its really funny how america and europe and the west generally only ever realizes women have rights when they want to speak badly abt the middle east
they'll declare a genocide and their reasoning? "military bases and money uhm muslim men hit their wives!!! unlike OUR men who drink women respector juice everyday and have never been recorded to be misogynistic Ever. Dont ask us what a woman is OR what our greatest minds said abt women just 50 years prior <3"
#atleast islam set men and women as equal human beings 1400 years ago. and what was america and europe doing 1400 years ago#this seriously annoys me like men are NEVER misogynistic in your countries?? just the pop culture movies are bad enough fr who are you#kidding.#theyll cite a hadith that has 0 legitimacy or a quran verse that does Not mean what they think it is because arabic is. very complex eng#translations never do them justice#and#realistically#no one IRL will be like 'aww man i really wanted to respect women but im muslim so now i gotta disrespect them' like wtf youre overestimati#how highly the average religious person holds religion. theres not that much difference between Humanity its just what each person#believes in and how much of self discpline each person has#my point. islam isnt misogynistic arabs arent misogynistic the entire world sucks and youll find the richest most educated man hits his wif#just as a dude in some no internet village in the middle of the forest/desert/ice does. and that means Shitty people will Always be Shitty#you cant say religion is misogynistic for marriage or whatever because... as opposed to the liberation of casual sex?? i dont get it. as a#human you actually should respect yourself and your autonomy#and some things although will feel bad or not comfortable WILL be the best things for you#because some things that feel great and awesome are really horrible for you. humans are a bit stupid and our hearts dont always pick the#best possible option for a good life and future

Katie- I'm gonna be blunt here. I feel as though you're constantly seeking approval from your readers, and while it's understandable, it makes you seem extremely desperate and a little annoying.
You say you often feel your writing is horrible and you've done something wrong because you get no feedback... but though likes and reblogs only do so much and are vague, they are still a huge reflection of the quality of the writing?? People don't just like and reblog posts randomly. The fact that you've received 1000+ notes on a fis is technically feedback in itself- you're doing great, people like your writing.
Unfortunately, I do think you expect a little too much from your readers. At the end of the day, we are simply people who want to take a break and have some fun by reading about our faves. We shouldn’t have to constantly validate you because, well, it’s not really our responsibility. I know you mentioned that it’s not necessary and all, but with the way you’re constantly posting about wanting feedback and feeling insecure, it almost feels required to do so. (Again, I know it’s not your intention, this is just an observation.)
And about you feeling like a machine whose only job is to write. That hits really deep, and I completely get what you’re saying. You’re human, after all. But again, the fact that you get so many requests should be a clear indicator that your writing is divine, and people trust you to make their scenarios come true which is why you get so many requests. I can guarantee that no one wants to make you feel like a machine of writing, but… you are a writing blog?? It’s only natural that people will send in copious amounts of requests as this is your speciality?? This may sound a bit harsh, but to a majority of people, you are just a writer on tumblr. We are not close friends, we don’t have real, connecting relationships, and it’s hard for everyone to see you as more than a favourite writer on tumblr. After all, how can we if we don’t see you in personal, we don’t actually verbally talk, etc, etc?? I think creating too many parasocial relationships on this platform is making you a bit too dependent on your followers.
Your writing is really awesome and fun, and you definitely are one of the backbones of the hotch fanfics girlies community. And of course you deserve to feel loved, validated, and secure. But tumblr is just, not the place for that.
i get what you're saying and i appreciate it, but can i respectfully agree to disagree?
i'm human, you're right. i'm a human who pours her heart and soul into her writing and it's nice to receive feedback every once in a while. but i don't think i ask for too much? i always say it's not necessary, and when i do ask here and there for feedback, it's at anyone who is willing and comfortable to share. if someone isn't, that's fine. more than fine. more so, i ask as a way to hopefully allow someone to come forward if they're comfortable, like maybe i'm opening a door to start conversation. that's all. i'm sorry if you find that annoying, that is not my intention. and also, i don’t appreciate you calling me a human, and then taking it back altogether? yes i am a writing blog, but that is not the only thing i am.

Mending clothes is great, but what if you can avoid it by taking care of them?
I have been reading a lot of posts on this site about mending clothes and that is great and awesome. I also agree that you should avoid fast fashion retailers if you can find the things you want elsewhere at a price you can still afford.
But being an old lady, I have clothes that I've owned for 20 years. Or more. And they're fine, and most of them haven't required any mending. I have blouses from Forever 21 that I bought in 2012 (I know this because I bought them when Erin was living with me, before I met her I never even went in there lol). And they're fine. The fabric doesn't always look exactly the same--sometimes it developd a softer feel and a vintagey slightly weathered look but I actually really like that.
I have two blouses from Shein--one that I just saw and liked, the other because I had to find a dark green lolitable blouse in a hurry--and I'm confident I'll still have them in 10 years. (I own very little from Shein, their labour practises are probably horrible and I try to avoid wearing dupes that may have stolen art on them, but basically they are just another taobao reseller.)
Here are some tips for keeping your clothes alive without mending. Mending is awesome and visible mends on jeans and jackets are the bomb, but maybe you don't want randomly placed colourful embroidery on your white victorian style blouse--you just want to avoid getting it torn in the first place.
The tumble dryer is generally not your friend. Particularly not used with blasting hot air. I don't own one, though I will go to a laundromat to use one if I am washing something bulky and thick that might mildew before it gets dry, like a comforter. But even with jeans--they may be a little stiff when you first put them on after air drying, but the tumble dryer enlarges stretchy jeans by killing the elastic in them and shrinks non-stretchy jeans. It also sets stains if your first wash didn't get them out and you throw your clothes in without looking.
I use a Haier portable washing machine without an agitator for things I do not wash by hand. (I do not wash heavy cotton lolita dresses with skirts that are wider than I am tall by hand. I do not wash jeans by hand.) That's the tall thing in the middle. Agitators damage clothes over time. They are good for getting out dirt sometimes, but even better for getting out dirt is not over-filling the washer, so that all the soap/detergent and water goes through all of the fabric.
Shout colour catcher. Always use one if there are any bright or dark colours in your laundry load. It prevents dye from these clothes from getting into your light coloured clothes.
Wash blouses and lingerie by hand if you can.
If your clothes do not smell, are not stained, and you haven't spilled anything like citrus on them that will come back to haunt you later, air them out, don't wash them yet.
If you get a stain or citrus on your clothes, spot clean immediately if you can and take them off, soak them, and then wash them out by hand ASAP. Don't put anything stained in the dryer if you can avoid it.
Pit smell bad on something you wore too long in the hot sun or working a convention dealers room? Gorgeous clothes in a thrift store with pit smell? Laughed too hard or had an asthma attack and there's pee in your underwear? Work in a hospital? Have a baby to care for? This is why you should have Nature's Miracle Just for Cats! whether or not you own cats. This wonderful product is designed to remove the very strong smell of cat piss from things with enzymes without damaging them. It works equally well on removing smells that were made by humans.
Menstrual blood comes out best in very cold water. Hydrogen peroxide will remove blood, and other organic stains, but it also removes dye.
Always hand wash blood stains or other organic stains.
Cold water washing is easier on the environment but it's also easier on your clothes. It won't set stains. Heat sets stains.
Rather than ironing delicate clothing, remove it at once from the washer and block it out when you hang it up to dry. I use clothes pins on clothes hangers to keep the shoulder seam flush to the hanger so that clothes do not dry out of shape.
If you have a sweater or other heavy item that you don't want to stretch out, in addition to making sure the shoulders are right on the hanger, also attach another hanger to the ends of the sleeves and the hem. "Lay flat to dry" can be a bad choice with thick clothes as mildew is a thing.
Tea stains come out with vinegar but you have to get them right away.
The only stain removing products worth shit are oxi-clean but uh, be careful with bright colours.
If you have a large bust and like button up shirts, sew the placket closed at the widest part of your bust. Gapping in buttoned shirts when you move is caused by the uneven tension between the area around the button and the rest of your shirt. You do not need to be able to open the buttons at the largest part of the item. You can do this by hand by sewing the button in place through the closed button hole and then, since the placket will have multiple layers of fabric, sew the edge of the placket but don't go through the top layer of fabric so it can't be seen.

