i’m begging for you to take my hand wreck my plans, that’s my man
'lupine lawlessness: why lycanthropes don’t deserve to live' by emerett picardy.
that was the book that fell out of snape’s bag.
the cover was well worn and curving at the edges; snape’s ego would never let him buy secondhand, which meant he must’ve read the book multiple times. on the inside of the paperback cover was snape’s signature, unabashedly bold and written in dark ink that covered half the page. it was almost like he wanted everybody to know his beliefs on werewolves—no, he wanted you to know.
that left you with one conclusion: he must’ve found out about remus’ condition.
the notes in the margins did nothing to unwravel the knot in your stomach. you weren’t sure if you were still in your dorm, or if the world had started spinning on an axis with you at the very edge, clinging on and swinging unsteadily. in his thick, heavy-handed scrawl, were thinly veiled threats.
Tumblr media
should be put down for public safety. the book, which was already yellowing with age, fell to the ground from a sharp tremor of your hands. debilitating pages unbound themselves from the spine and fluttered through the air, deceivingly elegant in comparison to its depraved contents.
remus lupin was none of those things. he was not soulless, nor evil, and he absolutely did not deserve-
lyall lupin? lupin… remus’ father?
you had a vague picture of remus’ childhood. he grew up in isolation from muggle society as a safety precaution, and distanced from the wizarding world to avoid the prejudice and discrimintation. in your first year defense against the dark arts class, you’d studied werewolves as a part of the ‘dark creatures’ unit. you had your qualms and discomforts with that section of the reading, even as an 11 year old with no awareness about remus’ condition, but the wizarding world was becoming more progressive (or so it claimed). the old defense teacher had retired in your second year; the ‘dark creatures’ curriculum had been edited heavily and the crude language had been replaced.
you didn’t know where snape got this book, much less such an old edition containing such foul language that wasn’t commonly used anymore. the ministry’s werewolf capture unit had formed a separate branch (the werewolf support unit) and dolores umbridge’s anti-werewolf legislation had begun to loosen. you figured snape must’ve owned this book for years now, considering its outdated information and wear, or he’d stolen it from the restricted section. either option terrified you. either option showed his dedication to hating lycanthropes, and by proxy, remus.
there was an abrupt knocking on your door. before you could invite the knocker in, lily, mary, and dorcas streamed in, chatting about the next hogsmeade trip and what lily should wear to slughorn’s party.
that’s right, you thought. i still have to attend the party with james. and snape will be there too.
“hey babe, have you started getting ready?” lily smiled at you, oblivious to the dread clouding your mind.
you swallowed thickly. “yeah, i was just thinking about what i should wear!” you lied, putting on a chipper voice for the sake of your friends. “shall we get ready together?”
mary bounced on her feet, clapping excitedly. “oooh, my mum sent me some jewery last week, you should totally wear some!”
dorcas started digging through her dresser. “i’ve got this cardigan that’ll go perfectly with your dress, lily! it’s bound to be cold in the dungeons.”
lily grinned, turning to her own bedside table. she dug through the drawer; things tinkled and clacked from within. she pulled out a necklace and held it in the air triumphantly. “for you!”
you rushed over, pushing the apprehension to the side. you could worry about this later—for now, your friends were here to care and dote on you, and you couldn’t be more appreciative of their ability to cheer you up.
“it’s gorgeous!” you gushed, allowing lily to clasp it around your neck. her fingers were slender, ghosting over your skin as she fixed the cold silver chain. “thank you, lils.”
“don’t thank me,” she shook her head humbly, “it’s like it was made for you. there’s a little moon charm, d’you see? i thought of you immediately.”
you quirked your mouth into a confused smile. “that’s so sweet of you! you’re so thoughtful, always thinking of people out of the blue.”
mary chortled. “oh darling, it wasn’t out of the blue this time. it’s a moon, because of you and moony, obviously.”
“excuse me?”
dorcas pointed her finger at you. “see? i told you that’d be her reaction. ha! marlene owes me three galleons.”
you deflected. “oh, where’s marlene anyway?”
dorcas looked at her shoes bashfully. “she’s, uh- james offered to lend her a suit. she looks… really good.”
you and lily looked at each other knowingly.
“alright!” dorcas clapped her hands, trying to break the tension and redirect the focus off her. “let’s get the two of you dolled up; looking good for the dates!”
lily was eager, completely compliant as mary stood behind her and curled her long, ginger locks. dorcas was holding up different products and you were giving your opinion on each, a little more hesitant than lily, who seemed to fall naturally into the beautification process. you supposed it was because she was already very beautiful herself.
“you look very handsome,” dorcas mused, placing her hands on your shoulders as she admired your reflection in the mirror. “well, you always look great. but i think i did a pretty good job.”
you turned your head to examine all your angles. “agreed. thank you, dora!” the two of you exchanged a loud, forceful high five, catching the attention of lily and mary.
“wow!” mary squealed. her hands lifted halfway to her mouth before she turned and patted lily’s bicep to confirm she was seeing the same sight.
lily gasped. “you look incredible! potter won’t know what hit’em.”
you rolled your eyes. “you know i’ve only got eyes for one person- oh merlin.” you cursed, having (once more) revealed your crush on remus with undeniable clarity.
lily smirked, looking you up and down appraisingly. “we should head out early,” she decided. “maybe we’ll run into a certain someone in the common room.”
your face turned serious. “i swear to godric, if you tell a single soul…”
mary made a zipping motion across her mouth. “not a word,” she promised.
dorcas quirked her head at you. “alright, but you’ve gotta make a move at some point! teasing you in private is getting boring; plus, lupin’s a real catch. someone’s bound to snatch him up if you don’t hurry.”
you bit your lip. dorcas was right.
“fine! fine. this is my formal allowance for the three of you to talk freely, but please, don’t scheme. and please, don’t tell anyone.”
the three girls grinned widely.
“okay!” lily cheered. “now that this piece of juicy gossip has been revealed, i say it’s time for us to make our accidental appearance in front of mr. loverboy.” she wiggled her fingers at mary and dorcas, making sure to take dorcas’ cardigan before she left. you helped her slip it on and made sure her dress was all laid out properly. dorcas was right, the cardigan did look lovely on her. you weren’t sure how long james would stick around after he saw lily looking so ravishing.
as you made sure each of lily’s straps were tied into neat bows, you missed the look of amazement on remus’ face as you made your grand entrance down the spiral staircase. well, it was no different from how you’d normally walked down the stairs, but when lily saw remus’ face, it was as if he were prince charming catching sight of cinderella for the first time. lily would know—she watched that movie countless times with petunia before coming to hogwarts.
“holy shit…” remus whispered; the corners of his mouth quirked upward unconsciously. you caught his eye, and he blushed, dipping his head down to reveal his red-tipped ears. his eyes flickered between your eyes, and you could tell he was restraining himself from roving the entirety of your body (which you wouldn’t mind if he did). you hid your delight by covering your mouth with the back of your hand, careful not to smudge the lipstick dorcas had so meticulously applied.
“i- you-” remus started, mouth parted in astonishment, “you look beautiful,” he murmured, voice strangled and raw. vulnerable.
“thank you.” your voice was small; eyes hazy. you dipped your own head shyly. “you look beautiful too.”
remus smiled incredulously. “me?”
“yes, you!” you countered, shaking your head at him. “what’s up with the surprise?”
“i just- i didn’t realize you thought that about me.”
you tapped your foot anxiously, feeling like you’d been caught in an act even though you’d done nothing wrong. remus seemed uncomfortable; perhaps you came off too strong. perhaps he didn’t feel the same, and didn’t want you to say those sorts of things to him.
“are you calling me a liar?” you teased. “that i don’t feel that way about you? you don’t know how i feel about you,” you quipped, well aware of the double meaning behind your words. lily seemed to understand as well.
lily tapped her wrist, checking an invisible watch. “alright, stop flirting and let’s get going! i’m nearly positive slughorn’s never going to let it go if we show up late for the first meeting.” she tilted her head toward the portrait hole, and leaned against the wall to wait for you.
remus coughed lightly. “i do mean it though, you look… truly incredible. i don’t know- i haven’t got the words to describe how you look, but when you come back, i’ll have something figured out and i’ll tell you then.”
“well, i was really looking forward to talking to slughorn, so i was planning on being there for the full time and maybe staying after. but i guess i can come back early, even though i wanted to make connections and stuff…” you huffed. “you’re quite demanding, d’you know that, moony? always bossing me around, telling me when i should come and go, like you’re some possessive boyfriend,” you taunted.
remus pursed his lips, hollowing his cheeks as he tried to hold back an embarrassingly large, telling smile. hearing ‘moony’ and ‘boyfriend’ was doing horrible things to his mind. the worst part was that he couldn’t be your boyfriend, no matter how much he wanted to. (or how much you wanted it, if you felt that way in the first place.) sometimes, it felt like life was mocking him, dangling the possibility of being with you in his face like bait on a fishhook, and then reeling it back before he could catch hold. he’d gladly pierce himself on the hook if it meant he could be yours.
“thumper! evans!” james’ giddy voice came booming from the boy’s dormitory. behind him was a suave looking marlene and a grumpy looking sirius. “wait up!”
lily shouted back. “we’re going to be late. you hurry up, wanker.”
marlene was doing a poor job of being discreet as she snuck back to the girls dorm, probably to see dorcas, and sirius was running his hands through his hair.
“you used up half my gel,” sirius grumbled. “and then you messed up your hair, so what was the point?”
james was by your side in moments and he offered you his elbow, which you accepted with a flourish. lily’s eyes darted to your linked arms, but she quickly recovered and gestured to the portrait hole. “the slug club awaits! onwards, my friends.”
lily’s kitten heels echoed through the corridor, clicking steadily, playing metronome as she set a brisk pace for your trio. there were already muffled voices emanating from the grand doors of slughorn’s meeting room; you were only a few minutes late.
it was drastically louder once you stepped inside. smooth jazz played from a vinyl which slughorn had amplified with a charm, fifth to seventh years were mostly stuck in cliques based on year or gender, and older wizards in dressier robes mingled with each other, for the most part disregarding the students. slughorn was meandering through the clumps of people, looking slightly distraught at the party’s reluctant beginning.
