+ when your guy's mum was pregnant, the doctors said that she would be having twins, but unexpectedly there were triplets.
+ when you guys started to grow up, fred and george were getting taller while it seems you were not even growing.
+ When you guys went to hogwarts you didn't think that your mom would get pregnant again. You already have 3 older siblings and 2 twins and now another brother??
+ you started to become friends with different people and oh boy did fred and george not like that. Their twin hanging out with somebody other than them?? how dare she!
+ you and your twins loved to play pranks on people. Bill, percy, charlie people from your school. Even teachers, your biggest prank of all time though was when you guys were in the 5th year
+ you guys pranked umbridge and snape, they got into an argument and nobody knew it was you guys. It was really funny and cool, even though it was mean, fred and george did it because snape was being hard on you and saying that you were talking to somebody in class even though you focusing on a test, umbridge was just being a bitch to everyone so they did everyone a favour
+ whenever you guys go back home for the holidays, you always catch up with your older brothers because you don't see them much and it upsets you guys alot. Bill recently got married to fleur and you guys missed it because you guys were at school for the holidays.
+ When you guys start to get older and start to date people you guys drift away abit, until fred and katie broke up. He needed comfort from his twins. You were dating cedric at the time and george was dating Angelina.
+ when you saw cedric die from voldemort, your twins have never seen you cry so much, straight away they came to your side leaving their own girlfriends to comfort their twin about her boyfriends death.
you could have never asked for a better family.

Me, however. [Fred Weasley]
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Title: Me, However.
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Gryffindor!Reader, implied Ron Weasley x Hermione Granger.
Timeline: Non-specified.
Summary: Ginny doesn’t find ginger men attractive, the same can’t be said for her friends.
Warnings: Mentions of implied sex, mainly just fluff and humour. Some original background characters have been created just for purposes of the story.
Tumblr media
"I'm just saying, ginger men are literally the worst looking, I'd never chose one," Ginny says harshly, raising her hands in defeat at she makes her point.
"Gee thanks sis," Fred says, leaning forward to tap her on the back of the head, not to hurt her but just enough to ruffle her hair and frustrate her.
"Yeah, way to make a guy feel pretty," George mutters with the same playful tone as his brother, flicking out his long hair as if to push it sassily over his shoulder. Ginny simply roles her eyes at their behaviour, turning to Parvati who tries to argue the point.
"Yeah but Septimus Goshawk, he's ginger and he's fit!" Parvati says arguing the point, met with an enthusiastic nod from her sister. Fred and George sat back with smug looks on their face at the new information, shooting a 'told you' look towards Ginny.
"Or Rigby Tennerfink!" Padma piped up, mentioning the wizard singer, one of the infamous heartthrobs.
"Gross!" Ginny scrunched her face up, picturing the red haired singer serenading a crowd of adoring women. "The only man for me is Aegus Troy," she adds, a smile passing her lips as she daydreams about the blonde Irish Chaser.
"Ginny, you used to fancy Gilderoy Lockhart, you're hardly one to talk," Hermione laughs, earning a chuckle from the group.
"And you fancy Ron so you're entirely biased!" Ginny replies, laughing at Hermione who tries to protest but it's a hopeless endeavour. "I need someone who is completely neutral here and doesn't fancy one of my brothers"
"Have you seen Bill? That'll be hard to find!" Parvati says, earning a giggle from the girls in the group. Fred and George groan simultaneously in defeat at hearing their oldest brother's name brought up, once again being the target of girls affections.
"Aha! Y/n!"
You walk down the stairs from your dorm, throwing a cardigan over your shoulders as you walked, only to be greeted by the group in the common room who all look up at you expectedly as Ginny calls you over.
"You're unbiased," she begins to say, pausing briefly as you move to be beside the couch where George and Fred sat, perching on the arm of the sofa next to Fred.
"I don't know, dark magic isn't really my thing," you say sarcastically, earning a chuckle from the brothers next to you.
"Not that! Are ginger men unattractive? I need someone unbiased, someone who hasn't shagged or wants to shag my brothers," she says, getting comically irate as she desperately tries to prove her point.
George suddenly snorts out a loud laugh that he desperately tries to cover with a fake cough, leading Ginny to shoot daggers at him and then you.
"You haven't!" She spits out, turning her head to shoot daggers at her brother. "George!"
"Course not!" He says trying to seem as honest as he can as he raises his hands in surrender.
"No way," you reply sincerely.
"I would never do that to you," George says in complete honesty, though his resolve is cracking quickly and you can hear a tone of humour in his voice, though it appears Ginny didn't pick up on it.
"Oh," Ginny says, realising her mistake and shooting an apologetic look at you and then George.
"Me however..." Fred says with a laugh, admitting everything, immediately making a blush form on your cheeks as you all laugh at Ginny's over the top gasp. She throws a cushion at Fred who laughs, grabbing it and throwing it onto his brother beside him. He then reaches up to grab you and slide you across into his lap as you squeal, feeling his cold hands wrapping around your waist as he holds you firmly on his lap, placing a kiss in your hair, finally able to in public now the secret was out.
"No way! Do I not have one friend that hasn't slept with my brothers?!"
"We haven't," Padma and Parvati say quickly and defensively in complete sync.
"Although if Bill offered..." Padma adds, causing another groan to fall from Fred and George. George dramatically groans and falls back to lean on you as Fred's head drops into your shoulder in disgust, causing you to laugh.
"Well at least I know who my true friends are," Ginny huffs, though her words hold no weight as she smiles sarcastically.
"Or future sister in laws," George quips, only to be smacked by another cushion, this time launched by Hermione.
When no laugh comes from Fred as expected, you turn to look at him questioningly only to be met with a small smile tugging at his lips. When he catches you looking, he offers a sort of one sided shrug, eyebrows raising with a wide smile, as if he completely agreed with George.

“on the down low”
harry james potter x f!weasley!reader
no voldemort au
summary: you and harry have been hiding your relationship from your family for four months, but when he stays over for the holidays, they start to uncover the truth, one by one.
warnings: idk how long this is but it feels long, kissing, fluff, CHRISTMAS
me pretending voldemort doesn’t exist again for the sake of plot convenience and my own happiness
Tumblr media
Godric, you hadn’t realized how hard it would be to pretend over the holiday. At first, it seemed like a dream come true. Harry staying at the burrow for Christmas meant you’d be able see him whenever you wanted, but you couldn’t exactly do what you wanted.
During the day, you and Harry had to act indifferent to each other, like you hadn’t been together since the end of the summer.
It was different than it was at Hogwarts, where nobody suspected a seventh year to go for her brother’s best friend, who was a year younger. That excluded Hermione, of course, who was just too damn smart to not figure you out.
You hadn’t realized how easy it was to sneak around in a giant castle with a multitude of empty classrooms and an invisibility cloak at your disposal compared to your house of nine other people where the walls were thin and the furniture was old, regardless of proximity between you.
You kicked Harry’s foot under the dinner table. He looked up from his plate and stared at you, bewildered. You nodded to your mother who had just asked him a question he clearly hadn’t heard.
She looked at him expectantly, waiting for his response. “Sorry?” He took his gaze away from you and onto Molly.
“Harry, I asked you if you’ve gotten yourself a girlfriend this year?” she clarified.
Harry spluttered, glancing at you quickly before looking back at her. He cleared his throat. “No, I haven’t.”
Your mother tutted. “A shame, really. Let’s hope you don’t end up like Charlie. Such a handsome boy, and yet, he can’t find a nice woman to settle down with,” she sighed and turned her attention to your older brother, who was rolling his eyes.
Harry looked relieved that he was no longer the one being questioned. “Mum, stop it. I’m only 22. I’m too young to settle down. Bill’s older and he’s not married.”
Bill stopped mid bite to gesture violently at Charlie to cut it out, but Molly paid him no mind.
“Spend your whole life with dragons, see if I care,” she responded vehemently. “Let’s hope your sister doesn’t go off with you to Romania when she graduates.”
Now it was your turn to roll your eyes as you became your mother’s new subject of torture. It was true, you were looking into a career with dragons, but it was unlikely you’d end up on the same reserve as your brother.
“You know, darling, you ought to find a nice boy. It would do you well.”
You grimaced. “And here we are, back to your favorite topic.”
“Not mine,” Fred interjected.
“Certainly not,” George added. “She’s not allowed to date.”
“Oh, she’s not, is she?” Ginny said, giving you a seemingly knowing look. Merlin, you could only hope she knew nothing.
“No, and neither are you, Gin,” Fred said swiftly.
“We’ll that’s unfortunate,” Ginny looked at you smugly. “Because I think our sister has had her eye on someone.”
Harry turned paler than normal, looking at you in alarm, his face saying, ‘Did you tell her?’ Hermione, to his side, gave you a similar look.
Your face heated under the eyes of your entire family. You shot Ginny a glare before deciding to get her back. “That’s what you think, but I know you bloody well fancy Dean Thomas.”
The focus shifted from you to Ginny. “Dean Thomas?” said Ron, staring at your sister in astonishment.
“Who’s Dean Thomas?” your mother asked cheekily.
Ginny groaned, hiding her red face in her hands. “I’m excusing myself. Goodnight, family.”
She stood up from the crowded table and basically threw her plate into the sink before running upstairs.
“Seriously, who’s Dean Thomas?” your mum asked for the second time.
“A boy in Ron’s year,” you explained briefly. “He’s perfectly decent,” you elaborated further, once you realized your family’s eyes were unrelenting.
“Well, who does she think you fancy?” Bill said, grinning. Why did the first thing he contributed during this conversation have to target you? Why couldn’t it have been revenge on Charlie?
“How should I know? I haven’t told her anything that would make her think I was interested in anyone.” That was a lie. You did tell her something.
“Are you?” Bill followed up.
“That’s really none of your business,” you said, standing up from the table and clearing your plate.
“As long as it’s not someone in our year, that’s what I say.” Ron nudged Harry, looking at his friend who nodded weakly.
You began to walk up the stairs, but not before shooting Harry a look that pleaded him to come upstairs when he could get away. Because of your circumstances, you’d gotten very good at giving each other wordless glances like these.
A little while later, a pajama clad Harry entered your room, checking the hall for anyone before closing the door behind him.
“Ron thinks I’m in the bathroom. Did you tell Ginny about us?” he said hurriedly.
“Of course not,” you denied. “I may have given her a hint though.”
Harry’s eyes widened. “What?”
“I didn’t mean to! She was talking about Dean, and asked me if I liked anybody, and who am I to lie, so I said yes.”
“Um,” Harry interjected. “One problem with that is that we lie about our relationship every day. You are a liar.”
“Don’t interrupt me, Harry. Anyway, she asked me who and I wouldn’t tell her, so she started listing names. She asked me what I thought of you, and I let it slip that I thought you were cute,” you said sheepishly, toying with a button on his shirt. “I think I scared her off with the Dean thing, we should be in the clear.”
Harry only grinned. “You think I’m cute?”
“Oh shut up, would you?” you said, pushing his chest away from yours.
“Sure.” He pulled you back by the waist, his hands resting on your hips as he ducked down to kiss you. He tasted like toothpaste, but you really didn’t mind it.
He was about to pull away after a moment, but you tangled your fingers in his hair, keeping his mouth attached to yours.
“I’ve missed you all day,” Harry murmured against your lips.
“Godric, me too.” You clung onto him like you knew it wouldn’t last, and it didn’t. Ron called out to Harry from somewhere in the hallway, and Harry pulled away from you. His glasses were fogged up and he was cursing Ron.
When the lenses cleared, he leaned down to press another chaste kiss to your lips. “I’ll see you in the morning,” he whispered, exiting the room quietly.
You slumped onto your bed, staring at the open door with a forlorn look on your face. Ginny suddenly appeared in the doorway, her mouth hanging open and her hand pointing to the end of the hall, then to where you sat.
“What- what have I just witnessed? Why? This changes life as we know it. You! And Harry! You-“
You hurried to cut her off, standing from the bed and practically sprinting to the door to cover her mouth. “You be quiet now,” you warned, looking both ways in the hall and shoving Ginny inside your room.
“Why did I see Harry leaving this room looking like he’s got something to hide?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Listen, lady, you didn’t see anything, because nothing happened,” you said, pointing a finger at her.
“I never said anything happened, I just said he had something to hide. And guess what? I know he has something to hide, because I know you like him,” she retaliated, pointing her finger right back.
“Who? Me? Like Harry? Psssshhh… you’ve got the wrong girl. That doesn’t sound anything like me.”
Ginny folded her arms over her chest. “Oh really? Well, does this sound like you? Oh, Ginny, Harry’s just so cute! I wish he would like me back because, well, I just love him so much!” She batted her eyelashes, imitating a version of you that didn’t exist.
“Actually, Gin, that sounds nothing like me, so you can just forget anything that you think you saw,” you retorted.
“I don’t think I will forget. I think I’ll just tell everyone that you’re sneaking around with Harry. I didn’t miss the look he gave you at dinner either! So I can tell everyone, or you can quit lying and just give me all the details.”
She did have a way of getting you to cave. Really, it was just tactful manipulation.
“Alright fine, but if you tell anyone, you’re dead. Well, you can tell Hermione. She already knows.”
Ginny gasped, very offended. “You told her before your own sister?”
“I did not! She’s too smart for her own good. Anyways, sit down.”
Then, you told Ginny everything. It felt actually good to be able to talk about your relationship to someone other than Hermione, especially to your only sister, who you were honestly very grateful for.
You told her about how he kissed you a week before you left for school, solidifying the relationship you were having throughout the summer holiday. You told her about how he was funny and such a gentlemen. You even told her about how you’d been sneaking off since school started, and what you’d been doing.
Once Ginny was fully satisfied with the information and you were relatively sure she wouldn’t squawk to any of your brothers, she bid you goodnight and went to bed.
The following morning, Christmas Eve morning, you had risen later than usual. “Good morning, family,” you greeted, entering the kitchen and heading straight for the kettle.
“Morning,” Ginny said from the table. “I trust you slept well. I expect you feel loads lighter now.”
“Oh yeah, much lighter,” you grinned back.
“What are you two on about?” Bill said from his seat across from Ginny.
“Oh, nothing. Our sister just shared some interesting things with me last night,” she hummed.
You saw Harry’s head perk up from the couch, where he was laying. Ron was sprawled on the floor below.
“Gin, shut up,” you warned quietly.
“I’m not even sure I want to know,” Bill said.
“Oh, you’d be delighted, I’m sure. But, alas, I’ve been sworn to secrecy,” Ginny sighed.
“Then why even bring it up, you idiot?” you said as you sat down next to her, carefully eyeing a nervous looking Harry.
Bill followed your gaze and whistled lowly. You almost had a heart attack. “I see. That is very interesting.”
You turned to face your sister. “Look what you’ve done now. Why not just shout it from the rooftops?” you scolded.
“I didn’t say anything!” she defended.
“She’s right, you gave yourself away,” Bill confirmed, leaning in to whisper, “You’re lucky Ron’s pretty clueless on the floor over there.”
Your face burned. “Just don’t tell anybody.”
“Now why would I do that? It’s a whole lot more fun if you do it yourself.” Bill grinned, leaving you and Ginny at the table.
You dropped your head into your arms.
Later, you and Harry sat in the yard, leaning against a tree. You were on the side that couldn’t be seen from your siblings’ makeshift quidditch game across the yard.
It was the nicest day of break so far, not too cold, but not necessarily warm either. There was a dusting of snow on the ground, which delighted you.
You were lying in Harry’s lap, gazing up at him as he mindlessly played with your hair. “I can’t believe you told Ginny,” he said for the tenth time since breakfast.
You rolled your eyes and sat up. “I already told you, she was nagging me. Plus, I can’t really talk to Hermione about this sort of thing. She’s hung up on Ron. I keep telling her Lavender was just a phase because of some stupid love potion infused chocolate, but she usually just goes glum and ignores me.”
“You could just stop talking about us,” he suggested, shrugging his shoulders.
“You wouldn’t understand,” you said, reaching forward to fiddle with the zipper on his jacket.
