Never been more glad that F1's Bak-u!

You guys know I can't just let it be without making the pun, right?

So, I have a new job and first week at it I'm free Wednesday and Thursday aaaaaand I have to work on the weekend, so I have to watch it all late 🥲

Anyway, since there's a Sprint race and I don't even know what else this weekend, I'll post today about, well, today. And on Sunday, I'll post about everything else.

Onto the good stuff, since I've checked my Twitter notifications every now and then during work hours to keep up at least, but now I need to watch.

Press conference - Thursday

It's been a little too long since Australia, as Yuki says. I'm honestly so stoked about the Franz Tost stepping down at the end of the season thing, Yuki just reminded me about the Merc admin being unhinged about it with Lewis' picture 🤣

I love how Kevin can't really be bothered about Günther's book. He sometimes reminds me of Kimi, without the 200% indifference. Isn't this turning into a gossip wall? I need to rethink commenting on the press conferences 🤪

I read on here something about Esteban talking about Australia saying that Charles, Pierre, George and him when they flew back together called themselves The Loser Club. I mean... poor babies, but yes 🤣

Lewis talking about his brothers is always something that touches my heart, because he's so proud of him. That's how it should be, but it's still endearing to see him talk about his family every time.

I also need to say that JAMES ALLISON IS FINALLY BACK. Oh dear God, let this be the time Merc turns it around. Seriously, we need James more than ever. I know Lewis will always be neutral commenting on the shitshow that Merc are pulling since 2021, but I am hopeful now.

Other than that I haven't heard much more that was interesting, so I'm gonna start watching today's stuff now.

Free Practice 1 - Friday

The one good thing about watching everything hours later is that you can skip all the time spent in the pits because of the Red Flags.

Yuki blasting his tyre, Carlos having trouble, Kevin stopping and Pierre with an engine on fire. What the hell... Obviously, getting a Red Flag after Pierre's car caught fire.

Anyway, in the mean, time, how beautiful is this city? I said it last year as well, it's absolutely stunning.

15 minutes to go and that's about it it seems... I might be wrong, not sure much more really happened. Well, like it wasn't enough.

And that was about it. We'll see what happens in Quali, I love this track and it can be quite the madness. Sure hope so.

Quali - Friday

Now that's one miracle that Alpine pulled with Pierre's car. Damn. Finally, Q1, here we go!

Ah, the slight hope of seeing Lewis P1. That will last very little. Zhou oversteering and skipping the turn was pretty lucky all things considered, since nothing happened and he could keep it where he needed.

DE VRIES CAUSES A RED FLAG! Geez, he lost it and crashed... He just went straight into the wall. Damn that was unlucky, he'll come out last on Sunday, if I'm not mistaken. Because this Quali was for Sunday... Right? I seriously have no clue how this works anymore 🤣

Now Carlos spins AND PIERRE'S OUT AGAIN!!! WHAT IS GOING ON TODAY!? Another Red Flag... Quite the madness to start with so soon.

I've had to pass a couple minutes of Q2 because I'm actually falling asleep at 11pm. I'm old, what can I say. Lewis clipping the wall, Carlos with some issue and letting Charles go by... George completely missing today. Odd day, for sure.

Carlos now going off again. Quite the afternoon today. And George is out for Q3. Whoa. He's really not done anything today.

Anyway, here comes the bride. Okay no, but finally something good for Charles now and I'm finally seeing it. SHARL WITH 0.00.00 DIFFERENCE TO SID THE SLOTH'S TIME. WHAT IS THIS. THIS GUY IS POSSESSED!!!!!

NOW THAT'S HOT!!!!!! My darling boy deserved this, finally!!!!! And that's brushing the TechPro barriers! Unbelievable, 3 years in a row!!! Lewis struggling but still getting P5. I hope he gets his chance tomorrow. He's suffered enough already.

Now that's a start to a weekend! Let's see what happens tomorrow during the Sprint Shootout and the Sprint Race. No idea so far what that is but hey, we'll see tomorrow.

I got a prompt request on my previous blog and whoever requested it- I'm sorry it's taken me this long! I've had some writers block but here it is:) (louis being told he should lose weight but harry loving on him)

Also! I can't remember the details of the ask, so if I get it wrong feel free to request again or ask me to edit this:)

"Louis, we really need to start working on your diet. We can't keep having last minute outfit changes." Louis' stylist said as he arrived for an interview to promote his newest album. He'd arrived to the set spilling out of his jeans because he was stubborn and refused to go up another size. He'd gone up a size last month, and wasn't about to deal with that again.

"I know.. I know I'm sorry." Louis mumbled as she scrambled around to figure out something for him to wear.

She just huffed in response and ended up handing him one of his tracksuits. It was fashionable and high end, so it was appropriate enough, but definitely not his best look for an interview. "Wear this, we don't have time to go buy something big enough for you right now."

'Big enough for you.' That cut deep, he swallowed thickly and looked down at his belly. He'd only gone up two sizes total, well three now, but he felt like a whale based on the way she was talking about it.

"Louis, she's right." His manager chimed in, "You've got to get rid of this extra weight. It's not a good look for you."

Louis nodded again, his face red. Being told he had to lose weight was not how he wanted to spend his evening. He was stressed enough about how people would react to this interview.

And boy, was it difficult. He could tell that the host, which happened to be Jimmy Fallon that particular night, was trying to act casual. But, Louis knew better. He could see it in his face. His sudden new weight was something he was trying not to comment about.

After it was all over, Louis got into his private ride, to be taken home. He was all over Twitter and Instagram, and probably tiktok too he figured, but refused to download that app.

During his car ride home, he received a text from Lottie. <Hey Lou!:) The live interview was great, I'm so excited for you with all the new album stuff. Listen, I mean this in the best way, but have you considered maybe starting a workout routine? I'm in need of a gym buddy and thought you might be interested. Let me know xx>

Louis knew his sister loved him and had the very best intentions, but the fact that she was jumping on this bandwagon too, wanting him to lose weight, hurt.

When he arrived back to their LA home (they were headed back to their London flat soon and Louis couldn't be more ready. He wasn't a fan at all of LA and all the famous people and trends), Harry had a nice hot meal ready and waiting for him.

"You're home!"!" Harry smiled when Louis walked in.

"I am," Louis laughed, feeling his belly shake a bit when he did.

"I made spaghetti and meatballs," Harry smiled. Of course Harry wouldn't be having meatballs, he was on his vegetarian kick now, but he knew Louis loved them.

"Oh, thanks Haz. It smells delicious," Louis said, trying to subtly cover his rounding belly.

"No problem baby, I know you must be exhausted after such a long day." Harry said, coming over to him and wrapping his arms around his chubby boy.

Louis stiffened, trying to flex every muscle in his body so that he didn't feel so fleshy while Harry held him.

"Lou? What are you doing?" Harry asked, feeling the way he'd stiffened and constricted his body.

"Just uh... figured you might miss the body I used to have." Louis mumbled quietly.

"Louis, what do you mean by that?" Harry asked, already having a clue, but he wanted Louis to feel safe and be able to express his feelings. He had a tendency to bottle them up.

"Don't tell me you don't know what I mean. Harry.. I've gotten fat." Louis whimpered, pulling away from the hug and putting his hands on his chubby belly.

"Lou..." Harry wasn't going to lie to him, he had gotten a bit fat. But he honestly thought Louis had never looked more beautiful. "What's wrong with a little extra weight? I think you're stunning."

"You know what's wrong with it Harry. Everyone's telling me I should lose weight. Even my sister. She meant it well, and was sweet and trying to be helpful.. but it just hurt a little."

"Oh darling, my precious Lou." Harry cupped Louis' cheeks, "Look at me."

Wordlessly, Louis tilted his head upward, meeting Harry's eyes.

"This extra weight you're carrying is so beautiful." Harry told him, sincerity evident in his voice.

"Beautiful." He said again, reiterating his point.

"Harry..." Louis started, but Harry stopped him.

"I mean... do you feel this?" Harry asked, moving his hands down to Louis' belly, putting them under his shirt and fondling it a bit. "What's not to love?"

Louis' cheeks turned bright red and he looked down.

"Is going on a diet something you want to do? I'll support you if it is, but truly I don't think you need to." Harry said gently.

"I really fucking don't." Louis said quietly, he couldn't stand the thought of holding back from his favorite foods honestly.

