Petty? Pretty.
Kim Chaewon x M Reader | 🔞 Smut

Tumblr media
You sighed as you put the pen down at the table. It was your final exam for the year, meaning that all your hard work has officially paid off. The projects you made were certainly extraordinary, definitely leagues apart for the company you were in. However, the pressure of coming in second was like a pump shotgun being shot into the back of your head multiple times. You know, you cannot let Chaewon win again this year.
Of course, Kim Chaewon. The school's greatest academe mind since, ever. Always getting the top grades, the top approval, and all the top boys. The latter which, you really didn't care for. But she had the run of the mill, taking the best with her for her own pleasure. Stories and rumors of her taking the university's quarterback spread around like wildfire. She'd deny it, but everyone knew otherwise.
You roamed around the halls in deep thought, the heavy weight of your books in your hand was very aching, but you were close to dumping them into your locker.
"Finally..." You sighed after arriving at your locker and opening the combination, and only then dumping the books inside.
Vacation was on your mind, but you knew the year isn't over yet. A familiar scent was on your tail, and you knew exactly who wears that specific perfume in your school.
Turning around, you found the academic goddess herself, standing beside you with her bag slinging by her side and giving you a stare. "I hope you did better than you did last year, it was almost too easy for me to beat you." Chaewon said, confidently and with a smirk.
You rolled your eyes at her and crossed your arms, "I've had enough of your gloating, Kim. You're an egomaniac and you really need to get yourself checked before you break down once you see I did better than you."
"Big talk for someone who's only ever beaten me once, in a team debate, no less." Her voice pierced through your heart, and it did hurt. Sure, you did never beat her one on one, but you fought her so hard that you'd get recognized and put in the same conversations as her name did.
"What do you want, Kim? Are you just going to ogle your tits in front of me? Because let's be real, I wouldn't fuck you in a million years." She just chuckled at the statement and gave your crotch a light tap using her wrist.
"Trust me, I wouldn't fuck you in a million years too. But there is something I need." That was when you just smiled at her and closed your locker before walking away from her.
Chaewon panicked and followed your pace, keeping up by your side. "H-hey, I just said I need your help!" You waved her off before she grabbed your wrist and sped up to drag you away from the halls and into an empty area away from the students.
"Listen, I know we've had our differences but this is about prom." At this point was already looking at you like she made up her mind and she will do everything to convince you.
You sighed. "Let me guess, you want me to go with you to the prom?"
"Yes."
"I don't think we should, Chaewon."
"But we could win prom king and queen."
"Does that even matter?"
"If it means beating Yunjin and her very clingy boyfriend, yes."
You just stared into her eyes after that quick exchange, but you knew how insufferable the school couple was. They were everywhere, being flirty and just rubbing it in people's noses. It was a sight.
Pacing around the room and opening a window, it was easy to see that this was an opportunity to get your name trending again. But was it worth it when Chaewon's name is going to be beside yours?
"Okay, but I will dictate the ground rules. You will wear a black dress, you will do the talking, telling people that we got together recently and that you were the first to fall for me." Chaewon just looked at you angrily while the demands were being listed.
"Ugh, fine. I'll pay that price just to stick it to her. Just see how she likes it." She may hate you, but she really doesn't like being upstaged, and unfortunately for Yunjin, she got in the way.
A quick thought entered your mind. "Oh and one more thing," Chaewon turned around. "... You're not allowed to fall in love with me."
She just smiled, "Won't be a problem, I'll see you at my place then. Don't forget to bring flowers. Ciao~" She said as she left the vicinity. You were left standing there with nothing but your bag in hand, and shortly afterwards you went home.
_____________________________________________
The drive to Chaewon's was fast, thanks to the traffic not holding people up. Her apartment was still 3 floors up, so you had to climb up the flgiht of stairs to reach her door and give her a knock.
"God why did I listen to her..." You whisper to yourself while holding a bouquet of flowers in your hand as your cheeks fill with a red blush.
Chaewon opened the door and gave you a judging smirk. "For once, you finally listen to me huh?"
Embarrassed, you just looked away and handed her the flowers, which she gladly took and had a whiff of them. "They're pretty, okay? Don't be too shy, you're acting like this is real." She giggled as she went down the stairs waiting for you.
You opened the door for her, and she went inside without a word. You breathed out a sigh of relief and went back inside the driver's seat and started driving.
It was mostly a silent trip, neither even giving each other exchanging hi's and just humming to the song playing on the radio. It was nerve-wracking for you, as she can just say anything crazy in a second.
But then you heard a sweet and soft voice speak, it was soothing to the ear and yet you know Chaewon is never this soft and sweet. "So, this is it. Time to act flirty, you'll take care of me right?" You just nodded at her, "Just behave like a good girl and we'll win your petty prize." Getting out of the car and you open the door and take her hand before guiding her inside the venue.
The vibe around the prom was magnificent. It was themed as a romantic getaway, with beach designs and a drawing of a sunset as the backdrop for the stage. You can only look around as the people start filling in the place and you stare at Chaewon.
You weren't kidding yourself, she was looking spectacular. She left the flowers in the car but even with just one flower tucked on her ear, just looking at her makes your heart skip a beat.
You found some seats for you and Chaewon to sit in, it was in plain sight so everyone could see that the two of you are in this prom together. You put your arm around Chaewon and she gladly put her hands on your inner thigh, dangerously close to your crotch.
"Dangerous game you're playing here. Be careful not to touch anything." You gulp as you say those words.
You only heard a small chuckle as she whispered, "Try not to get hard okay? We don't want you going in the bathroom leaving me out here don't we?" She sure has her way of being very provocative.
Yunjin and her boyfriend finally showed up, dressed perfectly to compliment each other's styles. Everyone was astounded at their sight, looking like the royal couple, everyone was reminded of who they really are.
The grunt Chaewon releases between her lips was pretty cute, she was angry, but most of all she was very petty. "Okay, time to turn up the heat." Those were the last words you heard before you felt her lips crash into yours.
Her kiss felt like floating in space freely. It felt freeing and wonderful. Next thing you know, you were making out with your rival and the event hasn't even begun. You could get lost in this feeling forever, and you wanted to stay in this moment. Somehow, someway, Kim Chaewon is a perfect match for you. The way she holds you, the way she wraps her hands around you, it is truly something worthwhile.
These thoughts were interrupted by the sound of loud music entering your ears once you realize she let go. "...What the fuck was that for?" was all you can conjure up for your first, and possible the best kiss of your life.
"Gotta show them who's boss. And right now, we have the mental advantage. Everyone's looking at us right now." You did look around to see them whispering and muttering to each other about what they saw, even Yunjin was perplexed when she took her seat nearby.
"If this doesn't end in sex, i'm dropping you off the side of the highway." You claimed jokingly.
"Ha! As if you'd actually want to fuck me."
"With a kiss like that, now I know why all the boys want you."
"Is that a fact?"
"Oh shut up, i'm giving you a genuine compliment." Chaewon smiles after hearing that and gives you another kiss. This time, it's even more passionate. Your pants were starting to tighten and it got really, really heated. You knew you had to get some food to calm yourself down before your primal instincts take over and bend her down the table and fuck her brains out.
Once you broke the kiss, you asked her. "Do you want me to get you a plate or no?"
"Okay, boyfriend. Go get me a plate." She hit your balls again as you stood up and you lightly kicked at her feet before walking towards the catering.
Right now, you didn't give a shit about the deal you made. It doesn't matter whether you win prom king and queen, because pretending to be her partner was already a thin line to walk on, but now that she's being very playful and teasing you to great extent, you might not last the night.
You got her the plate, and you sat back down next to her. Before she could even mutter a word you just dug into the food. Thankfully she didn't say anything and just ate.
Thank god no one bothered you two, just having people pass by and smile or even give a simple wave is enough. Chaewon was a tiger in academics but socially, she is so much worse. There's a reason she doesn't have a clique, or even a best friend. She just preferred studying and going at it alone. Even with projects, you saw firsthand how she asked the professors if she could do it alone. She was granted her wishes, and she's done better than all of them. You were no slouch of course but, you're not insane enough to do group work solo.
"Let's go dance. We need to be as cute as we can." She said as she put down her fork and wiped her lips with a tissue.
"Don't fucking tap my balls again, you stand up first." Chaewon nodded and stood up, waiting for you to join her.
Taking her hand, you guided her to the dance floor and thankfully, the music was set low. There were a few people on the floor including the royal couple but the spotlight was on you. Nobody thought the two best minds in the entire university would be on good terms, let alone dating.
Chaewon did her best to act as subby as possible, knowing that it was her best chance to win those votes. She smiled, giggled at your jokes and even started talking to the other students on the dance floor while you roamed her around in the dance. If this was the Chaewon you saw in school everyday, you might've just fallen for her instantly.
"Hey, look at me for a while would you?" You said as you grabbed her chin and made her face you.
"What do you want? I'm trying to win us some favor here..." She said in a quiet but rage-filled voice.
"Is it so bad for a couple to actually look at each other and talk? Come on, you know better than that."
Chaewon just nodded and looked at you. Your heart melted through every wall you ever put up once she did. How in the hell are you falling for Chaewon? You know how she is. You know every dirty tactic and every move she's done to you. You hated how she tapped your balls everytime she found an opening. You hated the way she liked other boys. You hated it when you found out she was absent for a week due to a fever. You hated missing her. You hated falling for her at every step of the way.
Chaewon yelped when you firmly grabbed her waist, pulled her close and straightened her hair out behind her ear. "If you're gonna kiss me, I'd do it that way too."
You ignored her words and just kissed her. You didn't care if everyone was watching, you didn't care if anyone actually wanted to see it. All you wanted to do was kiss your rival. The rival you desperately tried to hate because you knew she'd never love you. The rival you never asked out because she was too busy studying her tits out. The rival you only ever loved.
As you let the kiss go, Chaewon stared at you for a moment. She immediately let that go and went back to being the same Chaewon you know. For that night, she belonged to you. And you took full advantage of that fact. You ate, you danced, you loved. It was all you could think about for the rest of the night.
It was over soon enough, and you remembered why you were there in the first place. You breathed in heavily and made Chaewon put her arm around your waist as you waited for the announcements. You didn't even listen to the announcement, all you did was feel her touches and let her hear the names she wanted to being called. Next thing you know, you were up there with her, taking a ribbon and a crown. It was pretty funny looking, but seeing Chaewon's face light up is a pretty good sight. You smiled at the crowd and thanked them for the vote.
This was when Chaewon broke free. She let you go and went to the car so she could celebrate her victory. You followed suit and went back in your car.
"Well, i've had my fill of achievements for the day. Take me home." You just nodded and drove. It was a pretty slow night drive. You didn't go over 40, mostly because you just wanted to enjoy her company more.
"That's all you wanted? Seems pretty shallow to go through all that trouble." You said.
"Then I'm shallow. All I care about is that I am on top again." Spoken as softly as she could.
"You do realize we're gonna have to break up during the summer right? I can't fake date you forever."
"Then let's break up."
"Fine."
"Fine." She just crossed her arms and sat on the passenger's seat and stayed quiet.
----------------------------------------------------------
You parked your car in the back, you wanted to clear your head space once you drop her off back at her door but you just stayed in the car first, and so did she.
The crickets chirping made the deafening sound of night feel, not so deafening. You took time to process everything that happened in there, and you looked at Chaewon, who seems to be doing the same thing.
"Hey, can I see your cock?"
"What the fuck, Chaewon?"
