#for anyone wondering it is the moment towards the beginning of the first film when kids in the Shadyside High School are

I never understood the bit at the beginning of Fear Street hey hey everyone go watch it right now it is SO GOOD where one of the characters that the film wants us to sympathize with reacts to a local tragedy with a kind of flagrant, unhinged humor.
And then 2020 lasted for 84 years.
And I was like,
Ah.
I get it.
#fear Street#original#fear street 2021#also just for the record these are some of the best horror movies I've ever seen and I recommend them to everyone#it also holds a special place in my heart for being the very first slasher film I ever saw that wasn't ableist#it's a trilogy of movies that were all released in 2021. they really tell one cohesive story so it's hard to separate one as the best#but holy shit. I have only ever seen such good theming in a horror film in projects that Jordan Peele has worked on#for anyone wondering it is the moment towards the beginning of the first film when kids in the Shadyside High School are#not reacting how one would expect to a horrible local tragedy. and at first I thought it was just the regular thing at the beginning of#every shitty horror film that people call '20 minutes with assholes' where we mark all these characters as meat for the meat grinder so#'don't get too attached they're all jerks anyway.' which has the unfortunate side effect of you the viewer having to#hang out with these assholes for at least 90 minutes. at the end even if the one likable character survives - who cares??#they still have to hang out with assholes till they die! same as if the murderer got them!#anyway I'm not a fan of this trope. but like everything else in these movies it is actually a brilliant inversion of a trope!#because these movies go out of their way to establish that this is not just a local tragedy - this is a tragedy in an endless#string of tragedies dating back to before these characters were even born!#it's not that Simon doesn't care! it's that everyone needs to fucking cope somehow and he does so through humor!#God I love these fucking films

Not a request more of a horny thought I had involving 07!raph and leo sharing 👀
One of the boys deciding he wants to be a little shit to his brother, which involves fucking the reader, filming it and sending it to him. Like IMAGINE the sexual tension? Leo being the one who wants to OWN you receiving a video of Raph fucking you brainless. Or Raph getting one where Leo's being asshole self in his "ownership" role over you.
It becoming a sexy lil race over who gets you to sing the loudest or cum the hardest 😩
Just me? 👀
Oh nonnie... what an excellent thought... thank you for sharing.
I'm actually in a terrible horrible no good mood, so I'm taking this and twisting it a bit for my own purposes. If anyone takes this exact prompt and runs with it, though, please tag me >:)
cw: angry Raph, choking, rough sex, maybe even dub con tbh considering not everything is understood and agreed upon by both parties involved, idk I can barely think. nsfw obviously
---
When Raph climbs through your window, he’s mumbling something about stupid fucking Leo with his stupid fucking… something. You can’t quite make it out. Your only thought is ‘yikes’ before Raph turns his glare on you.
Huh. That sure does something to you.
His chest is heaving as he paces, the muscles in his forearms flexing as he clenches and unclenches his fists. Back and forth in front of your window, he paces, and mumbles, and stares at you with a gaze that burns your skin and quickens your pulse.
You should… talk to him. Ask him what’s wrong. Maybe try to pull him onto the couch, get him to relax a bit. See if he’ll let you scratch his shell in that way he likes but will never admit. You don’t take sides when the boys are at each other’s throats - that was a rule you established from the very beginning - but you should at least try to offer some comfort.
The way he’s looking at you, though. It has you frozen.
Suddenly he stops. Quiets. Tilts his head. You can’t read the shift in his expression before he’s stalking toward you and grabbing your upper arm. He yanks you off the couch, his grip just shy of bruising, and pulls you toward the bedroom. You stumble behind him, almost tripping over your own feet, but he doesn’t slow.
For the first time, you feel… afraid.
His hand leaves your arm just for him to lift you by the waist and toss you onto the bed like you weigh nothing. You’re still bouncing from the landing when you feel him clawing at your pants, pulling them roughly off of you before doing the same with your underwear. It makes you yelp, makes you instinctively press your legs together once your bottom half is bare. He stills for a moment, peering down at you where he’s still standing by the side of the bed. You can feel your heart thundering in your chest. Your breaths match his now - quick and unsteady. His eyes glance to the side, then back at you, and then he’s pacing again while you watch him with confusion.
“Raph. Wh-”
“Don’t,” he snarls, still pacing. Still staring. Your mouth snaps shut, watching him with wide eyes. He seems to make a decision and crawls onto the bed and over you, straddling your waist. Your shirt is quickly lifted over your head and tossed to the side, and he pauses for a moment when he sees that you’re already braless. A bit of the rage in his face eases, that dangerous aura that clings to him lessening slightly. You can’t help but notice that you’re shaking a little bit. You wonder if he notices. You wonder if he cares.
Raph’s arms come up behind his head, and you don’t realize he’s untying his mask until it’s already off. It’s a shock when he starts fastening it onto you. Even more of a shock when he twists it so that you can’t see through the eye holes. Then he speaks, and the growl in his voice makes a chill run down your spine.
“You’re mine. Got that?”
This is… new. Usually Leo is the one who likes that kind of thing, not Raph.
You must hesitate too long, because suddenly there’s a hand around your throat squeezing. It makes you gasp, the wheeze of air in your trachea cutting off into aborted choking sounds as his grip continues to tighten. You nod frantically, and his grip eases enough for you to breathe shakily. The hand moves to snatch both of your wrists and pin them above your head.
“Say it,” Raph growls. His voice has a dangerous edge to it. An edge that’s never, never been aimed at you before.
“I’m yours.”
“Don’t move your hands.” His grip on your wrists disappears, and you obey as you feel him lean back. He starts shifting and doing something above you. You can’t tell. You don’t know what he’s doing, but he’s… not even touching you. And with his mask over your eyes, you only have what you hear, what you feel, to go off of.
His center of gravity shifts, and you hear the soft sound of something being placed near your head. You want to ask, but then he’s scooting back until he’s no longer on top of you. His hands pry your legs open, and then he’s holding the underside of your thighs and pressing them back so you’re spread for him. You feel his tongue press flat against your folds and drag up and over your clit. It pulls a surprised gasp out of you, and he retracts his tongue long enough to talk.
“Let me hear it, doll. I want to hear all your sounds, nice and loud, okay? What do you say?”
“Yes, Raphael.”
It’s odd. Odd to not be saying Leo’s name when you answer that. But what the boys want during one-on-one time is their business, and the churr that you hear makes your chest swell despite the uneasiness that lingers. You don’t really have time to dwell on it, anyway, since he’s diving back in like he’s starving. Like it’s his last meal. Usually he takes it slower than this, but tonight it seems like he’s determined to make you reach your peak as fast as he possibly can. Steady swirls of his tongue around your clit. That addictive friction, followed by his fingers prodding at your entrance. Pushing, massaging, stretching you open for him until you’re squirming. You make a sound of distress when he pulls his mouth and fingers away, and he laughs.
His voice is husky when he speaks again. Not quite the same danger there, but just as dark. “You want my cock inside of you, sweetheart?”
Something about the way that he says it makes your breath hitch, and you hear him chuckle again. Still, he hasn’t moved, so you swallow thickly and give him what he apparently wants from you tonight. “Yes, Raphael. Please.”
“Please what?”
You’re already sweating, flushed from him working you open, but the smirk in his voice makes you blush fiercely. “Please- please put your cock in me, Raphael.”
“Atta girl,” he says, moving immediately to line himself up and push into you. Raph’s hands curl around your hips. He rubs his thumbs back and forth across your skin, then presses them into the muscle at the top of where your thighs start. With a deliberate, slow thrust, he pushes in. You try to focus on breathing, but the feeling of him spearing you open is something you don’t think you’ll ever get used to. It makes your head tip back so your throat is bared, makes you arch your spine as a sound you can’t begin to describe comes out of you.
God. Fuck.
You start to move your arms down to hold onto him before you remember his order to keep your wrists in place.
“Being such a good slut for me,” he rumbles, starting to move. “You like being good for me? A pretty little slut, just for me?”
There’s something in his tone that you can’t pick up on, but it’s hard to think past the sparks he’s igniting inside of you. Still, you know what you’re supposed to do. You’ve been trained well enough to not have to think too much about it. “Ye- ah! Yes, Rah - Raphael.”
There’s only him. His smell, all around you. His hands, starting to roam over your stomach, your chest, your sides, painting lines of goosebumps across your skin as he pants. His cock making you feel so, so full as he moves inside of you. It’s embarrassing - the sounds he’s pulling out of you tonight. High-pitched whines and broken moans that sound a little bit like you’re in pain, a little bit like you’re crying, but you can’t focus on that. You can only focus on him.
“You’re gonna come for me, baby. Just for me.”
His speed and force is picking up by the second. He’s so much rougher than usual, and you can’t help the whimpers and gasps that slip out of you with each thrust. Shivers start to roll through you, and you can feel it building. Closer, closer, closer still as he pistons in and out of you. The friction is driving you crazy, and you can’t help but move your hips with him, chasing that release. When it finally comes, the noise that comes out of you is a long, broken thing that you can’t ever remember making before.
There’s nothing but him, him, him. Making you float above your body as you ride that high. Through the haze in your mind, you feel him shifting above you even as he continues to fuck you into the mattress. You still haven’t fully come down yet when Raph’s hand fists in your hair. The bottom of his plastron vibrates against your stomach when he growls out his next words.
“Who made you come, baby? Who do you belong to?”
Your breath stutters in your lungs when you inhale. God, you still can’t think. You feel like you might actually still be coming, but he wants you to answer. You need to answer. Fuck, what are you… fuck.
When you do manage to get control of your mouth enough to respond, you vaguely think this might be the most wrecked your voice has ever sounded.
Across the city, Leo’s hand cracks his phone in half when he hears you say, “You, Raphael.”

