To clarify, this would be while they are dating, but he and the Reader have a difficult relationship because of Ed's habit of being a cold person. He very much loves them, but he has such a hard time displaying it in a kind way, if that makes sense?

●Dating Edward came with rough pacthes, a lot of them. You were used to it. That's what you expected when you got into this relationship. What healthy relationship dosen't have it's struggles quarrels?

●Sure he sometimes made snide remarks, got absorbed in his work, sometimes forgot you were there while he was scheming to take down batman, and didn't pay any attention when you talked here and there. But that's just Edward. He still loved you. He just had trouble expressing it.

●Now I'm assuming your relationship isn't a secret if another rouge knows about it. One of you couldn't keep your mouth shut, bragging about one another! After awhile You two figured you might as well meet the rest of the rouges gallery.

●One way or another, for whatever ryhme or reason. You've peaked the interest of more than just Edward. Honor amoung thieves? Well that dosen't apply here.

●At first it seems like the rouges just being friendly, having a nice, chat. Maybe just a bit too much so. While you may not bat an eye, Edward is no doubt giving then judgemental and skeptical glances. They were being too friendly to you.

●They start to pry into you and Eddie's relationship, insinuating things, planting ideas in your head. 'He's so cold to you. He barely seems to pay attention to you. Are you really happy in this relationship? Does he really love you? He's a narcissistic, he's probably just using to feed his own ego and need for control!" And other similar sentiments.

●Once Edward cacthes wind of what they're doing, whether he hears them speaking, or he notices a shift in your behavior. He's livid. Clenching his fist in rage. He wants so badly to scream, to tell them off, to get rid of them- to.. he restrains himself. He can't be brash. That'd just prove their point wouldn't it?

●The words they've been saying eat away at him. He loved you.. he knew that for sure.. you surely knew that, right? Right? He hoped you did. Was he really that cold? That ignorant?

●The next few days Edward seems to want to hog your attention more than usual. He's a lot more bold with his affection. Being a bit more handsy, complementing you more, and dishing out a few more 'I love you's than normal. It feels nice.. but if feels out of character for him.

●Upon confrontation of him acting different, he'll be defensive. He just wanted to give you more attention that's all- that's only half of it however. When you push it enough he caves in. Admitting that he felt he wasn't expressing his love for you clearly enough, that he feared you might leave him for the other rouge, that you were believing what they had said- How did he know? Well shit he didn't mean to say that much.

●Fine, fine. He'll fully fess up to the fact he overheard your conversation. He's fumbling over his words trying to explain how he loves you, even if can't always express it. How much you mean to him. He has some difficulty due to being essentially emotionally constipated. He'll need some re-assurance that he got his point across, and that you won't leave him. That you don't view him or yourself as any less.

●Once you two manage to work through your issues, he's at ease again and not wracked with worries of you abandoning him.

● Now time for him to deal with.. the other part of the issues. The other rouge. No doubt next time he sees them he'll be making snide comments and berating them, and what do you know the riddler bots suddenly are far more aggressive to that villian! How strange. Riddler claims its supposedly an "error" that he'll fix later.

Tim's health starts getting much better now that Bruce is there. He's started letting Dick leave without panicking and even Kon and Bart can leave at the same time, just so long as Bruce is there. Tim refuses to let go of Bruce for days, hugging him or holding his hand or gripping his sleeve. The moment he's not touching Bruce he will start have *serious* breakdowns. A screaming laughter that can take hours to stop. So Bruce never let's go of his son.

Which can be a bit of a problem because that means Gothem currently has at most two Bats and one is in a wheelchair as upposed to well... the entire Rouges Gallery. And it's not like other heroes can step in. Wonder Woman kicking the shit out of Killer Croc in Crime Alley would lead to basically everyone going "the Bat is gone it's time to play!"

But all of them being gone is fine for now. After all, 85% of the rouges are currently in Arkham. Until one night, all at once, all of them leave Arkham through a busted open wall.

Ooooo how to work with this and have the plot continue….

OH I GOT IT.

The Gotham Rogues know that Batman and his fellow Birds haven’t been out to play as much over the past few weeks. It’s their perfect time to strike.

Gotham has Oracle, Robin, Spoiler, Orphan, Signal, Alfred with a shotgun, and The Sirens. That’s a decent amount of heroes but they’re gonna need some reinforcements.

Danny calls in a favor and asks Dani to help with the Arkham break. She agrees.

Dani has met Tim maybe once before doing this but she’s seen enough to know the damage that The Joker has caused on this poor kid. She has a bone to pick with this man. Batman does not kill but the last time Dani checked, she isn’t Batman.

i'm sorry but i HAVE to know about masa's relationship with his batty in laws. like bruce definitely hates his guts but i feel like he'd get on pretty well with both jason and tim?? but for like. vastly different reasons lmao. sorry i had a train of thought here but i just got sidetracked by the horrifying image of masa and dick co-parenting damian during bruce's jaunt through time and that has thoroughly derailed anything insightful i had to say. just thought i'd inflict that thought on you <3

Bruce is complicated tbh. Deep down He absolutely hates masa, and probably sees him as worse than the joker? At least the joker has insanity as a defense — like he’s clearly not well. no one’s ever accused masa of insanity. Bruce is also conflicted because he actually watched masa grow up techinally. masa was about fourteen when he joined the rouges gallery in Gotham, so Bruce (especially after he gets Jason) is always going to wonder if there was something he could’ve done to steer Masa out of crime.

(There was not!)