“Why? Am I too charming and handsome for you to shut up about?” He grinned, taking hold of your hand and pressing it to his chest.
“Something like that.” You smiled, but quickly stopped when you saw the smug look on his face. “Don’t let that get to your head, Potter.”
“I won’t,” he said, leaning in to kiss your lips. His free hand came up to frame your face, and you placed yours on his thigh. You had half a mind to pull away, but only enough to see his face.
“Harry, we can’t do this out here. My siblings are right over there. Someone could see us,” you said softly, staring up at his bright green eyes.
“Honey, if you keep looking at me like that, I’m not gonna care,” he said, breath heavy as he looked at you adoringly. Your stomach did flips and you instantly forgot about reasons to hold yourself back.
You surged forward, kissing him hard on the mouth. You knew you wouldn’t get the chance to do so until well after dinner, so you took advantage of your siblings being distracted. He responded enthusiastically, wrapping an arm around your waist, tugging you closer.
“Woah, looks like I’ve caught more than just the snitch!”
You sprang apart, wiping your mouth as you looked up to see one of your grinning brothers, hovering above the tree on a broomstick holding a little golden sphere.
“Charlie! This isn’t what it looks like,” you managed, pushing yourself as far away from Harry as possible.
“Really, because it looks like you’ve been snogging his face off,” Charlie said, looking pleased with himself.
Harry burned bright red, refusing to make eye contact with either of you.
“Charlie, what’s taking you so long?” you heard Ron call from the other side of the yard.
“I’ll keep this a secret, but only because I love you, little sister. And because it’s funnier this way.” Charlie grinned again and turned on his broom to speed back to the group.
You and Harry left for the house before anyone else did, completely ignoring Hermione on the couch, her nose deep in a thick book, as you rushed upstairs.
Once you were sure you were alone, you stopped Harry in the middle of the hallway. “Okay, that was the last time. No more doing that in the open.”
“Sorry, got carried away. At least it wasn’t Ron who saw us.” Harry shuttered, not even wanting to think about what his reaction would be.
“Shake it off, Harry. Just three, only three of them know. There’s like a bajillion others that don’t,” you rationalized. “Look, we just need to get through this holiday without anyone else finding out that we’re together. I think we can do that.”
“You lied to mother?” A stiff voice came from down the hallway. Shit. You forgot Percy was still in the house, holed up in his room doing his Ministry work.
Harry’s eyes widened as he shook his head at you, refusing to turn around.
“You’re seeing someone and you lied about it?” Percy frowned. “Well, I’ll have to tell her.”
“No, you won’t have to tell her. Don’t tell her. Please,” you practically begged.
Percy didn’t look convinced. His steely gaze wouldn’t let up. “I won’t if you promise me to tell her.”
“I promise, Perce, just let me do it when I’m ready,” you said, less of a real promise and more of a strategy to get him to go back into his room. You were thanking God when he nodded curtly and did just that.
“Well, would you look at the impeccable timing on that,” Harry said sarcastically.
You grimaced. “Dinner’ll be a real treat tonight.”
Dinner was not a treat. It was delicious, of course, courtesy of your mother. But it was quite tense, at least for you and Harry.
Bill kept shooting you knowing glances from across the table, looking back and forth between you and Harry, who made the seemingly unconscious choice to sit beside you.
Charlie couldn’t even look at you without snickering to himself, prompting your mum to start questioning him on his odd behavior.
Percy was silently urging you to say something about it, pulling at his collar uncomfortably and staring at you, unrelenting.
Ginny was, thankfully, docile for the time being.
“Charlie, would you stop laughing at your sister? I don’t see what’s so funny about her,” Molly scolded, finally having quite enough of your brother’s behavior.
“Nothing’s funny,” he said with a hint of a smile.
Bill was looking at him with his eyes narrowed slightly. “What do you know?” he asked suspiciously.
“What do you know?” Charlie replied, just as skeptical.
“I think the better question is, what does dad know about muggles?” You laughed nervously, getting weird looks from Ron and the twins. “Come on, dad. Why don’t you tell us about your latest case?”
Your father looked up from his meal, looking surprised, for he had hardly been acknowledged since the start of dinner. “Oh, well, we had an odd couple in the other day. They were the sort who didn’t really look like they belonged together. So, anywho, they-“
“Hold on,” Ginny interjected. “How do you know they didn’t belong together? There are loads of couples who you might not think belong together, but actually do, so it’s best not to judge before you know the whole story.”
Your dad looked confused. “Um, I guess they just didn’t seem compatible, but I’m sure they belong together just fine, Gin, no need to worry about that.”
As he continued with his story about this couple and their illegally enchanted carpet, you turned to glare at Ginny.
She gave you a rather obvious look of annoyance, which gained the attention of Fred and George.
“Something’s going on here, Freddie,” said George, leaning to his right.
“Agreed,” said George, looking around the table.
You actually heard Harry gulp beside you. You put a hand on his knee, attempting to comfort him. This action made him choke on the sip of water he had taken.
“All right there, Harry?” Ron asked.
“Oh, yeah,” Harry coughed. “Just fine.”
Percy cleared his throat. “Maybe he has something to say.”
“Percy, don’t be rude,” your mother scolded. “The boy’s just choked.”
“Yeah, Percy, don’t know why you’d think he wants to say something,” Ginny said. “So, keep your mouth shut.”
None of the siblings who knew had known that others at the table were also aware, but they were each starting to connect the dots.
“Can I just have a nice Christmas Eve dinner with my family?” Molly slammed one hand on the table. “Enough of the fighting and the strange comments. Please, just be normal.”
Fred grinned. “I can’t imagine what’s abnormal about us.”
“Oh, me neither. But you, Freddie, are abnormal looking,” George followed.
The rest of the night after dinner was just as stressful. You and your siblings were sitting around the living room, with the exception of Percy, who, to your immense relief, had gone back to his room for work.
Fred and George decided it would be a good idea to play a game of truth or dare with the assistance of some veritaserum they nicked from Snape’s stores the day before holiday began.
Needless to say, you and Harry were not excited.
“Hermione,” Fred said. “Truth or dare?”
Hermione rolled her eyes as George made a gesture that suggested she should choose truth. “Dare,” she said.
“I dare you to go outside and kiss one of the gnomes.”
“A gnome, Fred? Really?” Ron scoffed.
“You’d rather she kissed you, would you?” George teased.
Ronsaid nothing, but his ears turned red, giving him away.
Hermione’s face turned a similar shade as she stood up from the armchair. “Fine, then.”
You all collectively gathered around the window and watched Hermione stalk outside and grab one of the ugly gnomes by its bald head. She made a disgusted face and gave the gnome a peck so fast that you barely saw it.
She came back inside and washed her mouth out in the sink before returning to the chair. “George,” she said coolly. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth, of course!” George said happily. “We’ve got to put our stolen goods to good use.”
“It was very wrong of you to take Professor Snape’s materials,” Hermione said, frowning. “Is it true that you were the ones who gave Ron amortentia spiked chocolates last month?”
“Yes,” George said easily.
Ron scoffed loudly. “You told me that wasn’t you! You said it was her! I was following Lavender Brown around for weeks because of those!”
“Well, we hadn’t meant for you to go for her. It was supposed to be someone else.” George winked at Hermione.
“We messed up the potion,” explained Fred.
George looked to you. “Truth or dare?” he asked.
“Truth,” you said mindlessly, thinking about Hermione and the gnome. You noticed the alarmed look Harry was giving you and realized your mistake. Damn gnome.
George grinned mischievously. “Do you really have a boyfriend?”
“Yes,” you said unwillingly.
A gasp from Ron could be heard from the other side of the room. Ginny and Hermione were looking rather nervous for you. On the contrary, Bill and Charlie were quite amused.
“Tell us, who is he?” Fred continued off of George.
“Harry Potter,” you admitted before slapping a hand across your mouth.
An even louder gasp could be heard from Ron that caused Charlie to burst out laughing. Fred and George were looking rather pleased with themselves. You supposed that was better than them pranking the life out of Harry for dating their sister, which you had expected to happen.
Harry sat on the couch with his hands clenched at his sides, looking at the floor as his whole face turned red.
“My sister, Harry? Really?” Ron said, his voice carrying a mixture of anger and betrayal.
“Yeah, well, I love her,” Harry said, fully dropping his head into his palms. He definitely hadn’t meant to say that to everyone in the room. “I hate this damn potion.”
“The heart wants what it wants, Freddie,” said George.
“It sure does, Georgie,” Fred said, clasping his hands together over his chest.
“Honestly, this is a Christmas miracle,” Hermione burst out. “I’ve been covering for you for months. Four, horrible, long months.”
“Four months?” Ron said, bewildered. “Hermione, you knew and you never told me?”
“Oh, please, Ronald. If you opened your eyes you would’ve seen what was going on,” Hermione said.
“Easy for you to say, you’re bloody brilliant. You could spot anything off. I love that about you,” Ron confessed.
Bill and Charlie were wheezing on the floor at this point.
“This is the gift that keeps on giving!” Fred exclaimed.
“I’m so happy we played this game,” George said through laughs.
Hermione stood, cheeks burning. “We should all go to bed. It’s Christmas tomorrow.” She went up the stairs quickly. Ron seemed to have forgotten all about you and Harry and followed her.
Your other four brothers slowly made their way upstairs, practically dying from laughter at your expense.
Ginny stood awkwardly, bidding you and Harry goodnight and leaving you alone in the room.
“That could’ve gone worse,” you said, finally making eye contact with Harry, who was still looking a little red.
“I, for one, didn’t fancy confessing my love for you to your whole family,” Harry said, scooting over to your spot on the couch.
“I did.” You grinned, leaning towards him. He rolled his eyes, but indulged you anyways, letting his lips touch yours.
“Merry Christmas, Harry,” you whispered against him. “I love you, too.”

Warnings: this is bookended with scenes that take place after the war, but obviously this is a Fred Lives AU; part of this takes place after main storyline of Deathly Hallows and part of it takes place in a flashback during Goblet of Fire (when Fred and the reader are in their sixth year); the reader and Fred are the same age; while part of this takes places post Deathly Hallows, there isn't mentions of the war; it's never mentioned exactly how long the reader was away, but the reader and Fred are both in their early 20s in the bookended parts; drinking and drunkenness are major plot points in this fic, as well as underage drinking; underage characters being in a bar/pub; Fred and the reader both drink, but there are mentions of Fred seeming more sober than the reader/handling his alcohol better; they are drunk to the point of lowering their inhibitions, but not to the point of passing out or forgetting things; mentions of George x Katie Bell as a background ship; mentions of splinching/the dangers of Apparating while drunk (does not actually happen in the fic, everyone is fine); mentions of vomiting due to over consumption of alcohol (doesn't happen to any of the main characters of this fic, it's a very small background element); passing mention of a cursed object that makes people spit up their own blood; creepy men approach the reader (and Fred defends her) - minor sexual harassment from older men toward the reader; this does use Y/N (I started out as a Quizilla girly, I will live and die by Y/N); this is mostly just mutual pining and fluff with a love confession at the end. So please enjoy!!
A/N: when I read the original request, I was inspired to take it a lot further, and after writing The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes, I have realized that I really loving writing simplistic fics that are mutual pining that turns into a love confession. It's so much fun.
...
“So then - so then - Bill says: ‘where’s Percy?’, and Mum looks around the table and realises Perce is even there.” George chuckled brightly, topping off the telling of another one of their chaotic childhood stories.
“‘Course, Mum blamed it on us.” Fred said, rolling his eyes.
“As if she was wrong!” You argued, reaching out and smacking him on the shoulder playfully.
Your words were louder to your own ears than you had intended to say them, slurring slightly on your lips. Perhaps you had more to drink than you had realised, but you were simply having fun catching up with your dearest, oldest friends. So you couldn’t bring yourself to truly care or view it as a problem.
You were simply overjoyed to see Fred and George again.
You were visiting England for the first time in years, and naturally, the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes shop had been your first stop. You had grown up with the twins - since your first year at Hogwarts together, they had been two of your closest friends. Ever since you had been sorted into Gryffindor with them, the three of you had been thick as thieves. Right from the moment you had suggested to them that they actually unscrew a toilet seat lid and send it to their little sister Ginny in the post when they had initially just been joking about doing so. Ginny had found it highly amusing - their mother, not so much.
But when you met Molly for the first time in person, you were always on her good side. You were very good at playing the ‘perfect angel’ in front of authority figures (unlike the twins). So you could very easily bat your eyelashes and say a few sweet things, as well as being on your best behaviour on the surface, before sneaking around with the twins at night and helping them with their pranks - not that anyone else ever suspected you of doing so.
You were the perfect accomplice for them. Someone who was labelled as a goody-two-shoes who was down for mischief at any time.
You had been slightly heartbroken when you found out that they were planning to quit their Seventh Year partyway through in order to start their joke shop. You knew that it had always been a dream of theirs, and it was your dream to see them succeed in it. But a large part of you had been hoping to graduate with your best friends by your side. They had offered for you to come with them, of course. They told you that you could have a very fulfilling career at the shop. But you had other plans for yourself.
So you watched them ride off on their brooms, cheering and hollering for them alongside everyone else. And after your graduation, you had come to visit the shop in its full glory, seeing its whimsical beauty with your own eyes before you left England. As much as you hated that your lives had taken such different paths, you admired them deeply for succeeding.
Since then, you had been in France. You had taken on a prestigious healing apprenticeship in order to become a high level Healer. It was something you had always dreamed of doing - helping people through the skilled art of healing.
Perhaps, in some ways, it was a career choice inspired partially by your two best friends - seeing them blow themselves up or get horrible boils testing their own products, you wanted to be able to soothe the side effects faster. And you knew that there were plenty more children out there like them. Children who would fall from trees pretending to be a dragon or lose their teeth trying to eat a deck of Exploding Snap, children who needed gentle understanding from a Healer rather than scolding.
You had recently finished up your apprenticeship, and you were hoping to get a job at St. Mungo’s to be closer to the people you always viewed as family. But even just stepping foot back in the twins’ shop felt like home. You had been greeted with tight hugs and so much chatter between them about missing you that you could barely decipher the words between two voices. They had invited you up to the flat above the shop for a drink - so now, hours later, you were quite tipsy and feeling the best that you had in years.
“You know boys, I haven’t - I haven’t been this tossed off my tits in quite a while!” You announced loudly, pausing between words to let out a small hiccup, signifying just how drunk you were.
You weren’t at the level of drunk where things were unpleasant - not where the room was spinning and you were on the verge of passing out, battling with nausea. But your normal sense of proprietary had definitely been tossed out the window, you felt fuzzy around the edges, and everything felt delightfully warm. Especially considering you had been drinking Fire Whiskey.
You hadn’t had a drink all throughout your apprenticeship, as much as the other young people working with you encouraged you to ‘take a load off’ every once and a while. Your work was something that you took very seriously (especially when Fred and George weren’t around to tempt you with pranks and daily mischief). So this was the first time in a long time that you had actually taken the time to relax, and the alcohol was hitting you a lot harder than even you realised.
The boys chuckled at your words, George turning bright red from how hard he was laughing. Perhaps the booze was hitting him pretty hard too. While Fred’s eyes were dancing with that brightness they always had when he was having fun, he didn’t seem quite as sloppy. You hadn’t been paying attention, but he likely didn’t have as much to drink, and had simply been enjoying your company the entire time.
“You know, I really missed you, Fred and George.” You said, pure sincerity dripping through your tone, your affection amplified in your chest by your drunkenness. You couldn’t hold yourself back - your emotions bubbling to the surface without your consent. “And I really, really missed you, Fred.”
You turned to him, putting a warm hand on his shoulder, your touch practically burning up through the sleeve of his silken shirt (you were surprised by how nicely the twins dressed now that they were established bussinessmen). You hated that you couldn’t hold back the need to emphasise the fact that you had missed Fred just a bit more. But he had been on your mind a lot more than his brother had, as scarily similar as they were.
Even if you had barely admitted it to yourself, throughout all your years at Hogwarts, you had a romantic inclination towards Fred.
