#mention of child death
Note
tfp scenario , starscream used to have a sparkling before the war and they didn't make it.
Imagine wheeljack taking a jab at starscream for it, only for starscream to go full murder mode on him, how will both factions reaction to that will be?
Optimus is horrified but more than that, he's so, so disappointed in Wheeljack. He knew Wheeljack could be foul mouthed but that was going too far. Of course, he will not let Starscream kill Wheeljack but he will have a long serious talk with him later when they get back to base. Even apologizes to Starscream on Wheeljack's behalf.
Look, Ratchet doesn't like Starscream but even he would never say anything like that to him. The loss of a child is a terrible thing that he wouldn't wish on anyone and the fact that Wheeljack is dense enough to make a jab of it tempts Ratchet to at least let Starscream maim him a little bit. Will chew out Wheeljack the entire time he patches him up.
Yeah, no, that's not cool and Bumblebee is fucking shocked by Wheeljack's words that he just stands there frozen for a full 5 second. Pulls Starscream off his comrade while urging him to take back what he said and apologize. Loses a lot of respect for Wheeljack just because of what he said.
Now, Bulkhead knows Wheeljack better than most and thus he's not really surprised by what he said but he still winces when it happens. Will save him from Starscream's (admittedly deserving) fury but will later tell him that maybe not say something like that again because now Starscream has a personal vendetta against him and that's never a good thing.
If this had been before TFP started then Arcee might have felt worse about it but after what Starscream did to Cliffjumper she doesn't really feel to bad about it. Though she tries to deny it there's actually some sympathy from her because she knows how it feels to lose someone and even she could never imagine how it feels losing a child. Won't admit this though and won't judge Wheeljack for it.

Yandere Platonic guide for WHF
We Happy Few. A guide by me detailing how I figure out my [Reader] Character, and how to deal with the characters of others.
I will update once I have finished playing the whole game.
At the top age, they [Reader] are 17 years old, with the biological Parent being first pregnant the day that the children are supposed to leave on the train. Of course, the Bio Parent doesn't share that knowledge, because they were unaware that day.
An Important fact to note, is that Joy is a contraceptive, hence the Bio Parent must have been a Wastrel, so the best idea is that [Reader] is in the Garden District.
However! Something of great importance to note is that they [any of the other people around the biological parent] would have murdered [Reader] upon finding them out. Regardless of age, so [Reader] MUST have the skills to remain unseen or has been hiding in the Garden District for most of their life, seeing as:
They would have killed Reader for merely existing.
It's also implied that most unborn babies, or children at- or above the age of 13, were murdered because they reminded everyone of the Very Bad Thing. This is a very important fact to remember. Ever since That Very Bad Thing: the day the children were sent to Germany, there hasn't been a baby in Wellington Wells in 17 years. Hence, [Reader] would be 17-18.
Which is the reason why [Reader] must be stealthy, or look slightly older than needed. There are 3 ways to go. 1: is for [Reader] to actually be in the Garden District, hiding in either the bunkers. 2: the people in the Garden districts are Yandere and refuse to give up [Reader] because they are off of their Joy and therefore remember, but feel guilty for this, becoming Yandere because of their guilt. 3: [Reader] is barely able to scrape by the Wastrels and Head-Boys but still survive in the Garden District by hiding in the same area that Arthur came out of when he came out of the first hide-away bunker.

Missing Digidestined Theory
Hi and welcome to my humble abode. Tonight at 4 am, I'm going to (try) to make sense of some Digimon shit. Namely the number of Digidestined in Adventure's world, and how that correlates to a certain statement from the producers. This is entirely headcanon, possibly AU, and also made at 4-6 am. It also contains spoilers for the new 02 movie. There is a brief mention of child death. And it ends with complaints about the timeline and epilogue.
EDIT: This is no longer solid for several reasons, mainly conflicting information in 02 the Beginning, the presentation of clear AU as a theory, and the use of a ship blog as a source. On the first, I had not seen the movie yet (and now have doubts that Lui was really "the first", but that's a theory that basically ends in "Daigo/Maki's group were still first"). On the latter two points, I really should know better, and I apologize.
I have closed notifications due to some rude behavior, so I won't see any updates on this. However, I also deleted the original edit mentioning that since it itself was rude. There's really no reason to leave this up, except I like the idea generally and for archival purposes. If you still wish to read it, it is stored below. Just get ready for 40 year old Lui, lol.
I'll hook you with this- there weren't five Digidestined globally in Maki's time. There were eight.
Tumblr media
This goes off a statement from one of the producers. You can read it all here.
Basically, the number of Digidestined worldwide would double. This ensures everyone would have a Digimon partner by 2027 (aka, the epilogue).
Tumblr media
Doing the math- the number would exceed the global population (approximately 8 billion people) in 2020 (becoming 16,777,216 to be precise- 2019 cuts it close with 8,388,608, but the math is not wrong either way).
