Hello! I'm not a furry either so I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your art, but I'm glad I did because I love everything you do for Machete and Vasco and I admire your art and how much effort you put in fleshing them out. They're gorgeous, and your colouring style is very pretty, too! I'd like to ask some things about them, if you don't mind.
1) Are they specific dog breeds? (I remember you said you're inspired by Borzoi fur for Machete's neck fur!)
2) Are dogs your favourite animal to draw?
3) How did you decide on their names?
The question about the names is because, fun fact: Vasco is an extremely popular football team from Rio de Janeiro, and right now they're competing in Brazil's largest football championship to become the country's champion. So I've been imagining Vasco dragging Machete to a football match and being wildly into it while Machete looks lost in the rambunctious crowd lol but also because I'd like to know if you're applying a nationality to them at all. Their clothes have picked my curiosity!

1. Both of their breeds are fictional.
Vasco is a scenthound type of dog, if you applied Segugio Italiano's colors to Ariégeois/Porcelaine bodytype you'd get very close to what he's supposed to look like.

Machete is a sighthound and his closest real life counterpart would be Ibizan hound. He's mostly just a little fluffier here and there.

2. Yes, dogs are my favorite thing to draw. Canines in general. Sighthounds in particular.
3. I created Machete almost 16 years ago, I think I was simply reading about weapons and thought the word sounded sharp and had a good rhythm to it. In-universe "Machete" isn't his real name at all, it's something of a mean-spirited epithet/nickname he's acquired from his colleagues (mostly for being efficient at powering through mountains of thankless work, his severe (and increasingly cut-throatish) personality and the fact that he's originally from the part of Italy that was ruled by Spain at the time). His actual name (the one Vasco uses) hasn't been revealed.
I had liked the name Vasco long before I assigned it to this character, to me it sounds friendly and energetic but also noble somehow (but that's just my impression, I don't know any Vascos personally). One of the deciding factors was his color palette, I wanted to aim for shades that would resemble gold. In Finnish, "vaski" is an archaic term for warm colored metals like brass, bronze and copper. It's far fetched in retrospective but when the connection popped in my head I had to go for it.
As for the nationalities, they're both Italian. Vasco is a proud Florentine and Machete is originally Sicilian and now lives in Rome.
I can see how Vasco would be into football, Machete less so.

The Leader of England. They welcome you into Camelot with a gentle smile after the recent events that had transpired. Seemingly a fair and just leader, while being a mighty warrior, you’re not sure what to make of them. Will you find it within yourself to trust them? And possibly discover something more?
Appearance: They stand at around 6’5” with golden blonde hair and sky blue eyes. Tanned skin causes them to have an ethereal glow like you’ve never seen. Lancelot | M/F, 29 Years Old, Aquarius.
You don’t know much about the knight that never seems to stray far from the Ruler of England— not even their name— but you’re well aware of their battle prowess. With a guarded expression, penchant for silence, and ability to always disappear when you’re looking for them, you don’t think you’ll ever get close to the knight. Will you prove yourself wrong?
Appearance: They stand at around 6’3” with dark brown hair. Light brown skin cause the sterling silver of their eyes to stand out. You’ve never seen them out of their suit of armor, but maybe something will end up changing that. (M!Lance cuts his hair short and F!Lance has hers to just over her shoulders.)
Morgana | F, 27 Years Old, Capricorn.
The younger sister of the A. Someone who keeps to herself more often than not, but you can tell that there’s more to her than meets the eye. With a penchant to stay in the shadows, you want nothing more than to bring her out into the light. Will you be able to break through her mask of snark and ice?
Appearance: Morgana stands at around 5’11” with midnight black hair falling to the small of her back in a mixture of waves and soft curls. Fair skin glows in the moonlight— if her sibling was blessed by the sun then she was blessed by the moon. Her violet eyes, a color you didn’t even know was possible, hold a great deal of knowledge, but an even greater deal of pain.
Percival | M, 28 Years Old, Cancer.
With a gentle attitude, and generally compassionate disposition, Percival— or Percy— is one of the most innocent warriors you have ever come across. He doesn’t like to spill blood unless it’s absolutely necessary and he does his best to make sure that’s the way it stays, but he’s also a competent warrior and won’t hesitate to defend people he cares for. There’s not a bad bone in his body is the common phrase when referring to him.
Appearance: Percival stands at around 5’8” with dark auburn hair and forest green eyes. His olive toned skin causes his eyes to shimmer that much more. He’s usually never seen without a smile on his lips or a flower behind his ears— that a servant picked for him.

Ranking Alucard's Designs, Best to Worst
I've had a rough day and feel like being mean. These are just my opinions. Some rules:
I’m not counting each game a character appears in unless the design is noticeably different. I don’t count different art styles as a different design. I’m not counting the mobile game skins with two exceptions. For the most part it’s just him but purple. However, for your pleasure, joker Alucard:

Symphony of the Night

No surprise. It’s his most iconic design. He’s gorgeous. I enjoy how he wears a mixture of human clothes (the jacket) and more stereotypical vampire clothing like the cape. Same with warm colors with black and silver.
2. Grimoire of Souls

I love this design. I kiss it every night before I go to bed. I pray to it on Sundays. His waist makes me go feral. The only thing that bothers me is the brown lining. I wish they did something like the inside of his SotN jacket.
3. Moonlight Rhapsody – Outfit 3

I know absolutely nothing about this game. However, I love this skin. In my head when I imagine Alucard pre-Dracula betrayal this is it. The collar is a bit silly but I can look past it. I love the sleeves. The only critique I have is the brown and we’ll get to my feeling on Alucard wearing brown. But on this outfit, it’s not too bad.
4. Nocturne

They gave him his gay little neck ruffle back nature is healing. I wish they kept the details on the coat, but I’ll happily take the trade. I like his face.
5. The cancelled Dracula’s Curse movie concept art

I need to know what the context behind this would have been. The skirt, the pauldrons, his bloody hands, HIS HAIR PUSHED BACK. The only thing I dislike is his black nipple.
6. Aria and Dawn of Sorrow

I like the suit. The red pocket square is nice. I think it is a really interesting choice for it to be red rather than yellow as a callback. I love the choice to make him resemble Dracula pre-vampirism. All of his color has been drained and replaced with black and red. I go back and forth on if I hate or like (for symbolic reasons) his tie-neck ruffle thing. But none of that is my real problem with the design. His shoes are hideous. The heel is good.  He deserves a little heel. But what is going on with the white. It's ugly and going to be a bitch to keep clean. His slacks are too long. He’s a government agent, he can afford to go to a tailor.
7. Season 1 & 2 of the show

I dislike the shirt. I’m not a big fan of how they drew his face either. But I like how they gave him Trevor’s chest scar.
8. Captain N

He’s so rad. But to be honest, Captain N Alucard has a special place in my heart. I remember when this was the closest thing to an animated series Castlevania had. It being this high is purely my nostalgia. I highly recommend watching the episode. It is pure 90s camp.

10. Grimoire of Souls – Blood and Loyalty

I can’t find a better look at this skin. He’s apparently dressed as a samurai. I like this purely because his hair is up. I don’t see enough of that. (artists pls you’d be doing the world a service)
11. Lords of Shadow 2

The only thing I like about this design is the coat. The dark blue with gold looks really good. I don’t like the belts, but I can ignore them. My issue is the armor. I hate the bronze so much. The armor on one hip is ugly. The ONLY thing that salvages this crime is the fact this Alucard is wearing the highest heels. This looks like an MMO armor set.
12. Judgement

I only unironically like 2 of Judgement’s designs. This is not one of them. I dislike it purely because of how boring it is. They put Simon in bondage gear, gave Trevor a boob window, and made Sypha a Catholic magical girl. But Alucard has to be more modest than the actual child. They could have fun with this but didn't. The most interesting thing about this design is they made a vintage couch into his cape.
13. Dracula’s Curse

This is Alucard’s original design. It’s just your standard pop culture vampire. I like his little owl hair tufts.
14. Legends

I’m fine with changing up Alucard’s design. Hell, we got SotN because of changing it. However, why is he blue? It’s not this illustration either he is just light blue for some reason. I like the short hair. I think it’s a cute way to show this game takes place in the past. But again, purple? Really? His necktie is not doing it for me either. It looks really bad.
15. And finally, last and certainly least: Pachinko and Moonlight Rhapsody

The faces? Good. Hair? Good. But for some reason they made his coat brown. At LEAST for pachinko they had some gold gauntlets and brown gloves instead of his sleeve cuffs. But whatever fucked up person at Konami did the design for MR kept the sleeve cuffs. It’s not like there is the excuse of ‘Oh the inside is black’ because it’s yellow. Now you might be asking: Why is this the worst? I have similar issues with other designs. But here is the thing, they all did something new. This is just your standard SotN Alucard with a color palette change. It looks like a recolor skin but it’s the main one. It's a bad change but not one bad enough to not be boring.

