"Psst"
You stopped in your tracks.
Walking the empty main hall of the compound towards where Steve, Scott, Bruce and Nat were conducting a time travel test, the only sound was the echoed thumping of your sneakers against the floor.
Steve advised you to wait it out in the living room until they were done so he knew you'd be safe and sound, then he texted you that they were all done. However, that text came in the middle of a business call, so you told him you'd come down to them when it wrapped up.
So now, here you were, approaching the pull up zone outside and trying to figure out where that noise came from.
"Sunflower!" You heard the loud whisper again.
Knowing that literally everyone here but Steve only ever called you Sugar Cookie, you knew exactly who it was already.
"Where are you?" You giggled, turning around in a complete circle to find him.
Then, he bashfully turned the corner. Arm behind his back, with a cheeky, genuine smile on his face.
"What's gotten into yo-" You asked with a giggle before he fully turned the corner and you saw what he was trying to sneak around. Your laugh turned into a gasp and your jaw happily dropped. "No fucking way!"
He propped his arm up, and attached to it was the red white and blue shield. "Tony just gave it back to me. We made up, it was actually really nice."
You stepped closer to inspect it, "I can't believe I've been with you for this long and I've never seen the shield before!"
Steve laughed at your body language. Your hands were crossed behind your back, and instead of getting even closer, your few steps kept you at a comfortable distance away from it, yet you still leaned forward and squinted your eyes to see all of its details.
"Are you so happy to have it back?" You asked, looking up at him for a brief moment to see his facial expression.
"It's like reuniting with an old friend, feels like no time has passed." His free hand lovingly pat the front of it. You still seemed very timid, and his step forward caused you to take a step back. "Are you... scared of it?"
"What? No." You denied, shaking your head.
As a test he stepped forward again but this time you stayed put. Steve gave you a confused look, unable to gauge your reaction. "You wanna touch it?"
He extended his arm out to you, and you shook your head again. "I can't just touch it!" You exclaimed like he had gone absolute mad.
"Why not?" He asked with a laugh.
"Why not?! I don't even want to breathe too hard near it! That's like an artifact, dude! Are you crazy?!" You explained like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I have lotion on my hands, and it's gonna get all over it."
"Baby, it's made out of the strongest metal on earth." Steve explained, gently grabbing your wrist and placing your palm flat to the front of it. "See? Nice shield!"
"Woaaahhhh, that's so cool." Your face turned from concerned to amazed before you ran your finger around the grooves. Then, you made a cheeky big smile at Steve, "Can I hold it?"
"Wow, quick turn around time" He noted how fast you went from 0 to 100 as he pulled his arm out of the straps.
He instructed you to hold your arm out before sliding it through one strap, and to grip the other in your palm.
"How's she feeling?" Steve asked. "I can make it tighter."
"It feels so cool!" You said giddily.
"Looks even cooler, Baby" His heart melted at the sight of his love holding it.
"What do you think? Should I get me one of these?" You asked.
"I think you need lots of training and a small lump some of money to obtain this much vibrainum, but I believe in you!" He kissed your cheek and started guiding you down the hallway again, right back towards his room.
"Sooooo, how did the test run go?" You asked, walking tall and proud with the shield on your arm.
"Not too great. We accidentally tuned Scott into a baby and an old man. But pay no mind to any of that because Tony is here, and he figured it out. So he's going to build a real time travel machine, oh- and Rocket and Nebula just got here too. Rocket and Bruce are going to go get Thor."
"Steve..."
"What?" He questioned nonchalantly.
"Is Scott back to normal?" You asked. "Why did you just brush over that part?"
"Oh yeah, he's back to Scott-ish age now." He confirmed.
"Okay great." You giggled.
"Woah!" Sounded from behind you.
Admittedly, it scared you at first. You didn't hear any footsteps, and you definitely didn't sense anyone nearing. You jumped, shrieked, and dropped the shield straight into the floor.
Steve laughed and he swiftly bent down to pick it up, and you turned to address the terrifying elephant in the room.
None other than Tony stark. "Sugar cookie stuck around, huh?"
"Nice to see you again, Mr. Stark." You greeted him while puffing out a breath and clutching your chest.
"She's polite." Tony acknowledged, Steve nodded with pride. "Just Tony works."
"Oh, sorry." You apologized for using an incorrect title.
"Rogers, didn't I just tell you to keep that under wraps because I didn't bring enough for everyone?" Tony joked, pointing at the shield.
"What could I say? She just looked so cute holding it" Steve justified.
"She looked even cuter dropping it." Tony joked. Then his eyes met yours. "You really are beautiful by the way, thanks for sticking around. Contrary to popular belief around here, I do like seeing Rogers happy."
"Thank you, Tony. I'm happy to be here." You responded politely, unsure of how to let your guard drop around the billionaire.
"Steve, meeting room in 10. We have a lot of thinking to do." Tony told Steve, then turned to you. "Would it be inappropriate to tell you o could really go for some brownies right now?"
"No, not at all." You shook your head. "I'll get right on it... Do you happen to know if Raccoons can eat chocolate?"
"This isn't about the build-a-bear." Tony shook his head. "Okay, gotta go. Kinda have half the universe counting on me to build a Time Machine."
And just like that, he walked off.
You sighed. "When he says it like that, I guess he really does deserve some brownies."
Steve giggled and leaned down to kiss your cheek. "I'm guessing you're headed off to the store now?"
"Depends. Do the Avengers have any dark cocoa powder handy?"
With his free hand, Steve reached into his back pocket and handed you the keys to his car. "Nobody here is smart enough to know how to bake anything. Of course we don't have cocoa powder."
You laughed at his statement, a little snort passed through. "I just love you so much, Stevie."
"I can tell, nobody would put up with any of this for any other reason." He acknowledged. "I love you too, Baby."
You rocked up on your tippy toes to give him a kiss. "Use your big brain, smarty pants. They need it."
"Oh, and by the way," Steve started, smug look on his face. "If you're holding the shield and you get scared, best practice is to hold it in front of you and not drop it on the floor. It can't really do much for you all the way down there."
"Yeah, yeah" You playfully rolled your eyes.
Over the next few days, Steve watched you connect with the team in ways he wasn't quite sure he's ever had. Honestly, it came quite naturally for you.
If someone was upset, it's like your brain didn't even have to think about what to do. You'd autopilot hugs and comforting words. And if someone needed a break to rest their tired brain, they'd always come to you for some fun conversation. If anyone fell asleep, you were there to throw a blanket over them.
No matter how happy it made him, he reminded you time and time again that you didn't have to stick around if you didn't want to. The conversations they were having were heavy, and he could tell a lot of them took a toll on you regardless of your efforts to not show that they did.
But you knew you wouldn't be able to sleep at night without being here for him. You wanted to make sure he was okay first and foremost, and you knew he couldn't sleep at night if you weren't there. It was a tricky balance, but one you'd do almost anything to keep the scales from tipping.
Steve had warned you not to get too attached to any of the team, he told you realistically how it works. They get along and work well together, but when the mission was done they all went back to their separate lives. He knew you and your sweet as sugar heart, and he wanted to protect it from the reality of the people he surrounded you with.
Perhaps Sam, Bucky and Nat were the exceptions. He always knew they would be there for him no matter what. Oh how he wished you could've met Bucky, he knew the two of you would be like two peas in a pod.
But in the time it took to get the whole team assembled and the machine built, he could tell his advice to you had flown out the window.
You and Nat were just too precious to separate. And Thor; sweet, poor Thor. He was really having a rough time, and you just couldn't help yourself from comforting him. Steve saw Thor bond with you in a way he had never quite seen him bond with anyone before. You made Rocket how very own tray of blondies since he definitely couldn't eat the brownies. He even saw Tony giving you business advice, that spiraled into him giving you opinions on everything about the new bakery you were working tirelessly on. Tony complemented your business model and taste in interior design on multiple occasions, which was a very high compliment.
Two days before they decided the machine was good enough for a test run, Steve decided that's when he would feel most comfortable bringing you home.
Everything in him was screaming to get you to safety, but his heart was screaming to never let you go. So, he decided the day he brought you home he'd spend the night at home with you, then go back the next morning. He knew a little bit of peace away from the craziness would help him go into the mission with a stronger, more rested mind.
Honestly, driving through the neighborhood with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand being held between both of yours, he had never been so sure that this was his home now.
Even in just the relatively short time away, he missed everything about it. Your shared home, the bed, the running trails, the lake view lookout cliffs, and breakfast burritos from the diner.
He even almost missed the feeling of being watched by Georgia's careful eyes every time he simply exited near the view of her living room window.
When the two of you pulled up the driveway, put the car in park and turned off the transmission, he looked over at you. You were lost in thought, staring out of the window with no awareness to your surroundings. Steve felt a little crack in your heart knowing exactly what you were thinking about.
"Baby," he squeezed your hand, grabbing your attention. "You'll see them again, okay?"
You grinned and squeezed his hand right back. "I just want you guys to stay safe, that's all."
"We will be." He nodded. "You have to know that saving the world is the goal but getting home to you is number one priority. We all have too much to lose to put anything on the line."
You leaned over the center console to give him a kiss. "I trust you."
Instead of a response, his eyes were open when you pulled away, staring straight ahead. Instead of asking what he was looking at, you followed his eyes and saw Georgia conveniently out on her porch.
Rather than the perfectly put together version of Georgia everyone knew, she looked... off. Rather than a proper outfit, she was in comfortable clothes. The color in her face looked drained, other than her cheeks which were blushed pink.
This time you weren't so sure she came out to see what the two of you were up to. Especially when she slowly walked towards the railing of her porch and barely made it the few steps it took to get there. Stumbling over her own two feet to grab onto the railing, and even when she wasn't walking, she was slowly swaying like she couldn't even stand up.
"Something's wrong." You mumbled, unsure if it was to yourself or the superhero in the drivers seat.
You could tell he was thinking the same thing as you, and every issue you've ever had with her completely flew out of the window and wasn't even a thought in either of your minds as you both un-clicked your seatbelts and got out of the car as fast as you could.
Your legs carried yourself over to her faster than you even looked both ways to check for cars before crossing the street. Steve's legs were longer, they got him to her first. He walked up her porch stairs two at a time before putting his hand on her shoulder to steady her.
"Are you alright?" He questioned, full of concern.
"I'm sorry, I just haven't been feeling good an-" She started explaining, before noticing you approaching right behind Steve.
"What's wrong, Georgia?" You wanted her to keep going.
"Baby, you know I wouldn't be asking for help if I didn't need it." She told you.
You were even more worried as you could hear shakiness and mumbling in her voice. She could barely separate words on her tongue, the syllables were slurring together.
"It's okay, tell me what's going on." You reassured her, caring a lot more about her well being than anything that's happened between the three of you.
Steve was already three steps ahead of this situation. He was looking around and making a plan in his head, he knew just by looking at her that she was very very sick with something. Just with one hand on her shoulder he could feel the heat radiating off of her yet her arms had visible goosebumps.
"I just have the flu or something, but I can't go- go to the store to get any medicine." She slurred.
Her swaying was getting worse, eyes growing heavier by the moment. Getting increasingly more concerned by the second, Steve had to make a judgment call.
"Baby." Steve got your attention, now with one hand on Georgia's back and another on her upper arm. "Call the paramedics." He mouthed as to not make Georgia more concerned.
You nodded, understanding why he didn't speak it out loud. "I'm going to go grab you a few things from my house, why don't you let Steve take you inside so you can get comfortable okay? I'll be right back."
"Really I'm f-fine. Just need some cold medicine or someth-" She didn't finish her sentence.
"Georgia?" Steve tried getting her to respond, but her eyes closed.
Having already bracing for this, Georgia became unconscious and fell backwards onto Steve, but he caught her gracefully before she even had a chance to come close to the floor.
You pulled out the phone and immediately called for an ambulance as Steve set her down as gently as he possibly could before sitting down next to her and rolling her head to the side.
He was worried with a fever this high she would have a seizure following the loss of consciousness, and while you were on the phone, your big concerned eyes found his calm ones.
You answered all the questions as best you could before the dispatcher told you the paramedics would be there as soon as they could, then you hung up.
Calm as a clam, Steve sat with her with a watchful eye.
"Do you want to stay with her, or do you want to grab me a few things in the meantime?" He asked.
"I'll stay" you nodded, feeling overwhelmed and worried sick.
"Okay, I'll be right back." He nodded, swiftly standing up and jogging across the street.
He came back not even a full minute later with everything he needed to start treatment while waiting for proper medical care.
You watched as he slipped a pillow from the porch swing under her head, then put a cold wet rag on her forehead, and put down a cold water bottle just in case she woke up. Sitting down next to you on the ground, he reached out and let you play with his hand.
"She'll be okay" He explained. "I think she has a really high fever and hasn't been trying to keep it down enough. They'll probably take her and keep her for a few days, but it's an easy fix. Nothing to be worried about."
"How do you know?" You questioned sadly.
"I spent the first 23 years of my life sick as a dog." He grinned emphatically. "I know because I've been here so many times before."
You nodded silently and played with his fingers before a quiet tear slipped down your cheek and you tried your hardest to not alert Steve of your emotions, but he was always far more observant than you ever hoped he would be.
"Hey, baby." Steve pouted. "Talk to me, are you scared?"
"I'm sad." You corrected. "I care about her and love her so much, and I still do even after all this time and everything that's happened. I don't understand why it has to be like this."
"I'm sorry, Honey." Steve pouted. Though unspoken, his apology had a double meaning. I'm sorry it had to be this way, and I'm sorry for being the wedge in the strained relationship.
"I could've been here taking care of her had she just heard me out and opened her heart to you. It never had to be this way. It should've never come to this." You shook your head. "And now I feel guilty that she's alone. I feel like I have everyone and she has no one."
"That's not your fault." Steve reminded you gently. "You aren't the one who decided for any of this to happen."
"I hope she can see that I still love her, and that you're a good man when all of this is said and done because I hate this stupid grudge."
Although Steve still admittedly hated what she did to you, and wanted to be petty and hold onto it for as long as he could, he understood where you were coming from.
It reminded him of his relationship with Tony. There was a long time in which he thought it was past the point of reconciliation, but not all things were impossible, and the love he had for him never went away.
"You have the best heart, and she's lucky to still be loved by you even after all this time" Steve told you, both of you could hear sirens blaring in the distance.
"She has a sister I should call, do you think I should go to the hospital with her?"
"I think you should do whatever will make you feel like you're doing the right thing." Steve advised you. "I know this is tricky, there's no right or wrong answer, but what we already did was the right thing to do. Anything else is above and beyond."
The sirens got too loud to even respond to him, and the paramedics rushed up to to take her and treat her with urgency. But no matter how quickly they worked, a few concerned neighbors still came out to ask you and Steve about what was going on.
Apparently the nice couple two doors down from her had formed a pretty close friendship, and the wife made a pretty mindless decision to get into the back of the ambulance with her with almost no second thought. It did a lot to ease your mind, especially knowing she wasn't as along as you once thought she was.
After calling her sister who also assured you that she was on her way to the hospital, you felt a lot better and decided to stay home and spend time with Steve who would be quite literally traveling through time in just a short day away.
Eventually you dragged your two feet through the front door, Steve closing it and locking it behind you as you kicked off your shoes.
"Straight to the couch, young lady. I don't want to hear any if's, and's, or butt's about it!" Steve joked.
You followed his instructions with giggle and you plopped down right before he did. It wasn't long before he had you cuddled up to him, with the fluffy blanket on top of the two of you.
Face to face, he gently pushed your hair behind your ear before letting his palm warm your cheek.
"Thank you for helping her even though you had no reason to." You spoke quietly. With barely any distance, words didn't need to travel far anyways.
"I always have a reason to. Helping is what I do best."
Non-verbally agreeing with him, you came to terms with your own thoughts. "These next few days are going to be really hard."
"They will be, I don't think there's anyway we can sugar coat that." Steve agreed. "But I believe in our ability to get through hard times together."
"There's no one else I'd rather be by my side."
"Couldn't agree more." He grinned. "Can I add two more codes to the sunflowers?"
"What do you want to add?" You asked.
"I think in case of emergency, we should do 4 blinks." He suggested gently.
"But there's not going to be an emergency." You raised an eyebrow.
"If course there isn't" Steve agreed with you, though you both knew the chance was pretty high. "And on the contrary I think one long blink should signal that I'm okay. I want you to have peace of mind and a quick way to communicate that to you whenever we need it."
"Ooh, I love that one!" You enthused, earning the sweetest smile from your favorite boy.
"I knew you would"
"What do you want to do before you leave in the morning?" You questioned, fully devoted to making him as happy and relaxed as possible.
"You." He stated smugly.
You gasped and your cheeks immediately turned pink before hiding your face into his neck. He laughed as you squealed like a teenage girl, because even after all these years his sexual comments still pulled great reactions out of you. "Naughty!... but I think we can arrange that."
"You're so cute" he giggled, now cradling the back of your head with his hand.
"I'm trying to hide that I'm blushing!"
"Well it's not so secret anymore, is it?"
You lifted your head to glare at him, and sure enough, your cheeks were painted rosy pink. "What else do you want to do?"
"This is fine by me." Steve shrugged. "Just wanna spend time with you."
"You want a breakfast burrito tomorrow morning, don't you?" You narrowed your eyes.
"I want to spend time eating breakfast burritos with you." He reiterated,
"I know how to read in between the lines, Baby." You giggled.
Besides the forefront of your mind being full of concern over Georgia, Steve, and the Avengers, the two of you managed to spend a really nice day away from the chaos.
You slipped in one phone call to make sure Georgia was okay, then the rest of your time was occupied by Steve and Steve only. Long conversations ranging from heavy topics to funny ones that made the two of you laugh so hard you couldn't breathe, to making sweet sweet love that never failed to make you feel so appreciated and your souls interconnected.
And just as important as making you feel loved during sex was to Steve, making sure you felt just as loved after the fact was arguably even higher priority for him. He never could let go of hearing all the ways you were used and manipulated in the past. All he ever wanted was to make a life for you in which you never had to even be worried about feeling that way every again.
Every single year you've been together has been a constant reminder to him that you always felt safe, loved, and the most comfortable version of yourself when he was around. But that didn't mean he would ever stop being as attentive as he could to you. And you loved to return the favor to him as well.
So after the fun came even more fairytale romantic intimacy in the form of a long, hot shower. The two of you washed each others hair, exchanged kisses, sweet words, and his strong hands even gave you a nice relaxing shoulder massage.
One thing he quickly learned is that a baker's shoulders were always tense, always over worked, and most of the time your right shoulder was hurting you. So some shoulder rubs always released mental and physical tension, and it almost always made you sleepy.
That night Steve felt a sense of accomplishment when he successfully lulled you to sleep after being convinced you wouldn't sleep a single wink until the mission was over, Georgia was no longer sick, and everyone was home safe.
But when the two of you cuddled in up in nothing more than a sports bra, some underwear, and your softest blankets, the warmth and comfort of his bare skin and sweet words sent you straight to dreamland without even processing that it was happening.
Not a single thought in your brain could keep you awake when it was full of nothing but thoughts of how much you loved him, and how lucky you were to be loved by the gentle giant.
When his big frame engulfed you like the cutest little teddy bear, your soft and even breathing always knocked him out quickly too. Though the two of you weren't quite married yet, he was a firm believer in the happy wife, happy wife notion.
You woke up the morning of his departure a lot less relaxed than you were last night, and you could tell that was the case for him too considering he was awake, yet quietly hiding away with his face shoved into your chest and the blankets pulled up to his ear.
For as long as the two of you could afford, you played with the short hair on the back of his head, squeezed him tight and peppered gentle kisses to the crown of his skull.
"Good morning, handsome." You spoke quietly, only to be responded with by him shaking his head. You laughed and gave him another kiss knowing he definitely wasn't ready to start the day.
A few more minutes of cuddles later, he finally poked his head and peaked at you through his eyelashes. "G'morning."
"Maybe if we keep sleeping you don't have to leave." You suggested, feeling the mutual dread over the lack of unknown.
"I just tried that, it didn't work." Steve pouted.
Your arms squeezed him as tight as they could for just a few seconds, and he appreciated every second of you trying to love him to death. That was until his phone ringing interrupted the peace.
He groaned in complaint while you reached over to grab it for him. "It's Tony"
"Let it go to voice mail." Steve half joked.
"You want me to send Tony Stark to voice mail?" You raised an eyebrow.
"It helps keep him humble" He rolled into his back, squinting his eyes to hide them from the harsh daylight.
You clicked the answer button and put Steve's phone to your ear. "Hello, Anthony."
"Oh, even lovelier than hearing Rogers' voice in the morning." He commented. "Where is he, by the way?"
"He's really busy right now." You joked with a smile, everyone knew it was bullshit. He was now hiding his eyes in the ditch of his elbow.
"I'm just gonna assume he's pooping. How are you? Happy to be home?"
"I'm great, but I miss you already."
Steve let out a little complaint, he couldn't believe how well you and Tony got along. He should've expected it, you got along with everyone, but there was something about Tony being able to butter you up that just really got under his skin. He poked your ribs, so you put the call on speaker phone.
"Miss you too, Sugar Cookie. I've been meaning to ask you. When are you and Rogers getting married? If he hasn't proposed yet just let me know and I'll pester him about it. I'll even pitch in for a ring, make sure it's real pretty."
"You're so inva-" Steve started.
"Helpful. Thank you." You cut him off.
"That got him here quick!" Tony noted.
"I think the wedding will be sometime next year, but I'll make sure you get a hand delivered invitation."
"Steve? Do you need some money?" Tony asked, earning a laugh from you.
"I'm more than fine, Tony. I have a big boy job." Steve denied.
"Oh! It's actually funny you bring that up because I was talking to a few of your colleagues, they were all thinking we do the whole time heist thing today instead of tomorrow. So if you want to keep your big boy job to buy that rock we were just talking about, you should probably get here like... soon-ish."
"Okay, then I'll be there soon-ish." He agreed.
"How soon is soon and how ish-y is the ish?" Tony asked.
"Well the soon part is the whole flying a jet thing, and the ish is eating a breakfast burrito and getting dressed so give me 2 hours."
"Hey sugar cookie?" Tony called your attention.
"What's up?"
"When this is all done, Team party at the bakery?"
"The doors are always open for you guys." You agreed.
"Great. See you soon. Rogers, see you soon-ish." Tony said before hanging up.
Both of you dragged yourselves out of bed to put some clothes on and eat breakfast together before sending him off.
Outside of the diner you two hovered next to his car, leaning on it, trying to selfishly take every single moment you could. He briefed you on everything that would go down, you soaked up the information, and unfortunately it was time to say goodbye.
"Remember, I'll be gone for a few hours, but for you it'll only be a few minutes. I'll let you know when I get back by holding down the sunflower, okay?"
"Okay. One long glow." You nodded. "You're going to do great, Baby. And by all means, you're fucking time traveling. Enjoy it, but be safe."
"Always." He squeezed your hands. "I've got the most important thing in the whole world right here, nothing else comes before that. Shit, even if I die and they bury me underneath a concrete slab, you best believe I'm climbing my way out and crawling my way home to you"
"First of all, don't say that. Second of all, don't even think that. Third of all, that sounds horrifying. And fourth of all, that's really sweet, thank you." You schooled him with a giggle.
"I just love you that much!" He enthused.
"I love you too." You smiled. "I'd help dig you out, by the way."
"Teamwork makes the dream work." He cupped your cheeks and gave you a kiss. "When you see that I'm back, stay home, alright? We don't know what the world is going to look like when we bring everyone back. I want you to stay safe too."
"Got it" You agreed with a nod, and one more kiss. "You still have your good luck charm?"
"That $20 was the first thing that made it to my new suit." He reassured you.
"Perfect. Go get 'em Soldier."
"Yes ma'am." He followed your orders, opening his car door. "I love you!"
"I love you more."
Upon his departure, you knew you needed to keep yourself busy. So you decided to eat your own pride and bring a bouquet of flowers to the hospital to check up on Georgia and hopefully start the mend of your broken relationship.
She was asleep when you got there, but her sister let you know she was doing well and will be home tomorrow. Not wanting to disrupt, you left the flowers then made your way back to your second home.
The bakery welcomed you in with the smell of fresh baked cookies and a warm waft of air from the ovens that felt like a big hug.
Time always flew by when you became truly focused on running the place and taking care of orders, but it was never enough to completely rid you of the knot in your stomach you were trying so hard to ignore all day long.
Before you knew it, your sunflower lit up with a big long glow as you were adding on final touches to the cake on your turn table. The last one of the day. You send him a little three glow message to acknowledge that he was back safe and that you loved him before wrapping up at the bakery and heading home like he told you too.
The sun was starting its decent as you were getting comfortable at home. You had gotten into pajamas, pulled your hair back into a ponytail, and cleaned the kitchen as you anticipated hearing all the details about Steve's day.
You wondered where exactly he had gone, what year he went to and what happened while he was there. It took a lot to hold back your desperate yearning to call him, you knew he was probably busy and exhausted from the day he had.
The calmness in your heart turned into a brick in your stomach when you got a text, and clicked the notification on your screen.
Steve: Hey baby, Danielle is on her way to our place right now. Please call me when she gets there <3
Danielle was a decorator of yours at the bakery back before the snap. She quickly became a very close friend of yours and Steve's through the years. Though she left the bakery for a corporate job, she was always there for you both when you needed her.
The knowledge of her arrival and him wanting to talk to you after made your heart thump out of your chest and your legs weaken with anxiety. You knew Steve. If there was bad news he couldn't deliver straight to your face, he would never give it to you over phone or text if he knew you were alone.
So sending a trusted and close friend over to you for support and company before laying it on you was definitely what was about to happen.
It was barely even five whole minutes before there was a gentle knock on the door, and you rushed to open if like your life depended on it.
She stood there with a sad, sympathetic look on her face. She was in sweatpants and a shirt much like you, a bag slung on her shoulder. The pout on her lips and big eyes full of dread told you that there was definitely something wrong.
"Dani, what happened?" You didn't even bother saying hello, this was way beyond that. "Steve told me he was okay. He's okay, right?
She stepped inside your house, and quickly set her bag down. "He's fine, I just talked to him. But you need to call him, he will tell you everything."
You sunk into yourself, and Danielle wrapped her arm around you. "Come on, let's get comfortable on the couch."
With hands so shaky and legs so wobbly did just that before you grabbed your phone, and called Steve. It barely even rang once before he picked up.
"Hi, Sunflower." He spoke, you could hear the bad news in his voice before he even said what happened. He sounded sad, his voice hoarse, raspy, and deeper than usual.
"Oh baby." You felt a physical pain in your chest just from him speaking two greeting words to you. It was like you could feel his pain. "What happened? I thought everything was okay?"
"The mission is okay, we got all six of the stones. We're working on getting them in the gauntlet. But, Honey..."
"No. No buts. You always tell me no buts." Your heart cracking more and more by the second.
"I know. I'm so sorry I have to tell you this but Nat, she's gone." He finally got the words out.
"What do you mean she's gone?" You needed him to clarify, pure disbelief and denial racing through your mind.
"We didn't realize the soul stone was only retrievable with a trade. A soul for a soul. She sacrificed herself. I'm so sorry." That's when the tears started. You hurt for yourself, the amount of grief that flooded over you felt immense, but mostly you hurt for Steve. Steve was in a family of four before he met you. Him, Sam, Bucky and Nat. Nat was the only one he had left and now she was gone in an instant. "I know you two were close, and I hope you know how much your friendship meant to her. You really were a light in her life especially recently when things felt so dark. She told me all the time how much she loved you."
"Can't you just go back again? Just get her?" You cried.
"I wish we could." He gently denied, his own tears flowing quietly. "This is irreversible, we would do anything to get her back if we could. You know I would."
"I'm so sorry, Honey. Are you okay?" You questioned feeling so awful for him.
"I'm devastated." He admitted, his voice shook even though he was trying to be strong. "But we still have a job to do. We can't let her have died for nothing."
Understanding the heartbreak and unfathomable amount of pressure this added to his shoulders, all you wanted to do was hug him. "I wish I could be there for you."
"This is awful." Steve cried and laughed at the same time. "I'd do anything just to be with you, yet the only thing that would make me feel worse than having you states away is having you here in the compound. I need you to be safe."
"I know, I know." You understood where he was coming from. "How's everyone handling it?"
"Everyone is upset and not it great spirits, but again, we have to keep going." Steve sighed. "It's been a really long day."
"I could only imagine." You shook your head with a sad sniffle. Half of your sadness was hearing him cry on the phone and not being able to do anything about it.
"We're going to rest up tonight, and finish this damn thing in the morning. I'll be home the very second I can be."
"Okay, but try to take care of yourself in the meantime. You can't be saving the world without saving yourself first." You reminded him.
"Are you going to be okay?" Steve asked you sympathetically.
"Obviously this is devastating, but I'll be fine. You don't have to worry about me."
"I always worry about you." He denied your claim.
"I know you do." He managed to pull a smile out of you. "But don't let that distract you from the bigger goal here."
There was a pause on his end, a sad sniffle, then a sigh. "I'm exhausted."
"It'll be over soon, Baby." You reminded him, but deep down you knew exactly what he meant.
He wasn't sleepy, his body wasn't sore and his mind was alright beyond the obvious, but there were unspoken truths about his life recently that he just couldn't get himself to verbalize.
Steve was exhausted of being Captain America.
You knew that without him even having to say it straight to your face. He told you in little ways, like how every time he left Greenwood to report to duty his feet would drag out of the house and his back would slump. When he was gone away from you, your sunflower would light up so much sometimes you were concerned that whatever was inside of it to make it glow would burn out one day. Then when he got back, the very first thing he would do after greeting you was put all of his tactical gear completely out of sight so he could get it out of his mind.
Just as secretly as he kept his longing for a life where Cap wasn't around anymore, you secretly hoped he was catching on to your subtle reassurance that there was so much more to him than the stars and strips he's worn since he was only 23 years old.
The complexities of his existence never ceased to amaze you, and much like you felt since the moment you found out the cutie next door was a superhero, his job was one of the least important qualities you found in him.
His sensitive heart, compassion, and love for life would always remain regardless of the status of a shield on his arm and a star on his chest.
You didn't need him to be strong, you just needed him to be happy.
Truly, wholly, and undeniably happy.
So when you said it would be over soon, you hoped he understood that you already knew what was to come. All you wanted was to help him make peace with what you already knew.
Steve Rogers always has been and always will be enough.
You were met with more silence. He was completely shut down, and that broke your heart even more. You knew he never used to be like this, he'd tell you all the stories from before the Civil War about how he lived his life bouncing from mission to mission, plucking off one threat at a time all while meeting and losing people along the way without a single glance at what happened behind him.
What broke your heart even more was that you knew he'd wake up tomorrow morning and put on his brave face. Not a single complaint, not a single tear, not a single speck of anything considered to be a lack of bravery would slip past him just so everyone on the team would have someone to look to.
"I miss this morning." He admitted, breaking down as a deep inner thought slipped passed his composure.
"There's going to be another morning tomorrow." You wiped tears off your cheeks, Danielle wrapped her arms around you and hugged you tight."But then there will be another morning the day after tomorrow, and it'll only get a little better every day after that. You remind me of that all of the time."
"Even just hearing your voice has made me feel infinitely better."
"Call me whenever you need to, okay? Even if it's in the middle of the night I'll be here for you." You reminded him.
"Same goes to you, you know that."
"Of course I do. But you seem tired, I think you should get some well deserved rest."
As you said that, he allowed your words to be true in his mind. He did deserve rest.
"If all goes well, I'll see you tomorrow."
"It's going to be just fine, so I will see you tomorrow."
"I'll dream of you until then." Steve said, making your tears fall just a little harder because you still didn't know what you did to deserve to be loved the way he loved you. "I love you, Sunflower."
"Goodnight, Honey. I love you too."
When the line disconnected, you accepted the big hug your best friend wrapped you up in and all the way in New York Steve dug his face into his pillow, and clutched the pillow you slept on not even a full 48 hours ago to his chest.
Regardless of the distance, you both hoped that the result of tomorrow promised a better future and a long, happy life chalk full of everyone you loved.
If anyone could do that for you, and the whole universe, it was Steve Rogers. He was more than enough.

