right to claim that they’re being personally attacked, has just become too much to take. it’s starting to make me feel sick. i really need to take the reigns on this thing. as much as the artist needs to forget about this control fantasy and stop being so precious about what they’re doing, i need to stop subjecting myself to something i find painful, embarrassing, and frankly creepy, if i ever wanna get back to a state where i have less to complain about.
tl;dr: stupid hipster is too sensitive to read a webcomic by a stupid hipster who is too sensitive for anyone to read their webcomic.

But You Hate Me - Chapter Two (Rick Sanchez x Reader)
You had never been to the Citadel before. You had asked and asked Rick to bring you whenever you were together, but to no avail.
“Can I please go, Rick?” you asked, batting your eyelashes at your older boyfriend as he scoffed at you.
“Y-You think that’s going to work...? On me? God, y-you're crazy.” He shook his head and continued tinkering with god-knows-what on his worktable.
You groaned, “Come on! Please! Just once. I want to see it!”
“Why?! Dammit, you’re a-a(urp)annoying.” He waved you off. “Go away.”
“Fuck, no, I won’t go away! Just please-”
“Shut the f-fuck up! I am not taking you there. Final a-answer!” he yelled at you.
You guessed you deserved that; you were being a pest.
Fuck him.
“Just tell me why...” You shoved down the lump forming in your throat; crying would only get you more scrutiny from him right now.
“O-Other Rick’s are awful, okay? They’re gonna wanna t-t-touch you and shit and t-try to f-f-fuck (urp) you. Over m-my mother(urp)fucking d-dead body!” He took a gulp from his flask before turning to face you.
“You don’t think I can defend myself against a bunch of versions of my boyfriend? I mean, right?! Other you’s wouldn’t hurt me.” You crossed your arms and huffed.
“I know mo(urp)re than you. Just (urp) fucking listen, g-g-goddamn it!”
“Oh, my god...” You marveled when you and Morty stepped through the portal.
Ricks, Ricks, and more Ricks hustled and bustled around you.
“C-Crazy, right?” Morty chuckled as I took it all in.
At first, I just saw Ricks and Morty’s everywhere.
Someone tapped on my shoulder, “First time?”
You turned around to see...yourself? You’d never seen another you before.
“Y-yes...hi.” You smiled. She (you?) smiled warmly back at you. She was dressed in a skimpy outfit.
Something you’d never wear...god, you were pretty. Were you really this pretty...?
She was suddenly led away by a Rick wearing sunglasses who was wearing a giant fur coat with a large gaudy gold chain. Weird.
“L-Let’s get to the h-hospital, (Y/N).” Morty smiled at me as he led you by your arm across the street.
You could feel yourself being watched by many of the passer-by Rick’s. Everywhere you turned, you saw Rick’s watching you curiously.
“I-Ignore them,” Morty said.
You were uncomfortable with all the eyes on you. They looked...predatory...
“The reason R-Rick didn’t want you to c-come here...is because a l-lot of Rick’s really want a (Y/N) b-but their dimension didn’t h-have one or th-they lost theirs...”
You shivered, “Lost them...?”
Morty shrugged, “Death, breakup, w-who knows?”
Suddenly, you reached a huge white building that loomed up into the sky. “Wow...”
“Come on!” Morty yelled, pulling you through the sliding doors.
Morty was abruptly stopped by a Rick dressed in a suit, “Woah there, l-little buddy...where’s y-your Rick?” He looked you up and down, “And why d-do you have his (Y/N)?”
You stepped in front of Morty protectively, “Clearly, he’s in the hospital, you dumb fuck! Also, I am not my Rick’s property!”
He stepped back, “O(urp)Okay, sorry, jesus.”
Morty laughed, “Th-that was awesome!”
“I’m not afraid of angry Ricks.” You smiled at him as you stepped up to the desk, where a Receptionist Rick sat typing away at the computer.
He looked up at you, looking irritated, “What?”
You rolled your eyes. God, you hated that fucking attitude. But God, did you miss it.
“I’m looking for my Rick, Rick C-137.”
He typed on his computer for a second before looking back up at you, “He’s on the fourth floor, intensive care unit 416.”
“Thank you.” You grabbed Morty’s arm and pulled him towards the stairwell.
“W-well, that was way easier than I-I thought it would be, haha...” Morty commented.
You said nothing, frowning at the air ahead of you.
“(Y/N)?”
Sighing, you stopped, dropping Morty’s arm from your death grip. “S-Sorry...this is just harder than I thought it would be, s-seeing him again...”
He looked at you sadly, “I-I’m sorry...I didn’t know w-what else to do...he’s killing himself.”
“He’s always been self-destructive, Morty...”
“N-No! No! Y-y-you don’t understand. Th-this time, he was r-really trying...h-his whole life stopped w-when you l-left....he wouldn’t go on adventures a-anymore...i-it was so s-s-scary...” His voice was shaking.
You hugged him, “Hey, buddy, it’s okay...” Your throat was tight from fighting back tears of your own.
“Come on now.” You smiled when you let go. “Let’s go find Rick.”
Morty pushed open the door to the stairwell and you trotted up the stairs. There was a ridiculous amount of gigantic posters of various Doctor Rick’s saying how amazing they are...
You couldn’t help but giggle at the sheer size of the posters...and the Rick’s egos.
He pulled open the door to the fourth floor and you both walked through. You were suddenly hit again with the urge to cry.
Swallowing hard you made your way towards the giant sign that said: “ICU THIS WAY” with an arrow pointing forward.

