So Im back on my white collar/ batman crossover bullshit yall,
K heres the idea neal is actually neal but is cat womans son and was her side kick as a teen. So do to some plot device neal and the gang end up captured by the red hood (cuz jason todd is my special interest ) and neal and jay knew each other as robin and catlad/stray or whatever u wanna call neal. So peter is freaking out cuz yaknow crime lord and neal just goes “so what happened to the short shorts and pixie boots?” And every one is confused cuz wtf that mean when the fucking red hood replys “i dont see u running around in skintight leather and cat whiskers anymore” and neal just snickers and says some shit like “i think i could still pull it off” and jay just tells em to fuck off, so neal grabs the gang and shoves em twords the door saying “see ya birdie” to which jay responds “later kitty cat” leaveing every one very confused on what the fuck just happened

Thinkin' of WOF Au for DC, but like, it's a Gothamite and Fawcett thing. (And Amity Park if crossover)
Like those are the most magical areas in the world, even if Gotham is cursed as fuck. An unspoken secret of sorts that while they present themselves as human to outsiders, they are all Very Much Not.
Which means hilariously in the league, when everyone expects Batman to be suspicious and short with the new guy- even made bets on it- they are then shooketh when both visibly relax and start talking. And half the shared complaints don't make sense!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Gotham technically has no Queen, nor does Fawcett, but Batman and Captain Marvel are the closest things. Not in the traditional sense of back when they were in separate tribes (& maybe from a different dimension but shh that was millennia ago) but in the sense of, they're the ones patrolling and protecting the cities along with calling the shots in disasters.
Which does sort of change the dynamic they both have in their city. If one of them calls to arms, the city would follow them. They could declare war, and their cities (begrudgingly in Gotham's underbelly's case of strongest is in charge) would follow. And while Billy is oblivious, both Marvel-the-not-hivemind and Batman are. They know they have to be very careful.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure we all want Nightwing Bruce but no. Bruce, like both his mother and father and father's father and so on before him, is actually an Icewing. The Waynes however, have a case of melanism running in their bloodline. Thomas Wayne? Only his quills and part of his back were darker, but Bruce? Practically pitch black scales that shadow his eyes.
Now Alfred on the other hand, is a Nightwing. No special powers there, though you would hear many a child protest with how he seems to know everything.
Commissioner Gordon is a Mudwing, big stocky and very tired, which translates to his human disguise as a large trenchcoat. He finds this very amusing. Barbara similarly, is half Mudwing. Her mother was a Hivewing, making her a hybrid between both. Which does ironically mean that Batgirl does in fact have insectoid wings. Though that does ponder the question on if they'd all go by their original vigilante names.
Dick is a Silkwing. Wingless as he watches his parents fall and unable to do anything despite this place supposedly being safe for beings like them. He grows into his own, and his wings, when they come in, are dark Gotham colors through and through, with the deep blue of the sky he's come to crave.
Jason is a hybrid between a Mudwing and a Skywing. He's also an animus- not that he knew that. He doesn't find out until he's dying, telling himself to not die, to get back to Gotham, to his dad, his family- And then he wakes up in his Coffin, alive.
Now Cass, raised to be the perfect killer, is also a hybrid, just one between a Nightwing and a Rainwing, egg set out under the moon. Which succeeds, partially. She can't straight up read minds, but combined with her talent in reading body language on both human and inhuman bodies, it's a near thing.
Tim is a Seawing, borderline abandoned by his parents who seek treasures and more wealth as he's trapped back in a city where the water is dark and poisoned. But he's Gothamite, through and through, and he adapts. Scales darker than the original blues he was born with, and glow shifting to that sickly white of the Gotham's Bats.
Now Steph, is a full-blooded Rainwing, and can in fact change her scales, but can mostly be found in purples and golds. Though for a short time she was in another set of colors, thought dead before she slithered out of the shadows older and wiser than before.
Damian is his father's son, but he's also an Al-Ghul. The not-quite dragonet is half Icewing, and half Sandwing. And struggled to adjust at first, to a place so different from his first home where the only other dragons were blood related. But like any Wayne before him, he adjusts, and he adapts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billy wasn't a Beetlewing originally, and perhaps he would have hesitated if he'd known it would change him, would change his body and the last thing he had of his parents. But his friends, his Team and new family help. And he can pass as a Silkwing like their sort-of foster mother. All six of them can do so now, even if the others look more like hybrids themselves thanks to not being the Champion. They might not be, but they're his family. And that's enough.

To clarify: This is not a case of both universes existing simultaneously. This is an inexplicably-dropped-into-an-entirely-different-universe crossover.
This is not necessarily about which is your favorite character out of these (although it could be. Who am I to tell you what to do here). This is about what would be the most chaotic, the most cursed, the most barely-justifiable plot-wise. The worst, if you will.
And, since there are far more than ten characters I can imagine dumping into the world of Batman and the Justice League with no valid reasoning, there will be more.
Are there worse options available? Find out here.