MCYT incorrect quotes my beloved:
Tango: WHO ATE MY BREAD?!
Tango: I'M GOING TO K-
Zedaph: I did?
Tango: Kiss you and buy some more, you haven't been eating anything today Zedaph.
*walking away*
Zedaph:
Zedaph: He's gone Impulse.
Impulse, coming out the closet with bread stuffed in his mouth: Twankh uh!
Jimmy: I can do anything I put my mind to. I once figured out Joey's phone number just by choosing random numbers.
Lizzie: Joel likes to win. When he was 8, a little Club Scout friend of his bragged that they could sell the most cookies.
Lizzie: Damned if Joel didn't walk the neighborhood till he got blisters on his feet, and won by 10 boxes.
Lizzie: Best part is, Joel wasn't even a Club Scout.
BDubs: What's the straightest thing you've ever done?
Etho: *sighs*
Etho: I killed a man.
Doc: You either buckle down and do your work or you'll end up at McDonalds.
BDubs: We're going to McDonalds if I don't do my work?
Doc: NO-
Doc: So are you gonna explain how the hell you crashed my car?
Grian: Well we were driving and there was a deer in the road, so I said "Scar, deer!"
Doc: ...And what did Scar do?
Grian: ...He said "Yes, Honey?"
Scott: I don't want to fight you!
Jimmy: I wouldn't want you to fight me either!
Teacher: Your child was in a fight.
Scar: Oh no, that's terrible!
Grian: Did they win?
Shelby: So, are you two friends?
Joey: Yes.
Katherine: No.
Jimmy: I'm in love with you.
Scott: We called off the prank war last night at midnight, dork.
Jimmy: I know.
Scott: Ah. Okay. Um. Cool. Neat. Very cool. Cool. Cool. Coolcoolcool-
Oli: Can I offer you a nice stick in this trying time?
Shelby: Ooh, somebody has a crush
Jimmy: Pfft, I don't have a crush on Scott I just think he's cool, it's not like I stay up at night thinking about him.
*Later that night*
Jimmy, very much awake: Uh oh.
Jimmy: Where is Tango?
Etho: I'll do you one better, who is Tango??
Scott: Here's a better question, why is Tango?
Xisuma: Y'know, maybe things aren't so bad. I'm here. I got the nice ocean breeze. Just alone with my thoughts.
Grian: Hey, Xisuma.
Xisuma: GODDAMNIT!
Mumbo: Did it hurt when you fell-
Grian: From heaven? Wow, I didn't think you were such a flirt-
Mumbo: No, I meant when you fell down the stairs.
Grian: ...
Mumbo: You just laid there for 15 minutes.
Tango: What's your biggest fear?
Mumbo: That I'll never be good enough for anyone.
Scar: Everyone hates me and talks about me behind my back.
Grian: Zombies.
Mumbo: ...
Scar: ...
Grian: BUT they can open doors.
BDubs, rushing into the room: It's terrible, just terrible! I am so upset!
Impulse: BDubs, honey, sit down! Sweetheart, tell us all about it. Etho, would you get BDubs some water?
Etho: What is he gonna do with water? Has water ever made you feel better when you were upset? Have you ever heard anyone say, "Thank God, the water's here!"?
Tango: Jimmy likes to say 'you can be part of the problem or part of the solution,' but I happen to believe you can be both.
Ren: Where are you going?
Etho: Hell, eventually.
Lizzie: *Talking to Joel* Oh, hi. I didn't see you there. Welcome to my abode. I'm glad you could join me.
FWhip: But this is my abode.
Lizzie: ...
Lizzie: Welcome to my abode, I'm so happy to have you, guest.
Impulse: I think we can all agree I'm the ten amongst these threes.
Jimmy, very tired: Can I sleep in your bed?
Scott: *half asleep* Jimmy, this is a queen-sized bed. That means it's for *gestures vaguely to himself* queens.
BigB: Hey Cleo, can you give me the opposite of these words?
BigB: Always, Coming, From, Take, Me, Down.
Cleo: Never, Going, To, Give, You-
Cleo: The satisfaction.
Martyn: The next time I open up to someone, it'll be my autopsy.
Martyn: Hey, do you know the password to Cleo's computer?
Scott: Screw you, Martyn.
Martyn: Hey!!
Scott: No, you misunderstood, the password is "screwyouMartyn".
Martyn: Oh, no numbers? Not very safe.
Pearl: Real life should have a search function, or something.
Pearl: I need my socks.
FWhip: So you like cats?
Sausage: Yeah.
FWhip: *tries to impress him by slowly pushing a glass off the table*
FWhip: My life is a little too much panic and not enough disco.
Scott: My life is a little too much fall and not enough boy.
Jimmy: My life is a little too much chemical and not enough romance.
Oli: My life is a little too much imagination and not nearly enough dragons.
Doc, about Etho: He's speaking some kind of French.
Ren: Let me handle it. I speak Spanish. It's the same thing.
Impulse: You call yourself my soulmate, but where were you when my meme only had four likes?
Tango: Making four accounts.
Impulse, tearing up: Really...?
Jimmy: *yawns*
Scott: Yeah, being that pretty must be tiring.
Jimmy: Then you must be exhuasted.
Joey: Will you two shut up? Some of us are lonely.
Scar, to Mumbo: If BDubs doesn't say "I'm King of the world" within an hour on that boat, I will give you my next pay check.
BDubs, within 5 minutes of getting on the boat: I'M KING OF THE WORLD!!!
Lizzie: Joel annoyed me today so I told him that I can't wait to see what he has planned for our special day tomorrow.
Gem: There is nothing special about tomorrow.
Lizzie: But there is something special about watching the color leave his face as panic takes over.

This is all @flyboytracy 's fault with their magic gif making skills prompting fic ideas.
However I have to apologise in advance cos this fic comes with a tissue warning. Also, it was supposed to be Allie-focussed and it is, but big brother Scotty plays a very big part in this, and is most of the source of the need for tissues. I'm sorry, Scotty!
Many, many thanks to @katblu42 and @onereyofstarlight for the read throughs and the listening as I wibbled about the ending (I wrote more, but cut it). Also for the tissues needed.
So a heavy angst warning on this for a very upset pair of brothers.
Canon did it, not me! Honest!
-o-o-o-
It was dark and a little scary.
Alan peered out of the elevator into the hangars. The massive caves were quiet except for the distant sounds of the ocean and the wind whistling over the Island.
He wasn’t supposed to be here.
Dad said he wasn’t to enter the hangars alone as there were too many things that could hurt him. He was too little. One day, yes, but not until he was grown up.
He had, of course, been in here with an older brother or Dad. Brains had even let him in once when Scotty had been hurt, and had shown him what had happened and how he was going to stop it from happening again.
Alan suspected Virgil had asked the engineer to do it because Alan had been scared for his big brother. But the reasoning didn’t matter right at this moment.
What mattered was that he knew how to get aboard Thunderbird One.
An unseen breeze tickled his hair.
The residential elevator opened at the top of the stairs leading down to Thunderbird One’s launch bay. As Alan moved, the gaping cavern lit up automatically, lighting up all the machinery and the stairs he was creeping down.
He needed to do this.
His brothers weren’t so he would.
They spent more time arguing than anything else. Virgil in particular. At least Scotty said he wanted to go. Virgil wouldn’t let him.
The fights were loud.
And hurt.
Alan was sick of crying.
He needed to do something.
Thunderbird One glinted ever so silver and red in the overhead lights. She was massive.
And so…wow.
Alan’s heart thudded in his chest.
International Rescue was shut down. Had been ever since…it happened. His brothers had taken out their ‘birds. Many, many times.
But not anymore.
Alan’s hand seemed small on the pilot delivery system. Brains had hit it while talking a mile a minute, explaining that this was a maintenance delivery system and not the main one Scott used. Something about safety and his brother’s death-defying feats. In any case, the wide platform that assembled at the edge of the chasm below had all the guard rails an eleven-year-old could need.
Thank goodness. Brains had demonstrated how Scotty made it to his pilot chair and it looked terrifying.
Fun but terrifying.
He wasn’t as tall as Brains…yet…he had plans in that area, but he was able to reach the controls and direct the delivery platform over to the huge rocket.
A press of a button and her doors slid open.
Because this was maintenance, the pilot’s chair did not deploy and Alan was able to step off the platform and into One’s cockpit.
He stared at the chair for a moment. The quilted red silicone leather had dips where his big brother sat.
Alan adored Scott. He was his biggest brother and so cool. He’d been in the Air Force and now he flew the fastest plane on the planet and saved lives.
Well, he did until…
Alan blinked. This is where Scotty had been sitting.
A swallow and Alan climbed up. Scott wasn’t sitting here now. Hadn’t been for days.
So now Alan was going to sit here and take One and do what needed to be done.
He thumbed the switch that closed the cockpit doors.
“Alan?”
He jumped as Johnny flickered up blue in front of him.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m going out to find Daddy.” Alan straightened in the pilot’s seat and reached for the lever to activate launch.
His older brother hovered before him with wide eyes. “Alan-“
“I’m doing this, Johnny.”
“I can’t let you, Alan.” There was no appended ‘you’re not old enough’ but it was there anyway.
“You can’t stop me!” He activated the launch procedure. He could do this. He knew enough and he was old enough.
Nothing happened.
No.
“I’m sorry, Alan.”
His brother’s voice was calm and kind but it was the trigger point, nonetheless.
“Why?!”
“Allie, -“
“No one is out looking for him! Not you, not Virgil, not even Scotty!”
“Al-“
“You’re not even down here helping!”
“Alan, we are looking!”
“Not enough! We need to do more!” He kicked his feet against the base of the chair. “Let me go!”
The pilot doors suddenly slid open. Scott was standing there, pale, hair askew, in his pyjames.
The chasm loomed below.
“No! We need to keep searching! We need to find Dad!”
Scott leapt into the cockpit, the doors sliding closed immediately behind him. “Allie!”
The Scott-the-hero warred with current Scott-the-sick standing in front of him. He was no longer recognisable. Gone was the shine of confidence, laughter, the big brother he knew and loved.
What remained was a battered mess that argued and yelled.
“I’m going out to look for Daddy.”
“No, you’re not.” Scott’s voice was parched.
“Yes, I am. Why aren’t you?”
And to his horror, there was suddenly tears in Scott’s eyes. “Because he isn’t out there, Allie.”
“He is, you said he is!” He’d heard it yelled at Virgil so many times. It had to be true.
The chair made him taller than his big brother. The partition that made up the floor Scott was standing on slid down when the rocket was in flight and became the back wall of the cabin. Alan had seen it happen when Scotty took him flying.
Old Scotty.
Not new Scotty.
His brother didn’t say anything, but a tear did run down one cheek as he climbed up the chair.
“No! We have to go out!” Alan fought off his big brother, but Scott was strong and determined.
His brother scooped him out of the chair and hugged him within an inch of his life. “I’m sorry, Allie. I’m so sorry.”
“We have to find him.” It was muffled into cotton pyjamas. Anger slipped into grief. “We have to.”
“I know.” Scott was turning, the sound of the cockpit doors opening again, the dip as his brother stepped onto the maintenance platform.
Alan was still being crushed, but found himself clinging anyway.
The cool wind of the hangars dried tears he didn’t know he was crying.
Once the platform reached the other side of the chasm, both Virgil and Grandma were there with worried words, hugs and touches.
Scott didn’t quite let him go, and it was his big brother who carried him back to his rooms and sat down with him on Alan’s bed, still holding him close.
Alan leant into his brother. “We need to find him.”
“I know.”
“We need to keep looking.”
“We-“ Scott’s voice broke. He didn’t continue.
“It’s what Daddy would do.”
Scott shook in his arms, somehow hugging him even tighter. A small, strangled sound whispered through Alan’s hair.
He tried to pull away, but Scott wouldn’t let go, holding onto Alan as if his life depended on it.
It was a long moment before his big brother spoke, his voice hoarse.
“Yes, he would, Allie. He would.”