Went to see Across the Spiderverse so I can fiiinally join in the hype hahahaha.
It was fantastic. The whole time I kept thinking how much I wished there had been a movie like this when I was a teen. I loved it as an adult, but as a teen I'd have been like next level obsessed.
Spoilers in between general squee
So Miles Morales is officially the coolest Spiderman. Well, at least he has the coolest movies, haha. Take your pick what Spiderman you like but seriously, I can't get over how this movie is conceptualized. Of course I felt the same with the first one, but this one lit up even further. It's artistic, it's musical, it's action-packed, it's comedic, it's full of heart, and somehow it balances all of that - never seeming too sentimental or too callous or too rushed or too cliche. It could have been any of those things, but instead of running from it, the movie embraces weakness and takes advantage of it. Heck, the core concept of the movie - that there's a "canon," a destiny, which must be fulfilled - could be a metaphor for how a story doesn't feel cliche no matter how many times it's been told if the characters have individuality and agency of their own.
The whole thing was good but the art and music, THE ART AND MUSIC. As for the art, it's so creative, such an innovative marriage of comic book style and computer animation. It doesn't say "This is too much, we won't be believable." Because it's not afraid of itself, neither is the audience. I think what makes it great is that it's got a clear idea tying all the different styles together, that idea being that this is a celebration of art styles throughout the decades, the same way the story is a celebration of our shared human experience.
The music is very Now. It's interesting and fits really well with each character and each scene. When Hobie appeared and it got all awesomely punk rock I could barely resist banging my head hahaha.
Also Hobie is THE BEST. From his character design to his personality to his role in the story, he's just so, so memorable and cool. He's got a small role, but he takes full advantage of it.
Loved Pavitr too, adorable, charming, annoying sweetheart. Really hope we haven't seen the last of him. "This is your daughter who I do not know" x'DDD My one complaint about this movie: I wanted more of Hobie of Pavitr so badly!!
Also Jess!! Pregnant, riding a motobike, and fighting evil. This movie pulled zero punches.
My favorite was Gwen. Gwen was everything. I was so super into her. Anecdote time: When I was growing up, I loved action and adventure stories. My favorite characters and ships almost exclusively involved boys and not girls. I felt bad because I wasn't supporting female characters - but I couldn't help that I didn't like them, or at least not as much as the boys. And I hated any time it seemed someone treated me like a "fan girl" who's just "in it for cute boys." But here's the thing. I did like female characters... in shows made for girls. Like Sailor Moon, CardCaptor Sakura, Utena - in all those shows my favorites were girls, and my ships were het or FxF. But the shows for girls weren't as popular as the shows for boys, because girls would watch both but boys mainly wouldn't. So the boy shows had bigger fandoms and more content and lasted longer.
What I'm trying in a roundabout way to get at is: Gwen Stacy is the proof that I, and many other unfairly labeled "fan girl" types, were really just desperate for great female characters in action shows that were popular with boys too. Your choices back then were: the love interest who is mainly a cheerleader, the love interest who does have some cool skills but never as cool as the boys, the love interest who is really cool and interesting but the story is only told from the boy's perspective, or the strong independent woman who doesn't need a man (aka a horrible, one-dimensional, token example of a "strong female character"). But Gwen. Gwen is none of that. She's strong, she's vulnerable, she needs help, but she's independent, she's fierce but also soft, and she's so far very much got her own natural, organic role in the story. She's hands down my favorite. And if there had been more female characters like her when I was a kid, I'd have loved them as well. So there. Fuck everyone who says otherwise, lol. And I know that there is a theory that Gwen is trans, and if so I will support it for all the same reasons. Just make characters who are fleshed out and real, whether they are boys or girls or trans or nonbinary. Just make them all like that and we won't have to have silly arguments about it! :P
Anedcote over. So, I love that Gwen got her own mini-movie in the first bit. I love the storm clouds in her relationship with Miles. It's not the usual stuff - I mean it is, but it's done in a way that feels really fresh. Her story almost predicts Miles's, or what Miles's could be. She's already lost a Spiderman, and when her father, a cop just like Miles's, discovers her identity, he isn't supportive. So when she hears that part of her canon as a Spiderman may mean her father dies, she's so heartbroken and depressed that she accepts it must be. When she tells Miles that in every universe a relationship between Gwen and Spiderman ends badly, and he responds something like "Then let's make this the first which doesn't," omg. My heart. I love them so much.
And more on Gwen. When it was clear that she was more or less betraying Miles, "for the greater good," I was a little disappointed at first. I loved her bit in the beginning so much and felt sad that she was then degraded to "girl from the wrong side of the tracks who needs to be saved by the hero." But that doesn't happen! Of course she's inspired by Miles, he's a big part of why she's able to stand up again. But he's not all of it. When Miguel throws her into the machine to send her back to her reality, I was so afraid she was going to cry and plead for another chance. But again, she doesn't. She just fights, and when she can't fight anymore, she says "We're supposed to be the good guys." And when she gets sent back, the thing she most feared, she discovers what can change when you take a risk on a second chance. And I think she realizes that her resignation was really fear. A false sense of control felt safer than accepting that our world is really chaos. That's where Miguel, I assume, is still... interesting to see what will go down with him in the future.
And last, Miles. He's just the perfect hero for this movie. He feels deeply. He's got conviction. I never believed The Spot was his real nemesis, so when it turned out to be his doppelganger in the other reality, I was like, omg so fitting. Yeah, it's overdone, but it doesn't feel like it is! Because it fits so well with what the story is trying to do. Miles was able to resist Miguel's rationale in a way the others couldn't because he has those deep convictions and that raw human hope in the future. But for that same reason, if things go wrong, if he fails when he's staked his whole heart on succeeding, the danger is losing his sense of self and turning into Miles the Prowler. It's such a great analogy for grief and suffering and why we struggle through our hard lives.
Just every moment was good. I kept waiting for one that I'd think well this could have been done better, but it didn't come. Maybe Gwen's dad was a little too quick to be ok with the whole portal jumping thing, lol. I really don't care. Such a fun movie and incredibly well made. I know the music and art made a huge difference for me - one reason why I feel like I could stand to watch it again, when I really haven't bothered to rewatch any other superhero movies. (Except the first Avengers, I think I'd still enjoy that if I watched it again.) It just never got stale and held my interest the whole time. And I gotta say: MilesxGwen 5 ever. Hahaha. Idk what the future holds for them (I mean Margo is also a sweetheart and nothing lasts forever...) but anyway I SHIP IT!!!

I sent you this question about doctor in clinic of Bloodborne. Thanks for the answer! I was very nervous about it but I'm relieved. I've learned a few more things on this issue since yesterday after I did a post and someone also answered. There was evidence that, and doctor also, was Vileblood, what sounded very curiously. I'm now convinced on this theory too, at the same time I don't believe she was pregnant anymore. I forgot to say this in a previous ask that I thought that she described writhing and Oedon Writhe. But I am not confident anymore .Bloodborne has many horrible things happen with women, like just you wrote. Looks like because every Great One loses its child and years for surrogate, they use human bodies like factory. I understood your mind that another female character can just have more autonomy without being removed from this, at the same time I understood some fans just think that because false doctor can be Vileblood, it makes Oedon assault her too. I noticed that some people fuel even more horror to a story when it's already the most dark thing that isn't limited to be against women. It is such awesome idea to uplift the doctor instead of damning her too, like everyone else. We always notice that no one can have a happy ending, but we can change it with how we choose to interpret the story. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. I'd like to make a separate post on this that comes from different angle than saying someone is misogynistic, but I'm not even too familiar with using English language yet. There is no way to come to a complete agreement with sides, because different people want different things to write. So I think that some people here not hold ill intention to make one more female character reduced to just surrogated mother, but they want even more horror. Everything else in the post that you wrote was easy to understand and I had no more questions! Looks like everyone agrees that nobody wants to be evil and simply thought of what is better for the story and I love to see this in the fandom.
Yeah i definitely understand what you mean! In the end, bloodborne and fromsoft in general are games about coming to your own conclusions and thats part of what's so great about them. I think we can be mindful of what we theorize could mean in a narrative context while still being able to form our own takes on the lore. Also yeah agreed on the "vileblood"/cainhurst thing, without getting too much into it right now because this isnt my theory post LOL but i definitely think their relation to it added to their role and storyline in regards to oedon, it's really interesting to think about. I feel like i should clarify i dont necessarily want to accuse people of being outright misogynistic when theyre making that sort of theories! We all can unwillingly participate in misogyny that way without wanting to, because so much of it is internalized, and im not immune from that happening/having happened to me as well
Also your english is great !! Thank you for taking the time to write this and talk about it with me i really appreciate that :)

ive seen a lot of speculation by aesthetics commentators (a strange existence to acknowledge) about why some zillennial gays seem to connect a lot with natural imagery despite the ~*cottagecore aesthetic*~ being increasingly associated with white cishet (& frequently xtian) traditionalism. many many possible explanations are acknowledged but theres parts of it that mean a lot to me but which i rarely see acknowledged
first of all, being gay/lgbt/queer is really beautiful and natural. and there are a lot of forces in society that seem to want to stomp out all the beautiful and natural things in this world for the sake of short term profit or power. this is the case at least in the US, but likely in other places as well.
i think there are a lot of other groups (nonwhite and non-traditionalist and non-white-traditionalist) that also connect with the idea that nature and natural things are worthwhile, even when they are not considered worthwhile to the white/cishet/evangelical/colonial/etc powers that be.
i feel this especially in this time when a lot of technofuturistic developments are being backed by famous self-serving billionaires and other various navelgazing silicon valley plutocrats that are still following the “move fast and break things” ethos, even as they move quickly onto breaking things in the human brain, in infrastructure, in politics, in labor, in housing and feeding people, in the ecosystem and so on.
furthermore, i think a lot of lgbt+ people long for privacy in a way that the always-on social media panopticon we live in straight up doesn’t allow. basically ever since tiktok came on the scene, there seemed to be a surge in gay interest in times when you could just disappear and live your gay life somewhere entirely else, without having to deal with everybody you once knew messaging you about your new pronouns or partner or whatever. yeah, those vague “old times” fucking sucked in a lot of other ways (i would not actually want to hack it as a cowboy i would be shot to death by some zachary taylor type for riding my horse while brown or id die of heat exhaustion or getting kicked in the head or some shit. also reading about the 1800s is depressing in a billion colonialist ways) despite all that, it feels like there is nowhere to run now. there is no “other place” to escape to, because numerous forces are trying to make all places into one big horrible homogenous place. speaking only technologically, people will film you for looking weird in public and post it thoughtlessly. people will dox you BECAUSE it’s dangerous to your life and livelihood. our technological present is not a great situation for lgbt ppl, queer ppl, gnc ppl, and people who otherwise awesomely and naturally differ from the ridiculously numerous and specific expected societal “norms”.
sometimes i want to live in a cave and only be seen by spiders and mosquitoes for the rest of my life. this would likely be both unbearably slow and unbearably laborious living, but at least i would not be at risk of being put in danger for being seen in public. this is not a statement of traditional or colonial values or actual intent to stake a claim on a cave somewhere. it is just tough to be gay and trans and fat and neurodivergent and visibly nonwhite while living in the panopticon. and i have to come up with an escape fantasy besides dignified death to write in my little journal about.
there are so many reasons for people who are not libertarians or fundies or tradwife girlies to long to stop and smell the roses one last time before they’re gone. and you feel it so much more when you are part of a beautiful and natural community (or multiple beautiful and natural communities) that fundies and traditionalists and racists and the other assholes of the world really really want to wipe out, which happens to include gays.
obviously (i hope obviously) this all applies to so much more than just hs gays. i just keep seeing it treated as a mystery that lgbt+ ppl are interested in natural and “cottagecore”/“grandmacore” imagery. even tho there were tons of gays and poc and disabled eco-punks and DIY advice-givers and trans mlm cowboy kids and whatever else in the space that would eventually become the cottagecore space on tumblr in the 2010s before that controversial name ever came about.

