So I saw somewhere a post that talked about how some fictional characters just have a divorce vibe going on, like, at no point in time were they ever married but they just give off that feeling that they got divorced
And now I can only think of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor having that vibe
And I spent close to an hour talking about this to my sibling and how it would be a good idea for a new DC show like, you can make so much money off of just the main Batfam alone and there are literally so many people in there that it’s just an amazing idea to have them all in a show together but kind of like a Good Luck Charlie kinda thing because there’s more than enough angst in the world
But in the case of not having enough of a budget for so many characters in one show I turned to the Superfam (Batfam is Huge like, I don’t even know half of the extended family version and that’s like at least ten characters so I could see why it wouldn’t be entirely feasible to have a show that included everyone while still being good with nice character development without having a billion dollars for the budget)
The Superfam, in my personal experience, is composed of Ma & Pa Kent (farm vibes plus I refuse to have either of them die in my AU), Clark Kent (main Superman), Lois Lane (Lana? was Smallville Lois i guess??? But idk enough about her so she’s not here), Jon Kent (Superboi II), Kara Danvers (Supergirl) & Conner Kent (Superboi I)
Now I’ve stopped watching CW shows like, forever ago??? But my brother kinda keeps up with them and basically the gist is that the ratings of every other show suck Except for the Superman & Lois show (because it’s 💫new) and I saw the cover of the poster like “Ah, the werewolf dude. . . mmmhhmmm that’s Lois yes, yes that’s Johnny boi, and um is that???? Nooooo, they wouldn’t do that to Conner right???? Please tell me they didn’t make Conner blonde” and I was informed that the blonde teen is Chris???? Like
Whoms’t do ye speak of
I’m not even joking but the only way I even know of Chris is from a random fanfic I read where Dick Grayson gets his own super from an alternate reality named Chris, that’s my only point of reference for this character
But let’s talk about how Conner Kent (OG Superboi) was excluded
Now I haven’t seen any episodes of this and I probably never will (no hate I’m just really unmotivated to start new shows at all) so idk if they might mention Conner or even allude to him in one scene or something
But this was my main motivator as to my new Superfam TV Show Idea
Have Lex Luthor not be a Superman villain, he’s mainly a successful businessman, a little shady but who isn’t, and he doesn’t want to Kill Superman, he just wants to be able to have some sort of viable protection against a Kryptonian in case of an invasion (see Man of Steel + CW’s Supergirl) or suddenly having a mind controlled Superman on their hands (see Justice League series or just look up what Red Krytonite does) so he makes it like his side thing to figure out ways to neutralize or hold back a Kryptonian, Clark totally thinks that Lex is obsessed with finding a way to kill Superman because they had a bad end to their friendship in high school so he’s always suspicious of Lex, Lex hasn’t really ever tried to kill him though because 1. It’s not that deep Clark ok? And 2. He’s a busy busy man with a very important job position and a company to run so does he look like he has time to harbor an obsession over someone who rejected him back in high school??? You’re more of a constant side quest Clark, so stop trying to put him on the JL watchlist ( btw ik about Lena Luthor, haven’t forgotten her but she doesn’t really play a part in this AU so let’s just have her and Kara off to the side doing their own thing ok? Ok)
Lex, Bruce & Oliver all knew each other when they were kids and went to the same school, this is just an extra detail I wanted to happen because Lex and Ollie definitely know Bruce is Batman and absolutely HATE having to deal with Brucie Wayne because “I know you’re just doing this to irritate me Bruce, you just want to see if you can make a vein throb in my forehead but I will valiantly ignore your dumbassery because I know you hate being Brucie just as much as we hate having to put up with Brucie so suck on that you petty bitch” because they bonded in ye olden days, childhood friends so to speak
Anyway so Cadmus tries to get Lex to make an investment in their company, seeing as Cadmus is shadier than Gotham when it rains Lex is basically like ‘no ❤️’ and doesn’t make a deal with them, Cadmus gets mad at not having Lexcorp financially backing them so Lex has an ‘accident’ and they steal his DNA, then they steal Superman’s DNA somehow and *boom* a Superboi is formed
Because I don’t know much about how the Core Four became friends in the first place (Robin Tim Drake, Impulse Bart Allen, Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark & Superboy Conner Kent) I’m just gonna go with what happens in the show Young Justice except it’s the Core Four becoming the Core Four when they liberated Conner (who at this point believes himself to be a clone of Superman and has only been given Superboy as a name) from Cadmus, same shit goes down meaning that Clark is just straight up NOT vibing with Conner, Conner just wants a mentor please, and the Bats kinda give Clark a passive aggressive treatment for not taking Superboy under his wing or at least agreeing to teach him how to control his powers, especially Tim because that’s his Bestie so yes
Anyway, YJ saves ppl and is on the news or whatever and Lex finds out about Superboy’s existence that way, so he researches this new super on his free time, finds out that he came from Cadmus and claims to be a clone of Superman, yet doesn’t have the whole power set Superman has??? Wait, didn’t Lex reject Cadmus’ proposal and the got into a mysterious accident??? Long story short Lex goes connecting the dots, hacks into Cadmus’ files, finds out he technically has a son with Superman and decides to take Superboy under his wing (I’ll go more in depth as to why Lex would want to do this in this AU later but the abridged version would be that he wants a kid but doesn’t have the time nor interest in finding a wife??? Also the radiation that made him bald as a kid also affected his reproductive system so while it’s not impossible for him to conceive kids he would have a very hard time actually getting to father a kid)
Him and Conner, who still goes by Superboy at this point in time, meet up and Conner finds out that here is a parent figure that is both available and actively wants to be a part of his life, so he agrees to get to know Lex and the series would focus on them becoming a family, with a special episode when Conner asks Lex for help in choosing a name for himself and it ends up with him agreeing to become Conner Luthor, it would be heartwarming and Mercy would make sure it happens within a day (Mercy is Lex’s bodyguard/PA but they’re also besties and she becomes the Responsible yet Chaotic Aunt as Lex and Conner’s father-son relationship progresses)
Obviously Clark becomes super suspicious of Lex getting close to his ‘clone’ and when Conner decides to go public as Lex’s son he’s like *GASP* and calls up Bruce because we need to get on this Bruce, Lex is a villain and blah blah blah but Bruce would be over Clark’s shit and hit him with that “actually, Lex was also an unwilling genetic donor to Superboy, who actually is not your clone either, and has agreed to take him in, I’ve been on this shit since they first met and the kid is doing just fine so if you keep poking your nose in their business then that’s your problem but you better be ready to pay child support bitch . . . have a good day ❤️”
The series would just focus on Conner getting to have a good parent figure in Lex and go more into their civilian lives rather than focusing on the superhero thing, Conner, Bart, Tim & Cassie have a sleepover at Lex’s house at one point, Lex totally Knows what’s up but it’s all good because these are his baby’s friends and they’re good people who are more than willing to prank Superman for rejecting his kid and giving his baby self worth issues (Mercy supports them)
Anyway, that’s basically the idea for a new Superhero Show

Ducktales AU Concept Because My Brain Runs On Concepts I Can’t Finish:
Dewey actually waits for the signal to start the boat and they actually leave for Cape Suzette without Donald finding out. He believes they’re ready to be left alone for small periods at a time and while he is still hired on with Glomgold the obvious complications there happen and he simply just goes back to whatever he was doing, because Scrooge wasn’t reinvigorated by the kids and never ended up going to Atlantis in the first place. Cut to the ambiguously set point of over a year later, and we get the return of Della from the moon, but to a drastically different world than the one she comes back to in the show. (For the sake of the au I’m just gonna say the moon invasion doesn’t happen cause the point of this is to focus on the characters and the imminent and impossible to stop moon threat would actually be impossible to stop in this au). I’m just gonna go through the characters and where they’d be at in this setting.
The first, and arguably one of the most affected is  Scrooge: He never got back into adventuring due to the absence of the kids pushing him back into the business. He continues to be profitable and avoid Glomgold’s attempts on his life but he’s generally less cheery and interested in the world than he is in the show. He cares about money and he only cares about money. Everything and everyone else are a second thought to him. Like she does in canon Della makes for McDuck Manor immediately upon return to earth only to find that the only one waiting for her is Scrooge. He opens the door to find her and his initial reaction is joy at seeing her but a secondary reaction he feels poking at the back of his mind is one of shame that this is the state he’s in for her to return to, particularly when she asks him where her kids are and he just tells her he doesn’t know. There’s a look of betrayal in her eyes when she realizes that he just abandoned everyone and cut off every aspect of the life he used to have and she doesn’t even try to hide it. Scrooge wants to offer to come with her to find them but something holds him back and he doesn’t. She runs off to find them herself and despite everything he wants to the contrary Scrooge just goes to his office like he would any other day, knowing that the person he’s been missing for over ten years now is finally returned after he thought she was dead and here he is acting like nothing is different.
Launchpad is fun because he never has any reason for Scrooge to find out he’s a pilot. He tries to mention it to Scrooge occasionally, like we see in the first episode, but just like in that episode he’s always ignored. Not that Scrooge would have any adventures for Launchpad to take him to anyway. So Launchpad continues being nothing but Scrooge’s driver. And that’s enough for him because he’s Launchpad you know? And he still looks up to Scrooge a lot, but he’s never given the opportunity to grow close to him, or anyone really. Fittingly enough for Launchpad, he’s just been living life on autopilot for a couple years, not really expecting anything to ever change.
Webby has two distinct directions you can go and I chose to go for the sadder one. She continues to be shut in the mansion. I choose to take her speech in the first episode about how she hasn’t ever left literally and say that Beakley kept her there her entire life. The possible other direction I mentioned is one where she only grows more anxious and hopeful to see the outside world and she’s basically just even Webbier than she already is. But that’s less angsty and enjoyable for me to mess with so instead I’m gonna go with she hit this wall at some point in the year or so between when she would have met HDL and when Della comes back from the moon. The weight of being alone starts to get to her and she starts to wonder if all her optimism and hopes are just a poor defense system put up to let her pretend she’s gonna have a better future than the life she’s got. She also makes continuous attempts to interact with Scrooge but the more he lets age settle in and distance himself from adventures the less she feels engaged with his existence. He starts to feel to her not like an idol or a model to live her life by but like a living, breathing symbol of how her hopes and positivity are shallow and baseless. Cause Scrooge McDuck was the only thing that kept her going for years and this is nothing like the hero she read about. But that’s the thing. She’s only really read about him. As far as anything heroic goes. So she reaches the final breaking point of all of this and decides that Scrooge is a fake and leaves behind her signature bright, bubbly attitude on life. This is the state she’s in when the story starts, to the point where a scene happens at some point after she gets drawn into the plot where she’s been outside of the manor now and Dewey offers her a hamburger and she says it looks disgusting.
Lena never got the chance to become friends with Webby and get her route into McDuck Manor. But that also means she never got the chance to learn about being good from the literal goodest person in the universe. She isn’t interested in doing the right thing and not hurting Scrooge or anything she’s just following Magica’s orders cause that’s what she’s being forced to do. But as part of the whole thing where she hasn’t got an in route into the manor she also hasn’t gotten any means of being successful in really any capacity in this endeavor. As a result Magica has... not. been kind to her. So while she isn’t evil she’s been living as magica’s meat puppet with the witch constantly in her head tormenting her for her failures for months on end and she was already morally ambiguous to begin with. So she’d take out Magica in a heartbeat if she could but there’s nothing that says she wouldn’t just explode afterwards.
Mark Beaks never had his B.U.D.D.Y. contested because Launchpad was never told about the self driving car and even if he had been he didn’t have the standing with Scrooge to make a difference and he didn’t have Dewey to help him make the declaration. As a result the product went up without any hitches. It was a massive success until BulbTech kicked in, turned evil, and suddenly it wasn’t. Anyone who could afford a B.U.D.D.Y. was using one, and the results were catastrophic. Not even Beaks had enough good press and money to pay for all that. He narrowly avoided prison but he was never taken seriously or given any chances to build up a company again. He still lives his life stealing technology and messing with inventions as he always did but now he does it a lot more illegally, a lot more dangerously, and a lot less sanely. Most devastatingly though, he gets like, no good press. People won’t even be caught dead following his twitter. He’s living his worst nightmare and he’s going to do whatever it takes to change that.
Gyro fires Fenton for leaking BulbTech on the internet and never looks back. He continues the work that Scrooge wants him to do and Fenton never drives him to push the envelope or do anything even close to what Gizmoduck becomes. He continues with his own dangerous projects and ideas but he does play it safe for some time. He’s content to just be making stuff, and Scrooge is content to just have stuff made for him. But he also never really gets to unleash that, well, part of Gearloose where he’s got a gear loose and it seems like he might just snap and make something really wild any day now.
Fenton never had to become Gizmoduck that iconic first time, so he just. Didn’t. The armor was left in its development phase as it was, and Fenton was never even considered to be the man in the suit when it reached testing. And it was only used for the menial tasks Gyro originally designed it for, as Fenton was the only one who had come up with the idea to use it for Gizmoduck at all, and he’s not there anymore, not that Gyro would listen to him anyway. Though it wasn’t as if Scrooge was in any state of mind to be hiring any superheroes in the first place. So Fenton continues trying to find some way to make a difference in the world with his intelligence but it... never really pans out.
Drake gets the role in the Darkwing movie, as in canon, as Scrooge is still interested enough in money to listen to the proposition for the film and try it out. The visit Launchpad has with Jim goes as his visits always do, and the fact that Dewey isn’t there to assist with Launchpad and attract Jim’s attention means Jim just gives up and leaves as soon as Launchpad faints, not even listening to what Drake is trying to tell him. So Jim never finds out about the movie until it’s already released, and Drake experiences no opposition in the filming, barely even remembering his one interaction with Launchpad at all. Scrooge cuts the budget for the finale but lets the movie go through anyway, despite his better judgement, mostly because he already spent the money. It’s a commercial and critical disaster and Drake’s acting career never gets off the ground, and he never has the inspiration to become Darkwing for real.
Donald continues to live just as we see him in the first episode, doing his best to support his kids while bouncing from job to job because he just can’t hold one down for any length of time. Life is hard for him but it’s the same as he’s always known it for the past ten years so he’s used to it, and having the kids with him is always enough for him.
Huey continues to make a name for himself in the Junior Woodchucks (i.e. robotics champion four years running) but he never really gets the chance to light the fire under his curiosity and love of knowledge. He learns as much as he can but it’s only as much as he’s ever been told he can. He learns within the boundaries of school and the Junior Woodchucks and that’s kind of enough for him because he never considers how much he could learn beyond the boundaries of how things have always worked.
Dewey is as desperate to be famous and appreciated as he always is, and Dewey DewNight is most certainly still a thing, but it’s even less viewed and interesting than it is in canon. He’s not letting himself get disheartened but he looks at the way Donald lives on a boat and can’t hold a job and wonders if that’s what he’s gonna be someday. If despite all of his efforts and aspirations he’s going to end up falling at every turn and there’ll just be nothing he can dew about it. He doesn’t let it weigh him down too much but he’d be lying if he said it didn’t keep him up at night sometimes.
Louie is actually doing amazing. He’s living his best life. He’s lazy and scheme-y, still doing things like plotting that venture to Cape Suzette we see in that first episode, but he never has to wonder about his usefulness or place in the family, cause it’s just him, Dewey, and Huey, along with Donald. Donald is unemployed half the time, Huey is gonna be some big genius scientist guy sure, and maybe Dewey’s gonna get big someday but right now they’re just kids, and there’s absolutely nothing that makes Louie feel like that’s not enough. He doesn’t do as much here, there’s not any schemes that will make him rich or any Louie Inc, but the seeds of those ideas are still in his soul somewhere, he’ll find them when he needs them he’s pretty sure.
And that’s all the characters that I can think of to get into off the top of my head. I really just did this for fun so I don’t know if I’ll ever be doing anything else with it but these are all the ideas I got. Feel free to ask me about them or anything I’m just havin fun with it.

Listen bud, hunger games au, Andrews the mockingjay, Neil’s been captured by his dad aka the game maker
if you’re looking for an extended hunger games au @gluupor‘s on ao3 is my all-time favourite, but here’s a oneshot (are oneshots all i know how to do??)
*
Andrew doesn’t want to be here. The whole place is writhing with death and misery, but there’s a whole camera crew asking him to interact with these people, these men and women and children who are fighting and dying for an idealistic cause.
Andrew is not an empathetic person. Kevin says that doesn’t matter. Just the sight of him, with his Mockingjay pin, will be enough to inspire hope.
At least he’s here, shepherding Andrew around, doing all the talking. Nicky’s being all amicable too, crouched by overcrowded beds and talking nonsense. Aaron’s probably somewhere, being useful.
His team. His support. Coming out onto the front lines with him, because they genuinely believed that Andrew was going to change the world.
When Andrew volunteered in Aaron’s place, he didn’t think he’d ever see his family again.
Just goes to show: nothing is predictable. Not in a world like this.
Andrew beelines for the lonely kids, the ones without parents, shunted into the corner. There’s one with a stump instead of an arm, like Kevin, and one who was avoxxed in the raid, like Nicky’s boyfriend. They all learned sign language for him, so Andrew kneels on the floor and says hello.
The kid’s eyes light up when he realises Andrew can talk to him. The others get excited too, crowding around.
They ask him questions. He talks whilst he signs, keeping his voice low. He tells them what sunrise looks like from the capitol’s training tower, how to properly throw a knife, why you choosing your family is important, and protecting them even more so. Their eyes are as wide as saucers, drinking in every word. Andrew has always been good with kids.
He realises that the cameras have been trained on him and stops talking. The kids get sad, but then a nurse comes around to move Andrew along so that they can have their checkups. Andrew hoists himself up off the ground, ignoring his cousin as he comes closer. He has tears in his eyes.
“That was beautiful,” he says. “Neil would -”
“Shut up,” Andrew snaps, because there’s a lot of things he tries not to think about, and Neil is one of them.
His and Neil’s story is a long one. Andrew was in the 5th district, the fostered son of the mayor. He had a best friend, one he didn’t tell anyone about lest his older brother, Drake, discover how pretty Neil was. Neil’s mother was overprotective, hiding him away from the public eye, but together they would climb outside the district’s boundaries and play together in the woods.
Then Andrew met his biological family when Major Cass Spear was invited to the 12th district for diplomacy. He decided to stay. He was twelve at the time: he and Aaron entered the reapings that year. His cousin had three years left, but would never be voted in: he was also the son of a terrible mayor. When Nicky turned 18, Tilda died, his parents disowned him, and he looked after the twins for another 2 years before Aaron was reaped and Andrew took his place.
That year, a scrawny seventeen year old from the 2nd district, who wasn’t a career tribute, volunteered himself. It wasn’t until Andrew had met all the tributes in the capitol that he realised who that kid was: Neil, his childhood best friend, who was fulfilling an old promise of protection.
Andrew had hated him quite a bit for it: only one of them was meant to escape the arena. There were bets placed on how soon Andrew would kill him and how. None of them knew the truth. None of them knew that Andrew would rather die than kill Neil.
So, in the end, when it’d just been the two of them, they swore a truce. They fought against the capitol’s attempts at whittling them down till the capitol gave up. Andrew thought they’d beat the system: it took him a hellish victory tour, another trip back to the arena and losing Neil to the capitol to know that wasn’t true.
