1.20pm - morning,i woke up with puffy eyes,ikutkan hati nak duduk rumah nangis je but okaylah kuatkan diri,i deserve this trip. Im sti angry,hurt. I feel like you chose this trip over me by not even coming for me while youre still here. But part of me understands why ypu want it so bad,just that you couldnt understand on my end that,i let you go on the trip,but at that exact moment my emotions took over me my overthinking god. and you didnt came for me,you didnt understood me. im sorry for the hurtful words i said,but on my end i can still be angry,because you didnt came for me,you always do,you promised the lasy fallout we had would be the last where you didnt come for me.In the end i still came for you,i waited hours. I have to shower now bye

I didnt know which colours were nice,if you were here youd probably knew which one suits me right.. but i bought the rare beauty blusher ive always wanted and their lipstick too,i picked a pinkish shade smth i would nvr go for but the pink is quite subtle,cant waitt to show you hehe hopefully.

The wishing stone movie 2009

Shorts: The Adventures of the Wishing Rock made its world premiere screening on Augat the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. Macy, Leslie Mann, James Spader, Jimmy Bennett and Kat Dennings. Is that what they teach there? When you are telling the story of a woman being stoned to death, you may not be able to use everything you learned in class.Shorts (also known as Shorts: The Adventures of the Wishing Rock and released internationally as The Wishing Rock) is a 2009 American fantasy comedy film written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Nowrasteh, born in Colorado, attended the USC Film School. That the pitiful death of Soraya is followed by a false Hollywood upbeat ending involving tape recordings and silliness about a car that won’t start is simply shameful. “The Stoning of Soraya M.” has such a powerful stoning sequence that I recommend it if only for its brutal ideological message. At heaven’s gate you cannot say, “I always followed the herd.” There cannot be a reward for following it blindly, because only a thoughtful choice has meaning. If it condones a death penalty that is visited unequally on members of a specific gender, race or class, it is immoral. The message is that if a religion requires practices that seem evil to its members, they should resign from that religion. The enforcers have power, position and wealth to gain and dare their enemies to go against what they say is God’s will. Those with objections fear crushing reprisal. The measures they introduced are being challenged today in the streets of Iran, and similar extremism is the practice in our dear friend Saudi Arabia. Fundamentalists were in power then and enforced their strictures. The stoning took place in 1986, after the Islamic Revolution. She did nothing that was not innocent and kind. She accepts this as her fate, as indeed it is. We see blow after blow, as blood pours from her face and body. Village boys collect stones of a good throwing weight in a wheelbarrow. Soraya ( Mozhan Marno) is buried in a hole up to the waist. The stoning sequence itself is one of the most unbearable experiences I have had at the movies. The mayor knows it is wrong and doubts Allah desires it but lacks the courage to do much more than mutter. The village mullah goes along because Ali threatens to blackmail him about an old prison sentence. His intended child bride has not been asked if she wants to marry him the marriage has been arranged. The phrase crazy woman can fall easily from the tongue, and it’s worth remembering that in Victorian England a wife could be locked in an asylum for life on only her husband’s signature (see the great novel The Quincunx).Īli the husband is an immoral monster. She’s a “crazy woman,” says the husband, Ali ( Navid Negahban). She knows all the players and all the motives and publicly calls them on it, to no avail. She’s played by Shohreh Aghdashloo, the Oscar nominee from “ House of Sand and Fog” (2003). How does a lynch mob form? Instead, we’re given a village populated primarily by overacted villains and moral cowards.Īgainst them is one strong voice: the widow Zahra, Soraya’s aunt. But it would be helpful to have it told in a way that shows how almost the entire population of a village allows it to happen, even though most of them know of the woman’s innocence and her husband’s vile motives. You might argue that the stoning of a woman to death is not a subtle subject. A woman really was stoned to death on trumped-up adultery charges, brought for the convenience of her husband, who desired to marry a young girl.Ĭyrus Nowrasteh’s “The Stoning of Soraya M.” does not dramatize this story in a subtle way. It is rare, and Iran denies it, but the French journalist Freidoune Sahebjam’s best-selling The Stoning of Soraya M. The practice survives in backward rural areas, and the law turns a blind eye. But women are still stoned to death in some Islamic countries, including Iran, where “The Stoning of Soraya M.” is set. To be sure, no witches have been burned at the stake in many long years, and few ever were. Is this in dispute? Are there any theologians who support such actions? Of all the most severe punishments of both religions, this is the one most skewed against women, and the one most convenient for men. The Islamic practice of stoning women and the Christian practice of burning them as witches are both born not from religious reasons but of a male desire to subjugate women and define them in terms of sexuality.

Thoughts on Big Mouth Season 5

I feel like I've had my thoughts on this bottled up for a while so I may as well just let them out.

I like that Jessi doesn't have a label. It could be because she hasn't fully figured out her sexuality yet but I think it's great that they're showing how you don't have to rush to figure out your sexuality. It takes time. If you don't wanna label yourself, that's also fine.

Speaking of which, I love that they're not even bothering to hide the fact that Andrew is attracted to men but not dedicating a whole arc to it. He's just Andrew. Him thirsting over men as well as girls is simply a part of him now.

Having said that, the Mr. Keating subplot was probably the worst part of the season. Maybe even the whole show. Andrew just straight up ruins a man's life and, despite his arc being somewhat dedicated to him being more sensitive and wanting to rise above hate, it's never brought up again.

Nick's arc was fine. I like the idea that some hate is valid and some isn't (with Nick's definitely being invalid) but the way it goes becomes a muted version of his arc from last season. It follows a few of the same beats but being more literal than metaphorical.

I feel like we haven't seen the last of Aiden or Samira. Matthew's choices may come back to bite him later on. Ali, on the other hand, seems to still miss Samira since her break-up was beyond her control so I'm not sure where this will go. But I am glad Ali won't be a glorified extra like Gina ended up being.

The Christmas episode was good (despite a few shoddy moments) but I feel like it should have been an extra episode like the Valentine's one was since it kinda disrupted the flow of the story.

I love Missy's arc and Ayo Edebiri's performance. I like her hate coming from jealousy and insecurity while Nick's just comes from spite. Her arc ends with her rising above it and trying to better herself and I'm really excited to see where else she goes.

Also, maybe it was because they kept making jokes in the finale about Jessi eating out Missy, but I honestly thought they were setting them up as a pairing at first. I'm glad they didn't because that would've been WAY too fast but I wouldn't mind seeing it in the future.

How the fuck did they get Hugh Jackman?

If we got Pillola, are we gonna get Bath MATthew?

I'm mixed on Matthew's story even though I'm glad he and Jay got together. They dropped the whole story with his parents to the point where they only have one scene. Does his mother accept him now? Is it just not brought up because he was single for 69% of the season?

But I love Jatthew. I like how Lola and Jay fell apart didn't feel all that forced. Couples fall apart and sometimes it gets ugly, no matter how great the honeymoon phase was. They had a good run but things change.