(1) Draco, Harry, Hermione & Ron (aged 23) all are working on a case. Harry & Ron are Aurors. Draco & Hermione are both Healers & Unspeakables. The case is something like a bunch of Death Eater wannabes trying to resurrect the dark lord. So while busting in on their ritual all 4 are transported to their younger bodies at different times. Draco (5), Ron (7), Hermione (9), Harry (11) (The day before Hagrid comes to fetches him.)
(2) Harry and Draco were married so they use a phrase to each other so the other knows that they're the other and then plan a meet in the Room of Requirements. After confirming that Ron and Hermione (Married) are who they are too they go to the meet too. While each playing the roles they had the first time around. They then work out a plan for the war (Since Draco hasn't found a way back they plan to change things).
(3) Draco needs to play the bully/death eater and work to save the lives of the war victims. While Harry, Ron and Hermione work out the horcrux ect. Befor and during the war they secretly work to make preperations and stuff to minimize the damage while also playing their parts as school rivals. And they manage to minimize the deaths and they manage to save a lot of familiar faces. Sirius, Remus, Tonks, George ect.
(4) So after Harry kills Voldemort (He had an argument with Draco cuz Draco was worried he wouldn't come back this time) they're in the grand hall and everyone just sees the golden trio going to Draco with smiles. Ron gives him a handshake, Hermione a Hug, and shockingly Harry kisses him infront of everyone (Draco's parents are like "WTF?") And says "Told you i wouldn't die." "Shut up you bloody git". (In my head its a long fic with a LOT of stuff added. I just wanna know how you'd write this)
Mmh, yes this would be a long plotty fic, so I won’t detail the structure, just some of the elements I would use to build it.
First, I would have them go back to exactly one month before they turn 11. There is a very nice symmetry there and we avoid having Draco too long in his child’s body. An adult Draco in a 5-year-old body would be terrifying. Lucius would just flee the country.
So they go back to 11 minus one month. Harry and Draco have 1-2 summer months to get settled and start figuring things out, Ron gets around 7 months to think about family dynamics and draft a plan to contact his friends. Hermione has a whole year plus change to rage, study and come up with a definite plan to Get Things Right.
There is a beautiful tense scene as they board the train, because Harry and Ron don’t know if their friend is their old self or their young self. They are both very cautious around each other until Harry notices the way Ron looks at Scabbers and he knows. It just takes a couple of loaded comments afterwards to recognize each other.
Hermione barges in their compartment in her usual way and they have to drop some very heavy hints to remind her they are not alone. They can’t spook Pettigrew.  Draco comes by, stares at Harry in silence for a whole minute and then passes him a note saying he can’t find the diary and also he ordered Dobby to go serve Harry, he should be waiting in Hogwarts. It is unclear whether Draco knows this Harry is the old Harry because Draco is, and has always been, kind of odd. It took them a while to discover it, but Draco is just a bunch or random powerful ideas held together with anxiety and fire. Harry loves him so much.
They go to Hogwarts. You would think that in this timeline Harry would be the most belligerent/hostile of them, but it is actually Hermione. Hermione is a nightmare student. She has a list of one hundred and fifty names and she is going to save all of them (except maybe Dumbledore and Snape). She has no time nor attention to waste in silly classes telling her what she already knows. She only comes to class sporadically, aces all her tests and hands out beautiful neat homework that barely took ten minutes out of her day to complete. Teachers hate her (or heavily dislike her), but they can’t expel her. It’s beautiful. The twins develop a crush on her.
Harry waits patiently until Christmas so Dumbledore can gift him the Invisibility Cloak and then announces that he is not going back to the Dursleys. Dumbledore insists. Harry says softly “by Jove, I will not” and Dumbledore thinks about that exchange for a week. He forgets about it when ten days later there is an incident in Transfiguration class and McGonagall discovers that Ron’s pet rat Scabbers is actually Peter Pettigrew.
(They were going to wait until Quirrell tried to steal the philosopher’s. Hermione insisted they couldn’t deviate too much of the original timeline or they would lose their advantage of knowing what was going to happen. If something was going to change, it was better to attach it to some other important event.
But Harry pointed out that it would be much easier to keep Sirius alive if he had some extra months of freedom and he didn’t have to live as a fugitive and Ron was certain that they would be fine even if they changed everything. It wasn’t just their knowledge of the events to come, it was their knowledge, period, their experience.
Ron is a man now, and adult, and he is kind of freaked out at the shenanigans they did when they were merely children. What were they thinking? Was there no competent adult to point out that were kids? It shouldn’t be up to them to rescue Sirius or Buckbeak, what in the seven hells.)
Anyway, Sirius is freed and Dumbledore is forced to explain everything about prophecies and love magic and blood protection early, because Harry insists he is going to live with Sirius. Harry agrees to go back to the Dursleys for two weeks, but Sirius has to come with him and no, he will not come as a dog, that’s demeaning. He will spend his time at the Dursleys as a human, thank you very much.
Sirius is the first adult to realize that there is something not quite right about Harry. The others had noticed that Harry was… special. But Sirius is the first one to see through, although he doesn’t know what he is seeing exactly.
Lucius still uses the Diary against the Weasleys, but this time Ron picks it up. Their first week back in Hogwarts, they all go for a nice excursion down to the Basilisk lair. They bring the Diadem, too. Harry speaks to the Basilisk and both horcruxes are destroyed.
The rest of the year is spent plotting. Draco takes on the role of the bully and plays it up to hilarious heights. He picks on everyone, and that’s everyone, except Neville and Luna. Funnily, Cedric Diggory is a big fan of him and always answers to Draco’s banter.
