March 2023 "That Girl" Challenge

This is the 31-Day Challenge that I've created for us to do together this month. It's just something simple and fun. Enjoy! - BlissfullyEcho

DAY 1: Deep clean your living space (bedroom, apartment, house, condo, camper, etc)

DAY 2: Deep clean your car (if you don't have a car, deep clean something else that you haven't done but should do: junk drawer, dresser, yoga mat, makeup brushes, etc)

DAY 3: Try a new (healthy!) recipe-- this could even be a healthy dessert or beverage

DAY 4: Try a guided meditation on YouTube for 10 minutes after waking up and before checking social media

DAY 5: Spend an extra 15 minutes working on something for school, work, hobbies, or your own personal development

DAY 6: Unfollow, delete, and block social media accounts and phone contacts that are just not part of your life anymore (or those who you plan on not having as a part of your life anymore)

DAY 7: Delete social media pictures that don't fit in with the best version of you. This could be the overedited photos, the thirst trap you put on there because that one person made you upset, etc.

DAY 8: Try a new workout that you haven't done. Pilates, ballet, barre, tennis, CrossFit, kickboxing, F45, cycling, running, swimming, etc.

DAY 9: Pamper your pet. Brush, clean, trim their nails, give them treats, etc. Go above and beyond for them today. (If you don't have animals, pamper yourself today!)

DAY 10: Enjoy the sunshine. Go outside (wear your sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat) for 15-20 minutes and enjoy your own company and nature.

DAY 11: No phone 30 minutes before bed. Set your bedtime tonight, and set an alarm 30 minutes prior to that. Once your alarm goes off, put your phone on DND and read a book before bed. Read until you are tired enough to turn off your lights and sleep.

DAY 12: Watch a documentary about something and learn! Maybe it's something you've never had an interest in. Just please make it positive! No heartbreaking or tragic documentaries. Let's not invite that into our "That Girl" challenge.

DAY 13: Buy a self-care item. This could be a yoga mat, face mask, cleansing oil, the Bible, perfume, etc. It can be as expensive or inexpensive as you'd like.

DAY 14: Go out on a date with yourself. Take yourself out to do something you've never done/been to before.

DAY 15: Aim to drink at least 60oz. of pure water today.

DAY 16: Spend 30 minutes learning a language you've always wanted to learn (and if you love it, practice for 10 minutes a day afterward)

DAY 17: Turn your notifications off.

DAY 18: No social media today.

DAY 19: Do something creative today. Buy a canvas, paint, and a brush, and follow a Bob Ross tutorial; maybe buy a jewelry-making kit. Take today and be creative for at least 30 minutes.

DAY 20: 10,000 steps OR walk for an hour

DAY 21: Go through your finances and see where you can budget. Take this time to audit your subscriptions and see if you would like to cancel any recurring subscriptions to save you extra money each month.

DAY 22: Avoid eating animal products today. Just focus on whole grains, fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, water, and vitamins.

DAY 23: Schedule any doctor appointments you might have. If you don't have to, then take today to create a to-do list for the next 3 days.

DAY 24: Spend some time deleting pictures and making storage space in your phone. Any way you can-- it doesn't have to be from deleting your photos.

DAY 25: Listen to a new podcast or TedTalk.

DAY 26: Check your credit report/score and see if there's anything you need to do/complete.

DAY 27: Clear your email inbox and unsubscribe from the companies you don't shop from anymore.

DAY 28: Touch up on your resume.

DAY 29: Sort through your closet and throw away, donate, and sell your clothes and shoes that you don't wear (and that you know you'll never wear again)

DAY 30: Sort through your bathroom drawers and cabinets and organize them.

DAY 31: Create a vision board for April.

“I’m sure you didn’t.” He said, in a tone Nerevar couldn’t tell was sarcastic or not.

“Sit down first.” Voryn said, and cautiously still, Nerevar sat down on the bed, still anxious. Something about Voryn’s behavior was a bit off—his movements were too stiff, and it made Nerevar’s guilt eat away at him.

While he his mind was anxiously running circles in his head, Voryn rifled around the bag, pulling something out he hid with the sleeve of his hoodie, before turning away. He was then messing with something Nerevar couldn’t see, before tugging the hoodie up and over his head, black hair falling down his back.

When he turned around though, Nerevar stopped breathing. His brain short circuited as he realized what Voryn was wearing.

The shirt Nerevar got him. The fucking collar too that he had quickly put on, was around his neck. Nerevar couldn’t even fully process it though as Voryn put a hand on his shoulder, sliding up it, before moving to his ear.

“I brought the skirt too, if you want to see it…” Voryn whispered, and Nerevar nearly choked.

“I-I’m—“ His face was burning red, he could feel it. “W-what are you talking about?”

“Don’t give me that.” Voryn brought one knee up on the bed, half straddling him. “You used that username in middle school all the time, do you think I wouldn’t know it was you?” Nerevar went stiff as a board under him, swearing up a storm mentally.

