A Dragon's Vow
(Part 1?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucifer had been standing in the lobby of the Hazbin Hotel, speaking with his daughter, Charlie, when he first met you. He had come by the morning after extermination to check on her, as well as the other residents of her hotel (for whom he didn't particularly care for, in all honesty; especially not that Alastor fellow).
They had been speaking about renovations to the hotel after the events that took place prior and during the extermination. The hotel had suffered many damages to both its interior and exterior; damages that normally would take one a while to fix if they weren't in Hell. He promised Charlie his help with fixing whatever needed fixing.
And that's when he first saw you.
Everyone was gathered in the hotel lobby, residents and all. His eyes had begun scanning around all the potential bodies that would be helping with the reconstruction of his daughter's life-long dream of a project, when he had spotted a head of pure white hair in the group's mass. He squinted his eyes, as he couldn't remember seeing such a color that stood out as much as it did, but when he saw your face it was all over for him.
You were absolutely stunning.
Your hair had to have been a result of your transformation into the afterlife. He had never known any being to have such a pure color for hair while still being alive. At least, not naturally.
Your body, from what he could see, appeared to be dusted with white glitter markings, highlighting your already beautiful skin. The light coming through the broken windows of the hotel seemed to gravitate towards your figure, as if sensing the need to accentuate how unique your presence actually was.
In Lucifer's mind, it was almost like looking straight at an angel.
Only was he shaken from his thoughts when he finally noticed the pair of snapping fingers that had been in-front of his face for who knows how long. They belonged to his daughter.
"Dad!" Charlie exclaimed, continuing the snap of her fingers in-front of his eyes until he finally gathered his bearings with a blink, turning to look at her.
"Huh- oh, did you need something dear?" He asked, blinking his eyes slowly, like a toad who'd been sitting on a log all day without interaction. Charlie gave a sigh and put her hands together as she then tried again to reach her father with words.
"I said," She began, a smile creeping its way up onto her face, "Dad, I would like you to meet our newest resident to the Hotel! Her name is Y/N! And, Y/N, this is my dad, Lucifer!"
Then, "I just wanted to introduce you both since we will all be spending lots of time together, trying to rebuild the hotel! I want everyone to get along!"
It was just then that he had realized that you were now also standing in-front of him, alongside his daughter. Your beautifully colored eyes were pinning him under their gaze. Your sparkling skin looked even more enticing up close. It really made him wonder what sort of hybrid you must've been to be able to adorn such a naturally beautiful look. Your eyes had looked at Charlie with such a softness, before turning their now piercing daggers onto him.
Wait...did his daughter say...Y/N?
That had to be a coincidence, he was sure. Such a familiar name, it was just making him think of those he used to know.
Yet, the leap of his heart in his ribcage didn't fail to go unnoticed.
He wasn't given much time to delve deeper into his confused thoughts, because he was already being pushed slightly closer towards you, as a means to encourage him to introduce himself instead of just standing there like an oaf, he assumed was Charlie's idea behind it all.
A goofy grin overtook his face as he took a step forward on his own accord, without any help from his daughter. He was going to nail this 'introduction'. Or so he thought.
As he began the simple motion of extending his arm for a polite handshake, he was surprised to see that, once he re-opened his eyes after a blink, you were no longer standing in-front of him.
Rather, in your place now stood a white, glittery colored dragon, lips pulled back in a snarl, baring your teeth, snout wrinkling with the motion.
Lucifer hardly had any time to react, let alone back up, before you let out an earth-rumbling roar; the sound caused him to instinctively reach a hand up to steady his top hat atop his head, to make sure it wasn't blown off by the force of your bellowing sound. He shut his eyes against the harsh gust of wind that suddenly swept past his face following the noise; the complaints and confused murmurs of the other hotel residents were barely audible as he was the one experiencing this head-on. More to the face than head, but same thing for him.
Once the whirlwind of noise had stopped, he opened his eyes just in time to see you turn tail and flee, going up the main stairs and off to one side of the staircase, disappearing deeper into the hotel. No one went after you. He supposed from that reaction he got just from trying to shake your hand, that was what you most preferred.
In that moment, he realized that Charlie was once again trying to tell him something, but his eyes were still trained on the last spot you'd been.
"Heh...sorry, Dad." Charlie said, rubbing the back of her neck with her big, awkward smile that he knew so well; she got it from him. "I-I forgot to mention that she's still a bit skittish. She was pretty banged up when we first found her during extermination. I've noticed that she doesn't seem to want to be touched or even remotely looked at for too long, for that matter. I shouldn't have pushed her or you, I'm so sor-"
"Charlie, it's fine." Lucifer assured, finally turning his body towards his daughter as they talked, leaning on his cane nonchalantly. "New sinners always need time to warm up to things down here! I can...always say 'hi' later." He assured, giving her a big grin of his own.
His eyes found themselves instinctually looking back over at the stairs and railing, then down the dark hallway where you had disappeared deeper into the hotel. A soft glimmer lit his eyes.
So it was true. He had thought you looked a little familiar...maybe a bit too familiar when he first laid eyes on you. The white hair might have been what threw him off to start, but there was no mistaking it now. The Lightfury form was a dead giveaway for anyone who knew you personally.
It was you.
Y/N. His acquaintance; the person who had tried to help him rebel against God, prior to his falling. Always he had wondered what had happened to you, being his helper in his schemes, after he fell. What had God done to you? Were you punished as well? He had never known and still didn't, for that matter.
At the time he had hoped, even though it was selfish to wish and he knew it, that you too, would be cast from the clouds and bound to join him in the afterlife down in the various cities of Hell.
What he had gathered from your sudden appearance here, at his daughter's Hotel, told him that you were most likely still living in Heaven, and probably against your will. Whether you were still an angel or not, he didn't know.
All he knew was that you weren't where you were supposed to be.
But he was determined to find out why you were here, and how on Earth you were still managing to be as beautiful as the last day he laid eyes on you.
Tumblr media
Whilst everyone else was out helping with fixing hotel damages, Lucifer had snuck back into the hotel; he was searching for you, to put it plainly. You had caught his interest earlier, and he just wanted to apologize to you for being so forward and making you uncomfortable enough to scurry away like you had. He was also terrified that he had already made a horrible impression on such a beautiful woman, which whom used to work right alongside him back when they both spent their days in Heaven. He had lost you once; he couldn't afford for that to happen again, especially not when he could help it.
He practically skipped up the stairs two at a time to the second floor of the hotel, as that was where he had watched you disappear an hour or so ago. He assumed that meant your room was somewhere nearby.
It surely didn't take him too long to find your room. The side of the door exposed to the hallway had some unique-looking, luminescent vines hanging down from the top of it; some tiny glowing crystal shards were embedded into the wood of the doorframe.
Lucifer stood outside that door for a good five minutes. He swallowed many times, as if trying to physically push the nerves back into his body.
What was he supposed to say? What should he do? How should he act? Would you even let him near you? Did you remember him at all? Did you...hate him?
He remembered receiving some pretty angry sounding letters from you when he fell from Heaven. Claiming to him about how the angels, as your side of the punishment, had started using you for tests to try and better understand your hybrid anatomy; forcing you into executing angels who refused to follow the rules with your plasma blasts. He had then sent a letter back, asking why they didn't cast you out like they did him. You told him it was because the angels deemed you 'too valuable' to just be thrown down into 'that wasteland', as they put it.
Lucifer shook his head. He was still stalling. You were just on the other side of this door, someone who he used to call his partner in crime; his friend. He sighed, straightened his outfit whilst taking a deep breath, then knocked a total of three times.
He waited patiently, tapping his foot outside the door silently, mentally willing for you to open the door and possibly (hopefully) greet him with open arms.
But like all the other things pertaining to your complicated relationship status, he knew that was amongst the many things that was very unlikely.
He raised his fist to knock again but there was no need. The door opened a crack. He stiffened in surprise, moving his head to peer into the small crack the sudden opening provided. A soft glow could be seen within the room but besides that, the interior was shrouded in darkness. Although you yourself had not physically come to the door to let him in, he took this as an invitation rather than a deterrent. Stepping inside, wincing at the small creak of the door on its hinges, he shut it behind him without so much as a sound.
Lucifer looked around, taking in the interior design of your room. The half shrouded in blacks and greys looked like any of the other hotel rooms. It held a fancy, well-kept king sized bed; a nicely crafted wooden desk with a chair, a small carpet under it additionally to avoid scratching the floors; a large dresser; a decent sized standing mirror beside the bed; a small nightstand on either side of said bed.
The other half of your room was a totally different story completely.
And he had to admit, it was pretty amazing.
The second half was an expanse of forest-like figures. It held high rocks that seemed to stretch to the endless ceiling of the room, while the original half of your room had a short-stopped ceiling just high enough for five-star comfort. Said rocks held many various colored crystals on them, each which glowed a slightly different color than its neighbor, each bearing that welcoming yet cautioning signal to any beholder.
The wooden floor gave way to a grassy texture; the grass was glowing lightly, looking more like an expansive patch of algae rather than everyday grass. He could tell it was most likely very soft though, as it swayed lightly, subtly, as if a draft were coming through from somewhere not visible to the naked eye. There was even a little pond in the distance he could see!
As he thought to himself more and more, he realized that he did know what this stuff was. Landscape one would see in The Hidden World. In your Heaven days, the both of you would sit around for hours and swap stories with one another, going all the way back to the times when you were alive and what life was like for you. You always spoke to him about The Hidden World; the homeland and birthplace of all the dragons of your kind. From what you had told him about it, he had deemed it pretty amazing in his mind. He remembered you speaking about the glowing necessities, the luminescent markings on dragons, the crystals you sometimes liked to collect, and the overall peaceful atmosphere. He was able to get a general image in his mind of all the things pertaining to the homeland that you mentioned; looking at this area of your room now, he told himself it was probably safe to assume that this whole area was a resemblance of where you come from. He felt as if he could almost puff his chest out in pride for remembering something so important to you. Of course, he had to stay humble now if he wanted any chance of getting you to talk with him once again; maybe not like old times, but a greeting would be nice, surely.