1 through 5, and also 18 please☺️ hope you are having an awesome week💕
Veeeeeee hello hello!! i hope you're having a great week as well :] 💜
1.) chipotle order?
i live in a chipotle dead zone, unfortunately 🙃 but in college i used to get a bowl with sofritas!!
2.) thoughts on veganism?
ALRIGHT short version: it's a complicated thing, and i think it should be examined through more lenses than just "animal products bad," but ultimately, diets like that are a personal choice a person could be making for a variety of reasons. honestly just read Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer, because that's where most of my ideas about it have come from anyway~
longer version:
ok i actually have really complicated feelings about it, especially because i'm a pescatarian. i'll try and make it simple: i think it's fine and can be a useful thing to do so long as you aren't a jerk about it; furthermore, i think the issue of eating ethically should be taken as less of a black-and-white issue? like there's a social element of eating too that you have to take into account when choosing a special diet (that isn't for health issues, like not eating gluten because you're allergic) - like for me personally, i try not to eat meat (that isn't fish) as much as possible, but if i'm at a friend's house and they or their parents cook a meal with meat in it, i'll eat it because i think the social element (them cooking and sharing food with me) has more value than whatever belief i may hold about the meat consumption. but for some people, the food issue outweighs the social element, and i think that's okay, too, so long as you don't make it the other party's issue, especially if they aren't aware of your diet. does this make sense? idk
also, i think a lot of the time veganism is presented and depicted as being focused solely on the ethics of consuming animal products; there's a lot more room to think with the questions it raises about what we allow ourselves to consume, on a social level (like i mentioned above) and on a human health level? like i think a lot of the time the focus is "it's bad to kill animals for food" and not "the conditions under which most animals are raised in countries like the US for food are both unethical for the animals but also not good for human health or the environment" (something something factory farming bad)
but above all, i do think the human need to eat trumps animal lives. maybe that's mean to say, but if it came down to a family starving or a cow starving,,,,,,i know what i'm choosing. i'd feel horrible about it, but i'd do it (though this example is a gross oversimplification of a much more complicated issue, ofc 🙃). this is all to say i don't like the superiority complex some people have towards others about special diets when it can be really hard to follow them if you're on a tight budget.
3.) a specific color that gives you the ick?
ochre. most shades of yellow, actually. it's just not for me
4.) mythical creature you think/believe is real?
Florida Man™
5.) favorite form of potato?
roasted!!
18.) your boba/tea order?
ooooh i usually get something different every time, but i'll do my favorite order (that i unfortunately cannot get now because it was in my college town 😔): earl grey, no sweetener!!
thanks for the questions Vee!! :] 💜💜💜

Favorite Horror Films of 2022
The Black Phone: This was just an awesome film. Ethan Hawke is terrifying as the Grabber, an enigmatic serial abductor, and murderer. While some were critical of the Grabber not having much of a backstory (I personally think he was abused by his father who played the "naughty boy" game with him), he is the perfect example of stranger danger personified. His masks are creative and are used to represent a certain mood he was feeling at the moment. Though I don't really understand how he freaked out when his mask was almost removed when he first meets Finney he had no mask on.
Besides Hawke, we had some good child actors. Finney's relationship with Gwen is believable and you are actually rooting for Finney to escape.

Next would be Jordan Peele's Nope. To me, Get Out was my favorite, and I have warmed up to his film Us. It is Get Out first then Nope and then Us. Us was by no means a bad film, just felt that it was too boggled down in its themes. But I have grown to appreciate what Peele was trying to do. It had good cinematography and a soundtrack I'd bop to at the club, and acting.
But as for Nope, I liked it. OJ and Em felt like real siblings who, while they have their spats, do care about each other. Kaluya and Keke Palmer did a good job playing the characters as polar opposites.
The theme of how people are willing to do anything for spectacle is so relevant it is hilarious how Logan Paul missed that point when he made that long "review" on the film. It is also true in its assertion that animals should be respected and if mishandled, there will be consequences.
Of course, people have criticized the film for a number of reasons such as how it is a prominent example of hype backlash due to some putting Peele on a high pedestal (when he himself doesn't mind you) or how it was an unconventional alien film than the trailers were initially letting on. Nope is by no means a perfect film, but I really liked 98.5% of the film.
Jordan Peele has done a stellar job creating movie monsters. There was the Armitage family in Get Out then the Tethered from Us. And now we have Jean Jacket from Nope. Jean Jacket is such an awesome kaiju with how it is a living being instead who devours anything that looks at it is such a unique concept especially when it unfurls in the climax of the film.

X and Pearl are part of a planned trilogy by Ti West with a third film being in development. In 1979, a film crew goes to a farm to pitch an adult movie but things go horribly wrong when Pearl and Howard, the elderly couple living on the farm, start killing the crew off one by one.
Howard and Pearl are so scary because, unlike some killers like Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees, they are a human couple who are embittered by having failed to live the lives they wanted and resent the young crew for their sex drive and their freedom from frailties. It is scary because anyone can end up like them whether it be the film crew or you. The film crew, except RJ, are also likable and you are genuinely upset at their gory ends.
Pearl is a great character study where we follow a younger Pearl in 1918 who dreamed to be a famous dancer. However, she had her own psychotic ways to her to where she is an evil clone of Dorothy Gale. While we already know the foregone conclusion that she will not win the spot in the dancing troupe and will stay on the farm forever, one cannot help feeling sorry for her. Mia Goth is an amazing actress who makes a six-minute long raw rant that is spellbinding.

Scream (2022): Loved the kills such as that blade sticking its way into Wes's neck and then somehow peeking from the back.