You’d think masa and Jason would get along but masa actually tried to eat him when Jason first became Robin. Whoops! In masa’s defense no one told him that the Robin change happened so he rolled up on a random Tuesday expecting to bother Dick only to find some other kid in Robin colors! Masa was like *head tilt* the fuck is you? And Jason got belligerent and accidentally implied that Dick was Gone instead of just out of town. Masa was like: oh. Well then! If my Robin can’t be Robin then no one can :) *chomp*

Batman was the only reason Jason survived the night lol. He showed and cleared the misunderstanding and Jason lived to see another day (mostly because masa healed him in a oops my bad move). He’s always gonna be wary of masa though and he still has some nasty scars. It gets better after his death though.

For Tim yeah they get along. Tim looks masa and goes : oh an enabler for all my crazy crazy plans :) and masa thinks the kid is the bees knees. Also free entertainment. If Dick wasn’t his Favorite it’d totally be Tim, and Dick is sorta simmering with jealousy.

Damian’s lucky masa is impossible to offended and thinks Dick in the Batman suit is sexy as hell. Otherwise the kid was verrry close to getting et. Masa is not parent material but Dick is overwhelmed enough to let him babysit a few times. Eventually they start getting along. Sometimes masa and Damian chill in the same room doing their own things like some sort of weird parallel play, or they spar.

The following progressive of My Batman AU resembles some new origin stories and new accomplishments between the DC Universe.

Bio: Barbra Gordon was the first born to Jim Gordon. She dreams about being apart of the cop but unforantally, Her forbid her to become a cop, saying how dangerous Police work is.

One day Gilliam Lobe had enough of James Gordon going against the vigilante law and decided to send Dr Death *already at his breaking point* to the home of Captain Gordon, where he starts with the murder of the Captians Wife, Sara Gordon. James Gordon Distraught as he sees his wife’s corps and blood on Hellferns hands. The two of them began to fight, swinging their fist and kicks straight at another. During the fight when getting punched at reminding Karl Hellfern about many years as a child when he was mentally abused by his parents. This caused Karl to become more angry as he got the upper hand on Jim. In angry tears, holds one of Death's guns demanding to let her father go. James asks Barbara to put the gun down but Death offers to only let him go to kill him. After a minute of talking about the normal child’s society that abandoned him making the way he is, begins to shoot but is stopped by Batman in time. Dr Death tries to attack but doesn't know The Dark Knights master combat has outnumbered Death. Death did punch Batman, only to have his hand in pain. Standing in their places, He rambled to Batman that they were not so different living in a society that makes them so bad that their egos had come to them. Batman says that he uses his ego for justice right before beating him with no mercy as Dr Death continues to goad him. Batman was able to bring down Dr Death who admits that Commissioner Lobe sent her to kill Jim and his Family and recorded it too. The GCPD came and arrested Karl Hellfren for his crimes for almost 5 years, it’s gonna take time for Barbara Gordon to recover from the trauma.

Barbara continued her life as normal, and got a job in a school library. While there she learned how to quickly gather information, but she still wasn't happy. She wanted to make a difference. One day, she was invited to a costume party and she decided to be a bit creative and made a Bat-Girl costume. on the way to the party however, "Killer Moth" and gang shows up to the party and started to commit robberies after Batgirl takes down the gang Killer Moth attempts to escape by dropping the hostage from up high, but Batgirl saved the hostage and disappeared as Batman arrived at the scene and caught the escaping Killer Moth. As Batgirl made her escape from the scene, she was interrupted by Batman who congratulated her on her efforts but asked her not to repeat it. Batman then inferred that he knew who she was and warns he this type of stick will get her into trouble. After a few weeks or months, Bruce agrees to let him join alongside him and Get into a friendly rivalry with Dick Grayson/Robin. Eventually when Bruce started out the Justice League and Dick started out the Teen Titans, She decided to have her own team of Super Heroes Girls. She continues to assist Batman and his allies as well as keeping up her ranks and as well as expressing her feelings for a another girl, who was Lucius Fox’s daughter, Tiffany Fox.

RIP Alan Grant

9th Feb 1949 - 20th July 2022

Meant to post this on the day he passed but it gets exhausting repeatedly writing tributes for creators who made an impact on you. But lets cut to the chase:

Alan Grant was a prolific writer who was part of the British Invasion of comics talent in the 80′s and 90′s. He has worked on multiple titles ranging from 2000 AD, Judge Dredd, the Demon, Shadow of the Bat and Detective Comics. What I remember him the the most for though, is his work on the Batman comics.

In the 90′s, Alan Grant, Chuck Dixon and Doug Monech were the big three Batman writers and this was the period I got into DC comics. Paired with the immensely talented Norm Breyfogle (who also passed away a few years back), the duo gave us Batman stories that were not only dark, moody and noir-ish but also very human.

Amongst the duos most well known creation was the villainous duo Ventriloquist and Scarface:

And despite being a relatively recent villain, the characters became a staple of Batman’s rogues gallery after they were adapted in the seminal Batman: The Animated Series.