“miss evans! miss y/ln! mr. potter!” he beamed, squeezing past some adult wizards to welcome you. he shook each of your hands enthusiastically. “perfect timing! we’re about to begin dinner and introductions, so please make yourself comfortable at a seat.”
lily smiled apologetically at you and went in search of snape, while you and james found seating next to each other at the long, rectangular table. the two of you examined the students present: bellatrix lestrange, regulus black, snivelus severus snape, emmaline vance, pandora sailstream, yazmin patil, and of course, you, james, and lily.
slughorn stood from his position at the head of the table, tapping his fork on his class very traditionally. “dear students, colleagues, and friends, thank you for being in attendance today. as you know, the slug club is a group of exceptional hogwarts students with great potential, and i hope to nurture and create talented, powerful witches and wizards of you all.”
you looked at james with raised eyebrows, mouthing: “this feels like an ego trip more than trying to help us.”
james snorted, and a couple heads turned towards him. slughorn continued, unphased.
“now, if i can have our students introduce themselves, your interests, etcetera… starting down the line here,” he pointed at bellatrix, “we can begin dinner and i’ll allow you to interact with some of my old friends here.”
bellatrix cleared her throat; smokey eyes surveying the table. “bellatrix lestrange, slytherin house, pureblooded from the noble house of black-” she earned quite a few impressed looks from slughorn’s friends, “-advanced magic theory.”
you, and it seemed a few other half-blood and muggle born students, took notice of her emphasis on blood status—nearly her entire introduction was about her pureblooded status.
she and sirius couldn’t be any more different, you thought.
“regulus black.” he nodded stiffly to bellatrix, who didn’t seem particularly pleased with his presence either. “slytherin. seeker.” regulus was sharp and pointed; he clearly didn’t want to be there. bellatrix elbowed him roughly and he kept a straight face before opening his mouth once more. “...pureblood.”
“severus snape, pureblood, slytherin, potions.”
“emmaline vance; ravenclaw. i’m keen on defense against the dark arts.” she was much more personable than the slytherins.
“i’m pandora sailstream, also ravenclaw… and i like charms.”
“yazmin patil, nice to meet you all. hufflepuff, herbology.”
you glanced nervously at james and lily. the air in the room was strained, not just from slughorn’s pushiness, but from the obvious division of blood supremacists and their disapproving counterparts.
“i’m y/n y/l/n, gryffindor house, and i… am good at potions.” snape looked at you strangely, and it was then you were certain he had meant for you to see the book and his annotations. you looked away. the situation was too delicate to be handled without deep rumination, and you absolutely could not let your emotions get the best of you tonight.
“i’m james potter, a proud gryffindor,” he grinned, “chaser of the century and a dab hand at transfiguration.” a couple of the students and adults laughed weakly, but slughorn slapped the table approvingly.
“very good, my boy! and one more.”
“lily evans, muggleborn, gryffindor house, potions.” you winced. today was possibly the worst night for lily to be open about her pride in blood heritage. you admired her for it, and you were proud of being muggleborn in a time where blood supremacist ideology was rampant, but you knew when to pick your fights. the ice was too thin and stakes too high for her to be bold.
“wonderful!” slughorn lauded. he snapped his hands, summoning a squadron of house elves bearing a variety of classy finger foods, indulgent steaks, colorful vegetables, and rich desserts.
the food seemed to lightened the mood, and slughorn looked pleased at the turn of events. already, the guest wizards and witches began approaching students with business cards or advice. the row of three slytherins seemed to be the most popular.
james was quickly swept away by a quidditch team manager who’d recognized james even before his introduction. he winked at you before abandoning you altogether. it was just you, lily, and pandora left. you and pandora had awkward introductions and lily had made a controversial comment, so you didn’t take the disinterest personally. pandora seemed to, however. she left her spot at the table and slipped into james’ old seat, immediately diving into a passionate rant.
lily, always the caring one, entertained her. you tried to pay attention, but her complaints seemed so trivial in comparison to what had transpired in your dorm mere hours ago. snape was wrapping up his conversation, and when he glanced over at you, your eyes were already fixed on his face with burning intensity.
he stalked toward you, the most confident you’d ever seen him, and took the empty seat to your other side. he leered, somehow managing to make himself tower over you even while seated. you glared but didn’t dare speak.
“i believe you have something of mine,” he muttered, watching your face for any revealing expression, so you clenched your jaw.
“do i?”
“you do,” he said cooly. “but, because of my kindness, i won’t be upset with you for stealing my property.”
you ran your tongue across your top row of teeth, fuming. “i don’t know what you want from me, snape, but let me just say-”
“what makes you think i want anything from you?” he raised his eyebrows. “you can keep the book, if you’d like. i’ve read it plenty of times.”
you exhaled gruffly. “i know a threat when i see one, snape. don’t play dumb.” oh, how you wanted to tear him apart like slughorn’s pulled pork.
“threats… threats? it sounds like you’re the one threatening me.” he waved a hand between the two of you and you realized how close in proximity you had become. with each exchange, you’d slowly inched closer to assert dominance. now, you were hovering just in front of his greasy, malevolent face.
snape sneered. “i’d watch what you say, if i were you. see, i just want you to be safe. there are real bad people out there; you never know what might happen to a little girl like you… or a half-breed.”
“keep him out of this,” you spat. “torment me however you want, but you stay out of his damn business, do you understand?”
“are you really so naive?” snape scoffed patronizingly. “you think you’re gonna to protect your filthy half-breed boyfriend with an ultimatum? don’t forget who’s dealing the cards, mudblood.”
you closed your eyes, refusing to let tears fall. snape pulled back, smug, and wandered off into the safety of the slytherin crowd.
you jumped, startled by the feeling of a hand grabbing your forearm. “james? what are you doing?” you hissed.
“what are you doing?” james retorted, narrowing his eyes at you. “i think we need to talk.”
james tightened his grip on you and pulled you from the room, excusing the both of you to the bathroom. he dragged you down the corridor and out of earshot.
“what the hell is wrong with you?” james flung his arms out and they fell against his sides.
you scowled, crossing your arms. “with me? you’’re the one who forced me out of a party and now you’re yelling at me for no reason!”
“oh, there’s a reason,” james laughed sardonically, “snivelus. what the fuck was that?”
you stared at him in disbelief. “i- i don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“why were you talking to snivelus? you were so- is there something going on between you?” james was enraged, pacing the corridor as his face began to flush.
“excuse me?” you screeched. “what the fuck?”
“i don’t bloody know!” james ripped his glasses from his face and rubbed his eyes aggressively. “i thought you and r- merlin, you said he was ‘nice’ during potions and now you’re sitting next to him; talking to him!”
“i can’t believe you’re accusing me of associating with a fucking blood supremacist,” you snarled, storming up to him and jabbing your finger into his chest accusingly. “i’m a muggleborn, if you’ve somehow forgotten! what the fuck is wrong with you, pr- james?”
“you were this close to each other!” he used his fingers to demonstrate. “you- you’re all cozied up to him! you’re fucking intimate with him!”
if you weren’t standing outside a room full of powerful wizards, you would’ve hexed james, right then and there. you settled for shoving him. his chest, hardened and broad from quidditch, barely budged at your force.
“you know what? fuck you, james. stay out of my damn business!”
james didn’t bother following you as you stomped away from him and to the common room, tears finally escaping your eyes. dorcas’ work must’ve been ruined. you wiped your cheeks to find black mascara staining your fingers, and you were sure your lipstick was a mess after so much screaming and anxious biting. you snuck a peek at your reflection in a window. your face was puffy, your eyelids were drooping, and you looked—to put it succinctly—pathetic.
the fat lady pouted at you sympathetically as you slumped through the portrait hole. your tears had long stopped and were now soaking into your skin, pulling your cheeks taunt as the salt dried. you stumbled, catching yourself on the back of a couch just before you were about to collapse. you hadn’t eaten dinner, you’d cried out all the hydration from your body, and on top of that, you were still reeling from not only your argument with james, but snape’s threats and the discovery of his book.
and now you were alone. you were completely and utterly alone, slumped half-concious in an silent common room late at night while your friends were sleeping comfortably or enjoying the lavishness of slughorn’s party.
you had no more water in your system to cry out; instead, you began hiccuping and heaving. your throat was dry and you were sure that this was it, that you would stop breathing and pass out where you stood. what a sad way to go. what a sad, sorry excuse you were for a witch. what a cowardly, useless gryffindor you were, such an unlovable-
“bunny?” remus’ voice was gravelly from sleepiness but laced with concern.
“remus?” you struggled to keep your eyes open, wanting nothing more than to escape into a peaceful, dreamless sleep. “why are you still awake?”
“well, i promised i’d stay up for you, right?” he stumbled down the stairs, his long legs slightly unstable. in a blink, remus was behind you and wrapping you in his arms, burying his nose into your hair and mumbling intelligiblely about what you assumed was meant to be comforting.
he dropped his lips to your ear. “what happened?” he murmured. he seemed to have sobered up; his voice was much clearer than before.
“i don’t- everything, rem,” you whimpered. “i can’t. i can’t.”
he cooed, turning you to face him by the shoulders. his face fell at the sight of you—hair mussed, eyes glistening red, bottom lip tucked between your teeth so harshly he thought for sure you’d hurt yourself. he raised his hand to cup your cheek, but froze midair. “love. love? is it okay if i touch you?”
you nodded silently, wrapping your arms around your waist and fighting the urge to start full-body trembling. your eyes fell closed, and you weren’t sure if you had the energy to open them.
remus’ hand finally came to your cheek, freeing your lip from your teech before nesting itself between your jawline. his thumb rested just below your eye, gently swiping at the remnants of the mascara you’d cried off.
“alright, why don’t we sit down? you’re lookin’ a little shaky there, bun.” he moved his hand from your face and pressed it to the small of your back, guiding you to the couch with his other hand in yours for support. eyes still closed, you stumbled slightly on the edge of the carpet, and he caught you, bringing you closer to him and rubbing your back soothingly. you shivered.
“are you cold?” remus’ forehead creased. without hesitation, he began to peel off his jumper and held it out to you. “here, you need to stay warm.”