"Don't be a fucking pussy about it."
"I'm not in the mood."
"Why not?"
"Because... because I'm not sure if I like you or not."
"What?" Her eyes grew wider as you dropped those words.
"Just... let me think, okay? You were out here all night flirting with me like... it felt real chaewon. It felt real, all of it."
"You don't have to think about it..."
"Oh so now you're trying to restrict my thoughts of you? Don't play games with me Chaewon."
"I'm not!"
"Then why—"
"Just listen to me! You boar-headed dipshit! I like you too! Okay?! Is that enough?!"
You two just looked at each other with your eyebrows furrowed and neither of you were able to land a word after she confessed her feelings to you.
"I like you too. I didn't want to, but I like you! Get that through your thick fucking skull." She said angrily.
It was a lot to process. You both broke the rule of not falling for the other. And now you are at each other's throats because you both were confused and angry that the person both of you were trying to beat at every turn, was someone you actually were into.
If academics didn't mean a thing, you two would probably have hit it off at some point. But unfortunately, that pressure got to you both. For the first time, the weight of that pressure was actually lifted and you could only breathe out a strong, relieving sigh.
"Damn your kisses, Chaewon." You joked.
"Oh boo-hoo." She went for you and kissed you again. This time climbing out of her chair and sitting on your lap. This time, the kiss was different. It was more carnal than romantic. There was more tongue involved as you swing yours with hers and intertwined then as the shared kiss continued.
You grabbed her waist, and slowly reached out those hands into her ass. She gave out a lot moan and adjusted her position so you have full access to her plump, round ass.
She leaned her kisses towards your cheek and towards your ear, where you can hear every small moan and whimper she lets out of her mouth.
The hands you had around her ass were fondling them and enjoying the soft cushions they gave you. Chaewon was already getting wet, but you have yet to know that. You didn't want to go over what she considers her boundaries so you didn't move a muscle.
She felt your cock under her getting bigger and she just looked into your eyes. "Hey... we should take this inside."
You nodded and opened the door so she can climb out. You followed her and locked your car before heading up those dreaded stairs to her door. Once the two of you get there, she immediately opened it with her keys and dragged you inside by your collar.
It only took a shut of the door for her to throw herself at you with another kiss, jumping into your arms so your hands can carry her thighs as she wrapped her legs around you.
"Fuck..." you could only mutter as she rained down heavy kisses on your lips, your ears, and even your neck. It seemed like she knew what she was doing, and for your virgin ass, you went along for the ride.
"Take me to my bed. And take that goddamn suit off already."
"Yes, baby." You dragged your feet through the room and plopped her down the bed. You untied your necktie and threw it across the room. She kneeled on the bed as you stood over her, and she grabbed your polo and unbuttoned each and every single one while giving you the hungriest look a horny woman can give.
It was obvious she was having fun playing this game, and it felt like hell for you. Your cock was twitching in your pants and it started to hurt. She noticed you wincing and took off the polo before unbuckling the belt in your pants.
Her head was dangerously close to your cock and your hand moved itself to brush her hair and hold it down to your crotch, which was her eye-level. She pulled it all down and your cock sprung to hit her nose.
"Ow..." she said as she grabbed the hard cock in her hands, smiling.
"Your hands are pretty nice..."
"It fits your cock really well." She giggled and hummed as she dragged her hand down the length of your cock as you moan out quietly. She knew not to put too much pressure and she knew the perfect way to touch your cock and give you the pleasure your body is used to.
All you could do was grab her hair and turn it into a makeshift ponytail, where she smirked. "You know what it means when a guy does that to a girl right?"
"I think so. Do I get a guess?"
"No. You just get to feel your consequences." Her lips enveloped itself around the head of your cock, and the heat from her mouth makes you hold on the ponytail tighter.
She looks up at you as she takes your cock in painfully slow, licking along the way. You were panicking as the pleasure was getting too much for you, and Chaewon was just getting started. You didn't want to be a 10-second wonder.
She kept working around your cock, drenching it in her spit and sucking it like it was her final project. She's making sure it felt perfect.
Your legs were shaking at this point, your cheeks turning red at the possibility of you not being able to control yourself and not cum in her mouth. These sensations got you to let her hair go and put your hand on the wall nearby so you won't fall down.
Chaewon dragged her mouth down to the last inch of your cock, and tightly pulled out giving your cock a light lick at the end before she sat up and looked at you. "You're gonna cum, aren't you?"
"I'm trying so hard not to." You decided to be honest with her.
She pulled your waist down so you're sitting beside her. She gave you a smile and said, "Cum inside my mouth. I really want to know how nerd tastes." She giggled as she went down on your cock again, not holding out anymore and giving you the most sloppy and disgustingly heavenly blowjob you've ever had.
Her tongue was circling around your length as she bobbed her head up and down. You couldn't even speak due to how good she was sucking your cock. All you could do was grip her sheets and moan out her name again and again.
Her lips kissed your underside, and her free hand gave your balls some love, fondling them. She took your cock inside again and deepthroated every inch you can give her.
She was blushing. She enjoyed sucking cock, especially if that cock belonged to someone she knew on a personal level from many years ago. Sure, it was all on hatred, but she knew you better than anyone, and that turned her on even more.
Your cock was twitching in her mouth, she knew you weren't gonna last longer, so she pumped and sucked and the same time, and that was all it took for you to explode.
"M-ngmhHgh! Chaewon...! mmgh! fuck!" That was the most coherent sentence you can come up with while your body was in ecstacy. Orgasming to the point not even you have reached before.
Her mouth stayed where it was, your cum filling her cheeks as she swallowed each strand of cum, one stroke after another.
When she was done, she sucked your cock to clean it, and wiped her lips off before laughing.
"Nerd doesn't really taste different from jock. But I gotta say, your cock was so much cleaner and doesn't smell as bad."
"That's supposed to make me feel better?"
"Yeah, no one sucks cock better than me."
You sat up and put a hand around her thigh. "So, what's next?"
She smiled as she pushed you down, "You're the first guy to ask for what I want."
You turned your head to look at her and she was taking off her dress, and you were watching her show off her body to you.
You were blushing but the next thing you see was her towering over you, and you get a VIP look of her beautiful pussy. It was shaven, it was perfect, and you wanted a piece.
Your mouth opened and she smiled before lowering herself down to you and sitting down on your face. She grinded slowly as you moved your tongue to eat her pussy out.
Her taste was a new sensation to you. The first time you've ever ate pussy, and you're already getting addicted to her taste. She was sweating and that only added to the tang of her flavor, you dug your tongue deep in her folds.
Your tongue found her hole opening up and you slid it in. "Oh..! Good boy... that's a good boy..." Chaewon muttered while hissing and holding on to your hair.
You closed your eyes and moved you head to tongue fuck her, as she moaned loudly like she had no neighbors. She gripped her bedside and bounced on your tongue as she kept moaning.
"Yes... baby... oh fuck! come on..." She kept hissing and moaning under the sensation of your upper lip kissing her clit and tongue fucking her. You picked up the pace and held on her thighs, taking your tongue out of her hole and focusing on licking the clit fast and good.
"Oh it has been a while! Yes! Don't you dare fucking stop, don't stop, don't stop!" She kept screaming while grinding her pussy on your tongue on her clit. You put more pressure by pushing your tongue into her sensitive clit more and more as she gets brought to the brink of her orgasm.
"I'm gonna cum! Please, don't stop! I'll get off if I want you to stop, okay? Please just... ah! Keep going!" Chaewon says as she reaches her orgasm and grinds on you harder as her moans become more hoarse and heavy.
You kept licking her to destroy her senses and feel an seemingly un-ending orgasm for Chaewon. She got off you and laid down the bed before catching her breath.
"Where... how did you learn... to eat pussy like that?"
"I never did. I only know the clit is the most sensitive part so, I guessed."
"You're a natural then, god damn. Despite being a nerd, that knowledge came in handy. Try using that knowledge to beat me next year okay?"
"What if I beg you to lose for once?"
"That's a price you don't wanna know." She smirked as she recovers.
"More pussy eating?"
"I have a list of demands. I'd rather show them to you before we start school next year."
"Good. But we're not done here Chae." You show her your hardened cock once again, showing her you have recovered from her blowjob.
Chaewon smirks and lifts her ass a little bit. "I want it deep, hard, and fast. None of that slow, methodical, romantic bullshit."
"You got it." You lined yourself up behind her and didn't even hesitate to stroke your cock and slide it deep in her.
"Mmph! Good! Just like that." All Chaewon could do was moan on her pillow as you started picking up the pace and fucking her pussy like your life depended on it.
You grabbed her ass and spanked it, earning a yelp from the girl. She kept asking for more, so you put a strong hold on her hips and crashed your cock deep inside her wet pussy again and again and again.
The sound of your sex was echoing across the room, it was erotic and accompanied with her moans after every thrust, it was truly music to your ears.
"Yes! Your cock is so big inside me! I love every single inCh of it! Mmm!"
Slapping her ass, you kept your mouth open and joined her moaning. "Good god Chaewon, your pussy is so good! So wet and so fucking delicious." You gave her ass another slap.
"Ah! So it is! Fuck I wanna fuck you again and again. Please, make me cum again, make me yours and I won't ever be a bitch around you again!"
"Good girl, I like that." You pulled her arms back into you and grabbed her head so your face is buried in her neck while you fuck her from behind.
"F-Fuck! Rub my clit!" You follow her command and rub her clit in the same pace you're fucking her pussy.
Her moans get even louder and you had to use your hand to cover it up so her neighbors wouldn't get the wrong idea.
Her bed was rocking and it was making a lot of noise. Between the creaking, the moaning, the sloshing sounds the sex was making, it was very hard to hide the fact you were fucking her like a machine.
She kept begging for you to cum inside her and you keep telling her to wait. You were looking for your orgasm but she was ready to unload hers.
"I'm gonna fucking squirt all over! Please I want your cum! I'm gonna fucking... ah!" You pulled out as you felt gushes of water from under her. You held on to her neck as she gripped your arm tightly while she was squirting. Your arm reached down and rubbed her clit so it felt extra pleasureable to her.
"God! I made a mess..." She yelped before you took her body and lied it down on the dry part of the bed and kissed her hard.
You slid your cock back in and fucked her in missionary. Her legs were up in the air as she was moaning in your kiss. The thrusts your cock was giving to her kept sloshing as the rest of her squirt and the never ending wetness of her pussy was lubricating your cock to the point where it looked like cum.
She already came multiple times and she wasn't going to stop, until you did. "What is taking so long?! Mm! My pussy is destroyed here... you need to fill me up, please daddy."
That was the last straw. The final push you needed. Once you heard her say daddy, your senses kicked into overdrive and you fucked her like a machine one more time before unloading your second round of cum in her pussy.
This orgasm hit you like a truck, it felt good, but once it was finished you feel like you have been ran over by a truck. It was tiring and you were drained.
"I guess... daddy is the magic word then." Chaewon giggled as she wrapped her arms around you and pecked your lips.
"I'm sorry I didn't warn you. You must've been so surprised."
"No, actually. I knew you were tightening up when your cock pulsated aggresively. So I expected the creampie sooner."
"God damn it, you're not gonna get pregnant now are you?"
"I'll be okay. I wouldn't have let you fuck if I was in danger of getting pregnant anyway." She giggled again.
"Really? Even after the kissing we've done earlier?" You sound a bit perplexed at this point.
"I'm not an idiot. I'm smarter than you, remember? Don't feel superior just because I called you daddy once."
"I'm just curious, no need to gloat."
She kissed your cheek and chuckled. "I'm okay, you don't need to worry."
You nodded and pulled out her before lying down beside. "So, what now?"
"What about it?" She looked upwards at the ceiling.
"What are we?"
"Right now? I can't say."
"We just told each other we liked each other. What else is there to think about?"
Chaewon playfully hits your arm. "You need to court me, genius."
"Wouldn't you just say yes immediately?"
"I probably would."
You held her hand and kissed it. "So, will you be my girlfriend?"
Chaewon smiles, and turns towards you. "Yes. I'll be your girlfriend."

