Background: As the next leader of noble Gráste house, Charles was raised to be in charge of his family affairs by the time he was 60 years old and was groomed to be one of Balwirk's next generation of leaders. In 1083, he had encountered Berine hiding in Balwirk's forest and assumed that she was a refugee fleeing from the Lichteran. He proceeded to shelter her with approval from his family. She was advised to keep a low profile in Balwirk as the majority opinion leant towards Hasso's favour, and soon tasked with the role as Charles' personal bodyguard from the shadows

In Tivere 1130, he and Eva had a mutual breakup. Heartbroken but wanting the best for his ex, he did his best to get Emmet together with Eva after learning that the Ilagorta heir held feelings for her. He was overjoyed to hear that they made plans to marry in 1188, which confused both his family and Berine as they were aware that he sincerely loved Eva, but none dared to question his motives

In 1149, there were whispers of a radical group of elven researchers who sought ways to preserve life even after their heads had been severed from the neck. Emmet investigated into this matter but disappeared shortly afterwards, which prompted Charles to investigate into his disappearance due to his duties as a noble. In Vierum 1150, he received an anonymous tip to investigate the Soféinaiths and to leave Berine behind as she would hinder the investigation

Worried that the Soféinaiths were up to something dangerous and that Berine was actually the main target, Charles decided to force his friend to stay behind and not follow him in his investigation. Despite being against it, Berine eventually caved in and promised to stay behind. He then snuck into the Soféinaiths' house, soon discovering a hidden door that led to a bloodied labaratory

Horrified, he planned to escape and inform the rest what he had found. Unfortunately, he was caught by Gerald's father who promptly knocked him out. He eventually woke up to the sight of his body, his neck severed and with a bright blue flame blazing out from it. The elven researchers cheered and carved a 2 onto the back of his left hand before restraining him with chains and leaving him alone in a room. Charles tried to escape, but quickly discovered that the chains drained him of his magic

Resigned to his fate, he was eventually accompanied by Eva, who had went looking for him and Emmet, Berine, who searched for him, and Finbar, who looked into the alarming number of kidnapping cases after discovering a suspicious trend but had gotten nimself experimented on in the process. This prompted Berine to raise the possibility that Cain was behind the researchers' decision to kidnap nobles. While the remaining three didn't agree with this theory, Charles placed his trust in her and vowed to investigate into this matter once they were freed. Finbar shared that it was unlikely to be Cain as he had also disappeared, though ne admitted that at that point, the researchers were so far gone that it was unclear if Cain had influenced them prior to his disappearance

After an undetermined length of time passed, Addyson blasted the door open with her sound magic and was able to free Berine and Finbar before returning to deal with the researchers. The freed dullahans proceeded to free Charles and Eva, the four of them spreading out to find and free the remaining survivors. Once freed, they killed the researchers, mostly out of self-defence

After everything was over, the 16 dullahans gathered and discussed on their course of action. Despite their distaste towards the entire act, they kept the notes and studied it. Aileen was able to identify the flaws in the research notes, which cultivated in the alarmingly high mortality rate. Together with Eva, Hywel as well as Ilias' existing research on arcane magic, the trio was able to create a ritual that tapped onto Ratein's ley lines which made it safer to turn someone into a dullahan. Afterwards, they destroyed the original notes such that no one could ever attempt the cruel methods used to create dullahans again

Brianna and Danielle then pointed out that the very notion of turning someone into a dullahan was unthinkable, and sought to get an unanimous consensus that under no circumstances should the 16 turn others into dullahans unless the individual in question was prepared to bear the curse of being one. Charles naturally agreed, relieved that Balwirkian society was safe from the threat

While his family welcomed both back with open arms despite being dullahans, public opinion towards them were unfavourable and they were forcibly stripped of their nobility. Despite this, the Grástes did their best to serve the community. Following up on his promise, Charles worked alongside her and investigated into Cain. They eventually learnt that Cain was the reason to why the Unois Empire started and flourish, and that Berine was right in saying that the Eighth Dullahan wasn't who he seemed. They also discovered that Gerald was involved in morally bankrupt activities of his own and had contact with Cain sometime in 1472, but as the Fourth Dullahan didn't reach out to him, Charles decided to leave him alone