Saturday rolled around and you were glad the week was almost over, excited for a lie in on Sunday. Scott, Diane and the kids had come into the shop, begging you to have your lunch with them.
El and Max had shoved you in their direction, with the promise that they were fine and would come and get you if it was urgent. You were lucky to have those girls.
Sat with Matty cuddled up to your side, Scott spoke, “So Eddie seems nice.”
“He really does,” Diane agreed.
“He is. He’s lovely. I know on the exterior he looks like the stereotypical scary metalhead, but he’s a sweetheart.”
“And he’s nice to you?” Your brother asked.
“He’s been nothing but, he’s a lovely person Scott I promise you.” The man nodded, taking your answer as the truth. If you said he was a good man, he’d believe you.
“So who are these other friends you’ve made? Not replacing me are you?” Diane asked, teasingly. You huffed a laugh, “Never, could I replace you. The girls that work here Max and El, and then their friends. Oh and Jonathan and Steve, all of their friends.”
“Jonathan Byers?” Scott questioned.
“Mhm, that’s the one.”
“How’s he doing?”
“Great, he’s a photographer. Has a girlfriend, she’s called Nancy.”
“How’s that brother of his, Will?”
“He’s as lovely as he was when he was a baby, he’s actually good friends with Max, and he’s Els brother.”
After chatting a little more, you had to get back to work. Walking past the table, you slid two cupcakes in front of Jenny and Matt. The pair squealed, happily biting into the thick icing.
The bell above the door rang and in stepped your favourite person. A smile on his face, “Hey.”
“Hi, coffee?”
“Please.”
“What’s got you so smiley gorgeous?”
“Well apart from seeing my favourite girl, works been great today.”
“Good I’m glad,” you smiled back at him, “Scott’s over there with Di and the kids.” You motioned to the tables, Jenny was now covered in icing.
“I’ll just go and say hi,” he told you, to which you nodded. Shaking your brothers hand, Eddie got down low to talk to the kids. Jenny reached out for his curls with her sticky hands, Diane pulling them away. The man laughed, as she told her mom, “But mommy they pretty!”
“Yes Honey I know, but you’ll get them all sticky.” Grabbing a tissue, she wiped her daughters hand. “There you go, now you can touch,” Eddie said, taking her small hand into his hair.
The small girl laughed loudly, finding her curls to be one of the most interesting things she’d ever seen. With Eddies coffee in your hand, you headed over, ruffling Matts hair as you did.
“What are you up too?” you asked the small boy. He was colouring a picture, “It’s a project for school, have to show some of our favourite things for a big collage.”
“That’s cool bud, what are you colouring?”
“Dinosaur, it’s a stegosaurs.”
“That’s really cool, you’ll have to show me when it’s finished.”
Eddie pried little hands from his hair, standing up next to you. “Here you go,” you smiled, handing him his drink. “Thanks Sweetheart. It was lovely seeing you all again, when is it you leave?”
“Tomorrow, back to work on Monday and little man’s got school,” Scott explained. “Well hopefully I’ll see you before you leave, I have to get back to work now though.”
He leaned down to kiss your cheek, “I’ll see you later, and tomorrow, maybe we can hang out,” he told you. “Okay,” you smiled, cheeks flushing. “It was nice to see you all.”
“You too,” Scott smiled, oh god, here comes the teasing. Eddie waved goodbye and was on his way. “Wow, that was,” your brother began, “Adorable!”Diane finished.
“I have to go back to work, so you need anything?”
“No Sweetheart not a thing,” the woman smirked. “Yep, I’m going back to work now.”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
After work the five of you had decided to head to the park, the kids bundled up as the cool November air made their cheeks rosy.
Diane was pushing Jenny on the swing as Matt climbed up on to the slide.
“Have you told him yet?” Scott asked from beside you. “Told him what?”
“About mom and dad, about what happened.”
“It hasn’t come up.”
“You need to tell him.”
“Why does it matter? We barely speak about them.”
“They died, we’re both still dealing with that.” You sighed, you’d both been young when your parents had passed, being brought up by your grandparents.
Your aunt Callie was your grandmothers sister, she saw a lot of her and your mother in you. It was a strange way to grow up, but you’d live longer without them than you did with them.
“I’ll tell him,” you said simply, “But only when I want too, I’d don’t want you making comments that forces me too.”
“Okay. I just … it caused some issues with me and Di. I see the way you look at each other, I don’t want you to go through that.”
That was true, he hadn’t told Diane until a couple years in when they argued. She had done something that upset Scott and she didn’t understand why.
“I get it Scott, I just … I don’t remember them much, I hate that it’s such an issue.”
“Me too, as soon as you get it out of the way, the sooner it’s done.”
“Daddy! Look!” Jenny squealed as she was swinging. “Look at you! Going so high,” he laughed. You looked down feeling a tug on your hand. “Hey bud, you okay?”
“Will you push me?” he asked.
“Sure thing!” You went hand in hand, Matt climbed up on the swing, laughing loudly when you pushed him. You’d missed this, so so much.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“I am going to miss you so much,” you said, giving your nephew a big squeeze, “But I promise I will see you soon.” Turing to Jenny you gave her a kiss on the head, “I’ll miss you munchkin.”
“Miss you.”
Standing up you hugged Scott and Diane, “Drive safe,” you said, “and call me when you get back.”
“We will, we’ll see you soon okay?” Di smiled, kissing your cheek. “Let us know about Christmas,” your brother spoke.
“I will.”
“It was great meeting you guys, hopefully I’ll see you all again soon,” Eddie said from beside you. Diane kissed his cheek, picking up Jenny who reached out for Eddies hair once more. He laughed, saying goodbye to the kids and your brother.
“Take care,” Scott said to you, “Love you.”
“Love you too.” The four of them climbed in their car, Eddie pulled you close. Sighing into his chest you hugged him, already missing them.
Leaning down to kiss your head he whispered, “You’ll see them soon, I promise.”
“I know, it just hurts my heart to watch them go.”
“I know Sweetheart,” he rubbed his hands up and down your back.
Once their car had gone from the street, you spoke, “Let’s go in, it’s cold out here.” Pulling Eddie by the hand, you wandered inside, you had to tell him. You didn’t want secrets, not after what he’d so bravely told you.
“You alright?” he asked softly, wrapping his arms around your waist so he could pull your back to rest against his chest. “Yeah, they all seemed to like you a lot, especially Jenny.”
“Yeah she’s a sweetheart,” he chuckled.
“Hey!”
“What?” he asked.
“That’s me!”
“Don’t get jealous on me, you’re my only sweetheart I promise,” he kissed the top of your head.
Turning in his hold, you looked up at him, “Can I talk to you about something?” you asked. “Sure, what’s up?”
“I just … Scott brought something up and he said about me telling you and he’s right it’d be shitty if I didn’t tell you.”
“Hey, you can tell me as much or as little as you want too. It works both ways,” he said softly, leading you to the couch.
“I wanted to talk to you about my parents. About why they’re not around,” you said.
“Okay,” he said, encouraging you to carry on. “They um … they passed when I was young. A-a drunk driver hit their car, so uh me and Scott were raised by our gran and grandpa.
“I just .. I wanted you to know. I try not to think about it, I was only 4 and Scott was 7, I don’t remember much about them. Just that they were kind, that was something my gran wanted me and Scott to keep, our moms kindness.”
Rubbing your face with your hands, Eddie wrapped you up into a cuddle. “Thank you for telling me that. I think they’d both be extremely proud, of you and of Scott,” he placed a kiss on your head.
“You think so?”
“I know so, and I do understand, how strange it is to loose your parents. My dad got sent to prison and my mom passed, it’s why I grew up with Wayne.”
“Oh Eddie I’m sorry.”
“Sweetheart it’s okay, we were raised by great people and we make them proud every day. Thank you for trusting me.”
“Thank you for telling me too, I don’t want us to have secrets.”
“So we won’t, we’ll tell each other when we’re ready, so long as we tell, does that sound okay?” You hummed, nodding into his chest and letting him hold you.
“You spoke to me about them before you know?”
“I did?”
“Steve’s Halloween party, you were scared I had been drinking, refused to get in the car.”
You scrunched your face, trying to remember.

Eddies arm was around your waist, “Just don’t let Robin pour anymore drinks,” he said to Steve. “Yeah okay I won’t, you be careful.”
“Will do.”
Walking down the path, Eddie spoke once more, “Where are your keys Sweetheart.”
“They’re in my purse,” you fiddled with bag, opening it up and shaking the key.
“Great,” he said, taking them from your hand and going towards your car. It’d save you from picking it up in the morning. “W-wait Eddie you can’t drive!”
“Why not?”
“You’re drunk!”
“Sweetheart I’ve been drinking soda all night, I assumed I’d be driving someone home.”
“B-but I saw you! You had my drink!”
“Just a sip.”
“You can’t drive! It’s not safe!” you panicked, tears forming in your eyes. “Woah, it’s okay. It’s alright, if you don’t want me to drive I can … I can call Wayne and he can pick us up. Or we can crash here.”
You sniffled, “You can’t drink drive, we could hurt someone. You could kill someone.”
“Sweetheart what’s this about?” he asked, holding your face gently.
“He killed my parents, he was so off his head. He lived, only got a few-a few years! They died because he’d been drunk.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry that happened to them. I promise you I’m not drunk okay, I would never lie to you. If you don’t want me to drive I won’t.”
Sighing you looked up at him, looking for any signs he was buzzed. “I trust you, but you have to promise me! You’ll never drive when you’re drunk!”
“I promise you.”

“I remember,” you said, meeting Eddies eyes. “I didn’t want to bring it up until you were ready to tell me sober,” he explained.
“Thank you for doing that for me.”
“Sweetheart I would do anything for you. I uh I ..” he stuttered.
“You what?” you asked wide eyed.
“I like you a whole lot,” he smiled, kissing your cheek. “I like you too.”
More than like.

Hi there love! 💜
We’re finally on this time of the year aren’t we ? I’m so excited, I love this special date so much and I absolutely love that I get to write your request for this too! ❤️
Enjoy <33
****
Warnings : Halloween party, danced, costumes, pet names, kisses, fluff
Pairings : Daddies!Stucky ; Daddy!Bucky x Papa!Steve x Little!Reader
Summary : Halloween party at the tower
****
Halloween.
One of your favourite date of the year, with your birthday and Christmas of course. You loved the fact that you can dressed up like you want without being judge. You love that you can be silly with a costume without caring about others.
You also love watching and admiring the costumes of people around you or the decorations people add to their house for this particularly day. The same colors always come back but strangely, nobody get tired of them.
But what you love the most is the party Tony always throw for special occasions. You spend the funniest night ever there with everyone and it feels like an eternity to wait each year a year.
You couldn’t stop asking yourself what your friends will wear for the party. One year Tony dressed up like Hulk just to annoy Bruce so the year after Bruce dressed up like Iron man to annoy Tony too.
Even tho you don’t understand why it annoyed them that much that the other is dressing like him you still found it very funny to watch.
What you don’t know is that they did it on purpose because they saw your smile and heard your laughters and the other’s too when it started so they made it a bigger deal to put on a little show.
Last year you had dressed up in your Daddies, you wore blue clothes with a grey arm and a little sheld that had the star of your Daddy in the middle. You wore the mask of your Daddy and the blue thing your Papa has on his head whenever he is Captain America. You never remember how he calls it tho.
But for this year you wanted to have a matching costume with your Daddies. You wanted to be just like them and how could they not agree ?
You wanted to wear something special, something that meant things to your Daddies. You hadn’t experienced the war but your Daddies did and even tho the end of it was traumatising for them, it was still a special period for them. After all, it was the time they fell in love with each others.
So when you woke up one week before the party, you knew what you will wear. You walked to your Daddies’s room and exposed your wonderful idea.
For the rest of the week, you all had worked on your costumes and it was the funniest week you had since a long time. You couldn’t stop playing and marbling each others with the glue or the strass.
‘’Wow look what fo we have here’’ Scott exclames when you enter the living room. As usual, you were late. You couldn’t find your favorite shoes, your Papa couldn’t find his keys and your Daddy just laughed and watched tou from the couch without helping. So of course you were late.
You laugh at Scott’s costume. He’s dressed up like Harry Styles from the time he was in the group One Direction. You thought they all would dressed up in something scary but apparently you weren’t the only one who had a soft costume.
‘’Are you mocking my costume ?’’ He arches an eyebrow at you. You shake your head while trying to swallow your laughters but failed ‘’yea well at least we can tell what I am. You are just a bowl of green, what are you ? An apple ?’´ he scoffs and crosses his arms against his chest
You narrow your eyes at him ‘’I’m a soldier’’ you defend. He breaks into a smile and learns forward ‘’i know pretty girl. I’ll just messing with you. I really love your costume’’ he winks.
You smile and giggle a little.
‘’Want something to drink, babyd- I mean sergeant’’ your Daddy says with a silly grin. You straight your back and turn around ‘’I want a cola, soldier’’ you answer
‘’Sorry sergeant, we can’t autorise you to drink that’s he answers. Steve watches with a smile at the two of you being postured like real soldiers.
Your straight face immediately fall and you pour ‘’oh please Daddy’’ you walk toward him and climb in his arms, all seriousness forgotten ‘’jus for tonight’’ you give him your most beautiful eyes you could do- even you, are about the break even tho it’s not for you the pouty face
Bucky’s eyes shift to Steve as he tries to not smile at how cute you are. Steve shrugs and Bucky lets out a sigh ‘’you can have half of a full cup. But that’s only because you’re my superior and I don’t want to get fired’’ he jokes on the last part.
Even tho it’s not much, you let out a loud yell of joy and run in the kitchen were you met Natasha and Wanda. Natasha is a beautiful black cat and Wanda is dressing in something weird, you don’t know what is it and you don’t want to hurt her by asking.
So when she asked you if you like her costume you put on your prettier smile and nod your head.
‘’What do you need from her, sweetie pie ?’’ Natasha asks as she finishes preparing some things to eat.
‘’Daddy said that I could have half of a full cup or cola for tonight’’ you proudly and happily say. She chuckles softly and served you your drink ‘’here you go’’
‘’Thank youuu’’ you smile as the cola is now on your hands.
‘’everyone is in the living room, you can go, we’ll be there in a bit’’ Wanda kisses your temple before focusing back on her food.
Once you reach the living room you see everyone on the couches, as expected. You immediately go were your Daddies are and wiggle your little butt in between them.
You take your time to drink your cup so you can enjoying it as you listen to what people around you are saying. Your Papa’s hand is rest on your thigh as he’s in deep conversation with Thor.
You had spend a really good time at this party. You ate all good things that were prepared for dinner, everything at the form of things from Halloween so you enjoyed it a lot more.
When people asked you about your costume you were proud to say that you had matching costume with your Daddies. You said it to everyone who smiled or even looked at your costume, even the people you didn’t know.
You also danced with your Daddies. You were in your Daddy’s arms and danced with him rapid dance and when it was slow and soft you danced with your Papa, forehead against forehead and his hand in yours as he turns you two around.
It was such a special night.
You are already excited for the next year’s party

