FedEx lost the pieces my car needed for the engine, and the rental car company gave the temp car I was gonna use for two weeks to somebody else. (Pretty sure that's against some type of rule, bc I already paid for it) I wanna cry so bad, but honestly I'm getting used to these setbacks. What infuriates me is that I work less than five minutes away from the house. But the walking distance is horrible and unsafe as fuck. The buses don't come on time, and the train is too risky. Nobody else in my family has a schedule that meshes with mine, so I can't get picked up or borrow their car. I'm just stuck taking pricey ass fucking Ubers.

ONE OF THE MOST COMMON STEREOTYPES PERPETUATED AGAINST WOMEN WAS THAT THEY WERE DEEMED TERRIBLE DRIVERS.
That, or they just flat-out couldn’t drive to save their lives.
This sexist notion dated back to when the automobile was created, when driving was physically demanding work and men insisted they handled operating the vehicles themselves. Now, though, plenty of women drove just fine, but misogyny was the only thing keeping the stereotype relevant.
After all, the only reason why women were considered “bad drivers” was because a man decided they were.
Screw all the women who revolutionized the automobile industry, right? Despite them being highly discouraged to take on the labor required of men, it was Bertha Benz who drove the furthest in a motorized carriage than anyone else. It was Anne French who was the first woman to receive a driver’s license. It was Marget Wilcox who invented the car heater, Mary Anderson who created windshield wipers, and Hedy Lamar who designed the wireless transmission technology that made the innovation of the GPS possible.
No matter how high that glass ceiling was, even if a woman demolished and obliterated it to pieces, there would always be a man out there who would push her right back down.
Unfortunately, you were nowhere near smashing that glass ceiling because you had failed your permit test six times.
Yes, it was embarrassing, but you were determined to get your license. At your age, it was getting ridiculous that you had consistently failed your permit test this many times. Plus, you were getting tired of asking all of your friends for rides. You envisioned picking them up in your new car with your shiny new license, grinning smugly at the shocked looks on their faces.
“I don’t think God wants you on the road,” Wen Junhui, your best friend since middle school, said as he dropped you off at the DMV. “If you fail a seventh time, I would personally just use public transportation for the rest of my life.”
“If a sixteen-year-old can pass it without studying, then I can pass it,” you insisted. “Plus, I read the entire manual last night.”
“Yeah, except the sixteen-year-old passed it on their first or second try, and this is your seventh.”
“Well, seventh time’s the charm, right?”
“Right,” he replied, doubtful. He stopped the car in front of the DMV to let you out. “Well, good luck. I’m gonna go get gas and I’ll come back for you.”
“Thanks, Jun!” you chirped. “I swear I’ll pass it this time.”
“Sure.”
“Have some faith in me, please.”
When Junhui drove away, you steeled your nerves to mentally prepare yourself—not for the test but for interacting with the DMV employees. You weren’t a fan of being verbally abused by them, especially after having them roll their eyes at you the last six times you had to tell them you failed.
But today would be different.
Thankfully, the DMV wasn’t too busy today. You only had to wait twenty minutes until they called your number. After handing them the proper paperwork, you were directed to the computers to take the permit test.
Since you were an adult, you only needed to get 30 questions correct out of 36. You had learned your lesson by now, so you actually studied the handbook this time. It took a while to admit to yourself that you weren’t blessed with common sense.
First question. Wrong.
Second question. Wrong.
Third question. Wrong.
What was happening?
By the time you had gotten five questions wrong in a row, your hands were shaking. The pressure started to set back in, and you were terrified about failing this exam a seventh time. Junhui would be so disappointed if you told him you failed again.
You felt the back of your shirt cling to your skin once the sixth question was incorrect. This was ridiculous; you had studied, but these questions were strangely specific. It was like someone at the DMV had it out for you.
Maybe Junhui was right. Maybe God didn’t want you on the road.
You felt like your brain had entered auto-pilot to protect yourself from the discouraging loss of your permit yet again. You clicked through the rest of the questions mindlessly, hardly thinking about anything until—
You passed!
The white screen flashed in your face for about a minute before you could register it properly. All you could do was blink and stare until you pinched your wrist to make sure you weren’t seeing things.
Had you really gotten the rest of the 30 questions right after your consecutive failed attempts? You were so worked up over the six you missed that the rest felt like a blur. Maybe the problem was that you had been overthinking the test this entire time.
“I did it,” you breathed out to the woman at the counter, still in disbelief. “I passed.”
“Congratulations,” she replied with little enthusiasm. She turned to grab papers from her printer, stapled them together, and handed you your brand new permit. “Have a nice day now.”
“Thank you so much,” you replied, slightly distracted as you inspected your learner’s permit with wide eyes.
You had been waiting for this day for so long, and here you were, holding the permit you had spent years trying to obtain. You could only imagine how thrilled your parents and friends would be once they found out.
Speaking of friends, when you checked your phone, you saw that Junhui had texted you five minutes ago that he was parked outside. He probably expected you to walk out with a gloomy expression and slumped shoulders, but you had a skip in your step this time. You finally had good news for your best friend.
“Jun!” you yelled before you even opened the door to the passenger’s seat. “Jun, Jun, Jun, Jun!”
“It’s okay, Y/N,” he said sympathetically, but something about his automatic response definitely felt practiced, “you’ll get it next time.”
“No, Jun, I passed!”
His eyes went wide. “You did?!”
“I did!” You squealed and practically jumped into the seat. Sinking back, a wide grin stretched across your face. “I finally did it.”
“Yo, congrats.” Junhui grinned. “I guess the seventh time really is the charm, huh?” He started his car to pull out of the parking lot. “Well, now you just have to pass the driving test.”
Your face fell.
You had been thinking about the permit test for so long that you forgot there was an actual driving component, too.
First of all, you had never driven a vehicle in your life, not even illegally with friends. Second of all, you had terrible depth perception, which was probably not a great flaw to have if you wanted to drive. Thirdly, everything you prepared for the permit test had completely ejected from your brain. Your road sense was back to utterly clueless.
“I’m gonna fail,” you said, defeated. “Jesus Christ, Jun, I didn’t even think about the actual driving test!”
“Relax, driving’s easy once you get the hang of it,” he replied. “What you should really be worrying about is how expensive those lessons are.”
“How much are they?”
“Uh, like, close to a few hundred.”
“Total?”
“No, per lesson.”
“Per lesson?!” you cried. “Just for someone to tell me where to turn and brake? I can’t afford that!”
“I’m guessing most of it is because they’re willingly sitting in a car with someone who doesn’t know shit about driving,” he explained, “but, yeah, it’s a crazy price. You do need to get that license before your permit expires, though, and you should probably get it done while you’re still here for college so you don’t run over the elementary schoolers back home.”
You buried your face in your hands and let out a loud groan. “How am I gonna dish out hundreds of dollars? I don’t have that kind of money to spend when I have rent to pay off.”
The corner of Junhui’s mouth lifted, more so exasperated than amused when he said, “I think I might know a guy.”
Tumblr media
Kwon Soonyoung.
Junhui sent you his number after he dropped you off at your apartment. Apparently, Soonyoung was one of his good friends who also happened to have a side gig where he gave out driving lessons at a discounted price. Of course, the downside was that Soonyoung wasn’t exactly certified to teach people how to drive, but he was allegedly a good driver.
His lessons were normally for high schoolers, and he charged their parents around a hundred. For adults over the age of 21, though, he had a special offer that you couldn’t resist.
You texted him to ask if he had any open spots for you. He took a few days to reply, but you eventually got a two-hour slot for the next week. You weren’t sure how effective his lessons would be, but you figured you would give it a shot since he was your age and giving out classes for cheap.
When the day of your lessons rolled around, you were slightly anxious while you were waiting for him to arrive. You needed Junhui to reassure you for hours last night, promising that no, Soonyoung was not going to kidnap and murder you. He was a student at your university, actually, and he was a public health major who never had a murderous thought in his life.
soonyoung (driving instructor): i’m outside your house
Okay, if he wasn’t a murderer, then the least he could do was not text you like one.
After replying with an omw that autocorrected to On my way! and left you feeling very distressed that your communication sounded overly-enthusiastic, you worked up the courage to walk outside to his Honda Accord.
“Hi,” you greeted shyly when you opened the door. “You’re Soonyoung, right?”
Honestly, you didn’t care if he was Soonyoung or not. The man sitting in the driver’s seat was probably one of the most attractive people you had ever laid eyes on. Even if he wasn’t Kwon Soonyoung, you would happily let him kidnap you. Maybe you’d even blush a little because he picked you of all people to kidnap.
He turned to look at you, seeming a little surprised that you opened the door but smiling nevertheless. “Yeah, that’s me. You’re Y/N?”
When you nodded, he got out of the driver’s seat and motioned for you to take it. You skirted around the car to sit inside while Soonyoung took the passenger’s seat.
You also got a glance of his off-brand, beige Fear of God Essentials sweater that read M.I.L.F. Hunter instead. Classy.
“So, you came to me because you didn’t wanna give up your semester’s worth of college tuition for driving lessons,” Soonyoung said with an overwhelming air of confidence.
“Yeah, pretty much.” You huffed. “Here, I heard this was your payment.”
You handed him a paper bag, not bothering to take out the receipt from the dispensary. Inside was the King Louis XIII STIIZY pod. One gram.
“Ah, good. You know your stuff.”
Soonyoung hummed as he examined the box, and you were just wondering when he would get to business and start showing you the controls in his car. You were slightly overwhelmed by his impressively relaxed demeanor. Maybe it would have been better if you settled for an uptight woman in her sixties. Pretty boys were always trouble.
“You made the right choice coming to me. I’m a much better driver than those hags from the driving schools around here,” he continued. It was like he could read your mind; it was almost terrifying. “Plus, way less likely that I’ll get a heart attack in the passenger’s seat.”
He was a total weirdo, but he was hot, so you supposed it canceled out in some obscure, mathematical sense.
“That’s… good to hear, I think,” you replied. “So, are you, like, good at this?”
“Are you kidding? I’m basically the Lebron of driving.”
“I see.” You nodded along, unsure. “I don’t watch football, so…”
“He plays basketball, but close enough.”
After spending about thirty minutes explaining all of the controls—from hand signals, to the dashboard, to the indicator—Soonyoung decided it was time for you to start driving on your own. You didn’t expect to move this quickly; actually, you didn’t think you’d even start driving until your second lesson. Thankfully, you gathered most of what Soonyoung had taught you, so you mustered up the courage to press your foot on the brakes and move the gear shift into drive.
You looked over at Soonyoung expectantly, waiting for him to give you the green light to start driving. The boy only raised a brow at you, wondering why you hadn’t started driving yet.
“Today would be nice,” he remarked.
“Uh, should I start now?”
“Sorry, I don’t have a starting pistol for you or anything.” He made a finger gun with his hand and pretended to fire. “On your mark, get set—”
“Okay, going,” you replied quickly, flushing with embarrassment. You pressed down on the accelerator and gasped as the car lurched forward. “Sorry!”
“Slowly!” Soonyoung cried out, holding onto the ‘oh shit’ handle, which you found highly unnecessary and felt somewhat offended about. “Press down slowly—gentle.”
The next hour of your lessons was a learning curve, to say the least. In your defense, it was your very first time driving, so you didn’t know you were actually supposed to look behind you before you switched lanes. Although Soonyoung kept reminding you, his instructions kept slipping your mind because you were focusing on several things at once.
You sucked.
You were probably honked at around eight times and flipped off twice. It was a humbling experience, really. There was only so much a DMV victim could take, so you eventually had to pull over and try not to cry while Soonyoung consoled you.
“C’mon, you probably didn’t even do anything wrong. It’s just their road rage,” he said, trying to duck his head to get a better look at you while you had your hands covering your face. “Plus, all those assholes were driving way over the speed limit. You were the responsible one back there.”
You sniffled, sucking in a shuddering breath before you gathered your composure. It wasn’t like you to be so vulnerable in front of a stranger like this, but it was probably the nerves of your first time driving coupled with the nerves of driving (and potentially damaging) someone else’s car.
“You’re right.” You wiped at your damp cheek. “Fuck them. They couldn’t pass a driving test if they tried.”
“Well, technically, they already have.”
“Not helping.”
He smirked. “Are you good to keep driving? Or do you wanna wrap this session up for today?”
“Let’s keep going.” You set the car in drive again, but you looked over at Soonyoung before you did anything else. “Thanks, by the way. I’m guessing most of your students don’t usually pull over to cry during their lesson.”
He shrugged. “Wouldn’t say it’s happened before, but it’s not a bad thing.”
It was a good thing that you were able to hide your blush from Soonyoung. With the clearly embarrassing impression you were making on him, it would have been mortifying if he found out that he was also making you flustered.
For the next thirty minutes, you slowly started to get more comfortable behind the wheel. Soonyoung was thankfully not overbearing as most instructors normally were, so you didn’t end up flinching every time he spoke.
He made light conversation to make you feel at ease, which you appreciated greatly. At first, you just nodded or hummed in response, as you were too afraid to do anything but stare at the road ahead, but you eventually steeled your nerves and replied with actual words. Soonyoung was a natural conversationalist, so you didn’t have to worry about your awkward pauses or stumbling over your words. He led the conversation, sharing random tidbits of his life that you wouldn’t expect to hear from someone the first time you met them.
Everything seemed to be going perfectly normal until Soonyoung started queuing songs to play.
The problem wasn’t the music. The problem was that Soonyoung had stopped teaching you to drive, allowing you to fend for your life while he sat back and relaxed. You weren’t sure if normal people were able to loosen up so easily while being driven by a complete amateur.
Soonyoung must’ve been from a different planet, you decided. Some planet out there that deemed him the Lebron of driving.
“Uh,” you started, “aren’t you gonna tell me where to go?”
Soonyoung opened his mouth, as if he was going to ask what you meant, but then his demeanor completely shifted.
“Pull over to the curb,” he instructed, “now.”
“What?” Your pulse raced, and you were scared that you had fucked up somehow. You checked your mirrors to make sure you hadn’t cut anyone off or anything, but there was no one behind you. Swallowing thickly, you pulled over to the curb as best as you could and parked the car, shooting your driving instructor a nervous glance. “Did I do something wr—”
“Wait, wait, wait,” Soonyoung whispered, silencing you with a wave of his hand. “This is the best part.”
Your jaw clenched as Olivia Rodrigo’s vocals were drowned out by Soonyoung’s off-key singing. This was why he wanted you to pull over?
“I knew we weren’t perfect but I’ve never felt this way for no one!” he belted out. “C’mon, sing with me—oh, and I just can’t imagine how you could be so okay now that I’m gone!”
You folded your arms across your chest. With a reluctant sigh, you gave in and started singing along with Soonyoung.
Tumblr media
You weren’t exactly ready for your driving test, but after two more lessons with Soonyoung, you felt more confident about being on the road. Sure, you almost ran over a pedestrian once and drove on the wrong side of the road the other day, but at least you were capable of handling a vehicle mostly by yourself.
There were times where you wondered if your driving lessons would be more productive with a proper instructor, not Soonyoung. He surely knew how to drive (save for when he went over the speed limit and only slowed down when he saw a cop car), but he was more focused on messing around instead of actually teaching you. You were pretty sure that he saved his proper instruction for high school students with parents, and you were just someone he liked to mess around with.
That didn’t stop you from scheduling another lesson with him, though. It was going to be another trip to the dispensary for you.
“How’re the driving lessons going?” Junhui asked, still nose-deep in his anatomy textbook.
The two of you were preparing for your upcoming midterms in a study room, but all you could think about was the little notification on your phone screen telling you that Soonyoung requested to follow you on Instagram. How long were you supposed to wait until you accepted his request? Would it be weird if you followed him back right away?
“I can’t parallel park, but I know all the lyrics to ‘Driver’s License’ by Olivia Rodrigo now,” you answered. “I’ve also been honked at thirteen times.”
You counted. Mostly because each honk kept you up at night, staring up at your popcorn ceiling, wondering why everyone (a driver who probably didn’t even remember your face) hated you.
“Ah,” Junhui mused, smiling a little to himself, “so it’s going well.”
“I wouldn’t say that,” you mumbled. “But he’s nice. He doesn’t make me feel like crying. I think my dad would make me cry.”
Your phone buzzed while Junhui started going off on a tangent about how your dad was, indeed, a scary man. (There was an incident during parent’s weekend in freshman year where your father walked into your dorm room to see Junhui sitting on your bed. Completely misunderstanding the situation, your poor friend got lectured for almost an hour.) Soonyoung’s contact name flashed across your screen, and you were itching to read his text.
Once you and Junhui settled back into studying, you turned on your phone to check your messages.
soonyoung (driving instructor): i see you in the first floor study room soonyoung (driving instructor): come to the second floor study room for a good time
Terrifying. But you were intrigued.
After excusing yourself for a moment, making some lame excuse about needing to use the bathroom, you slipped out of your study room to head upstairs. You realized you had never actually seen Soonyoung on campus before, so a strange feeling of excitement consumed you, making your body feel light and your chest feel giddy.
Outside one of the study rooms, you heard echoes of laughter and conversation, which made you feel instantly nervous. You were invited, though, so you steeled your nerves and opened the door cautiously.
“Hi,” you greeted quietly, glancing over at the three strangers before your eyes landed on Soonyoung, who grinned once he saw you.
The four of them weren’t exactly studying. Two of them were fiddling with the flatscreen fixed to the wall, trying to connect a Nintendo Switch to it; one of them was sliding joy-cons into controllers; and Soonyoung, who had his legs kicked up on the table previously, was standing up to walk over to you.
“You came!” His tone made it seem like he was doubtful that you’d actually show up, so you were glad to prove him wrong. “Oh, yeah, this is Seungcheol and Mingyu”—he gestured toward the two who were setting up the TV, and then he pointed at the guy with the joy-cons—“and this is Seungkwan.”
“Hey,” the three of them chorused in broken unison.
“Wanna play Smash Bros with us?” Soonyoung asked. “Perchance.”
“You can’t just say ‘perchance,’ dude,” one of the guys setting up the TV said.
“I think it’s applicable, Mingyu,” the other guy said, whom you now deduced was Seungcheol. “Conceivably.”
“There’s no reason for either of you to use the words ‘perchance’ or ‘conceivably’ at all,” Seungkwan chimed in.
“Ignore them,” Soonyoung said, holding the door open wider for you before you even gave him an answer. “They’re just idiots.”
“You’re the biggest idiot here!” Seungcheol protested. He turned to you and explained, “He’s, like, the final boss idiot.”
Mingyu snickered. “Final idiot.”
You found yourself giggling a little, distracted by their banter as you walked inside the room and sat down in one of the empty chairs. Soonyoung slid into the one next to you, even though he was sitting next to Seungkwan earlier. You were glad that none of his friends made you feel like your presence was strange or unwelcome, but you still couldn’t help but feel awkward.
While Soonyoung was asking Seungcheol if he had finished connecting his Switch to the TV, you pulled out your phone to text Junhui.
y/n: i’m playing smash bros??? with soonyoung on the second floor y/n: wanna join?
jun: my anatomy midterm is in 3 days, 2 hours, and 26 minutes and all i know rn is that tissues are to wipe my tears after i fail this exam, negative feedback is all im getting back from my professor, and brain cells r what im deficient in
y/n: ok damn i’ll take that as a no
jun: i’ll be in here for the next 3 days whenever u decide to come back
y/n: it’ll take an hour tops y/n: pls don’t camp here for 3 whole days
“Jun’s not coming,” you announced.
You heard a chorus of groans.
Great. They were all Wen Junhui fanboys.
After Mingyu and Seungcheol finished setting up the Nintendo Switch, you watched Soonyoung and Seungkwan play the first match. Seungkwan chose Villager (which was sort of fitting for him, actually) and Soonyoung chose Donkey Kong. You honestly had no idea how Smash Bros worked, so you were completely lost while you watched their characters fly around and knock each other off the platform.
Soonyoung was screaming at one point, threatening Seungkwan with several promises to knock him out, which never happened. Seungkwan, taking a calmer approach, focused on using several commands while Soonyoung was already jumping out of his chair and on the floor. Mingyu and Seungcheol were on the sidelines, yelling out strategies for them at random and laughing occasionally.
The match ended with Seungkwan being victorious. Soonyoung had gotten so riled up during the game, but he took his defeat like a champ, congratulating his friend and laughing off his loss.
You were just amused at how quickly he switched up.
“You want a turn?” Soonyoung asked you, handing you his controller.
You hesitated. “Uh, I’m not really good at these kinds of games.”
“I’ll help you.”
You were up against Mingyu. He was a formidable opponent at first glance, but you hoped he wasn’t as competitive as the others. Maybe he would show you mercy because it was your first time playing.
You held the controller with stiffly-bent arms, holding it up like you were reading a map. Soonyoung didn’t laugh at you, to your relief, but he gently pushed your hands down and showed you what all of the controls were.
You chose the pink blob named Kirby. You weren’t a gamer by any means, so you had no idea what purpose the pink blob served other than being cute. No one judged you for your selection, though, which you assumed was a good sign.
“Don’t go easy on me,” you mumbled to Mingyu, who grinned in response.
“Wasn’t planning on it.”
Your heart raced when the countdown started. It felt like the longest three seconds of your life, and you were starting to regret choosing Kirby, who looked harmless in comparison to Mingyu’s character: Samus. You kept telling yourself that it was okay if you lost; you knew how to handle failure since you were pretty bad at virtually everything.
Soonyoung was cheering for your victory as soon as the match started. He was an absolute angel for doing so, but you were afraid you were going to disappoint him.
In Mingyu’s defense, you did tell him not to go easy on you. Unfortunately, the guy really wasn’t holding back at all. In the blink of an eye, you were already astral projecting off the screen.
“Oh,” was all you could say.
Maybe you should have swallowed down your pride and asked Mingyu to go easy on you.
Seungcheol playfully punched his friend’s shoulder. “C’mon, dude, it’s her first time.”
“Yeah, why’re you being a dick?” Seungkwan joined in, seeming more excited over having an excuse to target Mingyu than to actually defend you.
“She told me not to go easy on her!” he exclaimed, but no one allowed the poor boy to stand up for himself. With a pout, he turned to you and said, “I’m sorry.”
“No, don’t apologize.” You laughed. “I’m just bad at this.”
“Here, I’ll help you for the next round.” Soonyoung scooted closer to you until his knee brushed against yours. You couldn’t help but feel a little hot all of a sudden, but you made no effort to move away.
The next round started with you dropping from the revival platform. You felt like your brain went into autopilot. You just heard Soonyoung talking in your ear while his fingers kept brushing against yours, telling you which controls were best for fighting Samus. Everything was going in one ear and out the other; you were so flustered that you could hardly think straight.
You snapped back into reality when you heard three of them screaming, and you looked over with wide eyes to see Mingyu looking shell-shocked himself.
You won.
Soonyoung smiled. “See? You’re a natural.”
“No, it was all you,” you replied, shaking your head. It really was all thanks to Soonyoung because you had no idea what the hell you did. “It was probably just beginner’s luck.”
But, even so, a smile tugged at your lips, and you felt elated from your triumph. You thought back to Soonyoung’s hands brushing against yours, nearly swamping yours in comparison, and your chest felt a little warm.
A little too warm.
Tumblr media
You put a pause on driving for a week and a half, informing Soonyoung that you had to focus on midterms before you could think about your driving lessons. Both caused you extreme distress, so you needed to cut one out temporarily.
Junhui really did camp out in the library for three entire days. You brought him food every day and forced him to go back to his apartment to take a shower. When you watched over his study room for him, Soonyoung would swing by and ask how you were doing.
Brief interactions, but they were nice.
You managed to get through your midterms without a single cry session in a bathroom stall. It was honestly a bigger success than your first Smash Bros win.
Soonyoung and you grew a little closer. Two weeks ago, if someone told you that you would be FaceTiming your driving instructor every night before bed, you wouldn’t believe them for a second. Mostly because you assumed you would get a driving instructor who was pushing retirement age, and video calling someone that old at night sounded a little concerning and borderline adulterous.
You learned a lot about him. His go-to breakfast or midnight snack was Frosted Flakes, and he felt a little empty inside if there wasn’t a box of the cereal in his cabinet. He was loud most of the time, but he often got shy or quiet in loud settings; it was highly dependent on the crowd he was with. His love language was sending you pictures of cute animals and saying it was you two. (You also didn’t like calling this a “love language” because that implied there was something deeper than platonic feelings, which you were too afraid to come to terms with.)
“You have to start driving again now that your midterms are over,” Soonyoung said over the phone one night. He was sulking while you were doing your skincare routine, keeping your phone propped up on your desk. “You’re gonna start forgetting what you learned, and then we’re gonna be back to square one.”
He was (slightly) high tonight and you were the first person he called.
You were pretty sure that had to mean something. Unfortunately, you were too guarded to connect the pieces that were laid out perfectly for you.
“You just miss me, huh?” you joked.
“Yeah, I guess I do.”
Nothing could have prepared you for that response.
You felt your cheeks burn, and you had to physically turn around to hide whatever expression was betraying you. You pretended to examine something behind you, but there was clearly nothing there, so you just looked like an idiot.
You didn’t know what you were feeling. There was a clear difference in your emotions when you spoke to Soonyoung versus when you spoke to his friends.
You didn’t want to compare Soonyoung to Junhui, who you knew since middle school, but you knew that you didn’t feel anything funny in your chest when you interacted with Seungcheol, Seungkwan, or Mingyu. They were great to be around, of course, but it was only Soonyoung who made you walk with a little skip in your step.
You hadn’t had a proper crush in years. Now, you felt like you were overthinking everything and analyzing every little interaction that could possibly be meaningless.
It had only been a few weeks, but you supposed there was no exact timeline for these sorts of things—whatever this thing was.
Whatever it was, though, you were in danger.
“Tomorrow, then,” you said once you regained a sliver of your composure. “Pick me up after your classes.”
“Sure.” He rested his chin in his palm, staring at you with an amused expression. “I’ll bring flowers.”
Possible Ways To Respond: 1. “You’re too sweet! Thank you.” 2. “Flowers? What’s the occasion?” 3. “Wow, you really know how to make a girl feel special, huh?”
You went with a secret fourth option.
“Please don’t. I’m allergic.”