“Shut up.” Voryn covered his mouth with his hand, though he didn’t look that angry. In fact, he only looked mildly annoyed. “I didn’t say anything at first. I thought you must just be playing a prank on me. And then…” Voryn’s face softened. “You started leaving comments, paying more and more…” Nerevar swallowed roughly again as Voryn got a half-lidded look to his eyes. “Constantly praising my body, telling me how I was perfect for you…” Voryn had uncovered his mouth now, instead thumbing his lower lip as Nerevar stared up at him. “How badly you wanted to touch me…”

Nerevar’s throat felt dry as he tried hard to keep his eyes from drifting down towards the collar around Voryn’s neck.

“And then you went and bought me all this. Leaving a note that you wanted to see me dressed up just for you…” Voryn brought his other knee up now, fully straddling him with his other hand wrapped around Nerevar’s shoulder. For balance, Nerevar braced himself with one hand on the bed behind him, the other delicately placed on Voryn’s waist in case he fell. “And how you wanted to watch me cum over and over with that toy too…”

I'm working on a fic right now and slightly exploring Larry and Geeta's work relationship / friendship and honestly am having fun. So...headcanon time!

I just...I really like the idea that they have known each other for a long time and that Geeta is fully aware of Larry is capable of. She struggles, and has struggled for years, to understand how he just...changed to being normal. She has seen him at his best and finest hour and watched as he just...accepted normalcy and wears it like he has for his whole life. She watched how he traded fine trainer clothes of the highest quality for a few mid-quality suits and silk dress shirts. However, despite all of that, their dynamics never changed. People may think he's being serious about how she is as a boss and she thought so at first once his behavior changed but then she realized his humor is just...incredibly dry and flat. (She thinks she misses the sarcasm at first until it's directed at her in the blandest of tones. Then she finds she still hates it.) But she likes it because it compliments hers. She knows people are unsettled by her, that they have their views of her management skills and her person. Her blank gaze scares them, her attitude and behavior alienate her from people, and her smile is often misread. Yet she can pop into Larry's office with a grin on her face and stare at him as he tells her whatever is bothering him on his Spreadsheet of the Day.

Larry is one of the few people that Geeta can really just be herself around. She can let her stare become distant while she talks to him, can sit up a little straighter and become rigid as she discusses League business. She can let her words become a little sing song-y, let her body sway like it's floating when she tells him about her day. She can let Glimmora float around his office and Larry won't mind when she tries to bite his hair or burrow into his walls. She'll threaten to dock his pay for working overtime past acceptable overtime because she wants him to go home and not being a workaholic. (She knows that a lot of his money goes into Medali, goes to random trainers to pay for snacks and supplies, goes to Poppy's fundraisers and pays for Rika's obscene amount of magazine subscriptions. She knows that he has a frankly large amount of losses to bets against Hassel and that the money he gives Hassel goes to the Academy to help low income students. She knows that a large chunk of his money is also sent to another region of which she cannot figure out. She also knows that his money is spent on Pokémon clothes that she has never seen his team wear and also on gems and jewels that she knows for a fact sit in a jewelry box she got him when he accepted being the Medali gym leader. She knows that he's a man who cares not for anything but a good meal, so money doesn't actually mean much to him.)

She can put her socked feet on his lap while he glares at his computer, complaining that as his work wife she feels neglected. He'll dryly respond that there are divorce papers in his desk but please wait until Thursday to fill them out he has deadlines he needs to finish. He'll sigh when she hands him another file on an up and coming gym challenger yet they will spend the next several hours battling just so that Larry can take out his frustrations of having to stop his work to battle. She'll smile when she catches the way Larry smiles ever so slightly when he sees the diamond on Staraptor's head and the balloons on Flamigo's. She'll watch as he sits with Flamigo after their match and discuss what they need to do better next time while Glimmora floats over to say hello to her best friend. He'll not comment on how Flamingo was extremely close to successfully beating her team while she calls for repairs on the room.

Geeta may not understand why Larry chose to accept normalcy as his way of life, why he stopped battling with the passion he once had as a younger man, but she has slowly come to accept it, even if it's hard for her to do so. She doesn't understand how her rival, the one who brought out the best in her battles and of her, could just turn away from all of that to a life of letters and numbers. However, she is forever grateful that despite that he didn't end their friendship and alienate himself.

Larry struggles to understand Geeta's management style and why she has turned away from her worldly goals to focus just on Paldea. While he himself understands his dislike towards her at times, a fact she is well aware of and it brings her joy to know he can express his dislike, he doesn't fully understand why other leaders do as well given that she is very upfront with her expectations and goals. He doesn't understand why she insists on him using flying type for his Elite Four team when that was just the silly dream of a child. However, he is grateful that there is someone who understands him, who has sought to continue to understand him.

So yes, they don't always see eye to eye, they snark and get on each other's nerves, but they are the only two people who really understand the other.

However, Larry would really like it if Geeta would just let him work overtime. It's not harming anyone and it's less work for her to do.