A/N: That was rough for a first fic, I didn't proof read this so I'm open to suggestions and whatnot. Twitter is the same handle as this one, you know where to find me.

I woke up this morning and saw I had a message in my inbox on AO3, presumably about by new fic, and was excited to see the feedback.
When I read what they wrote it was a small comment that said "stop using sudowrite".
Had no idea what that even means, so I had to look it up and found out it's some form of a writing AI.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Absolutely fuming.
I want to make something abundantly clear right now:
I have not been hand writing and editing all of my own stories, hundreds of pages worth of personally hand written or hand typed content for the past 16 years, only to get accused of using any form of lazy ass writing AI now.
This is what I love to do. For fun.
I put in a lot of unpaid time, creativity and energy into my writing and editing. The only thing I ask for in return is participation from the fandoms I love, be it via thoughtful feedback or valid criticisms.
But this is neither of those things. This is just an outright, baseless lie against the art that I have worked so hard to make myself, and I won't be undermined or discredited.
Tumblr media
There's anger, and then there's whatever space I am occupying well past it right now.
It's infuriating to pour hours of my love, thought and creativity into original content only to have someone come out of nowhere and try to tell me I've been having an AI do it, especially 16 years deep.
Bitch please.
I also found out that app came out in 2020 . . . As I mentioned, I published my first K/S story in 2008 as Ruby JW on the K/S archives, and my first fanfic on fanfic.net was published in 2007 as luigi_is_stellar.
I invite anyone to peruse my decades-long collection of independent content that I have single-handedly accomplished well before such an app even existed, then come back to me and try to tell me that what I do here isn't authentic.
I don't usually get spicy, but when it comes to the art I spend hours writing and drawing independently with my own blood sweat and tears, yeah. I'm going to get spicy.
I do far too much unpaid work out of passion and love for this fandom to have such a serious accusation flung my way out of nowhere.
It's the first time in my 16 years of writing for this fandom that I've ever been accused of plagiarism, and you best trust and believe that I don't take that accusation lightly. I work too damn hard to let someone discredit the work I do personally in such a baseless manner.
Anyway, that was discouraging AF. I am boggled to learn that AI writing is even a thing, no less someone coming out of the woodwork to try to accuse me of using it 16 years into story publishing when I literally teach academic honesty and writing ethics in my line of paid work as an English professional.
Genuinely: Do you know who you're talking to?
A bit of background on me:
I come from a not-so-wealthy family who could not afford to pay to put me through school -- I paid for that all on my own. I had to earn my University English degree, one of four University degrees I hold on my own work and pay alone, without so much as a tutoring session or handout from home.
Not once would I have jeopardized everything I worked so hard and paid for out of my own pocket as a poor ass uni student working two jobs and doing night classes just to phone it in plagiarizing, not on one ounce of my work.
That was all me.
I've handwritten 3 MLA essays in under three hour exams BACK TO BACK, immediately followed by back-to-back Biology exams & a final lab where I ALSO had to write multiple essays and switch from MLA to APA mode within the span of 6 hours.
Those were all bound in handwritten yellow booklets well before we ever had Google Docs, Grammarly, formatting suggestions, or even regularly brought/had access to laptops in UNI. I did my work by hand.
I earned my degrees in English and Biology AT THE SAME TIME before I even turned 24. I earned a double major handwriting my own work papers like my life depended on it, and you actually think I'm about to phone it in now?
Step to me like that again, young blood. I ain't the one.😂
Tumblr media
Anyway, I digress.
Ya girl ain't here to fight BC y'all know I tend to be very easygoing, full of humour, and I love to joke around in the fandom. I'm pretty wide open to opposing opinions or even criticisms. But this is unfounded slander, and I won't be taking that on the chin.
When it comes to my work, I take that very seriously, and I don't play around. My late father once told me that "The work you do and the degrees you earn are yours and yours alone, they can never take that education from you." I live by that sentiment, and have done so by putting forth honest work.
Be it paid or unpaid work, it's my work. Periodt.
It is an unfathomably disheartening and insulting message to receive as someone who writes all their own stuff themselves, draws all their own fanart themselves, does their own photo edits themselves, edits their writing themselves, and has never even used so much as a single outside beta reader/editor for my work. Not once. The art, the writing, the editing -- It's all me.
Bottom line:
Say you do or don't like my work, that's cash money and we good, whether it's your cup of tea or not.
Butt know that it is my work.
I will not put all of this free time, effort and love into my work only to be accused of lazily ripping the content that I have spent hours writing and personally editing from somewhere else.
And on that note, consider my PSA rant ended.

The art of love
Kaveh x gn!reader (highschool au)
Fluff, angst, hurt/comfort
Tags: artistic/academic reader, bickering, academic rivals to lovers (but art class), Kaveh can't write essays, sumeru classes = honour classes, mild swearing
"Her nose is a little off-centre," you said absentmindedly.
"I know!" Kaveh said, "I'm fixing it."
"Just saying," you said in a sing-song voice.
"Shut up and focus on your own painting."
You let out a laugh and continued painting the hair of your character. Art class would be a peaceful class with the lo-fi music the teacher plays and quiet chattering as ambient noise, if it wasn't for the two of you's constant bickering.
"Thats not how you paint hair," Kaveh said, side-eyeing your piece.
"I'm literally blocking in the shadows. It's nowhere near done," you replied, agitation seeping into your voice.
"Weeeeeeeell, if you ever need help, I'm always here," Kaveh said. The light and cheery tone was clearly mocking you and made you want to pluck his hair out. "After all, I am the only one here who truly likes art," he added, swiping baby pink paint on your right cheek and leaning in so close, you'd kiss if you moved even a millimetre in the wrong direction.
Suddenly, he fell back, off his chair and many eyes gazed at the two of you. You still had your arm extended from when you shoved him away from you and Kaveh was on the ground, a little stunned.
"Aww are you blushing?" Kaveh mocked, referring to the paint still on your cheeks. "You know it's quite rude to push someone, believe it or not, this elite academy's uniform is quite expensive. Though it probably isn't worth a dime in your eyes," he mumbled the last part.
You wiped the paint off your cheeks aggressively while Kaveh picked himself up from the floor.
"You too!" the teacher yelled,"I don't care what's going on between the two of you but it needs to stop, you're both sumeru students for archon's sake!"
"But-" Kaveh dropped his head and just nodded, stopping himself while you simply ignored the teacher and turned to face your painting.
The two of you were the only sumeru students in your art class. Your other "scholarly" classmates had left when they got chance, talking about how "art's a waste of time anyways" or "I have other more important things to do." They probably gave your head teacher so much of a headache that she just let them change. Poor Ms Nahida. Most of the students in your art class were from the mondstat and Inazuma stream with some from Fontaine as well.
"You know you can just quit like all of our other academic classmates, are you just doing art to prove you're better or more cultured than them?" Kaveh asked. "It's no point, they think it's useless and I hate people like you who do it even though they don't like it. Go back to them and receive praise for being top of the class like a dog again." ("Class" refers to the sumeru stream which has roughly 150 students—your grade alone—and is the top 14.29%)
"Who says I don't like art?" you replied coldly.
"Well-"
"If you payed attention in language arts, you'd know it's a rhetorical question," you cut him off. "Anyways, why would I want to go back to them? They're stupid anyways."
"After you finish your painting, please write an essay on it, it'll be 50% of you final grade," the teacher announced.
Kaveh groaned. Hearing the bell ring you packed up and left for lunch.
The cafeteria was bustling with noise. Everyone excitedly talking to their friends, exchanging gossip or complaining about the huge load of work they had. Most sumeru students came into the cafeteria and left, too busy perfecting their assignments or doing an extra research project either for fun or extra credit. It wasn't uncommon to see students score above 95% in the sumeru stream so to be the top of the class
"I'm gonna fail," Kaveh said, slumping across the table.
"I'm sure you won't, art is your best subject after all," Tighnari reassured, eating his lunch.
"We have to write and essay and last time we did that, I just passed!" Kaveh shouted. "It dragged my overall grade to a B!"
"Stop shouting, you're so loud," Alhaithem said, turning the next page if his textbook.
Kaveh's biggest weakness were essays, analytical essays. He could analyse just fine and find the meaning easily but his structure, poor vocab and ability to never know how to write and explain something, led to him only just passing because of his analysing skills. To anyone else in the elite academy, Teyvat high, his skills would actually be quite good but he was in the sumeru stream and to get into a special architecture degree in the university of teyvat, he'd have to suffer in the sumeru stream. Unfortunate.
"Just ask (name), they're in your art class and is top of our grade," Cyno said. "And-"
"If you say one more horrible joke, I'm going to throw you out of this cafeteria," Tighnari warned.
"Fine..." Cyno said.
"Like they'd ever want to help," Kaveh said, "plus, I hate them."
"Don't you have a crush on them?" Alhaithem said.
"Shut up!" Kaveh shouted, "as if!"
Cyno raised one of his eyebrows while Tighnari mumbled a "whatever you say."
"I don't like them like that, they're just..."
~
"Cute? I guess but," you pondered, trying to find the right words.
"Oh so you do like him," Dehya smirked.
"Omg! (Name) has a crush on Kaveh!" Nilou squealed, all giddy. "How cute!"
"As if," you said, rolling your eyes. "And you didn't even let me finish my sentence! I can't find the right words for it," you said, the memory of this morning flashing in your mind. "Annoying? Yes but no...Dumb? No not really...Ah! Obnoxious!"
Your friends' eyes slightly widened, their eyes fixated on whatever or whoever was behind you. Swiftly, you turned around, only to see kaveh.
"Well hello to you too," he huffed.
"What is it?" you asked.
"Could you help me with the art essay and in return I'll... I'll leave you alone?" His heart ached at the sight of the twinkle in your eyes when he mentioned the last part.
You thought back to art class. You had left in such a hurry when the bell rang, you forgot your pencil case. When you had went back to go get it, you heard voices coming from inside the classroom.
"Kaveh, you have to lift your grades," your teacher said. Kaveh merely nodded. "You have so much potential but your writing grade keeps dragging you down, please put an effort to improve it this time?" You saw Kaveh clench his fists as his whole body stiffened. You couldn't see his face but the look on your teacher's was a disappointed one.
You'd seen Kaveh poor his heart into every essay whether in art class or not and he'd always just pass. It was like nothing he did could get him over that C. Stepping back from the doorway, you watched Kaveh come out with hot, angry tear in his eyes. He hadn't even notice you and just stormed off to the cafeteria. As soon as he came out, you went in, greeting the teacher, took your pencil case and left.
The journey to the cafeteria wasn't long but it had you thinking. Should you ask if Kaveh wants help? Or would he see it as condescending? You two clearly weren't on the best terms.
Coming back to reality, you nodded and you saw a soft smile grace Kaveh's lips. "You have my number, does the library after school work for you?" you asked.
"Ah yes," Kaveh said, smiling like an idiot.
You had Kavehs's number since he was friends with your friends and you all exchanged numbers but the encounters after that weren't the most pleasent to say the least.
The day went by fast and with the final ring of the bell, you made your way to the library, shooting Kaveh a text when you reached there. The library was two stories and with endless categories and books from fantasy to ancient languages. You secured a small booth in the corner of the library. It has a whiteboard to the left, a decent table that had a comfortable booth seat on each side.
"Hi," Kaveh greeted.
"Hi, let's start?" you asked.
Kaveh nodded in response.
You two started to plan each of your essays, discussing the meaning behind both you and kaveh's painting. The atmosphere was tense and you held you tongue for the sake of a civil study session. Kaveh accepted each tip you gave him, begrudgingly.
The study break ended 20 minutes ago. Refining your plan, you scribbled notes down to the sound of kaveh's typing. You looked up, only to see Kaveh still texting away. He'd been text for half an hour now and each time you told him to stop, he'd just say "I'm almost done."
"What is so important that has you texting for the last half an hour?" you asked, rather impatiently.
"Nothing, just heard that Sam got her hair pulled out." Kaveh said, putting his phone down. (I'm sorry if your name is Sam)
"She got into ankther fight?"
"Yep."
"Serves her right, she's always been a bitch."
Kaveh laughed and you tilted your head to the side, a smile creeping onto your own face.
"Would you like to hear how it happened?" Kaveh asked.
"Yeah, that girl has been causing drama since her first day. Of course I want to know how karma caught up with her," you said.
"Ok, so..."
Time pasted fast as the two of you gossiped and chatted, work casted aside. Playful insults were thrown carelessly and eventually the librarian had to kick the two of you out because it was closing time.
The next day rolled around and both of you found yourself working on your essays, starting the first draft. Typing away, words flowed as you wrote about the composition, line quality and colours used in your piece. Finishing the first draft, you sighed as you saved it and glanced over to Kaveh who was dead asleep.
"I knew this would happend," you muttered. Your grey cotton blanket covered him while you snuck a small pillow under his head, careful not to wake him.
In return, you took his laptop and found he'd finish your first draft before you so you started editing it. Making little notes with the comments feature and giving feedback to pass the time.
"Hmm...how long have I been asleep for?" Kaveh asked, sturing from his slumber.
"Good morning sleeping beauty, you've been sleeping for just over an hour," you said, neatly placing your books and pencil case back into your bag. Kaveh watched you pack up intently. His eyes were still droopy with exhausten and his hair was fluffy and messed up. "I was going to wake you after I finished packing up but I guess there's no need."
You gave a sweet smile that made Kaveh melt into a puddle of water. He couldn't stand how adorable and innocent your smile was and how your eyes reflected it. The slight rosy tint to your cheeks was all it took for Kaveh to want to squish them and pepper them with kisses. He swore over and over again that he wouldn't fall in love with you no matter what he did yet here he was, completely whipped. Simp was an understatement.
"I also finished editing your essay and made notes on what I changed gave feedback so you can refer to it in the future," you said,"if you don't understand it, I can explain it tomorrow but I have to go now so bye." You saved and took your leave.
"Oh, oh ok, bye," Kaveh said, waving back with one hand while the other rubbed his sleepy eye.
Two weeks had gone by, the two of you either meeting everyday after school or the day after if it one couldn't make it. A week after your final meeting, all assignments and exams had been completed and handed in. Everyone let out a sigh of relief as the final week before summer holidays arrived. The final week was mostly preparation for next semester's topics, cleaning up and receiving marks back.
It'd been a week since Kaveh last spoke or argued with you. With the two of you sharing every class except one elective, it was easy to spot the two of you arguing with each other. Whether it was malicious or playful, no one really knew. The two of you didn't even know but an unsettling peace had made itself home in your classes. One that unsettled everyone because it must've meant something really bad happend, right?
You saw Kaveh receive his score on his essay, the look on his face showed he was estatic. In an instant he looked at you with a big heart-warming smile that made you smile even on your worst days but then he shut his mouth as if he remembered something and reluctantly turned away. It made your heart ache and all you wanted to do was scream at him that he didn't have to ignore you, despite the promise he made.
Kaveh: I got a full score!
Tighnari: Congrats!
Cyno: Nice, did you tell (name)?
Kaveh: Oh um...
Alhaithem: Did you forget Kaveh said he'd leave (name) alone if they helped them?
Alhaithem: Good job on your essay Kaveh.
Kaveh: Thanks
Cyno: Sorry, it slipped my mind.
Kaveh: Its fine.
Alhaithem: Well if that's all, stop texting in class, there's still ten minutes left.
Kaveh: Art teacher doesn't care and you're texting in class too!
(Read by Alhaithem, cyno and tighnari)
Kaveh: Don't leave me on read! Urgh!
Throughout the day, you caught Kaveh glance at you from across the class multiple times. Each time, his eyes would widened slightly and he'd whip his head back so fast you thought it might fall off one day. What you didn't notice was the small pout on his lips as he continued taking notes and the bright red that dusted his cheeks and ears.
Everytime you approached, he'd walk away. If you walked in the same room as him and he couldn't escape, he'd talk to someone, making small talk.
"What if he's seeing someone else and moved on already!" Nilou shouted from you left.
"Thats not helping nilou and I doubt that loverboy would move on so quickly," Dehya said from your right while you shrunk.
"Sorry," Nilou said.
"Its fine," you said, pressing the button underneath the traffic light. "This is where I part," you said with a smile,"Ill see you two tomorrow."
"Oh ok bye (name)!" Nilou said.
"See ya," Dehya called out, already walking the other direction.
"Hey wait Dehya! Wait for me!" Nilou shouted, chasing after her.
You looked to the ground and wondered for a moment. Kaveh had been ignoring you purposely and you even tried leaving a note one time on his desk saying you wanted to talk. Perhaps he really didn't like you and just said he'd leave you alone because he thought itd been a win-win for the both of you. Killing two birds with one stone. Getting a high score and also never having to talk to you ever again. Before you knew it, small tears escaped your eyes and you sniffed while furiously wiping the tears away. "No, no that can't be true. I-" words got caught in your throat. Words that wouldn't have been spoken to anyone in particular. The traffic lights beeping went off signalling for you to cross. You looked up staring at the green man start to flash red as you finished crossing.
"Whatever! Its fine!" a voice yelled. "Its not like I love them anyways!" a very familiar voice yelled.
You turned the corner, to see a blonde man standing next to his silver haired friend. Never would you have expected to fall in love University or that kaveh's words would hurt you so much but as you stood there and watched Kaveh's and alhaithem's retreating figure, as you watched Kaveh list all the things he hated about you, small cracks turned into big cracks as your heart started to fall apart and you couldn't be bothered to pick the pieces up.
Part 2 || Dont read part 2 if you don't want comfort and just want an angsty ending. || Requests: open