Rodney, just adopt Lola ffs

I'm starting to think that Gina's been forced into the background because the crew really doesn't want to give Gina Rodriguez a lot of screen time after all the shit she's said but they don't wanna make a big deal by firing her.

I kind of hope they do bring her back because I feel like the lid can't be kept on Charles Lu forever. I get Jay, Matthew, or even Andrew not outing him but Lola found out about it and she doesn't try to start more drama?

Also, where's Kat Dennings?

I wanna see an asexual kid whose Hormone Monster is Simon Sex. The kid doesn't experience sexual attraction so Simon doesn't try to make the kid horny. He just hangs around and chills with the kid. I dunno. It's funny to me.

Let Bernie be recurring. She's sweet and funny and I don't want Andrew to lust after is cousin anymore. No more incest please, even if the joke is that it's bad.

The lovebugs and hate-worms were fine even if the concepts don't make too much sense. Like, there's been plenty of love and hate before but they're just now showing up. I liked Rochelle and Sonya. Walter was funny at first but he ended up overstaying his welcome as both lovebug and hate-worm.

Mona's hot in a respectful way.

So sit-com wise, it seems they were referencing Malcolm in the Middle as the twins broke the fourth wall and talked to the audience, like Malcolm did

However, the theme song has told the viewer to stop questioning the reality of Westview - which could be a little reference to Mystery Science Theatre 3000? - When Pietro first shows up in the title sequence, along with his name title card, the lyrics say “Though there may be no way of knowing who’s come to play” - Istg, I do not trust Pietro

Vision says to Wanda that he had to wear his Halloween costume because there were no other clothes in his closet, Wanda is trying to move the plot along and forcing Vision to play along

Evan Peters’ ‘Mom’ tattoo is shown, which is a tattoo he actually has in real life ! But could this stand for ‘Multiverse of Madness’ or some other red herring?

Pietro mentions to Wanda that if he had found ‘Shangri-La’ he wouldn’t want to leave either - Shangri-La is a real place on Earth-616 that was founded by a version of Vision

Tommy refers to Pietro’s speed as ‘kickass’ and then Wanda repeats that, saying ‘kickass’ again - Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Evan Peters (both versions of QuickSilver) were in Kick-Ass together

The ad for this episode was freaky af - the character on the beach who starved and decomposed could be a little nod to Indiana Jones, where a Nazi’s face melts in - and it could also be reference to Wanda being all alone and struggling to process her grief. The shark in the ad could also be Nightmare or Mephisto or just someone more powerful than Wanda offering her a new beginning with Vision or trapped her in some way - and is feeding off her magic? The flavour of the yoghurt is strawberry flavoured and strawberry’s are red on the outside and pink-ish on the inside - much like Wanda’s og costume and her magic being red 👀

Pietro and Wanda talk about their Sokovian accents at a point in the episode and how neither have them anymore. Wanda’s, as we know, has disappeared over the course of the MCU movies and Pietro’s just doesn’t exist - another nice little nod to Peter Maximoff from the fox X-Men films? Also, Pietro states that “I’m just trying to do my part, okay? Come to town unexpectedly, create tension with the brother-in-law, stir up trouble with the Rugrats (a 90’s cartoon 👀) and ultimately give you grief.” - in reference to the grief part, could Pietro be killed off again? Stir up trouble with the rugrats, being possible shards of the demon Mephisto’s soul, could this be Mephisto trying to influence them on a deeper level? It’s also many many common sitcom clichès

Pietro talks about how “I got shot like a chump on the street for no reason at all” - nice little nod to how Pietro was killed off unnecessarily and how we as a fandom still talk about how regular bullets shouldn’t have killed him

Herb is dressed as Frankenstein’s monster - Dr. Frankenstein created his monster and soon lost control over him, and he was created using electricity or lightning - much like Vision was created and brought to life by Thor using Mjolnïr to bring lightning down to his incubator thingy majig. Could this also be a reference to either Wanda slowly losing control over Westview or someone else controlling Wanda/controlling the citizens of Westview - we saw in episode 3 that Agnes told Herb to be quiet as it seemed he was about to spill the beans 👀

Vision goes towards Ellis avenue and is at a ‘crossroads’ of sorts - in folklore, crossroads are often used to speak to or summon the devil and are also used when an important character is making a decision that could change everything. He spots some citizens repeating certain actions and/or just standing completely still, could these be npc’s (non playable characters)? And now that the barrier of the Hex has spread, will those citizens now start to move? 👀 Also I know that all stop signs look like it, but the stop sign is also a red hexagon 🛑

Darcy scrolls through Hayward’s computer files and goes past a file called “Project C4-113” - it could reference Avengers Issue #113 in which Wanda and Vision both appear on the cover and she says she’s going to make the world pay for Vision’s death. There’s also another file called “Project M5-247” which could be a nod to Avengers Issue #247, which shows the origin of the Eternals and in the same vein, Scarlet Witch and Vision trying to help Captain Marvel. And when Darcy emails Hayward’s cataract plans, you can see the names of “James Alexander and James Gadd” - James Alexander is a visual effects producer on Wandavision and James Gadd works on post production at Marvel

Also: Agnes pulls as Mrs Hart and repeats the same phrase over and over again

After Wanda blasts Pietro, you can see on a fake grave stone the name of “Janell Sammelman”, Janell is a first assistant director on Wandavision

When Wanda moves Westview to save Vision, she turns S.W.O.R.D and it’s agents into clowns + a circus - I just love that the agents turned into clowns 😂 but there is a nice little plot line in the comics where Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye join the circus - and this COULD be stretch, but earlier in the episode there is the number #22 which could be Avengers Issue #22, which is the Issue that they join the circus

As soon as Vision was brought back into Westview, he was healed - which means if he was to exit again, he probably wouldn’t survive 😭

The episode title is ‘All-New Halloween Spooktackular!” - which “All-New” is a designation that is often used on covers for comic books. And the first issue of the second The Vision and the Scarlet Witch series takes place on Halloween night - but the events in this comics didn’t influence this episode’s plot

Pietro points out that he has the “XY chromosome” - X for X-Men? Plus there’s the X gene 😂

He mentions “Uncle Peter to the rescue” - Peter is the name of Quicksilver from the Fox X-Men Franchise

Pietro and Tommy quote the movie Top Gun (1986) by saying “I fell the need, the need for speed”

Wanda almost seems hesitant to trust this version of Pietro (rightfully so, in my opinion) and is wary of him being around Tommy and Billy

Pietro says some very Mephisto/Nightmare-like things this episode - “Unleash hell, demon spawn!”, “The kids need a father figure”, “Damnit, if Westview isn’t charming as Hell...” - And if Pietro isn’t Mephisto/Nightmare, it HAS to be Agnes or her other half Ralph and Pietro is probably Ralph tbh...or could Pietro just be a scapegoat and Hayward is Ralph? 👀

