Well, if you're doing two, I'm going to follow suit. One for my main girl, Hayden, and one for my new girl, Faith. I know 'Jumping to Wonderland' is "complete", but I'm still not ready to leave that world go. That said, I also need to focus on my original story, 'Close to the Vale'. So one from each then...

Hadley "Hayden" Flynn

5 words to physically describe your OC (do you have a drawing? even better!)

Casual. Warm. Playful. Contemplative. Expressive.

(May be a cheap answer, since it's personality heavy descriptions, but you can read Hayden like a book made for dumb children, and these come across in her actions. For more physical imagery, I used a Faceclaim of Amy Acker, and here's a beautifully done drawing by @pelcrow - also highly recommend checking out his work! May or may not have another commission in the works. 😅 Amazing artist.)

Who inspired your OC? (can be your mum to a very famous fungi)

There's a lot of 'me' in Hayden with regards to personality. But once we get into background, pasts, abilities - you're getting an odd mixture of Thirteenth Doctor and Willow Rosenberg.

Give me a song to define your OC (I will listen to it to enter in your WIP mood!)

I'm torn between Smile by Wolf Alice and Underworld by Cyprss. Her whole playlist is here though.

If I met your OC on the street how would they greet me?

You'd get a smile at the very least. Hayden is very friendly, but sometimes socially awkward. She's very perceptive of cues though, so if you're going through it and need a friend, high probability she'll pickup and try to make that happen. If you have an animal with you, all bets are off, and she's going to make it her mission to be friends regardless.

Can your OC be your best friend? Why?

We're very similar, and both pretty open and friendly. Don't see that being a problem or a hard push to suspend disbelief about.

Going with Jennifer Carpenter as a Faceclaim because I hear a lot of Deb Morgan in her. I also love the drawing floating around here of a mess of a woman noir detective, and I wanted that vibe too. Bitch, put down the whiskey and flip your cigarette, you're a mess.

She's not. Not unless she has to. And depending on why she has to, you might wish she would have ignored you like she would rather do in the first place. It wasn't always like this, but hey, life's a real cunt, isn't she?

If I could crack through her exterior, sure. Once you're in with her, your golden. But uh, good luck getting there, especially now.

Ambivalence OC Profiles

ive been tagging some posts as my ocs and i want to talk about them so here are the three main characters of my ambivalence oc set.

Ambivalence lore (very cliche but this story is more for me to process religious thoughts and weird relationships): its basically an incredibly stereotypical urban fantasy setting where there are realms/planes where magic is more distilled, there's a heaven and a hell analogue and like, werewolves, etc. There are a gods/demons that sometimes organize stuff and might try to end the world but eh. there's a group who tries to stop that happening but its centered around one specific god and gets v culty, they are referred to as "the knights" from here out. Ben spent his childhood as a 'chosen one' figure (he's half demon), and got really fed up with the whole bit. Alice was his friend and brief girlfriend when they were younger. During the last arc of their childhood and after the last big battle, their ragtag hero group gets absorbed into the knights who have been gaining numbers and legitimacy. Ben runs away and Alice takes it hard. The main story takes place a few years later when they reunite.

I've made them each in these three picrews to properly capture the vibe.

Ben:

Reuben (Ben), 24, he/him. Ben lives alone in a house he inherited from his maternal grandfather. He likes to live simply and peacefully, and works as a carpenter. His hobbies include pottery, gardening, and collage making. He is badger coded and capable of great violence, but is very calm most of the time. Since cutting ties with his old life, he has simultaneously mellowed out and repressed a lot of shit. He is trained to fight with a broadsword, although he turned his old one into a garden sculpture. He has a lot of scars and pain from old injuries. He is generally very stoic but is pretty emotional if you can read his understated facial expressions. He values the happiness and safety of himself and the people he loves, and dislikes liars. He can often be hypocritical and selfish.

Alice:

Alice P. Morrison, 23, she/her. Alice lives on a remote knight compound researching and developing ways to protect the balance of the planes. It is a very high stress environment and she's honestly pretty miserable. She likes caffeine and graph paper, her hobbies include sleeping and eating. Sometimes she goes hiking in the surrounding woods. Since Ben left, she has lost connections with old friends and mentors and become increasingly reliant on an unhealthy relationship with the director of the knight organization. She is trained to fight with only magic and can maybe use a spear. When she eventually gets out she will enjoy live music, painting, and reading nonfiction books. She's 'dog that you might think is a large rat or sick cat at first' coded. She shows her emotions pretty strongly and gets embarrassed easily. She cannot read facial expressions she just knows Ben really well. She values values knowledge and approval and dislikes apathy. She can be petty and stubborn.

