a/n: hi fellas, i have hypersomnia, which basically just means i fall asleep a lot so here’s the brothers with a very sleepy mc.
At first, the brothers are kind of confused. Demons don’t need as much sleep as humans and they’re baffled by your excessive sleeping. Do all humans sleep so much? Why are you always flaring your teeth at them? (They later learn that this is called yawning.)
Lucifer initially thinks you’re lazy and it honestly bothers him. Simultaneously you remind him of a certain brother, so he also lets many things you do slide. He'll just sigh when you fall asleep 45 minutes into one of his lectures. “I think they understood my point,” he says, before turning to Mammon and continuing his lesson for a good two hours. As you get closer, he understands that you aren't lazy and he even lets you sleep in his office at R.A.D. whenever you need it.
One late evening you trudge into his office, blanket in hand. He looks at you with a raised brow. "Bed, now. You haven't slept properly in like 3 days," you say, while pointing your finger threateningly at him. Much to his own surprise, he finds himself in his bed with you snuggling into his side. He supposes you kind of complete each other in that way, where he sleeps too little, you sleep too much.
The first time you fall asleep during one of your hangouts with Mammon he’s annoyed. He lets you sleep it out because you just look too cute when you’re sleeping, but when you wake up he’s crossing his arms and pouting. “Am I really that boring, huh?” Luckily, we all know the great Mammon can never stay mad with you for too long, so he warms up to you again within an hour or so. If you want you can always speed up the process significantly by giving him kisses or a big hug. It works every single time.
Once he realizes you don’t fall asleep because of him, but because you’re just so damn tired, he stops getting bothered by it. Instead, he just tugs you in, covering you in blankets. He'll even scold his brothers if they're being too loud around you. This just causes them to make fun of him, but always at a lower noise level.
Leviathan is also hurt at first, especially because you fell asleep during an anime marathon. He’s a bit harder to make happy again. He’s absolutely convinced it has something to do with him. No matter how many times you tell him he doesn’t believe you until one day when you fall asleep in the middle of a conversation with Mammon. The sight makes him laugh so hard, he almost falls over.
After that, he doesn’t mind anymore. After all, if you fall asleep around Mammon, then it's probably you who's the problem, not him. He lets you sleep with your head in his lap. He’ll even tread his fingers through your hair, but he’ll never admit that to you when you’re awake. Once you wake up again he’s happy to give you a recap of what you missed in the episode, plus an analysis of the dialogue and the hidden meanings of certain scenes.
Satan doesn’t mind at first, because he likes how it bothers Lucifer. He even helps you get away with it. When you fall asleep during class, he’ll put a book in front of you so the teacher can’t see and he’ll answer the question for you if you’re called on. He even begins to write notes for you. Later it just becomes a habit of his, he does it for you without thinking.
If he’s reading aloud for you and you fall asleep, a smile will tug at his lips and he’ll just continue reading for you. Because of you, he begins researching human sleeping patterns. After he reads that certain foods can make you more energized, he begins to carry fruits and nuts with him, which he offers you whenever you get sleepy.
Asmodeus thinks beauty sleep is very important. It’s only natural that someone as beautiful as you should sleep a lot. Besides that, he’s probably the one who wakes you up from your sleep the most. Too much sleep can be bad for you as well! Besides that, he can't wait for you to wake up to share the insane gossip he just heard. You need to hear it now!
Like with Lucifer, you remind Beelzebub of Belphegor. A lot. His chest hurts when he finds you sleeping in the living room and he carries you to bed. When you fall asleep on his shoulder, he pats your head. He likes just looking at you when you sleep. Not in a creepy way, you just look so peaceful. It soothes the ache in his chest.
If you get too tired while you're out on a trip or assignment, Beel will often offer to piggyback you. Beel is a big guy, he could carry Diavolo around if he wanted to. With you on his back, he barely even registers your weight. His arms hook around your legs and sometimes his fingers will dig into your thighs. He likes the way you wrap your arms around his neck and the way he can feel your breath on his ear, while you whisper things to him. Most of all he likes when you fall asleep and he can hear your soft breathing.
Once you become friends with Belphegor, he’s excited to have a sleeping buddy. You come up to the attic to have your midday nap with him and he immediately opens his arms for you. “I’m serious, Belphie, only one hour,” you say, while setting the alarm on your D.D.D. “You know I can’t sleep for any longer than that.” Belphegor just nods sleepily and traps you in his arms. Once you're asleep, he grabs your phone and turns off the alarm.
When Beel comes to wake you up, saying it’s time for dinner, Belphie just laughs when you slap him lightly and complain that you slept for three hours. After that, you refuse to nap with him anymore until he swears that he won’t mess with your alarm again.
One time you mentioned that you have a hard time waking up in the mornings. The constant night of the Devildom is really messing with your brain. That very same day, a new bed lamp is ordered for you. One of those that imitate the sunrise in the morning, slowly lighting up your room as you wake up. You’re a lot more energetic in the mornings after that, a sight that makes all of the brothers smile your way at breakfast.
thanks for reading! you can find my other stuff here. <3

