November 19 Update:
My mom's cat and my dog are starting to get along! It's a lovely gloomy rainy day and I drank a lot of coffee and had a nice pot roast for dinner. Fika was a spiced apple cider and sweet potato pie.
As for my thesis... I've almost finished my discussions and conclusions so I can send off to my advisor next week. And I wanted to kind of show top of my desk versus my very cluttered drawer lol.

so. I’ve never really written a complete story in my life.
In high school, I wrote multi-chaptered fics on ffn that got two chapters before being completely abandoned.
In college I wrote short stories that were more a vessel for scenes than anything like a plot.
I’ve wrote little snippits, short stories that could be considered complete but the ending was usually a cop-out cliff-hanger. I got an English and film degree and spent years learning what made a story work. I struggled with depression and anxiety.
Then I found my career. I got busy. I worked my ass off to get closer to something I never thought possible. Relocating and receiving the opportunity to finally work in Hollywood.
I’m here. The only thing for me to do is integrate, network, and move up. I’ve recently realized my dreams of being a tv writer are actually achievable. Me, the person who had never really written a story in her life could actually be a writer professionally. I’ve always wanted to be one. Always had ideas, been a creative person. But I just... never write.
Until recently.
On new meds, working with a therapist, I think I can finally fucking do it. I’ve started an outline for this Inviso-bang event (hah, who knew I’d still be into this silly show twelve years later. I’m an adult. What is it about this show.) And this is going to sound crazy, but all those years writing essays dissecting stories are paying off. I’m writing plot like it’s easy. I can see how all the themes and plotlines fit together. It’s crazy.
One of my professors in college once said that anyone can write a novel, but not everyone is ready to write a novel. You just have to wait for when you feel like it’s time. And it’s crazy, after years of working on it I finally feel like I’m ready to write the whole story.
Anybody out there who struggles like this, don’t worry. Even if you don’t feel like a “real” writer because all you’ve ever written is fanfiction, or if you’ve never been able to finish a story, you still can do it.
Keep those ideas simmering in your head. Make sure you participate in creative outlets, keep creating.
Someday, you will be ready to write that novel.