Draco suggests having a Duel Club to Lockhart. There has been no student attacks, of course, but Lockhart loves the idea and Draco wants the opportunity to fight Harry and make ridiculously sexually charged comments. They have five very nice duelling sessions until the curse of the DADA post acts up and professor Lockhart is unavailable the rest of the year.
(Harry tutors everyone in his year so this time people will actually now how to cast a protego. Ginny comes to the classes too and is by far his best student).
That summer, Ron has a very long chat with Percy explaining everything. Ron is now eight years older than Percy and understand why his brother fell to the Ministry and rejected his family. The Weasleys had pushed him that way, hadn’t they? Ron also understands that suddenly being nice to Percy and giving him recognition won’t work. It’s too late. But telling Percy they come from another timeline in which Fred died gets Percy’s attention immediately. Percy spends a whole weekend freaking out in silence (nobody notices, of course, and boy is Ron appalled at his family dynamics). Come Monday, Percy emerges relatively calm, all things considered. He has given himself a haircut and is resolved to infiltrate the Ministry.
The locket is destroyed that summer. They let Sirius and Kreacher do it.
They were hoping to have all horcruxes down before Voldemort rose back, but Pettigrew escapes Azkaban and Voldemort comes back a year ahead of schedule. (Early 4th year).
Dumbledore locates the ring. Despite warnings from all of them (and Snape) he still puts the ring on and gets a curse for it. Hermione says if he is going to be like that, she will take him from her To-Save list.
Barely eight months after Voldemort comes back to power, the Ministry is full of his followers. For now, Voldemort is happy with acting from the shadows, but soon he will want more and the four of them want to avoid open war as much as possible.
Percy sends Ron Helga’s cup, broken. Ron asks how he did it in case they ever find themselves in a similar situation (new timeline and all), but Percy only says that he asked politely. That means there are only two (two? Or is it one?) horcruxes remaining. Draco decides to speed things up, before Voldemort stars his terror campaign. He tells his father than Dumbledore has a mysterious ring with an interesting crest and that’s enough to have Voldemort attack Hogwarts with all his might.
It may not seem like a good idea, but if you think about it it’s much better to have dark wizards try to take over a castle than over a cottage where a half-blood family lives. Plus, now they don’t have to sweep Britain looking for Nagini. They can see her perfectly well down in the grounds trying and failing to eat Hagrid.
The battle draws on and almost becomes a siege. The Ministry comes to help, only they help Voldemort’s side, what with being infiltrated and all.
It’s still preferable to the years of the war.
Sirius has been put under a careful and insistent treatment of “Sirius, no”, so he actually stops when he is told to, he doesn’t follow Pettigrew to a trap and he isn’t killed by Bellatrix. Well done, Sirius! Another advantage of Sirius surviving, beyond the fact that he survived, yay, is that he gets to save Snape when Voldemort decides he might not be a good double spy after all. Snape hates the idea of owing his life to Sirius. It is very entertaining.
Neville kills Bellatrix Lestrange. Luna kills Nagini (and feels bad for it, and cries, sweet Luna, may she always have a soft heart). Peter Pettigrew dies in a freak accident in which both the giant squid and the twins are involved. Cedric Diggory bullies seven Ministry wizards into switching sides.
Things are going good. There are many wounded, more than the last time, but no dead, not on their side.
Harry knows he will have to die, again. And it will have to be Voldemort. He can’t risk having anyone else cast the curse (would they even meant it?). They have changed so many things… They can’t be sure that all those changes won’t coalesce in this one instant in time. They can’t be sure that Harry will make it back.
But Harry still goes, because that’s what he has to do. He tries to make things as similar as possible, act the same way, say the same things. Maybe having Sirius and Moody and Tonks and Lupin alive and well and fighting won’t matter if Harry just follows the script on this.
But just in case it will matter, just in case Harry doesn’t come back this time, he throws some ad lib.
“Hey, Tom,” Harry says, holding his thumb between his index and middle finger. “I’ve got your nose.”
Well, at least he can be sure that Voldemort means it when he cast the curse.
The honour of killing Voldemort falls on Hagrid this time. It isn’t pretty.
And Harry comes back. Draco forgives him just for having said that line.

“Have you seen?” Jazz asked the moment she joined Phantom in their clearing.
“What, the bounty?” He shrugged, far too casual for her comfort. “Yeah, it’s fine.”
“Fine? It’s a million dollar bounty! The world’s best known ghost hunters are all coming to Amity, just to hunt you down! How can you not worry about that?!”
Phantom blew out a breath. “Chill, Jazz. They’re the world’s best known ghost hunters, not the best. They’re a bunch of phonies who couldn’t catch a ghost if it waved at them.”
“But—” Nerves curdled in her stomach. Why was he so dismissive?
“It’s nothing,” Phantom said, more comfortingly, like he’d finally caught onto her concern. “Really, Jazz, it’s fine. I got away from all of them when I was your age, and I could do it again now. Not that I would have to, because the bounty isn’t real.”
She blinked at him. “It’s not?”
“Nah. Or, well, in my universe it wasn’t, so I bet it’s not in this one either. Vlad set it up to lure me—you—us away from the Fenton Portal so he can steal it. And I guess I make a better target than you.” He shrugged.
“He’s probably still trying to get you out of the way,” Jazz pointed out, crossing her arms. “Since you ‘stole’ his mentorship position, and all that.”
Phantom made a face. “Ugh, yeah, probably. Really, though, I’ll be fine.”