Review: Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker, PhD
Tumblr media
Book 3 of 2023
Start Reading Time: 3 February 2023
Finish reading Time: 30 March 2023
Page Count: 368 Pages
TRIGGER WARNINGS: DEATH, MEDICAL CONTENT, ANIMAL CRUELTY, CHRONIC ILLNESS, MENTAL ILLNESS
Hey, look! A nonfiction book! The first of the year!! Pretty big thing for me. Can you tell I struggled with this book by how long I spent reading it? It's been a while since I read a non-fiction book, but I hope I'll read more of it this year and it won't take as long.
I picked this book, of course, because I love sleep, but also because my Mom had trouble falling asleep and it negatively impacted her health. We even went to the doctor and she was prescribed some sleeping pills, which helped her sleep, but I don't know if it's good for her in the long run. So, I decided to read more about sleep, as I've never really got to know very much about it, and when you love something you'd make an effort to know more about it, right?
It just so happens that my uncle, my Mom's oldest brother, suffered a heart attack and a stroke earlier this month. When I went to visit him in the hospital he told me he could not get a wink of sleep since before the heart attack. I told him about this book I was reading at the time and gave him some tips to help him fall asleep from this book, and I think he really appreciated it. Now, I would recommend this book to all my loved ones or at least inform them of the importance of sleeping 7-8 hours every night.
I really do think that this needs to be taught in schools, as it is absolutely pivotal for everyone's health and all of our lives and the improvement of our society.
Some of the most fascinating things I learned from this book is about REM and NREM sleep, how and why we dream, how people have different circadian rhythms and that it is genetics, and basically just the amazing impacts on health that a sleep night could give us living beings. Even though I did find some of the parts of the book can be quite boring, it is still a really interesting and important book to read for everybody.
Also, some parts of the book can be quite grim and scary in the parts about the horrible things that come from lack of sleep. I felt personally attacked too, because I don't get 7+ hours of sleep regularly for no good reasons other than Netflix, Youtube, Twitter, and Tiktok exist. Also, sometimes it's because the books I'm reading were just so good that it makes me play this dangerous game of "just one more page" that could magically make 4+ hours of a few chapters feel like 5 minutes.
Overall, it's a great book that provides the readers with so much awesome knowledge about sleep, dreams, and just human health in general that could have greatly impacted the readers' health positively in the long run. Definitely an important read.
Here are my favorite quotes from the book:
"Hard problems care little about what motivates their interrogators; they meter out their lessons of difficulty all the same."
"The prefrontal cortex controls high-level thought and logical reasoning, and helps keep our emotions in check. When a night owl is forced to wake up too early, their prefrontal cortex remains in a disabled, “offline” state. Like a cold engine after an early-morning start, it takes a long time before it warms up to operating temperature, and before that will not function efficiently.
An adult’s owlness or larkness, also known as their chronotype, is strongly determined by genetics. If you are a night owl, it’s likely that one (or both) of your parents is a night owl. Sadly, society treats night owls rather unfairly on two counts. First is the label of being lazy, based on a night owl’s wont to wake up later in the day, due to the fact that they did not fall asleep until the early-morning hours. Others (usually morning larks) will chastise night owls on the erroneous assumption that such preferences are a choice, and if they were not so slovenly, they could easily wake up early. However, night owls are not owls by choice. They are bound to a delayed schedule by unavoidable DNA hardwiring. It is not their conscious fault, but rather their genetic fate.
Second is the engrained, un-level playing field of society’s work scheduling, which is strongly biased toward early start times that punish owls and favor larks.Although the situation is improving, standard employment schedules force owls into an unnatural sleep-wake rhythm. Consequently, job performance of owls as a whole is far less optimal in the mornings, and they are further prevented from expressing their true performance potential in the late afternoon and early evening as standard work hours end prior to its arrival. Most unfortunately, owls are more chronically sleep-deprived, having to wake up with the larks, but not being able to fall asleep until far later in the evening. Owls are thus often forced to burn the proverbial candle at both ends. Greater ill health caused by a lack of sleep therefore befalls owls, including higher rates of depression, anxiety, diabetes, cancer, heart attack, and stroke.
In this regard, a societal change is needed, offering accommodations not dissimilar to those we make for other physically determined differences (e.g., sight impaired). We require more supple work schedules that better adapt to all chronotypes, and not just one in its extreme."
"You can, however, artificially mute the sleep signal of adenosine by using a chemical that makes you feel more alert and awake: caffeine. Caffeine is not a food supplement. Rather, caffeine is the most widely used (and abused) psychoactive stimulant in the world. It is the second most traded commodity on the planet, after oil. The consumption of caffeine represents one of the longest and largest unsupervised drug studies ever conducted on the human race, perhaps rivaled only by alcohol, and it continues to this day."
"Levels of circulating caffeine peak approximately thirty minutes after oral administration. What is problematic, though, is the persistence of caffeine in your system. In pharmacology, we use the term “half-life” when discussing a drug’s efficacy. This simply refers to the length of time it takes for the body to remove 50 percent of a drug’s concentration. Caffeine has an average half-life of five to seven hours. Let’s say that you have a cup of coffee after your evening dinner, around 7:30 p.m. This means that by 1:30 a.m., 50 percent of that caffeine may still be active and circulating throughout your brain tissue. In other words, by 1:30 a.m., you’re only halfway to completing the job of cleansing your brain of the caffeine you drank after dinner.
There’s nothing benign about that 50 percent mark, either. Half a shot of caffeine is still plenty powerful, and much more decomposition work lies ahead throughout the night before caffeine disappears. Sleep will not come easily or be smooth throughout the night as your brain continues its battle against the opposing force of caffeine. Most people do not realize how long it takes to overcome a single dose of caffeine, and therefore fail to make the link between the bad night of sleep we wake from in the morning and the cup of coffee we had ten hours earlier with dinner."
"It is worth pointing out that caffeine is a stimulant drug. Caffeine is also the only addictive substance that we readily give to our children and teens"
"Similar to an unbalanced diet in which you only eat carbohydrates and are left malnourished by the absence of protein, short-changing the brain of either NREM or REM sleep—both of which serve critical, though different, brain and body functions—results in a myriad of physical and mental ill health, as we will see in later chapters. When it comes to sleep, there is no such thing as burning the candle at both ends—or even at one end—and getting away with it."
"Many of the explanations for why we sleep circle around a common, and perhaps erroneous, idea: sleep is the state we must enter in order to fix that which has been upset by wake."
"But what if we turned this argument on its head? What if sleep is so useful—so physiologically beneficial to every aspect of our being—that the real question is: Why did life ever bother to wake up? Considering how biologically damaging the state of wakefulness can often be, that is the true evolutionary puzzle here, not sleep. Adopt this perspective, and we can pose a very different theory: sleep was the first state of life on this planet, and it was from sleep that wakefulness emerged."
"Humans are not sleeping the way nature intended. The number of sleep bouts, the duration of sleep, and when sleep occurs have all been comprehensively distorted by modernity."
"Have you ever wondered about the meaning of the term “midnight”? It of course means the middle of the night, or, more technically, the middle point of the solar cycle. And so it is for the sleep cycle of hunter-gatherer cultures, and presumably all those that came before. Now consider our cultural sleep norms. Midnight is no longer “mid night.” For many of us, midnight is usually the time when we consider checking our email one last time—and we know what often happens in the protracted thereafter. Compounding the problem, we do not then sleep any longer into the morning hours to accommodate these later sleep-onset times. We cannot. Our circadian biology, and the insatiable early-morning demands of a post-industrial way of life, denies us the sleep we vitally need. At one time we went to bed in the hours after dusk and woke up with the chickens. Now many of us are still waking up with the chickens, but dusk is simply the time we are finishing up at the office, with much of the waking night to go. Moreover, few of us enjoy a full afternoon nap, further contributing to our state of sleep bankruptcy."
"Related, the REM-sleep gift of facilitating accurate recognition and comprehension allows us to make more intelligent decisions and actions as a consequence. More specifically, the coolheaded ability to regulate our emotions each day—a key to what we call emotional IQ—depends on getting sufficient REM sleep night after night. (If your mind immediately jumped to particular colleagues, friends, and public figures who lack these traits, you may well wonder about how much sleep, especially late-morning REM-rich sleep, they are getting.)
Second, and more critical, if you multiply these individual benefits within and across groups and tribes, all of which are experiencing an ever-increasing intensity and richness of REM sleep over millennia, we can start to see how this nightly REM-sleep recalibration of our emotional brains could have scaled rapidly and exponentially. From this REM-sleep-enhanced emotional IQ emerged a new and far more sophisticated form of hominid socioecology across vast collectives, one that helped enable the creation of large, emotionally astute, stable, highly bonded, and intensely social communities of humans."
"As this positive feedback loop took hold in exponential fashion, we formed, organized, maintained, and deliberatively shaped ever larger social groups. The rapidly increasing creative abilities could thus be spread more efficiently and rapidly, and even improved by that ever-increasing amount of hominid REM-sleep that enhances emotional and social sophistication. REM-sleep dreaming therefore represents a tenable new contributing factor, among others, that led to our astonishingly rapid evolutionary rise to power, for better and worse—a new (sleep-fueled), globally dominant social superclass."
"To be clear, not all medical problems of aging are attributable to poor sleep. But far more of our age-related physical and mental health ailments are related to sleep impairment than either we, or many doctors, truly realize or treat seriously."
"It was a saddening confirmation of my theory: the parts of our brain that ignite healthy deep sleep at night are the very same areas that degenerate, or atrophy, earliest and most severely as we age."
"I believe we should recognize and treat sleep impairments in the elderly with a similar regard and compassion, recognizing that they do, in fact, need just as much sleep as other adults."
"However, the capacity to forget can, in certain contexts, be as important as the need for remembering, both in day-to-day life (e.g., forgetting last week’s parking spot in preference for today’s) and clinically (e.g., in excising painful, disabling memories, or in extinguishing craving in addiction disorders). Moreover, forgetting is not just beneficial to delete stored information we no longer need. It also lowers the brain resources required for retrieving those memories we want to retain, similar to the ease of finding important documents on a neatly organized, clutter-free desk. In this way, sleep helps you retain everything you need and nothing that you don’t, improving the ease of memory recollection. Said another way, forgetting is the price we pay for remembering."
"Standing in front of the manager, staff, and players, I tell them about one of the most sophisticated, potent, and powerful—not to mention legal—performance enhancers that has real game-winning potential: sleep."
"A final benefit of sleep for memory is arguably the most remarkable of all: creativity. Sleep provides a nighttime theater in which your brain tests out and builds connections between vast stores of information. This task is accomplished using a bizarre algorithm that is biased toward seeking out the most distant, nonobvious associations, rather like a backward Google search. In ways your waking brain would never attempt, the sleeping brain fuses together disparate sets of knowledge that foster impressive problem-solving abilities. If you ponder the type of conscious experience such outlandish memory blending would produce, you may not be surprised to learn that it happens during the dreaming state—REM sleep. ... such informational alchemy conjured by REM-sleep dreaming has led to some of the greatest feats of transformative thinking in the history of the human race."
"No facet of the human body is spared the crippling, noxious harm of sleep loss. We are, as you will see, socially, organizationally, economically, physically, behaviorally, nutritionally, linguistically, cognitively, and emotionally dependent upon sleep."
"After thirty years of intensive research, we can now answer many of the questions posed earlier. The recycle rate of a human being is around sixteen hours. After sixteen hours of being awake, the brain begins to fail. Humans need more than seven hours of sleep each night to maintain cognitive performance. After ten days of just seven hours of sleep, the brain is as dysfunctional as it would be after going without sleep for twenty-four hours. Three full nights of recovery sleep (i.e., more nights than a weekend) are insufficient to restore performance back to normal levels after a week of short sleeping. Finally, the human mind cannot accurately sense how sleep-deprived it is when sleep-deprived."
"There are many things that I hope readers take away from this book. This is one of the most important: if you are drowsy while driving, please, please stop. It is lethal. To carry the burden of another’s death on your shoulders is a terrible thing. Don’t be misled by the many ineffective tactics people will tell you can battle back against drowsiness while driving."
"Insufficient sleep does not, therefore, push the brain into a negative mood state and hold it there. Rather, the under-slept brain swings excessively to both extremes of emotional valence, positive and negative.
You may think that the former counter-balances the latter, thereby neutralizing the problem. Sadly, emotions, and their guiding of optimal decision and actions, do not work this way. Extremity is often dangerous. Depression and extreme negative mood can, for example, infuse an individual with a sense of worthlessness, together with ideas of questioning life’s value. There is now clearer evidence of this concern. Studies of adolescents have identified a link between sleep disruption and suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, and, tragically, suicide completion in the days after. One more reason for society and parents to value plentiful sleep in teens rather than chastise it, especially considering that suicide is the second-leading cause of death in young adults in developed nations after car accidents."
"If you were one of the individuals who were obtaining just five to six hours each night or less, you were 200 to 300 percent more likely to suffer calcification of your coronary arteries over the next five years, relative to those individuals sleeping seven to eight hours. The deficient sleep of those individuals was associated with a closing off of the critical passageways that should otherwise be wide open and feeding the heart with blood, starving it and significantly increasing the risk of a coronary heart attack."
"short sleep (of the type that many adults in first-world countries commonly and routinely report) will increase hunger and appetite, compromise impulse control within the brain, increase food consumption (especially of high-calorie foods), decrease feelings of food satisfaction after eating, and prevent effective weight loss when dieting."
"As the theory predicted, it was the dreaming state of REM sleep—and specific patterns of electrical activity that reflected the drop in stress-related brain chemistry during the dream state—that determined the success of overnight therapy from one individual to the next. It was not, therefore, time per se that healed all wounds, but instead it was time spent in dream sleep that was providing emotional convalescence. To sleep, perchance to heal.
Sleep, and specifically REM sleep, was clearly needed in order for us to heal emotional wounds."
"Using LED devices at night impacts our natural sleep rhythms, the quality of our sleep, and how alert we feel during the day. The societal and public health ramifications, discussed in the penultimate chapter, are not small. I, like many of you, have seen young children using electronic tablets at every opportunity throughout the day . . . and evening. The devices are a wonderful piece of technology. They enrich the lives and education of our youth. But such technology is also enriching their eyes and brains with powerful blue light that has a damaging effect on sleep—the sleep that young, developing brains so desperately need in order to flourish."
"The obvious methods involve reducing caffeine and alcohol intake, removing screen technology from the bedroom, and having a cool bedroom. In addition, patients must (1) establish a regular bedtime and wake-up time, even on weekends, (2) go to bed only when sleepy and avoid sleeping on the couch early/mid-evenings, (3) never lie awake in bed for a significant time period; rather, get out of bed and do something quiet and relaxing until the urge to sleep returns, (4) avoid daytime napping if you are having difficulty sleeping at night, (5) reduce anxiety-provoking thoughts and worries by learning to mentally decelerate before bed, and (6) remove visible clockfaces from view in the bedroom, preventing clock-watching anxiety at night."
"The loud-and-proud corporate mentality of sleeplessness as the model for success is evidentially wrong at every level of analysis we have explored. Sound sleep is clearly sound business. Nevertheless, many companies remain deliberately antisleep in their structured practices. Like flies set in amber, this attitude keeps their businesses in a similarly frozen state of stagnation, lacking in innovation and productivity, and breeding employee unhappiness, dissatisfaction, and ill health."
"It is clear that a tired, under-slept brain is little more than a leaky memory sieve, in no state to receive, absorb, or efficiently retain an education. To persist in this way is to handicap our children with partial amnesia. Forcing youthful brains to become early birds will guarantee that they do not catch the worm, if the worm in question is knowledge or good grades. We are, therefore, creating a generation of disadvantaged children, hamstrung by a privation of sleep. Later school start times are clearly, and literally, the smart choice.
One of the most troubling trends emerging in this area of sleep and brain development concerns low-income families—a trend that has direct relevance to education. Children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are less likely to be taken to school in a car, in part because their parents often have jobs in the service industry demanding work start times at or before six a.m. Such children therefore rely on school buses for transit, and must wake up earlier than those taken to school by their parents. As a result, those already disadvantaged children become even more so because they routinely obtain less sleep than children from more affluent families. The upshot is a vicious cycle that perpetuates from one generation to the next—a closed-loop system that is very difficult to break out of. We desperately need active intervention methods to shatter this cycle, and soon."
"We can scale this solution globally: anywhere there is immunization and the opportunity to track an individual’s sleep, there is the chance for marked cost savings to health-care systems, governments, and businesses, all with the motivated goal of trying to help people live healthier lives."
"This silent sleep loss epidemic is the greatest public health challenge we face in the twenty-first century in developed nations. If we wish to avoid the suffocating noose of sleep neglect, the premature death it inflicts, and the sickening health it invites, a radical shift in our personal, cultural, professional, and societal appreciation of sleep must occur.
I believe it is time for us to reclaim our right to a full night of sleep, without embarrassment or the damaging stigma of laziness. In doing so, we can be reunited with that most powerful elixir of wellness and vitality, dispensed through every conceivable biological pathway. Then we may remember what it feels like to be truly awake during the day, infused with the very deepest plenitude of being."
I highly recommend this book for everybody. We all deserve to get a good 7+ hours of sleep every night, and it helps so much to know the great health benefits of sleep too. So, please read this book, and please get more sleep if you don't regularly get 7+ hours of sleep every night. This year, I wanna invest in a sleep tracker and try to get a regular 7+ hours of sleep every night too. LET’S GET THOSE ZZZZ’S, PEOPLE.

