Feud C64 charset in truetype format.
Updated on 2014-07-31 (Version 1.001)
added glyphs
minor improvements
This is a truetype rebuild of the âFeudâ C64 game charset with some added glyphs, done with Illustrator and Fontlabâs TypeTool 3.
The workflow is more time-consuming than with BitFontMaker2, but at least the result is more satisfying.
As shown in the preview, the Feud font looks fine down to 8 pixels font size, compared with the Gauntlet font, which only works accurate down to 16 pixels.
Illustrator served as an 8x8 pixel editor and the resulting glyph vectors were imported to Type Tool 3. You could pass the Illustrator process and do it with TT3 only, but I am more familiar with Adobe tools.Â
In TT3 I adapted the metrics and dimensions from the great C64 truetype font by Style.
Download the âFeudâ truetype font here:

C64 charset probably originally created by Ste Pickford for the Feud computer game, published by Mastertronic in 1987. This truetype reproduction is for non commercial use only.

(psst, I know I'm focusing and all that jazz but Joe Hill is one of my favorites writers. I get a lot of my inspiration for horror game concepts/narratives from reading his material. Also "writer's block" applies to anything creative, including game dev. It's okay to take days off from being a creative badass!)
hello, do you have any tips for getting around writers block?
Sometimes writers block happens when your imagination wants to explore a particular idea or subject, and youâre afraid to give yourself permission. Maybe youâre worried if you write about âXâ your Mom will be horrified, or your friends will be disgusted and disappointed. So you try and think of an idea that isnât âXâ and your imagination says, âOh, I see how itâs gonna be, go screw yourself.â
Your imagination runs on its own circuit. You either plug it in or you donât.
Of course itâs also possible youâre just not feeling it this day/week/month. Take some walks. Read some short stories. I think the daily writing habit is a terrific one, but I also think sometimes itâs okay to write a couple letters and an entry in your journal. Give yourself a break. No one day of work matters all that much. See below for more on this subject.

Time to do some brain-feeding/research by playing Twine games all night!
I'll post a super-swell round-up of the games I choose to hunker down and play.
Until then, FOCUS.

Happiness, The Video Game
Happiness, The Video Game
I consider my best friend to be a happy person, content with the life she has built around the solid, loving partner she has found (though, to their credit, the path to balance and harmony was not easy, and the snags they hit as a couple forced them both to grow as individuals). Iâve often had people accuse me of the converse. I am, to many people, a generally melancholy human being. Now,âŠ

Crytek A River: Wow, This Industry Is Terrifying
I donât mean that pun to be insensitive, I just couldnât help but make it. Thereâs nothing funny about a huge company â in many ways a cornerstone of this industry â not paying its employees on time. If you were using my MacBook and you happened to open Google Chrome, my two home pages would pop up: Tumblr, and a listing for a writing position at Crytekâs Frankfurt office from 2012. Me And My Rice Cooker (The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship)
It's Thursday, which means there's only a three day stretch between me and New York City.
Holy shit.
In three days I will be living in Manhattan.
Without getting too nostalgic, I have to mention that this has been a dream of mine since I was eleven (when I went to NYC to meet my internet boyfriend I'd wooed via Neopets).
So: big city, bright lights, no kitchen.
Well, that's not entirely true, there is physically a kitchen, but the appliances are so old running gas to them would be a (potentially deadly) fool's errand. As a devout foodie and home-chef, I immediately panicked when I heard this. Then I did some Google-ing.
You can make cake in a rice cooker.
I haven't tested this out yet, but the internet seems to want to convince me it's true. Here is a nifty list of all the rice cooker recipe collections on the topic I have found.
Three cheers for city life!

Sunset Overdrive's latest TV episode details character customization and traps.
Them there sound like fightin' words to me.
Quickly, since I'm supposed to be at work:
1. TRAPS! TRAPS TRAPS TRAPS I'm going to enjoy this game so much.
2. "You can be a dude in a skirt." If you hadn't had me at hello, Insomniac, you've certainly got a spot on my dance card now.
3. You can summon a dog with the traps. *mic drop*
