What an exciting time to be a creative. GUAP is an amazing idea and is created for a purpose, a purpose to document and nurture creative people.
“Collaboration is everything”
Even when you don't mean to collaboration is key and people sometimes don't even know when they are doing it.
Marketing tips he gave :
WHO - Target audience
WHAT - Product/service
WHERE - Marketing channel
HOW - brand voice, colors, and assets
Understand your brand identity?. Having my own business I believe in branding and how powerful it can be. Its what clients recognize, its the experience they remember. When they see it they understand the product and ethics behind the business strategy. Personalised print has always been a place I can be creative as well as complete client briefs.

This is for all the creatives

This session taught me a lot about going for your dreams. Even though this was a podcast marketing session I felt like it was a great way to understand how “The Creatives” began and how it started, but doing what you really love drives you to do better.
IDK was the podcast we created.
If I was marketing IDK:
- I would have influencers on my podcast and they would advertise it on their social media
- I would create social media and have regular or even daily interaction with the audience via polls, DM etc
- Go to another creative podcast to promote IDK
- Word of mouth to family and friends

Google Doodle - Halloween Addition
- By Sehaj Rathore
Every occasion the Google Homepage has a doodle to represent the occasion. I love it I always end up learning a dead authors birthday or what time of the year it is. I love that engages with the viewer whether it's with a game or how the graphics are designed to make the person click to learn more.
The “Google Doodle” is always informative, fun and very creative. Sometimes its games or sometimes its graphics designed to represent the day.
I have designed a small selection of “Google doodle” representing Halloween.
Tumblr media
                                                         07.10.18
Tumblr media
I first traced over the Google logo and coloured it black for Halloween.
Tumblr media
I then went on to design a background which was deep and spooky. I did this by layering images.
Tumblr media
Now witches always used to scare me when i was younger so i designed silhouettes of different witches some on broomsticks and bats to stick to the theme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then went on to add my logo and my name so it wouldn't be copyrighted.
All images were designed or sourced by Sehaj Rathore. All designed on Adobe Photoshop.
The finished doodle

This is Gurudwara Karamsar Sikh temple in East London. Everyday Over 200 people are served food, and it's not only Sikhs that are enjoying the temple meal but the Sikh temple feeds anyone from any religion or faith and welcomes the needy and homeless with open arms. Religion leaders are now noticing that there is an increase of no believer visiting the temple to eat, treating them as a food bank while of austerity and economic slump bite.
They say over 6,000 meals are served to non-Sikhs each week and have become a lifeline for the homeless people and overseas students swamped in debt.

We had the pleasure of visiting Linkedin for a masterclass on Content marketing. I felt this workshop was very advanced but help us get some knowledge into marketing whether it's for future careers or for a own business.
Important information:
- Customers make it through 90% of the purchase process before reaching to an advisor

- Educating is only achieved by storytelling, leading the story to the product why the consumer may want to purchase it.
- By doing it as storytelling it adds value to the discovery process
- Social content = Professional mindset: Linkedin is mostly used for jobs or professional use but has now become a platform people trust and are able to put sponsored content to advertise something.
Influential content
 - 63% peers
 -53% Colleagues
 - 45% company/brand
 - 38% influencers
Good content strategy:
 - Be helpful
 - The benefit of the member
 - Inform, productive success
 - tell a story
 - character + goal
 - Be human
Mastery:
- Set goals, objective, metric
- understand the audience
- find the audience on Linkedin
Understanding your audience:
- how they talk
- how they like to be spoken to
- how their decision made
BROADER AUDIENCE  =  HIGHER ENGAGEMENT
Understanding the use of language such as
                                  REGISTER        OR          JOIN
Could change the consumers choice of signing up.

60 is the new 40 !
By Sehaj Rathore
Tumblr media
                                                         01.10.18
Whilst applying for jobs and altering CV and cover letters I still have orders to complete. Making sure I stick to the clients brief and understand what they want from the final product.
How my service differs from others :
- I constantly show update pictures to make sure clients are happy the way the product is shaping.
- Even when the order is complete once it's sent to the printers it's still my responsibility to update clients of the process and if there are any changes.
- send a variety of designs that match the clients brief for them to pick and choose.
- I take a date for when they need the product and make sure I deliver at least 24hours before so they get the product on time (postage issues) and because if they get it early its peace of mind for them as well as me.
JOB COMPLETE !

“My Story” - Aaron Roach Bridgeman
By Sehaj Rathore
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                                         09.10.18
Today's workshop with the amazing Aaron Roach Bridgeman was so inspiring. His story had given us food for thought, are we really doing enough to get into the media industry? Are we networking enough? Are we really thinking about what we want to create?.
It was really interesting seeing where he had started and with little pushes, the right contacts, creativeness and determination made him the man he is today.
I had watched Aaron’s documentary “8 years old and smuggling” which personally I really thought was well researched and well documented. It was very emotional seeing parents and family members see their loved ones go missing but not knowing that they were dealing drugs and the dangers they were in.

Drawing didn't come naturally to me I found it uncomfortable to sit in a public space and draw, but it started feeling normal once I realised I actually enjoyed observing and creating this still image which I could make my own.
Equipment used :
- Pen
- pencil
- Felt marker
- Watercolour
These drawings were drawn during my degree for various projects. I believe that this skill can be used for different projects in advertising and marketing.
Example this is a transferable skill ;
- drawing concepts for clients
- Visual ideas for brainstorming

“Skies the Limit” - By Sehaj Rathore
A series of footage edited to compose our day at The Telegraph and Sky News studio. I titled this video “Skies the limit” as I really felt inspired and really felt that its possible after visiting these two companies. This is my first edited piece and I had to really think about what footage people would want to see and the footage I used was actually documenting our day.