Max:

Maximilian Hadley, 24, he/they. He certainly is here. Ben meets Max after leaving the knights and as Ben makes a new life he and Max build a relationship that Ben is hesitant to define, although Max would like to. They are outgoing and very socially adept, he likes fashion, history, and forming connections with people. his hobbies are a lot of what people around him want to do, but he personally enjoys horseback riding. Their family is very rich and owns a lot of animals. He knows little to nothing about magic, although his moms got up to their fair share of bullshit before he was born. He is not trained to fight but he would try to bite if it came to it. He is fancy cat coded and expresses his emotions carefully. They value connection, loyalty, and finesse. They dislike cruelty. He often struggles with boundaries and can be pushy or jealous.

Other Characters:

John: Ben and Alice's mentor figure, was not very good at the actual raising children part of it, was injured in the final battle and died as the knights were taking over.

Archer: Another mentor figure, they were closer to Ben and ended up faking their own death after he left. Was involved with John's sister.

John's sister: So very dead real narrative haunting gal she was prophetic and very mentally unstable about it.

Mason: Stereotypical fighter guy, was very close to Alice and Val, is still essentially loyal to the knights but doesn't talk to Alice anymore.

Val: Mason's partner and also fighter gal, was always quick to put herself at risk for the others and it caught up to her. She's been in a coma since the final battle.

Robert woke up to his alarm blaring from where it was sitting on his nightstand. Beside him, Alice groaned in complaint, body burrowing closer to his chest as if that would somehow cause the noise to disperse, the arm she had splayed loosely across his waist tightening. Flailing a little, he managed to reach over her to slap around at the clock until he finally hit the snooze button on the top to shut it off. With a huff of triumphant relief at the silence that followed, he settled back down onto the bed. Alice purred, nuzzling at him before beginning to grow heavy in his arms as she started to doze off again. Their legs were tangled, and he was suddenly brazenly aware that they were both still naked from the events of the night before, her bare breasts pushing into his chest.

“Mm, Al,” he mumbled, stroking lazily at her ruffled hair. She groaned, not wanting to be disturbed.

“What?” the word was muffled by his chest.

“We gotta get up soon. Go to work.”

“What kind of company has a gala with drinking and schmoozing and then expects everyone to come into the office the day after?”

“One run by Maurice Fischer.”

“‘S dumb.”

He hummed in agreement, kissing the top of her head as his mind began to slowly start to function, eyes focused upwards before glancing down at her. She was tucked so closely to him it was a wonder that they didn’t meld into one being, currently nosing at the smattering patch of chest hair between his pecs before resting her cheek there, slumping limply with one hand grazing his shoulder, eyes closed. A part of him felt urged to shake her gently back into wakefulness. To rise from the bed and begin to prepare for another long day of work. But the rest of him was comfortable. And she was so warm pressed up against him like that, and he was pretty sure that he never, ever wanted to stop holding her. Maybe just five more minutes…

His fucking phone started ringing.

Groaning, head tipping back dramatically into the pillows, his face pinched with annoyance.

“Whyyyy…” Alice whined.

Keeping one arm wrapped around her, the other fumbled back around the nightstand. Turning the phone enough that he could squint at it until he made out the name, he felt himself physically withdraw further into the mattress. No doubt feeling his reaction, Alice finally blinked open her big, pretty brown eyes.

“Who is it?”

“My dad.”

She made a face that under other circumstances might’ve been funny. “Don’t answer it.”

He shot her an incredulous look. “And have him come storming down here to yell at me in person!?”

“Why would he yell at you?”

“Because I kinda left Gemma Hadley standing alone at the bar with barely an explanation when I ran after you.”

“Oh. Oops.”

Red Right Hand Chapter 10: Away It Goes

Lucy watched as Kimber’s men moved away, eyes looking for any sign that any of them were thinking of trying anything. Tommy was looking down at where Danny laid. When he spoke, his voice was soft and sorrowful.

“Scudboat, Curly, pick him up,” wincing, as if only just then realizing that he had a bullet hole through his chest, Tommy began to walk unevenly towards the Garrison. Lucy jogged to follow him, hovering by his side worriedly. Behind them, their boys started to follow. “I’m alright,” he muttered as her hands fluttered anxiously over his shoulder.