And so it truly begins… the unbridled suffering that accompanies the red carpet and press junket content for Mary & George, thinking about all we could’ve had, all they could’ve had…
Jokes aside, I’m gonna be honest about how I’m feeling, so feel free to move along if you don’t want to hear it.
Let me be clear, I am in no way saying this out of anger towards Nicholas or hate towards the show. These feelings of disappointment and whatnot would have arised regardless of what project either of them did.
I’m not going to lie about it though. As wonderful as it is and as happy as I am to see Nicholas getting this moment, I am undeniably sad.
I’m sad seeing him attend a red carpet when RWRB couldn’t have one, especially considering that Taylor has still not gotten to attend a red carpet for one of his projects.
I’m sad seeing him pose with Julianne and Tony for pictures when there have only been two official pictures taken of him and Taylor together since RWRB’s release.
I’m sad seeing him laughing and talking with Tony for what is undoubtedly the first of many interviews when he only got to do one with Taylor prior to the strike and has not done one since it ended.
I’m sad seeing Nicholas posting pictures and videos from behind the scenes of Mary & George when he hasn’t posted any for RWRB.
I’m sad seeing Nicholas talk about George when I know he cares so much about Henry but missed his chance to talk about him.
I’m sad seeing all this attention on this queer project that’s entirely focused on filthy and outrageous gay sex for power when Nicholas was just in a film that showcased true queer love, with sex and everything beyond physical intimacy.
I am fucking sad.
And I’m allowed to be. I’m allowed to be sad about not getting to fully experience the release of one of my favorite films the way it was meant to. I’m allowed to be sad that we didn’t get any interviews, or press, or anything we were supposed to.
I am so happy for Nicholas and looking forward to seeing this show. I will be posting and reblogging support and positivity, of course. I will try my best to focus on the excitement.
I’m saying this to get it off my chest, and to potentially reassure anyone feeling the same way that it’s okay. We will probably never fully get over these feelings of longing for what we didn’t get. It’s hard loving something so much, waiting for so long, and having it mean so much to you, and knowing that you were robbed of the entire experience by corporate greed. If you’re feeling down about all this, don’t feel guilty. Try to keep focused on the positives, but know you’re not wrong for being upset.

Run away with me
warnings: none
word count: 1,975
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Filming for our upcoming movies and shows have been hectic.
Our home is more of a stop over than a home at this moment
And it doesn’t help having my sister and Chris’s brother staying in our house with us. Ever since the pandemic happened they’ve lived with us.
With the pandemic finally winding down we’ve been dropping hints for them to leave
Malia says it’s annoyingly obvious, but I tell her that’s the point. Chris can’t kick anyone out, he’s too nice.
So I’ve been holding back on telling Malia and Scott to give us some space
I can’t remember the last time we just had the house to ourselves.
And I long for it.
Scott was out on an audition while Malia was at a cafe working on her schoolwork for her masters degree
It was just me and the house, silence never felt so good.
My phone chimes and I look to the message from Scott, telling everyone in our group chat that he’s going for drinks tonight
Malia texts back asking where the fuck her invitation is
I shake my head as I sigh
Scott types back an invite and she tells everyone she’s in
Do you know what that means?
I get my moment of peace.
I get a moment with my fiancé
Chris sighs loudly as he enters the house
He says “Honey?”
“In the family room!”
“We have our house to ourselves and you’re watching tv?”
He enters the living room, dropping his bag when he sees me
The corners of his wide smile turn upwards as he stifles a laugh “dressed like that. boy I like our alone time.”
He jumps the couch, landing on me as I move out of impact
He curls his fingers into the straps of the lingerie saying “God where have you been hiding this at?”
I smile as I say “I’ve had it since we got engaged, and you were wondering why I was so pushy with the siblings to get out.”
“First thing tomorrow I’ll send them away.” He says in a muffled tone with his lips pressed against my shoulder blades
A shaky sigh escapes my lips as I say “God I love you.”
As soon as he begins to remove pieces of the top I hear something
Our door opens and slams
Malia says “You embarrassed me in front of your friends!”
“You were flirting with all my gay friends!”
Chris says “shit!”
He covers me as he falls on me, looking for something to cover me with he sees the blanket on the chair… across the living room
He leans to leave but I pull him back over me, in an effort to hide me
Malia shouts “Y/N!! Tell me you made dinner! I’m starv-ING! OH MY GOD.”
She screams in horror as Chris releases an irritated sigh as he glares at her
Scott says “What- oh my god! You are disgusting!”
Chris shakes his head saying “Get out.”
Malia and Scott laugh loudly as Chris covers my exposed self. Malia says “You two have a bedroom, you know that right.”
I sit up, with Chris holding his hands over my exposed body, his eyes widening as I grow angrier and more conflict driven
“We paid for this house, in all cash, out of our own pockets. I bought this couch, I’ve bought everything in this damn room! I have the fucking right to do whatever I please with my significant other wherever I please.”
Scott says “We eat popcorn and watch movies there. That’s- so disgusting.”
I hurl the remote towards their heads screaming “get out!”
It smashes into the wall and they both look to me shocked. Malia says “God, what crawled up your ass tonight.”
Scott says “That’s no way to treat your guests-”
I reach for anything I can find on the coffee table to throw, but Chris pulls the items out of my hands, finally he hands me a pillow
In all my effort I hit Scott’s head as he steps back
“Get out!” I scream in annoyance
Malia says “Off to our rooms we go-”
“No move out!” I scream as I press the pillow to my chest in an effort of coverance
Chris defends them saying “Honey don’t be rash alright? They just need a place…”
I scoff saying “Apparently you want to sleep on this couch tonight.”
I stand up, grabbing the blanket, wrapping it around me and roughly hitting Chris with it
I saunter past my sister and Scott, I glare at them saying “Stay… be our guests! And ruin my sex life, assholes.”
I huff in annoyance as I stomp up the stairs, knowing I’m overreacting but it’s just a constant annoyance them being here
I snapped.
Chris stares at the two of them. Malia says “Well she’s in a bad mood.”
“Shut up. I’m not in the mood to hear you complain about your sister.” Chris says in annoyance
Scott says “We didn’t mean to start problems between you two.”
“Fuck off. You two can fight over a room, I’m getting a guest room. Sleep on the couch. And be considerate of our house and our relationship.”
“We have been. You don’t think we’ve been extremely accepting of the two of you? You practically drool over breakfast every morning while you two remain nearly naked cooking our food.”
“Which is gross, and unsanitary.” Malia fills in
Scott says “And your late night quickies, we can hear those. It’s like I need to cut my ears off.”
Chris shakes his head saying “God.. she’s right, you’ve put this massive strain on my relationship. It’s like you’re trying to make us fail!”
Scott gasps with Malia, they both say in a surprised tone “We would never!”
Chris says “if you ruin my relationship with her I will never forgive either of you. You already have me sleeping in different beds, arguing with her, and not talking now. So thank you… for ruining something that took years to get.”
Chris storms upstairs in a big hurry and annoyance
He knocks on our master bedroom door, knowing it’s a long shot to get a response from me
I’m already sitting in a hot bath ignoring the three annoyances in my life at the moment
He sighs saying “Can we just talk please? Honey?”
He doesn’t receive an answer and he finds his way to Scott’s guest bedroom. He falls onto the bed, punching the pillows and muttering to himself
“Fucking bullshit..”
He repeatedly punches the pillows as he says “And this bed sucks.”
That was about it for the night, other than me sprawling across our king mattress all on my own
But I couldn’t sleep. Half way through the night I got this ridiculous urge
And I followed through with it
I left my room, and went down the stairs to find Chris
Only to find Scott asleep on the couch, and a massive mess of food in the kitchen
And a sink full of dishes, which ultimately almost sets me off again
But I close my eyes and focus on my plans.
I walk back up the stairs and push open Scott’s door
Chris grumbles saying “Fuck off Scott. This is my house, take the couch.”
I step further into the room, climbing the bed saying “Chris.”
He looks to me quickly, the anger dissolving quickly
“I thought you were mad at me.”
“I was mad about the situation. Not you.”
My hands press to his face as I sit on his chest “Let’s leave.”
“What?” He asks confused in a sleepy tone
“Let’s run away, together, come on.”
“What are you talking about?”
He sits up, and I slide down to his legs. He holds tightly to me saying “I’m sorry, what?”
“Run away with me. Let’s leave and go get married. Buy a house somewhere spontaneously and just be off on our own, married, and happy.”
His eyes widen as he says “But our families…”
I nod saying “Yes, our families, they can wonder where we left to for a few days. Come on, be spontaneous with me. Don’t you want to marry me?”
“I do… I do, y/n… I just, I thought you wanted the big happy wedding with your dad walking you down the aisle and all the family being together.”
“We can do that later. I want to get married now, May 30th is a great day for an anniversary.”
He smiles and says “Fine, I’m in. Let’s get married.”
He dives in to kiss me and I loop my arms around the back of his neck
We’re getting married