"Then don't. No one has a say in your weight, no one besides you." Harry pressed a kiss to Louis' forehead, his hands still resting on the pudge of Louis' soft, warm tummy.

"Okay.. it really didn't bother you?"

"Oh honey, not at all. There's more of you to love on and snuggle. You can be my pillow to hold at night," Harry said, doting on him. "You're adorable Lou. And this extra weight... it looks really good on you."

"Thanks Hazza..." Louis smiled softly, and felt his belly rumble.

"Sounds like someone's hungry," Harry cooed. "Let's go get that tummy of yours nice and filled."

And Louis? He couldn't argue.

man i love emma endlessly too i find them so smart and their face’s bone structure jfc and they’re also soso endearing (i love love love how awkward they are omg my most beloved baby 🥺) how can someone not love them??? but their own side of the fandom pushed me away from them :( and here for example it is sooo hard to go through their tag or rhaenyra’s without finding some shit featuring daemon and their disgusting piece of a relationship every two posts u.u i’m trying to keep them close to my heart tho and consume whatever of them i find here or on my own somewhere else but it is difficult because they did almost just theatre before hotd and … sigh idk if i could go to see their plays and stuff i would istg like every day until im broke bc they seem so good and i love theatre but :((( theatre is so ephemeral i so hope they have more audiovisual projects in the future bc like i said before i’m not watching a second of that hell of a show (i do watch their scenes tho them and olivia’s bc their talent?? ohh, stunning!!) anyway, the twoiaf fandom suck ass and i’m so sorry you all have to be part of it, although im grateful at the same time because that brought you all to this ship and omg you’re all so talented i get emotional 😢🤍

emma are so cool i love them so much, i can't wait to see their other projects as well<3 but yeah unfortunately i have to stick to the rhaenicent emma stans or to the rhaenicent tag to see them😭 same for milly :( i love seeing the two of them at award shows and i wish olivia and emily would come as well but i guess it's not happening :(

Oh its nothing bad, no worries here, just you know how sometimes you notice a bruise and you poke at it to see if hurts and it almost always does? I did that but *emotionally* 😬 something about not picking at old wounds lol. Still, thank you sm for the pick me up ❤️

2.) What's your feel-good movie? I dont have too much time for movies anymore but I've been on a New Girl kick lately. A lot of it hasn't aged well (miss me with the fatphobic Schmidt jokes) but god there's so many bits that just absolutely fold me (this one gets me every damn time.)

6.) Say three nice things about yourself (three physical and three non physical.)

Non-Physical: I'm resilient, I'm understanding, I'm considerate. I've overcome every obstacle I've ever faced, and I'm very proud of that. And despite being dealt an objectively sucky hand, I want to leave this world a little kinder than I found it, even if that's on a very small scale. So I like to meet people where they're at within reason, and treat people with the same kindness and consideration I want to be treated with. I'm not perfect and I can fail at that, but I'm always trying to be better than the person I was yesterday, while also respecting myself and my boundaries. (Except ya know, bigots, terfs, predators, racists, anyone in current positions of power, etc. If you're a genuine menace to humanity and proud of it, I hope you get hemorrhoid's that never heal and perish miserably and alone.)

Physical: I love my freckles, I love the way my eyes look like dark amber tree rings in the sunlight, and I love that my body is soft so baby buns always has a comfy place to rest, but also that it takes up space and is strong so I'm not easily threatened.

10.) What's something you're excited for? OMG SO MUCH. I pre ordered Erio's Arcane Tarot Deck over on twitter and they just got THE MOST BREATHTAKING samples, I also splurged and ordered the Divide: Arcane Zine bundle and god there's so much cool art and goodies and almost all of the stretch goals have been met?! The book alone is absolutely stuffed with stunning content, and honestly I've found so many amazing artists just through their twitter its amazing.

I've got an art reception coming up soon, I might be popping down to C2E2 for my birthday with some close friends who have never been, Bridging the Rift: The making of Arcane drops a week before my birthday. LOTS of other small stuff too, it's really looking like this August might be my best birthday month yet and I'm so stoked about it.

hihi!! sorry this is a kinda out of the blue message BUT not really just cause its something ive noticed from your posts and stuff. but i just wanted to say that seeing what you have to say about itzy is so refreshing 🫶🏼 im not new to tumblr (since i mainly use twitter :/) just new to being a years long kpop fan when i came back and the things i've seen about itzy on twitter is so exhausting like im constantly stuck seeing people hate on them for no reason and just diminish and discredit their hard work and it feels like its just me and few mutuals on twit constantly defending itzy and its so exhausting bc obv there are so many people coming to itzy's defense but it always feels like its getting wash away by the negativity. so i just wanted to basically say thank you for always coming to their defense too, you have easily became someone who im glad i found your blog and followed. just bc you don't know people reception of certain groups for me its itzy and svt and just seeing someone defend the girls the same way i do is so nice to see :') also a huge plus is your stunning gifs!! i cant wait to see what else you post!! :) 🫶🏼

hello this made me very happy thank you for telling me this 🥺 ever since sneakers era, the hate they have been getting has become way too much to ignore and i do imagine that on twt is way worse than here! my mutuals here are very receptive of itzy even if they don't stand them but since i do gifs for them and they get spread sometimes i see people making weird comments about them in the tags of my posts and it's genuinely exhausting to see it in my notifications every time they i feel like i need to address it and talk about it! i do understand disliking their music but as we both know it's very much becoming more than that and it's not really about people having opinions on their music anymore! i just can't stand people wanting them to become something that is more palatable to their taste and quite frankly telling that to an artist is just not okay especially when they like the concept they have going on and are proud of it! this hate definitely stems a lot from the fact that they can't stand that they are successful and well loved doing a concept and music that they hate and it has become pretty obvious! i am not actively on twt anymore i just have an account for updates and see what my faves are doing but definitely i would be exhausted if i was exposed to this negativity on my tl and it's honestly why i stopped having fan accs on twt but seriously thank you for sending me this :< pls don't be exposed to negativity abt itzy for too long if it's something that makes you sad it's better to like leave the app for a bit and not think abt these people too much and if needed update your mutual list for the sake of your sanity KJDFKGD i hope you are having a good day

Heeseung is smart, and he prides himself on that fact but when it comes to you, his brain becomes filled to the brim and he loses some common sense, but that's what loves all about...right? Wrong. The moment he sees you running into his seniors arms with the biggest smile all common sense is flying out his mind and he's being visited by the big bad green monster (jealousy — not the jolly green giant pea guy). A million thoughts begin to run through his mind, "How does she know him? And why does she look so happy? What are they talking about? Wait why are all the members of BTS walking up to her and hugging her? WAIT WHY ARE THEY LOOKING AT ME-" Poor guy was way too lost in thought to even notice that you're staring in his direction with the biggest smile, as you drag the group of his idols seniors towards him. Firstly he can't really hear what you're saying to him because his minds still spinning with a million and one possibilities, he's just so lost. When you explain that Jungkook is your big brother he finally allows himself to calm down and then he realizes, "holy shit my girlfriend is related to THE jeon jungkook." Needles to say he finds it really cool and asks you a bunch of questions when you're alone later on in the night!

brother – johnny suh (NCT)

Jay swears up and down that he isn't the jealous type, and part of it is true, but when he sees you on the phone laughing and smiling at incoming texts while hanging out with him on his day off, he's gonna be a bit jealous. He'll try his hardest to get your attention but after he strikes out for the third time, he'll give up. Thinks to himself, "Fine! If she wants to ignore me then so be it, I'll do the same." He knows it's childish but man he does not care whatsoever. Little does he know that you're texting your older brother Johnny trying your best to make plans so that he can meet Jay finally because your brothers opinion matters a lot to you and you'd appreciate it if he met him, but Johnny keeps jokingly saying he'll bring the rest of the 22 (23 including himself) NCT members as well since technically they're all your big brothers. This of course makes you laugh because the image of all 23 idols piling out of a van to meet your boyfriend is funny to you. This situation of you (accidentally) ignoring Jay and him purposely ignoring you continues until he's fed up and straight up asks you who you're texting. You pass your phone over to him suppressing a laugh as he reads the conversation. His face literally goes 😡😐😦 and he'll ask of you're serious or playing with him, and when you reassure him that you're dead serious he's freaking out, because hello your brother is THE freaking Johnny Suh the man, the myth, the NCT legend! Later when Johnny actually meets Jay, they get along well and he fanboys to you after about it :)

brother – bang chan (stray kids)

