I'm bad at math, but is Bruce theoretically 38 years old when he goes into the time stream?

Hear me out (and canon likes to fluncate their ages, so this is my best guess without trying to account for birthdays):

Bruce becomes the legal guardian of 9 year old Dick when he's 23. That's a 14 year difference.

Jason becomes Robin when Dick leaves at 18. Jason is 13. That's a five year difference.

Jason dies at 15, and Tim becomes Robin at 13. That's a two year difference.

The age difference between Tim and Bruce would thus be 21 years.

Tim becomes Red Robin to find Bruce at 17.

That means that Bruce had to be 38, right? Why was I imagining him closer to 50?

Adopting so many kids must have aged him

I read some of my posts about titans tv show and wow it stills make me insane... the titans blame Jason for leaving clues of their dark past when rose is right there just after Jason nearly dies so he wants to kill himself and dick has to talk him out of jumping off a roof literally. then he dies because he was addicted to fear gas (?) Dick just blames him and goes into his room and tells everyone something's off because there is a book in his room and he is illiterate and Bruce kills the joker and then goes to kill himself by burning down a castle with him still in it.

Since it's Epilepsy Awareness Month, I tried to finish this at least sometime in November... even if it meant starting on the 27th, finishing it on the 29th, and posting on the 30th.

dickie and jason headcanons pretty please

Everyone thinks Tim and Damian are a nightmare to have in a room together, but it's actually Dick and Jason. Tim and Damian still need to work through a thing or two and subconsciously pull their punches because of that, but Dick and Jason have no such thing. They've been siblings the longest and at this point it's an undisputed fact that they love each other, so there's zero limit to them being absolute menaces

They've been in a Toy Blast standoff since last year. Dick keeps speedrunning the levels and Jason keeps deleting the app from Dick's phone until he catches up

The bathroom switch in the Bludhaven apartment is outside the bathroom. Barbara kept telling Dick to get it changed and he kept procrastinating, so when Jason broke in and turned the lights off in the middle of Dick's shower, all Babs said from the other room was "Told you so"

Jason: "Alfred, tell Dick to quit breathing over my shoulder"

Dick: "Tell Jason to quit blocking the screen with his big helmet"

Alfred: "Sort it out yourselves, this is not in my job description"

Dick wrestled Jason for an Oreo but also gave him the comfier sleeping bag in the span of five minutes while they were on a stakeout

Jason is absolutely the sibling that chases Dick around the house with a knife for fun when Bruce and Alfred aren't around

Dick: "Get out of my room"

Jason, lurking outside the windowsill: "I'm not in your room"

Dick's outfits aren't truly considered nice until they pass the Jason Test, which is getting a "meh" instead of "you look like you were drawn by a fourth grader"

To brag that he got the last slice of pizza, Jason slapped it across Dick's face

The most accurate ruler in the world is the one they use to split the last candy bar (but Dick secretly lets Jason have an extra millimeter)

And the most accurate measuring cup is the one they divide the last of the apple juice with (though Jason generously gives Dick a few drops more)

The tension is palpable—even the Subway guy cutting their sandwich can feel it

Alfred sends them out to do yard work and they start sword-fighting with increasingly bigger sticks until Dick grabs a rake and Jason whips out the All-Blades

Jason: "I was here first!"

Dick: "I was born first!"

Jason: "I was adopted first!"

Dick has two Instagram accounts—Dick Grayson and Nightwing. Jason has three—Jason Todd, Red Hood, and the verified Nightwing

When the Cave is colder than usual, Jason brings Dick his favorite peppermint hot chocolate but always takes the first sip

Together they stole the bat-plane, flew to Lebanon for food, received a hefty fine after nearly colliding with a fighter jet, got a huge scratch on the side, paid someone under the table to fix it, and put it back where they found it in the span of Bruce debriefing the Justice League

Dick will go through Jason's leftovers, pick out what he likes, and leave the rest. Later he'll hear Jason walk out of the kitchen shouting "Who the FUCK took the shrimp out of my shrimp fried rice?!"

