Okay, something I realized a while ago is how the fandom doesn't give Kiribaku enough shit like it does with the bkdk or other ships, like an anti bkdk myself that prefer Izuku ten meters away from bk, same thing that many krdk shippers want too. However, many of them likes the cliche of  “bad boy with everyone but nice with the good boy who helps calm him down (this dynamic is repeated in with kachaco but heterosexual version)” In addition the ship is to the detriment of murdering Kirishima's character in the supposed relationship, although Horikoshi murdered the character when he became bakugou follower without self-criticism or construction of why a character who hated bullies and who wanted to learn to be braver to protect the weak he still decides to persecute someone who doesn’t show kindness or compassion to others.

I'm going to be honest, I don't like Kirishima's character, I think that many of his scenes, especially with BK, end up reinforcing a toxic masculinity because even though BK's behavior is toxic, he ends up labeling them as "manly", I think there is never any self-criticism on Kirishima's part towards this and while I understand that this is more Horikoshi's fault than anything else, I think that the fandom presents Kirishima as a deconstruction of toxic masculinity but that they end up cementing themselves with bk, because Kirishima sees in bk only his confidence and talent but he doesn't react when his actions are simply toxic or cruel to others, krbk is presented as a ship where kirishima is bk's lapdog and the worst of all is that it agrees with the canon since kirishima never stands over him to point out his flaws.

I think the reason it gets less flak than the others is because for the most part KrBk shippers are quiet and do their own thing. Also, Ejiro’s not linked to Izuku in any way, which makes it easier for people to stomach.

I can see why you don’t like him. I’m neutral towards him but Ejiro’s biggest problem is his inconsistency. When Ejiro’s without Katsuki, he’s a very interesting character. He’s a character meant to embody positive masculinity. Sadly, he’s with Katsuki most of the time, and even when he’s not, Katsuki’s involved in some way. I get finding someone’s free spirit and determination cool, but Katsuki embodies the worst aspects of these traits. Ejiro doesn’t seem to get that. When Katsuki rushed in to hit Kurogiri, Ejiro followed, not once thinking about the ramifications. Neither gets scolded either for essentially putting the rest of their classmates in danger. If Mezou wasn’t there, things could’ve ended up much worse.

the courtship ritual of the hercules beetle by kittebasu Teen, 66k words, Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru I have a soft spot for “we missed our chance at love now we’ll never reconnect” and then there’s lots of pining and regret then they always end up reconnecting and it’s a good time. this fic is no exception, and there’s lots of interesting beetle information that makes me want to infuse my own fics with hyper-specific interests of mine. anywho please read this you’ll thank me later.

Kiss Me Through the Screen by Ischemia Mature, 70k words, Kaminari Denki/Shinsou Hitoshi this one is a bit of a guilty pleasure. it’s not bad or anything, it’s just majorly fluffy and fun and it’s just not the style I usually read. in any case, this work is just everything complete with flustered, stumbling Shinsou and a characterization fo Kaminari that is to die for. it’s a nice break from my own shinkami fic which is just constant self-sabotage.

Vienna Waits for You by poulerslashes Explicit, 151k words, Asahi Azumane/Nishinoya Yuu This was one of the first fics I ever read and it changed my life forever. The themes in it really inspired my work Night Shift, themes like adulthood and regret and insecurity. But, really, it’s a national treasure, I wept and felt and laughed which is all I ask for in a fic.

and if you’re wondering, yes, I read In Another Life. and yes, it created an entirely new facet of my already existing mental illness. that is not a joke, I actually cannot reread it ever.

MHA SPOILERS AND THEORY

Okay so with everything that's going on in the manga I believe we're possibly going to see Deku die. If you remember in the beging of MHA Deku says "This is how I became the worlds greatest hero" and not "This is how I became the #1 Pro-Hero", plus if you look at current Dekus sleeves and the opening Dekus sleeves we see a similarly. In order for Deku to defeat AFO he's gonna need to unlock 100% of OFA to do so, in the battle he's gonna need to destroy OFA to defeat AFO and free Shigiraki. Causing him to become the greatest hero by destroying AFO and losing his life to protect the world as a whole. This is where Hirikoshi would make either Bakugo or Todoroki the new protagonist, I'm leaning more towards Bakugo because he's going to feel like he could never be forgiven for what he did to Deku and was never able to apologize for it. Now if we look at Todoroki he's going to be devastated as he just lost his best friend. Deku helped guide Todoroki and become who he is. And now Ochako, she just lost her best friend as well. Her losing Deku will probably either cause her to drop being a hero or work harder as that's Deku would've wanted for her to do. She would now become the person Todoroki would turn to and possibly Bakugo. We would see three people broken and hurt after Dekus death, one feeling as he will never be able to redeem himself the other two with nobody to inspire them. Bakugo have already established that he respects Ochako as an equal would go to her and ask her for advice, Todoroki already having an established friendship with Ochako as well will turn to her. But once we hit their adult hood we seen an older Bakugo turn to a little boy and just so "Or that's how the nerd would tell it". Chances are he names his son Izuku because he feels as if that's a way to not only remember and honor him but to apologize for all the stuff he did to him because he never got to tell him sorry verbally.