It's right where he thought it might be.
You're basically drowning in the fabric of his sweater, but he's also never seen you so visibly calm during sleep. He can't even be mad about it- even though he usually does get rather irritated about his own clothes being taken by others.
He hates it. But for some reason, if it's you, he doesn't mind.
In fact, he's got to admit that you look cute like this. "We'll take a small walk to the park with the dog hybrids today. They need their time outside." Hana informs him as he puts the card hanging from the red string around his neck, so staff knows who he is. "They're all ready at the front, so you can go and check in with Yoha." Jungkook furrows his brows.
"What about her?" he asks, pointing to you who's still napping in the corner you're usually found in.
"She doesn't tag along." Hana says, as if he should know that. "She's not mentally fit for trips like that."
"I mean, on paper." Jungkook says, almost scoffing. "But like, did you ask her?"
"No, because she never comes along." She says rather defensively now. "Jungkook please, we know her better than you. Just stay here if you don't want to come along, but don't try and lecture me or anyone else here who's worked with her and other hybrids for years." She scolds.
But it seems like she doesn't know Jungkook.
Walking over to you, he's careful not to touch you, well aware that it could freak you out especially if you're asleep.
Doesn't know you, he scoffs to himself. He knows you better than her it seems, that's for sure.
"Hey." he tries, but you're sleeping too deep. "Hey, puppy. Wake up." he demands again, and now he can notice your ears moving, eyes opening after a few seconds, until his eyes widen at the sigh. You're smiling. Your tail is wagging.
You look genuinely happy.
"Hey there." he says, unable to hide his own smile either. "Hana said we're going to the park. You wanna come along?" he wonders, and he can see for a second that you're hesitating. "It's okay if you don't. No hard feelings. Just thought, you know, I should ask." he adds on, when you slowly sit up, playing with the strings of your sweatpants.
Then, you point at your shoes.
"Oh fuck, yeah, I forgot!" he shoots up, running to his bag where he pulls out another plastic bag, before running back to you. "I bought them a size smaller cause those you have seemed to big, but if you wear like, I don't know, socks or some shit in them they might fit." he explains, before pulling out some slip-in chelsea boots with almost no heel. Your eyes are like dinner plates at the sight. "Would be a good chance to try them out, no?" he wonders, nodding towards the small crowd of dog hybrids at the front, Yoha already counting everyone it seems.
So much for 'she doesn't ever come along', he angrily thinks.
And then, you pull on his sweater to get his attention. "Hm?" he wonders, just for you to hesitantly grab his sleeve. "I'll stay with you if that's what you're scared of. And we can go back at any moment." he reassures.
And that's what seems to make it work for you, because you move to slip into your new boots, before you get up and grab your coat from the hangers close by. He wants to say something to the staff-
But he composes himself, bringing you along to the front where Yoha and Hana already wait.
"Here." Hana says, giving him a yellow reflective.. Leash? "It's mandatory for her. I'm sorry, but without it-"
"Yeah yeah fucking protocol crap, I know." he grumbles more or less to himself, snatching the leash from her hands before he carefully clips it onto your collar. He cringes at the sight, hates it, and he hates it even more that somewhere in the backside of the logical part in his brain, he understands it.
He also comforts himself with the fact that you seem perfectly fine with the arrangement. It gives you a sense of security, equal as if holding onto his hand but without physical contact. You're skittish, still very much scared, but walking close to him seems to calm you down enough to make it work.
He didn't think you'd genuinely play at the park like the others do, and you don't- but that's fine.
The fact that you're here, that you're outside and at least attempting to find your way back into life away from your little bubble you've created shows him that you're not a lost case at all. A bit of work, and you could surely be adopted by someone nice who looks past all those issues. But somehow, the thought of you living with someone else makes him upset.
He knows he's not a good fit for someone like you.
He's talked to his best friend about it the night prior. It's a lot of responsibility already to live with a regular hybrid- but you're special needs. And considering his past mistakes and criminal record, there's simply no way to file for emotional support or therapy assistance.
It's beginning to rain a little, and he throws the hood of his sweater over his head before making sure your jacket is zipped up properly as well- like second nature.
You've noticed this before as well. He looks scary, with his piercings and tattoos and bold body and angry gaze. But he only looks that way. He's like a guard dog for you; a protector, because with him at your side nothing bad will ever happen. He's nice, a bit rough, but always friendly in his own way.
You like him.
Meanwhile Jungkook himself can't see what you see in him.
He's not the right person for you.
Next to him, you're perfectly content with your situation. Your tail is wagging sometimes in shared excitement when the hybrids in sight throw and catch a ball, but you also don't look like you actively want to participate. Watching seems to be more than enough, though you do check in if he's still next to you, tail wagging eagerly when he responds with a short smile your way.
He's not the right person for you, and he knows this.
When you walk back, he can feel your fingers grabbing the edge of his sleeve tightly, weighing his arm down a little. He notices the way his skin brushes against your fingers every now and then- feels how you do not react anymore, at all. There's a small moment of pure bravery, the sight of a road ahead, and the view of every hybrid standing in pairs holding hands that leads you to carefully slip your fingers between his. He quietly responds, holding your cold hand in his warmer one, thumb running circles over the soft back of your palm.
He knows he's not the right person for you.
But he wants to be.

S/O WITH HYPERSOMNIA
➪ request : “hi! can i request feitan, gon and killua w a reader that has hypersomnia? aka the opposite of insomnia lol, excessive sleepiness it's not like a bad thing but they sleep a lot (10-12 hours) a night and also like taking naps bonus points if theyre really physically affectionate so the reader loves falling asleep while cuddling? :> sorry if this was too specific, if you do decide to write this you can make whatever you want of it, i don't mind ^^ thank you in advance! - @youseebbiggirl
➪ other notes : ahhh i love this prompt and im so sorry gon’s part is so short but i wasn’t sure what to put
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Feitan Portor :
- he’s the quickest to find out, he’s confused on why you aren’t bothering him
- he goes searching for you impatiently, about to ask you why haven’t you been with him all day
- phinks sees him rushing through the halls confused on why the short man was dashing
- finally feitan comes across you lying down on your futon sprawled out
- it was 2 in the afternoon and he could have sworn you fell asleep early last night
- he squints before sighing and crouching down
- he flicks your forehead, “hey idiot wake up” he says as you stir in your sleep
- not seeing you wake up he grips your shoulders and shakes you
- with this action you immediately wake up, looking up at your not so romantic boyfriend
- “feitannnn” you whine in disappointment
- “why are you sleeping so much,” he asks
- “i don’t know i just sleep randomly for long hours,” you yawn
- after this interaction he’ll always pay attention to how drowsy you are
- now, feitan isn’t an affectionate man by any means but when he sees you sleepily invite him to lie beside you, he cant help it
- though he would 100% make sure that nobody was around, he has a reputation to keep up
- as creepy as it sounds, he likes watching you sleep during your naps, he likes the way your chest slowly rises and drops and the way your face looks
- you’re the only person that can make this stoic man smile even if its a small one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gon Freeccs :
- he’s oblivious of your whole situation
- he just thinks you’re tired
- after all, being a hunter is very tiring
- he starts suspecting something’s wrong when you’re sleeping more than half a day weeks after your mission
- “y/n~” he shakes you gently awake, not trying to startle you
- he pouts as you whine in annoyance, “gon im still asleep,” you tell him going back to sleep
- normally he lets you sleep, still not very knowledgeable about your sleepiness
- he doesn’t mind if people see him with you, in fact he loves when people see you sleeping on him
- he’s very confident in your relationship with him plus he cant push you off when you’re sleeping looking all cute
- he loves it when you fall asleep in his arms, confiding yourself in him, he doesn’t care if someone watches, he loves you after all
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Killua Zoldyck :
- he finds it odd how you’re always drowsy and wanting to sleep
- you always sleep early only to wake up late in the afternoon
- “hey wake up,” he pokes you wanting you to stop your slumber to be with him
- you look up at him confused before placing your head down on your pillow again
- “HEY pay attention to me!” he loudly says to you wanting you to get up
- after this situation, he’ll let you sleep on him when he sees you yawn or droop your eyes
- when you have your naps, he checks up on you occasionally
- if he has his butler around, he’ll make sure he takes care of you as well
- he doesn’t mind if people are around but if anyone mentions it he’ll immediately get red in the face and slightly push you off
- sometimes when you’re asleep he’ll creep into your futon, hugging you
- he wants your warmth to hug his heart
- but don’t bring it up, he’ll get nervous with you afterwards

