he just BECOMES as yggdrasil? he just, you don't understand, he just becomes the tree? the core of time itself? he just wields the power of literal gods and transforms the flow of all timelines into a tree, using the timelines themselves as the fibers and pathways to create a self-supporting structure that he feeds his own power through like life-support? for all of eternity? to keep everyone and everything in existence EXISTING??? he just takes the form of the thing he has grown up knowing about, yggdrasil, for his whole life, dreaming of conquering all sentient life forms on all the trees branches, and instead of conquering it, he creates and powers and guides the very flow of time itself that those people will freely live upon? the symbolism. i'm dying, the symbolism. yall. yalllll.

episode 6 hits just as hard two years later.

i still haven't moved beyond sylvie's desperate why aren't we seeing this the same way? the realizing between them, so sudden and visceral, that this wasn't going to work out; that the mission came first for sylvie- after seeing the man who ruined her life, in her eyes, loki's hesitancy was treason, but that sorrow in the line, why? why can't we agree? the low below-the-belt punches in her "do it, kill me and take your throne"; she's spitting venom, she doesn't believe it in the slightest, she just wants him to stop, to agree with her, to tell her that it was worth it, all of her suffering she survived to get here, to set the rest of the universe free, but he won't. loki won't say what she needs to hear. the way they both cry when he begs her to think, to stop, take a minute. the way her blade catches the crook of his neck and he tosses his to the side to get her to listen, at the risk of his life, just to get her to listen, please. the way he pleads. the way she leans in to kiss him as if surrendering and how the moment holds in the air but she can't give up after so long. how she gently shoves him away with her fingertips despite his begging, the most sincere moment in his life and he is rejected. and then how she tosses hwr's desk away the minutes loki's gone, how she stabs he who remains, she snarls and asks him aren't you going to beg for your life. she locks eyes with him as she plunges the sword in and watches him bleed out. and before he's even dead she falls to the floor, the weight of what she did setting in, the lack of relief she'd always imagined she'd feel horrific. the terrifying loneliness hitting right at the moment, too heavy to even keep her legs supported. the terrifying loneliness loki feels from the other side of the universe, maybe the only thing coming close to matching.

like. yeah it's gonna haunt me forever.

Magneto is almost openly murderous. Magneto's goal is literally enslaving humanity and making it so that mutants reign supreme. He is not a good guy, and reading these old comics has made me confused as to how anyone thought he was a good guy. Just because they have him a sympathetic backstory after the fact doesn't change how often he's tried to kill people, been verbally abusive toward his henchmen like toad, or how he's actively calling for the enslavement of humankind. He's not a good guy. In fact, I'd say a lot of other villians come off better than him. Because magneto is a mutant supremacist, a unique thing that makes him rank worse than even Doctor Doom or Loki or The Mandarin any other famous marvel villians.

Anyways, we were joking the other day about how we might as well be called Fall Duo 'cus we just keep falling so I thought I'd do a drawing of that — then the hyperfocus kicked in and I did more work on it than intended :P