Neil. Neil, Neil, Neil. The other reason Andrew doesn’t want to be here. Neil’s back in district 13, recovering from his weeks spent being tortured at the capitol’s hands. The rebels weren’t given the chance to grab him before the capitol snatched him away. Andrew had paced grooves into the ground during his absence.
And when he came back? Well, Andrew would’ve rathered that Neil forgot him entirely. Instead they - his father, his worst nightmare and most talented gamemaker in the capitol - had turned Neil against him. Made him loathe Andrew with every fibre of his being. Enough so that he’d tried to strangle Andrew when they’d first been reunited.
He is better now, but still avoiding Andrew at every possible junction. Andrew inexplicably still wants to stay by his side. Abby says his memory will return with time. Andrew will just have to wait.
Nicky’s eyes go wide. “I thought you were going to sort things out with him -”
But then Kevin is yelling, sirens are wailing. The hospital begins to dissolve into panic. Andrew only has to hear someone yell “Bombs!” to understand, being directed out of the building. Someone’s trying to set up artillery to shoot them down. It’s too late. Andrew’s lot makes it out, but only a handful of patients are able to stumble out after them before the building explodes. Andrew looks over his shoulder as they’re running towards where their helicopter is descending. The warehouse structure has collapsed inwards. Those who hadn’t died in the explosion are being torn apart by shrapnel and debris. All those kids. Gone.
“Turn the camera on,” he murmurs, holding out his hands. The bomber planes aren’t turning around, but there’s a second fleet of carrier craft behind them, bringing peacekeepers by the dozen.
“Andrew,” Aaron says, stricken. The camera’s red light is already flashing.
“This is what you get for remaining neutral,” Andrew spat out, flinging a pointed hand behind him at the burning hospital. “Massacred. Think about that next time you assume the capitol will be on your side.”
He’s facing away from the carnage. It’s the only reason that he doesn’t see the peacekeeper aim and fire. He doesn’t even realise he’s been shot until the rest of him start screaming.
By then it’s too late: he’s falling, falling into darkness, wishing that he’d never involved himself in this stupid rebellion in the first place.
*
He blinks awake and stares at the ceiling. District thirteen, being a burner district, doesn’t have many variations in its ceilings, but Andrew knows this one all too well.
He’s in the hospital.
His hands go to his arms: the armbands are still there, but they’re rolled down and his knives are gone. There’s a morphine drip in his left elbow and fluids in his right. He can barely feel his body.
“I have your knives,” says a familiar voice. Andrew has to be dreaming.
Neil’s appearance has always fluctuated: when they’d first met, his hair had been black and his eyes natural blue. During the games he’d started off with brown hair and brown eyes, but a lack of resources meant that he’d ended up forgoing the contacts and letting his roots grow out. He’d forgone the brown eyes but kept up with the dye till the second games, which hadn’t lasted long enough for any major changes.
Now he is fully and unequivocally Nathaniel Wesniniski, son of Nathan, scarring on his cheeks, arms and torso telling a narrative that is a hard-won fight. Nathan and his lackey Lola had both been killed brutally in Neil’s rescue. Andrew is glad.
“Hey,” Neil says, when Andrew isn’t exactly forthcoming. “How are you faring?”
“You’re not here to finish the job?”
Neil’s lips quirk. “Drama queen. Your suit was fitted with kelvar: there’s a lot of bruising, but you’ll be fine in a week.”
Andrew drops his head back down onto his pillow. “Dammit.”
Neil snorts. He’s in a good mood. Andrew can tell he’s still on edge, but he was always a paranoid kid. It’s not going to take some genial bedside manner to undo everything his father did.
“I know that everything they told me was fake,” he says, looking at the knives in his hands. “I have always been a jumble of identities and false pretences. This  shouldn’t be news to you.”
Andrew just hums. He can’t even wiggle his toes. How the hell did they had stuff this strong down here? They were all eating onion slop rations but had morphine good enough to even send Dan into a spiral.
“I gave this knife to you,” Neil continues, holding up a sleek blade. Matte black. Andrew’s sharpest blade and perfectly weighted for throwing. “This was my mother’s. You must have been very special to me if I gave you this.”
“I hate you,” Andrew says.
“Are you sure?” Neil asks. “Because I’m not.”
Andrew just huffs.
“I remember...” he hesitates. “I remember us. Together. In your district 12 victory house, after the tour...then again, in the tower before the 75th games.”
Andrew stares at the wall opposite him. He really doesn’t want to have this conversation. “It didn’t mean anything.”
“I think it did,” Neil says, softspoken. He’s never soft-spoken. “My father - he couldn’t create new memories. He could only twist old ones. For me to hate you as much as I did, I must have really...You know. Lo-”
“Don’t,” Andrew says, because this a war and if he hears something like that fate will go against him. “I’m not your answer, Neil.”
Neil shrugs. “Okay.” Then, with methodical precision, he checks Andrew’s vitals, removes the needles and rolls up his bands. Then he slides the knives in place, fingertips briefly brushing over Andrew’s skin. Andrew, for some reason, lets him.
“Your last morphine dose was seven hours ago,” Neil says, settling back into his chair. “It’ll wear off soon. You were asleep for nearly 2 days, did you know? Aaron says the bruising is horrific. You probably won’t be able to move for another 3 days. But hey, at least all the districts are in revolt now. You getting shot on camera actually helped the cause...”
He chatters innocuously. Andrew listens. Neil’s still nervous, still schooling his bodily reactions of hatred and disgust, but he’s here anyway. Distracting Andrew from his own snare of a mind.
Maybe there’s goodness in this terrible, terrible world.
Maybe Andrew can have it.
He’ll just have to live long enough to find out.

“Children. Chloe wanted to say something to all of you.” The teacher started.
“Yes. I wanted to apologize for my utterly ridiculous behavior in the past and hope that you will give me chance to earn forgiveness from the better part of you.” Chloe stated nonchalantly.
----------
The class exploded into murmurs. Chloe was standing there. It was probably the first time Marinette saw her actually uncomfortable. The blonde was often irritated, tense or even uneasy, but not in this way. She was looking ashamed, but not with her actions. Both damian and Marinette were quite good at reading people and they could tell that Chloe was sincere in her apology.
Alya finally broke from her murmuring with Lila, stood up and looked at the blonde. “How can we know you actually changed. For all we know this might just be some scheme of yours to get Ladybug to trust you again and give you a Miraculous back!” She accused her.
“Yeah! You were always just mean and self-centered. Why would you want to change now?!” Kim shouted.
“You are just sad that Sabrina finally decided not to stick with you!” Rose also joined this
“I can’t believe I stuck with you for so long!” Sabrina huffed and turned away not to look at Chloe.
The blonde looked distraught at the class. She knew that just by apologizing she would achieve little, but Chloe hoped that at least they would not shun her completely. The last few weeks were hard. Now not even Adrien talked to her anymore. A single tear formed in her eye.
“Don’t try playing on our emotions witch!” Alya shouted with anger. “We are all past your lies and manipulation!”
“I estimate ninety percent chance that this is all a plot.” Max stated calmly.
Lila didn’t say anything aloud, but she was smiling in a twisted way that could be even called evil. She only watched as Chloe was slowly being torn apart by the class. Soon Hawkmoth would get a very strong Akuma.
“You were never even my friend!” Sabrina shouted.
“We don’t want you here!”
“Go to New York and stop bothering us!”
“You are just sad, pathetic bitch!” Alya fumed with anger. How dare Chloe try to manipulate them into liking her again.
Tears streamed down Chloe’s cheeks. She collapsed onto the floor and sobbed. Marinette decided that this was enough. She jumped from her place and walked in front of the class. “What is wrong with you?! Don’t you see you are hurting her!?”
“Shut up bully! You are even worse than her!” Kim didn’t care what the blunette said.
“Yeah! The two of you are worth one another! Both of you should get lost!” Rose was also not holding back with insults
“No.” Alya said. “Marinette is worse. At least Chloe doesn’t try to sleep with random guy just to get Adrien’s attent…” She didn’t finish when a metal pen suddenly embed itself right in front of her at least an inch deep in the desk.
“That’s enough from you.” Damian growled. He then walked down with hand twitching. Probably the most irritating thing was that the teacher watched this whole scene and didn’t bother to react.
Marinette kneeled next to Chloe. “Don’t worry about them. They are not worth getting akumatized for. Listen to me Chloe. Everything’s all right. I… I forgive you. I saw that this was sincere.”
The blonde looked up, still having tears in her eyes. “Dupain-Cheng? But… But I was the worst to you...”
“But you try to change. And…” Marinette felt something wet hit the back of her head. She touched it and realized that someone spit at her.
Damian’s eyes were cold fury. He was so focused on the scene in front of him that he stopped paying attention to the class. He slowly turned to them. A silent anger burned in his eyes. Most people in the class flinched and some tried to sink in their chair. Juleka looked particularly guilty Damian noticed. But Alya and Lila were completely unfazed by him.
“tt. I will say it once, and very slowly so your collective one brain cell understands it. I do not care about any one of you morons. I do not want to make friends with anyone of you because you are not worth it. The only person in this whole class that so far I consider valuable is Marinette, which she proved this very moment. So I will make it crystal clear. Back. Off.” He growled.
“You are protecting two biggest bullis and dare talk to us about worthiness?” Alya refused to shut up, which in other situation would be a risk to her health, but by sheer stroke of luck Damian ignored her and instead turned to Marinette.
The blunette helped Chloe up. “I don’t think she is emotional state to participate in the lesson right now Madame Bustier. Can I walk her out?”
“If you believe that’s best for her.” The teacher stated with a smile. Damian held the urge to growl again. Instead, he just followed Marinette. “And where are you going, young man?”
“I need to make a call to my brother.” Damian stated. Luckily, he was here under fake name so they had no idea who his brother was. Teacher didn’t say anything.
-------
Outside of the class Chloe hugged Marinette tightly, crying yet another river of tears. “Thank you Dupain-Cheng. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
“I-it’s okay Chloe. I couldn’t just let them talk to you like that.”
Damian watched the whole situation with awe. He was focused on planning ways to slaughter the class and make it look like unfortunate accident, but Marinette instead chose to comfort the victim. She did not care about what they said even when they spat on her and insulted her instead. Justice, not Vengeance. Even after five years he had trouble with comprehending this idea. But Marinette lived by it. Right in front of his eyes she comforted someone who bullied her for better part of her life. Damian too knew that this apology was genuine, but he would not be able to forgive so easily. It was almost naive from Marinette to do so.
“I… I don’t think I want to return there. At least not today.” Chloe stated. She slowly calmed down. “They were ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous!” Marinette smiled at Chloe’s catchphrase.
Damian pulled his phone and called someone nicknamed ‘replacement’. After three rings there was an answer.
“What do you want Demon Spawn?” Tim sounded at the other side.
“Call the school and tell them that three students are to be excused for today. We had a situation here. Explain later. Got to go.” Before Drake had a chance to ask for explanation, Damian hanged up and quickly texted him the names.
“Uh… I think that’s not how it works. Besides, I left my things in class…” Marinette stated unsure.
“It will work.” Damian said firmly. “Now let’s go. I will get your things.” He walked inside the class and Marinette heard some shouts from the inside, but Damian walked outside with a grin.
“You didn’t hurt anyone?” she asked him pretty unsure.
“Believe me I wanted.” He simply stated and handed her the backpack.
“Who is your friend Dupain-Cheng?” Chloe asked. Marinette smiled with relief. The blonde was already feeling better apparently.
“This is Damian… Grayson. From yesterday, remember?”
“I wasn’t in class yesterday.” Chloe stated. “I was… never mind.” She stated and started to walk outside. “Uh… Would you like to go with me Dupain-Cheng?”
“Okay. Honestly… I don’t want to go back there either.” The bluenette stated. “And for their own goods it’s best if Damian don’t go in there alone.” She smiled at the boy.
“I swear. I was gone for one day and you got yourself a boyfriend. Only you Dupain-Cheng.” Chloe grabbed Marinette and dragged her with her out of the school.
“tt.” Damian followed them quickly before he lost them.
-------
They arrived at the Hotel  Le Grand Paris in record time. It wasn’t even noon.
“Uh… Chloe? Do you have any plan whatsoever?” Marinette finally asked. She stayed silent for the way, instead just switching between sending Damian an apologetic glares and watching Chloe ramble about their class. She knew that the blonde needed to talk all the emotions out.
“Of course I have a plan. I want to introduce you to my mother properly. Then we can go to my room and I can do something with your clothes… For a fashion designer you dress ridiculous. Utterly Ridiculous!” Marinette had to admit she was not really a fashion icon that day. Her outfit was completely mismatched. She just took first things that she managed to grab and put them on in the rush. She took a second look at her clothes and gave her a sheepish smile.
“I kinda maybe might have slightly almost overslept.”
“Scratch that. We are going to my room first. I think we wear more or less the same size.” Chloe stated and dragged the bluenette to the elevator. Damian for the whole trip just walked behind them and let two girls solve it between themselves. He decided it was best if he just didn’t intervene. It was… interesting thing to watch. Chloe pretty much ‘adopted’ the girl. And Damian knew better than to step into this situation. Call it personal experience.
They got into her room and Chloe locked the doors.
“Okay. Now you explain to me Dupain-Cheng how did you manage to get a mysterious Damian Wayne, the damned ‘Ice Prince’ of Gotham,  to act like a lost puppy toward you.”

Chapter 2 | Masterlist
Chapter 3:
"So, you remember the plan?"
"Yeah, we got it," said Cassie into her earpiece, having to raise her voice to be heard over the pouring rain outside. "Don't worry about us, we're fine."
"Good to know," Tim responded into the comlink.
It was the night of the auction. Zuko was wearing a black suit while Cassie was wearing a red dress. Both had their masks on. Kon, also known as Superboy, was sitting in the driver's seat. He was acting as their chauffeur, and was there as backup in case anything went wrong. Zuko rolled his eyes as he heard a slurping sound in his com link, presumably from Tim taking a sip of coffee.
"That was gross," Kon sighed. "Don't do that."
Tim ignored him. "Proud of you both. Remember, if the wrong person gets their hands on the magyntite, not even Superman will be able to stop them." He paused. "No pressure, though.”
"Wow, you're great at pep talks." Zuko adjusted the mask on his face, making sure it hid his scar. "You ready, Cassie?"
"I was born ready," Cassie responded with a grin. "Now, let's go, Henry."
"After you, Larissa." Zuko grabbed an umbrella and stepped out of the  self-driving black limousine they'd borrowed from Bruce. He went around to her side of the vehicle and opened her door for her. Cassie looped her arm through his, muttering a thank you as Zuko raised the umbrella above both of them. They walked into the casino.
Just inside, a bouncer stepped in front of them. "How tall is the eagle's wingspan?"
"That means do magic," Tim said through the coms.
"Uh," Zuko's mind raced as he tried to think of a spell on the spot. "Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" he finally said, and a ball of fire appeared over his closed fist. The bouncer nodded, and unhooked the red rope, allowing them to step inside. It was bright and loud and flashy, and Zuko had to stop for a moment to get his bearings.
"You good?" Cassie whispered, placing a hand on his chest to steady him. "It's okay. Let's just go downstairs, follow me." She gently led him towards the back of this casino. Tim had told them that there was a staircase behind the bathrooms, and the basement was where the auction was taking place. They walked past the doors that said 'men' and 'woman' and opened the third door, revealing stairs going down to a concrete basement. "You okay now?" Cassie asked as they began to descend.
"Yeah," Zuko grunted. "I'm fine." They walked down a dark and damp hallway, a stark contrast to the bright lights and clean floors of the upper floor. The reached a huge room with a wrap around balcony overlooking the bottom floor. Many people, all wearing masks, were crowded together.
"It's about to start, Mr. Henry," Cassie said. "Let's go sign in." The pair walked through the people until they reached the stairs leading to the bottom floor. Arms still linked, they walked down the stairs.
"There's a ton of people here," Zuko mused. "I wonder what they all want to buy."
Cassie shrugged. "Drugs. Artifacts. Who knows."
They made their way to the middle of the throng of people and sat down in two of the chairs. The auction started soon after, and the words the auctioneer was saying sounded like white noise to Zuko. Finally, twenty minutes in, Tim's voice in his ear made Zuko flinch. "Magyntite is next," he said. "Be ready."
Sure enough, the man held up a silver briefcase. "Magyntite!" he yelled. "This drug is like Kobra Venom! Bulk up your muscles, lady and gentlemen. Do I hear... two million?" Zuko raised his hand and the same time another man did. The man glared at Zuko, who did the same.Back and forth this happened, Zuko and this man trying to get the magyntite. In the end, though, Zuko and Cassie got it for $45,000,000.
"Holy crap," Cassie breathed as they walked back up the stairs. "That man wanted to kill you."
Zuko hummed. "He isn't the only one."
Cassie gave him an amused look."Is that so, Sir Henry?"
"Indeed it is, Lady Larissa."
Golden eyes gazed into blue for a second, both having small smiles on their faces.
  "Yo, you guys get it?"
"Uh, yeah," Cassie replied, breaking eye contact. "Yeah, we're heading back now."
Zuko's face reddened. He hadn't felt any feeling similar to that since Mai, when he was thirteen. He shook his head to clear it. Don't be stupid, he told himself. Don't even go there. No chance of that happening.
"You good?" Cassie asked, raising an eyebrow under her mask. Zuko cleared his throat and nodded a little too quickly.
"Me? I'm great. Splendid. Never been better!" he babbled. "Oh Agni, I bet Kon is going crazy! Uh, let's go see him!" He linked his arm with Cassie's and half-led half-drug her through the club and out the door.
"And the lovely couple returns!" Kon cheered as Zuko opened the door for Cassie. "I missed you! Tim told me I couldn't listen to my podcast because I had to stay alert so I've been bored out of my mind."
"Oh, poor baby!" Cassie mocked. "Do you need a massage and a nice cup of tea?"
"I do, actually."
"Too bad, Superbrat."
Zuko looked out the window. He missed his uncle's tea.
 Only 11 more months.
___
The next morning, Zuko, Duke and Damian were at the table eating breakfast. Zuko was about to put a piece of bacon in his mouth when he felt eyes on him. Looking up, he frowned as he met Duke's eyes. "What?
Duke's eyebrows were furrowed in disbelief. "Dude, it's 7:00 in the morning. Why are you already dressed?"
Zuko blinked. While the others were in their pajamas- Duke in an old t-shirt and shorts and Damian in his silk robe -Zuko was in jeans and a Ralph Lauren button-up, his hair in a topknot. He would've put shoes on, if it weren't for Alfred's no-shoes-in-the-house rule. "I'm used to getting up at dawn and getting ready. It's what I've done for three years."
Duke shook his head. "You're making me feel like a slob, Zu."
"You will not feel that way for long," Damian spoke up. "For I hear Drake coming down the stairs."
Sure enough, Tim walked around the corner, staggering to the table. He was in an over sized black Superman shirt and his boxers with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. His long hair was a mess, and the circles under his eyes made it look as though he had been punched in the face.  Alfred pulled out a chair beside Zuko, a cup of coffee already in his hand. Tim stumbled towards the chair, looking as though he was about to pass out. He sat down in the chair slowly, and Alfred immediately put the cup of coffee in front of him. Tim blinked slowly, before picking up the coffee and bringing it to his lips.
"Well," Duke chuckled. "I no longer feel like a slob."
Damian wrinkled his nose, scoffing at Tim. "You are a disgrace, Drake. Have some self respect." Tim stared at him owl-eyed in response.