True to his word, Soonyoung picked you up after his classes the next day.
You were pretty sure your lessons had gone over the regular quota, so you stopped by at the dispensary earlier to pick up another pod for Soonyoung. He didn’t look as though he was expecting anything when you got in the driver’s seat, though. In fact, he was perplexed when you handed him the paper bag.
“What’s this?” he asked, growing sheepish.
“Your payment,” you replied. “Also, I sort of lied about being allergic to flowers. I’m not allergic to flowers. I don’t know why I said that. I’m allergic to penicillin, though, but I don’t think that sounds remotely close to ‘flowers.’ Maybe I got confused? I don’t know.”
If this was an otome game, you had surely picked the bad relationship ending. Soonyoung’s face fell a little—just enough for you to notice—and you immediately felt guilt swallowing you whole. You meant for your words to sound lighthearted, but maybe they didn’t come across that way.
But, at the same time, you didn’t know where you stood. Wouldn’t it have been unfair to not repay Soonyoung for the lessons? Was it unreasonable that you weren’t actually expecting him to bring you flowers for no reason?
Soonyoung recovered quickly, though, his smiling eyes crinkling at the corners. “So I can bring you flowers.”
“Hypothetically, you could.”
“But you don’t have to pay me anymore.” He looked into the paper bag, examining the STIIZY pod before scoffing. “If I keep stocking up on these, people are gonna think I’m a stoner.”
“Well, I have to pay you for the lessons somehow,” you said. “So, if you don’t want the pods anymore, then I’ll have to start sending you money. I mean, what about gas?”
“You don’t have to worry about my gas tank.” He chuckled at your words and sat back to get comfortable. “What you should worry about is not hitting the curb.”
You flushed hotly. “Right.”
The first hour went smoothly. Soonyoung was impressed that you were gradually getting more and more comfortable behind the wheel, and he even congratulated you for changing lanes without muttering prayers under your breath. You were beginning to feel less overwhelmed with everything you were supposed to focus on, and you were certain that you were so close to everything clicking at once.
That was, until a car crashed right into you on a local road.
Thankfully, you and the other driver weren’t going too fast, but the force was sure to leave a dent in Soonyoung’s car. The collision wasn’t hard, by any means, but the impact jerked your body forward so that your mouth hit the steering wheel. The sting of pain radiated throughout your gums seconds later, and you winced and cradled your jaw.
You immediately bubbled with rage as you pulled over to the curb, knowing that you had the right of way and he was supposed to stop and wait for you to pass, but you were still stiff with shock. Soonyoung’s eyes were fierce, looking back at the driver as if he was about to cuss him out, but then he turned his attention to you.
Before you could feel immense, crushing guilt over crashing Soonyoung’s car, you whipped your head around to make sure he wasn’t hurt. You wouldn’t be surprised if he completely ghosted you after this. You were probably the worst student he had ever come across, which was saying a lot considering most of his students were high school teenagers.
“Y/N, are you okay? Are you hurt?” he asked, sounding as frantic as his hands were. You felt his palm against your cheek and his other hand atop your head, making sure you weren’t hurt anywhere.
“Are you okay?” you blurted out. Your breathing was erratic, and you hardly registered the metallic taste of blood in your mouth. “Oh god. Your car. Oh god, I—”
“It’s okay, Y/N, it’s not your fault,” he said. “You had the right of—”
When he turned to look at you again, he just stared, eyes wide and jaw hanging open—almost comically. It almost looked like he was more bewildered by you than the fact that his car was rammed into by another car.
He was wordless for far too long that you had to ask, “Everything okay?”
Maybe that was a stupid question. Clearly, everything wasn’t okay, and it had everything to do with the fact that you two had gotten into a car crash.
“I think you loth a tooth,” he lisped—a seemingly joking remark, but his expression was dead serious.
For a split second, a laugh bubbled up in your mouth. You thought Soonyoung must have been messing with you, but it was ridiculous that he could joke around in such a situation. It was when you touched your lip and pulled your hand back to see blood, though, that cold reality washed over you.
Your eyes went wide as saucers as you turned to examine your teeth in the rear-view mirror.
The worst possible thing that could happen to a woman was happening to you right now.
Your front left tooth was gone.
“I-it’s not that bad,” Soonyoung tried, although he sounded unconvinced himself. “It’s cute! It’s like, uh, that dragon—from, uh… How to Train Your Dragon.”
Your eyes were burning and your throat was closing up, but tonguing the bloodied gap between your teeth sent you over the edge. You had tears streaming down your cheeks and you were gripping the wheel so hard that your knuckles turned pale.
“Toothleth?” you cried, which led to a few choked sobs when you realized that you had a lisp now. Then, you were full-on crying into your hands because sure, you could get over being the reason why Soonyoung’s car had a dent in it, but you were pretty sure there was no replacing a missing tooth. The more you cried, though, the worse you felt as you tasted the blood and heard the faint whistles coming from the gap in your teeth. “I’m tho thupid!”
Soonyoung was clearly short-circuiting, but you could tell he was desperate to calm you down by the way he was rubbing your back in soothing circles. “Y/N, you’re not stupid. It's okay, we just—”
“Thoonyoung!”
Soonyoung slapped his hand over his mouth to suppress his laughter. He was trying to take you seriously, but the little bursts of laughter that bubbled up in his throat were betraying him.
You swallowed down your sob and continued, “Ith not okay! I loth my tooth!”
“Okay, no more talking,” he ordered. “I know you’re very hurt right now, but you’re gonna feel even worse if I start laughing at your lisp, so don’t make this harder for me.”
You scowled at him, but you kept your mouth shut because Soonyoung was right; you were not in the proper headspace to be laughed at right now.
“Okay, I’m gonna go outside and talk to the driver who ran into us,” he explained slowly. “I want you to calm your breathing and find your missing tooth. We can drive to the dentist right after, okay?”
You sniffled and nodded, craning your neck to watch Soonyoung get out of the car to talk to the driver. Then, you sucked in a sharp breath and examined the floor to find your loose tooth. Lo and behold, it was laying next to the gas pedal. You cringed as you picked it up, frowning at how bloody it was in your palm. There were a few napkins in Soonyoung’s glove compartment, so you wrapped your tooth in one and kept it in your pocket.
You heard some yelling from the other driver—something about having kids in the back and how you were going way too fast—and it all just made you feel worse. You felt horrible that Soonyoung had to deal with the repercussions, and after they exchanged insurances and the guy drove off, you got out of the car to see the damage.
Surely enough, there was a decent-sized dent in the side of his car. It was right where the back door opened, and you burst into tears at the sight of it. Soonyoung wouldn’t have to deal with all of this if he wasn’t teaching you to drive.
Still, he wrapped his arms around your shaking body and pulled you in close. He rested his chin on top of your head and sighed.
“It’s okay,” he murmured. “The insurance will cover the damage. You don’t have to worry about anything.”
“What about my tooth?”
“Okay, maybe there’s one thing to worry about.”
You leaned into his touch when you felt his hand carding through your hair. His motions were slow and gentle, as if he was trying hard to make sure you didn’t notice the gesture. You did, though, and you appreciated it.
You started, “I’m—”
“Don’t say you’re sorry,” he interrupted. You thought he was going to say something cheesy about how you had nothing to apologize for, but he continued, “You’re gonna say thorry, and I’m not gonna be able to take you seriously.”
With your face buried in his chest, you reached your hand out to punch his shoulder.
Still, despite his snarky comment and the emotional distress you were experiencing over your missing tooth, a big smile crossed your face and his embrace left a warm, fluttery feeling in your stomach.
Your heart was beating so fast that you almost thought it would stop.

“Ew,” was Wen Junhui’s first reaction upon seeing your swollen lip. You could only see the top half of his face over FaceTime, but you were sure he had a look of disgust on. “You look terrible.”
“Thanks,” you replied dryly, holding an ice pack to your cheek.
Before Soonyoung drove you to a dentist, he scolded you for leaving your tooth wrapped up in a tissue. Apparently, your tooth was going to be fucked if it dried up, so his solution was to leave it in his half-empty water bottle that was left sitting in his car. You weren’t quite sure about this, but the dentist informed you that Soonyoung saved your front tooth.
If he was with you in the room, you probably could’ve kissed him then and there—bloody mouth and all.
Thankfully, since you didn’t fracture or break any part of the tooth, the dentists were able to replant it into your gums without any complications. They told you it was a good thing you went straight to the dentist instead of waiting. Your front tooth would’ve been a lost cause if you waited another hour.
It was really all thanks to Soonyoung.
The procedure was quick and you were told that your avulsed tooth would be back to normal in about a week. The news filled you with relief because you were so sure you were going to be toothless for the rest of your life.
Not that it was a bad thing. While Soonyoung was driving you to the dentist prior to the replantation, you had come to terms with the fact that you would be missing a front tooth for the rest of your life. You would grow old and tell your children the harrowing tale of how you got your driver’s license and sacrificed your front tooth for it.
It couldn’t be all that horrible. Maybe you would grow an affinity for whistling.
Thankfully, that was all just your overthinking and your tooth was probably fine now. In seven days, everything was supposed to go back to normal, so you had your fingers crossed for a full recovery.
“Of course that would happen to you.” Junhui laughed at your misery. “Shit like this only happens to you.”
“Yeah, I get it. I’m the pinnacle of terrible luck.”
“So, what happened after? Did you make out with Soonyoung or something?”
“No!” you exclaimed. Your cheeks started to burn just at the thought. “How do you expect me to make out with someone when I look like this? Soonyoung drove me home like a gentleman. He’s not into me like that.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Shut up.” You rolled your eyes. “I don’t think I’ll be seeing him for a while, anyway. I don’t wanna start driving again until my tooth is fine.”
“Then maybe you can go on a different kind of ride with him instead.”
“You need to stop.”
Tumblr media
You didn’t see Soonyoung much over the next week. He told you that he had a few papers to finish before his schedule would clear up, so you were only able to text him occasionally and see him in passing, exchanging a greeting before one of you had to go.
You saw his friends a lot, though. They were always in the study room next to the one you and Junhui liked to use, so you would stop by their room often to see what they were up to. They were usually either messing around or using the whiteboard for everything but its intended purpose, so you enjoyed taking study breaks with them. Junhui was the type to not take breaks because he was locked in on his work once he got in the zone, so Soonyoung’s friends were a breath of fresh air.
Your Current Opinions on Soonyoung’s Friends:
Mingyu: Kind. Approached you whenever he saw you. Pleasant conversations. Swiped up on your Snapchat stories sometimes. Was unfortunately the only person you forgot to block from your story once when you posted a semi-thirst trap just for Soonyoung’s eyes.
Seungcheol: Friendly whenever he talked to you. A little awkward because you once saw him taking selfies at the gym instead of working out.
Seungkwan: Not super buddy-buddy but sweet enough. Liked making fun of Soonyoung with you. He brought you McDonald’s once and you imagined a future with him momentarily.
Word also got around that your front tooth had been knocked out clean. Seungcheol let it slip when he accidentally referred to you as ‘Toothless’ the other day. You made a mental note to kill Soonyoung later.
The next time you ran into your driving instructor on campus was outside one of your lecture halls. You walked out in the middle of class to fill up your hydroflask. It was especially hot today, and you were seconds away from heat exhaustion. Soonyoung’s brows lifted in pleasant surprise once he saw you, and he missed his elevator to walk up to you.
“Whoa.” You paused for a moment, unblinking. “I keep forgetting you go here.”
“I’m the hall monitor.”
“This is college. We don’t have hall monitors.”
“Self-elected,” was his response. “Speaking of, I don’t see your bathroom pass.”
“I’m not going to the bathroom. I’m filling up my water. Anyway, why would I—”
“Just this once, I’ll let you off with a warning,” he interjected, pulling out a card from the pocket of his jeans. He handed it to you, and you accepted it after a moment of hesitation. “There’s your bathroom pass. Don’t let me catch you loitering around here again.”
With that, Soonyoung walked off, leaving you utterly confused.
You flipped the business card around to see his name and number printed neatly in the middle, and you frowned in response. There was some other fine text on the back, but you didn’t take the time to read it properly as you were still baffled.
“I already have your number!” you called after him, but you just heard your driving instructor laugh to himself in response as he disappeared behind the elevator doors.
Later, after your classes ended, you went back to your study room with Junhui. He had been in the library since morning, deciding to skip his classes to prepare for his second round of midterms that he still had a few weeks for.
You told him about your encounter with Soonyoung, noting how strange it was that he casually had business cards on hand. Junhui asked to see the card, so you handed it over to him.
Upon closer inspection, Junhui raised his eyebrows, impressed. “Hall monitor rizz.”
“How was that rizz? He told me it was a bathroom pass and left.”
“Well, I’d consider it rizz since he’s asking you out on a date.”
Heat rose to your cheeks. “You think he’s asking me out on a date?”
“No, I know he’s asking you out on a date.” Junhui flipped Soonyoung’s business card around to show you the fine print: Schedule our first date with the number provided on the other side of this card. The corner of his mouth lifted. “Says it right here. He’s just shy, Y/N.”
“Shy? Him? He doesn’t look like the shy type.”
“He’s shy,” he affirmed, “around you, at least. I mean, you’d get shy around the person you liked, wouldn’t you?”
“I guess, but…” you trailed off, shaking your head. “No, this is normal, right? Dates are normal. We’re just two normal adults going on a normal date. Nothing weird about that, right? I shouldn’t feel so weird about this. Do I sound weird? Am I weird?”
You didn’t realize you had gotten up and started pacing until you turned to see Junhui looking at you with concern hanging in his brows. You sucked in a sharp breath and sank back into your seat, burying your face in your hands.
“I’m in way over my head,” you mumbled.
“You’re nervous ‘cause you have a crush on him,” he replied. “Nothing weird about that.”
“I have a crush on him,” you echoed, more so to yourself than to Junhui.
Although you were partly in denial, still tossing and turning the prospect of crushing on Soonyoung around in your head, Junhui took your words as confirmation. He hummed knowingly and turned back to his textbook, leaving you to ruminate for the next thirty minutes in silence before you excused yourself.
You were currently speed walking to your usual bus stop, hoping you would be able to stop thinking about Soonyoung and the business card tucked into your pocket. However, you couldn’t stop thinking about the possibility of you developing a tiny crush on him.
You hadn’t had a proper crush in ages. The last time you had strong feelings for someone was in high school, which promptly ended following your first date—after an eight month talking stage. You proposed going to the fair, which seemed fine until you threw up on the ferris wheel and received an ‘I don’t think this is going to work out’ text later that night.
And why were you so flustered over this, anyway? After all, you had been anticipating the day Soonyoung would make the first move. Plus, you were an adult; overthinking your feelings like this was so high school.
Whatever. You had nothing to lose.
You pulled out your phone to text Soonyoung, a small smile crossing your face once you caught sight of his profile picture again. It was a picture of him with all his hair flying every which way in the wind and his mouth open to yell some profanity.
y/n: date. y/n: this week any day
soonyoung (driving instructor): WHOA!!!!!!
y/n: what day what day what day what day what day what day what day what day what day what day what day what day what day
soonyoung (driving instructor): tomorrow night
y/n: okay
soonyoung (driving instructor): okay
y/n: okay.
soonyoung (driving instructor): okay. soonyoung (driving instructor): can’t wait
y/n: me neither
soonyoung (driving instructor): pick you up at 8
y/n: i’ll be ready
soonyoung (driving instructor): i’ll be even more ready
Your heart didn’t stop pounding for the rest of the day.
Tumblr media
To be a woman was to perform.
You were currently performing an illegal U-turn.
Soonyoung held onto the ‘oh shit’ handle fixed to the ceiling, his face contorted in absolute fear as he repeated, “Wrong lane, wrong lane, wrong lane, wrong lane, wrong lane—”
“Sorry!” you exclaimed, swerving back into your correct lane after checking your mirrors. You swallowed thickly before saying, “I’ve got it under control now, I think.”
Of course, you had been nervous the entire day and a half leading up to your date with Soonyoung, but how you felt right now had completely reigned over every emotion you were feeling before.
Throughout the day, you had butterflies in your stomach and a little skip to your step, but now you were terrified of things you had never even worried about before. The reason you took a U-turn in the first place was because Soonyoung told you that you missed the parking lot entrance, causing you to panic in the middle of the road (which, on your part, was not very smart.)
In short, Soonyoung should not have let you take the wheel, and you should not have gotten this worked up over him planning to take you to the local fair.
What were the odds that you were back in the place where you had an awful last date? You could almost feel the bile rising up your throat.
Soonyoung’s voice was unnaturally high-pitched when he asked, “A-are you sure you’re ready to schedule that driving test?”
“Yes! I’m ready,” you said, “but, to make things clear, my driving today is not representative of my driving any other day.”
Somehow, you and Soonyoung wound up making it to the fairgrounds’ parking lot in one piece. You deflated upon hearing the sigh of relief escape Soonyoung’s lips once the car was in park, but it was well deserved. You were surprised he even let you drive in the first place.
The fairgrounds were packed with people—mostly students—so there were several couples going around with their fingers interlocked. You were now hyper-aware of your fingertips, wondering if you’d get the chance to brush them against Soonyoung’s and slowly slide your hand into his.
He ended up paying for your ticket, and you didn’t have much room to argue about it because the employee was already taking his card before you even noticed. You told Soonyoung you would pay for something else—food, rides, raffle tickets—but he ended up covering everything for you. Of course, you were sure Junhui would have scolded you because turning down a guy paying for you was apparently equivalent to turning down the guy himself. So, you swallowed your pride and let Soonyoung take the lead.
You went on a few rides with Soonyoung, shared a churro, and you took a picture in front of the ferris wheel. You were having a great time, actually, and almost all of your nerves had all but melted away. All that was left to deem this a perfect date was to actually ride the ferris wheel, which was exactly what you were absolutely terrified of.
“Not good with heights?” Soonyoung asked as you two were getting into the seat, pulling down the lap bar for you two.
You wondered if you looked as ghastly as you felt. “Not so much.”
You weren’t good with a lot of things, to be fair.
Smooth talker Soonyoung took that as his opportunity to slip his hand into yours, lacing your fingers together with a shy smile on his face. “You can close your eyes if it gets scary, or just keep looking at me.”
Honestly, that sounded scarier than the possibility of plummeting to your death from the top of the ferris wheel. You weren’t sure your heart could handle staring at Soonyoung, especially with how flustered his gaze made you feel.
“Hey, could I ask you something?” you asked, nearly shying away when Soonyoung fixed his gaze on you. “When did you start liking me? I mean, I had no idea.”
“Uh…” The ride started moving backward as Soonyoung hummed in thought. “Probably that first time you were in my car?”
Your eyes went wide. “You mean our very first lesson?”
“Yeah, I thought you were cute—a little weird, but cute.” He grinned. “I think it was when you fell asleep over FaceTime that one night when I started catching feelings.”
Your cheeks burned. You weren’t sure if you could pinpoint a specific moment like he did; you just remembered your heart started beating faster when you saw him one day, and the rest was history. It was almost incredible how blindsided you were by his feelings, even though he had integrated himself into your daily life so naturally.
“And then you posted that one picture on your story once,” he continued, voice growing shy once he realized what he admitted out loud, “and that was when I knew I was really in too deep.”
You blanched with embarrassment. He must have been talking about the thirst trap because that was the only time you ever posted yourself so confidently. How were you going to explain that you blocked everyone else from your Snapchat story just for him to see that?
A nervous laugh bubbled from your lips. “About that—”
Before you could get any other words out, though, you became painfully aware of your surroundings. Your seat started swinging with the strong winds, and you realized that you were at the very top. If you leaned over enough, you were pretty sure your seat would tip over and drop you and Soonyoung right out. The very thought paralyzed you to the core.
Just as Soonyoung was in the middle of asking if you were okay, the ferris wheel started moving faster, and you yelped and clung onto him as you two went down. You were fine with the slow pace with breaks in between, but now that you were moving at full speed in one go, it was downright terrifying.
Soonyoung seemed to find it hilarious, though. He laughed and wrapped an arm around you while you were the very picture of fear. You buried your face into his chest and dug your nails in so hard that you were afraid he would feel them through his sweater.
Finally, it came to a stop. The ride operator started letting people out one seat at a time, but you and Soonyoung had ended up at the very top again. You raised your head to sit upright again, letting out an exasperated breath, but Soonyoung drew you closer. He was still laughing, and it made you blush uncontrollably.
“Just so you know, I’m good with any other ride!” you tried to defend yourself. “Well, actually, save for roller coasters and drop towers… oh, and—”
“Y/N,” Soonyoung cut you off with a smile, his voice hardly a murmur. Before, you could barely hear him over the excited cries and shouts in the fair, but now your attention had zeroed in on him. You felt disoriented as he placed his warm hand on your cheek, tilting his head and leaning in. “C’mere.”
You were too shy to admit it, but you had fantasized about making out with Soonyoung before. Of course, you never knew what type of kisser he was, so you just settled for whatever fantasy played out in your head.
Now, though, with his lips pressed against yours, you felt something hot and needy stir up inside you as he tugged you impossibly close to his body. Your stomach fluttered when you let slip a whimper, which Soonyoung didn’t let go unnoticed. He pulled back for a moment, his gaze darkening, promising to return to that later, and he returned to kissing you.
When you were almost near the ground, you and Soonyoung pulled away. There were definitely far too many children and parents around for you two to be kissing like that, but now you were anticipating how things would be once you two were alone.
“You two have fun?” the ride operator, who appeared to be an older teenager, asked with a teasing lilt to his voice.
All you could do was nod and duck your head in embarrassment while Soonyoung beamed brighter than the flashing lights.
Tumblr media
You spent some more time with Soonyoung on a few more (tamer) rides before you two decided to call it a day. Your feet were getting sore, so he courteously offered to drive the both of you home. However, you had an itching feeling that he just didn’t want you behind the wheel again.
“Wanna get something to eat?” he asked once you both were inside the car, and he turned his head around as he reversed. “There’s a good froyo place down the street.”
“Yeah, let’s do that,” you agreed quickly. Deep down, you were hoping this date wouldn’t end just yet.
Soonyoung played Olivia Rodrigo’s new album as he drove, rolling the window down so that the wind tousled his hair. You thought he looked cute that way, and you had to keep your hand under your thigh to keep it from reaching over and running it through his locks.
When he parked in front of the froyo place, it appeared completely dark inside. It was also evidently clear that the only cars parked in the lot were the overflow crowd of people from the fair who couldn’t get a parking spot at the fairgrounds.
“Did we miss it?” He frowned, pausing to look up the store hours on his iPhone. “Man. I didn’t want our date to end like this.”
“I don’t want it to end, either.”
Soonyoung looked over at you, studying your expression carefully before asking, “Do you wanna chill in the back for a while, then?”
You knew what that meant. And you had specifically worn your matching lingerie set just for this moment.
You unlatched your seatbelt, and Soonyoung followed suit right after. “Yeah, I’m down.”
“Wait, there’s something I need to do first,” Soonyoung said in a soft voice, looking down at you with gentle eyes.
For a moment, your heart jumped to your throat. The way he was looking at you sent butterflies to your stomach, and you couldn’t even imagine what he was going to do next. Something about his tone was so sincere that you were sure he was going to kiss you, especially when he started leaning down.
You let your eyes flutter shut, waiting for his soft lips to meet yours. Your heartbeat felt like a drum in your ears.
But nothing happened. No kiss. Nothing.
You opened your eyes to see what Soonyoung was doing. When you saw him hunched over, fiddling with something near his ankles, your face deadpanned—not a flicker of amusement.
Soonyoung had put his Crocs in sports mode.
First of all, wearing Crocs on the first date was absurd.
Second of all, putting your Crocs in sports mode on the first date was absolutely preposterous.
Yet, it was the perfect thing Soonyoung had done to put your nerves completely at ease. You ended up bursting into laughter at the very sight, making his head shoot up while his eyebrows were drawn together, perplexed. However, he happened to hit his head on the steering wheel as he did so, which only made you laugh even harder.
Your sudden surge of confidence spurred you to crawl over the gear stick and straddle his lap. Shocked, Soonyoung gripped your thighs and straightened up. Before his lip could curl up in amusement, you wrapped your arms around his neck and slotted your lips with his.
He broke for air for a moment, breathing out, “Well, hi.”
“Hi.” Your nose gently bumped against his. “Having second thoughts?”
“No!” he exclaimed, rubbing his hands up and down your sides. “I just didn’t wanna start anything because I wasn’t sure if you were ready.” He threw a glance over his shoulder before looking out the window. “Plus, this place isn’t exactly private.”
You looked out the window while Soonyoung’s warm hands returned to your thighs. It was true that there were empty cars around, but there weren’t any people in sight. It was still early in the night, so you were sure people would stay at the fairgrounds until midnight.
“Hey,” Soonyoung started again, “what was that you were gonna say on the ferris wheel? Before we, uh, made out.”
“Oh.” Shame bubbled in your chest when you realized what he was talking about. “Nothing important.”
“Tell me.”
Moonlight shone in from the window, illuminating the side of Soonyoung’s face and his neck, showing off his prominent collarbones. His low voice reached your core in a way you had never experienced before. You flushed with embarrassment because you were certain Soonyoung could feel how you clenched.
You looked out the window, as if you could mentally escape through it. Find a way to get out of the situation you were in.
“Fine.” He huffed lightly before placing a hand behind your neck and drawing you closer. “I’ll just get it out of you, then.”
Notably flustered, you gasped when Soonyoung’s lips latched onto the side of your neck, biting and sucking the tender skin. You croaked out some lame lie about forgetting what you were trying to say, but Soonyoung persisted. He ravaged the column of your neck like it was the only thing keeping him grounded.
You scooted up on his lap, sitting right on top of his growing bulge, which roused a throaty groan from him. You could feel Soonyoung twitch under you, and it was all that was needed for you to start grinding your hips slowly on his lap. And then he started guiding your hips down onto him. Your breath hitched when you felt his fingers dig into the grooves of your hips to take control of your motions.
“Tell me,” he beseeched, and you shivered when you could feel his smile against your jawline.
You let out a whine. “It’s embarrassing.”
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, distracted as he looked up at you like you were the most precious thing in the world. His hands never left your hips as he watched you grind down on his lap. Soonyoung’s eyes were unfocused for a moment before clarity bled back into him. “It was about the Snapchat story, right? That one picture you posted.”
“I don’t remember what that was,” you attempted to lie smoothly, but you were pretty sure your expression betrayed you once Soonyoung slid a hand under your shirt to cup your chest.
“Yeah, you do. The one where you were wearing those thigh-high stockings.” You saw a flash of darkness in his eyes. “Can’t believe everyone got to see you like that.”
“I wouldn’t say everyone,” you muttered.
“Hm?”
His thumb, after his hand managed to creep under your bra, found purchase on your nipple, rolling and circling around the supple flesh as he pleased. You only managed to let out a cry before Soonyoung was pressing you further, ordering you to answer him before he made you fall apart.
You were so caught up in your own pleasure, practically chest-to-chest with Soonyoung, that you hardly noticed the knock on the window until Soonyoung jolted upright and straightened his back.
“Fuck,” he cursed under his breath, voice still thick with lust that was ebbing away. Thankfully, you both were still mostly clothed, but Soonyoung had his pants nearly down and you had your shirt riding up past your waist.
The officer stopped knocking to give Soonyoung the opportunity to roll the window down after he was decent. It was evidently an uncomfortable situation for both parties. You turned your head to the side, screwing your eyes shut and hoping you would blink out of existence if you tried hard enough. You never thought you would have a cop at your window before even getting your license.
“Hi,” he greeted sheepishly once the window was down. “Sorry, we’ll get going now.”
“Yeah, uh…” The officer trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck with a long-winded sigh. “I’ll let you off with a warning this time, but keep it in the bedroom, please.”
“Thanks…” Soonyoung trailed off, looking for some sort of identification tag.
“Officer Hong,” he answered flatly.
“Thanks, Officer Hong.”
“Don’t let me catch you two again.”
“Oh, probably not me, but once she gets her license then it’s over for—ow!” Soonyoung yelped when you pinched him in the side, effectively shutting him up. He immediately apologized, “Sorry, Officer Hong, it won’t happen again.”