When they were kids Jason's bedtime was half an hour later than Dick's. Dick still has beef with Bruce about that

Dick is Player 1. Jason is Player 6 because the first time they played he grabbed a random controller from a box of dozen

Jason: "Help me bury this body"

Dick: "Sure"

Jason: "Also I need to delete all record of this guy's existence"

Dick: "Will do"

Jason: "And can you get me a drink?"

Dick: "Get it yourself"

When he first arrived, Jason was resistant to the idea of having an older sibling until he realized he has Younger Brother Privilege

Dick hides the remote with a sword swallowing trick and Jason hates it

They use texts for personal conversations, WhatsApp for vigilante business, and Snapchat for unhinged memery. It's like talking to 3 separate people

They also have their own text abbrevation: DTB (Don't tell Bruce)

They don't apologize, they just sulk in their rooms for a couple hours until Alfred calls them down for dinner and they forget all about it

Goon: "Who's that blue fella? Youse was fightin' real loud"

Jason: "Nightwing. He just pisses me off sometimes"

Goon: "I can take care of him"

Jason, lighting a cigarette: "Go ahead, I'll be here when you get your ass handed to you"

the thing that ive noticed the most about jason todd adaptations is that they completely ignore that his death was caused by his biological mother selling him out to the joker. they always characterize him as reckless and that he intentionally faces the joker head on to prove himself or otherwise. honestly i think the real tragedy is the original idea that his mom fucking sold him out and jason STILL tries to save her when they both get betrayed by the joker and left to die. that’s so fucked. you travel across the globe to find your mom in the hope of finally finding someone who can truly love you unconditionally and she sells you out to the cruelest man alive, who beats you black and blue with a crowbar in front of her and then leaves you and your mother to die. and you still try to save your mom after all she’s done.

i feel so outta the loop with whats going on with that art tracer, they're also a race bender too?

okay so the art tracer has gone by many names over time. i used to be mutuals with them (i feel very stupid about it now for not recognizing them!) but they used to go by (in reverse order, from most recent to oldest):

- marco / red, who traced art back then as well (you can check my "mutuals.marco" tag for more of their art. i tried to give benefit of the doubt back then, but it is very clear their understanding of anatomy and other things does not quite line up with their physical "skill." look at the semi decent grasp of anatomical elements and proportions but entire lack of detail and messy linework on things like fingers and hair. ive noticed these things as ive gotten better also at art. they were into genshin, the quarry, and "apocalyptic" media. their card visually is the same, with the same strange typing quirks, tagging system, and carrd details as 'aray' (ie: the three emojis at the bottom of a small text box, with the key leading to i believe platonic or familial f/os i cant remember which.) marcos main f/o was buck from 911, which carried over to the 'aray' blog. theyve since deleted this f/o from their list. dina and ellie were on marcos list towards the end of that blog. that has since carried over. they also strangely had dragon ball blacklisted, as they do on their current blog, which is very likely because of the issues they have had with keke/@galedinner the past who, at the time of their old blogs deactivaton and new blogs creation, was fixated on his dragon ball f/os, and had some fairly popular posts regarding them.

- kayle, the shipper who also racefaked (at first to being wholly poc, then mixed, then 'part' native i believe because their...stepdad? was native? hello?they also faked did, and e-begged for money after causing a three-car pileup via distracted driving. they were into DC with bruce wayne always being their 'main' f/o,' and genshin. (this is where keke very bravely called out their shit, which is where their issues with him started i believe.)

- ana/anastasia, a shipper who also used to trace art, specifically DC comic art. they shipped with bruce wayne and jason todd.