Not willing to alarm Balwirk despite the very real threat of an invasion, Charles wanted to keep Cain's betrayal a secret from everyone and resolve the matter on his own. He then asked Berine to keep it a secret, the latter reluctant to do so. He was surprised when she agreed, and expressed his sincerest gratitude towards the burden he had placed on her

As he was also dating Finbar around 1624, which was after they learnt about Cain and Gerald, he resolved to not tell nim about them in hopes of not dragging any more loved ones into danger. However, tensions between them flared in 1678 when Finbar expressed that while ne still loved him, ne was tired of Charles keeping secrets from practically everyone but Berine, and questioned if he was actually ready to enter relationships given his private nature. Charles tried to diffuse the situation by explaining that he didn't wish to burden Finbar with his troubles, which prompted to the latter to state that Eva was never happy with him during their relationship and that Charles was using Berine's gratitude towards him to do his dirty work

Shocked by Finbar's comments, he wasn't able to say anything as while he had a mutual breakup with Eva, he knew that the latter felt that she couldn't be trusted due to his private nature. Finbar immediately apologised and suggested that they should break up due to Charles' personality and that even if he changes, the fact that ne said such hurtful words to him meant that ne couldn't trust him either, something which Finbar genuinely felt that Charles deserved better

Charles sadly agreed, mutually breaking up and going their separate ways. Shortly after in 1694, news of Hywel's mysterious death reached Balwirk. Out of love and worries that Cain was behind the Tenth Dullahan's death, he went out of his way to keep himself in the loop about Finbar's alliance with the Murphys and Duxburys as they supplied Balwirk with ammunition should the Unois Empire ever threatened their sovereignty. When news of the Thirteenth Dullahan's death was made known in 15 Tierna 1701, he harboured regrets over not opening up to Finbar and felt that he could've prevented nis death if he had revealed that Cain was heavily involved with the empire

Upon learning that the Murphys left an 11 year old daughter, he wanted to adopt her as his way of atoning for indirectly ruining a happy family and to protect her from the Unois Empire's invasion that occurred three months after the Thirteenth Dullahan's death. He decided against it in the end after Berine informed him that the orphanage had ties to Brianna via Hana, which made him feel secure that the orphanage was safe. As the war progressed, both he and Berine intensified their participation in the Balwirkian War. He was caught off-guard on 18 Rexim 1706 when the ambush was carried out, and was fatally wounded by the Fourth Dullahan in the process. As he was dying in Berine's arms, for she found him seconds too late to save him, he learnt that Cain's betrayal was explicitly known by everyone and expressed regret for not revealing his betrayal centuries before. The last words he said was an apology to Berine for forcing his burdens on her despite her clear reluctance...

Im very late with this drawing... And we only got 6 days left till the end of this. Im not ready for next week! :(

Well so.. This was some news that really feel sad. And im not talking about something super serious but.. It’s about the end of a channel that I’ve been watching for years and still to this day that help me love animation! And that is a Canadian channel called teletoon. Which unfortunately has announced a few weeks ago, it will be replaced by Cartoon Network on March 27th.

For those who don’t know, Teletoon was basically our cartoon network. Before it ever came to Canada in 2011, we had Teletoon to provide us with the cartoon network shows! When I was a toddler I watched a lot of this channel as well as YTV! I remember all of the cartoon network shows that aired on this channel back in the day like Dexter’s Labaratory, Johnny Bravo, The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy, Codename Kids Next door, and many more! And not only that they also aired Warner Bros’s shows like the looney tunes, the scooby doo cartoons,the tom and jerry cartoons, the DC cartoons, and of course not to mention this is the channel that aired my number one favorite cartoon that made me go back to falling in love with animation, MAD the animated series!

