Baba Jaimal Singh On Daily Spiritual Practice - Also: Often Used Mystic Terms of the Masters
Tumblr media
"Particularly, just before going to sleep, see that there is no worldly desire or any kind of desire in the mind. Then repeat the Names. Then repeat the word 'Radhasoami'."
Baba Jaimal Singh: "Now I write to you a little about 'Parmarth': When you are free from your work and have leisure, develop that condition of the mind which enjoys 'sushupti' (deep sleep). Particularly, just before going to sleep, see that there is no worldly desire or any kind of desire in the mind. Then repeat the Names. Then repeat the word 'Radhasoami'. Go on putting 'surat' and 'nirat' in the Dhun and listen to the Sound with love and devotion of the 'nij man', and with an intense longing. And you will feel the bliss of the Dhun or the Sound. You may not be able to keep the attention there for long, but you will enjoy the bliss. Practise this every day, whenever you have time or leisure.
"You should not indulge in those actions which are fruitless -- whether they are of the world or of 'Parmarth'. Your spare time should not be wasted because you are allowed a fixed span of time. You take twenty-four thousand breaths every day. They should be utilized either in the performance of your worldly duties or in 'Parmarth', and the mind should be kept under control -- within the bounds of the Satguru's instructions. Then all worldly and spiritual work will go on very nicely and automatically.
"You should do your Bhajan and Simran  every day." (Baba Jaimal Singh, # 118 and 119)

Spiritual Hygiene
Spiritual hygiene is basically keeping yourself, cleansed, protected and grounded spiritually. People tend to try and do this through daily practices, which for some can be hard to upkeep. As someone with depression and can be lazy at times- sticking to routines can be difficult for me. So here’s some “basics” you can try to slowly add to your day to day that will give you a regular spiritual hygiene routine.
Cleanse yourself when you shower: This can be as simple as asking the water to cleanse you while you shower. Sometimes showering can be hard- for times like this i recommend a cleansing spray. Quick and fairly low spoons. But if you want to put more energy into this step you can enchant your soap/body wash for cleansing, hang eucalyptus above your shower and ask it to cleanse you, make a shower sachet, use spellcrafted oils for cleansing, ect.
Enchant your jewelry and/or skincare for protection: Obviously this one is for when you feel up to doing an actual spell. But, once its done you can just put your jewelry or skincare on for the day and be good to go. Every once in awhile take a moment to check in with your jewelry/items and see if it needs to be cleansed (or make a jewelry cleansing bowl) or needs to be re-enchanted.
Ground yourself when you wake up: once you wake up take even a minute to ground and center yourself. This works both if youre a person like myself who needs to lay in bed for a few minutes before getting up, or if youre a crazy person whos ready to go right away.
Even doing these three things through the week will help build you a strong spiritual hygiene routine and daily practice. Remember to take your time when building a daily practice, and forgive yourself if it’s not done everyday. ✨🫶🏻

Although many yoga asana can be seen as sexual it is not the intention of the practice.
Supported child’s pose is what this is asana is called. During a restorative practice you’ll hold this pose for longer periods of time. The bolster offers support by taking the weight of your torso away. Melting into the pose and observing how your body reacts.