You had said that The Hidden World was truly a place that you felt peace for the first time in your life whilst you were alive. Then you had proceeded to tell him after that, that he now provided that same feeling for you. That sense of safety. Security. Belonging.
As he made his way across the normal part of the room to get to the additional beauty, that's when he noticed you there. You were, hanging from a bare tree by the tail, it looked like. Your beautiful, white wings were wrapped around yourself except for a tiny crack in their merging.
And in this crack between your wings, was a thin-slitted pupiled eye staring straight at him.
The sight caused him to freeze in his tracks, with one foot now in the glowing, algae-like grass. He gave a nervous smile your way, which only caused you to narrow said eye further and uncurl your wings. Like the most skilled acrobatic, he watched as you unfurled your long, slender dragon body; walking along the branch, you then jumped down to the grass below.
Your eyes were still slits as you approached him now, slowly, cautiously. Almost as if he were the prey and you the predator. Honestly, that's how Lucifer felt right now.
But then, instead of pouncing, you just stopped and stared at him. Your long, elegant tail lashed slowly, barley touching the grass as it swayed freely, yet with a controlled fashion. Eyes still narrowed, you let out a snort of annoyance, rolling your eyes, before tossing your head in an irritated gesture and finally coming to sit on the grass, still a ways away from him.
"...You're ruining my grass..." You huffed, narrowed eyes taking him in, raking over him as if you could pick him up and toss him out of your proximity with just a gaze.
He blinked at your dragon form, confused. Then he looked down, seeing how one of his shoes was sunken slightly into the delicate, glowing grass. He gave a sheepish smile, quickly removing his foot and placing it back on the hardwood, rubbing his neck with a nervous chuckle. Although he knew there was a human soul beneath the dragon you were currently transformed into, he also knew that you could probably reach him in a faster time than he could scream. So, he wanted to try and keep you happy, especially if it meant you would keep talking to him, even if in a condescending tone. And especially since he didn't know your current feelings towards him.
"Sorry, I-"
"Save it. I don't want to hear your excuses, Lucifer. Don't you think you've given enough of those already these past hundred years?"
He looked up at you, eyes shining with a little bit of hurt. That might be the first time you had ever used his full name since he first met you. He was so used to you calling him Luci.
Lucifer just...didn't sound right. Not coming from you.
"I-"
"Then, you come in here and trample my grass; the same grass of my homeland; the grass my ancestors before me walked on!"
"I-its just grass, darling-"
Your head snapped in his direction quite violently due to the nickname and his response. Your body stood up on its own accord and began slowly stalking over to him.
"Just...grass? Just GRASS?! I was born on said grass-"
You continued walking towards him, pupils back to those dangerous slits that signaled your current emotional state; upset and angry. You kept rambling to him about the grass and its importance to your true home. You got so close to him to the point that he had to start taking steps backward, until there was no room left to do so. He was at the door to your room, back pressed roughly to it as your dragon form prowled closer to him, flat snout right in-front of his face; he could practically feel the hot air being emitted from your nostrils. By this time, you were nearing the end of your rant.
"and at the end of the day-" You let out a hiss, baring your teeth. "...it really is just grass."
Your face relaxed almost immediately. Your wrinkled snout became smooth again, the luminescent glows from the vines on the door making it sparkle lightly. Your bared teeth dropped their snarl, turning your dragon lips into a sly smirk. You turned tail and lazily sauntered back to the grassy expanse of glowing vegetation. Doing a few circles in one spot you then decided to lay down on your side, eyes never leaving his. Almost as if you were taunting him to draw nearer.
"I- oh. Wait, what? W-What-"
Lucifer sighed and awkwardly leaned on his cane, rubbing his temples. He knew you to be intimidating back then but holy shit, now? Now thinking about it, he never really had experienced your fury head on before. He hoped he never had to.
Seemingly sensing his hesitation, you sighed.
"Oh for fucks sake, Lucifer. I was kidding. You of all people should know how dramatic I like to be."
Seeing as he still didn't move a muscle, as if wanting to respect your personal space and not get any closer if you really didn't want him to, your cylinder-shaped ears flattened against your head, an almost worried look overtaking your features.
As if he didn't believe you were real.
"Am I really that scary?"
As soon as that question left your lips, he was by your side. Having teleported, it made you jump a little when he so suddenly appeared by your side on the grass, sitting cross-legged.
You let your muscles relax once again, letting out a silent breath. You offered him a toothy, cute dragon smile. He gave you his big, signature grin right back.
"No, no, no. You're one of the most beautiful dragons I have ever seen! Absolutely no one can compare to your beauty, light one!"
With the way he spoke, as if he was presenting a speech, it made you let out a huff and a snort, which was also the dragon equivalent of a laugh in most cases. It also made your heart thump rapidly in your chest, hearing him use the nickname he often used for you back when you both resided above the clouds together.
Light one.
You figured it was only fair to change back into your human body, since it had been so long since you had seen one another in person, that he deserved to talk with you face-to-face and not to the face of a dragon, no matter how much he claimed you were beautiful both ways.
In a span of seconds, there was no longer a large dragon sitting beside Lucifer in the grass, but rather another individual, just as himself. Your legs were crossed just as his were, mimicking his body language. The two of you sat in silence for a long while, although throughout it all you could feel his eyes on you. With how quick he was to reassure you of your beauty, you knew he must be dying to ask you a bunch of questions; catch up on all that you had missed of one another's life since his falling and sparse letters in between.
You sighed and folded your hands in your lap, looking at your soft, glitter-dusted skin. It was hard to think of things to say when you really need not say anything at all. The silence, for you at least, said all that words could not and so much more beyond that limitation.
"Look, Luci, I-"
A sudden force knocked you onto your side, arms wrapping around you in the span of a second, squeezing you tightly. You yelped in surprise, although it was quite obvious the only person it could be.
"Oh my goodness, it really is you!" Lucifer exclaimed happily, eyes shut tight as he buried his face into your neck as your hug proceeded. "I knew it! Oh, I knew it as soon as you transformed back in the lobby- when you called me Luci just now. Oh my gosh, it really is you!"
He sounded exactly like a little kid might on Christmas, just getting their first train set, with many more to come after that within the following years. Alongside that excitement usually followed laughter, and oh was that universal sound flowing in the room at this moment.
You were both hugging and laughing to your hearts content after you had gotten over the initial shock of him bowling you over. For a little man, he surely had strength, that was for certain. Yet you knew best that he was not to be underestimated.
"Shit- yes, yes, it's me, I promise! I know the looks a bit new, but its me!" You said, trying to speak coherently through his own rambling and excitement of having finally found his friend after so long. The person who had been by his side through all his rights and wrongs whilst in Heaven. His wingwoman. His ride or die.
The person whom he had loved since first glance, but was too much of a coward to ever admit it. He always knew you deserved better.
"I-I'm sorry, I just...I can't believe you're really here! After...after all this time. Oh, Y/N...how I've missed you..."
Lucifers voice had dropped to a whisper at this point. You had to strain your ears to hear him, but made sure you did. You always heard him, whether he thought so or not.
"I've missed you too, Luci...really. I'm so sorry we got separated. I should've fought harder for your safety, I should've tried harder to convince the council, I-"
A finger found its way to your lips, shushing you with one, quick motion.
"Stop. Just...stop." Lucifer said, brows furrowed, a sad look overtaking his features as he sighed, eyes closed. "It was my fault for even convincing you to help me in the first place. I should've just kept you out of it."
He sniffled softly, turning his body away from yours a bit, not wanting you to see how emotional he was getting. He could still remember the way you cried his name as you got a front-row seat to watching him fall, courtesy of Adam.
Adam. That son of a bitch. He could only imagine the cruel and unusual punishments the sadistic man had thrown at you in return for helping the Devil himself (although he hadn't had that role back then just yet).
"What have they done to you...you know, since I left? They knew we had a good connection. I can only imagine the things they did to you as a result of helping me. I know you said they refuse to kill you or cast you out..." He muttered, now having his knees up to his chest, his chin resting on top of them.
You frowned, mainly in pity for him, watching him seem to curl up into himself like this. You had been thinking about all the ways the separation had been hurting you all these years, but now you had come to realize that you hadn't done much thinking about how it was affecting Lucifer. You figured that, since his fall, he had been doing just dandy down in Hell with his wife, Lilith. God, you hated that woman, or at least you had when they had decided to cast Lilith down into Hell with Lucifer instead of you. Many nights you had cried yourself to sleep, wishing so desperately that you could be down in this wasteland with him, comforting him about the recent events. You knew Lilith most likely wasn't doing it, and even if she was, you knew you could do better. He was your truest friend. You knew him both inside and out. Better than anyone.
"Its not of importance what they did and still do to me, Luci-"
"Yes it is! It's very important!" He burst out, making you raise an eyebrow. "It was supposed to be my job to protect you from any harm that came our way, remember? Remember what I said? I-I promised to always protect you from danger, to keep you safe, and I couldn't even do that without messing up!"
He threw his hands up, exasperated, using a gloved hand to cover his eyes and rub them. You gave him a soft, sad smile, one you were not sure if he saw, but knew he could sense. He was being way too hard on himself, you knew.
You had made the choice to help him, and wouldn't change a thing about that decision.