“thanks,” you mumbled. in reality, you’d shivered because of remus’ touch. but you weren’t about to turn down his jumper. “can y’help?”
remus took the jumper back, opening it up and pulling it over your head. he even guided your arms into the sleeves, and your mouth twitched upwards at his smell: parchment, something woodsy, and a hint of spice. oh, and chocolate. chocolate?
“would you like chocolate?” remus a bar between you and broke off a piece.
you finally smiled, allowing your eyes to flicker open. “yeah.” you opened your mouth.
remus stared at you quizzically before his eyes widened. in the dimness of the common room, you couldn’t see his reaction, but you felt him turn away from you momentarily. when he returned his attention to you, he exhaled shakily and placed the square of chocolate on your tongue delicately, watching as you took it in your mouth. he gulped.
“thanks, rem.”
“yeah. yeah, anytime. i’m always going to be here for you, y’know that right? i know that you don’t really like talking about… your-”
“my feelings, yeah. i just feel silly. ‘cos you’re going through so much, and so is sirius, and lily too, and i just… i don’t wanna waste your time,” you confessed.
remus took hold of your biceps and swiveled your torso so you were facing him. “you are not a waste of time. it doesn’t matter how big or small—your feelings are important. and you’ve never once said that me or sirius or lily’s feelings are a waste of time, so why do you think that about yourself?”
you sniffed. “i dunno. but now i feel everything, rem. ‘s all there. i feel like i’m gonna vomit. not really, but fuck, it’s so much. it’s so, so much.”
remus hummed, wrapping his arm around the back of your head and bringing your forehead to his chest. you breathed in his cologne once more, feeling his scent wash through your body as if it were cleansing you of the brain fog.
after a stretch of silence, remus spoke. “do you wanna talk about it or just sit here with me?”
“talk.” you didn’t hesitate or fight yourself, and remus just wanted to kiss you; he was so proud.
“alright, i’m listening.”
you couldn’t find it in yourself to make eye contact. instead, you shuffled forward, tucking yourself fully into his chest and wrapping your legs around his back. your arms curled under his and joined themselves at the top of his spine. you felt like a koala, and you were okay with that.
you managed to squeeze out the details of your fight with james. remus’ grip tightened protectively as you explained why james had made his assumption, describing the way snape had gotten so close to you. he stiffened at the word “intimate,” and then you were the one rubbing his back. for the first time, you let yourself pour everything out. you didn’t hold anything back; well, except for the reason snape had confronted you in the first place.
remus’ nose twitched as he tried to regain his composure. he was pissed at james—how dare he accuse you of being intimate with a blood supremacist? you were the kindest, most loyal, boldest, best person he know. remus wasn’t sure if he was more upset with snape or james.
he felt you shake in his arms and began rubbing more warmth into you. he sighed, unable to stop replaying the scene of you and snape and james; each reset was a new stab. “hey.” he tilted your head upwards. “hey, look at me. it’s gonna be okay. everybody argues.”
his words of reassurance seemed to push you further away. “n- no, you don’t understand,” you choked, “i can’t fix this one. i can’t-  rem, i messed up. merlin, i’ve messed up really, really badly and i don’t think i can fix this. i don’t know what’s going on. i don’t know what’s gonna happen. i’m scared. damn it, i’m scared, remus.”
remus clenched and unclenched his jaw. “it’s late, bunny. maybe we should think about this in the morning, when you’ve got some food in ‘ya and a bit of coffee. d’you wanna go back to your room?”
“no please,” you whispered. “can- can you stay with me? just this once. please.”
every shred of remus’ restraint collapsed at your words, and he swept you into your arms and peppered kisses to your hairline. “i’m here, okay? i’m not gonna leave you.” he coaxed you into a laying position, crouching on his knees in front of you so he could brush the hair from your face.
“remus?” you slurred, cracking your eyes open. “will you hold me?”
he pulled his lips into a downward smile; empathetic eyes wandering your body. he curled himself behind you, pulling your back into his chest and lacing his legs between yours, tucking his nose into the crook of your neck. you felt around for his hand, and when you found it, you pulled it over your body and towards your face. remus felt something soft tickle his palm.
kisses. you were kissing him.
“thank you, remus,” you muttered, voice timid.
“always.”

Rivalry: Chapter One
[masterlist][Ch2]
Regulus Black x Fem!reader
Mutual Pining and Academic Rivals are like my favorites so I’m throwing them together for Reggie🤭
I wanna try a slowburn, so this series will have some short parts that i can update easily between parts of Caught because I hate just not uploading for so long at a time. Fair warning I am going to include a bit of a love triangle later on(there will be NO cheating).
Warnings:Arguing,Language,Angst, Pining, Rivals, “Enemies” to lovers.
You and Regulus never liked each other. Actually, a good way to put it would be to say you hated eachother. But for some reason you were always clouding the brunette’s mind, even when you were yelling back and forth in an empty corridor he absolutely loved it. And despised that he loved it.
Despite the years he spent wanting nothing more than to one up you in any situation, suddenly every time your eyebrows furrowed at him as you began an argument, he’d imagine those eyebrows furrowing below him behind the curtains of his four poster bed. He thought at first it was simply because of your beauty that he was lusting after you, but after months of patrolling the corridors together as Prefects, he came to realize he genuinely liked your presence. Whether you were silent or bickering or yelling, he didn’t mind.
He denied those feelings for as long as possible, deciding instead to observe you from afar, acting as though he hated you while at the same time ensuring you were stuck with him as a partner in every class and during all Prefect duties. He didn’t understand why he shooed away every thought of you or hid his true feelings up until the last possible second, but he was a fool and a coward, he already knew that. As your seventh and final year at Hogwarts began, it dawned on Regulus that he’d likely never see you again once the year ended, making the dreadfully long school year suddenly seem far too short.
He could no longer deny he felt something real for you as he stood in the corner of the Slytherin common room, seething while he watched you dance against Barty Crouch Jr. The welcome back party was in full swing as you enjoyed yourself before you inevitably needed to become an image of responsibility.
You could feel his eyes on you, you could always feel his eyes on you. Almost immediately after you and Regulus became Prefects in your fifth year, it became increasingly difficult to avoid spending time with him. Though secretly you weren’t complaining, you’d always imagine what it would be like if he wasn’t so closed off. He was down right mean to you at times, and yet he clouded your thoughts all the same.
You always found yourself locking eyes with him in class, cursing yourself as you rolled your eyes away from his. You hated that you felt the way you did, but honestly you hated that he didn’t feel the same much more. This time, as your eyes locked, there was something new behind his irises. Something you never would have expected only two years earlier, jealousy.
You knew it couldn’t be a good idea, but after plying yourself with copious amounts of liquor you didn’t mind making a few bad decisions. You winked at Regulus’, biting your lip and making him go rigged in the corner before you turned yourself in Barty’s arms and captured his lips in yours.
Regulus wasn’t a jealous person, he’d accepted long ago that any girl wanting a member of the Noble House of Black would simply run to his brother, but you never did. You never even seemed the tiniest bit interested in Sirius, or anyone else for that matter. Maybe thats why it was so easy to stay calm all these years, his girl never seemed to have eyes for anyone. Until now. He never would have imagined the pure rage he felt as he stormed through the party, yanking you off Barty as you smiled drunkenly up at him with swollen lips.
“Come on, we have a project in Potions tomorrow and you can’t be hungover, I won’t be failing,” Before you could register what was happening he was pulling you down the stairs as you stumbled after him to the girls dormitory. To your surprise he immediately distinguished your dorm from the others and pulled you inside.
He dropped your wrist as he grumbled to himself, walking to your dresser and pulling out one of your oversized t-shirts and a pair of leggings, “Take these, get out of that dress, and go to bed.” He demanded in a stern voice.
“But I wanna go back to the partyyy” You practically whined in a beg, too drunk to care about the boy standing in your room with a glare.
“You can barely stand y/l/n, I am not letting you back into that party like this.” He grumbled as he shoved the clothes into your hands, turning away as you eyed the back of his head.
“Come on Reggie, let lose, you don’t always have to be the golden boy,” You teased as you began to remove the straps of your dress and shimmy it down your body.
“What did you just call me?” He snapped, turning around without thinking, his cheeks growing a bright red upon seeing your slightly exposed bra as you struggled to remove your dress in your drunken state. He quickly swiveled back around as you huffed and puffed with slurred statements of “stupid thing” and “tight ass dress” making him chuckle.
“Help me out here Reggie,” You sighed, dropping your hands to your sides with a slap as he arched his eyebrows at the wall in front if him, turning to see your dress halfway down your body as you stared up at him with hooded eyes.
“Um okay,” He mumbled as he moved to stand behind you, keeping his eyes upward as he gently pulled the zipper down with a soft chuckle, “It would be a lot easier if you unzipped it,”
“Yeah yeah,” You grumbled as you pushed the dress off of you without a warning, showing him your underwear that didn’t match your bra. He felt like all the oxygen was escaping his body as he watched you struggle to put on the shirt he picked out, your head popping out of the neckline with messy hair before you were hopping onto your bed, disregarding the leggings on the floor.
You yawned once, and then fell into a deep sleep as Regulus stood, shell shocked in front of your bed. For some reason he felt rather creepy being alone in your room hovering over your bed despite his very wholesome intentions. He neatly closed the curtains around your four poster and left a full glass of water on your bedside table before blowing out your candles and slipping out the door.
The next morning when you woke, you had absolutely no clue how you got to your room, or out of your clothes and into knew ones. The last thing you could remember clearly was getting your sixth, or maybe seventh?, cup of punch before dancing with Barty.
“Uh Black, can we talk?” You asked in a shaky voice as his friends eyed you up suspiciously, “It’s really important,” As Regulus took in your disheveled appearance and worried face he mumbled a later to his friends and directed you to a rather quiet section of the corridor before turning back to you.
“Did we….y’know….do anything last night?” You rushed out without meeting his eyes as you stood in front of him, bouncing nervously. “I just….I barely remember anything and….and Barty said….” You stopped, not wanting to believe nor accuse him of what Barty had suspected.
“You think I did something to you while you were drunk?” He asked in a soft voice as he watched your watery eyes meet his. He was hurt, for the first time in a long time he was hurt. “I didn’t. I helped you to bed, got you some water, and left. That’s it.”