"Just give him like ten minutes," Duke said. "Anyways! So I heard you went on a mission last ni-"
"Master Duke!" Alfred interrupted him sharply. "Might I remind you the rules of breakfast?"
Duke seemed to shrink into himself as he answered in a small voice, "No vigilante talk at the breakfast table." Alfred nodded in approval before going back into the kitchen. Duke turned back to Zuko. "Later."
Zuko hummed in response.
--
As soon as breakfast was over, Duke ran to Zuko excitedly. "So!? How'd it go?"
"It went fine," Zuko replied. "I mean, we went in, got the stuff and got back in the car."
"That's it? No fights?"
"No fights."
"What about Cassie? Any emotions?"
Zuko coughed, his eyes widening. "What!? No! Don't be stupid!"
Duke laughed. "Dude, you're gonna have to get better at lying if you want to join the business."
"Which could start right now, if you want." Zuko and Duke whirled around to see Bruce holding a cup of coffee. "You've been here for a month. You can fight and you're smart. You're welcome to start training today, if you want."
Zuko's jaw dropped. "Uh, yeah! That'd be great!"
Bruce smiled."Fantastic. Go get changed into something comfortable and we'll start."
Zuko practically sprinted to his room, but before he could change, his phone chimed.
Cassie Sandsmark: good morning doofus
.Zuko grinned in spite of himself.
Zuko Wayne: good morning!
Cassie Sandsmark: how'd you sleep?
Zuko Wayne: great but i don't know if tim slept at all he's barely alive right now
Cassie Sandsmark: sounds like tim
Cassie Sandsmark: so when u joining the hero business
Zuko Wayne: right now,, I'm about to start training
Cassie Sandsmark: YAY TELL ME HOW IT GOES
Zuko Wayne: of course
__
Training, Zuko decided, was difficult. It'd been a month since he'd started, and while he was improving, he was sore and sick of computers.
"If I have to break another one of Tim's codes, I'll kill myself," he groaned, flopping on to the couch beside Damian, who nodded.
"Every time Drake speaks, I want to kill myself." Zuko eyed him wearily.
"That's harsh."
"Such is reality." Damian flipped to the next page of the book he was reading. "So, your first patrol is tomorrow?"
Zuko grinned."Yeah. I'm so excited." He sat up, cracking his knuckles. "Gonna be a blast."
"Are you finally adequate at lying?"
Zuko winced. "It took me a while but yeah, I got it."
"Good. We cannot have you exposing our secret." He looked up from his book. "Christmas is next month. Pennyworth instructed me to inform you that he needs a list of what you wish."
Zuko groaned. "I have no idea what I want."
"Well, figure it out," Damian replied. "Because if you do not, I'll have to listen to the complaining."
__
It was the night of his first patrol. Zuko turned to the mirror. His suit was a black kevlar lined jumpsuit with an obsidian utility belt and combat boots of the same color. There was a blue bat symbol across the chest, and a demon-type stage mask of the same color on his face. He looked at the blue gauntlet on his wrist and flexed his arm.
Dick whistled lowly. "Lookin' sharp, Zu."
Zuko grunted in response, but he couldn't stop the corners of his lips from twitching upwards.
"Good to see you suited up," Bruce said as he saw his son. He turned to the Bat Computer and typed something in. "Alright. Nightwing and Robin, you take the east side. Red Hood and Black Bat, you take the west. Red Robin, you take south. Blue Spirit and I will take north."
"You got it, boss man," said Jason with a mock salute. At that, the vigilantes headed out.
"Remember," Bruce began as he and Zuko got into the Batmobile. "Code names in the field." Zuko nodded.
"I won't forget, Batman."
"Good to hear, Blue Spirit."
After a few minutes if driving, Oracle spoke. "Croc is robbing a store on the corner of North and Order," she said. "Blue Spirit and Batman are closest."
"We're on it," Bruce said, and sped up.
They reached the corner in five minutes, and jumped out of the car. "Croc!" Bruce yelled.
A huge reptilian humanoid turned toward the voice, and smiled. "Batman!" he chirped. "And who's this?"
"Blue Spirit," Zuko said stiffly.
Killer Croc chuckled."New kid to destroy? I love that."
Croc rushed him, snapping his jaws viciously. Zuko jumped into the air, doing a flip over the creature. Fire blasted out of his elbow and he punched Croc in the snout as he turned.
Croc stumbled back. "Igniting your elbow to increase the force of your punch? Smart. Not smart enough." He ran towards Zuko again, claws outstretched, moving at inhuman speeds. Zuko ducked under his claws and gave an uppercut with the same advantage into his stomach. Croc was thrown into the air by the force. Before he could land, Zuko sent a blast of fire at him, engulfing him in flames. Croc screamed and fell to the ground, charred and smoking.
"He's still alive," Bruce said gruffly. "Not bad. I'll call Gordon." Zuko's chest swelled with pride, but he simply nodded.
"There's a robbery at the R&D center of Enterprises," Oracle said suddenly.
"Blue Spirit and I are going to check it out," Bruce answered.
"10-4," Dick replied. "Call if you need backup." Bruce grunted in response and, gesturing for Zuko to follow, jumped back into the Batmobile before speeding off.
"R&D?" Zuko echoed what Oracle had said earlier. "What's that?"
"It's the Research and Development Center," Bruce replied. "It's where we store Batman Inc. tech that's still in production."
"Oh."
“That's right. If anyone succeeds in getting their hands on what's in there-"
"-They'll get their hands on everything." Zuko bit the inside of his cheek. "It's fine. We can do this."
A hint of a smile ghosted across Bruce's lips, so small that Zuko wasn't sure if it'd even been there in the first place.
__
The Research and Development Center of Wayne Enterprises was primarily used to develop advancements in technology. These advancements ranged from more effective cancer treatments to new engines for vehicles. The blueprints listed the building as being eight stories. Unbeknownst to the majority of WE's employees, there was a basement. A basement hidden far below the actual building, so far below than an express elevator was needed. This basement was where the technology for Batman Inc. was developed.
Unlike the secret basement of Falcone's club, this basement was in pristine condition. It had a hospital feel to it, with white flooring, walls, and ceiling.
Bruce and Zuko had just grappled down the elevator shaft was landed at the end of one of the basement's hallways."The only alarm that's been triggered was the entry alarm," said Bruce. "The rooms where the... merchandise are kept have separate alarm systems. Can you tell me what this means, Blue Spirit?"
"The intruder either doesn't know what exactly is down here, or they just haven't managed to get into the rooms yet." Zuko frowned. "Wait, if they figured out this place was here then that means they definitely know what's down here. So then they haven't found the location of the 'merchandise.'"
"And you believe that to be the most probable scenario?"
"Well... yeah. I mean, unless they managed to bypass the alarm system. But that's impossible, this place is un-hackable ever since that incident with Ra's al Ghul. The security system is invincible. Right?"
"Rule of thumb, Blue Spirit," Bruce grunted, raising his arm closer to his face to he could activate his gauntlet. "Nothing is invincible. Everything has a weakness. Some are harder to find than others, but the only thing that is truly invincible is God Himself. And I don't think He would have any reason to break into Wayne Enterprises."
"Okay, but they tripped the alarm when they came in," Zuko pointed out. "So they must not have been able to hack the system."
"Unless they want us here."
Zuko sucked in his teeth. "So that's what you think? This is a trap?"
"It isn't a trap if we know about it," Bruce countered. "Here, I'm pulling up the motion sensors." Sure enough, the holographic screen coming from the gauntlet showed motion in room 121.
"Is that one of the rooms?" Zuko asked.
Bruce nodded."Yes." He and Zuko started to run in the direction of the before mentioned room. "There's very dangerous technology in there. We need to stop this intruder now." The two were sprinting, taking twists and turns through the winding hallways until Bruce stuck his arm out, signaling for Zuko to stop. In front of them was room 121, the door ajar.
"Holy crap," Zuko whispered. "They hacked us."
"They hacked us," Bruce echoed. "And now they're going to pay. Manuever 13. Be cautious." Bruce rolled a metal ball into the room, and it exploded into smoke Using the smoke as cover, Zuko and Bruce dashed into the room.
Using the heat signatures to see through the smoke, Zuko jumped forward, swinging down his broadswords in arc. His eyes widened as they hit air; the person had disappeared."What-" he broke off as someone landed a hit to his spine. Zuko whirled around, kicking out at his attacker, yet his foot hit air as the assailant dodged again.
"A teleporter?" he muttered. A laugh hit his ears, and the assailant landed another hit to the back of his head. Zuko tried to return the hit with one of his own but, of course, he missed. So far, Zuko noticed, they were teleporting closely around him. They were staying in close proximity with him. It would be hard to deduce where exactly they would strike, unless he limited their options.
Zuko stomped on the ground, and a ring of fire flared up around him. The attacker led out a gut wrenching scream as they were caught in the flames. He caught a glimpse of a person in a black suit clutching their arm before they teleported above his head, aiming a dropkick above him.
But Zuko had anticipated this. He grabbed their leg from above and slammed them on the ground. They landed with a crack and coughed.
"You just broke my spine, you asshole," the person wheezed. They were still now, and Zuko could see she was a girl with long brown hair in a wine-colored robe.
Zuko gulped, forcing down the rising panic at the girl's words. "Maybe you shouldn't have tried to break my skull."
The girl shrugged. "Just following orders."
"Who are you!?" Zuko snarled. "Tell me! Who are you and what do you want with this technology!?"
"Well, if you must know," the girl said, pain evident in her voice despite her calm tone. "I am but a servant of The Lady of the Dual Skies."
"The Lady of the Dual Skies?" Zuko echoed. "What does that mean?"
"Nothing's taken," Bruce said as he crossed his arms from where he stood behind Zuko. "Nothing has even been tampered with. You clearly weren't looking for anything here. So what did you want?"
"The Lady does not permit me speaking with anybody but you." The girl was speaking directly to Zuko, not sparing Bruce a glance. "She has something she wishes you to know."
Zuko narrowed his eyes behind his mask. "And what would that be?"
The girl grinned wickedly. "She says she'll see you soon."
With that, a portal opened up under the girl and she disappeared in a flash of purple light.

Young Just us college au
Rent a room, Dick said. It’ll be a nice experience. Don’t just buy a flat, that’s boring and lonely.
Tim had tried to tell his brother that maybe he prefered lonely to crazy, but Dick had insisted. And everyone knew just how difficult dealing with that could be, so he knew better than to resist.
At least, he had tried to comfort himself, he knew the people he’d be rooming with. They were all his friends, an odd assortment of assholes he’d picked up on school, summer camps, vacation trips, scientific events, even comic cons, and just… fell platonically in love with them.
Maybe, as Dick said, it would be fine.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
No, it wasn’t fine.
-Jay -he whispered into the phone, hoping he wouldn't be heard by the others on the other side of the door- Jay, they are crazy. I need extraction asap. We could fake my death and I can go to University somewhere else.
The older man laughed in the other end of the receiver, the sound of pages rustling indicating Tim had caught him during his daily grading paper sesion. That was the sound of crying students dying over carefully demolished arguments.
-They are all your friends, Timbo. If you fake your death, you’ll need to start over again and meet new people.
Tim hissed.
-Exactly, babybird. Also, this is day one of sharing a house, how bad can it possibly be?
-Jay, they left the kitchen lights on. It’s daytime! Why the hell do they need the lights on? Aren’t they aware of how big the bill is gonna be if they are like this?
-...Timmy, you… you are a billionaire. I think that should be the last of your concerns.
-That’s not the only thing. It’s so noisy, Jay. I choose the attic room hoping it’ll be nice and quiet. It’s not. I can hear everything. What do I do if some of them pair up? I’ll be stuck here listening to them having sex forever!
-...I don’t know where to begin.
-You can start by contacting B for me. He was right when he said it wasn’t a good idea for me to live with other people. But I can’t call him to help me out of this, because I think Dick blocked my number in his phone, and my emails don’t seem to be reaching him.
-He said it because you are the purest of his children, and he knew college was corruptive enough without adding dorm sharing to it; that was his version of helicopter parenting. But Timbo, it’s moving day. You’ve been there for less than five hours. And you already emailed B?
-The first thing Slobo did when he came in was to fart. In the middle of the living room. I can’t live with them, they are animals!
-They are your best friends, you’ve known them forever.
-But I never had to deal with them in a closed space for an unlimited amount of time!!! I’m trapped here.
-...
-...!
-...Are you hiding in a closet?
-...no. That would be stupid, in a three story house where I have my own/
-You are, ain’tcha?
-I am. Please help me?
Long sigh- I’ll meet you for coffee on the place near the Economics building so you have an excuse to be out for the evening while the others finish their moving. You’re done with your part, right?
-Yes! Thank you!
-You owe me.
-Next time Dick wants bonding time, I’ll sacrifice myself volunteering so you can run.
-And this is why you’re my favorite. Be there in ten.
-.-.-.-.-.-
-Tim? Tim! Here you are!
Blinking was a thing Tim suddenly remembered he needed to do, and he did it a few times as his eyes were dragged away from his book by a pair of hands on his cheeks.
-Kon? What are you doing in the library?
The other boy was panting slightly, flushed from what Tim guessed was a desperate run there.
-I was looking for you! You never came back after classes were done for the day, and you didn’t pick up your phone. We were very worried, dude.
-I was just studying, chill.
-It’s almost midnight.
No, it couldn’t be.
-No, it isn’t.  I haven’t been here that long.
Serious and slightly worried, Conner thrusted his own phone in Tim’s face and… uh. Look at that. It was nearly midnight.
-Oh. Got distracted with research, sorry.
-It’s been barely two weeks, how much can you possibly need to study?
Unprompted, Kon started to help him pack his books and papers. He seemed utterly amazed by the almost illegible graphs and charts.
-No, this isn’t homework. I’m working on a thing for WE…
The rest of the way home was spent with Tim talking Conner’s ear off about shit he had absolutely no idea about, but didn’t complain, just holding Tim’s backpack with one hand while steering his sleep deprived friend back home with the other.
-.-.-.-.-.
-Bart? -Tim yawned, getting into the kitchen and raising a confused eyebrow at his friend- It’s… three am. What are you doing awake?
-Stress baking -the smaller boy replied, never stopping stirring the bowl- You?
-Papers and presentations.
-Classes or WE?
-Bit of both. What are you making?
-Cupcakes. Want some?
-They’ll go great with coffee, thanks.
They spent the next half hour waiting for the oven to do its magic talking about video games, classes and evil teachers.
-Your brother is the worst. TA. Ever. He always grades my papers and he’s a bitch about them.
-He relishes in the pain. It’s what keeps him young. I swear he never grew  past fifteen.
-It’s scary, and honestly so annoying. Like, I get pointing out mistakes, but he doesn’t need to be a passive aggressive ass about it.
-I’ll let him know what you think.
-Please don’t. I’m afraid of him, and the power he holds in his hands. The power to make me fail Creative Writing.
-Why are you even taking that class? Actually, what even is your major?
A shrug, and before Bart could open his mouth to reply, the timer let them know the cupcakes where done.
-You can have one before bedtime, dude. The circles under your eyes look like make up at this point.
-You are one to talk, mister Stress Baking at Three in the Morning.
-But unlike you, I don’t have to be up at the ass of dawn. C’mon, have one of these and back up you go.
-Bite me.
-I’d rather bite this peanut butter miracle, but if you insist…
-No! Bart, get away from me!
-Then go to bed!
-Go to hell!
-I AM in hell! I have Jason Fucking Todd as my TA!
-IF YOU DON’T GO BACK TO BED RIGHT NOW, I’LL KICK YOU BOTH ALL THE WAY THERE! -Cassie’s voice echoed in the walls, and they both blanched at the reminder that her room was, in fact, in ground floor.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
A part of college Tim had never considered, let alone readied himself for, was the… party bit.
-What do you mean, of course you’re coming -laughed Anita, clutches firm on Tim’s sleeve as she dragged him into hers and Cassie’s room.
-No, I have to study for…
-You don’t have any midterm or final this week. I know, because I checked. No papers due either. This is literally the perfect time for you to party.
-I can’t, I…
-Suck at socializing? Yeah, cher, I’m aware. That’s why awesome me is taking you as my plus one for this party. No need to thank me, glad to be your social buffer whenever you need me.
Tim started to resist in earnest when they got into the room and he caught a glimpse of the clothing Anita had apparently chosen for him.
-There’s no way I’m fitting into those pants! Let me go!
-I’ve seen you squeezing your butt into the vent that one time when Kon threw the key to the coffee maker cabinet inside it. If you could get in there, these pants are a piece of cake.
-No!
-Don’t make me hurt you, Drake.
-Anita…!
-Ugh! -she stopped, dropping Tim on her bed and crossing her arms. She averted her eyes- My ex is gonna be at the party. I might have been exaggerating a bit when I said I was over him, but I already promised my friends I was gonna be there. I… could really use your help here. I know it’s not your scene, but Kon and Bart have midterms, Slobo would straight up punch my ex with his astounding lack of subtlety, Miguel is away dealing with family stuff, and the girls are awesome but not really what I need right now.
A pause.
-Okay, but I’m absolutely not putting on that crop top. And we better not end up wasted, I have a reputation to uphold.
Spoiler alert: he did put on the crop top. And they had to call Conner to walk them home after the third time Tim walked into a lamp post and Anita fell into the campus’ pond.
-.-.-.-.-
They were walking back home late on a Friday when they were approached by a group of stupid, drunk dudebros. Tim was already dreading the moments to come before they even spoke, just by the way they kept eyeing Cassie’s legs and Anita’s rack. Cissie herself was wearing loose pants and a sweater, so she was safe from their disgusting examination. Not that it kept her from crossing her arms and looking down at the assholes.
-Heyyyyy, ladies. Wanna go clubbing with us?
Tim shrugged- He’s talking to you, girls. I’m out. Have fun.
Cassie caught him by his hoodie before he could take a single step. He heard her warning clear as day and sighed, defeated.
-Yess, you can go -slurred Dudebro number two, waving him away- There’ three of us, and three of those pretty things. You can get lost.
-See, Cass? Hear the gentlemen. You don’t need me here.
Anita kicked him in the shin.
-No. We just got our nails done. You either solve this peacefully, or take care of it if it turns dirty. Why do you even walk us home if not to protect us from creepers like these?
A loud ‘hey’ came from the dudebros, but Tim ignored them. Silently, he pointed at Cassie’s legs (he had seen her crushing a watermelon between them once), Cissie’s arms (a thing of beauty that made multiple lesbians all around campus cry) and Anita’s katana (that she wasn’t supposed to keep on her person around other students, but who was gonna enforce any rules on the girl with the giant knife?).
-Excuse me? You three should be protecting me. I’m a rich, sheltered boy.
Apparently done being ignored, the three idiots decided this was a good time to throw the first punch. Which Tim dodged, without breaking eye contact with Cassie. She raised her eyebrow, not moving an inch. Cissie was examining her nails. Anita’s eyes promised hell.
He sighed, turned around, caught the second coming punch, and used the hand under his palm to force the dudebro to his knees. A knee to the face and then he turned to the other two.
Next time, Slobo was walking with them.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Flip side:  the attic room had its own bathroom. Significantly smaller than the ones on the other two floors, but hey, no sharing.
The downside: apparently, the bathroom vents all connected with one another, and because of their aligning schedules, he often took showers at the same time Miguel did.
Flip side: Miguel had the singing voice of an angel, and the acoustic was fantastic. Showers were rarely boring now.