The theatre in town, which is playing the Incredibles and The Parent Trap, is called the Coronet. There’s a classic poem called “The Coronet” written by Andrew MARVELL (Marvell, is also the true name of the first incarnation of Captain Marvel in the comics) and is about a guy who knows that the sins of mankind led to the death of Christ. He attempts to create a new crown for Christ’s head in an attempt to atone, but finds that there is sin in the crown as well, as the devil is within the crown and therefore he may achieve glory and success with his new creation 👀

Hayward’s confidential project “Cataract” included experimenting on Vision’s body, as was revealed by Darcy (my wife 💙 and Monica is also my wife 💚 and so is Wanda 💛, I just love women, you know? 😂). A cataract is a cloudy area in the lens of the eye that leads to a decrease in vision - is Hayward trying to weaponise Vision? Or maybe even trying to bring Ultron back? Or do what Tony wanted to do in the first place, and make a suit of armour that’s around the world? Either way, it’s for nefarious purposes

Who is Monica’s guy? Jimmy and Monica are off to meet him - could it be Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic)? Or could it be Victor Von Doom (Dr Doom)? Could it be Hank McCoy (Beast)? Or even Adam Brashear (Blue Marvel)? Or if it is a woman, could it be the Skrull daughter of Talos that Monica befriended at the end of Captain Marvel? Could it be Abigail Brand (A major character in recent S.W.O.R.D comics and an Alpha Flight Member)? Or even Toni Ho (Iron Patriot, and could she be introduced to help lay the ground work for my other queen, Riri Williams/Iron Heart?)? Or could it even be Sue Storm (Invisible Woman)?

In the background of the episode we see a number of children and adults dressed up as many different characters, which includes: Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, Jason Voorhees, with a sweater striped like Freddy Krueger’s and even a kid that looks dressed in an off-brand Charizard costume 😂 Pokèmon has always been popular, but saw an increase during the 90’s

Pietro and the kids are drinking “Kane Cola” which could be a reference to the 90’s drinks “Jolt Cola” or even “Surge” - it could also, with all the X-Men Easter eggs, be a reference to Garrison Kane, who was a member of Cable’s mercenary team “Six Pack” and is sometimes also known as ‘Weapon X’

The kid that Wanda mentions having a “skin thing” in the orphanage - could that be a reference to her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants co-worker Toad? Or maybe even Mystique? Maybe Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler)?

One of the houses has a sign up that says ‘Macabre Mansion’ - another possible reference to House of M?

During a flashback, it’s shown that the twins are playing Dance Dance Revolution, which came out in 1999. Also this might be a stretch, but the boys have a dog plushie in their room the right - which is coloured red and black - could this be a reference to Dogpool? 😂

Ava has a history of flouting protocol to assist her patients.

The machine whirred to life, shooting a steady stream of murky liquid into the small paper cup. Ava skimmed her medical chart while she waited. Her patient was a young adult who came in with severe chest pain and discoloured skin around her calves. The primary doctor wrote down that earlier scans ruled out heartburn as well as pericarditis. She reached for her coffee and took a cautious sip. The blemishes could point towards a blood clot—deep vein thrombosis, perhaps? It could quickly develop into a pulmonary embolism if left untreated.

The nurses' station was relatively quiet when she approached.

“Could you order a lung scan and a chest X-ray for my patient, please?”

Marlene took the chart with a professional nod. Her exhaustion matched her own.

Ava murmured a quiet thank you and tossed her cup in the bin. The results wouldn't be back for a couple hours. If her hunch was correct then she would most likely need to page the surgical department. For now, however, her rounds were finished and she could take a breather.

Her face twisted into a frown as she remembered her bag was still in the conference room. Her confrontation with Harper ensured she had been too uncomfortable to remain there. Ava decided to take the stairs one at a time. Saying she was dreading their next meeting was an understatement. They would need to have a serious conversation with Bloom. Ethan breaching protocol was on him alone. A conversation with Harper was in order as well; earlier she had been caught by surprise but she wouldn't let that kind of treatment stand. Barging in, wrongfully accusing her without any evidence whatsoever, yelling and refusing to believe her even when the culprit was standing right there—Ava wondered when the cool renowned surgeon became an unruly child.

The revelation that Harper still saw her as a reckless intern made her incredibly angry. Her one mistake happened over two years ago and she came forward to shoulder the blame. Ava had grown since then, both as a doctor and as a person. Her near-death experience also served to put things into perspective, to say the least. She would always have the best interest of her patients at heart but she would never again jeopardize her career so foolishly.

That thought brought her back to Ethan. Frankly she didn't recognise him any more. He came back from the Amazon a different man—one she wasn't sure she liked all that much. Their tentative relationship hadn't stood a chance. Him being her attending was difficult enough, then she was facing the possibility of being suspended, and just as she thought they could make it work after all, Naveen promoted her and Ethan was her superior once more. He maintained a painfully professional demeanour around her from there on out. Ava wasn't doing too great during that time.

And when her intern year came to an end, he disappeared. He wasn't answering her calls nor her texts and her trips to his apartment were fruitless. She found out he was out of the country through WHO's Instagram account. She stopped bothering afterwards.

Ava shook her head, red curls bouncing over her shoulders. Dwelling on the past wasn't helpful. Especially when the Ethan from her memories didn't correlate with the Ethan she was currently working with. Her most recent conversations with him left a sour taste in her mouth.

The conference room wasn't as empty as she expected.

“Heading out?” Tobias sent her a warm smile.

“I've some free time to kill.”

He nodded in understanding. “Holding up okay?”

Ava hesitated. It occurred to her that he was the only person she was truly comfortable with on the team. The only one who'd never underestimated her or made her feel lesser.Tobias was the person who either supported her suggestions or countered them with his own logical arguments and used both as teaching opportunities.

“I've been through worse,” she replied, shrugging non-committally.

He scowled. “What Harper did was uncalled for.”

Ava offered him a wry smile. “I have a history, don't you see?”

“Oh you mean the history of being civil to Bloom even though you want to punch his face in?” he asked innocently.

A laugh bubbled up in her chest and he soon followed with his own deep chuckle.

“There's this place downtown.” He sobered up but was still grinning. “One of my favourites, if you want to check it out.”

“What's in it for me?” Ava raised a playful eyebrow.

His eyes darkened, tongue briefly flickering out. “Good music, good books. We could get dinner after.”

Ava swallowed. “Sounds fantastic.”

Tobias' intense look softened. “It's a date,” he said cheekily.

She laughed again and swatted at his arm. “Lead the way, Romeo, before I change my mind.”

Bantering with him was easier than it should've been. Knowing how laid-back he could be when comfortable made her notice more about how he carried himself around the rest of the team. It gave her a small thrill to be able to witness that side of him.

Tobias drove her to a time-worn shop tucked away between a colourful diner and a boarded-up building. An old sign hung over the entrance reading The Starlight Den. The outer walls were covered in messy chalky drawings and splashes of peeling paint, broken crayons and plastic buckets sitting to one side. He laid a hand on her lower back, gently guiding her through the battered wooden door.