OHHH, I've been meaning to send you a short imagine that popped up in my head from the Alhaitam posts. But before I could realize, it went from a short paragraph to an actual little drabble. So here it is, I hope it's up to your bullying alhaitam standards™ as THE bullying alhaitam blog.
I wrote all of this on my phone so I apologize before hand for any mistakes but DAMN. I ADORE the idea of bullying entitled and bitchy characters so much it's not funny anymore (it is) because every time i tell my ideas, my friends are just. Flabbergasted. Queue an audible gasp and a "why would you do that to him?"
Well, with Haitam the story writes by itself: He asked for it. Oh, so he's better than everyone else? Different, logical and centred? He's absolutely not like the other academics, of course. Such an admirable and unique individual we have in front of ourselves!
Alhaitam thinks so highly of himself, it's only natural for me to desire to humble him.
I like the idea of playing along with his antics, testing him. He begins a discussion for a matter you don't really care about, but you take his bait anyway. Patiently, you wait for a chance to get closer to him and his frowned face, and before he knows it, one of your hands begins working its way up his chest. His breathing stutters as he tries so hard to keep talking. His mouth goes dry and there's something a bit shaken in his voice—you merely laid your fingertips over his shirt but your touch feels like a thousand sparks flying. Alhaitam can feel the heat in his body as he speaks, going all the way to his face, and even if he lets you push him against the wall, he refuses to adress what's going on.
(What would he even say? He knows he doesn't want you to stop, but he doesn't want to admit it either)
And just when your hand reaches his shoulder and you lean forward, mouth inches away from his, he finally stops speaking, bracing himself for the second your lips brush against his—But that moment never comes. Instead, you stand back and leave with a laugh. “That's all you get. See you next time, oh-Grand-Scribe”
He watches you go, heart beating so hard it may as well jump out of his chest. He feels hot all over his body, and feels shamefully familiar ache forming down, down his torso. The red creeping up his neck now it's not only caused by embarrassment but anger.
How could you do this to him?
You're the worst type of person he's ever encountered—a walking nonsense! Alhaitam has decided long ago that people like you are absolutely not worth his time.
Yet, he has reluctantly held himself in his hand and pumped his cock at night thinking about you, writhing with rage at the way you wake up his desire like nothing and no one ever has. Even if he hates every ounce of the situation you got him in, he continues to betray his logic when he goes looking for you the next day.
You're not alone when he finds you. On the contrary, the other person is so close to you they may as well try to steal your breath, as you help them hold their notes in your hands as you explain them a topic they didn't quite understand. You guide them with gentleness, as you're known for, but the only thing Alhaitam can think about it's the flush on the other person's face, the way they're staring at your mouth and absolutely not listening to your words. He coughs, so your attention goes to him.
“Oh, hello Haitam!” you chirp, so energetic, so happy and unapologetic despite the way you gave him a hard time the day before. “Didn't expect to see you here!”
You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Helping this student who's obviously not interested in literary theory but looking for a reason to get close to you.
“You shouldn't be giving lessons on a subject you did poorly,” he states. He recalls your face the day the scores were posted, how your confident smile dropped and your mouth formed a perfect 'O'; he's been looking to see that happen again since you began pestering him.
To his displeasure, you laugh. “Yeah, I did have to retake the exam when I failed more than a year ago. You have quite the memory, don't you, Grand Scribe? Good thing I learned from my failure and moved on”
The other person shuffles in their place, slightly uncomfortable, beginning to understand you two aren't talking about linguistics. Good.
“I just remembered I had something else to take care of, thank you and goodbye!”
You wave them off, unbothered, sweet smiles and kind words, “you can come looking for me anytime you need me!”
Then you turn back at him and your nice front drops. “What a way to scare off the students I'm tutoring. You know I need this so the Akademiya approves my investigation, right?”
“They didn't come here for your help.”
“Yeah, but you didn't come here for a tutorship either, did you?”
Alhaitam ears begin to burn a bright red and you notice.
“You know, I said something about learning from my failures. I didn't think I had to give that advice to the Grand Scribe of the Akademiya but…”
Alhaitam breath stutters, and his words come out before he can regret it:
“You were lying when you rejected me.”
Your eyes widen for a second, grin big with teeth and amusement.
“Really? My, I didn't get the memo”
“You're doing this on purpose”
“Why would I?”
“I don't know!” He bursts. “You're nonsensical! You're the most absurd person I have ever met. Always acting like you know something I don't and I know that's impossible! I don't understand how you manage to be so irritating, and annoying, and yet I still can't understand why you, of all people, make me feel—what are you doing?”
Once again, you are moving dangerously close to him.
“Hm, I don't know. Tell me,” you say. Your breath feels hot, all over his neck as you lean over him. “Are you mad because I didn't touch you last time? Poor thing.”
“Don't call me—ah”
“I'm sorry, what?” you blow over the bite you left over his neck, hands moving from his torso to his chest. You wait for him to answer, but it seems that unlike some, Haitam is all bark and no bite.
“That shut you up real quick, huh”
“...I hate you.”
“Don't say it too much, Haitam. It might go straight to my head.”
<3!
ahahahaHAHAHAAAAAAA GO OFFFFFFFF
this is already a long post so i’ll put my deranged ramblings thoughts under the cut <333
i read this like i was watching a football game. full on yelling at my monitor. audible gasps. the pettiness, the backhanded compliments, the CALLBACKS??? like how do i add on to this perfection??
i know what you mean!! my friends think he's so dreamy. i will give them that he's handsome, but like. i think its my god given right to knock some sense into this man. i don't know if it's just because i'm a smartass with a quip ready for anything but humbling a man who would probably say something like "hitherto" with 100% seriousness needs a decent ego-check imo
okay i'll leave you with something small of my own.
late at night, behind closed doors, when nothing but his thoughts and hands can keep him company, your sweet visage won’t leave his mind.
it happens almost every night. most times he can will away these shameful urges. but others, nothing but you laid out, bare in front of him, fills his head.
but a slightly different version of you.
one that finally falls to pieces after hard fought battle that he’s finally gained the upper hand in.
and the spoils?
seeing your normally composed face twist in pleasure, gasping, panting under his gaze. tears cling to eyelashes, threatening to spill as your voice pitches, pleading, begging him to touch you.
i’m sure haitham pictures that pretty little sight more than he’d like to admit.
see? i can let him win once in a while. (in his own head at least)

May I request a Platonic relationship where TFP Ratchet, Optimus, Bulkhead, and, Arcee on how would they react to their human charge neglecting their health for the sake of getting good grades in school? Their Human only does it because they don't want to be seen as a "failure" or "disappointment" to their family. (Headcanons to specify)
Tumblr media
TFP Ratchet, Optimus, Bulkhead, & Arcee W/ A Charge Who Neglects Their Health For Good Grades
Tumblr media
Pairing - Platonic Category - Headcanons Trigger Warnings - None
Tumblr media
Ratchet
He understands how good grades are detrimental to your future, but is it really worth it if you're pushing your body in unhealthy ways just to achieve them? No! No, it isn't worth it! Not to mention the fact you haven't been taking care of yourself will affect your work efficacy!
You are going to stop and you are going to sit down and rest whether you like it or not. He'll sternly say that you should prioritize your health over all else. But when you argue back and tell him you don't want your family to see you as a failure, or that you don't want to disappoint them, he'd argue that you still need to take a break regardless. He's upset and concerned that your family's done something that made you think and act this way.
He checks on you regularly now and asks if you've had anything to eat or drink lately, and if you say no he'll tell you to stop whatever it is you're doing and go get something to eat or drink. He'll also ask if you've taken a break and if you haven't, then he'll tell you to take one.
If you ever wanted to, he'd let you vent or rant to him if there was anything on your mind. Or alternatively if you were feeling like a failure or a disappointment he'd try to comfort you. He'd offer the generic "everyone's failed at least once in their life," but people keep going on after a failure. Just because you may fail doesn't mean it's the end of the world. You can pick yourself back up and you can choose to keep trying and keep going on, or you can give up. And giving up is true failure.
Tumblr media
Optimus
He gently pushes you to put your work down and so you can go get something to eat, drink, and then take a rest. He understands the importance of your education and grades, but you should never neglect your health for your schoolwork.
Optimus will regularly check in with you and ask how you're doing now. He'll ask if you've been taking care of yourself and taking breaks, and if you haven't he'll ask you to. He isn't forceful about it, but if you don't take breaks and it starts getting harmful for your health, he'll take your work away for the sake of your well-being.
He'll do his best to comfort you if you've been feeling like a failure. If you've told him about any of your academic accomplishments, he'll remind you of them. He'd also remind you that failure is a natural part of life, and it doesn't define people or their skill.
Tumblr media
Bulkhead
Like everyone else, Bulkhead would tell you that you shouldn't neglect your health for good grades. I mean, how else are you supposed to study and learn if you aren't doing well? You have to take care of your body!
If you refused to take a break, he'd keep you away from your work and set you aside to take a break, get something to eat, and something to drink. He'll only give it back when you're not neglecting your health and when you're doing better. He'll check in from time to time and ask if you've been taking care of yourself. Now he keeps snacks with him encase you haven't eaten anything in the past few hours or so.
Similar to Optimus, he'd try to comfort you whenever you're feeling down. He'd say that just because you failed once doesn't mean you're a complete and total failure at school, it's just a bump along the road that is life. You just have to keep moving along.
Tumblr media
Arcee
Once again and like everyone else, she'd tell you to take care of yourself. You won't be able to do your best if you aren't doing well physically or mentally. Education is important, yes, she gets that, but what's more important than that is your own well being.
She'll ask you to take a break and offer to go take you out to a fast food restaurant or someplace to get something to eat if you don't have anything at the base. And if you refuse to take a break, she's taking your work away. She's sorry, but she won't let you mess up your health for school.
She normally checks in with you and how you're doing, but now she does that a bit more than usual. When she calls it's the generic "how have you been doing? Have you had anything to eat or drink lately? Have you taken a break?" She's good at telling whether you're lying to her or not, so you shouldn't bother.
If you ever began feeling down she'll be there if you want someone to talk to. She understands that feeling like a failure can be one of the worst things to ever experience, but your failures don't permanently define you.