Today and everyday, I am representing those with the rare disorder - Idiopathic Hypersomnia.
IH causes one to be very sleepy during the day regardless of the amount of sleep received. Unfortunately, we have yet to figure out what causes IH or how to treat it. I have participated in numerous medical trials, taken trial medications in every form imaginable, and I have even been injured by medical tests gone wrong (induced sleep paralysis = broken toe). I have spent countless weekends in a hospital bed, forced to stay awake for 25+ hours in order to conduct testing so perhaps others can find relief.
How does it affect my life?
I’m exhausted all the time. I honestly don’t know what “being refreshed” feels like. I haven’t felt that since I was a child. I sometimes sleep whole days away and it affects my relationships. I can’t drink with friends because the alcohol will make me fall asleep at the bar. I have been bruised from too much time in my bed or couch. It makes it extremely hard to stay motivated at the gym. I have fallen asleep on a treadmill and while recieving tattoos. Worst of all, it affects my memory (along with another neurological disorder). Sleep is so important to our brains, it’s a time for it to recover. And my particular version of IH causes my brain to float in light sleep, hardly ever reaching REM. So my brain is never healing. I forget things, I get anxious that I’m forgetting things, and I have a hard time formulating words that I want. It hurts to know I’m smart but can’t always present myself that way.
I could go on and on about the affects it has on me, but honestly the hardest part is people who don’t think you have a disorder. “I’m tired a lot too!”
I will always and forever support invisible disabilities. It is a backwards way of thinking to think disability means wheelchair, or some other physical ailment. Just because you can’t see a disorder, doesn’t mean it’s any less real. “You’re too young to be forgetting things..” that’s one I hear A LOT. Yea, thanks for the reminder than I’m on my way to early memory loss way before my time. I can’t even remember vacations with my family. Memories that I know I love but can’t reach.
Be kind, be cautious with your words, be supportive even if you don’t know the whole story, don’t deny someone else’s reality just because it’s different than your own.
To all my loves with narcolepsy or any other invisible disability, I see you ♥️

( Hypersomnia is a condition in which people have excessive daytime sleepiness )
⚠️: yandere behavior, possession/Jealousy, dissociative identity disorder(D.I.D), fluff, reader hates coffee (like me lmao)
— Viewer discretion advised.
Tumblr media
•   𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 is quite concerned for your health as you sleep 24/7. he knows you can’t help staying awake, and he prefers that you just sleep honestly
•  he finds it very adorable when you doze off in his shoulder or anywhere that inquires your touch to his.
•  he really loves it when your hug his arms/bicep and rest your head into his shoulder while you both are exploring.
•  he may seem like a innocent sweet bear, to you. but you’re too oblivious to realize that he is the reason why your friends avoid you
•  he always tells you to drink coffee to waken up your spirit, but you always refuse. coffee is just a big no for you.
Tumblr media
•    𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐂 is really observant, that means he predicts when you’ll pass out, or rest.
•  Marc hates it when you overwork yourself and refuse to sleep, your health matters than everything in the world
•  While he tries to stay away from Steven’s life, he can’t help but take over his body for you,
•  sometimes most times he lets you sleep on him since he’s not much of a big fan of touching
•  but yet again, he hates it when you sleep with a another person aside from him, the next day the bitch is dead or missing (in his basement)

Apology if its short, its rushed. in doing this in the middle of my Test 💀
thanks for reading my angels 💌💌.