My immediate I-just-finished-watching-Loki-episode-4 reaction post
There be spoilers ahead.  Oh damn there be spoilers!
Okay.  Firstly, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly, that was awesome!
Thirdly, so many things!  In no particular order…
Did they just create the Kang problem?  By spagettifying Timely near the Loom did they just somehow seed the multiverse with Kang variants who know more than they should?
“I don’t know”. Agh!  What does this mean! Why is this important to Loki?  What has he just realised? “What’d we do wrong?” “I don’t know”.
The time loop scene was just beautiful! I loved how they cut to Loki from the past and it took me a couple of seconds to realise that wasn’t our present Loki. (Not that I’m complaining, I could happily watch him running desperately through the TVA for a long time lol.) I’d had a feeling the show was going to tie back to the time slipping thing more strongly in this episode so had just rewatched episode 1, for which I am very glad. Made following things a little easier. But it was also great to be able to more closely compare the scene to the on in my memory from ep 1.  I totally thought it was going to be Loki on the phone too though, so that it was OB was almost a disappointment lol!  I’d thought perhaps it was going to be a future version of Loki making the call at that time to bring his past self to that location to be pruned. But unless things are even more convoluted than they appear it seems it wasn’t a call from anyone with that purpose in mind.
The music that starts playing as present Loki realises what’s going on and makes the decision to prune his past self – is that the beginnings of a heroic theme for him!?  Eeeee!  (I feel like it’s going to be my deathbed wish to see Loki straight up play the hero in something, lol!)  Even if not, the music here was great!  From tense and creepy to determined and uplifting!  I didn’t notice it on first viewing, it was just there unconsciously guiding how I felt, but clearly being very effective!
Tumblr media
So. That ending eh? OMG! I was NOT expecting that!!!
I was genuinely shocked at the spaghettification.  And then how quickly the Loom went critical and that they actually showed us how everyone handled their last moments.  Mobius disbelieving, Sylvie and OB quietly resigned, B-15 terrified, and Loki, with tears in his eyes, facing death head on.  Lmao.O does that count as another death for Loki? *cackles madly* Also, so THAT’S what that shot from the trailer was from.  No wonder he looked so… much.
Tumblr media
And then OMG!  The flickering lights! That was so well done!  Now you’re gonna laugh, but my TV and living room lights regularly flicker and the TV turns off. Something about the wifi and picking up signals from phones and alarms.  For instance it always turns off at 9pm when my alarm goes off.  So you can imagine why it took me watching the final scene three times before I was convinced it wasn’t a technical glitch at my end.  LOL!
I love how it’s tied in with the flickering of the lights in the TVA itself. And I love how it works as a symbol for a glitch in time itself – which is what I assume these events have caused.  And the music over the end credits – good lord I still have shills! It’s all so very wrong! Like reality is disintegrating. Like a Dali painting. It’s sooo uncomfortable!  And so very, very, well done!  Such a fantastic blend of the show with reality!  Agh! I love it!  I also love that this is something new, something I’ve never experienced in film or TV before and it’s going to stick with me for life.
So did Timely sabotage things, or do something other than what OB was expecting? Or was he just bluffing with Renslayer? Did he volunteer for the reasons he said, or was he planning something? I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I’m just… not… sure.  Did he intend for that to happen to him?  Or did he miscalculate? Or was everything played straight?
I’m sympathetic towards Timely.  The trouble is we haven’t seen him for long enough to really know who he is. In the brief time we’ve been shown conflicting things – he’s a confidence trickster, but he seems harmless enough in the scheme of things. His wonder at all the things in the TVA (including the hot chocolate machine) are very endearing.  He seems genuinely scared of… well… pretty much everyone at some point (except OB), and the way Loki and Mobius show him trust and are kind to him is sweet. But then he hadn’t really been around the TVA long enough for us to see what sort of schemes he could think of to work to his advantage, so perhaps it’s just a matter of time.
So where to from here?  I can see why they showed the press up until this point, and I can see why some of the reviews talked about how episode 4 turned things on it’s head.
I’m going to assume that episodes 5 and 6 are about Loki working out how to fix things. Or maybe not quite fix, but at least not completely destroy. I feel like things at the TVA won’t be the same by the end of the season.
Something makes it so that Loki starts timeslipping again, and into the branched timelines too.  Or is it perhaps just along his own timeline?? We’ve heard him asking how they could do things differently, so I assume that’s what he’ll be trying.  Maybe many different attempts.  Maybe all of those in the room are now unstably jumping about within their own timelines.  I don’t know, but there certainly look to be lots of super cool possibilities!  I half expect the start of the next episode is Loki opening his eyes to find himself in another place/time, and then working out wtf is happening.
Also, we’ve been working on the premise that Timely is a variant, but what if he actually is He Who Remains? What if HWR is in a permanent time loop? (That is of course assuming that Timely somehow didn’t actually die. Or at least not permanently.)
I think I might have to stop thinking about it there or else I might go mad. *cackles*
Some other things:
OB learning everything from Timely!!!  OMG!  I didn’t expect that but I love it.  That was never fully explained, was it?  Does someone take Timely’s TVA book waaay back into the past? They were as cute as imagined in their meeting.  Part of me is still sad they never signed each other’s copy of the TVA book.  But if Timely’s book goes back to OB then it couldn’t be signed by OB I suppose.
Renslayer and Miss Minutes going outright evil.  Well at least I know what side of things she’s on now, I guess. I’m glad they never showed us the results of the machine, because the expressions of those watching was terrifying enough.
Dox defending B-15’s integrity was great. I should have known she wouldn’t live after that.
Nice to have the memory erasing confirmed.
Interesting convo between Sylvie and Mobius. I thought that was interesting and reflected their experiences and positions well.  I really feel for Mobius. I think I’d probably react similarly to him and just not want to know for fear of it being better than the life I knew.  So I have a lot of sympathy for him, but I can totally see Sylvie’s point.  But sometimes you have to narrow your scope of caring to survive.
Loki and Sylvie’s conversation in the Automat may actually be my favourite interaction between them so far.  Loki seemed to be more confident in himself.  He wasn’t trying to please her or desperate for her to do/not do something. It seemed a more mature conversation where he recognised there was no right answer, and was prepared to walk away rather than try to convince her, and equally, she didn’t just push him away or run herself. I might actually be starting to buy the fact that these tow have a history of some sort.
The fact that OB can reset the TVA’s system and enable magic to be used within the TVA – and Loki and Sylvie’s shouted response – Brilliant!!!  I feel like that’s going to be significant later on.  I mean it did allow Sylvie to enchant X-5, so maybe that’s the payoff already, but maybe it also allows Loki (or Sylvie) to do something bigger in that brief window if he’s jumping through time again. I wonder f also it’ll turn out that some other people in the TVA will turn out to be magic users? (I’m assuming not Mobius because of the 90’s and jetski thing, but maybe?)
So I had really quite low expectations for this season.  As I’ve said before I didn’t like several fundamental things about season 1, but we’re 4 episodes in and I am *almost* confident enough to say that most of those are absent from season 2. Or at least so far.  They key thing being Loki’s characterisation – it’s still not entirely consistent with OG Loki, but it’s no longer excruciating to watch him clown about. There are still a few moments this season that have been beyond my comfort zone, but 90% of the time he’s been more assured and has been treated seriously by the show.  He’s also been the driver of events and the eyes through which we see things more than in the first season. And I am so thankful for this.
The tone of this episode is more aligned with episode 1, but that makes sense because it’s both more similar in topic and by the same directing team.  And given Episode 1 was my favourite before this, I’m more than happy!
There’s still a couple of episodes to go, but 4 episodes in and I’ve gone from, ‘yeah, I’ll watch it but only out of curiosity and some weird lingering sense of obligation because I’m a Loki fan’, to ‘this is actually potentially great and I can’t wait to see what happens next’.  Which has been a bit of a shock.  Lol!  I’ve been a Loki fan for too long to have the confidence to call it yet, but I’m leaning more towards the optimistic end of ‘cautiously optimistic’.
Okay, my mutuals and anyone else who wants to discuss – what did you think?  :D
Tagging a few folk since I’m a day or so late.  But please let me know if you’d rather not be tagged (or would like to be added). @sparklegemstone @pinkpondofasgard @woodelf68 @galaxythreads @ladyofthestayingpower @scintillatingshortgirl19 @projectprotectloki