In your honest opinion, is it worth continuing to watch Step By Step? I've got to about episode 8 and am rewatching the first episodes again because I want (or perhaps wanted at this point) to write an analysis on the show's theme of "work/life - business/pleasure" which is something I've really enjoyed and which has been really well done up until where I am, despite any other flaws the show may have.
That being said, ep. 11 sounds like a complete mess and I don't know if I can be bothered to watch something that's dropped the ball just to watch for a single theme I love and even though I think the analysis could be interesting.
Should I go with my emotions and go and watch something that doesn't seem to be biting of more than it can chew or should I let my academic braincell see if it can hold itself until the end?
Feel free to ignore this I'm just trying to work things out and I know you do analysis so I thought it'd be worth an ask 😋
Ahhhhh. I feel like I’m not the right person to ask about this specifically for SBS.
Generally speaking, I am on Team Drop-It-If-You-Hate-It. I don’t believe in hate-watching. There’s TOO MUCH great stuff to watch or rewatch out there.
I don’t think I hate SBS, per se. I do believe yesterday’s episode 11 dropped a LOT of narrative balls. But it happens to be that MANY people whose taste I trust are still watching AND loving this show, so I want to put in every iota of effort to see what they’re seeing — but unfortunately, I haven’t caught it yet. (I am still relatively new to fandoms — this is my first time seeing the Tumblr world SO divided on a show.)
Here’s my understanding of how the show’s writing has gone down. Up until episode 10, the show’s script hewed closely to the original SBS novel. After episode 10, I understand Tee Bundit and the screenwriters went off-novel to include more themes of macro commentary on queer acceptance and workplace culture. If I were you, wanting to do an analysis on work-life balance, I really think the early episodes alone capture those conflicts VERY well, particularly with Jeng literally working two executive-level jobs to relieve his filial stress of being pressured to take over his dad’s company. This itself is GREAT material for a standalone analysis.
Now — if you wanted your analysis to include issues of queer acceptance in the workplace, then I would continue watching the later episodes, and @bengiyo and @respectthepetty have written FABULOUS meta on this for episode 11, which I think you will find very helpful (here and here and here and here — RTP Senpai in particular is hard in the paint for this show, for which I have mad respect).
So — it ultimately depends on what your priorities are. I’m a busy mom, so I haven’t been happy with the long episodes to nowhere, but I do wanna see what my friends are seeing and give this show my best shot. At least I’m learning more about what I myself prioritize from narrative structures, or a lack thereof! I am an EVER-optimist and will be watching the finale, and would like to recant ANYTHING I’m clearly wrong on with this show. I have no shame to edit and correct myself. I want to be proven wrong that this show’s not broken from a structural perspective—we are all valuing different things about this show.

I never understood all the fuss surrounding the choice of a House by some magical talking hat, so let me tell you this: I'm keeping my House a secret ;) It is more fun that way, I enjoy people interpreting my words, actions, hobbies, and aspirations! I think I could've been sorted anywhere, really. I've met plenty of people that didn't seem to fit in with the typical traits.
There's been a long discussion concerning this topic among some students, maybe you know Elizabeth and her friends? Such observant young ladies! Sometimes it feels like they know me better than I know myself! But let me take you through some of my thoughts. Once again, not naming my House ;)
Ravenclaw: my smarts! Need to solve a puzzle? I'm your man ghost! I'm also rather curious. As you know, I've travelled the world, have decades worth of learning behind my shoulders. Some argue that I am not that smart (which is, first of all, ouch?) but do I really have to have perfect grades for that? So what if I don't know the difference between French, Latin, and Greek? I am sharp at what I find interesting and what I might need in the future. And what about emotional intelligence? Plus, I think wearing blue would rather suit me! If all Ravenclaws were academically inclined — Ravenclaws would've won every since House Cup ever!
Some people might want to put me in Slytherin for, er... Well, stealing a wand during my apprenticeship at Olivander's. To which I have to say: I doubt things like that have anything to do with a specific House, Slytherins are not bad people! I had my reasons and I am not proud of stealing anything. I should probably visit the current Mr. Olivander and explain myself... Most of the Slytherin traits do not fit me. Self-preservation especially, Merlin's beard, if only I hadn't gone to that cave alone!
Gryffindor sounds like a good fit! I was described more than chivalrous on multiple occasions. And once again, bravely going into the cave alone, and then having the nerve to deal with the spiders, determined to get to the end... Although a lot of that was done because Anne never showed up. I was rather upset and now that I think about it, initially I didn't even want to go there alone at all... I am so glad I managed to track down that Auror that somebody mentioned a while ago, hoping to get Anne out of Azkaban. We are just waiting for the Ministry's reply at this point. But I digress.
And then Hufflepuff... I suppose that with trying to get Anne out we can speak of fairness and justice? But patience? Oh no. I might work hard on the things that I like but not everything else! Modesty and Loyalty? Oh, well... Those do not sound reassuring either...
My point is: there is no need to try and sort me into any of the House. I will be in whatever House you guys want me to be~ Speaking of which... If there is anybody who is willing to let me borrow their extra robes for when Thursdays come around when I am corporal — please, let me know! I do not want to alert the staff to my... visits, and since I still look like a 7th year, I think I can pass!
*Richard writes this letter specifically without naming anybody just yet. He passes the letter to his Scribe, and as per their agreement earlier, the Scribe casts Geminio on the paper, successfully duplicating it. Satisfied, Richard proceeds to do separate introductions for both Indi and Anon on two different parchments, finishing with:*
With much appreciation for your question,
Richard Jackdaw

Assorted thoughts on RPGF
Brief background: Ethereum rollup Optimism is doing a massive experiment called Retroactive Public Goods Funding 3. There is over $50m worth of funding (30m of OP, which is trading around $1.75) to be allocated.
"RPGF is just marketing"
How could it not be at least somewhat a marketing game, and I don't think anyone ever intended for it not to be? I don't think the idea was ever that there would be some monastic fasting with silent meditation. With 600+ projects up for funding from 146 badgeholders, it's a big process to go through all 600.
Many of the badgeholders don't even attempt to, they just focus on what they know.
I saw one applicant today complaining that they're being ignored because they're a startup building on Optimism. But can you be impactful if you haven't shipped yet? Have you had impact if no one has heard of you?
It seems inevitable to me that most applicants choose to market themselves, but my stance (as an applicant) is that Week in Ethereum News shouldn't do marketing. It's a newsletter that's been publishing since a few weeks after the DAO fork, so if it needs a case to be made for it, then that would actually be the best case against it.
Tumblr media
We don't have any real definition of "public goods"
Academic economist maximalists are in disbelief at the semantics of "public goods." Non-rival and non-exclusive. Words mean things.
But in this case, I think the Optimism folks again have the right idea to just let people vote for who they vote for, and let the argument about what is a public good for Ethereum (and Optimism) take place in the public square (that is, Twitter) and then in the ballot box of RPGF3.
Is an open source security tool worthy of funding, even if it is by a highly profitable and respected security firm? Maybe it is a public good, maybe it isn't. But has it been impactful? Very. Does giving them some money reward good behavior? Of course, and they of all the security firms had the least need to opensource their tool. Does it incentivize more people to do things in the hope they they are seen as impactful?
And then there are plenty of apps and/or companies with plenty of money seeking funding. Is it the money? Is it the recognition? Every case is different. People have different opinions.
The goal is to change the incentives
It's certainly fair to argue over specific cases, but it's also fair to point out that part of the point is to change the incentives.
It certainly feels weird to see Paradigm-funded teams in the round. They close investments by pitching access to their open source teams. They feel like the richest kid in school who sometimes doesn't act like they want to be associated with the rest of us. They often don't play nice with other VCs (because they have so much money that they need to deploy) and sometimes convince teams to take far too much money than would be best for them (again, too much money to deploy).
And heck, I've pointed out before that you could argue that Paradigm is on the verge of controlling most of the standard ETH dev stack. [Also worth noting that they're the lead investor in Optimism.]
But hey, there are also plenty of other VCs who _could_ have funded some of the amazing work that Paradigm has, and basically none of them have. Really, huge credit to Paradigm for that. Plus, if they control the default stack for ETH/OP, maybe worth recognizing their investment and keeping incentives aligned.
[I assume a response will be that the money will go directly to the devs, but I haven't seen anyone say that, and money is fungible, and I'd argue that (to arguably bastardize the Coase Theorem) in this case it theoretically shouldn't matter who the money goes to, though I'd admit that the default is sticky, blah blah blah. Feels like I'm back in economics class.]
Personally I would absolutely allocate to the Paradigm projects if I were a badgeholder, though probably not that much. Which sucks on some level, because I do think all those devs deserve extreme recognition.
What is the nature of impact anyway?
On a personal level, I ask myself this. It's easy to tell myself that Week in Ethereum News is very impactful. There are some people who love it, because it's the exact product they want (usually devs). Eth holders come up to conferences and thank me for convincing them to buy ETH (or not sell it) during bear markets. But there's also plenty of marketing people who blow smoke up my butt about how it's the greatest and then eventually I realize they've never read it. Probably not even once.
And the nature of opensource is that there are plenty of people who could create businesses but are just horrible entrepreneurs (ie, they don't actually make something people want and they don't know how to fnd out what people want by actually charging them for it).
Ouch, muh newsletter is free.
RPGF2 was a gamechanger for Week in Eth News, receiving a substantial amount that went directly to Andrew and has given him runway for awhile (seems impertinent to say how long and to be honest, I don't really know exactly anyway). Before that, I had tired of the ad model, so I was paying Andrew out of pocket. That's obviously not sustainable.
If I'm being candid, I realized long ago that most advertisers in this space want to pump their token on Bankless rather than get the attention of developers inside of Week in Ethereum. Part of the problem is that once people in this space have money to sponsor, they usually hire a marketing director who don't understand developers at all.
So it's not a great business, and personally I am someone who believes that when the market speaks, you should listen.
So I'd been contemplating shutting the newsletter down before RPGF2. If I'm being honest, probably WiEN's future will be determined by RPGF.
What I'm trying to say is that RPGF creates an actual market signal to evaluate whether your open source work is significant or whether you're lying to yourself (because of how many times you stayed up late on Saturday night while jetlagged at a hackathon thinking that it was important that you ship a newsletter, ahem. Yeah, I was probably lying to myself; should've just done a podcast.)
Is RPGF3 done well?
There are mechanics to the RPGF3 game that seem needlessly complex and unclear, plus the rational actor submits 1 second before the deadline. I see some of the public ballots and it doesn't seem to me like they have put much thought into actual impact, but instead try to spread it around to everyone (possibly because they made their ballot public?). Others I know from previous conversations don't have much insight into what applicants have made tons of money from the thing they're applying for and who hasn't - though some say that this shouldn't matter at all!
I'd also note that there's some tension between "Optimism" and "Ethereum" which is natural, and probably fine. Should something explicitly focused on Optimism get more than something about Ethereum? That's for badgeholders to weigh.
There are also almost 150 badgeholders. Law of large numbers suggests it's probably reasonably good. There are probably people with lots of votes who will not get a lot of money (everyone knows them but doesn't think it's impactful) and some who barely meet the 17 minimum votes necessary to get funded, who will get a lot because those 17 voters think they deserve a lot.
"Comparison is the thief of joy"
What I'm trying to say is that RPGF creates an actual market signal to evaluate whether your open source work is significant or whether you're lying to yourself
Apparently I'm only a few paragraphs down but I'm already quoting myself.
To be honest, RPGF or Gitcoin Grants is scary. I don't enjoy any of them. I know how much work I've put into the thing (now it's Andrew, to be clear), but nobody else seems to.
RPGF or Gitcoin Grants recipients that I've talked to mostly don't enjoy the process. Some really hate it. People who haven't been in the thick of it don't seem to understand how much many of us intensely do not enjoy it.
But...like I said, maybe because this is one of the few times that the market is speaking? Maybe 7+ years of Week in Ethereum News is only impactful as the guy who wrote a few blog posts on rollups a couple years ago? It's important to be honest with yourself, and from the start I said that my goal was that the newsletter should exist until it wasn't necessary anymore.
Kudos to Optimism
At its best, Ethereum is about experimenting with what we can do in terms of collaboration and coordination. RPGF is Ethereum at its best, so kudos to Optimism