Jake goes around the dorm bragging about how well he knows his girl blah blah blah all that sappy stuff, and Sunoo is like okay sure bestie so can you tell me why she's all over twitter hanging out with Bang Chan from Stray Kids? Now that stumps Jake because what the hell are you doing with him, and why didn't he know you'd be with him? When you arrive at his dorm later bearing food and gifts the boys are excited but they feel the tension between you two so they back off a bit, opting to hide in the living room rather than their usual dining room area (because one, it's close to the kitchen and two they're so nosey omg they want all the tea). You're pretty amused that he hasn't broke yet because you know your boyfriend and you know that he's seen the pictures, you're just waiting for him to ask so you can explain. Eventually Jake grows irritated and just straight up asks you why you were with an older artist and how you two know one another. You smile and grab your phone off the counter, while he's watching over your shoulder. "Wait why are you calling him-" "Hush look," you'll reply and as Chan picks up the facetime he can here a faint "hey sis" being shouted at you, which of course leaves the poor boy stunned. Once you're off the phone with your brother, you explain to Jake that Chan is indeed your older brother and that fans just happened to take pictures of the two of you out on your monthly brother-sister day. When Jake and Chan meet later that week (he begs you to introduce him) they bond over being aussie bros and also their love for you!

brother – jung wooyoung (ateez)

Sunghoon knows that you're a friendly person, and he knows that being an idol yourself (one whose been in the business a bit longer than him) you've met and made friends with other idols. So he isn't too bothered by the fact that the entirety of Ateez has just walked over to the two of you bearing smiles and hugs. He is however, bothered by the fact that you haven't introduced him to them and that one has his arm wrapped firmly around your shoulders as if you were his. He'll grab ahold of your hand offering it a squeeze, which immediately grabs your attention and you'll pull yourself out of the members arms and into his, much to his satisfaction. This of course earns an eyebrow raise from his seniors and immediately you'll start by introducing him as your boyfriend, meanwhile the eight boys will hear this and freak because when did their little sister get old enough to have a bf and why didn't they know? Honestly Sunghoon is just as confused as the boys so you'll have to explain that Sunghoon is your boyfriend and Wooyoung is your older brother, along with the rest of the members since you've known them forever now. Eventually it clicks in all their minds and they'll get well acquainted. Sunghoon asks later why you never mentioned that Wooyoung was your brother but all he'll get is a quick "it never came up" and a shrug.

A/n: I'm so sorry you had to go through that! I hope you're alright and deleted those nasty messages. I tried to put a lot of fluff in this and I hope it helps!

You could hear Corpse in the background, he was streaming in his office with his friends while you hung on the couch in the living room, lazily scrolling through your phone.

The television was on, playing a series you had forgotten about as you scrolled through your boyfriends hashtag on twitter, seeing the fanart and clips of his current stream roll by. You enjoyed scrolling through his community's twitter, seeing the fanart and small comics of funny moments always brought a smile to your face.

Your relationship with him wasn't revealed to the public yet, and neither of you were in a hurry to do so either. Corpse was well aware of the power the internet held and he refused to look at his general DM's for a reason.

His only purpose for his twitter DM's was talking to some of his friends through it, but he didn't scroll further than the chats he had pinned to the top of that list.

Something that couldn't be avoided however were the generally creepy individuals that crept into the DM's of anyone with an attractive profile picture, and sometimes even that wasn't necessary to gain their attention.

Thankfully you never quite had the displeasure to deal with these individuals, the DM's they send easily ignored. The few words you could see as preview in your DM's menu already more than enough reason to delete the conversation immediately.

This time however you hadn't been able to avoid the creepy messages sent by one of those accounts. Maybe it was because everything seemed alright at first but quickly took a turn as you continued reading.

You clicked away from the message as soon as you finished reading it, sitting somewhat stunned on the couch for a second as your mind processed what had just happened.

Closing the app, you dropped your phone by your side and instead turning your attention to the television in front of you in attempt to take your mind off of it. You could understand why Corpse never checked his DM's.

For a second you considered seeking out his advice, he was much more familiar with this darker side of the internet than you were. But he was streaming. It made you stop from going to his office as you didn't want to interrupt his stream.

In the end you actually get quite interested in the show, having grabbed a soft blanket to roll yourself into and a bowl of snacks by your side. Nevertheless the creepy and somewhat sinister messages you received still float through your mind.

Lost in the show, and your own mind, you don't notice Corpse end his stream and entering the living room. He wraps his arms around your shoulders from behind, startling you as you tense up for a split second before you sink deeper into his embrace.

It doesn't go unnoticed by your boyfriend however, who moves to sit beside you as you offer him part of the blanket.

"Are you okay?" he easily notices something is bothering you as he gently pulls you closer to him.

Melting into his hold, you grab your phone and open twitter, making his raise his eyebrow in question, before showing him the DM messages from the random account.

"Got this during your stream, didn't look bad at first so I read it." you explained shortly as you handed him the device, allowing him to read the messages for himself.

A look of understanding formed on his face as he deleted the chat account from your list before turning off the device and putting it onto the coffee table that stood in front of the couch.

He hesitated before reaching for you, unsure if you were comfortable enough for physical touch after that.

"Are you comfortable with touching?" he asks quickly.

When you nod your head in response, he pulls you into his side, his arm wrapped around your waist securely as his thumb traces mindless patterns into your hip in comfort. You lean your head on his shoulder, eyes still glued to the television as you inhale his scent.

There was something about his touch that was just so oddly comforting, and it was exactly what you needed right now. His body was warm beside yours as your hand found itself in his hair, the dark curls brushing against your fingers in the process.

Corpse had accepted he wouldn't get any editing done for the rest of the day, although he couldn't say he regretted any of it. His free hand on his phone as he turned his head to you, burying his face in your hair as he mumbled,

"I'm assuming neither of us feel like making dinner tonight, want me to order something?" You nodded against him in response, making a small smile form on his face.

With trained ease he ordered the food from his phone, before shutting off the device and laying it beside yours on the table before returning his attention to you.

BnHA Chapter 315: I Didn’t Expect This to Blow Up

Previously on BnHA: Horikoshi was all “guess which plot that you thought was dead is actually not dead and is making a comeback!” and we were all “EVIL HPSC??” and he was all “girl you know it,” and that’s the story of how we got a sexy Lady Nagant flashback with lots of guns and murder. Flashback!Lady was all “gotta murder peeps to preserve the people’s trust,” but then a little while later she was like “actually wait that makes no sense,” and so she shot her evil boss and they sent her to jail. Back in the present, Deku was all “okay fair, the hero system might in fact be a little fucked up, but hear me out... have you considered not helping AFO take over the world so he can murder like a bazillion more innocent people??” The chapter ended with the not-all-there Overhaul finally revealing himself to Deku, and I honestly have no idea where this is gonna go.

Today on BnHA: In what is unfortunately the single worst plan ever concocted by anyone in BnHA, Nagant is all “I’m going to try and get this Deku kid to panic and freeze up by putting someone in mortal danger.” Deku is all, “[doesn’t panic and freeze up at the sight of someone in mortal danger].” Nagant is all “omg no way.” Deku, who is now all of a sudden being so OP that even I have to acknowledge that it’s OP lol, is all “[smashes Nagant’s gun arm to bits]”, which sucks but is also really cool, and which also apparently makes Nagant decide that she actually likes this kid after all. Deku is all “NAGANT I REALLY LIKE YOU AND THINK YOU’RE GREAT SO PLEASE JOIN UP WITH ME AND STOP BEING EVIL.” Nagant is all “aw shucks (✿ •͈ᴗ•͈) well okay then” and everyone is all “( ･◡･) ✰ ( ˆᴗˆ ) ( ᵘ ᵕ ᵘ ⁎)” and then Nagant FUCKING EXPLODES LIKE AN EGG IN THE MICROWAVE AND FALLS TO HER DEATH!!!! except not really because Hawks saves her??? In conclusion, (a) THE FUCK, and (b) AFO TURN ON YOUR LOCATION I JUST WANT TO TALK.

