I’ve begun writing my very first fanfic (Percy Jackson - Harry potter crossover) but I don’t know how to get it to the right audience. I’ve posted it on wattpad and AO3, but that doesn’t seem to be doing much. I’d be grateful for suggestions and counsel ✨

i would never @ my beloved vlogbrothers about this bc that would just be drama bait. with that in mind:

i was reminiscing about my history as a nerdfighter (The community / fandom centred around the Green brothers as artists, educators, personalities, & role models) and got one of Hank Green[ and The Perfect Strangers]'s old Harry Potter songs stuck in my head - by virtue of just remembering it exists - and just kinda being grimly amused by such an earnest and loving song dedicated to an artist who is just a known massive piece of shit at this point.

and also just being amused and disappointed in the naivete of both 12 y/o me and uh *checks notes* 34 y/o Hank in thinking this billionaire-brit must be pretty cool and decent bc she's a philanthropist who owns an IP we like. The best parts of her work (and based on the critical love they give their own online community I think the Green Bro's know this) were the bits that had nothing to do with her. at the far end of "not canon" is not-for-profit fandom stuff that's talked about between a small group of friends. but there are also just so many people who made HP more than just one shitty white cishets work. Every director, concept artist, editor, actor - as well as otherwise BtS workers like VFX artists, caterers, and custodial staff - added to this work. And it's sad how deeply it's all been stained by her bigotry and ignorance.

I do ultimately think it's Not Good™ to buy and promote any of her work but in this small semi-private space I just wanted to talk about my ✨feelings✨

So I’m noticing a wave of HP fans following me againand I just wanted to let yall know that I’m DONE with that franchise. It’s over. Period.

I will never be making HP fanart again. Why?

I am a trans artist.

The terf who shall not be named does not deserve a single drop more of my creativity, my artistry, or my energy. She doesn’t believe I should exist. She supports organizations that advocate for acts of violence against people like me. She thinks that I’m an “abused woman” and my trans sisters are “sexual predators”. She pays millions to lawmakers and NGOs to create laws that would destroy the lives of people like me. She believes that we are the enemy. How could I possibly support, enjoy, or even like the franchise that gave her the platform to spread this vile bullshit?

Maybe you don’t care. Fine. Just know that she is the reason why I’m not making HP fanart anymore. Just know that I’m judging you for loving fictional characters more than real, living, breathing human beings. I refuse to continue contributing to a franchise owned by a woman who, to this day, attacks my literal right to exist.

Thaavia says she's got a bad case of wanderlust, which is... not exactly a lie, but it's less about Seeing Other Places and more about Not Staying Put, because in her line of work a paladin who stays in one place, particularly a healer paladin, starts building a Reputation, and with a Reputation comes Influence. And given some of the stuff in her history, she has a deep aversion to power and influence in her own hands because of how she might misuse it, what she was once willing to sacrifice to get it. She's afraid to put down roots because she's terrified of bearing that same kind of fruit and poisoning some poor motherfucker in the long run.

(This also lowkey extends to her personal relationships, her longest running romantic partner is an open relationship with someone she sees maybe four or five times a year because they're both off doing their own thing and can't settle down yet. And that's been the case for a decade. She probably won't know what do do with something that's going to be Permanent and going to be Right There when she finally gets it.)

💖 SPARKLING HEART - are they a subtle or a showy lover?

She's a very stoic woman at first glance (and very intentionally so, it's a carefully crafted facade/reputation) and if you don't bother to get to know her, she may come across as entirely cold. But if you pay attention and actually get to know her at all, it's... well it's not exactly flashy, rarely any big fancy gestures or anything like that. But it's not exactly subtle either, and it's constant. Little gifts, making sure her partner is eating well, helping them get ready in the morning just to have an excuse to put her hands on them, going from nicknames to pet names, considerably more touchy than she is with anyone else, that sort of thing.

Chapter 11 of 'A Guiding Light'

It was Saturday morning and as usual, Harry was taking care of Teddy. He had just fed Teddy his bottle when Harry heard a knock on the door. He stood up, Teddy still in his arms and went to open the door. He was greeted by Ginny, who stayed put for a second as she took in the sight and he could only imagine what it looked like. He was opening the door with a baby that resembled him so much in his arms. Teddy would always change his appearance to the person holding him if he liked them. Currently, he was sporting black hair and green eyes. There was a burping cloth over Harry's shoulder and he put his wand behind his ear and his hair back in a small bun. He had been thinking about cutting it as it got in the way when taking care of Teddy.

"Morning, Gin," he greeted.

"Did I miss something?" she said with a chuckle, eyeing the two.