You let out an audible sigh as tears slipped past your lashes, “Thank you, I-i was so messed up last night, I don’t wanna think about what could have happened if…” Regulus watched you with a mix of relief and annoyance, you had just almost accused him of the same thing you were now thanking him for preventing?
“You’re lucky y/l/n. Because guess what, Barty was the one all over you last night when you could barely walk properly, I’m sure he jumped to tell you how I pulled you away from him. You could have just come to me, y’know.” He scoffed as he walked past you and into Potions class taking the seat next to yours as you followed suit.
“I didn’t believe him Black, but I had to ask okay?” You whisper shouted as everyone began taking their seats around you.
“If you had to ask than part of you thought I was capable of that.” He said, eyes focused upfront as you watched the side of his face. His jaw clenched so tight you could see the muscle protruding on the side of his cheeks.
“I’m sorry Regulus, you may be a git sometimes but I don’t think you’re a monster.” You whispered as you pushed your chair closer to his.
“I don’t care what you think of me and I dont need your apology” He snapped, making you flinch and jump back as he turned to look at you. His eyes softened as regret began seeping into his stomach at the sight of you scared in front of him.
You looked away from him as soon as you felt your eyes begin to water, focusing solely on Professor Slughorn as Regulus tried to apologize beside you, something that shocked you greatly but didn’t make you waver.
“Just look at me,” He whispered, ignoring his notes entirely and looking only at you. “Come on, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare y-“
“Oh my gods just shut the fuck up!” You shouted, silencing Slughorn and drawing the attention of every student around you as you went red from embarrassment.
“Care to fill us in on your conversation Miss. y/l/n? Mr. Black?” Slughorn’s voice was calm bit stern as you both shook your heads and mumbled “no”.
“Well, you can pick it up in detention tonight then” He said with a tight lipped smile as he turned back to his notes on the blackboard. You dropped your forehead onto the table with a sigh as Regulus watched you with narrowed eyes.
After dinner you slipped out of the Great Hall undetected, fully intending to run to the library and “study” through your detention. Being a teacher’s pet came with some perks after all.
“I knew you’d be here,” Regulus chuckled as you approached the door he was now leant against. “Come on, we have detention little miss perfect….or did you intentionally plan to avoid me?” His smirk was so annoying you would risk another detention just to smack it off if it weren’t for your lack of any movable muscle as his eyes bore into yours.
“Slughorn wants us to clean Professor Binns’ class since he never does.” You eyed him suspiciously as he waited for you to walk in front of him, “Well go on then you little liar, can’t trust ya now can I?” He chuckled triumphantly at your eyes rolling as you walked past him towards the History of Magic classroom.
Regulus shamelessly watched you as you walked in front of him, deciding you were his whether you realized it yet or not. He’s never had a reason to defy anyone before, but as he watched your hair bouncing behind you and your cloak moving in the breeze giving him glimpses of your legs below. He knew you were the girl he’d marry, whether his Mother was okay with it or not, he’d either die alone or marry the beautiful girl in front of him.

Prequel of The American: Welcome Back! -click to read
Summary: Entering their 5th year, Remus and his friends are told of a new student coming to Hogwarts. While dealing with problems of his own, Remus can't help but notice the new transfer student from America.
Warning: slow burn, bullying, issues of self esteem, suicidal thoughts, xenophobia against reader, name calling, the word mud blood is used a lot, very dark content.
A/N:I haven't read the books but I have seen the movies and read a shit ton of fanfic. I'm making stuff up as we go so my plot can work. There are some characters that I thought were real but where made up for fanfics. I hope people don't mind if i add them because i already wrote the chapter. I later found out while googling stuff abt The Marauders. I will be added them and other characters to my story with my own twist. With that being said, don't come for me if this character is doing this and that. Not sure how many chapters I'll be doing, really depends on the feedback. please read the tags before reading. Enjoy -L

Remus found himself staring at the tracks in front of him. His eyes studied the nails and the iron bars of the train tracks. He can hear the horns of the Hogwarts Express blasting indicating it’s near. It drowns out the sounds of the students and their families around him. He looks at the red and black train coming and Remus takes a step forward.
Remus has thought of this a lot before, stepping in front of a train. Trains, buses and cars. Just one leap and it will be over. His fingers tighten over the straps of his bag over his shoulder as he thinks about it more.
A quick death, what a wonderful relief.
He hates having a full moon in the summer when he is away from Hogwarts. He didn’t have any of his friends during that time. They were off on vacation or doing activities with their families and Remus doesn’t have the heart to ask them to come over. His friends have done so much for him. He’s afraid of asking for too much and they will leave him for it. He doesn’t want to be alone.
Remus takes another step forward getting a bit closer to the edge and as he looks ahead. His mouth slightly dropped open when he saw a man standing on the other side of the tracks staring back at him. The man stood there bloody, throat ripped open, slashes across his face and chest. Blood was gushing out from the man’s wound. He wore dark blue trousers and a white ripped collar shirt. The man lifted his hand towards Remus, reaching for him. With his finger, he pointed at Remus as blood dripped down from it. Remus feels the bile coming up his throat when the man try to open his mouth to speak. Blood came pouring out from his mouth and Remus stands there frozen in fear. Remus doesn't see a flash of red running towards him.
“Remus!” He feels a force come at him making him take a step back from the edge of the platform. The train approaches, hiding him away from the bloody man. He felt Lily hug him and Remus shut his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her pulling her into a tight hug. He missed her so much this summer. He didn’t visited her like usual. He couldn’t. He was ashamed of himself. He tries to get rid of the sight of the man he just saw, he continues to hug her. Lily rubbed his back when Remus didn't pull right away.
Lily Evans, was the first friend he made when he came to Hogwarts. She was the first to realize what he was and she was the first to not make him feel bad for being a werewolf. As times passed he was welcome into a group of three boys. They didn’t make him feel bad as well, they had even helped him by becoming animagus and stayed with him through his transformations.
“You haven’t written back to me all summer.” Lily said when they pulled away. The students around them started boarding into the train.
“Forgive me, Lils. Rough summer is all.” Remus said as he grabbed his luggage by his feet along with Lily’s. She gave him a thanks and he just nodded. He wasn’t going to allow her to carry the heavy thing.
Lily and Remus greeted the other students in their year as they walked to their usual compartment. Remus with ease placed the luggage on the top shelf as Lily sat down. Remus sat down with a huff beside her, next to the window, his favorite spot. Lily opened her beige shoulder bag and took out a brown lunch paper bag with the letter R written on it.
“Mom, send you a snack.” Remus smiles as he grabs it from Lily.
“She’s a saint.” Remus said as he opened it, taking a look inside. In separate plastic bags, he saw there were slices of green apples and a jam sandwich cut diagonally. There was even a small juice box.
“Green apple, my favorite.” He comments.
“Ugh, she likes you more than me.” Lily pulled out a bag of baby carrots instead of apples like him. Lily’s mom knew of Remus, he would visit Lily sometimes during break and the summer. Lily’s mom was always happy to see him and even called him a son at one point when he always offered to take out the trash or wash the dishes. Remus thought it was the least he could do since they had him over for dinners. Petunia wasn’t really fond of him, but he didn’t mind her. He ignored the names being aimed at him when he sat across from her during dinner.
Remus chuckles at Lily then he takes the bag of apples out. “I’ll trade.”
“You would really do that for me?” She asked him with a pout.
“Hurry, before I change my mind!” Lily laughs and gives him the bag of baby carrots as she gets the bag of apples.
Remus drops the baby carrots into his brown paper bag, saving them for later. He looked over at Lily when he noticed what she was holding out. He gives her a smile and grabs the slice of apple from her hand.
Quickly putting it in his mouth,  he hummed at the sweetness of the apple as he chewed. Lily frowned and stopped mid-bite when she noticed Remus looking out the window. His eyes roaming quickly on the other side of the platform.
“Looking for someone?” Lily asked and Remus looked over at her. He shook his head, telling her nobody.
Lily is eating when Sirius and James come walking in. Remus rises up from his seat to greet his friends. Lily does the same. Remus helps Sirius with his luggage as James sits next to Lily by the door. Sirius sits across from Remus.
He’s listening to Sirius ramble on about his summer, it was another horrid one. His mother had gone mad about tradition with the family. He was a disgrace for being a Gryffindor, but he was even more of a disgrace to his family when they found out Sirius doesn’t agree with the pureblood ideas. James and Lily are talking amongst themselves. Remus and Sirius just gave each a look, James was finally getting on Lily’s good side.
Sirius hits Remus' shoes with his elbow that rested next to him. Remus had quite a growth spurt last year. He had his leg resting on the seat across from him.
“How was your summer, mate?! I sent you a letter, you know?” Sirius' cheeks grow pink and Remus notices it.
“I’m sorry. I did receive it. I had a hard time answering back. Last moon was draining.” Sirius nods at him, understandingly.
“Are you okay now?” He asks Remus. Sirius notices something odd with Remus when he doesn't answer right away. He didn’t like it one bit. Remus was usually cheerful whenever they came back to school.
“Yes, Padfoot.” Remus answers as he leans his head against the window. Sirius decides to not push it and asks Remus about a book he was reading before summer break. He smiles when he sees Remus' whole demeanor change, Remus sat up and excitedly told him about it. The train lets out another sound and a few seconds later. The train began to move then after a few more conversations about Lily and James’ summer. One by one they started to doze off.
Remus was sleeping with his head against the window. His body jiggled softly as the train kept on moving. He scratches his nose when he feels an itch in his sleep. Inhaling deeply, Remus’ eyes shot open when a scent hit him. The scent is new, it didn’t come from his friends. Remus felt a chill down his back, it was a strange feeling. He doesn’t know why he’s smelling it, the full moon has passed already. Why is the lycanthropy still residing in him?  Sitting up straight, he looks over at his friends. They are still sleeping, he wonders why Peter isn’t here. They have been taking the same spot in the train for five years now, so Peter couldn’t be lost in finding them.
Remus felt his throat close up when the smell hit him again. He rose up from his seat, taking another sniff in the air.  He noticed the door was a bit open. He figured it was Sirius who usually forgets to latch the lock whenever coming back from the restroom.