so I have to tell you guys something, which is that barely ten minutes after I made that “please don’t send me spoilers” post the other day, someone replied to the comments in a stunning fit of “tell me that you’re twelve without actually telling me you’re twelve” energy and posted what seemed to be the copy-pasted spoiler summary from reddit or twitter or whatever lol. so here is my good news/bad news rundown of all that

good news: I have very well-conditioned ABORT!! reflexes and have trained myself to immediately look away from the screen (usually in dramatic fashion) as soon as I realize that whatever I’m reading is a spoiler

bad news: unfortunately as I was subsequently deleting said comments, I accidentally read the very last one

good news??: said spoiler was so unbelievably, absurdly over-the-top that I’m almost positive this person was just trolling. like, there’s just no way lmao

bad news: but in the unlikely event that it is true I will absolutely lose my shit I swear to god

(ETA: “NAGANT DIES.” that was the spoiler I read lol. like, literally all I read from the person’s comments was “My Hero Academia Chapter 315 Title: “Beautiful Words.” Chapter starts with...” and then I noped out of there, and then of all the comments to read as I was deleting, it had to be that one lol. I seriously was just like “SURE, JAN.” all “just how gullible do you think I am” sob. but I was wrong. a troll, but an honest troll they remain.

but anyways like I’m pretty sure Nagant isn’t even actually dead lol, so in the end this whole little adventure doesn’t even have a point to it, but for me it was a journey!)

anyway, so there are apparently two versions of the chapter today?? no idea what the difference is, but I’m going to go with the Bean version, because it’s the one at the top and I don’t feel like making decisions today

huh, so Overhaul is actually more coherent than Horikoshi was letting on

look at him having a whole back and forth conversation with her. side note, how is he still this jacked when he’s been sitting in a cell doing absolutely nothing for the past six months

anyway so he says he’ll go with her on one condition. I wonder what that condition could possibly be. do you think it could be the thing he literally hasn’t shut up about ever since he reappeared lol

yep! and damn -- maybe this guy will surprise me after all

still would be nice if you also felt a bit sorry for the little girl you tortured and traumatized, but this is something at least. maybe Deku will yell at him for that other stuff lol

(ETA: also can’t help but wonder if he wants to make amends because he put him in a coma, or because his plan was a failure and ended up destroying the family. just hoping you’ve finally had that “hurting other people is bad” epiphany dude.)

anyways so now Nagant’s arm is transforming again, and this particular transformation happens to be the only truly unsexy thing that Nagant has done thus far so I’m just gonna skip right on ahead lol

aaaaand we’re back to the delirious ranting

anyway, but so to the surprise of basically no one, Deku did not, in fact, freeze. I am very sorry, Nagant. he’s just like this

someone wanna tell me how getting yoloed in the fucking ribs by this fucking slingshot kid moving at literal sniper bullet speed is in any way even remotely better than getting hit by the bullet itself lol

(ETA: this is 10x funnier now that we know the bullet wasn’t even gonna hit him lmao.)

anyway so now Nagant is having an extended “!?!?!?” reaction about how Deku just moved with no hesitation, and I’m starting to get an inkling of fear that the rest of this fight isn’t going to go very well for her and maybe that’s what all the “hoo boy” is about

oh my god Deku are you about to Gomu Gomu no Rocket yourself at her you insane little man

now Three is popping up again and he’s all “I see you’ve learned your lesson and are now only using three quirks at once instead of five” like with all this effusive praise about how great and badass Deku is and sob, okay, yeah. this chapter is basically one of those machines that shoots tennis balls at people, except instead of tennis balls it shoots hot piping discourse

on the plus side, WELCOME BACK, HAWKS’S FEATHERS. I have no doubt that in this chapter of Deku being an almighty threequirk-mastering god, and Nagant losing anticlimactically only to be immediately blown up because girl characters in BnHA can only be cool for one fight and one fight only, there are still some people who are focusing solely on the “how dare Hawks get his wings back when he is a MURDERER this is an outrage what about CONSEQUENCES” discourse, and to hell with all the other discourses lmao

anyway, so yeah. wow. and now it’s just occurring to me that maybe the real reason why Overhaul is there is so he can get a head start on that amend-making by actually doing a good thing for once in his life, and using his quirk to heal Nagant. assuming he can still do that

and so now Horikoshi has got me out here actually rooting for Overhaul. you know what, on that note I think I’m just gonna go ahead and call it a day sob

Gojo's character shows a lot in the first Light Novel. Basically, Yuji and Megumi are following Gojo around the streets to find out what he does on his day off. They see Gojo going in and out of stores and an arcade where he buys a capsule toy, all while eating a crepe, which Megumi grumpily comments is strange seeing such a tall adult dressed in black doing because it's so childlike.

Eventually, they end up following Gojo into a Maid Café, and they realize that Gojo must have gone in there to try out a special foreign dessert they're serving. They follow him in only to realize they were correct, as they see Gojo sitting down and eating the dessert while looking out the window- while casually wearing the wings and halo the maid cafe forces you to wear too, something Megumi and Yuji find he wears so naturally.

After their Megumi and Yuji leave the maid cafe after being practically forced to eat there, Gojo appears behind them as they wonder where they went. The two ask him if it's his day off today, and I think it's really important what their conversation was.

"No, I'm working as usual," said Gojo.

"Eh, but you ate crepes and walked around town..."

"If you're as busy as me, you wouldn't have time to walk around town and make rediscoveries if not as you work, y'know. I might look like that, but I'm actually doing my job," said Gojo.

Therefore, even though Gojo looks like he's mindlessly wandering the streets and relaxing with plenty of desserts, internally, he's actually working. All the stores he went to had a history with the cursed building he had to investigate. The maid cafe had a clear view of the building through the window he was looking at. He'd also moved an amp around the building, played recordings like what's written in the rumours, all to get the cursed spirit to come out. In the end, he has the first years take care of it.

Obviously, the Light Novel was written for the reader to recognize that no matter what Gojo does outwardly, internally he's thinking of far deeper and calculated things than he let on. Also, Gojo barely has the time to just "walk around town." He doesn't have time for dates and pleasure unless they're during a mission. Even in the 2nd light novel, Gojo spends the entire day with Nanami while Nanami is on a mission to "help him," as Gojo put it. And after spending time with Nanami, the reader realizes Gojo had done so to get Nanami to help mentor Yuji.

Gojo is not just incredibly busy, but even when he acts as if he is recklessly avoiding work (like when he went with Nanami, went to a maid cafe, etc) he's really working. Everything Gojo does, no matter what it may seem like on the surface, is all for his students, his job, for the future.

I think a lot of people get stuck in Gojo always boasting about himself or insulting the higher ups or acting as if he's being lazy, but the reality is that no matter what Gojo seems like on the outside, he's very kind-hearted and thoughtful once you see past his quirks.

Also, Gojo is totally a virgin. I don't think it's more to do with his personality as it is that he can't even walk around town unless it's for his job. Unless Gojo has to seduce some hot cursed user or interrogate her (wink wink) he wouldn't have the time to do so. He barely even sleeps because he's so busy.

Also, we know in his youth that Gojo loves playing video games. I mean, he admitted to Geto that getting 99 years of Momotaro Dentetsu was more difficult than keeping his infinity on all the time. Exaggeration or not, he's definitely a gamer and games in his spare time while hanging out with Geto. They also likely sparred together, and Geto mentioned that he shares snacks with Gojo so they spend lots of time together. Their missions and classes also contribute to taking up Gojo's time, because Gojo wasn't just a student in his youth, he was a student with a job- a job to protect the weak.

Also, Gojo doesn't even flirt with his colleagues. I think Gojo only teases Utahime because she's strict like Nanami. Other than that, Gojo doesn't interact much with women at all, and he's respectful to Mei Mei and Shoko.

Gege mentioned Gojo wears shades when he goes to meet girls, and someone on Twitter mentioned that Gege said that to allude to Hidden Inventory, where Gojo met Riko while wearing his sunglasses. Gege is very good at symbolism and foreshadowing, so he could have meant that Gojo was going to meet a girl while wearing his shades (Riko).

Gege also said that Gojo decides "on a whim" whether to wear his sunglasses or blindfold, which means Gojo doesn't make a rule that he has to wear shades whenever he meets girls. I think Gege saying Gojo's acts on a whim makes it more likely that when he said Gojo wears shades to meet girls was just a nod to Gojo meeting Riko. Otherwise, the two statements contradict each other and we all know Gege is extremely good at future planning and foreshadowing and would make a statement like that to tease us readers.