It was never something you had acted on, for fear of ruining the amazing friendship that the two of you had. But as your visit to England grew closer and closer, you found yourself losing focus on your work and thinking about him more and more. You wondered if he had found someone - you wondered if his good looks, his charm, his humour had landed him a wife in the time that you had been gone. It wouldn’t have surprised you if, during the time you had been gone, he had married or even had kids.
Obviously he had a wonderful career nailed down, so a family would have been the natural next step for him.
Those thoughts made you approach the shop’s door with equal parts dread and excitement. You eagerly wanted to see him again but didn’t want to see that there was a ring on his finger. You had been all too happy to find out during your long, winding ‘catch up’ conversation that, in fact, he was still single. George had brought up that fact more than once, actually, nagging on his brother’s lonely status like it was the most recent funny joke he could prod at.
When you heard him talk about it, there was that insecurity still bubbling beneath the surface - the thought that you had missed your chance, or that Fred had never been interested in you romantically at all. It was something that couldn’t even be knocked away by booze, and that was gnawing at you now that storytime was winding down.
Fred and George exchanged a look - one of those silent conversations that could only be had through micro-expressions because of their closeness as twins. It was something that had always deeply irritated you during your days at Hogwarts, desperately trying to decipher if it meant ‘close to expulsion’ trouble or simply ‘skipping a class’ trouble.
“Well, would you look at the time,” George said, loudly and rather cartoonishly as he looked at his watch. It was something that you likely would have found suspect if you weren’t feeling hazy and drunk. “I told Katie I would pop over to hers sometime this weekend, so I should get going,”
Something that had come as a brilliant surprise to you: finding out that George was now engaged to Katie Bell.
Not only were you shocked to know that George seemed more than eager to ‘settle down’ and get married, but you were entirely curious about how they came to be as a couple. Especially considering that, as far as you knew, she had always seemed to find the twins’ pranks more annoying than anything else.
But you supposed that annoyance and attraction were two twigs on the same branch, the tree just needed to be shaken a little for something romantic to happen. The two of them hadn’t officially moved in together yet, as much as George talked about her with those sweet, rose-coloured lenses, and seemed to want to spend all his time around her. The twins still lived in the flat above the shop, two twin beds in the bedroom, as they always had in their room at the Burrow. But from the way Fred remarked on it, and from what you had seen glancing into their bedroom when you had gotten up to use the toilet, George was over at Katie’s far more than he was at their flat.
You couldn’t help but to find it sweet. George was in love.
It made you happy for him, knowing that he had found someone good for him. But thinking about it caused a pang in your chest as you wondered if Fred was lonely. You knew that loneliness certainly wasn’t a feeling that he was used to. If it was you or George, or one of his many other brothers, he always had someone at his side to keep him company.
You could only imagine what those nights were like - when the shop closed up and George popped off to his soon to be wife’s place, leaving Fred to nothing but the quiet. (You knew that Weasleys were never good with quiet - part of the reason that the twins were the way that they were.)
George peeled himself off the floor, where the three of you had been sitting around the coffee table in the lounge. Like a gangly baby deer, he began stumbling about due to his own drunkenness before he gained a proper footing and finally managed to stand up straight. You let out a snorting laugh at the sight and Fred - very clearly the most sober of the three of you - rushed out of his seat to grab George by the shoulders, making sure that his brother was alright.
“You sure that you’re okay to Apparate, Georgie?” Fred asked.
That kindness, that caring - it was something people often overlooked when they saw Fred Weasley. But it was one of the things that had drawn you to him the most. He was such a sweet person, and he cared about the people in his life with such a ferocity that it made your soul ache just to know that you were one of them.
“I’ll be fine, Freddie.” George replied.
Fred picked up George’s coat and began helping him into it, and you barely paid attention to the hushed conversation that the two of them had as you picked up the large (now rather light) bottle of Fire Whiskey and poured yourself another drink.
You caught something online the lines of ‘just go for it, for Merlin’s sake’ - very strained and annoyed, but you honestly had no clue what they were talking about. As you took a sip of your drink - you truly didn’t care.
Fred heaved out a sigh and then George disappeared with a crack. You craned your neck to look at the spot where he had been, just wanting to make sure that there was no blood or unsightly pieces of George left behind. There weren’t any - he had done fine.
“Havin’ another one, are we?” Fred remarked, walking around the coffee table to collapse onto the plush couch behind your back.
You chugged the rest of the Fire Whiskey from your glass all in one go, growling slightly as it burned sharply down your throat before you put the glass down once again.
“I’m celebrating!” You cheered loudly - again, much louder than you intended it to be. “I missed my best friends so much. It’s so - so good to be home.”
“But apparently you missed me just a bit more?” Fred chuckled, referring to your comment from before.
You moved to get up on the couch with him, and found your legs unsteady beneath you. Fred saw what you were doing and put a hand on your upper arm, hauling you back to sit on the cushions beside him. You moaned quietly at the warmth of his large hand on your bare skin, exposed by the camisole you were wearing. At one point, you had been wearing a nice cardigan, but you had stripped out of it as the alcohol drove your body temperature up.
You leaned back into the couch, and cuddled up against him. His body was soft and muscled at the same time, and he felt so nice against you. With your inhibitions lowered, you could see no fault in snuggling tightly into his side and laying your head on his chest. You wanted to simply enjoy the physical affection from a person you had missed so dearly.
You didn’t see the pure warring on Fred’s face as you did this - the confliction and yearning and hurt flashing over his features. He had missed you too, but he knew that you had missed him as a friend, just as a good friend, and not as the ‘one that got away’ that he had been thinking about every damn day since. But he could be cool about this, he told himself. He wouldn’t let his stupid feelings get in the way.
After a moment of pushing those pesky feelings back down, he finally relaxed into your touches and wrapped an arm around you, lazily brushing his fingers across the bare skin of your arm on the other side. You sighed happily at the feeling. From this close, he could smell the feminine floral waft of your perfume in combination with the hot cinnamon of the Fire Whiskey. And though it only made him yearn more, it was heaven.
He was all too happy to have you this close rather than you being so far away in France. He was happy to have you home.
“Do you want to stay the night?” He asked. “George’s bed will be empty, of course.”
He added on that second part quickly - he wanted you to feel comfortable, didn’t want to put any pressure on you to keep up this closeness, even if you seemed cuddly and affectionate because of your drunken state.
Originally, you had been planning to get a room at The Leaky Cauldron, but the twins’ shop had been your very first stop, and they had torn your suitcase out of your hands to bring it upstairs for you, so it was currently sitting off to the side of the lounge with your coat draped over it. And you never did get that room. Now, you realised it was laughable to think that you’d be staying anywhere but with friends, especially with the Molly Weasley hospitality baked right into them. You had to assume that even if George wasn’t at Katie’s, he would have slept on the couch so that you could take his bed anyway.
“Freddie, you know, I don’t think I’m going to get very far.” You said. “You - you got me pretty d-drunk.”
Fred smiled to himself. “Ah, I see. Once again, it is all my fault.”
It was something you did at large during your days at Hogwarts. You blamed him for yourself being late to class, you getting detentions, the few times you had ended up on Molly’s bad side. When in reality, you had always been a cheerful, willing participant in their chaos, you had always ‘blamed’ him for dragging you into it. But it only made him tempt you into more trouble.
“It is,” You sighed, turning your head to give him a wide grin. “You always g-get me into trouble.”
Fred let out a quiet laugh at this, and you laid your head on this chest once again. The two of you mulled in the comfortable silence for a few moments before you thought of something.
“You know, this-s reminds me, of - of the first time you got me drunk.” You told him with a laugh.
“Oh, god, back in sixth year?” He posed, returning to the memory himself. “That was epic. I still don’t know if I’d call it an epic disaster, or epic fun.”
“Bit of both.” You mumbled quietly. “Always is with you.”
Sitting there, curled up next to the lovely warmth of him, you remembered the night so fondly.
…
Leave it to Fred Weasley to pull you out of bed at half past two in the morning with no solid explanation as to why, aside from ‘we have plans’.
When you asked him why he couldn’t conduct those plans with George, as he usually did, he simply smirked and said that George had plans of his own. Which deeply worried you - but you tried your best to ignore it. You knew from experience that Fred wasn’t a walking troublemaker all the time.
In fact, the events of just a short week ago had proven that to you. He had invited you to the Yule Ball (as friends, of course) and the entire evening had been absolutely pleasant. No pranks - no water balloons, no coloured dye, no buckets of feathers, no charmed objects, no floods. It had been nothing but a delightful night of dancing and chatting with your friends.
Even now, as Fred pulled you into the mouth of a very small passageway that you had never seen before (one that caused you to slump over in order to walk through it), you pulled your scarf tighter around yourself and tried your hardest not to worry about what he might be up to. At the very least, if he was planning something large and disruptive, you would know about it, so that you wouldn’t be on the receiving end.
He had told you that these ‘plans’ involved going outdoors, so you had bundled up well, because there was still quite a few feet of snow outside and it was chilly, seeing as it was so late at night. But you hadn’t expected it to be so damn cold, walking in a random mystery tunnel underneath the school. Again, you had no clue where he was taking you or where the thing even led - you were simply glad when it became tall enough for you to straighten your back up.
“Where are we going, Fred?” You demanded harshly.
“You’ll see.” Fred told you, throwing a wicked grin over his shoulder at you as he continued to lead you forward through the darkness - the light of his wand being the only thing leading the way in the musty old tunnel.
“Nothing good ever happens when you say those words.” You replied, heaving a deep sigh.
“Well, perhaps, you could keep your mind open this time.” He said brightly. “Loosen up. Be open to all the possibilities that the universe has to offer you,”
You rolled your eyes at this. He was trying to direct your attention away from whatever scheme he had planned, that much was immediately clear to you.
“Is this an escape tunnel out of the country because you finally did something bad enough for your mother to kill you?” You joked. “Let me guess, you’re meeting George in Germany? What was it that finally pushed her over the edge? Did she find out that you two took bets at the World Cup? Did she find out about the-?”
Your words were abruptly cut off when Fred tapped his wand on the wall in front of him. It was a seemingly a dead end wall made of stone, keeping the two of you trapped at the end of the tunnel. But when he whispered some incantation under his breath, the stone began to grind loudly and it parted ways - letting in a gust of cold air from the outside, revealing the way out.
Fred stepped forward and you continued to follow him. As the stone grinded closed behind the two of you (now disguised as nothing more than a large, natural boulder) you gaped with shock as you saw a cluster of lights just down the hill and you quickly realised what it was.
“Hogsmeade.” You declared quietly, entirely shocked that you had walked through a dirty tunnel and ended up here.
Somehow, without getting caught - without setting off any charms that should supposedly be in place to keep the students on the school’s grounds.
Fred nodded proudly, grinning at you.
“How-?” You gaped.
“I have my ways, don’t I?” Fred said, his chest visibly puffing out with pride.
You decided not to question it. Especially because you fully understood it now - Fred was bored, he knew a way out of the school, and he simply wanted to have fun in Hogsmeade instead of laying in bed that night.
Fred took a hold of your hand as the two of you walked into town, and you took a quiet joy in observing Hogsmeade at night. Quite a few of the shops were closed, due to it being so late, which did make you wonder why Fred had even bothered to bring you there.
But he soon answered your question when he brought you to The Three Broomsticks - which was lit up, bustling and lively at this time. You knew that the front door was enchanted to alert the owner of underage wizards trying to pass through at certain times. Before you could even wonder what Fred’s plan was for that one - he led you around to the back, and he caught the back door out of someone’s hand as they ran outside and began puking in a snowbank, obviously unable to handle their liquor.
The two of you slipped in the back door completely undetected, seeing as it didn’t have those same enchantments to alert the owner of your presence. You began tingling with the glee that you always wore whenever Fred pulled you along to perform some mischief. You felt so joyous when you paired up to share wicked secrets with him. Fred had a talent for getting away with things (and other times, he so fabulously didn’t) - but he got away with a lot more than anybody ever realised, right under their noses. You felt clever just being around him most of the time.
With all the confidence in the world, still holding your hand, Fred pushed past some other rowdy patrons and waltzed right up to the bar. He tossed down a few Sickles (bet money that he and George had won from the World Cup, you could guarantee) and you couldn’t help but to grin at him as so confidently placed an order.
“Two Fire Whiskeys, please.” He announced, never once skipping a beat or faltering as any other underage person in a bar would.
It was strange to say, but Fred wore playful deception so well. You knew that you were staring at him with intense attraction written all over your face as you admired his antics. You simply hoped that he wouldn’t catch the love dopey look on your face and call you out on it.
“Coming right up, love-” Madam Rosmerta began to comply with his request without issue, but she took pause when she looked up from drying a glass with a rag long enough to truly look at the two of you.
That was the moment you thought it was over, for sure. You thought that she would send an angry owl up to Hogwarts, and the two of you would be done for. You began to imagine what kind of sick and twisted punishment McGonagall would have in store for the two of you - scrubbing cauldrons for weeks, trimming all the grass on the Quidditch pitch with scissors.
But somehow, Fred was a lot more clever than that. He wasn’t going to give up and simply let himself be caught.
“Aren’t you two a little… young to be in here?” She posed, glancing between the two of you and then looking back toward the front door, as though she was expecting the enchantments to suddenly begin wailing to alert her to a couple of underage wizards in the pub. Even though the two of you had successfully made it all the way over to the bar without that happening.
“Young?” Fred scoffed, putting on his very best tone of fake offence. “Honestly, woman, why would a couple of kids be in a pub at three in the morning?”
Rosmerta raised a brow at him, making it clear that she didn’t buy this - at least not yet.
Your stomach curled with nerves, and you tried your hardest not to show it on your face. You knew that this would either end in a spectacular punishment, or Fred would pull off one of his greatest hoaxes yet.
“Perhaps you might recognize us from when we were Hogwarts students,” Fred shrugged, trying his best to sound casual. “But we graduated year before last. And we just got off a very long shift with the Department of Cursed Objects, and we would simply like a drink.”
“Yeah, that last one was a doozy.” Your tongue moved before you gave it permission, and you found yourself leaning on the bar as you added onto Fred’s lie. “We had to hunt down this set of silver teaware that poisoned anyone who drank out of it. They were spitting up blood, and rotting from the inside out, choking on their own-”
“My apologies.” Rosmerta said, giving a curt smile. Clearly, she was increasingly uncomfortable with the graphic nature of your made-up story, and simply wanted you and Fred out of her way. “You must be right. The students from the school all start to blend together after the years. How ‘bout that drink then?”
She turned to grab a pair of non-cursed glasses, and when you glanced over at Fred, he was grinning widely at you.
“Good one.” He whispered into your ear, and you couldn’t help the shiver that went through you at the feeling of his hot breath on your neck. If asked, you would say that it was caused by the chill of someone opening the door, and not caused by your unbearable attraction to him.
When the drinks were placed on the bar in front of you, Rosmerta scurried off to attend to someone else. You picked up the glass that was half filled with the amber liquid, feeling intense victory and satisfaction flowing through you. In a predictable pattern, you and Fred gently clinked your glasses together.
But rather than making a congratulatory toast in celebration of getting away with the lies, you grinned widely at him as you said this:
“You’re a menace to society, Fred Weasley.”
“You love it.” He replied easily, giving you a cheeky wink as he tossed back the liquid in one clean gulp. He winced slightly and sucked in a breath sharply through his teeth. But it was clearly not his first time drinking, and you had to guess that Bill was the one responsible for that.
Wanting to match him, you did the same - you tipped the glass back, letting all of the liquid slide past your lips and down your throat in one go. It burnt sharply in a way that you absolutely weren’t expecting, and you began coughing and sputtering, giving away your amateur nature in one glance. It was lucky that Rosmerta wasn’t looking. Fred rubbed your back soothingly, though he did take a moment to laugh at you.
“Burns, doesn’t it?” He chuckled.
“You c-could’ve warned me.”
…
A short while later, the burn of the alcohol was certainly no longer a concern for you. You supposed that was part of the point - if booze made you drunk and detached from yourself, they didn’t have to make it taste good. Because after a while, you just didn’t taste it.
