Dick puts everything on the line.
He's the last one standing. The rest of the Titans are down.
He dies making sure that they, and the world, can live.
Then he wakes up, staring at a ceiling dotted with glow in the dark stars, very confused.
There's a redheaded teenager who calls herself Jazz, who seems suspicious of him. He had parents, ghost hunters who are definitely breaking many, many laws, who love him dearly.
He has a pair of very close friends, Tucker and Sam, who also do not trust him.
There was a funeral for Dick Grayson, he looked it up. There was a corpse and everything, cremated exactly as he had demanded after learning what had happened to Jason.
Just in case it's a fluke, and he's about to be thrown out of a body that isn't his, he doesn't reach out to anyone in the hero community just yet. Instead, he decides to look into who, exactly, is Daniel Fenton, and why do his friends and sister keep looking at him like he's a spy?
Or; Danny, growing more and more powerful as a halfa, was starting to have his ghostlyness leak through to his human form. He asked Clockwork if there was a future where Jack and Maddie would ever accept him being half ghost, and Clockwork informed him that no, there was not.
So Danny worked with the Yetis in the Far Frozen to make a lifeless clone of himself, with the intent to fake his death and live on in the Realms.
So when Jazz came into his room, fully expecting a lifeless clone, only to find the clone not only alive but fully functional, she's suspicious.

DP x DC Prompt/Plotbunny #6
After days? weeks? months? years? in this mercy-forsaken lab, Danny finds himself slipping; his core straining under the weight of what he's been subjected to. In a last ditch effort to save his fracturing soul, his brain simply stops processing the pain and allows his mind to escape into a waking dream.
Danny knows it's a dream. If he thinks about it; he can still hear, see, feel the scientists at work. He doesn't think about it; instead embraces whatever false world his mind decides to concoct for him.
.
Several states away, a young boy opens his eyes to the inside of a strange pod in an abandoned lab. Though he cannot see it yet, a strange metal tag dangles from his ear, stamped on one side with the word 'CADMUS' and on the other with 'R-13'.

Today I was thinking about how Sebastian’s greatest need in life is to feel needed and he puts that desire above his own survival on a regular basis. He doesn’t eat properly, he gets injured frequently, he can’t have a cat despite wanting one, etc. His top priority is being important to someone even if it means making sacrifices.
I think that’s part of why he can’t help but admit he has so much fun working for Ciel. A kid that young who was completely helpless became deeply dependent on him. Talk about an ego booster, I mean Ciel can shit all over Sebastian and curse at him and whatever but at the end of the day Seb knows it’s all talk and the kid’s stuck with him whether he likes it or not. I mean like, even the whole contract thing is weird because we never hear about any sort of governing law or social custom that binds a demon to a contract as strictly as Sebastian makes it appear. He has forcibly taken control of Ciel’s life and made himself irreplaceable. Ciel’s whole reason to live hinges on his revenge which he probably feels he cannot achieve without Sebastian.
Very demented and sad. Anyways toxic maladaptive dadbastian real. 🥲

I nourished stars, dreams, and souls, never noticing that my own veins were being emptied of their generous blood. / Now I ask myself what star will come to drip itself into my exhausted heart, and to what fountain will I be led, where I can drink like a weary animal. / I ask myself what I will do here on earth with this worthless, defiant body. And I hear my body answer: / —What will I do with this spark that believed itself the sun and this breath that believed itself the wind?

It’s about the emotional void that they so desperately try to fill with another’s soul. They will often seek supply online or elsewhere in the guise of making “soul connections,” to satiate the emotional emptiness they contain and to satisfy their constant hunger that is needed to feed their egos.