- a few other blogs whom i never checked, but if you remember that "deactivation speedrun" thing that happened round a year ago on my blog, that was them also, also going by ana again. i called them out on clearly trying to weasel their way back into the community, and they immediately deactivated.

just to name a few. they didnt racebend, they falsely claimed to be poc more than once. they claimed i believe to be at points: latinx, native, and black mixed? i have talked to more than one person who has known them throughout all these blog changes/at different points throughout, as well as adding my own experience, in case youre curious as to where im getting some of these details.

this is how they drew their selfinserts (character on the right) btw, at least when they were going by marco:

i have added an image of my own arm and colorpicked directly from it, which is the the darker two colors -- mind you, i am polish and irish. im about as white as it gets ethnically, though i admit im not as pale as i could be for it. i picked from my natural tone and even from the lightest part i could see just to really try to throw a bone, and they still drew their s/is very consistently paler than me. and then claimed to be poc. (also, look at the hair. the clothes folds. the hands. its very clearly traced. no way someone is so good at facial anatomy and proportions and then...draws a hand like that. im sorry.)

its a clear pattern, and quite easy to follow through time via their interests and other small details about their blog/typing/tagging system/etc.

theyre not a great person, and im quite upset i didnt pick up on the kayle -> marco switch when it happened, but i try to give people benefit of the doubt. i have known them for years, though rarely interacted directly with them until they went by marco, though i dont know if they know i have known them so long, as i myself have gone through a few name/url changes since then (but it is all present on my blog. i have never remade attempting to 'be' someone else. i just think theyre not that smart to realize.) others im sure have more dealings with them, and feel free to add on.

Merry chrism. Here are a few pages of DPxDC doodles. The first page is a scene and a bunch of sketches from my fic Speedrunning Puberty. The little gem necklaces are gifts of ectoplasmic ice that Danny gave to Jazz, Sam, and Tucker. Possibly to be used like stones of far speech. More likely to be used like shared mood necklaces. They help Danny protect them.

The pinball Wizard is a cover mock-up for chapter 3 of Speedrunning puberty

The Red Hood and Danny page is Red Hood and Danny meeting and then Danny very dramatically falling backwards off the roof to escape further interrogation. Jason is not convinced that Danny isn’t secretly Dick. He has the mullet. He has the puns. He has the stupid exit strategy.

Last page is just fun Sam and Jazz doodles. I really like the idea of Sam and Jazz both being magic users in DPxDC crossovers, and I might fit it into Speedrunning Puberty that they are. Also I think Sam and Zatanna should be friends.

12. Are there any comics you’ve read knowing they’re bad and why?

Hundreds. Possibly thousands. I am actually a staunch proponent of reading bad comics. Everyone should do it. I'm serious!

If you want to be familiar with a character's history, personality, and relationships, you are going to have to read some bad comics. No character is only in good comics. (Kamala Khan comes very close, but she's less than a decade old.) The older they are, the more true this is. Jason Todd has been in 80% bad comics since his resurrection. You can read only the good ones, but you will miss important story and characterization.

If you want to have any understanding of comics history, again, you have to read bad comics. I joke a lot about being Comics Georg because I will decide to do something like, say, read every Green Lantern comic from 1940 to the present day in order, but every time I do that I speedrun the whole history of the medium with way more context than if I just picked a random story from the 60s or the 80s or whatever. I'm not saying everyone needs to do that - I do it because I actively enjoy it, and if you don't enjoy it, don't do it! But scarfing down a whole big chunk of comics tells me so much more than picking and choosing only "good" ones to read.

Everyone has a different idea of what a bad comic is. A lot of people think Tom King's comics are good! They're wrong! There are Alan Moore comics that don't hold up if you think about them for even a second! Bad is relative!

Sometimes bad comics are the most fun, especially a lot from the 80s. I am not going to argue that Guy Gardner: Warrior is a work of deathless art but I have such a good time when I read it. It's utterly silly in the way so many 90s comics are and that's great. Guy can turn his arms into guns! There's a were-tiger and a guy with pubic hair down to his knees! What's not to love?