I feel Tagora is a troll who'd enjoy a Lowblood as a Moirail.
He seems to grow nervous under a superior's gaze, so a Lowblood Moirail may ease his nerves.
Plus, a Lowblood is easier to control.
Your blood color in this fic is lower than Tagora, making you either Lowblood or Middle caste (Rust, Bronze, Gold, Olive, or Jade).
As his Moirail he has quite a bit of control over you.
Tagora is good with his words due to his caste and job.
He naturally is able to make you listen to him.
Plus then he can excuse it as him being protective.
After all, it's good to look out for one another, yeah?
Tagora would want his Moirail to be well kempt.
He offers to pamper you with skincare and cleanliness.
After all, appearances are important.
Tagora would want to do up his Moirail to be on the same level as him.
Plus, isn't it an honor for him to take you in and out of the bad side of town?
No drones will target you as long as he keeps you in his hive.
He'll even cover you in teal to hide you.
Tagora may be a shifty person but he does mean well towards his Moirail.
Plus, if he ever had to hurt anyone for you, he knows how to get away with it.
Tagora would try to keep up appearances around those around you, but he hates other trolls around you so much.
He smiles kindly towards your Matesprit and tries not to fuss too much about your Kismesis...
However, he is envious.
Like more yandere Moirails, Tagora would show possessive hostility towards your other quadrant members.
He wants your attention on him, after all, he's done so much for you.
Which is what makes him keep you in his hive half the time.
After all, his hive is very pristine.
Surely you won't mind staying there?
He portrays himself as calm and collected along with charismatic.
Although Tagora can lose his control really quick.
If he dislikes another troll you can see his eyes and mouth twitch a little as he tries to make them think he's their friend.
He's not... he's just playing nice since you're watching him.
Tagora is definitely a troll to lie to keep up appearances.
He'll lie to others, he'll lie to you, all to keep you to himself.
He's charming and often has a way with words.
You listen to anything he says because he's your Moirail.
Teal bloods naturally are charismatic.
He finds it pleasing that you listen to him so earnestly.
Although it also disturbs him... you can be taken advantage of.
So Tagora will play a role around others, puppeting others to keep you safe and to himself.
If anyone hurt you or tried to take you, I imagine Tagora snaps.
He's played nice long enough...
If other trolls push him, fine, he'll show them what he can do.
Murder isn't a foreign concept to trolls, fighting isn't either.
While he prefers to refrain from it, you're important.
So if Tagora decides to lock you in his hive or comes back to wash blood off his skin... don't say you weren't warned.
He tried to be nice...
But you mean so much more to him than any other troll.
You're going to stay here with him...
Where no other troll can tarnish you.

ok then how about if lucy was born naturally instead of being an ecto-child effectively resulting in her having no post scratch equivalent in a2, ergo leading to raz being a b1 human instead of an a2 troll
and shenanigans result in lucy entering the b1 earth where she saws off her horns and takes the identity of a human, specifically marona after witnessing a meteor body her, said meteor was bearing an infant augustus, of whom she adopts on the spot

also imagine this: norma and lizzie end up getting the same hive because their lusae somehow chose the same last name
while homestuck doesn't generally seem to say that trolls can have siblings, I do like the typical fanon theories that trolls sharing the same symbol/bloodtype or lusus could generally be considered siblings, so I like that as an explaination for norma and lizzie :-)
tho if I could suggest I feel like ford/norma should be burgundy instead of cobalt. ford doesn't seem like a higher royalty type + norma's most interesting when she's trying really hard to prove she's worth respecting and being treated seriously
all the other blood colors are chill tho no more objections there
if you wanna make the p7 and interns trolls, having lucy assume human marona's identity is a neat way to refer back to the original comic and the game at the same time, so thats fun too
back to the original set up you suggested, when you didnt know who should be with lucy cal and truman, the way you had set it up makes it look like you drew a connection between cal and dogen, which is Interesting. dart's a weird enigma of a cut character and while unfortunately I do not typically dig into the lipo documents bc I don't care for them, might I suggest that fuckin weirdo who ford originally had his mind shattering dual with.
if you don't feel like using such a weird useless character tho, maybe uuuuuuh boyd? he's basically like the PN poster child for its mind level designs. that feels natural feels organic, the rest of the thorny towers crew could get bit rolls or something.
Sheegor is also an option. her and cal having to be on the same team would be a nightmare

motion: How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?
-> This I actually find kind of funny, because by a stroke of luck, he wound up with 18 dex. (For mainly initiative-purposes, he's wearing the gloves of dexterity we got, but tbh, it's much funnier to me to think it's just naturally how he is.) So even though one might expect a dwarf in heavy mail to be all brute force, no grace, he's surprisingly coordinated. He might have very large hands, but they're quick and clever, and while his limbs are short and he's not exactly flexible (quite stiff from carrying the party AND all their shit) (he's, uh. very OP.), he isn't... totally hopelessly inelegant.
He'll be the first to admit that heavy armor is a hindrance, and it does slow him down a lot, but it's... still all he knows. All he's ever worn. He feels very unsafe otherwise.
When we went to get the githyanki egg (after having already killed everyone there, whoops), I used Arvid because nobody else had the jump distance to get up there, so... I like to imagine that Astarion was hopelessly shouting the instructions on how to disarm the traps from the shores, already braced for the inevitable-seeming explosions, and Arvid kinda just... learned how to do it, right then and there. To everyone's utter surprise. He was very, very impressed with himself for that too (as he should be, that was like... 4-5 consecutive successful investigation- AND as many dex checks). That success (and the high praise it is for Astarion to scoff about being relegated to the status of decoration) kept Arvid feeling quite good for a solid two days. Then they met Elminster, so, uh. Yeah, good feelings didn't last.
(I like to imagine that if he hadn't been trained as a cleric, he would be a rogue.)
formal: What's your OC's formal look? Do they like dressing up? Do they have different looks for different occasions?
-> The only formal look he has ever known is the Tempuran ceremonial armor he has only worn a few times in his life (it's like this bronze-gold color with red accents that really clashes with his complexion, looks awful on him), unfortunately. He's a rather austere person when it comes to it, very "utility-forward"- being both a priest, AND a small town man at heart with not many resources to spare, it was just when he got to Baldur's Gate like a year ago that he even started thinking about trying to look nice (which promptly ended with a "no, no, I'd just look silly, lipstick on a pig", poor boy).
Now, while he enjoys the idea of dressing up, he feels rather insecure about anything involving the possibility of him, well, looking nice, in a way that goes beyond being put-together and clean. He has it embedded in his pretty little head that that's about all he can hope to achieve with his looks. Cutting a smart figure, or being handsome, were... never really things he can say he's been accused of. (Well, not to his face, at least.) Either way, he's very much a "dark pants, plain shirt" person.

Side note, I've been looking at him so long that I barely even notice that he's blue anymore. I moreso just see that he's kinda pale, but his nose and cheeks are a pretty pink.
Which is actually pretty sweet, like I like to imagine that the characters probably see him like this too: at first he was this intimidating, thick trunk of a dwarf soldier that's both duergar-blue, AND armed to the teeth, but if you spend enough time around him and look a bit closer, he's just... a genuinely sweet person. He's withdrawn and buttoned-up, but he's kind, caring, wise, and so what if he's blue and burly, he wouldn't hurt a fly if he can choose to help it instead. When he lets his guard down, he's just nice to be around.
I genuinely love him, lol.

Although it’s not a big must to include a vivid description of your character, it would be ideal because if you don’t, your reader will form his/her own impression which creates a problem if later the character is described, making the reader have to adjust their thinking to suit the description which should never happen.