Grant also played a key role in the development of Tim Drake’s character, he wrote the story in which Jack and Mary Drake were poisoned by the Obeah Man resulting in Mary’s death and Jack’s paralysis:

And the subsequent fallout of Tim dealing with his parent’s death and the Master of Fear story arc that showcased Tim’s early outings as Robin:

Grant is also responsible for introducing grim and serious slasher villain rouges like Kadaver, Cornelious Stirk and most famously Mr Zsaz:

And whilst these villains were disturbed individuals who loved to stalk and torture and treated human lives as disposable meat, Grant also used this as an opportunity to flesh out citizens who lived in Gotham. Whether it was a homeless man living on a street corner or an orphan grieving the loss of their parents at a grave yard or a single mom who happens upon a dead body or Jack and Mary Drake reflecting on how they’ve been neglecting their son whilst being held hostage by the Obeah Man, Grant showed the inner lives and humanity of the citizens of Gotham thus Batman’s role as the protector of the city had a deeper meaning, showing that he was making a difference in their individual lives.

Grant’s Batman was also never stoic in the face of darkness, thanks to Norm’s expressive art style, the full range of Batman’s emotions were on display as he confronted the darkest side of humanity:

Shock, horror, rage and disgust. These emotions never made Batman seem weak at all. Some, like Bruce Timm seem to prefer a Batman who is an emotionless robot but I like a Batman who is human and can feel emotions besides rage.

On the other side of the coin, Grant also gave us Anarky:

Contrary to what other writers would tell you, Anarky was never a villain. Antagonist, yes but not a villain.

Grant also gave us the excellent, ‘Batman of Arkham Asylum’ Elseworlds; set in the 1900′s it’s a more thoughtful exploration of mental illness in Gotham Rogues and gave us a Batman who was a psychologist at Arkham by day and a vigilante by night. It also has the best take on Killer Croc/Waylon Jones in comics and I’m glad sympathetic Croc has crept it’s way to canon:

Also, I’m probably the only guy who remembers and appreciates the Human Flea and bummed that nobody has brought him back:

And misses one shot C-list villains like Chancer and Nimrod:

This was a fun arc that ran from Shadow of the Batman #7-9 drawn by Tim Sale (who sadly also passed away this year) in which D list villains like Killer Moth, Calendar Man, Catman and Chancer kidnap Bruce Wayne, Commissioner Gordon and Mayor Armand Krol and holds them ransom. Now Tim Drake has to rescue them with the help of anti-hero Nimrod:

It’s a fun Reservior Dogs style heist story but starring Batman villains. Also a rare occasion where Killer Moth isn’t portrayed as the laughing stock of Gotham:

And sometimes, the characters you thought were going to be villains were never villains at all:

And to wrap this up, Grant also wrote the Batman/Etrigan the Demon cross over and is responsible for giving us this hilarious panel from Detective Comics #601-603:

Getting in to comics is rather hard and finding a good starting place or a good recommended must-reads is hard and confusing and you typically get hundreds of different answers.

This is my personal list, that I'm working through and hope to collect. I've done quite a bit of research and feel like this is a adequate reading list for modern (post-crisis) Bruce Wayne

Anyway, here's my list:

Batman: Year One (Batman Vol 1 #404-#407)

This story line established the back story for Batman in the post-crisis timeline, along with the back stories for Commissioner Gordon and Selina Kyle. Not necessarily canon anymore, but a good story to get the feel of the characters

Batman: The Man Who Laughs

This is a one shot that was published in 2005 that tells the story of Batman’s first encounter with the Joker roughly a year after the Batman’s debut in Gotham. Based on the Joker’s original first appearance in Batman Vol 1 #1.

Batman and the Monster Men

This is a 6 part mini series that takes place sometime after Batman: Year One and Batman: The Man Who Laughs. First half of the Dark Moon Rising series. Story revolves around Batman’s first dealing with Hugo Strange

Batman and the Mad Monk

This is another 6 part mini series that is the second half of the Dark Moon Rising series. It is a retelling of a story from Detective Comics Vol 1 #31-32

Batman: The Long Halloween

This is a 13 part limited series, that serves as a re-introduction of the Calendar Man and features a wide array of Batman’s rouge gallery such as Two-Face, Scarecrow, Riddler, Joker, and Poison Ivy.

Batman: Dark Victory

This is a 14 part limited series that is a sequel to The Long Halloween. The main case in the story is a turf war between Two-Face and the Falcon Mafia. It also serves as a re-telling of Dick Grayson’s Robin origin.

Batman: Birth of the Demon (TPB)

This is a collection of 3 Batman one shots: Son of the Demon, Bride of the Demon, and Birth of the Demon. All stories center around Ra’s al Ghul and Talia al Ghul.

Batman: Strange Apparitions (Detective Comics Vol 1 #469-479)

This collection reintroduces Golden Age villains such as Hugo Strange and Dead shot along with introducing new villains such as Doctor Phosphorus and Clayface III.

Batman: The Killing Joke

A 60 page one shot that hints at the Jokers true identity, along with pushing the Jokers madness to new extremes, and showing just how dangerous he can be.

Batman: the Cult

This is a 4 issue mini series, in which Batman gets captured, torture and brain washed by Deacon Blackfire. This is also one of the few stories written by Jim Starlin that shows Jason Todd in a favorable light, as Starlin had a dislike for the character and kid sidekicks.

Batman: Death in the Family (Batman Vol 1 #426-429)

The famous 4 issue story arc that allowed readers to vote on the fate of the then current Robin, Jason Todd.

Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying (Batman Vol 1 #440-442)

This story is the introduction of Tim Drake and his taking of the Robin Mantle. The story also involves a case with Two-Face

Batman: The Last Arkham (Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1-4)

This story shows us the inner workings of Arkham Asylum, along with introducing new villains such as Zsasz, Jeremiah Arkham, and Amygdala

Batman: Gothic (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #6-10)

In this story we get to see glimpses of Bruce Wayne childhood.