"Lucifer..." You spoke lightly, as if speaking to a scared animal. In a way, you were. "None of what happened to me is your fault. None of what is still happening to me is your fault. If someone has to take the fault, it should be me. I knew what I was potentially getting myself into when I agreed to help you. Those possible consequences never mattered to me."
You had to look away from him for a split second, some tears falling from your eyes as you blinked, then onto the lush grass beneath both your bodies. A deep breath inflated your chest before you allowed yourself to continue talking.
"All that ever mattered to me..." You began again, voice shaky as you maintained your composure, "...was the fact that I was getting to help my closest friend. The first person in Heaven who welcomed me, took me in with open wings. The first person to ever hug me. The first person to show me how unique and special I was, as well as my abilities and hybrid form. The first person who...didn't look at me like I was some sort of monster, due to the fact that I could transform into a dragon."
This seemed to shock him, for he raised his head to stare at you once again, cheeks lightly tear stained.
"People thought you a monster?" He asked, eyes wide and confused. "Why? H-How-"
You shrugged and picked at the grass beneath you with a finger.
"People tend to be scared of the things they don't understand, Luci. Things they've never seen before, such as a hybrid like myself. Even angels get scared sometimes, believe it or not."
Lucifer was at a loss for words. The angels had seen you as a monster when you first appeared at their gates? Someone as beautiful, majestic, and powerful as you? He truly couldn't believe that. He made a silent promise to himself in that very moment to give Adam a little extra punch for treating you like that upon your first visit to Heaven. You had never told him, either. Or, at least you hadn't had the time to before he fell.
"Apparently." Lucifer grumbled, whilst rolling his eyes. "Damn idiots never know what the hell they're talking about..."
At this, you raised both your eyebrows, and couldn't help the small giggle that left your lips at his protective nature. After all of this time not seeing one another, he was still as protective over you as the first day you met. It was refreshing to see that some things really never did change when it came to the King of Hell. Since the day he became so.
He perked up as you began to giggle, a shot of red flashing across his features from embarrassment. Then, despite himself, he too began to chuckle.
The steady rhythm of his heart made itself well known in his ears as the two of you continued to laugh together, just like old times in the clouds.
Although when you were together it felt like no time had passed at all, you both were aware that that was far from the truth.
You had some catching up to do.
Tumblr media
The hellish sun beat down on the Hazbin Hotel. All the other residents, including Charlie, were outside helping to rebuild and design a new look for the previously destroyed hotel.
You and Lucifer had finally come out from your room after chatting it up for what had to have been over an hour. It was nice, now knowing the truth behind some of the things that had happened to him, and you were sure he felt the same about the things pertaining to you. He had promised you he would deliver quite the ruthless punch to Adam's groin when he saw him next, due to the things he had put you through after his falling. This had made you roll your eyes, but the idea wasn't dismissed. You'd allow it. Maybe even a couple times. Especially if it meant you got to see Lucifer happy.
Now, both of you were currently outside with everyone else, helping to rebuild the structure of his daughters hotel. You were in the form of your Lightfury, whilst Lucifer was standing proudly on your back as you flew laps around the perimeter of the hotel, giving him range to shoot blasts of magic, where building parts would then materialize before ones eyes.
You craned your neck around to look at the little man on your back, who was already looking down at you, smiling like the dork you knew him to be. This was almost like the perfect moment, especially after the deep conversation you both had back in the hotel room-
"DAD! No riding my residents, please! I'm glad you're making friends though! Proud of you! I just don't think we have the insurance to cover an injury yet!"
Charlie's voice cut through the atmosphere like a knife, causing both of you to startle and look down at her. She had a finger pointed up at you both, an adoring smile on her face; following it were the rest of the residents eyes. You both were now the spotlight of attention.
Your smooth-skinned dragon face had a bit of a red tint to it now because of the princess's words, and you didn't even have to look at Lucifer to be able to say that he looked the same. His daughter didn't even know how deep the history went between you both; she didn't even know you two knew one another prior to this. Nor did she really need to know. It could be you and Lucifers little secret. Something just for the two of you.
You snorted at her words, managing to screw your face into an extremely unamused expression quick enough to hide the blush, making sure to keep flapping your wings so you wouldn't falter in your hovering.
"Dear, you may just find yourself jealous because I have a dragon and you lack one! You see this beauty? Extraordinary! Such a great species too, infact-"
You managed to look even more annoyed than you felt, as Lucifer continued to take it upon himself to deliver a little speech on your back whilst you were just hovering there, explaining his good fortune to have found a friend in you once again and now being able to get free rides. But, no one seemed to tell him that you were the one steering this ship.
In the span of a millisecond, you had tipped your body to the side, sending him sliding off your back and plummeting towards the ground, following with him yelping in both surprise and momentary fear. You snorted in amusement and instantly tucked your wings and went into a dive, following right after him.
The wind whistled past your sensitive ears as you were now falling right beside him. You looked at him with your wide, cat-like eyes, a curious coo escaping your throat as he just smirked at you, putting his hands behind his head as you both fell through the air, as if in some sort of movie. You then narrowed your sharp eyes and struck him playfully in the chest with a paw, sending him spinning off balance and crashing into some nearby bushes.
Quick to steady yourself, you quickly turned around midair and swooped just low enough to snag Charlie from off the ground, holding her in your arms, before letting her climb onto your back and sitting comfortably. Her smile was wide and cheerful, making you laugh as you shot back up into the air.
"Woo-hoo!" Charlie hollered, holding onto your neck by wrapping both her arms around its thick expanse as you warbled in response, showing off your toothy dragon grin as you flapped your wings vigorously, taking both you and the daughter of Hell off into the surrounding city.
Lucifer sat up in the mas of bushes, spitting out some leaves and rubbing the side of his head. He could've used his wings to slow his fall but he figured if it made you smile, he would get a little banged up. He still had that same grin plastered to his face.
He couldn't even be annoyed as he picked off thorns from his suit and top hat, watching with a soft sparkle in his eyes as his two favorite girls flew away together into the sunset.
Upon Charlie finding and helping you on extermination day, which had been only yesterday, you had now become an official resident of the Hotel. You kept telling yourself it was temporary until you were able to go back up to Heaven, but the more time you spent under the clouds and the feet of those still alive and walking, the more you came to realize that this place felt more like a home than the one you came from originally.
Lucifer had promised to wait for you in Hell after he fell, even for all eternity if that's how long it took for your pure soul to deserve damnation.
In return, you had promised never to truly leave him. To never abandon. To never relinquish your connection. And you would hold that promise, through and through.
It was your vow.

Hazbin Hotel x HTTYD
What type of dragon would the Hazbin characters have?
Vaggie and Carmilla - Deadly Nadder
Alastor - Monstrous Nightmare(?)
Vox - Night Fury (because why not? They’re adorable and they’re my favorites and I meant both the Night Furies and Vox) or a Skrill (I’m mostly leaning towards Night Furies) or even a Seashocker
Niffty - Speed Stinger (??) or a Hobgobbler
Angel Dust - Hideous Zippleback (he could share it with Cherri Bomb or Husk if he wants to)
Charlie - Death Song
Sir Pentious - Slither Wing(?)
Velvette and Lute - RazorWhip
Valentino - Frightmare
Lucifer - Stormcutter or a Bewilderbeast
Cherri Bomb - Whispering Death(??) or a Triple Stryke or a Hideous Zippleback (Shared with Angel Dust)
Husk and Zestial - DeathGripper(??)
Do you think these dragons matched? What are your thoughts about it?

Can you make a Charlie Weasley x Jacob's sibling where the reader can actually speak to dragons? Like Hiccup in httyd books or Harry with the snake-like beings
Oooh interesting concept! For purposes of the piece I'm not gonna worry about why or how the MC can speak to dragons and we're just gonna not ask questions~
---------------------------
"[Y/N!] Have you seen Charlie?"
You look up from your sandwich and shake your head, mouth still half-full.
"I haven't. Is he okay?"
Bill runs his hand through his hair, and you realize he's sweating. "I'm worried he's not. I haven't seen him all day, and we were supposed to meet for lunch. It's unlike him to be this late."
You hear a scoff from behind you. Merula lilts her head.
"The second filthy Weasley?" She snorts. "He probably heard Barnaby going on about the dragon he saw in the forest today. Apparently Kettleburn let it loose or something."
Bill blanches. "Oh bloody hell."
You and Bill sprint to the forest with such speed and determination that you're both heaving by the time you get there. Bill is frantic.
"Where--where did Barnaby say he saw it again?" He pants.
You point in the general direction as you try and catch your breath.
Bill springs forward, and you follow closely. Greenery whips against your face as you push through branches. Leaves crack under your boots as you race through. Bowtruckles scatter above. Until finally, you emerge into a clearing--
--and see Charlie, alone, holding a steak out in front of him.
Bill sighs.
"Bill?" Charlie looks up. "Oh, crap. Did I lose track of time?"
"Yes!" He marches forward to his younger brother and inspects him. "You had me worried sick! I thought you were dragon bait."
Charlie shakes his head. "No, unfortunately not."
Bill spits. "Unfortunately?!"
"Well-- you know, Barnaby said that Kettleburn's dragon escaped, and so I was hoping to see it-- I didn't mean to worry anybody--"
Charlie continues, and Bill begins lecturing him, but you notice the Bowtruckles and the Fairies have suddenly begun to hide.
"Um, boys?"
They don't hear you.
"Why would you go looking for a dragon ALONE?"
"Well, Barnaby said it's green, so it's probably only a Welsh Green. They're mostly harmless--"
The leaves on the trees begin to shake.
"Boys," you say a bit louder. "I think--"
ROAARR!!
A huge dragon booms into the clearing, the force of its wings knocking everyone over as it lands.