The encounter with the police officer was awkward, yes, but somehow, Soonyoung was unfazed once you two had gotten off with the warning. He coolly looked up at you and asked if he could come over to your place tonight. You agreed, of course.
The drive home was perfectly fine. Soonyoung made sure you weren’t too startled by the officer and asked how you liked the fair. You thought it was all pleasant conversation that would continue once you were in your living room, but Soonyoung pinned you up against your front door as soon as you were inside.
His strong arms caged you in his hold, and you could only helplessly look up at him and warble out some pathetic question, asking if he wanted water or snacks. He turned the offer down, obviously.
Since you two had already gotten this far, you figured you might as well let Soonyoung in on your little secret. Although it was slightly humiliating to admit, you realized tonight that far more embarrassing things had happened to you.
“You really wanna know, don’t you?” When he nodded in response, you sighed and explained, “What I posted on my story… I blocked everyone else so that only you’d see it.”
Well, him and Mingyu, but the latter was purely accidental.
Hearing your words flipped a switch in Soonyoung and he completely froze up, as if he had stopped functioning altogether.
“Well, technically, you and Mingyu,” you rambled on, “but that’s only because I forgot to block him from my story. You know, I have, like, two hundred people on Snapchat, so I figured I’d accidentally skip over someone, anyway. But I don’t think he even paid any attention to it. I feel like he’d—”
He cut you off by sealing his lips over yours, and all the noise in your head simmered down. All the fluff filling up your brain billowed and sank back down. You remembered when you were a middle schooler, giggling and replaying the scenes in movies that were exactly like this. Now that you were actually living in it, though, you couldn’t get enough of Soonyoung.
He broke away for a breather, lips hanging barely an inch from yours and your foreheads touching. His heavily-lidded eyes found yours, gazing at you longingly through his lashes.
“No offense,” he started with a smirk, “but I don’t really care about Mingyu right now.”
You opened your mouth to respond, but you shut it as soon as you realized that you had nothing intelligent to contribute. You recognized that most of your mindless ramblings probably killed the mood—for you, at least.
He pressed a kiss to your cheek, then your jaw, then the side of your neck. As he moved down to your chest, Soonyoung’s kisses grew sloppier and open-mouthed. He tugged at your shirt, and you helped him remove it with ease, snapping your bra off in the process and letting it fall to the floor. His hungry gaze upon seeing you bare before him made you ache for more. Soonyoung let out a groan and let his tongue drag over your nipple, circling and flicking around the sensitive skin until you were moaning shamelessly.
With his head ducked so that his lips could ravage your chest, Soonyoung bent down just a little bit more to wrap his arms around your thighs. He scooped you up in his arms swiftly, making you yelp, and he walked you to your bedroom after you whispered where your room was. He was so strong that you hardly had to hold onto him, but his strength was a double-edged sword because he had you pinned down on your bed in seconds.
A grin crossed Soonyoung’s face as his lips returned to your chest. This time, his lips made their way down your body, to your stomach. You curled your hand in his hair, tugged hard because you wanted more, but Soonyoung was relentless with his teasing. He pressed hot, open-mouthed kisses that made you squirm under him and ache for more. They were slow and torturous, and you only grew more needy as he made his way down.
“Can I take these off?” he asked, fingers slipping into the waistband of your pants.
“Only if you take your clothes off, too.”
You heard him chuckle before you felt cold air starting to hit your bare skin. Soonyoung unzipped your pants and tugged them down your legs until they were bunched up at your ankles, which you struggled to kick off until he bent down to move the fabric off your heel. You shuddered when he snapped the band of your underwear, hooking his fingers at the sides and twisting the fabric. He sure was enjoying toying with you, and you weren’t sure you could handle any more teasing. After what felt like forever, Soonyoung pulled the last of your undergarments down and marveled at your bare body.
“You’re unbelievable,” he all but growled, running his hands down your sides, to your hips, and past your thighs. “I can’t believe I get to have you like this.”
You sat up, looking up at him with a pout, which only seemed to drive Soonyoung to the brink of madness.
“You’re still clothed,” you observed.
“Yes.”
“Take it off.” You folded your arms across your chest. “I can’t be the only one naked.”
“Whatever you say, princess,” he replied with a laugh. You supposed he could see your expression falter, nearly letting some pathetic sound fall from your lips, so Soonyoung cooed at you and ran his thumb over your lower lip. “Oh, you like that? Like it when I call you princess?”
You did like it. You liked it too much for your own good, and it was almost humiliating.
Soonyoung towered over you as he peeled off his shirt, grabbing it from the nape of his neck and slipping it off in seconds. Your eyes ran over his beautiful expanse of skin, from every defined muscle in his abdomen to the little goosebumps that pricked his arms. You reached out to run your fingers down his abs, letting them trace each groove and dip in muscle. Soonyoung shivered at your very touch, but he allowed you to make your way down to undo his belt and pants.
Your fingers were fumbling, but you managed to remove the latch after several failed attempts. He guided you with his steadier hands, but you were determined to do it yourself. Finally, you pulled his belt free and pushed his pants down his legs.
He seemed to be slightly embarrassed, but Soonyoung was already rock hard. His cock sprang up so that the tip pushed past the waistband of his boxers.
“Don’t worry about that,” he grumbled, sinking to his knees and placing his hands on your thighs. “I’ll take care of you first.”
He grabbed your knees and pushed them apart, staring at your soaked cunt like it was everything he ever wanted. Soft kisses peppered the inside of your thighs, working up to the apex of your legs. You felt the cold air hit your core and shivered, but then it was hot all over again once Soonyoung licked one long, slow stripe that made you writhe and cry out in bliss. He had to press your hips down to keep you from moving too much.
But his movements were so slow and torturous. You were going insane by how much Soonyoung was teasing you with his kitten licks and lazy drags of tongue. Tears welled up in your eyes by the time you had been edged away from another impending orgasm, with him letting his dissolve as soon as the heat bloomed under your skin.
Kissing your cunt. Plunging his tongue into your core. Licking at your walls until they trembled and shook with the warning of release. You were agonized by how good Soonyoung was making you feel.
“Please,” you begged, your voice breathless as your body felt lightweight, “let me cum, please.”
“Hm.” He seemed to consider it for a moment before saying, “Tell me three things you like about me, and I’ll let you cum.”
You laughed, but it died on your tongue as soon as you realized there was no amusement on his face.
“You’re kidding, right?” You swallowed hard, knowing you had your answer already. “Oh, you’re not kidding.”
He was making you work for your orgasm. This was mortifying; you never expected Soonyoung to be so cruel, and you never expected it to be so hot.
“Three things, baby,” he said. “Start with number one.”
“One,” you started, your voice shaky as Soonyoung returned to snaking his tongue past your folds, “I like how you treat me so well and look after me, like—oh, right there—yeah, like that.”
“Two,” you continued, more so in a whimper because Soonyoung was skillfully using his tongue to reach places you never thought to stimulate before. “I, ah—I like the way you look at me and when you tell me I’m beautiful.” You sucked in your teeth when you felt him press his tongue flat against your clit. “Soonyoung, please.”
“One more,” he murmured.
“T-three,” you breathed out, and by this point, your legs were already shaking. Your brain was turning to mush and you couldn’t help but clench at Soonyoung lapping at your soaked cunt. The tremor in your voice was unmistakable when you admitted, “I love how you’re so much better at this than I ever could’ve imagined.”
He breathed out a laugh against your cunt. “Am I really?” He tightened his grip on your hips to suck on your clit, making your back arch and your chest feel light. “You think about me that often, princess?”
“Mmhm,” you confirmed with your eyes screwed shut. “Thought about you whenever I was—”
“Don’t finish that,” he warned, though it almost sounded like he was pleading with you, “or I’ll go crazy.”
Your nerves felt like they had tangled themselves into several knots that kept tightening in your stomach. You shuddered and moaned with each motion of Soonyoung’s tongue that brought you closer to your release. He was merciless with the way he dipped his tongue in your core, rubbing your clit with his thumb in slow circles.
Your walls tightened one last time before you were finally blinded by your white-hot orgasm, and you hardly even realized that hot tears were streaming down your cheeks. Soonyoung was eating you out unabated, not even giving you a break between each wave of pleasure that hit you. After your climax subsided and coherency gradually bled back into you, Soonyoung finally pulled back and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
You grabbed his arm before he could say anything. Soonyoung looked you in the eyes for a moment, alarmed, but the worry knitting his brows together melted away once you pulled him down for a proper kiss.
With your arms wrapped around his neck and his knee between your legs, Soonyoung eventually found himself lowering his body until your chests were pressed together. He kept himself up by his elbows and pulled away to look at you. He brushed your hair out of your face and leaned in for another kiss.
As you two became a tangled mess of limbs, wrapped up in each other and far too occupied to care about anything but making out, you moved your hand down Soonyoung’s abs to wrap your hand around his cock. He groaned against your lips and rocked his hips against your touch.
“You’re so fucking hot,” he murmured, his voice low and thick with lust. After reaching back to tug his boxers down, freeing his cock from the restricting fabric, Soonyoung looked down at you with desire glazing over his eyes. “May I?”
“Please do,” you answered.
You cried out when he started rubbing the head of his cock against your cunt, teasing your folds like he did before. You were aching already despite your previous orgasm, and you thought you were going to die on the spot from how needy you were.
“Turn onto your stomach,” he ordered. You were confused for a moment, but you ended up being manhandled by Soonyoung, anyway. He flipped you over and positioned himself at your entrance, keeping one hand on the back of your neck. “Good girl.”
The side of your face was pressed into the sheets, and your hands were desperately reaching for anything that gave you proper leverage. You ended up grabbing onto the pillows just as Soonyoung started pushing his cock inside you. You swallowed down the gasp that dared threaten to escape, and Soonyoung pressed kisses to your face and made sure you weren’t crying from how big he was.
With more filth and praises whispered into your ear, you were clenching and unclenching around him, making Soonyoung groan whenever he felt you tighten. It took a while for him to ease his way into you, but once Soonyoung had finally nestled inside of you, it was as if a switch flipped in him.
He was thrusting as soon as you gave him the green light. You were blindsided by how intense he was, hardly having any control over your own body as you held onto the sheets for dear life. Soonyoung held your hips with a bruising grip as he fucked into you.
Hot.
Everything felt hot and sticky. Your sweat-matted hair clung to the back of your neck, and you felt like your sheets were uncomfortably damp. Despite it all, though, you couldn’t get enough. You needed more, wanted more. Soonyoung was relentless, even when your box springs creaked and the frame rattled against the wall.
You felt his cock twitch inside of you. “Fuck. You’re taking me so well.”
Still overly-sensitive from your previous orgasm, it didn’t take long for you to reach your limit a second time. Soonyoung pounded into you with fervor, and even he was quickly falling apart.
“That’s it,” he got out, teeth gritted. “That’s my girl.”
You pulled him down for a deep kiss, muffling both of your moans once you were clenching uncontrollably around him. You were falling from your peak and Soonyoung fucked you through your orgasm, even though he was on the verge of one himself.
He pulled out right before he was about to cum, and you could only hear his groans before you realized he had gotten off, too. For a moment, you thought Soonyoung abandoned you on the bed. His voice sounded distant all of a sudden, and you were too tuckered out to move.
Then, he returned with a towel and several tissues for you. You turned onto your back again to make out his silhouette entering the room and taking a seat next to you. Your eyes were shut as Soonyoung cleaned you up, and you only opened them once he pushed your hair back and kissed your cheek.
“Wanna go again?” he asked with a grin. You were impressed by how quickly he was able to recover. You, on the other hand, needed a few minutes to recuperate. “The night’s still young.”
“Yeah, sure, if you use a condom this time,” you breathed out, turning over onto your side. “Just give me five.”
You closed your eyes for a moment, letting your chest rise and fall until its rhythm steadied. Your breathing was even again, but when you opened your eyes, you saw neon green glowing in the middle of the room.
“Soonyoung.” You pinched the bridge of your nose and sighed. You were not getting dicked down by manga censorship. “Why is your dick glowing?”
“I prefer glow-in-the-dark condoms.”

Typically, when two individuals had feelings for each other, it would often bloom into a relationship.
It was quite clear that you had feelings for Soonyoung and he had feelings for you, so, naturally, one would expect the two of you to start dating. However, it felt like you both were testing the waters around each other instead—dipping your toes into the dating pool. You two were exclusive, but not exactly together.
You were perfectly content with taking things slow, but that didn’t necessarily mean Soonyoung didn’t end up over you almost every other night. The sex was great, of course. Mind-blowing, even.
Seungcheol, Mingyu, and Seungkwan seemed to catch on quickly. There was no mistaking what was going on after you went over to their apartment to play Catan, and then you and Soonyoung disappeared into his room afterward. The next morning, when you walked downstairs in Soonyoung’s shirt to eat breakfast with everyone, you could pick up on their unspoken realization that you were hooking up with their roommate.
Seungkwan even made an offhand comment about you and Soonyoung being a thing—whatever that was supposed to mean.
You debriefed Junhui on the entire situation, of course. He seemed less surprised about you sleeping with Soonyoung, though, and more interested in the outcome of your driving test (which, you had to admit, you were terribly worried about).
The night before your dreaded behind-the-wheel exam, you received a call from Soonyoung.
You weren’t sure what to expect when you picked up the call. You knew that he’d been planning on getting high with his housemates today, so you weren’t exactly sure if this phone call was going to be private or not. You were half-expecting Seungcheol to answer for him instead.
“Hey,” Soonyoung greeted, voice slightly muffled. With the way the audio sounded, you suspected that he wasn’t holding onto his phone at the moment.
“Are you busy?” you asked.
“No, just trying to get the pod you gave me out of its packaging.” You heard a few strained grunts from him before he exclaimed, “I got it!”
“I’m proud of you.”
“That’s what I’ll be telling you after you ace that driving test,” he said. He paused for a moment (which you guessed was him taking a hit). “You ready for it, by the way?”
“Not really.” You sucked in a sharp breath. “The good news is that taking years to pass the permit test has helped me memorize all the rules of the road; the bad news is that I have severe anxiety and probably won’t be able to utilize anything I’ve learned.”
“You’ll be fine, Y/N. You drove just fine with me, didn’t you?”
“But that’s you! How am I gonna drive properly with some scary old guy who probably hasn't ever smiled in his life?”
“Just relax. Remember to slow down on your turns and check your blind spots when you’re changing lanes.”
Your voice grew shy when you admitted, “This is gonna sound weird, but I kind of miss our driving lessons.”
“Even when you lost your tooth?”
You grimaced. “Even then.”
Soonyoung laughed along with you for a moment before he simmered. The silence on the other side of the line didn’t feel uncomfortable, but you felt like each nerve end of yours was on fire.
“I didn’t want it to end either, Y/N,” Soonyoung said after a while, his voice dropping an octave.
“Really?”
“I don’t wanna be in a world where we aren’t in a car together, whether I’m telling you to stop driving under the speed limit or we’re crashing into that Honda Civic that knocked your front tooth out,” he started, and you scratched the back of your head. Yeah, he was definitely high. “And, maybe… maybe the missing front tooth was really the catalyst for all the memories we made along the way. Maybe, in another universe, that tooth never fell out—or existed. Maybe the concept of that occurrence manifested into this universe as a—”
“Okay, it was cute at first,” you interrupted, “but you’re definitely in that other universe right now.”
Tumblr media
You had never been this much of a nervous wreck.
Actually, scratch that. You were probably this much of a nervous wreck at least thrice a week. You functioned on being anxious several times a day, so this was honestly not a new feeling. The only problem was that you had never driven with anyone other than Soonyoung, so you were slightly on edge as you turned into the DMV.
“Please return my car in one piece,” Soonyoung said, holding onto the ‘oh shit’ handle as you went over a speed bump, which you found highly unnecessary. He pointed to the starting point for the driving test. “I’ll wait for you outside the building over there.”
“Sounds good.”
“And remember: if you’re gonna fail the test, make sure you fail it big time. Don’t fail it by going ten over the speed limit, or something boring like that.”
“That’s terrible advice, Soonyoung.”
“I’m playing. You’re gonna be just fine.”
“Thanks, I’m just so—oh my god!”
You stepped on the breaks immediately, gripping the wheel tight as the car lurched forward. The man who was crossing in front of you doubled over onto the hood of the car before standing upright again. You rolled your window down to yell an apology, but the man paid you no attention and kept walking with a scowl on his face.
“I almost killed him!” you cried, slapping a hand over your mouth.
“Well…” Soonyoung didn’t seem to know how to reassure you as he was still immobilized with fear himself. He managed a shaky grin. “On the bright side, he’s alive and you’re not facing a lawsuit.”
You swallowed hard. There was no way this exam was going to go well.
After handing in the necessary paperwork inside the DMV, they approved you to go outside for your driving test. Since Soonyoung was letting you use his car while he waited outside, he sat with you until your examiner came by. He did everything he could to calm you down, but, ultimately, it was up to you to pass.
While Soonyoung was giving his seat up for your examiner, you closed your eyes and tried to take deep breaths to mentally prepare.
“Ma’am, can you turn on your left turn signal?” the examiner asked from your window.
When you turned to look at him, you felt something inside you shrivel up and die.
The man you almost ran over was your examiner.
In your daze, you managed to follow his instructions as he asked you to point out various things, such as the windshield wipers, defroster, and foot brake. All the while you were already preparing yourself for failure because there was absolutely no way this man was going to let you pass after almost becoming your victim.
Once the pre-drive safety check was over, he circled around the car to sit in the passenger’s seat, looking down at his clipboard for a moment. You held your tongue, hands clasped together in your lap. Were you supposed to apologize? Would he even care about your apology? It wouldn’t hurt to say sorry, right?
You started in a meek voice, “Oh, about what happened earlier, I’m so—”
“I’m Jeonghan, and I’m gonna be scoring your behind-the-wheel test today,” he cut you off with an air of indifference, looking back down at his clipboard. “Whenever you start the car is when the test begins.”
“Right—yes, okay.” You swallowed thickly and gripped the wheel, looking behind you to make sure no one was coming. Since there were a few cars driving by, you decided to wait for a moment. “A-are you having a good day?”
“I was.”
You wanted to crawl in a hole and drop dead.
After the road was clear, you turned out of the DMV and started driving down the road, checking your speed and mirrors every so often. You had always been comfortably driving with Soonyoung, who would just help you reroute if you missed a turn. Now, though, if you missed anything Jeonghan said, you were going to fail (and probably die).
“Take the right coming up here,” he instructed.
You remembered your turn signal and to look back over your shoulder. Soonyoung had taught you well, but you were afraid that his gentle instructions would only take you so far. Jeonghan was the most intimidating person you had come across (mostly because you almost killed him), and you should not have been trusted to drive someone you were terribly scared of.
After you made the turn, you sighed in relief at the long stretch of road ahead. You attempted to cover it up by clearing your throat and making small talk with Jeonghan.
“It’s pretty cold today, isn’t it?” you asked. Stupid question. You had no idea how cold it was. Soonyoung’s car felt like a sauna because you cranked up the heater, or maybe the heat was from how nervous you were.
Jeonghan promptly ignored you. “Change lanes and take the next left.”
Albeit your state of disarray, you followed what he said. You decided to give up on small talk altogether, coming to the conclusion that Jeonghan just hated you and didn’t want to converse with the person who almost murdered him in cold blood.
You were pretty confident that the rest of your driving test went horribly. You almost went ten under the speed limit to make sure you didn’t run over anyone else in the school zone, you shrieked when the railroad lights turned on and you had to wait for the train to pass by, and you looked both ways about five times when you were at a stop sign.
Jeonghan told you to park the car once you reached the DMV, so you pulled into an empty parking space. You were praying that he wasn’t still grading you because you were most definitely occupying two parking spaces right now.
“Okay, so,” he started, looking at his clipboard before turning to you with a deadpan stare, “you drive too slow.”
Oh. That was intentional because you didn’t want to deal with another hit and run, but you stayed quiet and nodded.
“And,” he continued, “you overthink too much when you’re behind the wheel. Don’t hesitate before you stop or make turns, or you’re just gonna run into trouble that way. You can’t be paranoid about driving, otherwise it’s gonna be hard for you to be on the road.”
You pressed your lips together in a tight line. This was it. He was going to fail you. There was no way you were going to pass when you were being criticized for your entire performance. You didn’t blame Jeonghan, though; you probably wouldn’t pass the person who almost ran you over, either.
“Well, you were cutting it really close,” he said, circling some parts of your examination sheet, “but you passed.”
Your eyes grew wide.
You passed.
You passed.
You turned to Jeonghan and cried out, “I passed?!”
“You know your car, you know the rules of the road, and you did all your maneuvers just fine,” he continued. “You slowed down in the school zone to make sure you didn’t hit any kids, and you were careful about your turns and stops. Just remember not to be too careful, though, or you might run into someone.”
For the first time, you heard a small snicker of amusement come from him.
“I—I’m so sorry about that,” you blurted out. “I thought you were gonna fail me for hitting you with the car.”
“Like I said, the test begins when you start the car.” He handed you your papers and got out of your car. Before closing the door, he turned to you with his clipboard tucked under his arm. “You should go tell the DMV you passed and get your temporary license before I mark you down for this parking job.”
You gulped, unbuckling your seatbelt in a rush. “Will do.”
Jeonghan stalked off to grade another new driver, you supposed. When you got out of the car, your eyes immediately scanned the perimeter to search for Soonyoung, and there he was, waving you over from the sidewalk with a bright grin on his face.
Before you could even make your way over and break the news to him, he yelled out with his hands cupped around his mouth, “That’s my girl!”
You blushed, stopping in your tracks and staring at him for so long that it took a car honking at you to propel you back into motion. You scrambled over to Soonyoung, eyes wide as saucers and still frazzled from the emotional turmoil you went through with Jeonghan.
He wrapped an arm around you. “You know, no matter the result, I’m proud of you for trying. There’s always next time, you know?”
“Soonyoung—”
“Did everything else go well, though? Other than you almost killing him, obviously.”
“Soonyoung, I—”
“It was probably just bad luck, honestly. I mean, it was a recoverable bump, not even a full-on crash! You were going so slow that anyone could walk that off.”
“Soonyoung!” you yelled, thrusting your score sheet into his hands. “I passed!”
His eyes widened. “You passed?!”
“I passed!” you squealed. “I have to tell Junhui! I mean, he totally thought I was gonna fail my first two or six tries!”
Soonyoung crushed you into a hug, which would’ve been more endearing if your ribs weren’t being squeezed so hard. “Holy shit, Y/N, I’m so proud of you.”
You giggled, wrapping your arms around his neck and drawing him closer. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“Be my girlfriend,” he spoke against your neck, his hot breath tickling your skin, and you immediately froze.
Kwon Soonyoung wanted to be your boyfriend. Even with everything that had happened—from the STIIZY pods, to the car crash, to the glow-in-the-dark condom—you still felt relief flooding your veins at the thought of Soonyoung liking you as much as you liked him. It almost felt like you were in a dream.
After what felt like an eternity, you finally remembered how to breathe.
You pulled back to look at him, and even though it was the middle of the day, it felt like all the stars were out to make Soonyoung shine brighter than usual.
“Be my girlfriend,” he repeated, softer this time, and his eyes were gentle as his hands reached for yours. Your lips immediately tugged down and your eyes were welling up with tears. “No, no, no, Y/N, don’t start crying at the DMV.”
You wiped at the corner of your eye. “I can’t help it. I always cry at the DMV.” He smiled down at you fondly, waiting for you to gather your composure. You mustered up the strength to lift your head and nod eagerly. “I accept.”
He was your boyfriend now. The word felt strange on your tongue, but it also filled you with inexplicable happiness. And when you saw how Soonyoung’s eyes crinkled at the corners, you thought you could definitely get used to this.
“You’re so cute.” He laughed, pulling you into his embrace once again. “How about we go get something to eat after you tell them your score?”
You grinned. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
While Soonyoung was waiting in the car for you (and probably readjusting your terrible parking job before he got yelled at), you walked into the DMV and stood in the same line you were in months ago for your permit test. You remembered the anxious feeling of possibly failing your written test a seventh time, but now you felt a huge weight being lifted off your shoulders.
“I did it,” you gushed to the woman at the counter, handing her your score sheet. “I passed.”
“Congratulations!” she chirped, examining the papers before turning to type something on her computer. She turned to grab your temporary license from the printer and handed it to you. “Here you go. Your real one should come in the mail in a few weeks.”
“Thank you so much,” you replied, inspecting your new license with bright eyes.
You failed your permit test six times, only passing on your seventh attempt. While other children were getting their licenses at the age of sixteen, you were still trying to pass the written test in your twenties. And, yes, you had severe driving anxiety, but you crossed that hurdle yourself and finally passed your driving test on your first try.
So, that glass ceiling? Consider it smashed.

heyyyy!! my brain gave me a half-assed thought in the nighttime starring best friend/perv!Lee Minho and bimbo!Reader. Minho's ALWAYS flirting with and staring at you, but you just (somehow) never notice. he likes seeing you wear those little outfits that barely cover you up and always mentions that you should only wear that stuff for him. one day he was just at his limit after another failed attempt at flirting. so, he just pushes you against the wall. you can feel how hard he is behind you, but you didn't see this coming so you're freaking out. and he just tells you "i'm gonna have what i want. so you might as well take what i give you."
-💌 (p.s. i hope this was coherent) ((p.p.s. make sure you take time for yourself to rest and just breathe bc that beautiful mind of yours is so so important!! <3))