Spoiler-Free Review: Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning [Sub]
Tumblr media
In this movie, one more troubled relationship between one more kid and their partner threatens the world one more time. The Zero Two kids help… a little.
As much as Last Evolution Kizuna’s message spoke of our need to be able to let go of our childhood fancies, and as much as it would have been an appropriate final bow to the original Adventure canon, it also proved that this world is still capable of turning out some wonderful, thought-provoking stories. Especially when given the kind of budget this movie relishes in throughout. Before we tiptoe around major plot points without actually revealing them, it must be said that The Beginning looks gorgeous. The big action is animated beautifully and minor details in the art go far in supporting the story. It’s important because the movie is all about quality. Quality above distracting subplots, quality above unnecessary fights, and—perhaps more concerning—quality above cherished Digimon Adventure establishments.
The first sign of the movie’s lack of concern about bending the knee to prior Adventure canon: this is 100 percent Lui’s story. If you’re expecting the Zero Two kids to have some deep character growth the way Taichi did in Kizuna… well, it’s the Zero Two kids; half of them didn’t get that in their own season. No, this is all the Lui and Ukkomon show. After tri. and Kizuna you might be thinking “isn’t this the third time now we’ve been introduced to a new character whose partnership issues are a harbinger for chaos?” The answer to that is no: it’s the fourth time if you count Wallace in Hurricane Touchdown. But while tri.’s format allowed the established cast to have full character arcs alongside Meiko’s and Kizuna was still fundamentally about Taichi dealing with the problems Menoa creates, The Beginning is too compact and too tightly wound to give anyone but Lui room for growth.
That’s not a bad thing though! In a relatively short time, we get all the gory details of Lui’s past, where Ukkomon fits into the equation, how things go wrong, why it’s everyone’s problem, and how Lui fixes it. It’s told vividly, and viscerally at times: some of the story is straight-up disturbing and the movie understands the importance of not shying away from it. These are some horrors that would bother even the Ghost Game kids. The facts of Lui’s story aren’t particularly complicated—it’s a surprisingly simple story for a feature-length film—but they’re presented with a nuance that hits the upper echelon of what Digimon has ever been capable of.
Still, it does leave the Zero Two characters a little in the lurch. Character moments are sprinkled in whenever they can get them and everybody’s heard in group conversations (sometimes even making a good point!), but some feel like they’re only there because they have to be. Until the fade out at the end, there honestly isn’t much more of the Zero Two kids being Zero Two kids than we saw in Kizuna. Anyone longing to see these kids tackling their own problems instead of someone else’s will be left hanging. That said, the revamped evolution sequences are fire, we’re still treated to Target and Beat Hit, and there’s even a couple teases for the shippers. And the ending is absolutely a “Zero Two kids being the Zero Two kids” moment.
But yes, one of the trickier conversations will certainly regard The Beginning’s relationship with Adventure canon. On one hand, Lui’s situation suggests a conflict with Adventure and tri., and some could interpret the resolution as incompatible with particular aspects of the epilogue. On the other hand, none of the issues are in any way major, and countered both by references to events in Adventure and tri., and the fact that everybody is still barreling straight toward their epilogue fates. Weirdly, the most dubious point of contention may be with Kizuna. Any direct discrepancies are again insignificant, but the revelations of the prior movie feel like they should weigh more on some minds as they process everything going on here.
To its credit, The Beginning seems fully aware of what it’s doing. It understands how much it’s potentially shaking things up. The characters recognize it! The movie delivers on the things that really matter: the kids, the Digimon, the music, and the heart. Things like adherence to an increasingly rigid and cluttered timeline are more superfluous. It doesn’t dismiss anything for the sake of dismissing it, but it’s not going to let it get in the way of a good story. Even as the kids dutifully stay on track for the epilogue, the ending narration suggests that anything goes from here. We may find out: unlike Kizuna’s sense of finality, The Beginning builds momentum for more stories in whatever interpretation of this world grows them best. If they’re anything like this one, we’ll welcome them.
My Grade: A

“Action!”
You stare at your leading man across the ballroom, only to be met with eyes that have been looking at you since before the scene even started. Despite having looked into those pair of eyes ever since filming started, you couldn’t understand why it felt different now. It’s been months since you two first met, and months since he first began looking at you, but you felt your heart rate increasing every second he spent looking at you.
You couldn’t focus on anything but him. Even though there were dozens of extras that were moving across the room, you couldn’t see anything but Choi Yeonjun. And with every second that you two spent, locked into each other’s eyes, the tension grew thicker. You couldn’t quite understand the way he was looking at you. His gaze seemed to linger on yours the more you two spent time together. It was exactly the way his character should’ve been looking at you, and yet, it looked so real that you wondered whether or not he might’ve felt the same way.
It felt as if the world had stopped for the two of you. In that moment, which you were sure lasted no longer than a minute, the shared eye contact made it last forever. His gaze was intense, staring at you with something in his eyes that you couldn’t quite understand, and yet, you were willing to completely dive into.
Yeonjun finally moved forward, taking slow steps towards you. With every step, your heartbeat grew louder in sound until you could barely breathe. You felt that you were getting consumed by his never-ending stare, and you felt a new kind of nervousness seting in that you hadn’t experienced around anyone before, and certainly not your co-star.
“You look lovely this evening,” Yeonjun says.
You almost forgot this was just a scene. You tried to ease your nerves, quickly getting into character. After all, there was nothing to feel anxious about when everything was fake.
“Thank you,” you reply, the confidence in your character’s voice being emitted. “I’m sorry, I don’t believe we’ve met before.”
The point of the scene was to meet Yeonjun’s character at a masquerade ball while not knowing his identity. It was a classic trope in any good enemies to lovers, spy and assassin film. You didn’t quite understand how it could fool your character, who was known for her intellect, though. After all, anyone could tell it was Choi Yeonjun just from the way he presented himself. The confidence, the smile, the eyes: everything screamed Yeonjun to you. But to be fair, it seemed as though most things began reminding you of him recently.
“I don’t know, have we?” Yeonjun says, giving you a smirk. He gently bows, offering you his hand. “Would you like to dance with me to find out?”
“I suppose it wouldn’t hurt,” you say as you take his hand, feeling your heart flutter in a way you were sure your character was supposed to feel.
Yeonjun gently pulls you onto the dance floor, his other hand gently wrapping itself around your waist. He smiles down at you, swaying the two of you to the rhythm of the song. He gently removes his hand from your torso to spin you around, your dress twirling along with you. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the camera panning back to capture the two of you dancing.
When you’re back in his arms, Yeonjun gently leans down to whisper, “You really do look beautiful in that dress, Y/n. I can’t take my eyes off of you.”
You feel yourself tense up from his words. It was in these moments that you felt yourself break character. Although you tried not to let it show on your face, your heart was pounding against your chest. You’ve heard him compliment you before, always making sure to acknowledge your acting skills and tell you when he liked your outfit, but at that moment, with his face so close to yours and speaking in a way that no one else will ever hear, it left you feeling a way you’ve never felt before.
Distracted by your thoughts, you don’t even hear the song end. Yeonjun pulls you two off of the dance floor, his hand still around your waist on which he gently taps his pointer finger in order to pull you back to reality. You could practically see how he’d tease you for getting distracted later. He peers down at you, his smirk never leaving his face.
“As much as I loved dancing with you,” he says as he looks down at his watch and then back up at you, “I’m afraid it’s time for me to take my leave.”
“Now?” you ask. “Could you at least tell me your name before you leave?”
“But you already know it, sweetheart,” Yeonjun says as he takes off his mask.
You change your face to a shocked one, showing your character’s utter disbelief on your face. “You? You’re telling me I danced with you?” you scoff in disbelief.
“The one and only,” he says, face clearly showing his amusement. He leans down, your hand still in his, and kisses it gently. “Don’t miss me too much.”
You watch as Yeonjun gives you his trademark smirk as you feel your face get hotter at the sudden improvisation. You knew that he wasn’t told to kiss your hand nor hold onto you for so long, and despite knowing many actors do the same thing, the feeling of his lips on your bare hand made your knees weak in a way you wouldn’t ever like to admit. It wasn’t like you to be so distracted by a simple gesture, and yet, you always seemed to crumble whenever it came to Choi Yeonjun.
You watch Yeonjun leave the frame and exit the scene. His back now facing you and his gaze focused on the phone is his hand, you wondered if he’d ever look at you so intensely again. The sight of his eyes looking at you like you were the only thing in the world was an image you were worried would be burned into your mind. Furthermore, you wondered if the way his character looked at yours held any truth to the way Yeonjun felt about you. But as you watch him walk farther away from the set, you felt a sense of hopelessness set into your heart. After all, you two were just acting in the end.
“Cut!”