Those who wish to keep the trainings
Must with perfect self-possession guard their minds.
Without this guard upon the mind,
The trainings cannot be preserved.
Wandering where it will, the elephant of mind,
Will bring us down to torment in the hell of Unrelenting Pain.
No worldly beast, however wild and crazed,
Could bring upon us such calamities.
If, with mindfulness’ rope,
The elephant of mind is tethered all around,
Our fears will come to nothing,
Every virtue drop into our hands.
Tigers, lions, elephants, and bears,
Snakes and every hostile foe,
Those who guard the prisoners in hell,
Ghosts and ghouls and every evil wraith,
By simple binding of this mind alone,
All these things are likewise bound.
By simple taming of this mind alone,
All these things are likewise tamed.
For all anxiety and fear,
And pain in boundless quantity,
Their source and wellspring is the mind itself,
As He who spoke the truth declared.
The hellish instruments to torture living beings—
Who invented them for such intent?
Who has forged this burning iron ground;
Whence have all these demon-women sprung?
All are but the offspring of the sinful mind,
This the mighty Sage has said.
Throughout the triple world therefore
There is no greater bane than mind itself.
—Shantideva, The Way of the Bodhisattva: "Vigilant Introspection,” 1-8
1. The mind lives reacting against the impacts that come from the exterior world. One must control these reactions of the mind by means of willpower.
2. If one throws a rock into a lake, then one will see crystalline waves extending from the center to the periphery. The waves become the reaction of the water against the rock.
3. If someone insults us, then we feel anger. This anger is a reaction to the words of the insulter.
4. A pornographic image offends our external senses. The mind then reacts as the lake in the given example, with waves of animal passion that extend from the center to the periphery.
5. We must subdue the senses and command the mind with the mighty whip of willpower.
6. Our mind lives reacting against the impacts of the exterior world.
7. The incessant reactions of the mind deliver pleasure and pain to us.
8. Likes and dislikes are nothing more than the result of the reactions of the subjective mind.
9. It is necessary to control these reactions of the subjective mind in order to pass beyond pleasure and pain.
10. We must become serene and indifferent before praise and slander and before triumph and failure.
11. All the tempests of our existence are nothing more than the result of the reactions of the subjective mind before the impacts that come from the exterior world.
12. A clairvoyant examination permits us to comprehend that the reactions of the mind come from a nuclear center.
13. This nuclear center of the subjective mind is the Guardian of the Threshold of the mind.
14. The Guardian of the Threshold of the mind is similar to the smoke of the flame.
15. The Guardian of the Threshold of the mind is a terrible demonic creature. It lives by reacting against the exterior world with waves of pleasure and pain, with waves of likes and dislikes, and with waves of hatred, envy, greed, slander, selfishness, etc.
16. We have created this guardian on our own, with all the evil of our subjective mind.
17. There is the need to carefully separate the smoke from the flames.
18. It is urgent to deprive ourselves of the Guardian of the Threshold of the mind in order to become liberated from our animal past.

Removing obstacles within and without
A hundred little factors
If you struggle to directly solve issues, then try to address them indirectly. For any problem there can be a hundred little factors feeding into its existence. Therefore, what we might summarise as One Problem can be broken down into a series of smaller obstacles and blockages which are much easier to deal with.
For example, if you’ve been trying forever to fix your sleep cycle by waking up and going to bed early, but it never sticks, then work around it. Make the hours leading up to sleep and after waking up more pleasant and comfortable, take every measure to remove distractions and discomforts. Change what you eat and how much in the hours before sleeping. If you can’t force yourself off your phone, then change what kind of media you consume prior to bedtime.
Sometimes things can be related in unexpected ways, too. Maybe what you needed to sleep better was a chiropractic treatment, or to adjust the ambient temperature, or change the air quality of your bedroom.
Make small simple changes. Don’t try to break habits by creating a vacuum or forcing changes, focus on tweaking and transforming the habits you already have and the environment that surrounds you. Eventually all the little factors will begin to work in your favour.
Heart-mind disconnect
Many issues are difficult to resolve because the Heart and Mind can’t agree. In other words, there is a conflict between what you think vs what you feel. For example, emotional problems may linger because the Mind has decided to move on but the Heart still needs help and reassurance on the matter. Or, there may be a sense of stagnancy when your Heart is no longer happy but your Mind is saying that you need to remain in the situation out of moral principles.
Because it is possible for the Heart and Mind to hold different emotions and opinions, it is also possible for them to experience the same things for different reasons.
Your Mind may be experiencing anxious thoughts because you have a mental habit of assuming the worst case scenario, but your Heart could also be anxious except it is because you feel afraid of social disapproval if things should go wrong on your account.
This is a possible reason why changing your thinking patterns may not fully resolve negative emotions, because a portion of the emotion’s source remains unacknowledged. Likewise, you may have been able to put your Heart at ease, but the Mind has not understood the matter logically and may repeat unhelpful decisions.
People have a tendency to get their thoughts and feelings mixed up. We say “I think” when we mean “I feel” or vice versa. This makes resolving issues more difficult because we have not determined the true source of the problem, so there is always a force pulling you backwards.
When the Heart and Mind are both acknowledged and understood, then they can truly align in their goals and work harmoniously to their full potential.
Building helpful habits
Discipline is not a result of willpower alone. It is very difficult for anyone to have the energy to persist when the conditions are unfavourable. Hence, if you are trying to hone a skill, meditate daily, or otherwise make other positive changes to your lifestyle, these goals must begin with the removal of obstacles both within and without. All conflicts need to be traced back to their source and properly understood, before lasting change is achieved.
We must carve out the channels before we can direct the flow of the rivers.

All In: Daily Devotion
All In: Daily Devotion
Hebrews 5.11-14 Paul says it this way in Romans 12.2, “…do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” By spending quality time in God’s Word every day, the Spirit takes the truth that we have read and begins to transform us, so that whatever the situation, we can…