“I used to come here all the time as a kid,” he commented, glancing fondly around the shop.

Neutral colours predominated with the occasional vibrant hue flashing here and there. Bookshelves lined the left side, brimming with works from classics to comic books. Customers could settle down on various armchairs and sofas, reading under the light of several dimmed lamps. Ava slid her eyes from the makeshift coffee bar to the vintage posters on the opposite wall. A soft tune drifted from the gramophone in the corner. Neat stacks of vinyl records were arranged in polished boxes in the centre. A counter held several players for general use nearby.

“This is a dream come true,” Ava marvelled, running her fingertips across the book spines.

Tobias hummed, reaching to pluck a comic from the shelf. He presented it to her with a flourish. Spider-Man was holding a man clad in green on the cover.

“First introduction to Spidey. Also the first comic I ever read,” he disclosed, absently thumbing through the pages.

“I didn't know you read comics.”

Tobias cocked his head. “Haven't read them in a long while but they were a big part of my childhood.”

Ava cast a look about. “I can see why you'd like to come here.”

Two teenagers were hanging around a record player, giggling quietly to each other, while a sharply dressed man made small talk with the handsome man behind the register. The overall atmosphere was quite cosy. It felt a bit like home. When she returned her wandering gaze to Tobias, he offered her a knowing smile.

“I have an idea,” he announced with a quick clap of his hands. “We each pick a book and a record for the other. I have a player back at my apartment.”

Ava crossed her arms. “Is this a ploy to get me into your bed, Carrick?”

He raised his palms up in mock surrender. “Absolutely not. Just a ploy to get a pretty woman eating take-out on my couch.”

“From that diner next door?”

“Rosa makes the best burgers and milkshakes in Boston.” He gave a solemn nod, cracking up in the following beat.

Ava contemplated him. “It's a date.”

He lit up with a boyish smile.

She didn't know much about his likes and dislikes given that all their interactions revolved around their work. Browsing the bookcases, she opted to get him a copy of The Little Prince. She remembered her papa reading it to her when she was sick or when grief was heavier than most days. She picked up A Day at the Raceson her way to the counter.

“Don't peek,” Tobias warned after their purchases were done. “I'm going to get our food and then we can head back.”

“I want nuggets.” Ava blushed when her stomach growled.

He patted her head. “As you wish, m'lady.”

Ava watched him walk away, unable to remember the last time she was this happy. Tobias was so carefree. He didn't allow their work to burden him, always trying to finding the silver lining in each case, and refused to let it interfere with his life outside the hospital. It was a breath of fresh air, compared to her previous relationship with Ethan. Tobias was light where Ethan was dark.

The ride back to his flat was mostly quiet. He tapped on the wheel along with the song playing on the radio—she vaguely recognised it as being a new Ariana Grande single. She, on the other hand, was more occupied with staring out the window and trying to control her nerves. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach, making her almost want to throw up. Tobias was undeniably attractive, charming and witty. And they were going to be alone at his place.

Ava choked on air.

He was quick to lay a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, hey, I got you.” At her lack of response, he slid his hand further and began to rub her back, eyes briefly leaving the road to look her over.

“I'm good,” she gasped.

His touch continued to burn her skin until the car was parked in his garage.

Tobias' flat was messier than she expected but not in the dirty sense of the word. It was a sort of organised chaos that breathed life into the walls. The coffee table peeked from beneath a mountain of medical journals, two blankets were thrown haphazardly on the couch with a pillow half-fallen on the carpet, like he had dozed off while reading. The telly was still on as well and she paused to watch Jessica Aniston and Matt LeBlanc acting on the screen.

He steered her towards the kitchen.

“I forgot to clean, sorry.” He seemed unusually sheepish.

“Mine's not much better, believe me,” she reassured him, squeezing his arm. She took the food bags from him and set them on the table. “Kitchen or living room?”

“Living room!” he called out from the pantry, coming out with a package of napkins and a container of assorted candy.

He had stored away the blankets and the pillow by the time she brought the food to the coffee table, journals stashed away in the corner bookcase. Ava noticed that he also changed into a looser tee, his biceps highlighted underneath the artificial lighting. He grabbed their purchases from the shop and turned to her with a bright smile.

“I realised we don't actually know each other that well,” he said, grabbing the book from the bag, “and I would like to remedy that.”

Ava accepted the gift, lips quirking up at the sight of the blue cover. “I've never read The Great Gatsby,” she informed.

His smile widened. “Let me know what you think when you're done, yeah?”

“I got you this one.” God she was nervous. “I, uh—I didn't know what you liked so I figured I'd give you one of my favourites. After my mum died... my dad used to read it to me as a kid.”

Tobias met her gaze and she was surprised to see him so serious. “I—Thank you, Ava. It means a lot that you would share that with me.”

She needed to look away. Was he getting closer?

Her stomach growled again.

“Eat,” he murmured, slowly leaning back. “I'll put the records on.”

He returned to the couch as the beginnings of Dancing Queenfilled the room. Ava beamed.

“How did you know?”

He popped a fry in his mouth. “I may have cheated on this one. Claire told me you were a fan.”

The mention of her friend warmed her heart. “I didn't know you and C were buddies.”

Tobias rubbed the back of his neck. “We're not, not really. I, um, went to ask her how you were after what happened. Anna and Hemgrove were gone already, so...”

His concern sent the butterflies into a frenzy. Ava focused on her burger so he wouldn't see the deep red staining her cheeks.

It was only two episodes into Friends that she noticed the missing fries in her plate. An indignant yelp was muffled by the food in her mouth. Tobias blindly reached for another one but she slapped his hand away, earning her a surprised squawk from the man. Ava made a move for his plate and was stopped when he put his arm between them, lifting the other up so she wouldn't touch his food.

“Oi! That's not fair!” she protested, not realising she was half-sitting on his lap as she tried to get her fries back.

“All's fair when you're hungry, sweetheart,” he retorted, laughing at her worthless attempts.

The loud sound of porcelain breaking was unmistakable. In an effort to get closer, she had pressed against his chest, their bodies practically glued together, and the twist of his wrist weakened his grip on the plate. Ava sunk into him in defeat and promptly peeped as her groin made contact with his.

“Shit, sorry Av—nghh...” He cut off with a strangled moan.

Ava hurried to relieve the pressure of her thigh on his crotch, feeling mortified.

“I'm sorry—” “Wait—” they spoke at the same time, both floundering.

“Just—wait.” Tobias held onto her hips, heaving out a frustrated sigh.

She would never admit to anyone that no, she very much did not want to move.

Except maybe to the girls, who would most definitely grill her tomorrow.

They remained in that exact position for a couple silent moments. Neither sure what to say nor how to act upon the revelation that they were entirely too comfortable physically for two people who were supposed to be just work acquaintances.

Up close, his eyes looked more green than brown. Ava told herself that she had bigger things to worry about.

But it was a pretty colour.

“I really want to kiss you right now,” he quietly confessed. “I have to know, though. Is—is there anything between you and Ethan?”