You did not particularly deal well with being unliked. Everybody has to like you all the time and there is no concrete way to tell your best friend this. Especially while he's driving down the highway, with rain pellets beating down the windshield.
You did not look at Minho when you initially slipped into the car. So completely and utterly suffocated by embarrassment.
The call prior to being picked up had been less than savoury.
"Isn't it too early to be calling me to come save you from your date?" His voice was completely drenched in his ususual smug sarcasm, "Or was he just that fucking boring?"
"I've been stood up and I'm not exactly sure where I am."
Almost immediately, Minho forced you to send your location until he was speeding over to where you sat, in your little dress all alone under the awning of a Michelin star restaurant.
You had thought the worst of the evening was behind you…
The car is completely drenched in silence with neither you, nor Minho knowing exactly how the broach such a sensitive topic. You're embarrassed. He knows this. The only thing evading his understanding is why… Why are you embarrassed when you shouldn't be?
"At least give me a name or an address or something," Minho's voice is dangerously low and you peer up at him with wide eyes from the passenger seat. Seeing him so put together is wholly off putting. Dressed in nothing but his sweats and a polo shirt- all black, all Tom Ford- Minho's gaze is fucking deadly as he glares at the road ahead. His frustration manifests in the form of whitened knuckles gripping a steering wheel for dear life.
"Minho, I'm not giving you his address just so you can go and harass him." The fact that you even had to reiterate this is beyond your comprehension.
"I honest-to-God, just wanna have a word with the guy..." Minho says, swinging his head towards you, completely paralysing you with the depths of his endless dark eyes. Instead of waging a war with Minho (one you knew you couldn't possibly win,) you choose to accept defeat. It consumes your entire countenance as you sink down into the passenger seat, avoiding eye contact.
"Why can't anyone love me?" The rain droplets rattling Minho's vehicle only amplifies the question and for the umpteenth time tonight, Minho is overcome with mass frustration. Again, you should not be the one feeling unwanted. You should not be letting scum of the very earth dictate the trajectory of your self worth. To make matters impossibly worse, another car swerves into his lane, completely cutting him off from a seamless drive.
"Jesus, Fuck!" While Minho curses out the driver, you keep your head against the window.
"I think I'm cursed to stay single and bitchless for the rest of my life."
You didn't get it.
You were a fairly good girl, never once stepping out of bounds. Not at work: where you worked so diligently for a boss who didn't always deserve it.
Not in your adolescence: Where you never rebelled, not even once. You lovingly spared your parents all the heartache even after you matured enough to go to college.
Perhaps the reason all your dates ended with a certified ghosting was because you simply weren't cut out for relationships. That is the most harrowing thought of them all...
Minho's voice pipes up from beside you, effectively saving you from slipping into self pity, "I think you're overlooking one major factor when it comes to staying single and bitchless for the rest of your life," You're already rolling your eyes, "And what's that?"
You can practically hear the pompous smirk as Minho says, "I'm right here. I'm always right here."
Instead of responding, your tone remains wistful and airy.
"The guy took one look at me and gassed the fuck out of the restaurant." Your blood pressure is being shot to hell at just the very thought of the man (who had contacted you first, thank you very much).
"It's like he decided reality didn't match what he saw on tinder and took it all back..." you conclude your rant with a heavy and listless exhale.
Minho, who continued to glare at the wet tar road ahead, allows his mind to conjure up every possible way your 'date' might've died on his way home. Instead of voicing these homicidal thoughts, Minho instead, cleverly and cooly asks, "What kind of weirdos are you going on dates with?"
Your reply comes sickeningly quick. "The kind of weirdos that give me the time of day," and to make matters impossibly worse, you attach a pitiful and dry chuckle to the end of your sentence. "Not everyone is like you, Minho. Not everyone has the luxury of being the object of everyone's desires." His stomach sinks deeper and deeper with the sadness that coats your voice. Anything that might save him from this suffocating feeling at the bottom of his stomach brought on by the sadness in your tone.
"I just don't get it?" Your sad eyes watch as Minho pulls into the parking lot of his apartment complex.
"I didn't smell bad ‘cus I made sure to wear Chanel number five-" Minho can do nothing except clench his jaw. His grip on the steering wheel is deadly as he eases his car into the vacant spot… “and this dress Lix bought me for graduation- I mean he assured me I don't look fucking bloated in it so I assume I looked fine." He tries to make it through your pity party, really, he does. Whenever you found yourself in this state, slipping deeper and deeper into your insecurities, Minho found it terribly difficult to pull you out.
Difficult but not impossible
"I'm telling you," he chooses to say instead, righting his shoulders and cutting off the engine as he forces that confident smirk back onto his face, "If you wanna get laid so badly I'm always a phone call away...."
Instead of entertaining Minho's words, your mind wanders, “Maybe I'm just not hardwired for a relationship. Maybe all I'll have until I reach my deathbed is my rose toy and 5000 cats-”
“False. You have my fingers any time. Or my mouth-”
And for some reason, that statement alone… that one little flirt becomes the undoing of your sanity. “MINHO BE SERIOUS FOR FIVE FUCKING SECONDS JESUS CHRIST!” You do not know, nor do you care if your voice is loud enough to bleed outside, enough to disrupt any passerbys. You've fucking had it.
With men who disappoint you.
With men who say they'll show up but choose not to.
“I'm telling you I fucking failed this evening! I failed and you're not listening-
In what appears to be a snarky remark to the side, Minho mumbles, “I'm not the one that's not listening-”
“I don't need your teasing right now, Jesus! The fact that I have to spell that out-” you release a sigh “Fucking never mind,” you feel utterly defeated, and before you brain catches up to the movement of your hands, you're already typing frantically for a ride assistance app.
Minho scoffs incredulously. That sunshine smile bleeds quickly into a dangerous glare and he watches as you type frantically across your screen. “Say what you gotta say.”
“I didn't ask you to come pick me up, just so you could interrogate me-” before your sentence could become another uphill screaming match you shake your head in a way that has Minho's knuckles whitening across the inactive steering wheel. His patience was dwindling dismally and he had the vaguest suspicion that you know this.
In fact, you might have always known this: Which buttons to push to get which reaction.
He's noticed it for a while since the peroration of your ‘friendship’. Something that blossomed into a friendship when he so very clearly tried to make it everything but.
“I'm gonna take an Uber home,” you say in a tone he can only describe as bratty.
“I swear to fucking God.” he says, manic eyes crinkling at the sides in a smile of disablief, his tongue jutting against the inside of his cheek.
Minho's not sure what he wants to do but he's damn sure you're not going to like it. “If you set foot out of this car-” He pinches the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index. Quietly muttering Korean expletives while you sit meekly, taking your scolding. “If you set foot out this car-”
“You're not my father, Minho,” he flinches. “I'm getting my uber-”
“Try it, see what happens.”
“Minho, goodnight.”
The last thing you expect to feel as your hand touches the car handle, is Minho’s larger hand covering your wrist in a calloused grip. His hand is firm, almost concrete and before you're able to process this, he's already dragging your face towards him.
“W-What the f-fuck, Minho, let me go!” the words come out mangled and squashed because Minho has his hands squishing your cheeks in an equally iron grip. Enough to have your teeth pushing against the inside of your cheeks. Enough to have tears stinging your eyes.
“Why the fuck do you never listen?” He whispers, almost to himself. As if he's completely forgotten about the girl, leaning over the centre console because he's squishing her cheeks for dear life. You anticipate the bruises. You can almost feel them coming on.
“It's like you purposely want to piss me off-”
Despite the aircon pouring warm hair to combat the Korean chill you feel very much icy all over. It's as if the chill has seeped into your very bones and it's not long until you're completely wracked in a series of violent shivers. You have never experienced anything like this.
Minho watches in apparent awe at the way your pupils, dark as they, dilate into even darker slits. His hand shifts silently from your cheeks, to your jaw, and lower until his hand is wrapping around your neck.
“Are you wearing panties right now?”
The question hurtles through your foggy brain like a runaway train until you're forced to bore your eyes into his, “What?”
“Which pair are you wearing right now?” He asks, despite the hand already drifting from your neck, all the way down your body. He swipes his hand against your slightly damp skin, prying your thighs apart with his hand as if it were nothing. “I wanna see which you were planning to have on for him,” he knew he wouldn't like, whatever the outcome may be, but he's only just begun this game and he's not ready to stop.
“Minho.” Your hand shoots out to cradle his bicep, which proves to be a deeply harrowing mistake for someone as inexperienced as you are because his arms are so firm, so taut. You instinctively find your thighs opening just a fraction wider, even as you say, “I don't think we should do this.” You begin oh so slowly. Hoping to convey with your eyes, that which you refused to say with your lips. “I want you to stop.” Minho is absolutely breathless at the sight of the stars sparkling in your dazed eyes.
He knows exactly what you want and he's damn well going to give it to you. An escape.
“I've never known a bigger slut than you, you know that?” So casual. So forward. His words nearly have you whimpering into the quiet air.
“I can see how badly you want this,” Never ever letting his gaze stray from your helpless expression, Minho pushes his hand further into the apex of your thighs and you wait. You wait with bated breath for the euphoria to trickle in by the cold tips of his fingers touching the lace of your underwear. “You want it so bad, don't you?”
“I-I- don't,” you force the words out with your hands unknowingly wrapping themselves around Minho's forearm. “This whole time, you knew,” he laughs dryly as he lets the pad of his fingers finally reach your clothed cunt. Your legs are trembling. “You fucking knew I wanted you and yet you still went on your little date anyways,”
That has you momentarily slipping out of your subspace, but before he lets that happen, he's rubbing slow circles against your cunt, with his right hand, a hand closest to the console, easier to reach the most intimate parts of you.
“didn't know, Minho,” the whimpers leaving your mouth are soft, so intimate, like the colour pink personified and it has Minho squeezing his eyes shut for all of a few tense seconds.
When his eyes flutter open again, the old Minho is nowhere to be found. Gone is the overly flirty best friend. Gone is the unnecessary jokester. Gone is the dry humour. The only thing in its place is a stone whisper of a smirk as he says, “Ride my hand.”
“W-What-”
“You don't talk,” he says, before sliding your panties to the side, “Useless little girls don't get to talk.” He says, racking a moan from straight out your throat as his hand presses against your drenched heat. “Useless little girls don't even get to speak.”
“Minho-”
“All you think about is getting to cum, right?” There's so much of a condescending nature in its tone, it almost has you instinctively tightening your grip on the forearm between your legs and pushing your heat against his fingers. The sight of you so worked up by his bad words have Minho cursing under his breath.
You're watching him as if he invented the stars, as if to say ‘What else’, and it drives him to complete madness.
“F-Fuck,”
“She knows how to say bad words,” he cackles as you squish your soaked cunt against his calloused palm. His knuckles are pressed firmly into the seat and his wrist is giving out but his horny brain fog is far too powerful.
“That's it, Petal,” he says, watching almost as if slipping into his own trance, “fuck my hand, I wanna see how bad you want it-”
“P-Please-” You whisper, “I need your cock-”
“You don’t get to make demands when you're being punished,” he mumbles, before leaning his head back against his seat, watching you desperately try to bring yourself to orgasm by rutting your hips against his hand. “Unless, you don't need my help and you'd rather just make yourself cum-”
“NO!” you keep a firm grip on his forearm, bottom lip quivering as you stare at him with wide eyes. “I'm s-so close, please.”
Minho can't help it. The very act of you asking him for something as sacred as an orgasm… It has him trying to adjust the bulge forming in his sweatpants.
“You're close, yeah?” He asks, now entering his own pleasure. He slips his left hand into his boxers while he watches you ride his hand.
“You’re close from humping that wet pussy against my hand?”
“Oh god, yes,”
“You’re such a good fucking girl you know that?” His breathing is heavy now because he's jerking himself off to the same pace as your cunt rubbing itself against his hand.
“You're such a good whore,” he whispers.
“Call me that again- p-please I’m gonna cum!”
“I've always wanted to treat you like the whore I know you are,” he whispers, watching as your eyes slip to the back of your skull, “I hated watching you go on those dates.”
“M-Minho-”
“Kill them,” he whispers silently, “I’ve fucking wanted to kill every single one of them.” he squeezes his cock, feeling his own ripples of pleasure shoot down your spine.
“Y-Yours,” you whisper, “I'm yours-”
“F-Fuck baby-” Sensing Minho slipping into his own prgasm, you grind your cunt harder against his hand. It doesn't take much for you to make a complete mess all over his seats. You're both wracked with a wave of shivers and Minho tries to keep his eyes open as he milks his cock for all it's got. He wants to watch your hips stutter. He wants to see how you look when you cum and he wants to commit it to memory.
He decides it's the most addictive thing he's ever seen.
“No fucking way you made me cum all over myself like some fuckcing teenager,” he grumbles, staring down at the mess he's made all over his shirt.
You're still a panting shivering mess and you yelp when Minho squeezes your sensitive, overstimulated clit.
“Hey,” he says, gaining your attention immediately, “No more dates yeah?”
You do nothing but nod.

Some notes for anyone writing a character with glasses, from someone who wears glasses everyday:
- glasses need to come off before changing a shirt, unless it has a really big collar. Otherwise, glasses will get ripped off by said shirt collar.
- weather will affect how well you can see out of them, especially rain. Raindrops will dot glasses and it’s like trying to drive a car in the rain without working windshield wipers. Snow sometimes does this too, but not as bad, and lots of dust kicking up will make glasses dirty and foggy. If it’s humid enough (talking like swampy, Deep South levels, weather app says “90-100% humidity”), glasses will fog up when you step outside. If it’s crazy windy, glasses can fly off and the character should hold onto them or take them off and put them somewhere safe. They’ll usually get dirty or break in a pants pocket, so maybe have character carry around a sturdy glasses case if needed.
- not all materials are good for wiping glasses off. Some shirt materials just make it worse.
- if your character’s glasses are super dirty or smudged, they will be able to see it 24/7 as they look around and it’s annoying af.
- although glasses can keep things from getting in a character’s eyes (like something that’s been sprayed), it doesn’t protect our eyes all the time, especially if it’s coming at an angle or there’s a large amount. For that, you’d need actual safety glasses or goggles (and yes, they do make prescription goggles, but they’re not cheap).
- speaking of waves, for the love of god, DO NOT have your character swim with their glasses on. At best, they’ll get wet and they won’t be able to see. At worst, if they’re forced underwater or an ocean wave smacks them in the face, they’ll fly off and/or break.
- a crack in glasses is actually annoying af and makes it very hard to see.
- if a character’s face is wet, like from sweat or a ton of rain, their glasses will continuously slide down their nose and they’ll need to keep pushing them back up.
- lots of liquids other than water will make glasses opaque.
- glasses should be fitted pretty well to a person’s head. So if the character’s face is dry or there’s a moderate amount of wind, the “legs” that go behind their ears should be tight enough that they don’t just constantly fly off or slip down their nose. If they do, they’re too big (but obviously something a tornado will make them fly off).
- although I hate the whole “they took off their glasses and now they’re a ✨ model ✨” trope, people do tend to look very different with glasses on vs off - especially a character like Harry Potter who constantly wears their glasses. It’s not unrealistic that people who don’t know the character well (or even those who do, but just aren’t as quick) won’t recognize them at first without their glasses.
- as far as I know (correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never been able to do this), if a lens pops out of the frames, it can’t be popped back in by non-professionals without the right tools. The glasses are just done for.
- if your character has contacts in (or this is a psa for anyone who wears contacts), DO NOT have them rub their eyes. The contact will pop out and they’re very translucent and tiny, so trust me, it will just fall and be lost forever.
- being able to see clearly out of one eye and not the other (like with a broken/missing lens or a contact falling out) causes headaches.
- glasses are expensive af in the US (idk about other places). One time when I didn’t have vision insurance, an eye exam and two frames with lenses (I have blue eyes and very extreme light sensitivity, so have to have prescription sun glasses as well as regular glasses) cost over $900USD. If you want the special frames that become tinted and basically turn into sunglasses when you walk outside, it will cost extra.
- speaking of those lenses that become tinted when you walk outside, they take awhile to fade back to normal after you go back inside. Your character needs to be prepared to still be “wearing” sunglasses for the first 5-10 minutes after they walk inside.
- if a character is wearing contacts, they can wear normal sunglasses. If not, they’ll need special prescription sunglasses to be able to see. You cannot wear prescription sunglasses with contacts in or you won’t be able to see anything. Ever tried to look through your friend’s glasses and everything’s weird and warped and giving you a headache? That’s what it will look like.
- not exactly glasses related, but people with lighter colored eyes will always have worse light sensitivity than people with darker eyes. I have very blue eyes and looking up at the sky on a sunny day will literally make me see stars, and especially if I’m driving towards the sun while it’s setting, I have to have my sunglasses on or I literally will not be able to see and tears will be leaking out my eyes the whole way home.
- speaking of prescription sunglasses, unless your character can see pretty far without their glasses or they’re far sighted, you cannot just take prescription sunglasses off and still be able to see, especially while driving. You just have to deal with it and keep the sunglasses on and look like a Matrix wannabe if it gets cloudy or starts raining, or you have to do the super speedy Dance of Death where you’re still watching the road in front of you, taking off one pair of glasses and putting the other on super fast (which usually requires you to use your mouth to open and close things).
- GLASSES ARE FRAGILE. Seriously, a very petite person could sit in them and snap them in half. They’re not something you want your character just throwing around.
- there are varying levels of how well someone can see. There’s farsightedness and nearsightedness. Some people don’t have that much trouble and can see pretty far, so only wear their glasses as needed. But some people (aka moi) can genuinely only see a few inches in front of their face. Like if I ever lost my glasses or they broke, I’d be done for. I wouldn’t be able to work or drive or do anything around the house.
- glasses need to be replaced about once a year because of possible prescription changes or sometimes lenses losing their strength and becoming harder to see through. Trying to tough it out after long enough will give your character headaches/migraines and sore eyes from eye strain.
- some mascaras (especially thick ones) will smudge glasses when the character blinks. Same with false lashes (although they’ll brush instead of smudge). Usually less intense mascaras and shorter fake lash lengths are better.
- eye makeup is harder to see with glasses on.
- please, please, PLEASE stop using the whole “omg look how much prettier/more attractive they are without their glasses” trope. Not everyone’s eyes can handle contacts and some people prefer wearing their glasses. And it makes those of us who prefer glasses or have to wear them feel like shit, especially because there aren’t a lot of characters with glasses in media who don’t become the butt of a joke (ie the one wearing glasses is the “ugly duckling” for it like in princess diaries, or like Velma from scooby doo always losing them and patting around, or people who wear glasses will always be some sort of dorky/insufferable know it all).
- glasses come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and can be used to actually enhance a character’s style! Some of them even have magnetic frames that click in place over the simple pair, so have fun using glasses to build your character’s style.
- edit to add: no one ever purposely falls asleep with their glasses on. You will crush and break them when you roll around. However, if a character does accidentally fall asleep with them on, a love interest gently taking them off so they don’t wake them up and setting them on the table next to them can be a super cute moment.
- whoops thought of some more. Hair products, especially hairspray, can be a bitch to get off glasses and doesn’t always just rinse off with water. If they’re spraying anything, including dry shampoo, the glasses have gotta come off and get out of the line of fire first.
- hair can and will get caught in the little hinge by the legs and we do occasionally not notice till we take our glasses off and rip a hair out of our heads.
- be careful when you comb or brush, cuz if the glasses legs get caught in the brush or comb, it will be ripped off our face.
Hope this helps! May the writing gods bless your work 🤓

Some kind of AU
Eddie tries not to slam his sweetheart into her case even though he’s pretty fucking pissed. He had just played a gig to what was supposed to be more than a couple of drunks because Brian had promised he was coming to his set tonight with a few friends. But his boyfriend had forgotten again.
The rest of the band gives Eddie his space, thank god, as he heaves an amp into Gareth’s truck and stalks off to his van - having done his part in packing up. He’ll make his round of apologizes later, but right now he wants to go to his apartment and sleep this night off.
Every traffic light in town seems to turn red as soon as he approaches it. He gets cut off by three people. And he swears the crack in his windshield is getting larger. And really this night can’t get worse.
He storms up the two flights of stairs to his apartment and sighs in relief when he gets outside of his door. He unlocks it quickly and goes inside, ready to get in bed as soon as possible.
Then, he hears it.
A moan.
Eddie rolls his eyes and huffs. Really not in the fucking mood to deal with Brian’s bullshit horny mood right now.
He stalks to the door and flings it open, ready to chew him out. But then he takes in what’s happening. Brian is on top of another man who is half naked in his own bed.
“So this is why you missed my set tonight, huh?” It’s the first thing that comes out of Eddie’s mouth.
Brian’s head snaps towards him, and he quickly climbs off the bed. “This isn’t what it seems, babe… and I thought you said your set would run late tonight.”
Eddie laughs humorlessly. He doesn’t know what else to do. He can’t process any of it. “And I thought you said you were coming tonight. Clearly, I mixed up your definition of the word.”
“Eddie…” Brian reaches out to grab his arm.
“Get out,” Eddie growls out.
Brian laughs. “You don’t mean that.”
Eddie has a good few inches over Brian that he uses to intimidate him, slowly whispering, “Get the fuck out.”
Brian stares at him for a moment in disbelief then quickly leaves the room, running towards the front door and slamming it shut.
Eddie sits on his chair and puts his head in his hands. It’s really been the worst night. There’s a huff of breath to his right.
Eddie head snaps up towards the stranger still in his bed. “What the fuck are you still doing here, man?”
The other man blushes and slowly lifts his left wrist which is handcuffed to the bed. The fucker used his handcuffs.
Eddie groans and opens his drawer to grab the key. He stares at the empty spot that the key usually occupies then he frantically digs around.
An unfamiliar voice says, “I don’t mean to make this worse for you, but I’m pretty sure he still has the key in his pocket.”
“Are you kidding me?” Eddie automatically replies.
“Man, I wish I was,” the stranger says, right hand rubbing sorely at his left wrist.
Eddie huffs, “They’re supposed to be for decoration only.” He stands up and makes his way to his tiny closet, digging out an extra wire hanger and beginning to bend it. He sits on his bed and goes through the tedious task of trying to pick the lock.
“You know how to pick a lock?” The man asks.
“No,” Eddie answers truthfully. “But I know how to hot wire a car.”
This gets the stranger to chuckle softly. Eddie looks up and really sees him for the first time. He has light brown eyes, long lashes, full lips, and really glorious hair. Eddie doesn’t know how Brian got him to go “home” with him.
“I’m Steve,” the stranger introduces himself, “Figured I should tell you my name if we’ll be here for a while.”
“I’m Eddie,” he replies. Although he’s sure Steve caught onto that before. He looks back at handcuffs, tongue resting on his top lip in concentration.
“I’m really sorry, man,” Steve rambles out. “I- I didn’t know that he was taken, you know. Especially with the way he approached me tonight all… Never mind. But really man. I had no idea. And I feel like absolute shit. I mean, the handcuffs weren’t even supposed to happen. He had gotten the key out and joked about it. But then they were suddenly on, and then you came in and… I’m so sorry.”
Eddie had stopped trying to pick the lock mid rant because Steve apparently has the habit of using his hands while he’s talking. Instead, he takes the time to look the guy in the eyes again, having the absurd thought that he wishes they had met in a different way.
Eddie shakes his head and continues picking the lock. “Thank you. I appreciate it,” Eddie says sincerely after a few moments.
The stranger runs his right hand through his hair and relaxes a bit more into Eddie’s bed. A minute goes by before Eddie notices that he’s shaking a bit. He sees the chills down his arms and quickly grabs at his blanket and pulls it around the man.
Steve takes it and whispers a quick thank you, pulling the blanket up his naked torso and around his neck. He stares off for a few moments and asks, “Is that a D&D dice set?”
Eddie’s head snaps up. He smiles widely. “You know what they are?”
“My friend, who’s kind of like a little, annoying brother, plays. I was actually thinking of buying him a new set for his birthday. Do you know where I could get them custom made? He’s been telling me about this new campaign…” Steve rambles on for a few minutes about all the things his friend - Dustin - has told him about. Steve seems terribly clueless about D&D, but it’s so obvious that he cares so much about this Dustin kid. And after a long night, this actually warms Eddie’s heart.
He continues listening to the campaign, impressed by whoever this Will kid is because he seems to have excellent dungeon master skills.
Eddie shares what type of design he thinks Dustin would like based on his character and offers to draw up a few concepts for Steve to use. Then, he rattles off a shop in town that he got his dice at which launches into Eddie explaining the reason for his set which was a gift from his uncle.
Eddie starts describing a few moments from his latest campaign and where he thinks it’s going, and he’s surprised when Steve gives him a few great ideas for the plot. As he’s going on about his most evil character created - Vecna - a clicking noise rings out.
Eddie stops mid rant, and both he and Steve look down at the cuffs. Steve slowly, almost reluctantly, pulls his wrist out and stares at the red ring around it.
Eddie grimaces and goes towards the kitchen, pulling an ice pack out of the freezer. When he comes back into the room, Steve is standing up, pulling a yellow sweater over his head.
It’s oddly endearing.
As Eddie gets closer he realizes they’re around the same height which is surprisingly comforting, being able to easily look him in the eyes.
Steve takes the ice pack and thanks Eddie again, pressing it into the slight bruise forming. He glances at the clock behind Eddie. “Shit, I have to get going or Robin’s going to kill me,” Steve says, stuffing his wallet that he left on the counter into his pocket.
Eddie’s heart drops at the mention of the name. He prays Steve isn’t like Brian, so Eddie can’t help but ask, “Robin?”
“My roommate,” Steve clarifies.
Eddie lightly sighs, oddly relieved that the stranger isn’t also cheating.
Steve stares at him for a few moments, eyes flickering between Eddie and the fridge strangely enough. He puts the ice pack on the counter and rushes behind Eddie, grabbing the dry erase marker and scribbling on the magnetic whiteboard.
Eddie stares in slight shock when Steve pulls away. “It’s my number,” Steve explains. “It’s just… I’ve also been cheated on, and it sucks. And if you needed to talk to someone about it… you can always talk to me.”
Eddie stares at Steve speechless.
“That’s weird, isn’t it?” Steve asks, eyebrows furrowed. He continues, “Yeah, that’s weird.” He doesn’t erase his number though.
He makes his way awkwardly to Eddie front door.
“Wait!” Eddie calls out, grabbing the ice pack and rushing towards Steve. He shoves it into his hand. “Take that with you, and give it back to me later. I have to draw that design for you, after all.”
Steve stares at Eddie for a moment then softly smiles. “Yeah, that’s right. You do.”
The two hesitate at the door for a few seconds, staring at each other. Steve shakes his head and opens the front door. “It was good meeting you, Eddie. I wish it could’ve been under better circumstances,” he says with a grimace.
“Yeah,” Eddie says laughing awkwardly. “Thank you for everything. I’ll call you.”
Steve smiles brightly and gently closes the door behind him.
Eddie huffs out a laugh and shakes his head. He glances at the fridge, takes in the number, and begins laughing again.
What a fucking night.