The exact statement says this "doubling" occurred from the Parrotmon incident forward. I personally believe that's BS because Willis exists. He receives Gummymon and Kokomon around the same time that the original Botamon spawns. There's also Meiko, Ken, and Ryo (depending on how you interpret the WonderSwan games). Meaning the number of Digidestined is higher than 8, and possibly already doubling.
Let's assume Lui is the first Digidestined. He seems to be around his early 20s (or ages really well- maybe it's Maybelline). Then Daigo and Maki's team came after him. Then Adventure team and so-on.
This all rides around this comment, as there are no official ages for Daigo, Maki, or Lui and we need them. User SharpeBB from With the Will points out the following, which I used as it's the only logical explanation I can find.
Tumblr media
So based on this theory- assuming they were 11/12 when they were chosen, and Maki's age in the flashback is as SharpeBB claims, the original Digidestined would have set out on their mission in 1987 (using the age of 9 as a baseline for reasons I will explain later and computing in Maki's age of 21).
I assume for this theory that Maki was a Digidestined for at least two years prior to losing Tapirmon (referring to the flashback involving the Harmonious Ones). My tri. knowledge is a bit rusty. But since that flashback occurs in the Digital World, I'll have to assume she met Tapirmon in the real world, there was time fuckery similar to Adventure, adults were looking for the members of that team in the Real World, or any combination of the three.
So- 27 (Maki's age) minus 9 (assumed age when first she became a Digidestined) is 18. 18 years before tri. in 2005 was 1987.
There are five of these "original kids"- Daigo, Maki, and three unnamed ones. But you may notice that five is not an even number, nor a multiple of two. The lowest number of Digidestined that must exist globally at that time is eight. This doesn't mean for Maki's team specifically- they could be in another country, like the numerous American Digidestined.
So going backwards- there would be four Digidestined (globally) in 1986, two in 1985, and one (Lui) in 1984.
Tumblr media
Incidentally, Lui was born on a leap year...which 1972 is. Using the baseline of 12 years (based on the above image), he would be 40 in 02 the Beginning. Let's just say he ages well.
So I bet you're tired of BS- let's get to the meat and potatoes. How many Digidestined really exist by the time of Adventure? Well, with 12 years between 1987 (original Digidestined) and 1999...the answer is 32,768.
Remember that not all Digidestined go to the Digital World. Some of this number might have died (we can't rule out "accidents" in the Digital World entirely, nor death via other means). Others might have stayed in the Real World and never went to the Digital World. Still others might have let their inner child- and partner- die (see Kizuna). But given the time gap between Daigo/Maki's team and 1999 alone, I don't think all 32,000+ of them were twiddling their thumbs.
There's more threats out there that we don't know about. There's more dead kids than we can fathom. And worse still, this only accelerates the amount of time until everyone has a Digimon. It would exceed the global population in 2009 with 16,777,216- that same number from the start- three years before 02 the Beginning.
Tumblr media
Yet we can see that this is not the case. Ukkomon's MO is to give everyone a Digimon partner, which the world is not ready for. Recall that the production team claims the worldwide doubling occurred starting with Tai's team. Including those eight and the four outliers I mentioned, everyone would have a Digimon by 2019 (with an estimated 12,582,912 partnerships- this exceeds the global population). In 2012, this number is merely 98,304. Which makes sense for the Ukkomon plot.
So I wasted your time. Except...
I still feel this math doesn't account for things like Daigo/Maki's team and Lui. The producer's math states there are 64 Digidestined globally by 2002. But this cannot be the case as how do the Digidestined from before- or even kids like Willis- factor in? Like, they fit numerically, but how did they find their partners? Why were they chosen? Especially those before 1999, if it all connects to the Botamon in Japan? Also- assuming Lui is as young as he looks (i.e.- around Davis's age) makes Maki older than him...which makes no sense, given the average age someone becomes a Digidestined and her own assumed age.
It makes more sense for Lui to look really good for forty than the entire timeline does if we assume that the doubling began in 1999.
And this is because of two issues. One is "left hand not talking to right hand" throughout the Adventure timeline. There's simply no communication between departments (especially for the WonderSwan games, the canonicity of which is flaky even in my own personal timeline). This has resulted in other plot holes throughout Adventure canon.
Another is a hardcore determination to keep the epilogue canon, despite conflicting elements from tri. on forward. The link at the very beginning attempts to explain the epilogue, yet includes some absolutely bonkers explanations for things like why Matt became an astronaut (basically, there's extraterrestrial threats made in response to digivolution, and the Dark Masters are implied to be one of them, despite actually being linked to Apocalymon- is he also an alien???).
There was supposed to be a season 3 that would have evened out a lot of this (I'm afraid I forgot the link- if someone has it, let me know so I can add it). But we never got it, so the epilogue will never make logical sense. Almost all attempts to canonize it cause batshit lore to enter the chat, or it simply does not mesh with batshit lore from tri. onwards.
Both of these elements cause massive plot holes that make the 1999 doubling pace simply not work. So I'll play with this AU/headcanon some more. Besides, I personally find the idea of Digidestined hiding for decades interesting...