Bill and Charlie scramble back.
"Oh crap," Charlie mutters.
"Charlies? You said Welsh Greens are harmless, right?"
Charlie shakes his head. "This isn't a Green. It's a Norwegian Ridgeback. And she seems hungry."
The dragon swishes its tail and cuts through a row of trees like they're made of butter. They groan as they fall to the forest floor.
You hurry and scramble to your feet.
"Charlie!" Bill cries. "Throw it the bloody steak at it so we can get away!"
Charlie tosses the steak forward, but the dragon screeches, uninterested. It takes a step forward.
Bill tries to draw his wand.
You leap forward, between the dragon and the boys. You hold both palms open towards the dragon.
"[Y/N]?!" Bill shouts. "Move! You'll get killed!"
You ignore him and keep your eyes solely on the dragon.
"We mean you no harm," you say in draconic.
The dragon swishes its tail, agitated. It snorts, and steam furls out of its nostrils.
"Why are you upset?" You try again.
"[Y/N]?" Charlie asks. You hear the two boys moving to their feet behind you. "What's going on?"
Finally, the dragon lowers its head to you. A low growl rumbles from its throat.
You swallow. "She--she's upset," you explain, "because some First Year let her out of Care for Creatures. She misses Kettleburn."
You briefly look behind you and see that Bill's jaw has dropped, dumbfounded, and Charlie's eyes are twinkling.
"Are you a dovahkiin-tongue, [Y/N]?! Why did you never tell me this before?!"
Bill punches him on the arm.
You turn your attention back to the dragon, and inch forward, your palms still open. "We can take you back to Kettleburn. He will probably feed you there, too. We just need you to stay calm."
The dragon narrows its eyes at you, its nostrils flaring again. But then, it nods.
You all sigh with relief.
~~~~
Under your guidance, the Weasley boys manage to heard the Norwegian Ridgeback back into Care for Magical Creatures. Kettleburn asked Bill, as the senior student, to help him feed the beast. Bill obeyed, but promised to give Charlie a stern talking-to later.
You and Charlie watch as they disappear behind the treeline.
Finally, Charlie turns to you and grabs your hands.
"[Y/N]!" He exclaims. "That was brilliant! Why didn't you tell me you could speak to dragons!?"
Your face turns hot. You blink, your mind going blank.
Charlie's hands are warm around yours. He's beaming.
"Um," you try, "I. I guess I always thought it's weird, so I don't talk about--"
"Weird?!" He interrupts. "Are you joking?! What I'd give to be a dovahkiin-tongue! That's incredible! You're incredible!"
His smile brightens, and you feel the blood rush into your ears.
"C'mon," he says, and begins pulling you off. "We've got to talk more about this. I have SO many questions!"
~~~
For the rest of the day, Charlie would not stop asking you questions about your unique skill. Not that you minded the extra time with him, of course.
You're both sitting in the courtyard together, the clear night sky twinkling overhead.
"Fus," you try explaining again.
"Fus," he says, but his pronunciation is... horribly off.
Your bite your cheek. "How can I explain it... less 'oo' like a cow mooing."
He laughs, then perks up. "Hey! Maybe it would help if I actually feel the shape of your facial muscles when you do it. Would you mind that?"
The sparkle in his eyes is so enthusiastic, so sincere, it makes your brain freeze.
"U-uhm, sure," you start, but before you even finish, he's reached his hand out to cup your cheek.
You hope the starlight above isn't enough to illuminate how intensely your face is burning.
"Now, let's try again," Charlie beams.
You gulp and feel your heart restart from where it was frozen.
"Fus," you manage to stutter.
Charlie blinks, then smiles his brilliant smile.
"Interesting," he muses. "I think that helped. I felt that you actually suck your cheek in, like in a whistle, for the vowel."
His hand is still on your cheek, soft and warm. All you can do is nod.
He holds your gaze and doesn't move. He doesn't say anything for the next moment-- only stares at you, his lips curled into a soft smile.
"You know," he finally says, gently. "You have really soft skin, [Y/N.]"
Your heart backflips.
And --for a second, under the moonlight-- you swear you see his freckled cheeks dusted pink, too.
After what feels like an eternity, he lowers his hand and clears his throat. "Well, ah," he says, "it's getting late, isn't it? We should probably head back to the dorms before the professors yell at us."
You nod hastily, your heart still pounding. "Yes, you're right."
"But! We'll definitely pick up where we left off tomorrow!"
He bids you goodnight, and later that night, in bed, you can't help but inch your hand up to the cheek he had held so intently.
Pick up where we left off...
You smile as you drift to sleep.

Good Luck Egg Chapter One: Welcome Egg
Tumblr media
Summary: Jace Targaryen was one of the eldest siblings of his two mothers and when he found out they would be having yet another child he was both excited and nervous. His baby brother, Egg, would have to navigate life through their crazy family so as any good brother would do he started creating video diaries to give him advice for the future.
Chapter Summary: When his mother goes into labor early Jace struggles to wrangle all his siblings together to get to the hospital and meet their little brother
Pairing: Alicent Hightower x Rhaenyra Targaryen, Jace Velaryon x Sara Snow, Cregan Stark x Helaena Targaryen
Warning: some language
Words: 5,262
A/N: This is high-key written like a sitcom and is Jace-centric (since he's Teddy in this fic), also muña means mother in High Valyrian
The house was mostly quiet for once. The only sound came from the TV, a humming signaled the beginning of the theme song. Rhaenyra turned up the volume enthusiastically. She glanced down at her bowl of strawberry ice and frowned. Taking the whipped cream topping in hand she added more until it was a mountain that buried the ice cream, only then was she satisfied. She took a spoonful and smiled.
Rhaenyra never felt fully comfortable when she was in her final trimester of pregnancy even when she had done it several times. However, to her, the best thing about being pregnant was that she could eat anything without her wife bringing up how “unhealthy” it was. She could say it was cravings and her wife moved on.
The screen lit up with the colors of her favorite fantasy series. Without hesitation, she took another spoonful. A sharp pain came from her abdomen.
“Ow”, she huffed. Her eyes went to her stomach. “All your brothers were easy, why aren’t you?”
She swallowed the ice cream and turned back to her TV. Her favorite family drama show was on. She had yet to catch up to the current season like her son had but with the rest of the kids out of the house, she could watch her show without having to worry about them walking into the awkward parts.
Another pain came from her abdomen. She gripped the remote tightly. She winced. Slowly, Rhaenyra turned off the TV and put down her plate. She could barely adjust to sitting on her own couch. Every time she would end up rolling. Gods she forgot how much she hated this feeling.
“Alicent”, Rhaenyra called.
The sound of boots clicking in the kitchen got her attention and before long, her wife walked into the living room.
“What is it?” Alicent asked.
“I’m going into labor”, Rhaenyra sighed.
Alicent’s eyes popped open. “What?! But you’re not due yet!”
“Well take that up with him.” Rhaenyra gestured at her stomach. “Unfortunately, I’m running on his time, not the doctor’s or mine apparently.”
Alicent scanned the couch for her purse. “Okay, okay”, panic edged in her voice. “A bit of a hiccup but it's fine.”
Alicent grabbed the purse which was thrown lazily on the floor. “Okay, I have our stuff here. Do you want me to bring you a robe and slippers?”
Rhaenyra bit in inside of her cheek as another round of pain resurfaced. “We don’t have time for that, my love.”
Alicent helped Rhaenyra to her feet. Rhaenyra threw on her sweater and casually walked toward the door with an anxious Alicent behind her.
Rhaenyra looked over her shoulder and then smirked. “Ready for baby number eight?”
Alicent was practically shaking. “Gods no, but let’s do this.”
—---------------------------
Jace wanted to throw his controller on the couch. He had lost another video game match with Cregan. His best friend was smiling but he was not. How after so many times playing had he not improved at all? He thought at least with the new combo he had, he thought he could get one victory over Cregan but nothing.
He rolled his eyes at the TV. “This is rigged.”
Cregan threw back his head and laughed. “Keep telling yourself that.”
“This is your game and console. I wouldn’t be surprised if you had done something.”
“I only play games, Jace, I’m not a tech wizard that’s your brother.”
“I bet he did help you.”
A ring broke through the conversation. Cregan picked up his phone but saw his screen was pitch black.
“Jace, I think it’s yours.”
Jace shuffled through his pocket and pulled out his phone. The word ‘Mom’ lit up the phone. He answered.
His face scrunched a bit in confusion. “Mom, what’s up?”
“Um”, he could hear the nervousness in his mom’s voice. “Your mother went into labor early.”
Jace sat up on the couch. “But I thought the baby wasn’t coming for a least like two weeks. Is Muña okay?”
“Yes. Yes. Your mother is okay.”
A scream came from the background. “Alicent, can you drive any fucking slower?!”
“I’m talking to Jace”, his mom said.
“Watch the road!”, his muña yelled.
“I’m trying to”, his mom responded in the calmest voice she could muster.
“You’re on your way to the hospital, right?” Jace asked.
“Yes, we are. Jace, I’m so sorry to ask this but can you please bring your siblings here? I can’t leave your mother alone.”
Jace nodded. “Yeah, of course. I’ll get bring them over as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, darling,” his mom said. With that, she hung up.
Jace had wanted to record a film from their short film, but it seemed that would have to wait. He turned toward his friend. “Cregan, I need to borrow your car, it’s for an emergency.”
Cregan sat up. “I heard everything your mom was screaming, let’s go.”
“Believe it or not that’s her calm.”
Cregan threw the car keys at Jace, who caught them with one hand. They got into the car and Jace turned on the engine. He glanced between himself and his friend at their uniforms, it was for their film, but he didn’t have time to change. Whatever.