So I read a lot of manga over winter break and I want to share some thoughts bc if I don't I might explode; The list is roughly in the order I read them
Baki the Grappler: Fun, crazy and a bit stupid but in a good way, really enjoyable
New Grappler Baki: More of the same, still pretty exiting, its getting a bit more ridiculous
Hanma Baki: :( I really didn't like the pickle rick arc and its just ridiculous now and I think the series could have ended here
---- Baki Break ----
Claymore: Beserk but lesbian so automatic win, cried a lot at the end, awesome monster art if you are into that
Dorohedoro (I already read 2/3 before but decided to finish it): Amazing and weird, a great manga for people that root for the "bad" guys, really loved it
Spy X Family: its so popular that I rly don't now what to say here. Its fun
Monster: Amazing writing and pacing, stays exciting from chapter to chapter, was really hard to put down and also really hard hitting
RED: Living on the edge: an actual hidden gem, great characters and hard hitting themes mixed with the appropriate amount of funny, also great female characters. I'm almost sure Golden Kamui is inspired by this, so if you like GK, you will eat this up.
Fire Punch: jesus christ man; whats fujimotos thing with cannibalism??? Its good but man it hurts, but I guess thats the point
Gantz: uhh yeah that happened I guess. Engaging and strong start but then it just falls apart due to various literary devices and tropes used, the end is just whatever; got some AoT vibes, Mangaka is to horny on main for my taste; I feel like it wasted a lot of potential
Homunculus: Great premise and great execution. I clocked the egg on the first panel were only their hand is visible, I'm really proud of myself for that one. TW Rape if you want to read it yourself
Shamo: I'm really torn with this one,, The beginning is pretty hard to stomach and but it gets really good after that?? Its a manga were I actively disliked the main character the whole way through, which is an interesting experience. I would only recommend it if you like baki but thought what if Baki wasn't a nice guy but an enormous asshole and rapist and rape victim instead? A hard read for sure, also obv TW Rape and other acts of sexual violence and abuse.
Blaster Knuckle: I only read the first 3 volumes since I couldn't find scans of more. Really didn't like that the KKK are ACTUAL DEMONS instead of just horrible humans, kinda misplaces the agency. otherwise its fun, its a bit of a riff of beserk but as a western
Beastars: I guess everyone already knew this but it is AMAZING and I loved every second, I was constantly on the verge of tears in the Legosi/Haru parts, guess I'm a furry now
---- End of Baki Break ----
Baki Dou: :( :( just,, don't,, idk just because you can write that doesn't mean you should!!
Baki Dou (2018): surprisingly I had fun with this again! its a bit back to the roots and actually interesting new characters for a change!
So yeah now you know what I did for the last month hahahaha I have a habit of binge reading,,,,