Thanks for surviving to the end!

Edit
Fixed a calculation to include Meiko (forgot her by accident.).

Alright, once again: long post ahead. Here's part 1 of that Anton Shudder hc list I promised. And as last time, @theathefool deserves like 50% of the credit for these since we came up with a lot of them together, especially everything to do with Anton's siblings. This one deals exclusively with his life before joining the sanctuary.
-Anton's parents were both sorcerers, his mother was an adept specializing in linguistics and etymology (or as I like to call it, linguist supreme) and his father was an energy thrower. His mother was a messenger between sanctuaries during the war and that's how his parents met
-His father later moved to Ireland to be with his now wife, but kept fighting in the war
-His mother decided to stay home, she had never much liked fighting or being a part of the war and now she had 4 children to take care of. Her husband tried to spend as much time home with his family as possible though, he loved his wife and kids more than anything
-Anton's the second oldest, he has a twin sister, Iris (who's only older by a few minutes) and two younger sisters, Arnica (2 years younger) and Ivy (5 years younger). Anton's given name was Aspen, they were all named after plants
-He was the closest to Iris. She was the more grounded one, she knew how to talk to people and had realistic goals. Anton, on the other hand, was the opposite of that: quiet and always lost in daydreams
-He also absolutely adored his younger sisters, he would brush their hair and cut apples for them and let them give him weird hairdos
-When he was about 8 years old his father died, killed in the war. His mother's health began declining soon after, her hair started going gray from the grief and she didn't take as good care of herself as before. In the end, all it took was a particularly nasty sickness and she was gone as well
-Afterwards Iris and Anton both started doing odd jobs to support themselves. One thing that Iris would do was give people advice on planting crops and caring for livestock based on things she'd foreseen, which would unfortunately earn them the attention of the forces of Mevolent. She was a child of two Sanctuary members, and very clearly a powerful sensitive even at her young age. It would be easiest to get rid of her
-The two soldiers sent to take care of it never came back, however. When further inquiries were made to the townspeople, they responded with something vague about a wolf attack incident with two local children and two strangers. The children were fine, they assured, but there wasn't really enough left of the strangers to send anywhere and they didn't know where they'd come from, so they just dug them unmarked graves
-Of course, that's not what really happened. There was no wolf, it was the first time Anton summoned his gist-Iris made him swear not to ever do it again as soon as he'd come to, frightened by her brother seemingly getting possessed by some foul entity. The visions she'd had regarding her brother didn't exactly help either, and she might not have gone about it the right way, but she was 11 and scared of losing anyone else
-They didn't go anywhere without all their siblings present after that. Iris couldn't go out alone, and the younger sisters couldn't be left on their own either, so they came with them to town
-To Anton's credit, he kept the promise of not using his gist for as long as he could. He took up sigils and was quite good at it-After about 4 years of relative peace they were attacked once again, severely outnumbered, and Iris was fatally wounded. Anton was forced to use his gist to save Arnica, Ivy and himself
-Anton struggled a lot with the grief, especially knowing that he'd broken his promise to Iris right after she'd died. He became a lot more grounded, and instead of becoming lost in daydreams, he'd spend hours trying to think of how he could've prevented all of it
-This marks the start of a several centuries long battle with depression
-He ended up deciding that the best thing he could do to protect Arnica and Ivy would be to have his sisters go to school and stay there until he'd pick them up, so he could work during the days without worrying about them being all alone
-At this point you already know where this is going. He's 16 years old and comes back from work one stormy day to find his sisters missing. He asks around and everyone is confused: he had come back an hour prior and taken them swimming. He hurries to the river and almost drowns trying to find them, but it's too late, a bystander pulls him out and tells him they'd been found. Both of them had died
-The town was mostly inhabited by sorcerers so when the people he worked with confirmed he'd been at work the whole day, most people accepted that it had probably been a shapeshifter. Anton never knew if his sisters found out it was a shapeshifter or if they thought their older brother had betrayed them, which would haunt him for the rest of his life along with the guilt of not being able to prevent it
-He'd had occasional night terrors his entire life, which got worse after Iris died and became a common occurrence after Arnica and Ivy died
-He also developed a fear of water. Swimming in it is fine but not preferable, but being completely submerged or falling into water are horrible. He dislikes being on ships and whenever he has to go on one he's guaranteed to have a bad time
-Whoever had been in charge of getting rid of him and his siblings had done an absolutely terrible job of it. They might have thought leaving Anton last would've made the job easier, but what they'd actually done is create a horrifically powerful teenager with no regards for personal safety and who now connects anyone allied with Mevolent as an immediate threat to be terminated on sight
-What's worse is that immediately after his sisters' deaths he left with no trace, meaning he could be anywhere
-He had his surge pretty early, settling on the gist. Even when he hadn't been using it, he had been vaguely aware of its existence, so he just gave up and gave in. Besides, with it he actually stood some sort of a chance of making a difference
-After leaving his hometown he decided he was going to either help people by scaring off or even killing those hurting them or die trying