“Be the best at what you do” - Robert Pascoe
By Sehaj Rathore
Tumblr media
                                                        26.10.18
Another inspiring and educational road trip. To be honest I'm not into music at all and really rarely understand the music industry today but our visit to Virgin EMI with general manager Robert Pascoe felt like his life lesson could be used in any career path.
“ You don't need validation from 999 people you don’t really know”
I LOVE INSTAGRAM, for me, it's like another Pinterest platform, which I already love, for me its an inspiration catalogue for all different kinds of things. Having that balance between real life and social life is key and really needs to be thought about. As I want to go into marketing I realise that role might involve social media either for clients or the company.
“Believe in the art and the art will bring you convenience”
Inspiration from #RobertPascoe to believe in me and put myself and my work out there. My business has made me stronger and more confident in producing for real-life clients. Working at school or uni didn't feel real, but now I'm getting real feedback.
“ If you love what you do, you won't work a day in your life”
I love designing and making and producing work as well as working with different clients with different projects and once I start that career path I will also feel like I'm never going to work a day in my life.

A small Japenese food hall, Ichiba, situated at the East entrance on Westfield White city has partnered with famous vegan doughnutiers “Crosstown doughnuts” to start their own line of vegan products. Ichiba has loyal local customers who have agreed that the store provides great tasty products and dishes. Samatha, aged 22, said, “ I always come here for lunch and they're always fully stocked so I take my lunch as well as some stuff to make dinner”.
The store was very clean and had a very methodical layout. The interiors are all wood and feel as if you are sitting in an old marketplace in Japan. Speaking to some other customers who had only just visited the store said “They felt welcomed with the bright lights and welcoming staff but it felt amazing to have open stations where we can see them cook the sushi and Ramen, how unique they actually interact with the customers, unlike other chains.”
This is a small passage for the task we had done yesterday with Yvette Caster. I believe in developing my skills so I wanted to have a shot at writing a snippet of an article that I found.

By Sehaj Rathore
Tumblr media
Designed by Sehaj Rathore on Illustrator and Photoshop
                                                        23.10.18
Having now ventured my small business in the wedding industry, i have furthered developing my skills in designing stickers.
What can stickers be used for?
- Wedding favours
- party bags
- promotional
- Logo/marketing
My client had a very particular design brief and was firm when it came to developing. Mostly with the client, I have creative freedom but for my client, as she had a bad experience with a previous vendor she didn't want her trust to break again. Gaining a clients trust means a lot to me as a small business its what makes my business work and develop further.
I enjoyed working on stickers and kept the client in the loop whilst designing so I made sure I was hitting the brief and got approvals before sending her the designs a month before she even needed them!
I am proud of delivering a great service but also making sure my product quality is up to high standards.

My Perspective
By Sehaj Rathore
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All images were taken by Sehaj Kaur Rathore on an iPhone.
                                                     18.09.2018
Chosen carefully and kept raw these are, five of “My perspective” shots. Experimenting with different light and camera angles and the difficulty of having a stationary subject which could only pose to your directing orders made this challenge very engaging and creative.
The only way to get better is to practise.
What I learnt: I had learnt that to move around and to experiment and not to just shoot the angles that were obvious “Bird’s eye view”. Play around a bit more with the natural lighting we had.
What I can improve on: Not to self-doubt and be a bit more confident in what I view as a good picture.

“Anybody can do it but not everybody can do it amazingly”
Freelancing is not easy Caryn explained in a very informative presentation. I have never thought of doing freelance i like being secure and making sure I know i will be getting a set wage each month.
                                                        The 3 C’s
Competency, connections and confidence are three C’s which a freelancer needs to abide by if they want to succeed. Having started my small business on Instagram with a personalised print service I wish I had known this earlier so I could be more confident going in to set up. However, I am grateful to all the experiences I have had as its made my business it is today.
Understanding how to reach new audiences has always been a weakness of mine as much as I try I always feel it's not happening quick enough but since i have been trying harder and taking bigger orders i feel like word of mouth has really helped shape my business.

Google creative lab - CASE STUDY
By Sehaj Rathore
Combining his love of music, drawing, and coding, Alex Chen creates interactive works that turn chaotic things into something beautiful and charming.

His making process
All images were screenshot from his video on Design Indaba
                                                        14.11.18
Alex Chen loves making things and often combines his interests in music (he plays the viola), drawing and coding to make interactive works, both as part of his job at Google Creative Lab and in his personal capacity.
Chen’s dabbled in a variety of things, some of which he highlighted in his talk at Design Indaba Conference 2013. Fascinated by the possibilities of a simple line on a page, Chen explored how such a line could become a string that one could reach out and pluck. This quest – exploring the sound of a scribble – resulted in interactive works like turning the Google logo and the New York Subway system into a musical instrument!
It’s about taking a visual source that has no inherent musical value to it and drawing music from it, Chen explains. He also showed how he visualised Bach’s cello suites in a project titled baroque.me.
For Chen, working at Google Creative Lab is about making things, be it using code, film or design. He describes it as a “chaotic and inspiring” environment to work in and that's what I want to do.

Model making
By Sehaj Rathore
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I enjoy making models, I find the end result beautiful. Seeing it 3D makes it so much easier to think more creatively. I used a thick card to make a street which was our site. I used a scalpel and my measurements to cut it to size.
How is this a transferable skill?
- It can be used for designing prototypes for clients
- It can be made for the team test and trial
- Seeing it in 3D makes it easier to mess around with and physically change it to come out with different outcomes