________
Shouting woke you up. Very loud, very upset shouting. You blinked, slowly turning your head and finding the world was upside down. There was something to your left, something bent and the smell of metal and blood in the air made your nose twinge.
Then you remembered you were in the car. Driving on the highway to the brewery to grab some pizza and a few beers to bring home for dinner. You turned and touched the metal panel, the front of the car or part of the roof was your guess, now smack dab in the center console and cutting you off from the other side.
“Jay,” you croaked out. The shouting stopped and you squeezed your eyes shut. “Jensen. I’m okay.”
“Y/N,” he said as you remembered him shoving a hand in front of your chest.
“Please tell me you’re in one piece,” you whispered.
“Yeah, I-I think so. Y-You?”
“I think so too,” you said, putting a hand on the roof below you, the windshield caved in, passenger door looking like a crumbled piece of paper. “Jay, I’m stuck in here.”
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I think it’s just bumps and bruises,” you said. “Can you move?”
“No,” he said quietly, not saying another word.
“Are you hurt?” He didn’t respond and you hit the panel between you. “Hey! Are you hurt?”
“I’m okay.”
“Dammit, tell me the truth.”
“My arm is cut up some but I’m okay. I can’t…fuck I can’t get out either.” He slapped the metal piece between you and you shushed him. “Y/N-“
“Relax honey. Sh, relax. I’m right here. I’m gonna be okay and you’re gonna…be okay…it’s going to be just fine. Just…just do your breathing that Ray showed you when you get anxious okay? It’ll…be okay,” you said, pressing your hand against your bleeding leg. “Shit.”
“You sound hurt,” he breathed out. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m uh, bleeding from my thigh. It’s not gushing so it couldn’t have been anything too bad, right?” you tried to joke, Jensen slamming against the panel again. “It’s not that deep. Also I’m pretty sure I have pizza in my hair.”
“What?”
“Yeah. I hope you like the smell of marinara cause that’s gonna take forever to wash out,” you said, trying to leverage yourself against the roof of the car. “Now’s as good a time as any to tell you this.”
“Tell me what?” he asked quietly. “Are you-”
“Led Zeppelin sucks and I cannot believe you have so many of their original records. Don’t even get me started on your infatuation with fucking country music. I hate country music and I think it’s time I put my foot down and ban it from the house. What do you say?” you said, squeezing your palm hard over your leg.
He let out a quiet huff of air that was akin to a dry laugh.
“I say you’re trying to distract me which either means you’re seriously fucked up over there and not telling me or you’re trying to keep me from having a panic attack by falsely insulting my music. So-”
“Hey, I do not like country as much as you and those are facts.”
“I know you don’t yet you listen to it for me,” he said, realizing for the first time it was still playing on the radio. “Imagine if you had to die listening to music you hated.”
“I’d live out of pure spite,” you said, Jensen chuckling a little. “I promise it’s the later. Trust me. If it were bad, I’d be asking you all sorts of shit about Dee so we can shit talk your music choices in the afterlife.”
He laughed for a split second, grunting loudly and making your heart race. “Yeah, you’re okay. Or not actively dying at least.”
“Not doing that. On the negative, everything hurts but positive side, I smell like pizza and beer, two of your favorite things.”
“Always got those silver linings,” he said as you heard sirens in the distance. “Y/N?”
“Yeah, honey?”
“You know how I said my arm was cut up?” he said, swallowing thickly. The pit in your stomach dropped, eyes closing.
“How bad is it?” you whispered.
“Bad enough I wrapped my belt around my arm to stop the bleeding.”
“Be honest. Please,” you said, wishing you could do something, anything. The silence was deafening, his labored inhale the only indication that he was still awake. “How bad?”
“There’s a piece of metal sticking out of my forearm. Pretty sure it sliced through the veins in there judging by the amount of blood.” You fought back tears, taking a shaky breath. “I’m really cold and tired. But I’m gonna stay awake-”
“Write me a song. Write me a fucking country song right now,” you said, forcing your eyes open. “What’s the melody?”
“Uh, what?” he asked. “Y/N, I’m-”
“I know what you’re saying and you can stay up until dawn even when you’re exhausted when you’re working on music so you write me a damn song right now and stay the fuck awake,” you croaked out.
“Well I need a banjo in there because I know that’s your favorite,” he teased, car doors slamming nearby.
“You’re a dickhead,” you said, Jensen chuckling. “Alright, banjo. What else?”
“Violin and a cello somehow. You fucking love the sound of-”
“Him first!” you shouted when you saw some boots in front of you, quickly watching them jog to his side of the car.
“Oh shit,” one of the responders said and with that, your heart truly sank, unsure if it would ever come back up.
They’d gotten Jensen out of the car first and carted off by the time you had a makeshift bandage around your thigh. Something felt off with your leg and several hours and a surgery later, your foot was in a cast. But when you woke up in post-op, Jensen wasn’t there, a nurse telling you he was still in the operation room.
So now all you could do was sit in a room in the ICU, staring out the glass door, praying you saw Jensen. It felt like the longest twenty three minutes of your life.
You shot straight up in bed when you saw a sleepy looking Jensen getting stopped in a bed outside your door.
“Whoa. I want to stay in the hot girl’s room,” he murmured, winking lazily at you. Yeah, he was definitely hopped up on something, his right arm wrapped and wrapped and wrapped in a thick mass of bandages.
“Let’s leave her alone,” said the nurse behind the bed, pushing him forward again, making him shout. She froze, Jensen staring in your room, shaking his head out.
“That’s my wife. I want to be with her.” The nurse sighed, Jensen’s face falling. “Please,” he whispered, voice cracking.
“You can see her in a minute, I promise,” she said, pushing him along. You waited exactly four minutes before slamming the nurse button over and over, one entering your room, giving you an annoyed glare.
“You should be sleeping,” she said. “You need to rest.”
“My husband is on the other side of this wall and last time I saw him he was bleeding out so I think a five minute field trip is more than fair-”
“He’s asleep like you should be.” You stared her down, the nurse eventually relenting. “Just stay there.” She left and returned after three minutes, shoving an ipad in your hand. “We used these during the pandemic. You can facetime him for a few minutes but then you both need sleep.”
She tapped a number and a split second later, Jensen’s beat up face appeared on screen.
“Well if ain’t the hot girl calling me from her bed,” he teased, the nurse rolling her eyes and leaving. “Are you alone?”
“Yeah. How are you?” you asked. He held up his injured arm and sighed. “You’re alive and that’s what matters.”
“I’m going to need physical therapy again. Months to recover and rebuild the muscle in my forearm. I already know it. You too with that foot of yours.” He rested his head against his pillow. “What about that cut on your leg?”
“Just gotta lay off it for a bit. It’s the same leg as my broken foot so that’ll be easy.” You both just stared at each other for a moment, a mess of bruises and small cuts littering your skin. “We’ll get through this.”
“I know.” He glanced down, closing his eyes. “I didn’t realize I was bleeding so bad until you made me calm down by insulting one of the best bands in history. You saved my neck.”
“That only happened because you put your arm in front of me. It could have been so much worse and-”
“Silly girl,” he murmured, slowly forcing his eyelids open, a softness to them you weren’t expecting. “I’ll always protect you. If you get a little less hurt because I did then that’s a win for me.”
Your bottom lip wobbled, Jensen shushing you. “Don’t say things like that, Jay.”
“Says the girl who stopped me from having a full on panic attack during arguably my worst nightmare. We protect each other, that’s how it works.” You smiled, Jensen returning it. “I’m taking you to a country music festival when we’re up for it in honor of saving me.”
“I want a divorce.”
He laughed so loud you heard it echo down the hall. He’d be okay again. You both would.
Eventually.

quinn knew it all, and had known about it since their first frat party they attended when she ended up drunk which resulted in an anxiety attack; during their freshman year at michigan. yet, he never let that get in the way of their budding friendship and hadn't let it over the past almost 7 years of knowing one another. the longest friendship, she'd had outside her other best friend sadie. he would pick up at every 3 am call she'd make to him, he would call her when the ghosting she did began or would figure out where she was when he'd come home during the summer & she wouldn't come to the lake house while not letting him know. or most importantly he wanted to say everything he felt too, when all the times he would catch her telling her true feelings for him, but then she would make a sarcastic and dark-humored joke about it, before changing the subject.
she was his best friend, throughout all of his shit too. she'd go above and beyond for him, and quinn felt less than at times about it. how much compensation she'd do for him when she was hurting and in need of a hug or a pep talk. when she needed warmth and safety. so when she proposed staying in detroit after four years at michigan, for a business degree, he jumped at the prospect. selfishly, at least a little part for quinn, was that he'd know that she was safe at all times- albeit his brothers, their shared groups of friends from michigan, or his parents. to which she'd made a joke of it, "how do its feel to be behind mama hughes on my emergency contact list?"
Oh, you're spiralin' again The moment right before it ends, you're most afraid of But, don't you cancel any plans 'Cause I won't let you get the chance to never make them
it was a rainy, torrential downpour, july friday evening in the detroit - ann arbor area. it was around 9 pm when she'd just gotten out work due to a project that blew up in her and her colleague's faces- so the five of them were stuck there until it was done. she knew that this was her breaking point, and it seemed like once a quarter she'd simply lose it. start ghosting everybody she loved, canceling plans or not even bothering to show up to them without a word. so now here she was, sitting in her townhouse garage and sobbing. she'd been denying each and every call that quinn had been making, the duration of the drive home. she'd promised to call him after she got out to discuss her flight in the morning, to toronto where he was with his brothers and a few friends and girlfriends. she couldn't pull herself to bring herself inside after shutting her car off. she couldn't pull herself together to shower, to eat or to even finish packing for her flight. she couldn't even pull herself to wipe her cheeks that were molten red and drenched with salty tears.
all the way in toronto, quinn was panicking. freaking out outside of the restaurant they were all at. why wasn't she picking up? his mind ran with soulless ideas and thoughts, one's that made him think the worst and on the verge of throwing up. after the 20th call (i know) he called his mom, who said she hadn't heard from her since the previous sunday when they went to brunch, despite her telling his mom that she'd text her something that week. and then once ellen had said that it had been pouring the whole day and hadn't let up, his anxiety surged. what if she slid into a ditch? what if she skidded into another car? lost her vision through the windshield? a million thoughts echoed throughout his mind, as he tried to calm himself down. "if you cannot get ahold of her before 12, i will go over there to make sure she is ok." ellen offered, and that made quinn breathe a bit. that was the first thing he thought of when she said she'd be staying in detroit, that his mom would be nearby at all times. as selfishly as that was, quinn thought.
Don't let this darkness fool you All lights turned off can be turned on I'll drive, I'll drive all night I'll call your mom
she pushed her garage door open into the mud room, sliding her purse and shoes off. she slowly made her way towards the kitchen, grabbing the water canister from the fridge and pouring herself a tall glass. her phone continued to buzz with messages from quinn, and now luke and jack, who were overly concerned for the one person they saw as an older sister. she peered down at it, and saw a text from quinn stating: please text, call, anything please. im gonna drive home tonight - rn. she sighed, pulling her phone into her hands and typing, "don't." and quinn pressed his head down on the restaurant table, he had just sat back down at. she pressed the button to call him and he picked up on the second ring, "don't do that quinn, im fine." she lied through gritted teeth. he shook his head, heading back outside. "sunny...please." he begged, as his voice broke. a thick crack with emotion bubbling underneath. "i promise, im ok." she lied again, and now her body was betraying her. "sunny?" he asked softly, and then he heard her sobs. "sunny?" he questioned again, as her sobs got heavier. "im sorry. im sorry quinine.....god, i wish-" she paused as she realized what she was gonna say, something she'd wanted to say for years when he'd be there to comfort her. "i wish i'd never met you quinnie, you have never deserved any of this and do not deserve it." she sobbed, breaking quinn's heart in the process. "no! you don't get to say that, or believe that. because i sure as hell don't." he argued and she shook her head. "no, you don't deserve a friend that doesn't see the good in the world. who doesn't look towards tomorrow with a mindset of, that things are gonna be better. tomorrow's a new day. you don't deserve that, your family, my family- nobody deserves it." she croaked, wiping her tears roughly off of her cheeks.
quinn's heart broke, "i promise sunny- this time its gonna be different. we will get you better help, ill take you wherever we need to go to get you the help you need. were not giving up, ok? im not nor ever going to give up. you're my best friend sunny, we will work through this. there's so much good about you and the way you treat everybody around you. everything is gonna be ok sunny, ok?" he pleaded, and she heard her sniffles. "i promise that everything will be made new, sunny. let me - let me drive home right now, ill call your mom- ill call my mom, everything will be ok!" he said more so to trick himself into thinking it, but he was terrified. she shook her head, "no its quinnie, im just gonna go to sleep." she said before hanging up.
Waiting room, no place to stand His greatest fears and wringing hands and the loudest silence If you could see yourself like this If you could see yourself like this, you'd have never tried it
as quinn was just getting his bags together from the hotel room, and waiting on the delivery of a rental car - he got the call from his mom. he was with his brothers when he got it. he called her after sunny had hung up, asking her to go be with her until he could get there. about 2 hours later because of flooding and how bad the vision was that evening, ellen had made it to her townhouse right outside of detroit. and the moment she got off the phone with 911, she called quinn. whose world was rightfully, broken in half.
_
quinn stood in the waiting room after driving back with his brothers, and so the three of them stood there silently. ellen was the only one with sunny at that moment, now - 6 am. ellen had been with sunny since 1 am, that morning after her and jim drove to check on her. jack called sunny's mom, who lived in Indianapolis with her step father, who instantly got in the car and drove up to detroit. who were nearing their arrival any minute. all three of the boy's minds ran wild with thoughts and feelings, but quinns. his were lethal at this point, and filled with guilt, more than anything. quinn's head whipped up when he saw jim walking from the elevator and nodded towards quinn, and then his two other sons. "come with me." jim said before he took them with him upstairs. she'd been taken to the psych floor after she had arrived.
"she is ok quinn." jim said placing a hand on his shoulder to try to comfort him. quinn nodded softly, the look on his face of somebody who was mentally gone. jim and the three boys, stepped out and towards her room. ellen turned her head when the door opened, "your dad and i are gonna head downstairs to wait for her parents, we will be downstairs." ellen said standing up and quinn nodded, "we'll go with you." jack said referring to him and luke, who nodded as well. "let us know if you need anything q." ellen said comfortingly and he nodded, still looking towards sunny. the family walked out, leaving quinn who sat down next to the girl. she was sleeping peacefully and soundly, not flinching or stirring the dark haired girl after he grabbed her hands softly. his hands eclipsed hers, as he did so. he brought their hands to his lips, as he sat forward with his elbows on knees. "fucking a sunny." he mumbled to himself, "i thought i'd lost you for good this time." he added as silent tears poured out thinking about the last time, this almost happened.
_
Stayed on the line with you the entire night 'Til you told me that you had to go
_
"i dont want to do it anymore quinnie." she sobbed. her final semester of senior year was getting to her, and she was stressed beyond the max with work, her internship and life in general. and what made it harder, was that quinn was in vancouver while she was in ann arbor.
"what can i do for you, sunny? please tell me what i can do."
"you can't do anything q, there's nothing stopping me or in my way anymore." she cried.
quinn shook his head, "dont say that. you know that isn't true. you've got your mom, sister, brother, sadie, my family and, and me. and you're whole future ahead of you." he said through a scratchy voice.
"sunny, please stay on the line with me until you fall asleep. i don't care how late it is." he said - no pleaded.
"i gotta go quinnie. ill call you tomorrow morning." she said before hanging up, before heading over to the hughes' residence.
Oh, dear, don't be discouraged I've been exactly where you are
sure, quinn could not totally relate to sunny. but he had had his moments. when his first season ended, the off season between the 2022-2023 season and 2023-2024. where the team had been god awful. he'd had moments of unclarity, throughout their friendship. but certainly, never on the level of her's. but there were moments where the two could bond on a different level, and where the two could feel exactly how the other felt.
he'd come out on the other side every single time, and did not let it discourage him. he knew it was a part of life, and the career that he chose. he hoped at some point, before it was too late, that she'd come out on top on the other side.
that she'd finally be able to get some peace in life.
she woke up around 7:30 am, with her parents in the hallway with ellen and jim, talking quietly over everything. quinn sat next to her, while his brothers went to go get coffee and small breakfast items for everybody. when the girl awoke, she did not expect to be there in the hospital. she didn't expect to see quinn beside her, looking past her out the window. she didn't expect to be alive, to be quite honest. she shifted a little bit as tears formed in her eyes, as she felt guilt wash over her. and a bit of frustration, that it hadn't worked.
"sunny.." quinn began trailing off, as he felt her hand pull from his and saw her shift in the bed. she looked at him with the biggest puppy eyes he'd ever seen, and then her lips began to quiver. he quickly hopped into the hospital bed, pulling her into him as she began to sob. her throat dry and scratchy as she began to speak, "why?" she begged. "why me?" she added, as quinn kissed her head. "why am i so broken?" she sobbed into the warmth of his chest, as he began to cry with her. "i don't deserve you quinnie, i don't. i never have and never will." she croaked, and he frowned. he pulled back a bit and brought his hands to her cheeks, to make her look at him. he shook his head, "i don't deserve you my sunny." he began, before swallowing. "from the moment i met you, in that god awful english course, you showed me that a person can be relentlessly kind, incredibly unselfish, and even if you don't realize it - you find the good in everything and everyone." he paused, "and now you need to find that goodness in yourself. because it is there." he finished, his brown eyes pouring into hers.
both of their eyes filled with tears, and their bodies full of nerves.
she nodded softly, "and if you couldn't tell through that thick skull of yours- that's my way of telling you i love you." he quickly diffused the situation, "and how much love i have for you." he added quickly. she smiled softly, "i love you too, quinnie. thankyou for pointing out my thick skull." she hummed, before leaning into his left hand.
Throw a punch, fall in love, give yourself a reason Don't wanna drive another mile wonderin' if you're breathin' So, won't you stay, won't you stay, won't you stay with me?
it was now early august, and between therapy and time away from work- the girl was finally beginning to understand what quinn had meant when the two spoke that early morning at the hospital. he'd been there every day with her since then, making sure she got the appropriate help alongside her mom. he'd made sure he kept her schedule in order, making sure she went to her in-person therapy sessions, made sure that she was eating enough, drinking enough water, and made sure to take her mind off of it all. this was one of their final full weeks together, and quinn wanted to make the most of it.
he drove the two from ann arbor down to new buffalo michigan, on lake michigan about two in a half hours outside of chicago. he rented the two a small beach house on a private beach for the getaway. this morning the girl rose around 5:04 am, right before sunrise. she quickly got out of the shared bed (which wasn't a shared bed in the beginning, but after a night staying up to talk it naturally became one.) and headed out towards the beach that was a foot off of the back deck. she made her way down the beach, after slipping on a one piece and submerged herself quickly into the lukewarm water.
she dunked herself underneath the water, before swimming back to the surface. she hadn't realized that quinn had followed her out, after feeling the bed shift and then a cold spot in her wake. she turned behind her after quinn had snapped a pic, and she smiled. "morning q." she smiled, now swimming on her back. he smiled, sitting down on the deck and putting his legs in the water.
"will I be subject to a pep talk today?" she teased with a grin, as quinn chuckled. he shrugged, "maybe." he mused. "let me guess its gonna include punching somebody, giving myself a reason to do things and possible falling in love? two topics of which haven't been talked about?" she quipped, pulling herself up the deck to sit next to him on it. she leaned her head that was soaked on his shoulder, and he smiled softly resting his on hers.
"why dont you come back to vancouver with me?" he questioned out loudly, a few minutes later. she felt her breathe hitch in her throat, before removing her head from his. "you don't have to say yes right now but...i don't know if i can go without seeing you. i don't think i can handle you ghosting me and shutting the world out. after that night, i don't want to wake up and fear that you arent breathing anymore. but ofcourse, if you won't come with me- ill stay here. ill take some time off, and we can work on things." he offered and she shook her head. "you you cant do that for me." she pleaded and he now shook his head, "id do anything for you sunny, don't you understand that?" he paused to gauge her reaction, "id do everything in my power and simply - my existence for you. you have been such a light in my life despite everything, since the moment you walked into it. and i frankly, am never letting you walk out of it." he said as she began to feel overwhelmed. she'd never thought about how quinn felt about her, through everything. especially through the short term girlfriend he'd had and the talking stages that went nowhere with girls.
"dont say what it is i think you're going to say." she begged, as she began to cry. more so, happy tears. he wiped them quickly, looking into her eyes. "i love you, and have always loved you. even from the sidelines and through my own shit i have loved you from that first damn and god-awful frat party, and from the moment you said hi." he said rubbing his thumbs across her cheeks. she clasped her eyes shut and shook her head, "look at me pretty girl." he whispered and she reopened them. "back in the hospital room, you said it then, why did you try to run it back? why did you try to neutralize it?" she questioned, "because you didn't deserve it in that moment. you deserved better." he answered. she nodded, "i would have said it back quinnie. i would have said it if you hadn't shut up." she said with a small grin. his head cocked to the side just a bit. "i love you quinn, and i have always. i've loved you through everything. your dedication to never giving up on me, has shown me some of the greatest love in life. and in turn, has made me fall so deeply in love with you." she confessed and quinn smiled. he smiled widely before leaning in slowly, but it was too slow for the girl. she connected the two's lips and melted into his body.
she pulled away, "oh and before we move on for the day, id love to come to come to van with you. i miss brock." she teased before he pulled the girl up and towards the lake house.

So you know when you wear shorts in summer in a car with a leather seat that your legs stick to it sometimes? I've actually almost fallen out of car bc of that. And because of this experience, may I request this happening to the reader with any autobot of your choice?
THROUGH the glaze of the windshield, traffic churns at a slow, steady pace. Pistons chuff, creak and groan; beaten down by the glare of the sun, little by little the mottled blurs of car start to file out.
Everytime, you think you're going to wrangle out of this hellhole — a wide gap-like opening, blaring out like the heavens for freedom — you find yourself stuck in another junction, relapsing in the same fucking problem.
Stuck in the same place. Between mesh metal of blistering, practically burning from the sun, hot cars.It also doesn't help how raw to the bone hot the weather is.
Heat is seething through the Aircon. You're practically drenched, and the discomfort of having an already wet shirt matted to your wet spine is exacerbated by the goddamn ire before your eyes.
There's a truck, in front of you.
A very old truck.
And, fast?
Not it's greatest virtue.
A lump of irritation bites its way through your teeth. The backside of the truck sputters with black fumes. You're about to relinquish the title of an honorable citizen, when the radio warbles with a staticky breedle.
"You're getting sweat all over the seats, pipsqueak." Comes his sardonic chuff. The insignia lits up with every sass induced spool of his words.
At that you lift up your thighs, a kind of schlap followed after as a result of very sweaty skin latching on leather.
"Suck it cop-bot," You pat the steering wheel. "That's what you get for having shitty air conditioning."
A growl revved up from the engine. The wheel whirls away from your touch three-sixty at max speed.
"You can't expect me to accept the blame, can I? When all there is out there under that— that blisteringly — whatever you call that slag of a weather, is hot fraggin' air."
You blink at the sudden venom in his tone. Prowl's usually, eh usually, the type to keep it down when he's about to lose it : a scowl and a sharp tongue is good enough for lacerating the source of his ire.
For him to snap? Yikes. That takes a lot. A hefty lot. Even with Smokescreen, concierge of shenanigans — worst he's got is a swift chuck to the brig and cleaning duty for a year. And, that's just with a scowl and a low, steady tone.
Guess Cybertronians aren't immune to hot days, either huh. Sun's that bad.
"Is it getting to you too, Prowler?"
"What do you think?" He bites back. "Look at the thermometer. It's exceeding above the usual range of what a normal temperature should be. It's draining up the power in my cooling fans which drains up my fuel, which drains up energon. Which, at this moment, is scarce."
"Hard times, Prowler." You shake your head solemnly. "Hard times."
"You don't get a say in this." He grits out.
The car leers forward with a sudden jerk and your forehead kisses the steering wheel. Not the flat surface where the insignia lies but the edge. You know, the round handle? Bubbles of pain shoot out from the spot and you groan.
"What?" You whined. "It's already hot enough with my ass sticking to your seat — you can't leave me with any more bruises worse than this, alright?"
"Then keep that mouth shut. Or I'm shutting it off for you."
" We're stuck in traffic, though." You grope the steering wheel, grinning at the irritated growl of an engine when he tries to steer it away.
"Will you cut it."
"Hunkering down on a quick brawl in the street doesn't really contribute to the whole," You waggle your hands. " bots in disguise, kind of thing. Not really your style. Doesn't fit you, prowler. Doesn't seem to fit the muse of a..." You trail off, playful and purposeful with your tone. "...law enforcer."
He's quiet for a moment.
"Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah?"
"Uh huh."
He laughs : a quick sarcastic 'hah' and a chuff.
"Get out."
Yep. There, it is.
"Duly noted."
Your fingers wrangle the door knob. And, as soon as you struggle to pry it open you realize Prowl is keeping it locked.
"Where'd the angry coppa go?" You huffed.
"Oh, you'll see."
"Open the—huh?"
Your fingers grasps the open air, twitching around nothingness. The momentum propels you to slide off your sweat-lathered seat, lurching forward and face first into the hot, concrete road.