"Cynthia" was a mannequin created in 1932 by Lester Gaba, a sculptor, retail display designer and later a teacher and writer. An unusually natural and human looking mannequin, Gaba used the attention Cynthia garnered to further anthropomorphize her. As a result, Gaba and Cynthia became famous, with Gaba becoming known for his mannequins, and with Cynthia appearing on a cover of Life Magazine, and being invited to the wedding of the former Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson in 1937.[1] Gaba's development of lighter weight mannequins, with more natural, human features, along with Cynthia's popularity impacted the use of mannequins in retail sales marketing.

In 1932, artist Lester Gaba created Cynthia for Saks Fifth Avenue, a 100-pound (45 kg) plaster model who, unusually, had realistic human imperfections like freckles, pigeon toes, and even different sized feet. Gaba posed with Cynthia around New York City for a Life Magazine shoot, and Cynthia appeared on the cover of the magazine, humorously demonstrating how life-like mannequins had become. Gaba further anthropomorphized Cynthia, and she began to receive invitations, fan mail and gifts, and to attend events. Gaba insisted that Cynthia had laryngitis, to account for her lack of speech during personal appearances. Additionally, a whole host of "Gaba Girls" were to follow. The Gaba Girls were life-sized, carved-soap mannequins modeled after well-known New York debutantes for the windows of Best & Company. They were much lighter, at 30 pounds (14 kg), than the typical 200-pound (91 kg) New York store mannequin. With the Gaba Girls and their realistic successors’ appeal, mannequins became an important new tool used by sellers to attract their clientele.

Cynthia herself soon became dazzlingly famous. Cartier and Tiffany sent her jewelry, Lilly Daché designed hats for her, and couturiers sent her their latest fashions, furrieries sent minks. Cynthia began to receive large quantities of fan mail, was photographed by Alfred Eisenstaedt. She was given a credit card from Saks Fifth Avenue, and had a box seat subscription to the Metropolitan Opera House. She had her own newspaper column, and a successful radio show. In 1938, she went to Hollywood to appear in the movie Artists and Models Abroad. In 1939, she was back in New York to see the notorious play Madame Bovary at the Broadhurst Theater. Cynthia met her demise when she slipped from a chair in a beauty salon and shattered.[1] The press reported her death, and Gaba appeared distraught, but eventually reconstructed her. In December 1942, however, Gaba was inducted into the army. Cynthia retired, and it wasn't until 1953 that she came back to the public in a TV show. But the magic was over, and Cynthia was soon to be stored in a cupboard for good.

Naomi had been pacing for hours trying to rationalize what she did. ‘This is the best option,’ They told themself, “At least this way, I can make sure I’m getting blood ethically. No one has to die.’ They knew they had to drink something. When she first turned, she was quick to dress like the vampire she was and cut their hair to show off their bite. She loved the idea of being dark and mysterious, living as a cryptid- a beast. It sounds strange, but a part of her was excited to start living a vampiric life- well, maybe “life” isn’t quite right.

Then came the fading from mirrors and nausea from eating anything at all. Having to blow eighteen-hundred bucks on a casket was a bit of a gut punch. As were the several blackout curtains they needed to avoid third-degree sunburns. It was annoying to have to sell her silver jewelry and even more so to break out in hives when even slightly near a single fucking garlic clove–

But they could deal with all that. They could bite the bullet in exchange for immortality.

No one told Naomi that blood cravings were the very last step in turning.

Just when they had gotten used to waking up a 8pm in a box, right as they had grown accustomed to guessing what their hair and makeup might look like, exactly when the worst of it seemed to be over, there was this pit in their stomach. They were so thirsty. Before resorting to humans, they tried draining raw meat. Nothing. Then a live pig. It didn’t do much. They knew this would happen, of course it would, but they hadn’t expected it to be this painful, and they definitely didn’t know the blood had to be human.

So, they researched how to get human blood. And sure, you can buy a little legally from donors, but it was so far outside their budget that is was barely even an option. But the cheaper alternatives, aimed at vampires specifically, seemed so needlessly cruel. For every new company she could find, she asked how they supplied their blood. The response was always the same. Humans would be hooked up to IVs, blood coming out of one, and saline coming in from the other. Sometimes they ere given solid food, but at most places, they used a feeding tube. A bit more dazed and certainly less elegant.

“Just… dry is fine.” He said. He had no reason to trust them, but he hadn’t had real, solid food in such a long time that if she was planning on drugging him, then he could live with that. He ate in completely awkward silence as Naomi tired not to make eye contact. Internally, Issac was panicking. Yes, he had been trained just in case he was sold, but he hadn’t been for such a long time that he barely even remembered it. Hopefully it would come rushing back to him when he was properly fed and rested.

“Uh, I put a mattress in a spare room. Do you wanna go to bed?” It’s like they read his mind. Can vampires read minds? He didn’t know. He was tired. He nodded.

She led him away gently, and closed the door, leaving him alone in the makeshift bedroom. He didn’t have the energy to consider what was going to happen to him. Naomi was weird. Maybe it wasn’t even real. He’s had these kind of dreams before. Maybe when he wakes up he’ll be back in the facility with needles in his arms and a tube down his nose. Or maybe he’ll wake up here and she’ll peirce him with her fangs. He always wondered what a real bite would feel like. It would probably hurt worse than the needle.

Whatever. He could worry about that when he can keep his eyes open.