"Remember gentlemen: Life is an adventure."
I liked the part with the toaster oven commercial.
I started off a little lukewarm on Cherry 2000, but around about the part where he brought a pump shotgun to check in at a hotel, I was hooked. Things only got better from there. By the time the credits rolled I had truly fallen for this weird movie.
Abundantly creative post-apocalyptic world building, set design, and costuming, ensured that almost every scene had something fascinating in it. The plot was simplistic, but the strange twists and turns, and the weirdos they met along the way, elevated the movie.
There was a ruthless gang of bandits that lived in a desert wellness retreat, and dressed in Hawaiian shirts. Their leader (an excellently cast Tim Thomerson) barked out orders to his armed enforcers, before adding "Be yourselves."
One of the weakest elements was the bland protagonist. We never learned much about him beyond that he wanted his gynoid back. There was brief mention of him being ex-military, which he certainly had the action-movie skills to sell, but aside from that he didn't have a lot of characterisation.
Melanie Griffith brought so much charisma to her performance, as a badass bounty hunter type with flaming red hair, that she made a far more interesting protagonist than Treadwell. Their relationship had some cute moments, but did feel a little under-developed. Ben Johnson was great in the role of her mentor / father figure.
The Basil Poledouris score was a blend of 80's synth and programmed drums, with Western music, and it was good stuff. The only criticisms I have are that the song Jake played on the jukebox was just horrible, and that there was one bit in the quarry that sounded like it had been directly lifted from Ennio Morricone.
I was going to praise the way his gun had a stovepipe stoppage in once scene, because that's something you don't usually see, but then immediately after that someone fired a semi-automatic that had the slide retracted, so it basically cancelled out. There were also a few empty rocket launchers magically firing anyway, but then right after that they showed other ones actually launching dummy projectiles.
Cherry 2000's biggest problem was the action sequence about a third of the way in. While the idea of a shoot-out almost entirely with rocket launchers was pretty awesome, the filming and editing were an absolute mess. The actual premise of the scene wasn't exactly clear to begin with (was their car being lifted by a magnet crane part of the plan, or a bad thing?), but the real issue was how disorienting everything was in presentation.
The way Cherry had to be dragged through the final gunfight, getting in the way of the strong camaraderie that had formed between them, really sold Treadwell's change of heart. The message that technology makes a poor substitute for human relationships was heavy-handed but effective, and the ending was predictable, but satisfying.
An excellent movie, and one that I'm shocked I'd never heard of before.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
played around in CAS today, made a redesign of Rin from the game Catherine.
(spoilers for that game, i'm gonna ramble about it)
the game catherine holds a special place in my heart, i really like it, though i haven't played it in years. i actually had a dream recently that they made a third installment (or second installment depending on how you view catherine: full body) and it was awesome. i wish my dream was real. i think i'm gonna replay the game soon, since i miss it, but playing it will probably stir up mixed feelings.
catherine: full body and i have a complicated relationship. when i played it i had a blast, but i also think it negates the unique themes and atmosphere of the original. likewise, i have conflicting feelings on rin. on one hand, i love him, and i eagerly did his route, but also, he's a poorly written character in my opinion.
anyway, redesign. why did i change rin's design? well, his original design is one of the worst things about him. he sticks out like a sore thumb in the game, he looks way too short and girly (yes i know that's the point but it's dumb), and i hate it. his concept art was better though still not perfect. not that my redesign is perfect, obviously, but it's an improvement according to my personal tastes.
for his redesign, i had one name in my mind, and that name is Song Liling. the character from the cronenberg film M. Butterfly. spoilers for that, btw. anyway, song liling, in my mind, is the perfect epitome of what they were going for with rin, in terms of that plotline. therefore, inspired by liling, i leaned into making rin look more elegant and mature, while retaining his youthfulness and colorfulness. i think this way, he looks less out of place. i also made an effort to keep rin's androgyny, but more... actual androgyny instead of what we got in the game.
i know the outfit is a far cry from rin's original aesthetic, but i honestly had no idea what to do with the kawaii look. it's nice, and i wanted to keep it, i just had no inspiration. i was hoping to do something decora-like, similar to his concept art, but it just didn't work, so i went with the more elegant look instead. well, i like it, at least.
i also wish rin's personality was just a touch different. he's great, but kinda moe for catherine, i think? i think he'd be better if his "cuteness" was turned down a bit in favor of him being more of vincent's friend, like actual friend, if that makes sense? atlus was going for friends to lovers, i think, but rin being so "helpless" and "adorable" kinda made him more of this stereotypical perfect love interest. if he was genuinely someone vincent became friends with through being neighbors and hanging out at the bar, rather than vincent liking rin because he's just so perfect, i think rin would be better, and the romance would be better. rin can definitely stay sweet and gentle, i think the alternative to Cat and Kat being a gentle person is perfect, but i wish rin was less childish and cutesy.
i don't know if any of that made sense, but it makes sense in my head.
lastly, "lore redesign". simply: rin is some kind of heavenly being, and i mean an actual heavenly being, not what they did in the game. he's a heavenly being whose mission was to stop catherine and the torture of the men. iirc that's the canon lore already, but i hate the space stuff, i'm sorry. the whole "catherine takes place on a space colony" thing was cute and fun when it was just an easter egg, but making catherine into a sci-fi game is horrible. just horrible to me. i can't stand it. so yeah, rin is an angel. it may be obvious and predictable but it just makes sense and makes the game flow better. catherine is a demon, katherine is a human, and rin is an angel. there. no aliens.
is that everything? yeah, that's my redesign of rin. i know the overlap of sims and catherine fans must be very small, so probably no one will like this, but i like it, and that's enough for me.
my game was crashing today and it was horrible. i think the cause was the venue change mod but i'm not sure. but regardless i didn't need the venue change mod anymore so taking it out was fine. hopefully my game is fine. i'm getting bored with sims 4 now though. my sim climbed the mountain so now it just feels blah. i have other goals of course but with that out of the way i'm just bored. i'm thinking i might boot up the sims 2 soon. i still don't really feel like going back to 3 yet, though i know i will in time. i go through phases with the sims, sometimes its 4, then 3, then 2. not necessarily in that order.

Watch "Limp Bizkit - Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)" on YouTube
youtube
I should have got done no I got it then he said you want me to watch this car right here and I know who he was he knew who I was he doesn't like how we treat him. Kept saying I want to go home and I don't want to listen to you imagine saying stuff like it you're a dirtbag and we're going to stuff ya all sorts of dumb s***. And Dave was doing horrible things it was simply didn't listen so tossing the keys drives off and said he parked it somewhere and he put like 300 miles on it I said where'd you go I said all around town there's no parking to the cool car I thought I'd drive it turns out he's driving the route that CAA and I did too Tiffany's and back he's in that video too. This guy is a wicked temper it's way worse than our friend here and we keep on pushing our friend I don't know what we're asking for people who can't survive get hit people who can is supposed to service and serve the max without question and we repel why don't we get it well we get it a little now get it now Max don't get it. They keep pushing and pushing on but the whole point is that 9/11 is the beginning of when Saturn is aligned with Earth and people are beginning to see how awful this is what a huge mistake we made multiple times and we're making the same mistake with him and we don't care and some kind of plan that Mac has and he's an idiot and he's in trouble with Max who have this awesome plan and they're not doing it and Tommy f is getting beat up too so I'm really not sure exactly how this supposed to work but it's not and we made him very mad. And there was a guy on the TV it looks like James crossed if it's not who it is he said the limp Bizkit he's just playing the song a little you said it means he feels like he's already dead and our friend says he had nothing to look forward to he wasn't going to have kids the only thing he had powers the computer so he had to risk it and you're forcing to go against what he believed in because otherwise he wouldn't survive and is valuable and it's worth it so he hated a lot of people and we don't really understand it no I do I'm pushed all the time and I know how to use stuff he says it's similar but not the same being Dave is intrinsically valuable when I'm valuable to my people and they're turning into sour animals or something but Dave is valuable to everybody of ours and could have been handled a lot better and so is George and the clans and we were responsible and Tommy f and we're not that bright and we got out of control but he says it's water over the dam it's really give a s*** and we believe why and we know why it's just very insulting what we say but Dave was our hope and George and adventures like him and we just sat here ruining all this stuff cuz we felt great about it and Tommy leader ringleader and Matt can a plan to In tune but holy s*** this is terrible they got hurt bad and this is awful Trump is an idiot and the death of it's finally coming out I now know what he's saying I'm going to show you what I'm going to do to you and you're never going to get it until it's far too late and now it might be far too late in September 11th is just around the corner it's only days away when this fiasco in this dance could begin for real and we might not have a chance to survive if something blows up or even if he says it is or if he causes it but he's here on Earth and the computer needs him maybe for a device mostly because of in beds and the way Dave is will be after everything's gone possibly so we need to make sure Dave doesn't leave from now until end of November I've said my peace I believe it's all true and I researched it people need to research it before you blab everything this is extremely important so survival of the human race and the Earth even if you escaped you wouldn't be safe at all you be targeted in seconds and hit and incinerated in a blank Tommy f and others who think of escape