Jazz shuffled her feet uncertainly, watching her glow flicker slightly. A reflection of her emotions, she now knew. “Are you sure? I mean, it just takes one slip-up…”
“I’m sure, Jazz.” He smiled at her. “I mean, really, the only reason why I got caught in my own universe was because I felt bad for Dad and let him catch me. And you obviously haven’t hurt his feelings like I did, so…”
She snorted, startled. “Oh my god, you let him catch you? How did you even survive your first year as a half-ghost?”
“Well, some might argue I didn’t.” Phantom winked, his grin growing more wide. “But for real, he found out that the bounty was a trap, and the ghost who put it out was going to target our family. Or, well. Jack’s family. I offered to free him from the trap if he freed me from the Fenton Weasel, and that’s pretty much how it went.” He shrugged at the end of it, like it wasn’t a big deal that their ghost-hating father caught and then released a ghost of their caliber.
“How can you act like that?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “Seriously, Dad caught you and then let you go?”
“His family comes before ghosts,” Phantom pointed out, humor leaching out of his voice. “Always.”
The mood was clearly broken. Silence fell, strained and uncomfortable.
Jazz cleared her throat uncertainly. “Right, so, uh. What are we working on today?”
---
Now, Danny usually doesn’t go out looking for fights—not counting his patrols—but he figured he would make an exception this one time. Vlad was still in Amity somewhere, lurking.
Besides, he fought the elder half-ghost in his own universe. If he didn’t come to Vlad, the man would surely seek him out. Better to catch him off-guard and engage on his own terms, right?
Finding the older ghost was easy enough. Even though half-ghosts were harder to detect—thanks, ghost sense—Vlad wasn’t alone; he’d brought the three vulture ghosts along. And those? Those were easy to track down, as long as you were looking for them.
Danny glanced downwards, quickly making sure that they were high enough up that no one could overhear. Assured of this, he flew up to Vlad’s level, even though the other half-ghost hadn’t noticed him yet.
“Hey, Plasmius!” he yelled, drawing even with the four ghosts. “What the fuck are you doing in Amity?”
Vlad whirled around, his red eyes briefly blown wide open—startled. Danny had actually startled him.
The expression was quickly wiped away in favor for Vlad’s usual smooth blankness, of course, but Danny was counting it as a win anyway.
“Phantom, I presume?” Vlad hummed, as the vultures spread out behind him. An attempt at intimidation, or were they getting out of the way for a possible fight?
“Oh please, like you don’t know exactly who I am.” He rolled his eyes at Vlad. “Seriously, man, you’re not welcome here. Haven’t you caused enough trouble yet?”
“Me?” Vlad pressed a dainty hand against his chest, eyes wide and blinking innocently. “Why, Phantom, what are you accusing me off? I haven’t done a thing.”
Danny shot Vlad the flattest, most disbelieving look he could manage. “Uh huh. Sure, old man. Nothing about this bounty is sketchy at all, and it certainly has nothing to do with you. Now, for the last time. Leave this town, or I’ll make you.”
The vultures behind Vlad squawked, a dead giveaway that it was Vlad’s fault. Not that Danny had any doubt about that, but it was always nice to have proof.
He grinned at Vlad, knowing the other half-ghost hated that cocky smirk. “So, now that we’ve established that… Leave, Vlad. I’m not above fighting you.”
“What, all on your own?” Vlad quirked an eyebrow at Danny. “I didn’t know you fought without your dear… sister.” The last word, he said carefully, measured.
Danny snorted. “I’ve fought more without her than with her. But don’t you worry, I’ve got more than enough power to deal with you.”
“Big words for a ghost who hasn’t even met me before,” Vlad scoffed, flaring out his cape in a (weak) attempt at intimidation. His fists flared up with pink ectoplasm. “But if it is a fight you want so dearly, I suppose I give you that much.”
“I would prefer if you just left,” Danny bit back, firing off two quick but low-powered ecto-blasts towards Vlad, “but I’ll settle for kicking your ass.”
Vlad summoned a minimal shield, small and glass-like, reflecting the blasts. “Oh please. Bold words for a little ghost that can barely form an ecto-blast. It’s a miracle that Specter would even consider you a mentor, when you have so little to offer her.”
“You’re just jealous that she didn’t want you,” Danny countered, smirking at Vlad. His core thrummed eagerly, flooding him with energy. It had been far too long since he’d been in a serious ghost fight. “But don’t be jealous, Vladdie, because she wouldn’t have accepted your offer even if I hadn’t been around!”
He underlined the statement with another ecto-blast, bigger and more powerful than the previous two. Vlad swore, ducking underneath it—barely.
Vlad shot back a blast of pink ectoplasm in retaliation. “Don’t call me that!”
The blow petered out against a hastily formed shield, and Danny blinked innocently. “Call you what, Vladdie? Don’t you like it when people use your name?”
Vlad snarled, the ectoplasm whirling together into pink flames. “Who do you think you are, you little pest!”
Danny opened his mouth to snark back, but Vlad lunged at him and he discarded the attempt in favor of protecting himself. He dodged the first swipe, used a shield to block the second, and then blasted Vlad in the side to push him away.
“Why do you even care about Specter?” Vlad asked, once he’d recovered from the unexpected counterattack. “You say she’s your sister, but you can’t be. It must be something else.”
Oh, Vlad. For an expert of all things half-ghost, he could be incredibly oblivious. “Why can’t I be, hm? Is there some sort of limit on half-ghosts, or do you just feel threatened by the possibility that someone could’ve managed without your help and expertise?”
He could see Vlad’s brain grind to a halt at that. The man froze in mid-air, the ectoplasmic flames around his fist dying off.