She let out a shaky breath, touching her forehead to his. “Not since last year.”

He gave a short nod, raising a hand to cup her face. “Could there be anything between us?”

“Why don't you kiss me and find out?” she whispered against his lips.

She felt his smile before he did.

a.n. ahh so the date is finally here!! I’m sorry it took a while to post, but I wanted the date to be just right! I hope you enjoy this written part and please do tell me what you think! This is only slightly edited, so I’m sorry in advance if there are any mistakes.

You nibbled at the dry skin on your lips as you stood and studied yourself in the mirror. Taking in your outfit, you let out a small sigh and ran a hand through your hair.

“You look great,” Seulgi smiles from behind you.

With your laptop positioned in front of her, you glanced at her through the mirror and smiled slightly as she typed away.

“You sure?”

Closing the laptop lid, Seulgi looks up at you and continues to smile.

“Of course! You’ll knock his socks off!”

Laughing at her expression, you shake your head and turn to her. He would be here soon and it was like the nerves were eating away at your stomach. You couldn’t explain it.

On the one hand, you were excited, but on the other, you were scared. This was something that you’d never really thought about, something that you could have never seen coming.

Seulgi notices the nervous look that washed over your face and gets up from her place on your bed. She takes the few steps towards you and links your fingers with hers.

“It’ll be okay y/n, no matter what happens tonight, you’ll both be okay,” squeezing her fingers lightly, you try your best to smile.

“I know, I just—...” you pause and take a moment to think. “I don’t want us to be awkward.”

“Dude, he loves you to no end,” Seulgi laughs, pulling you in for a hug. “There is nothing on this earth that you could do that would make him love you any less.”

You don’t wait to return the hug as you wrap your arms around her waist and rest your head against her shoulder.

“Just listen to your heart and see what it tells you,” Seulgi says. “If anything, at least you gave it a shot.”

The sound of Yoongi knocking at your door was enough to break the hug. Pulling away from you, Seulgi sends you a comforting smile.

“I’ll be here when you get back and you can tell me all about it,”

Nodding your head once more, you pick up your phone and keys and slip them into your large coat pockets before making your way to the door.

“Hey,” you smile as you open it to see Yoongi standing there, flowers in hand.

“Hi, sorry,” he quickly enters. “I got you these.”

Taking them, you bring them to your nose and take a quick sniff. Your cheeks were already beginning to turn pink— you wanted to blame it on the fact you were wearing your coat inside.

“Thank you, they’re beautiful, I’ll just put them in the kitchen.”

As you do that, Seulgi comes out from your bedroom and smiles at the older boy.

“I want her back by midnight,” she laughs. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

Rolling your eyes, you push her away slightly when you come close and click your tongue.

“Shut up, don’t you have Hobi to bug?”

Seulgi’s lips form into a pout and she shakes her head.

“Nope, all on my lonesome tonight, so you better have a good time and bring her back safe you hear me?” she says, turning her attention to Yoongi. “Now you kids go have fun.”

Yoongi laughs and you roll your eyes again for the second time that night.

“Yes mum,” Yoongi opens your front door and before you leave, you turn back to Seulgi with a smile. “Help yourself to anything, I’ll message you when I’m on my way back.”

“Yes yes,” she says pushing you out the door. “Now go, have fun!”

Yoongi hadn’t told you where you were going. He kept saying how it was a surprise and that you’d love it. How you’d love it so much that it would break any doubts you had over surprises in the first place.

You didn’t bother to correct him, or to argue, so you sat in silence as the radio played. Your nerves began to wash away just from his presence alone.

It was nice, he was nice. Everything was nice.

After about half an hour of driving, yoongi pulls into a small dinner. You raise an eyebrow as you look at him when he turns off the car and he just smiles.

“Part one, food” he smiles.

Entering the small establishment, yoongi guides you up to the menus and you take a few moments to go over and decide what you wanted. Once you were done, he made his way to the counter and ordered the food.

“Do you want me to find a seat?” You ask, only for him to shake his head.

“No, I got it to go,” noticing your confused gaze, he just laughs to himself. “You’ll see.”

It didn’t take long for the food to be cooked and served. Maybe because it was so empty, it was the only thing they had to do. So yoongi took the bag and you both made your way back to his car and once you were inside, he passed you over the bag.

“It smells so good,” you say, peaking at the contents inside.

“I know, but just wait, it’ll be worth it”

“Okay, if you say so,” you mumble. You try your best to keep your eyes off your food as it would make you more hungry, but the smell just made it ten times more difficult.

“We’re almost there, I promise” yoongi take his eyes off the road, but as you look over you see a small smile playing at his features.

“Okay, I believe you.”

It was another ten minutes or so before yoongi pulled the car over and placed it in park before turning off the engine. He opened his door, got out and made his way to the boot before opening it and pulling out something.

“You coming?” He asks, looking up at you through the gap.

“Where are we?” You ask, exiting the car as you made sure to bring the food with you.

“Just come on,” he closes the boot and holds out his hand for you to take, which you do and he begins to lead you a few meters away from his car.

It’s when you stop walking that you notice the blanket clutched in his one hand. He lets go of your hand before he shakes out the blanket and places it on the ground.

“I thought,” He sits and motions for you to join him, which you do. “We could eat and watch the stars.”

You were thankful that it was getting darker as it hid your blushing cheeks and to try and combat this, you focused your attention on the food.

“Should we- should we eat?”

“Sure,”

So you both quickly tuck into the food that was slowly beginning to go cold. Even when it was cold it was still nice, you made a mental note to ask yoongi how he found that place and how you should go again.

Once you’re both done, you place the rubbish in the original bag before you both lie down on the blanket and look up at the stars. It was so quiet, so peaceful. You never knew that yoongi could be like this when it came to dates- this thoughtful and pure.

It was after a moment or two that you finally rolled over to face him. Resting your head on your arm, you watch him silently as he watched the stars.

“You good?” He asks, smiling to himself. He kept his head facing straight up, but it wasn’t long before he couldn’t wait any longer and faced you.

“This is really nice,” You smile. “Who knew you were such a thoughtful guy.”

Yoongi laughs and the presence of his gummy smile made your heart jump. It was the smile you didn’t see often, but when you did, boy was it special.

“I guess next time I’ll just have to pull out all the stops.”

“You mean this isn’t even your best date idea?” you gasp quietly.

He shrugs to himself and rolls back over to look at the sky.

“I guess you’ll have to wait and find out huh?”

As you continue to watch him, your smile doesn’t falter. You sigh a quiet, but content sigh and hum.

“Yeah, I will.”

Who knows how long you guys had been lying there. Most of the time you had spent there was spent in silence. However, that silence wasn’t a bad thing. It wasn’t awkward, it wasn’t boring or bad. It was nice, it was content, it was in its own way magical. It was mystical, it was like a viewing, well it was a viewing of that was out there to be seen in the universe. It was your friendship with yoongi defined into one evening- one moment.