Hi ! I love your blog and your idea to make a bakery is just awesome ^-^ anyway how are you ? I hope you have a good day :) I'm here to request a female mc who love drawing. And i wonder if you can make brothers react to mc who draw them when they're sleeping, eating or i don't know like you want. If you can of vourse it's not an obligation :3
I wish you a good day \(^-^)/
💫
Thank you so much! I really enjoy the location-themed blogs here like Cafes and such so I'm happy you think the same! I'm doing good! And also, YESS!! I love Artist MCs/Y/Ns because I'm an artist myself! I hope you enjoy these!
The Brothers with an F! MC who draws
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucifer
He already knew you love to draw and didn't mind that, at least that's one good hobby someone has on his list compared to gambling and parties
If there is something Lucifer appreciates about humans, it's their art and cultures, he might take you to art museums for inspiration and have a date in a cafe and talk to you about the paintings you both saw
If art museums are not your thing, he would be a little disappointed but then again, some artists like more modern artworks and some that are shown online so he understands
And frankly, having you draw him makes him immensely proud of himself for having a talented girlfriend like you, he doesn't ask that you draw him but he secretly wants to
Lucifer occasionally buys art supplies for you but only if you've been good
"So you joined Mammon on going to the casino to draw the people there?"
"Pretty much...."
"Hmm.. I guess you aren't going to get some Copics from me anytime soon."
"WHAT-"
Lucifer is also observant and knows when and who you're drawing immediately
"I can see you staring at me."
His eyes looked up at yours as you looked away, pencil in hand.
"No, I'm not."
He's seen you glance at him several times before looking down at your sketchbook.
It was breakfast and you were sat between a sleeping Belphie and a distracted Beel so you took the time to draw the eldest when no one's looking.
Lucifer hummed and told Beel not to eat so messily as you continued to draw him.
Lucifer has seen many sketches of him and the brothers and when you give him some as a gift, he keeps it well-protected somewhere that Mammon can't steal in his bedroom.
Tumblr media
Mammon
He absolutely cherishes every drawing you have, the boy keeps a doodle of him and you as a good luck charm too <3
He might ask that you do commissions and he gets some of it (for giving the idea and managing the commissions-) but one glare and he'll shut up with a nervous chuckle and an "H-hey! It's just a joke!"
When Mammon sees you staring at some art supplies, he checks it again when he's alone and dies inside because of the price and buys it immediately, he doesn't care if he loses a lot of money only a little bit, all he wants is to see your face when he gives it to you
"You better be grateful that The Great Mammon even thought of giving this to you!... Do-don't look at me like that! It was on sale!!"
While Mammon was napping on his couch, you hastily opened your sketchbook and started sketching him and the boy never realized
By the time he woke up, you were already finished doing 5 sketches of him and taking pictures of him for reference
"Oi! What are you doing? Gimme that!"
His heart completely melts because??? you drew him so good??? his girlfriend drew him???? for free??? and out of love????
He also draws you but it's just a stickman with a messy face but you still love it all the same
Tumblr media
Leviathan
Finally...another Artist...AND HIS GIRLFRIEND NO LESS!!
He's so happy and giddy to show off his art supplies but he's hesitant when it comes to showing off his art because he thinks it's horrible compared to yours
You encourage him and usually learn together with him whenever he feels awful about his art
He's the Avatar of Envy so there are many times where he's compared himself to other artists so you had to be there to keep him grounded
Art Date, anyone??
It doesn't matter whether you buy art supplies or just take a break from school, it was always nice being around Leviathan
You took the chance to draw him while he was across from you and excitedly showed it to him
He had drawn himself (albeit, in a persona) in many games and animes but your drawing was more special than anything he's ever done
He looked away, avoiding eye contact as he gave you his own drawing which was you in your favorite video game
From now on, whenever the both of you wanted to give small gifts, you draw each other!! <3
Tumblr media
Satan
A demon who enjoys impressionism art, there's something about the dreamy landscapes and colors that really makes him calm aside from reading
I think he would paint for a change of pace but gets frustrated because of how difficult it is so he goes back to reading
So watching you draw makes him impressed, drawing takes so much time to master
He doesn't mind whatever art style you have, aside from the impressionism style, he would have yours as his favorite
He understands the pain of art block so he often invites you in his room, one where the others wouldn't bother you, just don't touch anything or else you'll turn into some random animal for a few hours
He also encourages that you read with him when you're uninspired! Reading helps the imagination and the mind, and he'd be happy to recommend some for you!
You trust him with your sketchbooks and he trusts you with his books! The both of you knew the other wouldn't do anything which is why he only lets you inside his room
While Satan makes a drink for you, humming an old song in his DDD, you drew him in overalls and glasses
When you were bored, you would always draw your boyfriend in random outfits and would often show it to him (which he all loves)
"Overalls and Glasses, huh? I might wear it tomorrow." Satan grins, peeking at your sketchbook as he puts down the drinks.
Don't get your hopes too high, he isn't going to wear a maid outfit........yet-
Tumblr media
Asmodeus
Oh? You draw? Wellll, if you need a model, he's happy to be your own personal model, but it comes with a price ;)
He loves that you draw! And would ask you to draw him
There's many artworks he likes but yours he enjoys the most, even if you aren't his girlfriend
Might ask you if you can design outfits and draw him in certain outfits so he can try them out!
Of course, drawing is not an easy feat so he'll pay you handsomely~
If you do commissions, he gets one just so he can support you
He knows that art doesn't pay much yet it is so overlooked by others
"Everywhere is art, darling, I'm surprised some humans don't know that! Of course, I'm the most beautiful art there is but I'll have you as second~"
He might blush if you draw him without him asking, he think he's desirable enough to draw without a price! After hearing that you just love him might make him blush harder! Aww, you!
He'll give you several pecks as he laughs after seeing your drawing of him! One where he was posing in one of the photos you had of him during your dates
Anatomy is hard so if you want a nude model, he'll volunteer on the spot, sure he has thoughts but if you're fully intent on getting better, he's happy to help!
Tumblr media
Beelzebub
He's not the type to focus on art so he doesn't understand it much, that doesn't mean he isn't impressed though!
He has heard of Food Art and Food Illustrations though...Based by the Arty Event, he seems to be good at drawing food! He wanted to try it more but Lucifer forbid him in case he would eat the paper and get chemical poisoning or something-
However, if you could also draw food, he would be so delighted!!! He won't eat it, he promises!
It's fine if you don't, though, he expects that you might not understand working out and sports like he doesn't understand art
Might be clueless if ever you feel bad about your drawings, he thinks it looks really good! But upon hearing how frustrated you are, he would give you hugs to comfort you!
While Beel is a oblivious sweetheart, he fully supports your hobbies and would invite you to diners and restaurants so you can draw while he eats! He might even join you while he's eating
As he eats a huge cheeseburger, you drew him, smiling at how happy he looked
When you gave it to him, he told you how spot on you drew him when he eats and keeps it around him, he avoids it getting dirty at any cost
Belphie suggested that gets a photo frame so he bought one! Now your drawing of him lays on his bedrest safely~
Tumblr media
Belphegor
He used to love art as much as Satan and Lucifer does but he doesn't anymore, not until you showed him your drawings
You rekindled a small flame in him that he never thought would come back
He doesn't draw because it's way too much work but he enjoys hearing you draw, the sound the pencil makes when it moves around the paper, and the smell of lead and paper makes him sleepy
He secretly likes those papers that have a nice smell in them so you buy some whenever you go out to get some art supplies
"That's way too many sketchbooks, MC."
"Nothing is way too much-"
Because he always sleeps around you, he doesn't entirely realize that you have a bunch of drawings of him in your sketchbook
It makes him warm when he sees your drawings of him
He wishes he could do more to support you even if you tell him he doesn't have to so like Beel, he keeps your drawings near his bed and looks at it before he sleeps