The night was alive. The air was so thick and smokey. The music thrummed straight through the bodies surrounding you and into your eardrums. It mixed with a variety of conversations, half of them were high-induced philosophies and theories, while the other half were drunken confessions. Sweat flicked through the air with the start of every dance move. Tony Stark’s parties, always a rager, no matter what the occasion.
You shimmied off the dance floor, avoiding the hormone monsters that are college students grinding on one another. You were desperate for some sort of fresh air, away from the stuffiness of the dance floor. The kitchen was somewhat empty, more sober people maintaining intelligent conversations. Grabbing a red solo cup, you filled your cup with beer, as you people watched. Thor was trying his hardest to be Valkyrie in beer pong, but by the looks of the cups, he was failing. Steve, Bucky, and Sam had their arms wrapped around one on another as they sang along to some tune. But your eyes were torn from the scene when shouts of her name rang throughout your ear.
“Wanda!!” Clint yelled the loudest.
Her emerald eyes found yours, like it was the most natural thing in the world, her lips quirked upwards slightly. As quick as it appeared, it faded away, like reality finally caught up to her. You let out a deep breath as you maintained eye contact, trying to slow your racing heartbeat, “Y/N! Dude!” Scott yelled and you looked down at your cup to see it spilling over the edge like Niagra Falls.
“Fuck,” you muttered under your breath, turning off the tap, and wiping off your beer soaked hands. Your eyes filtered back up to Wanda, as the redheaded Russian appeared behind her, intertwining their fingers together. You reach for the paper towel roll, ripping off a few pieces to clean up the mess you made.
“Wow sestra, the party started an hour ago and you’re already making a mess,” Natasha’s voice made you freeze in your spot. You turn to face your older sister wearing her infamous shit-eating smirk.
Your eyes drifted down to their intertwined hands as you gave them your best smile, “Ouch Nat, no, how’s my favorite sister doing? Or I’m so happy to see you!” You tease and she playfully rolls her eyes.
“Yelena would kick my ass if she heard me say that you’re my favorite sister,” Nat said, her eyes scanning the crowd. “Where is she anyway?”
You shrug, “Last time I checked she was about to play a game with Kate. Something about shooting arrows at beer bottles that rested on top of Peter’s head,” Natasha’s eyes widen at your nonchalant tone. Her eyes once more scanning the crowd for your younger sister. “Anyway, back to the whole favorite thing. She can’t kick your ass if it’s the truth. I mean I’m your favorite sister, right?” Your sister rolls her eyes, as she starts weaving her way through the crowd in search of Yelena, “Wait! Nat! I’m your favorite, right?!” you yell over the loud music and the indistinct chatter.
Wanda chuckles, “Are they really shooting beer bottles off of Peter’s head?” She asks with a knowing look in her eyes.
Your eyes shined back with mischief, shaking your head, “Nope! Kate and Yelena suggested the idea, but Peter quickly shot it down, despite them trying to blackmail him.” The two of you share a giggle at the thought of the best friends.
“They’re gonna kill that poor boy one day,” she says and you nod your head in agreement. The two of you stand there in a comfortable silence, people watching.
Wanda’s hand drifts closer to yours, desperate for some sort of contact with you. Before she intertwines your fingers together, you pull away quickly, “Shit. I promised Steve I would bring him this beer. He’s probably looking for where I am, I’ll catch you later,” you smile at her before taking the red solo cup and whisking yourself away. You left so fast, you didn’t get a chance to see Wanda’s disappointed look on her face.
The stuffy room suddenly felt suffocating, slipping out to the backyard, it was a lot less crowded. You slipped your shoes off, rolling up the cuffs of your jeans, as you dipped your legs into the pool. The cool summer night breeze brushed through your hair, drying the sweat that lingered from the dance floor. You grabbed your pack of cigarettes from your back pocket, flickering your lighter to slowly kill yourself by inhaling the small cancerous stick.
Your mind drifted back to the brunette inside, you could marry her. You really wanted to fucking marry her. You had never felt this way about anyone before. Even though you shouldn’t, you know damn well that you shouldn’t. But that night over winter break changed everything for you.
The winter breeze shook through your body, as your legs dipped into the freezing water. You hugged your jacket tighter against your body, pulling out the pack of cigarettes from your jacket pocket. You felt someone’s presence next to you, as they sat down, dipping their own feet into the pool. You slowly inhaled from the nicotine lit stick, as you turned your head to face the unknown presence. Wanda had a sheepish smile on her face, her brunette hair tucked back behind her ears, “Can I have a light?” she asks.
You chuckle softly, flicking the ash onto the concrete next to you, “Wanda Maximoff, having a smoke? Since when?”
“Since right now. I want to try one,” she said, sitting up straight, her voice sounding confident, like she knew what she was doing.
“No, I’m not gonna give you one,” you laugh at her shocked face.
“But why not? You do it all the time!” she questioned with her eyebrows furrowed and matching pout on her face.
God she looked so adorable, but you quickly shook that intrusive thought off, “Exactly I do it all the time, which doesn’t make it a good thing. These little guys are terrible for you, especially when you get addicted. They slowly kill you from the inside out. I mean I have one every day and you know what? It’ll probably kill me one day. At the time, I didn’t have anyone care enough about me to tell me to stop.  So no you absolutely can not have one because if I give you one my sister would probably kill me before the smoking does."
She looks at you with her eyes widened and a small smile, "Are you sure this is about Nat kicking your ass or do you not want to give me one because you care about me?" She teased in a sing songy voice as a light pink coats your cheeks.
“Definitely more about my sister kicking my ass. Speaking of my sister, I’m honestly surprised you came to this party. My sister is off on a work trip in Boston and you’re usually attached at the hip.”
She rolls her eyes, “Well, someone was a little convincing today with the whole ‘Wanda please! We haven’t hung out together since you started dating my sister!’ begging act that you pulled today.”
“Excuse me! I was not begging!” you bring your voice down to a whisper, leaning towards her ear, “Trust me Maximoff, when I’m begging there'll be much less clothes on,” you wink at her, causing her eyes to widen and a soft blush to dust over her cheeks. She slaps your shoulder, throwing her face in her hands before letting out a groan, “C’mon, pretty girl, let’s get you a drink!”
You get thrown back into reality, when Thor drunkenly jumps into the pool and the cool water sprays across your face, “Sorry Y/N! Thor lost at beer pong and this was the punishment!” Valkyrie explained and you gave her a tight lipped smile before getting up and going back inside.
You were just going to sit by the window sill away from the rest of the party, but your eyes found Natasha and Wanda’s figures on the dance floor. The two of them moved sensually to the beat and you couldn’t help, but feel the ache in your heart. You couldn’t seem to tear your eyes away until those god damn green eyes found yours and you quickly looked away, sneaking off towards the balcony. No one else really knew about it. But you knew it, all too well.
Wanda’s breath was close to your ear, as she tried to get you to hear her over the pounding music, “Do you want to break away from all of this? I think I need a little breather.”
You nod, “C’mon, I know the perfect place,” you extend her hand out to her and she intertwines your fingers together, not wanting to get separated in the crowd.
Leading her through the house and to the balcony on the top floor, you opened the door for her. The rest of the party seemed to have faded away from your secluded spot. The only real noise was the muffled music coming from downstairs, but even that seemed like it was miles away. The drinks were taking effect, not too bad enough to have you spinning, but a nice little buzz in your head.
The two of you take a seat on the little patio chairs, looking up at the bright city skyline. People like to think of the New York City skyline as one of the most beautiful views in the world, but as Wanda sits next to you with the bright city lights illuminating her face, it definitely tops the city. Once more, you fetch out your pack of cigarettes, lighting another one as it rested in between your fingers.
“You said that when you first started smoking it felt like you had no one who cared about you, why is that?” the brunette asks, staring at you intently as you exhale a puff of smoke.
You shrug, flicking the ash onto the ground, “I started back when we were seniors in high school, after my mom died and my dad left. Nat turned 18 not too long before my mom died and she was forced into the role of being an actual adult because when you turn 18, you’re not really an adult even though you’re labeled as one. Some 18 year olds just finished high school, and are still living with their parents, but Nat had to take care of two younger sisters. She had to put her life on hold for me and Lena. Instead of helping her and supporting her, when our mom died I kind of blew off all responsibilities. I turned rebellious, stopped playing volleyball, hung out with the wrong crowd. Nat always had the disappointed mom look and she was always angry at me, which made Yelena angry with me all the time. So, when I started smoking our relationship was so bad, that it felt like neither of them would have cared.”
“I didn’t know that,” she whispered. It was eye opening to her, you were her best friend. Of course, she knew that your mom died and that your dad left as soon as she died. But it seemed like a new side of you was shining through.
“Not a lot of people do. It’s one of the things I regret the most, you know? I was so selfish back then. I mean even Yelena acted like more of an adult than I did. Now every time I light one of these guys, it’s a constant reminder of what I did…or well I guess what I didn’t do. My punishment for how I acted back then,” you chuckle lightly, “I’ve never said that before, so I better not regret telling you Maximoff.” A lighthearted tone in your voice, as you try to hide the self depreciation in it.
Her head tilts to the side and her eyes are lit up, like you just showed her the most amazing thing in the world, “You won’t.”
A shiver ripples through her body and you quickly shrug off your jacket, placing them over her body. Your scent of smoke and subtle hints of vanilla invaded her senses, quickly becoming addicted to it. “Why didn’t you bring a jacket, Wands? My sister’s not here, so who are you trying to impress,” you quip and she smiles, shaking her head.
“No one,” she mutters, but she desperately wishes she could say, ‘you’.
“What’s got you so angry?” Yelena asks, plopping down next to you with her own red solo cup in her hand. The soft memory fading away from your mind as you shrug. The itch to reach for another cig was becoming too strong.
“Nothing. How’d you even know I was up here?”
“I saw you pouting like Peter Parker when Kate and I make fun of him, so I followed you up here,” she shrugs, “So do you want to talk about it?”
“Not really," you say pulling at the loose thread from the rips in your jeans.
She scoffs, “Let me rephrase that question, do you not want to talk to me about it because it’s about Wanda?”
“Yelena don’t-“
“No Y/N. Look, whatever you and Wanda had going on, it needs to stop,” your younger sister scolds.
You stand up abruptly, rubbing your face with your hands, “Don’t you think I know that? You’ve already lectured me once and I’ve kept my distance from her since then. I am trying my best! Now please, just leave me here to sulk, I’ll be fine just like I always am.”
She throws the pack of cigarettes that you didn’t even know fell out of your pocket. Some of them rolling onto the ground, “You told me you quit these too! You don’t think I could smell the smoke off of you right now? I may be your little sister, but I am not stupid. So if you were lying about these, how do I know you’re really lying about stopping things with Wanda?”
She opens the balcony door about to walk in, but she stops just as she enters the frame, “You’re supposed to be the older sister, right?” She looks at you intently like she’s waiting for an answer and you just nod. “So fucking act like it.”
Yelena slams the door shut. You collapse onto the patio chair, dropping your face into your hands as you let out a shaky breath. Your shaky hands reached for the pack of cigarettes on the floor, neatly placing it in a box, but keeping one of them out, lighting it as it rests in between your lips.
How did everything get so fucked up?
“I’m not this type of girl,” Wanda whispers in the middle of the night. You and your sisters had your closest friends over for a small party. Everyone else seemed to have passed out from Yelena’s drinking games. But both you and Wanda were fighting dreamland and instead giving into your fantasies.
The spring breeze rippled through the two of you as you stood out on your apartment balcony. “What do you mean?”
She shrugs, leaning in a bit closer, “I don’t sneak around in the middle of the night and secretly hope that my girlfriend's sister is awake. I don’t hug someone for longer than what is deemed friendly in a stranger’s eyes. I don’t immediately look at someone who’s not my girlfriend after anyone tells a joke just to see their smile,” she says, as the two of you just continue to get lost into each other’s eyes.
You start shrinking under her gaze, reaching for the pack of cigarettes in your hoodie pocket. You were about to light it when Wanda grabbed the lighter and the rest of the pack that you held in your hand. Your eyebrows furrowed as you stared into her beautiful green eyes, “You once told me a month ago that you felt like you had no one who cared enough to tell you to stop smoking when you first started. So, I’m telling you right now that I care about you and I don’t want you to kill yourself with these stupid sticks.”
A shy smile curled onto your face, as you let her throw your pack into the trash can. “I’m not that kind of girl either, but as I’m staring into those goddamn eyes of yours all I can think about is how much I want to kiss you.” You quip back, ignoring the guilt induced thoughts that are trying to betray what your heart is screaming at.
She snorted at your response, a mischievous smile on her face. The pad of Wanda’s thumb gently traces over your lips and your body freezes. Her hands hesitantly move from your lips to your cheeks, as she stares into your eyes begging for approval. Without thinking, you leaned in and kissed her lips, and the brunette immediately returned the kiss gently.
You place your hands on her chest, pressing harder against her lips. She smiles to herself as she places her hand on your waist. Your kisses become more passionate as your tongue battles for dominance. Her hands on your hips pulled you closer and your cold hands quickly slid under your shirt.
As she ran out of breath, she decided to slide down to her neck, leaving sloppy kisses. You let out a small moan in pleasure, “Wanda?” She hums in response, slightly nipping your neck, “Do you want to take this to my room?”
“Please,” she mumbled against your neck.
When it was over, the two of you lay next to each other. The pants of your breathing filled your bedroom. Your bare chests moving in perfect rhythm to your shared heartbeat. The beautiful brunette shifts her body towards you, looking at you with droopy eyes and tired smile.
“Hi,”  Wanda whispered shyly.
“Hi,” you said, charmed.
She grabs your fingers and plays with them, weaving her own fingers between them, bringing your hand up to your lips, pressing a soft kiss against it. Your hands trace figures along your hip. Her gentle hand brushes away a stray piece of hair that fell across your face, as she tucked it into place.
“I have always wanted you,” she whispers, “It’s always been you.”
What should’ve been the last time turned into a past time. Two best friends breaking away from a party started innocently. Gossiping in the bathrooms quickly turned into heated makeout sessions. A breather on the balcony away from your drunken peers turned into deep conversations with her head tucked into the crook of your neck as you hold onto each other.
That one tiny spark that the two of you wouldn’t put out was slowly coming to the end of the cigarette. The cigarette stick was nothing, but a nub as it was about to disintegrate into thin air.
At first it was fun, making a million excuses just to have a simple moment alone. Until, the need for something more came to be and the realization of what the two of you had done seeped into your bloodstream like some sort of drug. A drug that you couldn’t kick. You had stopped smoking for her, but she was this new drug that you were terribly addicted to.
Wanda’s head rested on the top of your chest, as your arms wrapped securely around her. From the curtains of your window, you could see the sun start to slowly rise, and the soft snores from her mouth filled the room.
You kiss the top of her head gently, “Wands,” you whispered in her ear, scratching her back. A soft hum escaped her lips as she stirred in your arms, “The sun’s coming up, you should sneak out before Yelena wakes up.”
“Just a few more minutes,” she whispers, nuzzling deeper into your neck.
“We don’t have a few more minutes, darling,” you respond with a soft smile on your face. She lets out a soft groan before lifting herself off of you. Wanda sat up, pulling your oversized t-shirt over her, and a pair of shorts. Her hair was slightly disheveled and her tired eyes were one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen. “You’re a work of art, Wanda Maximoff.”
She snorted, “That was lame,” she mumbled, leaning down to kiss you. Her lips slightly chapped, but you didn’t care, you just loved the feeling of her lips on yours. “I’ll see you at the party tomorrow night, where we are going to go through with our plan and tell Natasha together, right?”
Even though her eyes were still droopy, she looked at you intently, “Right,” you mumbled against her lips, pressing another kiss to them.
“Y/N, I need you to promise me this time. Every time we’ve made a plan to tell her the truth, you’ve backed out. We can’t keep lying to her like this. I want to be with you the right way. So, please…for me?” she whispered to you.
You let out a sigh, pressing a kiss to her forehead, before touching them together, “I promise.”
“I love you,” she whispered into the thin air.
“I love you. I have loved you, well…definitely longer than I should have. We’ll tell her tonight and we’ll face the consequences together. I promise,” A wide smile crosses her face and how you so desperately wish you could hold onto that smile forever. She wraps her arms around your neck, pulling herself closer to you as she kisses you with so much love, you don’t know how your heart hasn’t exploded. “Now, you should probably get going before Lena wakes up. C’mon pretty girl, I’ll walk you out,” you whisper to her, kissing her quickly.
The two of you reach your apartment door, kissing her once more before asking her to text you when she gets home. You were about to stumble back to bed, desperate for some shut eye, when you bumped into a figure. Your eyes flickered onto your little sister.
“What are you doing up so early?” She questions.
“I needed some water, so I just chugged a glass,” you lied. “Why are you up so early?”
“I promised Kate that I would go on a morning run with her, Peter, and Lucky this morning,” she answered, staring at you intently.
You give her a tight lipped smile, “Well, I uh hope you have fun. I’ll see you when you get-“
“Are you sure you were just grabbing some water? Because from what I saw from here, you were just walking Wanda out of the apartment. She was wearing one of your shirts, which I thought was fishy. But I just thought that maybe she just spent the night. I don’t know why you wouldn’t tell me, but that’s cool. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, I didn't want to jump to conclusions. But all of that benefit of the doubt bullshit I told myself flew out my head when I saw you kiss her goodbye. What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
“Lena, look-“
“How long?” She interrogated you and your eyes drift down to your hands as you fiddled with them. Your little sister looked down to meet your gaze, forcing you to look her in the eyes, “How long, Y/N?”
“For the last three months, but we’re planning to tell her the truth  tomorrow night at Stark’s party.”
“I need you to listen to me very carefully, Y/N. Nat has sacrificed everything for us! Everything! She declined her top college on the west coast to stay home and take care of us. She took crappy jobs that she didn’t want just to make ends meet when she was just 18 years old! She wasn’t like you. She didn’t throw away her volleyball scholarships. She gave them up. She sacrificed and lost everything! For me,” she took a dangerous step closer to you, pushing her finger into your chest. “And you! Natasha wanted us to have the best life that mom had always promised us, even if that meant putting her life on hold. And this is how you’re going to repay her for that? You're going to repay her by sneaking around with her girlfriend?!”
“That is not fair, Lena!” you scold her.
She scoffs, “Not fair? Do you know what’s not fair, Y/N? The money she saved in her savings account all throughout high school quickly drained, because she had to bail you out of jail more than once. You were lucky that Steve’s dad was the sheriff so it never touched a sliver of your record, but Nat still had to pay the fines. It’s not fair that when I was a sophomore in high school, I couldn’t go to any football games or dances because I had to grow up and cover all of your shifts while you were off getting shit faced somewhere else!”
“My mom died-“ you were about to argue.
“So did ours, Y/N!” she screamed at you. “Yet, Natasha and I were picking up the pieces and you kept destroying everything in sight. So, I want you to think about this when you and Wanda tell Natasha all about your relationship tomorrow night, she has given everything she loves up for you and me. Wanda is just going to be one more thing she loses because of you.”
The two of you stayed there in a tense silence, just staring at one another with tear filled eyes. Until the front door swung open. Out of the corner of your eye, you watched as your older sister wheeled in her suitcase from her latest business trip.
A low whistle left her lips as she saw the standoff between the two of you, “Is everything okay?”
Yelena was first to break her gaze, forcing a smile on her face, something she has gotten far too good at. “Yeah, welcome home, sestra. I’m about to head out to go on a morning run with Kate and Peter, I'll see you guys later.”
“What was that about?” Nat asked as your younger sister left.
You shrug, “No idea,” you clear your throat, subtly wiping away at your eyes while she starts brewing some coffee. “How was the trip?”
The balcony door creaked open as you lit another cigarette. “Detka? What are you doing?” Wanda’s voice filled the thick air, grabbing the cigarette from your lips and throwing it out. “You haven’t smoked for the last three months, when’d you even get a pack? What happened?”
Your eyes were bloodshot from holding back the tears that you were so desperately trying to keep in. You know what has to happen.
The drug that is Wanda Maximoff gave you such a high. You were so addicted to the illusions of the love between you and her. A love that never was and never will be. The worst part about any addiction is that it’s so intimate. You become so close with your addictions that leaving them behind is like killing a part of you that taught you how to survive. And all that’s left of you is pain and misery.
“Y/N, why have you been avoiding me?” Wanda questions, her voice shaking just a little bit.
You shrug, “You seem a little preoccupied. I didn’t want to intrude,” you look out at the skyline, desperately avoiding her gaze.
“Oh okay. So this has nothing to do with what we’re going to tell Nat tonight?”
You shook your head, “There’s nothing to tell. There’s nothing going on between us, Wanda. There can’t be anything going on,” you look at her, the tears that you were trying to hold back were falling like droplets of rain against your car window. “You’re my best friend and you’re my sister’s girlfriend. That’s all.”
“You’re not just my best friend, Y/N, and you know it. You can’t pretend like we never happened because it did, it happened. And I don’t regret it, not one bit. I am in love with you, Y/N, and I know what we did wasn’t right, but I can’t help but love you,” she explains to you, trying to wrap her arms around you, but you shake your head once more as you step away from her.
“This can’t happen. We need to pretend like none of this happened-“ you begged her. You didn’t want to make this harder than it needed to be.
“We have been sneaking around for months! Even if she doesn’t know it, we have already hurt her! If we tell her together, we are doing right by Natasha. She’s going to be heartbroken and angry, but she’s going to realize one day that this was the right thing to do. She deserves better than someone who’s in love with her sister.”
There was a silence that followed, as you just continued to stare at her speechless, “I can’t-“ your voice breaks, as you look down at your hands.
Wanda’s arms wrapped around your waist and you weren’t fighting it anymore. She placed her forehead against yours, her voice pleading, “I’ll fix it please, I’ll do anything. We don’t have to tell Nat until you’re ready, just please don’t do this.”
“You can’t fix this, Wands. The only person who can fix this is me. You’re right, Nat deserves better, and after all the shit I put her through the last five years, I'm going to give that to her. I’m going to be the sister she should’ve had by her side when our mom died. So that means letting you go,” you whispered, biting your lip to stop the sobs that are trying to escape. “You deserve better than me anyway, Wands. Someone like my sister,”
You kiss her forehead, before pulling away from her embrace, “I’m sorry,” you whisper to her.
You avoided her tear stained cheeks and glossy eyes, as you continued to sit out and stare at the city before you. You destroyed everything in sight, but this time you were going to be the one to pick up all the pieces. Suddenly, her gaze wasn’t on you anymore and the balcony door was being slammed shut.
Your eyes drift to the voices at the front of the house, “Wanda, what happened?” Nat’s voice rings in your ear and you can see them from where you’re sitting.
“Nothing, it was just too crowded and everything was too overwhelming. I think I just need to go home,” she says and you hate how her tears are because of you. Your older sister wrapped her strong arms around the distressed girl, holding her tighter.
Fishing out your pack, you lit the small cigarette, enjoying the way it made your head feel. Wanda’s eyes flickered up towards the balcony, noticing the smoke emitting off of it. You let out a sigh, staring at the girl in front of you. All that the two of you were was all you were ever going to be because she always had someone waiting at home.
“C’mon, let’s go home,” Nat whispered to her, intertwining their fingers together, and leading her to the car.
Nicotine doesn't taste the same as Wanda did, but it’ll have to do.

I finally got my hands on something I've been looking for (for a reasonable price) since I was just a lowly little level 12 hornball - A "Marvel Swimsuit Special!"
Tumblr media
This is the second issue in the series (though the third book of its kind), and it was released in 1993 when... times were different.
The coolest thing about them (other than the totally radical '90s hunkeroos and baberinos in general) is the amount of really talented artists that submitted pieces - So many industry-leading folks putting their spin on the self-aware, low-brow, tongue-in-cheek project.
This first image was by Joe Jusko, a super popular cover artist at the time. I remember his Conan covers the most.
I'll eventually scan the whole thing in high quality, but for now, I'll take some preview pics to show you some of my favorite and/or goofiest pages:
Tumblr media
Here is Domino, looking like we might need to race her to a Dermatology appointment. She's apparently tacky enough to wear a swimsuit with a domino print on it.
And check out Cable in the back - Sun's out, cyberbun out! He's ready to catch some waves on a totally-worth-the-money-and-production-time rocket-powered machine gun surfboard.
I really appreciate this artist's commitment to all the "Liefeld pouches" here. I hope they're waterproof, or all those Tic Tacs inside 'em are gonna get ruined. :(
Penciling by Chris Batista, ink by Hector Collazo, coloring by Mark McNaab.
Tumblr media
Let's kick off the "after the jump" part properly with this glorious image of Pip. Because this is certainly what people bought this book for.
It just so happens that this fuzzy little asshole narrates the entire issue, so he's to blame for the inherently sexist captions on all the pictures.
Jesus Christ, he's got two big toes on each foot.
Pencilking by Darick Robertson, ink by Andrew Pepoy, coloring by Tom Smith.
Tumblr media
I love me some Cloak and Dagger.
Tandy looks as gorgeous as ever. Surely she owns stock in boobie tape by now.
Tyrone, however, is getting so much sand stuck to him right now... I don't think he digs being used as a beach blanket. I'm... not even sure he's ever had to wash his cloak before today! Yikes. He's all like:
Tumblr media
Penciling by Joe Madureira, ink by Terry Austin, and coloring by Gregory Wright.
Tumblr media
I can't stop laughing at how much Thunderstrike looks exactly like the Genetic Freak, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner in this picture:
Tumblr media
The work is entirely by Lou Harrison. It may not surprise you to learn he's also a Fantasy artist.
Tumblr media
I've always had a thing for Silver Sable, and this page is just fantastic.
That being said, my favorite part is Sandman sitting there, looking like a dope, shaped like a sand castle. Which, while it seems silly, was probably the most challenging and detailed thing I've ever seen him do with his powers. Worth it for the shot, I suppose!
Line work and ink by Steven Butler, a favorite of mine. He did penciling for the "Silver Sable and the Wild Pack" series (which got me attached), but he's also known for designing the Scarlet Spider suit. Coloring by Gregory Wright.
Tumblr media
If you thought I wasn't going to Morb out on this post, you were undead wrong.
Just look at that ridiculous batpackage. Also... Is he really serving a cape over a leather jacket, but with absolutely no pants? Damn, dude.
Penciling by Gary Barker, ink by Jimmy Palmiotti, coloring by Tom Smith.
Tumblr media
I can spot Adam Hughes' work a mile away, wow. I guess I didn't realize he was doing work for Marvel this far back.
A fierce-as-ever, short-haired Natasha who looks like she got slammed so hard against a rocky wall that it cracked, got up, emptied out the rest of her clip, and still had enough time and energy to pose during a reload.
Black Widow, bay-bayyy. ♫
Tumblr media
Oh my god, Ghost Rider is just so naughty. Wearing nothing but his birthday bones.
This scene just looks like it smells awful.
Artwork by Tristan Shane.
Tumblr media
Shulkie in a metal bikini (function over fashion?), bursting out of the lava from an active volcano. You wanna talk "hot tub?" Sure, this gets a feature.
Penciling and ink by cover artist Steve Geiger, coloring by Paul... Mounts.
Tumblr media
Deezamn, Bishop. Never seen guy looking so buff before.
Instead of just Bishop, this looks like Hank McCoy and Bishop had a child together. Does he have any other mode than "arm vein p-pop?"
Penciling by Dwayne Turner, ink by Mark Farmer, coloring by Gregory Wright.
Tumblr media
Ah, one of the more famous '90s Psylocke images that wasn't done by Jim Lee.
This centerfold was used in lots of comic store ads for several years after this issue came out. I remember seeing posters in the shops themselves. Trading cards of this picture are one of the most costly to collect.
It's beautiful, and the colors/lighting/shading are all fantastic.
Penciling and ink by the wonderful Art Thibert, creator of the Raft max security prison and inker of some of the most iconic X-title covers.
Coloring by Paul Mounts, who did the coloring in hundreds and hundreds of just Marvel comics alone - I didn't mention that earlier because I was snickering at his name earlier in the She-Hulk feature. My bad.
Tumblr media
Well, this wouldn't be Tumblr without a cat picture, yeah? Or a catgirl picture, I suppose.
This is the most adorable scene in the book. Just Tigra innocently taking a cuddle nap with some... um... wow, I don't know what the fuck those things are. Snuggle up anyway!
Penciling and ink by Amanda Conner, coloring by Gregory Wright.
Tumblr media
Huh. Of all the characters in this book, I really didn't expect to see Dr. Cooper... Either which way, the swimsuit under the detective get-up is pretty choice, honestly.
This is, of course, another Adam Hughes line art joint. Ink by Mark Farmer, coloring by Gregory Wright (who did a lot of these, huh?).
Tumblr media
What's this? A parody ad that you'd more expect to see in an issue of "What The--?!" that only '80s kids will understand? Yup, totally.
This was in the back of the book and doesn't fit the theme at all, but it gets a mention because of the weird inclusion and also to stall time until I had the final image ready, because I needed time to prepare...
Tumblr media
THIS.
This is the one.
How could I not end this little "show and tell" without this beauty right here?
Here, we have remorseless killer Frank Castle flexing his best end-of-catwalk pose in front of a... wrestling match between a bunch of lady demon dinosaurs battling... for his affection? To tip him American cash? Or maybe all those hearts come from their love of beating each other up? I'm not here to judge.
And then there's a sign for 75 cent hotdogs, but it's been covered with another sign for... $20 tooth brushes? What in the shit is going on here?
There is one thing I do know, though. The artist wants you to think that The Punisher has at least $2.75 worth of hotdog under that massive crotch skull.