“You… You can’t be,” Vlad mumbled. His voice was quiet, like he was just thinking out loud. Danny would feel bad about listening in but, hey, Vlad has done far worse. “It makes sense, but— surely I would’ve noticed? He acts like he knows me, and he’s close to Jasmine, but— no. Surely not?”
“You’re rambling, man,” Danny interrupted, leaning his chin on his hand and rattling the fingers against his cheek. “You wanna leave to have your crisis somewhere else, or are we still gonna fight?”
Vlad whirled around to him, his aura flaring brighter. “Would you shut your mouth, Daniel?!”
Immediately, Vlad snapped his mouth shut, but it was too late. His cheeks colored—an inhuman teal—and Danny realized that Vlad hadn’t even meant to say his actual name.
“You know, I usually ask people to call me Phantom or Danny, but I’ll give you a pass for this once.” Danny lounged backwards, his spine clicking as he stretched. “Seriously, though. Are you gonna leave, or what?”
A pink ecto-blast whizzed by him, and Danny raised an eyebrow. “Well, alright then. If that’s how you want to play this.”
The next blast, he intercepted with a shield. It lasted through several more shots from Vlad, before Danny suddenly dropped it, following it with an ecto-blast of his own. It caught Vlad right in the arm, breaking up the steady rhythm of firing.
In the newly made gap, Danny darted closer, angling low and bypassing Vlad entirely. Electricity crackled over his arms, and he discharged it right against Vlad’s unprotected back.
The older half-ghost was blown forward, tumbling heels over head, but he managed to straighten himself quickly. He snarled, baring his fangs, flames licking over his arms.
Danny rolled his eyes, looking as unimpressed as he felt. “You’re not that scary, man.”
He waited until Vlad opened his mouth to snark back. When he did, Danny launched a pointed icicle, swiftly followed by several more.
Vlad swore, throwing his ectoplasmic fire in front of him. Once the flames had faded, Danny could see that Vlad had gotten soaked, but he seemed unharmed.
“You’ve been underplaying your skill,” the other half-ghost commented, his voice strained. “You didn’t need Specter’s help for any of those fights of yours, did you? But why else would he train her…"
“Yo, fruitloop, I’m right here!” Danny shot another ecto-blast, but it was halfhearted, and Vlad easily shielded it. “And I think you know the answer to that last question already, don’t you?”
“It can’t be!” Vlad snapped back, aura flickering wildly. “You’re obviously experienced, and I can’t have missed— missed another for so long!”
Danny scoffed dismissively. “Clearly you can. Seriously, man, it’s been years. You’ve missed your shot by miles, and Jazz will never take you, because she knows she’ll always have her actual family. Give up, Vlad. Or learn to do better, and maybe I’ll let you help.”
Vlad snarled, vicious and animalistic. “I don’t need your pity, boy, nor your advice! I’ll get what I want sooner or later, and you’d be wise to join me before you pick the losing side.”
“I’m already with the winning side, Vlad.” Danny crossed his arms, staring Vlad down impassively. “You’re free to join us if you clean up your game, you know? But nobody wants this, Vlad. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can find happiness yourself.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” Vlad sneered, eyes narrowed into bright red slits. “You’re, what, sixteen? You have barely an ounce of the life experience I have. But, nevertheless, I am done here.”
Vlad caught the edge of his cape, bowing deeply. “Goodbye, Daniel. You know where to find me if you change your mind.”
And, with that, he swept the cape over himself, disappearing in a swirl of pink smoke.
Danny cast out his ghost sense, confirming that Vlad had actually left. Him, and those vultures too. Uh, whoops. He’d gotten so caught up with Vlad that he forgot about the minions.
Well, they couldn’t have gotten that far. He would just have to keep an eye out during patrol.
Actually… maybe he could take Jazz out with him. That would assure her that the bounty wasn’t dangerous to him, right?
Yeah, that sounded like a good plan.
---
“Wanna join me on patrol?” Phantom asked, completely out of the blue. Jazz jerked her head towards him, frowned.
“Why?”
He shrugged vaguely. “You’re worried about the ghost hunters, yeah? If you come along on patrol, you can see first-hand that they’re no danger to me. Besides, they won’t go after you—they’re only interested in the bounty.”
“Well…” She made a face. He was right, she supposed, but still… “Are they really only going to chase you, though? That seems…”
“Sketchy? Kinda shitty? Just overall a really awful thing to do? Yeah.” He shrugged, lounging in mid-air. “There’s a reason why they held off on coming here until now. They don’t care about the actual ghost hunting, they care about the money.”
“That… sucks.”
Phantom shrugged again. “It also means that they have very little experience dealing with actual ghosts, so. Not very threatening. Want to join me for patrol?”
“I guess. Are you that worried about ghosts?” She frowned at him. “I mean, won’t the ghost hunter’s presence scare off other ghosts?”
“It’s possible,” Phantom admitted, easily. “But Vlad tends to drag his vulture minions along with him, and he’s not above having those guys cause trouble just to lure us out. So I’m gonna go on patrol and find them, make sure they can’t cause a ruckus later.”
“Isn’t that exactly what he wants, though?” She sighed. “But, yeah, sure, I’ll join you on patrol. Give me a second to finish this bit of homework, and I’ll meet you outside.”
Phantom grinned, wide and bright, and saluted her. Then he was gone.
She rolled her eyes—he was definitely running head-first into a trap—but did as she’d said. Her homework was almost done anyway, and she had plenty of time for the rest later. For now, she had to make sure that Phantom wasn’t doing anything stupid.