As a writer, writing character descriptions is important because you are painting the canvas for your readers and no artist leaves any details out. Some ways to write strong characters is starting with physical appearance; since literature is non-visual, a picture is the first step towards building your characters development and instead of focusing on monotone words, choose the adjectives that stand out to you and really go along with the image you have in mind about your character, and think of the characters interests and hobbies; if you mention that your character likes harry potter, your readers might imagine them with some sort of accessory in their outfit that represent him.
Of course, in our life, we see many different people, with many different traits and features, so why not use them? Practicing writing character descriptions that fit the people in your life is a great way to make the description flow easily especially if there was a person who really caught your eye, and you still remember them. Writing descriptions that feature your friends and family will make it easier for you because you’ve spent so much time with them. So try to make a list of possible physical traits and character traits that you’ve observed in your life, like when you meet someone new, what’s the first thing you notice? Think of your first impressions of people and create your own person.

--Automaton Artist-- I don't remember exactly what prompted me to make this one, but I vaguely remember that this automaton lady was supposed to be an artist, with her multiple arms helping her work on multiple projects at a time. Something I wish I had sometimes! The things floating right by her are some of her tools, and the doodle off to the side is just - a random doodle, I guess, I can't remember what I was thinking of for that one.

In alphabetical order:
Alice is with a man, but without getting into the mess that is Alice/Jasper here, I don’t think theirs is a particularly physical relationship. I mean, if Alice wanted to get laid, she could just decide to fuck Jasper, enjoy the vision, and bam. Itch scratched. Thanks, Jazz. Alright, I’ll be serious. Alice and Jasper are with each other because the other represents salvation, not so much because of a personal or physical attraction but because of mysticism. So to me that doesn’t really say much about Alice’s preference. All the same I can’t see Alice having a particular preference, she’s too... Alice. Although it is easier to picture her with women. She is also the second half of the Alice/Bella homoerotic extravaganza, which makes heterosexual Alice even more farfetched to me. So, bisexual or lesbian Alice.
Bella shows clear attraction to women as well as men. She’s attracted to Rosalie, Alice, Edward, and Carlisle. I’ll just give you guys quotes: Of the three boys, one was big — muscled like a serious weight lifter, with dark, curly hair. Another was taller, leaner, but still muscular, and honey blond. The last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students. The girls were opposites. The tall one was statuesque. She had a beautiful figure, the kind you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, the kind that made every girl around her take a hit on her self-esteem just by being in the same room. Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back. The short girl was pixielike, thin in the extreme, with small features. Her hair was a deep black, cropped short and pointing in every direction. (Twilight, page 9) This is the Cullens’ introduction. I won’t spend much time on it, just notice the difference between Rosalie and the others. Rosalie is highlighted in a way Alice is not, and Edward is at first glance only the boyish one of the guys. Rosalie was the Cullen whose beauty immediately stood out to Bella. It was hard to decide who was the most beautiful — maybe the perfect blond girl, or the bronze-haired boy. (sic.) Bella has realized by now that Edward’s a grade A hottie, but she’s still torn between him and Rosalie. Bella then gets to know Alice, and they become friends who take showers together(!). Rosalie may be the most attractive Cullen woman, but Alice is the one Bella gets emotionally close to. We get this in New Moon:  UNNATURALLY STILL AND WHITE, WITH LARGE BLACK EYES intent on my face, my visitor waited perfectly motionless in the center of the halt, beautiful beyond imagining.  (...) I locked my arms around her, gasping to inhale as much of the scent of her skin as possible. It wasn't like anything else—not floral or spice, citrus or musk. No perfume in the world could compare. My memory hadn't done it justice. (New Moon, page 191) Bella never thought she’d never see any of the Cullens again, so for her to be hysterical and ecstatic upon seeing her second favorite is not by itself damning. I’m sure she’d be ecstatic to see Emmett too. It’s that fact that she’d missed Alice’s scent that’s interesting. The scent of her skin was something Bella was aware of before they parted. And while it may be tempting to say “it’s because they’re vampires, Bella’s admiring them like she would a work of art!”, Bella never dwells on Esme, Jasper, or Emmett in this way. Jasper and Emmett especially are not admired beyond the introduction of their characters. We never hear about what any of them smell like, nor does Bella remark upon their beauty after waking up a vampire. Carlisle and Edward, by comparison, are men she keeps noticing. Bella finds Carlisle blindingly beautiful when she first sees him as a vampire, and there’s this from New Moon: Though it erased the sting, it reminded me of the gash, and I watched Carlisle's face carefully to distract me from what his hands were doing. His hair gleamed gold in the bright light as he bent over my arm. (New Moon, page 18) There’s thinking someone is pretty, and then there’s gazing lovingly upon their face instead of pain killers. Bella is bisexual.
Carlisle moved in with a very gay man, had a close relationship with him, lived with him for the sake of his company for decades, and only left because of dietary differences. We don’t know for sure whether they actually had an affair or not, but the fact remains that of all the Cullens, Carlisle is the one who is implied to have had a homosexual relationship in canon. He loses his straight card based on that alone. Also gonna link this clip, because I’m Mac listening to Edward talk about how young Carlisle lived with this sexy Mycenaean Greek for a few decades when he was young. Aro is all the santas. Carlisle is bisexual.
Edward... oh boy. His brain is supposedly seventeen, and yet this very interesting thing happens in his relationship with Bella where he never notices her body. Not ever. By body I mean curves. Edward notices Bella’s skin, her frailty, her humanity. He praises her blushes, her doe-like eyes, her warmth, her softness, her swan-like neck, her delicious scent. The feminine aesthetic. He does not once notice her tits. The only tits he is on record noticing belong to Siobhan, and it’s because she has an impossible to ignore rack: She was profoundly female in shape—aggressively, forcefully female. (Midnight Sun, chapter Probability) It’s one thing for him to be old-fashioned and too quintessentially Edward to even think the word “boob”, but in 700+ pages of Midnight Sun there’s just this absence of this seventeen-year-old noticing her curves. More damningly, when seeing Alice’s vision of vampire!Bella, Edward is horrified at the sight of his love cold and hard. He doesn’t describe vampire!Bella by any of the positives, like “flawless”. Edward is attracted to the human, not the woman. What that means for his sexuality... well, I’m going to go ahead and point out that he is very weird about Carlisle, and it’s damning that the personality he projects onto Bella is so similar to Carlisle. I hesitate to apply a label here, but in my own, personal, headcanon we’re veering towards homosexual. Deeeeeeply closeted homosexual.
Emmett is straight. Straightest guy ever to straight.
Esme is pretty clearly taken with Carlisle. Though if she were to feel attracted towards another woman, I imagine she’d have no idea what to make of that, if she even recognized it for what it was. She’s from a very different time and still living in that time, and she continues to be very sheltered. Still, as per my personal headcanon, I see her as straight.
Jasper, who knows. Though if he’s into guys, he has probably gone for it in the past. I suppose I should write a meta on vampires and sexual norms in general, but in short I don’t think they all live monogamously like the Cullens. STDs and pregnancies are unheard of, as is social ostracizing. Vampires are hedonistic, Twilight vampires more so than any other. Which in turn means I don’t think Maria and Jasper were monogamous. A couple, sure, but I don’t think Maria would say “oh noes, I can’t, I’m with Jasper!” if someone she was attracted to made an overture, and same goes for Jasper. So, if Jasper was into guys, then sure. I can see Jasper/Peter happening, or even Charlotte/Jasper/Peter. Jasper is certainly into women, with the possibility of guys as well. And if so, then it’s probably happened.
Rosalie I’m shocked is with a guy in the first place, everything about her screams lesbian. However, she’s clearly into Emmett, so apparently she’s bisexual.
(I’m not including Renesmée in this, since she’s three months old by the time the series conclude.)
This all being said, several of these people are from very different times and wouldn’t have the same concepts of sexuality internalized as we do, so how they’d identify is a very different matter.

just curious, what’s your favorite and least favorite character design? my least fav for sure has got to be female byleth for reasons i don’t want to get in to yep ok have a good day 😁