Estera - Ch 30 - Introduce
It’s been a while… nearly a fortnight, but they’re back ;)
What went before
I struggled with this one, dunno why, but most of the good ideas and one-liners are down to @sofasurf! So much so I’m tagging her in for the next one.
This chapter is 100% silly friends being silly and daft brothers being daft because everyone needs to let their hair down once in a while… And they need a break before anything else falls on anyone…
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
The three “your contact is typing” dots bounced for a while then stopped. Then bounced again. Then stopped.
She put the phone down and continued to make breakfast but within moments picked it up again, intrigued. What was he taking so long to write?
How’s your day?
Did you know stress balls are not actually indestructible???
Um, yeah - I’m a primary school teacher. That’s basically day 1 of training.
Huh.
I sense there is a story behind this… sharing is caring you know?
THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INDESTRUCTIBLE!
O….K…. Imagine me saying generic reassuring things and patting you on the shoulder.
My shoulder is covered in stress ball goop. But thank you, that weirdly helps.
🤭 oh dear… that stuff is a beast to wash out
Well there’s another Italian tailor I have to avoid for the rest of my life…
Not again!
I have glitter in my hair 😭
I’m sure it looks beautiful. I’ll ask one of your brothers to send me a photo.
I’m not getting out the shower until it’s gone.
You will literally starve to death.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
So today I had to confiscate an action figure which had Alan’s head, John’s torso and your limbs. Should I be concerned about these children?
That’s… horrifying. I’m never coming back to the UK. 😲
They all say hi by the way.
I’m too scared to say hi back to them now 😬
On the topic of the action figures…
Yes?
I have to know - what WAS wrong with Gordon’s novelty action figure of you? You never told me…
You don’t want to know.
Oh I really really do.
Oh go on, I’ll only be imagining worse.
The figure was making pancakes while wearing a frilly blue “Kiss The Chef” apron.
That doesn’t seem so bad?
Only the apron.
Oh my… 🤣
Speak of this to no-one.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Hey Estera, got any plans this evening?
Aside from vegging out with Bez and watching Celebrity Alligator Wrestling?
I mean I wouldn’t want to tear you away from that…
I could be persuaded… :)
Well, we happen to be in Europe right now (John had a thing) and Penny is visiting some Earl near Exeter and suggested we pop by and go out for a drink.
John’s not Earthside very often so she takes whatever chances she can get to catch up with him (they are old college friends, did I ever mention that?)
ANYWAY as it’s not far from you I wondered whether you might like to join us?
Oh wow thank you that’s very kind of you to think of me! It would be lovely to meet John and Lady Penelope if you’re sure I wouldn’t be intruding?
Of course not!
Virgil is with us too and says you have to come because he’s already bored with mine and John’s company.
Ok, I must now tell you that he did not in fact use those exact words.
Or to say that.
Apparently I am maddening.
Hi Estera, it’s Virgil. Please ignore what my idiot brother is saying. It would be lovely to see you if you’d like to come but please don’t feel any pressure.
Girjebvaxbnnnnn&&&&&&&
It’s Scott again, I’ve retrieved my comm. Sorry about my annoying TINY LITTLE BABY sibling who snatches things that aren’t his.
😂 I think I’m sold. I can get to Exeter in an hour? Where and when should I meet you?
John says the place is near the Cathedral - send a message when you get there and I’ll come and find you?
Fab! Ok I shall do that.
Ha!
What?
F-A-B is kind of a thing for us.
Oh! Oh I should have known that!
Reuben and Alex refuse to use any other affirmative words.
Why though?
Long story, tell you later maybe.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Estera rounded the corner of the cathedral and yelped as a strong gust nearly ripped her arm off in its determination to steal her umbrella. She wrestled it back and ducked into the shelter of the huge doorway only to conclude she should have let the wind take it as it was no longer any use to anyone other than as an art piece. “Mangled: A study in nylon and flimsy aluminium” perhaps. She tucked it under her arm and pulled out her phone:
Hi! I’m on The Green :) Don’t worry about coming out in all this, just let me know where you are and I’ll find you.
On my way!
Scott! It’s chucking it down! Just give me directions or somewhere to aim for.
I like the rain!
You’re a nutter.
A what?
… err British for ‘totally normal and rational’.
OK I will take your word for that and begin using ‘nutter’ regularly in a professional context.
Um… sure. I see no issues arising there.
😝 alright then
I think I see you!
She looked up and laughed as she spotted a lanky figure silhouetted against a streetlamp waving enthusiastically from across the green. She raised her arm in greeting, pulled her hood tighter around her face and then jogged towards him. She started out dodging the huge puddles with strictly limited success then gave up in favour of a direct route, swerving off course just the once to dump the useless brolly in a waste bin.
As soggy as she felt she was by the time their paths met, she wasn’t a patch on the drowned-but-grinning rat bouncing gently on his toes before her, hair plastered to his forehead and shirt clinging to him in a way she was relieved Barbara the receptionist couldn’t see.
Wait, shirt?
“Scott! I KNOW you own a coat.”
He waved a hand dismissively. “It always takes so long to dry the thing out. Cotton is fast.”
“Aren’t you freezing?”
“Nope!” He grinned and produced an umbrella with a flourish, pressing a button to automatically extend and open it and then raising it over her head in one smooth motion. The little squeak he emitted as he did so was anything but smooth however.
“Did I just hear an excited giggle from Mr Commander Tracy?”
“Also nope. Definitely not. Unrelatedly aren’t these just-press-the-button-and-SWOOSH-it’s-an-umbrella umbrellas just the best kind of umbrellas?”
Estera raised an eyebrow and wondered with amusement how many drinks he’d managed to put away already. “Certainly beats mine which I just ditched back there…” she looked at him smiling down at her from very much outside the umbrella’s zone of protection, water streaming down his face “although, given you have such a swanky brolly why did you not actually use it?”
“I told you, I like the rain.”
Estera raised an eyebrow. “Well, you’d do well living here then, we get a lot of it.” Shuddering slightly she shook water out of her sleeve. “Shall we get where we’re going before we grow gills?”
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
“He’s going to get absolutely soaked isn’t he?”
Virgil watched his elder brother stroll casually towards the doorway and then launch himself out into the rain like an excited puppy. He couldn’t help smiling fondly.
“You know what he’s like about rain, John. Anyway the wet shirt look isn’t going to do him any harm is it…?”
“VIRGIL! Honestly you’re impossible.” John’s facepalm was a masterpiece.
“Well, before he brings this young lady back, somebody had best update me on what, exactly, we believe her status is.”
“Virgil is convinced they are an item. Scott denies it.”
“I didn’t say that. I just think she’s good for him. He is happy. I like that. So I’m inclined to like her. And if we’re about to meet our future sister-in-law that’s fine by me.”
Penelope chuckled, Virgil the hopeless romantic was certainly living up to expectation. John was frowning slightly however and that intrigued her.
“What do you think, John darling?”
“I’m interested in what has him so… interested. They seem to spend a lot of time talking, yet all I can see they have in common is shared trauma and an unhealthy approach to adrenaline.”
“That is more than many people have when beginning a friendship, John. That doesn’t mean it is all there will ever be. Look at you and I, all we had in common was the inability to escape the weight of our surnames and yet we’ve had some superb times.”
John smiled and raised his lemonade in a silent toast.
“Well, I’m excited” Virgil commented. “Let’s not scare her by being too… you know.” he gestured vaguely.
“Excellent social etiquette tip, there, thank you Virgil.” his brother muttered.
Penelope smiled into her cocktail. This was going to be an interesting evening.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
“You ok?”
Estera had slowed almost imperceptibly as they approached the door to the boutique pub Penny had selected and Scott paused as they reached the shelter of the porch, his hand resting on the heavy oak door.
“Yes! Uh, a little nervous I guess? Last time I spoke to John I was… rather embarrassing.”
“Aww, no you weren’t. You were just worried about me and that’ll go in your favour I promise. It’s pretty much a family pastime from what I can make out…” he pulled an exaggerated grimace and got a little smile in response.
“I can imagine.” She appeared to be steeling herself.
“They don’t bite, I promise. But…” he touched her shoulder lightly and ducked down a little to look her in the eye “if you’d rather not… we could go somewhere else and I can catch up with them later?”
“Oh goodness no. I’m looking forward to it. Honestly, I am! Let’s go inside, it’s freezing out here.”
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
“Hey look, John, Estera found a drowned puppy!”
“Goodness, doesn’t it look tragic?”
Penelope leaned backwards away from Scott as he responded to his brothers’ banter by shaking himself like a dog and showering the table with droplets from his hair before wringing his sleeve out down the back of Virgil’s collar who himself yelped like Sherbet in a snowdrift.
“Right for that you’re buying the next round big brother.”
“And this is novel, how?”
His friend hung back a little, watching the interaction with a mixture of amusement and mild confusion. Penelope gestured to Estera to take a seat beside her and cut across the brotherly jibing:
“Might it be an appropriate moment to introduce us Scott?”
The supposedly eldest and most mature of the pack looked up from where he’d flung his arms around John’s neck in what was clearly a weaponised soggy hug and smiled impishly before moving over and crouching down next to Estera’s chair.
“Estera, this is Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward - she is as lovely as she is fabulous and I’m sure you’ll get along.”
“Oh, I don’t doubt that for a moment. And please call me Penny!”
Estera smiled and offered a hand which Penny grasped with both of hers and gave her a conspiratorial wink.
Scott cleared his throat importantly “Next, I am delighted to present for your approval Annoying-Little-Brother-One who also goes by don’t-call-me-Johnny”
“Ha. Ha. Scooter. It’s a pleasure to meet you in person, Estera, although why you are wasting your time in the company of this absolute fool I cannot fathom.”
“And last but very much not least, either in importance or sheer bulk, here is Annoying-Little-Brother-Two who we refer to as short-stuff, the-tank, care-bear or, occasionally, Virgil”
Virgil leaned across the table to shake her hand. “You do realise what an insufferable creature our eldest brother is don’t you?”
“Oh yes, spotted that one straight away.”
Scott clutched his chest and gasped “I am hurt! A plague o’ both houses! I am sped!” before collapsing on to his back with melodramatic flailing and a range of choking noises before lying still with his tongue lolling and eyes rolled back.
Penelope giggled delicately while Estera tutted and rolled her eyes.
“You still have a couple of paragraphs of monologue before you’re allowed to expire, Mercutio. C+ must try harder.”
Scott pouted while John held up his hand for a high five.
Penelope caught Virgil’s eye and he grinned.
“Death doesn’t get you out of your round big bro. Get your soggy butt off the floor and over to the bar while we fill Estera in on some key anecdotes.”
Scott’s expression of dread wasn’t melodrama at all.

Joe Alwyn and Paul Mescal in conversation for Variety's Actors on Actors (x)
Tumblr media
Paul Mescal and Joe Alwyn are literary heartthrobs, having both headlined TV series based on Sally Rooney books. In 2020, “Normal People” put Mescal on the map as a brooding student. And as married actor Nick in 2022’s “Conversations With Friends,” Alwyn’s character became enmeshed in a messy love triangle.
Their latest projects show what else the actors can do. In “Aftersun,” directed by first-time filmmaker Charlotte Wells, Mescal is a single dad who tries to bond with his preteen daughter (Frankie Corio) on a trip to Turkey. Alwyn had a busy year on the festival circuit, playing an enigmatic Englishman in Claire Denis’ Nicaragua-set romance “Stars at Noon” opposite Margaret Qualley, and a medieval uncle in Lena Dunham’s “Catherine Called Birdy.”
PAUL MESCAL: So what’s the name of the WhatsApp group that we’re in?
JOE ALWYN: It’s the Tortured Man Club, I think. It’s me, you — and Andrew Scott started the group.
MESCAL: He’s just on it every day. He’s just on it by himself.
ALWYN: Just messaging himself good mornings. We were both in the Sally Rooney universe and crossed over with Lenny Abrahamson. We were so lucky to have that experience.
MESCAL: Yeah, I think Lenny is one of those directors that definitely formed me. He’s been hugely important in everything that I’ve done since then. Was there anything you took from playing somebody like Nick into “Stars at Noon”?
ALWYN: With “Stars at Noon,” that was such a singular, strange, unusual entry point. I was brought on very last-minute, which was a first for me. I got an email Friday morning saying, “Will you read the script as soon as possible? If you’re interested, Claire would love to Skype with you.” And so obviously I did, I Skyped with her, and she said, “Will you join us?” She was already in Panama. And four days later, I got on a plane. And she was standing outside the hotel with a glass of rum for me and gave me a hug. And two days later, we started shooting.
MESCAL: Oh, wow. Is there something liberating in the process? You probably can’t do the amount of prep that you would.
ALWYN: Yeah, it was hard. At least at the beginning.
MESCAL: Was it just gut feel?
ALWYN: Yeah, and some conversations with Claire. Her way of shooting was so unusual. I can’t remember if I told you this before: She would shoot things out of order, even in a scene. It was very fragmented.
MESCAL: Disconnected and fragmented.
ALWYN: I think she feels things in an animal way and is piecing it together as she goes. And there’s no traditional coverage either. I wanted to ask you, thinking about Lenny and thinking about “Aftersun.” I absolutely loved it. And you’re incredible in it. With the space given to you guys to breathe in a room, and not stuff it full of exposition, and just have the camera rolling in a very real, naturalistic way, it felt quite Lenny-ish. Is that fair to say?
MESCAL: I think it probably is. It was directed by Charlotte Wells, who is going to be one of those directors that we’ll all be talking about. I haven’t come across somebody as assured as Charlotte.
ALWYN: Is that confidence in the script?
MESCAL: The stage directions are really confidently written. I don’t know about you, but I love acting in that space when you know that there’s a kind of theatricality to it, but the stakes are high. We only had Frankie for about four hours a day.
ALWYN: How old was she?
MESCAL: She turned 11 on set.
ALWYN: How much of that is improv?
MESCAL: Ninety-five percent of it is scripted, I’d say. The karaoke scene, for example, was just about getting Frankie comfortable with the idea that an 11-year-old who hasn’t ever acted before is going to have to stand up in front of a camera and an audience and sing “Losing My Religion.” And she does it brilliantly. In the rehearsal, the camera wasn’t working, and Frankie ingeniously went, “That’s OK. I’ll record it with my mind camera.” I remember turning to Charlotte like, “That’s the most brilliant line of all time.” Charlotte wrote it in afterwards. What’s a kind of ideal rhythm for you on set? Well, you’re just investing in Claire Denis.
ALWYN: And you know her use of bodies. There’s a sex scene in the first scene . Her direction was just like Francis Bacon.
MESCAL: Wow, just that? And, go! I’d like to get into that a bit, because obviously I think it’s fair to say we’ve done our share of intimate scenes. How did that experience on “Stars at Noon” differ from “Conversations”?
ALWYN: So different.
MESCAL: Yeah, really?
ALWYN: “Conversations With Friends,” there’s an intimacy coordinator. The scenes are spoken about. They’re rehearsed. Every movement is almost choreographed like a dance or a fight. And they’re quite blocked, even though there’s freedom within it. But I trusted Claire and I trusted the crew. And Margaret, obviously. And you feel safe within that. I think trust and feeling safe is the main thing.
MESCAL: That is the main thing, totally. But it is interesting, with that question, being it’s a hot topic in the industry. I think you’re right that you never want scenes around intimacy to feel stale. But ultimately they have to feel safe. And I think you can feel safe multiple ways, and that’s through trust.
ALWYN: Absolutely. I wanted to ask you, which is kind of off topic, but I remember us speaking before about anxiety and shooting and being able to get outside of anxiety in order to do the job. How are you finding that?
MESCAL: It’s that cursed feeling of, once you feel like it’s disappearing, it comes back and hits you like a ton of bricks. But I was talking to somebody about that. They said, “I don’t think it’s ever going to leave you, because it’s a personality type.” But for me, it’s trying to use that anxiety or fear or fear of failure — repurposing that to be like, “What I’m doing matters to me.” Might not matter to everybody, but it matters to me at that moment. How do you feel about that stuff?
ALWYN: It’s interesting and tricky. Because it gets to a point where there’s a degree to which nerves are completely inevitable and can also be helpful. But at the same time, there’s a danger — and I’ve certainly felt this in the last couple of years — where that can start to take away some of the pleasure and the fun of doing it. So recently it’s been a rethink: Going forward, just jumping in in the same way but caring less in the right way.
MESCAL: Talk to me a bit more about that.
ALWYN: Just trying to find a way to have more fun and sense of play.
MESCAL: I learned a huge amount from Frankie, because Frankie had never done it before and just loved acting. I feel like that’s a good instinct to have as an actor — to try and really get to the center of when you watch somebody act with abandon.
ALWYN: On “Catherine Called Birdy,” Bella Ramsey, who plays the lead, she was 17 when we shot it — probably 15 when she was cast. She’s just going for it. It was the first job I went back to out of COVID, and I remember feeling really nervous because I hadn’t done it for a while. And there was this world of masks. And Lena Dunham was having to direct on Zoom when I joined.
MESCAL: What is a Lena Dunham set like?
ALWYN: She’s a force. And full of energy, positivity, creativity. I think maybe also because she performs herself, she has a good understanding of what an actor might want. She really takes care of people. She will come in and tell you what she liked, or she’ll give you a thumbs-up. And, also, she’s just so funny.
MESCAL: Do you like auditioning?
ALWYN: I’ve come to quite like making tapes. It used to drive me mad.
MESCAL: I prefer being in the room, I find. I feel like my issue when I’m making a tape is that I have too much control.
ALWYN: Do you go on and on?
MESCAL: Yeah. And then it’s hour three.
ALWYN: You’ve got 50 takes to watch, and they all look the same.
MESCAL: It’s an absolute nightmare. What do you look for?
ALWYN: Erotic thrillers.
MESCAL: Same. •

Chris looks at you and says. "You ok?" You say. 'Hmh? oh yeah sorry it's a lot going on around." Chris wraps his arms around you and says. "Just close your eyes and dance, I'm right here"
You smile and lean your head on him and do what he said and it helps a bit.
After all the dancing, cake cutting and even the garter toss you and Chris walk outside and your family and friends are there with sparklers and you smile and chris takes your hand and you tow rush to the car but he stops and pulls you close and says. 'I love you Y/N Evans" You smile and say. 'I love you to Chris Evans."