It was rare, beautiful and something memorable.

When you began to feel cold and see your breath in the air, yoongi sat up and you both decided on that it was a good time as any to return home. So you got back into his car, the same radio channel played and again it was content.

You got back to your apartment and yoongi made sure to walk you back up to your door like a gentleman. Before you parted ways, you turned to him with a smile.

“Thank you for tonight, it was lovely,” he smiles back and nods his head. You could see his cheeks tint a light pink colour and it made you giggle.

“Thank you also,” he looks you in the eyes. “However, can I do one more thing?”

“Which is?”

“Can I kiss you?”

Your cheeks quickly match his own and you nod your head once, letting him to it was okay, and without missing a beat, he leans in and connects your lips. It was over in a matter of moments and as you pulled away, you knew by the look in his eyes. You knew because you felt it too.

There was no spark.

You a Marvel fan at all? If so, thoughts on WandaVision?

Casually, yes! I watched WandaVision at 2am every Friday, so you'd think I was a hard-core fan but mostly I just need something to watch and I am keen on seeing what this next phase of the Marvel MCU looks like.

I think WandaVision made me care about my least favorite avengers, which is a triumph in itself. I loved what they did with the decades of sitcoms, and I thought the casting was excellent.

Elizabeth Olson and Paul Bettany were excellent. They are incredibly talented and did wonders with the big stage given to them. The standout performance was Elizabeth in episode 8, she really showed her acting chops.

I think the runtime needs an extra 10-15 minutes, and thought the same about the Mandalorian. The episodes go by so fast and feels like a series of moments that are hastily ran through rather than given room to breathe. Episode 8 was a good example of what can be accomplished when there's a very focused approach to the story and it lets a key element play out to the fullest.

Wanda deserved the recognition of her power and grief. The Avengers movies were so full of characters and plot, sometimes it was easy to just write her off as the sad accent girl who accidentally did a bad and caused a big mess. When really she's got more depth than that. This fleshed all of that out and gave us a good look at who she is and who she may become.

I loved Monica, Darcy, and Jimmy. If they do want to take Jimmy and give him a spin off, I think you could EASILY sell that. Use him to explore some of the weird and quirky sides of the Marvel universe. Introduce weird shit, like a comical X Files, try some stuff out, get weird.

Kat Dennings is one of my few celeb crushes. She is so good. I love me a quirky science girl with sass, Darcy was a delight.

Monica was awesome. I loved her, and love what they're doing with her. Very interested in where she's going. She's also damn gorgeous.

I really adored the surprise antagonist and think you could do a spinoff with them, even keep the WandaVision blast from the past era theme and do historical one shot stories that explore magic shit we only know a little about. Basically any excuse to get that character on camera more is worth it.

The S.W.O.R.D. angle was weak in my eyes. The antagonist was one note and I was waiting for some sort of reveal that never came. There's a chance that there's more to come that will shed light on it and with that added context it'll feel better but...eh.

In the end, I think the series is a solid 7/10, and could have been even better if they were a little more ambitious I think. And some of the red herrings feel so hollow. Again, maybe those are seeds planted for the future, but for real...the boner joke payoff? All of that for a boner joke? That's rude as hell. Lmfao

WandaVision: When you can’t let go of that robo-lovin.

So, I just finished watching "WandaVision", and I must say, right off the bat

- I LOVED IT!

Disney Plus is finally paying off. I'm in the group of peeps who got DP, not for the mouse, but for the ones whom the mouse is in bed with, and most recently on Mickey's playtime Marvel List - Wanda Maximoff and her robo-boy toy VISION... or is that “THE Vision”? - that seems kinda ostentatious, but whatever.

When I first heard that Wanda was getting a series, I said "Who cares?" I don't care bout no Wanda! What has she been other than a weird pest?

Let's review:

She tried to kill the Avengers, she accidentally injures and kills innocent people, she was getting in the way, so Tony Stark had to get his CPU (Vision) to babysit her, she falls in love with the CPU - can we talk about how strange this is? I didn't say wrong, just different, cuz honestly, we may be headed there soon. That movie "Her" might be a reality with how tech is going these days.

But, imagine I come to your home and fall in love with your laptop (which messes everything up for you with all your devices and your social media), THEN (as Wanda did with Vision), I run off on some romantic journey with all of your devices. Imagine how Tony would have felt, if he was still with us.

She had one job when it came to Thanos, and it ended up not mattering.

Then, went full rage on the wrong Thanos.

Idk if that’s a look (Thanos) pain, release, of he’s listening to his jam. Kinda looks like he’s saying “JESUS”. But, Wanda is pissed.

Wanda: "You took everything from me!"

Thanos: "Lady, I don't even know you!"

I didn't care about Wanda. But, damn, Marvel is so good that in one episode they made me care; one trailer, really.

If you had not seen the trailer for this series, you might be confused by the first episode.

You might even ask yourself - "What the bleep is this nonsense?!" We want heroes vs villains. We want super-powered explosions. We want capes, ridiculously tight clothes, bulky armor, and anything else that makes no sense to fight in.

You're giving me "Bewitched"?

I DID see the trailer, so I knew going in that it would be a slow burn with some nostalgia, some quirks, and some eeriness; right up my alley.

The change in Tv decade styles btw *chef kiss*

I figured that they'd be trapped in some mysterious, magical world - which they are...

Unless you're super geeky with the funny books, there's no way you'll see what's coming in this mystery.

And it IS a mystery, not only to the audience, but for the characters involved in this show. Don't nobody know what the hell is going on.

Rambo

Yeah, it's actually Monica Rambeau,

but... admit it, some of you kept thinking about Rambo too, right?? No offense to this actress, but I'd rather see old man Sly play Rambo, and HIM be in this mysterious WandaVision town. Let's get Disney a lil bloody. Wishful thinking, I suppose.

Marvel WILL BE venturing into multiple universes soon, so perhaps Rambo finds his way to team up with The Punisher? Huh?? YEAH!

But, no... Rambeau (meh No personality, but whatever).

Randall Park -

He's that person we all know who has made us laugh so much in life, that they don't even need to say anything anymore; you look at them and laugh. I love this dude!

Kat Dennings -

I remember liking her more in the Thor movies. I found her annoying, this time around. She joins the mystery to figure tech stuff out, and she's a doctor or something (don't you forget it!). She also asks the team she just meets to get her some coffee, and acts like they're disrespecting HER, by their lack of response. I know she's a doctor and all, but damn! Imagine some electrician comes to your place to serve YOU, they're condescending to you, and then they ask you for some coffee. Get the hell outta here!

Oh, and there's a dude named “Director Dick”. That's my name for him, but the name fits.

The people in this town are acting out as if they've been scripted for some show. And all of these characters, AND US, get to figure it out together - through antics from different times in Tv culture.

Times sure were different back in the day:

No social justice issues implanted or cursing or sex or drugs... now, I'm not saying it was a better time, just a different one :) A time when dad jokes ruled! Simple times! Ignorance was bliss. But, it kinda wasn't - not really.