Your fingers held tightly to the bags in your hands. Your feet light as a ballerina's as you skip to your car. It had been a successful day of shopping—new clothes, some treats for your friends, and a few small gifts for your husband, Elvis.
The scent of fresh leather and perfume still seemed to hang in the air around you as you pulled out of the parking lot. Your fingers traced the smooth surface of a new silver bracelet on your wrist, and you smiled at the thought of showing everything you got to Elvis. You imagined his face full of gratitude and happiness when you gave him the new watch and rings you got him.
The anticipation of returning home and showing off your finds made you press the gas pedal the tiniest bit harder. Elvis' delight in seeing you model your new outfits never wavered, even after how long you'd been together. You could already hear him excitedly telling you that he had the perfect shirt or jacket to match a dress you bought or that he had a tie that would go with the color of a blouse you got. It warmed your heart to see him so happy over matching with you—something others wouldn't understand. Something only the two of you would share.
As you came to a stop at a red light, you happened to glance in your rearview mirror. Your brows came together, and it took you a moment to make sure you weren't seeing things.
There was a car that looked alarmingly familiar—a shade of red with a crack in the windshield. You swore that it was the same vehicle that was parked a few spaces from you at the mall.
You tried to shake off the feeling of unease that was creeping up inside you. It's not like you didn't see a million cars that looked alike every day. This had to just be a coincidence, you told yourself, but as the traffic light turned green, the car still trailed behind you. It crept closer to your bumper, and you could see the occupants. A man sat in the driver's seat, and a woman accompanied him in the passenger side.
Your eyes locked with the man’s, and you shuddered with a wave of cold fear. You pressed harder on the gas, wanting to get away from the whole situation. The possibility of this being a coincidence seemed more and more unlikely as the car looked to be following your every move. You made a few turns, hoping to lose them, but he stayed right on your tail.
Your mind raced with thoughts about why these people were following you. In all your years with Elvis, you never had a crazy fan interaction. Elvis had told you stories of encounters he had that left him uneasy, but the worst you had was some staring when someone recognized you. Which, thankfully, didn't happen often. Most of the time, it was just young girls who knew you were Elvis' wife. But was this something you needed to be concerned about?
Your heart was pounding in your chest, but you attempted to keep composure. You didn't need to lose your cool on the highway, and surely these people weren't bold enough to follow you all the way home.
You hoped.
As you turned onto your street, the car continued to follow you, and some of your anxiety gave way to annoyance. You loved that so many people adored your husband because he was able to bring so much delight to his fans, and he got so much joy from it as well. But some people took their admiration too far.
The driveway of the home you shared with Elvis was coming up, and the vehicle was still on you. You had to think of something.
You pulled into the drive and parked the car. When you saw that they had actually followed you into the driveway, you were shocked. The nerve of some people would never fail to amaze you. You waited a moment to see if they would get out, but they simply sat in their car, staring into the back glass of yours. You could feel their eyes on you, even from a distance.
You decided to take matters into your own hands. Even though you were filled with apprehension, you got out of your car and walked up to theirs, your hands clenched tightly to keep them from shaking. As you approached, the driver rolled down his window.
"Can I help you?" You asked, trying to sound confident.
The man looked you up and down before speaking. "What?"
You could feel your annoyance spike. These people had followed you all the way home, and now they wanted to act like they didn't know what was going on.
You tried to keep your voice steady as you spoke. "I asked if I could help you because you've been following me for miles now."
The man looked at you with a blank expression, and the woman stayed silent. After a second, the man gave you a sly grin, and you could see a hint of malice in his eyes. "We just wanted to say hello to the Queen."
Your stomach churned, and a wave of disgust swept through you at his words. What was phrased as a compliment was made to sound like a threat, and you were feeling extremely unsafe now. You knew that Elvis had a lot of fans, but something about the way the man spoke and the look in his eyes made you uneasy. You took a step back, inching closer to your car.
You tried your hardest to put on a smile and not show your fear. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I have to get inside now."
As you turned back to your car, ready to get away from this strange encounter, the woman yelled from her seat. "Look, we're just big fans of Elvis, and we saw you at the mall, and we wanted to follow you home to maybe meet him." You glanced back at her. She wore a small smile meant to seem friendly, but you weren't convinced. "We're sorry if we scared you."
Knowing your husband better than he knew himself, you were fully aware that if you went up to the house and told him there were fans at the gate that wanted to meet him, he'd come down here and give them his undivided attention. That was just the type of person he was. Elvis was thoughtful, and oh so kind. But you didn't want these people around any longer than they had to be. You got an off feeling from them, and if your mother taught you anything, it was to trust your gut.
You took a deep breath and tried to calm your nerves. Not knowing how they would react once you turned them away made you not want to speak at all. "I'm sorry, but I don't think that'll be possible. I'm not sure if Elvis is even home yet. He's a very busy man, as I'm sure you can gather." You waited with baited breath as the couple took in your rejection.
The woman's expression soured. "We just wanted to say hello," she said, her voice growing increasingly bitter. "What's the harm in that?”
You could feel their eyes boring into you, and you knew you needed to end this conversation before things escalated. "I'm sorry.” You repeated, backing up a few inches. "But it's just not possible right now." The woman huffed, and the man glared at you. You apologized one more time before turning your back to leave.
Just as your hand was about to close around the car door handle, you heard rushed footsteps coming up behind you. You had just enough time to whip your head around before your back was pressed against the front gate.
The woman had gotten out and was now gripping the front of your shirt as she held you in place. "You think you're so special, don't you?" She hissed, her eyes filled with jealous rage. "Just because you have a ring on your finger doesn't mean you own Elvis."
"Let me go!" You shouted, struggling to free yourself, but that just seemed to aggravate her further. She jerked you forward, and your head slammed into the metal gate from the momentum. Your head throbbed from the impact, and you cried out as you felt the warm trickle of blood run down the back of your neck.
As you attempted to regain your composure, the man slowly got out of the car. His dark look was gone now, replaced with something akin to boredom. "Come on, baby." He said, his voice smooth and coaxing. "Let's just go. This isn't worth it."
But she wasn't listening. Her eyes stayed locked with yours, and you could see so much hatred in them.
You were acutely aware of how vulnerable you were. You were alone, with no one to help you. Your heart was beating so hard it felt like it was about to burst out of your chest as you tried to shake off the woman's grip. You had to do something. You couldn't stay there and let them hurt you.
"I don't want any trouble," you said, your voice embarrassingly shaking. "Just leave me alone."
The woman rolled her eyes, and before you knew it, you were hissing in pain as your hands scraped on the rough concrete of the driveway. "Fine, we'll leave you alone. But I'm gonna teach a spoiled bitch a lesson first."
Her hands seized your hair and yanked you up. A hiss left your lips as a blazing fire shot through your skull. Before you could think of a way to fight back, she had shoved you face first into the gate, which rattled from the collision. Your cheek bounced off it, and she laughed. "Oh, that bruise is gonna look good," she sneered.
You could hear the man behind you sigh. "Come on, baby," he said again. "We need to go."
"No!" She shouted. "This stuck-up little bitch needs to know she's not queen almighty."
As you jerked in her grasp, you could feel the woman's nails digging into your scalp. You knew that you couldn't just take the abuse. You just didn't know what to do. But like a godsend, you happened to glance to your right. The intercom to the house was inches from you. You wouldn't even need to get free from your attacker; just somehow get your arm up a bit to press the button and call for help.
Her partner was still trying to convince her to leave, so she was distracted. You slowly began to raise your arm up, inch by inch. You shook with adrenaline, but at last your finger crushed the call button down.
"Help me! Someone! I need help!"
The woman let out a squeal of aggravation, and finally her grip on your hair faltered. You took the opportunity to try to push her off you.
She went to grab at you again, but voices from up the drive sounded out. You could pick out Elvis' voice in the pack, and that alone made you sigh with relief.
"Fuck this." You heard the man say. "Enough is enough. I'm leaving with or without you." He ran off to the car. It started up but didn't leave. "Come on!" He yelled.
The woman wouldn't move, though, even as Elvis and the guys got closer. She just lunged at you again.
"Hey, what the hell is going on here?" You see Elvis running towards you, his eyes filled with concern and anger.
The woman stepped back, suddenly realizing how dire the circumstances had turned for her now.
"Y/N." Elvis called. You turned to follow his voice and were dazed by the sheer comfort his presence brought.
He whipped open the gate and was by your side instantly. He took your face in his hands, his thumbs going over the bruise forming on your cheek. Tears filled your eyes as everything that occurred crashed down on you. "Are you okay, baby?" Elvis asked, his voice gentle as he wrapped you tightly in his arms, pulling you into his chest. His scent flooded your nose—aromatic wood smoke and spicy cologne. It comforted you as nothing else could.
You felt a sob rise in your throat, but you swallowed it down. Elvis heard your sniffles and lifted your head."What happened?" He demanded, looking between you and the couple.
The man was still near the car, with Jerry and some of the other guys standing around him. The woman stood a few feet away from you with a dumbfounded look on her face.
"She attacked me when I wouldn't let her in the gate." You answered, your teary eyes meeting his.
The woman seemed to snap out of it. "You little bitch!" She screamed. "I'm gonna-"
"Alright, stop," Elvis interrupted. He stared at the woman in disbelief. "Stay here, darlin’.” He told you as he strode over to the woman.
The sound of his voice was too faint to be heard from where you stood. but the way he threw his arms around wildly made it clear he was not being nice. He thrust his finger in her face and pointed back towards the gate. His face was hard and his arms tense; a look of rage emanated from him.
You watched as Elvis set his attention on the man. They exchanged words before Elvis spat out something and pointed towards the car. The couple got in without further delay.
You looked away from the retreating vehicle and locked eyes with Elvis. You could see the rage still boiling within him as he marched over to you. You knew he was trying his best to keep himself from losing his temper entirely, so you reached out your hands for him. He took them without hesitation, gripping them tightly as he pulled you into an embrace once more.
Your face fell into his chest, pressing your cheek against his shirt. "Oh, darlin'." He whispered, his voice filled with worry. "We need to get you inside." He ran his hands through your hair to inspect some of the damage.
You nodded, not trusting your voice, and let him lead you towards the house. You clung to him like a lifeline, soothed by his warmth and the way his arms felt around you.
As you walked, you couldn't help but feel a little foolish for letting yourself get into that situation in the first place. But you knew it wasn't entirely your fault. Elvis' fame brought unwanted attention, and sometimes it spilled over onto those closest to him.
Once inside, Elvis led you to the couch in the living room and sat you down gently. “Let’s see here,” he said, his voice soft as he swiped his thumb across your bruised cheek. His eyes carefully roamed over your face, taking in the swelling of your cheek before turning your hands over and inspecting the gashes on your palms.
"You hurt anywhere else, honey?" He hesitated as if afraid of the answer.
You nodded. "I'm pretty sure the back of my head is cut." You answered, pointing to the base of your skull.
He sighs before standing and moving to take a look. Elvis was gentle as he parted your hair and examined the laceration, his fingers lightly brushing over the wound. "Oh, baby." He murmurs before kissing the crown of your head. You close your eyes, savoring the sensation of his lips against your hair.
"We need to go to the hospital." He said firmly as his brows furrowed.
He was already moving away from you when you reached out and grabbed his arm, stopping him mid-motion. “No, please.” You said, your voice quieter than normal. You didn't want to cause an even bigger fuss, so you shook your head and tried to stand up. “I just want to be here with you.”
Elvis looked at you for a long moment, his eyes softening as he caught onto your sentiment. "Alright, let's clean these wounds up then." He said finally, gesturing for you to come with him to the bathroom.
He helped you sit on the edge of the tub before going off in search of supplies—bandages, antiseptic, and some ice—he thought would help with the swelling of your cheekbone. Once fully prepared, he knelt down beside you and began tending to you.
He worked quickly while still being careful with you, not wanting to cause any more unnecessary pain. His touch was gentle as he swabbed away the dirt from the cuts on your palms. He wiped them down with antiseptic, only pausing when you winced or tensed from the sting. Each time, he'd look at you apologetically before rubbing soothing circles on your knee and continuing his work. You watched him work in silence, marveling at how attentive he was.
"There," he whispered softly. It was clear he wanted to make sure that you were alright, though there wasn't much more he could do for now other than offer you comfort.
You give him a light smile before leaning forward to wrap your arms around him in a hug, burying your face into the crook of his neck. You sighed contentedly as Elvis' lip made a path across the side of your face up to the shell of your ear. His lips were like ballet on your skin as they moved across it, making it seem like everything was alright again.
"Thank you." You mumbled into his skin.
He chuckled breathlessly. "Anything for my girl."
The next few hours passed by uneventfully. The time was filled by pretending nothing happened by lounging on the couch with Elvis while the television played and showing him what you got from the mall. There was something that lingered in the air, though. Something that wasn't spoken but felt just as strongly.
Elvis was off, and you only had an idea as to what the matter was. You knew it had to do with the incident with the couple. You couldn't tell what he was thinking, though. You just watched as all the troubling emotions passed over his face for the rest of the day. You wished you could take it all away, but you knew that wasn't possible. All you could do was be there for him, and that's what you intended to do.
As the sun set below the horizon, Elvis got up from his spot on the couch and stretched his arms. "We should get you to bed." He said, looking down at you.
You nodded, smiling up at him. "Yes, please; I'm exhausted."
He didn't chuckle at your eagerness like he normally would. And while you both readied for bed, he was distant. There was none of his usual playfulness. No flicking water at you while you brushed your teeth. No cheekily swatting at your butt as you walked past him in your little nightgown. You could've written it off as him not wanting to be too rough with you after the ordeal, but that didn't seem right.
The bed dipped as you two settled into the blankets. On a typical night, Elvis would instantly pull you into him, his arms coming around you to hold you as you fell to sleep. Tonight, he only stared blankly at the ceiling.
“E.” You whispered quietly, your hand coming to rest on his chest. “What's wrong, baby? You've seemed down all evening.”
Elvis turned to face you, and you definitely noticed how he flinched slightly when his eyes flickered to the bruise on your cheek. “It's my fault,” He said boldly, his voice filled with remorse and sadness. You felt your heart constrict at his confession.
You looked at him, confused. "How is it your fault, baby?"
"I wasn't able to protect you." His voice was low as he fiddled with the ends of your hair. He couldn't make himself meet your gaze.
You reached down and took his hand, intertwining your fingers with his. "You did protect me, Elvis. You were there for me."
He finally looked up at you, his eyes filled with grief. "But I couldn't stop it from happening in the first place."
You squeezed his hand. “It's not your fault.” You insisted firmly.
Elvis nodded slowly, his hand still in yours. "I just can't bear the thought of anything happening to you."
You scooted in closer to him, resting your head on his chest. "I know," you whispered. "But I'm okay now."
Elvis wrapped his arm around you and held you close, his lips pressing gently against your forehead.
You could feel his heart beating in his chest, and it was as if it was in sync with yours. The two of you lay there in silence for a few moments before you felt Elvis stir beneath you. He shifted, moving so that he was hovering above you.
"I need you to know how much I love you." He spoke with an intensity you've only heard from him a few times.
Your heart swelled at his words. "I love you too, E," you replied.
Elvis kissed you, his lips moving slowly over yours. The gentleness of his mouth was like a butterfly's wings as it flitted through the air. You knew he was trying to convey all of his emotions through the way his lips moved against yours. He gave you one last peck before pulling back to look at you. "I don't ever wanna let you go." He said, his eyes piercing into yours.
You reached up to cup his cheek, your thumb rubbing circles on his skin. "You'll never have to." You promised, your voice unwavering.
In that moment, as you drifted off to sleep in each other's arms, you knew no matter what happened, Elvis would always be there to catch you when you stumbled. And in return, you'd always be there to pick him back up when he fell.

Stop the World and Melt with You//Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
✨One minute, you're bawling your eyes out in 2023, and the next thing you know--you're at a gas station with guy named Eddie, in a town that feels stuck in the 80's. The thought of traveling back in time hasn't occurred to you yet; maybe because it's way more than that.
Series Masterlist
✨Based in an alternative universe, I think the only triggers are that reader is terribly sad in the beginning and is having a hard time remembering things. Slow build. Mention of dad passing away. Word count: 2.9k
A/N: I'm not sure if I will turn this into a series, or if it will stay as a little weird piece floating in the ether 💕 (update: link to part 2 above)
----------
So, there you are, crying in your truck. Not that pretty kind of sniffling where a single tear runs down your cheek and your eyes glisten, but massive, snotty, choking sobs. Gasping, wailing, shoulders bouncing, wringing your hands on the steering wheel. You were crying so hard, you missed your exit. At least, you must have, because the exit numbers jumped from 12 to 14 in the time it took for you to wipe your eyes, mascara stinging, your throat raw. The song playing is full of hopeful love (Melt with You by Modern English) and you scream at the radio like a banshee, scrambling to turn it off.
You slow down and get over to the furthest lane, hands at 10 and 2, eyes squinting, ready to take that exit 15 to Empress Landing Road that your GPS keeps squawking about. The rain is coming down in sheets now, mirroring the tears that have run down your neck and soaked the collar of your gray sweatshirt. You approach the bend and take the exit, winding your way around to a two-way stop sign, and that’s when you lose all of the bars on your phone and a flat message cross the screen says: NO SIGNAL.
“What the hell,” you mutter to yourself, making sure no one is behind you before you reach over to grab your phone and bring it to your face for a closer look. No cell service and no wifi; perfect. Just what you were hoping for on this day of our lord, the worst day of your life. Not the actual worst, but close: when you lost your dad six months ago to cancer, that was the worst. It would all be a walk in the park from there for the rest of your life as far as bad days went.
You keep waiting for your phone to find it’s way back to the network, but you drive a couple miles and still nothing. The windshield wipers are flapping, and your head is throbbing to the beat. It doesn’t make you feel any better to look down and realize you’re almost out of gas and are about two minutes from coasting on Empty. You’ve got seven dollars in your wallet, but then there’s a couple hundred in your checking, and also the emergency credit card with an impressive $500 limit. All of that needs to be stretched out for another week until next payday.
Coming up on your left, you see a sign for “Gary’s Garage” right next to a double garage mechanics shop and a two pump gas station. You’re not sure if you have the luxury of pricing gallons of gas right now, with the way you’re about to be stuck on the side of the road, but out of habit, you check the prices on the sign anyway.
Wait...you try to focus your eyes, thinking maybe you’re seeing things, or perhaps one of the numbers on the sign had fallen off. There is no way gas is 5.7 cents a gallon, that’s insane. You figure maybe someone just put and extra zero in the front, so you hit your blinker and pull over your old truck bouncing down through a large puddle.
The rain shower lets up, thankfully, because there is no awning over where you need to pump your gas. You get out and pause at how old the gas tanks are. Nothing digital, all black and white flip numbers like on those old alarm clocks, and no where to pay outside. After looking at both of the tanks and scratching your head for a good minute or so, you turn to go inside when you see someone walking over from the garage.
He’s about your age, wearing dark gray coveralls that match the color of the overcast sky, long, curly dark hair tied back in a ponytail, and a blue banana on his head. He’s wiping is hands on a rag as his eyes widen at you, getting closer, close enough for you to see that his lips are soft and full, and his eyes are dark but kind.
“This way, follow me,” He tells you, motioning with a twitch of his head, cleaning down between the webs of his fingers as he goes.
You do as he says, in through the glass doors to a small space with two vending machines and a desk with an old fashioned cash register. You notice that the soda machine offers the drink TAB, which is a diet drink you haven’t seen around since you were just a kid. On the window sill behind him, there is a tiny black and white TV the size of a toaster with a vintage daytime soap opera on.
He reaches into a brown lunch sack on the window sill and puts a pretzel into his mouth. “How much do you want?” He asks, the pretzel drying up his mouth so he can’t enunciate as well. He grabs for an open can of Pepsi sitting near the TV to wash it down, and you can see that the creases on the skin of his hands seem to be stained with grease and dirt. “Sorry,” he apologizes. “I forgot to eat today.”
“It’s alright,” you see that the name on his coveralls reads: Eddie. “I just realized that I forgot to eat today, too,” you say, putting a hand on your stomach.
His tongue slips along his teeth under his lips to make sure there is no pretzel goo stuck behind as he looks at you, waiting for an answer to his question, but then he pulls a box of tissues out from under the counter and passes it to you.
“You’ve got…” he points to his eyes and makes a circle around one of them, and then points to you. “...from the rain probably but…”
Oh god, no. You realize that you never took a look at your face in the rear view before you got out of the truck. You’re so used to paying at the pump and getting the hell out of there without having to talk to anyone, you weren’t prepared to meet a cute guy in overalls.
“Um, thank you,” you say, self-consciously, sticking the tip of your tongue out to moisten the tissue so that you can wipe under your eyes. You look around and don’t see any type of reflective service to check and see if you got it all, but Eddie assures you:
“You got it,” he says with a wink. And then he stands there waiting, and you forgot what he asked you again, but finally…
“Gas! Right,” you look out at your truck, knowing what a gas guzzler she is. “Do you take debit cards?”
His forehead tightens, not sure he heard you correctly. “We take credit cards, sure.”
He reaches down to the same shelf where the tissue box had been and pulls out an archaic credit card machine that presses the credit card numbers onto the receipt with carbon paper. They haven’t been around in...20 years? Maybe more?
You wonder how this mom and pop, completely analogue service station, has been able to stay in business by keeping everything so simple. He sees that your hand trembles as you look through your wallet, realizing you don’t have the cash you thought you had, and then touching the credit card, trying to do the math in your head.
“We also take trade,” he tells you, matter-of-fact, tapping his finger on the wood table top, as if that’s another world wide form of modern currency.
“Trade?” Your mouth drops open a bit, your eyes shifting around, hoping he doesn’t mean sexual favors. But for him in particular, though, you might consider it.
“If...if you don’t have cash, I mean. You can just give me something in trade for the gas.”
You can’t tell if he’s serious or not. “I’m sure your boss wouldn’t like that.”
“How do you know I’m not the boss?” He asks, squaring his shoulders, crossing his arms at his chest, but then a little smirk pulls up one side of his mouth. Slowly, his smile widens, disarmingly, and it helps you to drop your guard.
“God, I’m having the worst day,” you confess to him on an exhale, your shoulders sinking, angry at yourself for feeling tears building in your eyes again. “You ever have one of those days when everything feels off and everything goes wrong?”
“Yeah,” he scoffs. “I’d say that’s pretty much every other day for me,” he gestures around with his free hand, and then he steadies his eyes on you and nibbles at his lip.
You choke back a sob that is lingering in your throat.
“Listen, what about this,” he is making a little circle on the table with his finger as he talks. “What if I get your gas for you, and then you let me take you to dinner?”
Your head snaps up, your bloodshot eyes meeting his. “Like...a date?”
He shrugs. “Or, just two people eating together. Whichever sounds better to you, princess.”
You inadvertently make a sloshing sound in your throat, jerking back a small spasm of tears. “I have to...I have get back home.”
Eddie’s eyes look momentarily set with sadness, but then he blinks, wetting his lips with his tongue.
“Where...where is home?” He asks you
You tilt your head as you try to remember, and it feels like trying to recall the colors of a marble lost down a dark well, never to be seen again. Was it red and green or blue and yellow? Did it have sparkles or was it clear with yellow speckles? You know there are so many possibilities in your brain somewhere, but you can’t find it.
“I..I don’t remember,” you cringe as you say it, placing your hand on your forehead to see if you have a temperature.
You snap your eyes up to his. “Hold on, just a second,” and then you pop open the snap on your wallet, your eyebrows knitting together as you turn it horizontally to grab your driver’s license.
“Wait, it should be right here,” you realize that that your ID isn’t in your wallet, neither are your credit cards or your cash. You spread the folds of your wallet open and shake it out on top of the counter, waiting for things to fall out.
Something yellow softly trembles from one of the slits in your wallet folds, and then flutters to the desk, landing between you and Eddie:
It’s the flattened flower from a daffodil; its the only thing in your wallet.
You and Eddie both stare at the flattened flower, and then Eddie picks it up, bringing it to his nose:
“This,” he raises his eyebrow, pinching it delicately, presenting it out like a prize. “This we can trade for. Daffodils don’t grow here this time of the year. This will get you a full tank.”
***
When you open the door to return to your truck, there are little kids scampering away, and one has your license plates clutched to their chest. All of them have long hair and over sized clothes that don’t fit, and the one with the dirty Hawkins basketball jersey seems to growl at you as they scamper across the road.
“Hey!” You scream. “Give that back!”
You start to head after them, but they are already disappearing into the corn fields and Eddie puts his hand on your arm. “Foreigner plates are always the first to go, sweetheart,” he tells you, as if it should be obvious. “They are worth a lot in trade. I thought I would have time to warn you.”
As your brain is trying to assess the situation, you come back to something he said. “Um...foreigner? Is that what you call someone who lives one state away?”
Eddie opens your gas cap and sticks the nozzle into your tank, and then he gives you a smile that you can’t read. “Which state are you in now, princess?”
“Well,” you rest your thigh against the bumper, forehead creased in thought, reaching one finger up to press thoughtfully against your mouth. There is a huge chunk of your memory, of the past 24 years of your life that you simply cannot recall.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Eddie reaches out and squeezes your arm. He ducks his head down to try and get you to meet his eyes. “I’m sure it will all come back to you.”
“I feel like…” you search his face; it’s familiar in a way that makes you feel comforted, even though he is a stranger. “...like I was upset about something, but now I can’t remember what it was.”
He releases your arm, lifting his chin with a grin. “Well, that’s good, isn’t it? You just need some food and some rest.”
“Sure, if you say so.” you are bothered, but you also like the feeling of not having anything weigh on your mind. You’re just in this moment, here with Eddie, in this strange place, without any plates on your vehicle.
Eddie pumps your gas for you while you sit with your legs dangling out of the passenger seat to talk to him.
“When you check in at the motel, let Claudia know that you’re a friend of mine, hopefully she’ll give you a deal,” Eddie tells you. But, then he squints, “Mmmmh, or she also might charge you more, depends on her mood.”
“Motel?” You cock you head, confused.
“Oh, well,” Eddie sticks his free hand in his pocket. “I figured you’d be staying at The Grove because it’s the only motel in town.”
You remember a motel, that rings a bell. “Yeah,” you tell him, feeling a little better, like maybe things were coming back to you. “I am staying at a motel. I just forgot the name.”
You reach over to grab your phone so that you can put The Grove Motel into your GPS when you realize it’s not on the dash mount, and you can’t find it anywhere. With a curse, you realize that those kids must’ve taken it. Next to you on the seat is your suitcase, and your overnight back with toiletries and snacks is on the floorboard, and you are grateful they didn’t have time to take those. Your phone was insured for theft, and so you figured you’d just deal with that back at the motel.
“Okay, well, thank you,” you say to Eddie as you shut the heavy metal door to your truck, manually rolling your window down to continue talking with him. “I guess I’ll...see you later? You said that the diner is next door to the motel?”
Eddie nods, wiping his hands again. “It’s just a block away, connected to the bowling alley with the big, neon sign. You can’t miss it.”
He also said he would keep an eye out for your phone (in his head, he’s picturing a handheld landline with a cord, and doesn’t know why you had one in your truck) and your plates, in case anyone tries to trade them for gas or garage services; this happens a lot, apparently. Eddie gave you directions to the motel, which was basically a straight shot a couple miles down the road, and then you waved goodbye out the window as you pulled back onto the highway. You swore you turned the radio off earlier, but the same song Melt with You by Modern English is playing again, and you give it a curious look before turning the dial to find another station. Static and then...Master of Puppets by Metallica...a news story quoting Chief Jim Hopper...strange electric buzzing...the song Running up that hill (make a deal with god) by Kate Bush….more static...and then what sounds like two young kids talking back and forth on their walkie-talkies.
You snap the radio off just in time to make room to pass by 4 young kids hurrying along on their bikes. Ahead of you on the horizon, the sunset glows pink, purple, and orange, and a strange certainty washes over you, assuring you that you’ve been here before.
Eddie stands in the same place, watching you go, excitement and fear gripping his heart. He stuffs the rag into his back pocket and goes to twirl one of the rings on his hand like he normally does, but then he remembers they are all in a dish inside the shop.
A tall, scruffy, older man with a full head of gray hair and a mustache walks over from the garage to stand next to him. He’s in a pair of jeans with a dark blue, button-down shirt that has “Gary” embroidered on the pocket.
“Well, I’ll be damned. Another one,” Gary says, crossing his arms over his chest.
Eddie nods his head, silently, squinting as tiny flecks of raindrops hit his face, watching your brake lights tap as you pass a group of kids.
“She doesn’t remember anything,” Eddie says, biting his cheek in thought. “Just like the others.”
“She will,” Gary assures him, clapping a hand on his shoulder. “When the time is right, it will all come back to her. Poor thing.”