Remus decides to go to the bathroom and wash his face. He figured he was smelling things because he had a rough summer. He was barely sleeping at home. The nap on the train was the best sleep he had all summer. He shuts the door behind him then looks up and down the hall, it’s empty. The lights of the hallway were lit up, he saw most of the other people had pulled down the curtains for privacy as he walked to the restroom. Remus yawns as he walks inside the restroom and turns on the light. Rubbing his eyes he steps in front of the toilet to relieve himself. Letting out a small moan when finished urinating, he turns his head to the door. That fucking smell is there, he quickly walks to the door. He presses his forehead against it. Remus inhales the scent, it's on the wooden door.
The scent of copper, the scent of a girl.
Remus doesn’t realize at first but he breathes heavily, his forehead is pressed against the door as his right hand touches his chest and drops down to his lower stomach. He fist the sweater he wore on top of his uniform in his hand as he sniffs harder. When his fingers hits the zipper of his trouser, the urge to touch himself came over him. His eyes shot open and he quickly stepped away from the door. He stared at it, scared. This has never happened to him before. A scent that was making him horny, it was new to him.
Remus knows this isn’t him, this has to be Moony. The wolf that resides in him. Moony should be gone by now but he isn’t. He leans against the wall of the bathroom and let's out a sigh. He shook his head as he looked down at his hands, he shut his eyes when he remembered how his hands looked with all that blood. He looks ahead at the mirror and whines when the background changes. He saw himself back again in the woods behind his house.
“Stop it.” He hissed to himself as he looked away and started to push the button of the soap dispenser on the wall.
Turning the hot water all the way up. He ignored the heat of the water as he washed his hands until it was pink and raw.  He kept telling himself, he had to scrub it away, wash the blood away. He looks ahead at the mirror and stares at himself. His eyes are staring at the new scar on his face. He hates his appearance, despises it. It’s just a constant reminder of what he is, a monster. His friends tell him differently but Remus knows he’s one. He truly is especially after what he did.
Running his fingers through his hair, damping his sandy brown curls before turning off the light, he walks out of the bathroom. The hallway is still empty, he shuts the door and starts to walk back when he smells it again. His chest started to feel tight and he bit his bottom lip as he turned to face the other side of the hallway.
He’s staring down the hall and he can smell it again.
“Fuck.” He murmured when he saw that part of the train, usually students of House Slytherin, sits in. He steps forward carefully as he looks to the left. Most of the train compartments had the curtains drawn down, he stopped when one of the doors was slightly open. He guessed whoever was in there forgot to use the lock.
‘Another Sirius.’ Remus tells himself as he looks inside. He sees a figure sleeping on the cushion seats, a leg hanging out. He frowns when he notices they wore jeans and sneakers. The person wasn't in uniform like them. Remus hears laughter further down the hall and quickly goes back. Last thing he wants to do is come face to face with a Slytherin. Making it back to his seat, he gently sat back down to not disturbed Lily who was leaning against James. He grabs the brown lunch bag Lily’s mom made for him.
Remus quietly eats his sandwich as he stares out the window, watching the scenery. He never gets tired looking at the mountains and lakes as the train makes its way to Hogwarts.
Shelley Mumps was the one who woke everyone the following morning. Remus had dozed off after eating his sandwich. He jumped out of his sleep when Shelley slid the door open with such force.
“What happened?” James said in a sleepy voice as she shut the door and sat beside Sirius waking him up.
“There's a transfer student. She's in our year.” Shelley said, looking at them.
“Cool, can we go back to sleep?” Sirius said getting himself comfortable again against the wall.
"She's American.” She added. Remus frowns. “They allow Americans in Hogwarts?” He questioned.
“ Apparently because she’s here. Some of us saw her walking down the hallway. She was staring out the window. You should have seen the clothes she was wearing.” Shelley laughs and Remus looks away from her.
Lily just sighs at her friend. “What do you mean by that, Shelley?”
“She had ripped holes in her jeans and her shoes looked dirty. She had this shirt with this ugly green army jacket. She looks homeless.”  Sirius was awake now and looked at Remus who kept quiet and stared out the window.
“I'm sure, it wasn't that bad.” James said, clearing his throat as he sat up straight in his seat.
“Oh please. The train is stopping soon. You’ll see her.” Shelley said before waving bye at them.
“Tell me why you are still friends with her?” Remus asks softly, looking over at Lily.
“I have too, I share a dormitory with her.” Lily said, grabbing her bag as they felt the train stopped.
They quickly got up and started to get their belongings. The students lined up and walked out the train. “Let's see if we can catch a glimpse of this girl.” Sirius tells Remus and James as Lily waved bye at them to find her other friends.
Remus walked behind them as they walked to the waiting carriages. Leaving their trunks and luggage behind, they sat down. Remus looks around but has no luck in finding this ‘homeless girl.’ The carriages make it to the gates and they step down to walk towards the school, it was a five minute walk.
“Peter!” James exclaimed and Remus looked over to see his friend walking towards them.
“I missed the bloody train! My parents were furious. They had to drop me off.” Peter said with a sigh. Sirius and Remus shook their heads, Peter had a tendency of being late. They welcomed Peter with a hug.
“Did you hear the news?” Sirius asked.
Peter rolled his eyes. “Yeah, Shelley gave me the full details on the new girl.”
They walked together to the castle when they noticed a group of students standing by.
“Oi!” James yells and a Ravenclaw boy, named Hems in their year, turns around. “What's going on?”
“The American is with Hagrid.” Hems tells them as they get closer. Remus looked ahead to see.
“Is she daft? What's she petting?” Remus hears another student ask.
“Her name is-.” Someone said your name and Remus thinks it’s a nice name. He continues to look at you, trying to get a good look at your face.
He can see Hagrid talking to you with a smile as you kept petting at the air but Remus can see the thestral you were petting. He could see its leathery wings flap for a second before circling around you making you giggle. Shelley was blowing your appearance out of proportion but it was exactly what he expected from a pureblood. He looks at you and he thinks your smile is pretty, that's what he noticed first about you. He looks at your clothes. You look casual. You look like a regular muggle, it reminded him of the outfit Sirius usually wears whenever going out to a muggle place. The green army jacket is a bit big on you. You wore a black shirt and blue ripped jeans.
The thestral rubbed its head against your bookbag, you wore and Hagrid shooed the thestral away from you when it started to nibble on your bag making you laugh loudly.
“What is she laughing at?” A student asked loudly.
“You idiot, it's thestral.” Remus looks over and notices Severus with a group of Slytherins standing by. He was glaring at you as he answered. Remus noticed Hagrid leaning down to tell you something. You turn to face them and Remus sees your face for a second. Your eyes widened by the sight of them and quickly looked away before he could get a good look at you.
“Two galleons, I’ll have her in bed by the end of the week.” Remus noticed an older student from House Ravenclaw speak out. Remus rolls his eyes when the group of students around him starts to snicker and begin to place their bets on you. He watches you walk away with Hagrid towards the school.
“James? Sirius?” The guy said, looking over at them.
“No, mate. I’m good.” James said before signaling his friends to keep walking. Remus doesn't want any part of it either.
Sirius stops in mid step when one of them starts to laugh and yells out, “The American probably has diseases. You know they are sluts.”
“15 galleons says she doesn't sleep with you.” Sirius said, making them stop laughing and look at him in disbelief at the amount of money he was placing.
“You're on, Black.”
Remus, James and Peter waited for Sirius to finish when he saw Severus and his friends walking away. James just glared at Severus and the long, dark haired boy did the same to James.
“You really think she won't sleep with him?” Peter asked as they continued to make their way to the castle.
“You have to be Shelley to sleep with them. I doubt she's like her.” Sirius said, shaking his head.
Settling back down in Hogwarts was easy for Remus. He missed his bed and being around his friends. The atmosphere was different from back home. He wasn't alone, in Hogwarts he was surrounded by students, professors, and even ghosts.
Getting ready for dinner, he spoke to Sirius about another book he got. Remus was fond of Sirius and even though they both came from completely different backgrounds. They were best friends. Sirius was the second person to figure out what he was. Remus had cried in front of him when he figured it out. Sirius didn't speak while Remus told him that he would understand if he didn't want to be friends anymore. Sirius just hugged him tightly. Hugged him until he calmed down.
“You’re ridiculous. If you think, I'm going to stop being your best friend, mate.” Sirius spoke out after a few minutes.
‘We’ll figure something out to help you. I promise.”
Remus didn't believe it at first but when James and Peter figured it out he told them the truth. The three managed to become animagi behind his back and showed Remus when they accomplished it. He never felt so accepted before. They supported Remus during his transformations and mood swings when the full moon was near. They accompanied him in their animagi form to the Shrieking Shack then later carried him to Poppy Pomfrey.
He was forever grateful for them. He really was so when he got too deep in his head and started thinking about dying and ending himself. He thinks of them. He thinks of Sirius, Peter, James and Lily. He thinks of his mom as well.
He thinks about the time his mom would bath him when he was too hurt. She would feed him, dress him when he couldn’t move. His mother changed completely during the recent summer. She couldn’t look him in the eye and it broke him. His father who treated him differently already barely said a word.
‘Oi!” Remus was deep in thought when James caught his attention.
“You okay, Moony?” James said, walking towards him. They were in their dorm room, putting their stuff away when James saw Remus laying on the bed with his hands behind his head, staring up at the ceiling.
“Yeah, Prongs.” James nods and sits beside him on the bed. Remus pushes himself up and holds himself by the elbows.
“You know I wrote to you this summer. Like four times.” James said softly as Peter and Sirius were in the bathroom freshening up to go to dinner.
“I know. I just-.” Remus feels James' eyes on him. “I don't know.” Remus lied.
“Everything okay at home?” James whispered in a concerned tone, he knew about his life at home. Remus nods as Peter and Sirius come out of the bathroom laughing about something.
“Ready to eat?” Peter asked as they put on their robes.
“Yes!” Remus said getting out of bed, he looked over his shoulder to meet James' gaze who was still sitting down and staring at him. He did not believe Remus for a second. James drops it because he knows Remus hates being the center of attention so he drops it for now and says yes to Peter.