It's like having an animal die on your property somewhere, and it starts to stink. You COULD find the truth of the stench... or light candles everywhere. Some really strong candles - maybe some of those Gwyneth Paltrow candles.

Though the stench might get covered up, the problem is still there. At some point, your kids could find the dead rotting animal... maybe start playing with it... you get the point.

In this show, the townspeople's minds have been taken over by someone or something, and it's torturous for them. So... bliss on the surface, but... not so much, going deeper. I tell you all of this, plus great production in each epi, a good slow-burn mystery, and fun with comic characters in a way we haven't seen before on screen, and hell yeah - Grade: A series.

People, Wanda is the villain here. I'm not sure if that's the message the writers are trying to convey or not, but I don't care; she is the clear villain here.

Here’s Wanda reading some Hell book, conjuring some dark spirits - nbd.

We are rooting for her throughout this show; even after we find out that she has been (even if not maliciously) controlling every one, we still root for her.

I'm not saying that's bad, but we can't forget about what she has done! Remember, I said that the mind control was torturous for the townspeople.

There's a very emotional moment at the end of this series between Wanda and Vision, and between them and their kids (yeah, they have kids... that's a whole other thing). This moment is well done and touching. There's even a bad ass fight between Wanda and the "true... villain"? - of this story. I'll get to her in a sec (There’s a badass Vision fight scene as well).

I loved all of that! But, at the end of the day...

I know Wanda is grieving and all, we all grieve, but we all don't, in our grief, take a whole town hostage, torture the people, all while playing house with our family. That's kinda sick, no??

Are we doing a girl-power thing? or a “witches are people too” thing? or “but she’s doing it all for her family” thing (yeah, they’re not actually real, but whatever)? I don’t know.

I'm not sure that we know what a villain is anymore. It used to be clear - the guy with the beard was the bad guy, or the guy wearing the black outfit was the bad guy, or the people who aren't Americans are the bad guys :)

But, movies like "Joker" and "Deadpool" and Harley's joint have confused some.

Who else would be the villain? There's a character, the villain (i guess), a witch named Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn

Here she is saying “I’m the villain? Really? What about her?!!”

- she's excellent btw; def the highlight of this show; her and Paul Bettany's hair game.

But, let's compare:

Agatha:

betrays her coven back in the day, sure, but why you bringing up old shit?

She allows Wanda to play out this fantasy for a while, and even played along. She could have just killed her when she was ignorant; that's what I would have done. She eventually shows Wanda the truth (granted, she then wants Wanda's power, but hey, everything has a price. And for all we know, she would have used all of that power to... cure the worlds diseases or something... though prob not:). Annnd maybe she killed an imaginary puppy. Convo for another time: if you kill something that's not real, does it matter??

That's it!

She didn't (like Wanda): abduct a town, torture its people, bring Vision back from the dead (kinda), endanger soldiers who were just doing their jobs, create weird fantasies (And did she have sexy time with previously dead, fake Vision? This thing gets even weirder if she did. But, let's not go down that path.) Oh, and she magically punted a black woman (Rambo) the length of a football field just for her asking Wanda some questions.

When the townspeople finally regain their minds (Lord knows how long it's been), they look at her with disdain, and I don't blame them. And what does Wanda do?? - shrug, put on a hoodie, and fly off - to break into somebody's home and read some devil book.

Where’s cancel culture in this universe?

I know she made us feel, but I ask again, who's the villain here?

Still Grade A stuff for me (again, I loved this!), but c'mon, people.

We get a glimpse of Captain Marvel 2 as well. My fingers are crossed. I actually liked the first movie. But, many others did not, and one of the reasons - Captain Marvel doesn't have much of a personality, and another - she's too powerful (no risk).

So, to answer the critics, we have Monica Rambeau - another ridiculously super-powered hero, with no personality. So, two unrelatable characters flying around in space, as Sam L Jackson tries not to curse. But, if Marvel can make me care about evil ass Wanda, I'll still hold out hope for Capt Marvel 2.

I’m relatively new to marvel and I was wondering why you don’t like Hemsworth? I absolutely understand and agree with not liking Waititi (in terms of how he progressed the plot in Ragnarok and how he treated Loki and other characters)... but if there’s something either or both Hemsworth or Waititi did that made you/the fandom not like them, what is it?

Hi, Nonnie.

Ok, so strap in. Cuz this will probably get long.

First off, it’s not so much that I don’t like Hemsworth. It’s more I’m disappointed in his progression as an actor and celebrity in Hollywood. Frankly, when I first saw Thor no one in the cast really stuck with me except Kat Dennings bc I knew her already and loved her work. (Yeah I knew who Natalie Portman was but I’ve had issues with her since Star Wars — long story). It wasn’t until Avengers that I really caught on to the Hiddlesmania. In those days, 2012 and up through The Dark World, there was a very sweet, very genuine bromance going on between Hemzy and Hiddles. They really were “brothers from another mother.” They were adorable together. I remember in one press event with the entire cast Hemzy and Hiddles were making faces at each other across the table and when a reporter asked Hiddles who his fave Avenger was, before he could answer, Hemzy shouted, “Your brother!” There was a very beautiful connection between them. What happened to that? It’s anyone’s guess, but here’s what happened for me.

Leading up to the release of TDW, I might have found it weird that the, like, fourth-billed actor, and the previous film’s “villain,” was chosen to basically lead the global promotion. It was Hiddles, by his lonesome, in Mexico, Australia, China, etc. And he killed it. And it started pretty much with his appearance at Comic-Con that July. We ALL remember that. Why wasn’t Hemzy participating in any of this promo? Idk. I’m pretty sure he was filming Snow White & the Huntsman, or something. Still, it was interesting and telling that Marvel chose to utilize Hiddles’ very apparent popularity. Hell, they chose not to kill Loki because of his popularity.

So it would be about three years before Hemzy and Hiddles came back together again to film Ragnarok. And between that time, Hemzy filmed six movies and Hiddles filmed eight. During that time, also, Hiddles pulled a 180° on everybody and participated in what was the most ridiculous, career-destroying antic he could ever participate in. If you don’t know what I mean, just Google Tom and the Summer of 2016. It’s my opinion that that whole event had a damaging affect on not only Tom’s image in the industry, but I think it made his colleagues and friends question how well they really knew him. And I think it hindered his bankability for filmmakers. Basically it wasn’t a good move for him. The moment I first noticed a change in Hemzy’s behavior with Hiddles was at a Wizard World convention in the middle of the PR nightmare and the beginning of filming Ragnarok in 2016.

During their panel onstage, Hemzy seemed oddly quiet and tense even. He didn’t seem all that interested in being there or answering questions. And Hiddles was like an anxious puppy, overcompensating for Hemzy’s lackluster demeanor. I’m not the only one who’s noticed it, but no one can really pinpoint why. Was Hemzy upset that Tom was “dating” that chick? Was he upset at how obviously out of character it was? I’m guessing there was more to it because the filming of Ragnarok, and it’s result, speak volumes about what Hemzy was apparently feeling.