10 Biggest Struggles of PhD Students
Tumblr media
Starting a PhD is an incredibly daunting task. Normally at least 3 years, there are some challenges that you are almost certainly going to have to face during the program. Below we look at some of the biggest (and most common) problems that PhD students encounter.
If you are considering a PhD program, or just beginning one, advanced awareness of these stresses may help you overcome them if you ever have to make their acquaintance (don't worry, we have our fingers crossed). Plus, knowing that they are frequently experienced and nothing out of the ordinary will hopefully provide you some comfort. Okay, let's begin.
1. Isolation
One of the most common problems for PhD students is the feeling of isolation. PhD candidates often work alone, having few or sometimes no other people on their project. This happens while friends may be working in offices and in teams, enjoying a far more social side to the 9-5. Predictably, this can lead to loneliness, lack of motivation, and the fear that no one understands, or can relate to the problems you are experiencing.
As an antidote to this, it is advisable to make an effort to get into contact with other graduate students. There are many ways of doing this, for instance, through journal clubs, conferences, or networking. Being in contact with other PhD students will give you someone to talk to, complain to, and will help alleviate these disruptive and negative feelings.
2. Stress
With looming deadlines, large-scale projects, and a huge amount of personal investment, a PhD can be extremely stressful. This is compounded by the fact that everything is always riding on you and you alone - making the highs higher and the lows, well, let's not go there. It has been found that PhD students have high levels of mental disorders - likely related to the high levels of stress they have to endure.
For this reason, it is imperative that one finds healthy ways to decompress, whether through exercise, meditation, the arts, or anything else. Any university worth it's salt will also have mental health services that can be sought if things get particularly difficult. Regardless of how bad you're feeling, it's always helpful to talk it through with someone. No problem is too small.
3. Conflict with your supervisor Another common problem can be issues arising between PhD students and their supervisors. Supervisors are part-boss, part mentor, and the occasional friend. It's an odd combination, the balance of which sometimes can be hard to maintain.
When disagreements surface - and of course, over 3 years it is only natural that they will - some students can feel that they have to defer immediately to the wishes of the more senior and experienced supervisor. Again, here a supportive network of PhD students around you can help navigate these challenges.
Additionally, familiarity with the faculty in a broader sense (which is encouraged) will allow you to canvass more opinions. This may help you clear up a point of particular contention. Who knows, maybe you were right all along!
Funding issues
Most PhD students rely on external funding to support themselves while studying. Unfortunately, this too can be a source of concern. Funding can, at times, be insecure. It has been known, for example, for funding to be reduced while still in the middle of the PhD.
This is a precarious position to be left in and it can be extremely stressful to secure new funding. Ideally, supervisors should be on hand to help with this. One should never think twice about approaching them for advice - it's what they are there for. Still, it's also recommended that students at least have some money saved in case of emergency.
5. Time management
So much to do, so little time to do it! This is probably the mantra of our age. Learning when to jump at new opportunities and when to say no to extra tasks is a skill which every academic should develop if they are to avoid going mad. This can be honed by knowing how to prioritize. What is absolutely essential that I finish today? What, at a push, could I postpone till tomorrow?
Setting aside enough time in your day to fulfill these tasks will help this process and enable you to, when necessary, say 'nope, I literally do not have the time for that'. Rather obviously, it helps to be organized and to calendar your appointments carefully. And remember, it is better to do a few things well than a number of things badly.
6. Work/life balance
It sometimes seems like PhD students are expected to study all the time; to be in the office every weekend and to work late every day. But this is not sustainable. You also need time for hobbies, friends, and family in order to function at peak level. This may seem a really obvious point to make, and yet, many students still suffer from the effects of having an incredibly lop-sided schedule.
Students should always remember: making time for activities outside of the PhD is vital for long-term success. A healthy social life, regular exercise, and cultural activities will be stimulating and fun. And, they're likely to make you happier. Even though you might not think about “happiness” when considering your goals for studying, you surely deserve some every now and then.
7. Lack of institutional support
Some universities are better than others at supporting PhD students. The best universities have extensive programs for helping them, through mentoring, workshops, and social events, while at other universities students are left to fend for themselves.
Graduate schools can be helpful here, as they are geared toward meeting the specific needs of PhDs. Try to find out what kind of support is offered by your institution – there may be more than you think!
8. Lack of personal support
Another challenge for PhD students is dealing with a lack of personal support. Friends, partners, and family members may not understand the worth of a PhD, and may not be supportive of the choice to pursue one. Many a PhD candidate has been distressed by a well-meaning relative asking when they will be finished with their PhD and get a real job.
This is another reason to get in contact with other PhD students, who can understand the stresses you are experiencing and give you the support you need. Sharing these commonalities also helps to make light of them. Nothing builds camaraderie like shared experiences.
9. Concerns about the future
In addition to worrying about their current projects, many PhD students feel concerned about their future too. In an uncertain job market, and with academic positions being intensely competitive, there is no guarantee that getting a PhD will lead to a desirable job (we hope it will!).
That said, research does show that having a PhD under your belt hugely increases your chances of getting one. It also increases your chances of being paid better and enjoying greater job satisfaction. Economics PhDs in particular have excellent job placement rates. To help ensure you get to enjoy all of these benefits, it's sensible to start the job hunt early.
Remember, too, all the transferable skills you develop during your PhD studies could help you to get an industry job, if you feel you have had enough of academia.
10. Problems with motivation
Finally, with a program typically taking at least three years, it's hard for anyone to maintain motivation throughout their whole PhD project. Feeling fed up, bored, or dissatisfied with one's project is a very common experience!
When things are not going so well, and motivation is low, you should consider giving yourself a break. A few days or even a week away from your project can sometimes be really helpful, allowing you to come back to your work invigorated and able to look at it from a fresh perspective.
Maybe when you come back, you see something that before you missed? Or even better, maybe you realize that the work you've done is actually a whole lot better than you had previously thought. This can be brilliantly motivating. Plus, you probably deserved a break anyway!

Do you play Dungeons and Dragons or any sort of similar roleplaying games? If so, what’s your go-to character like? My character is a wood elf who’s a combo druid/ranger! Her name’s Caslandra! I don’t really follow strict DND lore, though, since our game is pretty free form and doesn’t subscribe to any one mythos behind it.
I haven't played DND or anything in the sort of rpg tradition for about a decade or so, and even then I just never really had the opportunity to try one out for more than a few sessions (if that)
But I've played a lot of video games, including all sorts of RPG-adjacent stuff. I've also played (and am continuing to play) Fallen London. And I've read a lot of RPG supplements. So I've been thinking lately about what my character's like, and I've decided to go with the "best RPG character concept ever" as the starting point and from there to work back toward more sensible things.
So, let me list my character's traits:
very smart, like the most intelligent person who ever lived, sort of autistic/neuroatypical
uninterested in actually solving puzzles/questions in order to accomplish goals, interested only in puzzles/questions for the sake of puzzles/questions, so I could get around the game by just looking at the puzzles/questions on its own and then solving them or avoiding them
eccentric in an extremely creative and quirky way
lacks a social life so has a lot of time to sit in a library and solve puzzles
the library would solve all the puzzles for them
The only one of these I've actually described before is #2 – but it's worth describing again now because the others are better described with examples.
What I love about Caslandra is that in a world where the best-qualified person in the world to do a job is probably a world-class professional engineer but is probably most likely a university professor, she is in fact just a professor. She is a full professor in one of the most prestigious academic departments in the world at one of the most prestigious universities in the world with a doctorate (if you don't know the context for that, this is one of the places where "if you are from the Middle Ages" won't come up) and has published over 30 papers on the basis of work she did with a team of brilliant fellow professors.
She teaches a very demanding, very creative, and very well-respected subfield of physics and theoretical computer science, but it's really just a very creative hobby for her – she doesn't particularly care if she "really" understands anything because she has a "creative hobby" so the whole point is "doing stuff and seeing how you can use it creatively"
The only thing she cares about is being as clever as she can possibly be in her specialty, and it is extremely impressive to watch her interact with the material. A colleague I work with once told me: "She really gets into the mindset of a mathematician. It's so rare to see a mathematician lose their composure when something isn't working." She's also exceptionally fast, very quick to pick up on new ideas and new insights.
So I guess Caslandra is a very quick and clever person. But she's also kind of a dick.
the dick comes with the intelligence, honestly. Caslandra is very smart – and also very quick, and can be quite prickly
she has a very weird view of the world. this is not at all limited to "thinking weird things in an academic context" – this is a quality I'd expect from a world-class professor in a "creative sub-sub-field." When she talks with normal people (she is not especially good at this! a good friend of mine, who is an undergrad student at a prestigious university, said once "I think about the math all day and then sometimes I can't stop thinking about how I think about the math and it's kind of hard to get work done") she has these offputting qualities that make her hard to communicate with (but I wouldn't expect this to stop her from being an excellent professor)
her "unusual" ways of speaking can really make you feel like you're speaking to a mad person, because they're kind of "off," not in the sense of being out of step with the common way of talking, but in the sense that they feel like they aren't quite normal
So there you go – the main character of The Eyre Affair, except now she's kind of a dick