Okay so, to preface this all, I’m not a character designer and I’m actually pretty bad at it, but my rule of thumb with really unappealing or fan-service outfits is whether or not it makes sense character-wise and how much it tells the player about the character. For example, I think we can all agree that there’s quite a bit of fan-service elements in Hilda’s design. Boob window. However, it’s not unrealistic to imagine Hilda picking out those clothes for herself. Her costume tells you almost everything you need to know about her character on a visual level. She’s confident, pretty, attention-grabbing, and high maintenance while the gloves and laced girdle give a nod to her Viking-maiden roots.
Taking it to female Byleth, I don’t think that her outfit works on either front. Her design is definitely my least favorite and it’s not helped by the fact that you have to look at her at all times. Whatever. The huge, solid mass of boobs, the buttoned bib, the big eyes, the feather hair, the bellybutton, the ripped tights, the booty shorts. She’s a merc out in life and death situations with an accessible, pale, tacky 2000′s “stab me” stomach cut out and a wedgie. Which could be excusable if, like Hilda, there was reason to believe that that her costume was character choice. But she doesn’t really have much character, and what there is gives the impression of a very stoic, dry, blunt person. I have no idea why they’d have gone that route when the sexual appeal of more “utilitarian” costuming (aka, form fitting armor that at least pretends to be functional) for characters like her is scientifically proven AND would say more about the singular personality trait she possesses. Okay, well, I know why they didn’t do that and I think it’s lame. This dysfunction of “character designer wanted a sexy girl but it’s kinda random and just shoved in the game without any thought” actually reminds me a lot of Xenoblade 2′s leading ladies, Hikari and Pyra. Although considering that their bad designs led to a lot of people hating the game for superficial reasons while accepting female Byleth’s design, I guess I’m just bitter. Jumping to a different comparison, then, look at 2B from Nier Automata. Her design is fine as hell which is kinda hypocritical of me considering that it's explicitly fan-service, but I think it also shows the most damning thing for female Byleth. Her whole look, despite having a dozen different element thrown in, is boring. Maybe it’s the colors (dressing her in all black and white would have been really interesting considering the colors of the three lords are so heavily emphasized as a part of their characters) or maybe it’s just the way the desperate elements come together. But, like I said, I'm not even slightly knowledgeable about character design and I know that despite Three Houses being mostly separate, they had to appeal to a larger aesthetic brand to which I have little experience with. And, ultimately, a lot of people find her cute or sexy which...To each their own, I suppose. I don’t pretend that fan-service doesn’t work on me (2B... Cloud’s arms in the remake... Seph's shirtless Smash skin...) but when it’s this obviously inserted in by the character designers rather than feeling organic in any way AND looks bad I'm just not super interested.
The other worst designs for me would be all four of the Ashen Wolves post timeskip. I don't think it's controversial to say that they didn't try with the clothes, even if I love their designs from the neck up (Yes, even Balthus. He looks like the type of guy that would let you sit on his shoulders at a rock concert so you could see the stage). While there are other designs I think are unappealing, those are for purely aesthetic reasons and so I can't maintain the opinion that they're actively bad or that I even truly dislike them.
As for favorite looks... I actually have a few so sorry you're getting all of them because despite the shit I'm talking, I actually really really love the character designs in Three Houses. 
Ferdinand's post timeskip is one of my favorite designs, if not my favorite. The hair, the coat, the armor, the spurs, the colors. You know exactly who Ferdinand von Aegir is just by looking at him. He’s wealthy, handsome, confident in his appearance, a hero, a princely type character, his battle form is mounted combat which is traditionally aesthetically reserved for nobility and leaders... I love it. The only reason I cannot say he IS my favorite is because of the three Lords. But before them, my honorable mentions include post timeskip Hilda, Dorothea, Lorenz, Felix, and Hubert. Granted, I could make a case for why I like almost all of the student’s post timeskip looks.
For the Lords, I obviously have to start with colors because, weirdly enough, Persona didn’t invent primary colors but are actually used as shorthand. Blue is the color of honor, loyalty, sincerity, sadness, and depression. Something I’ve always found very interesting is that blue is very rarely found in nature. To me, that’s always made it seem more lonely which, at least in this case, is thematically relevant. People call Dimitri boring pre timeskip and while I won’t defend his hairstyle (okay, actually, I probably would because he tucks it behind his ears and idk why but that’s one of the cutest things ever) I really like how unassuming he is. Bland. He’s supposed to be the plain shortbread cookie to caramel deLite Claude and strawberry meringue Edelgard. It is not in his character to draw attention to himself or stand out. To me, he kinda looks like an old Barbie prince, like he should have been named Dominic. Also I love the blue eyes/blonde hair thing and his more angular features. It really helps to sell him as the fakeout chivalrous prince type. Post timeskip, Dimitri's black armor is amazing. I love the fact that it’s a lot more intricate up-close with the different little shell-like pieces and the fact that his boots are furry. I love the big cape and the black and white fur around his shoulders. It’s really cool how they used his costume to change the shape of his in-game model to match the bodily proportions of the character art. It’s easier to see when you change his costume into the DLC ones, but the fur and cape build up his shoulders and chest look more broad while keeping that tiny little waist. The choice to give Dimitri an eyepatch is probably my favorite thing about this design. It’s genuinely inspired. Such a simple detail yet it tells the player everything they need to know about adult Dimitri when they see him post timeskip, in one frame the player can begin to understand the extent of his loss over the past five years. The subtle shadow under his eye in the first few Azure Moon chapters and the messy long-ish hair really help to sell the feral prince aesthetic as well, as it’s from those small cues the player gets that he’s exhausted (in more ways than one) and doesn’t maintain himself. None of these things are intentional choices by Dimtiri, they’re the result of what his character has been through.
Yellow is an intense, energetic color. Mostly, people think of it as being warm and inviting, the color of the sun and positivity. That intensity can be overwhelming, though, too visually demanding when compared to its primary counterparts. Don’t stare at the sun too long. Buuuut, it’s okay to stare at Claude. Claude not wanting to wear tight pants in either of his costumes is not only a mood, it is iconic. Pre timeskip, the softer lines of his silhouette makes him look kinda slouchy, kinda lazy. Like he’s not too concerned with appearances. But those adorably messy curls, the little braid, the clearly tended eyebrows, and earring make it clear that he DOES care about appearances and is very aware of his allure. And that’s before he even starts winking. It is honestly so in character that as many people picked him first on the basis of being thirsty, that feels like an intentionally Claude thing even if it was inserted by the designers. The contrast of his complexion with his seagreen eyes is gorgeous and instantly adds a kind of mystery and intrigue to him considering the setting... but it’s sf funny that nobody looked at bronze god Claude among a sea of white faces and thought something was up. Post timeskip, they used the same trick like they did with Dimitri to change Claude’s in-game model to match his canon appearance. The way they designed his uniform makes him not look as twink-ish, like he’s actually muscular and imposing and has the strength he’d need to shoot a war bow with a 120lbs draw weight. Also like Dimitri, you can instantly tell what Claude’s been up to. Like, he was very pretty pre timeskip but when he shows up in the Goddess Tower after those five years in all that gold, he demands your attention. Like a gentleman general with the excessive aesthetic ideals of the Alliance and details to imply his heritage. The quilted pants are amazing from both an aesthetic and practical standpoint. He’s a mounted unit riding a creature with scales, of course he’d want something on his legs for protection. And the chinstrap. I love that so much, it definitely makes him look more adult. He’s got such a cute soft baby face, it’s fun imagining him experimenting with different styles during the five years to get the most desired physical reaction to him as a leader. 
Frenchfries, meet forehead. No, actually, Edelgard’s design is really fantastic. Claude and Dimitri both have realistically colored eyes and hair and then there’s Edelgard. Dimitri shrugs off attention physically and Claude shirks it with a wink but Edelgard commands the players attention from the very start. Although I’m sure there’s a lot of things to associate with white hair and purple eyes, my first thought was Daenerys from Game of Thrones. Otherworldly beautiful by with an edge. Red, of course, is The power color. Strong emotions, love and hate. Red is also associated strongly with blood, which is very important to Edelgard’s plot. Granted, I think the red and black association is even more powerful than JUST red and red is the cheapest play to make in regards to displaying villainy (I mean, there are some pretty universally recognized associations with red and black and it led to people making some unfair comparisons between Edelgard and a famous dictator) but I think it was effective and well used and I genuinely enjoy its use in her case. Anyway, if I had a major complaint about her design it would be the weird ashy color of her hair whereas Lysithea’s hair is pure white. Which doesn’t even matter with the AMAZING hair horns. Ram horns can actually symbolize quite a few things, but their association with power and strength is pretty universal I think. They’re also used in demonic imagery. I love that THIS was her alternative to a crown. Edelgard views herself as a force of war and power before she thinks of herself as royalty. She also mentions that she isn’t super vain, but she loves to do her hair, so the hair being the most elaborate part of her look is entirely in-character. Edelgard’s ensemble is, like Claude, very militaristic. I love that they kept her in a dress that embraces femininity without showing skin as that wouldn’t really suit her Also, again, Edelgard demands your attention. She’s dressed all in bright bright red waving around a giant axe. She is a symbol as much as she is a combatant, someone to follow. I didn’t really mention their secondary lord costumes, but a girl in sexy armor is literally everything and I love that they had the balls to put their main sexy waifu girl in full body armor.
Okay I’m sorry I realize this was excessive and probably didn’t need explaining and I’m not sure I even articulated my thoughts properly but anyway I love their designs so here is the positivity I’ll put into the world.