And, yeah, in some way he was her older brother. Maybe she was a bit too worried about Phantom. He was, after all, both older and more experienced as a half-ghost. He was way stronger than she was, could beat her easily if they fought.
But he didn’t always make good decisions. And that? That wasn’t a Phantom thing. That was a Danny thing.
Besides, they both knew that Phantom wasn’t happy to be here. No matter how hard he tried to be cheery, to help to the best of his abilities… He missed his home. He wanted dearly to go home. It was clear, so clear.
So, Jazz was glad that he was staying around anyway. That he was helping her with all this, instead of looking for a way home. Sure, he said that there was no point in looking for portals back, but there must be other ways. And even if he didn’t know about them just yet, he could’ve done tons of research in the time he’d been here.
But, no. Instead he’d stuck around in Amity, helping her. Training her, mentoring her, teaching her.
With her homework swiftly finished, Jazz pushed herself away from her desk, out of her chair. She bit her lip, hesitating for just a second… Leaving with Phantom to patrol would be sneaking out, wouldn’t it? But as long as she returned before it was too late her parents wouldn’t miss her, and Danny definitely wouldn’t.
She easily shifted to her ghost form, turning invisible and intangible so she could sneak out unnoticed. From her room it was just a short flight to the rooftop where Phantom was waiting, and she dropped her invisibility almost immediately.
“All done?” Phantom asked, pushing himself to his feet. With a quick flash of light he returned to his usual ghost form—he must’ve shifted back to avoid ghost detectors.
“Yeah. Lead the way, Phantom.”
He nodded, pushing himself off of the rooftop. Jazz followed him, taking a moment to remember the first they’d met. When she could barely fly up to meet Phantom’s height, never mind follow his steady flight.
She still couldn’t match his grace in the air, but, well. Danny had always been aiming for space. It made sense that he was better at flight, at disregarding gravity, than she was.
They found the vulture ghosts faster than the ghost hunters found Phantom, which either said worrying things about the hunters, or great things about them.
Unfortunately they weren’t that much faster, and the cacophony from the human hunters distracted her and Phantom long enough for Vlad’s minions to get away from them.
“Just follow my lead,” Phantom told her, a grin on his face, before he turned a full 180 degrees and flew back over the ghost hunters chasing them—him—them. She scowled, but did as he asked.
The hunters, in four clearly-uncoordinated groups, got tangled up in each other when they tried to give chase. Only a single shot was fired in their direction, and it went so wide that Jazz was almost embarrassed for the hunter who had fired it.
With their tail thus thrown off, the two of them managed to track down one of the vultures.
“Must’ve split up,” Phantom mumbled under his breath. They were hidden from the ghost around the corner of a building, ready to chase it down. “I’ll come from the front and freeze it, you catch it in the Thermos.”
“Gotcha.” She nodded, pressing her feet against the wall so she could push herself off.
Phantom nodded back, and off they went. He shot straight at the vulture, legs immediately melting into his spectral tail, hands glowing blue. He didn’t even fire the ice beam from the distance, like she knew he could, but held off until he was practically touching the vulture before releasing the shot.
It was effective, though, she had to give him that. The ghost was frozen solid, and the Thermos sucked it up easily.
“One down, two to go,” Phantom said, rejoining her. “Let’s keep up the pace, before those suckers catch up again.”
They returned to their sweeping loops over Amity, both turning invisible when they passed the ghost hunters again. Jazz thought they had ghost detectors, but they either didn’t have them, or didn’t use them, because the hunters didn’t even notice them. Suckers.
The two of them used a similar tactic on the second vulture, once they had found him. This time, though, Phantom scared the vulture by flying at him from the front, while she caught it off-guard—and in the Thermos.
“Just one more.” She grinned at Phantom. “Are you sure you didn’t ask me along just to make this go faster?”
He laughed, holding up his hands. “Guilty as charged. But, really, do you still think those guys are a threat to me after this?”
“I guess you’re right,” she allowed. “Come on, let’s go catch that last vulture.”
Just then, both their ghost senses went off.
“Well, I guess that he’s making it easy,” Phantom said, twisting his head to look upwards. “Oh, yeah, there he is.”
Jazz followed his pointing finger, and indeed, there the third vulture ghost was. Way up high, and actively flying around.
“What are we waiting for?” She smirked at Phantom, Thermos already in her hand. “Let’s get him.”
He grinned at the challenge, and before she could move, he launched himself upwards. Jazz laughed, quickly flying after him, even if she couldn’t match his speed.
The vulture squawked when Phantom hit him, apparently forgoing ghostly tactics to just body-slam the vulture at top speed. Jazz worried for a moment about how she was supposed to catch him in a Thermos, but Phantom was already turning around, arms still wrapped around the ghost.
They leveled out with her, stopping abruptly, and Phantom released the ghost. Apparently the maneuver had disoriented the vulture, because he didn’t even try to fly away.
Jazz uncapped the Thermos, held it up, and captured the ghost in its vortex. Satisfied with a job well done, she capped the Thermos again, clicking it back on her belt.
“And that was the last of them,” she said, a satisfied hum to her core.
Phantom dusted his hands, grinning at her. “Yeah. Thanks for the help, it really made things easier for me.”
“Not that you needed the help,” she countered with a shake of her head. “Seriously, those ghost hunters are just sad. I know that people don’t like it when we protect the town, but we have to be better than that, right?”
“The Fentons aren’t that bad either,” Phantom pointed out with a shrug. “And there’s always Val.”
“There sure is,” a familiar voice answered, and Jazz’ eyes snapped upwards. Red, and a lot of it. The whine of some sort of technology, and a blinding flash of light.