title: the date
(this was originally uploaded on wattpad)
Tumblr media
you were ready at 7. you look into the mirror, preparing for the worst date of your life. deep down you wanted to go, considering how satoru had your legs shaking a few hours ago and your still a little wobbly.
a bang could be heard at your door, that would be satorus foot sense he was holding a giant bouquet of flowers in his left hand and the keychain of his car keys swinging around his index finger in his right.
he was wearing his sunglasses and a white dress shirt, his sleeve slightly rolled up to his elbows; the sexiest thing a man can possibly do and he looked so good.
the moment you open the door he grins. "aw and i was secretly hoping you weren't ready." he places the flowers on the table beside the inside of your front door and he pulls you out by your waist.
"my phones inside." you go to re-open the door but he pulls you away by your wrist.
"you won't be needing that, i promise ill be able to hold your attention for a few hours."
"oh you think you will? where are you taking me?"
"impatient as ever, you'll have to wait for the surprise." he opens his car door for you and sarcastically gestures for you to get in. "your seat madam."
you giggle, rolling your eyes before taking his hand and helping yourself into his car.
a minty scent filled your nostrils once he nearly slammed the door shut, oblivious to how expensive his own car was. casual satoru.
after hoping in himself be lifts his sunglasses from his face and placed them on your head. considering his car windows and windshields were practically completely black out.
"you ready?" he smirks, blasting the A/C before driving off with a loud roar.
your arms shiver at the breeze. "not really."
"oh don't give me that attitude now, you and i both know your exited aren't you?"
the undertone of sass in his voice is what makes him so punchable that you almost wanna fuck it out of him. "only a little bit."
he smirks. "oh only just a little? don't worry i'll make it worth your while."
arriving at what seemed to be a fancy restaurant; well, that's a close assumption. sense he's the only car here he probably rented the whole place out.
inside was fucking beautiful for no reason. you were impressed. you didn't take satoru for the guy to go all out, he seems more like the fast food douch type of guy but sometimes you forget this man is annoyingly rich.
you sit down at a table for two, nobody was in there except the two of you. his efforts make you smile.
"well would you look at that, y/n smiling?"
"you seriously rented out a whole ass restaurant? i'm really impressed." you smirk, your brow raising.
he cockily grins and flicks his wrist dramatically. "oh shucks." his voice was laced with sarcasm. "we're you expecting any less?"
"welllll" you drag. "maybe."
he gives you a 'hmph' while shaking his head. the waiter finally, nervously comes over and takes our orders. the poor girl looked new to the job. of corse satoru ordered almost everything on the menu. this man eats so much yet stays so skinny. you envy him.
the date went... surprisingly good. of corse satoru was making you laugh and keeping you flustered all while keeping you on your toes. he was slick with everything he did. you barley noticed you were blushing a majority of the time.
heading back to the car with a cheesy smile on your face from the way he kept purposely bumping your shoulder with his elbow and trying to trip you repeatedly. but he knows damn well if you were falling mid air he'd catch you.
"thank you, i had a good time." you say looking to your left as he settled himself in the drivers seat.
he looks over at you and brushes your hair behind your ear. "the days not over yet."
you feel his fingers linger against your ear and sadly only that much of physical touch is making your thighs squeeze together.
as he pulls his hand away to start his car you pull it back and hold it against your cheek, kissing the palm of his big ass hand. his fingers were soft. you don't know what got into you but your body was just on autopilot for a second.
"hm," he hums, amused by your sudden boldness. he grazes his thumb across your gloss coated bottom lip. "what?"
you really put yourself on the spot with this one. 'what' was right. cause your asking yourself the same thing. "i like it when you touch my face."
"oh?" your fingers that were holding his hand to your cheek slowly glide down his arm in a teasing manner. earning the reward of his smirk. "is this you trying to seduce me?"
feeling your cheeks heat up, you shrug. the shrug giving both truth and lie cause you really didn't know what you were doing, but you were aware of how your pussy reacts to him. almost like it got a mind of its own. and right now it was controlling you. "maybe."
he moves his hand from your cheek to behind your ear and through your hair. "not really your gig is it?"
"will you ever stop being annoying?"
"nah, not to you at least."
you smirk and lean in closer. yeah, it wasn't your brain nor your heart taking control. this was one hundred percent your hormones.
"oh your feelin' ballsey huh." he smirks, his eyes starring at your appetizing lips.
his hand wraps around the back of your hair and pulls you closer, it feels like a magnetic field the way your lips come crashing together. like he was showing you that you weren't alone in having your genitals taking over like fucking ratatouille in your pubes or something.
he nearly yanks you over his console and onto his lap. his seat reclining and his hands planted on your hips.
your dress took the hint sense it was sliding up over your ass. reveling his surprise from you wearing no panties.
you feel his fingers reach to tug at the strings of your underwear but he realized there was nothing to tug on.
you feel the giant smirk on his lips as he realizes. but you don't back away, not yet. you need more of his lips. more of his tongue. more of his teeth bitting your bottom lip. like it was addicting.
his hands hold you in place as he presses his bulge against you. the fabric of his pants wetting from the touch of your needing folds. that's how wet you were.
your hand slides to his belt, unbuttoning it with ease and before you know it his dick was out and behind your ass.
(play: partition-beyoncé) <short version>
your chest is flushed up against his as you teasingly move your hips around on him. his long fingers sinking into your ass as a low groan leaves his throat. "don't make me wait any longer." he mumbles against your lips.
"i think you can wait a little longer." you tease, his cock throbs against you with need.
"i need you now y/n, so damn bad." his breath hitches between his sentence. you were soooo fucking ready to give in. give into both of your desires. but teasing him was so much funner.
"your gonna have to beg a little."
he softly sighs, his eyes closing but he's willing. "please, i need to be inside of you."
"not good enough."
"y/n," you can feel his cock twitch. "please." his voice was breathless, almost a whisper.
you grab his shaft from behind, stroking it teasingly. "like you mean it, satoru."
his eyes flutter as you lift up and position his tip to your slick folds, teasing him even more. "please, i want you to ride me y/n."
you slowly sink down on his cock. only taking his tip. "this enough?"
"you can take it all."
you sink only half way. "like this?" you smirk.
with a huff he grabs your hips tightly and thrusts into you. causing you to yelp.
you watch satorus eyes flick between yours and where you two connect. "see? i knew you could do it." he places a hand on your middle back, flushing you against his chest. his other hand snaking around your hip to your ass.
you run your tongue over the flesh of his shoulder between your teeth. biting down as he pumps into you. "so wet for me." he grunts.
"harder.. satoru.." tingles run down your spine as he pushes you back up, he takes both of your hands in his so you have support.
"lets see you do it yourself." he says with a smirk, giving your hands a gentle squeeze.
not for one second does his blue eyes look away from yours. he watches as your face twists into pleasure as you start grinding your hips back and fourth. his cock hitting every right spot.
"i'm so close." you whine.
he lifts his hips slightly to give you deeper access. "i know, your getting so tight."
he lets go of one of your hands and moves it to your aching clit. his thumb pressuring and rubbing exactly where you need it. "satoru," you cry. your head falling limp as your eyes close.
"hm, look at me." he rubs your clit a little faster, earning a moan from you. your lidded eyes landing on his again. "good girl. say my name." he holds back a grin.
"satoru," your free hand lands in his shoulder, your nails digging into his soft skin. "fuck satoru." you move your hips faster.
"just like that." he grits. his eyes flicking to his thumb working on your clit. "you gonna cum for me?"
burying your face into his shoulder, you nod. your ridding getting sloppier as your orgasm approaches. "satoru—"
"your squeezing me so fucking tight." he whispers over your moans.
you use his shoulder to muffle your whimpers and cries, bitting down firmly. your orgasm riding out on his cock.
you feel his hands move from where they were and grab your ass, he moves it for you as he starts to thrust again. "we're not done." his tone is almost teasing; causing you to whine.
"i can't." your voice is barley a whisper.
"you sure?" he thrusts up against you. causing a louder moan to echo through the car. "you can take it."
you know your at your limit. your still sensitive from your previous orgasm. but his voice is so hypnotic that you can't refuse.
his movements speeds up, his fingers leaving behind marks on your ass as he grips it harder and harder.
you keep your face buried between his shoulder and neck, feeling lazy from your prior orgasm.
but you suddenly jolt up when you hear a knock on the car window.
satoru grabs your face and forces your gaze on him. "the widows are black out, nobody can see us." he smirks, giving you a teasing thrust before helping you off of him and back to the passenger seat, as you fix your dress he fixes his pants.
he roles the window down to see one of his students; yuji itadori.
"gojo! i knew this was your car, your uh tires flat." the boy nervously scratches the back of his head and smiles as he makes eye contact with you. "hey y/n, i didn't know you and gojo sensei were buddies!"
"er– yeah i guess we are." you smile back, your face still flushed with embarrassment.
satoru shifts his seat back to its place before sighing. "ill have to do a quick tire change. which tire is it?"
the pink haired boy gestures to the front left, on satorus side. "front on your side, maybe something's wrong with your car? it looked like it was shaking a second ago." he shrugs.
your face flushes more, you can't even look itadori in the eyes right now. it just feels too wrong.
"oh heh," satoru chuckles. "we were just blasting music and dancing! that's all."
"ah, i see." itadori replies, he's clueless. too innocent. "well me and fushiguro were just across the street at the arcade if you guys wanna join!"
satoru starts to slowly role the window up. "give us 30." once the window is all the way up satoru grabs you and places you on his lap again. squeezing your thighs straddling his lap. "so, where were we?"
"i think.." you buck your hips against his already re-hardened bulge. "you were in the middle of making me cum again." you lean in and press your lips against his for a short kiss, breaking away and rest your forehead against his.
"right!" he gives your ass a playful snack, lifting your dress. "i'm on top this time."

driving with prefects
Tumblr media
in honor of constantly being reminded that leona can drive, i am writing up a brief dorm leader head canon post. i just think it would be a fun set of head canons, you know? (also it’s been a bit since i’ve posted like content).
i haven’t read any translations for the new event ft. leona and whatnot. so if my head canons don’t align with canon...take it with a grain of salt.
for the sake of these head canons, i’m mostly thinking about manual cars. because i know magic enhanced technology exists within twst. but when i think about driving, i’m thinking about like...regular cars, you know.
malleus draconia
unfamiliar is malleus with manual cars. after all, they’re so different from vehicles operated by magic alone. when he gets behind the wheel, he’s very cautious. sometimes, the things he does are reckless (your heart was beating so fast it would have exploded). but that’s because he isn’t used to driving with stick. or even having experience with manually shifting the car into different modes. he also needs to put his seat as far back as possible because of how tall he is and he needs a tall car so his horns aren’t squished. it can get very uncomfortable very quickly.
child of man, this car is very confusing. how do i activate the windshield wipers? i would not want us to get into an accident.
riddle rosehearts
getting on the road is honestly the worst for him. riddle is an anxious driver. he hates traffic, hates people honking at him, and most certainly hates getting on parkways and highways. he doesn’t mind driving in the countryside where he can drive smoothly and as fast as he desires. no one’s around after all. but with other people, he becomes a mess. he also has a bit of road rage within him. you’ve never heard someone curse as much as he did when someone cut him off. riddle also happens to follow the rules a little too well. he’s always going under or at the speed limit, always checking his blind spots, always signalling his turns even in parking lots. he is, arguably, the best parker.
oh come on! didn’t even signal while switching lanes! cut me off and everyone else too! there’s more than you in the world you know!
vil schoenheit
vil is an awful driver. not in the sense that he doesn’t follow the general rules of driving (because great seven forbid he gets into an accident and it becomes a scandal) but in the way that his braking tends to be...janky. his turns can range from being smooth to jarring. and the man lacks the ability to park. he’s horrible at parking. you learned your lesson when you got into the car with him driving (better off with rook). ironically, he’s a lot better at driving while he’s multitasking, like touching up his makeup or answering phone calls. honestly, he just needs a little practice. with every drive, he improves even in the slightest. he has no problem dedicating hours to practicing driving either. he just doesn’t have the time right now.
normally i don’t drive. my father had drivers for me. but i can. it’s just...been a while. i’m a little rusty is all.
leona kingscholar
leona, having driven for a while now, is one of the best drivers amongst the prefects (and arguably the whole school). he follows the general rules but definitely enjoys going fast. he especially likes to take scenic routes (there’s something peaceful about late night drives, you know). however, he is very possessive of the aux. you’re not allowed to play your playlists unless it’s a really long trip. besides, he prefers to listen to podcasts and audiobooks while driving. he kind of has a conversation with the audiobook or podcast. it’s cute to watch leona react in real time.
that is ridiculous! doesn’t she understand that he’s the bad guy? that he’s awful? she’s better off getting with the second lead anyways!
azul ashengrotto
putting a creature from the seat into a car is a bad idea. there’s only one person that is, arguably, worse than vil. and that is azul. now, it’s not really azul’s fault. he’s not really used to land traffic rules. but that doesn’t take away from the fact that you have almost gotten into a plethora of accidents with azul behind the wheel. he gets pretty anxious while on the road and does his turn signals, lane changes. but he’s pretty awful at guessing distance and lacks spatial awareness. naturally, this also inhibits his parking skills. his parking skills are pretty awful.
the coral sea traffic is not nearly as bad. i mean half of these rules don’t even make sense (y/n)!
kalim al-asim
kalim is a wonderful driver! his driving is really smooth and he’s a joy with to be in the car. there’s always something to talk about while he’s driving. and he’ll let you play your music, podcast, audiobook. the two of you have had so many lovely conversations while driving. there isn’t much to say. plus, kalim is pretty great at parking too. he’s always willing to go on errand runs with you and take you out on late night drives.
oh (y/n)! you need to get something from the grocery store? i was heading there anyways. hop in!
idia shroud
much to your surprise, you learned that idia is not an anxious driver. he seems like he would be. but no. he feels like he’s in a video game whenever he drives. and he absolutely loves the adrenaline rush that he gets from going fast. slamming on that gas petal is extremely satisfying to him. furthermore, traffic becomes a puzzle to him. a puzzle to solve on how to get out of traffic. everyone else becomes npcs. and you have almost thrown up from how motion sick you’ve gotten in his car.
ohohoho! traffic? guess we can play a game of how to escape! it should be relatively easy considering how all the normies drive.

Tumblr media
Levi clutches the seat belt that wraps tightly around his chest with white knuckles. He's flung forward yet again as the truck you both currently sat in took a massive dip in the dirt path, no thanks to your erratic swerving. He looks over to you with a signature scowl and a pointed look. You’re quick to shoot back a toothy grin. He knew better than to let you drive but he suggested it anyways since his knee pains were flaring up again with the oncoming storm.
“Will you keep your eyes on the fucking road?” Levi grumbles through clenched teeth.
“I am! But you won’t stop shooting daggers my way.” You swerve around another hole, almost hitting the wooden fence that separates the road from an open pasture, currently devoid of any farm life.
“I’m only doing that because you’re literally the worst driver I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing.” Levi’s grip on the belt tightens. He looks up through the windshield of the threatening dark gray clouds that were rolling in far too fast for his liking. The weatherman had said the storm would be arriving later in the evening, but it seems the weather gods were feeling spiteful today. “Also, why the fuck would you think taking the backroads would be a better option??”
“I just thought they’d be quicker. I know how storms can get for you…” You trail off as you risk a glance over to your friend. He doesn’t give you a reaction so you continue, “I just wanted to get you home faster.”
“More like get me killed faster.”
“Hey! I’m trying my best here!” You hit a bump at full speed. You shriek as you grip the wheel hard to keep it straight. “At least it’s not raining yet!”
Curse you and your damn words. A heavy raindrop hits the windshield with a splat. Then another. And another. And suddenly it’s downpouring. Not enough to blind you fully but it’s loud against the truck’s body. You sense Levi tensing up next to you and you silently curse at yourself. You take a deep breath before glancing over to him with another grin.
 “It’s fine! I know where we’re going. We’ll be there in no time!” You feign a good tone. You only hear more grumbles in response.
.
After another 15 minutes of driving down a now muddy path, it was extremely clear that you had no idea where you were going. Levi hadn’t said anything the whole time, but he was increasingly getting more stressed, and you could feel it. You thought this was the right way, but you were questioning yourself. With the rain now coming down in sheets, it was even harder to see. Maybe you missed a turn?? You spot another divot and turn the wheel so you can drive around it, making sure to slow down. But that smart decision quickly turns into a big mistake. You feel the driver’s side tilt down and the truck abruptly stops.
“What did you do?” Levi glares hard at you.
“I was trying to swerve around a hole but I think there was another one on the other side.” You squeak. You press down on the gas, and you hear the truck rumble but not move. Mud sprays your window as you do so. You do it again, more rumbling, more mud. “I think we’re stuck.”
“You think so?” Levi’s voice is cold, jaw locked and tense.
“Listen man, I can’t control the weather. I was trying to do this for you!” You whip your head over to his icy gaze and give him an equally narrow glare.
“I never asked you to.” Levi digs his fingers into his thighs and looks away, out the window with his back turned to you.
“I know you hate storms but you don’t have to be so mean.” You huff and quickly unbuckle your seat belt before sticking the gear into neutral. Levi glances back over to you at the noise.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m going to try and push.” You pull up your cloth hood and zip your jacket up to your neck. It wasn’t much but it was better than nothing.
“The fuck you will. By yourself?”
“Well, you could help.” You turn to face him. His matching stormy eyes are wide at you, but he says nothing. “Yeah, okay.” You mutter before opening the door and sliding out into the raging wind and rain. You immediately regret it. In mere seconds you’re soaked to the bone. You tuck yourself in to keep in some warmth as you make your way over to the front of the truck, stepping around the massive hole it was currently stuck in. Muddy water went up to the middle of the tire and the way the hole was, there was no way to go forward. But if you could push the vehicle back, then you might be able to get it back on even ground.
You grip the front of the cold, wet metal and start pushing. It barely moves an inch. Of course. You do your best to plant your feet into the squishy mud under you and push again. There’s some movement, but not enough to make a difference. Wiping the rain from your face with an equally wet sleeve, you bend your knees a little and grunt as you push again. You feel it shift and move even more. You’re doing it! You glance into the windshield but notice the truck is empty. Something rustles next to you and you jump as suddenly you notice a figure to the left of you. It’s Levi. His raven-hair is already plastered to his skin from the rain, water dripping down his face as he pushes against the metal.
“What!?” He yells over to the rain to you, his eyes cutting into yours.
“Nothing!” You scream back, giving him a lopsided smile. “Thanks!”
“Whatever, just push!” It takes quite a few more before you’re able to get the wheel mostly out of the hole, the muddy water now just above the bottom of the tire.
“I think we just need one more big push!” You shout over to Levi, giving him a thumbs up. He nods and digs his shoes into the mud, you doing the same on the other side. “On three!”
“One… two… THREE!” You both shove on the hood at the same time and you feel like laughing because it gives easily, rolling back and out of the hole before stopping abruptly on flat land. But the shove was a little too strong and you find yourself falling face first with nothing to lean against and you’re suddenly tasting mud. You’re quick to push yourself up as you splutter out the disgusting water, wiping it from your eyes with a groan. When you look over, Levi is in the exact same predicament. If looks could kill.
“See, this is why I didn’t want to be out here!” You can’t help it, you burst out in laughter at the sight in front of you. Levi is drenched head to toe in dark mud, everything now brown. His face is just as covered save for his eyes and mouth that he just swiped clean. He scowls and says your name with irritation.
“Levi, come on! I know I got us here but everything else wasn’t my fault!” You frown at him. His sour mood was really starting to grate on you. You’re usually used to it but today was different.
You really didn’t mean to get the two of you into this predicament. You knew storms were the reason for his frigid attitude, but you couldn’t help but take it extremely personally. You were just trying to get him home quicker and it’s not like he fought back when you made the initial turn down the road. A distant rumble of thunder rolls through and Levi’s body freezes for a moment. You didn’t have time to sit out in the rain arguing. “C’mon. Let’s just get in. I can get the seats cleaned later.” You sigh and push yourself up from the ground, mud squishing under your fingers as you do.
Luckily, you kept an emergency kit in the back compartments in case you were stranded during the winter. The season change had come so quickly that you hadn’t had time to pull it out. In it were a couple towels, a reflective heat blanket, water and snacks, as well as a little first aid kit. Both doors shut at the same time and the quick change in volume is deafening. The rain is muffled as it hits the window and another rumble rolls through the sky, closer but still quiet in the safe haven you both found in the truck.
You throw him a towel before using the other to work on cleaning your face and hair. Before you both settled in, you made sure to shut the truck off so as to not waste gas. But because of that, it was now getting colder. Your clothes now feel icy against your skin as the wetness weighs it down. Once you were able to get as much mud off as you could, you quickly pull out the thermal blanket and unfold it. It’s big enough that you and Levi could share if you huddled close. Speaking of…
Levi’s already wiped off any traces of mud on his skin. He looks over to you as he’s cleaning behind his ears, his eyes softened considerably. However, a scowl is still ever-present.
“Are you going to be mad at me forever?” You mumble.
“Depends, are you going to attempt to kill me again?” He snaps back.
“I didn’t know this would happen.” You huff at him again.
“Tch.”
“Well, if you’re going to be that way then I’m not sharing the thermal blanket.” You wrap the thin aluminum plastic over your body and pull yourself into a ball before facing away from him with a pout. You can’t help but think about today as a whole. Sure, the situation you were both in was not favorable, especially with his past and storms. But it felt like there was something else going on with him. He’s been snarkier and ruder than he usually is with you. Ans a lot more serious.
“Levi?” You whisper after a few beats.
“What?”
“Did I do something wrong?” You pull your knees closer to you and hug them to your chest. There’s no response, but he does shift in his seat, it squeaks under him as he does. There’s a resounding silence before he sighs.
“No.” You flip your head to the other side so that you can see him. His gaze flicks over to the window quickly, failing to hide his obvious staring. You smirk at that.
“Then why are you so angry at me?”
“I’m not angry… at you.”
“But you’re angry.”
“…I guess.”
“Why?”
His eyes land on you and there’s pain in them. His typical brick walls are up and it’s infuriating to you because you thought 15-something years of friendship would have broken those down by now. His eyebrows pinch in the middle like they always do when he’s thinking hard about what to say next. And it stays like that for a moment. The rain is lightening up a bit and you can tell because of how much softer it is against the glass. It makes the silence all the more louder.
“What am I to you?” He leans back into the seat as he stares hard into your eyes, searching. The question takes you off guard and you release your legs, making them tumble to the floor so you’re sitting straight up.
“What are you to me? What kind of question is that?” You laugh nervously.
“What… am I… to you?” He whispers slowly. There’s that pain in his eyes again, shining like a lighthouse in the night. Begging for someone to notice it, to take caution.
“I- what do-” He snaps your name, and it makes you jump at his sudden aggression.
“Just answer the question, goddamn it!” Heat flushes to your cheeks as you swallow hard.
“Levi, what do you want to be to me?” Your voice now back to a whisper. He stares incredulously at you for a moment before doing something you never even imagined in a thousand years. He leans forward and closes the distance faster than you can blink. Then his lips are on yours, soft and hot. When he pulls away, it feels as if your entire body has erupted into flames. You pull your fingers to your mouth, still feeling the pressure of his against it. His wide eyes must reflect your own because you both gawk at each other in silence.
“Fuck, I-I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thi-” He stutters before he’s silenced by you throwing yourself in his direction and pushing your lips back on to him. Eyes closed this time, you wrap your arms around his neck to hold him closer. Levi doesn’t hesitate to dig his fingers into your hips to pull you into him as he meets your rhythm, heaving chests pressed against each other as you both struggle for air. You both push away at the same time and take a deep breath, gazing hard at each other.
Levi’s face is flushed the most beautiful red you've ever seen and his damp hair was tousled every which way from your wandering hands. He doesn’t say anything, but you don’t mind. You don’t mind because you’re already pulling his shirt up and he’s tugging at your pants, cloth gripped tight under clenched fists. Whatever he is to you, it’s obvious that it’s more than just friends. And you were okay with that.