You and Fred were three rounds deep, and even though he was matching you drink for drink, he was far more composed than you were. He hardly seemed drunk at all, other than the cute way he giggled at your jokes. Perhaps it was because of his height, or his Quidditch playing muscles, but he was handling his alcohol surprisingly well.
You, on the other hand - you were properly sloshed.
You had shed most of your winter clothing and spread the pieces haphazardly around the table that Fred had sat the two of you at. And you were currently trying to balance one of the empty shot glasses on your forehead - just to prove that you could, while Fred watched on in amusement.
Of course, he was partially amused by your drunken antics, and partially watching your cleavage threaten to burst out of your tight, V neck tee shirt as you arched your back furiously, trying to keep the glass balanced there. Since you had shed off your jacket and thick jumper, this was what you were left in, along with your tight jeans and boots - and Fred found that he couldn’t keep his eyes off you.
“See! Told you I could do it!” You cheered, proud of yourself as you finally reached up and took the glass down, and then moved back to sit in your chair in front of Fred.
He couldn’t help but to smile at you. Honestly, he would never doubt you in anything you set your mind to. If you said that you could walk up walls or make Snape dance a jig, he would simply wait to watch it happen.
As he watched your proud smile and the way that the slightly drunken confidence caused you to sit up a bit taller, seeing the light from the fireplace gently kiss your skin - he was reminded of why he had brought you here in the first place. He let the alcohol in his own system give him courage (something that had been built into the plan) and he reached across the table, grabbing your hand gently with both of his.
The suddenly serious look that befell Fred’s face surprised you. That sense of surprise only grew when he took hold of your hand. He had more than captured your attention as he began to speak.
“Y/N, there’s something I really need to tell you.” Fred announced, his voice taking on a very rare serious quality.
It was something you had only heard from him when he talked about the possible ways to fund his joke shop or when you had fallen off a broom playing Quidditch at the Burrow and he had been worried about you being hurt. You nodded, stunned into silence, wondering if this meant bad news coming, eager for him to continue.
“Y/N, darling, you truly are the most amazing thing in my life.” He said, giving a small smile. Hearing this made your stomach tingle - it made the clasp of his hands around yours feel warmer. “You are so utterly brilliant. And you’re funny, and you’re the only girl I know who actually laughs at the stupid pranks I pull. I absolutely love spending time with you. I genuinely can’t imagine my life without you. So much so, that-”
“Hello, sweet thing.”
Fred’s words were disrupted by a deep voice, someone behind you who grumbled out these words and then let out a low whistle.
It took you a moment to realise that it was even directed at you. But when Fred’s face switched from that sweet smile to a harsh glare - a look that was rare for him, you followed his intense gaze over your shoulder to see what he was looking at.
It was a group of three men, much older than you, greasy-haired, wearing dark cloaks - staring at you like a pack of coyotes would stare at a hunk of fresh meat. Their gaze immediately made you feel naked, and though you were blazen hot, between the Fire Whiskey coursing through your system and the heat of the fireplace licking at you nearby, you had the urge to grab your jumper and pull it on over your head simply so that they would stop looking.
“Now what is a pretty thing like you doing in this dirty old pub?” One of the men asked, his voice feeling filthy in your ears and causing your spine to curl with disgust and something that you would hesitate to admit was fear. “Surely you must be lost, sweet thing. Need someone to show you the way home, then?”
You quickly jumped out of your chair and moved around the table to Fred’s side, where he had risen and easily swept you into his side with an arm around your shoulders. In a moment, you felt safer under his protective touch as he continued to glare at the men.
“Bugger off, then!” Fred ordered sharply.
“Oh, ‘bugger off’,” One of the others mocked Fred’s words in a whiny tone - clearly they didn’t take him seriously because he was obviously younger, even if he was quite tall for his age.
“What are you, her little boyfriend?” Another one of them joked.
“Yes, as a matter of fact, I am.” Fred stated confidently, tossing in the obvious lie. “And I can tell you that brushing your teeth is one of the first requirements to getting a woman of this calibre,”
You resisted the urge to laugh at how his statement made their faces immediately meek and embarrassed.
“Well, if she wants a real man, that’s up to her to decide.” The man said gruffly. “Innit, princess?”
When he tossed out the nickname, you felt bile curl in your stomach, and it took you only a second to move when Fred uttered his next words to you.
“Grab your coat. We’re leaving.”
You scrambled around the table to get your jumper, mittens, hat, scarf, and your coat. As you were reaching across to one of the chairs to grab the last item, one of the men actually had the audacity to grab your wrist, stopping you from pulling back with the item in hand.
“If the girl wants to stay and have fun, that’s her choice.” He grumbled.
You wanted to tout that no, your idea of fun wasn’t hanging around men like this, but your voice was shrunken down into your throat with fear.
His grip around you was stiff and painful, and you immediately looked to Fred - whose jaw was set with a seething anger that you had only seen in him once before (when Malfoy had dared to insult Ginny right in front of him). He reached one hand into his pocket and leaned on the table with the other hand.
The man still didn’t let go of you, and you wondered if Fred’s hand was sitting on his wand in his pocket.
“Listen, bud, I don’t speak troll, so I’ll say this very slowly for you,” Fred announced, his voice dark with anger. “Let. Her. Go.”
The man immediately became outraged at being called a troll, and he moved his hand off your wrist, curling it into a hefty fist that he moved to swing at Fred’s head.
Fred ducked out of the way seamlessly, and you pulled your coat into the pile of clothes at your chest as Fred’s hand came out of his pocket with a lump of something black that looked almost like ordinary coal. He tossed it down to the floor and it exploded into a cloud of pure, thick darkness. Before you could truly comprehend what was going on, Fred’s comforting arm was around your shoulders, guiding you back out the back door of the pub.
You were thankful to be surrounded by cool air, the anxiety unwinding around you as Fred guided you away from the scene.
“Freddie, that was amazing!” You gasped, more than happy to praise him for saving you from those creeps.
You trudged along through the snow, incredibly chilly now that the wind kissed your bare arms and you held your jumper and your jacket rather than wearing them. But you were distracted from that feeling as you stared at the pub. You heard muffled coughs and voices loudly complaining, and as you circled around to the front, you saw the dark smoke overtaking any light that was inside, so much so that it began to pour out from the chimney and leak out of the cracks around the front door.
“What was that?” You had to ask, looking on in pure curiosity of the concoction that he had released into the pub.
“...new product George and I have been working on,” Fred admitted, his voice quivering with nerves slightly as he heard the coughs and sputters from inside. “Should probably adjust the size of the pellets, though. That was a bit… much.”
“Everything about you is ‘much’, Fred.” You said, still feeling that beautiful drunken warmth. It morphed into pure admiration toward him that you could hardly hold back. “That’s what makes you great.”
Fred chuckled at this.
He helped you get dressed back in your warm clothes, and the two of you walked back to the castle through that secret tunnel once again. He never quite built up the courage to get back to that topic he had so badly wanted to discuss - the entire reason he had taken you to Hogsmeade in the first place. But he basked in the simple joys of the night as the two of you talked in the Gryffindor common room and eventually, you fell asleep cuddled up to his chest while lounging on a couch in front of the fire.
…
Now, all these years later, curled up on the couch with him much like you had been that night - you finally realised what he had been trying to say.
“Oh my god.” You gasped quietly, opening your eyes and sitting stark upright.
Fred was surprised by this, seeing as he thought that you were starting to fall asleep on his chest. He had been sitting there quietly, mentally debating if he should levitate you to bed or risk the neck cramps of sleeping upright on the couch himself.
“What?” He asked quietly, feeling entirely clueless.
“Oh. My. God!” You screamed, jumping off the couch and pointing an accusatory finger at him.
“What? What?!” He asked, the word growing in volume and sense of alarm in his mouth the longer you went without telling him what was wrong.
“That day - that day-” You were struggling to gather your thoughts into words, a drunken slur still slightly evident on your tongue. Though the anxiety and panic that had suddenly set in had woken up quite a few of your senses.
“What? What day?” Fred parroted back, even more confused.
“That day.” You repeated, pressing emphasis on the word. “That time, back in sixth year, when we snuck out to Hogsmeade.”
A look of dawning came across Fred’s features, and he became more sullen than you had ever seen him. It was something that punched you sharply in the chest as the realisation hit you even harder now.
You had been so stupid. How could you not have known it back then?
“You… you were gonna confess your feelings to me.” You said quietly, almost afraid to speak the words aloud.
Perhaps he could have saved himself some pain if he lied, but he saw no good sense in denying it.
“Yes.” He said quietly, unshed tears scraping the inside of his throat.
“What-?” Now it was your turn to gape with confusion. “Was that the only time? Why then?”
“That certainly was not the only bloody time.” Fred chuckled, the laughter sounding heavy and dark in his throat rather than joyous and light as it usually did coming from him. “I tried about a million other times before then - at the Quidditch World Cup, before we ran into your cousins who just so desperately needed your attention. On the train that year, before Katie burst in and stole you away to chat on about what a great summer you had. I thought perhaps you’d get the bloody point when I asked you to be my date to the Yule Ball.”
It felt as though an icy shard was shoved right through your heart.
You had been so stupid.
“I - I thought you asked me to go as friends.” You told him, entirely honest about your viewpoint.
“Well that just makes me feel like the biggest arse in existence.” Fred shrugged.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” You barked out, feeling an intense frustration rush over you.
You felt indignant, annoyed. You felt like something had been stolen from you - information, time that you should have spent with Fred as your boyfriend rather than the time you had spent simply wishing he was.
Fred scoffed at this, clearly hurt.
“Well, Y/N, at a certain point, I lost my balls!” He shouted back. That was a harsh thing to imagine - Fred Weasley losing the courage to take a risk. “I thought that after all the damn interruptions, the universe just didn’t want you to know that I’m hopeless bleedin’ in love with you.”
Your throat clenched up when he said it in the present tense - said like he still had those feelings for you. You wanted so badly to say it back, but your voice was caught in your throat for a harsh moment. It caused a pitiable silence over the room that made him rush to continue.
“Honestly, I thought - I thought it might be different after you left.”
He said quietly, his voice breaking around the words slightly.
“I thought that not seeing you every day… that I might be able to forget how I felt. But it only got worse. I thought about you every single day, and I missed you so badly. And now that you’re standing here in front of me - now, you’re not just some girl I fancied in school, now… you have turned into this magnificent woman that I love. And it would be my biggest regret if you didn’t know that.”
Fred confessed, his words so passionate that it caused tingles down your spine, and goosebumps across your arms.
“But you’re probably so drunk that you won’t remember this in the morning, and there’s probably some French arsehole named Pierre waiting for you-”
“There’s no one else.” You quickly blurted out, suddenly finding your voice.
Your body finally caught up to your mind, bursting with the urge for him to know this.
“It’s always been you, Fred Weasley.” You announced, your words slicing through the air like a diamond cutting through glass.
His eyes lit up and this, and he stared at you with the slightest bit of hope dancing across his features as he waited, holding his breath for you to possibly confirm the thing he had been dreaming about for years.
“And I certainly won’t forget this. No booze or potion - nothing could make me forget you saying the words I have always wanted to hear.”
You reached out and took a tight grip on the front of his shirt, pulling him toward you with force - you slammed your lips into his, finally doing the thing you had been dreaming of since you were a teenager. He let out a moan as you kissed him with as much intense passion as he had put into his words. Right as his tongue snaked toward your lips, you pulled back for a breath, and simply for good measure:
“I love you, Fred.” You breathed out.
“Oh, thank Merlin.”

Bill Weasley x Malfoy!reader. Met at Hogwarts, dating since graduation. Bill brings reader home and Weasleys hate her/treat her like flour until bill snaps them they get to know her. End with fluff
Warnings: slurs/general unkind words (nothing too serious), fighting, angst, Bill being an absolute sweetheart
It wasn't easy growing up a Malfoy. Everything you did was under scrutiny. Everything was about blood status. Your parents barely spoke to you anymore now that you had "betrayed" them by dating Bill Weasley. You two had met at Hogwarts, you'd had classes together every year, and eventually, the two of you bonded about being the eldest in your family. Eventually, one summer day, Bill had asked you to marry him. Of course, you said yes, however, you were regretting saying yes to spending time with his family. You had gotten to the burrow yesterday afternoon and no one had said a word to you. Maybe they thought you'd be like your family, but they clearly weren't interested in getting to know you. They would look at you and scoff before turning away. You expected a bit of apprehension from them. Bill had told you this was the first time he had brought a girl home and your family didn't exactly help, but you hadn't expected them to be this bad. Over the last day, they had escalated from ignoring you to saying blatantly rude things. They would call you a blood supremacist, a snake, and all sorts of other things.
The second night you were there you had enough at dinner.
All of his brothers had been making subtle comments since dinner started, you'd expected one of his parents to say something, but it seemed they agreed with them.
"J'aimerais y aller, s'il te plaît." I whisper leaning over to Bill after his mother's latest jab.
"What? English is beneath you, princess?" Bill's brother Ron jeers.
"Alright, that's enough," Bill says standing up from the table. "All of you have been nothing but rude to my fiancee since we got here. None of you have bothered to get to know her or even ask her anything about her. You haven't even bothered to make polite conversation that anyone could tell was fake. What is wrong with you? You used to be the most loving people. I get the world is messed up, but that's no excuse for your behavior. Come on, let's go." He says, finally turning to me and extending a hand. I take it, offering a polite smile at his family before we leave the room.
"You have to understand that we never expected you to bring someone like her home." His mother exclaims. That seems to stop Bill in his tracks. He turns around to face his family.
"Someone like what? You don't even know her. You always said that you never cared about blood, but it seems you care about her's." He says. "Let's go."
He turns back to me, taking my hand and leading me upstairs.
"I'm so sorry, darling. I can't believe they acted like that tonight." He says pulling me into a hug.
"Bill, you can't be serious?" I ask pulling away from him. "They've been acting like that since I got here. You haven't heard your brothers' comments about my 'murderous heritage'? Or your sister asking me to pull up my sleeves to check for a snake on my left arm? Or your mother calling me 'one of those people'? The only person who has been remotely kind to me is your father and he just hasn't said anything to me."
"I'm so sorry. I should have paid better attention. I have no idea why they're acting like this." He says softly, caressing my cheek. "We'll go first thing in the morning, okay?"
"We can't go, Bill. We're supposed to be having the wedding here. In the backyard with your parents and the rest of your family." I explain.
"I don't care. If they're treating you this way, then they don't get to come to our wedding."
"Bill, they're your family!"
"And you are too." he says caressing my cheek. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I want you to be the mother of my children, and in 16 days, you're going to be my wife, so that makes you the most important person in the world to me, okay?"
"Okay." I smile leaning up to kiss him.
As soon as our lips meet there's a knock on the door. We pull away from each other, Bill running a hand over his face before turning to his mother in the doorway. He doesn't say anything, simply looks at her waiting to see what she has to say.
"We're so sorry, Bill. We never meant to treat her like that...we're just...we're sorry. Please come back downstairs. We can start over." His mum offers.
I smile and take Bill's hand, "Please." I whisper trying to relax him.
"Okay." He nods looking at me.
I smile, interlocking our fingers before we head downstairs.
As we reach the table, anxiety fills my chest at what his family might say or if they never like me, but I know that none of that matters because I have Bill.

Some Things Are Better Kept Secret|Charlie Weasley
Pairings: Charlie Weasley x fem!reader, platonic Fred weasley x fem!reader, platonic George x fem!reader, dad!sirius x daughter!reader
A/n: I love this! Tysm anon!
Summary: You’ve always been best friends with the twins but their older brother caught your eye.
Warnings: swearing, mentions of sexual content, kissing, use of pet names, age gap, forbidden curses, mentions of death, blood
Tumblr media
You had been best friends with the Weasley twins since your first year in Hogwarts. You were sorted into Gryffindor and you were inseparable from Fred and George.
Fred and George planned pranksters. You would charm their victims and lead them into the trap. You all tag-teamed.
The first Christmas you spent with the Weasley’s was your second year Christmas break. Your mother was out of town with her friend and you mentioned that you would be staying at Hogwarts but your two best friends couldn’t have it. They owled their parents and Mrs. Weasley insisted you came to their Christmas. Said she heard so much about the girl who the twins loved.