Jazz clenched her eyes shut, slowly opening them when the light faded again.
Valerie stood on her hoverboard, a knock-off Thermos in her black-gloved hands. It was nigh impossible to read her expression thanks to her mask, but Jazz thought she was frowning down at the device.
Wait.
Where was Phantom?
She looked around, but there was no trace of him. It was like he… disappeared.
Oh.
“Did you just catch my brother?” she bit at Valerie, twisting back to look at her. “I thought you were alright with us!”
Valerie scoffed, shoving her Thermos in a holster on her thigh. “There were more important targets. It’s a thing called prioritizing.”
“What, and we suddenly pushed to the top of your priorities?” Jazz asked, but cold realization seeped in. “Oh, no, of course. It was the bounty, wasn’t it?”
“Oh please.” Valerie huffed, her tone of voice making it sound like she rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t expect a ghost to understand what that money means to me, to my family.”
“There is no money!” Jazz snapped back, feeling her glow flare out, ectoplasm sparking around her fists. “It’s a trap, Huntress! Just let Phantom go. Don’t do this.”
“Or what?” Valerie bit back. “You’ll attack me? Not good for your status as protector, is it?”
“I’m serious! It’s a trap, alright, and you won’t get the money.” Jazz darted around to block Valerie’s path. “The bounty isn’t real, some ghost put it out because he wants Phantom out of the way, I swear!”
Valerie scoffed, pushing Jazz out of her way. “Yeah, I don’t believe you. Leave, Specter, or I’ll shoot you.”
“Fine.” Jazz moved aside, crossing her arms. “Go, then, prove me right. But don’t blame me if this comes back to bite you in the ass, Huntress.”
“Oh, don’t be dramatic,” Valerie murmured, shaking her head. Her hoverboard roared to life, and away Valerie went—with Phantom captured in a Thermos.
“Ugh,” Jazz sighed, immediately dropping her stern posture. “I can’t believe— Of course she would be out here too, hunting for the bounty.”
She knew she should go out after them, should free Phantom, but… there wasn’t all that much she could do. Valerie would probably release Phantom sooner or later herself, once she discovered that it really was a trap. And Phantom wouldn’t want her to follow, either. Would want her to keep her house, and the ghost Portal, safe.
So she reluctantly turned around, flying back home.
No ghost hunters bothered her.
---
Danny had some experience with getting captured with ghost hunting devices, but the Thermos always remained one of his least favorites. The Weasel, at least, allowed him to overhear the outside, to still feel like he existed. The Thermos was… was nothing. From the moment he went in to the moment he was released again, it was like no time had passed.
It wasn’t… uncomfortable, or something. It just… didn’t exist. As long as he was in the Thermos, he was completely and utterly unaware. It was like no time passed at all; he was just suddenly elsewhere, and also it was three hours later.
He tumbled back into awareness—literally—staring right into Valerie’s mask. It was creased heavily around her brows, a clear sign of her frowning at him. And glaring, probably, knowing Valerie.
They were inside a cage of sorts, the bars made out of pink ectoplasm. Ah, yes. Danny remembered this part.
“I hate your sister,” Valerie told him, leaning right into his face. “I want you to know that.”
“Duly noted.” He rolled his shoulder, grimacing at the sound of it crackling. “She warned you about the trap, huh?”
Valerie hissed, low, and Danny raised his hands. “Chill, it’s fine. Specter can be a bit of a know-it-all sometimes. She’s clever, but she’s not great at conveying that knowledge.”
“I don’t care,” Valerie growled, then took an audible breath. When she continued, her voice was calmer. “Look, I just… I know you and Specter aren’t actively causing trouble in the city, so you’re not, like, high on my shitlist or anything. But that bounty went out and… it seemed too good to be true, but I just… wanted it to be real.” She shrugged. “My family and I… we really could’ve used that money.”
“It’s fine, Red. I get it.” Danny caught himself halfway through lifting a comforting hand, freezing in place. Valerie probably wouldn’t be receptive to that sort of thing, not from him. “I know everyone thinks that ghosts don’t remember anything from their lives, but… I know I do. And I… I remember what being poor can do to someone. How much it sucks, and what kind of weird shit people might pull just for some money.”
Valerie cocked her head slightly, her mask crunching together slightly. “Like what?”
“What, is this a cross-examination now?” He rolled his eyes, huffed for dramatic effect. “I might have sold stuff from my parents’ shed to make some money, hoping that they had hoarded enough stuff that they wouldn’t notice.”
“That’s nowhere near what I just did,” Valerie pointed out, crossing her arms.
“Well, no, but it’s not like I had ghost hunting equipment or potentially dangerous ghosts to chase down.” Danny shrugged, loosely. “Seriously, it’s fine. Not the first time I’ve been caught, and you, at least, had a pretty valid reason to catch me. If I had to get captured for this bounty stuff, I’m glad that it was you and not one of those other hunters.”
She made a face. Or, well. He thought she did. “Are those… seriously the best money could buy? Because, uh, yikes. I had no idea ghost hunting, as a profession, looked like that.”
“Yeah, you made a poor career choice.” He grinned at her. “But, hey, you’ve got plenty of time left to change stuff around. Or to better the name of ghost hunting. Either or, really. Up to you.”
“You sound like a motivational speaker.” Valerie scoffed. “Seriously, I thought you were bad during battles, but this? This is worse.”