hiiiii :], i was wondering could you write haikyuu hcs with a s/o who has hypersomnia with tsukishima, iwazumi, bokuto and ousamu? and you could also add any charters you'd like :]
Haikyuu Characters with a S/O with Hypersomnia Pt.1 Tsukishima, Iwazumi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Oooh I absolutely can, I had to read a bit on hypersomnia so I hope it's okay! If you need/want me to change or correct anything about hypersomnia please let me know! - I’ve also split up this request into two parts as I didn't want to skim out Headcanons and didn't want a long post! Hope that's okay! (Part 2 is here) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- (“Hypersomnia is the inability to stay awake and alert during the day despite having more than an adequate amount of nighttime sleep”)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Tsukishima:
I feel Tsukishima, before dating you wouldn't understand at first why you seemed in a way, slow. It was constantly seeing you having to stop and take both mental and physical breaks. Seeing you drowsy and sluggish all the time.
At first he thought you just clearly had a complete disregard for your health and sleep schedule and for whatever reason it really bothered him to the fact that one day he really bluntly approached you about it.
After actually talking with you and then becoming close, after truly understanding and learning how to support you, all the thoughts caused by his past assumptions quickly disappeared...
He’s almost a silent scary guard dog for you, he immediately deters any possible negative comment or assumptions strangers might make about your Hypersomnia, - It's not that he means to. He just has that presence.
If people do bring it up to you or ask you questions, he will happily let you answer and explain for yourself if you’re comfortable. After all it's your choice to say and explain it as you wish-
However he now tried to dismiss and educate people about how it's not something you can easily control. He just doesn't want others to make the same mistake he did and miss out on seeing how you’re clearly much more than anything you might struggle with! (even if he’s slightly more passive aggressive about it on the worst of times)
When he's with you and you need extra support he's pretty good at keeping an eye out for any warning signs that you need a break or to lie down.
He worries that maybe on the times you sleep too much you might forget to take care of yourself in other ways. He always offers you water after you wake up and a snack.
If you take medications for your Hypersomnia then he occasionally checks to see if you’re taking them as directed - but he tries not to hover or pester you about it too much.
At home he doesn't mind taking a slower day and sitting on the sofa or in bed watching tv or listening to music on days where the sleepiness is too much.
Tsuki won't immediately ask, offer or initiate any hugs or cuddles if you’re too sleepy, but he never says no if you ask or decide napping is more comfortable in his lap.
He also doesn't feel awkward with any silence or peace between you two, so if you want to rest or fall asleep next to him, he won't mind at all, even if it's for a few hours- but you know for sure he's got that water bottle ready before you know you’ve even fully woken up. Going “Hey sleepy, is it water time?” before gently placing a fresh water bottle into your sleepy little hands.
Iwazumi
He's similar to Tsukishima in the way he looks out for you, but it doesn't come without some playful teasing at first, he doesn’t mean it at all in any serious way (and he hopes you know that) but it's mostly at first to get your attention.
But after realizing how bad your hypersomnia can affect you on some days he softens up on the teasing and tries to be more helpful.
Hajime has this aura and sense of confidence that makes others respect and listen to him, which had come in handy many times while on the court; but it's been nice to have a strong presence to be around when sometimes if you can’t help but feel vulnerable when getting tired and exhausted, especially outside the comfort of your own home. If you need to stop and take a moment to rest, he’s always offering his shoulder or side to lean your head or entire weight on, “Don't worry, I’ll watch out for you” he reassures as you close heavy eyes.
He tries to make sure you’re not oversleeping to the point where you struggle to look after yourself, but he helps you get things like food and water into your system on bad days and makes sure your sleep schedule is as stable as it can be regardless.
With all the physical activity he does he either finds it easy to fall asleep at the end of the day, and come Sunday, by the end of the week he doesn't at all get upset at the idea of a nap together in the warmth of the afternoon sunlight.
He always ask questions about how you’re feeling, “Are you too tired for this right now?” “Do you want/need caffeine?”  “Do you not need caffeine?” “Are you comfor-”...“oh they’re already asleep!”.
He just likes to make sure you’re not overly pushing yourself or making a future situation worse. Once he knows any routines you have to support yourself, he has that stuff memorized and is not hesitant to carry any supplies you need around while outside.

personal life shit, largely negative (i'm not in any danger i'm just immensely stressed out)
i have a dentist appointment on may 14th, for some tooth pain that mostly crops up when chewing. i've needed to see a dentist for a while but as it is one of my least favorite places to be in the world (combination of fear of pain + knowing i'll be shamed), i've been putting it off. i can't anymore, obviously, but the clinic was booked out for a while, and i'm not in emergency levels of pain so a normal appointment was all i could do.
the pain comes and goes; usually it's only when i bite down on things, but every so often one of the two teeth i'm concerned about will ache for a bit. i've been 100% avoiding eating on that side, drinking only water, and eating only softer foods, as well as doing what care i can that won't exacerbate the issue (mouthwash mostly), and for the most part i'm surviving. however, the threat of this getting worse before my appointment and then of me having to scramble to get an emergency appointment (which i will very likely have to schedule a few days out, at minimum) has me stressed out like you would not fucking believe.
my weird sleep schedule turned back into sleeping a "normal" amount of hours, although i think my body is starting to shift into hypersomnia mode. my entire body is frequently in various amounts of pain--not pains i'm unused to, but ones being extremely exacerbated by stress (mostly in my shoulders and lower back). i pretty much constantly have a headache. and, of course, the icing on top of all of this is that stress fucks up my emotional regulation, because of course it does, which means i'm taking everything personally, upsetting people makes me want to delete every social media account i have and throw myself off a cliff, and i am both quick to anger and quick to start sobbing.
oh and my birthday is tomorrow. so that's cool. i can't even go out to dinner because i'm too scared of making my teeth worse.
so if i seem terse, disinterested, melancholy, annoyed, or nervous, uh. that's why. i'll be forgetting to respond to things more than usual until this calms down, probably. it's been lovely to meet so many new people lately; try to be patient with me if i'm not super social.

Hello! I was wondering if I could get hcs for Law, Kid, and Perona having a s/o with hypersomnia? As someone who’s suffered with it for a long time I always get insecure thinking that I’m seen as a bad friend or partner because I can’t do as much with others or go out much because of frequently needing to sleep even if I’d just woken up. It’s also tough because some people try to imply that I’m lazy and even if I try to stay awake it makes me more prone to forgetting things and making mistakes because of the brain fog. Your writing always brings positivity to my day and I hope you’re doing well💗
I'm so happy to hear you enjoy my writing!! I will do my very best with this ask~!💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Law is the opposite of you, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand your need for sleep! Just like you need sleep for mental reasons, he doesn’t need sleep for his own mental stability.
Makes sure not to give you jobs that is over your capability, he wants you to be able to work and be independent, but also not overdue it. He knows what you are capable of and wants you to see it too.
Doesn’t mind if you sleep while he works or is reading a book. He enjoys the quiet time you two can make together. He also thinks it’s cute when you fall asleep, but he won’t ever admit that.
If anyone says anything, expect a death glare directed their way from him. He doesn’t take kindly to those who are mean to the ones he loves and cares for.
Is always there to remind you what you are missing or might have forgotten. As long as you can do the same for him when he goes three days without sleep and can’t remember his own name.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kid is a difficult one. He gets annoyed quite easily and hates to repeat himself. He won’t say or do anything to hurt your feelings, but you can tell he is a bit annoyed and Killer takes over talking for him.
He cares about you, don’t get him wrong, but he isn’t the most patient of men and has a quick fuse, so please understand when he snaps at you for forgetting something or sleeping in.
However, if someone complains about you (whether to him or in general), expect an all on war. No one talks bad about his S/O and thinks they can get away with it! Only he can talk bad about you!
Will never admit it after, says the person said something about him or that he didn’t like the way they looked. He DID NOT protect you, alright?!
Gets super blushy and embarrassed if you lean or cuddle against him in your sleep. Can’t you see he’s a scary and intimidating pirate?! You’re suppose to be scared of him!