Downside again: Tim often forgot himself and sang along, but his voice… wasn’t as pretty.
Flip side again: at least, judging by Miguel’s smile, he found it adorable rather than pathetic.
Downside number three: Greta and Cissie’s room, by some unsolved mystery, also had connecting vents to the bathroom, and the archer girl was… less charitable about Tim’s inability to sing.
Flip side: Greta liked him better than most of their house mates, and she had more than enough dirt on Cissie to keep her from sharing the secret of Tim’s awful voice.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
-Hey, baby bird. Sorry I’m calling just now, it’s been a while.
-Hey Jay. Don’t worry, you’re busy grading papers.
-How do you know?
-Bart was crying in the tub this morning. Completely clothed and eating nachos with whipped cream, I might add.
-What is that boy even studying? I know he has Chem classes, Roy is his TA, and Kory saw him in the designer’s building.
-That is an unsolved mystery for the ages.
-Hey, speaking of your housemates, how’s it going?
Tim stopped on his way out of the kitchen, eyes growing fond as he examined the group on the living room. They were fighting over that night’s movie choice. He didn’t know why they tried, Greta was gonna win. Nobody could resist her and Miguel’s puppy eyes.
-It’s… it’s been great, actually.
-Uh huh.
-But don’t tell Dick. He’ll be unbearably smug.
-Of course I won’t. You still have that time I crashed B’s favorite car on me.
-Oh, Oh fuck! -came Slobo’s voice- TIM, BRING THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER!
A loud crash. Tim winced, eyes leaving his friend in favor of the wall. If he didn’t see it, it wasn’t happening.
-TIM, BUD, WE NEED SOME HELP HERE!
-...what was that, Timbo?
-Nothing.
-TIM, TIM, THE TV IS ON FIRE!!! COME QUICKLY BEFORE IT REACHES THE XBOX OR SO HELP ME GOD I’M MURDERING EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM!
-...Tim?
-Don’t tell B.
-Gotcha. Going to save their lives?
-More like hiding in my room until they sort themselves out or die. Good luck on those papers.
-Good luck on surviving.

Are you still taking prompts? How about a Jondami and Robin!Reversal AU, where Damian's little Bros give Jon a shovel talk.
(Okay so I've gotten a lot of shovel talk requests, but this one immediately called to me. Thank you for sending it in!
Jon - 23, Damian - 20, Tim - 17, Jason - 14, Dick - 12 )
Jon hummed to himself as he flew over the greater part of Delaware and New Jersey. He hummed a little louder as he created a small sonic boom. He barely blinked as miles of fields and cities blurred beneath him.
He had one destination in mind tonight, and he intended to get there on time.
When he reached Gotham, it was nearing sunset. He didn't even hesitate to enter the city, despite the ban on metas, and weaved through the tall building seamlessly, flying across town and to Wayne Manor. The grounds security systems didn't even bother to activate, thanks to the device Damian had given him, a small beacon pin that told both the metahuman tracker and the manor security systems to ignore him. He had two of them, one was pinned to his uniform, the other lived on his keys so he wouldn't loose it.
He landed in front of the door and rang the doorbell, leaning against the wall as he waited, knowing it'd be a few minutes. Three minutes later, he heard footsteps, then the lock disengaging. And then the door swung open. It was opened by a child who barely reached Jon's chest.
"Dick! Hey there!"
"Hi Jon!" Dick said with a wide grin.
The twelve year old was wearing what appeared to be a school uniform, and had a water bottle in one hand, his messy black hair falling all over the place.
"Is Damian here?"
"He's downstairs with B."
"Oh. That explains why I couldn't hear him."
"Yup! Come in, they should be up here soon for dinner though!"
Dick let him inside and Jon glancing around, casting out with his hearing to note Alfred in the kitchen, and Tim and Jason in the living room. Dick started heading that way.
"Come on!" He said cheerfully, walking like everything was fine and dandy.
Jon followed him, despite the sudden gut feeling that he should go hang out with Alfred. They walked into the living room and instantly he wanted to turn around and walk to the kitchen. Tim and Jason were sat in two armchairs, the sofa on the other side of the coffee table.
"Have a seat, Jonathan," Tim said, motioning.
Jon sighed, looking down at Dick.
"I can't believe you set me up."
"Get used to it!" The kid ran away and jumped up to sit on Jason's arm rest.
Jon just sighed again and walked over, sitting on the empty sofa.
"We need to have a talk," Jason told him.
"About this." Tim set a phone on the coffee table. It was solid black, no personalization on the case, but Jon recognized it instantly.
"Uh. That's your brothers phone."
"Clearly."
"I didn't just lift a random phone off him, Jon, we know it's his," Jason said with an eyeroll.
"Okay, why do you have his phone?" Jon asked, warily.
"So we could hack it."
"Wait a minute-"
"Who gave you permission to date our brother?" Dick asked, crossing his arms and glaring at Jon.
"Can we just talk about the fact that you hacked his phone?"
"Okay, technically we didn't hack it. We made Dick ask to play games on it."
"What did they offer you, Dick?"
None of them answered. Jon narrowed his eyes.
"You're getting off topic," Jason said, redirecting the conversation. "We want to know why you're dating Damian."
"Does Bruce know?"
"We haven't told him."
"Okay. I'm dating him because I really really like him," Jon said, willing to cave to the brothers, considering how long they'd actually been dating without the families knowledge.
"How long?" Dick asked, surprisingly menacing for a tiny twelve year old.
"A year."
"A what?!" Jason exclaimed, eyes wide.
Jon shrugged.
"Why you- I oughta!"
Tim held out a hand to stop Jason.
"Not yet. We still have some things to discuss. When did Damian give you access to Gotham?"
"Uh, like, five years ago, Tim. It's been eons."
"When were you going to tell us?"
"When Damian decided to. It wasn't up to me."
"And if it was, would you have told us?"
"Not if Damian didn't want me to."
"And why wouldn't he have wanted us to know?" Tim asked, eyebrow arching.
"Well maybe because he knew you'd attempt some elaborate shovel talk like this!"
The three brothers exchanged glances.
"So you recognize that if you hurt him we will kill you?" Jason asked.
"If I hurt him, I know very well that He'll hurt me, let alone you guys. He knows how, he has kryptonite."
"And what exactly does he do with that Kryptonite?" Jason asked, tilting his head.
The look he was giving Jon sent chills down his back.
"Oh, my God! You're fourteen, you should NOT be thinking about that!"
"For the record? I read your texts, I know very well what he does with it," Tim inputted, wincing. "And I want to burn my eyes."
"Are you- are you kidding me?! That's it."
Jon stood, reaching out and snatching Damian's phone before anyone else could.
"I've had enough of this. Not only have you illegally accessed his phone, you have breached both his and I's privacy by reading our text conversations. That is unacceptable and you can be damn well sure I'm telling him about this. Tim, I'm disappointed in you, acting like this. You should know better."
Jon turned to march out, feeling anger boiling in his body.
"If you tell him, then I'll have no choice but to tell Bruce, and you know he'll immediately disable your beacons."
Jon froze, turning back to Tim, who had also stood, smirking wickedly.
"Not only that, but we might just leak that pretty background of his."
Oh no. The background was a photo of them at the pool last year, they were both shirtless, and Damian was sat in Jon's lap. They were kissing. The lock screen was totally different, however, to avoid suspicion.
"Okay, now you're blackmailing me? Geesh Tim, you're more of a sadistic shit then Kon said."
"He has no idea the lengths I'll go to in order to protect my big brother."
Jon sighed, rubbing his face.
"Okay. Fine. I won't tell Damian what we talked about or that you got in his phone. As long as you promise not to do it again and promise not to tell Bruce."
The three brothers exchanged glances.
"No manipulating. Either you agree or you don't."
"That won't be a problem," Tim said with a sweet smile.
His heart ticked up a bit.
"Are you really trying to bullshit me? Tim I'm literally a human lie detector."
"You think I'm lying to you?"
"I'm dating your brother, I can tell when one of you bats is lying, I had to learn. So I don't think you're lying. I know you are."
Tim scowled. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You know what, fine. I'm telling him. And I can bet he won't be very impressed."
"Tell who what?"
The brothers eyes all went wide as their gaze snapped to the doorway behind Jon. Jon recognized that voice immediately. Of course he did, he had been hearing that voice for ten years, and knew exactly what it'd sound like when begging.
"Damian."
He turned around, smiling brightly at his boyfriend.
"Hello, Jonathan... Why do you have my phone?"
"Oh, your brothers broke into it, read our texts, tried to give me a shovel talk and are now blackmailing me."
Damian hummed. "Blackmailing you with what?"
"Telling Bruce, leaking photos of us, and deactivating my access to Gotham."
Another hum, and he nodded for a second. The eldest child turned his gaze to his younger siblings.
"Well, I'll have you know, your first threat is useless. Father already knows. Secondly, that is a breach of privacy, as is reading our texts, and should you do so, the repercussions will not be enjoyable. Additionally, not even you, Drake, can take away his access," Damian said smoothly, snatching his phone from Jon's hand. "Thank you for telling me, beloved. And I apologize for their behavior."
Jon smiled at him. "It's okay, not your fault."
"Ugh! Damian why can't you let us have our fun?!" Jason protested, glaring at his older brother.
"Because you have nothing to worry about. Jon is a good man, and a good boyfriend. But. If giving him a shovel talk is all you really need to accept our relationship, then go ahead. You have-" he looked at his watch. "Five minutes until dinner."
"Wait, what?!" Jon asked, turning to Damian again.
"You'll be fine, beloved. I'll see you at dinner!"
Damian walked over, kissed him quickly, much to the dismay of his sibling, and then walked away.
"Damian!"
"You're a invincible alien, Kent, you'll be fine."
And so his boyfriend abandoned Jon with his three younger siblings, who all grinned at Jon like he was a fish among sharks.
"Oh no."

Daminette AU (Part 8)
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng." She laughed. "Pleased to finally see you coherent."
A deep flush rose up his neck and she giggled. "Thank you for that by the way but advice for the future, it's not prudent to just help out strangers like that in Gotham. It could be a trap."
"Well thank you for the concern. I know it may not seem this way but I can take care of myself."
He seemed like he wanted to argue but thought better of it. Instead, he changed the subject. "Oh, you said you were already to heading to Wayne Tower weren't you? Can I ask what business you have there?"
She smirked. "Well I would tell you but someone just recently told me to be wary of strangers in Gotham."
He laughed. "Okay you got me there."
She giggled. "Well, I'm here on a school trip, we're visiting Wayne Enterprises today."
She barely noticed his eyes widening before he asked another question. "Where is the rest of your class then?"
She snorted. "Believe it or not, they left me behind."
"In Gotham!?" He said outraged.
"I know right." She agreed. "If it was someone else, they would probably have been terrified, lost, in trouble or all three."
He looked thoughtful. "You said if it was someone else and yet I have a feeling you're not just being cocky. "
She raised an eyebrow. "Caught that, didn't you? Well, not many people know this but I'm actually a Gothamite, CPS is what got me to Paris." She winced, changing her accent to her American one. "Couldn't escape them."
He seemed excited by this revelation. "That certainly explains why you seem so at ease here, only a native can be. Well, on behalf of all of Gotham, welcome back."
"There is no other place like Gotham." She laughed. "This will always be home."
He laughed with her for a bit before resuming his interrogation.
"How did you get left behind anyways?"
Her smile turned wry. "I know it seems pretty unbelievable, but there's this girl, who's got the whole class along with the staff wrapped around her little finger, which would be fine if she wasn't a liar. I'm literally one of the only persons who can figure out she's lying which is ridiculous because her lies aren't even good ones. I tried to call her out on it and ended up becoming her favourite target. Anyways, she somehow convinced the class to leave an hour earlier than the time we were supposed to. My only friend in that class is jetlagged and probably as tired as you are right now-" she raised the second coffee in her hand for emphasis. "Which is why she didn't notice and warn me until it was too late. I prepared everything for the trip as class president so I know all the details and well I decided why not take the opportunity to take a stroll in my favourite city?"
"Wow." He said and she was happy to note that seemed genuinely to believe her. "Sounds rough."
"Oh, you have no idea."
Tim pushed the door open for her and she smiled, realising that they were finally at Wayne Tower.
The building was as if not more impressive than she remembered and she fought the urge to take out the sketchbook and start drawing.
"Well I guess, this is where our ways part Tim, it was nice meeting you. Please get some sleep."
He laughed. "Are you so impatient to get rid of me? Just, wait here for a second, I need to have a word with Theresa-" He motioned to the secretary. "-and then I'll escort you to your class, it's the least I can do after youvey helped me."
"Oh, that's not necessary."
"I insist." He gave her disarming smile and walked away before she could protest.
She sighed and looked around, leaning against the wall. Her hands itched and she finally gave in, taking out her sketchbook from her bag and letting the inspiration guide her.
She became so absorbed in her work, she didn't notice when Tim made his way back to her. Only once she was done and went to keep her sketchbook back, did she notice the man waiting for her.
"Oh I'm so sorry, this place is so beautiful, I just needed to get this down. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."
He smiled down fondly at her. "It's alright. My little brother is an artist too, I'm used to it. Plus, you didn't take long. I'm a bit surprised actually."
She smiled shyly. "It's just a draft design, I jotted down the things I wanted to go into detail for later."
"You're into design?" He asked while he held another door open for her.
"I'm a fashion designer actually."
"Oooh, well I'm not that interested in those things but I've been trying to get an MDC special since a while. I love their work." Marinette flushed a deep red and hoped Tim wouldn't notice it. Fortunately, he didn't, continuing to babble about what aspect of her work he loved.
Maybe she'd get him VIP tickets to her show. That would be a nice surprise…
"Hey, listen Marinette." Tim stopped in his tracks. "There's something you need to know before we reach your class."
"What is it?" His voice made her wary.
"I'm ah kind of your tour guide."
"Oh." She said, and Tim gave her a moment to absorb that information. "Oh."
He grinned sheepishly when she turned a glare at him. "Surprise!" He did the jazz hands hands and Marinette could help the snort that escaped her.
"So you're not mad?" He asked.
"No, but I'm guessing you figured it when I mentioned we were the school from Paris, huh? Well you could've told me before I started ranting to you but eh I guess it's good that you're warned."
She looked at him solemnly and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Good luck, may the Gods be with you."
They stared at each other for a while before they both burst out in a fit of giggles.
"Okay, so anything else I need to know."
She hummed. "Well Mrs Bustier is not the best teacher, she has too much of a passive attitude and tends to support the offender rather than the victim. Other than that I guess, the only people that'll cause you problems is Miss Lie-La Rossi. I'm willing to bet she says something about knowing one of the Waynes within her first five sentences to you."
"I'll take that bet." He placed a hand on her back and gently pushed her forward.
"If I win, you gotta come to dinner at mine, I feel like we can be great friends and I feel like all my siblings will love you!"
She raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, but if I win, I'll give you an address and a date you need to show up at without question."
"Seems fair to me."
She laughed. "What happened to trusting strangers?"
"I think we blew that phase when you gave me the coffee."
She was about to retort when she heard a very shrill and very familiar voice.
"I can't believe Marinette has gone to such extents just to get attention. Doesn't she know how dangerous Gotham is?"
She muttered a quick prayer for the Gods to give her strength and caught Tim's face of complete disbelief as the rest started cussing at her.
"I'm guessing that's Lila." He said.
Marinette offered him no answer, just a grimace as she walked in the room.
***Italics is for french
"Thank you for your concern." She drawled out. "But I do believe it isn't my fault that you changed the schedule and did not inform me and before you start accusing me of lying, let me remind you that I was the one responsible to plan all of the activities on this trip and as such I have a copy of all the times and places we need to be at."
She ignored the seething crowd and passed Chloe her coffee before turning to Mrs Bustier. "And you, Madame? While I can understand the... excitement of the others to visit such a prestigious industry, as teacher it is your job to ensure that all of your students are there - not to mention the inconvenience you undoubtedly have caused the staff here due to your early arrival."
Her teacher flushed. "Now Marinette, I know that you are more than capable of taking care of yourself and the staff didn't seem to have a problem so please refrain from ruining this day for everyone."
She heard Tim mutter his disbelief, she guessed that he spoke French which is also why he was their tour guide. No one had noticed him yet but she decided not to stretch this out.
"They are professionals Madame."
Before things could escalate, she stepped to the side and gestured to Tim.
"This is Tim Drake, our tour guide."
"Bonjour," He smiled even though to her it seemed strained. "Welcome to Wayne Enterprises. We are honoured to have you with us. The portfolio your class president sent to us was impressive. It's nice to know that the youth of today is interested in helping the world around them and during this trip, well Wayne Enterprises aims to help you in your future career."
It was very obviously a practiced speech to Marinette and Tim didn't seem eager to repeat it but the rest of the class ate it up.
He caught her eye and they shared a look of understanding as the others started babbling excitedly.
"Please, I will ask you to remain quiet as we tour so as not to disturb the other employees."
Everyone fell in line and obediently stayed quiet. That lasted for about twenty minutes which was fifteen more than Marinette had expected before Lila started spewing her stories again.
Tim had just finished telling them about the work they did at WE and what they were going to visit. He mentioned that certain labs were off limits to them. That's when Lila started saying that she of course had visited these labs before because the Waynes trusted her.
She could see Tim doing a good job to keep his fury contained. The Waynes were obviously very loved if that's the kind of reaction an employee got after hearing lies about them.
He seeked her eyes as if to ask whether this was all for real and she offered him a small encouraging smile in return.
Tim turned to Miss Liar and her entourage and cleared his throat. "Miss Rossi, I presume, as... entertaining as your fictional stories might be, please refrain from speaking about them here. Also, I do remember telling you not to speak up like you are right now so as not to disturb the other employees."
"She looks like she's going to blow." Chloe snickered and Marinette had to agree, Lila was getting redder.
"How dare you?" She screeched and Marinette had a really good feeling that today was the day Lila was going to start her fall from grace. "My stories aren't fictional. You're probably just a lowly intern but I know all the Waynes personally. I can get you fired!"
"Oh?" Tim's face went blank. "Who do you know in the family?"
"Oh, I know all of them - Dick Drake, Jason Grayson, Tim Todd and Damien Wayne." She felt a surge of anger go through her at the last name but closed her eyes and tried to calm herself. Fortunately, she had more than enough practice to control her emotions and opened her eyes just in time to catch the derisive snort from Tim.
At that moment, she remembered why exactly he seemed familiar to her and let herself smirk. Chloe nudged her. "You know something." She said knowingly and she only smiled innocently in return.
She raised an eyebrow in disbelief but turned to watch the drama unfold.
Tim opened his mouth to speak but someone called out to him. "Mr Wayne!" Marinette turned her head to watch a harried woman come their way. "I'm so sorry for interrupting you through this tour, I know you wanted to deal with this class yourself but something came up with the deal with the Luthors, we need you there asap!"
"Alright, I'll be there in five minutes. I know Jason is here, get him to come take over for me, tell him that I'll owe him one - that ought to convince him."
He turned his attention back to Lila, eyes sharp and in that moment, she couldn't recognize the same sleep deprived man she had helped that morning.
"And you, Miss Rossi, if you haven't guessed it yet - I am Tim Drake-Wayne, the CEO of this company and I can guarantee all of you that neither I nor my brothers have ever met you."
"How do you know that your brothers have not met her?" Ever so stubborn, was Alya.