Virgin Gojo is wayyyy more likely based on the evidence.

Absolutely love the light novel I hope they can animate it into an OVA someday ahhh I love it even though I only read 2 chapters of it what other juicy stuff lies in there...

Dimension Jump XXI Report

I suppose I’m a DJ veteran now as this was my fifth consecutive one and the fourth at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza which is an expensive four-star hotel. Sharing with a friend helps keep the cost reasonable and honestly, it’s worth it for the sheer convenience of being right there in the hotel and being able to nip back to your room as required. (To be clear, you don’t have to stay in the hotel to attend the con. There are plenty of other hotels nearby.)

Plus there is always the chance that you’ll see a guest at breakfast as I did Danny once. He picked out a few pieces of fruit and nibbled at them before wandering over late to his photoshoot. What else would you expect from a cat though?

Friday

Myself and @downonthepharm-red-dwarf (Amy) had arrived the previous day so had plenty of time to be near the front of the queue for registration. Which meant we saw Hattie Hayridge arrive in a stunning designer coat and with smart luggage. She really brought her outfit A-game and looked great the whole weekend.

Once we’d presented our respective proofs of full Covid vaccination or a recent negative test, we were given our DJ passes and booklets. The latter has spaces for signatures from guests, an Order Of Events and various handy tips for the weekend.

The con kicks off at 5pm with an hour of gradual build-up in the Main Hall - they show videos from previous events, specially made titbits with various guests past and present such as Mark Dexter doing a mock guide to DJ and Rebecca Blackstone voicing Pree. It all helps with the atmosphere, as do the numerous RD posters dotted around the hotel.

Then it was time for the Opening Ceremony featuring various Fan Club team members and an overcrowded stage full of cardboard boxes - the joke was that they’d had too much time on their hands during lockdowns and bought loads of stuff online. It was obviously also a nod to Lister’s hoarding in “The Promised Land”.

The sketch featured a specially made shot of the AA adverts’ Starbug model landing outside the Crowne Plaza and an 80s computerised version of the lovely convention logo. You could tell a lot of loving effort had gone into the whole thing.

Once the guest line-up had been announced (I’ll get to that not-really-a-surprise-guest shortly), we went straight into the RD Pub Quiz, hosted by Hattie. DOTP and I had been joined at our table by Lapsang and Barbs from our Discord (No Kind Of Atmosphere) plus various other attendees we’d befriended.

Someone in the crowd yelled “I love you, Hattie!” to which she quipped “I’ve pulled already!” Another bloke shouted “Fuck off, she’s mine!” which led to a few shouts of “Fight!” When neither seemed keen to do so, Hattie joked: “Only two? That’s a bit pathetic!” and then we got started.

The quiz is hard, by design, but I’m good at quizzes and my team - No Kind Of Atmosphere after our Discord - came joint third which was gratifying. (I was on the winning team a few DJs ago, to blow my own trumpet for a moment. This is my report, after all.)

And then it was time for the first guest Q&A with - surprise, surprise - Johnny Vegas aka the Crit Cop in “Timewave”. Not a great episode but he more than made up for that with an appearance I can only describe as chaotic. Warning - DO NOT attempt to heckle him unless you want to be singled out and humiliated in front of the entire audience in a “Can’t look away” fashion which was nonetheless entertaining. The man in question tweeted about it afterwards and seems to have taken it in good spirit.

Once we’d moved on from encouraging people to leave unpleasant things in room 429, it turned out Johnny’s a big fan of the show and owned it on VHS (so did I). He thinks of the main characters, Holly would win at “Taskmaster” and had good reasons for that conclusion.

He was dubious about the pink costume he wore in “Timewave” as he thought it might take away from the character but said he eventually decided he needed to get over what he was wearing and just go for it. He also said one of his worst working moments was on “Benidorm” when he had to hold his breath underwater in a freezing swimming pool and his co-star kept forgetting her two lines so they had over 30 takes. Ouch.

Johnny left commenting that he got less love at his 50th birthday party. But we hadn’t seen the last of him by any means as people kept buying him drinks during the Auction, leading to him successfully bidding for one of the items on offer.

And then he was back for the Karaoke. Now if you - as he informed us - had to undergo emergency dental surgery in the morning and had practically lost your voice, would you sing karaoke? And not only that, would you sing a version of “Love On The Rocks” which lasted 11 minutes according to someone on Twitter (I wasn’t timing it, but I can believe it), followed by the full-length version of “American Pie”?

If you answered no, you’re clearly not Johnny Vegas. He went to bed so late that the unfortunate Fan Club team member assigned to look after him got a grand total of 90 minutes’ sleep.

Saturday

DOTP and I had paid for the Photoshoot with Mr Vegas, Danny John-Jules and Ray Fearon. We got in the queue at 9am which was when it was supposed to start. An hour later we were still waiting. Yep, Danny was late.

Once he made it to the hotel, I got my photo in front of a Science Room backdrop. You might think Mr Vegas would be hungover and rushing through it, but on the contrary, he was still enjoying the hell out of proceedings which was refreshing to see. Since he’d been added to the line-up too late to be in the souvenir booklet, he signed extra inserts for the Fan Club which they handed out to everyone at the later Autograph sessions so attendees got his autograph after all even though he’d finally left. That’s what I call throwing yourself into an event.

Next up was a combined Q&A with Danny and Ray (originally separate but Danny’s lateness meant they were teamed up). This wasn’t a problem at all though - on the contrary, it worked really well as the chumminess between them added to the vibe. Also it was Ray’s first convention so he probably preferred to have Danny backing him up, especially since the poor man tripped on his way to the stage and almost fell. I don’t think he was hurt but I cringed with secondhand embarrassment and empathy. He wasn’t the only one to fall foul of the edge of the stage that weekend; I think it was the slightly raised dancefloor in front of it.

As is usual for Danny, we were treated to over half an hour of what you can only really describe as a stream of consciousness as he pontificated about various things. He and Ray did also talk about working together on “Death In Paradise” and Ray described his worst working experience there - he had to play a scene in a club in 45 degree heat with a live snake wrapped around his neck!

Ray is attractive in a “Hollywood hunk” way and Danny was clearly conscious of this, joking that he’d “brought his own security with him” and muttering “I’m better-looking anyway!” But all in a jokey way as they’re clearly friends.

Danny had come from filming and dropped a heavy hint that he’s appearing in a Dickens adaptation which I imagine will be shown at Christmas as they generally are. He also complained that Craig Charles never answers his phone: “You send him a message and he answers it on Twitter a month later!” (Interestingly, Chris Barrie later mentioned a recent phone conversation with Craig so make of that what you will.)

Ray was quieter but happy to talk about the vagaries of showbiz and typecasting - he said that due to his Shakespearean background he gets a lot of serious roles so people were genuinely surprised that he could also do comedy but “I was always funny!” He also gently teased Danny about the age of some of his references before admitting he still finds Tommy Cooper funny.

Danny usually performs “Tongue-tied” with a good grace when inevitably asked to by an audience member but perhaps it’s finally starting to pall as this time he did it in the style of Oliver Reed’s Bill Sykes and included a lot of X-rated references to cunnilingus etc. It was entertaining though.

Next up was a live Q&A (over Zoom) with Chris Barrie. Danny decided to stick around as he wanted to show Chris something he’d ordered online. It took a while to get the cameras in the right position for Chris to be able to see it and Danny needed a knife to open the parcel, leading Chris to quip “Is this a good time for me to step out for some lunch?”

However, it turned out to be worth it as it was a custom-made Ace Rimmer doll which impressed Chris with its quality and he complimented the maker.

Danny and Ray then departed for their lunch and to take part in the Coffee Lounge which this year had reduced its numbers for Covid-related reasons and held a ballot for entry in the interests of fairness. Amy and I didn’t get in but happily stayed for the rest of Chris’s Q&A.

In the “working from home” spirit, Chris was in a hoodie in his living room as opposed to his more usual smart suit. He was suitably relaxed and revealed he got through lockdown by concentrating on the things which make him happy, such as his hobbies, his garden and his family. His favourite episodes are “Marooned”, “Dimension Jump” and - less predictably - “Twentica”. He also referred to a recent “mannerly, as he would call it” phone conversation with Craig. No details but it had clearly been a positive experience.