Remember this is just my personal theory and to respect it. But honestly I see Hirikoshi setting Ochako up with the next protagonist and not letting her become her own person if Deku does die :/

Modern AU Headcanons (bakugo x uraraka)

Bakugo and Ochako still end up in the same high school and in the same class.

Everyone’s surprised Bakugo makes it to Class 1-A, because he’s kind of a delinquent type and Class 1-A consists of high achievers with good grades.

Turns out, Bakugo is just one of those naturally gifted prodigies who act out because they’re bored, understimulated, and frustrated.

Ochako is understandably annoyed.

She’s out here busting her ass trying to maintain her class standing so that she can get into a good university and eventually help her family’s business grow. Meanwhile, Bakugo can’t be fucked to attend the class study sessions.

He says he’s sick of their faces after having to see them all day every day in class. He’d rather not study with them outside class hours too.

Ochako can’t help it. She scoffs. Like, loud and expressive enough for Bakugo to hear.

Bakugo’s so surprised, because Ochako’s normally so mild-mannered and nice to everyone, that he doesn’t even say anything.

Eventually, Bakugo starts to notice little things about her. Like how she’s nice and friendly to everyone, but just cold and polite to him.

When they have to do a group project, Ochako keeps shooting down his ideas (not that he has any serious ones) and mostly ignores him (not that he wants to do group work).

But Bakugo is anything BUT non-confrontational. So he asks: “Do you have a problem with me?!”

And Ochako, who’s already stressed about being group leader when she hates having to take any leadership roles yells back: “Actually, yes!”

When Bakugo yells back, she doesn’t back down, and she finally (FINALLY) gives him the earful she’s been holding back all semester. She calls him out on his jaded genius bullshit, and points out how insecure he actually is.

Bakugo is taken aback. For once, he has nothing to say. But hours later, when he’s alone and can’t stop thinking about the altercation, he presses a hand to his chest and smiles wide.

That’s the most fun he’s had in a while. That’s the most understood he’s felt in a while. And how dare she?

Because Ochako is “a GOOD PERSON goddamnit!” She apologizes to him the next day. Bakugo laughs and tells her not to apologize for speaking her mind. Although, he says if she tries it again, he won’t hold back.

Ochako is surprised to find herself blushing. She’s more surprised when she retorts: “Good. It would be weirder if you did.”

Bakugo is still his usual irreverent self in class, but everyone notices that there’s less venom and more glee. Those closest to him definitely notice how he sneaks a glance at Ochako whenever he thinks he’s said or done something particularly scandalous.

And EVERYONE is surprised when he actually starts showing up for the study group. But since he’s Bakugo, and since he’s mostly there to pester Ochako, everyone wonders if they’re actually learning anything.

Towards the end of the school year, Bakugo finally asks Ochako out on a date. And she wants to say “yes”. She really does. But she can’t help but wonder if he’s only interested in her because she calls him out on his bullshit. And would he eventually get bored when things calm down between them?

She tells him as much and Bakugo is hurt and feels rejected, so he lashes out, as usual, and sulks silently for the remainder of the year.

Over break, he has some time to think about what Ochako means to him. So, he makes a list.

Bakugo lists down all the things he likes about her, and at first, it’s shallow school crush things like her hair and her cute face. But as the list grows, he finds himself writing about her quiet strength and determination, her hopes and dreams. He writes about how she makes him feel when she is honest to him. How her smile, her real one, not the polite one, makes him feel special and cherished and like he can do anything and be whoever he wants to be, because she’s there and she’s smiling at him like she believes in him, and OH MY GOD BAKUGO LOVES HER.

He visits her home and personally hands her the letter. He apologizes for his behavior for ONCE in his life, but asks her to read it after he’s left.

He did not anticipate Ochako’s speed-reading skills, because he’s not halfway home when he hears her running and calling out to him.

She confesses. He confesses again. They kiss! And it’s sloppy and rushed, but they have every chance to make up for it later.
