"Hey look at this, remember when we went to that pottery class for my birthday?"

Hearing your question, Taeil looks up from his own phone to look at yours. A video of him playing while he shows the cup he made you. Of course it was color yellow, his favorite color for one of his or probably his favorite person.

"Oh yea, I remember that" he says, leaning over and resting his head on your shoulder. You ignore the fast beating of your heart, it's not the first time he did this, also not the first time you felt this constant flutter on your chest whenever he's this close to you.

"What about that one? is that when we tried camping?" he ask, chuckling already as the video started to play

"And you agreed, you had fun. Right?" he picks his head up from your shoulder to look at you eye level, his eyes looking right into yours

How could you say no? any time spent with your bestfriend is time well spent.

"Yea, I did. Except the part where we spent an hour building the damn table"

For a while the two of you sat there on the couch in the recording studio while he waits, scrolling through videos and photos of your friendship.

Recalling all the memories the two of you shared. Taeil can't help but wonder if he tells you his true feelings, will you listen to him like you always do. You're that one person who sees through his easy going, laid back image. He's not afraid to tell you his worries and share the joyous moments with you. At the end of the day, you are his person.

"Hey, you okay? I lost you back there" you look at him,

He smiles at your intertwined hand before looking around the room, seeing a few heads trying to fit on the small window by the door. He can see make out a few faces, some pushing others to get a better view. He can definetely see Haechan and Johnny, Jungwoo trying to push Doyoug away while Taeyong jumps behind Johnny.

He shakes his head at his younger members, giving them a quick smile before shooing them away. All eight members holding up a thumbs up to him in return.

"What are they doing by the door?"

a/n: here’s my first fic! i seriously hope you like it, it’s just a little something, a good ol’ fluff for everyone :3

taeil is tired. his eyes are tired, his fingers are tired, his brain is tired.

he straightens his back, making it crack in the process, as he taps lazily on the keyboard. his vision is desperately trying to focus on the screen, but in vain. all he wants is for his girlfriend to come home.

y/n and taeil have been together for years, six to be exact and nothing, absolutely nothing can make him happier than her. he can’t really explain it, if anyone asks he’ll answer with “she’s like my other half” and people will just pout in awe.

his eyes travel to the digits indicating the time on his screen — 10:23pm, she should be here any minute. and he’s right. as soon as the thought enters his mind, he hears the key twist in the lock, and the loud sound of the unlocking door.

“i’m home!” she exclaims tiredly from the entrance, he quickly shuts his laptop and rushes to the door like a dog that’s been waiting for his owner to come home all day. when he arrives at the door, he can’t help but crack a smile. she’s storing her soaked jacket in the closet, her shoes have already been kicked off, leaving place to the red socks that taeil’s sister crocheted just for her.

y/n never carries an umbrella with her, she says she doesn’t have the patience to wait for it to dry. she’s quite impatient with herself and objects around her, but not with people. that’s something taeil loves about her.

she sees him as he stands there, staring at her without saying a single word. she arches an eyebrow and his smile makes her lips curve in a smirk “what?”, he shakes his head slowly as he nibbles on his bottom lip. how could she look so beautiful? he doesn’t know how he even managed to attract her in the first place, he thinks she’s way out of his league. in fact, when he first saw her, he didn’t expect her to engage the conversation. it took everything in him not to kiss her throughout the whole party at which they met for the first time ever. apparently he was too easy to read, because she ended up asking him out before he could even have the occasion to do so.

now taeil gets to spend his nights by her side, fuck her when she wants it, comfort her when she needs it, help her unwind after work and kiss her like there’s no tomorrow — and that’s exactly what he’s doing now. she approaches him with careful steps before snaking her arms around his torso, he takes this moment as an opportunity to press his lips on her forehead and plants a warm and slightly wet kiss.

y/n lets out a small sigh of relief, thanking the whole universe for giving her the most comprehensive boyfriend she could ask for. she sinks in between his arms, humming softly as he gently strokes her hair. his warm embrace is something she’ll never get tired of, for sure.

she loves taeil more than she even loves herself. yes, she knows how bad it sounds, but after all who cares? people always say to love yourself more than anyone, but she can’t lie to herself. she knows how much she needs him, how much he needs her. some would say they’re codependent on each other, is it really that bad though? y/n doesn’t think so. all that matters to her is being with him.

his friends never teased him about it. simply because they’ve never seen him like that. completely hypnotised, deeply in love with one that he sometimes forgets to pay attention to the things and people around him.

but why does he love her so much, what’s so special about her? y/n doesn’t know. no matter how much he compliments her she seems to keep wondering why. in fact, she doesn’t know what makes her so special.

of course, taeil knows. it’s the way she constantly procrastinates, the way she apologises for small and insignificant things, the way her eyebrows quirk when something bothers or amazes her, the way she unintentionally pouts when she’s upset, everything about her makes him love her even more than he does each day.

she doesn’t know all this, doesn’t know how she truly makes him feel.

she releases him from her embrace, but he doesn’t let go of her. she walks them to the living area with small steps as his arms are still wrapped around her shoulders. when they get to the fridge in the open kitchen, he finally releases her and presses himself against the counter behind him, admiring her as she pours herself a glass of lychee juice. sweet and gentle, like her.

taeil always knew which fruit y/n reminded him of, and he knows why. the colour of the lychee itself is something he associates his girlfriend with a lot, even though her favourite colour is navy blue. it’s been navy blue ever since she was seven.

when she finishes her glass of juice, they both walk lazily to the sofa, his arms now wrapped back around her shoulders. they plop down on the comfortable piece of furniture, legs briefly thrown in the air, because of gravity.

“do you feel like watching a movie? you can pick” he watches her fondly, his gaze doesn’t fade. he nods slowly, trying to focus on the words that comes out of her mouth. he tries, but fails miserably. although she notices it, he never stops staring at her.

she quirks an eyebrow, wondering what could possibly be happening in her boyfriend’s mind at that very moment. panicking a little, she finally blurts out a “okay stop that now, what’s gotten into you” with a shy smile on her lips. he sighs deeply, filling his lungs with the intoxicating smell of her favourite perfume that’s been applied at least more than ten hours ago — taeil can tell by the sweetness and lightness of the smell.

he gives her the gummiest smile he could, and before she can even ask him why, he smashes his lips on hers. startled at first, she freezes for a bit, but it’s not long before her lips begin to trap his bottom one softly.

the kiss lasts for about two minutes, warm and welcoming. nothing sexual, just two human beings with a deep passion for each other.

taeil lifts his hand gently to cup her jaw and pulls her away slowly, admiring her again as her eyes focus on his lips. a quiet moment settles in and only the raindrops are heard banging against the windows.

“we’re watching ocean waves again tonight” he grins after letting go of her face, his hand falling in her lap as she watches him snatch the remote in disbelief. she narrows her eyes, and when he notices her, he pokes her nose and gives her one last kiss before selecting the chosen movie.

she rests her legs on his lap and his slim, well shaped fingers can’t help but knead the flesh of her thighs — it’s a habit, at this point.

it’s during moments like those that taeil feels like he needs no more than what he already has. because why want more when she’s everything he’s always needed?

To give Renjun credit, the place does look lovely, from the miniature ornaments dotted along the fireplace to the twinkling red lights along the garden wall that greeted him when he had rounded the corner of the street.