Batman: Venom (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #16-20)

This story introduces us to the strength-enhancing drug, venom

The Knightfall collection is a trilogy consisting of Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. In the story, Batman is crippled by Bane leading to him enlisting help from Jean-Paul Valley, while he recovers. Jean-Paul becomes increasingly unstable and violent, ruining Batman’s reputation until Bruce can finally put an end to it. The story had long term ramifications in the batcannon as Bruce had to rebuild the trust everyone had for him.

Unpopular opinion : I hate Batcat or Selina and Bruce Wayne together. Look I love their characters on their own( more Bruce than Selina but it’s not the point ) but together ? HELL NO. They are too overrated and I’m tired of always seeing him especially in movies ending up with her. They are too toxic and I find some aspect of their relationship disturbing :

Their history of violence

She (Selina) have a possessive streak over bruce ( the time she killed Vickie Vale because she was jealous ??!!)

This relationship makes Batman look like an hypocrite, I mean what separates Catwoman from the rest of Batman’s rouges gallery ? Or even just any other burglar Batman deals with? Some may point to her more “altruistic” leanings in regards to her crimes, stealing from corrupt 1% er’s, donating a portion of her heists to charity, and the like. But then you have instances like in Batman (vol. 4) #44 where, for no other reason than some undesignated kleptomaniacal compulsion, she pulls a stunt destroying a business's locale, ruining said business’s merch, and stealing an item valued at $28k. Just for fun. Something she could have easily gotten via legit means, in her mind, required all this needless destruction of someone else’s livelihood.

Their relationship meets the toxic criteria of one built on a trauma bond

The fact that she kills and Batman doesn’t give a crap : she killed Black Mask in retaliation for what he did to her sister and her brother in law. But, in the area of capital punishment, Batman is a hardliner. Historically, he has been unforgiving in his opposition to it. It recalls an instance with one of Bruce’s other high-profile love interests… Wonder Woman. I’m not a WonderBat shipper but come on ! Like there is one comic where she had to kill someone and Bruce didn’t forgive her and ended their relationship/friendship. It was Wonder Woman vol.2 #220 I think.

Selinas record as a thief, not being able to understand Bruce from an emotional and personal level, the times she almost got Batman killed, Batman having to stop via her own criminal tendencies, etc. I could go on and on.

BatCat is a very terrible relationship, and most of their fan community is incredibly toxic once you hear the blasphemy they say out of there mouths.

Why can’t we explore other or even NEW love interest for him like Julie Madison who was his fiancee and was Batman's first love interest, Vicki Vale who’s incredible overhated in the Batman community for no reason well it’s mostly BatCat shippers who hates her most of the time, Jezebel jet, Andrea Beaumont, VESPER FAIRCHILD she’s so underrated and was one of the few to discover his alter ego on her own !!

And last SILVER ST CLOUD !!! They did her soooooo dirty in Gotham and I hate them for that all in favor for BatCat... 😐 Batman has a lot of great love interests, but Bruce Wayne's best might have been Silver St. Cloud. I mean she literally made Bruce question himself if he should hang up the cape forever... wasted potential

I dumbly assumed Silver St. Cloud was gonna be a super important character for Bruce/Batman when she was introduced because of her name alone.

Vesper Fairchild was super cool too! Ironically, her death played an important part in developing some of the batkids feelings towards Batman/Bruce, especially Cassandra (considering it was David Cain responsible for her murder). Barbara, Dick, Tim and Cass played a big part in clearing Bruce's name after Fairchild's murder.

The murders Wonder Woman has committed are always handled weirdly. Remember when she became a spy after she kills Maxwell Lord? Everything about that was a train wreck.

Bruce's character, depending on the writer is either lenient towards murder when its convenient for his own relationships/goals or he's completely absolutist on the idea.

Selina and Bruce definitely have such an intense dynamic that really plays on the "Cat and Mouse" type of relationships. She should be meant to highlight his weaknesses in respect to his own ideology and moral code. He doesn't believe in killing and will prevent others from doing so. However, its his personal relationships with the people he cares about that causes him internal conflict with that ideology. Selina is meant to represent that in a romantic connection (while a character like Jason represents that in a familial connection).

I think one of the most unfortunate aspects of the relationship is that Selina is forced to be less morally ambiguous. Instead of being in the middle (50% "good" 50% "bad") she's more like 90% "good" and 10% "bad". It's really a bummer since her character's history and motivations are so interesting on their own. Especially when you consider she is on the opposite end of the economic spectrum than Bruce (at least initially). She was poor and turned to prostitution to make ends meet. That is a very important part of why she does what she does. Some writers take away her aloof, self serving (but no less compassionate to those who she believes need her brand of help) nature so that its easier to make her a romantic interest towards Bruce's more totalitarian, absolutist nature.

Idk if its gonna be a hot take, but I kinda dont want for Joker to be the next big bad guy for the next Batman movie…

Let me explain,

We have seen Joker in so many incarnations, in so many forms, and in many of the last few movies and stuff, that they unfortunately dont really have room for some of the other in Batman’s Rouges Gallery.

But i also LOVE this Joker, so what to do… 🤔

What about just keeping Joker as a side character for the next few movies, and to keep doing what he did in the deleted scene for Batman (giving his own input on a case from a criminal standpoint etc.) and honestly this might lead to a somewhat interesting situation.