Really?!?! I took out MLB for a reason people!
Will you all fucking stop changing the fandom names and put it under the actual names of the shows/movies/comics/etc?!?!
It'll help because now it's going to be even less for actual Batman Content. Which it should be more! Not less!
Wait...I can't even do that because it doesn't show up!
Tumblr media
Thanks people.
I don't hate crossovers but this is pissing me off. Especially after I exclude them so I can read in peace. Not even the one WC made me this angry.

acquainted with the saint of never getting it right
Author: ephhemeralite Fandom: Batman, White Collar
Summary: Despite all of the hassle Caffrey caused with his jailbreak, Peter doesn't find him overly remarkable in the beginning. Criminals, caught and kept, devolve into basic archetypes under the punishing weight of prison. Any interest they might provide him is lost, somewhere, behind those walls. Caffrey does not prove to be the exception to the rule, no matter how much some small part of Peter had hoped that he would be. (Peter Burke is doing as he always does: following the rules, catching criminals, and wrangling his resident art thief. Dick Grayson is doing his best not to lose himself to a long, awful mission. You know what they say about building Rome.)
Readers Notes: Anyone whose been in the Batfam space for any length of time has probably run across a Batfam/White Collar crossover fic. This is one of my top 5 favorite DC/WC fics. The way this author is so upfront about the issues between Peter and Neal in terms of power imbalance and the way Peter treats Neal is a refreshing sort of break to the way most fics tend to either skirt around the issue or ignore it outright. Additionally, the writing of this fic is amazing! The way the differences between Dick and Neal are emphasized and the way ephhemeralite writes Dick is just *chefs kiss*
Rating: General  Warning: N/A   Words: 13k
Characters: Dick Grayson, Peter Burke
Additional tags: Neal Caffrey and Dick Grayson are the Same Person, POV Alternating, Character Study, Identity Porn, Emotional/Psychological Abuse, Panic Attacks, Unreliable Narrator

Why is it that I have to consciously block out Danny Phantom fics when I’m looking for Dick Grayson fics?

Ok, so you know all those cross over fics where one of the bats is undercover as neal caffrey, right?
So the idea is El gets kidnapped by someone and it’s being live streamed to the fbi people and neal!tim says to peter something along the lines of “i can do something to save el, but you’re not going to like it, so I just need a yes or no. Do you trust me peter?” And peter takes a long moment before saying “ i trust you neal”
so tim is like “bet, ima step out to make a reallly quick phone call then ima be right back”. And tim calls jason and is like “ can you go rescue my friend please” and jason agrees cuz he’s not doing anything and is in the area, so like 20 minutes later the goddamm red hood shows up at whatever wearhouse or basement el is in and beats up her kiddnapers and looks into the camera and is like “ ive done my part baby bird, ill be sure to get what im owed” or some shit cuz he’s dramatic.
So obviously peter and el and the rest of the fbi people freak out cuz “holy shit thats the fucking red hood!!” and “neal what the fuck do you owe him???!!?”
and jason just wants tim to take a nap, eat a proper meal and watch all three legally blonde movies with him or some dumb brotherly bonding shit like that.
If someone writes this please tell me :)))))