Amy decided to liven up the ending of his Q&A by asking a vitally important, “TPL”-related question. Whom would Rimmer find more attractive, a female version of Lister or a female version of Cat?

Once the laughter had died down and Chris had bought some time by pointing out that “neither of them are women”, he gave the question appropriate consideration. He pondered whether Rimmer would be more taken by the “simple charms” of Lister or the “feline grace” of Cat. This next bit is courtesy of Amy as my memory isn’t infallible: He said it’d be a choice between a feline form or a rounder, a bit more slovenly woman - he wouldn’t want the perfectly feline woman because she might not like his imperfections, but he also wouldn’t want someone who ate curry three times a day. “Basically, a balance would be ideal.”

That was the last question but Chris provided a little more entertainment as he had a “How do you turn this off then?” moment a la Gordon the computer in “Better Than Life” and made amusing faces as he figured it out. If it was anyone but Chris I’d think it was a deliberate reference to that but I think he was genuinely befuddled.

We then broke for lunch, followed by Autographs with Hattie, Danny, Ray and Norman Lovett. I got the latter three to sign the “TPL” poster I’d brought with me but gave Hattie the booklet instead as it seemed more tactful. She complimented the dress I was wearing and I returned the compliment, telling her how much the fans appreciate the effort she makes with her DJ outfits.

Norman commented how there’s a version of the “TPL” poster he isn’t on, bemusedly. Fortunately mine was the version including him.

I spent the rest of the afternoon chilling in the bar with Amy, Lapsang and Barbs, chatting to other attendees. Graphic Designer Matthew Clark was now in the Merchandise Room with various props from Series XII and “TPL” including the Starbug manual used onscreen. I got his autograph on my poster but it’s an incomprehensible squiggle. Oh well. He was very friendly and easy to talk to.

After a break for dinner, the Main Hall reopened for the Costume Competition. This seems to get better every DJ, with an amazing “Greyscale Rimmer” who was discomfiting to be around due to the corpse-like makeup, a Natalina Pushkin, a Nirvanah Crane who could almost have been Jane Horrocks herself and a Diving Suit Cat from “BTE”. Other entries included Rimmer’s Mum, “Giraffes who were armed and dangerous” and a Confidence And Paranoia who were later pictured at the bar chatting to Paranoia himself, Lee Cornes.

We then had a special video message from Doug Naylor which I won’t go into as I’m sure everyone’s already heard the details. Suffice to say, his tone was positive.

The second Auction was hosted by Ian Boldsworth who made it more entertaining by adding his own commentary to each item. This was followed by a stand-up set from Norman. It was amusing but he misjudged the mood a bit, I feel. When you’re waiting for a disco to start and it’s already hours late due to Danny’s tardiness, you don’t particularly want to contemplate your own mortality. We were here to get away from all that, as much as possible.

Anyway, the Disco was a lot of fun even if Dave Benson Phillips’ presence as host was sorely missed. Hattie danced for the best part of an hour alongside everyone else. The stand-in DJs did their job and I stayed until the end. The final two songs were “Bohemian Rhapsody” and … “Tongue-tied”.

Sunday

Not being in the Sunday Photoshoot, Amy and I had a nice leisurely breakfast and got over last night’s festivities before the first Q&A, live over Zoom with Robert Llewellyn.

This was hosted by Ian Boldsworth who in his capacity as Dave era audience warm-up knows Robert well. Clearly well enough to get away with teasing him relentlessly about not being at the con in person until poor Robert was a mess of Krytenesque guilt.

His protestations that he’d been scheduled to be in Munich this weekend but no longer was (he was at home) only made things worse. Ian: “Oh, so that’s two sets of people you’ve disappointed now! Stop saying yes to things!” It was hilarious and Robert took it in its intended spirit. Also Ian was getting a measure of revenge for Robert - in character as Kryten - dry humping him at recordings. One attendee asked “With the groinal attachment?!”

Robert admitted that he finds Kryten’s various groinal attachments hilarious and if he was writing the show they’d be in every episode. He praised Doug’s restraint.

He also admitted that in “TPL” he had an earpiece to have his lines fed to him. Since it’s controlled by an iPad, certain unscrupulous cast members took great delight in feeding him rude ones.

He still intends to update “The Man In The Rubber Mask” but atm “Fully Charged” is consuming a lot of his time as it’s become much more successful than he anticipated and he’s in charge of several people.

Surprisingly, he would hate appearing in RD without the Kryten makeup, both because it’s become much quicker to apply and because it provides him with a shield and he becomes Kryten and forgets stagefright. He still can’t watch “DNA” for that reason.

Lapsang, who played Kryten in “Into The Gloop”, asked Robert if he’d seen it. He hadn’t but said he was now very curious and would find a way to.

Next up was Lee Cornes aka Paranoia who said he originally auditioned for the lead roles and like the other unsuccessful actors got the consolation prize of a guest appearance. Upon being asked if he’d gone out for a drink with Craig Ferguson’s Confidence, he said no because at the time they had a frosty relationship due to rumours that Craig was plagiarising other comics’ jokes. Lee said it was all very silly and he’s since apologised.

Interestingly, Lee is a qualified science teacher and carried on with that career alongside his media one, leading to surreal situations where his pupils would ask: “Sir? Were you on the telly last night?” “Yes.” “Are we on the telly now, sir?”

Someone asked a good question - what would Lister’s Paranoia be like now 33 years later? Lee would be willing to reprise the role but isn’t sure it would work as the original had a childish quality whereas he feels now the character would be a lot darker and less funny. Lee was both thoughtful and entertaining in his responses.

He was followed onstage by Hattie and Norman, who resolutely refused to rise to the bait of an audience member attempting to stir up a rivalry between them. That only works when one isn’t the nicest person you could meet.

A tactless audience member asked both if they’d watched “TPL” instead of directing the question at Norman. Luckily Hattie had seen it and particularly enjoyed the cat flap joke although she felt there was a little too much focus on the guest cast.

Norman didn’t really watch RD after he left but Hattie has seen Norman’s early episodes as he lent them to her back when she was originally cast as Hilly for research purposes. Bear in mind this was 1988 when they weren’t even available on VHS so presumably he recorded them off the TV.

Hattie confirmed with a sigh that she’s simply never been asked to return in any capacity: “That’s the short answer.” What the hell, I’ll say it one more time - Bring Back Hattie! One episode, that’s all I ask. As it stands, it’s starting to look like a pointed and deliberate snub which mystifies me.

We then broke for lunch, followed by Rob Grant and Paul Jackson. For obvious reasons they didn’t go into the current legal mess, opting instead to entertain the fans with the story of how they met and their early pre-RD work (Rob and Doug as freelance writers for Paul’s producer).

We saw some clips from their early shows including “Three Of A Kind” with Lenny Henry, Tracy Ullman and … later magician David Copperfield; apparently they all had the same agent and Paul took on David as a favour. For a 40 year old show it held up pretty well and was in much better sound and picture quality than older shows often are. “Carrott’s Lib” was just as funny.

It’s a bit hard to summarise but this session was entertaining and gripping. Rob still wants to write another RD novel and I believe there’s nothing actually stopping him as both he and Doug had an option to write a second solo novel. So we’ll see.

The final Q&A was Matthew Clark who was very informative and interesting, showing us numerous production stills from Series XII and “TPL” and talking us through them. There was a groan when time was called before he was finished.

By now time was running short and Amy and I went back to the room to pack and leave our luggage with reception before watching the start of “Dibbley Family Fortunes”. Since I knew I wouldn’t have time to watch it all, I instead nipped upstairs to Autographs with Lee and Ian, timing it perfectly as the queue had almost vanished.

Ian was still performing, drawing scornful attention to the fact that Lee had a longer queue: “Can you imagine all these people queueing to see Lee Cornes?!” It sounds rude out of context but he was clearly joking.

I decided to ask Lee what flavour the yogurt Paranoia eats was. He said it didn’t really taste of anything as it was the cheapest, nastiest canteen yogurt available and was also starting to curdle under the studio lights so eating it can’t have been much fun.

Since I now had about 15 minutes before I had to go, I caught a bit of Dibbley Family Fortunes, said goodbye to Amy, Lapsang and Barbs and then dashed off to catch the tram to the train station. Another great DJ.