I mean Joker gives his input for Batsy to figure out and find the big bad guy of the movie, and once they are in Arkham, Joker will get the opportunity to get close to them, much like how he did with Riddler, and start building up new connections. He certainly has the “charm” and manipulative skills to do it as we seen in that deleted scene.

And depending on what other villains from the Rouges Gallery they choose to implement, they can be huge game changers for Joker, i mean what if they add Scarecrow to the mix? Well if and when he gets tossed into Arkham, Joker can “befriends” them so he could gain excess to their chemical skillset and might even learn a thing or two from them, and potentially could create the Joker Gas from it. And what about Two-Face? Or Professor Pyg? Black Mask? Calendar Man? Maybe Firefly? Victor Zsasz? Hush? So many they can chose from that can work.

Idk i just thought of this outta the blue thinking about how this Joker can be involved in the next movie, but also not too involved to not take the entire spotlight and letting the other Rouges have some fun, plus it would be an interesting build up to Joker maybe leading some of these guys to just causing some mass chaos in Gotham only so Joker can have some time with Batman, and that could begin their cycle too! Joker breaking out, Batman stopping him, and tossing him back into Arkham.

Idk i think its a neat idea to think about and probably poke around with. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

Hi there, I was wondering what you think of the following hypothetical JLA line-up: Superman, Batman (Dick Grayson), Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), The Flash (Wally West), Tempest, and Martian Manhunter.

My idea is that Clark, Diana and J’onn would be the established, old guard while Vic, Garth and Dick are the new recruits, and Kyle and Wally are the “in-between” generation of once-newbies who earned their respective spots on the team, at an earlier point in their careers - what are your thoughts?

Ps. Grant Morrison and Ivan Reis would need to be the creative team, of course

That actually sounds pretty appealing and a viable line up to star in a major book since with the differing experiences and types of cases, rouge galleries and other plot/story elements Dick, Vic and Garth can bring that into potential for new adventures for the League while still familiar enough to the adventures Bruce and Arthur had prior to the new three members taking their place.

Imagine say, Bludhaven based villain Blockbuster forming a secret alliance with the alien despot Mongul OR Grid, Cyborg’s evil counterpart attacking the JLA Watchtower and computing the League’s weaknesses to his advantage…that’s just two of the many possibilities you can get from a line up like that.

And while Ivan Reis would be a good artist for it and Morrison can give us readers a nice few introductory storylines since the JLA book from back in the day was their foray into mainstream comics after years in Vertigo and one shot stories, for a writer further down the line, I can recommend an indie writer including the likes of Kireon Gillen or Donny Cates, just to see some new talent on such a flagship corner of the DCU.

Or conversely if somehow they can get him back and I had a say in it, I’d convince DC offices to bring back Scott Snyder since Pre-Doom War and Death Metal, his run on Justice League was actually pretty solid stuff. The only reason why I believe it wasn’t as (marginally for my opinion but I digress) strong as say his Batman runs or even Superman Unchained was because he was under a very tight editorial leash that hampered his creativity instead of enhancing it (Ah, Editorial Mandates…guaranteed to foul stuff up or your money back).

But otherwise a lineup combing a new generation with the old is always a great way to appeal to both sides of fandom for any price of media with the right creative teams to execute it. That becomes paramount for the World’s Greatest Superheroes that are the Justice League of America.

For both @titans-trash and @meara-eldestofthemall , I am curious for your thoughts on this?

Sorry to go MIA like that. And it just stop updating you on the meting. We hit a slight snag. Batman.

I don't know how but he somehow got wind of the meeting. He literally crashed it. Him and the entirety of the GCPD that is. It was complete mayhem. All hell just broke loose. It was just a mass fight!

I hid behind a couple crates as I don't do well with fights. Robin came over to get me but I asked to stay there until it had calmed down. Surprisingly he agreed and just sat on the crates.

When I was moved outside was surprised to see police vans heading to both Arkham and Black Gate. Was also surprised to see just how injured everyone was.

Am currently back in my cell in Arkham. Neville has been a huge help. Keeping us in the loop about all that is going to happen.

One good thing that came out of this is that I got to meet the medical doctor that will only deal with Batman's Rouges Gallery. Turns out it's a friend of mine. One of the one's that act as extra ears for me. One that knows both of my identities. So that was a pleasant surprise. Can say with 100% certainty that he will actually do his best to keep us in the best health.

So it has been a mad few days. Not best pleased to be back in this hell hole but not much can be done about that at the moment.

Getting in to comics is rather hard and finding a good starting place or a good recommended must-reads is hard and confusing and you typically get hundreds of different answers.

This is my personal list, that I'm working through and hope to collect. I've done quite a bit of research and feel like this is a adequate reading list for modern (post-crisis) Bruce Wayne

Anyways here's the list in primary chronological order:

Batman: Year One (Batman Vol 1 #404-#407)

Batman: The Man Who Laughs

This is a one shot that was published in 2005 that tells the story of Batman's first encounter with the Joker roughly a year after the Batman's debut in Gotham. Based on the Joker's original first appearance in Batman Vol 1 #1.

Batman and the Monster Men

This is a 6 part mini series that takes place sometime after Batman: Year One and Batman: The Man Who Laughs. First half of the Dark Moon Rising series. Story revolves around Batman's first dealing with Hugo Strange

Batman and the Mad Monk

This is another 6 part mini series that is the second half of the Dark Moon Rising series. It is a retelling of a story from Detective Comics Vol 1 #31-32

Batman: The Long Halloween

This is a 13 part limited series, that serves as a re-introduction of the Calendar Man and features a wide array of Batman's rouge gallery such as Two-Face, Scarecrow, Riddler, Joker, and Poison Ivy.