Arms Warm Like A Cigarette
Tumblr media
Fandom: Resident Evil.
Category: F/M.
Relationship: Chris Redfield x Female Reader.
Type: One shot.
Words: 3,080.
Summary: Minutes before the start of the most important mission of his life, Chris is left alone with [Y/N], and tension rises as they confess to each other the unspeakable truth.
Chronology: Resident Evil 8.
~~~~~~~~~~
"... Goddammit, when does it end?"
"What's that, sir? The mission?"
"All of it. Three years, trying to put this thing in the ground. Three years too long."
The rain was pouring hard outside the car as I looked out the window. The forest surrounded us, making me feel trapped in its immensity just by looking at it, adding to the confined feeling I sensed creeping up on me as I sat idly in my seat. Everything was quiet inside, contrasting with the loudly roaring weather; but still not loud enough to cover all my thoughts.
"Captain-"
"It's gonna be fine." He cut me off before I could speak further.
He tried concealing it as best as he could, but the bitterness in his voice still came through, as he was still processing the bad news he had just received. And yet, he knew I was tense, he knew how I was feeling deep down, despite the silence. I was scared. I did not want to go out there, scared that our mission would end in failure, fearing for the worst to happen. And the weather was not helping my case. If anything, it made me want to stay inside even more.
I heard the sound of fire crackling to my side and as I turned my head to look at him, Chris was putting a freshly lit cigarette on the edge of his lips. His gloved hands held it in between his fingers with delicacy, the cigarette he was moving around bringing light to the otherwise dark interior. He took a puff, before slowly turning his head to look at me, a spark of softness in his eyes.
"It is, [Y/N]. Don't worry." He said lowly, weighing each of his words to try and reassure me.
I looked down at my lap and at my arsenal around my waist, and on my chest, and all around me.
"I know... I'm fine, sir. Thanks for your concern."
I replied to him in a quiet voice, not daring to speak too loud; no matter how much time I spent around him, Chris would always intimidate me, just by looking my way. And this case was no different. The already pre-existing pressure on my shoulders was accentuated by the tension reigning between us. That tension so sharp we could have cut it with a knife; and, fairly, there was more than one reason behind that tension, but I was not sure myself which one was truly predominant. Both Chris and I were tense about the mission, there was no doubt about it; the cigarette he held at the tips of his fingers was enough to prove it. But there was something else. Something deeper. Something both of us were aware of, but neither of us wanted to speak of.
"... Captain, are you scared?"
I spoke out suddenly, breaking the heavy silence as I shyly gave him a quick look. He scoffed lightly before taking another puff of his cigarette, his eyes fixed on the windshield, as if searching for something on the horizon.
"You know, [Y/N], I've been through a lot. I've pretty much seen it all by now." He started, still averting his eyes from me. "And people always assume it makes my job easier, that it makes me immune to what's happening around me... Truth is, even I get scared sometimes."
Although he was not looking at me, I had my eyes aimed right at him, contemplating him passionately, in a way I could not control; deep down, I felt grateful, and even worthy, to hear Chris confess himself to me with so few filters. He had always been a man of few words, not saying more than what was necessary, and was a complete mystery when it came to his emotional state. He never told anyone what was going through his mind, and what his thoughts were. Except me.
After a while of working with him, for him, I had noticed he was getting slightly more relaxed around me, and a little less professional. He was still my Captain, my superior, but it was as if, one day, something had changed inside of him, and his behavior regarding me had shifted. And that included venting to me; on a few occasions, not daily, but still. I could not help but take pride in it, knowing I was the only one he had chosen to ramble to when he needed to, and it always made me wish for more. Our whole squad, especially the members I was closest to knew about it, and always reminded me how lucky I was to have such a privilege. I knew damn well I was lucky, and all I wished for was for my luck not to run out.
"And this is one of those times."
He talked out of the blue, extracting me from my thoughts, and making me blink a few times to put my focus back on him. He was still staring right in front of him, but the spark of kindness that was once there had vanished.
"... Is there anything I can do?" I asked almost in a whisper, leaning my head to try and search for his eyes.
He lowered his gaze at the wheel and took the cigarette out of his mouth; he remained that way for a bit, staying silent and seeming to be lost in thought, after which he turned his entire body to me and stared deeply into my eyes.
"Are you scared?"
I stared back into his eyes for a few seconds, before looking away, unable to hold his gaze.
"I... don't really know." I started while fiddling with my equipment. "I am, I think. But..."
I gathered the courage to look back up and stare once again into his deep blue eyes, feeling a layer of blush appear on my cheeks.
"I'm scared for you, sir." I admitted, sensing the blush intensify.
He closed his eyes and scoffed, giving me a faint smile he did not try to hide.
"Why?" He asked, a slight sense of amusement in his voice.
I held my breath as he stared back at me with eyes glowing with warmth.
"I-"
I sensed a heatwave flowing through my whole body, almost paralyzing me on the spot. It was unimaginable for me to speak my mind. I was unable to tell him the truth. That I cared about him. That there was something deeper than a fellowship between a subordinate and her Captain from my perspective. I had tried fighting it, keeping these thoughts at bay, but as his second-in-command and closest woman of arms, I spent all my days around him, and it never let me enough time to suppress these feelings before I lay my eyes upon him again the next day, letting it all resurface.
And now, with the news that Ethan had died at the hands of Miranda, I feared more than ever for his life.
"I..." I started shakily as I tried articulating a sentence. "I just..."
I looked through the window for a second, observing the falling rain, before defeatedly turning back to Chris, looking into his eyes.
"It's nothing, Captain... Forget it."
He looked at me with intensity, an undecipherable expression on his face, and although I felt a trace of judgment in it, I could not divert my eyes from him; slowly, he brought his cigarette to his mouth, my eyes following his hand before inevitably ending on his lips, which opened just as slowly before closing right back.
"Tell me what's on your mind." He said deeply as he exhaled a cloud of smoke around us.
Having him sit right next to me, his body turned to face mine, his eyes fixed on me with no desire to look away, I felt a sudden shiver going along my back, intensifying the longer I was looking at him. I eventually lowered my gaze to my lap, before staring at him again with a hint of sadness in my eyes.
"Is that an order... sir?"
Taking one last puff on his cigarette, he then crushed it dry into the ashtray, allowing his free hands to rest on his lap. He looked at me with eyes that expressed a multitude of feelings.
"It is." He replied solemnly, a touch of tenderness in his voice.
I had reached my breaking point and could no longer look at him, feeling the emotions starting to overflow inside of me.
"I..." I started, my voice beginning to tremble. "I can't..."
I rapidly lowered my head, looking down as I closed my eyes. I shook my head at a slow pace as I felt I could cry at any moment. Suddenly, I felt the warmth of a hand holding my chin, making me raise my head up. I let the hand guide me and felt my heart nearly skip a beat; Chris was leaning close to me, his eyes seeing no other object of focus than mine, expressing care and affection. He had taken his gloves off beforehand, without even me noticing it, and the touch of his bare hand against my skin made me lose my train of thought.
"It's ok..." He whispered softly.
It was far from being the first time he and I were touching each other, or sitting so close to one another. But this time was different from all the previous times. This time it was just him and I; this time, he offered me the chance to share a moment of intimacy with him, confined in this car that smelled of smoke and rain.
My chin still held by his fingers, his face was only inches away from mine, the same strong passion burning in his eyes.
"You can let it all out." He continued softly.
"No, I can't." I fired back quickly, feeling my words getting trapped in my throat. "... Don't make me do this, sir..."
He squeezed my chin gently, making me look at him despite how much I wanted to look away, to hide my face in case I would start crying, which I sensed was on the verge of happening. We exchanged a long, deep look, and it was as if his eyes, tender and loving were asking mine for permission for something; in a deep inhale, my eyes answered back with approval, and that was all Chris needed.
"Let me do it for you, then."
In the blink of an eye, he swiftly put a hand on his headset and took it off, before setting it to the side; his other hand still on my face, he moved to my cheek and held it tight. Before I could react, his lips were touching mine, kissing me with such passion that it made my limbs weak. The feeling of his beard, thick and rough, scratching gently against my lips started to intoxicate me, taking me places I had never explored before, until the taste of cigarette hit my throat and brought me back to reality; with Chris leaning on me, I unconsciously pressed my hands on his chest, as my brain was telling me it was going too far and that I needed to push him back. But all it did was make him start taking off his equipment, removing his guns and belts, and leaving them on his seat, as he pinned himself harder against me. Following his train of thought, I removed mine as well, stripping off the uncomfortable and cumbersome jacket I had on. With nothing in the way, he held my body tighter as he continued to kiss me, wrapping me whole and making me feel so small under his weight, his arms warm like a cigarette.
"Captain-" I said in a heavy breath in-between two kisses.
He pulled away and took the time to stare into my eyes before reaching for my lips again.
"You can drop the formalities, [Y/N]. Just go by Chris."
I nodded shyly and gulped as his whispers bounced off my skin.
"Yes, sir- Chris."
He chuckled in a low voice against my lips, and I felt myself blushing in embarrassment.
This is going to take some getting used to...
The rain kept on falling around us as Chris pulled away, for good this time. He looked at me with eyes I had never seen in anyone before, eyes that hypnotized me and made my heart weak.
"Sorry for the cigarette breath... I wouldn't have smoked if I had known this would've happened." He apologized while grabbing the back of his neck with one hand.
"It's alright, I didn't mind it." I said with a shy smile while blushing.
He kept on looking at me with tenderness-filled eyes, silent and thoughtful, before bringing me even closer to him, hugging my whole body tightly. I rest my head in the crook of his neck, breathing in his cologne and feeling my ears turn pink as a desire to nuzzle my nose against his skin grew in me. We were both quiet, letting the sound of the rain take over, accompanying the sound of our breaths.
"Is this not too irresponsible of us, Chris?" I asked him, breaking the silence, stuttering slightly at his name. "I mean... Letting ourselves go in such a way, in the middle of such an important mission..."
He remained silent as I pressed my hands against his chest tenderly, tracing circles and all sorts of shapes on the fabric of his turtleneck.
"You took off your headset... and your guns... What if the rest of the team tries getting in contact with you, and they see the line falls dead? What if we suddenly need to head out and don't have enough time to grab our equipment?"
Chris felt the legitimate concern in my voice and put both of his hands over my head, holding it close to him.
"You don't have to worry. I'll call the shots, I'll be the one telling the others when we're starting, but for now, there's no movement in sight. Besides, with rain this heavy, we better wait until it calms down a bit before going out."
I listened to his voice, as deep as the forest, comforting me and warming my core up, as I listened to the sound of his heartbeat, slow and steady. For a moment, nothing else other than him surrounded me; all I could see, all I could think about was him, holding me in his arms as both of us remained in silence. After a short while, he adjusted himself on my seat and found a more comfortable lying position.
"Are you still scared?" He asked me gently, though in a low voice.
"No." I replied in a whisper. "... Thank you."
He exhaled as if to express relief.
"I'm still scared for you, but I know you're going to be fine."
"We both are." He added while squeezing me lightly.
He let go of me a little and looked down at me.
"You know, [Y/N], I didn't do this just to make you feel better and reassure you. I needed it too." He spoke in a soft, heavy voice. "Whether it's right, or wrong, I want you by my side. Not just at work, but all the time."
He looked down from me with saddened eyes, his expression shifting.
"I'd been keeping it inside of me for a long time, and, well... I didn't think now would be the time it would come out. It was inappropriate of me to jump at you in such a situation... I should have held back, I'm sorry."
I stared at him softly, still too moved by his words to express facial emotions clearly.
"Now is as good as any other time." I told him with a smile.
I started fiddling with my hands as I too looked down.
"I'm glad you did it. And I'm glad you told me. I... have been bottling some things up myself. I... couldn't see myself telling you what I was feeling... I thought it was improper and I was afraid you'd think it'd be disrespectful of me, and that I would lose you for it."
Chris looked up and into my eyes, before leaving his gaze to slowly wander all around my face.
He won't say it, because he's got too much pride, but he doesn't need to use words to make me understand he loves me. His eyes say it all.
He held the side of my cheek with one hand before leaving one last kiss on my lips. I cherished it, savored it, knowing it was the last one I would get until quite some time. After having pulled away, Chris looked out the window and searched the horizon; his face had regained its usual seriousness.
"The rain has calmed down, we're gonna be clear to go." He declared.
"Alright." I answered with a nod.
He turned to face me again, but seemed hesitant.
"[Y/N]... are you... ok, keeping us a secret, until this whole thing quiets down? I don't want the squad snooping around our business or asking any intrusive questions..."
I widened my eyes at his question, having not expected such a request, but a part of me was not surprised: it fitted his character well to be of the most secretive kind, a man of few words who wanted his private life to stay that way.
"Yes, sir." I replied solemnly.
He suppressed a scoff as he backed away, getting back on his seat.
"Good. And thank you, [Y/N]."
He put his headset back on, then buckled his equipment again around his chest, and slid his fingers back inside his gloves.
"Now c'mon, gear up." He told me, not too softly, but not too roughly at the same time.
I followed his lead and did the same, putting my jacket back on and readying my weapons. I took a deep breath in and looked down at my hands; I tried repeating to myself every word Chris had told me, every touch he had given me, and once confident enough, I reached for the car door handle.
"[Y/N]." Chris suddenly spoke up, interrupting my movement.
I turned my head to him, my hand still on the handle, and met with his deep blue eyes.
"You're gonna be alright. I'm here." He said in a caring voice.
I smiled at him lovingly as we both opened our doors in unison.
"I know."
Synopsis:
You've been sex deprived, afraid no one will notice the hot tension that was in the air at a restaurant you were in with your boyfriend and friends, one of his best friends did..and it looks like your sex deprived nightmare might be coming to an end. (oh! and the kook and pouge beef doesn't exist here hehe)
TW: cheating!!
The group of friends were all hanging out a the County Club, laughing and making conversations. While Y/N, well..wasn't enjoying it as much as she thought she would. Foot tapping, leg shaking, biting her swollen bottom lip,
Pussy clenching.
Yeah, she wasn't making it. Her and her boyfriend Toby, were dating for almost 2 years. And don't get her wrong, he's a lovely boyfriend. Treats her out, buys her everything she needs and wants, and takes great care of her. But it's one thing that Y/N just can't stand.
No good sex.
Y/N was sex deprived, and she wouldn't dare bring that up to him because she's scared it'll mess up everything that they have. The couple were having sex more often, but it still wasn't enough. It wasn't satisfying people might say. His dick was small, couldn't reach any of her standards. It just wasn't good. At all. 'Lord forgive me' Y/N thought, knowing that all she was ever thinking about was sex. She couldn't get her mind off of it. And it seems like some of her friends caught on with the unnatural behavior.
"Y/N you ok?" Kiara asked her, seeing the uncontrollable foot tapping and lip biting. "Mhm! Perfect! Good!" "Well if you were good..you would've eaten your food by now" Y/N stopped her movements, looking at the untouched food that was on her plate, making her nervously laugh. "Y/N you have not been yourself lately, you look more tired than usual-" Kiara stopped her words, looking closely at her best friend and caught on quickly. Kie smirked, pulling out her phone and made eye contact with Rafe. They made conversation with their eyes, and turns out Rafe already caught on with the weird behavior given by Y/N. Kiara texted Rafe.
Kie : 'You thinking what I'm thinking?'
Rafe : 'On it'
Kie smirked, looking at Y/N who was giving her the confused face. "What?" Kiara chuckled, leaning back continuing to eat her pasta. Y/N soon felt her phone vibrate, taking it out she saw Rafe's contact. She opened the message.
Rafe : 'Follow me'
Y/N sat up, taking a deep breath before locking eyes with Rafe who was in front of her. He nudged his head to the door, making her nod quickly before getting up. "Hey I'm not feeling too well I'm just going to go home." Y/N said to Toby, smiling. "Ok..you alright? Want me to drop you off?" Toby offered about to stand up. "I was about to leave anyway, have a meeting with my dad tomorrow morning want me to drop you off?" Rafe said. "Yeah that'll be great, I know you've wanted to hang out with everyone for a while Toby stay." Y/n smiled at him. "You sure babe? I don't mind leaving." "No it's fine stay, I'll see you at home okay?" Y/n smiled he nodded sitting back down in his seat. Waving goodbye to everyone Rafe and Y/N took made their way out the door leaving immediately, making Kie smirk and shake her head before turning her attention to Topper and JJ.
The two hopped in Rafe's car before driving off away from the restaurant. "You ok? You haven't been yourself today at all" Rafe's voice filled the silent vehicle, glancing at Y/N before turning his attention back on the road. Y/N sighed, seeing the trees through the windshield. "I'm fine just - aggravated" "Don't lie..come on, you can tell me" Rafe said right after, already knowing what the problem is. Y/N huffed, raising her eyebrow. "..I'm sex deprived" Rafe hummed, smirking. "And how's that? Toby not giving you what you want?" "Hell no! Do you know how small is dick is? It takes me up to an hour to even get on with my first high! My fingers could save up at least more than half of that time!" Rafe laughed, at Y/N's answer.
"Poor thing" "and the worst part..he finishes after 10 minutes. 10 minutes Rafe!" Rafe's eyes widened, looking at Y/N. "..He doesn't even make me come" "well damn" Rafe laughed at the shocking statement, shaking his head. "I even tried to have sex with him more often - just thinking it was just us..but no, no Rafe. He's just not as sexual as I thought he was" they were halfway to the house, knowing exactly what Y/N needed. And Rafe was willing to give it to her.
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that. Have you found a solution?" Rafe asked, looking at her as they slowed down to a spotlight. "Well, no..I'm tired of toys, they don't really help with that" Rafe stopped at the light, looking at her dead in her eyes.
Y/N stared at him, confused on the staring contest. But she saw, his eyes turning dark, it just screams sex. Y/N had a thing for Rafe, especially his dick. She just knows it'll fulfill all her desires and would even fulfill desires she didn't even know she had. And she now knows Rafe wants to help her out. "Oh.." Y/N realized, getting hooked into his stare. "I'll help you, I know you need it" Rafe's hand travelled to her thigh, rubbing all the right places making Y/N's goosebumps rise under his touch, loving the way his hand moved all over her thighs. "I've seen you look at me the way you do baby, you want my dick don't you" Rafe landed a slap on her thigh, causing Y/N to jolt in shock, but also loving the way Rafe was already handling her.
Something Toby couldn't even do.
"I-" Y/N moaned out of nowhere, now realizing that they were now driving and Rafe's hand was rubbing her clothed pussy. Feeling his hands and the silky frantic right where she wanted them to be, she moaned freely, spreading her legs to let Rafe's fingers do their thing. "Fuck..Rafe" "you catch on quick huh" Rafe's fingers rolled in a circle faster, making Y/N's hips move in a way she didn't even think they could move. They moved with Rafe's hand, pleasure riding her body. "Yes, yes fuck - faster. Faster please" Rafe followed her wish, spanking it from time to time and roughly rubbing her clit through her panties.
"Ooh fuck yes yes yes yes - how do you do this" "only for you baby" that did something to Y/N, that definitely did something. Because she was close already. "Wait - wait stop. Fuck. Why am I close already" "ooh my baby's needy isn't she, she's needy isn't she? The boyfriend couldn't give her what she wants huh? He couldn't give it to you like I could hm" Y/N loved every moment of this, she wish she would've thought of this sooner. "I-I'm gonna..fuck" Rafe took his hand away, leaving Y/N to close her legs tightly at the denied orgasm. Rafe pulled into the garage, parking in his designated parking spot before turning off the car and closing the garage.
"I don't wanna come all over your car..but I'm gonna have to" Rafe smiled, spreading her legs snd slipped 2 fingers in her panties and into her hot clenching pussy, just begging for a long time release. Rafe showed no mercy and fingered her like his life depended on it, hearing her moans fill up the car as she started to spread her legs wider and slide down the seat.
"Fuuck oh my god I'm getting close, I'm getting close Rafe shit! Im gonna come!" "Come for me baby" Y/N held onto Rafe's arm full of tattoo's and came all over his hand, squirming at the nice release as he continued to finger her. "Ooh good girl, that's a good girl let it out there you go" Y/N didn't want his fingers to stop fucking her, but he slowly took them out, seeing them covered in slick and come.
Rafe chuckled, licking them off clean. "Guess I got some work to do" Rafe whispered, getting out the car and Y/N quickly followed the movement. But getting picked up by Rafe from the knees, spanking her ass before getting in the house and into his room. Oh they're gonna have a night.
Y/n's Pov
"Ooh fuck just like that, just like that - daddy fuck" Rafe smirked, looking up at me with those doe eyes of his, while his mouth worked skillfully and sinfully on my pussy, ready for me to come on his face. I have never been eaten out like this before, it's like he has powers on him. I think he's experienced. But one way or another he's doing a lot of justice, this is what I needed. This is more than what I needed. "Shit, I'm gonna come again, I'm gonna come again" "come for daddy baby, be daddy's bitch and come for me" that name does something to me, I came all over his face, feeling him vibrate on me, sucking all the come out of me. "Good girl, you came twice for me"
"No, that was too good..are you experienced?" "Nope" "what-" he kissed me, interrupting my sentence grinding his hard dick against the aching pussy that was still begging for more. "Feel that?" Rafe whispered in my ear, feeling him grinding more on my pussy making me hiss at the hard on. "Go ahead, put it in..so I could fuck the shit out of you" I immediately followed orders, putting his cock which caused my eyes to widen at how big he was. "Oh my god, Rafe. You're so big. Your too big-" Rafe shoved all of it in, making me grope the sheets below me at how big he was inside.
"Rafe! Oh my god, fuck, wait hold on. Don't move" Rafe smirked down at me, sitting up as he pushed my knees to my chest and held onto my ankles. "Rafe don't you dare move, I'm not-" Rafe snapped his hips into me, making me scream in shock and pleasure. "Rafe I told you to wait" "and I don't give a fuck" Rafe fucked me senseless, snapping his hips and each thrust was powerful and powerful each time which got me over the edge and to moaning like crazy. "Yesss fucking fuck me, fuck me like that..yes. Fuck" I whined, my mouth hung open with nothing to come out because of how hard he was fucking me.
"Yea you like that? You like that shit fucking bitch, my deprived little slut yes you are. Taking me so good" he did some powerful thrusts before taking it out and smacking my thigh. "All fours facing the mirror" I gulped the lump in my throat, going on all fours and faced my messy looking self. I saw he got behind me, pushing my face down and grabbed a handful of my hair. "So, like this?" He fucked me from behind, making me choke out a moan at the surprise. "Oh oh oh ah ah - shit! FuUCK! FUCK, RIGHT THERE!" "Oh yea? Right here?" He abused my prostrate, leaving me with no sounds nor words.
He's fucking me too good.
"Daddy I'm gonna come, make me come please" he yanked my head up by my hair, stopping his pace as he rolled his hips against my ass, making me feel his dick throb inside me. "Look in that fucking mirror, and you're gonna come for me like a good slut you understand?" "Yes" he slapped my ass with his other hand, making me moan. "Yes what?" "Yes daddy" he fucked me again and this time his pace quickened by the second, and I couldn't hold off anymore. I squirted, everywhere hearing him chuckle as he looked at me through the mirror with his lustful eyes.
"Good girl, that's my slut huh" he continued to fuck me, letting go of my hair and into my hips to fuck me with a good grip. "Wait..wait daddy-" "shut up. Oh fuck" he fucked me harder, hearing my moans increase, also hearing my mumbles that I whined out to him. "Please - fuck! It feels so good!" I cried out, his moans turning me on even more. "Shit, suck the come out of me" Rafe pulled it out, letting me turn around and put the cock in my mouth, immediately taking him all the way in. "Ooh fuck, yea, I'm gonna come. Just like that don't fucking move" he kept my head to the base, and soon felt his load shoot in me. Rafe whimpered, feeling me still suck him and suck all the come out of him before taking it out and stroking It with my hand.
He laid against the headboard, pulling me with him as I straddled his waist. "You ok?" I hummed, nodding as I kissed him gently. "Mmh, you're so pretty" Rafe whispered, kissing my neck and shoulder, making me whimper at the gestures. "Rafe, we gotta stop" "why?" I sighed, sitting up as I ran my hands through the sweaty and messy hair. "We've been going at it for 2 hours believe it or not, I came 4 times - yes including the one in the car - and I can't do this to Toby!" "Hey hey hey, calm down. Who says we have to tell anyone?" He brought me back down with him, doing light kisses on my neck again.
"I'll be your fuckboy for a lil bit" he whispered in my ear, kissing it and going back to my neck and jaw. My eyes widened at the words, stunned. "You..serious?" "Yea, until you have the damn courage to tell him that you don't wanna be with him anymore" I stuttered, looking at him and he mocked me, doing the same thing. "You don't want him, forget about it" I huffed, knowing he's right. "I'll give you what you want, I promise" he said, smirking before smacking his dick in my lower back. "One more, just one more please?" I sighed before getting on the dick and moaned my way down until I took him all in.
"There you go good girl, ride that dick like a slut yea? Fucking ride it baby" I moved my hips, bouncing up and down at times as my moans filled the room once again, but his groans and under breath curses mixed with it. He's just so hot, it makes no sense. And the way he just orders me around..I don't think I'm gonna last long just by thinking those thoughts. "Mmph! Rafe.." "My girl's gonna come again? What you wanna do?" I rolled my hips slowly, catching my breath.
"Eat me out..please?" He smirked flipping us over "Such a pretty fuckin' pussy." wrapping my legs around his head and he sucked the shit out of me. "Ooh god, fuck, wait" he insert fingers in me, the wet juicy noises coming from my pussy which made my moans become even louder. "Ooh yea wanna come for me? You wanna come for daddy I want you to come for me like the dirty slut I know you are. Like that shit huh? You like that dirty shit bitch?" My legs were basically shaking, the dirty words turned me on so much I was over the edge.
He went down and sucked me harder, fingering me and I couldn't take it anymore. I squirted..for the second time and he chuckled, sucking it all up once again. "Good girl, that's my good girl"
He sat up, hearing my heavy breathing at the intense orgasm. "So uh..you wanna make me come too?" I rolled my eyes, smiling as I began to stroke him, going fast pace as I saw his eyes flutter shut tight. "Fucking shit - I'm gonna come-" I took my hand away, making his eyes widened and he chuckled, knowing what I was doing. "No no..we not doin that edging shit get your ass over here" I chuckled, stroking him again and his low moans got a little louder and impatient. "Fuck im coming, im coming..shit" he came all over my hand, his knees almost giving up and I continued to stroke for a little before taking my hand away.
I stood on my knees, licking the come off my hand in front of his face which made him smirk. "Why is that so hot" we laughed, licking my hand off clean before kissing him, wrapping my arms around his neck as he wrapped his arms around my thighs, picking me up. "I give it a week..you better break up with that piece of shit" "we'll see" I whispered, kissing him gently.
PART FOUR
Will opened the door to Gabby and Frankie’s van to see them both sleeping in the drivers’ seat, stretched out on the passenger side, all arms, and legs. Her face buried in his neck and holding hands
“If I didn’t know any better” he said to Benny under his breath.
“Do we know any better?”
Santiago walked towards the van from the other direction, seeing everything through the windshield. He snuck his arm through the small gap of the open window and pressed the horn for maybe a little longer than he should have.
Frankie and Gabby jumped out of their skin before a stream of swear word run out of Frankie’s mouth in Spanish.
Gabby rested her head back on to Frankie’s shoulder looking up at Santiago through the window
“There are nicer ways to wake me up, Garcia”
Frankie tried not to laugh to the way she always had to be like a bull running towards a red flag.
She couldn’t help herself.
“We’re already late” Santiago yelled back at them before getting back in his van.
As much as she wanted to a huge cup of coffee, she refused to drink instant. It amused her that she couldn’t get a good cup of coffee when they were carting around so much of it right now.
Gabby moved off Frankie and hopped into the passenger seat
“Can I drive?”
“Nope. We’re driving through Peru. It might get a bit hairy”
“Fine”
“But I love you”
“Yea, love you too”
“You nervous to see Seb?”
“Never nervous to see him”
She was worried about the danger that could be bring with her. Not that she was going to mention that to Frankie.
#
Sitting by a fire somewhere in Peru she could be forgiven for forgetting their situation. They were all laughing and joking like there wasn’t some scary guy hot on their trail. Gabby liked it
She must like it.
It wasn’t like she hadn’t come up against people like Costa Rojas before.
The warlords in Africa that threatened her for even being in the area. The dirtbags in Kosovo.
She stood her ground then and goddamn it she was going to get her guys out of this now.
Maybe it was her ego speaking but Costa Rojas didn’t know who he was dealing with. She didn’t carry weapons and act like human life didn’t matter but Gabby also didn’t back down. She didn’t know how. Her pride got in the way.
She noticed how Will was looking at Frankie and Gabby curiously. She knew the question that was rolling around in his head. Gabby could answer it for him without being asked but where was the fun in that?
“Can I drive tomorrow?”
“Nope” Frankie answered quickly
“I need to do something. I’m going crazy”
“Yeah but you’re a terrible driver” Frankie laughed
“I am not”
“What happened to that jeep  in Sudan”
“Okay, that’s unfair”
“You hit the only tree in the desert”
“I was out running rebels with a weeks’ worth of rice and clean water in the back”
“What about Sarajevo?”
“A building blew up in front of me. Yes, I was a little distracted”
“You rolled the car”
“Your point?” she laughed
“You’re not driving”
“You must know everyone” Benny told her
“No. I’ve just been lots of places. The humanitarian world  is smaller than you  would think. Everybody knows everybody. I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s not easy by any means. You see the worst of humanity but you also see the best”
“What about this Sebastian guy?” Will teased
“You’re sounding protective”
“Little bit”
“Seb’s one of the good ones. He’s been doing this aid thing for a long time. I learnt a lot from him. He has a big heart. He’d help anybody, clearly” she chuckled bitterly “When you’re on the job. You see things, you get close quickly and you need comfort sometimes. He always protected me”
“Date anybody else on the job?”
Frankie and Gabby exchanged looks. Gabby  looked back at the brothers frowned playfully at him
“Yes, Benjamin?”
“I have to ask”
“Ok”
“You and Frankie?”
“Yeah?”
“Seriously, what’s going on there?”
She understood and it wasn’t the first time they had been asked . They weren’t two people that understood or believed in personal space when they were together. They weren’t people that realised when they were in each other’s space, it just kind of happened.
All she did was smile. Gabby looked back at Frankie and looked back at Benny
“Isn’t it more fun if you don’t know for sure?”
Both Gabby and Frankie laughed because they were the only ones that would ever know the truth.
They just smiled.
“So are you guys going to rock out once we get this money to where we are going?” she teased and changed the subject
“Are you going to Australia, Pope?” Benny teased
“Anything is possible”
“Friends with benefits” Will sung out
“I would have thought Aussie’s would have been too easy going for you, Garcia”
“She’s South American”
“He got her into Australia after our last time out” Benny told her, not know what he was about to unleash
Gabby frowned and looked over at Frankie, who did know what was about to happen.
“Baby” he soothed
“Wait, the last time? The shit show? That was to get your little girlfriend out of trouble?”
“She gave us the information we needed”
“You get all your information from pillow talk” she chuckled bitterly “That explains so much”
“Hang on, Toots”
“Toots?”
“Before we talk about favours in between the sheets. Maybe we should talk about Sebastian”
“Don’t”
“You think he’s doing this out of the kindness of his heart?”
“I don’t want him to have anything to do this. You forced my hand, just like you forced Frankie to call me. You’re the puppet master, Santiago”
“Poetic”
“And what if I say no to using Sebastian. What if I pull the pin? What if I take the guys and leave you here with the cargo. All tied up in a bow for Rojas?”
Santiago smiled at her. He was actually impressed. They had always fought but she had never threated him before. Not seriously at least
“You won’t” he chuckled “You’re a bleeding heart, Gabriela. You’re a nurturer. You wouldn’t leave someone behind. Even if they burn you from the inside out”
“Ugh” she uttered before walking past him and kept on walking
“Gab” Frankie called out
“I’m fine, Frank”
They all watched her walk away. Santiago just smirked before Benny stood up and followed her.
Will shook his head as Santiago sat back down
“You’re an arse, man”
“I know”
Frankie ignored the both of them watching Benny chase after her.
He found her sitting on a rock, in the peace and quiet. He hadn’t really thought about it, but it must have been nosy being around four men every hour of the day. The only quiet and still person was ironically Pope.
There was a fine line between annoyance and attraction and they were starting to see it. As much as they kidded around about Fish and Gabby.
Things were becoming a little clearer.
He walked up to her and she had no idea he was there. A twig snapped under his boot and before he could blink, she had a switchblade out of her pocket and pointed at him.
“How did you get that through customs?”
“Brought it once I got here”
He sat down beside her and she could feel a pep talking coming.
“You gotta stop letting him get it you”
“I swear I try, Benny. He gets under my skin. He’s like a damn tick”
“It’s just cos we’re all in close quarters. Give it some time”
“You guys could have died. You should have died. Do you have any idea how lucky you all were to make it home”
“Are you saying you like us. Just a little?” he teased “You want us to stick around. You love us”
She actually laughed out loud and shook her head
“Yeah, you’re alright. I guess”
“We love you too” he hopped up off the rock “Don’t stay over here long. We’ll send a search party”
He walked back to the campfire and walked past Pope
“She’s armed by the way. She may kill you in your sleep”
He sat back down next to his brother and they fell into comfortable silence. They didn’t even say anything when Gabby eventually made her way back to the camp.