Hongjoong:

It wasn’t that the members had rejected the new song fully. But they also weren’t completely feeling it, Hongjoong really couldn’t blame them, he wasn’t feeling it either. He had just put a lot of hard work into something, for nothing (in his opinion) and you could tell it was bothering him. It had rattled his confidence, not only because of their responses but his own.

“You need to snap out of it, love.” You said, hearing his thousandth sigh as he tried to fix whatever was wrong in the song. Your hands moved over his shoulders and down his chest as you hugged him from behind. “It’s easier said than done.” Hongjoong remarked, resting his head against yours. It hurt you to see him down on his confidence.

“What if I peaked?” You couldn’t help but laugh at his words, but you could tell he was serious. You moved around to sit in front of him, just to make sure he was looking in your eyes and could see you were being sincere. “Hongjoong, you’re 22 years old. You have not peaked. You are an amazing producer and song writer and just because one song wasn’t well liked among your members doesn’t mean you’re bad at what you do. Kim Hongjoong you are amazing, so I want you to shake this off.” Your tone was almost scolding, making him laugh and he grabbed your hands.

“Thank you, I needed that.”

Seonghwa:

It was a habbit that at the end of the week you would catch up on some of Ateez’s content. You liked to stay updated, you liked to stay in the loop with Seonghwa’s achievements because you were incredibly proud of him. Seeing him performing on stage always made you giddy and smile from ear to ear.

“Please tell me you’re not watching our performance from last night.” Seonghwa said, walking into your room and hearing the oh so familiar song. “Of course I am. I always do this at the end of the week, catch up you know.” He shook his head at your response, taking off his jacket and gradually changing into his pj’s to join you. “What?” You asked, questioning his response. “Nothing.” He shook his head, jumping into bed with you and looking at your screen. You simply stared at him in confusion.

“It’s nothing, I swear.” He said, shrugging it off but you knew better. “It’s not nothing, what’s wrong with me watching your stuff?” You asked and he sighed, laying flat on his back and staring at your ceiling. “I just feel like who I am on stage vs. who I am here is different. You might end up liking the other guy more.” It was a valid fear, but one he should have known better when it came to you. “Who you are on stage and who you are here are the same person. Just different sides. I love both equally.” You said, moving to hover over him. Seonghwa laughed, hiding his face behind his hands only for you to pry them away again.

“I guess we can keep watching stuff back then.”

Yunho:

Yunho was an idol first and a model second, however much he wanted to deny it. With his height, broad shoulders, long legs, arms, beautiful hands and beautiful face, he was made for fashion magazines. But he denied it heavily, even when the photographers told him so.

But you really couldn’t stop yourself from buying every magazine he featured in. Yunho was just absolutely stunning and he deserved to know that. “Babe, I could have gotten you that for free.” Yunho said, watching you flip through the pictures happily. “I know, I’m just supporting my model boyfriend.” You said and he laughed. “Ahh, shut up.” He said shoving you slightly as you laughed. “I’m being serious.” You said, closing the magazine and moving to lean into his lap.

“Look at these gorgeous hands and those broad shoulders. Not to mention your big beautiful eyes.” You paused looking at him as he smiled down on you. “Absolutely made for magazines.” You said softly, watching his ears turn pink as he blushed.

“I’ll bring it up with the company that I want to do more modelling, specially for you.”

Yeosang:

It took alot for him to post the video of him singing onto twitter. It took a lot for him to do so and you knew that. So when you saw that Ateez had posted a video onto twitter, Yeosang’s beautiful voice was the last thing you expected. You couldn’t help but call him right away.

“Hello?” He asked, voice calm and soothing in your ears. “So when were you gonna tell me you were practicing a song to post?” You said with a smile and you could hear his laugh on the other end. “It was supposed to be a surprise. Honestly, I’m shaking right now. Too scared to see the responses.” He admitted, laughing but you knew he meant it. “Ahh, Yeosang.” You said and he hummed in response, scared to hear what you were going to say.

“From what I can tell, everyone is absolutely adoring it. And as for my personal opinion... you sound absolutely amazing. Your deep vocal tone is stunning and you’ve improved soooo much. I’m proud of you, you should be proud of yourself.” You said and Yeosang went quiet, covering his mouth to hide his giggle of embarrassment.

“You know compliments make me nervous.”

San:

Watching San perform was an experience in itself, you couldn’t help but be overwhelmed with emotions while watching him. You were just so incredibly proud of him and every time you saw him on stage you were reminded of that. Now because of the world situation, you were allowed to be front row to their show and hanging out with the staff.

Once it was all over, San came running over with the last bit of energy he had left after a show. You wrapped your arms around him, not caring about how sweaty he was. “That was amazing.” You said softly and as he pulled away to look at you. “Yeah? I feel like I’m not in the best condition today.” San frowned and you shook your head. He was always doubting himself.

“Ahh, shush. You were absolutely amazing. You always are. You always bring 110% to the table when it comes to performing so shhhh. San you are one of the best performers I’ve ever seen.” You said and he laughed, tucking his face into your shoulder.

“You must want something from me, you’re being so sweet.”

Mingi:

There was no harm in hyping your man up and Mingi was just someone who needed the hype a little more often. Which didn’t bother you one bit. You loved complimenting him out of the blue, his response was worth it. The way his cheeks turned pink and he hid his face in his hands, it was so worth it.

“Does this shirt work with these pants?” Mingi asked, walking out of the bathroom now fully dressed and standing in front of you. You loved his sense of style, he always dressed so nice and knew exactly what worked for him. “Yeah it works. You look really good.” You said, smiling at him. The small compliment made a big smile stretch over his face and he walked over to you, cupping your face.

“You always look so good. You dress so well. Not to mention that gorgeous smile of yours, it’s your best accessory.” You smiled and he shut his eyes while laughing, cheeks getting pink in the process.

“You always make me so flustered when you compliment.”

Wooyoung:

You loved days that you were allowed to watch their practice, it was just so much fun and it was so cool to see Wooyoung doing what he loved. Now it was especially cool, because it felt like you were getting a sneak peak to a new dance break.

“Rewind the music, I messed up.” Wooyoung called out and the song restarted. You watched him dance, moving his body to the music and you couldn’t help but allow your mouth to go agape. “Babe, you’re gonna catch flies.” Wooyoung laughed looking at you watching him. You instinctively closed your mouth and looked at him with loving eyes.

“I love watching you dance so much. Woo, you’re so talented. It’s just so cool to see.” You admitted and he sat next to you on the ground. He rested his head in your lap and looked up at you with a smirk.

“Don’t stop on my account, I love it when you compliment me. It makes me feel all mushy and good.”

Jongho:

He was in such a good mood the entire day, his smile was hardly able to be kept at bay. Not that you wanted it to go away, not at all. You adored his smile quite possibly more than anything else. It was just so perfect, it brightened a room.

“You’re in such a good mood today.” You commented, looking at his smile with a warmth in your chest. “I can’t help it. I just am.” Jongho said, leaning over you to rest his weight on you. “I get to spend my day with you, makes me happy.” His words were always so sweet.

“God, your smile is the prettiest thing ever. Just absolutely gorgeous. Your smile makes me feel so happy.” You complimented, your fingers moving over his cheeks. His smile got only bigger and he burried his face into your chest with a small whimper.

“Ahh, my cheeks are gonna crack from all this smiling.”

Please allow me to tell you about one of my favourite cartoons through this informal essay I did for school a couple of months back.

Gravity Falls and How it Did The Unimaginable

**SPOILERS... KINDA**

The 2010s saw the creation of some of the most iconic animated tv shows ever made, the likes of Adventure Time (2010), Steven Universe (2013), Over the Garden Wall (2014) and The Legend of Korra (2012). To explain why this era’s shows are so admirable is honestly rather difficult. Yet, there are many factors that can be taken into consideration when looking for an answer.

The past decade was very successful in perfecting their craft and utilizing the animated format to their favour, creating some of the wackiest and fascinating cartoons ever made. With the advancements made in both 2D and 3D animation for film, this bled into the world of TV as well.

To mention that 2010s cartoons have stunning visuals would be an understatement. Everything about the animation was beautiful; the strong colour palettes, the clean and imaginative character designs, the colourful and immersive backgrounds and especially the mesmerizing worlds that can be found within episodes that are half an hour.