Batman: Dark Victory

Batman: Birth of the Demon (TPB)

This is a collection of 3 Batman one shots: Son of the Demon, Bride of the Demon, and Birth of the Demon. All stories center around Ra's al Ghul and Talia al Ghul.

Batman: Strange Apparitions (Detective Comics Vol 1 #469-479)

This collection reintroduces Golden Age villains such as Hugo Strange and Dead shot along with introducing new villains such as Doctor Phosphorus and Clayface III.

Batman: The Killing Joke

A 60 page one shot that hints at the Jokers true identity, along with pushing the Jokers madness to new extremes, and showing just how dangerous he can be.

Batman: the Cult

Batman: Death in the Family (Batman Vol 1 #426-429)

The famous 4 issue story arc that allowed readers to vote on the fate of the then current Robin, Jason Todd.

Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying (Batman Vol 1 #440-442)

This story is the introduction of Tim Drake and his taking of the Robin Mantle. The story also involves a case with Two-Face

Batman: The Last Arkham (Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1-4)

This story shows us the inner workings of Arkham Asylum, along with introducing new villains such as Zsasz, Jeremiah Arkham, and Amygdala

Batman: Gothic (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #6-10)

In this story we get to see glimpses of Bruce Wayne childhood.

Batman: Venom (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #16-20)

This story introduces us to the strength-enhancing drug, venom

The Knightfall collection is a trilogy consisting of Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. In the story, Batman is crippled by Bane leading to him enlisting help from Jean-Paul Valley, while he recovers. Jean-Paul becomes increasingly unstable and violent, ruining Batman's reputation until Bruce can finally put an end to it. The story had long term ramifications in the batcannon as Bruce had to rebuild the trust everyone had for him.

Batman: Contagion (Batman: Shadow of the Bat #48-49; Detective Comics Vol 1 #695, #696; Robin Vol 4 #27-28; Catwoman Vol #31-32; Azrael #15-16; Batman Vol 1 #529; Batman: Chronicles #4)

A cross over even where a deadly virus sweeps through Gotham. One of the story lines leading in to the No Man's Land event.

Batman: Legacy (Batman Vol 1 #533-534; Batman: Bane; Bane of the Demon #1-4; Batman: Shadow of the Bat #53-54; Catwoman Vol 2 #33-36; Detective Comics Vol 1 #700-702; Robin Vol 4 #32-33)

Another crossover, this storyline serves as a wrap up for Contagion as well as Knightfall. One of the story lines leading in to No Man's Land event.

The final crossover storyline leading in to No Man's Land. After a earthquake, Gotham's heros have to band together to help the citizens in the aftermath.

After several catastrophic events in Gotham, the US government decides to cut off Gotham, destroying all bridges to the city leaving Batman and allies to keep order in the city.

JLA Tower of Babel (JLA #43-46)

This story deals with the discovery of Batman's plans and files on how to take out the members of the Justice League in the event of them going rouge.

Bruce Wayne is arrested for murder and the rest of the bat family are forced to solve the crime and help clear his name.

This story is the follow up to Bruce Wayne: Murderer. After getting out of jail, he must full solve to murder, as those around him begin to doubt his innocence.

Batman Hush (Batman Vol 1 #608-619)

This story arc share a bit about Bruce Wayne's childhood along with introducing a new billion, Hush and furthering Batman and Catwoman's romantic relationship. This story also teases the resurrection of Jason Todd, the second Robin.

Batman: Heart of Hush (Detective Comics #846-850)

A follow up to Batman Hush, once again furthering Batman and Catwoman's romantic relationship. Also serves as a prelude to Batman R. I. P.

Batman Under the Red Hood (Batman Vol 1 #635-#641, #645-650, Annual #25)

This Story focuses on Jason Todd, the second Robin's resurrection and return to Gotham

Batman R. I. P. (Batman Vol 1 #667-669, #672-686, #701-702; Detective Comics #846-853; Nightwing Vol 2 #147-153; Batman and the Outsiders Vol 1 #11-14, special #1; Robin #175-183)

This story leads up to Bruce Wayne's apparent death in the DC Final Crisis event.

These two issues deal with the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's apparent death.

Battle for the Cowl

This is a 3 issue minis series that shows the remainder of the bat family hold Gotham together in the wake of Batman's death and Nightwing ultimate decision to take up the mantle.

Damian chokes on something, probably his own tongue.

It confuses Nettie. But then she thinks maybe he’s a fan too? She offers to make one for him but he steadfastly refuses much to his brothers’ amusement.

Might make a robin themed dress?? If so, she crosses paths with Robin when she does, thoroughly embarrassing her and almost sending poor Dami into a crisis.

Rogues Gallery

She makes a lot of designs off the rouges gallery because like, supporting people trying to get better??? also they’re some of the few who’s aesthetic aint shit?

She can’t make all of them because she ran out of time, so the rest get posited up on her Instagram and MDC blog (that’s run by Tikki mostly. She’s a great secretary and gets bored in Mari’s purse all the time)

Everyone is very flattered

Harley, if she ever finds it, immediately commission all pieces and wears them around Gotham don’t @ me

Mari refers to them as ‘the flock’ (and bird-brains after getting to know them better)

Damian calls her: Starling, Habibti, ya qamar(my moon), malaki (angel), ya wardati(my flower) (b/c like, angel’s cute an all but I just think Damian’s way more dramatic than that tbh. he’d put thought into his nicknames)

Mari calls Damian: mon soleil (my sunshine) (because symmetry and also Mari thinks she’d hilarious), Birdie, petit oiseau/oisillon

I like the idea of Jagged being a native Gothamite tbh

He’s probably the reason the MTeam are in Gotham in the first place? maybe? anyway, the class is there, right? right.