-He has always hated violence, but he never really had a choice on whether to partake in it. It was either that or losing everyone and dying
-I like to think that as a teenager he didn't look anywhere near as threatening, so the way he'd make himself scarier, and also clue people in on his discipline (in hopes they'd be less likely to actually make him fight them) was by darkening his eyelids with like. Soot or something. He did the emo teenager look 400 years before it was cool
-Like he'd just make his eyelids completely black. He had to stop at some point because his eyes started to get irritated, but at that time he probably already looked a bit more threatening
-He met Saracen at age 40, and became his adoptive guardian? Brother? Saracen came from a noble family that got on the bad side of Mevolent's army and were then killed, except for Saracen who was about 10 and was saved from the same fate by Anton. Anton takes him with him because there aren't really any other options
-At first he's looking for someone to take Saracen in instead, but he quickly realizes that while being under his guardianship is dangerous, anyone else would be even more so
-Technically speaking he'd be Saracen's guardian, but they consider each other brothers
-Oh also notice how Anton's sisters were all named after flowers? And how one meaning of the name 'Anton' has to do with flowers? That's right, after Saracen taught him to read he named himself after his dead sisters. Fun fact: rue is also a flower
-Now that he once again had someone to look after, he started taking a bit better care of himself as well, to make sure he'd actually be able to take care of this recently orphaned child he'd suddenly become the guardian of
-Not that he had much of a choice, after a while of traveling together Saracen started to pick up on his unhealthy habits and proceed to annoy the hell out of him until he'd quit. Like refusing to shut up and sleep until Anton went to sleep and such
-Saracen never learned what Anton's past was like, all he knew was that he was weirdly insistant on choosing codewords that only the two of them knew and only answering the door to those who said it
-And that he hated boats, went into a panic whenever Saracen got injured yet had no care for his own wounds and sometimes cried at night when he didn't realize Saracen was still awake
-But their life wasn't all bad, they'd do all kinds of fun things together too, like going on adventures and cooking together
-And Anton was great at coming up with bedtime stories
-The reason why Anton doesn't ask about Saracen's discipline is that when Saracen was younger he saw Anton use his gist and said he wanted to do that too and Anton was just like ",,,,please just choose literally anything else, you don't have to tell me what as long as it's not a gist" and then stuck by that promise
-He probably knows what it is though. He wasn't born yesterday
-Whenever they interacted with mortals they pretended to be brothers, or half brothers if people asked about how different they looked from each other
-Because Anton ages so slowly due to the power and everpresentness of his gist that by the time Saracen was 18, Anton still just looked like a very tired and beat up 20-year old. At one point I did some calculations and decided that in my hc Anton physically ages one year every 12 years
-They end up joining the Sanctuary when Anton's in his late 70s and Saracen is in his early 40s
That's where I'm leaving it for now, this is just the first part because I have so many thoughts about him

Long post - feel free to ignore
The shadow of grief of those lost, especially those before their time, has been part of my family for more than a century.
Not that my uncle's recent passing can be called before his time, he was in his mid 80s, but it was sudden none the less. At this time of year, nine years ago, my nan also passed - at 99 years old, it had been a long life. Often a very hard one, but she met everything with unfailing kindness, generosity and calmness.
Those gone too soon include, my nan's father. Killed in WW1 just two months before my nan was born, his photo remained in her house all her life. There is no grave for him, one of the many whose only memorial is on the Menin gate.
There is my elder half brother, who died as a baby from an undiagnosed heart condition a few years before I was born.
There is my granddad (Dad's Dad) and my father's younger brother who died within months of each other when my dad was just 19.
My Dad himself, gone in his 50's, more than 20 years ago now.
The presence of death, the possibility of it, the threat even, has been something that has been there for my whole life. That death doesn't care for age, young or old can be taken without warning.
With my brother's illness growing up, there always was (and still is) the real chance he could go long before his time as well.
It is the reason why I was home taught - my mother didn't want the risk of me bringing home germs from school to him. We did not mix with other children - there was only the bubble of immediate family in the very small village i grew up in.
My dad couldn't stand it in the end and left. Perhaps it could be said he abdandoned us, but really he couldn't take how my mum wishes to control every aspect of the lives of those around her. She'd already cut him off from his family, had him move miles from anyone he knew to live across the road from her family, changed his job, given up his hobbies. My mum is very much 'if he has me he should want nothing else in his life at all' She is like this with member of the family, if they aren't doing it her way, they are doing it wrong.
She hasn't had a easy life, losing my elder half brother clearly effected her a lot, seeing her other son in and out of hospital as a baby couldn't have been easy.
Yet clearly she sees my brother as a second chance for the son she lost. I'm the one who wasn't really wanted - especially as I got older and looked more like my dad. This is not a guess at her thoughts - there have been many times when she'd told me (but never my brother) that she'd have preferred her eldest son had lived, then I'd never have been born and he life would be better for it.