I don't write cause I feel I don't have a good grasp on the characters personalities etc, the characterisation of akaashi post is so helpful! 👀👀 Would you do kuroo or bokuto?
a/n: I hope you like both of these! again, if yall want me to do others, let me know! these are across the span of their life, so some may seem college-related and some may seem young-adulty!
[MISCHARACTERIZATIONS OF BOKUTO AND KUROO]
bokuto kotaro.
clueless: i’ve stated this in akaashi’s post, but bokuto is extremely emotionally intelligent. he can pick up on the slightest changes in people’s demeanor or posture, he can tell if someone is sad or happy even if they aren’t good at displaying emotions. he’s not a dumbass -- and he can pick up on others’ limits and boundaries very quickly. despite his ability to read people relatively well, he has no qualms about pushing people out of their comfort zones and forcing them to do things they might hate at first, but will love later. he pushes boundaries according to your comfort level, and respects your hard limits.
only positive: a lot of people write bokuto to be someone ho’s only happy-go-lucky, or someone who rarely gets sad (aside from his moods that are less sad and more discouraged), but I think that almost dehumanizes him. he gets back up faster than most, yes, and at the end of a lost game where everyone is crying, bokuto is dry-eyed. he’s the type to get home and plop down on his bed, face-first into his pillow, lips quivering and eyes lightly watering. there are times where he feels insecure, especially when he’s younger, just because he can tell he’s different from the rest. he has a feeling that people are put-off from his personality, he has a feeling that he’s not as (traditionally/academically) smart as everyone else, he has a feeling that some people find him annoying. that’s why when he’s near his close friends he’s very loose -- he doesn’t feel the need to hold back even a little because he knows that they love him for him. this translates to his toxic trait with his lover being that he feels dejected/insecure if you ever want space. while he can read boundaries, he would really benefit from a lover who has just as few as he, because then he can be his truest self.
love-at-first-sight: he’s not the type to fall in love at one glance, he’s just not. yes, he might get interested or you may catch his attention, but he’s not going to fall in love with someone because they have a pretty smile. it’s not that he’s calculated or over-thinks his emotions, he knows exactly what he feels, it’s just that his heart is a little slow when it comes to falling in love. he’s such an energetic all-over-the-place person that love is never really on his mind (he gets into some trouble with accidentally leading girls on because he’s so friendly). when he eventually falls in love, though....oh boy. he stutters, he’s over-thinking all his movements when it comes to you -- he’s usually impulsive but with you he really, really doesn’t want to screw up. he wants everything to go smoothly -- so he’s the type to plan out a confession and actually try to stick to it. when it comes to something like love, bokuto is surprisingly slow and careful, because he knows how fragile a heart is.
never gets angry: i think most people like to imagine his anger is so rare because the image of an angry bokuto is scary, especially with his stature. and while it’s true his anger is uncommon (because he’s good at processing his own emotions and not lashing out at others), when he does get angry it can be pretty unnerving. he’s the type to slam his fist on the counter unknowingly when having a really bad fight with his lover, and he has a booming voice. he’d never hit someone, but he doesn’t realize how intimidating his physique is. anger is uncommon, but that doesn’t mean he’s not scary. he always apologize afterwards, though.
boundless confidence: i touched on it earlier, that he has bouts of insecurity, but again, i really want to emphasize that he’s not endlessly confident. honestly, maybe in the anime and manga he seems that way, but if you want to make him more human, have more life than a fictional character, you have to create limits or certain traits. bokuto is very sensitive, and the slightest thing can either inflate his ego or deflate it. plays in volleyball constantly not working may dig at his confidence, but he always re-inflates. in real life, outside the court, there are things that keep his confidence low everytime they happen. fights with his lover are one of these things; he’ll get jealous when they leave the apartment after a fight because he’ll worry about you finding someone more stable than him. jealousy alone is a solid sign of chipped confidence, something that someone as sensitive as bokuto gets every once in a while.
overall, bokuto is a lot more intelligent than what people give him credit for. he’s honest with his own emotions and can read people very well, which is probably why he’s such a people person, but he still has flaws. he does not have boundless confidence or have no perception of boundaries; he’s unbelievably understanding. he may be initially insecure, have intimidating anger, etc. but ,after all, he’s human, isn’t he?
kuroo tetsuro.
sex god: don’t get me wrong, I definitely believe that he’s had a lover or two, especially in college, and that he’s played the field a little bit. but i don’t see him as the guy that has had sex with every person in his major. he’s a genuine guy and can’t have sex with someone he’s not emotionally invested in -- despite not being a ‘player’, he’s totally gotten in trouble with a few people because they think he’s leading them on when he walks with them to class everyday.
intimidating: people always characterize him as this mysterious, sexually intimidating guy, but i just can’t see him as someone intimidating. if anything, he may be a little unapproachable because he has a really tight knit group of friends that he’s always with, but he’s not scary. he’s not the center of attention but he’s not a wallflower either, he enjoys observing people and watching drama play out, but he’s not silent and glaring all the time. he’s quite fun, he’s loud, and he enjoys embarrassing his friends in public. he’s the type to twerk in public and laugh his ass off when akaashi or kenma give him the side-eye and bro-kuto joins in. he likes to have fun, ya know? i don’t know about you, but a guy that twerks in public isn’t very scary, to me at least.
prideful: I understand why people paint him as a prideful guy, he obviously likes what he does and has a personable personality, but honestly, he’s not perfect. he often has moments where he doubts himself because of his past decisions, his career one of them. kuroo is an amazing middle blocker, and his choice to go into sports advertisement rather than an actual volleyball league no doubt haunts him at night sometimes. he thinks of the ‘what-ifs’, and he dreams of what he could be. especially since his best friend is bokuto, a professional player, it’s often on his mind. it’s a super touchy subject for him, and if someone were to question his job-choice i have no doubt that he’d get really sour and distant from that person because he’s not sure of himself either.
frat boy: he’s not someone who can’t cook, he’s not someone who sleeps at 5am everyday, hungover. he’s not the type of person to be immature in any way -- he’s got his shit together. i’m sure most people can actually see this, but kuroo is very responsible and realistic (which is part of the reason he didn’t do professional volleyball). he does his taxes, does his homework, gives out good advice, gets up early and eats everything that a healthy person should eat (in all the right proportions, too). he doesn’t even drink often, if anything he’s just a social drinker. he goes to bed at 10pm and wakes up at 6am to work out, no joke. he’s gotta keep that physique somehow.
decisive: i know i said he’s responsible, but i don’t think that translates to decisive. i can see him having a lot of conflicting things going on in his life, different wants and different paths that he wants to take but can’t keep all open. it happens in love, his career, his college major, etc. he wants a lot in life, he wants success, happiness, a good love-life, everything. when he had to choose between volleyball and a life-long, stable career, he was broken for weeks. was he good enough for his dream? was it wise to chase his dream? would it be better to get more kids into volleyball, do what he did, what he couldn’t do? in his love life he always hesitates, too: does he see a life with them? how long will they love him? will they be able to deal with him once they see that he’s not perfect? is it worth it? it doesn’t matter if he’s in love or not, because his extreme caution can come off as very distant and unwilling to let you in, hence his toxic trait. he’s indecisive, scared, yet passionate and hard-working.
overall, kuroo is full of contradiction. he wants a lot from life and is willing to work for it. he has dreams and tries to stay healthy and put himself out there, have fun, the whole shabang -- but he’s not perfect. he’s overly cautious when it comes to making important decisions simply because he can see a future with all of the different paths he can take. but honestly, isn’t everyone a little contradictory?

Prayer and Predation. College! AU (Zhongli x Reader)
> Word Count: 1k
> Summary: As a scholarship student from a destitute background, you rely on your grades to sustain your education. But when the kind, enigmatic professor Zhongli gives you a devastating grade, you can't help but feel backed into a corner...
> Notes: A pretty short fic to try and get me back into the rhythm of writing regularly (ง︡'-'︠)ง. It's also not very good (no beta bcuz I'm an omega /j). Hope you enjoy anyway!
> Warnings: Yandere, implied stalking, manipulation, power dynamics, non-consensual touching.
Tumblr media
"Thank you for seeing me, professor," you stammered, lowering your head in a half-hearted bow. "I'm sure you must be busy," your voice trailed off as you spoke, immediately scolding yourself for coming off like a total sycophant. Zhongli wasn't an idiot, in fact he seemed to be the farthest thing from it - he must've knew exactly why you'd asked to speak with him in private.
Your voice was dry, and the constant demands from your brain to stop shaking so damn much proved futile. Mr. Zhongli's attention seemed to amplify your panic more than you thought possible. His gaze - no, his presence alone seemed to command an overwhelming gravity. He radiated authority even when seated, one leg posed over the other as he reclined in the leather armchair.
There was silence in response, a vile, choking kind. The mocking tempo of a clock proved insufficient in drowning out the sound of your nervous swallowing. You opted to look at his dress shoes, estimating that meeting his gaze might send you into shock. They were expensive, you noted - although, as you observed the moment you stepped into his office for the first time, he was no stranger to luxury. It was decorated with antiques and relics you doubt any normal person could afford in their lifetime, the elegant oak desk he worked at you surmised could pay for a years worth of tuition. It was a prestigious college, sure, but this was something else. His clothes were reminiscent of the celebrities you'd seen on the covers of those business magazines; his coat folded over the arch of his chair, the tight dress shirt that highlighted his imposing physique and the sleek leather belt that curled around his waist. Zhongli exuded experience and wisdom that felt to be at odds with his exterior. You'd decided from that very first class that there was something impossible about him.
Mr. Zhongli cleared his throat, snapping you from your thoughts. The deep baritone of his voice instantly dissipated the static silence.
"I presume this about the grade I gave your paper."
Still refusing to meet his gaze, you nodded.
"Y-yes, Mr. Zhongli,"
He sighed deeply, a sound which made you wince with the palpable disappointment which dripped from it. You admired the Professor, a man wise beyond his years and seemed to harbour nothing but compassion toward his students. Summoning up the courage to face him properly, you were met with eyes of brilliant gold that betrayed no hint of their familiar benevolence. In its stead was suffocating scrutiny.
He held your eyes for a few moments before nodding to a spare chair a few feet away from him. Taking the signal, you pried yourself from the doorframe and took the seat, focusing on not tripping over your own feet on the way.
The professor leaned forward, rubbing his brow with slender fingers.
"I respect you, Mr. Zhongli, and I don't doubt your judgement, but if you'd just give it one more-"
"Chance?" he nearly scoffed. You felt bile rise in your throat. You'd never seen this side of him, almost amused at your desperation. He reclined back into the chair, elbows propping upon the leather armrests to lace his fingers under his jaw. "Do you think I'm incompetent, Y/n? Or perhaps you felt I'd sabotage my own academic integrity for your sake?"
Your chest tightened, tears threatening to spill down your cheeks. You mouthed an apology, hands clenching and unclenching over and over.
"I don't, professor - I didn't mean to-" You exhaled, a last ditch effort to steel yourself. "I have a lot riding on this grade, professor. Please, if you'd just look at it one more time."
Your pleas were met with a hum, outwardly contemplative, yet one that managed to chill you to your core. Standing up suddenly, his stature making you feel even more diminutive, he pacing toward you.
" Ah, that's right. I was surprised to learn that you're a scholarship student," Zhongli's tone had relaxed into an almost affectionate baritone. "Then again, I always thought you were more... remarkable than your peers."
You were taken aback. More than the sudden praise that would've normally left you utterly flustered, you wondered if that information was easily accessible to members of staff. Then again, you surmised his prestige lent him privy to student profiles.
Zhongli came to a stop before you, towering over your seated form.
"Let's not beat around the bush, Y/n. You came here seeking a favour, am I correct?"
Dread planted itself in your chest. As much as you hated to admit it, he was right. You couldn't afford to go here without the scholarship, and neither you nor your family could ever dream of being able to support your education on finances alone. But you'd worked so hard to get this far, days on end of studying and memorizing just for a chance of winning the coveted scholarship - you couldn't let a single grade make that all for nothing.
Swallowing your pride, you nodded. It was slight, almost undistinguishable, but the Professor's pleased rumble ensured that he'd noticed it.
"I'm sure you're well aware that even a gift has a price," you flinched when you felt a finger ghost against your cheek - just when had he gotten so close? "And I can't bestow a favour without expecting one in return."
Bending his knees, he met your level - eyes brimming with unnerving joy. A warm palm disturbed the cold that had settled on your skin, strong digits tenderly stroking the surface. His voice, deep and rich, like honey fit to ensnare flies, made every inch of your body tense as he spoke.
"Let's make a contract, shall we?"

what really constitutes toxicity anyway ?
So you still think Paxton is toxic? Is it because of how he acts in Season 2? I get it.
Buckle up my doods, I think this will be a long one.
Based on what we've seen so far from Paxton's behavior, particularly how he responds to learning that he messed up, if you were to call him out on potential toxic tendencies, he would really listen, admit where he fell short, and make it right immediately.
Now for some bullet power points ! Some to back up what I just said, others to just further elaborate how Paxton has shown impressive growth.
Rebecca is brutally honest with Paxton.
In the first season, she sees past his remark about trying to maintain his cool facade and gets him to admit how affected he truly is by Nalini's comments. The next time we see him, he's at Devi's front door and leaving her a voicemail. In the second season, she reproached him for making Devi do his homework and how it would make him feel about future successes he will acquire going forward. This, in addition to his pep talk with Oji-chan, pushes him to work harder for better grades.
In both instances, he already had some idea of why he was behaving that way (i.e. icing out Devi and making her do his homework), but being dragged by Rebecca made him confront these issues head-on.
Tumblr media
Devi lets Paxton know where he went wrong.
She really is the best peer tutor Paxton could ever hope to have because she also tackled Paxton's approach to school. If this were Season 1 Devi, she wouldn't be able to provide the constructive criticism he needs to improve his academic performance (See 1x03). He would still be apathetic towards school and never really deal with his insecurity surrounding intelligence. On the other hand, Season 2 Devi gave Paxton some tough love by letting him know that some things don't come easy and that he can't always just blame her for poor school performance if he fails. Don't get me wrong, it was wrong of her to shout at Paxton. That being said, she made him understand that he can't keep on relying on her guidance. She made him realize he has to take some initiative and gain some independence. When we see him again in episode 8, we see he actually read the novel and wants to contribute to his group for the trial. He even had a whiteboard and everything !! He's actually trying to improve his grades without Devi's help just like she said. Yet he still wasn't content with his performance. Enter tutor Devi once again with the best Paxton-esque advice ever: Swim to San Diego. Without this extra push, we wouldn't have gotten his thoughtful report that featured beloved Oji-chan. He attributes his first pivotal academic moment to Devi. Who knows how long Paxton would have been dependent on Devi if it weren't for those instances ?
Tumblr media
Besides academic matters, Devi didn't hesitate to tell Paxton that their date wasn't ideal, and even knew that it wasn't the best. So he immediately offers to take her on a real date !! She also wasn't afraid to express that she wouldn't settle just being a secret. He understood that, thought about things, got the call, and realized what he had to do to make things right. Devi communicated what she wanted and why she had to walk away at first, and Paxton stepped accordingly, showing up to be her public boyfriend. It's worth noting that one of the lessons we learned in Season 2 is that when it comes to grand gestures, it's not about the physical size, but how much heart was put into it. And I think Paxton put a lot of thought into being there for Devi. His heart was definitely in the right place.
Tumblr media
The point is Paxton’s mistakes have been brought to his attention so many times, and there has been quite the variety: He's been called out on conceited behavior, wrong mindsets he has about school, how he is as an actual boyfriend ! In every one of these scenarios, he tried to make things right immediately. No defensiveness, no denial, just determination to fix things.
If you like Ben, then that's good for you !! He's shown the capability for sweetness with both Devi and Aneesa. I appreciate that. No problems here. But to compare the two and insist that Paxton is toxic is simply unfair. I won't talk about Ben because I don't want to drag him. This post is only for boosting up characters pls.
Should we determine the nature of someone based on how many times they mess up ? That's unrealistic and unreliable because we all mess up !! Our faves are bound to fall short. That's what makes them human after all.
If we're judging someone's character, maybe we shouldn't look at how often they mess up, but we should focus on how they respond to learning they messed up.
And by that standard, Paxton is definitely not toxic.
thank you for your time, appreciate you for making it to the end. here's a meme summary of this post:

credits to @as-your-boyfriend-devi for the pic i used for the meme !!