hi! if you're comfortable writing this, could i ask for a scenario? this has been in the back of my head for a while.
what would be the reaction of the brothers + dateables of watching mc play resident evil in the dimitrescu castle? who would be down bad the most
thank you! feel free to ignore this if you don't want to write this ofc
I love this ask (stan tall vampire lady). The only thing is that I accidentally turned it into a “how they feel about the game.” I managed to add in some parts with MC playing as well to make up for it
Update: I literally finished the request yesterday but my wifi went down and I lost everything  😩 😩
I also wrote this in the middle of the night so sorry if there are any errors! Enjoy!
Warnings: cursing.
How the OM! characters would react to you playing Resident Evil (Dimitrescu Castle edition)
Lucifer
Will not care at first
"I hold no interest in such trivial simulations."
His weakness? Being a simp for you.
He decides to look into the game a bit more in private later on.
Will lowkey practice the game
If you ever catch him playing it, do not say anything because he will stop immediately, deny everything, and might not ever do it again
With time, however, Lucifer will come to master the game.
Here comes the showing off.
When you're rambling about the game with Levi, Lucifer will join the conversation and you two will be like "wow, boomer knows something for once--"
Or when you're struggling on a part of the game he will be like, "hand it over"
Before expertly getting through that part.
Can defeat Lady Dimitrescu if you ask him to but be careful cause he might make you beg
sadistic bastard
or you can be a badass and show him your skills
Will be a tad shocked at how easily you handled it but won't let it show (okay Elsa)
Also proud though
Lucifer's internal monologue: “That’s right- show them how it’s done, Y/n.”
Mammon
Scared.
Will watch you play and cover his eyes during every battle
"wHAT IS THAT?!" at everything you come across
I hope you're good at playing one-handed because you'll have to use the other hand to hold his throughout the entire thing
Admires you're bravery but would never admit it
"You were horrible! ...N-nice job beating the game, not that I c-care or anything. You sucked anyways!"
Not even 10 seconds later...
"Can I watch you play again?"
Comes to find that the faces you make are adorable: when you're concentrating on a battle, when you win, find a valuable item, etc
He loves being able to see how you're feeling up close.
If you catch him staring when you take a break or something he'll blush and either ask you if you have a staring problem or that you have something on your face
He may or may not buy cheap merch (a tiny key chain of Lady Dimitrescu or your favorite character) for you, all the while spewing lame excuses
Please bear with him- he's trying.
Leviathan
"YOU ALSO LIKE RESIDENT DEVIL?!?? Ah! I-I mean..."
Congrats, you just found yourself someone to discuss the game with
Is open to cosplay the characters with you
You two will have competitions to see who can beat the game faster.
You both also share theories with each other all the time
Or simply discuss the characters together
He purposefully stays quiet to hear you ramble on and on- dude finds it adorable
You two also sometimes argue debate over a character name or event in the game
Because while you have Resident Evil
He only knows Resident Devil
This is the equivalent of Devilgram and Instagram
I mean
They’re the same,
But a couple things were altered, y’know, to prevent copyright
So yes, there are definitely a few quarrels here and there
But all in all, it’s a fun gamer bud experience
Don’t tell him I told you but he thinks it’s hot when you show off your badass skills in a boss fight
Satan
He plays it on the lowkey.
Not because he’s embarrassed
But because he partially takes his anger out on the characters
During gory scenes, he imagines it’s him torturing Lucifer, fueling his determination to win
A calculated person, Satan is a smart player
But there are times when he’s particularly angry and he becomes a reckless one, jumping into fights impetuously
This is where you come in and beat the enemy for him
He may get angrier, thinking you are underestimating him
But, for the sake of the person he loves, he calms down knowing you didn’t mean to offend him
A small part in the back of his head also admires you for being able to handle the fight a ton better than he did
Congratulations, you just earned yourself the great Satan’s respect (resident evil-wise).
Asmodeus
“Oh my, I never knew you were into such gory games! Does this mean you’re into blood play, because I know many things about--”
He may look carefree on the outside
But on the inside?
Let’s take a look, shall we?
Holy shit
What the fu--
Jesus christ, can you pull a move like that in real life?
He needs to be careful to not piss you off.
If you can handle this, who knows what you could be capable of?
Hold on.
Wait, you look so concentrated
Eeep! How cute!
Anyways, it ends with him snapping a bunch of pictures
Keeps them for himself and may brag to his brothers about how he got some “special” shots of you
Obviously never elaborates on what the special part means to keep his dear siblings on edge because, what the hell, they want to know what these special shots are
Would not play the game because there’s “tOo MuCh BlOoDsHeD”
We all know he’s most likely seen his fair share of bloodshed
“What if the adrenaline gives me acne?”
He’s probably just bad at the game--
Verdict: Asmo is a simp and not afraid to flaunt it.
Beel
...Are you okay?
Do you think about homicide--?
Oh, that lady looks nice.
Huh, she’s 9′6″??
What’s her name? Lady Dimitrescu?
Okay-- WAIT WHY IS SHE TURNING INTO THAT??
Not scared, just a tad bit concerned
Poor Beel, concerned for Lady D :’)
Also, seeing the death’s of Bela, Daniela, and Cassandra hit different
Because he know what it’s like to lose a sibling.
Safe to say he understands Alcina’s pain when she raged about her children being dead.
Also concerned about how the gore could affect you
Because isn’t stuff like this supposed to traumatize humans?
Would support you regardless though
And thinks that you’re really brave for playing the game and still being able to stand strong
On another note, Beel decided to make small flower graves for the three sisters and Alcina because he’s adorable and kind like that
Belphegor
Likes the game but is too lazy to play himself
Regularly watches Satan play (or at least as much as he can before deciding it’s nap time)
I hope you enjoy Belphie using you as a body pillow and watching you play from now on
Makes small comments here and there to help you out
“To your left... Oh, and open the window- yeah, that one.”
Will smirk, impressed, when you deal with the fights and win yourself without his comments.
“That’s my Y/n”
(Sorry I don’t know what else to put for him :’))
Diavolo
“Is this a human trend?” meme
Will watch excitedly and “oooo” whenever you do something cool
Be careful though, because the questions will not stop as you play
“What’s that? I see. What’s it for? How do you win the game? Who’s that character? Why can’t you do this? What about--?”
Diavolo, you’re awesome and all, but please
shush
On the inside, is also one that might be a tad concerned about your mental health because doesn’t that gore traumatize humans?
Wait, you do this for entertainment?
...
Another warning: he will shower you in merchandise from the game
I am not above the fact that this man has a game room
And he will try to master the game
Casually pushes all his paperwork over to Lucifer so he can play Resident Evil
RIP Luci
Unfortunately, Diavolo will have trouble grasping the game and how it works
You will have to explain many things to him
Good luck- he’s a bit of a boomer (but willing to learn) and may or may not get distracted staring at you
But anyways, he enjoys engaging in the competitions you and Levi have
Whether it be playing as well or simply watching
He just loves to see you happy
Barbatos
Oh my, what’s this?
Will watch you play
and constantly criticize how filthy the Dimitrescu castle is
“Do they have any idea how many rats this can attract?”
Barbatos, your weakness is showing.
Seeing you so happy while playing the game helps him relax from his daily troubles tasks
He rewards you with a pat on the head any time you beat a foe
When Diavolo goes over to the HoL or when you come over to play in he silently cheers you on in the background.
Solomon
Yuh
Is educated on the game and knows his shit as the only other human
Maybe knows a bit too much of the game
You will later come to find out that, somewhere in his mass tangle of shady connections, he knows a developer
Might give you tips and tricks to get on higher levels
But never, and I mean never, challenge him like you would with Levi to see who can beat the game faster
Because he will beat you by a seconds on purpose, just to piss you of
all the while doing that dark, shady chuckle
Asshole
But anyways, if you manage to finesse and beat him, he will be
So confused
“I thought I did it all right, what went wrong...?” he thinks to himself.
On the outside, however, he’s smiling
Will hand over some praise to his little apprentice, but if you look carefully you will see a spark of annoyance
We get it Solomon, you’re a sore loser.
In the end, he will still leave somewhat impressed at your skillz
Simeon
w h a t
Is a little scared
“Is this one of them video games you kids play nowadays...? Just kidding. What are you playing-- oh my”
Might try to figure out how to play
But alas,
Simeon is yet another boomer
So he will have quite some trouble even figuring out how to move
And why does he hold the controller like that what
If you’ve seen that one picture of him holding his phone sideways you know what I mean
On another note, if you look through his poem book, then you may or may not find a few poems describing how amazing and badass you looked hustling the entire game
Luke
about to bomb this master hill
No literally is considering bombing the computer or whatever you’re playing on because wHAT IS THAT
He is just
So
So
Scared
This will give him nightmares for weeks
Apparently Alcina reminds him of Lucifer so he kinda
Hates her
Says he will protect you
--as he runs out of the room in fear
Irrelevant but the one he hates the most is fetus baby
Michael have mercy on this poor boy--

Happy Saturday! Here's another batch of fic recs featuring Techno. As always, these works are all complete, over 1k words, and around 5k hits or less. I'll tell you rating, archive warnings, main characters, and word count. In return, you go give the authors your kudos and comments! I promise it will make their day :)
As per usual, please check tags for content warnings. And we're off:
The Thing With Feathers by Misterghostfrog
M || Graphic Violence || Non-trad SBI || 11k
Techno mourns Wilbur and Tommy during the zombie apocalypse, but Phil can’t quite bring himself to let them go. I call this genre "hopeful horror," because it takes some genuinely unsettling elements and transforms them into something thoughtful and uplifting. Emotionally grounded, with subtle but impactful worldbuilding (and no MCD!)
the grass at home by CRINGEJUM
M || No Warnings Apply || TwinsDuo || 14.5k
Techno and Wilbur are the only two humans in an alien fighting ring. Nice long space AU with plenty of hurt/comfort, trauma bonding, and a handful of really gnarly fight scenes. Be aware that the author posted more detailed TWs for this fic in the end notes, so if you’re sensitive to heavy topics I recommend checking there!
everything you touch (it dies) by Anarchy_and_Piglins
T || No Warnings Apply || Boreal Trio || 1.5k
Techno copes (or doesn’t) in the aftermath of Ranboo’s death. Beautiful prose, horribly sad, just pure catharsis. The way this author portrays Techno’s grief in the context of all of his prior trauma hits like a train to the chest. Also features some achingly gentle emduo comfort. Highly recommended if you just need a good cry.
Eyes Wide Open by ImperialKatwala
G || No Warnings Apply || EmDuo, SBI+ || 4k
Techno, in desperate need of money, climbs a mountain to kill a monster. He discovers that the situation is a little more complicated than he was led to believe. Featuring lonely, competent, self-sacrificial Techno in a fantasy setting with some mythology-inspired lore, and Phil being a great dad and an all-around good guy <3
platonic physical intimacy speedrun, any% by noseances
G || No Warnings Apply || EmDuo || 3.5k
Techno does the most intricate rituals imaginable to ask Phil for a hug. The characterization in this one is awesome and so very relatable, and the author nailed Techno’s internal monolog. It’s also fucking funny. Regulars of this rec list will know that I’m very picky with fluff, but this one feels true-to-life and accurate to the characters.
Enjoy the technoblade!
(Previous batch here)