"Because, Miss Cesaire, my brothers names are Dick Grayson and Jason Todd and before you ask, I know all of my youngest brother's friends and she is not part of them. I'm afraid to tell you that she has been lying to you."
Alya looked pissed right then and Marinette couldn't help but feel a bit vindicated.
"So Miss Rossi, please do continue spreading your lies about us and next time, you'll be contacted by our lawyer."
"Now, now." Miss Bustier intervened and Marinette wasn't even surprised that it was now that she decided to intervene.
"Isn't a lawyer too much? She only said a few lies."
"Her lies can be considered defamation. Those labs she said she had access to are for dangerous or top secret experiments. The fact that we just let a teenage girl in there can damage the reputation of our company and raise question on our policies, so no it isn't too much. We can and will sue her if she lies again and for you Mlle Bustier, I am not impressed with your behavior with your class, I will be pushing for an investigation against you."
Marinette could frankly say that the she found some pleasure in seeing her teacher floundering. She pitied her a bit, but it's what she got for siding with the opressor every time.
And then Tim turned to her, harsh expression fading away to give place to a genuine smile as he walked towards her.
"As for you, I can't thank you enough for this morning."
"It was nothing." Marinette waved it off  but then, she smiled teasingly, piecing together what he was doing. "Well if I knew you were a Wayne, I'd have made you pay for the coffee."
Tim laughed, taking it for the joke it was. "Can you give me your phone?"
She raised an eyebrow but handed it over silently; when he returned it, she had a new contact under Sleep Deprived.
"You won our bet." He said as an explanation. "But please, if you have any trouble in Gotham, feel free to call me."

The Trade 10
Synopsis:  Liam is running for Cordonia’s presidency. To assure his victory, Constantine makes an arraignment behind his back for him to marry the rich ambassador’s daughter: Alexis O’Brien. Due to her father’s threats, she has no other option that seduce Liam and make him fall in love with her. But what happens when she falls for his best friend? (AU)
Pairings: DrakexMC
Warnings: I love drama and chaos so this will probably get a bit dark. In this chapter there is mention of rape, if you get triggered by this issue, don’t hesitate to send me a message and I’ll be glad to explain what happens without reading it. A lot of angst and heartbreak
Please note that this is my first series and English is not my first language. I really love ALL kinds of feedback.  Don’t hesitate to comment!
Disclaimer: Some of the dialogues and settings as well as most of the characters belong to Pixelberry (except for Alexis O’Brien and her evil father George O’Brien JR).

After confronting her father, Alexis felt exhausted. Years of fighting him had taken a toll on her. The loss of the only man she had ever loved was the last straw in a series of tragedies that her own father had provoked, and she felt like she didn’t have the strength to fight him anymore
The worst part was to think about Drake, about his pain, the disappointment in his voice, the hateful look on his eyes. Alexis had done everything she could so he would hate her, but now that it was done, she didn’t know how she was going to actually live with it. She hated herself much more than he would never do.
Alexis heard the knocks at her door, and tried to ignore them; too tired and too sad to answer, but the tapping persisted. Finally, she went to open it, decided to chase away whoever it was.
“Max.” She sighed. “I can’t talk to anyone right now, I’m sorry.” She made an attempt to close the door, but Maxwell put his foot between it and the frame. His heart tugged seeing how destroyed she seemed, how swollen and red her eyes were.
“I’m sorry Blossom, but I really don’t think you should be alone right now. Plus, I brought my three best friends.” He grinned showing her a whiskey bottle and a plastic bag with two pints of ice cream. “Jack, Ben, and Jerry.” She smiled through her tears. “Please, Lexie, we can talk or get wasted or eat ice cream or all three, I can show you my own version of a Coke float.” He winked.
She let him in. “I really need a drink right now.”
They sat on the balcony eating ice cream and drinking silently for a while, each of them thinking about their broken heart.
“I really loved him, you know?” Max broke the silence. “I’ve had intense relationships before, but Rashad was the first one I truly loved. The worst part is that I’m pretty sure, he loved me too. And he’s ready to let all those feelings go to waste for some stupid political ambitions.” He put his hand on her shoulder. “Don’t do the same Blossom, don’t let your desire of being the First Lady stop you from loving Drake. I’ve known him since we were kids and I’ve never seen him more desperate or broken than today. He really cares for you.”
Alexis turned her head to him, anger stirring through her entire body. “My desire of being First Lady?” She laughed bitterly. “Please, Maxwell! You have no idea what you’re talking about.” She gulped her whiskey, refilled her glass, and gulped its content again.
“You’re right Lexie, I have absolutely no idea what’s going on.” He took her hand. “And for the little I heard, neither does Drake. Perhaps if you actually talked to one of us, we could understand you better.”
Maybe it was all the alcohol she had ingested but suddenly she found herself opening up to him. “I did a horrible thing in my youth, something Drake would never be able to forgive me for.” She sighed sadly. “Because of that mistake I have to protect someone and my father is taking advantage of it. If I don’t do what he says, the person I care about the most in the world will get hurt.” She gulped yet another glass and quickly refilled it again.
Max couldn’t believe his ears “Wait a minute Blossom.” He lifted his hands. “Are you being this cryptic on purpose? I don’t understand anything. What do you mean your father is taking advantage of it? I mean he’s your father, Lexie. And I can assure you there’s not much Drake wouldn’t forgive you”
“Well, this is one of those few things, Max. He hates me now, but even if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be able to forgive this. And yes, George is my father. He’s also the most despicable man on earth. And I assure you, his threats are not empty. He wants control of Cordonia’s commerce, and nothing will stop him until he gets what he wants.”
Maxwell was starting to understand. “So he wants you to marry Liam, the next president, to help him.”
She nodded without adding anything else.
Max stood up. “I understand better why you insisted that you liked Liam when it was so obvious you were falling for Drake, and why you left him like that.” He turned around to see her crying. “Oh Blossom, you should talk to them, I promise they would try to help you, both of them.”
She looked at him terrified “No, Max! Promise you won’t tell them anything. Either of them. Please, you don’t know how much there’s on stake here. If something happens to my- ... I can’t even consider it.”
Maxwell sighed, visibly uncomfortable “Ok, Lexie. I won’t. I think it’s a horrible idea, but I won’t say anything.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drake woke up feeling like crap. After getting wasted at the bar, one equally drunk Leo had taken him to his cabin, where he had slept uneasily, seeing her face every time he closed his eyes.
When he had set the meeting with Liam, Drake had planned to be honest with his best friend and tell him that he had fallen for Alexis too.  It was the first time in his life that Drake felt that kind of wild passion; of deep connection with someone, so he was determined to fight for her. But now, all the consequences of his carelessness were about to crush him. Drake had to face the fact that the sweet, passionate woman he had seen in her, simply didn’t exist. The fact that he had betrayed his best friend for someone who didn’t love him back. The fact that deep down he had always known that she was too good for someone like him, someone his own mother had abandoned. Alexis had been born to shine in Liam’s arm, to be his wife and rule beside him.
When he finally arrived at the Beaumont’s estate, Drake had made up his mind; the best thing was to let her go. Let her be happy with Liam and try to move on, even if he had no idea how he was going to be able to do that.
At Ramsford, he went directly to the brothers’ study, where he knew Liam would be working already, and entered it without knocking.
Drake immediately saw in Liam’s demeanor that that morning he wouldn’t be facing his best friend, the brother he had grown up with but the politician, the future president of the country. He wasn’t intimidated.
“Sit, Drake, please.” Liam was comfortably seated with his elbows resting on the desk, the tips of his fingers touching. “Could you tell me where have you been these past two days? Where did you take Alexis?”
Drake looked straight at him, he wasn’t going to lie. “To my cabin near Portavira.”
Liam looked back at him coldly. “Could I ask why?”
“She had a panic attack two nights ago and needed to go away, so I took her to the only place I could think of,” Drake replied calmly, staring back at his friend.
“Was Max with you?” Liam was getting angrier at the second, the tension between the two almost brothers growing.
Drake growled. “Fuck Liam! Is this an interrogatory?” Liam seemed imperturbable, so Drake answered the question. “No, he wasn’t.”
Liam's posture remained calm, without showing all the rage he was feeling. Before asking the next question, he hesitated, unsure if he wanted to know the answer. “Did something happen between you? Did you two…” Liam swallowed, unable to complete the sentence.
Drake had never felt so guilty and stupid at the same time. “Listen, Liam, the only thing that should matter now is that she cares for you.”
-He is not denying it- Liam thought furious.
Drake felt a, now familiar, pang in his chest. “Alexis told me she cares for you before she left with Max.” He stood up to pour himself a drink from the minibar and gulped it down.
Liam remained seated looking at the man that had been his best friend for over twenty years. He felt betrayed by him, but seeing how rattled Drake seemed, a hideous thought started creeping his mind.
“Drake,” he stood up to pour himself a scotch too, “are you in love with Alexis?”
Drake arched his brows, mockingly. “You know me better than that Li, I don’t do love. I don’t absolutely feel anything for her, but she does for you, end of the story.”
Liam thought about what he was about to say. “Alexis and I are not really together yet. However, I’m planning to talk to her today. If she accepts to be with me, I don’t want you near her.”
Drake sighed. “Li-“
Liam raised his hand interrupting him. “I don’t think you’re understanding me, Drake. I won’t care about our friendship the same way you didn’t care about it these past two days. If I see you near her, I will end you.”
Drake shook his head and spoke with a deep voice, anger in his tone.  “No, Liam, is you who doesn’t get it. I don’t care about her at all. Do whatever you fucking want.”
“It’s settled then. If she wants to, she belongs with me.” He patted Drake’s back and sat again. “Let’s forget about this and keep working on the campaign”
Drake nodded, he was going to need another whiskey.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alexis woke up next to Maxwell, both of them had passed out together on the balcony after the third bottle.
She looked at the time on her phone.
“Shit! I have to meet Li in thirty minutes for lunch.” She saw Maxwell looking intently at the estate’s parking. “What is it Max?”
“I don’t want to worry you Blossom, but Drake’s jeep is here.” The mere mention of his name made Alexis’s heart skip a beat but she tried to hide it.
“Well, he’s Liam’s future Chief of Staff, I imagine they have a lot of work to do. I’m sorry to chase you Max but I have to take a quick shower and prepare myself to my-” She took a deep breath, “date with Liam.”
Maxwell took her by the shoulders, “I remember what you told me last night Lexie, and I still think you should talk to both of them, or at least with Drake.”
She shook her head. “That’s never going to happen. Now if you don’t mind, I really need to take a shower.”
Thirty minutes later, Alexis was ready to go have lunch. She felt a hole in her stomach thinking that she had to feign interest in Liam, hurting him make her feel sick. At 1 p.m. sharp, the young candidate knocked at her door.
“Hi, Liam! What are you hiding there?”
He grinned giving her a beautiful bouquet of pink roses.
“Thank you, it’s beautiful.” She gave him a small smile and put the roses on a vase next to her bed.
“Are you ready, Alexis?”
“I am, where are you taking me?”
He smiled fondly at her. “I prepared a little something here with Bertrand’s help.” He offered her his arm, she sighed deeply to calm her nerves and took it.
They walked around the gardens until they finally reached a little gazebo. Bertrand and his staff had prepared a beautiful table with colorful orchids, elegant porcelain china, and crystal champagne glasses.
“Wow, this is beautiful!” Alexis felt relieved that they were hidden in the center of the gardens where they didn’t risk running into him.
“It’s all for you Alexis, you deserve the most gorgeous things in the world.” He pulled a chair so she could sit and made a gesture to call the waiter behind her.
After pouring them a couple of mimosas the waiter went looking for the appetizers giving them some minutes alone.
Alexis was feeling uneasy, so she drank her glass in almost one gulp.
“Are you alright Alexis?” He touched her hand across the table and stroked it softly.
His touch wasn’t electric as Drake’s but comforting, almost soothing, something she desperately needed.
“I’m fine Li, thank you.” Alexis gave her a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. She was going to have to improve her acting skills.
“I hope you like this, there’s not a lot of good restaurants around the Beaumont’s state.”
“I think all this is lovely Li, I really do.”
The waiter came back with the appetizers and placed them in front of them.
“It smells great.” Alexis felt sick with pretending, but she forced herself to eat something.
Liam raised his glass. “What shall we toast to?”
She raised her glass as well. “To this date?”
“Perfect, for it to go great.” They clinked their glasses.
Alexis took a small bite of the salmon’s mousse in front of her. “It’s delicious”
“I’m glad you like it, you said that you liked everything, so I chose this  It’s one of my favorites”
He reached to take her hand between his again. “I would really like to get to know you better Alexis. Really know you.”
She sighed thinking about the conversations she had had with Drake just 24 hours ago. About all the things they had shared, all the confidences and secrets. Feeling her eyes watering, she took a sip from her drink. “I’m here, Li. Ask anything you want.”
He looked straight at her eyes. “Why did you leave the party at Lythikos two days ago?”
She shook her head, unwilling to share her secret with him. “I had a difficult moment with my father, our relationship is … complicated.”
“And for that, you needed to leave two days?” Liam asked, arching his brows.
“Yes,” Alexis stated simply.
He rubbed her face with his hand. “If there’s something I can help you with, just tell me Alexis, and I will.”
“Thank you, Liam. Everything is fine.” She smiled. “This is excellent too.” Avid to change the subject, she pointed at the main course the waiter had just brought them.
“Ah! Carbonara pasta, it was my mother’s favorites. She used to cook it all the time, so it became my favorite as well.”
She reached to stroke his arm across the table. “How old were you when she…?”
“Nine, it was very hard. After her death, my father married Regina, and she is not the warmest woman in the world.”
Her heart tugged at his sadness. “I’m sorry, Li. You must have a lot of good memories of her.”
“I do. She loved to sing and play the guitar. She used to take me, Leo and Drake to these picnics and played with us. She was a great mother, I’m sad you could not meet her, she would have loved you”
-No, she would have hated me- “I’m sure I would have loved her as well”.
They spent the next hour talking about happy memories of their childhoods. Alexis was happy to hear all about Liam’s and Drake’s pranks when they were little boys. Finally, they finished their dessert.
Liam looked tenderly at her for a long moment before he spoke. “Alexis, I know we haven’t known each other for long, but I want you to know that I am serious about this, about us. I’m a man who knows what he wants, and I want you. Desperately. You are the most beautiful, charming, fascinating woman, I have ever met and I want you in my life.”
This was it. Her future, her fate had finally caught up with her. Trying to put all memories of Drake out of her mind she smiled weakly at him, but he didn’t seem to notice.
“Me too, Li.” He took her chin between his fingers and softly kissed her.
After a few seconds, they parted and Liam cleared his throat before speaking. “I just want to clarify something. Everything that has happened before today does not matter because we were not officially together. However, as I told you before, I am very serious about you. If you accept to be with me, nothing like that can happen again. The next time that you have a problem, you come to me and no one else.”
She didn’t know how much he knew about the two days she had spent with Drake but judging by his words much more than she thought.
“I understand, Li.” She tried to ignore her heart aching. “From now on, it’s only you and me. You don’t have to worry.”
He stood up giving her his hand so she could stand in front of him, he caressed her cheek with his thumb and kissed her passionately.
Alexis was feeling a mix of guilt and despair, it didn’t matter how much she tried, her heart, mind, and body belonged to Drake now, and she was going to condemn Liam and herself to a loveless life. She knew Liam wasn’t completely certain about her, that he was going to need some reassurance from her part.
“I trust you, love.” Liam looked at her lovingly. “In fact, I was thinking that I could introduce you as my fiancée tonight.” Alexis inhaled a deep breath, he stroke her arm gently. “I know that it’s a little early for that and that I haven’t officially proposed but I cannot think of a better way to introduce you tonight.” He leaned to kiss her. “With my choice of career, it’s where we are headed anyway. You know that darling, right?”
She nodded, trying to pass her sorrow for emotion at his words.
“Yes, of course.”
“You’re making me the happiest man in the world.” He took her hands and pressed them against his lips.
“I’m happy too, Li. Let’s go back to the state, I need to prepare for the Beaumont Bash tonight.”
He gave her his arm again and they walked back to the mansion unaware of the pair of chocolate eyes watching them from the East balcony.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thirty minutes before the gala Olivia knocked at Drake’s door.
When he opened it the first thing she noticed was the strong smell. The whiskey odor came as much from him as from the room itself.
“What the fuck, Drake? We have to be at the bash in 30 minutes, we’re supposed to look impeccable and you look like a Whiskey barrel just rolled over you.”
“Leave me alone Nevrakis, I’m in no mood for the gala.”
“You do not have a choice, Walker. So, go hop into the shower while I look for a proper suit. That is if I can find one that’s not stinking of whiskey. NOW”
After the shower, he came back into the room and found a blue suit on the bed. He got dressed and joined Olivia who was waiting outside.
“Care to tell me what was that pathetic pity party about?”
Drake kept on walking. “None of your business”
“Come on, Walker we are usually honest with each other, so cut the crap.”
Drake didn’t respond. His mind was full of images of Liam kissing Alexis, taking her by the arm, acting like she was his. He felt a sudden urge for whiskey that only deepened when they arrived at the gala. There they were, together. She looked stunning in a golden lamé dress and he looked like a Prince in a black tuxedo, the perfect picture of success.
Occupied with her own jealousy, Olivia took a moment to notice the change in Drake’s attitude. Drake’s fist clenched at both sides of his body and his usual sarcastic smirk had transformed into a rageful scowl addressed at his best friend. Luckily, Liam was too busy greeting his guests and holding the American woman to notice.
“Drake, for the last time. What the hell is going on?” She followed his gaze and suddenly, realization washed over her. “Oh fuck! You like that woman! That’s why you disappeared for two days at the same time as her. My staff told me that they saw you coming out of my cellar with some girl, it was her. Liam’s girl.”
He turned at her furious. “She wasn’t with Liam then.”
“Well, she sure is now” Olivia and Drake witnessed how Liam placed a kiss on Alexis' cheek and whispered something in her ear. Olivia took Drake’s arm reassuringly and walked towards the new couple.
“Come on, we are obliged to greet them. We’ll do it fast and then we’ll get wasted at the bar. Both of us”
Alexis felt his piercing chocolate eyes on her before turning her head.  Her breath hitched, her hands started to shake, and her heartbeat increased considerably, threatening to throw her heart out of her chest. She inhaled, trying her best to hide the anxiety. Liam must have seen Drake too because he immediately tightened his grip on her waist possessively.
“Welcome to the gala, Olivia” She offered Liam her hand and he kissed it before adding coldly, “Drake.” He looked directly into Drake’s eyes. “You both know Alexis, my fiancée.”
Drake could physically feel his heart shattering at Liam’s words, but he did his best to show them a cool, aloof façade.
“I’m very happy for you both.” He addressed himself to Liam first and then added looking at Alexis, “you make a beautiful couple.” Drake took her hand as Liam had done with Olivia’s. Without taking his eyes off of hers, he turned it, brushing a small kiss on the sensitive skin in the back of her wrist. Her fragrance immediately flooded into his nostrils, intoxicating him. A furious blush colored her cheeks, and her eyes were actively avoiding his.  Alexis prayed that Liam hadn’t noticed, but he had turned his head to talk to Olivia.
“Well, we have more guests to greet, see you both at dinner.” Liam turned to Penelope and Hana who were entering the ballroom.