There is a reason I moved many miles from her.
We lost contact with my dad, only finding out that he'd died more than a month after it happened back in 2002, 3 years after I left home. I don't know where he is buried. If my mum was informed was never passed on.
Perhaps there is something fitting in having gone to work in archaeology at first, still there, surrounded by the memories of the dead. Maybe there is some odd kind of irony in working in pensions now, that they say I'm good on the phones/reception desk when people call/call in to tell us of deaths. (I don't like being on the phones)
I'm not really sure where I'm going with all this. It's perhaps an attempt to get my thoughts into order.
For any fic writers/readers who've made it through this post, perhaps in the hope I might says something relevant to writing, I guess all I can say is that perhaps this is why you won't really find main character death in my fics.
Death is an inevitable consequence of life, none of us are immortal after all, but in fiction I can let them live a little while longer.

Why do you think Asriel said Chara wasn't the greatest person in the Pacifist Route if you go back to the Ruins to see him? I know that some people think that Chara was entirely innocent but I don't think Asriel would say that if Chara didn't have any negative traits. Yes, Chara's not evil and they're not bad either but I think the best way to describe them would be “A flawed, complicated yet kind and hopeful character.”
lol buddy you're speaking the choir here, i've been advocating for people to look at chara with grey morality for years!
here's a post where I talked about my interpretation of Chara at length.
Tumblr media
img text: Young one, when I look at you... I'm reminded of the human that fell here long ago... You have the same feeling of hope in your eyes. There is an ancient prophecy among our people... One day, a savior will come from the heavens. ... I believe the one that was prophecied was you. img text end.
Chara had the same hope in their eyes, Chara truly wanted to free monsterkind. they did wrong, yes, but they were a suicidal child put in a bad situation (freeing monsterkind when a human needed to die, needing 6 more souls). for a game about compassion people tend to lose all of it for a mentally ill kid...
they're good and they're bad. of course they are, they're human.

what i just rant about my Avatar the Last Airbender OC
Micha was born in a fire nation colony full of farmers who were outspoken against the war and because you cant just outright banish like 30 people for disagreeing, they were sent to a colony that was promptly abandoned by the soldiers. She was 9 when the village was wiped out but Earth Kingdom mercenaries dressed as soldiers on the day of her village's harvest festival, and the day after her little brother was born. She buried every member of the village then marched all the way to Ba Sing Se over the course of a year, arriving during the later part of Iroh's Siege of the Earth Kingdom Capital. Lu Ten picked her up from the battlefield and he and Iroh decided they'd let her stay until they returned to the Fire Nation. Her year trek to the capital had instilled a knack for fighting so she did her best to help during the battles until Lu Ten died. Iroh sent her back to the Fire Nation with his letters breaking the bad news with a note for Queen Ursa that he wanted to put the girl to work as a bodyguard/companion for Zuko, knowing his nephew didn't have any friends to confide in.
Zuko of course wasn't too happy about being assigned someone only a year older than him as a bodyguard, but it didn't take long for the two of them to become good friends, sneaking out to explore the city or to a tree that sat on a hill overlooking the Fire Nation Capital. They spent many evenings at that tree, especially after Ursa vanished. Ozai, who had initially been against having some colony farmer girl in the palace at all, made a deal with Micah that if she kept Zuko out of his sight, she could continue to be his bodyguard. So she kept Zuko busy; they practiced fire bending together, spent most of their free time together slipping out of the palace to explore the capital or around the palace kitchen to sneak treats.
When Zuko was banished, a handful of Ozai's Generals approached Micah with offers of sponsoring her into military school, with promises of high rankings when she graduated, praising her loyalty. What they didn't know was her loyalty wasn't to the nation but to Zuko, so she turned the offers down and followed Zuko and Iroh into their hunt for the Avatar.
When they were in Ba Sing Se years later, during the "Episode of" time period, Micah would admit to Zuko that she had feelings for him and probably had for awhile, thought she wasn't too sure of herself. The only reason she hadn't said before was because she was aware of his feelings for Mai but with how it seemed their lives were changing to something peaceful, she wanted to be truthful with him, with the addition that she just wanted to be honest with him, with no intention of it changing things between them if he didn't feel the same.
There was hardly time to dwell as Azula would show up to Siege the city only days later, but the feelings would linger even as Micah expressed disappointment in Zuko for aiding his sister with defeating the Avatar and followed Iroh into prison for betraying the orders of the royal family. She'd escape with Iroh but turn back for Zuko and go with him to join Team Avatar.
She'd leave the Fire Nation on the day of Zuko's coronation, leaving only a letter for Zuko that she had a promise to fulfill and would return after her own journey of self discovery.