Female Cloths that have no reason to exist
You all know what I’m talking about, right? Yeah, you do. You absolutely do. 
I’m talking about three specific instances of Silver Cloths that, instead of looking like armor and acting like armor, are more like... oh, you’re a girl? Let’s show that body! Let’s have nothing but a pathetic excuse of armor that should you try to fight will have you easily stabbed in the guts. 
What pisses me off is not the (bad) design itself. It’s the fact that the Silver Cloths are described are armors that cover the body more than the Bronze Cloths. Yet, we have Marin, Shain and Yuzuriha wearing nothing.  These Cloths should adapt to the body of the wearer, right? Well, I want you to imagine how those pathetic armors would adapt to a man’s body. It’s so painfully clear that those armors (or lack of armors) were designed without keeping practicality in mind, but just to have something revealing.
This is a really long post, so I’m hiding it under the “read more”, but I wanted to put my thoughts out there because I’m honestly tired. 
We have example of functional armor. We have June (who’s still better in Awakening as far as design goes, imo), and we have Thetis. 
So first of all, let’s take a look at those good ones, shall we?

This is, in my opinion, one of the best armors I’ve seen worn by a woman on this series. It’s not different from an armor you would see a man wear, just adapted to fit a woman’s body. It has everything; gauntlets, boots, cuirass, pauldrons... nothing’s missing.  A perfect example of how an armor should look. Not a comparison for a Silver Cloth, because the probability of a Silver Cloth having less pieces is high, but a comparison between a good decision and a bad decision.

This is really good for a Bronze Cloth. The amount of armor, given the description of those Cloths, is perfect. She has everything, and at the same time not too much, perfect for an armor of that rank, since we know that the Bronze Cloth cover the smallest amount of the body when compared to Silver and Gold.  The only thing I don’t like is that she has an impossible “catsuit” (I really don’t have any better ways to call that) under it. It would make way more sense if the upper part was more like a tank top, than whatever sorcery is going on. You ever tried to wear sleeveless anything? You know that stuff slips off continuously.  Aside from that, she’s amazing. 
The main reason why I wanted to present these examples to you is to clarify that I’m not complaining about how much of the body is shown. There’s plenty more male characters that literally are unable to stay dressed on this show (Shiryu, I’m talking to you, wear a goddamn shirt for once).  I’m complaining about how unfair it is to have female characters being so... in a way, objectified. We have good examples, so why not using those examples for characters that should need more than what they’re given?
To make this even more clear, another armor that has no reason to exist is this:

Because honestly, a Surplice covering nothing of importance is really useful. 
I’m focusing on the female characters here because, while half a Surplice is bad, is not as bad as women wearing Silver Cloths that are supposed to be a better protection than Bronze Cloths and instead they get to wear metallic underwear.
This little armor:

only makes sense for a Bronze Saint. They are supposed not to have a lot of it. And yet, this example in particular has more pieces than the classic Eagle Cloth. It does nothing, but it literally covers more than a Silver Cloth. This armor also has boots, of course. 
Let’s tackle the problem, shall we?

Try to convince me that she’s not wearing just a goddamn metal bra. Come on.  This is not armor.  This is Marin opening her closet, finding one of her fanciest bras, and wearing it alongside those gifts that are actual armor parts. 
The smallest Bronze Cloth of the classic series has a large total of pieces. Boots, gauntlets, some kind of cuirass, pauldrons, knee guards, helmet (in Saint Seiya the definition of helmet is weird, by now we know). Some of them also have those pieces that in a suit of armor could be faulds or tassets, some of them have simple belts, some have cuissess. Give or take 1 to 3 pieces, basically.  The smallest proper Silver Cloth has the same pieces, only they cover much more of the body. Or at least, they should, but we have examples of Silver Cloths literally being the same as Bronze Cloths. It makes me kinda frustrated, but knowing that those armors are stronger gives me a bit of peace.  The best Silver Cloth is the Lyra Cloth, obviously, since it actually matches the description accordingly. 
So... we have what? 2 for the boots, 2 for the gauntlets, 1 for cuirass, 2 for the pauldrons, 2 for the knee guards, 1 for the helmet, and give or take 1-3 pieces for the “optional” ones I mentioned. It’s 10 pieces of armor. 
How many pieces is the Eagle Cloth composed of? 0 boots, 1 gauntlet, 1 breastplate (in absence of other words to call that), 1 plauldron, 2 knee guards, 1 helmet.  It’s 6 pieces of armor.  She’s supposed to have the same, if not more, compared to a Bronze. 
Not only that, have you seen what she’s wearing under it? How is that even remotely comfortable in battle? You know how many times that weird... what the hell is that? A tight high sock? would slip down during a fight? Unless she glued it in place, I highly doubt it’s a good fighting outfit.  It would have been better for her to wear either a single catsuit, or even to keep the leotard but have both of the red tights (preferably leggings uh, you don’t go to battle in tights) be a full piece.

The manga armor actually has one more piece. It’s not much, but it’s something. It resembles way more how other Cloth’s are treated, when the breastplate is so small.  However, it’s still missing boots. There’s literally no other Cloth, save for Ophiuchus, that doesn’t have boots. What now, they are too much for a woman to handle? June and Thetis have boots.  Marin gets leg warmers and shoes she has to personally provide, apparently, because her Cloth is a discount one. I get that it has to resemble an eagle, but come on. There’s totems depicting smaller animals that have more stuff.

See how easy is to give her a proper armor? It’s still missing the boots, but it’s already much better. It looks like a Silver Cloth, now. And this is only one of the many “updates” I’ve seen made by artists way more talented that I could ever aspire to be.

Is this really so unrealistic? To have an actually good Cloth for a Silver Saint?
Now, time to take a look at Shaina.

How many pieces is this armor comprised of? 1 breastplate, 2 pauldrons, 0 boots, 1 gauntlet, 1 helmet, 2 knee guards. A total of 7 pieces, just one more that Eagle. 3 less than a basic Bronze Cloth. 
The same exact discourse applies to the Ophiuchus Cloth. Copy-paste what I wrote for the Eagle Cloth and use it here.  Also the hot pink leg warmers paired with yellow HEELS (which yes, are stupid), green leggings and brown leotard are a spectacular combo. Who in the fresh hell decided the colors for her, this is a disaster more than her Cloth. 
At least she actually has no gaps between leotard and (hopefully) leggings.
I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but the Omega Ophiuchus Cloth is so much better than this, at least in base concept. The art is as ugly as my face in the morning, but the concept is legit.

Once again, the manga has one more piece. It looks like she’s not wearing shoes, but it’s the manga, I give that a pass. 
But this particular Cloth makes me unbelievably angry, and you know why? Because the Ophiuchus Gold Cloth exists. And the Ophiuchus Gold Cloth is the proof that this thing doesn’t need to be so useless, because if that can be proper armor, this could be as well.  It’s a design choice, and it’s a poor one to say the least.

Look at this, and tell me that a decent suit of armor couldn’t be conjured for the Silver Cloth as well.  The Ophiuchus constellation is literally a man holding a snake. There’s no excuse for not having a human-like Cloth like, I don’t know, the Andromeda Cloth.  Instead, Shaina gets a version that’s not even half a human figure, with nothing to wear but discounted armor that honestly should go straight back to the shop where it came from. 
This is what makes me even angrier when it comes to this particular Cloth.