“Do you know where you’re going?” Cregan asked.
Jace nodded. “Yup, theater rehearsal.”
The younger teen was practically speeding until they got to the parking lot of their local high school. It was a weekend so few cars were in the lot when Jace pulled into an empty space. He turned off the car and ran toward the auditorium, with Cregan close behind. The two opened the doors to the building. Inside were other teenagers dressed in costumes reading over a script. Jace scanned the group assembled.
“See 'em?” Cregan asked.
“No.”
Jace opened the doors to the stage. On top of the stage, he saw a couple rehearsing some overly dramatic monologue while staring into each other’s eyes. Behind them was a group of teenagers dressed as fairies with cheap plastic wings. In the corner of the stage, she saw a girl with light hair dressed as a tree.
“Helaena,” Jace called out.
The couple stopped monologuing. The guy looked annoyed. “I thought we locked that door.”
Jace smiled awkwardly. “Sorry to interrupt, family emergency.”
Helaena in her tree costume made her way down to the stairs. The closer she got the more Jace was struggling to not laugh at his sister’s odd costume. She looked as if she could barely move with her arms stuck at her sides where the trunk of the tree was.
“Jace, I’m at rehearsal”, Helaena reprimanded softly.
“I know. I know but it’s muña. She went into labor.”
Helaena’s eyes widened. “But I thought she wasn’t due yet.”
“She isn’t but the baby calling the shots here.”
Helaena nodded. “Okay, let me get out of this stupid costume. They can find another tree in the meantime.”
Jace helped Helaena unzip the back and she tossed off the tree costume. Underneath her costume though was a camo jumpsuit, supposedly to match the tree. Jace didn’t bother to bring this up. They raced back to the car. Jace jumped into the driver’s seat but found that Cregan was no longer in his passenger’s seat. The rearview mirror showed he was now in the backseat with his sister. Jace shook his head.
“Hel, do you know where everything else is?”
“Aegon and Daeron are at Ben Blackwood’s party”, Helaena admitted.
“Ben Blackwood is having a party today?” Jace asked.
“Yes, they didn’t want to tell mom and muña. You have to keep it a secret”, Helaena demanded.
“Fine. Fine.” Jace then groaned. “Crap. How are we going to find his house?”
Cregan leaned close to Jace. “He lives in Ravenhall.”
“How do you know that?” Jace inquired.
Cregan glanced to see if Helaena wasn’t paying attention. “I used to date his sister, Aly.”
Jace’s face scrunched together. “You’ve never brought this up.”
“It was a long time ago.”
Jace sighed then started the car and pulled out of the parking space. As he began driving, he saw Cregan lean closer to Helaena in the rearview mirror.
Cregan swallowed nervously. “So, are you a big theater person?”
“I like it, so I guess.”
“Cool. Um, what play were you doing?”
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Helaena replied.
“Oh really? My teacher made me read that book for literature. It’s got a lot of freaky magic and stuff.”
Helaena smiled. “I know, right? I think that’s why I like it so much; it stands out from Shakespeare’s other work.”
Cregan smiled. “Yeah, it's awesome.”
Jace wished he could be anywhere else than inside this car and being forced to live through this conversation.
The neighborhood of Ravenhall was luckily close to where the school was. The security guard at the gate was nice and let them in once Jace said they were going to the Blackwood’s. The man asked if they were Brackens and Jace said no. He was confused about what was going on between the Brackens and Blackwoods but that was not the main objective. As Jace got closer to the house, he could see cars surrounding the house. The music from the backyard was playing loud enough that he could hear it from the front.
“You’d think for a house party, they’d be more lowkey about it.”
Helaena pointed at the fence, suddenly. “Look the gate is open.”
Jace nodded. “Come on let’s these two.”
The three of them slipped through the half-closed gate. When Helaena told him it was a party, Jace had not expected this. There was a bounce house beside the pool where children around the age of ten were playing. A clown was face painting a little kid, while another clown made balloon animals. A pile of presents was in the corner next to a large table with an ocean cake. A banner above spelled out ‘Happy Birthday Sam!’ in big blue bubble letters.
Jace stared at the scene before him. “Cregan?”
“Yeah?”
“This is the Blackwood house, right?”
“I swear it is.”
“Helaena?” Jace asked.
“I swear they said they were going to Ben Blackwood’s party”, Helaena replied.
“This is a kid’s party”, Jace pointed out.
“Um, Jace.” Cregan nudged his rib.
Jace turned and saw Aegon and Daeron sitting in beach chairs beside the pool. Their legs were sprawled out as they laid back on the chairs, juices in hand. Without a word, Jace walked over to them. His older brother, Aegon was quick to notice him.
“Hey, you were invited too?” Aegon asked.
Jace looked down at his two brothers. Both of them were wearing Hawaiian shirts with cargo pants and straw hats. Their accessories consisted of flip-flops, sunglasses, and a capri-sun in hand. Aegon even had sunscreen on his nose.
Jace sighed. “I don’t have the time to ask you why right, just know you need to come with us.”
“They’re cutting the cake soon, though”, Aegon complained.
“Muña’s having the baby”, Jace said.
Aegon sat up. “Wait, how?”
“I’ll explain in the car.”
The group hastily left through the open gate and shuffled back into Cregan’s car. Jace started the ignition and then turned back to the backseat.
“Okay, where’s Aemond?”
“At a friend’s house”, Daeron mentioned.
“Can you be more specific?” Jace asked.
“That girl he hangs out with, Alys Rivers,” Daeron added.
“Alright we need to hurry, mom and muña should have gotten to the hospital by now.” Jace began speeding down the road. His eyes occasionally went back to the mirror. He caught a look at Aegon and Daeron’s clothing again.
Jace cleared his throat. “So, are you guys going to explain why you were at a ten-year-old’s birthday party?”
Daeron chuckled while looking at Aegon. “This should be good. Go on tell him.”
Aegon buried his face behind his hands. “So, I heard a rumor that Ben Blackwood was going to have a party this weekend and Blackwood is one of the most popular guys at school…”
Jace asked. “And?”
“When we were in class, I commented that it sounded cool and that I could help out. He invited me and told me to bring my little brother so he could have fun too. I brought Daeron with me to the Hawaiian pool party he told me about. Turns out it's a party for his little brother, Samwell and when he told me to bring my little brother, he meant to bring Joffrey 'cause they go to the same school.”
Jace bit his hand to hold back a laugh. Unfortunately, a snort escaped.
Aegon rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Yeah. Real funny. Laugh it up.”
Daeron suddenly stood up from his seat. “Wait Jace, that’s her neighborhood, you’re passing by it!”
“Shit!” Jace gripped the wheel and abruptly turned it without warning.
Daeron who was standing, hit his head against the roof of the car. Aegon crashed into Daeron’s chest and then Helaena fell against Cregan. He immediately heard sounds of pain form the backseat. Jace was sure whatever he pulled was illegal, but he frankly didn’t care. However, he didn’t hear the end of it from his siblings until they arrived at the front door of Alys’ apartment.
Jace knocked on the front door, impatiently.
The person who answered was just as irritated as him. A guy wearing a long green cloak and riding boots glared at him. “What do you want?”
“Is Aemond here?” Jace almost growled.
The guy sneered. “We’re in the middle of something.”
Cregan stepped in front of Jace. “Let me handle this.”
The Stark was much taller than Jace despite the fact he was only a year older. His gray eyes bore down at the guy. “Either get Aemond or move out of the way.”
The guy was shaking when he turned over his shoulder. “Aemond.”
Aemond came around the corner. “Has the food arrived? Shall we finally feast?”
His older brother’s face fell when he saw them. Jace stared wide-eyed. Whatever annoyance he felt before was gone. His brother wore a long wig with an eye patch covering his right eye. He was wearing black pants, a black leather tunic, and a black leather trench coat. By his side was a fake sword attached to a belt. Aegon was the first to say something.
“Is that a wig?” He asked while slowly raising his phone to take a picture.
Aemond looked horrified. “What are you doing here?”
“Muña’s going into labor”, Jace explained.
Aemond stepped forward. “Now? Is she alright? Did mom get her to the hospital?”
“Yes, and we need to go”, Jace expressed.
Aemond nodded. “Okay.”
“But my Prince, we need you for the campaign”, the guy said.
Aegon was trying to keep in his laughter. “Prince?”
Aemond sighed. “Sorry, family emergency comes first.”
Jace knew they didn’t have time to continue this argument and closed the door on the guy.
“Car, now”, he directed his siblings.
They didn’t need to be told twice. Aemond rushed to the passenger’s side while everyone else went to the backseat again.
Jace took one look at his older brother. “Before we leave…a campaign?”
“And cosplay?” Daeron asked from behind.
“It’s not cosplay, it’s for an original character”, Aemond explained.
“So, an OC?” Daeron asked.
Aegon furrowed his brows. “How do you know what that is?”
Daeron crossed his arms. “No reason.”
“Is that from the fantasy show you and Muña watch?” Helaena asked with a smile.
Aemond avoided looking at them. “Yes.”
Jace smiled. “Hey, at least you’re hanging with friends.”
Aegon leaned back in his seat. “Yeah, wait till we tell mom and muña when we get to the hospital now that everyone’s here.”
Aemond glanced back at the mirror to take in those present. Then he looked at Jace. Slowly, Jace’s brown eyes widened.
“Oh my god, we’re still missing Luke and Joffrey!” Jace yelled.
Aemond stared in disbelief. “I thought you already got them.”
“Obviously not! Do you see them in the trunk?”
Aegon actually turned back to look inside the trunk. “Yup not there.”
Cregan looked at the Targaryen. “You thought I would put them in the trunk?”
