Another Change of Pace

So, I’m going to change up how I use Tumblr again because the things I was doing here just aren’t working for me either due to time or interest or both.

I plan to still post “description” comics every so often [of which I’ve only posted one so far] - they’re just rough sketch comics that introduce and describe a certain character, concept, location or idea that will appear in some of my bigger projects in the future. But these comics will be very few and far between.

What I’ll be doing here most of the time instead, hopefully daily if I can, is posting my warm-ups. Every day I challenge myself to both draw and write, but every week I only place one specific task on myself to complete and that one specific task only ever usually requires me to either write or draw, not both. So, whichever the larger project doesn’t call for will instead be reserved for my warm up.

For instance, this week I’m animating something which requires me to draw. So because my main focus is drawing, my warm ups this week will all be writing warm ups.

So, what I’ll do is number a hand-full of my OCs, find a prompt generator [for both drawing and writing warm ups] and then randomly generate a number to choose an OC for that prompt to focus around. Then I’ll either do a quick sketch or write up five, five-sentence paragraphs max that relate to that prompt and OC and post it here.

Hopefully this works better and helps me to post more often here while also showing you guys what I’m capable of both in drawing and writing. :3

Surprise! I’m still alive!!! 

Still working on getting my shit together for the most part, but I found time to post so why not? :D

I worked on the plot time line for one of my graphic novels, Everybody Bleeds, and found that this method of putting together a time line will require a hell of a lot more wall space than I expected. 

Oh well, I’m prepared to cover my room in index cards. :3

What am I doing? Who knows. But I’m dragging you guys on the journey with me. Everything I attempt in order to get my art mind turning it’s gears again will be shared, and I’ll rate it on how good a job it does at making me want to do more. Hopefully I’ll be back to making my graphic novels again soon which will in turn mean more mini comics about them soon, but who knows. Love ya guys.

I did my first physical prints and learned a whole Hell of a lot. Learned that photo centers really like pdf files (I’m aware that’s redundant, but fuck it), learned how to resize shit without losing resolution in Photoshop. Learned colors n’ shit. And, it took a couple tries, but it turned out great and I’m happy. Here’s what I got printed.

Sorry I’ve been so lacking in posts. Life’s been throwing huge balls of shit at me, so I’ve been dealing with that. The biggest thing is that, yet again, I’m moving. 

-_-.... So!!! Once all of the dust from that has settled, I plan to be posting frequently. Just gotta get to a moderately stable spot. These side comics take more effort than I thought they would. ^-^’‘ But I still want to do them and I plan to eventually be posting at least 3-5 times a week.

So, for those of you who saw the posts before, you might be wondering where they went. I deleted them, and this is why. I’m just trying out a whole bunch of things to try and see what sticks and what helps me to be as productive as I can be. Despite my royal fuck up, I still intensely enjoyed D:BH and it’s inspired me to do tons of art related to it. I love Conner, he’s my favorite. Gonna just put that one out there now. If there’s any bright side to this fuck up, it’s that now I get to play through it again just so I can try and get everything right. And then I’m gonna play through it again... and then again... and probably again and again and again. I very well may die playing this game into oblivion.

Here is (technically) the second in my series of mini comics that talk about Everybody Bleeds, a comic book I’m working on and slowly but surely making progress on. These mini comics have been taking longer than I thought they would, but I’m really enjoying making them. They’re fun and they’re helping me to put parts of the larger project into mental folders that are ultimately easier to organize in my brain. 

Hopefully it gives some good insight into this particular character’s personality and in the next one, I’ll be showing Whisper’s personality. A task that I’m certain will be much easier. Wicked isn’t such a... cooperative person...

Sorry, life’s doing that hectic thing again. So here’s some more filler, although it’s not so much filler as it is a slight update. 

Had a tiny new addition to my family, not mine. He’s my sister’s and I’m a proud but nervous as fuck fancy aunt. 

I love him and I can’t wait to show him my art some day.

Controversiaaaaal. Lol, jk. The last thing I want is to be controversial. But I do love this seriously thought-provoking song and music video. If you haven’t seen it yet, and I do advise you watch the music video as well for the full experience, it’s called This is America by Childish Gambino. 

This part I liked especially, and the very first time I saw him do this weird ass pose and put a bullet in some poor guy’s head, I almost immediately thought to myself: I want to draw my persona in that exact position. And the more times I watched the video, the more interesting that got to me because I realized that’s exactly why he did that pose. It’s easy to mimic and we’re in a society that just looooves to copy and paste: memes, dances, movies, plot lines, etc. And yet he’s using it as a pose to murder another human being executioner style as if it’s nothing, which sort of makes me think of when my mom always used to ask me “If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you too?” Well, you’d hope not. You’d hope. 

Anyway, I figured the best way to spread Gambino’s message was to do exactly as he expected and to spread the pose like the disease it was meant to be. The important thing is to spread it with knowledge, spread it as a satire and keep it a satire. His message in the video is important and its always important to stay aware. 

Also, I got to draw me wearin’ my murder hat. :3

I think I said it in the comic itself, but this is pretty much the working plot I have for the first of two huge projects I have in mind both of which will be graphic novels. This one will depict what happens when a couple of dimension traveling psychopaths don’t get their beauty sleep. Oh such fun to be had.

Haha, true story. Great times. Greeeeaaat times. It was actually kind of easy to draw the crack in this because I was literally staring at it as I used my poor, damage buddy to make this. 

But that is the good news, anyhow. It’s still usable. The touch screen function is of course very much fucked up, but everything else functions as a normal laptop should. So until I can find some place to fix it, at least I’m still able to do my digital arts. Just gotta stop poking the screen and expecting it to do something. 

My Spider-man backpack is still dead to me for now.