See how much better it is? How much more realistic it looks, when it comes to Saint armor? It looks like a proper Silver Cloth like this, even with no boots.

It’s not that difficult! Just have them wear the same stuff their companions wear, is this so much to ask?
But now we come to the best one. Peak character design. So amazingly appropriate for battle that it’s stunning. Crane Yuzuriha from The Lost Canvas.

What. The. Absolute. Fuck. 
How is that a Silver Cloth? How is that a Cloth? Come on!
Leaving aside the fact that I hate how she doesn’t wear the mask (I made a post about this whole issue, back in the day, I’ll try to link it as soon as I can), she has basically no armor on expect for her legs and arms.  Whatever bullshit is going on on her chest is everything but armor.  She has sandals, for gods sake. Sandals. You don’t want to be a Saint wearing sandals, this is not Ancient Romans having wars for breakfasts, this is a supernatural warrior constantly kicking the shit out of stone and trees (generally speaking). How are sandals something appropriate for a Saint? This is the same exact stuff I wrote for the skirts of the Saintias, it’s not appropriate for the setting. 
But let’s leave this, and let’s tackle what she (doesn’t) wear under her armor. Yuzuriha, my dear, I know that you have abs of steel and you want to show off, but that’s an excellent way to get injured all over with no effort whatsoever. Unless you have invulnerable skin, you’d want to wear something better than booty shorts and bandages that are apparently glued on her boobs. Wear at least something like June, if you don’t want to have sleeves.  This is a design flaw, not something beautiful. The concept is good on its own, but a Saint should NOT be dressed like that. They’re constanly being thrown at whatever surface is the hardest at the moment. Imagine your bare skin sliding at the speed of sound on rocks and dirt.  It’s not only unpractical, is technically dangerous. And I get it, this is an anime, everyone is invulnerable unless blood is needed, but even then this is utterly ridiculous. 
And now, the most ridiculous thing of them all: the breastplate.  It’s literally two sheets of silver feathers apparently glued to her skin. Nothing more. It’s not armor, it just... it’s literally nothing. She’s better off not wearing it, at this point, because it’s useless. 
She would just need a better breastplate/cuirass for that Cloth to be appropriate. Everything else is fine (minus the heels, but at this point why do I even try).  In comparison, a male Saint wearing that Cloth would probably end up shirtless, either the Cloth adjusts itself to the body or not. Who in their right mind would go in battle shirtless????? (yeah yeah, Shiryu and Dohko, but those two have armor on when they don’t act like strippers, at least pay them good money dammit). 
What infuriates me is knowing how the other Silver Cloths are like. It’s painfully obvious that Yuzuriha had to be the edgy woman with revealing clothes and armor, when you look at the REAL Silver Cloths of this series.

Those shrtless dudes also want trouble, but at least they are somewhat covered. They still need to wear a goddamn shirt, but they also have more armor.  Why they can be THIS normal, but Yuzuriha has to look like she lost half her armor in a dumpster fire and tried to make to with the remnants?
I really like her as a character, and I don’t mind her wearing what she wears (dude, she’s can afford to dress like that, I wish), but the Cloth is terrible. 
The women in Saint Seiya Omega were better equipped than these three poor souls. I don’t like that series at all, and I forgot at least half of it (if not more) since the last time (aka the first) I watched it, but they do have more properly designed armors.  These three - Marin, Shaina, and Yuzuriha - are a perfect example of what you don’t have to do when designing armor for female characters, unless you don’t actually need the armor and it just aesthetic.  June and Thetis, on the other hand, are the perfect example of what you HAVE to do when designing armor for female characters, following the circumstances and the setting.