When you rode the train you sat in the compartment with the twins, and Lee Jordan. Four kids in a compartment playing exploding snap all the way to the train station.
When you arrived at the Burrow, you were attacked by Ron and Ginny, the younger ones. They were so excited to meet the girl that Fred and George couldn’t shut up about.
“Fred talks about you all the time. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” You looked up at the older boy. You knew him as the Gryffindor seeker. It was Charlie Weasley; and he was much more handsome closer then the distance from the pitch.
You swallowed quickly before taking his offered hand in the shake, you rose your eyebrows smirking at Fred and George. “You can’t shut up about me. How sweet.”
Fred rolled his eyes, “You’ve been mentioned.”
You giggled, releasing your hand from Charlie’s. Realistically you were still a kid and he was almost a full grown man, but you couldn’t help but swoon.
You thought that childhood crush would go away, but it never did.
You were now about to start your fifth year. You were once again at the Burrow for Ginny’s birthday party. When Ginny invited you, you were so excited to see the Weasley’s before school started in September. You knew that they were going to Egypt, so you would be separated from your best friends.
Ginny was going into her second year at Hogwarts; Ron, Harry, and Hermione were going into their third, and Percy had recent news of becoming Head Boy.
“Happy birthday, Ginny!” You smiled entering her room.
“Y/N! You’re here!” Ginny ran up to you pulling into a huge hug. You and Ginny had become even closer after the encounter with Tom Riddle.
You smiled when Fred peaked from behind you, “Didn’t even say hi to your best friends?”
“I said hi to Ginny?” You tilted your head, a mischievous glint in your eye.
Fred hit you upside the head, you chuckled elbowing him. “Where’s my favorite twin? George! There you are.” You squeezed past Fred hugging George.
“Hi, Y/N! I think everyone’s about here now.” George grinned.
You turned reluctantly giving a hug to Fred; who was pouting from receiving no love from his best friend.
You four went downstairs to find the trio; Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They were speaking with Bill and Charlie. Fred elbowed you and you hit him upside the head.
“Y/n!” Harry sprinted to you embracing you. You took it as your duty to keep Harry Potter under your wing. You were like his older sister. You never told him his godfather was your dad, or mentioned that he was in Azkaban.
“Heya, Harry.” You grinned.
Ron and Hermione waved. Bill hugged you and Charlie smiled with a wave, not without noticing a new scar on his arm.
At Ginny’s birthday party, you were sitting on the porch watching your friends play a game.
“You don’t want to join them?” You glanced up at Charlie Weasley taking a seat next to you on the step.
You shook your head, “It was a long travel.”
“I agree, apparating from Romania to here was a lot.”
“I’m sure it was. How are your dragons?”
You had never had a conversation with one-on-one with Charlie Weasley and your butterflies were erupting in your stomach. You wanted to choke them all out one by one.
Oh, Godric. His smile was so pretty, “They’re good. A new baby girl was hatched right before I left; Hungarian Horntail.”
“So many people are scared of those dragons; I know they’re much larger than other breeds and their fireballs are longer distance, but I think they can be cute creatures. People are scared of something that’s territorial and bigger than they are.”
Charlie Weasley rose his eyebrows. He didn’t know you knew so much about dragons, “Woah you’re like a dragon expert yourself.” He chuckled nudging you with his arm.
Your arm in return erupted in goosebumps over the ghost of his touch. Gotta get yourself together; your best friends brother? Really, Y/N.
Your thoughts scolded you. You ignored them anyway and decided to listen to Charlie instead of your angry thoughts and your drumming butterflies.
“I wouldn’t say that. I like reading about animals or just reading general, but I have taken an interest to dragons.”
“Maybe I could show you the reserve sometime.” Your face lit up.
“Yeah, maybe.”
You didn’t see Charlie again until that next Christmas. You couldn’t wait either. You begged Remus and your mum to let you stay for the holidays again. Of course they agreed.
At Christmas dinner, you were squeezed between Fred and George. You encouraged them to give the Marauders Map to Harry; leaving out his dad was Prongs himself.
Charlie sat across from you and you both talked about quidditch and dragons again. He told you about how the baby dragon from Ginny’s birthday was doing and you were so entranced with him, you didn’t even hear George asking if you wanted to play quidditch outside.
The twins shrugged and left you to talk with their older brother. You two were left alone before you realized you should head to bed.
“Would you mind if I owled you to ask on how Roxie is doing?” Roxie was the name of the new baby dragon.
“No! It’d be a pleasure to receive letters about dragons and not my mother scolding me from being too far from home.” You giggled shaking your head.
“Goodnight, Charlie.”
“Goodnight Y/N.”
You never told Fred and George you sent letters to Charlie through the rest of fifth year. Remus and your mum knew of course, you couldn’t shut up about Charlie to them. That’s how you and Charlie became good friends.
Then at the end of your fifth year, you were reunited with your father and Harry’s godfather. Harry thought he had been a murderer when he was out, but you knew your dad was innocent. Stories from your mother and Remus made you a firm believer that he was framed. Remus and your mum argued a lot about letting Dumbledore know he was an animagus, of course your mum won that fight.
You loved watching your mum and dad reunite. It was the favorite thing you saw that summer.
You attended the quidditch World Cup with the Weasley’s added Hermione and Harry. You shook your head when your best friends decided to bet all your money.
Worried, but you had full faith in them.
Charlie was there and you gave each small looks. You just turned 17 a few weeks ago. He said he was staying around a bit longer for something he needed to do. You had no idea what.
At the World Cup you and Charlie ended up sitting next to each other on the end. Fred and George were on the other end.
“Who do you think is going to win?” Charlie leaned over to talk in your ear.
You shivered your brain thinking of other times Charlie could be whispering in your ear.
“Ireland. It’s got to be.”
“I agree.” Another dazzling smile from Charlie Weasley himself.
After Ireland won, you and Charlie grinned fist bumping each other. Back at the tent, everyone stayed up for awhile. Arthur rushed everyone to bed after Ginny fell asleep on the table. You and Charlie had slipped out the tent sitting next to each other watching the Irish celebrate their victory.
“You know, I thought you were going to be as annoying as George and Fred are. Then I met you and I was totally wrong.”
“Thanks, though I do cause a lot of trouble with them.”
Over the course of the letters, you and Charlie were now close friends. You still had a raging crush on the boy. His light, platonic touches drove you crazy.
The Weasley family knew about Sirius’ innocence but you told Charlie first. Something ate at you about telling your best friends first, but it was Charlie who you ran to.
“That I also noticed,” Charlie chuckled.
You smiled, “Well I should head to bed. Goodnight Charlie.”
“Night, Love.” You froze at the pet name at the entrance of the tent but you let yourself smile brightly heading into the girl tent.
You knew you didn’t sleep for long when Charlie was shaking you awake, calling your name. You were confused as he pulled you out of tent as you struggled to put your nightrobe on.
“Charlie, what’s going on?”
“Death eaters.”
Your eyes widened as you met everyone in the living room. Fred and George were to take care of Ginny and you were to take care of Harry. Ron and Hermione and you two were to stick together.
Before Charlie took off you both shared a look of stay safe.
You took off with the crowd holding onto Harry’s arm trying to run to the gate, but you both fell getting trampled, becoming unconscious.
When you and Harry woke up, the tents were burned and Harry was stirring beside you. You saw a man and your breath was hesitant, but Harry didn’t.
“Black are you okay?” Harry muttered. The worst time to call each other by last names.
The strange man called the dark mark and you took in a sharp breath but after Harry spoke loud enough the man looked at you both. He ran off.
That’s when you heard a bunch of popping and surrounded by Ministry men. “You’ve be discovered at the scene of the crime!” Barty Crouch shouted.
Barty held a wand to your throat. Arthur came to your rescue. “She’s just a girl!”
“So? She’s Sirius Black’s daughter. He probably sent her to do this himself! Where’s your tent, Arthur.”
Arthur opened up the tent and the rest of the group shot up seeing Harry enter.
“Where’s Y/N?” George asked him and his twin worried sick. Thought he didn’t voice it, Charlie was too. Harry looked at his shoes not responding.
“Get in there!” Barty Crouch shoved you onto the couch.
“What’s going on?” Charlie asked; you looked frustrated.
“Y/N Black was discovered at the scene of the crime! She conjured the dark mark.” Barty accused.
“I didn’t! You can’t arrest me because of my relations? What about you? Your son?” You asked tilting your head and Barty gasped.
“How do you know about that?”
“My father.” You spat. “Check my wand. Check Harry’s wand. I. Didn’t. Cast. It.” Barty took both of your wands and checked it. You both didn’t cast the spell.
“Sorry for the inconvenience.” Barty muttered.
After all that, you were lying in bed and couldn’t sleep. So you walked to a room you knew you could find rest in.
Charlie was still awake when you walked in. “Can I sleep with you? I just-“ you swallowed, your voice small. I cant sleep and I’m scared, Charlie.”
Charlie opened his arms and you climbed on into the bed cuddling in his arms, “What you did was pretty badass.” You giggled.
“Well, I didn’t want to go to Azkaban.”
He grinned, his fingers playing with the ends of your hair. You fell asleep much easier with your head on his chest and him playing with your hair.
That night passed, and you were back at Hogwarts with your best friends. After the first years were sorted , the triwizard tournament was announced. Luckily, you turned 17 last June. You stuck your tongue out at the twins because they didn’t reach the age limit.
You decided why not and you entered the tournament.
Charlie Weasley apparently got wind that you one of the four champions. He was so pissed. You two had never even had an argument until now. He told you that you were just a kid and shouldn’t be doing the dangers that was coming for you.
You were furious. He thought of you as a kid? You didn’t write back for the next month. The four champions were as listed: Y/N Black, Harry Potter, Victor Krum, and Fleur Delacour.
The first task is when you saw Charlie again. You didn’t even look at him. You got the Swedish short-snout. Luckily you knew a lot about this dragon, and the Hungarian Horntail so you gave Harry tips when no one was paying attention.
Before it was your turn, Charlie dragged you privately.
“You’re crazy.”
“Thought I was just a kid.” You hugged. Charlie sighed running a hand through his hair.
“I’m sorry. You’re not a kid. You’re too strong. I was just angry when I wrote that. I just worry about you a lot.” He sighed rubbing a hand up and down your arm.
“Promise me you’ll be careful.”
“I do what it takes to win.”
“Y/n one more thing.” You rose your eyebrows, “I want you to know-“ the cannon shouted and they screamed Black. It was your turn.
Without another word, you ran off to fight your dragon.
You tied first with Harry.
Charlie returned to Romania and you didn’t see him until Christmas. You were getting ready for the third task; you and Harry still tied. You joked about winning this thing together and it seemed possible.
At Christmas, you found yourself alone with Charlie after everyone had gone to bed. You both were sipping tea and just talking. “Have you ever tried firewhiskey?”
You shook your head and Charlie left before bringing back a bottle of it. He poured you and himself a glass. You took a sip letting the warm feeling travel down your throat. “Delicious.”
He chuckled, “Are you worried about the third task?”
You shook your head, “I’ve got Harry. I don’t care if I win.”
He smiled, continuing to sip his whiskey. Maybe you two drank too much. But Charlie ended up kissing you and you kissing him back. He mumbled something about tired dancing around stuff.
You were on the couch, his mouth on yours in a kiss of passion and heat. He slipped his tongue in your mouth and you moaned into his. He chuckled pulling back with a wide grin.
You and Charlie began to sneak around after that. The rest of the holidays ended up with kisses on the couch. You never talked about it after you went back to Hogwarts.
It was time for the third task. You and Harry decided to grab the cup together and it was a portkey. You were taken to a graveyard. You were left unconscious next to the trophy and Harry groaned getting up.
He noticed the grave that read tom riddle on it. He needed to get out of here. Before he could grab you and the key. Wormtail casted a spell to keep him bound to the tree.
He dropped Voldemort in a boiling cauldron, cut his arm off, sliced Harry’s for blood. Voldemort was back.
You were still unconscious when Voldemort talked to Harry.
Voldemort touched Harry’s scar before he noticed you. He kicked you and you let out a groan, stirring. Harry prayed that Voldemort would leave you alone.
“She’s important to you. I can tell.” The noseless man said to the scar boy. “Crucio!” Right as you began to stand you were back on the ground writing in pain, screaming in agony. It felt like needles were being plunged into your skin. Then he released the spell, you could breathe again.
Wrong. “Crucio!” He screamed again and that was the torture. Thinking that it was over but it wasn’t.
You couldn’t stand the pain and you were losing consciousness. Then it all stopped. Were you dead? No. You could hear Harry. Harry was fighting him. Next thing you knew you were back at the stadium, crying to be let go of. You didn’t know who was touching you.
There was cheering but it suddenly stopped when Harry was crying over your body. Your mum and Remus leaped out of the stands running towards you followed by the Weasley kids who were attending Hogwarts.
“Y/N?” George or Fred whispered, you couldn’t tell.
You blinked your eyes open tears spilling, “Harry.” You rasped holding onto his arm. He was sobbing. “It hurts.”
“I know it does, Sis. You got to stay with me your the closest family I have! Y/N!” Charlie was now at your side stroking your hair.
“Are you crying, Charles?” You whispered. “I told I’d win.” You tried to grin but it was more of a grimace.
“I told you to be safe too.” Charlie muttered.
Dumbledore finally arrived with mad-eye moody. “Harry what happened?”
“Voldemort!” He cried, “he’s.. he’s back. He could tell we were close somehow and just started Crucio after Crucio. She went through so many! I thought.. I thought she was dead.” The poor boy was heartbroken at the fact he could’ve lost his sister tonight. Charlie scooped you up and carried you to the hospital wing.
After a couple days of rest, you woke up feeling less painful and Charlie was sitting there. “How are you feeling?”
“Better, since you’re here.” He rolled his eyes with a smile.
“You scared me. I thought you were going to die without me telling you something because I was too afraid too.”
“What’s that?”
“What if you died before I told you I was in love with you?” He whispered grasping your hand.
“Well if I was dead I wouldn’t be able to tell you I’m in love with you too.” He grinned kissing your lips, lightly. He was scared of hurting you.
That summer you, mum, and Remus moved to the Grimmauld Place.
“Dad!”
“Buttercup!” You ran into your fathers embrace with a giddy smile. You hadn’t seen him in a good while. He visited you when you were sick but now you got to live with him.
You had just turned 18. You were secretly dating Charlie Weasley and you got to move in with your dad. Best year ever!
The Weasley’s also moved in and you, Fred, and George worked on their products. You and Harry gave your winnings to the twins so they could do their joke shop.
Charlie was there for the summer too. You were of age so you got to join the Order. During those meetings you sat beside Charlie. He had his hand on your thigh and you played his fingers in his lap.
It was subtle, no one could tell. Except Sirius, he loved to tease you about him.
Late nights was included Charlie in your room full of cuddles, kisses and your favorites. You always made sure to lock the door so no one saw you and Charlie and entangled limbs.
Your secret was falling apart. Or you two just didn’t care. You brought up to the twins what if you and Charlie went places and they said they didn’t mind. Though one morning you did forget to lock the door.
“Y/N!” You shot awake off Charlie’s chest. George was holding an order form. “Charlie?”
Eyes wide you turned to Charlie who was smirking and starting to lean against the headboard. He brought you on his lap. “Meet my girlfriend.”
“No. Fucking. Way.”

During the next couple of days there was a strange feeling of excitement in the air. For the first time in a while, you felt like there was something to hope for, like you had a goal. The sudden burst of adrenaline in your veins had you wandering around this old house of yours all day and all night. It was driving Dean crazy, but you didn’t care. He showed you how to replay old PotterWatch recordings, so you had them playing in the background through the day while searching through your grandma’s old books in hopes of finding something helpful.
Dean was being as supportive as he could’ve been, considering he was also aching to get in touch with his parents and sisters, however, he was reluctant to get his hopes up. You didn’t have the same problem. It wasn’t a choice for you.