Kagami, Luka and Felix are all holding the fort down in Paris. Ain't no akumas but sometimes they need backup so when certain heroes need to disappear, Nath has Trixx set up an illusion of whichever one so they can slip away with the horse miraculous.

Mari’s the one who has to leave the most because she’s still Paris’ damage control, so like,,,,, ya know.

Mari doesn’t get left behind, at least not on the first day b/c come on people! She has plenty of friends in class watching out for her and a semi-competent teacher who does care even if she’s non-confrontational to a fault.

She does eventually become separated from the group. Half because of Lila and half because she’s always fucking late and got distracted.

She actually runs into one of the civilian batfam in the first place because the class was allowed an hour or so to wander around the shopping district or whatever to explore/buy things/get food. They just needed to return to the meetup spot at a certain time but Mari is like ten minutes away when it’s five minutes to the meetup

So she’s just… fucking booking it and completely takes out this trained vigilante without trying to.

Mari, as she’s groaning on the ground, tangled around a boy: By Kwamii, I thought my luck was supposed to be good Tikki.

That or like, the subway doors close before she can get on them and the rest of the class ends up ahead of her leaving her to get caught up on some bullshit in the next train or smth.

Oh, like. Of course it’s her train that gets held hostage. Wonderful.

danny phantom 14-20 thoughts!! I finished up s1 :D these last few eps were actually really really good!!!

-did. did tucker really just say esperanto was a dead language only spoken as a secret code between geeks. google says around 100,000 people actively speak it. oh my god...it being an auxiliary language doesn't mean its 'just for geeks to speak in code' ...it helps bridge gaps between people who don't have a language in common...

-danny really isn't pulling punches when it comes to fighting the ghost-cop possessed people huh. like he SLAMMED KWAN INTO THE CONCRETE SO HARD. HE THREW PAULINA INTO A BILLBOARD. will that...I mean it WOULD carry over to their bodies non-possessed, right? like if the ghost piloting their bodies gets hurt?? itd be so upsetting to be possessed, lose time, then wake up covered in bruises (and possibly, broken bones??) real horror movie stuff im sure wont be addressed in any way

-tuckers parents seem nice! I like them :)

-WULF IS CUTE AND I FEEL BAD. im so glad the gang realized he was only causing trouble bc of the shock collar walker put on him and helped. also, him wearing that big hoodie with the hood on, and thinking its subtle. we can tell youre still a giant wolfie :) THEN GETTING SUCKED INTO THE PORTAL AAAAH :( anxiously waiting to see Him Again....

-ok. im not saying his bullying is JUSTIFIED, but. dash looked so pleased with the (cute!) poster he just painted, and danny comes thru the wall and spills paint on his nice letterman jacket. his anger is justified maybe 65% of the time so far...(not the way he handles it, but STILL.) at least lancer is stepping in!! and them making a silly little bet was...cute?? until dash pulled out his GROSS UNDERWEAR AND SAID DANNY WOULD HAVE TO EAT THEM???? WHAT THE FUCK MAN. TUCKER WAS SO RIGHT ITS FUCKING WEIRD TO CARRY THOSE AROUND EWWW. THIS KID IS UNWELL. lancer was right, his animatronic setup was SUPER IMPRESSIVE?? hes actually pretty creative. danny meanwhile is stealing the fright knight's design...I hope dash is taking art classes or smth with his sports

-fright knight is the most bestest ghost so far i LOVE THAT DESIGN. I am biased towards knights, and characters with swords, but he fucks so severely. and should sue danny for copyright infringement for stealing his design for his haunted house. if some 14 yr old broke into MY house and stole MY sword, id also be pissed. his evil winged unicorn rules too with its FANGS. and he just CAN SHOVE THE PORTAL OPEN WITH HIS HANDS??? is he the strongest ghost weve seen so far? idk but hes my fav. SOUL SHREDDER IS SUCH A COOL SWORD NAME TOO. ANY NAMED SWORD ALSO FUCKS. 'flaming bedsheets of DEATH' funny king. ALSO he was polite to dash and tucker when just asking for directions and telling tucker 'oh maybe, just a suggestion, maybe be nicer to me and be more respectful :)' I LOOOVE HIM.

-I noticed this in the Ember ep, but jazz has an electric guitar in her room!! talent musical queen!! its cool to see hobbies just in the bg.

-fright knight's murder castle reminds me of the booby trapped murder castle in zexal!! another supposedly 'for kids' show with murder/trap castles! we love that. if you are a dp fan reading this, give yugioh zexal a try. its also got 13-14 year old protags and involves (alien) ghosts. the cardgame is just a vessel for the plot, which is really good. (I just want more people to watch my fav yugioh, man)

-danny. with a SWORD.

-danny doesnt NEED TO WIN this contest, dash didnt STEAL HIS DESIGNS AND STEAL A SWORD. he also got excited to hear lancer got sent to a dimension with his worst fears too just so he could win the contest? DANNY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!! BRO MAYBE YOURE 14 AND HAVENT FULLY DEVOLPED YOUR WHOLE BRAIN YET, BUT...THATS FUCKED. this kid casually says the most deranged things, I do worry for my spooky son. once again, therapy needed. that judo toss was great tho. I wonder if he actually did pick up some martial arts stuff from his mom?