Arthur was long used to silence, to nights that were deeper and darker than they had any right to be. He's been sailing his whole life, had seen more than most men his age ever would. But he's only believed half the things he's laid eyes on in his time.
This night, the sky was pitch black like he's never seen it before, the moon standing high upon the firmament, hidden by thin and harmless clouds. He used the stars for orientation, alone on his ship as he's been for a long time, abandoned by the people he's once called his family. They had left him, one after the other, had succumbed to illness or madness, had been taken from this life by force or misfortune.
It might be his influence that had tainted them all this time, that had cut so many existences short, and maybe, he was better off living in damnation as he did now.
He didn't mind it. Far from it. Arthur treasured the silence, found solace in the swaying of his ship and the movement of the waves. His entire life he's known nothing else, the ocean the only thing that stuck with him without fail.
Believe it or not, sometimes he left his ship behind, went ashore to stock up on provisions he couldn't obtain in the middle of nowhere, showing his weathered face to people who'd forget it in a heartbeat. He didn't have the luxury to linger, the blood in his veins telling him he needed to go back, itching and aching for the soothing motions of a hull above the bottomless sea.
There was a time he's been terrified of it, though Arthur couldn't remember much of that period. Back when he's been picked up, merely a dirtied and starving kid from the streets. He had despised the ocean then, had asked to return to shore even though Dutch reassured him of his safety, spending the nights crying and wailing because he was scared of what lurked beneath his feet.
Arthur had gone on land not too long ago, walking up the same path he's once known by heart, entering the dingy tavern Dutch and Hosea had frequented most. It had been almost comforting, the stench of the drink and of heavy tobacco smoke, the music filtering into his ears.
He had met a man, gray and scarred and grumpy, little different from himself. The stranger had lots of stories to tell, had nursed a drink in his hand while glancing up at Arthur with his one healthy eye, the other focused on a place up on the ceiling.
"You know the most dangerous of 'em all, boy?" He had asked, well into his tales already, though Arthur hadn't paid too close attention. The man's voice was hardly audible above the overall noise. Arthur had given him a grunt, almost curiously, looking up from the rum in his own hands. "Mermaids." The way he'd voiced it sure made it seem like the man has never met anything more repulsive and despicable in his life. But Arthur knew that his story was nothing but balderdash in the first place.
For some reason, he could remember the conversation still. The words never having left his mind entirely.
Soulless, heartless monsters these are. Luring sailors to the riffs, takin' pleasure in watching 'em crash and drown.
He hadn't bought into it before, his many strange encounters never having involved mythical fairy-tale creatures. The only dangers in the world were man-made. The only monster man himself.
It had been Dutch's philosophy, but Arthur still lived by it. He had never forgotten the things the man had taught him, even if he had left him a long time ago. Even though he'd exchanged his loyalty for gold.
Arthur stepped towards the wheel, glancing up at the stars to make sure he stayed on trail, though where it led him, he wasn't too sure about. There was no place he wanted to be, nothing he really wanted to see, craving the loneliness and emptiness in the middle of the ocean more than anything.
As he slightly changed course, however, an unexpected tune made him slow in his movements. Usually, the nights at sea remained quieter than the days, both fish and seagulls disappearing the moment the sun sunk below the line of the horizon.
It was odd to hear anything other than the rushing of the waves, more so when it sounded like a person was making those mournful sounds.
His legs led him closer to the railing, Arthur squinting his eyes to see through the darkness. He was getting closer to the sound, to the singing, or wailing or crying, words shaped in a language he couldn't understand, in a voice that sounded more like a harp than anything human.
Oh, they're pretty, make no mistake. Angelic, some call 'em. But that only makes them more dangerous.
He couldn't believe his eyes. A sliver of moonlight illuminated a rock within the water, and atop that rock – sat a creature.
Arthur had never bought into the many fairy-tales, into the fiddle-faddle even Hosea had used to like so much. Stories of the many wonders in life had never interested him, the magic of it lost when it came to things he couldn't understand nor grasp. He had experienced his share of suffering, of misery and pain, unwilling to believe that it could co-exist with the likes of fairies, angels, mermaids.
Right now, he wasn't sure if he was waking or sleeping, if maybe he would awaken in a cold sweat minutes from now, staring up at the ceiling of his empty cabin. It had to be his imagination, the loneliness finally getting to him and inducing images that simply weren't there. He had always thought such tales to come of crazed men after all and maybe finally, his own mind was starting to break from the long days and nights he'd been on his own – but the singing... he was sure his brain could never think up anything like it.
The creature was nestled on top of the stone, a naked human torso with two arms, a head upon it's shoulders with long dark hair. It appeared so much like a person, though Arthur had no way to ignore the tail, the shimmering scales that reflected the moonlight in colors he couldn't describe, colors he had no name for.
Silence soon spread over the area. And all Arthur could think about were the reverberations of that ethereal voice.
Why did they stop? He thought, unable to voice his words as his eyes tried to find the creature's – the man's, he had to remind himself. This wasn't some magical being.
"Are you lost?" the stranger didn't open his mouth to speak, the sound of his voice dancing through Arthur's brain.
Is it that obvious? he thought to himself, earning himself a laugh, clear and chiming like a bell, a startled breath escaping his chest. His tongue darted out to lick his cracked lips, dry from the salt-water splashing upwards constantly, from the sun burning down on him day in and out.
"Don't be afraid," the voice was in his head again, Arthur taking a step away from the railing, moving back to the wheel to hold it, to hold something. It had began turning all on it's own before, seemingly bringing him closer to the cliffs. Though he didn't know if it might've been him who's given it that impulse.
They get into your head, and infest it like a disease. They know what you fear, what you need to hear. Believin' a single word they say would be your downfall.
But Arthur was falling already, had been for a long time, yearning for nothing else but a comfortable place to land. "You deserve a break." He heard water splashing and as soon as he turned his head, the creature was gone from it's place – the man nowhere to be seen, Arthur rushing over to the railing almost desperately.
He shook his head, trying to snap out of it, rubbing at his eyes before taking a deep breath. The water glistened innocently under the illumination of the moon.
For years, he's been alone without feeling lonely, has lived on despite the emptiness that had taken over him. He had done well in forgetting Dutch and Hosea, his family, his brothers, his own father and the woman he had once loved. Neither of them had needed him and now, he didn't need them anymore. There was a certain heaviness to his heart, either way, a weight that seemed to pull him down, melancholy overcoming him like never before.
His eyes focused, and the man was back, closer this time. Arthur caught a glimpse of his tail moving beneath the pitch black water, the scales glinting in violet and blue – in many more shades he couldn't decipher.
"What's– your name?" He asked, dumbly, seeing eye to eye with this creature that was more beautiful than any human he's laid eyes on before. His skin was dark, bronze, his eyes deep as the ocean he was living in. He had scars, pain behind the depth of his gaze. Just like Arthur did.
He didn't want to remember the old pirate's words but he couldn't help himself.
Once they got their eyes on you, you've lost. 'Cause they see inside you, and find that weak little soul you keep locked away - and they suck it outta you with one look alone.
How could that be true if the man in front of him was looking at him like this? So honestly, affectionately... like no one else ever had.
"Javier," this time he'd opened his mouth to speak, Arthur's hands clinging tighter to the railing. The man smiled at him, reaching up and out of the water. His fingers were cold where they held onto Arthur's. But they were undeniably human; freezing like the ocean, but without claws or webbing between them.
"Aren't you– afraid of me?" Was what left Arthur's mouth next, his voice in disbelief that a creature as fragile and beautiful would be willing to touch him. His hands had been drenched in too much blood already, had killed and hurt, had broken families apart for his own benefit.
Big brown and bottomless eyes focused on him, and he felt ready to drown within them. "Why would I need to be afraid?" It seemed as though the man couldn't see into his soul after all, unaware of the rottenness within. "You won't hurt me," he continued, certain of that fact, his fingers clasping Arthur's a little tighter.
No, I wouldn't do that, he thought, catching the quirk of Javier's lips at his unspoken words.
Don't think they'd show mercy. All they want is to pull you down into the depths.
But maybe, he didn't deserve mercy in the first place. Since Arthur's purpose in this world was long forgotten, what difference would it make where he was? The presence of this man made him feel safe, warm, at home. And whether he believed in him or not, he couldn't deny that he was right in front of him now. Offering him a way out.
He gazed down at him, the melody from before flooding his ears again, turning his lids heavy and tired. His limbs started to feel like they weren't one with his body, though he still couldn't let go of the railing.
"Don't leave me again," he whispered, unsure where the words had come from, the song in his head reawakening the sadness of his mind. "I want–" he wanted to stay with him, with this fairy-tale creature, wanted to fall with him and let go of the pain he's caused before.
Yet again, he didn't need to open his mouth for Javier to understand, his cold hands lifting to hold onto Arthur's face, pulling him down. "I'm not gonna leave." He brought their lips together, and Arthur could feel himself turning lighter, weightless, drifting for a moment until his body broke through the surface of the pitch black water.
Arthur didn't hear the splashing, didn't feel the cold or how his clothes grew soaked. His guns would be useless by the time he resurfaced, but it didn't matter, because he was kissing this man and they were falling together – deeper and deeper into the darkness of the sea.
Faintly, he remembered the old sailor again, though his image swam before his eyes.
And no matter what they make you believe, they aren't capable of love. They'll mourn after they've drowned you, but no grief is strong enough to keep them from doin' it again.

Imagery/Association
I associate particular objects/phenomena with particular feelings or themes, and the imagery I use in my writing often reflects that, so I wanted to make a list of these associations.
ROSE
When I envision a rose, I envision it as a stemmed rose, with the thorns, and the color to be a richer, darker shade, something akin to maroon. I find that the rose is a symbol for life, with its beauty, its fragrance (roses do have a smell, even if they are not very famous for it - at least in my personal circles they are not known for their fragrance), and its thorns. Enchanting, rewarding, romantic and painful, bloody, if you are not careful.
I don't 'see' the phrase bed of roses, not in its original context, because I do not see a pile of petals on the bed, I see the entire rose, and that's not too comfortable, is it? It denies the purpose of the phrase, at least to me, which is why I don't use it as often as needed, instead I go for sunshine and daisies (a Harry Potter reference? Why yes).
When it comes to envisioning rose petals, I imagine them to be a little wilted, indicative of the rose's presence, and of the time that has passed between then and now. Or I imagine it as a lone petal that has fallen of prematurely, a young, proud red in its innocence. I usually do not imagine them to be purposefully pulled off and strewn about, although sometimes, that fits.
Speaking of roses, I use the term rosy quite a bit, as in, rosy outlook, rosy relationships, but I don't associate that word or descriptor with a rose. The color, for me, is rose-gold, a light shade of bronze with added pink tones, which, to me, is of a dream-like quality, unreal, but beautiful, nonetheless. But when I use the word rosy, I am not thinking of rose-gold. The color I associate with the word, and the usage of the word in my writing, are not the same. The use is in the traditional sense, all that is good and beautiful.
Although I did choose a rose-gold engagement ring for a couple, symbolizing that their love, while beautiful, was a touch removed from reality, as in, they had zero arguments or disagreements, zero hardships, up until that point of their relationship. Does not mean that there is something fundamentally wrong with them, only that they were yet to experience the trials of love and relationships. A rose-gold ring, love wrapped in a fantasy. Beautiful. Unreal.
SUN
The sun is not only a big fiery ball in the sky, not to me, no. I see it as a source of life, a source of power, a source of love - bright, warm, yellow and gold and orange and red. Also, bright white, in my head at least. And I use phrases like 'he held the sun in his smile' to mean that he held love, love as powerful as the strong, as luminescent, that it was both a comfort to feel it, and a pain to face the intensity of it. The sun, is used to inspire awe, to instill a sense of admiration, to make the character quake under the powers when they are caught off-guard, or to make their hearts swell because someone loves them, that much.
Also used for general happiness, but not to be mistaken with sunshine or sunshiny, those have different connotations than the sun (as they should, since they are a part of the whole).
Sunshine is also used in my personal spin on the phrases 'life is not a bed of roses' or 'it isn't all rainbows and cotton candy clouds' -> it isn't all sunshine and daisies. Sunshine symbolizes optimism, at least for me, so that's the reason.
SPIDERWEB & COBWEB
Let it be known, that I hate spiders, and I hate spider webs, but that doesn't stop me from associating spider webs with life and using it everywhere. Same with cobwebs. I have discussed this earlier, so I am simply going to quote myself (the creative high I get from this!)
I think, longing, is something that is always, very 'delicate and tangible', and cobwebs, although dirty, are perfect descriptors. The dust can be a metaphor of time, old memories, the darker, cruel streaks being the bitter haze coating the translucent strings of Fate (woven out of life -> the spider and for life -> insects/sustenance) that make up the web. The web, that is thin, and, often looks like a tangible sliver of a rainbow (when the light hits them in the right angle), and yearning, yearning is all that, and more.

okay, Sleeping at last exists, and they produced songs that are titled with numbers. (you know where i am going). and because I am obssesed with TUA, of course I saw possibility. I picked out lyrics out of each song that,in my opinion, do fit quite well with the characters.