Remus finds himself looking for you at the great hall but he can’t. He keeps his head down and listens to James and Lily talking in front of them as Sirius is talking with Marlene. Peter is next to him, trying to ignore Shelly who was talking about her summer. He was more interested in what's for dinner.
“Welcome Students! Back for another year with us. I do hope everyone had a good summer.” Remus sighs as he looks down at the empty plate in front of him. The headmaster Dumbledore makes a few announcements about classes and a new teacher who will be teaching D.A.D.A.
“Lastly, it gives me great pleasure to introduce a new student that will be joining us,-.” Dumbledore announces your full name and Remus repeats it in his head. He remembers your smile. It was so genuine, no one smiled like that to thestrals.
“She’s from America, boys and girls. She will be studying with us. I want everyone to give her a warm welcome.” Remus looked up from his plate and looked over at the doors of the hall when it opened. He saw you wearing their uniform on. You stood next to Hagrid who urged you to walk inside.
Remus claps along with his friends as you walk to Dumbledore and McGonagall, who had the sorting hat ready for you.
“She looks like she's going to throw up.” Remus hears a Slytherin ahead of him joke. While you walked up the steps and sat down on the stool, facing everyone. Your eyes were looking down when McGonagall placed the hat on your head.
The sorting hat hums as it rests on top of your head.
“I feel it, young one. Don't you?” Remus saw you looking over at Dumbledore with a frightened look. McGonagall nods at you, easing your worries. You look down at the ground once more and your hands clasped on top of your lap.
“Difficult choice, indeed.” The hat says.
“A fighter!” The sorting hat yells, making everyone whisper.
“A protector!” Remus noticed the look on Dumbledore's face.
“Oh- my, that is-.”  The hall quieted down when the hat stopped in mid sentence.
“I know now! I see it!” The sorting hat crackled loudly.
“Slytherin!” Remus saw you lift your face to look ahead and Remus thought you were the most beautiful person he had ever seen. He took notes of your nose and lips. Your eyes and the way you looked so nervous made him feel bad.
He looked away from you when the hall started to applause. McGonagall was kind enough to show you where the table was. You looked down at your uniform when you noticed the color had changed.
He peeks between Lily and James and sees you picked the farthest empty seat from the table. He can see you take a deep breath as you look at the silverware in front of you when you sit down.
Shelley is sniggering with an older student from Gryffindor who is sitting beside her.
“What's so funny?” James asked. “She probably doesn't know what a fork is? Don't Americans eat with their hands?” The boy asked James.
“That’s fucked up, lad.” Sirius says, eyeing him.
“Look ahead, she's using them just fine.” Lily snaps before looking down to eat her food. Remus looks over and notices you have begun to eat as well. It was quiet after that, Remus ate and only looked over when he took a sip of his juice. They ignore the others who keep making jokes are your expense. They spoke about your hair and how you looked. Some thought you were hot while others thought you were ugly.
Sirius noticed how Remus was quiet. It was pretty normal for Remus to be quiet. Quiet Remus, who only speaks when spoken too but right now it was different. Sirius felt his best friend’s vibe completely off right then and there.
Remus had different sides of him. He can be so quiet then be very cheerful and make jokes. Until the full moon comes, he becomes cranky and snappy. Sirius stabs his chicken with his fork as he looks at Remus. There’s a new scar on his face and Sirius doesn’t have the courage to ask him about it. Especially since he saw how Remus acted when asked why he hadn't responded to his letter. Something must have happened during the summer, Sirius thinks to himself.
He noticed Remus looking over when he took a drink. He followed his gaze and landed on you. Sirius does a double take when he sees his younger brother Regulus walking towards you with his plate in his hands along with his cup.
Regulus flashes you a smile. “Oh fuck!” A Gryffindor from the table whispered.
Regulus sits down across from you. “You ok?” Remus whispers when he sees it.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be? He’s with his kind.” Sirius says to Remus but he doesn’t believe that Sirius can just be okay. Remus knows the complicated relationship that Sirius had with his younger brother.
It was a few minutes later when Regulus and you stood up. Plates are empty and Remus watches as you pick up the empty plate.
“What is she doing?” A boy from the Hufflepuff table behind them says catching their attention and the voices in the hall become quiet.
“Do we have to wash it?” It was a simple question that you asked. Remus gets annoyed at the fact that you get laughed out by the Slytherin table when you ask Regulus.
Regulus shoots them a glare and shakes his head at you before telling you that there was no need. You can leave your plate there and the elves will get it and clean it.
“Elves?” You frowned, and your eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
“Like a Santa's elf?” Remus hasn’t heard the word Santa since he was a kid.
Regulus tilts his head at you, he’s confused now.
“She’s half blood then?” Remus hears the table start throwing ideas of what your blood is.
“What the fuck is a Santa?” Sirius whispered to James then looked at Remus when James shrugged his shoulders.
“Are  you sure that she’s in the right grade if she thinks Santa is real?” Someone asked loudly and people began to laugh.
It had gotten to the point that the laughter behind Remus started to get to him. He didn’t find it funny at all that they were making fun of you. He wondered what did you know about magic, perhaps you didn’t know anything at all. His guess had to be that you were muggle born but he keeps it to himself because if he was right about you being a muggle born then you will have a difficult time, especially in house Slytherin.
He knows what it feels like to be made fun of and he hates it. He gets bullied for his scar face. He gets bullied because he’s quiet. He gets bullied because he’s poor.
He sees Regulus walking out with you from the great hall. He leaves a few minutes after saying he had a headache but he just didn’t want to hear the comments they were making. He decided to go to sleep early that night.
He was glad he had a dreamless sleep. He didn’t dream about the man. It was morning and he saw you again walking with a younger student from your house to the great hall. Remus walks in with Peter and he sighs when he sees Shelly and Marlene there already, eating. He didn’t mind Marlene at all, she was kind and reminded him of the female version of Sirius. She was spunky and played quidditch with James and Sirius.
“Morning, guys.” Remus greets them and sits down. While a Ravenclaw girl ahead of them rises up from her seat and runs to Shelley.
“You won’t believe what I just heard!” The girl said to Shelley.
“The American slept in the bathroom on her first night here. Her roommates are telling everyone. They heard her crying.” Shelley and the girl began to laugh.
Marlene looks at the girls. “I don’t find that funny. She probably misses her home.”
“Oh come on, Marlene.” Shelley said, waving her hand dismissing Marlene’s words.
Before she can say anything James and Lily along with Sirius came in. “Morning.” They greeted their friends.
“I’m not ready for classes.” James sighs as he sits down.
“Guys, Penelope just told me that -.” Remus finally cracks and cuts her off when he slams his hand on the table loudly and looks over at her.
“Would you shut up already? Enough making fun of the new girl.” He said and Shelley grows red from embarrassment of his sudden outburst.
“You feel bad for nasty foreigners?” The Ravenclaw girl, Penelope asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“I feel bad for anyone that has to deal with tossers like the both of you!” Remus said, looking at her and Shelley. He stood up from his seat ignoring James and Sirius calling out for him. He walks out the doors and goes back to his room. He paces around the room, coming to terms on what he just said to Shelly and the other girl. He felt bad for calling them that name but he just got so angry.
How can people make fun of other people suffering, he asks himself. He had lost count on how many times he’s cried himself to sleep during his first year coming to Hogwarts. Being alone and afraid that someone will find out his wolf secret. He checks the clock on the nightstand and notices it's almost time for his first class. He grabs his books from his trunk and hopes he doesn’t see Shelley or the other girl.
He started to grow worried as he walked to class that Lily would be angry at him for calling her friend a wanker. He was surprised when Lily hugged him when they saw each other for the third class of the day.
“I can’t believe her!” Lily told him when she unwrapped her arms from him.
“Don’t tell anymore but sometimes I get homesick. I’m in tears in the tub.” She admits to him.
“You know how I feel about bullies.” Remus tells her and she nods at him knowing all too well about bullies. She was a victim like him, she was bullied heavily in her first year for being a muggle-born and sometimes even now.
When lunch began he was walking with Peter who didn’t say much about the incident and Remus was grateful for it. They talked about their class they had last period. As he walks in he sees you sitting with the same younger student. You were smiling and so was the kid.
The kid had a book open in front of you and Remus smiles at your choice of writing utensil. You were using a pen instead of a quill and you were writing down on a regular notebook instead of parchment paper.
The kid kept talking while you nodded and wrote frantically.
Everything seems to be going well, Shelley had decided to eat with her friend, Penelope at the other table. James and Sirius came soon into the hall talking enthusiastically about quidditch.
“Guys! Guys!” Remus flinched when a group of Hufflepuff students came beside him and stared ahead at the Slytherin table.
Remus looks ahead as well to see what all the fuss is about. Lance, from house Ravenclaw is in his last year and everyone knows him for being a bully. He was pure-blooded so he thought everyone who wasn’t was beneath him. He usually picks on the muggle born and the half bloods from any house. Of course no one interfered because they didn’t want to get bullied as well. Lance’s blue eyes widen as he walks into the great hall and makes his way to the kid sitting across from you.
“He’s such a twat for always picking on Ruben.” The Hufflepuff next to him tells the group.
“Ruben is the kid?” Sirius asks and they all nod as Lance gets behind Ruben and pulls on his hair making him yelp. Remus has never seen someone's eyes grow hard so quickly. The smile you had on disappeared. The hall grows quiet when you stand up from your seat.
“Get the fuck away from him.” It was not usual for Lance to have someone stand up to him. He was caught by surprise from your words.
“What did you say?” Lance said with a disbelief chuckle.
“Get. The. Fuck. Away. From. Him.” The great hall is quiet and Remus noticed a few teachers had risen up from their seats when they noticed what was going on.
“What’s going on here?” McGonagall had walked towards the table and stared at Lance then at you.
“Nothing, Professor McGonagall. Just having a chat with my friend Ruben.” Lance said, taking a step back while still staring at you.
Ruben was almost in tears by the whole thing. Professor McGonagall walks Lance back to his table.
“She just placed a death mark on herself.” One of the Hufflepuff near Remus said, shaking his head. Lance was staring daggers at you and you kept your eyes on him showing no fear, just hate. You didn’t take your eyes away from him until he sat down and spoke with his friends.