“I’d tell her that her family is alive and well and desperate for news of her whereabouts. As are quite frankly, all of us here at the PotterWatch”.
When you weren’t replaying the recording, you were replaying those words in your head.
You had to find a way.
There was another resident in the house who didn’t seem to be too keen on contacting the wizarding world. A goblin named Ricbert. He was badly injured and spent most of the time resting. You couldn’t blame him for not wanting to risk exposure, not after Dean has told you everything they had to go through to get to a safe house. They were travelling with Ted Tonks, Dirk Cresswell and another goblin named Gornuk. They crossed miles and miles being actively hunted by the Snatchers and Death Eaters. Gornuk has split himself while apparating in a hurry and got captured. Dirk went after him while urging the others to run away, but Ted Tonks would not leave anyone behind. Unfortunately, that resulted in Dean and Ricbert having to fend for themselves.
Listening to that story made you shiver. But if anything, it made you even more determined to stop running and hiding. It wasn’t even just about seeing your family and friends again. It wasn’t just about Fred either. People were fighting for their lives! You couldn’t stay put! You had to do something!
When you weren’t practicing defensive spells, you spent your time obsessively collecting herbs and brewing healing remedies for Ricbert. It made you feel a bit better, being useful to someone. You were trying out all kinds of recipes you thought might come in handy.
You made a batch of Polyjuice Potion, Cure for boils, Antidote to Common Poisons, Antidote to Uncommon Poisons. You even tried to make Felix Felicis, but the ingredients for it were way too hard to find even in regular circumstances.
You were brewing so much that Dean eventually had to take you by the hand and force you to sit down and take a break.
“If Snape could see me now!”, you said with a tired smile.
Dean chuckled.
“He’d probably put you in detention for working too hard”.
“Ah, yes! Did you know he actually did do that to me once?”
“What, really?”
“Yeah… I wrote an essay in my third year that was accidentally a little too good. He accused me of using a magical quill and put me in detention”, you rolled your eyes.
“Blimey, what a git!”
“Well, I’ll tell you what, I’ve never tried to work too hard on my homework again!”, you laughed.
It was nice talking to Dean, the two of you became fast friends during your stay in the house. You gave each other space through the day, but in the evenings, you would sit down and enjoy each other’s company. Just like you were back in the Gryffindor common room, chatting about muggle films and sports. You found your grandparents’ stash of Firewhiskey and Nettlewine, so you’d light the fireplace and open a bottle. Ricbert also joined you on occasion.
You tried not to talk too much about PotterWatch, even though that was all you wanted to talk about, and tried avoiding mentioning Fred and George’s name completely. At least until you’ve figured out the way to find them. On the first night, you and Dean went through all the options of how to get in touch with someone from your world. Floo powder was out of question. So was sending and owl, obviously. Most importantly, even if you did find a way to send anyone a message, you wouldn’t know where to send it. Apparating to any location was an unnecessary risk, especially now that you seemed to be perfectly safe and sound for the first time in months. Not to mention the fact that you didn’t want to put Ricbert in danger just because, as he so delicately put one evening,
“You heard your boyfriend mention your name on a radio two weeks ago”.
The word “boyfriend” stupidly made your heart flutter. It wasn’t, strictly speaking, true, but you didn’t correct him. Dean didn’t question it either at the time. However, that evening, after a few glasses of Nettlewine, his curiosity got the best of him.
“So…”, he started, “You and Weasley, eh?”
“Huh?”
“You and Fred Weasley? You’re like… an item, right?”
“What makes you say that?”, you feigned surprise.
He raised his eyebrows and smirked at you.
“Oh, please!”
“No! We are just friends”, you tried to protest, but a small smile escaped your lips and betrayed you.
“Sure you are!”, Dean chuckled, “I also fall asleep every night while listening to recordings of my friend’s voices on the radio”.
“Well maybe you should, it’s very calming”, you teased.
“Besides”, you continued, “How do you know it’s not Georgie I’m listening for?”
“Oh”, he laughed, “You’re right, my apologies”.
“Why do you think they call him Tentacula?”.
He snorted and threw a pillow at you.
“Don’t put images in my head!”
“Well, you’re the one who started this conversation!”, you threw the pillow back at him.
He groaned.
“I was just being nosy, I didn’t want the details!”
“Curiosity killed the hippogriff!”
“Also…”, Dean continued, “Ginny mentioned something to me back when we were dating…”
Your heart jumped in your chest.
“About what?”, you asked as calmly as possible.
“You know… about you and Weasley… Fred, I mean”.
“What did she say?”
Dean looked at you sternly as if what he was about to say is very serious indeed, but then his face stretched into a wide grin, and he burst out laughing.
“Nothing! I just wanted to see your reaction!”
You groaned.
“Oi, Thomas, that was really low!”
“Sorry, better work on your poker face Y/LN!”, he teased you.
You rolled your eyes.
“Well, it’s not like it matters anyway. I mean… who knows if I’ll ever see him again”, your voice suddenly turned sad.
Dean’s expression softened.
“You’ll see him”, he said.
You looked at him with teary eyes and gently smiled with gratitude.
“You think so?”, you asked quietly, before you could stop yourself.
“Yes”, he replied, “We’ll find a way. But then you have to do it”.
“Do what?”
“Shoot your shot”, he said and threw a pillow at you again.
...
You’ve spent the next couple of days trying to figure out how to bring up your newest plan of sending a message to Fred and George. It seemed like a good plan; the only problem was the fact that you had no idea how to execute it.
“Dean…”, you started one afternoon.
“Yes?”, he asked.
“I’ve figured it out”, you said slowly.
“You have?”, he jumped in excitement.
“Yes… sort of”.
“What does that mean?”
“Well…”, you started, “There might be a way to send someone a message without having to know exactly where they are, I think… but it requires a really powerful witch or wizard to do so”.
“I’m not worried about that part!”, he winked at you.
You laughed bitterly.
“I don’t know, mate. I’ve never been able to do it before… that’s why I didn’t bring it up until now”.
“What is it?”, his voice suddenly got a bit more serious.
You took a deep breath.
“The thing is… you can send someone a message using the Patronus charm”.
“You can?”, he asked in a surprise.
“Yes”, you replied, “I’ve seen it”.
The image of a silver, gleaming lynx with a voice of Kingsley Shacklebolt suddenly entered your mind.
“Well, that’s… good news, right?”, Dean asked.
You sighed.
“Yes… and no”.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean… I’ve never been able to produce a corporal Patronus before… and even if I did it, I have no idea how to get it to send someone a message!”, you said, with slight frustration in your voice.
“Oh…”, Dean said.
“Can you produce it?”
He shook his head.
“No… never been able to”.
“Well… that’s why I didn’t say anything until now… but it seems like it might be the only option we have left”.
He looked at you in disbelief.
“What kind of option is that? We’d have to become able to produce a corporal Patronus, and then we’d also have to somehow figure out a way to make it reach someone else for us… it would take us weeks, months, maybe even years!”
“You have somewhere to be?”, you asked sarcastically.
He sighed.
“No…”
“Well, then… unless you can come up with a better plan, I suggest you roll up your sleeves and start practicing the charm!”, you said in a tone of voice that reminded you a bit of Professor McGonagall.
A similar thought has clearly crossed Dean’s mind, because he smirked at you and said,
“Yes, professor!”
You softened your expression and smiled at him.
The following couple of days were spent by your useless attempts to preform the Patronus charm. When you weren’t whispering, mumbling, or screaming:
“Expecto Patronum!”
you were cooped up in your room, reading your grandmas old books, trying to find anything at all about the Patronus charm. It was hopeless.
To be fair, you managed to produce a glowing, silver shield that danced around the room, but there was no sign of fur, tail, claws, hooves, or anything like that. It was driving you mad, which, obviously, wasn’t helpful while trying to focus on your happiest memories.
One evening, as you were lying in your bed and rewinding old recordings of PotterWatch, a shocking realisation suddenly hit you.
Of course you would not be able to create a Patronus, you didn’t have a memory that was strong enough! All your happiest thoughts were somehow tainted by the fact that you were here, locked inside a safe house, completely isolated from the people that you loved the most. But if you could do it… If you could be strong enough to perform the spell…
You didn’t have a happiest memory because all of them were set in the future! And you held the power to make them into reality!
It was a paradoxical thought, but the realisation made your heart fill up with hope, and perhaps, that could be enough to summon a Patronus!
You jumped out of the bed, in a sudden rush of adrenaline, and raised your wand.
You closed your eyes.
What would make you happy? What is the happiest thing you can think of at this very moment?
An image of your parents glimmered in your mind. They were smiling at you while embracing you into a tight hug.
Then another image appeared. Your friends! George Weasley gifting you one of his infectious smiles and congratulating you on a spell well-done! Lee Jordan, shaking your hand and kissing your cheeks.
A small grin appeared on your lips.
It was working!
Then, you saw his face. Fred.
His flaming red locks and glistening eyes. He reached his hands towards you and pulled you in his arms. You knew his scent all too well. He smelled of cinnamon and fireworks. He didn’t say anything to you, and you didn’t say anything to him. You just stood there, embracing. No words were needed.
You felt your heart swell up as happy tears started to fill your eyes. You took a deep breath.
You were almost there!
You raised your wand higher and pictured yourself as exactly the person you wanted to be in this very moment. You were strong enough to summon a Patronus. You were clever enough to reach your friends. You were brave enough to protect Ricbert and Dean. You could do it! You just had to believe in it!
“Excpecto Patronum”, you whispered.
A beam of silver light shot out of your wand. It seemed to be forming into a shape.
Was that a claw? Or maybe antlers?
The beautiful silver light blazing from your wand gave you more confidence, so you repeated, this time more loudly and more clearly,
“Excpecto Patronum!”
This time the light started to form into a shape a lot more distinctively. You watched in an awe as you tried to figure out what animal in reminded you of, still focusing hard on your happy thoughts.
The silver light fell apart once again, but you didn’t get discouraged. You were certain this time you’d do it. You took a deep breath and pictured Fred’s smiling face. His eyes. His voice. His laughter… You’ll see him again! You will! You were so close…
“EXPECTO PATRONUM!”, you yelled out.
The light shooting out of your wand was almost blinding this time. You squinted as you watched it prance around the room, forming into a shape of a beautiful, silvery creature. After it made a circle around the room it stopped right in front of you, looking at you with its intelligent, glowing eyes. You gasped in awe and reached for it to touch it. You recognized it instantly.
It was a (your Patronus).
You did it!
The realisation made a surge of euphoric sensation shoot through your body.
You fucking did it!
You started laughing. You wanted to call for Dean, but you were worried the animal would disappear if you did that. So, instead, you just stood there, trying to get your brain to start working again. As soon as it did, another thought has crossed your mind.
What now?
That’s right! Summoning a Patronus was only a part of the problem. As happy as you were to have succeeded, you still didn’t know how to fulfil the other part.
What if I just… ask?
it was a silly thought. And yet…
It couldn’t hurt!
You struggled for a moment to find your voice. Your Patronus was still looking at you. It seemed like it already knew what you were about to do.
“Can you… help me?”, you heard yourself say stupidly.
The Patronus blinked.
“I need to send a message… to Fred Weasley. He’s… my best friend. Perhaps you already know that…?”
The animal didn’t move or react in any way that would make it seem like it understood you. You groaned in frustration.
“Well, it was worth a shot”, you mumbled.
The frustration in your voice made the Patronus start to slowly fade out. It made you panic for a moment, but then you let it go.
If you could summon it once, you can do it again!
However, the Patronus didn’t disappear, you realized a second later. Instead, it turned itself into a tiny, floating ball of light that began slowly approaching you. Just when you thought it was about to stop, it went straight inside your neck and nested itself at the bottom of your throat.
“What the…”, you spoke in a surprise.
And then you froze in shock. You could hear your own voice, just like it was magically enhanced by Sonorous. However, you had a strange feeling that if anyone else was around you, they would only see you open your mouth and silently move it like a fish.
“Did I… do it?”, you asked.
You were still hearing your own voice inside your head. That must be it! It must be working!
“Fred…”, you started, “If you can hear me… if this reaches you somehow… I’m safe. I’m in a safe location. I can’t tell you exactly where it is, it’s heavily protected…”.
You thought for a moment about what you should and shouldn’t say. You didn’t want to compromise anyone’s safety if this message was heard by someone else.
“If you can reach my parents, would you tell them I’m okay?”, you asked.
There were so many things that you dreamt about saying to him if you got the chance, and now… it felt like there was nothing on your mind.
“Oh, I’m with Dean Thomas!”, you remembered suddenly, “He’s safe too… we’re with a goblin named Ricbert… Fred…”.
You took a deep breath.
“If you can… try to find me… please”.
Just when you started thinking about how silly that sounded, the ball of light nested in your throat flew out. It reached the middle of the room and slowly transformed back into its corporal form. The beautiful, shimmering animal stood before you once again, only this time there was a little ball of light flickering in its neck. You realised, in amazement, that that was your voice.
“Find Fred Weasley… please”, you said pleadingly.
The Patronus blinked at you once again, like it perfectly understood the assignment you just gave it, and slowly began to fade out.
For a second or two you did not move. You were still a bit unsure that what you just saw really happened. You wanted to call Dean and tell him all about it, but before you could do that, you felt yourself slowly sinking into bed. You were exhausted.
You didn’t know for sure how long you slept. Was it five hours or five minutes. You only knew that in one moment your eyes were shut and you were sleeping, and in another something in the room has made you groan out in frustration.
Did somebody turn on the light?
“Turn… it… off…”, you mumbled as you tried to cover your closed eyes with a pillow.
But it felt like the light was burning through the pillowcase. You threw the pillow away and sat up straight, like someone had just pinched you.
Your eyes widened in shock. Something was in the room with you. Through the haze of sleepiness, it looked like another glowing ball of light, only this ball was a lot larger than the one you had summoned. It made a few circles around the room before it finally settled and landed at the top of the pillow you just threw away. It was a bird. A magpie. A glowing, silvery magpie! It was spreading its shimmering wings and looking at you like it wanted your undivided attention.
Another Patronus, you realised.
Your mouth had gone dry from suspense. Then, the bird opened its silver beak and spoke in the voice of Fred Weasley,
“Y/N? Is that really you?”
Your heart stopped.

Can’t Stay Away (1)
Out of all of the wizarding kids Harry’s best friends could’ve been, why did it need to be a Weasley?
George Weasley x Reader

Warnings: Some swearing, enemies to lovers. Some back and forth between characters! No use of Y/N
Tumblr media
Out of all of the wizarding kids' Harry’s best friends could’ve been, why did it need to be a Weasley?
Don’t get me wrong, the Weasley’s are a lovely family. Molly treats me with warmth as she would another daughter. Arthur would send me owl after owl questioning me on muggle happenings. Whenever I could see Charlie and Bill it was always pleasant. Percy would be tolerable at best. Fred constantly dropped flowers off in my dorm room yet always denied it. Ron confided in me and trusted me with anything regarding Harry. Ginny was almost like a little sister to me, I’d braid her hair and she showed me how to sew.
George?
Where do I begin?
Since we began our first year, he found a way to get under my skin. Literally. Once a spell he meant to cast on Filch backfired and lead me to the uncomfortable feeling of movement under my skin for 3 weeks. A time after that, he’d stained my silk scarf gifted to me by Harry when we were small. If you add on the act that he’s loud, disruptive, unruly, and barbaric; he’s a total unlikeable package!
The worst of it? The time he broke my pearl necklace during a failed escape from Snape after a prank. He’d collided with me right by the corridor closest to the Great Hall. Our chests collided violently and he pushed himself away. Unfortunately taking my necklace with him. The same necklace that my Mom had gifted to me when I was around 3. The last thing I had to remind me of her. The closest thing I had to her.
Fred had begged and pleaded with me to forgive George. Damage was done.