“Tohru.” Her voice drips with false sweetness, and her bright smile is equally deceptive. Her displeasure is never obvious, always subtle, but she knows her son can pick up on the hints. After all, she’s seen the same in him. “You could have waited until your career was established. You could have found a nice woman to marry, and then you could have children of your own.” She pauses to let her words sink in before continuing.
"Your father and I didn’t spend our time raising you and giving you a good education for you to neglect your studies. What do you think you’re doing, taking in a random child you found on the street?” There's another pause, and while her smile never changes, the air drops a few degrees.
When she speaks again, her voice is still falsely sweet.
“It would be in your best interest to get rid of that worthless child.”
Unprompted Asks (that are almost a year old) - Always Accepting! @chibitantei
Adachi always felt stilted and uncomfortable talking to figures of authority, and his parents were the biggest examples of this. He had spent nearly every minute of his childhood and adolescence bowing his head and accepting whatever they gave him, no matter how unfair he thought it was underneath the surface. His anger always simmered underneath, never reaching the rolling boil he'd always wanted to unleash. How nothing was ever fair. How he'd never gotten to do anything other kids were allowed to, just because he was going to handle saving his family from some kind of debt just because children were so difficult to raise, so he had better make his existence worth their while and be successful to pay up.
He'd always complied with whatever his parents asked. Academics, food, study habits, hell, even his choice in career, and he'd always done what they ordered him to, because he knew how severe the consequences could be.
This time was different.
Adachi wasn't too far from graduating from university, he'd had a job lined up as a street cop in the city (of which he'd told his parents in only the vaguest of ways before changing the subject)... and he'd adopted a child, something he'd been forced to tell his parents under duress.
When he'd taken Naoto in, he knew at least a portion of it was, besides wanting her to be safe and able to pursue her passions, included delusions of grandeur that he could be the kind of parent he had always wanted. Someone kind and always home and who listened and encouraged instead of demanded and took and punished. He had no real clue how good of a job he was doing (letters to Santa aside), but he was hoping to do a good one to do more than just for his ego.
They'd learned to really care for each other, and like hell was Adachi going to take parenting advice from his mother.
People had always said that he looked just like her. Built tall and lean, with a glint in their eye that could prove dangerous if crossed. And he could see that disapproval in her tone, the subtle disgust she tried to hide, just like she could always tell the anger he kept quietly hidden under his meek exterior.
"She's not worthless."
There's a bite in his tone identical to hers, and it grows as he continues.
"And I have no intention of getting married, Mother. And if you ever had any modicum of trust in me, maybe you would know that, and you would know that I do things for a reason. I'm not the type of person to put off my work except for things that are important. And Naoto needs a parent.
Tumblr media
I know you wanted me to be a police officer to make you and Father look good, but I found a reason that I want to be one, and it's to make sure people are safe, even ones who people like you think don't deserve the safety that my job should provide to everyone."
He could launch into a tirade that would do nothing but make himself feel better (and look like a self-righteous prick), about how she and his father did jack shit in terms of raising him, hell, the television and his study books raised him more than they had, and that he was going to do everything in his power to make sure he never treated a child like they treated him, to make him feel worthless and stupid and so unfathomably alone.
But he's not going to. He's going to walk out and make them work without him, and he's not going to give a damn whether they figure out where they messed up or not.
Adachi was going to do what he thought was best. He wasn't going to let them control him anymore.
He picks up a box of things he'd taken from his childhood room, and stares his mother down with all the unmitigated fury he'd hidden for his entire life.
"I'm going, and I'm not coming back. It would be in your best interest to never contact me again.
Tumblr media
Don't underestimate the Japanese police. It'd be easy to find you out and track you down, and arrest you for harassment. And I wouldn't try and fight the jury system's conviction rate, if I were you."
And with that, he picks up the box and his satchel, and calmly walks out the door, shutting it politely behind him.

Superfamily Fanwork Reveals!!
Tumblr media
THE DAY IS FINALLY HERE!!! All twenty-six (26) gift works had been revealed earlier today! Dive right into the Ao3 collection (here) and hop on over to the Discord server to scream and cry and laugh along with everyone else!
Creator reveals will be next Wednesday, July 7th. Also check out the fanworks below the cut!
A Boyfriend for Dad for betheflame (T, 6k)
Peter wants the best for his dad and worries that he'll be alone when he goes off to college. He needs to find a boyfriend for his dad. The best candidate is Mr. Rogers, his Academic Decathlon coach, but Tony hates Mr. Rogers. Peter decides to try anyway.
A Father, a (Super)Hero. for Sprout (G, 2k)
It's Father's Day in the Stark-Rogers' household, and Tony's had to leave early in the morning for a work emergency. Steve and Peter decide to surprise him with some flowers and chocolates, but can anything be as simple as that for a family of superheroes?
A House That's a Home for Skeeter (G, 6k)
Steve and Tony go through the long process of becoming adoptive parents. It's a harder road, as far as they can see, full of bumps and potholes. It's all worth it when they meet baby Peter for the first time - who captures their hearts and refuses to release it, not that they'd want him to of course.
ace in the hole for Huntress79 (T, 10k)
Sheriff Steve Rogers falls for the new guy in town (and for the adorable boy he has with him), but when Tony's secret catches up with them, will his love be enough to save them all?
basic unit [FANART] for Perlmutt (M, art)
steve never imagined he'd have a family of his own until he met tony. first, it was just two of them, and then he knocked tony up and they had peter. when peter graduated high school, tony was in his labor month.
it was perfect.
bring him home for geekymoviemom (T, 17k)
During the clean up after the Battle of New York, Steve finds a little boy in the rubble of an orphanage. He finds out this little boy is almost as strong as he is, and he knows he can't let anyone get their hands on him. People would do crazy things for a mutant child. Steve vows to protect him so he can grow up as a child and not as a lab rat.
citrus and lavender for captainstars (T, 8k)
Tony wasn’t his. He had made it very clear that he didn’t need some alpha in his life to mess with everything he’d worked so hard to accomplish. Especially not Steve Rogers.
Dying Inside to Hold You [Art] for Infinitywrites (G, <1k)
It was his wedding day. Tony looked over the sea of people in front of him, at Steve by his side, and felt his heart clench. He wondered, for a split second, how he had even got to this moment.
Family Is... A Web of Love for crypticrose (T, 1k)
Following the sudden death of his Aunt May, Peter is, more or less, shell-shocked. Good thing he has Tony, Steve and the rest of the Avengers to catch him.
Finding home for Pookiethefrickinbunn (G, 4k)
Tony and Steve are in an established relationship or married. Peter has been Spider-man for a while, but his parents don't know/have their suspicions. I would love a confrontation scene between the Avengers and Spider-man and Peter ends up getting injured and the husbands find out who there son actually is. Tony and Steve would definitely feel guilty for what has happened to their kid, and maybe Peter would think his parents hate him. Some fluff at the end would be fantastic.
Forever and Ever for Neverever (G, 3k)
"Can I see it just one more time? Pretty please?" Peter hounds Steve, using the bigger man's knees as leverage so he could jump up and down.
"Okay, okay, one last time. But we need to be quick so your Dad doesn't see."
AKA: Steve, Tony, and Peter all go on a family vacation together, but Steve has a couple of tricks up his sleeve.
Head Full of Stubborn, Heart Full of Hope for ChocolateCapCookie (T, 2k)
In which Steve makes a decision for all the right reasons, but it still wasn't fully his to make, because parenting means discussions.
Heights in Depths, Depths in Heights for parkrstark (N/A, 5k)
"Suddenly everything that had happened prior came rushing back to him. Peter and him were going on a trip. A plane. The craft had jolted and made a loud noise before it began to lose altitude. The pilot had said something about engines failing, and because they were currently over the Rockies there was no safe place for them to land. Steve had buckled Peter up. The pilot told them to brace for impact. And then nothing." ---- Steve goes with his boyfriend's son on a trip across the country, just the two of them, to try and get some bonding time in. But this was not the kind of bonding he had in mind.
In my Favorite Dreams (I feel your heat) for wingheads (E, 6k)
Steve is on his morning run in DC when a ghost from his past comes back into his life. And he's not alone.
Just Desserts for JehBeeEh (G, 2k)
Tony grabs a midnight snack... Steve helps him finish it. There's one bite left before they read the note. They have have 45 minutes before Peter wakes up
Just the way you are for starkspangledsoldier (G, 4k)
'The view was beautiful but deafening. He could enjoy the sight in silence. But the silence was oppressive since it was not his choice. The silence did not help with the voices in his head, rather it made it worse.'
Let Your Haunted Dreams Go Tonight for UisceOneLove (T, 14k)
Tony Stark and Peter move to the suburbs to start a new life. On this journey Peter befriends resident hermit of the area, Steve Rogers. Little did the kid know it was gonna change his father's and own life upside down.
My Boys for Corsets_and_Cardigans (G, 10k)
Steve is assigned as the bodyguard to omega Tony Stark and his son. Through fluff and angst we watch as Peter subtly plays matchmaker and Steve does everything he can to keep his boys safe.
once upon a childhood for SilverDraconyx (G, 10k)
“Would it be okay to tell you a story, Pete? I hope it is. It’s the only thing I have planned for tonight. Just wake up if you want me to stop, okay?” Steve pauses, and the silence is unnerving but not unwelcome. No one stirs, especially not Peter, so Steve hums and Tony releases the breath he has been holding.
AKA
Steve, despite being a wanted vigilante, visits a comatose Peter in the Avengers Facility Medbay hoping to wake him up with stories about their past.
Six Letters for jacobby (T, 3k)
This was not at all what Steve had imagined when he’d dreamed of starting a family and being with Tony for the rest of his life, and as he drove the car up to the secluded cabin, he prayed inside that this trip could make it all better.
Sun Breaks Through the Sandcastle Walls for starksnack (G, 4k)
With the sun deciding to shine today, Tony ditched work and took Peter to the beach. What he wasn't expecting was to see his boyfriend there, too, and now his orbits were crashing together before he knew it.
The Heart of Heroes for Coffee_and_notebooks (T, 9k)
Peter has an internship at Stark Industries. It’s cool, except the most interesting thing he gets to do is be in the building. He figures that the internship is to gain good press by ‘helping poor orphans’.
That all changes, when he is sent to bring coffee to the Tony Stark!
As he spends time with Tony and Steve, they can’t help but come to love the teenage vigilante.
The Hundred Million Dollar Question for LenkaVittoriaElisse16 (G, 5k)
Maybe this was the hardest question that Tony and Steve ever had to answer. Their children's big puppy eyes surely didn't make it any easier. "Papa? Daddy? What's love?"
The Man Out of Time for sweetspiderstew (T, 17k)
For a moment, Steve is frozen, absolutely convinced that his eyes are playing tricks on him.
Because it can’t be right.  Wanda destroyed the Mind Stone, so how could Thanos have possibly gotten his hands on it?
But even besides that, there’s something else.  Something that Steve’s swirling mind and throbbing head can’t quite wrap around just yet.
He only knows that it’s wrong.
To Begin Again for IronDadStan (M, 11k)
Steve, a 35 y/o. Alpha meets Tony, a 21 y/o. Omega through an online art forum. Realizing that they lived in the same city, they decided to meet in person. And when they met in person, Steve gets instantly attracted to Tony. After all, Tony was handsome, intelligent, and has easy to be with. There was one problem though, Tony is a married omega.
You and I, we belong together for MCUKenna (G, 3k)
“What’s your name, kid?” He asked him.
“Peter. Do you…” The kid’s eyes darted around the room. “Do you not remember who I am?”
Memory loss. Tony hadn’t considered that one. It could be, he was still betting on an illusion, but (he quickly calculated the statistics in his head), it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. “Maybe. If this place is real.” He told the kid, Peter.