“You might just win your bet. She got balls.” James says, turning back around to Sirius who turned as well to continue on with his meal.
“What bet?” Lily asked the boys and they got quiet real fast. James being whipped for Lily ratted them out and she shook her head, telling Sirius how horrible that is.
“I betted that she won't sleep with anyone, Lily!” The redhead girl shook her head as Marlene copied her. Remus kept silent as he glanced over the table and saw you grabbing Ruben’s bag. You and the kid started to walk out of the great hall after collecting your things.
He was surprised when he saw you walking inside the classroom. You were a few minutes late for charms class. The professor grabbed the slip from your hands and pointed at an empty seat in the back. Remus almost drops the quill in his hand as you pass him to sit on his row. Remus usually stayed in the back because he was tall. A Hufflepuff girl, Nancy sat in the middle between you and him.
In the corner of his eyes he noticed you had taken out the same book as before and a pen.
The Charm professor called out your name as he walked towards you. The student laughed when he told you that there is no pen and notebooks allowed only quill and parchment paper.
“I’m sorry. Mr. Robinson. I‘m still learning how to use the feather thing.” You told him, looking up at him.
“First, it’s called a quill and you're a witch now so you better start learning fast how to use it. Second of all, it’s Professor Robinson. Things are different here, Miss.”
“Yes, Professor Robinson.” Remus looks away by the tone of your voice. You sounded so defeated. Professor Robinson walks away and continues with his lesson. Nancy leans over to you when you grab the quill from your bag and the ink.
“Hold it like this.” She whispered to you showing you how to handle your quill properly.
Remus goes back to write his notes, he hoped you realize not everyone in this school were mean. There were some students who were kind. Throughout the class, his eyes would glance over Nancy to you.
After class Remus walks to the Gryffindor common room. Making it inside, he heard chattering and looked over to see Lily and Mary Macdonald.
“Hey, Remus!” Lily said, waving him to come over towards them. They were sitting on the couch by the fireplace. Remus sits on the other side as Mary hands him a box of chocolates they were eating. His eyes widened and they giggled at his expression.
Lily chuckles when Remus is wiggling his fingers trying to decide which one to take. James and Sirius came with their Quidditch uniforms on. Lily frowned when she saw them walking towards them.
“I thought you guys had practice?” Lily asked and Remus looked over at them with a frown when they didn’t say anything. The guys just looked at each other for a brief moment.
“Oh fuck, Sirius have nothing to say. It must be bad.” Mary said, trying to lighten up the mood but James and Sirius didn’t say anything. They sat on the couch across from them instead.
“They canceled practice.” James said and Lily glanced over at Remus. It had to be more, James would be in tears if practice was canceled. He took quidditch very seriously.
“Why?” Remus asked, grabbing another chocolate from the box. Sirius takes a deep breath.
“The word is going around that the new girl is muggle born.”
‘Shit.’ Remus says to himself. He was right.
“She didn't know what it meant, they asked her about her parents and she told them they weren’t wizards. Those snakes dragged her by the feet to the quidditch field and slimed her while chanting mud blood.” Sirius said. Lily and Mary dropped their mouths open in shock. Sirius and James glance at each other. They were famous for their pranks. Being slimed in the field was a good idea but they didn’t like how you began to cry and how confused you looked about the whole thing.
“Never seen Professor McGonagall look so mad before. She started yelling.” James said, leaning back on the couch crossing his arms over his chest.
“Did you see the new girl?” Lily asked and James nodded. “Yeah, the other professors had to help her off the field.”
“Blimey.” Remus mumbled as the door of the common room burst open and Shelly walked in laughing with a group of students. Remus rolls his eyes when he hears your name being whispered. This year was going to be rough, he tells himself while popping the piece of chocolate in his mouth.

I’m Yours
Chap.1 Chap.2 Chap.3
“You’re so pretty it hurts.”
Pairing: Wolfstar x Reader
Summary: Remus and sirius are a popular Guitarist and vocalist in the ‘Marauders’ a rising band starting out in london.
Warnings: My writing, Modern/Muggle AU, Band AU, aged up, might be a few parts; Slow burn?, Alcohol mentioned.
Your friend had dragged you to this ‘exclusive VIP concert’ as her plus one, she works as a bartender for the bar you both are currently going to. “What’s so special about this…’band’?” you mumbled, bored and tired of the long walk to the bar. “this ‘BAND’ is being sold out everywhere! and the bar is hosting them for their own private concert to thank the staff!” you rolled my eyes as you finally arrived. “Tickets and work ID?” the bouncer asked as your friend rummaged through her purse “she found her ID, and the two tickets needed, Showing the bouncer your ID you followed closely behind your friend “oh- i think we arrived early.” she muttered, and you mentally cursed her out and groaned “of course we are.” you muttered through gritted teeth “sorry- must’ve read the time wrong-“ i sighed and just smiled “it’s fine.” the band was busy setting up on stage, not expecting anyone to arrive for another 2 hours. “hey girls” a long haired boy popped up behind you both, his dark black hair framed his face, complimenting his outfit which showed off his tall and lean build, “OMG!! you’re sirius black!” she squealed and squeezed your arm as you just stood there clueless. “that i am, darling.” he winked and your friend damn near fainted. “Scarlet- calm down.” you huffed as she was practically jumping up and down in your arms “You dont seem to excited to see me, doll face.” he grinned and you smiled awkwardly, “i don’t know who you guys are. Should i?” you mumbled out, a little unsure of what to actually tell this ‘sirius black’ who has your friend fainting at his voice. His eyes widening at your response but he just grinned “After the concert..” he rummaged through the pocket of his low waisted jeans and pulled out 2 wristbands. “here.” he took your friends scarlets wrist, who went back into a coma, then taking your wrist and placed the bands around them, holding your arm a little longer than necessary. “meet us backstage after the concert, i trust you know where that is darling?” he looked towards scarlet who feverishly nodded. “for now, you both can watch us set up.” he winked and waltzed back over to the stage, setting up the drums and guitars “oh my god” Scarlet repeated over and over again. “what?” she squealed, “he touched my wrist!!” she whisper screamed at you. “are they that big of a deal?” you frowned slightly, he seemed shocked that you didn’t know who they were, but, you were a homebody, and you religiously listened to the same music and rarely ever changed what genre it was. “yes they are!! and and! we just met the main vocalist!” she smiled brightly and you just gave her a weak nod and smile, “can we go find us a place to sit?” she grinned and nodded, dragging you to a corner of the bar, a table for 2 people in the corner, kinda far back but you could still see the band well, and it wasn’t in the middle of any of the future bar lines. “stay here! i’m going to the bathroom” she announced and then was gone in seconds. huffing you took a seat and just scrolled mindlessly on your phone till people started to pile into the small bar. hearing a whistle you looked up to notice the male you’d both been speaking to earlier, sirius black? Looking up towards his direction he winked at you, or your sure it was at you, before a sandy haired with a bunch of scars on his face called his name and pulled his focus back to the band. “back- what did i miss?” scarlet smiled brightly “nothin’ they’re about to start i think.” you smiled and she grinned as the bar finally filled up, it would be hard to see you both far way in the back but, you could’ve sworn sirius winked to you every chance he got. The music was loud, but good, you could sirius’ voice through the speakers until another voice came on and joined him ‘james potter-‘ you’re friend smiled and pointed out the rest of the ‘marauders’ and who was playing what. Remus Lupin, the taller male playing guitar, Peter pettigrew, the shorter boy on the drums, and Of course, sirius black and james potter. “Got them all down?” your friend smiled at you while you just nodded.
Getting up to make your way through the crowd, trying to find a short line to get a drink you finally managed to get to a bartender serving that night. “could i get a Vodka Lemonade?” the bartender smiled at you and you both made some small talk, the music seemingly got louder but, you didn’t pay much attention to the way the drummer and lead vocalists eyes were on you.
“Listen to me moons, i’m telling you, she’s perfect!” sirius rambled on about meeting you while he and the other young star got dressed “love, i haven’t even met her yet, let me meet her and then..we’ll try. Okay?” he smiled as he grabbed his waist, “right moons.” remus chuckled as he leaned down to capture his boyfriends lips in a passionate kiss.
The Bartender had to get back to work so you smiled softly at him and took your Vodka lemonade and went back to sit down with your friend. “he was so flirting with you.” she announced, clear as day, loudly as possible. “right.” you scoffed. “As if anyone would want to flirt- let alone get with me.” you giggled and scarlet rolled her eyes.

Me and My Husband-Chapter 1
Summary + series masterlist
Main masterlist
Chapter 2 / chapter 3
This is a slow burn wolfstar x reader/arranged marriage au
Word count : 2,724
The Marauders had all piled up into a carriage of the Hogwarts Express, sweets and lollies littering the seats and floor as they talked all about their break from school. Sirius had of course spent most of his break with the Potters once again before having to go back home before the start of their new school year. "We went to this muggle movie theatre and it was amazing, I've never been to one before" Sirius was currently spouting out about all the things he had done with James, not having a chance to do those kinds of things in his own home. "It was quite fun until we almost got kicked out because Padfoot here wouldn't shut up!" James spoke up with a humorous tone. "Well enough about that, how did your guys break go?" Sirius asked the other two boys after giving James a slight shove. Remus spoke up first "I went to visit my grandparents, they live out in the countryside, so it was nice to have some peace and quiet finally" Peter timidly spoke, a hint of concern in his voice. "Did you handle the full moons alright?" Remus gave a slight nod "it's a pretty secluded area, plus lots of room to run around" He gave Peter a smile to ease up any concern he had for the young Werewolf.