“I mean saves space. Also, Luke deserves it depending on the day, especially when he’s always messing with the neighbor.”
Jace straightened up. “Wait. Wait. Say that again.”
“He’s always messing with the neighbor?”
Jace started the car. “I know where Luke is.”
“Terrorizing Ms. Velaryon, no doubt”, Aemond sighed.
Jace made it quickly to the house. He refused to get out of the car and Aemond opted to be the one to knock on the front door. From what Jace could see from across the street, their neighbor, Ms. Velaryon answered the door. Her usual scowl was on her features when she opened the door. Aemond said something before she went back inside though curiously left the door open. Not even a minute went by when she came out dragging Luke by the collar of his shirt. His younger brother had a smirk on the entire time as she seemed to complain to Aemond about Luke. Eventually, she closed the door and Aemond walked with Luke back to the car.
Jace lowered his window as they approached. “Do I even want to know?”
Aemond tilted his head. “Apparently, he broke in through her cat’s door and tried to ‘prank’ her by putting blue hair dye in one of her hats.”
Jace shifted to his younger brother. “Luke?”
“She said blue is her favorite color, I don’t see the problem.”
Jace looked at Aemond who was back inside the car. “He didn’t dye her hair, right?”
Aemond looked over his shoulder. “No. Ask him what happened instead.”
Jace turned at Luke. For the most part, his brother looked fine. His shirt was a bit wrinkled from where Ms. Velaryon grabbed his collar. However, his shoes were fine as was his baseball cap. Jace’s eyes narrowed. Luke’s curls weren’t sticking out of the cap. He couldn’t see his brother’s hair at all. It was all tucked inside.
“Luke, the cap.”
Slowly, his brother reached for the cap and took it off, revealing a head full of blue hair.
Aemond sighed. “Yup.”
“I might have mixed up the hats I was supposed to dye”, Luke elaborated.
Jace could only stare. A moment passed before he turned back to the road and shifted the gears into drive.
“Where’s Joff?” was all he felt like asking anymore.
“Mom mentioned that he was at a field day event”, Luke answered.
Jace picked up his phone and began to call someone as they made their way to the park where Joffrey was having his field day. As they approached the park, Jace saw the crowd gathered. He stepped out of the car and ran toward the group. The children were wearing different colors from their respective teams. Joffrey was sitting on a bench with a teenage girl beside him. His brother was wearing a jersey with the name Targaryen on it. However, dirt had gotten on the jersey, his shorts, shoes, and somehow his face.
Jace smiled at the girl. “Hey, thanks for helping me get Joffrey.”
The girl smiled in return. “You don’t have to worry about it, I didn’t mind especially with Rickon participating in this too.”
Jace glanced at her shirt. Team Stark was written in silver letters.
“You guys winning?”
“Well, sort of.”
“What do you mean? You’re always good at sports.”
“Sadly, the sign-up age was from seven to ten, so I missed the mark”, she joked. “Instead, I’m on water bottle and moral support duty.”
Jace chuckled. “Maybe next time I can come and be the moral support of the moral support?”
He wanted to smack himself. God that sounded so stupid.
She leaned close and gave him Joffrey’s backpack. For a second, their fingers touched. “Definitely would like the support next time.”
Jace nodded while he tried to ignore his heart beating in his ears. “Yeah, of course, I’ll see you soon, Sara.”
Sara gave a smile. “See you soon, Jace.”
Jace watched as she walked away by the time she left his sight, Jace realized Joffrey was halfway to the car. He rushed after his brother. Once he got into the car, Jace mentally counted the people inside the car. He had managed to get the last of his siblings. Now, they could go meet up with their mothers.
The hospital was busy when they got there. Jace, his siblings, and Cregan passed by dozens of patients in the waiting room. He walked up to the nurse in the front.
“We’re here to visit, Rhaenyra Targaryen. She’s having a baby”, Jace explained.
The nurse glanced at the seven other people who he was with. “Sorry, I can’t allow that many people inside of the room while she’s in labor.”
“But we’re her kids”, Jace insisted.
This time the nurse’s eyes bulged, and she again glanced at the large group. Jace recognized the surprise in her eyes. He was used to it, being in a big family and such. Now his muña was going to have an eighth.
“I’m sorry I still can’t allow all of you inside during the labor.”
“What about like two of us?” He asked.
“Okay but only two.”
Jace turned back to his siblings. “Guys I’m going to check up on Muña and Mom, Aemond are you going too?”
Aemond glanced at Joffrey who was standing in front of the vending machine. “Yeah, someone just keep an eye on him.”
Jace and Aemond went down the hallway and found the room fairly quickly. Jace opened the door. His muña was lying on a bed while wearing a hospital gown and his mom was sitting in a chair beside her. Upon hearing the door creak open they both turned to him and Aemond. His muña gave him her usual bright wide smile.
“Jace. Aemond. You’re both here.” She reached out her arms.
Jace hugged her followed by Aemond. His mom stood from her chair then captured both of them in a hug.
“Oh Gods, I’m so glad you made it. Are the rest of your siblings here too?” His mom asked.
“They’re in the waiting room”, Aemond said.
His muña rubbed her belly. “That’s good. That’s good.”
“How’s everything been?” Jace inquired.
“Um”, his mom fidgeted with her nail.
Jace’s stomach dropped. That was never a good sign.
“The doctor is running late”, his mom explained.
“What do you mean running late?” Jace asked. “I’ve been running around trying to get everyone here, if anything I should be considered running late. How is he running late?”
“There was an accident on the highway and he’s stuck in traffic”, his muña expressed wearily.
“Wait but if he’s not here what happens?” Aemond asked.
“The nurses will have to help”, his muña said.
Jace scoffed. “So, the guy who we’ve been seeing for nine months for this exact delivery isn’t even here?”
“Jace, it's fine I’ve done this before. You have one example here and the others in the waiting room. I’ll be fine.”
She winced for a moment. “Just wait outside, don’t worry about me.”
Jace begrudgingly went outside and Aemond closed the door behind them. When they walked back into the waiting room, Jace excused himself and went outside toward the vending machine. Outside was fairly empty. Jace wanted to hit the machine, shake it, anything. He couldn’t just stand there and be useless when something bad might happen to his muña.
He wanted the machine to just swallow his dollar and give nothing back. He wanted a reason to take out his anger on the machine. That didn’t happen. The machine dropped a bag of candy. Jace roughly pulled it out.
“Didn’t know you were that serious about candy.”
Jace turned around to see Cregan had followed him.
“Shouldn’t you be in the waiting room?” Jace asked.
“Shouldn’t you? It’s your family.”
Jace looked away. “I just needed a minute.”
“Something happen?”
“You shouldn’t worry about it. I already dragged you into enough as is.”
“Okay, first of all, drop the bullshit, Jace. I let you take my car and went to go with you. I wasn’t dragged into anything. Call me crazy but I like hanging out with you and your family. And also, as your future brother-in-law-”
Jace scoffed.
Cregan looked offended but only cleared his throat. “I repeat as your future brother-in-law, your family is going to be my family too, so they concern me too.”
Jace shook his head with an amused smile. “Right your future mother-in-laws.”
“Exactly. So, what’s up?”
Jace shifted his gaze. “The doctor’s running late.”
“How late?”
“Might not get here in time late.”
“Crap. Okay. Okay. What’s his name?”
“Dr. Gerardys. Why?”
“Jace, just let me handle it,” Cregan assured.
Jace made a face. “What are you going to do?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“Everything you say makes me even more worried.”
Cregan put his hand on Jace’s shoulder. “Jace, for once let me help you.”
“Fine just don’t do anything like…illegal.”
“Says the one that made an illegal U-turn earlier.”
“That was a different scenario.”
Cregan rolled his eyes. “Sure.” His gray eyes shifted. “In the meantime, you might want to talk to Joff.”
“Why?”
Cregan gestured over past the vending machine. Joffrey sat alone in a seat, staring at his lap.
Jace nodded at Cregan. The two parted before Jace approached Joffrey. He sat beside his youngest sibling. Joff wouldn’t look at anything beside his lap, tough.
“Hey, what are you doing here by yourself?” Jace asked gently. “Everyone else is inside the waiting room.”
Joffrey kept his arms crossed. “Waiting for the baby, I know”, he said bitterly.
Jace immediately knew what was wrong. “You’re upset about the baby.”
“Why did Muña and Mom have another baby? We were just fine before. Now when they have a baby, they’ll only pay attention to him. Everyone else is always busy. Aegon likes to go out with his ‘cool’ friends, Helaena comes home late from her play stuff, Aemond tells me I wouldn’t understand his shows, Daeron does his martial arts and soccer every day, Luke is always planning some prank on Ms. Velaryon, and you’re out with Cregan making your films. With the baby, you’ll forget about me even more than you already do.”
Jace faced his brother. “Joff, that isn’t true. Look, if I’m being honest, I was caught off guard by the baby too. However, even if I’m a bit nervous, I know that I’ll love him just like I love you.”
Joffrey continued to pout.
“We don’t forget you, Joff. We just have our own things sometimes and can get caught up in them. But you’re still our little brother.”
“You won’t forget about me?”
“Never.”
“Even if I got third place in the field day today?”
“Hey, third place out of twenty isn’t bad.”
Joff finally smiled. “I won at tug of war with my team.”
“You did?”
“Yeah, I accidentally threw dirt at someone on the other team.”
Jace’s face scrunched together. “How do you accidentally throw dirt?”
“I mean I said it was an accident.”
Jace stared at his brother. “An accident?”
“Yeah. I also accidentally stepped on someone else’s foot.”
“I’m starting to think these aren’t accidents.”
Joffrey giggled. Jace just ruffled his dirty hair.
“Want to go back inside the waiting room?” Jace asked.