And since, I haven’t had a pleasant experience with him. Yet I find myself at the Weasley’s crumbling house every summer. It’s become a routine since we left the Dursleys. I’d room with Ginny, while Harry would stay with Ron. It worked out perfectly. Ginny and I would find ourselves sitting in the glowing sun helping Molly with the gardening. I found it quite peaceful. Us three stuck together a lot considering the amount of testosterone that lived in the Burrow. We’d sit in the same corner of the wobbly, patchy wood dinner table that sat in the middle of the cramped dining room. We’d share tea and Molly would educate us on the proper ways to crochet or knit.
Harry was surrounded by the lively Weasley boys. I never see them repeating a single task during the day, always onto something new. They’ll have practice quidditch matches during midday. Harry and Ron always manage to be on the same team, much like Fred and George. They’d move onto roughhousing near the garden patch, leading to a solid scolding done by Molly. I’d never missed the few occasions the boys would disappear for hours, only to return muddy and worn.
Today was no different.
“Oi, boys! What have I said about you lot wrestling in the mud! I absolutely refuse to clean this laundry. Fred and George. First to the showers! You’re helping us with dinner this evening!” Molly shouted at the returning group from just behind a small berry bush sitting outside the kitchen window.
Fred scoffed, throwing his pale arms into the air. “Mum! We were having fun, Harry learned some new moves!”
Nevertheless, the twins disappeared inside.
“I don’t know what I’ll do with those two boys. Always dabbling into trouble.” Molly turned to me, pushing a small ginger back curl with her forearm.
The sun was just beginning to set, creating a soft pink and orange hue in the sky. Whenever sunsets like this happened, they made me smile. Orange was a happy color. It reminded me of the Weasley family no matter the hassle they added to your lives. The Weasleys were my found family. Whenever a tough day happened and a sunset like this followed, I couldn’t help but picture the zany family bouncing in the sky.
I barely realized I was spacing out before a tall figure appeared to the right of me.
George.
I looked over to my left, where he stood next to me. He was wearing a periwinkle tee that wasn’t shy highlighting the slight muscle tone in his arms. George’s fiery hair was messy and wet. Some pieces clung to his forehead, while others stuck up like bedhead. Small freckles dusted his nose, adding a pop of color to his otherwise pale face.
“What’s got your focus?” He spoke softly. The kitchen was bustling with life, a few Weasleys and Harry running to help with supper. I was assigned to snap the ends of the fresh green beans we had grown. George picked up a few from the pile in front of me and began assisting.
“Nothing too important.”
“Seems it.” He pushed.
I tilt my head slightly in his direction. His tall frame is balanced on the aged kitchen counted by his hip. George’s legs were crossed, his patched white ankle socks slightly revealing themselves from underneath his discolored red pajamas.
“What’s it to you, Weasley?”
The sharp corners of his mouth perk into a smirk. “I can’t help but notice I’m the only one you call Weasley. I live in a house full of Weasleys. Yet Ron is Ron. Percy is Percy. Bill is Bill. But I’m Weasley.” I finally turn my head fully in his direction. His smirk is still prevalent on his face. I wanted to smack it off of him.
“Congratulations.” I sassed.
George snapped an end of a green bean off, tossing it in his mouth. “Someone is awfully snippy today,” He whispered. “Harry get some mud on your scarf?” The smirk he had been wearing never left his face. It sat, proud. What an asshole.
Thankfully, Molly had swiped me away to set the dinner table. The table, obviously repaired to expand its area, was rough and bumpy. There were a few times I’d assisted Harry and Ron with splinters they gained from the old piece of furniture. It was wobbly. What some would consider run down, I’d call it well loved. The original table dawned a dark oak color. The staining darkened the color and once made the woodwork shine. The first addition to the table was some leftover wood from Molly’s garden boxed. It was a birch slab nailed onto the original table. When a table cloth covered the table, a large dip was noticeable due to the level difference. The legs were also constructed with scrap pieces, causing one leg to be longer than the other. Yet, it still held the original charm the initial table was blessed with.
Molly had handed me an emerald green table cloth to cover the rugged surface. The various sets of worn china decorated the tabletop. Small ivory plates decorated with cornflowers were scattered on the table. While Arthur and Molly’s seats had the older, cream and rose plates they loved. Molly’s mother had gifted the couple with this set of dinnerware after their wedding. It definitely didn’t go unappreciated.
As the family settled down for dinner, conversations varied from Harry’s dream last night to Ron’s rat eating a hole through Percy’s special prefect robes.
“That damn rat needs some bloody training. He’s the worst behaved Weasley! And that’s counting Ron! Do you have any idea how much those robes cost?” Percy whined, gripping his chipped metal fork. His thin eyebrows furrowed, causing a horrible wrinkle on his forehead.
Ron shoved a slab of chicken breast into his mouth. “The school gave them to you.” He spoke with his mouth full. Thin pieces of chicken slipped out of his mouth while speaking.
Percy glared at Ron.
“They’re priceless.”
I giggled at Ron’s antics, him joining me. Percy began ranting about how his position of power made Ron jealous and that’s why he sent Scabbers to go chew a hole in the hood of the robe. While rambling, he flailed his frail arms into the air; nearly smacking Fred in the process. Fred dodged the hit dramatically while scoffing.
“Oi, can you watch where you’re swinging those muscles? I get you’ve been doing 5 push-ups every night but spare us from your fury,” The older twin snickered. The dim yellow lights of the Burrow cast a shadow down his face. His brow bones shadowed his chocolate eyes. From this angle, he could’ve been mistaken for one of those cheap muggle Halloween statues.
Percy didn’t take this comment lightly. He shut up quickly and began rapidly eating his food. Occasionally, he’d mumble something under his breath and glare at Ron.
“Dear brother I think you hurt poor Percy’s feelings!” George gasped. He raised his hands to his cheeks and feigned a shocked expression. Slight chuckles could be heard from Ginny beside me. “I demand at once that you apologize to my esteemed relative. If you don’t, I fear your food may be coming out from the other end!” George’s fake expression was replaced by a boyish grin. If you looked closely, you just see the tiniest dimple on both corners of his mouth.
“Thank you, Geor-” Percy began.
“My brother cannot help the brute strength that he gets from being part cyclops! It already ruins his self-esteem enough that he looks like one. Do not begin to make him fear using his true strength around those he’s supposed to feel safe around.” The entire table of Weasley’s erupted in laughter, excluding Molly. Ginny’s face could match her hair color. I could’ve sworn I saw tears falling from the corners of Fred’s eyes. I laughed too, I can’t lie about that. I’ve always found Percy to be tightly wound and in need of a serious laugh every once in a while.
As I wiped the falling tears from my face, I glanced across the table. George was staring right at me. We made brief eye contact before I broke it, bringing my eyes to the meal in front of me.
Shit. I laughed at George Weasley’s joke. I broke my front.
Dinner otherwise was rather peaceful. Of course, Molly scolded both twins for picking on their older brother. Arthur included himself in the punishment too. I’m assuming it was to cover up the fact that he slammed the table laughing in reaction to the conversation. Molly definitely saw it though. She was just letting him off easy. Percy left the table the second he finished his plate. As he stomped up the stairs, Ginny heard him grumbling about how Fred and George would soon get a reality check. Soon after that, a nearby door slam shook the Burrow.
As the evening continued, members of the Weasley family dropped like flies. Ginny was the first to go to bed. Eventually, Fred and Harry followed. Molly and Arthur disappeared without a word. Ron sat with me by the fireplace for a while.
The familiar warmth of the Weasley fireplace was always comforting to me. I spent hours tutoring Ron and Harry on charms homework during cold winter nights by the fireplace. I experienced my first heartbreak here. 2nd year, after Clarence Hillbox broke up with me the day before the summer break. Molly sat with me all day, comforting me and telling me about Arthur’s first fight.
“He had shattered my father’s vase! He was meeting my family. He tried teaching my younger brother the wonders of muggle ‘baseball’. Somehow in the mix, a ball flew in the opposite direction straight through the den window! Completely shattered the family heirloom that had been in the family for over 800 years!”
I sniffled. “Did he make it up to you? Or your Dad?”
Molly’s familiar smile appeared on her round face. “Well, he tried. He took me to a muggle pottery barn to paint a new one. He paid for the costs, and let me do anything my heart desired. He was the one to pick it up from the barn and brought it to my Dad. Obviously, he was still hurt but he appreciated it.”
Ron and I sat in silence for a while, staring at the yellow and orange flames that danced on the charred logs. Then I felt the couch dip to my right.
“Hope I’m not interrupting something.” The loudest, and younger of the twins broke the silence.
Silently, Ron stood up and left the room. Not a ‘goodbye’ or a ‘goodnight’ left his mouth. His soft footsteps could be heard above my head, walking quickly to his room. Great. Now Weasley and I are left alone.
I clear my throat, “Not exactly. My scowl must’ve been present on my face, as his face dropped slightly once he looked at me. “I was just hanging out with your brother. Obviously, he had other plans. So now I’m left alone.” My hands were fidgeting with the hems of my sleep shorts. There were a few frayed strings that stuck out from the sides.
“But I’m here.”
“Take the hint, Weasley.” I groaned, pulling the sides of my shorts out in frustration. He chuckled softly, turning his head to look at the fire. However, his arm had other plans. It snaked its way behind the back of the plush couch. His pink knuckles sitting inches from my cheekbone. I turned my head slightly, to see exactly how he was sitting. As he obviously wasn’t getting up. His broad-shouldered form sat comfortably on the seat. His left ankle was balanced on his right though, legs forming a perfect 4. Due to his arms being raised, his shirt lifted a little. A small blue boxer line peeked out from under his pajama bottoms.
“I can’t stand you.” He said.
I frown. “Yet you can’t seem to leave me alone.
“Touche.”
And for the first time ever, I didn’t want to smack George Weasley across the face.

FRED WEASLEY X READER
"I am more interested in experiencing life than in analyzing it" - will bradley
warnings: none
notes: lol not me writing about how you don't have to follow a set path and I'm willingly and gladly pre-med
Tumblr media
"Stop it, Fred Weasley." A laugh escaped your lips and ruined your annoyed facade as the redhead continued to poke your sides. "Quit it! Some of us are attempting to study for our N.E.W.Ts."
Fred flopped back in his chair, a cheeky look smudged his face, and his eyes rolled to the back of his head. "You and every other nerd in this castle. My mum hasn't let up on Georgie and me about studying for these boring tests. What is knowing mooncalf M.O.M classification going to do for my future?"
"XX," you beamed, putting down your quills and scrolls. "Don't take these tests too seriously; they are meant to see how you handle intense, lengthy material. Just like the O.W.Ls but with boomslang. Get it? Because it's a slow-acting poison, and the exams are slowly killing my brain cells."
"No, I didn't because you don't need boomslang to make the potions I care about. I want to make people forget about bad times- not induce blistering in their throats until they chock on their blister pus."
"Boomslang doesn't do that," you teased, sitting next to Fred and placing your arms around his shoulders. "Nonetheless, I see your point and agree that these exams will do nothing for your future."
Fred shrugged his shoulders, your arms dropping softly. "Do you, though? You, my mum, my family, and all the professors push school onto me. I'm not brilliant like Percy- Merlin, save his soul from the ministry- nor do I have some niche brilliance like Bill and Charlie. I'm a joke. My future is making sure people laugh at my antics and not me."
You watched Fred and the way his lips pressed together as his eyebrows knit together. He was always soft laughing lines; you forgot how much he'd grown up since the two of you met. You forgot how much of his softness had been sharpened by external pressure and expectations.
"Do you know what I see when I look at you, Fred Weasley?"
"Someone who is going to fail all of their N.E.W.Ts?" Fred questioned back, avoiding looking at you.
"Yes," you laughed, nudging the boy lightly with your shoulder. "I also see the boy who runs to crying, homesick first-years and shows them Whiz-Bangs. Or, the boy who acts "scary" to anyone who likes his sister but would walk through fire to make her laugh when she's heartbroken. Even better, I catch a glimpse of the thirteen-year-old boy who grabbed my hand and ran me down the hall so I wouldn't get blamed for a prank on Filch."
"Actually, it was George. I just never had the heart to tell you that you got us mixed up," Fred laughed, his cheeks warmed with embarrassment.
"Nope. You don't need to put yourself down and throw a pity party, Mr. Weasley." You threw your arm back over his shoulders, bringing him in for a side-hug. "If you could see yourself through my point of view, your ego would explode."
"Please, I always have room for flattery."
"I'm sure you do."
"In all seriousness, thank you," Fred whispered, leaning his head on you. "I-I don't know what came over me? I have all this confidence in George and I's plan. We aren't the type of brilliant our mum wants us to be, but we have this dream and all these ideas. I just-my family means everything and my mum has the best intentions. If everyone pushes something at you- maybe it is for the best?"
"Or, maybe some people aren't supposed to follow the pathway? Don't get me wrong, I will be a ministry drone for years until I get a position in the International Confederation of Wizards. However, I want that for myself. Either way, it's not wrong only if you want it for yourself and not someone else."
"I wish my parents could hear you right now," Fred chuckled, his shoulders dropping. "I want them to be happy with me being happy."
"They wanted nothing more than for you to be happy. It just takes parents a while to realize what will make their kids happy."
"You're too smart to be a ministry drone, you know," Fred smirked, wrapping his arm around your waist and giving you a squeeze. "Too attractive too."

North Star Series
Chapter 49 - Two April Fools
Start here:
Summary: The twins celebrate their birthday.
Warnings: a couple mentions of sex
~•~
Two cakes for two brothers. Orange and chocolate for Fred and strawberry for George. Y/N insisted on baking George's herself, causing a minor fuss with Molly, who considered it her motherly duty to bake all her children's birthday cakes.
In the end, they compromised by using fresh strawberries from Molly's garden, which Y/N planned on using in the first place and baking it at the Burrow under Molly's close supervision.
"You know, you could've just made me one at home and not told mum. Then I'd have two cakes," George whispered to her as they relaxed on the sofa after cake and presents.
"Oh," Y/N's eyes went wide for a moment. "I didn't think of that." Then she shrugged. "Well, it's the first time I've been able to properly help you celebrate. If you remember correctly, our first year together, you were down with the flu. And, the second year, I was in the States. It was important to me to do this for you."
George's eyes softened at that, and he pulled her closer.
"And besides," Y/N continued, settling into his warmth. "Molly's gonna have to pass the torch at some point."
"Hey, it's your head on the chopping block, not mine," her husband shrugged and chuckled.
"Oh gee, thanks, dear. Your support is overwhelming," she said with mock sarcasm and playfully elbowed him in the ribs.
"Hey now, no need to get violent!" George joked, tickling her and making her squeal much louder than either of them expected.
"What's going on in there?" Molly's voice bellowed from the kitchen.
"Y/N's giving George a special birthday gift," Ginny hollered back, a wicked grin spreading across her face.
"WHAT?" Molly thundered around the corner.
Arthur, who'd dozed off in his chair, snapped awake, looking around in confusion.
George and Y/N froze and stared at Ginny before pulling her into their melee.
Fred burst out laughing. "Bravo, Ginny, bravo!" He exclaimed with pride.
Hermione's face turned a bright red, and pointedly turned away to hide her embarrased giggle.
And, Ron nearly choked on his second slice of cake, prompting Harry to slap him hard on the back several times.
~•~
"Ah damn, wish I could've been there. Sounds like our little sister isn't so little anymore," Bill laughed, taking a swig of whiskey. "Shame Fleur couldn't make it either. I'm sure she would've gotten a good laugh out of it, too."
Ginny beamed and Y/N smiled at her sister-in-law's happy expression. She was glad that Ginny had finally accepted Fleur into the family. It'd irked Y/N that both Ginny and Molly had spent the past couple of months treating Fleur like a pariah. Y/N knew exactly what that was like, having once been on the receiving end of Molly's discontent, but at least she'd had Ginny on her side.
Poor Fleur didn't even have that. Y/N did her best to make the french girl feel welcome when Bill brought her around, but it had been hard with both of the Weasley women punching down on her.
"...well, we're happy you got to come to the after-party," her husband spoke, pulling Y/N from her thoughts.
"Me too," Bill raised his glass. "And it's a lovely evening for it."
After the official birthday party, all the siblings headed over to George and Fred's apartment, where they all relaxed on the rooftop, enjoying the warm night with bottles of firewhiskey and butterbeer.