The rest of the trip was filled with mindless talk about more stuff that happened during their break, what kind of pranks they were planning this year and of course relationships. Sirius seemed to stiffen as soon as the topic had been brought up. Peter droned on about his new hufflepuff girlfriend he had gotten at the end of last year before asking the others if they had any crushes or anything. "Well I can't say I have one yet, but who knows this year I might get lucky" James said with a huge dorky grin on his face. After being rejected by Lily Evans far too many times the boy had decided it was best to move on, and now without the constant attempts to gain her affection they had become close friends. Sirius hadn't contributed much to the conversation though, in fact he hadn't spoken a word since Peter had brought the topic up. Although James and Peter didn't notice, the two boys continued with meaningless conversation. Remus on the other hand had noticed how Sirius was unusually quiet, his stormy eyes didn't look away from the window he was leaning against until the scarred hand of the tall boy touched his knee gently "you alright padfoot?" Remus's soft voice had always been pleasant to his ears. Sirius gave a small nod and faked a smile, though Remus could always tell when someone was faking a smile he just always knew, tilting his head as his eyebrows furrowed, clearly not believing what he had said. It scared Sirius just how much of an open book he seemed to Remus, though he guessed everyone felt that way about the tall boy. He knew Remus knew he was lying, he leant down towards him "I'm here if you need anything Sirius" giving him a soft smile, everything about Remus Lupin was soft, his hair, his voice, his warm skin and even the sweaters he always wore. Thankfully though he didn't press on, just leaving his large warm hand on Sirius's knee.
The train ride had come to an end soon after that, the four rowdy boys rushing off the train. All laughing like madmen at some stupid joke James had said. "Let's get to hogwarts quickly I'm starved" Sirius said with an over dramatic and drawn out sigh, James slung his arm around him as a laugh was drawn out from him "yeah because you totally didn't have enough from the trolley" Sirius elbowed him in the side, although that did nothing to discourage James. "Yeah padfoot you would've brought her whole stock if Moony hadn't stopped you" Peters jab had James cracking up all over again. Even Remus let out a small laugh, though Sirius just huffed "you're all the worst" shaking his head at his three friends. "Yeah but you'd be lost without us" James stated, ruffling up the hair of his best friend. As they continued walking Sirius caught sight of the one person he dreaded seeing around the school other than his younger brother, Y/n l/n, or as he referred to her since their last meeting during their break, the absolute bane of his existence. The sight of the expensive jewellery she wore on her hand made his thoughts bubble with anger, she was just as pompous and up herself as ever. He quickly dismissed the thoughts of her, not wanting to think more of it.
The four friends eventually found their way to the great hall, watching on as new 1st years were getting sorted. The boys were certainly the loudest when new students were sorted into Gryffindor. After the sorting and the same speech Dumbledore gave every year the feast had begun, everyone digging in and talking loudly with the people around them. Once the boys had finished eating they rushed to their dorm room, already excited to start planning out pranks for their last year. They all fell asleep quicker then they had initially planned on, the adrenalin wearing off as they started to crash out, barely out of their clothes or under their covers. Remus fell asleep sitting at his desk, his head leaning against his sweater he was using as a makeshift pillow. James was sitting upright, leant against the headboard of his bed, Sirius had crashed out at the end of James bed, his legs dangling off the edge of the bed. And Peter had fallen asleep on his own bed, though lying on top of the covers in nothing but sweat pants he had changed into.
They woke up later than usual, all stiff and sore from the uncomfortable positions they slept in, except for Peter, he was just cold. They all got dressed and decided to go down to the courtyard, they had the entire weekend to settle back in before 7th year classes started. Which they were all eternally grateful for. The Marauders made their way outside, laughing and joking around as usual. Finding somewhere nice to sit they picked back up their conversation from last night. "So this year everything needs to be bigger and better boys" James announced, clapping his hands together "I was thinking that prank we did last year on Snivellus, when we turned his uniform bright pink for the whole day, was pretty good but we could definitely top that". As soon as he finished the four boys all had that same classic Marauders look on their faces that screamed they were up to no good and to steer clear. Sirius shot up "how about we make it rainbow and glitter" Peter laughed and added on "yeah we could even add frills this time" that sent the boys into a crazed fit of laughter all except Remus. It wasn't that he was against the idea, it was more that he had something else in mind "or we could turn his uniform into the girl's one" despite his voice not being as loud as the others, their laughter had completely stopped. Wide devious smiles quickly covered the shocked looks they gave him "Merlin Remus you're a bloody genius!" James shouted, as he ruffled his hair up in approval.
They continued talking about how they'd pull it off when James noticed none other than Lily Evans walking through the courtyard "hey Lily!" James shouted out without a second thought. Lily's head shot up and she smiled at the boys walking over with one of her friends she had been talking to. "Hello boys, I hope the break treated you all well" the boys responded with simple answers of head nods and even a thumbs up from Remus. Sirius had finally noticed who Lily just so happened to drag along with her, of course it just had to be her, Y/n. "Mind if we sit with you guys?" Lily asked, her tone as sweet as always. Sirius would have denied her, almost saying how they were planning some 'Marauders' stuff. But of course James beat him to it "of course not, go for it ladies" he smiled at the two girls as they sat down. Sirius was angry at this, not at James for letting her sit with them, but at Y/n for thinking she could just sit near him so casually.
Sirius couldn't help the hateful glare as he watched the girl in front of him, seemingly avoiding conversation with the rest of the Marauders. All he could focus on was the girl he deemed to be the bane of his existence talking away with Lily, the two only met because of Lily's best friend Severus due to the two being in Slytherin. His stormy eyes held a gaze with the glittering gem on her left ring finger, acting as a constant and cruel reminder of his unwanted fate. Remus of course had noticed, he always did when Sirius's mood suddenly changed. The Werewolf leant down to whisper into said boys ear "You know if you keep brooding at her you're going to burn holes into the back of her head" he let out a soft huff of amusement as the boy looked back over at him, an incredulous look on his face "I'm not brooding, I just don't like her" Remus had that look on his face, the kind of look that said yeah that's totally it. The boy shook his head leaving the over dramatic boy to continue his not brooding session.
Y/n knew Sirius was glaring, she could feel his eyes on her as soon as she sat down with Lily. She tried to ignore it, instead choosing to focus on her conversation with said girl about their breaks, the muggle born witch always asked about the balls and events Y/n went to. Neither minded talking about it, Lily got an inside view of what rich and exclusive Pure Blood gatherings were like and Y/n was able to boast about the overly expensive dresses and jewellery she wore to each event and how pretty she felt in them. She was able to ignore the glaring eyes that seemed almost harsh enough to feel in her skull, until Lily had pointed it out "you know Sirius has been staring at you this entire time" the Slytherin didn't spare a glance at the mentioned boy "I'm well aware, he's been doing that a lot lately, I have no idea why" she let out a scoff at the end of her sentence. As much as she liked to talk about every little detail that happened during her break to Lily. The one thing she just so happened to leave out was the meeting between both her family and the Blacks. When Y/n's left hand combed through her hair brushing it back giving Sirius a perfect view of the beautiful ring he had come to hate, and of course he had taken it as a personal insult, as if she was flaunting the expensive jewel on her finger to dig the knife deeper into him. And that kind of insult wasn't something he had taken very lightly as something seemed to snap inside him, the black haired boy stood up abruptly walking over to the two girls "may I have a word with you l/n" his stormy grey eyes filled with hatred and disgust met the dull and harsh eyes of the girl he stared down, awaiting an answer from her. "With all due respect Black I'm currently busy" despite the two seeming to hate each other's guts, they always still acted formal with each other, years of being raised by pure blood families leaving its mark on the two teens."Yes well it's a very urgent matter Y/n" at the use of her first name she sighed and stood from her seat next to Lily, Sirius had only ever seemed to use her first name when he was beyond angry at her "i'll be back soon Lily" the girl just smiled and nodded joining the conversation with the rest of the marauders as Sirius dragged her away. Remus noticed the tight grip his friend had on the girl's wrist, he felt a tinge of worry creeping up on him, though he seemed to be the only one who noticed, not even Lily had noticed how Sirius pulled away the girl she was just talking to a second ago. Remus knew he was overly perceptive sometimes to his own detriment, so he softly interrupted the group's chatter with the excuse of going to the bathroom. Only to follow the two teens who had just left, stopping just before turning the corner peeking over slightly to see the people he was looking for.
Sirius had cornered Y/n against the wall, not wanting to let her leave until he spoke to her "do you seriously have to wear that stupid ring everywhere" he scoffed down at her, disgust clear in his voice. The Slytherin rolled her eyes at the boy "my parents wanted me to, it's not like I could say no to them, you know what will happen if Regulus finds out you're not wearing yours, do you really want your parents to find out" it was now Sirius's turn to roll his eyes "that doesn't mean you have to flaunt it around and keep reminding me of it" the girls face morphed from slightly irritated to furious "Excuse me! You think I'm flaunting it, as if I ever wanted this, as if I like this any more than you do!" Her voice kept rising in octaves as she yelled at the boy in front of her. "All I'm saying is you seem far too comfortable wearing that to be too upset about it" he leaned down into her face, it was clear to Y/n he was trying to intimidate her, there was a pause of silence before a loud slap rang out in the empty corridor they had found themselves in. Sirius's hand shooting up to hold his now reddening and sore face "you prick! Stop speaking to me like that, as if you know anything about me, it's like you think it's my life's dream to be betrothed and bear children to some moronic teenage boy I hate, simply to uphold our stupid pure-blood lineage!" Sirius was too stunned to speak, he didn't know if it was because of the slap, the angry words the usually quiet girl had yelled at him, or the tears that were now violently streaming down her face. Y/n turned away from him, face red and hot from her anger and tears, in doing so she had locked eyes with none other than Remus Lupin who was standing at the end of the corridor in shock only slightly out of view, both their eyes widening as their eyes locked. Y/n letting out a shocked gasp had alerted Sirius, whose head shot over to look at Remus, the tall Werewolf looking between the two, a slight bit of fear etched on his face at being caught. He looked down "sorry, I didn't mean to overhear anything, I was just worried about you" he didn't say who exactly he was talking about, eyes locking onto the floor. Though Remus himself didn't know who he was talking about either, only looking up when he heard the sudden movement of feet, watching as Y/n shoved Sirius away from her. Finally being freed from against the wall, she took off in the other direction, unable to contain her violent sobbing. Remus looked awkwardly at Sirius as he slowly made his way over, the taller boy staying still in his spot "you can't tell the others about this, can you promise me that Moony?" Remus seemed shocked, while he looked at Sirius. He seemed so vulnerable and scared, almost weak even as a few tears leaked down his face "I- I promise… I won't tell anyone anything" he gently put his hand on Sirius's shoulder. Said boy leaned into the touch of his friend, he sniffled slight before speaking "thank you Remus"