Perona might get a bit annoyed if she thinks you are ignoring her on purpose, but once she knows it’s your mental health, she is a lot more calmer and more nurturing in the matter.
Gets on to other people for being mean to you or complaining about your sleeping habits. She is in mother mode and no one will talk badly about her baby!
Similar to the other two, she won’t ever admit she is doing it for your sake, rather she will just say you are her property and no one talks badly about what’s hers.
Let’s you sleep with Kumashi!! She finds it rather cute how you snuggle up to it. She also lets you cuddle up to her, but her princess ways will not allow her to enjoy it (openly anyway-).
Always reminds you what you happen to forget, telling you that you owe her for having such great memory and that she is your princess/master now for saving your butt.

sometimes our problems are caused by having problems
In society's haste to destigmatize disorders like anxiety and depression as a "chemical imbalance" one cannot control, I think we accidentally did ourselves a little dirty.
See, and hear me out, lots of people diagnosed with Medical Depression do not have Medical Depression. They have all the symptoms of someone with Medical Depression - but the cause is not a chemical one. It's a social one.
"Situational Depression" is a well-established phenomenon, yet rarely acknowledged or put into the mental illness conversation.
If you're miserable from living in abject poverty, no SSRI is going to make you less miserable. Y'know what would? MORE MONEY.
Between telling all the younger generations that if they're sad it's a medical problem and that money doesn't by happiness, it's the perfect equation for a generation of depressed poor people pissing through depression treatments and never getting better.
Of course Medical Depression is very much a real, proven thing. But I think pretending 100% of cases of Depression are actually Medical and can't be improved by an increase to one's quality of life actually lets people in power keep our quality of life shitty.
In my personal case, I'm depressed because I'm poor. I'm poor because I'm disabled and receive the "Ontario" "Disability" "Support" "Program". I mean, I guess Ontario is right. Calling a monthly $1100 payment "support" is very generous, unlike my monthly $1100 payment. That's $13200/yr. Show me a single person on earth making 13 grand a year that isn't depressed.
I got my first Medical Depression diagnosis at 13. After a few months of therapy not helping, I started my first SSRI at 13 and a half. That was 14 years ago.
Before my first manic episode that officially made me Bipolar, I tried well over 150 different Depression Drugs - not just SSRIs, but medications made to treat, specifically, Medical Depression.
Not only did none ever work, I never even experienced a single side effect (at least that was bad enough to notice). I gave each new drug the standard 6-8 weeks to start working, then onto the next one. For 8 years.
Then when I was rediagnosed with Bipolar 1, it all made sense why Depression Drugs didn't help - Bipolar Drugs are different. So then I tried all of those. I do have a pill that works on one thing - keeping me from getting manic. Y'know, the only part of my life when I'm not extremely depressed. Relax, I do take my meds, it's not worth it for me to not.
But here's the thing: I'm not Medically Depressed. I'm Situationally Depressed, and always have been. From abuse as a kid, and poverty as an adult.
I had chronically bad health as a kid in a lot of random ways. Migraines, strep throat every few months, heat intolerance. Many therapists have gotten me to the point where I consider those things caused by the stress of always being afraid for 18 years straight.
Then, when I was 19, on November 16th 2014, I woke up refreshed for the last time. Since then, I have not felt awake. I have not woken up feeling refreshed. Not. Once. I forget what wakefullness feels like.
After 8 long, frustrating years, I finally got diagnosed with Idiopathic Hypersomnia - literally, "too tired without explanation". As a rare, neurological, sleep-related disorder, it's possibly the least-understood problem your body can have.
The studies they have done - few and far between - are very, very hard to draw large conclusions from, but there's one thing that's pretty consistent: it never gets better.
Brain science is tough. Sleep science is the top 1% of hard sciences. We barely know anything about sleep itself and advances in knowledge are slow even by scientific standards.
This means a few things: firstly, there's little incentive and ability to study it and develop treatments for it. Secondly, even if they put every resarcher in the world on solving IH, it could take forever, or it could forever remain a mystery. Which brings me to what was the most horrifying thing I had ever concieved: Chances are very likely that I will never feel wakefulness ever again.
The reason I opened with Situational Depression is because I think IH, at least from the very few anecdotes I've read, is kind of like growing up abused and developing migraines as a stress response. Except, instead of being a result of abuse, it's a result of chronically bad sleep.
For example, one person on the tiny subreddit mentioned they have always had severe insomnia and never got it treated until they were in their 20s, then had their last refreshing sleep. When the sleep study and diagnosis was handed down, the doctor explained there's no definitive cause, but when she told him she would lay awake for up to 5h a night every night as long as she can remember, he said that could very well be the cause - but he can't say for sure.
I also had insomnia for a while, but never that bad and rarely that chronic. Instead, the thing that fucked up my sleep from the ages of 9 to 19 was my active effort to avoid sleep at all costs.
I woke up May 12th, 2004 to the sound of obnoxiously loud and dirty sex. Even headphones in, full volume on a shitty mp3 player, I could hear them.
While multiple therapists have validated this as a traumatic experience, I still feel a little silly saying that that one night completely ruined my childhood. But it did. And when I tell the story, unless it's to a professional, I always downplay just how awful it was.
After a few months of waking up to them fucking a few times a week, I started working my way through dozens of ways I could try and work around it. Because when I woke up, I felt paralyzed, absolutely convulsed, cried and would have to lay there listening for sometimes several hours.
The strategy I eventually had to use was as follows: stay awake till they go to the bedroom, taking a 1/4 risk that they'll just do it in the living room and I'll be trapped. The minute their door closes, mine opens and I tiptoe down to the basement, sit in the dark for 3 hours, then, praying they're done, go back upstairs. It was the only way to nearly-guarentee I wouldn't hear them.
I did this every night from the age of 11 to 16. For 5 years straight, I was lucky to get 4 hours a night. Anywhere from 0 to maximum 6 or 7 on a non-school-day. Then when I discovered over-the-counter sleeping pills at 16 I stopped.
While I didn't tell this to the sleep doctor, if I had to guess, this is probably the direct cause of my IH. Maybe a gene is wrong or I'm missing a chemical, but like my brand of depression, I'm starting to question the Medical-ness of my IH.
Which is a weird place for me mentally - cuz for 99% of my life, I've been desperate to convince any and all authorities that no, it's not my diet/meds/exercise/sleep hygiene and most-blamed, my depression, causing my endless fatigue. To get the diagnosis, I had to get doctors to take me seriously, and giving them any reason to blame my childhood for my problems and say "go to therapy" wasn't coming out of my mouth, and therefore, wasn't in my brain for a long time.
I became convinced that it's a medical mystery and my only hope would be a miraculous scientific breakthrogh or Dr. House himself leaping out of the TV.
The only recommended medical treatment, that might work maybe if you're lucky and Mercury is in retrograde, is Ritalin and its siblings.
I'm currently on a dose of Adderall recommended for severe ADHD, and just shy of a dose that could get a normal person high - like, cocaine-lite. I can and have taken my Adderall and then fallen asleep an hour later. When asked by the doctor if I had ever done coke and I said no, he said, "Good, because even cocaine would not make you feel awake."
So I did what I had to to get the diagnosis to get the okay to start Adderall. It helps with my brain fog that comes with the fatigue but it doesn't wake me up. Mostly I did all that so I can say that I've tried everything.
And for a while, I thought I had. Because I became so convinced that it's Medical IH when it could very well be Situational IH.
The way this came to me was when I saw on r/ELI5 "Why can we have sleep debt but not sleep surplus?" which I was like huh never thought about it. I did in fact guess the correct answer, but the way one ELI5 was worded particularly got me thinking.
Basically, your brain is a phone battery. When it gets low, it gives you a warning - fatigue, sleepiness, mental exhaustion. Then if it gets really low it slows down background applications and lags and can be buggy - you can't think straight, get a headache etc. Then when you recharge it to 100, it can't get any higher, thus no possibility for a "sleep surplus".
They go on with the metaphor by saying if you let the battery drain all the time, try to do complex tasks at 3%, run on 1% (stay up super late, bad sleep hygiene, pulling-all nighters, frequently getting just a few hours, insomnia) it can damage the battery. Sometimes irepairably, to the point it will never hit a full charge again. Sometimes you'll only be able to get a few hours of use before it drains again. It can struggle to turn off and on. I think you get the idea.
While I've actually used the metaphor myself to explain IH to others, I never got very deep to the point where I'd ask myself, "I can never charge my battery to 100 - why?" because it seemed, what with the unsolved nature of IH, there was no "why".
Obviously there has to be. If we keep the battery analogy, I kind of subconsciously assumed it was a phone that just had faulty wiring from the start - like a gene mutation causing IH. But instead, what if the phone is super old, and when you first used it, you abused the battery like crazy, then took it to a shop where a guy fixed it as best he could but after so long it just can't be brought back to the state it started in?
I'm unsure whether the "Situational not Medical" aspect of IH will change anything when it comes to my hope of ever waking up again. I've accepted that I haven't. In doing so, I've made the choice that my life isn't going to continue much longer.
But if you gave me an extra 10k/yr, I'd be less depressed. Situational Depression is treated by bettering the situation. But I don't know that I can correct the situation that may have caused my IH because it already happened.
However, when the situation is in the past, it's treated with therapy. I've been convinced for a while that I've gone as far as I can with therapy, but it's something I'm going to think about.
Thanks for reading if you did.
Stay Greater, Flamingos.