Cynicism and God Complexes: Thoughts on Batman v Superman
Tumblr media
There’s good stuff about this movie. Clark and Bruce are especially well cast, some of the costumes are pretty, Wonder Woman is there, etc. But as for the rest? I just rewatched this film, and here’s my two cents.
Bruce's Characterization
I appreciate how the beginning shows Bruce’s compassion for people (especially kids), but then it’s … not really relevant ever again? What Batman does to the sex traffickers is certainly satisfying, but it's also more in line with Huntress or Red Hood’s tactics (which comics!Bruce hates). So, by making him more like Frank Miller’s Batman (aka the Punisher in a cape -- seriously, The Dark Knight Returns had horrendous characterization and we should not be basing movies on it), it erases everything about his character that defines him as Batman, which is VERY relevant in comics batfam dynamics. Furthermore, there's the moment when the media is criticizing the bat brand, and Bruce says, "They’re criminals, Alfred — they’ve always been criminals. Nothing’s changed.” This is not who Bruce is! This is not his mindset! Where is the Bruce Wayne who gets a former villain a job at Wayne Enterprises and works toward reform and doesn't see anyone as a lost cause?
There's also the question of the dead Robin (not that you can really tell it’s a Robin costume because it's freaking BROWN) who is probably Jason Todd, which makes Bruce's characterization here even more implausible. Bruce didn’t kill his arch nemesis (who’s still alive and played by Jared Leto) who tortured and murdered his teenage son, but sure, he’ll kill Superman happily!! I call BS.
Clark's Characterization
This film is all about fear of Superman, and this is best personified by Bruce and Alfred's perspective — that Kal-El is a god coming down from the sky who could reign terror on the earth and answers to no one. Sure, they’re unreliable narrators, but this narrative still ruined many people’s perceptions of Superman. Despite scenes showing Clark’s kindness, fear of Superman (plus the idea that we SHOULD be afraid of him) is woven throughout the entire film. The entire point of the Knightmare sequences is fear of Superman. Even if they’re simply meant to demonstrate Bruce’s paranoia, they still serve to instill fear of Superman in the audience as well. (Also the Knightmare sequences are literally just Injustice ripoffs and I HATE IT. Literally the worst thing to take inspiration from for a Superman movie.) It's noteworthy that Superman's first appearance shows him looking scary and imposing. That's the image many people remembered.
Also, the core of Clark's character is that he cares about people. He does literally everything in his power to protect them. The idea of him allowing (or causing) destruction to befall innocents just so he can save Lois is ludicrous. Actually, the (heavily Injustice inspired) idea throughout the DCEU that Clark prioritizes Lois over other innocent people is awful. Clark cares about all of humanity — whom he lives among and is not isolated from  — not just Lois. (Also, while I love the tenderness in their relationship, it's just not a Lois & Clark relationship. Where is the banter? The flirtation? These two are cute together, but they were also made into a very generic couple.)
Additionally, I hate Superman as a Christ figure, and I hate the "he's a god among mortals!!" narrative. Y'all. This is post-Crisis. John Byrne got rid of that. We've moved past this.
The Villain
I hate Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. I get that he’s Luthor Jr, but still. He’s kinda just playing the Joker without makeup. He’s just pathetic and annoying and I cringe when he’s on screen. It's honestly embarrassing that every other actor who has played Lex Luthor was both more menacing and more compelling.
The Tone
Beyond a doubt, this movie's fatal flaw is how bleak and cynical it is. The tone, the characterization, the very premise, and even the color scheme are so cynical. It takes all the fun and meaning out of the genre. Thanks for turning these inspiring and beloved characters into another sad soulless action movie!! Love you Zack 😘
Also, the beginning bothers me. Bruce doesn't like Clark because of all the violence he causes -- except comics!Clark cares about protecting civilians. It's just that Zack Snyder followed the 2010s action flick trend of adding tons of gratuitous, gritty violence, and now BvS is reckoning not with the characters' actions, but with Snyder's directorial choices from Man of Steel. Which is lame and I hate it.
Snyder's choices in general just bother me. He literally took one of the brightest, most colorful, most fun genres ever and was like “Actually, what if everything was DARK and BROWN and SAD.” And you know what? I do not vibe with that. Not everything has to be Game of Thrones.
Honestly, all this cynicism and moralizing would've been more suited to an Authority film than one about the DC Trinity.  I don’t WANT a dark and realistic take on Superman and how people might view him. I don’t want a movie where Superman is put on trial or burned in effigy! I want a movie where Superman saves people and brings joy and hope to the world. I want my kind and inspirational beacon of hope. I want the hero whom children adore and adults admire. Give me a real superhero movie, not a hopeless grimdark action movie with superhero characters.

TLOVM Season 2 Eps 4-6 Ramblings
EP. 4
- More baby twins. I love getting to see these flashbacks of things that were only briefly mentioned during the campaign.
- Trinket origin story! Baby trinket is so adorable.
- Ugh... and right back into this absolutely brutal moment. The first of several moments that are going to be absolutely gut wrenching to see animated.
- Trinket defending his mama.
- “Take me instead you Raven bitch.” Love that they keep these iconic lines from the campaign.
- “Holy shit, I’m amazing.” Humble as ever Kash.
- Love Vex laughing in response to them telling her she died. Because sometimes it’s the only way to process things.
- Vax getting Death Walker’s Ward. And thus the decision that seals Vax’s fate in the end.
- Zahra is so cool. I love her.
- Vax’s flashbacks to the Calamity... I really hope we get a Calamity film at some point.
- And a passing of the torch from Purvan to Vax. Going from Vax getting the shit beat out of him, to him then accepting his fate and coming back and saving everyone. I love it so much.
- The tensions between Percy and Vax beginning...
- The necklace for Trinket!
- Was not expecting that little jumpscare at all... though I really like them adding these Calamity flashbacks as part of becoming the new Champion of the Matron of Ravens.
- Westruun in flames...
EP. 5
- BABY KEYLETH!
- “Pass through fire” reference. I’m a little sad that the context has changed so much, but I appreciate that the sentiment still exists in this world. I guess this also means we won’t be seeing Kerrek at all. (Which makes sense given Lyra and Thorbir were also cut.)
- Grog and Kraven Edge. Simultaneously the funniest and most terrifying relationship in the show. Also love that they included the Grog and Scanlan convo.
- Pike and Grog singing together! I love it.
- And the secrets of the broom unlocked!
- Was Vax this much of an asshole during this part of the campaign? I don’t remember him being this much of a dick towards Keyleth...
- KIMA AND ALLURA! HELL YES!
- “You know what you fight fire with?” “Fire?” “Me.” Never change Grog.
- “We can certainly try.” Fucking incredible. I love it so much.
- I love any time Percy loses his cool.
- ALLURA. FUCKING. VYSOREN.
- I have very little recollection of Keyleth and her dad together in campaign, so I love getting to see them together here.
- I wonder if between the Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein series we’ll get to see Keyleth and her mother reunite.
- Keyleth is the best member of the team. I will not be taking any questions or criticisms.
- Seeing Keyleth’s new look, my brain immediately goes to getting the red tunic to resist fire in Ocarina of Time...
- Plane shifting beginnings.
EP. 6
- And now getting into Grog’s backstory a little more. I love that season one was them solidifying them as a team, and now season two is letting us see more into their individual backstories.
- Oh Percy...
- My recollection is that Scanlan never let anyone manhandle him in the campaign. He always insisted that everyone else heal themselves first and refused to be picked up most of the time. (With the occasional exception during battle like the fast-ball special.)
- Kraven Edge is terrifying
- Sphinxes are so cool
- Arcane Piano. This is ridiculous and amazing all at once.
- During the campaign I never stopped to consider what it actually looks like when Scanlan stop to sing in the middle of battle.
- Scanlan bonding with the Sphinx was not what I expected from this trial. But I love it.
- MYTHCARVER! Time to slay a Pit Fiend.
- Not as brutal as ending on Liam/Vax’s sobs last week, but that was still awful.
- I'm interested to see where this goes because so far Pike is their only healer, unlike the campaign where Vex, Scanlan, and Keyleth were also able to heal when needed.