She'd return to her old colony to rebuild it into a place free from the scars of the war, only to discover refugees of the war had already settled in, rebuilding the old houses and even caring for the makeshift graveyard in the hopes a survivor of what had happened would return to help them put names to each grave. Micah would be grateful to the people of the village for the care they put into rebuilding, nostalgia for a home she thought she'd never see again as she settled into helping with the village. She'd keep her fire bending a secret for a time before coming clean to explain the history of the village to the new residents, from how it was founded as a colony of forgotten farmers to how they were silenced by mercenaries who discovered the hidden fire nation memorabilia they kept on the chance Fire Nation soldiers would ever return and the lone person who lived long enough to ask her to not hate the whole nation for the actions of so few.
Some would be wary, others would remain open but she would continue to help the village until the literal ghosts of her family pestered her into moving on. The world had changed and they wanted her to see it.

Country songs about women killing their shitty husbands and janky RPG Maker horror games with abused little girl protagonists where the Good Ending route culminates in killing her shitty father may not be the same species of media, but you could probably make a solid argument that they're close cousins.

de-aged Danny is one of my babies,
Shit hits the fan with the giw and Danny is super injured and Clockwork has to mess with some things so Danny doesn’t return to his core being vulnerable and sends him millions of miles away to Gotham and in the process Danny becomes 6/10 years old and is weeks healed due to being smaller and costing less ectoplasm but is still achy, Danny is steered to Jason’s apartment where he just got off his shift and then his is the twist! Jason is mute due to an accident with the joker and Batman (batman unintentionally causing his muteness) and out of reflex of a child on his counter hand first into a box of Cheerios let’s put a exasperated noise of flames and a lighter and Danny responds with his own spark of electricity and Jason is shocked (hehe) that Danny can understand and even communicate can he just lets out everything he’s been doing since “holy shit I can talk to someone normally” and then he realizes this child has the same scar as him and is pissed but Danny calms him down and calms the pits and he’s like “okay you’re mine now shit- I’m like Bruce- no. I’ll think about this later-“ Danny is super cute and Jason is having a field day with parent hood and Jason gives Danny a comm for when he goes out but he’s only allowed to speak in ghost speak and the rest are confused when Jason sprints away and they follow to see Danny in Jason’s arms being lulled to sleep with a man on the ground knocked out or dead who knows not Jason because it was shoot & punch and ask questions later and then Danny says sleepily “Oh your daddy’s brothers, hi” like it’s normal to meet family in this situation and Jason puts him to bed before signing “Say anything to Bruce and you will never be called uncle or attend his birthday in your life.”
Bruce only finds out when Jason some how ends up super injured and can’t sign and Danny translates (no editing just straight he said fucking hell) and introduces himself as Danny Todd, Bruce privately cried a little
The Waynes knew that Jason had become far more distant since his accident. Bruce blamed himself, but in the end, it was Joker all over again.
The family had been on other missions when a distress call from Bruce came in. They all raced to give aid- if it was Bruce calling, then you know it was a huge deal- only to find their father figure pressing his hands desperately to the neck of a bleeding Jason.
The Joker had sliced his neck in one of his sick games.
They were able to get him to medical aid and save his life, but the damage to his vocal cords had been too severe. Jason would never be able to speak again.
Since then, Jason has kept his distance. The whole family was fluent in sign language- one of the first of many languages Bruce had them learn for their Bat training- but it only helped them if Jason wanted to sign around them.
It felt like the second oldest was actively trying to avoid the acknowledgment of his injury. Little by little, Jason began to drift away from the family. He no longer arrived early for family dinners to help Alfred cook, he did not say for games or movies afterward, he found excuses to not hang out with the family members, and even after patrol, he left as soon as he finished.
Even texts were becoming less and less frequent. The Wayne children attempt to surprise visit him just so they can make sure he isn't alone until Jason starts jumping between safe houses.
Jason is isolating himself, and the Waynes are alarmed by the way he is retreating into himself. This continued for months, and nothing they did worked to help him.
Despite the desperate attempts to connect to him, Jason was too far gone to be reached. He did not die, but they lost him all the same.
Then, one day, out of the blue, Jason's distance changed. Yes, he was still not coming around the family much, but the sadness on his shoulders loosened.
His demeanor was still tired, but not as if his soul was exhausted. He still ran off after patrol, but instead of a shameful shuffle, his stride was more excited.
No one knew why, but Wyanes breathed a sigh of relief at the change.
They also had some theories.
"He has a lover!" Dick exclaims after watching Jason run off the second Bruce dismisses them. He had stopped to clean himself up a little before riding out as Jason, the civilian. "He's going to go get ready for a hot date."
"He found a new book series." Duke offered as Jason seemed to be writing in a little notebook. He was thoughtful and dazed as he wrote like whatever notes he took were something he would revisit again. "He is writing fanfiction again."
"His crime empire is being threatened, so he is slowly picking off traitors," Tim proposed after seeing Jason upgrade his security to his home and safe houses. He even added a new line to the cons so that he could listen to his home like a Bat version of a baby monitor. "Doing it quick and quietly to not let them escape."
"He is going back to school!" Steph announced happily when she saw him at the store buying school supplies. "He can finally get that diploma he has always wanted!"