The limousine door opened, greeting the sisters once more. After a long welcome by the royal staff, Y/N and Amelie finally made their way to the place they’d rest for the night. It had been nearly seven hours since the pair had stepped foot in Audrilluria, and so far, everything had gone smoothly. The sun was already setting, illuminating the island in a lavish purple tint with feathery pink and yellow clouds floating overhead. Amelie entered the vehicle first, letting out a long sigh of relief the instant she let her tired feet rest below her. Y/N followed suit. Both sisters exhausted by the day’s activities. Both impatiently waiting the moment they could rest their backs on what they’d assumed was a mattress made from the richest cloud royal wealth could buy. 
“How much longer until we arrive at the guest house,” Amelie asked the driver, who until now had been quiet since their arrival. “It’ll only be a couple minutes, Lady Santiago. The Guest House is a mile south of the castle. Once we arrive, your Chaperone, Edmundo will take you to your joint room and help you settle down,” the driver replied, his baritone voice sounded with hints of a northern Irish accent.
“Thank you, Mr.--” 
“Corb, Elliot Corb.”
“Mr. Corb it is then,” Y/N confirmed. There was a brief pause surrounded only by the gentle whirring of the air that passed the vehicle. “I assume you would like some time in private,” Corb spoke before closing the window that separated the driver's seat from the rest of the vehicle. 
Amelie turned to her sister, sure that they were given complete privacy. “That was an eventful first day.” Y/N nodded, letting her shoulders slump into the seat. “Absolutely,” she sighed. “How many times did we have to repeat our names to other noble persons?” Amelie laughed lightly rolling her eyes and relaxing into the seat as well, “I lost count after a thousand! And it’s only the first day.” Y/N shook her head and shivered slightly. “If this is what it’s been like so far, I can’t imagine how we’ll feel after two weeks.” Amelie groaned playfully. 
She turned her attention to the window, captivated by how the light from the sky illuminated the lush green life outside the vehicle. The trees and vast areas of grass painted by the purple tint coming from the sky. Y/N followed her sister’s gaze, seeing the same beauty of the island, finding herself captivated as well. “This place really is straight out of a fairytale,” Amelie said for the second time since their arrival. As the vehicle slowed, the peaceful green scenery was replaced by a garden with a large fountain. Turning into the driveway, the limousine’s windows revealed a large, illuminated building. It’s beauty second only to the castle they’d come from. Its white, window covered walls were decorated by golden accents. The vehicle stopped in front of the guest house entrance and Edmundo opened the door. 
“Welcome to Queen Georgiana Clementine Rosewell's Guest House,” he announced, motioning to the entrance with his right arm. Y/N stepped out first, still admiring the building’s beauty. “Woah,” Amelie gasped, following Y/N, “This is definitely not what I was expecting!” Edmundo chuckled, leading them through the doors, “You’re in Audrilluria, you’ll have to get used to fairytale life.” 
They walked passed the lobby and entered one of the elevators, also decorated in the same white and gold as the rest of the building. Once the doors closed, Y/N turned to Edmundo, “Shouldn’t we check in first?” Edmundo regarded the older sister, “No, no, that’s already been taken care of, madame. One of the perks of having a chaperone. We are headed to your suite on the third floor. I hope you don’t mind separate beds in a joint room.” 
The elevator doors opened to reveal a long hallway with three doors on each side. The walls were decorated with chestnut pillars and intricate designs that looked more like they were painted instead of wallpaper. “Down the hall to suite 142,” Edmundo instructed. They continued down the hall, taking in every detail of the walls. They stopped in front of the last door on the left. Edmundo opened the door to reveal a large, brightly lit room. Everything was cream and had bronze-colored accents. The room consisted of two couches and an ottoman in the center and a chandelier hanging overhead. The decor around the room matched the overall vintage royal feel of the room. 
The girls looked around the room in absolute awe. “Ah, I see you like it!” Edmundo walked around the room, making sure everything was in order. “As I said, you have to get used to fairytale life.” Amelie walked around the room and stopped at the door on the right. She turned the knob and opened the door to reveal a dazzling aquamarine room adorned to the brim with bronze accents and a few cream structural accents. The walls had a few paintings of former Audrillurian royalty with a plaque identifying them. The bed matched the chairs and carpet and the chandelier was a smaller version of the one in the main room. 
Edmundo walked in behind her, smiling. “The room across from it is the exact same in looks,” He commented. He motioned to the corner that contained her luggage. Walking out of the room, he addressed both girls, “Well I will leave the two of you to rest. There is a telephone in both rooms and you will have an 8 am wake up call followed by a breakfast gathering at 9:30. Anything else, just dial the front desk and ask for me.” Edmundo walked out to the hallway, leaving both girls to marvel in the room’s charming appeal.
“Ok, so today we rest, and tomorrow..” Amelie started. Y/N snapped out of her stupor and turned to her. “Tomorrow we use to gather intel. After breakfast, we’ll have a few hours of recreational time before the ball. We'll get as much Intel now so we can put parts of the plan together accordingly. After tomorrow, we only have a week and five days until the coronation. We can't waste time unnecessarily." 
Amelie sat down in one of the large main room couches. "So let's start listing our options for intel."

              “Well,” Charles started dramatically, “That was hell!” Thomas walked over to his bed and let all his weight drop. “You’re not making this feel any better.” Lying on his stomach, he let himself relax while facing Charles. “I’m right! I miss the simplicity of not having to impress other noblemen and focussing simply on governing the people behind closed doors.” Charles continued. To this, Thomas sat up, facing him with a slight hint of annoyance in his tone, “That’s not exactly what I would consider simplicity.” 
Charles turned to him, his face contorting with confusion. A sudden wave of realization washed over him and he turned to fully face Thomas. “Oh! Right, don’t mistake your cherished dream of the simple life for the luxury of living quite literally like kings! How could I forget?” Thomas sighed, relaxing once more on the bed. “Perhaps we should just try our best to deal with being good hosts for the rest of the time they are here.” Dismissively, he kicked off his shoes and undid his tie, setting it neatly onto the nightstand to his right. 
“Right, right let’s talk about something more interesting,” Charles began. Thomas, having enough for the day, covered his eyes with his arm, “And what would that be?” Charles smirked deviously, going to sit at the foot of the bed and leaning in towards him.”Don’t think I didn’t catch you staring quite intently at the daughters of the Spanish Marquess,” he teased. Thomas removed his arm from his face and stared intently at the ceiling. For a moment, he tried to analyze what Charles was insinuating. For a moment, he wondered if he wanted to know. 
“What exactly are you implying?” He asked, almost instantly regretting his question. Charles leaned in closer, his smirk growing. “I think you know. I mean it’s one thing to stare because they finally revealed themselves to the world, but your wandering eyes never left one sister in particular.” Thomas shot him a warning glare. “Why is that, dearest cousin?” Charles persisted.
Thomas sighed, “You said it yourself, I was surprised to finally see them at all.” 
“Of course, of course. It’s not at all because she was beautiful and carried herself in a way that suggested she was a free spirit,” Charles teased. “It’s not at all because the colors of her outfit perfectly complimented the color of her skin. Or how her clothes accentuated her features. Or how her hair brought out the sparkle in those beautiful eyes.” Thomas sat up. “Or how--” “Enough,” Thomas interrupted. Charles chuckled. 
“Well then,” He stood, walking back towards the door, “I’ll leave you to dream about a simple life with the beautiful Santiago heiress. Y/N, was it?” With that, he left Thomas alone with his thoughts. Maybe Charles was right. Maybe he did feel a certain infatuation with the Spanish Marquess’s eldest daughter. Maybe there was a possibility that at least one of the things he longed for could be true. Maybe--
He shook those thoughts out of his head. Simplicity has never been a part of his life, and that wouldn’t change when he was crowned king. He had to get up early tomorrow, so he had no time to melt his mind over the ‘what if. Charles was right though, he could always dream.

A/N: This chapter is a little shorter, but it’s done. This took me a while because of a mild writer’s block, but it worked out in the end. Another added character, yay!