"I love this seating area you put up here," Hermione said, sinking into the pillowy sofa. "So comfy and cozy. You must spend a lot of time up here."
"Used to," George said. "Not so much anymore, what with the cold winter winds and now Deatheaters flying about all over the damn place."
"But this is a special occasion," Fred said cheerfully. "And we put some extra wards up earlier to make it safer, including one that will render us invisible temporarily," he added, hoping to ease the sudden worried expression on Harry's face.
"For how long?" Harry asked.
"Couple hours," George answered. "Don't worry, mate, we're keeping an eye on the clock."
"Yeah, Harry," Ron patted his best friend on the shoulder. "Fred and George won't let anything happen to you. Hell, they won't even prank you - "
"Oh! That reminds me!" Fred interrupted, jumping up. "It's almost time for the grand finale."
"Grand finale?" A confused look passed across Y/N's face, eyes darting from one twin to the other.
"We were up to more than just warding the place while you baking with mum this morning," George winked.
Y/N's expression shifted from confusion to apprehension. "What did you do?" She asked slowly.
"Oh, nothing much," Fred shrugged. "It's just that we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't prank Filch this year. So we decided to do the next best thing. Prank a few Deatheaters!"
"WHAT?" Ginny stared at Fred.
"Hey, you sound just like mum did earlier today!" Fred teased.
Ginny stood and pointed her finger at her brother. "Don't try to change the subject!" She said, stepping toward him.
Y/N continued to glare from her husband to her brother-in-law. "Spill it, you two."
George moved to stand beside Fred, both of them grinning like fools. "Well, you see, Freddie got this last minute idea," he began. "So, we gathered up all the muggle fireworks we had in stock."
"And then disguised ourselves as Deatheaters," Fred continued. "It wasn't hard. We just mussed up our hair and made ourselves look like we haven't bathed in a year."
George grinned and nodded. "And we charmed the fireworks to go off..." the younger twin paused to check the time. "In about ten minutes. Then we snuck down to Knockturn Alley and tossed 'em around in random places."
"YOU WHAT??" Six voices shouted in perfect synchronization.
The two pranksters' eyes widened in surprise for the briefest of moments before their grins returned even bigger than before.
"C'mon, we can see the action best from over here," Fred waved them over to the right side of the roof.
George hung back and wrapped his arm around Y/N, who was still giving him the stink eye.
"I can’t believe you did that," she hissed. "After all that talk about me walking alone at night when I got back, and then you go and do this. This was like ten times more dangerous."
"But I wasn't alone. I had Fred," he explained.
"Yes, but you went into their territory," Y/N pointed out. "That was just asking for it."
"Nothing bad happened, love," he pled.
"But it could have," his wife countered, looking away. "You could've been captured or killed," she added with a trembling voice.
George stopped and stepped in front of her. "We were really careful. No one saw what we were doing or recognized us. We took every precaution." He lifted her chin with his fingers, meeting her gaze eye-to-eye. "And it won't happen again. Promise. It was only for our birthday."
Y/N looked at him for a long moment. "Good," she said finally. "Because you're really damn close to not getting laid tonight." Then she stepped around him quickly, hoping he didn't notice the smirk playing on her lips.
"Hey! Now wait minute, baby!" George hurried after her. "That's not fair!"
~•~
Y/N couldn't help the giggles that overtook her, watching panicked Deatheaters running around, aiming their wands in every direction, trying to stop the never-ending barrage of firecrackers. If it had it been anyone else, Y/N would've been deeply concerned for their welfare and very upset with George and Fred. But these were Deatheaters. They kidnapped, tortured, and killed people for fun. And they had a bounty on one of her dearest friend's head.
Of all the things the twins could've done to them, she figured they'd got off pretty light.
"Well, that was quite the explosive ending to a great day," Ron said as they descended the stairs to the apartment.
Harry nodded. "I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard."
"Glad you enjoyed it, mate," Fred clapped him on the back. "You deserve a good laugh."
"We all do," Hermione chimed in, a sly grin spread across her face.
"Hey, you know you did good when Hermione's praising you," Ginny joked, slipping beside Harry. Fred cocked an eyebrow at the move but said nothing.
"When are you all headed back to Hogwarts," Bill asked, addressing the younger crowd.
"Tonight," Ron sighed. "Gotta be back for classes in the morning. You know how it - "
Ron's voice faded into the distance as George once again pulled Y/N away.
"I know you enjoyed it," he said, grinning. "You were giggling like crazy."
"I did enjoy it," she responded, keeping her gaze straight ahead.
"So..." George probed. "Does that mean I'm forgiven?"
"Of course you're forgiven," she replied, still not looking at him.
"Cool. Cool," he said, nodding. "And does that mean - "
"I'll consider it," Y/N teased, turning to look at him with a wide smirk.
George's mouth fell open. "But I'm the birthday boy..."
"Indeed you are," she kissed his cheek. "Happy Birthday, my love." Then, without another word, she turned and hurried to catch up with the rest of the group, leaving her poor, confused husband in the dust.

Forbidden Love
George Weasley x Reader Words: 790 Summary: George is used to sharing everything with his brother. So seeing him, having something that he wants as well, makes it difficult for him, to come to terms with his emotions.
George hated watching you, but it was the only thing he could do. The way you moved through the crowded and noisy common room, the way you skipped down the stairs, your quick steps through the halls. He couldn't help but stare at you in awe. And yet he wasn't allowed to. George hated to hear your voice, your laughter. The sweet sound filled the air whenever he was near you. It made the butterfly in his stomach flutter. He loved talking to you, he loved making you smile and laugh. And yet he hated being the cause of it. He shouldn't talk to you, shouldn't allow you to have such power over him. George hated having you in his house for the summer. He hated seeing you sit on his bed and walk through his bedroom. His mother beamed when she heard you were coming to spend the last two weeks of summer vacation at the Burrow. When he heard you were coming, he had to excuse himself from the room and pretend to have an upset stomach. He couldn't escape you at school, and now he had to endure two more weeks in your presence. But the worst part was that in the back of his mind, he hoped there would be a moment just between the two of you. A moment where you only had eyes for him. In which you looked at him the way he looked at you. And he hated that thought. He hated himself for even allowing his thoughts to wander to you. He didn't know how he was going to survive this. He couldn't escape you, he didn't want to, but he had to do it so desperately. You weren't his, you never would be, and he had to accept that and move on. Without you, but with you at the same time, because you were a part of his life. "Sure, you don't want to join in, Georgie?" The booming voice of his twin brought him back to reality. Fred, you, Ron, Harry, Bill, and Charlie, who had come to visit over the summer, were all sitting on their brooms in the air, ready to play Quidditch. "No. I'm fine," he muttered the last part. He didn't know what was wrong with him. He wanted to play with his brother, wanted to pretend that everything was fine. But he didn't want to have any more to do with you than he had to. Instead, he just pretended to watch the game, while his eyes were only on one person in the air. His eyes followed you wherever you flew. He noticed your smile, your face shining in the sunlight. How your hair swayed in the summer breeze when you came to a halt in mid-air. How you yelled at his brothers and Harry for trying to cheat or making up rules. "You'll get over it." His sister's voice startled him as she came up a few steps behind him. She sat down next to him in the grass and looked at her friends and siblings. " Pardon me?" He didn't know what she was getting at. "You'll get used to Fred not being around. I mean, you're not conjoined twins, are you? At some point you're going to have to go your own way." "I still don't know what you're trying to say, Ginny?" "You're jealous of Y/N, aren't you? You were so used to being with Fred all the time and you know she's always with him. I see the looks you give her. I see you trying to avoid her, but then you still want to be with Fred," she laughed and poked him in the side. He didn't know how to respond to that. She was right and yet so wrong. It wasn't you he was jealous of. It was his brother. The one person he had shared everything with since he was born. He was the one who got to hold you and kiss you when it should have been him. He knew his brother deserved to be with you. He was just like himself, wasn't he? But for George, it still felt wrong to see the two of you together, wishing it was him though he was. But he couldn't tell that to Ginny or anyone else. "Yeah, maybe you're right," he answered his sister quietly. He watched you from a distance again. At least you were in his life and he could spend time with you. And maybe the feelings he had for you would subside with time. At least he prayed it would, because his love for you was forbidden.

"So the years went by -- I stayed the same -- But she began to drift away... I was left alone... Still I waited for the day When she'd say, 'I will always love you...'"
~"When She Loved Me (cover)" by Michael Crawford
x~x~x~x
Okay, seriously, why do I hurt myself like this?? ;~;
Surprisingly enough, this all came about because I wanted to explore the dynamic between Carewyn, her brother Jacob, and her BFF Bill Weasley. Bill was Carewyn's right-hand man for her entire time dealing with the Cursed Vaults, with the two together being the main Cursebreaking duo that saved Hogwarts from the dangerous curses threatening them. This also meant that -- since Bill was that little bit older than Carewyn and he was so used to playing the "big brother" role for his own siblings -- the eldest Weasley ended up filling the role Jacob had played in Carewyn's life when she was younger, in the sense of being her near constant companion and main source for both protection and advice. And since Bill and Carewyn's personalities were so similar, they ended up connecting really quickly and soon became the "Papa Bear" and "Mama Bear" of their friend group.
This, however, left Jacob feeling a lingering bitter resentment toward Carewyn's Surrogate Big Brother Best Friend. Bill in a lot of ways embodies a lot of Jacob's worst insecurities -- Bill had always made his parents proud, even becoming Prefect and Head Boy, while Jacob had been seen as a delinquent most of his school career; Bill had been able to have a reasonably normal childhood, while Jacob had had to grow up too fast and become the man of the house at age eleven; Bill had a large, close-knit family with six siblings and two parents who loved him unconditionally, while Jacob had only ever had his mum and Carewyn, since his own father saw him as nothing but a screw-up and arguably left his family partially because of Jacob having magic; Bill had been raised in the Wizarding World, while Jacob had been raised feeling like a freak in Muggle suburbia; Bill was patient and slow to anger, while Jacob had a violent temper; Bill was sensitive, organized and responsible, while Jacob was people-dumb, disorganized, and mercurial; and, to top it all off, Bill had been there to witness Carewyn grow up, when Jacob could not. Bill knew Carewyn in a way Jacob couldn't, when she was the center of Jacob's whole world. Jacob and Carewyn had been each other's closest friend and confidante from the very beginning thanks to their shared Legilimency potential -- and now, thanks to R and the Cursed Vaults, Jacob had missed out on seven years of both his and Carewyn's lives. And the person who'd "replaced" him in that time in his little sister's life -- whether he meant to or not -- was Bill Weasley. It's something Jacob knows he should feel grateful for, but just can't, in the face of his deep-seeded jealousy of Bill that is fed by Jacob's own remorse, inner demons, and longing for what he never had.
Although Jacob would have trouble articulating any of these feelings to anyone, and although he'd never actively disparage Bill around his sister since he knows how much Carewyn loves her best friend, that doesn't mean that it isn't still really unpleasant for Jacob to interact with Bill as an adult. It's not uncommon for Jacob to speak in a very clipped, detached sort of way whenever he and Bill end up at the same tomb together, clearly wanting to finish the job and part ways with him sooner rather than later. Bill doesn't fully get the depth of why Jacob dislikes him so much, especially when he thinks Jacob is perfectly brilliant and he would like nothing more than for Jacob to be just as much a part of his family as Carewyn is -- but the ginger-haired Cursebreaker is insightful enough of a person to know it's nothing personal and treat Jacob as kindly as he can despite his spikes.
Hope you all have a lovely evening, all...much love! 💙

𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐀𝐙𝐄, chapter one WEASLEY VS SLUGHORN
pairing: percy weasley x fem!oc (olympia slughorn)
word count: 1.04k
warnings: none
series masterlist
Tumblr media
percy weasley strived for validation of the academic kind, wanted to set himself apart from his ragtag group composed of five brothers and one sister that was designated to him at birth. he had no choice, each one of his siblings had something about them that set them apart from the rest.
ginny's was obvious since she was the only girl and the youngest, ron was somewhat friendly towards the muggle children who wandered into the fields surrounding the burrow every so often, which put him into his father's good books for learning about the 'fascinating' way that they live. fred and george had each other, like they were two peas unable to be prised out of their pod. charlie was sporty and had offers to go professional with his quidditch playing but turned it down for an even more rugged job handling dragons in eastern europe, bill was devil-may-care and living it large in an entirely different continent and was breaking curses in the last year of you-know-who's power.
everything that he, percy, was not.
where they were cool he was awkward, where they were popular he sunk into the shadows, and where they were doted upon he was given a book and a drink to keep quiet.
merlin, even ron seemed to be more favoured than him, and he was starting his first ever year of hogwarts with twin brothers who took the mickey out of him ( fred and george ), an even older brother who tried do disassociate himself from lower year riff-raff ( percy ), a legacy left behind by brothers who'd graduated to become great things, and no possessions that were originally his own.
the only things he had in his trunk that hadn't been passed down from brother to brother was his collection of homemade knitted jumpers, the pile of corned beef sandwiches he gagged simply at the sight of and the writing set he'd been given on his eleventh birthday by their great aunt tessie.
but, where percy lacked a brain of street smart tips and popular wizard culture, he made up for in ingenuity and drive to over achieve even if he fizzled out before his newt exams in three years time. and yet, percy still wasn't doing anything original or generically 'him' he realised when his prefects badge had landed in his bowl of porridge at the breakfast table one morning - bill had already been a prefect and then gone on to be head boy, charlie had smashed it out the park with his outstanding newt results too.
so he worked day and night, stalked the garden for muggle fireflies he could keep in a jar on his desk to observe for his summer task from the muggle studies teacher, poured himself over text book upon text book, any reading material he could get his hands on to put him in good standing for his owl year starting in september. percy snatched coloured pencils from ginny's desk draw when she was helping ron fling disorientated gnomes over the garden hedge to draw himself up a revision timetable, scheduled to start the first day back after the welcome feast.
he was going to pass his exams with flying colours, attend every single optional class and wrangle help out of his teachers if it was the last thing he did. even getting over himself to ask one of the students in the year above who was taking newt level potions to boost his grade up from an 'e' to a 'o'.
anything to see the look on olympia slughorn's face when the name 'percy weasley' was printed above hers in the top slot when the student rankings in each class was posted anonymously at the end of each month, like they had been since before his parents could remember.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
olympia slughorn was in a deeply committed one sided relationship with percy weasley - she hated him more than anything in the world and she wouldn't trust him as a confidante as far as she could launch him with a beaters bat. it wouldn't be too great of a distance compared to those who were on the slytherin quidditch team could hit, but she still had a good shot and that was enough for her.
he poked his nose into business it didn't belong, tried too hard to cosy up to his teachers by snitching on members of his class if a piece of homework was overdue, and constantly tried to ask her overly complex questions about origins of ingredients for her potions in effort to throw her off. it never worked, though. olympia had prevailed at the top of only one class in her entire four years at hogwarts thus far, and that was potions.
it ran though her blood, it was the one thing the slughorn's had in their legacy apart from her great uncle horace's self titled 'slug club' from his teaching days at hogwarts. he'd retired the year olympia was due to start attending the magical boarding school but still sent her various potion ingredients and recipes to create during the term time.
potions was the only subject she was predicted an 'o' in.
potions was the only thing she wanted to continue doing for the rest of her life.
there was no other option. percy weasley had to learn his place in the pecking order, and olympia knew just the way to ensure it.
she holed herself up in the small library room of the slughorn estate, significantly smaller in size compared to the lestrange manor that was dissed and had fallen into disrepair and the malfoy manor guarded with towering iron gates and white peacocks. there was seven floor to ceiling book cases in the library dedicated to potions, ingredients, poignant moments in wizarding history that advanced the world of potions, magical creatures host to rare ingredients that cost an arm and a leg to purchase.
olympia prized her validation just above thwarting anyone that was standing in her way, deliberate or not. she would snap her vintage muggle 'the beatles' records over the stone gargoyles over the front door of the house if the student rankings were posted and the name 'olympia slughorn' was printed below 'percy weasley'.