"He has found a new passion for a hobby," Damian countered after seeing Jason look over his old art easel. Jason had asked Damian what he recommended for a beginner. "It's allowing him to have an outlet in a creative, healthy manner."
"He has fallen for a book character again and can't tell the difference between reality and Fiction." Bruce fretted after seeing Jason chuckle to himself at post-it notes that had little hearts in his lunch box. They were signed by Jason's favorite characters in a writing that was reasonably similar to Jason's.
Cass only smiled knowingly, but she always seemed to know more of what was happening than the rest, no matter the situation.
The only other person who knew more than her was Alfred, but that man would never share secrets with anyone for any reason.
Jason seemed unaware of their theories or concerns (Bruce) since he was always busy doing whatever he was doing. It got to the point they decided to follow him about, only becoming more confused when Jason visited places like pre-schools and kid-friendly parks around the city.
It didn't help that Jason caught on to the fact he was being followed, leading the Bats all over the city to random locations and had them fumbling about what was a natural destination and what was retaliation for the trailing.
Then, one night, while the Bats were meeting up on a rooftop for some briefing and a breather, the new con line sprung to life, scaring everyone connected to it out of their skins.
"There is a strange man in the house!" A voice screeched. A young voice, one that didn't even sound like it belonged to someone who had reached their double digits.
At once, Jason jumped from his slouched-over position near the building's roof door and flung himself over the edge. His grabbing hook hissed as the large man threw himself across the rooftops frantically.
Stunned, the Bats watched him go, unsure of what was happening, until the young voice spoke again, a soft whisper. "He is in the hall- he has a knife."
A strange crackle of fire and electricity was heard over the con, and it took them all a moment to realize that it had come from Jason. The child- a boy based on the voice- responded with a slight tremble. "I'm hiding in my closet. I'm scared."
The words of a distressed child kickstart their brains, and everyone snaps to attention.
"Oracle, where is the signal originating from?" Bruce snaps, throwing himself over the edge to follow Jason. The rest of the family is right behind him.
"Jason's safe house in Uptown Gotham," Babs responds instantly with the accompanying clicking of her keyboard. She sucks a breath through her teeth in a pained hiss. "B, the address for Jason's safe house... it's connected to Upper Smiles Preschool for Danny Todd. Jason is marked as his father."
There is ice in everyone's veins when she says that as Danny- Jason's son- lets out a choked sob, then a scream that horrifies everyone as they try to run faster. "He found me! Help! Help! Daddy! Help!"
A boom goes off across the communicator, and they know Jason is responsible for the nose, but there is no explosion. Not that it matters.
They, too, understand what Jason meant by the strange noise he made- it's a protective rage that someone would dare to even think of harming one of their own.
Every Wayne pushes themselves past their limits, unwilling to let themselves be too late.
"Hold on, sweetheart, help is on the way. Hit him with anything around you until it gets there." Babs tells him, her voice cracking as Danny cries, and a man yelling can be heard.
"You little shit!" An unknown roars, and everyone hates him instantly. "I'll teach you some fucking manners!"
"Let me go! Let me go!"
They are ten minutes out even when they drop into the batmobile and company bikes. Jason is only eight. But every second feels like a lifetime as they listen to what Danny is going through.
There are sounds of struggles, of a tiny voice screaming and crying, then- gunshots.
Two loud and clear gunshots. Then silence, the kind that makes even a grave loud.
Bruce's grip on the steering wheel tightens to the point of pain, and everyone is in no better state. The silence over the con is just as devastating as Jason's mournful crackle, like a dying fire.
No. No gods, no, please don't let this mean Danny is-
"Not to worry, dear child, I am here." Alfred's warm, soothing voice is heard, and everyone almost collapses in relief. Danny's cries are muffled like his face is pressed against something as Alfred coos. "It's alright. It's alright, you're safe now. Shh"
Jason makes a sound similar to thunder.
"Yes, Master Jason, I was in the neighborhood. I wanted to bring my great-grandson a little present and saw this healthen mucking about where he does not belong. I shall be moving Danny to the manor."
It's a command that does not allow any arguing, but no one dares to say anything as they collectively change direction to the manor. Patrol for the night has been canceled.
They had a new little addition to the family that needed them more than ever. Now that they knew about him, they would never allow Jason to keep Danny away from them.
Later in the night, after hugs, kisses, and greetings, Danny is painting alongside Damian. He standing on a small stool to reach the easel, wearing an apron with the Batman symbol, and is smiling like there are no troubles in the world.
Everyone's heart melts when he asks them if they can sit still for him to paint a family portrait. He isn't Jason's by blood, but that has hardly mattered to a family such as the Waynes.
All they need to know is that Danny was found wandering around Jason's old safe house, speaking in the strange sounds that Jason could make, and was the cause for the second oldest to regain his joy of life.
All that mattered was that tiny, little six-year-old Danny Todd was one of theirs, and they would love him with all their hearts.

Magicians way [part 1]
.・゜-: ✧ :-
It's not often that he finds himself in such position, but it does happen.