One Morning at a Time
Warren Worthington III x Reader x Kurt Wagner
Fandom: X-Men
AU: Soulmate
Summary: While waiting for the soulmark that would change your life forever, you meet a wounded, winged mutant named Warren and a teleporter whose personality is sunshine incarnate, Kurt. You can’t help but catch feelings for them, even though you have no idea where or with whom your destiny truly lies.
Note: Reminder that I write poly stuff from time to time. I’ve been working on this fic on and off for months and it’s finally done. Now that I’m out of school (forever!(I graduated)) I’ll hopefully be a little more active! Anyway, I love these boys so, so much and I hope you do too. Tried to keep reader gender neutral, but let me know if I slipped up anywhere! Also reader’s birthday is in the summer in this (mine is personally in winter, so just pretend lol)
Warnings: canon-typical violence, mentions of surgery, language.
Word Count: 7.4k
Reader is: Gender Neutral! Also, a mutant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was about three months before your twenty-first birthday, and as everyone knew, that was approximately three months until your soulmark, the thing that would define the rest of your life as you knew it, would appear on your arm. Well, given that your soulmate wasn’t older than you, in which case, it could appear sooner.
You knew it was nothing to stress about, and you knew the universe would sort itself out, but that didn’t seem to stop you from worrying that you were the one person on this planet doomed to not have a mark. It was more of an absent thought, something that came and went, but something that bothered you nonetheless.
“Come on, (Y/N), it’ll be fun!” Jubilee urged, trying to get you to agree to come to the mall. “Get your mind off of things, you know?”
You thought about it for a moment. Honestly, you didn’t have that much homework…you could probably get it done whenever you all got back. You let out a sigh before finally relenting. “Alright, fine.”
In the school’s main entrance, Jean was waiting for you and Jubilee along with Scott, who had arrived a few days before, and a student you’d never met before. He was tall and blue with the most gorgeous amber eyes you’d ever seen. A spade tail swayed back and forth behind him, and when he saw the smile on your face at the sight of him, he smiled back with what had to be the most adorable smile in the world. Despite the dark colors he was sporting, the boy seemed to be sunlight incarnate.
“(Y/N), this is Kurt, Kurt, this is (Y/N).” Jubilee introduced, taking note of the way the two of you were looking at each other.
“Nice to meet you!” You said, beaming up at him. “When did you get here?”
“Um…About twenty minutes ago.” He replied, laughing softly.
“Oh wow, didn’t even give him a chance to get settled in before dragging him to the mall, huh?” You asked Jubilee, which caused her to laugh.
“I think we all need a mall trip.” Scott said, twirling a pair of keys that were definitely Professor Xavier’s around his finger. “And we better get going sooner rather than later if we don’t want to get busted by Dr. McCoy.”
“You’ve been here for less than a week and you’re already getting us into trouble…” You rolled your eyes and followed the others out the door towards where the professor kept his cars.
Jean smirked and gave Jubilee a nudge with her elbow. “I’d say he fits right in, then.”
The ride to the mall wasn’t too long. You sat in the back, smushed between the girls, but having fun nonetheless. And while Scott’s driving was a little iffy at times, he got you all there in one piece.
“Um, (Y/N)?” Kurt asked once your group was inside the mall’s doors.
“What’s up?”
“I want to pick out some clothes to…help me blend in a bit better. Jubilee said you were good at that.”
You looked at Jubilee, who gave you a mischievous grin and then back at Kurt. So you weren’t crazy, then, Jubilee had picked up on it too and was already playing match maker.
“I think I’m decent, yeah.” You nodded, smiling. “We’ll get you hooked up, Kurt.”
He grinned. “Thank you!”
“Yeah, of course.”
It didn’t take long to find something that suited him. A bright red jacket might not have been the most subtle option, but it looked great on him; complimented his skin tone and really brought out his eyes. And seeing the look on his face when he tried it on, you knew it was perfect.
“How does it feel?” Jean asked.
“It’s very comfortable.” Kurt noted, moving his arms around in it. “I like the color as well.”
“Then I’d say our work here is done. Let’s go to the arcade.” Scott said, motioning towards the door, his hands jammed in his pockets.
“So impatient.” Jean shook her head.
Once everything was paid for, you all headed up the escalators and up to the second level of the mall, where there was a giant carousel in the food court, a movie theater, an arcade, and countless stores. No wonder Jubilee loved this place so much; you definitely understood the appeal.
Once Scott was satisfied at the arcade, you all grabbed snacks and settled down in the food court. And when you did, you finally noticed the giant bruise on Kurt’s arm, which just about blended into his skin.
“Is that a bruise?” You asked, trying not to let the concern slip into your voice. You knew better than most that some humans still didn’t take very kindly to mutants. Especially mutants with a mutation as visible as Kurt’s.
Kurt looked down at the spot and then up at you, somewhat self-conscious and perhaps even a little sad. He didn’t say anything, just nodded.
You stared at it for another long moment before raising your hand, as if to touch it, but looked up at him to ask permission first. “Can I?”
Somewhat confused, Kurt nodded. You reached out and gently touched the spot with your finger and, before his very eyes, the large, dark bruise evaporated to nothing, healing in seconds. Kurt’s eyes widened and he looked up at you.
“You…you’re a healer.”
“I am.” You smiled. “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. I know…people can be cruel. I’ve seen a lot of injuries in my time at Xavier’s.”
“No, it’s alright.” Kurt shook his head. “Mystique just rescued me from Berlin. There was a mutant fighting ring. They…took me from my home, but…I like to think everything has a reason and,” he smiled, “I have a feeling I’m going to like it here.”
***
It was truly astonishing the difference a few hours could make. What had started off as an exciting, but normal day had quickly snowballed into what could potentially become the worst day of your life. You were on a plane to Cairo to stop the end of the world as you knew it, sitting next to Kurt and wishing beyond wishes that everyone on this plane and then some would make it back to Xavier’s in one piece. Well, what was left of Xavier’s…
“Have you ever done this before?” Kurt asked, his voice shaking.
“Not until today, no.” You replied, shaking your head. “It doesn’t feel real.”
Kurt nodded. That was the understatement of the century.
Mystique hashed out a plan as the rest of you listened carefully. She turned to you. “What can you do?”
“I’m a healer and I fly.” You told her.
She looked relieved when you said it. “Good. In that case, stay out of this as much as you can.” She paused and let out a sigh. “I have a feeling we’re going to need those healing powers.”
“Looks like they have a flyer too,” Hank noted. That was when you saw it, a flash of silver in the sky. Your heart leapt.
“And he’s got knives for wings.” Peter said, squinting out the window. “Wicked…”
“Great.” You scoffed.
When the plane touched down, everyone split off. Kurt was headed towards the pyramid to extract the professor. Mystique went up towards Magneto’s bubble with Peter to try to talk some sense into her former friend and you followed instructions, laying low until you were needed.
Well, until you saw the Angel of Death headed straight after Kurt. You looked to Hank, who hesitated before nodding. Getting the professor out took priority, and from the looks of it, Kurt could use all the help he could get.
A pair of yellow wings, not unlike a butterfly’s, sprouted from your back, glowing golden and made of energy. You ran, taking to the sky quickly and catching up to the angel without too much trouble. You tackled him out of the sky. Kurt looked back, his eyes wide when he saw you in combat with his pursuer.
“Kurt! Go!” You urged him, punching the angel in the face, causing him to stagger back. The way he was moving gave you the impression that those wings of his were heavy, and you didn’t want to find that out the hard way. “I’ve got this guy.”
He retaliated, a few sharp metal feathers dislodging from his wings and firing at you. You put up a shield, catching all but one, the one you missed barely grazing your cheek. It stung, but you stood your ground.
“Is that all you’ve got?”
His expression darkened. “Not even close.”
You had to admit, he was handsome in a threatening sort of way. He had soft golden curls and sad green eyes. Even though you were fighting, you could tell there was more to him. You had a feeling his alliance with Apocalypse was due to his circumstances rather than his beliefs. He looked so hurt. Tired.
“We don’t have to do this, you know.” When you said it, he almost paused for a moment. “We all want the same thing. We’re on the same side.”
“You don’t know anything about me.” He tried to kick your legs out from under you, but you jumped over his and countered, knocking him on his ass.
“I know you’re better than this.” You sounded so genuine when you said it, that he hesitated before starting to get off of the ground.
Jean’s voice echoed in your head. “(Y/N), Kurt has the professor. Get back here as soon as you can.”
You lifted from the ground just as Angel stood up. You flew out of the pyramid the way you came.
“Hey!”
“You’ve gotta catch me first.” You called over your shoulder, flying back to the plane in record speed, just as the others arrived. You watched for the Angel to follow you, but he was circling back for one of his other teammates, the one with the whip made of energy.
“Angel’s on his way to us.”
“Then let’s get out of here.” Hank said, raising the door you’d just come in as the plane began to rise into the air. You rushed over to the professor, looking over his injuries. His head was bleeding.
“Hi, professor,” You said softly, reaching forward. Your hand started glowing and immediately, the wound began to seal up.
“(Y/N), good to see you,” He said, relief flooding him as you took away his pain.
You chuckled. “Good to see you too.”
“You have a cut.” Kurt said, looking concerned. “On your cheek.”
You looked up at him and nodded. “I know. It doesn’t hurt that bad.”
He waited for a moment, watching you, but you didn’t make any effort to heal the wound. “Can’t you…?”
“It doesn’t work—” You were abruptly cut off by the sound of a horrible screeching noise near the back of the plane. “—on me.”
When you looked back, you saw a bright purple sword made of energy cutting through the metal and making an opening just big enough for the lady in the purple jumpsuit and the Angel himself to enter your escape vehicle.
“Everybody, grab ahold of Nightcrawler!” Jean instructed as the two intruders got closer.
Kurt’s eyes widened. “I’ve never done it with this many people!”
Jean held strong. “Get us out of here.”
One by one, everyone grabbed onto Kurt. You held his arm. Once everyone was secured, Jean used her telekinesis to lurch the plane forward, shifting the gravity. Angel fell, forced to the back of the plane, looking very uncomfortable, and Psylocke slipped out of the hole she’d just carved into the ceiling.
Kurt struggled to teleport, puffs of blue smoke appearing and disappearing around him intermittently, and in the moments the plane nosedived down, Angel managed to get to his feet. He dove forward, but just before he reached you, your surroundings changed with a poof.
There was a loud explosion somewhere in the distance. It was oddly still and quiet now. It took you a moment to gather yourself, and when you did, you saw Kurt laying there unconscious.
“Is he okay?” Scott asked while you worriedly wondered the same thing.
“It’s his energy,” Jean said, tapping into his mind. “He’s drained.”
“Kurt…” You moved closer to him, kneeling beside him and touching his cheek with a gentle hand. Your palm began to glow for a few seconds, and when you gave him your energy, you felt something dip inside you. He was really drained.
“(Y/N),” Hank said, his voice a warning. Sometimes you were convinced the scientist knew your limits better than you did, but as the resident doctor in the mansion, he often worked with the school’s only healer.
“I’m fine.” You replied, knowing fully well that might not be the case.
After a few long moments, Kurt’s eyes opened slowly and he looked up at you. “What happened?”
“You passed out.” You told him, sitting down beside him, very tired all of a sudden.
He focused on you. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m…I’m fine.”
“Take it easy, alright?” Hank said, gently pushing you back down when you tried to get up. “We’ve got it from here.”
You nodded, already feeling a little dizzy as you settled in. It couldn’t hurt to rest your eyes just for a few moments…
***
By the time you came around, it was all over. Jean had just finished off Apocalypse, and everyone was fine, for the most part. Kurt had been able to grab Peter just before his leg was broken by the ancient mutant, so the only person for you to heal was, well, yourself.
“How are you feeling?” Hank asked, kneeling beside you. He shined a flashlight in your eye and then nodded. No concussion. You were fine.
“Better. Is everyone—”
“Everyone is okay.” Hank nodded. “We’re gonna head out of here as soon as I can find a vehicle to get us out.”
“What about the plane?” Jean suggested.
Hank thought about it for a moment and then shrugged. “I mean, that’s an option…We can look into it.”
So the rest of you made your way to the plane wreckage, and, until that moment, you had forgotten about one crucial player who had been on the thing when it went down. Angel.
He was sticking out of the wreckage, his upper half pretty badly burned. You walked closer, carefully climbing through rubble.
“(Y/N), be careful!” The professor warned.
“Is he…?” Kurt asked, his voice quiet.
“No, I…” You got a bit closer, leaning into that extra sense of yours. “I think he’s alive. Barely.”
“His wings are damaged.” Hank said, looking him over as well. “He’s probably going to need surgery.”
“Are we seriously debating saving him? He tried to kill us.” Scott pointed out, not entirely convinced this was the best idea.
“So did she.” You motioned to Ororo, who was hesitantly following the rest of you in the hopes of getting out of there. “People change.”
You walked closer and knelt down, Kurt following you.
“Kurt, could you teleport him out of the wreck?”
“I think so.” He nodded and touched the angel’s arm, poofing him to where the ground was flat. You let your wings emerge and floated down from the pile of rubble to where Kurt had moved him. Meanwhile, Hank set to work repairing the plane with the aid of Jean’s telekinesis.
“I might pass out while I’m doing this, alright?” You warned Kurt. “I’ll be okay, though, I promise.”
Kurt looked hesitant, but nodded, his eyes focused on you while you reached forward, a hand hovering over the Angel’s chest, your power seeping into him as you examined him closer. The metal wings emerging from his back were broken off near the root of them. It looked like it had been painful. He had tattoos etched along the edge of his face.
“I know him.” Kurt admitted softly, watching for any sign of life on this rival of his’ face. “He was at the fight club where they took me. I…I burned his wings. I didn’t mean to, but I had to.”
“But they’re metal,” you said, confused.
Kurt shook his head. “They weren’t always. They were feathers. Beautiful. He really did look like ein Engel.” He looked so guilty when he said it.
“It’s not your fault.” You told him. “You didn’t have a choice.”
Kurt nodded, but he didn’t say anything, just watching for any twitch of movement. And then, finally, the angel’s chest heaved with a breath and his eyes shot open. He sat up with a groan, flinching away from you, but regretting it immediately, as all of his pain came flooding back as soon as he was out of the range of your powers.
“He lives!” Peter exclaimed, zooming over. He looked at you for what was probably the first time. “Hey, cool powers. Does it work on any injury?”
“Pretty much.” You shrugged, feeling a little dizzy, but not overwhelmingly so. As you sat back a bit, Kurt put an arm around you for support. “Within reason, I mean.”
“You…?” Angel said slowly, visibly still in pain. “You helped me.”
“Yeah.” You shrugged. “I told you, we’re on the same side. Now get back over here so I can treat your burns.”
***
Things got back to normal-ish way sooner than you expected. Jean and Magneto put the school back together in a single afternoon, and you helped all of the other students get readjusted. This included Warren, the Angel, who, Hank was right, needed surgery to remove the broken remnants of his metal wings.
He’d been on painkillers for a week because you’d been resting up after everything in Cairo, but now you were finally ready to help Hank with the procedure.
You walked into the infirmary to find Warren there sitting on the bed, in a gown, his arms crossed and a vacant look on his face. His eyes flicked up to yours once the door opened.
“How are you doing?”
He shrugged. “As well as I can, I guess. Not in too much pain.” You could have sworn he smirked the tiniest bit. “They’ve got me on the good stuff.”
“Good. I’m sure it would be awful if you weren’t.” You tucked a piece of hair behind your ear and looked over his chart. Hank walked in not long after.
“Oh good, you’re here.” He said to you. He was holding a binder in his hands and his eyes flicked nervously between you and Warren. “So, I was analyzing the samples I took when we first brought you here, and I didn’t want to get your hopes up—this is also the reason I insisted (Y/N) fully rested before we attempted anything—but it seems your natural wings and bones are…well, they’re trying to regrow. If we remove the metal, there’s a chance that—”
“That I’ll have wings again.” Warren finished quietly. “That they’ll go back to the way they were before?”
“Yes.” Hank confirmed, nodding.
“Well in that case…Do whatever you have to do to me.” Warren stared at the end of his bed. “I think it’s worth the risk.”
“Perfect. I’ll go get the operation room prepped.” Hank nodded and left the two of you alone again.
“How’s your soulmate?” Warren asked. He seemed genuine about it when he did. “That blue guy? Nightcrawler?”
“Oh, Kurt?” You said, laughing a little as you shook your head. “He’s not my soulmate.”
“Oh! I just assumed the two of you were—”
“I don’t turn twenty-one for another three months, so…even if he was, I wouldn’t know that yet.”
“Mmm.” Warren hummed, nodding. “Gotcha. Sorry I assumed—”
“It’s okay.” You shrugged. “No harm done.”
You prepped the IV with the anesthesia in it. “Well, Angel—”
“Warren.” He interrupted, looking unsure of himself when he did. You had a feeling it’d been a long time since anyone had called him that. “My name is Warren.”
“Well, Warren, I’ll see you on the other side, then.”
***
The procedure went without a hitch, and although you were drained from growing a pair of giant feather-covered wings basically from scratch, you were fine. You both were. You walked into the cafeteria for dinner that night looking very tired and weak. Kurt teleported in front of you, looking you over with concern.
“Are you alright? How did it go?”
“It went great! I’m just tired.” You said, reaching out to touch his arm so he could take both of you back to the table. In a puff of smoke, you were sitting at the round table with the others. “Big jobs like that tend to wipe me out.”
“And is he…” Jubilee started, looking around and lowering her voice. “Still…”
“I regrew his wings. His original wings. From scratch. That’s why it took so long.” You said, chuckling. “I could use some caffeine.”
Before you could even blink, Peter came back with a can of Redbull.
“Thanks.”
“You’re a miracle worker,” Jean teased, a proud grin on her face.
“Something like that.”
Jubilee’s eyes widened as she looked up at the entrance to the cafeteria. “Don’t look now, but…he’s here.”
You blinked a few times, focusing intensely on opening your can of desperately-needed energy drink.
“Holy shit, you did that yourself?” Peter asked looking up at Warren’s very much in-tact wings. “Impressive. Do you think if my leg fell off, you’d be able to grow me a new one?”
“I don’t think so.” You chuckled. “His wings were already regenerating. That’s why I was able to help him grow new ones. I’m just surprised I managed to get it all done in one day.”
Warren walked through the line, got some food, and then looked around the cafeteria for somewhere to sit. Just before he left to go eat alone in his room, Kurt waved him over. Warren thought about it for a long moment, hesitating. But then he saw you and Ororo sitting there with the rest of them and decided to give it a shot.
“Mind if I sit with you?”
“You can sit with us.” You nodded, motioning to the only empty spot, the one across from you.
He nodded and slid into place.
“How are you feeling?”
“Normal.” He said, pausing before continuing, “which is weird, all things considered. I’m not even tired.”
“My powers seem to have that effect on people, yeah.” You took a sip of your drink. “How are your wings doing?”
“They’re sore, but that’s normal. It happens every—” He stopped himself, shrugging. “Just sometimes, you know?”
“Yeah.”
“Hey, Angel, we’re thinking about having a bonfire tonight.” Jubilee said, raising an eyebrow. “You’re welcome to join us if you want. We’ll have s’mores and soda and stuff.”
Scott made a weird face, but Jean elbowed him before Warren noticed.
“I don’t know—”
“We have weenies to roast.” Peter said, disappearing for a single second only to return with a package of uncooked hotdogs. “The true American experience.” He nudged Kurt. “For ‘lil Kurt here.”
“He’s taller than you. By a lot.” You laughed at the face Peter made when you said it and he muttered something before running off to refrigerate the hot dogs until later. Kurt got a laugh out of it, too.
“Where are you doing this?”
***
It was the perfect night for this sort of thing, you decided. The sky was clear enough to make out each individual star, and there was a little breeze, but it wasn’t too chilly, even though it was dark. You’d made a fire out near the edge of campus, and the boys had pulled up some logs for you all to sit on.
You were sitting over by the cooler, watching the flames as they slowly ate at the wood. So far everyone was there. Everyone except Warren. Peter had brought his boom box out so the rest of you could listen to music. Jubilee had taken it over almost immediately and was playing ABBA, which you didn’t mind.
“Is this seat taken?” It was Warren’s voice, deep and quiet, right behind you.
“I didn’t think you’d make it.” You looked up at him, smiling.
“I didn’t think you would either, honestly.” He said swinging one leg over the log and then the other before sitting next to you. “You look exhausted.”
You laughed dryly. “I am. I should have taken a nap when I had the chance.”
“Thank you, by the way. For this.” His wings fluttered the tiniest bit when he said it.
Of course.” You nodded. For a moment, you let your own wings shimmer into existence before making them disappear again. “Us winged folk have got to stick together.”
“Warren! You made it!” Peter rushed over, handing Warren a hotdog on a stick to be roasted. “One weenie, as promised.”
Warren laughed. “Thanks.”
Kurt walked over to you, holding up his marshmallow, which was barely approaching golden. “Is this cooked enough?”
“A little more, I think, but that’s just how I like mine. As long as it’s pretty warm, it’ll still make the chocolate all melty.”
Kurt nodded, holding the marshmallow a little closer to the flames for a little longer to get a little more color on it. The three of you were quiet for a long moment, Warren on your left side, Kurt on your right, the fire crackling calmingly. “Dancing in the Moonlight” started playing on the boom box, interrupting Jubilee’s ABBA music, but for good reason. You loved that song and couldn’t help but sway a little while it was playing.
“This isn’t the first time my wings have grown back.” Warren said quietly. The way he said it made it sound like he was unburdening something to the two of you he hadn’t told anyone in a long time. “When…when they first grew in, my…parents had them removed. Surgically. They thought that would fix it. Fix me. But…mutations don’t work like that, it turns out. It took three months of the worst pain of my life—well, until Cairo at least—but they grew back in. After that, they gave up. Just…made me cover them up when we went out.”
“Wow.” You said, your voice swallowed up by the sounds around you. “Holy shit, Warren. I’m…so sorry that happened to you.”
“Yeah, so am I. But, I think you healing me today affirmed what I’ve known…There’s…” He let out a huge sigh, his voice wavering. “There’s nothing wrong with me.”
You reached over and rested your hand on top of his, smiling softly. Kurt looked over, a gentle look in his eyes. “There’s nothing wrong with you, Warren.”
Warren’s wing settled around your shoulders, the ends of his feathers reaching Kurt’s shoulders as well. There was warmth in that moment, and not just from the fire. But you suspected that with the two of them around…that warmth wasn’t going to go away any time soon.
***
It was an incredibly hot summer’s day and your birthday approached ever quicker. It was only a month away now, and something you couldn’t help but think about in passing. Every time you did, the place on your arm where you mark would once be began to tingle ever so slightly.
“Earth to (Y/N)?” Peter waved a hand in your face, causing you to snap out of your thoughts.
“What, Maximoff?” You asked, looking up at him from your spot under the shadiest tree in the yard.
“Everyone’s hanging out by the pool. Jean sent me to get you.”
“Oh. Co—”
Before you could finish that thought, your surroundings changed entirely and suddenly you were dumped on a lounge chair beside the campus’ pool, nauseous as hell. Scott, Ororo, and Jean were currently in the water splashing each other and Jubilee was on the chair beside you. Over in the corner, Warren was perched on a barstool, sipping on what appeared to be a Shirley Temple. He tended to perch a lot, you noticed.
“Peter I swear, the next time you do that, I’m gonna puke.” You took a breath, willing your body to settle after being rushed there faster than the speed of light.
“Promise?”
“Ew.” Jubilee grimaced, shaking her head. She looked at you. “How are you holding up in this heat?”
“A little better now.” You shrugged. “Aside from the nausea, that is.” You looked around again, running a tally in your head. “Where’s Kurt?”
“He went upstairs to change into his swim trunks.” Jean replied. “Should be back any—”
In a puff of smoke, Kurt appeared about ten feet above the deep end, doing a flip before landing in the pool with a splash. He surfaced a few seconds later, a giant grin on his face. Meanwhile Warren shook the water droplets out of his wings, looking mildly annoyed.
Peter clapped, now holding up a sign with a 10 on it. “Perfect technique, Wagner. A very well-executed flip.”
“Thank you.” Kurt chuckled. He looked up at you and immediately, his smile, somehow, got even brighter. With another puff of smoke, he was beside you, dripping water onto the concrete. “How are you doing today?”
“I’m doing good! It’s really hot out today, huh?”
“Ja.” Kurt nodded. He glanced at Warren at the bar and then back at you. “Do you want a drink?”
“Sure!” You looked up at Warren, who looked lost in thought, somewhat flustered. “Hey Worthington, what are you sipping on over there?”
“Huh? Oh. Shirley Temple.” He replied, a smirk finding his features. “Want me to make you one?”
“If you want to.”
Warren nodded, setting down his drink and stepping behind the bar. God, he was so hot. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, the front of it open, revealing the abs you never realized he had. And of course, his massive biceps were on full display in those short sleeves. What a hunk.
Hmmmmm, interesting… you heard Jean’s voice in your head and immediately your cheeks reddened.
Jean… You thought, your tone warning.
I already knew. We all did. You’re not exactly subtle. But uh…what’s going on with you and Kurt?
You eyebrows furrowed. You looked at him. He was sitting on the edge of the pool now, his legs kicking in the water. Where Warren was beefy, his muscles carefully curated with hours of exercise outside of your normal training, Kurt was all lean muscle, tall and agile. You still held to the reality that his eyes were the most beautiful you’d ever seen, and his smile outshined the brightest stars in the sky, his pointed teeth only adding to his charm.
Your soulmate sure has a lot to live up to, huh? Jean asked, only now realizing the full scope of the emotions you felt.
You sighed. You’re telling me…
***
It was a week out from your birthday and the group had ventured once again to the mall. It had become something of a weekly thing, but this trip was extra special, as you’d be picking out something to wear to the party Jubilee insisted on throwing you. And, unbeknownst to you, it was also the day the two mutants you held nearest and dearest to your heart would be finding birthday presents for you.
The plan was to divide and conquer. Jubilee, Peter, and Jean went with you while Ororo, Scott, Warren, and Kurt went off on their own to “look at records.”
Jubilee pulled a top off of the rack and held it up to you, tilting her head for a moment before frowning and putting it back. You chuckled.
“What kind of party even is this, Jubes? I’m sure I have something suitable laying around.”
“Well, sure you do, but it’s special! It’s your twenty-first! Which means…”
“Right.” You nodded. “I know. I mean, if they’re younger than me, then there’s a chance it won’t show up anyway.”
“But it’s a fifty-fifty shot.” Peter pointed out, shrugging. “Pretty likely it will.”
“It’s just as likely that it won’t.” Jean countered.
Your heart raced at the thought. Of something so monumental coming up so fast. The universe finally revealing to you your other half. It was…nerve-wracking to say the least. Jean seemed to notice this shift in you and walked closer, touching your arm.
“You okay?” She asked.
You nodded, shuffling through the rack of clothes in front of you. “I’m good. It’s just a lot, you know?”
Jean did know. She and Scott had only recently found out that they were soulmates (of no surprise to anyone around them) on Scott’s twenty-first. They were good together and they were working it out, but for you, there was no way to know if whoever your soulmate was would be a good fit with you. Maybe they weren’t open to mutants. And worse yet, there was the issue of the two crushes you were already harboring. But somehow you had to figure it out. All of it. And now, you only had a week to do so.
Meanwhile, across the mall, Warren browsed a shelf of books at the Barnes & Noble, trying, for the life of him, to pick one that you’d like. He’d caught you reading countless times, but all of this romance novel nonsense was foreign to him.
“Have you found something yet?” Kurt asked, a similar look of panic on his own face.
Warren shook his head. “No. You?”
“No.” Kurt sighed, his tail drooping. “I don’t want to let them down.”
“Yeah, same.” Warren admitted, his feathers ruffling the tiniest bit in frustration.
“Warren.” Scott reached over and plucked a book off of the shelf, handing it to him. On the cover was a shirtless man with long, flowing golden hair, and behind him were an enormous pair of wings. It was…suggestive to say the least.
“Ugh, Scott.” Warren rolled his eyes and put the book back while Scott laughed.
“You two are overthinking it.” Ororo said, crossing her arms. “Whatever you get them will be good enough. (Y/N) isn’t materialistic. And…they obviously care about you. Something like a birthday present isn’t going to change that.”
“I know, but I—erm—we want to make it special for them.” Warren said while side glancing in Kurt’s direction.
Kurt looked at Warren, who was no longer looking at him, and nodded. Ororo looked between the two of them, something sparkling in her eyes. Maybe she knew something even the two of them hadn’t realized yet, but it didn’t take a rocket scientist to know there was more to their connection than what laid at the surface. If the way they’d met had shown anything, it was that they were intrinsically linked, pulled together by something much stronger than coincidence.
About twenty minutes later, the group left the bookstore empty-handed. According to Scott, Jean told him the rest of you were meeting in the food court to get some food. Their half of the group found yours relatively easily among the mall’s usual crowd.
“Find any cool records?” You asked Warren innocently.
He hesitated for a moment, forgetting that was the lie they’d told you so they could slip away. “Oh, uh, no, not today.”
“Bummer.” You chuckled.
“Eh, I’m not torn up about it. Jubes force you to buy something new to wear to your own birthday party?” He asked, smirking.
“Hey!” Jubilee protested.
“Yep!” You held up the shopping bag in question.
“It’s really cute, though.” Jubilee argued, trying to defend herself.
“It is.” You nodded.
“Hey I’m starving, are we getting food now, or…?” Peter asked, already looking around the food court to figure out what he’d eat first. Being a speedster, he had quite the appetite, given the amount of calories he burned every time he moved faster than the average person did. Which, in Peter’s case, was quite a bit.
“Yes, Peter, we’re getting food now.” Jubilee laughed, shaking her head.
***
It was weird how time worked, you mused. It was now the night before your twenty-first birthday. You were at the party Jubilee had thrown for you, sipping from a glass of cherry coke. As soon as midnight hit, you either would or wouldn’t get the mark that defined the rest of your existence. It was a lot to think about.
“Are you alright?”
It was Kurt. Of course it was Kurt. You looked up and met his concerned eyes.
“I’m hanging in there, yeah.” You let out a shaky sigh, tears welling in your eyes.
“Oh, hey, it’s okay!” Kurt said, reacting immediately. He guided your drink to the railing of the deck at the edge of the yard, where you were hiding out, and pulled you into his arms. You surrendered to his touch, wrapping your arms around him. You felt him rest his head against yours, holding you tight while he rubbed comforting circles on your back. “I know it’s scary, but…It’ll all work out, liebe. I promise.”
You sniffled, nodding against him. “Kurt?”
“Yeah?”
“Did…did you…?”
“I don’t have a mark yet, liebe.” He sighed, holding you a little tighter. “The moment came and went. I…” he chuckled to himself a little, “I check every morning, but…nothing yet.”
“How do you do it?” You asked, looking up at him.
He pulled away the slightest bit, stroking your cheek with his hand and gently wiping away your tears. “One morning at a time.”
You nodded and stared up at him for a long time. He was good at this, at comforting you. You knew that whoever Kurt’s soulmate was, they were incredibly lucky. And even still, there was a little piece of you that hoped it was you. But you’d have that answer one way or another in a few hours, you supposed.
“Go have fun. Take your mind off of it.” Kurt said and you smiled, nodding. “But if you need to talk, I’m always here.”
“Thank you.” You grabbed your drink and headed back out to the yard, greeted immediately by the cheers of the rest of your friends.
Meanwhile, on the deck, Warren walked up the steps and stood next to Kurt, his eyes locked on you and a glass of something a little sharper than soda in his hand.
“(Y/N) okay?” Warren asked, his arm just brushing Kurt’s on the railing.
Kurt nodded. “I think so.”
Warren looked over at Kurt, his eyes lingering on the teleporter’s before he asked, “are you okay?”
He nodded again before repeating, a little more unsure, “I think so.”
“Good.” Warren turned his attention back to the others, taking a long sip from his cup.
“Warren?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you…have a mark?”
“Nope.” Warren replied, smirking. His jacket was usually covering his arms anyway, so he was sure that information was a mystery to most of their friend group, if not all of them. “Lost track of time while I was in Berlin, but I’m twenty-two now. That day came and went and I never even noticed…”
Kurt nodded, quiet.
“Buddy, if you’re (Y/N)’s soulmate…I won’t be mad about it.” Warren said, fiddling with the cup in his hands. His wings were fidgeting due to the confession, tremors running through his feathers. Kurt could tell it was something Warren had been thinking about for a long time. “They deserve someone who’ll take care of them as good as you do.”
“You think I—”
“I think what the two of you have is special.” Warren said. It was the truth. He nudged Kurt’s arm with his own, earnest. “And if we’re being honest, I thought you two were soulmates after seeing the way you took care of each other in Cairo. It just…made sense. It still does.”
Kurt was quiet for a long moment, processing. “And…if you’re their soulmate…”
Warren scoffed, chuckling and shaking his head.
“I think you’d be perfect for them, too.” Kurt said, his heart racing in his chest. “You should see the way they look at you. It’s like something out of a movie.”
Warren nodded, but didn’t reply.
“And I’m sorry, Warren. For burning your wings. I—”
“You don’t have to feel bad about that anymore, Kurt.” Warren shook his head and reached over, tentatively resting his hand atop Kurt’s. “It’s not your fault. It was never your fault. And…” His wings fluffed up the tiniest bit as he spoke about them. “(Y/N) fixed me right up anyway.”
Kurt smiled, the weight of what he’d considered one of his greatest sins lifting off of his shoulders, leaving him unburdened on the warm summer night.
Warren motioned to all of their friends on the makeshift dance floor. “Now let’s get back out there with the others, yeah?”
***
It was finally time. Peter had run up to Jubilee and Jean’s room to retrieve a mirror so you could see the mark whenever it showed up. Any second now, your life would change forever. Or maybe it wouldn’t, and you would just have to wait and wait and wait for the day that it would.
But you had a feeling deep in your, well, your soul, that tonight was the night.
“Do you want a countdown?” Scott asked.
“No.” You covered your eyes with your left hand, as the mark would appear on your right arm. “Just tell me if it shows up. Or…or if it doesn’t.”
The next moments were agonizing and slow. Your leg bounced anxiously, waiting for anything, a gasp from one of your friends or a tingling sensation on your arm…any sign that it was happening. And then, slowly, a tickle swirled along your bicep, tracing out what felt like a very complicated soulmark. You were shaking now.
“Is it…?”
“Oh my god.” Jubilee said, covering her mouth with her hand. “Oh my god!”
You pulled your hand away from your eyes and turned to look. There was a mark alright. On it were two wings. One, the one on the left, resembled that of a butterfly, not unlike your own wings. The other, made of feathers, matched up next to the first. And then, gently, a very familiar spaded tail curled around them.
You looked at Kurt first, the tail in question wavering behind him nervously as he rolled up his sleeve high enough to check for a mark in the spot you’d received yours. Sure enough, there was an identical mark there, shimmering against his blue skin.
You burst into happy tears, immediately reaching for him. Kurt hugged you, lifting you off of the ground in the process. Meanwhile, Warren was frozen in place, Ororo and Jubilee trying to get his leather jacket off of him in order to check his arm as well. A few long moments later, he snapped out of his daze and helped them, sliding his wings out of the holes effortlessly.
He didn’t expect it to be true. It was…simply too good to be true. It had to be a dream, or maybe you and Kurt were tethered to another mystery mutant with wings like his, but sure enough, his bicep was branded with the same mark as you and Kurt. A soulmark, even after all of this time.
The two of you broke your embrace to look at him and Warren stood there with tears in his eyes, stunned in disbelief until you wrapped your arms around him, your head resting against his broad chest. Warren wrapped one arm around you while the other reached out for Kurt, beckoning him to join, and he did without hesitation. Once you were all huddled together, Warren’s wings slowly closed around the two of you, his soulmates.
And finally, it all felt right. Every twist in the path that had led all of you to that moment made sense. Kurt and Warren had always been your destiny, just as they had been each other’s.
“Did you know this could happen?” Peter asked Scott under his breath, looking on as three of their friends all simultaneously started dating each other.
“No, did you?”
“No, but…it makes a lot of sense.” Peter smiled. “I think they’re good for each other.”
Jean smiled that ever-knowing smile of hers. “I think so too, Maximoff.”