Bagginshield notes upon a reread of "The Hobbit"
(Or a relisten, rather, via the "An Unexpected Journey" podcast. And thusly, I have no page numbers noted for reference. These being mostly gathered for personal eventual fanart purposes, now with a moment of commentary at the end.)
~
"Upon my word - Gandalf spoke true, as usual. A pretty fine burglar you make, it seems, when the time comes." - Thorin to Bilbo, once he finally finds him in the dungeons of Mirkwood.
~
"Then...the Dwarves' good feeling toward the Hobbit grew stronger every day."
~
"And there is no knowing what a Dwarf will not dare and do for revenge, and the recovery of his own." - In Laketown.
~
"Now is the time for our esteemed Mister Baggins, who has proved himself a good companion on our long road, and a Hobbit full of courage and resource far exceeding his size - and if I may say so, possessed of good luck far exceeding the usual allowance - now is the time for him to perform the service for which he was included in our Company. Now is the time for him to earn his reward. This is a great moment..."
.....
...By now he was quite familiar with Thorin too, and he knew what he was driving at. "If you mean you think it my job to go into the secret passage first, oh Thorin Thrainson Oakenshield, may your beard grow ever longer!" he said crossly, "Say so at once and have done! I may refuse - I've gotten you out of two messes already which were hardly in the original bargain, so that I am, I think, already owed some reward. But... third time pays for all, as my father used to say. And somehow I don't think I shall refuse..."
.....
"....they would all have done their best to get him out of trouble, if he got into it, as they did in the case of the Trolls, at the beginning of their adventures, before they had any particular reasons for being grateful to him."
(all above in context of Bilbo's entering the mountain and confronting Smaug first.)
~
General note without quote - Thorin being the first to insist that they go after him, when he cries that his torch has gone out, crying for help, in the darkness of the hoard while Smaug is gone.
Also he does still put the mithril on Bilbo himself, like in the film.
Bilbo is the one that calls Thorin back to his sense from the first traces of gold sickness, reminding him that they haven't defeated Smaug yet and they still need to find a way out. Vibes of Sacred Marriage like many moments in the films.
~
"Oh dear me... more walking and more climbing without breakfast! I wonder how many breakfasts and other meals we have missed inside that nasty... timeless hole!" ....
"Come come," said Thorin laughing. His spirits had begun to rise again, and he rattled the precious stones in his pockets. "Don't call my palace a nasty hole. You wait until it has been cleaned and redecorated."  - On Thorin being cheered and amused by Bilbo's grumbling after they've gotten out of the mountain (after they've visited the hoard for the first time, too).
~
And just the fact that the deathbed apology happens at all.
~
So, having done this re-listen of the original tale, I'm struck by two things.
1 - Tolkien probably intended no romance at all between anyone in this book. Which is great from an aro/ace perspective (which I say with love and enthusiasm, as a demisexual myself). BUT nothing in the book would prevent Bagginshield from being possible.
2 - This version of the story feels very very much to me like the version Bilbo would tell - to others, and himself - after coming home and settling back into Bag End and embracing how he's grown... and accepting what happened. Like talking about it that way, leaving much of the details of his emotional connections with anyone (including Thorin) out of the telling, makes it easier to move on and keep living. Very much in the same line of having friendzoned himself at the end of "The Battle of the Five Armies," to create that distance and protect his broken heart.
(Which doesn't account for the lack of focus on the Dwarrow reclaiming Erebor as their homeland, since there is zero focus on or mention of that in the book at all, but in general I accept this headcanon as a patch between the book and the films - which I appreciate all the more now.)
So, there 🌱
~
More Bagginshield meta:
~ Thoughts on "An Unexpected Journey" - Thoughts on "The Desolation of Smaug" - Thoughts on "The Battle of Five Armies" - Thoughts on their vibe and why they resonate - Thoughts on Dwarven Ones and Hobbit soul-matches at their first meeting - at the mountain ~

~Tell It to My Heart~
title: A Queen, A Hunter, and Their Star
Dialogue #8: “I’ll be damned if I let someone else touch you like that again.”
Rook x male!OC (belongs to @pinkskytwst )  x Vil
Read on AO3
Tumblr media
"Is it not wonderful to have such a beauty to grace us with his presence, Roi de Poison?" Rook asks, letting his gaze drift towards their other partner.
Curly dark red hair bounces as Robyn speaks. Stars shine in his eyes, making them sparkle as he continues with nonstop passion. The same cannot be said for the one he is speaking to. Another Pomefiore student has little to no interest in the subject he's speaking on. Alchemy by the sound of it, or so Rook hears. The poor soul looks rather bored despite the enthusiasm that Robyn projects.
It's a shame, really, that many can't comprehend the beauty of passion. The way it makes a voice turn into a melodic song, orchestrating a new piece for the world to hear. Or how it makes one's eyes sparkle in even the darkest of places. The way a person can shine brighter than the sun when they decide to speak to lose themselves in what they love.
It's something that Vil loves about him. He easily makes his heart sway, like an actor putting on their finest performance. And he simply adores the stage that Robyn puts on for himself. How anyone can't appreciate his tangents is a mystery to him.
"Of course it is," Vil answers. He allows himself a glance at the other boy before returning to his current project. Hands perfect a stack of papers. Words neatly printed on each one that turn out to be a script. The film club had been quite stagnant the past couple of months and Vil intended to produce something outstanding for their lack of productions. "Would you dare say otherwise?"
"Non! You know my answer," Rook replies with a smile. Green hues dart back towards the two. "Should I interrupt them? You know how he gets and his prey is simply..."
Vil huffs.
"If he's smart, he won't lay a finger on him."
Vil's eyes flick away from his papers. Robyn could come off as annoying to some, but surely no one would dare do anything while he and Rook are in the vicinity. They'd have to be a true fool if they did.
As if on cue to try and challenge Vil's words, the student lashes out. A hand grips Robyn's wrist. The sound of his journal dropping to the floor is what causes heads to turn. The queen and the hunter are the first to lock eyes on the scene.
Vil's eyes darken. A disgusting rage boiling inside him already. Partially at the student and himself. He should have known that a lowly potato would react this way. But one from his dorm? It seems he hasn't been keeping his students in top shape as he wished.
He says nothing as he sets aside his papers. Heels click loudly against the floor. The queen doesn't need to make his presence known, but he does. The other student tenses up as the sound of clicks grows louder and louder.
"Do you have business with him?" Vil asks while putting his hands on his hips. He keeps his head high while looking down at the unfortunate student. If looks could kill, he would be incinerated on the spot.
"I-I just wanted him to stop talking..." He weakly protests.
"Oh? And why not simply ask instead of choosing a violent path? It's children like you that need to be taught a lesson. And being under my command, I'll ensure that it's the finest one of all."
Vil holds his pen in hand and it glistens. That alone is enough to make the student free Robyn from his grasp and run. An expected outcome, but he forgets that Vil is never alone. He doesn't even need to make eye contact with Rook or speak his name. The hunter understands what needs to be done. With a slight tip of his hat, the predator begins a beautiful chase.
The moment that Rook is out of sight, Vil turns his attention to Robyn. His eyes soften as he meets with those blue ones. Calm and lovely and haven't lost their shine despite the harsh reaction from that silly potato.
"Did he hurt you?" He asks, a hand already gently taking his own.
"I'm fine!" Robyn chirps in response. It stings a bit, but he figures it's due to it being recent. He's more concerned over his journal and how Vil and Rook are faring. "Thanks for stepping in. I guess I kinda went overboard, huh?"
"Nonsense," Vil brushes off his apology. It's shocking how uplifting he can be despite the scene he caused. "He should have spoken up if he wanted a better outcome." A sigh escapes him and he quietly mutters. "I'll be damned if I let someone else touch you like that again."
He dislikes the use of such 'vulgar' language. It's not beautiful nor does it befit him or anyone, but he makes an exception this once. Robyn and Rook are special and important to him. And no one is allowed to cast harm on them. No one.