However, this channel wouldn’t just show cartoon network shows! Since here in Canada we have this law that requires all Canadian channels to focus mostly on Canadian content, they do air some original content that might not be good but there are some that I highly remember watching that I loved back in my childhood, and there’s even cartoons that airs on the channel that dose come from CN or isn’t an original series from the channel.

As you can see, this was a Canadian channel for many cartoons! And the channel even has it’s own version of Boomerang and Adult swim! I remember it’s adult programing block back in the early 2000′s which was call The Detour on Teletoon where they actually aired the adult swim shows, but it would later be called Teletoon at Night in 2010. (However the block’s dead now since we officially got a separate Adult swim channel in 2019. I'm not joking! We actually have an full on Adult Swim channel!) And we also had Teletoon Retro which of course is our version of Boomerang where they aired some classic hanna-barbera and warner bros cartoons! But it became Cartoon Network and no longer aired retro shows. (for now..)

There was a lot of things I remember when watching this channel and it was really great to at least have access to watch most of CN’s content before we ever used the internet. And I’ve seen this channel change over the years, and yeah it’s not the same today as what I’ve used to watch when I was just a toddler and had no idea what’s even going on in these shows, but hey! Cartoons are meant to entertain kids and also adults! And I did had some memories where I enjoyed watching a show or two! And to hear this sad news that Teletoon is going to become Cartoon Network, and the Cartoon Network channel we have is actually going to be Boomerang, it feels...sad to me.

Again, this is a channel that I grew attached to in my childhood as well as other Canadians who grew up in the late 90′s to the early 2000′s. Heck even born in the 2000′s, like me! And im thankful I was able to watch this channel at it’s prime before we became so reliant on the internet and shows always have to be reliant with the internet today.

I’m going to miss teletoon so much, but... It’s not really dead since they have mentioned they’re going to make a new streaming service called teletoon+, but since it’s a streaming service, I aint paying for one! Ugh..

But yeah, overall I am sad to see the time where this channel disappear, but I am curious to see how will things go with Cartoon Network taking it’s place next week. But the time comes, I’ll always remember it as Teletoon! This channel gave me the chance to see Cartoon Network’s greatest cartoons! And Im glad that it did and i’m thankful for that! So here’s a little somber art piece I made just to pay respects for the network. I even added a little cameo of two cartoony characters (the wolf and the gopher)  from one of the bumpers the channel used to air. However.. I don’t remember seeing those bumpers but they came out in 2003, I think?

So Teletoon, thanks for the memories and you’ll never be forgotten..

Day 8 - Now let’s give their familiar the spotlight!

Meet Ozzy and the gang!

Ozzymandys is essentially a tressym (a flying cat from DnD). Fran rescued him from a local shady labaratory - they were young and extremely sensitive to injustice (still are), and it was a bad place. They hid Ozzy in the attic, nurtured him back to health, took him out on walks at night and smuggled him to Vesuvia later on.

Because Fran has an ability to understand all languages, they also understood their kitty from day one. And so for a long time they thought their bond with Ozzy was one of a magician and a familiar. And there weren't much evidence to the contrary.

Some years after, settled in their home in Vesuvia, Fran's got a little menagerie: lizards, frogs, turtles and tortoises. Most of them were rescues, some were left on his porch, some found, etc. But there was one creature that found him instead - a young chameleon that was later named Juno.

And this one turned out to be his true familiar. It doesn't negate his bond with Ozzy and the gang, but this one has more connections with the Arcana itself.

(I have plans to develop this plot twist a bit further, so there will be more info on the pets in the future!)

My thoughts about Heaven's Ward with my limited knowledge so far:

Zephirin- This bitch might be a DRK but nobody cares about it or they choose to ignore it for some reason.

Grinnaux/Paulecrain- Their favorite free time activity is bullying teenagers also they are probably boyfriends.

Charibert- Absolutely unhinged and I genuinely believe the pope needs a baby leash to prevent him from disappearing and randomly burning things in Ishgard.