Writing prompt
"I told you if you put me a room with _____ I was going to punch them in the face."
I had an idea for a scene for a fanfic where Neal Caffrey from White Collar, a character known for being non-violent if you haven't watched the show, punches Bruce Wayne in the face and says the above to Peter as he walks away with blood on his fist. I realized this would in general be a good writing prompt.
If your curious my idea for this crossover AU was for Neal and Jason Todd to have been best friends growing up who later were in a secret open relationship. Both being polyamorious bi or pan. They of course told the girls they had flings with that they were in an open relationship just left out it being with a boy.
Bruce held a private funeral and didn't invite any of his friends from school (or wait for Dick to return from space) and also let everyone find out via newspaper of Jason's death. Neal emotionally couldn't handle being in Gotham anymore after he visited Jason's grave to mourn.
Neal spitefully did what he could without crossing into the city to hurt/ inconvenience Bruce and W. E. He basically vowed though to give a good right hook to the man though if he ever saw him just like Jason taught him. Knowing there was a chance working in white collar he might actually see the CEO and that assault would probably get him put back in jail he put in his contract that he was to never be put in the same room as him. To hide his personal connection other weird eccentric things were debated and later negotiated out of his contract with the FBI. Peter thought this was just Neal being theatric since he was adamantly non-violent. He just couldn't see him doing something crazy like punching Bruce Wayne in the office. Peter interviewed the man in his personal office without Neal but, didn't take it serious enough to have Neal entirely out of the office while Bruce was there.
Bruce by this point knows he handled Jason's Death horrendously doesn't press charges cause he knows he deserves probably more than a punch to the face and the hassle/stuff he knows Neal stole. His emotional clue-by-four courtesy of one Dick Grayson who actually reached out to Jason's BFF after he got back. Dick also was there when Neal said his goodbyes at Jason's head stone and Neal revealed that they had been in love and in a committed relationship for years.
Eventually this incident will prompt Bruce to try despite the fact that their relationship is just finally reaching stability, to get Jason to tell Neal he is alive. (Dick told him about the secret relationship when Neal first caused criminal trouble.) Bruce wants to try to at least try to right this one wrong. Dick is more than happy to join in on the cause. (The other bats are just surprised to find out about the secret relationship and are staying out of it though they are shameless eaves dropping and rooting for them to get together. Some because they ship it and some because they hope it will chill Jason out.)
Jason who knows how strongly Neal hates violence and why is scared to face him. ( Jason used to do all the violence and protecting so Neal didn't have to on the streets.) He thinks Neal will be horrified and disgusted with him. He is also afraid that he will accidentally hurt him because or the pit madness. He is very grateful he didn't know where Neal was and was too focused on his vendetta to have gone after him when he was still not fully in control and delivering duffle bags of heads. (The pit madness getting less potent the longer a way from exposure & the person becoming more experienced in handling the rage.)
Of course Jason eventually decides he owes Neal to honor his promise to Neal that they would always be together/ find each other even in the next great adventure. He leaves a note written in there special code in there favorite book on his table explaining everything and giving him the option to meet him or send him back a message if he doesn't want to see his face.
Neal has a breakdown which Mozzie walks into. Neal tells him what happened to the first love he'd mentioned so often (usually when drunk). Mozzie freaks out and does not want Neal to go and then he freaks out that Red Hood might have overheard via bug and was going to kill him for coming in between them. Neal talks him down defending Jason. Mozzie gets scared all over again because he can see in Neals eyes what Neal knew he'd do as soon as he realized Jason was really alive, he was going to find him. (And kiss him)
Neal was too grateful to have his love back again and was upset for Jason. He could see how the pit and the league's manipulations had twisted the good in him. Neal meets up with Jason and points out all the good parts of Jason that poked through in his actions under the corruption. He will take Jason with all the trama and the near meta human abilities and rage and help him heal. He still loves him no matter how damaged he may be just as he knows Jason would do the same for him. Just as long as they have each other they can survive anything.
If anyone wants to write this fic with the level of story telling I currently don't have the patience or ware with all to write please go ahead and tag me or my AO3 is The_Wandering_Mage. I got too many WIP right now and I'm currently trying out new medication and are possibly suffering from malnutrition these are unrelated but, my cognitive capabilities at the moment definitely are not up to snuff. Also I'm sleep deprived and probably shouldn't be posting at all but, I got nothing better to do and at least this way it's out of my head. Breaking my own don't post while not completely cognizant rule.

Hey I’ve been meandering through “isolated Batfam” and came across the “Dick Grayson is Neal Caffrey” fics and I’m so confused. Like where did that come from? Like it’s not just one or two authors that had the same weird crossover like a bunch of, and it’s not a case of same actor (unless it’s a voice actor). I don’t see the connection that makes for crossover material. Any ideas? This isn’t to say I haven’t enjoyed some of them, I’m just so confused where the concept came from.

Can someone please explain to me why there are 970 crossover fics between batman and white collar on ao3. What is the correlation?? Why is this such a phenomenon???? I had never even heard of this show but now I know like all of the main characters names just from fanfic descriptions. Please someone make it make sense.

Absolutely broke my heart when I discovered white collar x Batman fics and then immediately realized how many of these crossovers seem to actively disregard white collar as a show
Like I’m still gonna read them and I’m still gonna have fun, but it hurts to see people misinterpreting Neal Caffrey as just a knockoff Batfamily member instead of the canonically-labeled sociopath and pathological thief that he is. Like this bitch will steal things because, and I quote, “it was there.” He got caught on bond forgery because he was so obsessively in love with a girl and he broke out of maximum security prison and subsequently got caught because of said girl (who, rightfully so, did not give a shit about him).
Respectfully, not a single one of the Batfamily is built like that.
And then people are treating Peter Burke like some idiotic traffic cop who doesn’t care about Neal at all, instead of a brilliant guy who has broken every moral and ethical bone in his body trying to protect his best friend. This man finished the series **SPOILERS** having (1) lied to a priest, (2) been kidnapped, (3) had his wife kidnapped, (4) gone to prison, (5) aided and abetted fugitives, and (6) violated probably a minimum of five domestic and international laws each episode. And that’s not even including all the plot points I’ve completely forgotten about
It hurts even more because that dynamic of impulsivity and intelligence and loyalty and criminal behavior and complete trust and absolutely gut wrenching codependency just reeks of Batman comics. Like Peter and Neal hurt each other and love each other and betray each other at every turn and it’s sooooo good and THAT is the crossover I want to be reading…
(Sorry for the rant, but I’m tipsy off red wine and white collar is leaving Hulu in two weeks and I’m struggling)