“Come on Walker” Olivia patted his back.“Let’s get wasted”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maxwell was at the door looking over the last details of the party when he witnessed the exchange between Alexis, Liam, and Drake and felt deeply sad for all of them. Maxwell didn’t fully understand Alexis’ reasons, but she had seemed so scared at the idea of anyone finding out about her father’s threat that he had made an impossible promise. However, seeing his two best friends treating each other as enemies and Alexis so utterly devastated made him make a new decision. He was going to have to break his promise.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liam and Alexis had the first dance of the night as it was the tradition for the honor guests at the Beaumont Gala. He was an amazing dancer and swirled her around with ease and confidence, holding her tightly against him. She tried to remain calm as long as she could but seeing Drake had deeply shaken her. She couldn’t avoid feeling insanely jealous when she saw him arrive with Olivia. Without even noticing it, her eyes looked for him all across the ballroom until she felt his gaze from the bar. Alexis locked eyes with him over Liam’s shoulder. Drake was clutching his glass, his knuckles almost white as he watched them together. His eyes didn’t leave her for one second, but she wasn’t sure what was on them, finally, he broke their eye contact, drank his glass, and left.
Drake watched Liam and Alexis slide along the room together, unable to detach his eyes off of them, feeling like a blade slowly pierced him, every time Liam whispered something on her ear or pulled her closer to his chest. Only one day before, she was completely his and now she was dancing in another man’s arms like their story hadn’t even happened. He dreaded the mixture of things dwelling in the pitch of his stomach, the intense hatred mixed with his feelings for her, stronger than ever.  As he watched her move, he realized that her eyes were looking for someone across the ballroom, and then they stopped when they locked with his own gaze. Rage flooded through his veins. How dare she taunt him like that? He didn’t know what game she was playing at, but he wasn’t going to stay to find out. He gulped what was left of his whiskey and left the room before the song was finished.
When the song was finally over, she excused herself with Liam and decided to leave the party for a few minutes. She saw a door open in the hallway and entered the room to calm down before coming back to the gala.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tariq watched Alexis and Liam greet their closer guests. He hadn’t forgotten about how Alexis had humiliated him at that bar a month before.
“Hi T!” Tariq turned to the beautiful woman next to him. “Do you know her?” She cocked her head towards Alexis.
Tariq arched his brows “I met that whore in a bar, she behaved like she was above me before leaving with Drake Walker, and here she’s a month later parading in Liam Rhys’ arm like she’s a fucking virgin”
A smile formed on her lips, this was going to be much easier than she thought. “You know, I might have a little idea of how you can teach her what a real man is, T.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alexis entered the study so fast she didn’t realize that Drake was already there leaning his back against the wall drinking a glass of whiskey. Her heart stopped, she turned around as fast as she could to leave the room when she heard his voice.
“Are you following me, O’Brien?”
“No, I’m sorry I- I didn’t see you come in here” her soft voice made him even angrier.
He placed the glass on the desk and moved in front of the door to prevent her from leaving the room.
She took a sharp breath “Let.Me.Pass”
As much as he hated her, he wanted to be as close to her as he could. It was driving him mad.
She inhaled sharply “What do you want Drake?”
Drake took two steps in her direction making her walk backward until her back was against the wall, he placed his hand against it, trapping her, his left arm on one side of her, the wall on the other.
“What do I want?” he scoffed “What do I want?” He leaned towards her. Her heart started racing furiously, being this close to him made her feel drunk.
He looked at her intently “I want you fucking out of my head. I want you to tell me what sick game you’re playing at, because I saw you looking for me while you were dancing with your fiancé.” His face was only a few inches from her, his raspy voice in her ear had the immediate effect of goosebumps emerging all along her arms. He noticed them so he stroke one arm gently, locking his gaze on her. “I want to know why you’re trying to drive me insane.” He got closer to her, smelling her neck, almost kissing it “I can feel the effect I have on you, O’Brien.” Her breath hitched when he took her chin between his fingers “And you know what? Twenty-four hours ago, I would’ve killed for you” He got even closer to her mouth “I want you to know that I would’ve done anything to make you happy” Her smell was making him lose all self-control, he finally crashed his mouth with hers kissing her hungrily, Alexis responded to the kiss even more desperately, tugging his hair between her fingers. He stopped furiously with himself for giving in to her, so he grabbed her hands “but now? Now, I despise you, and I want you out of my life, that’s what I want.”
The contempt and hurt on his eyes were too much for her to bear. She freed herself from his grip and pushed him away. “Don’t worry, Drake. You got it. Now let me pass.”
He raised his hands mockingly taking a step backward so she could pass. “By all means, Ms. Rhys”
She left the room shutting the door angrily after her.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He was waiting for her at their usual meeting point.
“I talked to Tariq, he was easier to convince than I thought, he will make it look like she wanted it, don’t worry”
“Are you sure? It has to be credible”
“Don’t worry, he understands. I also have a photographer in the right position. Soon, all Cordonia’s news will be talking about the new future first lady and what a whore she is, Liam will be humiliated.”
He smirked before kissing her. “That’s perfect”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maxwell saw Drake walking furiously towards his room
“Drake!” Maxwell ran behind him “Fuck, Drake! Stop! I need to tell you something important!”
He stopped. “What do you want Beaumont? I'm really not in the mood for your nonsense right now.”
“I know, it’s about Lexie.”
Just hearing her name hurt. “I’m not interested.”
“But, Dr-“
“Are you deaf Beaumont?? I’M.NOT.FUCKING.INTERESTED.”
Maxwell had spent his childhood being friends with Drake and his frequent outbursts; he wasn’t going to be impressed easily.
“She needs you!” He yelled back “She’s scared and desperate and needs you.”
He stopped dead in his tracks at Maxwell’s words and turned around slowly.
“What do you mean scared? Of what?”
“I don’t know. She wasn’t very expli-”
Drake sighed, annoyed “She’s messing with your head, Beaumont. It’s what she does best”
“Argh! Would you shut the fuck up and listen for one second?” He yelled.
Drake arched his brows, he wasn’t used to seeing that side of Maxwell.
“She told me that her father is threatening with… something… and because of a mistake that she made when she was younger, she has to do what he says. That’s why she’s with Liam. Believe me, Drake, I spent last night comforting her, she’s incredibly sad and desperate.”
Drake scoffed but a small part of him wondered, her father was certainly capable of doing something like that, and it would definitely explain a lot of what had happened between them.
Maxwell watched his best friend debate with himself.
“Look, she didn’t even want me to tell you, hell she begged me not to. But she was terrified, I swear Drake. Please talk to her”
Drake knew right then that he didn’t have a choice. Not really. If she was feeling scared ... terrified, he had to be there for her, he had to help her.
“I’ll talk to her Max”
Max grinned relieved. “Now?”
Drake ran a hand through his hair. “Not now, we just  fought and I’m still very drunk from the party, but tomorrow, first thing in the morning, I will make sure she’s fine.”
“Ok, buddy.”
Drake rolled his eyes. “I’ll go to sleep now and…” He patted Max on his back. “Thank you Max, you’re a good friend.”
Tariq watched from the corner he was hiding, how Drake and Maxwell say good night to each other before taking the left corridor to their rooms. When they were out of sight, he took the right side of the hall where he was told Alexis’ quarters were. He put his hand on his pocket to make sure the key to her room was still there when he felt it, he grinned to himself thinking about her all alone in her room. His night was definitely going to be unforgettable.

The second half is two years after Kaia graduates. There will be sprinklings of canon in this fic, but we’ll try to step out of the box for the most part. Thanks for reading, and please leave feedback, and/or if you would like to be tagged.

Chapter Summary: The gang attends their first college football game and frat party.
Kaia
I laid back on my bed and threw my arm over my head, my phone pressed to my ear. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to wear to a college football game, Nadia. Can you please come over and help me?”
She laughed. “Just wear something with the school logo on it. You’re telling me you don’t have anything Bobcats in your closet?”
I sighed. “No, I forgot to run over to the bookstore and pick up a shirt. Do you think they’re still open?”
“You can grab one at the team store on the way to the game. They’re always open before kickoff. Just throw a cute tank top on and slip the shirt over it. Or change in the bathroom.”
I huffed and shoved a Twizzler in my mouth. “Fine. I gotta let you go so I can jump in the shower. Text me when you’re on your way.”
“Will do,” she singsonged and hung up the phone. I dropped mine on the mattress next to me and tried to work up the courage to get up. The mattress wasn’t the most comfortable, but after the crazy first week of classes I had, it was more tempting than getting up to go to a football game. Or a frat party. My roommate Victoria marched in, holding a bag under her arm.
“Just call me your fairy godmother,” she said, tossing the bag on my bed. I sat up and looked inside, seeing a Hartfeld Bobcats t-shirt inside.
“Where did you get this?” I asked.
“Bought one last weekend, but it was the wrong size. I’ve been meaning to take it back, but I never got around to it. Try it on. If it fits, you can have it.”
I jumped off the bed and pulled the shirt from the bag, slipping it on over my black cami. I gasped when it fit like a glove. I stood in front of the floor-length mirror in our dorm room, checking myself out. Daaaamn, I looked fine!  I engulfed her in a hug. “You’re the best!”
“It was nothing really. Go have a great time at the game. And tell me all about it tomorrow.”
“You’re not going?” I asked.
“Nah. I met this guy the other night and we have our first date tonight. He’s taking me to this Italian restaurant the next town over. Apparently, the plates are bigger than your head.”
“Ooh! New guy? Dish,” I probed. I didn’t know much about my roommate’s love life. Mainly because she kept things like that to herself. Although, I did find out that first night we hung out that she lost her virginity to some guy named Spike. She told me he roared like a motorcycle when he came. We laughed about it for a good twenty minutes.
She turned crimson, hiding her face behind her long black locks. “Well...his name is Drake. He moved here for school from some foreign country named Cordonia, but he doesn’t have an accent. I think he said his family is from Texas, but he grew up overseas. He’s kind of brooding. Wears a lot of denim. I really like him.”
I squealed and pinched her cheeks. “Well, good luck. And if you bring him back to the dorm, put a sock over the doorknob so I know not to interrupt anything.” She blushed and I winked at her. “Okay, I gotta hit the shower. My cousin will be here shortly.” I grabbed my clothes, a towel, and my shower caddy and made my way down the hall to the shared bathroom in our dorm. Thankfully there wasn’t a line, so I took the first open stall.
After my shower, I slipped on my favorite pair of Levi’s jeans and the Bobcats shirt Victoria gave me. I applied neutral eyeshadow, false lashes, a light sweep of blush, and a swipe of nude lipstick on my lips, checked my reflection one last time, and headed back to my dorm. My phone chimed with a text from Nadia announcing that she was on her way, so I grabbed my crossbody and a hoodie in case it got chilly and headed downstairs. I saw Nadia and Sloane sitting in the cab of a royal blue 1990s Chevy Silverado pickup.
“What is this?” I asked, holding my hands out.
Nadia jumped out of the driver’s seat and rounded the vehicle, swinging her arms out like she was Vanna effing White and this truck was the grand prize. “You like? It’s Steve’s. He’s letting us borrow it to go to the game.”
I scrunched up my nose, examining the beat-up body of the pickup. Is...is that a racing stripe?
Sloane remained in the truck, fiddling with the dials on the in-dash radio. “Come on, you two! We’re going to be late,” she shouted from the front seat. My eyes darted to Nadia, then back to Sloane. I sighed and moved over to the passenger’s side, crawling up onto the bench seat next to Sloane.
We drove the five minutes it took to get from the dorms to the Robert Q. Harris Memorial Stadium, going over our game plan for the night. As we pulled up in the parking lot, we noticed a tailgate in progress.
“Ooh! This is going to be exciting! Your first tailgate, Sloane!” Nadia squealed. She pulled into a spot and put the truck in park. “Okay, girls. Here are your pom-poms,” she said, handing Sloane and I each a pom wand. We exited the truck and walked over to where some other students were playing beer pong.
“Oh, my gods! I’ve heard of this game, but I’ve never seen it played up-close,” Sloane said, clutching her hands to her chest. She moved toward the table and watched the two guys in Bobcats jerseys line up their shots. The first guy’s ball bounced off the rim of the red Solo cup, and his companions all groaned in frustration.
“I’m usually way better than this,” the guy protested as his friends laughed at him. We watched a few more rounds of the game before moving on to another group. Three girls in cut-off Bobcats t-shirts were holding a funnel and a tube above another girl’s head and pouring beer into the funnel.
“Why are those girls drinking beer out of a funnel?” Sloane asked.
“That’s a beer bong. They do this so they can get drunk faster,” I explained to her. She nodded her head, watching the girls in concentration as they assisted their friend in “funneling” her beer, then cheering when she finished it.
“Fascinating,” Sloane said, observing the girls as they lined up for another hit. We made our way through the parking lot, stopping occasionally at different groups to check out their tailgating activities. After several minutes, we made it to the stadium gates. Nadia fished our tickets out of her purse and handed them to the attendant. He scanned our tickets and let us through. We walked through the concourse, checking out the different food and drinks offered at the concession stands. We found our gate and made our way to our seats.
We took our seats and settled in, squeezing into the front row of the bleachers, right behind the home bench. A guy in a BU Wolves jersey sitting at the end of our row slid across the bench and wrapped his arm around Sloane’s shoulder.
“Hey, cutie! You here to check out a little sports ball? Greg here will tell you all you need to know. So, the guys in burgundy are the home team. They’re who you need to root for. That weird spherical object in the middle of the field is called a football. That’s the name of the sport.”
Nadia leaned over and gave the guy a death glare. “Excuse me! Are you actually trying to mansplain football to my friend?”
He raised his hands in defense. “Calm down, babe. I’m just trying to help her out. She doesn’t look like she’s ever watched a game in her life.”
“Who are you to assume she’s never watched football because of how she looks? Get lost, creep,” I spat out.
Sloane cleared her throat. “I’ve got this, girls.” She straightened her glasses and turned to the guy. “For your information, I’ve watched plenty of organized sports. Did you know that the main physical actions of American football, such as blocking, running, and tackling illustrate several fundamental concepts in physics, biomechanics, and math? It’s quite interesting to calculate how many pounds of water a player loses on the field or how much energy it takes to stop a running back in a full-on sprint.” She crossed her arms over her chest and smirked at the guy. He hung his head sheepishly and got up from his seat, scurrying away embarrassed. Nadia and I sat there in awe, then dogpiled her in a group hug.
“Have I told you you’re my hero?” I asked her.
“I’m dating the first-string wide receiver and I didn’t even know that,” Nadia chimed. Sloane laughed and returned our hug before turning her attention back to the field. Both teams were announced and we leaped from our seats and cheered as Steve jogged past us to the bench. He spotted us in the crowd and shot Nadia a wink.
The game kicked off and the Bobcats received the ball first. The quarterback threw a 20-yard pass to Steve on the first play, and he took it to the house an additional 60-yards to put the first points on board. I thought Nadia was going to pass out with how hard she was screaming and jumping up and down.
The opposing team got the ball next and their running back broke through the line on the first snap for a 45-yard play before he was tackled by the Bobcats defense. They drove down the field on the next play and tied it up. Both teams went score for score throughout the game, and it came down to a tied score of 35-35 during the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.
The Bobcats had the ball at their own 45-yard line. It was 3rd and 2. The running back lined up in the backfield while Steve lined up off the line of scrimmage to block and wait for the center to snap the ball. The QB called an audible at the line and when the ball was snapped, he slung it to a wide-open Steve, who danced down the sideline 50-yards as time expired to give the Bobcats a 42-35 win. Nadia tossed her popcorn and her pom in the air as the stadium erupted in cheers. Steve’s teammates engulfed him as they celebrated on the field.
We filed out of the stadium and waited by the team entrance for Steve to arrive. When he emerged a few minutes later, Nadia took off in a dead sprint and leaped into his arms, nearly tackling him to the ground.
“YOU DID IT, BABY! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU,” she shouted as she wrapped her arms and legs around him, peppering his face with kisses. Sloane and I watched in amusement as Nadia and Steve mauled each other in the parking lot.
“Okay, lovebirds. Let’s save some of this for the afterparty,” I said, rolling my eyes. Steve set Nadia down and we made our way to where his truck was parked. We climbed in and set off for the Delta Mu Kappa house.
When we pulled up to the curb, the party was spilling out onto the front lawn of the frat house. We exited the pickup and weaved through the throngs of partygoers to enter the house. The bass thumped through the room and dancers moved erratically to the beat on the makeshift dance floor.
Steve held Nadia’s hand and guided us through the living room to the keg set up in the kitchen. The guy operating the tap extended his hand to Steve for a high-five, which he returned, then poured beer in cups for him and Nadia. He then offered Sloane and I a drink. I declined, but Sloane accepted. The guy poured her a beer and she took a sip, a dollop of foam coating the tip of her nose. Her face turned up in disgust.
“This tastes awful,” she said, wiping the foam off her nose and upper lip and handing the cup back to him.
“It’s an acquired taste,” Steve laughed, taking a sip of his own. Nadia pulled on Steve’s arm, urging him to the dance floor. He nodded at Sloane and I, then followed her to the living room. Keg Guy pointed to a red cooler and offered us a couple of Smirnoff Ice Wild Grapes. Sloane and I took the drinks, clinking the bottles together in cheers, then each took a swig.
“Oh my gods, this is delicious,” she shouted over the loud music. We leaned against the kitchen counter, scanning the crowd. After a few minutes, she noticed someone from her Spanish Comp class and excused herself to say hi. I continued to crowd watch, sipping on my Smirnoff, when I noticed Damien striding toward the keg. His eyes met mine and a grin spread across his face.
“This doesn’t look like your scene,” I said to him.
“Yours either,” he retorted.
I laughed. “Touché. Nadia’s boyfriend invited us. At least the refreshments are top-notch.” I tipped my drink up to him. He chuckled and moved over to the keg, grabbing a fresh beer from Keg Guy. He nodded thanks and walked back over to where I was standing.
“Nadia’s here? I’m going to have to say hi to her sometime tonight.”
“Yeah, she and Steve are out dry-humping on the dance floor.”
He threw back his head in laughter. Gods, I missed that laugh. “So, what do you think of your first college party so far?”
“Who said this was my first college party?”
“Just a guess. If it was, I’m sure we would have run into each other by now,” he said, taking a drink. “Nice shirt by the way. It looks good on you. Did you go to the game?”
I looked down at my shirt, noticing the way it hugged my curves. My cheeks flushed as I avoided his gaze. “Yeah, Nadia’s boyfriend is the star wide receiver so we went to watch him,” I said, brushing a piece of lint from my shirt.
“Mhmm, Tennyson. Yeah, he had a hell of a game. That 50-yard TD at the end was nuts. No one could cover him. The kid’s a machine.”
What a weird thing to say. I took another sip of my Smirnoff and scanned the crowd. “So, where’s your girlfriend tonight?”
He sputtered and started choking on his beer. I leaned over and slapped his back a few times until he regained his composure. He wiped the beads of beer dribbling down his chin with the back of his hand. “She’s around here somewhere. What about you?”
“My girlfriend is at home waiting for me. Parties aren’t really her thing.”
His eyes widened, which caused me to burst out laughing. “I’m kidding, I don't have a girlfriend. Or a boyfriend for that matter. I’m just here with my friends. Who have all conveniently disappeared. But that means I can scout the local talent for my next boo.”
He cleared his throat and hid a smile with his cup. “Well, good luck with that. You have your pick of the litter with this new crop of freshmen. What about him over there?” He pointed his cup to the dance floor.
