Ever since they moved into their new apartment, Character A has had trouble sleeping. Being from the big city, they weren’t used to the quietness of an isolated apartment complex that almost seemed swallow every stray sound whole. 

The somber silence of night made their heart slowly pound loudly in their ears -- *thathump*, *thathump*, *thathump* -- while they struggled to fall asleep. After a good long while, it wasn’t the silence of the apartment that gave Character A a feeling of unease, but that steady rhythm pounding on their eardrums, almost maddeningly slow:   *thathump*, *thathump*, *thathump*...

Character A didn’t find rest that night. They laid awake, terrified to move and interrupt the heartbeat that never faltered or strayed from the same slow beat. The heartbeat disappeared during the early morning hours, and Character A knew now more than ever that the vacuum it left behind was the most terrifying thing of all.

I have some news that may come as a yikes. However, I would encourage you not to be sad. This message is simply to let everyone know where my headspace has been lately with my writing and what’s happening this fall.

As most of you know, I’ve been writing Alura since late 2019. It’s my pet project and arguably my magnum opus as far as fanfiction goes. Unfortunately, sometimes we make stupid mistakes on our writing journey. Mine was specifically writing that whole 100K draft of Seraphite in April. It was exhausting and burned me out to the point of it being a passionless endeavor to continue writing, especially after I got into Death Note and decided I was going to write Heart. Right now I feel like I’m going in circles with Seraphite and it’s making me dread writing, which I really don’t want to happen. I want to enjoy writing but my “writer’s mental health” is rapidly declining by trying to force myself to finish this work.

How long will the break last? Until I’m done with Judas and Heart. These two stories should be completed around the end of summer, and by then I think I’ll have gotten some healthy distance from Seraphite by then. I’ll return to the Alura Trilogy with a fresh mind once I’ve shifted genres and characters and I’m not so hyperfocused I can’t multitask. I hope to deliver something self-indulgent soon so I can free up my mind to go back to Seraphite thinking clearly about everything that needs to fall into place.

I tried to write something to sum up my thoughts on this, but then it got longer and longer and tbh I'm itching to write a fic set in this AU djjdkf I think I could develop on their inner feelings more than in the comic form

Before posting the first part I didn't realize people had such strong opinions on how this would play out lmaooo

imo, of course Zoro wants to fight Sanji, not with actual intent to harm (they threaten each other on the daily, come on), but because that's how they are together, how they communicate. He respects Luffy's decisions and their goal here, which is to learn what's really going on with Sanji, but he's gonna be pissy about it all he wants. They both have so many intense and conflicted feelings about this and neither has any idea how to resolve them. So they fight.