"I'm such a bad person," I said. I was caught lying, I haven't read the book he gave me on my birthday.
"You're not a bad person, you're just a bad girlfriend... sometimes."
Davi always knows what to say, that's one thing for sure. The things he said are almost always true and delivered in the right way. I knew he was just being nice to add "sometimes" at the end, because... really, most of the time, (we both know) I'm the bad guy in this partnership.
I think it's time for me to finally write about Davi, B. Regardless of the promise I made for him, I also want this little world (or space of my blog?) to know deeper about him, about us, about these past two years, about everything and every thought I have about him. The fact is, writing about him is very difficult. Aside from my deteriorating writing skill, I always feel like I could never write about him and/or my feelings (for him, in particular) adequately . Deep down, gue merasa udah terlanjur terintimidasi dengan semua tulisan (be it in the form of long whatsapp text, love letter, etc) yang pernah dia kirim ke gue, because he is such a great writer. I couldn't help but feel obliged to build a cool impression through sophisticated, catchy writings.. yang jatohnya malah membuat gue takut untuk mulai. Well, Davi, this is me trying to not be scared anymore.
My surrounding knows that we have been dating for quite a while now. Like many relationship at our age nowadays, we did not exactly know or mark the date of when we truly became each other's partner (I don't really fancy the word 'girlfriend' and 'boyfriend'). There was no dating proposal or any similar deal. We just started to see each other regularly, from once a weekend to twice a weekend, until multiple times in a week if our schedules fit (now it's more like any time you & I are available, we should meet!!!). The rendezvous were certainly intentional to lean towards romantic affairs, even since the beginning.
The funny thing is we didn't exactly talk back then in college, although we were in the same community. He was always a Bang Davi Film to me (he was in the film division of perfilma), and nothing more, yet somehow I always thought we actually share the same vibe and we could talk about a lot of things if the moment is right. There was just never a right timing in college... (I often got mellow and wondering how come our paths didn't really cross and we didn't start this whole thing since college, so we can spend longer times with each other? But just like you said, perhaps we couldn't even make it back then. Each of us are different person than who we are in the past, and I think that's fair). Still and all, he is the kind of person I could and want to talk to, but I was shy and (still) bad at flirting. There were only two significant encounters in college. First, the one when he drove me (and others) home to Cikini after an event. I remember I was the last person you drove home in the car and even if it was such a brief moment, I was surprised that he noticed my uneasiness about something that night. Something unnoticeable. Second, the night when we talked randomly about our belief on love at first sight in also a perfilma event. I shared my belief and encounter about love at first sight in front of you, whose somewhat seemed to be skeptical but still being respectful and attentive. I also happened to talk about my fear of not having anyone find me attractive that night. There was something about him that made talking feels so easy, even when he's practically still a stranger to me. At the event, everyone is required to leave a note for everybody. I remember I secretly hoped that you'd also left me a note. I wondered if our conversations the night before left you any significant impression or meant something to you. At the end of the trip, I remembered I blushed all the way home... because he left me a note.
Tumblr media
Nothing happened afterwards, B, nothing happened. We continued lives being each other's acquaintances who see and comment on each other's Instagram story every once in a while. He had a relationship, I also had a situationship (haha). We went back being strangers. Long story short; at the early of 2022, I saw Davi moving to Bandung for his work. I felt sort of an excitement by imagining the probability of stumbling upon him in town. And one day, on my birthday, he wished me happy birthday on private message, and I was flabbergasted. Yup, that's where it all started, B. We started to getting know each other after years being acquaintances. We talked about what strangers normally would talk; work, career, music, movies, traveling, places we'd love to visit, family, etc. He even helped me with work, doing some research about the Continental Shelf Bill (dengan super niat dan format super rapi!!). Well, I must say he was quite strategic, helping me with that research for a trade off... a date with me. I was making an attempt to pay him back with Llaollao, something he said he'd wanted to try. He said;
Tumblr media
Beside being strategic, the thing I admire about Davi is he's very straightforward and confident. He's the "let's cut the chase/BS"-kind of person when it comes to dating, he doesn't play any game and he is clear about his romantic intention. Our first date went sucks. The traffic was crazy, we arrived too late to Selasar Sunaryo as they would close in forty five minutes. We had coffee and conversations. There were lots of silence as we've talked about the 'surface' things already in chat. Until he broke the silence and raise a question about my past love life. As a person who used to take things slowly, an avoidant, and a person who easily freaks out over romantic stuffs... I freaked out. I felt this kind of conversation went too fast & we were not there yet, so I quickly went to the powder room to escape... lol. Our dinner, also, sucks. We wanted to go to Jardin but the queue was long and we were starving, so we went to this italian bistro nearby where (i) all the food were bad and overpriced; (ii) the portion was too small we were still hungry afterwards; (iii) the waitress dropped the glass, spilled the drink everywhere on the floor and made it all awkward. It felt like world against this date that day and there's nothing can be done to save the night. Frankly, it was the worst date I've ever experienced. Seeing Dabi looks so hopeless and sad, I felt bad and asked him if he wanted to go for a wedang ronde, my favorite dessert. I'm glad we went, because going to somewhere casual eventually loosen us up. The burden of "having the perfect romantic first date" suddenly no longer exist, it was as if we're going out as friends for a street food stalls, having non-romantic topics to talk about. We talked about his band and listening to him singing the songs in the car. It was actually pretty intimate too.
Tumblr media
Despite the terrible first date, there were sparks. Those sparks led on to countless dates afterwards, hours of phone calls and conversations, we subconsciously became each other's part of lives for the past two years now. Two years passed in a blink. Looking back, we had a lot of ups and downs not only in this partnership but also in each of our personal lives. As I'm writing this, I just realized how he always exist and contribute to every canon event of my adulthood these past two years. I could never forget all Davi's role in my life; be it when he helped me study for my IELTS test, persistently gives me ride everywhere and pick me up from the train station (even when I don't want to), took me to take my IELTS test, had covid together and spent the days facetiming each other, helped me went through lots of tests, hugged me up and took me to watch happy movies after I failed the test, proofread and gave personal feedback towards my essays, listened to all my rants about work and shitty days, treated me in chivalry up until now, showered me with affection and never got tired of keep doing so despite my cold personality. Other than being a great partner, I saw him as a teammate. I couldn't ask for a better travel mate than him! We make such a great team when we're traveling together. I love the way he tries to make my life easier; as simple as naro kardus isi stok air minum di tempat yang paling gampang gue jangkau di mobil, picked me up in the middle of the night after work, help me in all my work an non-work assignments; running to catch the bus and hold it for me, carrying my heavy carry-ons, opening the door for me (he's that chivalrous), letting me playing my playlist in his car, taking photos for me, helping me creating itinerary for my eurotrip, and so much more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
B, I think this partnership changed each of us in some kind of way. To be frank, it wasn't easy on the first months. It turns out we have the opposite personality and ways to express love. He introduced me to a whole new kind of affection I have never experienced in my life; romantic, chivalrous, compassionate and tender. I felt embarrassed, weird, and undeserving receiving real affection, as the only kind of love I've experienced was tough love. I wasn't built to easily give affection and romantic gesture, and he expected to receive it. The line between tough love that I know and simply being mean was kind of blurry, he often get hurt back then (I'm sorry!). But I think that's the part of process having a relationship with someone. When we love a person and commit to make things work, we gradually learn to drop our ego and compromise. And the way I see it, it applies to all kind of relationship too; friendship, family, work.
B, my time's up. Davi has already arrived, picking me up to go for another date. Today after attending an invitation, we're gonna celebrate our 2 year anniversary. There's so much more I could tell about him, about all the fun things we did during our trips, about our plans, about small things we laugh, about how we re-do our first date for our first anniversary last year (and it turned out so much better!). I'll write about it more in another time. Turns out, writing about Davi was not as hard as I thought.

General informations:
Name: Andrein du Loup Noir Revenant
Based on: Armand (Vampire Chronicles, mostly from the books)
Species: Vampire
Age: physically 17 (but he is older than Léandre)
Birthday: January 1st
Height: 174 cm
Dorm:… suggestions?
Class: 3-D
Favorite subject: Conjuration
Club: theatre club
Favorite food: dark hot chocolate (with lots of cream, thanks)
Least favorite food: coffee
Hobbies: Acting (better than Léandre), visiting museums, watching romantic films
Unique magic:
“You always loved me”: he can create a false memory for anyone he wants, but these memories will fade over time.
Background:
Andrein shares the same sire as Léandre. To be honest, before Léandre there was him at the court of Nocturne Town, a sweet angel picked up from a cold and isolated street for his too kind face.
Andrein was extremely loyal to his creator, loving, servile… maybe too much. When Léandre entered his life, the first feeling was wonder, desire. There was no envy because the newcomer had been chosen as heir, but there was something dark, a hidden jealousy. Was it because the new prince had become the king's favorite perhaps? But was it because he had stolen the looks from him or ... because he wanted those violet eyes to look only at him? Yet when he tried to get closer… there was a refusal.
Léandre did not like him, the king did not care about him ... the only refuge he found was in the arms of his mentor - his and Léandre -, an elderly vampire, sweet towards him, who seemed - or seems - to adore him more than all the others but… maybe too much, or maybe not enough.
If you knew what really are the wounds inside Andrein's heart, you wouldn't be surprised at how distorted his mind can seem.
Personality:
If Léandre is a labyrinth yes, but perhaps a labyrinth in the moonlight, Andrein is a labyrinth on a stormy night. He is such a delicate and fragile creature, so easy to break and send to hell ... but count on it that he will drag you with him.
If he hates you he will ruin you, if he loves you he will do anything to keep you with him. He's not good enough for you, he knows it, but you can't leave him.
His very fragility is his sword, his extreme insecurity is his lifeline.
However, he is not unreasonable, on the contrary, he knows how to be extremely calculating, he knows how to play any part he wants to play. It follows that he is not the simplest person in the world to relate to, you have to be a steadfast person to overcome his whims - because after all they are nothing but that - but if he really trusts someone it is not impossible to bring him back to his senses, especially if he begins to feel a sincere affection that goes beyond love for himself.
Ironically, if he sees a person in pain he can be a very good emotional support and is very good at understanding what they need in that moment.
Between him and Léandre there is a feeling of love and hate that seems more tending to hatred, but perhaps deep down it is more love ... but I advise you not to name the vampire prince in front of him, just in case.
Trivia:
- Between him and Ciaran there is a strange, unlikely bond of affection (attraction?).
-He too would be a great chocolate lover, but he only eats dark chocolate so as not to be like Léandre.
- But like Léandre, he too is "vaguely" attracted to Malleus (maybe he too has a weakness for the black hair - green eyes combo? Who knows why).
-His favorite animal is the squirrel.
-He is unsure about his physical appearance.
-When he drinks the blood he blushes.
- He has a snake bites piercing.
- He is pansexual, but he seems to attract mostly boys and he wonders why.