Joff nodded.
When they walked back to the waiting room, Jace sat next to Helaena while Joffrey rested his head on his shoulder. Eventually, Cregan came back inside from wherever he was and sat on the other side of Helaena. They waited in the office for fifteen minutes before the door to the waiting was slammed open. A man in a white lab coat hastily ran down the halls. Jace sat up. It was Dr. Gerardys.
Jace turned toward his brother, Aemond. “He’s here.”
Aemond sighed. “Thank the Gods.”
Jace leaned back into his chair. The stress left his body when he allowed himself to relax his muscles. Half an hour went by when a nurse called their last name. Jace gently awoke Joffrey, who had fallen asleep.
Helaena took Joffrey by the hand and walked ahead toward the hospital room. Aemond followed behind with Aegon and Daeron, whose flip-flops squeaked against the white glossy tiles. Luke walked just ahead of Jace and Cregan.
“I’m surprised the doctor got here so fast”, Jace commented to himself.
“A little bit of persuading helps move things along”, Cregan mused.
Jace turned to his best friend and narrowed his eyes. “What did you do?”
“A little bit of persuading.”
“What did you do? And should I be concerned that it was illegal?”
“I just grabbed his business card at the front desk and gave him a call.”
“What did you say on the call?”
“I may have said something along the lines of a car accident being the least of his concerns if he’s late.”
“You didn’t. Cregan, you didn’t.”
“Motivation helps.”
Jace rubbed his temple. “Oh, my Gods.”
“Jace, hurry”, Helaena called.
They shuffled inside the hospital room. His mom was sitting beside the bed with a smile on her features. She gestured for them to get close. His muña was sweaty with her hair slightly tied as she held a bundle in her arms. Her eyes gleamed when she saw them enter the room.
“Kids, come over here”, she beckoned. “Come meet your baby brother.”
They approached her side. Jace smiled when he saw him. The blue blanket did little to hide his face. His tiny cheeks were red and round. His eyes were closed shut as he slept. His fingers were wrapped around his muña’s gown. Small strands of light hair were on the top of his head.
“Do you have a name for him?” Jace asked softly.
“We were actually talking about that”, his mom replied.
His muña scoffed playfully. “We can think about that later, let’s get a picture of the whole family.”
His mom scanned the room. “Oh, Gods where did I put that camera?”
Cregan grabbed the camera from a seat. “I got it.”
His muña smiled gently. “Cregan, would it be alright if you took a picture?”
Cregan smiled. “Got you, Mrs. T.”
All of his siblings stood on both sides of his muña as she and his mom presented the baby in her arms.
Cregan grinned. “Say cheese.”
Jace smiled with his family. A flash went off.
“You guys look great”, Cregan commented as he looked at the photo.
The door creaked as a nurse came in. Jace watched the color slowly drain from her face as she saw them. Jace looked back at his family. He had nearly forgotten Aegon and Daeron’s beach attire, Aemond’s eye patch, Helaena’s camo jumpsuit, Luke’s blue hair, Joffrey’s dirtied appearance, and his and Cregan’s shirts from their film.
“Hi”, his mom greeted the nurse. “Would it be alright if you took a picture of all of us?” She looked at his friend. “Cregan, get in the photo.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Cregan rushed to take a spot by their side.
The nurse took the camera. Her face looked less than impressed with the family.
Joffrey was looking down at their news addition when he out loud he said, “He kind of looks like an egg. That’s what I’m going to call him, Egg.”
Jace gave an amused smile as the camera flashed.
The nurse sighed. “Good luck Egg, you’re going to need it.”

A Dragon Keeper's Secret
Warning: fem!reader
Fandom: Harry Potter
Word count : 1102
Characters: Charlie, reader, Molly and Arthur
Note: Charlie’s definitely my husband ! Tell me if you have a request
Tumblr media
Charlie Weasley had been in Romania for years, tending to the dragons that called the dragon sanctuary their home. He was passionate about his job and took pride in being a dragon keeper. But there was something else that he kept hidden from the rest of the world - his secret girlfriend.
Y/N had been in a relationship with Charlie for over a year now, but they kept it a secret due to his job and the dangers that came with it. They only saw each other when it was safe, and they treasured every moment they had together.
One day, Charlie received a letter from his mother, Molly Weasley, saying that she and his father, Arthur, would be visiting him in Romania. Charlie was excited to see his parents, but he also knew that he needed to tell Y/N about the visit. He sent her a letter, asking her to come to the sanctuary the day before his parents arrived so that they could spend some time together.
Y/N arrived at the sanctuary just as the sun was setting. Charlie was waiting for her, and he greeted her with a warm embrace. They spent the evening together, talking and laughing, enjoying each other's company.
As the night wore on, Charlie knew that he had to tell Y/N about his parents' visit. He took a deep breath and said, "My parents are coming tomorrow. They're going to be here for a few days."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, but she managed a small smile. "That's great, Charlie. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to see you."
Charlie hesitated for a moment before saying, "There's something else. They don't know about us, and I don't want to keep it a secret anymore. I want them to know about you, about us."
Y/N's heart raced as she took in what he was saying. She knew that it was risky, but she also knew that she loved him and that she couldn't keep their relationship a secret forever. "Okay," she said softly. "I'll stay and meet them."
The next day, Charlie's parents arrived at the sanctuary, and he introduced them to Y/N. Molly Weasley was surprised to see a young woman at the sanctuary, but she welcomed her warmly. Y/N was nervous, but she tried to make a good impression, and she felt relieved when Charlie's parents seemed to like her.
For the next few days, Y/N spent time with Charlie and his parents, getting to know them better. She enjoyed spending time with them, but she couldn't help feeling anxious about what would happen when they left.
On the last day of their visit, Y/N was helping Charlie prepare the dragons for a flight when Molly Weasley came to see them. "Charlie, can I speak with you for a moment?" she said, her tone serious.
Charlie looked at Y/N before following his mother to a quiet corner of the sanctuary. Molly looked at him with concern in her eyes. "Charlie, I saw the way you and Y/N look at each other. Are you two in a relationship?"
Charlie felt his face grow hot as he realized that his mother had figured out their secret. "Yes, Mum. We've been together for over a year now."
Molly sighed heavily before saying, "Charlie, you know how dangerous your job is. I don't want Y/N to get hurt because of it."
Charlie took a deep breath before responding, "I know, Mum. But Y/N is strong, and she knows the risks. We love each other, and we're willing to take that risk."
Molly looked at her son for a long moment before nodding slowly. "Okay, Charlie. I trust you. Just be careful, both of you, okay ?”
Charlie felt a sense of relief wash over him. His mother's acceptance meant the world to him, and he knew that having her support would make their relationship easier in the long run.
Molly smiled warmly at her son and placed a hand on his cheek. "I just want you to be happy, Charlie. If Y/N makes you happy, then that's all that matters to me."
Charlie's heart swelled with gratitude, and he pulled his mother into a tight embrace. "Thank you, Mum. You have no idea how much this means to me."
As they returned to the main area of the sanctuary, Charlie couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of freedom. No longer burdened by the weight of their secret, he and Y/N could now openly share their love and support for one another.
Y/N noticed the relieved expression on Charlie's face as he approached her. "What did your mother say?" she asked, a mix of curiosity and apprehension in her voice.
Charlie grinned and took her hands in his. "She knows about us, Y/N. She's accepted our relationship."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise before a radiant smile spread across her face. She threw her arms around Charlie's neck and hugged him tightly. "Oh, Charlie, that's wonderful!"
Charlie chuckled, savoring the moment of joy. "Yes, it is. And I couldn't be happier."
From that day forward, Charlie and Y/N no longer had to hide their love. They became a more integral part of each other's lives, supporting one another in both their personal and professional endeavors.
Their relationship blossomed, and the dragons of the sanctuary became witnesses to their love story. Charlie would often steal moments with Y/N amidst the roar of the dragons, their passion igniting like the very fire that flowed within those magnificent creatures.
Years passed, and Charlie and Y/N's love only grew stronger. They faced challenges and triumphs together, creating a life filled with adventure and love. Charlie's dedication to the dragons remained unwavering, and Y/N stood proudly by his side, supporting him in his passion.
Their love story became a legend whispered among the dragons and shared among the wizarding world. Charlie Weasley, the dragon keeper, and Y/N, the Slytherin witch, defied all odds and embraced a love that transcended boundaries.
And as they stood together, facing the magnificent dragons that they had dedicated their lives to, Charlie and Y/N knew that their love was as powerful as the very creatures they cared for. Their secret had transformed into a bond that could never be broken.
In the heart of the dragon sanctuary, amidst the flickering flames and the thunderous roars, Charlie and Y/N found their happily ever after, forever entwined in a love that would burn as fiercely as the dragons they cherished. And in the depths of their love, they discovered that sometimes, the greatest secrets were meant to be shared with the world.
Thank you for reading !

Ok, so I have an idea... Yes, it's another WIP but hear me out!
I think Charlie Weasely is probably... how do you say? Smoking hot. And I'm pretty sure he rocks a man bun, so I was recently challenged to write a love interest for him so I made a character but being as I am SWAMPED with stories, I just need to know if anyone would be interested in this story aside from moi. So here's a little something I made up... I might write it anyway though. Lord, I have NEVER delved into the HP fandom before...
Tumblr media
In the aftermath of the Second Wizarding War, Charlie Weasley, the recluse of the Weasley family, delves into dragon rehabilitation in Romania. Renowned for his inclination toward dragons rather than people, he temporarily sets aside his parents' hopes of him settling down, seeking solace amidst his scaly companions.