If you are often on your devices, have you tried red light filters? I am aware it may seem confusing, but red light filters actually do help quite a bit. Blue light is the natural output of most modern electronic devices, and blue light prevents the natural production of melatonin, thus making it more difficult for one to fall asleep at night. Normally, melatonin would naturally build up over the course of the day, but prolonged exposure to unnatural lighting like blue light provides can definitely lead to complications like the insomnia you seem to be experiencing regularly. It can also be a result of high stress environments, as cortisol can heavily impact sleep (and, incidentally, I seem to recall an earlier post regarding monthly cycle irregularity, which can also be caused by high amounts of cortisol). I may stand corrected on this, but it sounds like it could be a mix of a lot of things. I also wouldn't be surprised if it's a neurodivergency thing, as I know rather well that a lot of conditions under that umbrella can lead to insomnia.
...aaaaa I did not intend to ramble but there are a lot of things that I can think of that could be causing this issue?? I don't know exactly how to help with the information I've gathered so far, but I'm at least going to try to help the best I can
okay so, ND people actually seem to struggle more with insomnia/hypersomnia/both than NT people apparently?? thats what the NHS website says anyways. but that does mean this is probably related to me being a bunch of flavours of neurodivergency in one body--
it also could be stress though, i stress about. too much. everything and anything.
I dont know what a red filter is but i will probably try and figure it out to see if it helps me in any way,
ty! i actually really appreciate the fact you care enough to ramble aha 💞💞💞