Werewolf by Night (2022) Review
Tumblr media
Anyone else agree the Marvel Studios logo is super indulgent? Their title card before each film/tv show is over 30 seconds long as is, and additionally in Werewolf by Night the Marvel Studios logo is shown three times - first comes “Marvel Studios Special Presentation”, then followed by the usual half-a-minute title logo and then straight away ‘Marvel Studios Presents’. Like yes, we get it, you guys are a big deal. So much so that you have managed to get away with making a load of content after Avengers: Endgame and most of it being a pile of sh**, yet still make the dollar. Yep, I said it. Get your act together Feige. When’s that Deadpool/Wolverine crossover scheduled for?
Plot: On a dark and sombre night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader; the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic.
So following my little rant at the beginning of this review about how bad Phase 4 of the MCU has been, Werewolf by Night is actually quite good. Yep, talk about smooth transitions. My point is though what makes this Disney+ offering stand out is that it shows that the folks at Marvel are at least trying to attempt something different here. A call-back to the 30s/40s era of Universal monster movies, with the black-and-white grainy filter and over-the-top characters and featuring, well, monsters.
Interestingly enough this also happens to be the directorial debut of Michael Giacchino. For those wondering why that name may sound familiar, this cool geezer *never will I ever use the word ‘geezer’ again, that felt weird and peculiar territory which I will never tread towards ever again, I do apologise*, any way, so this cool Giacchino dude is the man that’s been composing all the cool blockbuster movies that Hans Zimmer hasn’t for the past few years. Like this fella’s done it all - think Star Trek, think Planet of the Apes, think Star Wars, think Pixar, Jurassic World, Batman, fricking Cars 2! What hasn’t this guy composed!? Well, the Lord of the Rings fan within me acknowledges he never did any Middle Earth music, but let’s be honest, who would dare compete with Howard Shore! Ah just remember when Aragorn, Frodo and the fellowship walk through the misty mountains towards Caradhras as Shore plunges his orchestra to the mighty depths of Khazad-Dum and you can feel the instruments literally burning the atmosphere with its mastery!!! Sorry, I’ve recently been thinking of rewatching the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so I’m a bit in the zone.
Anyway, that Giacchino guy, what did he do? Well, he directed Werewolf by Night and you can tell a composer directed this project, as the use of sound and music to build up tension and build to the bigger moments in the scenes here could have only been accomplished by a man with a very acute sense of hearing. And overall Giacchino seems to be a fan of those aforementioned monster movies. The use of retro style smoke and mirrors, cigarette burns and the use of practical effects, especially for the main werewolf that is evidently inspired by The Wolf Man, however I couldn’t unsee Nicholas Hoult’s Beast from the X-Men movies. It all does look really cool, and very unique, and though it never hits the cheesy level high’s of those original monster movies such as Dracula and Frankenstein, it’s a very unique direction for a Marvel production. I have also seen many other reviews mention how this is a gorier MCU outing, and I can see where they are coming from, but due to the use of black and white they are able to get away with it, as you don’t see any blood colours. As such its pretty harmless in that regard.
I enjoyed Werewolf by Night. Gael Garcia Bernal brings his usual likeable relatable vulnerability to the lead role, and Michael Giacchino exhibits qualities of a filmmaker who actually cares to bring something different to the table, yet not afraid to take inspiration from previous great works. Heck, where other Marvel projects would try to go bigger, Giacchino opts to go smaller. When the transformation of the werewolf occurs, he does so off-screen, and the camera instead slowly zooms closer and closer on the face of the terrified Elsa (played by Laura Donnelly) as we see only the shadowy silhouette of the man turning into a monster. It’s a neat trick that really heightens the tension and anticipation… and when we finally do see the werewolf, we then can enjoy a very satisfying rampage. But perhaps the biggest treat is Harriet Sansom Harris as Verusa, Ulysses’ widow and the night’s master of ceremonies, delivering an over-the-top performance that gives the whole affair huge theater-kid energy. Then again, there’s also a character named Ted in this thing, and he’s an example of comedy in Marvel done right. But no spoilers, if you’re wondering about who Ted is, you’re just going to have to go and watch Werewolf by Night.
Overall score: 7/10

I haven't had as much time to sit and ruminate over Young Royals, like a good percentage of the Fandom has. Granted, I've watched Season 1 repeatedly and have lost count. But, I still feel my theories and analysis are subpar because I'm probably repeating things that others have already touched upon. (No, I'm not looking for sympathy, it's just where my brain is right now.)
I have been sitting on several thoughts about Young Royals and what Season 2 may bring our way. It's not that I feel my thoughts are irrelevant, I just wonder if I'm grasping at straws here. So, I'm going to apologize in advance for my long winded analysis.
Ever since I first watched Young Royals back in March, I got some serious Shakespeareian vibes. I don't know how big Shakespeare is in Europe yet alone Sweden, but there is a slight parallel to Romeo and Juliet for Season 1.
Wilhelm and Simon are pretty much star-crossed lovers. They come from two totally different worlds. Especially, when you take into account that at the start of the season there is a very big prejudice against non-boarder attendees. Simon and Sara are pretty much looked down upon by fellow students because they come from a working class family. So, there's our rivaling "families" right there.
Like Romeo and Juliet, I do believe, for Wilhelm and Simon it was love at first sight. We all know that Wilhelm smiled, truly smiled, for the first time when he heard Simon sing at his welcoming assembly. From there, their interactions in episode 1 built up the connection that formed between the two of them. The "will you stop being a little shit" scene at the end of the episode is when realization dawned on them that this was something more than just a budding friendship. Which feels like a rendition of the masquerade ball scene when Romeo confesses his undying love for Juliet, just less flowery and more of a slow burn leading up to Wilhelm and Simon's first kiss in episode 2.
Crown Prince Erik, in my opinion, represents Mercutio. Like Mercutio, Erik's death is the catalyst that brings forth the events of the second act of Season 1. Because Wilhelm has to dawn the role of Crown Prince, he's forced to keep up appearances. Which causes Wilhelm to deny Simon in the beginning of act two. We all know that doesn't last long.
The soccer field scene has some parallels to the balcony scene between Romeo and Juliet. Wilhelm’s inhibitions have been drowned out by alcohol and drugs allowing him to open up to Simon. It wasn't necessarily a love confession. ("But I like you. And that is not fake.") It was Wilhelm pretty much telling Simon that he wants to be with him. Again, not very flowery, but it was still a very beautiful scene.
Wilhelm and Simon's two most intimate scenes together reminds me of Romeo and Juliet's last night before Romeo gets banished from Verona. They are euphoric moments offing the boys several hours of bliss. It's their reprieve before all hell breaks loose.
And finally, we come to what makes this story tragic. It doesn't involve the death of our star-crossed lovers but the lose of love. The one thing that brought happiness to these boys. (Now, don't get me wrong, I still believe they love eachother, but the Crown Prince is going to be working towards regaining his love's trust.) August filming, then leaking their most intimate moment set forth a series of events that threw Wilhelm smack dab in the middle of conformity. The one thing Wilhelm despises the most. His hand is forced and he has to deny the video in order for the Monarchy to save face. It turn, Simon finally puts his foot down and does something to benefit himself by telling Wilhelm that he doesn't want to be anyone's secret.
And, we all know the "I love you" isn't reciprocated in the end.
So, that's it. That's what's been floating around my head for several months now. Again, sorry for the long winded analysis. Hope you guys enjoyed the long ass read.