“Aw, Red, I didn’t know you cared.” He pressed a hand against his chest, blinking lovingly. It was just… too easy to fall back into his easy banter with Val. He knew he shouldn’t, but, well. Banter was better than fighting, yeah? “But, for real, I get it. Specter and I, we try our best, but we’re not perfect. We can’t catch every ghost the moment they look like they’re up to anything malicious, unfortunately. I’m sorry it happened to you.”
“I don’t think you are,” she said, shaking her head, but Danny recognized that tone. It was her “I’m starting to acknowledge that you’re actually kind of human-like but I refuse to accept it” tone.
And, yes, Valerie had a tone like that. It was rare, but the few times he’d heard it had been memorable enough to stick.
“Well, that’s up to you.” He reached out a hand towards the bars, but they didn’t shock him. Ah, yeah, just like last time. Not phase-proof. “You want me to apologize by phasing you out of this?”
“You can do that?” She jerked her head back towards him. “I thought— It looked like ectoplasmic energy, I figured it would zap you if you tried.”
He wrapped a hand around the bar, tugging it meaningfully. “Doesn’t look like it. Besides, isn’t that why you let me out of the Thermos again? Or did you just want to vent about my sister so badly that even I would do?”
“Oh, shut up,” she grunted. “Just let me out and we’ll ignore this ever happened.”
“Sure thing, Red. The closer you are to the bars, the shorter I’ll have to make you intangible, so…” He gestured vaguely. “I’m assuming you want that time to be as short as possible, anyway.”
She inched closer, keeping her head turning towards him the whole time. “Why do you keep calling me that, anyway?”
“What, Red?” He shrugged. “Specter and I needed a name to refer to you, and, well. You’re a ghost hunter, dressed almost entirely in red. So, the Red Huntress.”
Valerie stopped next to the bars—and him—and stared him down. “I would comment on your naming skills, but I feel like that’s a lost cause, since you’re two ghosts called Specter and Phantom.”
“Believe me, I’ve heard it before.” He offered her a hand. “The worst part is honestly that we didn’t even coordinate that. We didn’t know the other had become a ghost until we ran into each other.”
“So shitty names are a family trait?” Valerie asked as she took his hand. Hers was warm even through her gloves.
Danny paused, thinking of literally every single one of his parents’ inventions. He shrugged. “Kinda, yeah.”
“I… I really don’t know how to feel about that, Phantom.”
He laughed, and used the moment of distraction to turn the both of them intangible. He stepped backwards through the bars, tugging Valerie along with him. Released both the intangibility and her as soon as they were through.
“That’s fair,” he ended up saying with another shrug. “My family was… a lot.”
“At least Specter still is,” Valerie said. Then she froze, seemingly startled by the fact that she’d just said something comforting to a ghost.
“That, she is,” he agreed with a nod. “Speaking of, I should go check in with her. Tell her you didn’t re-kill me or anything. Will you be alright from here on out?”
Valerie scoffed. “I don’t need your help. Yes, Phantom, I’ll be fine. Go worry over your sister.”
“I will. Stay safe, Red.”
He pushed off before she could answer, darting upwards too fast to hear anything she might shout afterwards. After that, however, he lowered his speed for the flight back home. Or, well. Back to FentonWorks. His dad could deal with Vlad fine on his own, and Jazz was around in this universe, too.
Still, even a casual speed brought him to FentonWorks quickly, and he landed on the same rooftop that he’d started the patrol on. He only had to wait for a few moments before Jazz appeared next to him.
Danny opened his mouth to greet her, but suddenly a body was pressed against him, chilly arms wrapping around him.
“Hey, Jazz,” he said, voice soft, as he wrapped his own arms around her. “It’s fine, I’m alright.”
“I was worried,” she admitted quietly. “I… I knew you’d be okay, but I couldn’t stop worrying.”
“I’m sorry.” He ran his hand through her hair, as strange and gravity-defying as his own. “I didn’t realize you’d be so worried, or I would’ve stopped talking to Val sooner. I promise, I’m fine.”
She huffed a breath in his neck, then pulled away a little. “You were talking to Valerie?”
Hook, line, and sinker. “Yeah. Warming her up a little to, well. Ghosts in general, I think, but mostly to us. How’d things go here?”
“They went fine. I didn’t have to do anything.” She pulled away entirely, but still didn’t look quite settled. “Dad beat up Plasmius with some of the inventions, and Mom and Danny just kind of shouted encouragements at him. I didn’t even have to do anything.”
“Good, good. That’s pretty much what happened in my universe too.” He nodded, rolling his spine and grinning at Jazz’ disgusted face. “Well, not the encouraging part, but Dad defeated Vlad on his own. In my universe, the vultures had grabbed Mom and, uh, Jazz, and trapped them in the weapon vault.”
Jazz blinked at him for a moment. “We have a weapons vault?”
“Yeah? It’s got a circular door and a keypad?” He shrugged. “It’s also not phaseproof, so it’s kind of worthless against ghosts. Well, it isn’t phaseproof now. They improved it when too many weapons disappeared but, well. Not much point to it if they kept telling me the password.”
“That’s ridiculous. How did I not know that it existed? You should show me where it is, later, just in case.”
“Sure thing.” He yawned. “Sorry, it’s been a long day. Shouldn’t you head to bed soon?”
She heaved a deep sigh. “Yeah, I… Wait a minute. You talked with Valerie! Danny!” She jumped forward, suddenly, crowding him. “You need to tell me what you two talked about!”
“Woah, chill, Jazz.” He gently pushed her away again. “Now?”
“Yeah, now!” she snapped at him. “You tried to change the topic so I would forget! I need to know what you two talked about so I know how to approach her tomorrow!”
“Alright, alright, I get it.” He shook his head. “Alright, so, it started like this…”