1971 Pontiac Trans Am

A new 1971 Trans Am on the showroom floor. If you were in the market for a high performance sporty car in 1971, there wasn't much not to like about the 1971 Trans Am.

Standard equipment included ; 455 H.O. rated at 335 gross hp (305 net hp), M22 4-speed, Safe-T-Track, F60x15 white letter tires, Rally II wheels, body colored outside mirrors, Formula steering wheel, full set of gauges including an 8000 rpm tach and 160 mph speedo, power steering, power disc brakes, HD sway bars front/rear, and on the outside were functional spoilers, air extractors, and shaker hood scoop.

They handled like a go-kart and were extremely stable at high speeds thanks to aerodynamics, plus they ran the 1/4 mile in the low 14-second bracket straight off the showroom floor.

All this for around $4,500, about $1,000 less than a base 1971 Corvette Sport Coupe that came with a 350 rated at 270 gross hp, just 210 net hp.

I call this one YOUR PUTRID FLESH WITHERS UNDER THE UNBLINKING GAZE OF MY DIVINE CONTEMPT. We're making a Manticore build; this is not the place for subtle or pithy names.

This is a melee-only build, which I normally recommend against. I think it's good for a build to have at least some sort of ranged attack capability, but in this case, there's just no room for it. We're ride or die here, and diluting the build by hedging our bets is just going to tip the scales towards "die."

You are not particularly fast, so we've got the Pankrati valiant charge and Beckoner to help you close gaps. What you want to do at that point is slam in as fast as you can and try to connect with a Main melee attack (Duelist gives you an accuracy to help with that) - not your Heavy, one of your Mains. You then immediately use Duelist 3 to spend the Blademaster die you just earned to free-Grapple the target, and then you use Titanomachy Mesh to follow up the free-Grapple with a free-Ram (and because they're Grappled, Brawler 1 turns on, making your Ram more accurate, and because being Grappled causes them to become Immobilized, Pankrati 1 also turns on, making your Ram EVEN MORE ACCURATE). Knock your enemy Prone but do not knock them away.

To summarize: your target has taken Main Melee damage from you, become Grappled, then been rammed Prone. Because Grappled causes Immobilization, they cannot use their regular movement to stand up from Prone, and because of Synthetic Muscle Netting, unless they're larger than you, they cannot ever gain control of the grapple.

If they don't have weapons or abilities that knock you away, they have two real options to get away from you. The first is to spend a quick action trying to escape the grapple, which they can fail, wasting the action entirely. Even if they succeed, they still either need to crawl away provoking your Overwatch (use your Heavy for this) or use their entire regular movement to stand back up, then their other quick action to Boost away, again provoking your Overwatch.

The second, if they're the same size as you or larger, is to Ram you back. This is more effective, since your Evasion is low, and knocking you away will break the grapple. This still only leaves you one space away from them, which is still within Threat of your Nanocarbon Sword, and unless they have a modifier that deals damage on Ram (which, to my knowledge, no vanilla NPC does), they've spent 2/3rds of their turn just getting 1 space away from you and standing upright. If they decline to move away from you, you can just stand up on your turn and Skirmish 2 spaces towards them to do the whole thing all over again.

If they are a melee class, their best bet is to focus you down, but with 2 Armor and resistance to two types of damage, that's harder than it looks - and if they're focusing on you, they're not attacking your team's squishies, which is the whole point of the Defender class.

If they're a ranged class, they're fucked. With you up in their grill, their attacks against everyone including you become inaccurate. Artillery NPC classes don't tend to have much HP, and rely on staying far away from players. If a weapon has Ordnance, they can't even fire it at you at all if they're in engagement.

On your next turn, if your target is still grappled, activate your Lightning Generator, and then Barrage. Your attack sequence looks like this:

Chain Axe -> free Ram (Duelist 3), no knockback -> free Ram (Titanomachy Mesh), no knockback -> Nanocarbon Sword

Against unarmored targets, this has a damage floor of 9 assuming all attacks hit, and will slam for 5 even if all your attacks miss. Lightning Generator will do different amounts of damage depending on whether you're in the Danger Zone, but Charged Exoskeleton will always trigger off of Lightning Generator (if you choose) and will always deal 2 AP.

Note that if you're in control of the grapple (which, thanks to SMN, you usually are), you can still make your standard move. This means you can drag your victim 4 spaces towards or away from your friends.

When you turn on your ult, enemies have an even more miserable time, because now not only are there two forms of damage you're resistant to, you're also resistant to Heat (which means you can Overcharge for half price). Worse, any Heat or Energy damage you take now increases a doomsday clock.

Be warned that this build only has 19 HP, and even with 2 Armor you're not going to last forever, but on the other hand, enemies must focus on you or you'll just be able to tear them apart one by one.