BPD And Sleep: How Borderline Personality Disorder Affects Your Rest
If you are struggling with borderline personality disorder, you might be asking, “Can BPD cause sleep problems?” A lot of research has studied the relationship between BPD and sleep issues and found that the impact goes both ways, such that symptoms of borderline personality disorder can lead to sleep problems, and sleep problems can’t exacerbate symptoms of borderline personality disorder.
Introduction
If you are struggling with borderline personality disorder and sleep issues, it’s essential to understand the relationship between these two. Equally important is knowing what contributing factors there are behind sleep disturbances and the ways in which sleeping problems can worsen symptoms of borderline personality disorder.
Tumblr media
BPD and its core features
Personality disorders are mental health conditions that cause thoughts and actions which vary dramatically from cultural expectations.
Borderline personality disorder manifests with erratic behaviors characterized by emotional instability and impulsivity. There are several categories of personality disorders. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by:
A client who cannot control emotions
Clients with low self-esteem
A client who acts impulsively
Clients with relationship problems
If you are struggling with borderline personality disorder, there is a high risk of impulse control disorders or substance abuse disorders occurring at the same time.
Factors that contribute to sleep problems in individuals with BPD
So, can BPD cause sleep issues? There are, in fact, many factors that contribute to sleep problems in individuals who struggle with borderline personality disorder, many of them having to do with emotions, depression, stress, anxiety, and trauma.
Emotional dysregulation
BPD and sleep issues are common. One of the biggest reasons for BPD and sleep problems has to do with emotional dysregulation. Emotional dysregulation is one of the most common symptoms of borderline personality disorder.
This means individuals who struggle with emotional dysregulation are more likely to struggle with BPD sleep issues.
When individuals are unable to process their emotions, it can cause heightened arousal not only when they are awake but while sleeping. This means that clients are more likely to experience sleep disturbances.
Studies have found that there is an increased risk of harmful BPD sleep patterns in young individuals with a borderline personality disorder because they are still developing their emotional regulatory skills.
Tangentially, nightmares are a common symptom and can increase the risk of BPD and lack of sleep in individuals who have struggled with trauma.
Trauma
Tumblr media
Anxiety, depression, and other comorbid conditions
Studies indicate that anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and other comorbid conditions can increase insomnia, insomnia severity, and poor sleep quality. In fact, young people are more likely to experience stress, anxiety, and depression at the same time as BPD leading to BPD sleep issues.
BPD and sleep problems are often related to nightmares that are had while sleeping and arousal before sleeping. Individuals who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, or other comorbid conditions are statistically more likely to struggle with pre-sleep arousal leading to things like:
An inability to fall asleep
Anxiety over anticipated nightmares
Waking multiple times at night
Findings indicate that BPD sleep issues are most severe when it comes to the overall quality of sleep associated with stress and depression, followed by anxiety.
BPD Sleep Patterns
Given all of these issues, you might still be asking, “Does BPD cause sleep problems, and if so, which types?”
Individuals with BPD demonstrate higher rates of:
Hypersomnia which means they sleep too much, and
Insomnia, which means they are unable to sleep enough.
The reason for both extremes is that there are extreme variations in sleep duration and quality. Some individuals who struggle with pre-sleep arousal might find it more challenging to fall asleep, which means it takes them longer to get to sleep which can result in achieving very little sleep or struggling with insomnia.
Individuals with high levels of anxiety might similarly be anxious about potential flashbacks, nightmares, or not being able to sleep, especially if it is an issue with which they have struggled for the last several days. This heightened arousal can exacerbate BPD sleep patterns and lead to increased problems with insomnia.
An individual struggling with BPD and depression might find it challenging to get out of bed and end up struggling with hypersomnia and sleeping too much.

Hypersomnia
Ran lay next to Howl, his head resting next to his ribs. He was warm. If it had been anyone else, he would have assumed he had a fever. That wasn't entirely incorrect. Ran didn't know too much about the virology of his Tox, but he understood enough to know that his body was essentially always in the same state as fighting off infections.
At least that's the he understood it.
There had many times his body heat had been uncomfortable yet he'd been held so tight he could hardly move.
That wasn't uncomfortable.
Now, though, Howl was laying on his back and Ran was cuddled up against him. His fingers rested on his chest, tracing slow circles against the fabric of his shirt. As he took a deep breath, Ran splayed his palm over his chest, feeling his heartbeat. He took in a slow breath, exhaling with Howl's, trying to match it.
His own eyes closed, but he didn't sleep. He'd slept for most of the day, as well as the day before. Howl had been awake for two weeks prior, now he was catching up on rest he'd been deprived of. Ran knew that he could leave, but aside from short trips from the bed he'd stayed the whole time. Howl said it helped with his nightmares, but both of them knew he had no way of knowing that was true. Ran thought he just enjoyed having someone to squeeze.
Ran was shocked as Howl suddenly exhaled, subtly jerking. He thought it may have been another nightmare and he moved his hand down to rub his stomach, an act that would be dangerous to anyone but him. If anything helped his nightmares it would probably be that.
Howl took another deep breath, holding it as his body tensed up. "Hey, pups." Ran was very aware of the signs of him waking up, and even though he couldn't remember where he picked up the nickname it had become his go-to "good morning."
"Mmmmm." The grunt was the only response he got. He continued to stroke his stomach as Howl stretched, his body tensing beneath his hand before relaxing again. "You sleep well?" He asked, earning himself another grunt. "As good as I can get, I guess." There was a hint of sarcasm beneath his deadpan voice, yet as he smirked he added, "A bit better with you clinging to me like a needy kitten."
Ran couldn't help but smile. His abrasive mannerisms always got his heart racing. "Glad I could help." Ran responded, nuzzling into him. The action earned him an amused exhale, and as Howl lifted his arm with all the grace of a zombie he let it fall on Ran, holding his shoulder. "Always better with a warm body next to me." Howl's fingers tightened around him, squeezing him for a moment before his grip loosened. "Hope you didn't get too bored laying here for..." He trailed off. "Two days." Ran finished. "Fuck, no wonder I'm still tired." Ran did have to admit he didn't sleep nearly as long as he'd expected.
"Still...That means I haven't gotten off in two days." Ran couldn't help from smiling. Howl certainly had his priorities. He pushed himself up, resting on his elbow as his gaze moved to Howl's face to see he was smirking. "Two days, huh? Hope you're not feeling blue ball'd." The remark earned him a chuckle from his partner, and as his eye cracked open he met his gaze. "Just a bit...How about you give me a hand with that." Ran's face grew warm, his heart racing just at the thought. "A hand, huh? I can do that...For a start." As his fingers moved down his stomach, Howl shivered as they traced over his belly button. "That's my Purrcious~"