I squinted, trying to follow his line of sight, but with it being so dimly lit, I was having trouble making out most of the faces in the crowd. “Who?”
He leaned in to guide me to where he was looking and I got a whiff of his scent. Masculine. Earthy with hints of leather and sandalwood. I closed my eyes and inhaled, trying not to make it obvious. The smell caused the butterflies in my stomach to flutter wildly. Memories of our last night together flooded my mind and I took a step back and chugged the rest of my drink, trying to tamp down my urges. I spotted the guy he was pointing at — a shorter guy with curly brown hair and glasses — nursing his beer as he made eyes with different girls on the dance floor. “Wait...I-is that Brad?”
He burst out laughing and I leaned over to slap his arm. My palm touched his bicep and the firmness of his muscles against my hand caused my breath to catch. I narrowed my eyes at him and shook my head. “Not funny, dude.”
“It was worth a shot. Hey, I’ll be right back. I gotta hit the head,” he set his empty cup on the counter behind me and winked as he moved through the crowd toward the bathrooms. I watched him until he disappeared from sight and clutched the empty bottle in my hand, willing my nerves to calm. You can do this, Kaia. It’s just Damien.
But could I?
***
Damien
I made my way through the packed fraternity house, trying not to bump into anyone as I headed for the bathroom. When I reached my destination, the door was shut and only one person was waiting. I leaned against the wall and tapped my fingers against my thigh. The door swung open and a drunk guy stumbled out, allowing the girl in front of me to enter.
I looked back toward the kitchen and could still see Kaia leaning against the kitchen counter. The strobe lights danced off her features as she was leaning over talking to the kid manning the keg. Whatever he said made her throw her head back in laughter. A tinge of jealousy coursed through me. Why was I jealous? She wasn’t mine. And besides, I had a girlfriend. Somewhere in this house. Speaking of. I pulled my phone from my pocket and sent her a text, asking her where she was.
The girl in the bathroom came out, and I entered. I shut the door and leaned forward, resting my hands on the sink. Staring at my reflection, I sucked in a deep breath and tried to get my emotions in check. Having Kaia back in my life after four years was fucking with my head. When she laughed, I wanted to do everything possible to keep hearing that sound. When I leaned in to point Brad out to her on the dance floor, her hair brushed against my nose and I inhaled the scent of her shampoo. It smelled like lavender and rosemary. When she smacked my bicep, I wanted to grab her wrist and pull her to me, to feel her body pressed against mine.
My phone chimed with a text from Alana, breaking me from my Kaia spell. She said she was in the backyard and asked where I was. I gave her my location, then set my phone back down on the sink and turned on the cold water faucet. I cupped my hands and splashed water on my face. A few moments later, someone knocked and I heard Alana’s voice on the other side. I swung the door open and she strutted inside, closing the door behind her and leaning back against it.
“Well, looks like we’re all alone in here, huh?” she said, sashaying across the bathroom to where I was standing. “Why don’t we pick up where we left off since we were so rudely interrupted the other day?” She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled my head down, capturing my lips in a searing kiss.
“Alana, baby. We can’t. Not in here.”
“Why not? We’ve never done it in the bathroom of a frat house before. It could be fun.” She said, pulling the shell of my ear between her teeth.
“What if someone comes in?”
She backed away from me and locked the door, never breaking eye contact. “Better?” she said, arching her eyebrow. I sighed and moved in, kissing and sucking the curve of her neck. She brought her hands up to my hair, raking her fingers through the thick strands. “See, this isn’t so bad, is it?”
I growled into her neck and dragged my hands down her hips, catching the hem of her shirt and pulling it up. When my fingers skimmed the strip of skin, she inhaled sharply. Our lips crashed together and she scraped her nails across my scalp. My fingers trailed lightly up her ribcage and brushed against the lace trim of her bra, causing her grip on my hair to tighten. A loud pounding on the other side of the door startled us.
“Yo, you about done in there, bro? Some of us gotta take a piss,” A guy’s voice called out.
Alana growled, “Motherfucker!” She huffed and pushed herself off of me. Fuming, she straightened her clothes, checked herself in the mirror and yanked the bathroom door open. The drunk frat bro on the other side jumped when she appeared.
“Whoa! I didn’t know it was this kind of party! Hey, baby! If you’re done with this dude, I believe it’s my turn,” he said, reaching out to stroke her arm.
She rolled her eyes and brought her knee to the frat bro’s groin, dropping him like a hot potato. The people in line behind him all groaned as Alana stomped away. I leaned down and rested my hand on the drunk guy’s shoulder. “You should probably learn how to talk to girls, bro,” I said, patting him a few times before walking off. I scanned the party for Alana, but when I couldn’t find her, I pulled out my phone and texted her to ask her where she went. Several minutes passed with no response, so I made my way back to the kitchen. I saw Kaia still standing in the same spot, talking to a girl with curly brown hair and glasses.
“Took you long enough. Did you fall in?” she said, raking her eyes up and down my body.
“Long line. It happens.” I turned to her friend, “Hi! I’m Damien. And who might you be?”
The girl extended her hand. “Sloane. Sloane Washington. So, you’re Kaia’s mysterious hot older friend. Wow, I can see why she’s so enamored by you,” she said, winking. My eyes darted to Kaia and her cheeks instantly turned pink.
“Sloane! What the hells?”
“Oh, whoops! Was I not supposed to say that out loud?” she giggled, slapping her hand over her mouth. “I probably should stop drinking these.”
I chuckled and turned back to Kaia. “Hot older friend, huh?”
Kaia looked down at the floor, her silky strands falling in her face. I resisted the urge to reach out and brush them away. “Don’t let it go to your head, Dames. You know how good you look.”
I cocked an eyebrow and Sloane giggled. “Well, thank you. I’m glad that my looks haven’t gone to shit yet. I figure I’ve got about five more years before Father Time superkicks me in the face.”  My comment drew laughs from both of them.
“So, how do you two know each other?” Sloane asked.
“We grew up together,” Kaia answered quickly before taking a long pull of her drink.
“What she means is that she lived next door to me and always hung out at my house because all the kids her age were losers, so she wanted a ‘cool friend.’”
Kaia rolled her eyes, trying to hide a smile. I turned back to Sloane. “How was your first week of classes?”
She pushed her glasses up her nose. “Pretty good, but my Calc class is going to be tough. The professor is a nightmare.”
“Dr. Carson? Yeah, he’s a real ball-bust...err...I mean, he’s strict. When I had him freshman year, he made a girl cry the first week of class. He also grades on a curve.”
Sloane’s eyes widened. “Don’t tell me that! I have to take Calc II with him next semester too.”
I laughed and turned to Kaia. “What about you? Any classes or professors you want to run screaming from yet?”
She shook her head. “Thankfully, no. Although there’s this super creepy guy in my Interpersonal Comm class that keeps hitting on me, even after I’ve rejected his advances.”
I hummed. “You should probably punch the guy. I’ve heard that gets your point across pretty effectively.”
She laughed and I felt my chest tighten. Gods, I loved that sound. I asked the girls if they both wanted another drink, and they nodded yes, so I made my way over to the cooler and retrieved three Smirnoff Ices. I handed them to the girls, and when Kaia took hers, our fingers brushed. Her breath hitched and a smile tugged at my lips. She twisted the bottle cap off, not meeting my eyes. I popped the top of mine and took a long swig, my face turning up in disgust. Holy shit, this stuff is awful. How do chicks drink this garbage? I looked over at Kaia and saw her watching me. She noticed my facial expression and burst out laughing.
“You gonna finish that?”
“Fuck, no. This is all you,” I replied, handing her the bottle. I moved over to the kid manning the keg and asked him if they had any rum.
“I think there’s some in the liquor cabinet, bro. Right over there,” he replied, pointing to a China Hutch on the other side of the fridge. I walked over and opened the cabinet, examining the contents inside. A few bottles remained. A thin layer of dust coated the shelves where liquor bottles once sat. I spotted the bottle of spiced rum toward the back. Thanking the liquor gods, I grabbed it and dusted it off. I grabbed a red Solo cup off the counter and poured two fingers of the golden liquid into the glass, taking a sip. Damn, this shit is smooth. I made my way back over to where Kaia and Sloane were still talking and held the bottle up to them.
“You girls wanna play a drinking game?”
Sloane shook her head. “I’ll pass. But thanks for offering. I’m going to go use the bathroom.”
My eyes darted to Kaia. She shrugged. “Sure. Why not? Let’s do this.”
I smirked and moved over to Keg Guy, asking if he had a deck of cards. He pointed me to a drawer next to the sink. I opened it and found a deck of adult-themed novelty playing cards. The box had pictures of women in various states of undress. I rolled my eyes. Classy.  Kaia and I moved over to the kitchen table and I poured more rum into my glass. “Okay, so this game is called the Nazario Chug…”
“Wait...you have a card game named after yourself?” Kaia asked suspiciously.
I chuckled and began shuffling the cards. “Long story. We came up with it my freshman year. So here are the rules. You take the top card. Black card means dare, red means truth. If you fail or want to dodge your task, you drink according to the number on your card.”
“Ooh, a new twist on truth or dare. This should be interesting,” she said, taking a sip of one of the bottles of Smirnoff.
I smiled and cut the deck then placed it between us on the table. “Hey, save your drinks for the game. Okay, since this is your first time playing, you go first.”
She leaned over and grabbed the first card and flipped it towards me. “Five of diamonds. So, red.”
I nodded. “Truth. So, what do you think about Hartfeld so far?”
She cocked an eyebrow at me. “Softball questions right off the bat? I thought this game would be more of a challenge.”
I laughed. “I don’t want to be too hard on you your first time. Answer the question or drink.”
She pressed her lips together and hummed. “It’s okay.”
“Just okay? Come on. You can do better than that.”
“Well, the classes are good. The professors seem cool. And I’ve already made a few friends.”
“But…” I probed.
“I don’t know. It’s only been a week. I feel like I can’t give a more detailed answer just yet.”
I nodded. “Fair enough.” I reached over and pulled the next card from the deck. Three of Clubs and black. I shook my head and Kaia’s eyes lit up when I turned the card to face her. She laughed maniacally and rubbed her hands together. “You’re going to make me embarrass myself in front of the whole party, aren’t you?” I groaned.
She tapped her finger against her bottom lip, the motion drawing my eyes to her mouth. Her lips were so plump, I wanted to lean in and taste them. She caught me staring and snapped her fingers in my face. “Hey, space case. Pay attention. Here’s your dare. See that blonde doing a keg stand over there?” she pointed to the keg where a freshman girl — being held up by two frat bros — sucked the beer from the lever while a small crowd cheered her on. After several moments, she gagged and beer shot from her nostrils, causing her to start coughing.
“You want me to do that?” I asked. She giggled and nodded. I shook my head and moved over to the keg. One of the frat bros noticed me.
“Hey, man. You wanna get in on this?”
I sighed. “Yeah, let’s get this over with.” I braced my hands on either side of the keg’s rim and lifted my body weight. The two frat bros grabbed each of my legs and held me up as I grabbed the tap and opened the lever, allowing the foamy liquid to pour in my mouth. I chugged the beer as Kaia and the crowd around us started chanting, “Chug, chug, chug.” Thirty seconds in, the beer must have gone down the wrong tube, because I started choking and spat up beer. The crowd moaned and the two frat bros helped me down. I moved back over to the table, where Kaia was crouched over laughing, holding her stomach.
“Holy shit. That was awesome!”
“Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up, freshman. Draw your damn card.”
She wiped the tears from her eyes and retrieved the next card. A frown formed on her face and she turned the card to face me. The King of Clubs, black.
“Payback,” I smirked. She groaned and threw her head back. My eyes scanned the crowd, looking for someone to recruit for Kaia’s dare. I spotted a kid with frosted tips and a denim jacket that screamed late ‘90s, leaning against the wall. He looked completely out of his element. Bingo. I pointed to him. “See that guy over there? I dare you to go over to him and pretend you’re his biggest fan.”
“Wh-what?”
“Then, you have to get a selfie with him.”
She gnawed on her bottom lip for a few beats, then nodded and took a deep breath. My eyes stayed glued to her as she rose from her seat and straightened her clothing. “I’ve got this,” she said with a cocky tone. She smirked and marched over to where the guy was standing. I watched in amusement as she gripped his arm with both of her hands and shouted, “Oh wow! Are...are you Niall Horan?” The guy gave her a confused expression as several people turned around to look at them.
She released his arm and pretended to fumble with her phone. She then tapped the screen and handed it to a random girl standing nearby. Jealousy coursed through my veins again as the guy snaked his arm around Kaia’s waist and pressed a kiss to her cheek. The girl held the phone up to snap the photos and I watched them, trying to tamp down the feelings. I pushed back from the table and started walking toward them when a pair of arms caught me from behind.
“There you are! I’m ready to go when you are,” Alana slurred, clutching my midsection as she swayed on her feet.
I watched Kaia as she chatted with the guy. A smile spread wide across her face as he leaned in to whisper something in her ear. As much as I wanted to go over there and claim her, I knew I couldn’t. I sighed and turned around, wrapping an arm around my intoxicated girlfriend’s shoulder. “Yeah, let’s get out of here.”
She slipped her hand in my back pocket and guided me through the crowd toward the door. I looked back and caught Kaia’s eye as we retreated from the kitchen. She stared at me, her face void of emotion. I gave her a weak smile and led Alana out of the house to our car.

that’s why i hate you [AU. drake x camille]
Tumblr media
So I said I was taking a writing break and that lasted what.. 3 1/2 days. Tbh, I’m not back to writing my full series yet, this one shot just came to me.
I tried to do stuff to remember my grandad. It turns out making a memory box is actually brutal and didn’t help me at all so I wrote instead. I’ll get there at some point.
Warnings: It’s NSFW. It’s got a tiny bit of angst but it’s mostly NSFW. It’s got a lot of swearing, actually.
So don’t read this if you’re under 18.
Fully expecting Tumblr to flag this because Tumblr likes to flag my stuff, like say oh, my MASTER LIST which had nothing offensive on it?!
So, what if Drake and Camille had met at court and instead of them getting close like in the original books.. they just flat out hate each other? But kinda crush on each other? But really, for the most part, they hate each other?

'Well done, Walker, looks like we're lost.'
'Will you please just shut up for a second, let me think!'
'No need for the attitude, I'm just saying you've gotten us lost.'
'I'm aware of that Einstein, thank you.'
'Could have used Sat Nav but nooo, someone had to be clever and insisted he knew where he was going -'
'Fucks sake, I told you to shut up!'
'How about you BOTH shut up?!' Olivia snapped. Camille and Drake turned to glare at her, interrupted in their row.
Maxwell was sunk down in his seat, praying they would stop arguing. He hated conflict.
Hana was staring out the window, her jaw set, trying to think of her happy place.
Liam was holding his head in his hands, broken after yet another fight between Drake and Camille in the space of an hour.
He wished the two of them just accepted the fact they were actually in love with each other instead of partaking in this 'Who Hates Who More' contest they had been embroiled in since Camille arrived in Cordonia two months ago.
Drake had been mean to her from the beginning. He was always a bit of an asshole but he seemed to hone in on Camille and took it out on her. Liam didn't know why.
After trying to win him around with no success, Camille instead decided she didn't like him and so answered every one of his sarcastic comments, insults and glaring expressions with all the hatred she could muster.
The group were travelling to the south coast for the weekend for Maxwell's birthday. At first, they weren't sure to invite both of them but in the end, Maxwell thought it would be a good opportunity for Drake and Camille to get to know each other in a more relaxed setting.
Big mistake.
To start, Camille had insisted on playing Britney Spears in the car. The group had all complied, except for Drake who said, 'I'm the driver, driver picks. And as the driver, I am not poisoning my ears with that bubblegum slutty crap.'
Big mistake.
'Slutty crap?!' Camille burst out. 'Jesus, you're so fucking misogynistic, just because she sings about sex does not make her a slut! Women are allowed to appreciate sex you know!'
'Heh, hear hear,' Olivia muttered, smiling as she listened to Camille rip Drake a new one.
'Camille, stop shouting...' Drake groaned.
They had drove in silence for a mile or two, settling for radio instead. Camille opened a bag of popcorn. 'Anyone want a snack?' she had asked. Maxwell had grinned, reaching out to take some, but shrank back when Drake said bluntly, 'No snacks in the car.'
'Excuse me? It's a road trip!' Camille protested.
'You're not getting that shit all over the seats,' `Drake replied. 'No chance.'
Camille stared at him. 'This isn't even your car, Drake. It's a fucking hire car.'
'Which I fucking paid for, Montespan,' Drake bit back. 'If the seats get ruined, it's my credit card that takes a beating.'
'Huh, surprised you don't spend all your cash on whiskey,' Camille said, staring straight ahead at the road beyond.
There had been more silence. Maxwell was too scared to breathe. Olivia was trying to nap. Hana was listening to a podcast, headphones in. Liam was trying to make fun small talk.
Now, they were lost and arguing again.
'It's getting dark,' Hana said. 'Let's just find a hotel, sleep off this negative energy and start again tomorrow.'
'Good idea!' Liam agreed. 'I'll Google the nearest one on my phone.'
Camille smirked and said sweetly, 'Google a hotel using Google maps?'
'Yup!'
Camille turned to look at Drake, her eyebrow raised. 'Hear that, Walker? Google maps. Look it up.'
Drake clenched the steering wheel and was about to launch into profanities but was interrupted by Liam who said there was a hotel a mile away. 'Looks a bit shit but hey, it's a bed right?'
The King of Cordonia was really relaxed when it came to hotels, probably because he was so used to the palace that a trailer park would have been a nice novelty.
'Care to direct us, Liam, since Drake can't do that one basic task?' Camille asked.
'You're a fucking cuntsatchel,' Drake muttered. Camille rolled her eyes and helped herself to popcorn, ignoring Drake's stare of contempt.
                                 *************************************************
'I'm sharing with Hana!' Maxwell called out as they wandered down the hallway. It was a motel. It was shit. Olivia was going to be washing her hands every five minutes.
'I'll share with you, Liam,' Olivia said.
Drake and Camille stopped dead. 'Are you fucking kidding?' Drake asked, frowning. 'I'm not sharing with her.'
Camille nodded. 'For once we agree on something. Seconded, I'm not sharing with him!'
Maxwell groaned. 'Guys, I'm sleepy, please can you just share the room so we can all go to bed?'
'I'm not sharing with her,' Drake replied, crossing his arms.
'Guys, come on,' Liam tried.
'No,' they both said.
'You've got to be friendly at some point,' Hana tried to convince them. 'It would make everything so much better.'
'We'll never be friends,' Camille replied. 'He's a whiskey drinking, sarcastic, arrogant dickhead-'
'and she's an annoying, sunshiney naive little girl -'
'For God's sake, will you both please just fuck already?!' Liam shouted. There was a long, shocked silence.
'Excuse me?!' Camille gasped finally. Olivia smirked. 'He's just saying what we're all thinking.'
'You're sick,' Drake said. 'Actually sick.'
Liam sighed. 'It's just so obvious. You act like you both hate each others guts but you don't realise that we see you both watching each other when you think the other can't see. Your eyes follow each other around the room. Camille will make a joke and Drake, your mouth quirks up in the corner as you try to supress laughter. Camille, when you dance with a random guy at court, you always look at Drake who's sat in the corner, as if you wish you were dancing with him instead. Face it, you guys want each other and for some fucked up reason, you won't admit it. So please, for all of us, share the fucking room and have some hate sex. Please. '
He tossed the room key and Drake and dragged himself off to his room with the group following close behind.