There are clips and interviews from the set of Raganarok and during promo with Waitidiot and Hemzy where they are very vocal about making sure Hemzy was the star of the movie “because it’s called Thor.” Waitidiot even referred to Loki as a goth orphan or something. Overall they were very critical of and condescending toward Tom and Loki. In the few interviews Hemzy and Hiddles did together, that old spark between them wasn’t there. There’s a lot about Ragnarok I don’t like. Hela was underused, Valkyrie was underused, Skurge deserved better. But, of course, what I hate most about it is the awful way they treat Loki through the whole thing. The way Thor became a bigger bully than he already was. The way he just wanted to wash his hands of Loki — which continued with the fucking Russo brothers who couldn’t put their stupid heads together long enough to realize Loki deserved to have his revenge on Thanos just like Nebula and even Wanda did. Loki deserved to be on that field fighting next to his brother, dammit.

Anyway….since Ragnarok promo i was kind of side-eyeing Hemzy. He literally behaved like a spoiled brat who found a friend who believed his bullshit (feeling overshadowed by Loki; which I think extended to feeling inferior in some way to Tom, a very gifted, educated actor compared to Hemzy who kind of fell into acting. There’s nothing wrong with where Hemzy started; but his choices in the last few years speak for themselves. 🤷🏽‍♀️) and they teamed up to bully the brainy guy. So then Infinity War promo came around and Hiddles was paired with Sebastian Stan and Letitia Wright and Paul Bettany, I think. I loved him with Sebastian (I ship WinterFrost), but it was weird that he wouldn’t be paired up at some point with Hemzy. But then Hemzy wasn’t doing any promo — wait what?? Yeah. Hemzy skipped out on Shanghai I believe. Then he said he couldn’t be at another place bc he got in an accident and injured his elbow ??? Then the next day he posted an IG live where he’s driving?? And his elbow is loosely wrapped in an ACE bandage??? That actually falls off during the video?? And then he was supposed to be somewhere for another promo, said he couldn’t make it, and was spotted camping off the coast of Australia with Matt Damon’s family??? It was all very suspish.

Speaking of Damon, don’t get me started on the bullshit scene in the last Jay & Silent Bob movie where he literally trashed Tom and his portrayal of Loki. Fuck off, Damon. Go suck Ben Affleck’s dick already.

Anyway. All the Ragnarok stuff and his behavior during IW promo and his seeming dismissal of Hiddles completely has just rubbed me the wrong way. Added to that, it just feels like Hemzy isn’t really in the business to hone his craft. It feels like he’s in it for the money. And yeah that’s a great benefit of acting in Hollywood. But he doesn’t seem to choose quality roles anymore. I liked him in Blackhat. I liked Rush. He was really good in Bad Times at the Royale, but it feels like all he wants to do now are formula action movies with no depth, no growth, where he just has to flex his muscles and give a charming smile. Which is fine but that gets tired after awhile (just ask Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude VanDamme). So right now, I want nothing to do with Love and Thunder — which is one of the stupidest movie names I’ve heard in awhile. And frankly I just don’t want to watch Hemzy not try to be his best. If I want mindless action with no real plot, I’ve got the Fast and Furious franchise. 🤷🏽‍♀️

A Review of “WandaVision (2021)”

WandaVision is the first in Marvel's line of TV streaming shows. Wanda and Vision haven't been in the spotlight since Age Of Ultron, so a series fully dedicated to these two were very interesting. "Set three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Wanda Maximoff and Vision are living an idyllic suburban life in the town of Westview, New Jersey, trying to conceal their true natures. As they begin to enter new decades and encounter television tropes, the couple suspects that things are not as they seem". I'm a big MCU fan and after Endgame Vision was still pretty much dead so this series bringing him back alive piqued my interest. So is this a great start for MCU TV shows or a big slip up for Marvel?

Firstly, the concept of a Superhero Sitcom with a bit of mystery is such a unique concept for the Superhero genre. Marvel is one of the biggest names nowadays and they make very entertaining movies, but it can feel a bit formulaic. However, WandaVision takes a risk by doing something drastically different and it executes it marvellously. I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of Sitcoms but some great moments gave me quite the chuckle. WandaVision goes through multiple eras of sitcoms from "The Dick Van Dyke Show" to "Full House" to "Malcolm in the Middle" to "The Office" and they replicate it very well. The showrunner knew their Sitcoms and WandaVision conveys this.

Additionally, I love how they use different cameras, different colours and different resolutions for what Sitcom era they are on or changes to a cinematic look for characters outside the Sitcom stuff. There is also clearly a lot of work put into the set design and costumes to replicate these eras as well. Near the last couple of episodes when it goes full Marvel movie there are some great VFX for the action set-pieces as well.

The characters in this series are also all great. Wanda (Elisabeth Olsen) returns and is a lot more on edge compared to the movies. Likewise, Vision (Paul Bettany) was always the cool but slightly awkward Robot guy in the movies but here feels a lot more personality than we have ever seen before. Both Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany did a great job with these characters in the movies but here they genuinely give some of the best performance I've seen in any Marvel project. Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) returns from the Thor movies and is now more than just a side lady who quips a lot but feels more knowledgeable and helpful albeit still very funny. Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) returns from Ant-Man and the Wasp and gets to be more on the heroic side and does some cool stuff. Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) returns from Captain Marvel and is now all grown up and played by a different actor who does a phenomenal job in giving a cool, badass character. Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) is a new supporting character who is very funny as the nosy neighbour with a high libido.

The story is also very engaging with the subtle weirdness that occurs in each episode. I won't go into spoiler territory but there is some great twist in this series. Some emotional moments were very effective in hitting me in the core, especially the last couple of episodes. I also really love that there are adverts that were created specifically for the series that adds another layer to the titular character and the story.

Nonetheless, I have some minor gripes with the series and that it is a very slow burn of a series. It takes quite a while for it to kick into gear in my opinion. The first 3 episodes don't have much happening and it is understandable because the series meant to start more on the sitcom side of things but it does get to points where you're hoping whether something will happen or not. There are also some things in the story near the end that were kind of underwhelming. Without spoiling it is a revelation of a certain character and another character who just appears and then mysteriously disappears for some reason. It just raised a lot of eyebrows in my opinion. Additionally, there is one supporting character I just feel is very weak in terms of character and motives. Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) is the acting director of S.W.O.R.D who just has vague reasons for what he does and I wish they gave more backstory and depth to him because in the end he just feels like an obstacle. After all, the plot needed it to be.

Overall, this is a great start for MCU TV streaming shows. WandaVision does something new with the genre and delivers on it. It also successfully makes us love Wanda and Vision even more. Like most Marvel movies, the ending leads to a lot of interesting possibilities. I thought that Endgame might be it for me for the MCU but WandaVision manages to convince me to continue to keep track of the MCU. If this is the quality of Marvel TV shows then I am looking forward to the next one.