ahh hello i fell asleep on accident, i found my phone by my head when i woke up which is silly of me. i... probably should go back to sleep after i send you this, but i wanted to talk to you more first!
i adore greek mythology as well! though im not too educated on it. if you ever want to tell me more about it, you can! ive always thought it very interesting
ummm i forgot which goes next... my apologies! but yes, hypersomnia is when it's the opposite. i have insomnia as well - its surprising that they can co-exist - and it makes it harder for me to sleep at night while ill take three naps a day or so, even if i actually manage to sleep well one night. its interesting
heh, i dont actually have any favorite things puppets are in, they're usually in passing and i don't catch the name. there's something i might remember, but again, the name... im annoyingly forgetful. but i do love marionette and nightmarion from fnaf, if that's not cringe
that's very interesting! my favorite colors... i could never choose. i love all colors for different reasons. i adore pastels though, and darker colors. i do have a fondness for greens, though. plants are so beautiful to me, even the ones im allergic to. for a painting... id probably learn how to paint a person in watercolors good. i love watercolord and also paintingvbut painting a person is too hsrd
how are you? i dont knowif youd be on the plsne right now or still waiting but i hopr yuoure alright! sorrt for all thevtypos, im falling asleep kind of. i hope it doesnt make me less cool to you
-🎭
it’s okay, dear! after i sent that last inbox thingy, i boarded my flight, so you weren’t really missing out on much! get all the sleep you need, honey. you don’t need to apologize for it at all. it also doesn’t make you any less cool.
i’m glad to hear you’re also a greek mythology fan! that’s super cool of you! how did you get into greek mythology? also, i’m not suuuuuper knowledgeable on it, but i do know a bit here and there. i was a percy jackson kid, so i did my research.
i can understand how hypersomnia and insomnia can coexist. i’m sorry you struggle with that, dear. have you thought about like melatonin or something along those lines to help with your insomnia? i’m not sure if you’re interested in that kind of thing, or if you’ve tried it! also, if you struggle with energy levels, i recommend getting your vitamin levels checked out! there could be a deficit in some of them! i know i had to take vitamin b12 complex when i was younger (and probably still should) to help with my energy levels, and surprisingly, it actually helped a bit!
i understand the memory issues as well! it can be hard. what draws you to puppets? i know you mentioned a few things about them, but im not sure if thats what initially pulled you to them. also, being into fnaf isn’t cringe at all! i have plenty of friends who adore fnaf. i’m not super knowledgeable on it, but ive been meaning to watch markiplier’s play-through of them, so maybe ill do that sometime soon so we can discuss it! do you like/play any other games? have you played fnaf yourself?
pastels are super pretty! i like that you have a very diverse taste in colors. also, plants are gorgeous! it seems we do have a bit in common, no? what would you say are your top five favorite plants? as for painting, i adore watercolors! have you ever tried painting with watercolors? or acrylics? what would you say your hobbies are, dear?
i was indeed still on the plane when you sent this, but i’ve made it home safely. apparently, fainting on a plane is pretty common. who knew? you don’t need to apologize for typos, my dear. it’s okay. i hope you’re getting much needed sleep.

James Donaldson on Mental Health - Depression - Signs and Symptoms
Tumblr media
How do you know when you're just having a hard time and are stressed out, or if it's something more serious? When is it clinical depression? While a doctor is the only one who can make a qualified diagnosis, there are some signs and symptoms of depression that can signal your need to see a doctor. Here are some of those signs and symptoms. Morning Blues According to medical sources, feeling particularly depressed in the morning is a sign that you may have depression. Feeling sad all day is also part of depression, but the morning blues - perhaps making you just want to stay in or go back to bed - are particularly likely to be connected with depression. Anger Many people don't realize that recent research points to a connection between anger and depression. Blowing up and yelling at people without being able to control it may signify depression. Irritability Slightly different from anger, irritability is more about feeling snappish or easily frustrated and/or annoyed than angry blow-ups. Irritability connected to depression may make you feel really on edge all the time. Overwhelm Do you find yourself wanting to give up because things seem like they're just too much? Do you say, "I just can't take anymore," often? Depression can make you feel overwhelmed and over-stressed even when your schedule is not terribly demanding. Even a simple request for you to do something may send you over the edge and make you feel super-stressed. #James Donaldson notes:Welcome to the “next chapter” of my life… being a voice and an advocate for #mentalhealthawarenessandsuicideprevention, especially pertaining to our younger generation of students and student-athletes.Getting men to speak up and reach out for help and assistance is one of my passions. Us men need to not suffer in silence or drown our sorrows in alcohol, hang out at bars and strip joints, or get involved with drug use.Having gone through a recent bout of #depression and #suicidalthoughts myself, I realize now, that I can make a huge difference in the lives of so many by sharing my story, and by sharing various resources I come across as I work in this space.  #http://bit.ly/JamesMentalHealthArticleFind out more about the work I do on my 501c3 non-profit foundationwebsite www.yourgiftoflife.org Order your copy of James Donaldson's latest book,#CelebratingYourGiftofLife: From The Verge of Suicide to a Life of Purpose and Joy Link for 40 Habits Signupbit.ly/40HabitsofMentalHealth www.celebratingyourgiftoflife.com Feeling Inadequate People with depression may constantly compare themselves to others. As noted above, a not-too-demanding schedule may seem overwhelming to a depressed person, thus making the depressed person feel inadequate that he/she can't handle a schedule that others seem to handle fine. This sets up a cycle of feeling inadequate. Insomnia or Excessive Sleepiness Ironically, depression can cause some people to lose sleep, while it makes others want to sleep all the time (hypersomnia). Lack of Interest Are you just not interested in any outside activities? Are things you once looked forward to just burdensome things you have to trudge through and get done? This may mean you have depression. Changes in Weight In another irony of depression, both weight loss and weight gain may be symptoms of depression. Generally, if you gain or lose 5% or more of your body weight in a month, it may mean depression. Indecision Depression can make you feel like you can't make a decision, even simple ones. Your schedule just seems like gibberish when you look at it; you may not show up for things you have on your calendar or get dates wrong. Everyone makes mistakes, of course, but if this is a chronic problem or you just can't seem to get a handle on your schedule even when you sit down and try to figure out what to do and what to skip, it may mean depression. Inability to Concentrate Depressed people often have trouble concentrating and focusing. Your mind may wander, even to thoughts of death or suicide, and you may feel like you just can't get it together. Read the full article