pls pls pls do this as a crack fic!!
I could imagine it going something like this..
Good things fit in small spaces
Paring: Chris Evans x Short!girlfriend reader
Warning: pure crack, some swearing.
Summary: chris finds it too funny that short! Reader can fit in to the most stupidest small spaces ever, don’t get me wrong it helpful but it’s too funny. Here is 2 times chris has either came home and found reader like this or needs her to help him with small spaces.
Tumblr media
The first time:
I walked in to the house after being on set for ‘hustlers’ and I had the weekend off, y/n didn’t know I was coming home.
All the lights were off as I walked though the house but when I got to the kitchen I look around trying to find y/n and all I can do is chuckle at how she’s managed to get into the small cupboard that was big enough for her to comfortably sit in and she’d sometimes hide round the house when she needed a break or just wasn’t feeling the best, all because she knew I wouldn’t be able to fit.
“Hey bubs, uh what goin on why are you in the cupboard hmm” I ask whilst laughing at what she looks like in the cupboard.
“Ahhhh! Ow Chris what the fuck are you doing here? Aren’t you meant to be filming?” She asked whilst she smacked her head on the cupboard door whilst climbing down to come and give me a hug.
Laughing at her reaction whilst checking she’s okay, i explain that I got the week off because of the hurricanes going though Florida right now. She just hugged me and walked off, to most likely go hide again in a different room in the house. There was too many to count it’s like a ‘where’s Wally’ game just with y/n and to be honest it was too funny to even try and guess where she was. Even Scott was confused the first time he found her in a cupboard in the kitchen whilst looking for some hot sauce he definitely got the scare of his life.
Tumblr media
The second time:
Chris was putting a piece of art work he’d gotten for a present from his sisters up in his living room the only problem was that he couldn’t get his hand behind the storage unit that sat resident below where he wanted to put it up. This is where y/ns 5 ft butt comes into save the day.
“Babe, can you come here please?” Chris yelled from the living room.
“Yeah bubs, what’s wrong?” She replied walking into the room with her hair in a messy claw clip wearing one of chris’ T-shirts
“I need your small superpowers please, I can’t get behind the unit” Chris murmured the superpower bit knowing y/n would get a kick out of what he said you know him being Captain America and all.
“Oh yeah mr Americas ass needs my help, oh wow his serum must be going through some serious stuff right now if he needs little old me to help.” Y/n started laughing half way though that sentence running round the room since Chris is now chasing her to tickle her since mr america needs no small lady superpowers.
“Come’ere you cheeky little short stack” he chuckles as he runs to catch her and dodger chasing behind him barking at all of the laughs and screams.
“No - Chris no- Ahhhh.. no no no St- stop please” y/n tries to plead with Chris to stop tickling her
“Say sorry. Say mr Americas ass still has his superpowers and just needs his amazing sweet sidekick” Chris says laughing at her giggles, it’s so infectious her laugh and her smile it just makes him feel amazing.
“Fi-ne I’m - I’m sorry, mr Americas ass still- has his superpowers and he just- needs his amazing sweet sidekick” She breathes heavily after he finally stops tickling her, chris just hugs her and kisses her on her forehead after the little game of ‘let’s chase short stack around the house’ they finally got the picture up and y/n was dizzy after all of that so they just cuddled on the couch together with tangled playing on in the background, the warmth of being in chris’ embrace lulling her to sleep.

Hunted
Paring: Liam Dunbar x reader
Warnings: None…
Chapter: 6.01
Leaning against the hood of Liam’s light blue truck, you watch as leaves fall from a tree, the moonlight illuminating them as they sway in the wind. You let out a sigh, wondering if your dad is looking at the moon as well. When the hunters who were previously looking for Derek managed to track him back to the beacon hills, he went on the run, promising to be back soon.
That was nearly two months ago.
Despite spending most of your life in boarding schools, you had never felt more alone than when your dad and uncle Chris left town. You finally experienced what it was like to have a normal family, only for it to be ripped away from you. Luckily, your pack made sure you never felt alone for long.
Liam looks up at you and sighs, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
“I’m sorry, instead of cheering you up, we’ve wasted a night.”
Looking into Liam’s eyes, you could see how genuinely bad he felt that your date night hadn’t gone according to plan. You reach for the collar of his jacket and pull him into you. “You’re so sweet.”
The kiss takes him by surprise; he smiles when you break apart. “What was that for?”
“Trying to cheer me up,” you chuckle. “Besides, your car breaking down is far from the worst date we have ever had.”
“I suppose so—wow, what’s that?” He points up at the sky.
You beam, knowing what it is by the green colors. “It’s the Northern Lights; it’s beautiful.”
Hearing a vehicle approach, you turn back to see a car slowing down on the road leading to where you were parked. “Maybe they think we need help?”
Liam snorts, “We do need help; neither of us knows how to change a tire.”
The car came to a halt when it hit the wooden fence at the side of the road. You looked through the window, confused, and said, “There’s no driver, and the front window is smashed.”
Liam opens the driver's side door and leans in to turn the engine off. “The other door has been completely ripped off- hey!”
He jumps back as a young boy climbs out of the back street; he’s in such a rush he doesn’t notice you and crashes into you. “Hey, hey, you're okay.”
He looks up at you, petrified, and says, “Don’t let them take me. Don't let them take me too.”
“We won’t,” you force a smile, trying to hide how nervous you were, and you offer the boy your hand. “Come on, I know someone who can help you.”
Goosebumps spread across your body as you looked around, feeling as if someone was watching you. You urge the kid to get into the back of the car while Liam struggles to change the tire, and you keep watch.
“I think someone is watching us,” you say in a low enough voice that only Liam could hear you.
He stands and scans the area, his eyes glowing yellow. “I can’t see anything; your mind could be playing tricks on you. This whole thing is pretty creepy.”
Eventually, you take the kid to meet Sheriff Stilinski at the police station, then call Stiles to let him know what's going on.
“There’s something wrong with the windshield,” Stiles says, looking at the photo he pinned to the fridge with a magnet. He had taken pictures at the impound lot of the car you found Alex in earlier.
Placing two bowls on the table before sitting down, you motion for him to join you, knowing that if you didn't, he wouldn’t eat. “It was just so freaky. I felt as if someone was watching us from the moment we found the kid, but I couldn’t hear, see, or smell anyone, but I knew someone or something was there. What does Scott think?”
Stiles sits down across from you and says, “That it’s not supernatural.”
“But you do.”
He nods, saying, “Lydia doesn’t think his parents are dead, just gone. People don’t just disappear in this town without a trace unless something supernatural is involved.”
You hum in agreement. “I’ll help you look into... at a reasonable time. Last time we went galavanting on a school night, I fell asleep in physics.”
“Yeah, you've got to look fresh for the yearbook pictures tomorrow.”
“This is so good,” you say, changing the subject while spinning spaghetti on your fork. “Liam’s mom has got to share more of her recipes with me.”
Stiles narrows his eyes, knowing you were still avoiding the topic of your last name being legally changed.
“Stiles…”
“Lu…” he says in a sarcastic tone. His face softens as he gives you a sympathetic smile and says, “I’m here when you want to talk about it, okay? No judgment.”
Over the last few months, Stiles had taken on a different role in your life; he had become the brother you never had.
You smile and say, “Thank you.”
You feel your heavy eyes starting to close over as your new science teacher, Mr. Douglas, draws a cat on the blackboard. After Stiles left the night before, you went to the impound lot to look at the car for yourself. He was right; there was something off. The windshield was cracked by a bullet, but if a gun had been fired, there would have been traces of blood left behind, but there weren’t. You’d come to the conclusion that whatever happened was definitely something supernatural.
“You went out last night, didn’t you?” Liam whispers, with a disapproving look on his face. He hated it when you went out at night alone.
“Yeah, I just needed to look it over myself.”
“Did you find anything?”
Shaking your head, you sigh, “no, and that’s the problem. There should have been-” You look to your left when Hayden starts giggling at something your teacher says; you personally don’t see the appeal of Mr. Douglas, but every other girl in the class does. Mr. Douglas told the class to split into groups to discuss the project, and you were glad because you hadn’t listened to a word he said.
You face Liam again and continue, “Blood. Something else is going on; I just don’t know what this is.”
He laughs while moving his chair to fit around the table, “You sound like Stiles.”
Mason holds up his phone, showing you his compass app. “Have any of you guys noticed that phones can't geolocate today?”
“It’s not something I often check,” you shrug.
Liam looks at him confused, pointing to the needle on the screen, and says, “Looks like it works...”
“Yeah, but that’s not north.” Mason points towards the chalkboard at the other end of the room and says, “That is.”
You and Corey both pull out your phones and check them; both of them were pointing in the wrong direction as well. “Maybe it’s a glitch?”
Mason looks over at a cabinet at the back of the class and says, “Mr. Douglas has a compass.”
Corey smirks at him, making sure nobody else is watching, and places his hand on the work table, allowing himself to become invisible. He slowly makes his way to the cabinet and opens it, taking the compass, which he makes invisible by touching it, before closing the door and walking back to your group. One at a time, he gives the compass to Mason.
“What are you going to do with it?” Hayden asks.
“Follow it!” Mason says excitedly. “Who’s in?”
The brunette's face begins to twist. “Is that a good idea? We don’t know where it will lead you.”
“That’s the fun part,” you say playfully. “I’m most definitely in.”
“I hate this. I think we should turn back.”
Turning back, you smile at your boyfriend, who is giving you a pleading look. You squeeze his hand and say, “Come on, we will just have a quick look inside then we will go.”
“This is the part where a psycho killer in a mask pops up.”
“I told you watching all those horror films was a bad idea,” Mason says. He lets out a deep breath before opening the unlocked door of the house that the compasses were all pointing to.
The three of you creep inside, trying to be as quiet as you can, but as soon as you turn the corner into the foyer, Scott runs into you. He stares at the three of you in shock.
“What in the world are you doing here?” Liam asks.
“This is Alex's house. What are you doing here?”
You step forward and show him the compass, saying, “This is where it led us.”
Scott frowns, watching as the needle on the compass spins round, “Is it broken?”
“It’s-” you cut yourself off, sensing distress coming from somewhere in the house. You drop the compass and rush towards the staircase, leaving the others confused behind you.
“Lulana?” Liam calls out before following after you. “What’s going on?”
“Stiles!” You find him ducking down in front of one of the doors in the hallway. “What the hell is going on?”
He lowers his hands that are covering his face while catching his breath, just as Liam and Scott come up the stairs behind you. “He was here. He shot at me!” He points at bullet holes on the door behind him, saying, “It was one of the guys you saw in Alex's memory.”
“You saw who took his parents?”
“No, no, no... They weren't just taken; they were made to disappear. That's why there's no furniture, and that's why they weren't in any of the photos... They were erased.”
Scott and Stiles share a look before quickly heading into a bedroom on the opposite end of the hallway. When they open the door, you're surprised to see the room is completely empty. “What are we supposed to be looking at?”
“This was Alex’s room.”
Your stomach drops. The room didn’t have any pictures, toys, clothes, or even a bed. There was no evidence a kid ever stayed in it. No evidence Alex even existed. He had vanished along with his parents.
You scowl while listening to your most recent voicemail from Liam. He was panicking. The realization that the older members of the pack were leaving soon was causing him to spin; he didn’t think he was smart enough to figure out the supernatural issues on his own. Liam was one of the kindest people you’d ever known; it was one of the many things you loved about him. You believed he was more than capable of taking on an alpha role; he just needed to believe in himself.
“There he is!” Stiles sees Scott while he walks away off the lacrosse field. “Scott? Scott! Hey! Hey, it's called the Wild Hunt. It's a myth... Only apparently, it's real, like every other myth in this town that should really remain a nightmare.”
Scott glances at you bewildered, then realizes what Stiles is talking about, stops walking, and looks him in the eyes. “The guy on the horse?”
“Yeah, they call them Ghost Riders.”
You cut him off when you spot a lacrosse player wearing his jersey. “Uh Stiles, sorry to interrupt, but he’s wearing your kit.”
Stiles shouts over at the lacrosse player, “Hey! That's my jersey! Where'd you get that?”
The boy shrugs. “Coach gave it to me at practice.”
Irritated Stiles turns to Scott and says, “We had practice! Why doesn't anyone tell me anything?”
Scott sighs, patting Stiles on the back. “Why would the Ghost Riders want to take Alex's parents?”
“Because that's what they do.They take people, okay? They run around, collecting souls, and once they take you, you're gone.”
“But it's not just you—it's everything about you,” you add.
Since Stiles filled you in on the ghost riders, you have been officially terrified. The idea of vanishing as if you had never lived was awful.
“Yeah, like how they took Alex's room.”
Scott stops walking again. “Does that mean Alex is next?”
The alarm in his voice was obvious; Alex would be the ghost riders' next target. “I’ll go get Liam and Mason.”
You pause while washing your hands in the school's bathroom; you can’t remember why you were in such a rush before. You dry your hands before pulling your phone out of your pocket and looking at your most recent texts. You had multiple text messages that hadn't been sent to a number you recognized.
Strange.
Annoyed, you attempt to call the number multiple times, then try Googling it, but nothing comes up. It was gnawing at you that you had tried to text a number that didn’t exist.
You exit the bathroom and walk down the hallway, smiling as you spot Liam, Hayden, and Mason. You notice them talking to a guy you’ve never seen before but think nothing of it.
“Hi,” you say, kissing Liam on the cheek. His face was slightly flustered.
“Thank god, Lu,” the brunette-haired boy steps forward and holds onto your wrist. “The ghost riders took Alex! You and Liam are next.”
You take a step back, but he holds on to you. “What?”
The boy stares at you blankly before mumbling to himself, “My blank yearbook photo. My jersey. It's happening to me.” The boy pulls a pen from his back pocket and starts to write on the back of your hand. “Lulana, you need to—”
Before he can finish his sentence, Liam steps in between you and pushes him back. Not hard enough to hurt him, but enough to scare him. “Do you know him?”
“No, I’ve never met him before. I've no idea how he knows my name.”
The boy looks at you with tears of fear in his eyes. “You don’t remember…”
“I’m sorry, I don't think we’ve met before.”
Spotting the sheriff on the other end of the hallway, the brunette takes off without telling you his name. Liam wraps his arm around your waist and asks, “You okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” you look down at the back of your hand, trying to figure out what the words were meant to mean.