This era’s cartoons also led to a massive shift in storytelling, writing longer-running stories that spread out across seasons while also swapping out episodic adventures for serialization. This heavily aided in the popularization of these shows, due to the rise of internet fandoms and dropping the taboo that cartoons were only for kids. Many shows acknowledged their older viewers by leaving clues and even puzzles to be solved by the theorists who have a large appearance on social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter and Tumblr. As the shows progressed, their fandoms created many theories for what they believed might happen within their favourite series. The top three shows from this era all utilized these changes, being at the forefront of the shift and helping guide the creative vision of 2010s cartoons.

Often regarded as many people’s favourite cartoon, Gravity Falls presented one of the best mysteries of the decade with two seasons and only 40 episodes. Inspired by Twin Peaks and The X-Files, it’s considered as the kids’ version of these two iconic shows as this cartoon acts as many people’s first introduction to horror through bright colours and fun characters.

This series follows the adventures of Dipper and Mabel Pines, twins, who are sent to spend their summer with their great-uncle or Grunkle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon. This town is full of oddities like supernatural creatures, insane and eccentric inhabitants, and many puzzles. The Pines twins must adjust to the weirdness while uncovering the mysteries and protecting their new town.

While living in Gravity Falls, the twins are forced to work in the Mystery Shack, a tourist trap created by their Grunkle Stan that overcharges unlucky tourists, teaching about fake monsters despite there being real creatures all over town. On his first day in Oregon, Dipper accidentally came across a mysterious journal written by an unknown author that explains all the oddities to be found in this strange town. This book acts like an encyclopedic of the Weird for Dipper, an inquisitive 12-year-old kid who seeks answers.

Dipper is an extremely intelligent kid, his brain being far more developed than his body. He’s rather awkward and self-conscious as he often stumbles over his words or gets embarrassed trying to talk to girls. Despite this, the boy is an adventurer at heart who just wants to grow up and skip his upcoming teenage years.

While Mabel is quite the opposite in many ways, she is loud and has an in-your-face personality. Mabel is bouncy and fun, she is so excited to start high school. She is easily excitable and for the larger part of the series, she is in her boy-crazy phase. Mabel is a girly-girl as she likes all things; glitter, unicorns, rainbows, partying and crafting. Yet, she doesn’t often compare well with many of the other girls in town, they see her as weird and “too much”.

(In all fairness through, it is not too kind to either of the characters as their personalities are more complex than just awkward nerd and artsy girl-girly.)

Dipper and Mabel’s personalities are very different but somehow, they—along with their Gravity Falls family—manage to solve mysteries and save the town, multiple times.

Gravity Falls is an honestly genius series that completely changed the way cartoons were made. Originally when writing a series, you’d create a base of your story; characters, the universe and a basic plot. Yet, when creator, Alex Hirsch (who was in his early/mid-20)s and his small team first began constructing their show, they planned out everything they could possibly think of for the first season. Additionally, outlining some answers for their biggest mysteries that would be answered at the end of the series.

Despite being rated TV-Y7, this series really pushed the boundaries of kids’ television. From the teeth being ripped out of a deer’s mouth by a demon, rearranging the functions of every hole on a man’s face to an aggressive pop-rock sock puppet show that ended in a dramatic slow-motion scene of the puppets burning. Gravity Falls wasn’t afraid to get a little weird or creepy. Or create some genuine nightmare fuel.

From the beginning, Gravity Falls had built a mystery into its series, hiding secrets and clues all throughout the show. Most notably were the backwards-recorded message and cryptograms, using roughly nine different kinds, even creating two of their own.

The inclusion of cyphers and mysteries for fans to solve is possibly the reason why this series was so successful. As one of the first shows to do something like this, Gravity Falls used social media and internet fandoms to its advantage.

As mentioned earlier, cartoon fans have quite a presence on social media platforms like Twitter and Tumblr. They create theories and share fun ideas about their favourite shows. Viewers of Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Steven Universe were all included in their share of theory fun.

Sometimes, fan theories end up being correct but when you’re Gravity Falls creator, Alex Hirsch, you don’t just watch from the sidelines as your viewers figure out the biggest mystery of your show. No, you create a hoax to get your viewers off your trail and that is what he did. Around 2013, only halfway through the first season of the show, viewers had started to follow the clues, theorizing who was the author is Dipper’s mysterious journal.

Unfortunately for the Gravity Falls production crew, the viewers were right— for the sake of readers who have never seen the show, I will not mention who the author was as it would be the biggest spoiler.

In 2013, a supposed leaked image of a tv showing a younger version of the show’s crazy old man character, Old Man McGucket, writing in the infamous journal was uploaded anonymously (by Alex Hirsch) to 4Chan.

Despite the image only being on up for a few hours, it spread like wildfire. Much to the team’s success, theorists stopped searching for the answer to “who is the author” and just accepted the image of McGucket as the truth.

To further push the fake-out, three words were posted to Alex’s Twitter, “fuming right now.”

The tweet was deleted a few minutes later and fans genuinely believed that someone from the Gravity Falls team had leaked the most important part of the story.

While doing research, I came across a Reddit post from April 10th, 2013, the day after ‘leak,’ Alex’s tweet was uploaded. In this post, user, TheoDW uploaded an image of Alex’s tweet with the caption, “It seems that Hirsch got mad at last night’s leak. He already deleted this tweet.”

Seeing the reactions of these Redditors in 2013 is kind of weird and crazy to look at. “He has every right to be upset. Someone internally released a plot revealing screen shot of series breaking spoiler information,” a deleted Reddit account commented.

“This is Alex Hirsch’s biggest success by far, he spent a huge amount of time carefully planning out the series, and then in a moment someone releases a major spoiler. It would make anyone upset,” the user, Time_Loop commented.

“Seriously, this is a nightmare for a storyteller, and shows a breach of trust. I feel so bad for him–honestly, I hope whoever did the leak gets caught and appropriate action is taken. You don’t f–k with someone’s story like this. It’s unprofessional.” the user, lonelybeloved angrily commented.

In 2014, this ‘leak’ was finally disproven when viewers were given an episode on McGucket’s backstory and an amazing tweet from Alex Hirsch.

Alex had post an image of himself playfully pointing at a monitor with the supposed leaked picture with the caption, “1) Make hoax 2) Upload to 4Chan 3) Post angry tweet about "leak" 4) Delete tweet 5) Let internet do rest”

It is so interesting to look at these comments know that all of this was orchestrated by Alex.

I wish I had been old enough at the time to follow theories and fandom stuff like I do now with current cartoons but really looking at this from an outside perspective, this was insane!

The real author wasn’t revealed until 2015 and when viewers first got the answer to this biggest show on their screens, they must have freaked out!

Following the finale in 2016, a single frame of a stone version of Bill Cipher, the show’s villain, flashed in after the credits had finished.

Alex Hirsch and his team actually created a real-life statue of their villain for their viewers to find and on July 20th, 2016, the Cipher Hunt began.

By following clues, the Hunters found themselves all over the world; Russia, Japan and then travelling throughout the United States for the final 12 clues. When the hunt took them to Los Angeles, actor, Jason Ritter (voice of Dipper Pines, also a massive fan of the series) and Alex Hirsch’s twin sister, Ariel Hirsch (the inspiration for Mabel) joined in the fun helping the search.

Finally, the hunt ended on August 2nd when someone tweeted out an image of the found statue in Oregon, the same state in which the fictional town of Gravity Falls exists. The Cipher Hunt had ended but finding the statue wasn’t Alex’s goal for the scavenger hunt, it was about the journey and bringing together the viewers, more than having them actually find the statue.

Creating its own hoax, an international scavenger hunt and quite a bit of nightmare fuel, Gravity Falls was a show truly unlike any other.

The 2010s saw some of the strongest cartoons ever made, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Steven Universe acting as the leaders for multiple different changes in the medium; storytelling, worldbuilding, interaction with viewers, utilizing social media, representation and further pushing music into the cartoon world. Ah man, I’m glad I can make you feel like keeping trying!! I answered an ask like this a while back here and I can’t say I have anything new to say on the matter? I hope it’ll help you! In the end the biggest suggestion I can give you is to try to figure out what it is that you want to draw and just draw it! Even if you don’t know how to, just draw it the way you can! As long as the act of drawing itself makes you happy more than the final result you’ll keep up with it and the improvement will come for sure!