-danny can fly 112 mph!!! thats so fast! I love the lil montage of him and his friends testing his abilities and stuff, very cute and a good way to showcase what he can do by now and how much more proficient he's gotten from ep 1!!! I'm sure he's going to get more abilities :)

-im glad...maddie's at least TRYING this ep. I do feel for her because her husband is a man baby. but the fact it took 16 episodes to get a kinda semblance of any kind of real concern or attempts at bonding. hmm. jack's 'BACK OFF SHES A MINOR' @ the ghost trying to attack jazz. also was very funny. and him wanting to make an action figure of her? are the parents redeeming themselves to me? slightly. they gotta Work Harder

-maddie not even hesitating to drag danny out. fucking good. danny is so right, go on the internet to date. get a cat. how do you spend...how many years?? has it been since college?? at least 20, right, since the parents/vlad are in their 40s? hung up on ONE girl. my god, man. incel drama queen. her kung fu IS impressive, but dude. 'we both know hes a creep' SO right. it sucks but they do need a phone and shit being in the middle of NOWHERE. also, just stealing his helicopter was great. <3

-Star owns. actually, all of the extra characters are shining this ep and I love it.

-johnny and danny bein friends and staging a fake fight (which danny takes too seriously, once again this child has aggression he NEEDS TO WORK OUT) I hope these three stay friends, I said it before but danny needs more friendly ghosts to hang with.

-at this point, Danny's ghost enemies are a lot like, I dunno, batman's rouge gallery is the first thing that comes to mind. they all have their own gimmick and unique designs, but most of them are easy to beat after learning the Moral Lesson. I still get excited when any of them show up again, though. 18 is another valerie episode!!!! :D skulker really said you two will get along if I have to handcuff you together <3 and the gym teacher really said, youre married now, have a flour baby! ngl, I'm not really watching this show for the shipping stuff (which I am very scared to look at the fandom for after I finish this watch through- I feel like there's probably discourse/arguing about ships...) but. I'm gonna put my opinion out there. valerie/danny > sam/danny. maybe I just really love the enemies to lovers trope. And the secret identity stuff adds Extra Flavor.

-SKULKER JUST HAVING THE BOX GHOST AND DANGLING HIM BY A STRING. HILARIOUS. and him watching them with binoculars and making his silly little commentary. AND MAKING THE SACK BABY CRY. LMAO. THIS DUDE IS A BABY KIDNAPPER. skulker is super fun

-danny, you just...collapsed the water tower. and then attacked the nasty burger machine...mascot thingy...out of anger..I KEEP SAYING HE'S GOT ANGER ISSUES BUT. HE REALLY NEEDS A LESSON IN MANAGING COLLATERAL DAMAGE!!! So does valerie!! They're both pretty focused on each other. I mean it's good of Danny to say he's trying to make sure PEOPLE don't get hurt, but... (I mean I guess it's not something 14 year olds WOULD worry about, but as an adult im like, who's going to fix that? how much money will that take??)

-TUCKER MAKING BANK. and sam and tucker being super emotionally attached to their flour baby and being pretty good parents. that's cute...also him just straight kissing her and being like. WAIT. O_O JDSKAFHD. his mom baking them into cookies was the funniest possible result. tbh I dont feel like this is on tucker, if anything the other kid's shouldve been more responsible! He was just taking an opportunity to get that $$ which I respect

-Danny being more understanding of Valerie's situation in the end (helping her at her job, too, and trying to keep that a secret for her!!!) And seeing them work together this ep, and also her letting phantom get her out of the ghost zone...was very sweet. LOVE that. more valerie eps pls

-me when I realize vlad's big stupid house exploded because of his own carelessness with changing the ghost portal ectofiltrator or whatever: *pointing and laughing*

YOU HAVE A WEAPONS VAULT??? and jack didnt put a handle on the inside. of fucking course he didnt! why would you leave that to your son!! or expect him to clean YOUR LAB when its where you work with probably dangerous chemicals and weapons and hes 14!! give him normal chores, like, I dunno, vacuuming, laundry, dishes...CMON. I hate it here. But I'm glad Jack is more chill about danny while he's a ghost, and willing to work with him for this ep. AND. I DID ENJOY JACK PUNCHING VLAD IN THE FACE. AND GENERALLY JUST OWNING HIM. the ghost punchy fists are actually amazing. like yeah, just punch a ghost in the face. that rules.

-ep 20 opens with the coolest fucking ghost lady design. her tattoos can come off and fight. MA'AM. I like ur nose ring and your cape maam hello 👉👈😳

-sam's grandma is hilarious and the most valid member of her family and I love her. thats my grandma now. and tucker covering for sam by dressing as her. thats true friendship <3 also skipping school to go to a goth circus. just bestie things! sam's parents are haters but for all the wrong reasons.

-'my family has controlled ghosts with this for generations!' WAIT. WAIT FREAKSHOW /ISNT/ A GHOST? I didn't expect that...he's just a fucked up guy controlling ghosts? anyway watching danny shoot at police cars and rob banks while mind controlled. its like, the most stereotypical 'bad' things lmao. (tbh an evil ghost circus troupe is a sick concept)

(I'm going to assume evil circus reaper danny has a lot of fan content. people love an edgy au, except this one is canon (even tho its via mind control...having the protag go evil otherwise might be hard, I guess?) but au where he stays with the troupe...that has to exist, right?)