Is it to late to say that the X-Men have essentially lost any humanity they had?
"The X-Men are human, just as much as they are mutant - that's the way it's always been, regardless of how much anti-human sentiment various malefactors may wish to stir up.
The separation between human and mutant is minor, a variation in chromosomes, and to proselytise that the X-Men have lost their humanity is, frankly, offensive.
My name is Henry Philip McCoy, I was born in Illinois in 1986, and I'm just as human as you are, regardless of what I may look like and what I can do."
Tumblr media
"Humanity is a babbling, screaming broth of prejudice, violence, lesser intelligences - it's only by the foolish grace of soft hearted mutants that they survive. Divesting ourselves of what made us human was merely a divestment of what made us weak.
Freedom from their irksome, cruel laws; total separation from their squabbling, their illogic, their weakness; the assertion of our genetically assigned right to succeed them as the inheritors of this planet, this is what makes us strong. This is what makes us mutant."
Tumblr media
So, like, X-Force Beast is a raving fucking lunatic, and I don't feel it's out of character for him to spout this kind of rhetoric - in his reinvention of himself as the necessary bastard for Krakoa, in his process of becoming a born again, hardline mutant rights 'champion,' I feel like it makes sense that he'd be very aggressive about being seen to be a separatist from humankind. It makes 'sense' from a security viewpoint, and it means less emotional ties to potential vulnerabilities, such as old friends, old colleagues - his parents.
That being said, I also do it because I want to remind everyone that Krakoa is very much a dystopia, no matter how pretty the palm trees are and how idyllic the life seems, and there is some fucked up shit that just crept in there. Every single time I heard a character say, oh, that's so human of you, or some variation on that theme, I wanted to start punching the X-Men in the head because fuck you.
But in a good way, to be fair, like, in the way that you hear an obvious cultist say a culty thing and you're like, wow, bro, you're in a fucking cult, maybe you should un-cult yourself before you wreck yourself.
I also feel like it bears pointing out that a lot of the X-Men did NOT do that - people like Jubilee, for instance, whose kid Shogo is just a straight up human, and I very much fuckin' doubt that Jean-Paul Beaubier got away with that kind of shit in his household. And as time went on, I think a good few of them stopped chugging the Kool-Aid and started to realise, hey, did we just become the baddies?
Like, that's the thrust of why Scott and Jean restart the X-Men proper after the team was disbanded, was that feeling of, we need to go out there and save people because regardless of what people can tell us about who or what we are, every mutant had human family that they cared for or loved at some point. Scott's parents were both human, as were Jean's. Hank's parents were two of the loveliest humans you could ever meet. Even Magneto had Anya Eisenhardt.
Most of the X-Men are still very, very human, regardless of how much they might want to occasionally pretend otherwise - hell, you could even point out that the 'least' human among them, people like Magik, aren't even inhuman because of their mutant gifts necessarily, but because of entirely OTHER things that happened to them to change the way they are (though, granted, in Illyana's case, it was at least partly related to her gifts, but you know what I mean).
If not for the Hellfire Gala Massacre, I'm pretty sure a big contingent of people, led by Scott and Jean, were going to plan a breakaway from the Quiet Council led structure of Krakoa and form a new government, or at least push for a reformation of society that was less. Gross. Which means it'll be interesting to see what bearing those trajectories have on what comes after the Fall of X arc is done.

✨Guess who just read X-Men: Children of the Atom (1999)?✨
Here’s some incorrect quotes for these dumb children that I adore.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
*in the Danger Room*
Bobby: Is anyone else scared?
Scott: Not really. I’ve already lived longer than I expected.
— — — — —
Jean: We call that a traumatic event!
Hank, turning to Scott: Not a “Yikes” moment!
Hank, turning to Warren: Or a “Major L”!
Hank, turning to Bobby: Or an “Ooph lmao”!
— — — — —
Warren: How much sleep did you get?
Scott: Like eight.
Warren: Hours?
Scott: Minutes.
— — — — —
Warren: Scott, I don’t know to tell you this, but you’re in love with me.
Scott: I am?
Scott:
Scott: Oh my god, I am!
Hank: What kind of confession am I witnessing?
— — — — —
Scott: Due to personal reasons, I will be sinking to the bottom of the ocean in a large metal box.
Bobby: Warren said “I love you” and you said “Thank you”, didn’t you?
Scott: The reasons are pERSONAL!
— — — — —
Jean: I can’t believe you’re training today, Scott. Why aren’t you in bed?
Scott, with his voice clearly gone: I feel fine.
Bobby: That’s what we’re going to put on his gravestone. “He felt fine”.
— — — — —
Magneto: I will spare you misguided children if you are able to answer these riddles. He who makes me doesn’t want me. He who buys me doesn’t need me. He who uses me doesn’t care. What am I?
Scott: A child!
Magneto: Jesus Christ that’s dark. Are you okay? Do you need a heart-to-heart talk about this?
— — — — —
Warren: Okay, here’s the plan. First, we set off the fire alarms—
Hank: Warren, we can’t set off an alarm if there’s no fire; we’ll get in trouble!
Warren: Okay, fine. First, we’ll start a fire—
— — — — —
Warren: Do you ever get that feeling when you look at someone and your heart skips a beat?
Scott: That’s called arrhythmia.
Warren: I get that feeling every time I see you—
Scott: You can die from that.
Warren: I know you’re smart, but can you please stop for one second?
— — — — —
Scott: What do you even see in me…?
Warren: You should sit down.
Warren: {takes out an endless list}
Scott: Wha—
Warren: Let’s begin from the first time I saw your eyes (read: glasses) glimmering while you sat next to the class’s window—
— — — — —
Hank: So Jean! Our dear friend and teammate!
Bobby: We just wanted to remind you of how much you love us!
Warren: And how boring your life would be without us!
Jean, completely done: What did you do?
— — — — —
Warren: We’re just…
Scott: Working!
Warren: Yes! We were just working…together…independently…
Jean: So. You two work without your clothes on?
— — — — —
Bobby: We could be killed!
Warren: Or worse, the professor could give us another lecture on “responsibility”!
— — — — —
Warren: I have an idea.
Jean: A good one?
Warren: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
— — — — —
Scott: Oh wow, this computer is huge.
Warren: Yeah, almost as big as my dic—
Scott: What?
Warren: —tionary…
— — — — —
Hank: What’s wrong with you?
Scott: Off the top of my head, I’d say low self-esteem, a lack of paternal affection, and a genetic predisposition for anxiety and depression.
— — — — —
Bobby: If I cut off my foot and, like, swing it at you, am I kicking you or hitting you?
Hank: You’ll most likely mentally scar me more than anything.
— — — — —
Warren: {flirts with Scott}
Scott: {flirts back}
Warren: Well, I wasn’t prepared for this outcome.
— — — — —
Xavier: What could be giving you anxiety?
Scott: Umm, let’s see. Every aspect of my life.
— — — — —
Jean: You have no idea how to show affection to anyone!
Scott: That is not true! I hugged Warren once!
Jean: That was a chokehold!
Scott: Same thing!
— — — — —
*after Xavier takes him in*
Scott: Mental health? Zero.
Scott: Am I okay? No.
Scott: Will I be okay tomorrow? Probably not.
Scott: Hotel? Trivago.
— — — — —
Warren, talking to Bobby: My sexuality is more complex, you see. It’s a spectrum.
Scott: {smiles at him from across the room}
Warren: Gay, I’m fucking gay.
— — — — —
Hank, telepathically to Jean: He’s in the kitchen again.
Warren: “Beat three eggs” in what? Hand to hand combat??
Jean: Get him out!
— — — — —
Scott: I like you how I like my emotions.
Warren: Explain?
Scott, whispering in his ear: Buried deep inside me.
— — — — —
Scott: Life keeps fucking me, and I can’t remember the safe word.
— — — — —
Bobby: {holds up rock covered in painted pride flags} Wanna throw this through a homophobe’s window?
Scott: I’m down, but heads up I might fall asleep halfway through. I’m barely awake right now.
— — — — —
Scott: There’s a tiger painted here. It’s got a fierce look on its face, as if to say, “Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here.”
Scott: Don’t worry, Mr. Tiger. Hope and I haven’t been on speaking terms for a while now.
— — — — —
Scott: Have you ever been handcuffed before?
Warren: Wait, sexually? Or by law enforcement?
— — — — —
Scott: I get really nervous when Warren compliments me. Sometimes, I really don’t know what to say.
*later*
Warren: You look beautiful today.
Scott, panicking: Happy Birthday—
— — — — —
Hank: Please, that is utter terminological inexactitude.
The rest of the o5:
Hank: {sighs} That’s bullshit, fuckers.
— — — — —
Jean: How many times do I need to tell you guys this? Pick up any trash you find and don’t leave it lying around! It’s not that hard!
Warren: There’s no need to talk about Bobby like that; he’s right here.
Bobby:
Jean and Hank: Warren, no—
Scott: Geez, Jean, you could’ve just asked me to leave and I would’ve.
Jean and Hank: SCOTT, NO—
— — — — —
Warren: You’re pretty cute when you’re nice.
Scott: What am I when I’m not nice?
Warren: Hot as fuck.
— — — — —
Warren: Hey, remember that time I accidentally walked around telling everyone I got a hentai tattoo instead of a henna tattoo?
Bobby: You mean the best day of my life?
Bobby: I recall.

See the thing with Bucky; he’s shameless. You heard of it, he’s probably tried it.
A lot of people in his life assumed he was a broken recluse when he finally started to get his life back but that wasn’t so.
A lot had changed since Bucky had last been a part of the dating scene. He could get pornography at his fingertips, he could buy sex toys in specially designated stores, but the change he appreciated the most? Fucking a guy he had the hots for wouldn’t make him a criminal.
See Bucky liked people; girls with tits that spilled over his fingers and soft thighs that cradled his hips and boys with defined abs and peachy bottoms. He liked tiny tits too that he could fit into his mouth and a soft belly to sink his teeth into.
It had all started as he grew up. Bucky was a friendly, popular guy. He didn’t judge or shame and he wasn’t afraid to ask for what he wanted. He wasn’t afraid to ask for feedback either, because what’s the good in doing all of this if you can’t improve.
He’d learned a lot in Wakanda, where love was free and encouraged. He’d seen and done a lot too and most of all, when he got back, well, he just went on ahead and explored some more, though acceptance and love wasn’t as freely given, so Bucky had to search for it.
So this game of Never Have I Ever he was caught in, well, let’s just say this Asguardian liquor was about to test his limits. Or his honesty.
How they’d gotten here he had no idea. Tony had leftover booze from some gala he’d hosted and half the team were snarky, the other half were moping. Who’d have thought that Thor burying Stormbreaker in Thanos’ skull would have been anticlimactic?
So eighteen months later here everyone was celebrating Peter Parker starting at college and getting an internship with Tony, as if that was ever a question.
The boy in question was currently sitting next to Bucky with his chin resting on his knees and a bottle of beer in his hand. Everyone had various drinks and he had been teased a little about being underage but he’d just flipped anyone who tried to make him awkward the bird, then apologised for being rude, then asked them politely to stop teasing him and promptly sat down.
‘Leave the kid alone,’ Steve had frowned in that Cap way and Peter had preened under his noble protection.
After explaining the rules of the game they started with the typical childish ones before Natasha, getting comfortable with a glass of wine, turned the conversation to naughtier topics.
‘Spanked someone,’ Natasha smirked as she took a sip.
Bucky took a drink. Pepper, Maria and Clint took a drink too. A few of the group teased Steve, assuming that the old “Steve and Bucky are secretly fucking” was about to finally be revealed. Steve went bright red and spluttered at the assumption but Bucky just shrugged and smirked.
‘In this room,’ Clint joked.
Bucky took a drink. Natasha and Pepper took a drink as well.
A lot of people muttered but no one gave anything away other than Tony trying to scoff away his red face.
‘Never have I ever…been rimmed,’ Tony teased. Almost everyone in the room took a drink, including Steve.
‘Wow Cap, you like to be treated right,’ Natasha nudged him. Steve blushed again.
‘I- it was ah,’ he licked his lips and looked at Bucky.
Bucky for his part held his hands up. ‘Hey don’t look at me Pal, they think I’m the one who rimmed you.’
Steve spluttered again and Bucky laughed. ‘Never have I ever rimmed someone.’
At Bucky’s words everyone took a drink. Including Bucky.
‘You’re getting hot there too kiddo,’ Tony winked at Peter who flushed and shrunk back into the cushions.
‘Never have I ever watched porn with someone,’ Scott said.
Scott, Tony, Pepper, Thor and Loki took a drink, as did Bucky. Peter did too, and it didn’t go unnoticed. He got some gentle teasing before the team dropped it to move on.
‘Never have I ever watched a dirty video I made myself,’ Maria said.
Peppers poor face beamed red as she took a drink, while Tony proudly puffed his chest out and took his own drink too. Bucky took a sip, and Peter, face as red as Peppers, took a drink too.
‘Had a lap dance,’ Loki said. Almost everyone took a drink, Peter closed his eyes as he joined them.
‘Gave a lap dance,’ Wanda said. All the girls except Maria took a drink, most with red cheeks. Thor, Bucky and Peter took a drink too.
‘The little spider is a kinky one!’ Thor declared as Loki smirked at Peter, wiggling his eyebrows. ‘Never have I ever used a dagger sexually on a lover.’ Thor boomed as he took a drink.
Bucky and Natasha took a drink.
Steve’s face scrunched up and Thor laughed again, slapping Steve’s back almost knocking him off the sofa.
‘Never have I ever dominated a lover while blindfolded,’ Wanda said smugly.
Bucky took a drink.
‘Mother- is there anything you haven’t done?’ Sam asked. Peter shifted uncomfortably beside Bucky and glanced up at the man.
Bucky shrugged. ‘Try me.’
Sam leaned forward and everyone else looked on with interest. Bucky filled his glass then mirrored Sam’s pose.
‘Never have I ever fucked without my prosthetic on.’
Bucky took a drink.
‘Never have I ever fucked in public.’
Bucky took a drink.
‘Never have I ever fucked on a boat.’
Drink.
‘Had sex under the stars.’
Drink.
Sam hesitated and glanced around the room, and Natasha leaned in to help him out.
‘Had sex with a man and woman at the same time.’
Drink.
‘Been fucked with a strapon.’
Drink.
‘Been deep throated by someone with no gag reflex.’
Bucky swirled the liquid in his glass and took a drink.
‘Had someone call you daddy.’
Another drink this time with an eye roll.
‘I knew he was a total Daddy,’ Wanda muttered and Pepper nodded in sage agreement. Tony made an affronted noise.
‘Had a lover wear a sex toy in public.’
Drink.
‘Fucked someone while they wore a chastity device.’
Bucky refilled his glass and took a drink.
‘Bottomed,’ Sam smirked and Bucky rolled his eyes.
‘You already mentioned a strapon,’ Bucky pointed out as he took a drink.
Sam scowled and Natasha took over again.
‘Fucked in cosplay.’
Bucky made a face. Then took a drink.
‘Bucky,’ Steve gasped. ‘I don’t even know what half of this stuff is!’
‘And yet you still did it,’ Clint laughed.
‘No!’ Steve looked at him with piercing blue eyes. ‘It wasn’t - I didn’t!’
‘Oh my god you are all so dense!’ Peter suddenly cried. All eyes landed on him as he launched himself onto Bucky, knocking the bigger man onto his back on the sofa.
Bucky laughed as his hands curled around Peter’s slim waist but the sound was cut off as Peter kissed Bucky. It was chaste only for a moment then the adrenaline and alcohol caused them to deepen the kiss, licking into each other’s mouths. Peter moaned and rocked on Bucky for a moment then they parted, their foreheads pressed together.
‘Hey,’ Bucky whispered his hand coming up to stroke Peter’s cheeks.
‘Hi,’ Peter murmured. ‘I got jealous. I’m sorry, I know we haven’t discussed telling.’
‘It’s okay,’ Bucky stole another kiss.
‘No!’ Tony’s voice boomed around the room. ‘Have you- all of- with him!’
‘Tony,’ Pepper’s voice was calm as Natasha and Scott started to giggle.
‘What’s cosplay?’ Steve muttered to Sam. ‘And how can you uh, fondue, in chastity?’
‘It’s called a cock cage Pal, and you need to stop saying fondue and start saying have sex, you’re one hundred and two,’ Bucky looked over his shoulder and up at Steve. Peter buried his face in Bucky’s shoulder as Steve’s face contorted trying to imagine what Bucky had just said.
‘Done. This party is done. Get out!’ Tony cried as he got up and hurried out of the room leaving most of his guests giggling and laughing.
Pepper smiled apologetically, ‘Tony’s just a bit…jealous,’ she said with a shrug. ‘Stay as long as you want but I best go check he’s okay.’
Bucky sat up but kept a strong arm around Peter not letting him move an inch. Now that everyone knew he had no intentions of letting his darling spider out of his sight.
‘Why’s Tony jealous?’ Peter asked Bucky softly as they got comfortable together.
‘Could be of our adventures in and out of the bedroom,’ Bucky mused.
‘Or maybe he’s jealous of Bucky,’ Natasha suggested as she poured herself another wine.
‘Or Peter,’ Loki added with an innocent look.
Bucky’s arm tightened around Peter and he pressed a kiss to Peter’s hair in reassurance.
‘So how long?’ Sam asked Peter.
‘Long enough that I should be as drunk as Bucky,’ Peter flushed remembering some of the things they had talked about. Some of the things he and Bucky had tried and enjoyed.
‘Well congratulations,’ Natasha said and everyone joined her in well wishes. Peter blushed and ducked his head into Bucky’s shoulder and Bucky played his fingers through Peter’s hair.
‘That’s barbaric!’ Steve suddenly cried from the sofa where he was staring at Sam’s phone in horror while everyone else laughed at his reaction.