“You have a bullet in you.”

“Not my first time,” he muttered, though his face still twisted as he grimaced. She held the doors to the pub open for him.

“Tommy,” she insisted urgently. He finally looked at her, and he must have seen the fear in her eyes because he touched her cheek lightly.

“Don’t worry. If I was going to keel over and die it would’ve happened by now.”

“You’re not funny.”

He flashed a tiny, wincing smirk, grunting as she helped pull his arms out of his coat, sitting down heavily in a chair.

“Take off your shirt,” she ordered, tossing his coat away.

“You know, I don’t really think that I’m in the mood, right now…”

“What did I just say about you not being funny?” she asked, grabbing his cheeks lightly. He smiled in mock innocence against her hands as his fingers began to work on his buttons. Still, the knowledge that he felt well enough to joke helped put her more at ease. She suspected that was part of the point as to why he was doing it; an attempt to soothe over her trembling nerves. It worked up until she saw just how much blood had already soaked its way into his white undershirt.

“Arthur,” she said, suddenly feeling incredibly out of her depth. Arthur looked up from where he’d just stepped in through the doors. “Help me.”

The Clockwork Laws Chapter 5: Hide & Seek

Raymond Leon x OC

Sitting on the windowsill, with her legs curled to her chest and a pair of binoculars pressed to her eyes, Rose pouted, blowing a raspberry as she let the binoculars fall to rest in her lap.

“Still nothing?” Raymond asked from where he was sitting on the bed. There was a file open in front of him, that he was marking up with a black pen. He had shed his coat, leaving him in just his vest and undershirt. It was odd to see him like that; almost how she could imagine him looking when he came home from a long day at work and was just beginning to unwind.

“Yeah,” she leaned her head back against the window frame with a thump. Tiredness pulled at her eyes, muscles cramping from spending hours curled up in her position at the window. She raised a hand to cover a yawn.

“If you want to get some sleep, I can take watch for a while,” Raymond offered.

“Are you sure?” she asked, even as she was gripped with another yawn. He just shrugged, standing and approaching the window, taking the binoculars from her.

“Okay,” jumping up, she stretched lazily like a cat, closing her eyes and rolling her neck from side to side. Rummaging through the tiny suitcase she’d brought with her, she pulled out her toiletries bag and her pajamas, going into the bathroom to brush her teeth and change.

Her reflection in the mirror was still a bit of a surprise. Gone was the gaunt, miserable girl with the dead eyes. There was a warmth to her face, the hard bitterness in her amber eyes somewhat softened. She looked almost content.

Running her fingers through her curls and tugging at the hem of her pajama top, she forced herself not to think about Raymond on the other side of the door. He was an asshole anyway. Fuck him.

She bit her lip when her mind promptly took that idea and flipped it over onto itself. It was a constant war within her own mind; that despite how much he annoyed and infuriated her, she couldn’t seem to stop thinking about him.

Shoving open the door to the bathroom, she did her best to ignore him as she climbed into the bed. Curling up with her back to him, she tugged the blankets over her. Even with her eyes closed and Raymond sitting near the window, she could feel his gaze burning into her back.

“Aren’t you supposed to be watching the safehouse?”

He coughed, and shifted. But even as she started to doze off, she could have sworn that she still felt his eyes, every once in a while, darting back to her.

OVERVIEW: I'm still getting everything set up, but welcome to the blog! I'm Chesca and my main is @fvriva. I also post art on @cinalilli. If you have anything you'd like to see in this archive, feel free to shoot me a DM or an ask and I can take a look at it! I came to realize that I could really use a nicer way to organize the collection of online artists I reblog, but the level of care it would take to organize that is more of a side-blog venture than a main-blog venture.

TAGGING SYSTEM: Tags will primarily be by artist/relevant fandom and characters, then by medium, and then by whatever aesthetic features I think stand out about the piece + my commentary. I will also try to provide an image ID if there is not already one provided. I'll have a list of the tags under the cut, partially for my own organizational use. the only place where i'll use capitalization is for artist handles and media that requires it as a stylization choice. character names are always given name preceding surname. characters will be tagged by the most culturally relevant name. symbols come before letters. i do not know how to put the the non-latin-alphabet artist handles in alphabetical order.