Drake and Camille stood at the door awkwardly. 'Umm..' Camille said.
Drake sighed. 'Fuck it. Let's raid the mini bar.'
                             *******************************************
'What kind of hotel room doesn't have a mini bar?!'
Camille rolled her eyes as Drake raged. He looked genuinely pissed off. She ignored his ranting and placed her bag on the bed.
'That's my side,' Drake said, breaking off from his raging.
Camille blinked. 'No. The right side is my side.'
'Same. Move your bag.'
Camille stared at him. 'No! My bag was here first. I got dibs.'
Drake groaned and reached out to pick up her bag. Camille grabbed his arm and said with a warning tone in her voice, 'Don't touch my stuff.'
Drake's eyes met hers. 'Fine, Your Majesty.'
'You are honestly such a prick,' Camille hissed. 'Why are you such a dick to me? I never did anything to you and yet you treat me like garbage!'
Drake drew himself up, his chest out. 'Because you're annoying. You're like this eternal sunshine person which is exhausting. You're constantly around and you think you're like the nobles but you're not. Court is full of awful people and you just so willingly trust them which makes you naive. And you smell of coconut which sometimes lingers on my shirt when you're gone and it's so irritating! '
'It's not my fault I smell of coconut!' she shouted.
'Your hair smells of coconut! Literally all of you smells of fucking coconut! Whenever I smell coconut, I'm fucking reminded of you and then I start thinking about you and it’s really fucking inconvenient!'
Camille stared at him. 'You think about me?' she asked, her voice incredulous. Drake paled. Of course she had latched onto the one thing he hadn't meant to say.
'No,' he answered shortly. 'I never think about you.'
The lie slid from his tongue so easily.
Of course I think about you. I think about you when I wake up, knowing I'll see you that day. I think about you before I go to sleep because that's the time of day when I'm alone with my thoughts and I'm unguarded. I think about you when I jerk myself off, thinking about your coconut hair, your caramel skin, your brown eyes that have gold flecks. I think about how you might taste if I went down on you. I think about how you would feel around my dick. I think about kissing you, constantly kissing you, never coming up for air because I want to drown in your coconut scent. I think about dancing with you at a ball and how your hand will feel in mine. We don’t get along in the slightest and yeah, that’s my fault, I started it. Your constant positivity and sunshine attitude irritated me at the start because I felt you were being naive about court. You were setting yourself up to be hurt and if you knew me, you would know that I hate that kind of vulnerability. I wanted to protect you but you weren’t - you’re NOT- mine to protect. But that doesn’t stop me from thinking about you. I think about you all the fucking time and that's why I hate you.
He didn't say any of that though. Instead, he just maintained his steady gaze on her, his eyes penetrating hers. They were standing so close together. Drake allowed himself to think that if he just bowed his head, he could kiss her. As quickly as the thought came, he pushed it down but Camille saw his eyes darken and knew what he had just thought. She thought about it too and her eyes also darkened, mirroring his own.
They acted on it at the same time.
Their mouths collided and Camille threw her arms around his neck, holding onto him for dear life. Drake's fingers tangled in her hair and he caught a whiff of coconut. He felt his jeans tighten.
Drake lifted her up, holding her ass to keep her in place. Their tongues twisted and fought, both of them trying to establish dominance. Drake wanted to win.
Throwing her down on the bed, Drake then pulled off his shirt and cast it to the floor. Camille watched, her pupils huge, as he advanced on her. She had no idea he had been hiding  this body under that damn denim shirt. He was all broad shoulders, muscled arms, defined abs and hip lines that drew her eyes down. Drake had the body of a hulking man; a body chiselled and strengthened through the years. She wanted that body on her. She wanted to feel his strong hands on her skin and him inside her. She wanted him to fuck her hard, leaving her breathless. She wanted him.
As if reading her mind, Drake suspended himself above her and pulled off her top. Camille unbuttoned her jeans and dragged them off, throwing them to the floor to join his discarded shirt. She then unclipped her bra; Drake pulled off her thong.
She was completely bare to him now. Vulnerable to his gaze.
His eyes roamed her body for a long moment, taking her in. ‘Fuck, Montespan..’ he breathed. Camille’s hand slid down his chest and settled on his bulging crotch. Drake unbuckled his belt and pulled off his jeans and boxers, releasing himself.
Camille’s eyes widened when she saw what she was dealing with. ‘Fuck, Walker.’
Drake smirked, that smirk that Camille always said she hated but secretly loved. The smirk that always made her feel a stirring in her core. The smirk that she thought of when she was alone in her room with nothing but her hand and imagination.
I think about you when it’s dark. I think about you when I’m lonely. I think about you when I’m bored. I think about you when I’ve got an itch that needs scratched. I think about how big you might be, I think about you fucking me over and over. I think about you biting my skin, leaving teeth marks. I think about you kissing down my stomach, kissing lower and lower until you reach my secret skin. I think about you when I cum because your face is the image that gets me there. Despite the fact that you treat me like shit, I still think about you. I think about you all the fucking time and that’s why I hate you.
The gentleness was now replaced with urgency. Drake got down between her thighs and Camille let out a gutteral cry as she felt his tongue slide between her folds, lapping deep. Drake couldn’t deny that she tasted delicious. As his tongue worked her, Camille held onto the pillows, panting as he made her feel like she was on fire.
‘Oh God, Drake!’ she cried, arching her back off the bed as she felt herself getting close. Drake continued to twist his tongue and he reached out to cup her breast, squeezing and kneading as he did so.
It was like he knew her body so well. He knew what she would like before she did. She liked how his hands spanned her hips, his fingernails digging into her skin as he increased his pace. She liked how he groaned against her, enjoying her taste, and she liked how he wasn’t treating her like fine china. He meant business. He was going to make her cum.
His tongue found the spot. Camille’s legs began to shake and pins and needles developed in her feet. He drew black magic from her, like only he could, and his tongue whispered enchanted spells in an ancient language.
‘I’m gonna cum,’ she breathed, ‘I’m gonna- I’m gonna-’
Drake didn’t stop. He became relentless; he wanted her to cum and he wanted to taste all of her. He felt her walls contract and Camille’s body jerked as she let go, screaming his name as he pushed her over the edge.
When she felt like she had returned to her body, she watched him with dark eyes as he slid a finger into her. Drawing it out, he licked his finger and gave her that smirk again. Camille felt the heat in her core rise up again.
‘Fuck me, Walker.’
‘I was going to.’
‘Fuck me now.’
‘Impatient much?’ he joked. Camille rolled her eyes and pulled him down on top of her. Drake placed his elbows on either side of her head and as he kissed her neck, she felt him touch her entrance. She let out a harsh gasp.
Drake closed his eyes as he felt her walls around him. She was so tight; he loved it. He began to move his hips and she followed, both moving in unison. She wrapped her legs around his waist and dug her fingernails into his muscled back, drawing blood. Nothing he wasn’t used to; he had been scratched many times by the women he fucked. Some had left scars that had soon faded to silver, wounds from battles that took place in his own bed.
‘You smell so much of fucking coconut,’ he growled in her ear.
‘You fucking love it,’ she whispered back, her tongue darting out to lick his ear. Drake let out a groan and drove deeper into her, making her cry out his name. He reached out to hold her arms above her head, pinning her in place as he fucked her. This was primal. He felt like his body had taken over and was laying waste to her. He was ravaging her body and he loved it. She loved it.
‘Fuck me harder!’ she shouted, her eyes closed as she focused on how he felt. Drake didn’t need telling twice; he thrust harder, making her cries more frequent and increasing in volume.
Drake loved a screamer.
He wondered if he could make her scream louder. Setting himself the challenge, he pulled her up so she was straddling his lap. Camille wound her legs around him, unfazed by the change in position and moved her hips, grinding hard.
‘Holy fuck, Camille..’ he breathed, biting her shoulder gently. Camille closed her eyes, smiling.
Camille loved a biter.
‘I’m gonna make you cum,’ he whispered in her ear, his breath tickling her neck. ‘I’m gonna make you cum so hard, you forget your name. You forget everything around you except me.’
Camille groaned at his words and rode him quicker. She wanted him to make her cum.
Drake picked her up, still inside her, and got off the bed. Still kissing hungrily, he brought her against the wall and proceeded to fuck the life out of her. That was how it felt to Camille; he was fucking the life out of her and with each heated kiss, he brought her back to life again.
She didn’t care that her back would be bruised the next day. She didn’t care that his smokey scent mixed with whiskey would linger on her skin for days. She didn’t care that she was having sex with Drake Walker or how weird this would be after. She was caught up in the present moment, focusing on everything he was doing to her. He was all she thought about.
As they both fell over the brink, their eyes met. There was no dislike here; no more burning resentment. Just pure, searing honesty. Drake kissed her fiercely, swallowing her voice before she could scream his name.
        *****************************************************************************
Drake let her back down to the ground. Shaking, Camille avoided his gaze as she went to the bathroom to freshen up and gather herself. Drake watched her naked form as she walked away from him; she had a tiny tattoo on the base of her spine, which was something he hadn’t known until now. He knew her intimately now. He knew how she felt around him. He knew how she tasted. He knew how his name sounded on her lips as she screamed it over and over like a battle cry.
He pulled his boxers back on and found his pyjamas.  It was 11pm now and he felt exhausted.
Drake got under the covers on the left hand side.
‘Um.. can you not look when I come out?’ she asked, poking her head out the bathroom door. Drake frowned, confused. ‘But I’ve seen you naked?’
‘I know. That was then. This is now.’
Drake chuckled and closed his eyes. He heard her pad softly around the room and unzip her bag. ‘Oh crap.’
‘What?’ he asked.
‘I’ve packed really inappropriate nightwear,’ she mumbled.
‘No such thing as inappropriate nightwear, Montespan,’ he quipped. He heard her sigh.
‘I packed my slip dress because I figured I’d be sharing with one of the girls. Not you. This is a bit.. revealing.’
‘Montespan, I’m sure its fine,’ he told her, his eyes still closed.
‘I don’t feel comfortable wearing it in front of you.’
Drake sighed. ‘Okay. You want to borrow my shirt?’
‘Your shirt?’
‘Yup. My denim shirt. It’s on the floor. It’ll keep you safe from my prying eyes.’
‘Shurrup, Walker.’
He heard her move. ‘Okay, you can open your eyes now,’ she said a minute later. Drake opened his eyes and swallowed when he saw her.
Camille Montespan looked fucking good in his denim shirt.
‘See?’ he croaked. ‘Safe from my prying eyes.’
Camille blushed and awkwardly moved to the bed and got under the sheets. ‘Thank you for letting me borrow it,’ she murmured, looking into his eyes.
 Drake smiled. ‘No problem.’
He turned off his bedside light, cloaking the room in darkness. Exhausted though he was, he couldn’t stop his mind from thinking through what they had just done. He was relieved when Camille spoke, breaking him out of his thoughts.
‘Do you actually hate me, Drake?’ she asked into the dark.
Drake bit his lip. Honest answer or lie? He decided to go for honesty; he had just fucked her after all.
‘No, I don’t hate you. Not really. I thought I did but I guess I wanted to fuck you more.’
Camille laughed dryly.
‘Do you hate me?’ he asked.
‘I strongly dislike you,’ she admitted. ‘But only because for the past two months, you’ve treated me like dirt. So excuse me for not casting myself down at your feet, begging you to be my friend.’
Drake bit his lip. He was such an asshole. ‘I think about you all the time,’ he told the dark. ‘I shouldn’t but I do. At first, I was confused. It didn’t make sense to me. The more I thought about you, the more I lashed out and treated you like shit.’
‘Kinda like little boys who crush on girls in the playground,’ Camille said. ‘If we were young, you would be pulling my hair and pushing me down by now.’
Drake shrugged. ‘Something like that. I’m emotionally stunted.’
There was a silence. Drake broke it. ‘If you strongly dislike me, why fuck me then?’
Camille turned red; she was glad he couldn’t see her face. ‘I guess I have a crush on you, Drake Walker.’
‘You’re so twisted.’
‘I know. So are you.’
Drake laughed and absentmindedly reached out to play with a tendril of her hair. He wound it around his finger, enjoying the silk of it.
‘You are beautiful, by the way,’ he suddenly said. Camille jumped at the sudden and unexpected compliment.  ‘What?’
He smirked. ‘You are. I’ve always thought so. Your eyes are gorgeous. I could look into them all day.’
Camille didn’t know what to say. Why was he saying these things?
I’m being honest because we’ve just shared the most intimate thing you can do with someone. I’m being honest because we’re in the dark. I’m being honest because if I don’t tell you this shit now, I never will. The harsh light of day brings with it a harsh reality.
‘I love how when I’m an asshole to you, you don’t take it,’ he continued. ‘You don’t stand for my shit and you put me in my place. It’s kinda hot when you throw it back at me.’
Camille giggled nervously. ‘Except for when you called me a cuntsatchel in the car.’
Drake smirked. ‘I’m such a dick, I’m sorry I said that to you.’
‘I don’t care, I’m adding it to my vocabulary,’ she replied and they both descended into giggles. Camille rolled over to face him; they were centimetres apart. Drake could smell the scent of coconut and he leaned into it, inhaling.
‘Did you ever think we’d hook up?’ she asked softly, running her finger down his chest. Drake shook his head.
‘Nah, Montespan. You’re too good for me.’
She frowned. ‘No, I’m not.’
He scoffed and took her hand, running his thumb over her knuckles. He could do these things because they were in the dark. The dark was a safe place. ‘You’re this vibrant, beautiful, intelligent woman. You light up the room. I’m just the useless commoner who everyone says rides on Liam’s coat tails. While you light up rooms, I bring them into darkness. I always have, always will. I will just bring you down.’
Camille shook her head fiercely. ‘I don’t believe that for a second, Drake.’
‘Montespan-’
‘No, Drake!’ she argued, sitting up on her elbow. He could make out her frame, the way her body curved in and out, his denim shirt hiding her body from his prying eyes. ‘You may be an asshole to me but underneath, you are a good guy. You are loyal to Liam. You look out for the underdog. You are true to yourself in every way. You refuse to conform to what court demands and you don’t let yourself get taken in by the glamour and status. You are Drake Walker.’
Drake smiled weakly. ‘Who knew you had such a high opinion of me, Camille?’
She grinned. ‘You just called me Camille.’
‘Yeah. So?’
‘You always call me Montespan.’
Drake sighed. ‘So I don’t get close to you. It’s a defence mechanism. Stupid, I know.’
Camille moved closer to him; he could feel her heartbeat against his chest. ‘I like the way you say my name,’ she murmured softly. Drake blushed and became painfully aware of his growing erection.
‘Camille,’ he said.
She smiled. ‘Say my name again.’
‘Camille.’
Camille rolled so her body was now on his. Straddling him, she kissed him deeply. Drake’s hands went to her hips, holding her close. He then pulled away as if he had just had an electric shock. ‘Why are you kissing me?’
‘Because,’ was all she said.
‘I thought what we had done was over,’ he murmured.
‘Do you want it to be?’
Drake closed his eyes. He couldn’t see her in the dark which was probably for the best. The dark meant he could be honest.
‘Not yet,’ he admitted, his voice low. ‘Not yet.’
He pulled off her slip dress until they were bare skin to bare skin again. As he kissed her chest and she threw her head back, he saw the moon had shone through and illuminated her, casting her in a silver glow. He could see her clearly now and he thought she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life.
   *********************************************************************************
They woke up the next morning to the harsh light of day. Camille’s slip dress was discarded on the floor, as were her underwear, meaning she was naked when she woke up at the same time as Drake. A red flush covered her cheeks when she realised and Drake, remembering her weird prudishness, covered his eyes when she got out of bed.
Drake and Camille didn’t speak one word to each other as they got dressed. They kept their eyes away from each other, looking at anywhere but the other, regardless of how much they wanted to look.
Camille checked her phone. ‘The others are downstairs waiting for us,’ she said quietly. Drake nodded, trying not to dread seeing the rest of the group. Camille shrugged her jacket on and gave Drake a nod. ‘Thanks for letting me have the right hand side of the bed, by the way,’ she said.
Drake shrugged. ‘It’s okay. It didn’t matter to me that much really.’
‘Well, it did to me. I guess I feel... safer on that side. Is that weird?’
‘Probably. But if anyone had come in to kill us, I’d have protected you.’
Camille blinked, surprised. Drake sighed and ran a hand through his hair. ‘Let’s just get downstairs before they start asking if we had hate sex.’
‘We did have hate sex,’ she said, addressing the elephant in the room.
‘I thought you had a crush on me?’ he said, raising his eyebrow.  She looked down at the floor for a moment until she looked back up at him, smiling triumphantly before saying, ‘Well you’re the one who thinks I’m beautiful.’
There was a long silence. Camille shrugged and picked up her bag, walking to the door and holding it open so Drake could follow her. He waited in the hallway as she locked up. When she turned to walk with him down the hall, Drake suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her into him, silencing her startled gasp when their mouths collided. He smelled of leather, sandalwood and a hint of whiskey. When they broke apart, Camille was staring at him, her eyes wide. Drake exhaled. ‘I know I’m gonna want to do that to you the whole time we’re driving, so I thought I’d get it out of the way first.’
**************************************************************************************
Drake drove the group out of the car park. Camille was in the front passenger seat and everytime she ran a hand through her hair, the scent of coconut filled his nostrils.
Maxwell let out a loud yawn. ‘God, I slept terribly last night,’ he said.
‘Same,’ Hana said. ‘I need coffee.’
‘I need a vat of coffee,’ Liam said. ‘Maybe an IV drip of coffee.’
‘Why did you guys not sleep well?’ Camille asked.
‘Hmm,’ Olivia said from the back seat, ‘maybe it was because of the constant bed squeaking and headboard banging coming from your room?’
Camille whipped around to stare at her friends who were pressing their lips together to hold back laughter.
‘Oh god, I’m gonna cum!’ Maxwell squealed. ‘Drake, I’m gonna!’
‘MAXWELL!’ Drake roared, clenching the steering wheel, forcing himself to keep his eyes on the road ahead when really, he wanted to throttle the young Beaumont.
‘Oh my GOD, MONTESPAN!’ Olivia joined in, making her voice low and gruff.
‘Drake, Drake, Drake!’ Hana cried, jumping up and down in her seat.
Camille covered her ears, her face turning red as she listened to the others pretending to be her and Drake.
‘I swear to God, I’m gonna pull this car over..’ Drake warned, keeping his eyes on the road.
‘Fuck me harder!’ Liam shouted, laughing when Camille turned to stare at him with her eyes narrowed.
‘Liam, you should know better, you’re the King!’ she hissed.  He stuck his tongue out at her, accepting a high five from Maxwell.
Drake sighed and looked over at Camille. She looked mortified. He felt a pang in his chest. ‘Guys, fucking stop it,’ he said, his voice steady. ‘You’re embarrassing Camille.’
‘Oh my god, are you defending her?’ Olivia asked. ‘That’s a first. Jesus, you must be a good lay, Camille.’
Camille reached out to gently hit Olivia on the knee. ‘Shut up. And yes, I am.’
Drake chuckled and he looked out the corner of his eye at her. She looked at him and gave him a smile.
‘Tonight?’ he mouthed.
Camille nodded discreetly, giving him a wink. Drake resisted the urge to punch the air.  Camille reached into her bag. ‘Who wants snacks?’
This time, Drake didn’t protest.