Despite his intimate connection with the creatures, Charlie and his colleagues encounter an unprecedented challenge – dragons so deeply scarred by the war that the prospect of healing appears bleak. Relief comes from overseas in the form of Océane Laveau, an American witch possessing a natural talent for soothing magical creatures, aligning seamlessly with Charlie's own abilities. The dynamics of his secluded world undergo a transformation as Océane arrives, bringing her distinctive New Orleans drawl and voodoo-rich roots, injecting a new essence into the Romanian landscape.
As they collaborate to mend the wounds of the traumatized dragons, a profound connection blossoms. The dragons, renowned for their lifelong bonds, reflect the growing ties between the two humans committed to comprehending and mending them.
Amid the fiery journey of dragon rehabilitation, will Charlie and Océane recognize that their own sparks might be as undeniable as those illuminating the majestic creatures under their care?

”Whatever the case, that’s the story I’ve heard. The heart tree called a woman’s name over and over again. Especially on stormy nights. I wish I’d heard it myself. I could do with a little misadventure.”
Harwin rushes back through the winding garden pathways, back to the weirwood. The red leaves are fire in the setting sun’s light. A tingling runs all over his body. He approaches the tree, looks into its angry face. Is it watching him now? Can he feel a presence? “The woman. What was her name?” Why should he ask that? Why should he care? Harwin waits a minute, feeling more and more foolish. The wind sighs through the leaves, and he realizes that is probably what he heard before. The wind in the tree, his own fevered imagination, the perfect combination for magic. Harwin shakes his head and sighs. “I’m losing it. Lost it, more like.” He turns and walks away. The wind picks up, shaking the leaves back and forth. ”Alicent.“ Perhaps that was just the wind again, married to his own fancies. Perhaps he just thought the name Alicent himself, answered his own question. Probably that’s all. But Harwin walks faster and does not look back at the tree.

hello!, you cold please write something about Charlie Weasley x Jacob's sibling, were the plot goes around mc's family being abusive, bonus if their house is slytherin
Me: Asks for requests
Also me: doesn’t check my tumblr app for said requests
I’m SO sorry it took me so long!!! I am SO happy to get these requests.
*Cracks knuckles* let’s start with the emotional pain ~
---------------------------------------------------------------
DISCLAIMER– IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH FAMILY ABUSE, PLEASE talk to someone for help <(^3^)>
---------------------------------------------------------------
You splash water in your face. It’s cold and makes the crisp air bite against your skin.
Hopefully the shock will keep the nightmares away.
You grip the edge of the sink, lifting your head to look at the tired reflection in the mirror.
Bags under your eyes. Hair frayed.
He pulls your hair. You yelp. A firm hand presses against your mouth–
You shake your head.
Maybe if you sneak to the Potions classroom, you can make another WideEye potion. Anything to try and stop reliving those moments.
“Shut up. You’re worthless, anyway. No one will notice you’re hurt.”
You rub your eyes with more cold water.
“No use just standing here, I suppose,” you murmur.
You inhale deeply, and release your white-knuckle grip from the prefects’ bathroom sink. Time to grow up, go back to the common room and–
Your blood runs cold.
“Funny running into you here, [y/n].”
Mal is leaning against the bathroom doorway. His face plastered with a sickening grin.
“Wha…” you stammer, your head pounding. You must be in another nightmare. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m a prefect, too, remember?” He smirks, pushing himself off the doorframe. You instinctively flinch as he moves.
“No,” you shake your head. This can't be happening. “No, at Hogwarts. You… you were sent to prison!”
Your older cousin clicks his tongue. “Ah, [y/n], you were never the brightest one, eh? Family’s sent me to take you home.”
He takes a step forward and you back up against the sink.
You shake your head. “I…I’m not a scared little girl anymore!”
You draw your wand, hoping that helps the statement become more true. But your cousin's a Death Eater. And tried to force you to be one, too. Like so many others in your family. What could you possibly do to ward him off?
Mal laughs. “And what will you do with that?” He sneers.
You clench your hand around the wand. “Petrificus Totalus!”
A burst of purple energy envelopes your cousin. You wait, your heart pounding: one second. Two.
He snickers at you.
It didn’t work.
He takes another step towards you, and you press your back so hard into the sink it starts to sting. Your eyes dart around the prefect’s bathroom, searching for other exits, other ways out.
“Nice try,” he scoffs. “Let me show you how it’s done.”
You try to swing your wand up to cast a defensive spell, but you’re not fast enough. Mal has already whipped his wand in your direction, a flick of his wrist producing the full body binding spell.
You feel your muscles tense and your mouth freezes mid-scream. And worse– through your frozen body, your heart is pounding furiously in your chest.
He comes so close to you that you can see the pores of his skin. He clucks his tongue again. “Poor, stupid girl,” he sighs.
A jab of pain in your stomach sends fire through your body.
“That’s for even trying to curse me,” he grunts.
He kicks his knee up into your stomach again. More pain flares through your ribs.
“And that’s–” he kicks again,  “--for thinking you’re good enough to even be a decent witch–” another kick, and you’re seeing white stars, “when you can’t even stand up to your own family!”
He continues on. Between the fire in your chest and the ugly words Mal keeps spitting, you feel your eyes begin to water.
You wonder if it’s possible to cry while under the full body bind.
“Riddikulus!”
Your cousin freezes.
Suddenly, horns sprout from his head. A riiiippping sound punctuates a dragon tail emerging from his trousers behind him.
A small chuckle– one that makes your heart flutter on a daily basis, and is even more welcome now.
Mal poofs up in smoke.
In the light of the bathroom hallway entrance, a robed figure with flaming red hair.
“Bloody hell, [y/n]!”
Charlie Weasley rushes up to you. “I was helping some of the professors search for a boggart–” you watch his eyes search you up and down, assessing the damage “--thank goodness I found you in time!”
He taps his wand on your chest. “Episkey.”
The bind is released and you fall forward.
Charlie catches you before you can hit the bathroom floor.
And you break down.
Charlie blinks. You clutch the fabric of his sweater in your fists, trying to catch your breath. But all you can do is sob.
Charlie quickly recovers, bringing his arms around you and pulling you close. “Hey, hey, [y/n]. It’s alright. I’m here now.”
You nod into him, hiccupping. Tears and snot stain his Weasley sweater.
He rubs your back, shushing you sweet nothings, giving you time to catch your breath. You realize, too, that his episkey is at work, healing what probably would have been bruised ribs.
“Thank you,” you finally manage, looking up to him.
He offers you a soft smile and wipes a tear from your cheek. “Are you alright?”
You have to stop yourself from the automatic answer: yes, I’ll be fine. But that’s the cursebreaker, the one that can do anything, who always has to save the day.
Charlie knows the real you.
So you inhale a shaky breath. “No,” you whisper. You swallow, and your throat feels hoarse. “Do you remember the cousin I told you about?”
Charlie furrows his brow and his mouth creases into a thin line. “That was him, then?”
You nod. Another sob rises in your throat and you hiccup trying to swallow it down.
He cups your cheek. “Hey. It was only a boggart.” Then, his eyes sparkle. “Plus, now I know what he looks like. So if he ever actually gets out of Azkaban, I’ll know what to look for. And he’ll get much worse from me than a dragon tail out of his arse.”
At that, you can’t help but exhale a small giggle.
It’s Charlie Weasley. Of course his version of 'funny' is going to be giving someone a dragon butt.
And, of course he is going to do anything he can to comfort you. Including making stupid dragon jokes.
Plus, at the way Charlie’s eyes sparkle at you when you smile? The warmth of his hands around your back?
You melt back into him, nuzzling your head into his chest.
He brushes a hand down through your hair. You start to catch your breath, listening to the steady beating of his heart.
“Your family is utterly wrong,” he says, breaking the silence.
“Hm?”
“About you,” he clarifies. “They’re so caught up in their stupid traditional ideals, so blinded by their sense of perfection, that they can’t see how absolutely incredible you are.”
You stare at the floor. “I… I try to tell myself that.”
His fingers find your chin and force your gaze back up to him. His eyes burn with intensity. “Don’t let people who don’t care about you define your sense of self-worth, [y/n]. You are the one breaking the curses on the vaults. You are the star quidditch player of the year. You are brilliant at defense against the dark arts. You are wonderful at anything you try. And you need to emphasize your own worth, not anyone else’s opinion of you.”
You feel tears welling in the creases of your eyes. You lean forward and rest your forehead on his.
“It definitely helps,” you breathe, “to have you always saying such nice things about me.”
He smiles. “Well, then. I’ll keep saying them until you believe them for yourself.”
He cranes his neck to peer around the entryway without letting go of you. “We should probably head back,” he says, looking back to you. “The professors will want to know about the boggart.”
You nod, and he lets go of you. But when you move to take a step forward, pain shoots up from the base of your spine.
You cry out in pain as you crumple over. Instinctively your hand moves to your back– it’s the spot where the porcelain sink was biting into your back.
Charlie is quick to your side almost immediately, steadying you.
"Sorry," you groan. "I think there's something wrong with my back."
His fingers dance around the base of your spine, but he pauses. “Can I…?”
You nod, biting your lip. You feel him lift your shirt, just enough to reveal your lower spine.
“Ouch,” he says, tracing the spot on your back. “That’s a nasty bruise. Might've gone too deep. Better have Madam Pomfrey look at it.”
"Alrigh--oh!"
Suddenly your feet are swept from under you as he’s scooping you into his arms.
“Charlie,” you try, “I’m sure Episkey will work, you really don’t have to–”
He presses a kiss to your forehead. You stutter and stop in your tracks, which seems to be exactly the effect he was hoping for. He winks and smiles. That stupid, brilliant smile.
And suddenly, you can’t think of anything you’d rather be doing than letting Charlie Weasley carry you across Hogwarts.