John Constantine never would have thought he'd scratch the "tied up by a cult to be used as sacrifice to summon a powerful ghost" spot on his bingo card.
He doesn't even feel threatened by the cult, hell, all he will receive from this day is pure embarrassment if the summoning circle is really the one he thinks it is.
Great, it's glowing.
Little bastard knows and is on his way here.
Shit.
"Oh all mighty King of Ghosts! We summon thee! Appear!"
If he has to listen to that badly scripted American movie summoning ritual one more word, he's gonna do some serious damage.
The circle lights up in sickly green, the ectoplasm flooding the insides of the portal as it opens.
And there he stands, the boyprince of the Infinity Realms.
"Hey, dad!" The being greets, swinging a swift fist against one of the cultist.
The rest are frozen and now that they're alone John sees the shit eating grin on the gremlins face.
"Danny." He greets back, watching as his kid swipes some invisible dust from his hat and putting it on back.
"Man, this is so embarrassing for you. Let me just—"
To make matters worse, Danny pulls out his bloody smartphone and takes a picture of him tied up.
"I'm sending this to mom." He's fiddling with the rope, smug smirk on him that John would love to flip off if his hands weren't bound.
"Useless..."
Ah, here comes the blackmail. A kids after his own heart.
The little shit.

Visual picture of Constantine being embarrassed. (Yes, he's tied up with a RED RIBBON for funnsies.)

What are the main things different between canon and the au? Also I hope you recover well :)
Thank you!
Well, for starters, everyone ages normally in the AU. I'm not sure if there's magic, but if there is it's common knowledge and not as strong. Death, however, operates like a big company minus the profit aspect. There's office workers and there's catchers (Who catch the souls of people who died suddenly) and guides (Who guide the souls of those with slower deaths).
Oh also, Anton Shudder is dead. He dies at like age 13 along with his family. Turns out he would have survived but a catcher did an oopsie daisy and took his soul as well. As compensation He gets a contract to be a guide for 13 years, after which he can just. Go back to being alive? Yeah. He ages even when dead because he's not like. Fully dead. He never goes to the afterlife He just exists in a limbo. Cue to lots of people being guided to the afterlife by a goth teenager.
The biggest difference is that at least at the start of the AU Larrikin has no friends. He's 12 and just moved to a new place due to his mother's job at a local hospice. He ends up befriending Anton by chance during the brief time period he gets to spend in the living world after guiding a soul.
Oh and Skulduggery still ends up becoming a skeleton, either his soul gets brought back by Tenebrae through magic or another catcher makes a mistake and his soul accidentally returns to his body. This happens when he's already in his early twenties with a family. Larrikin has a tiny moment of existential horror over being friends with not one but two people who got separated from their families and had their lives screwed up by death errors.
That's like the basics, I genuinely do not think I could have come up with this in any circumstances other than while unconcious with pieces missing from my brain. Like. There's barely enough Canon in here to even qualify it as a sp au instead of just a random story about random people. It's basically a very morbid romcom

⊹ ‧₊˚ ᰔ synopsis. breaking up because he wants to keep you safe, right person wrong time, cw. angst, he's lying to you, break up, mentions of death, gn! reader
what if childe doesn't want to break up with you, yet he's also aware that someone being close to a harbinger was way too dangerous, keeping you as his significant other would be a death sentence for you— his enemies are countless, he doesn't fear them but you should. what if he cannot protect you? aside from that, even within the fatui, he cannot trust a single individual.
who knows if somebody was actually able to find out about your secret relationship and use it in order to force childe into doing something? blackmail him or threatening to hurt you if he doesn't comply? can he even come to your rescue then? just thinking about you dying in front of him makes him want to fall asleep and never wake up.
after he went through those multiple concerns spreading inside his head, trying his hardest to find a solution, or, an answer. childe ultimately decided to break up with you— of course, in order to protect you.
but what's worse than that is that the harbinger was aware that, if he was to say it's due to "keeping you safe" you wouldn't accept it and would probably change his mind.
the thought alone of you looking at him with those eyes of yours, with droplets of tears hanging from your lashes, childe would fall to his knees immediately and admit defeat.
what does he do then?
you see, he's lying, lying that he's fallen out of love with you, that there was someone else he's fallen for yet that person wasn't you anymore.
he doesn't feel anything when he looks at you. no love, no future, he doesn't want to touch nor feel you, hear or see you.
saying those words out loud, precisely to your face actually broke his heart into a million pieces.
childe thinks he's numb now, and his colleagues were already talking about how weidly ruthless he's gotten over the past weeks— more pitiless and bloodthirsty than before, like he's lost a part of himself after he's lost you, after he pretended like he cheated on you so you would let him go.
childe doesn't care anymore, you were the one reminding him of his humanity, but with you gone, what even was humanity to him?
he doesn't mind that you hate him now, to him it means that you'll never come anywhere near him anymore, he's succeeded with his plan on keeping you protected from harm— meaning, that you're finally safe now.
