I didn't really know what an Auctober was and I saw people participating, but since everyone's talking about their collections I wanna talk about mine too!

For some strange reason, I have a collection of smooth rocks. Not ones with sharp edges or rough surfaces. The smoothest rocks I can pick up. The pile overflowed from the little cup I put them in, but I can't bear to move them at the moment. While this collection is one of the more passive ones, I have another that lights me up inside and out whenever I get the chance:

Mugs.

I got a custom mug with my name on it, a special edition Harry Potter 3D heating mug, a Disney vintage mug, a Kiki's Delivery Service teacup and saucer (not a mug, but I love it), a Purple Hyacinth mug with my favorite character on it, a Vox Machina mug, and a lot more than that.

I love mugs so much I can't even begin to start. I've had to stop actively buying them and searching for them because then I wouldn't have room, but I love every single one of my mugs and try to use them so they don't feel neglected. Most of them are souvenirs from locations I've been to like museums, exhibits, places, and things like that. In fact, when one of my mugs shattered, I literally broke down sobbing because I felt like I watched a friend die. When people buy me mugs as gifts, I literally cannot contain myself and I will smile and grin and start rocking back and forth because they knew I liked mugs and bought one for me with that in mind! In short, all you need to know is that:

I. Love. Mugs.

i love the idea of the batfam wearing each other's merch cause like. i know they'd be petty about it. usually they'd wear their siblings merch in (kinda) equal rotations, but they'd change it up depending on sibling squabbles or sibling favours. Tim, walking into the kitchen in a Red Hood shirt: Dick: TIM!? Tim: what Dick: it's Tuesday. you always wear Nightwing merch on Tuesdays. Tim: oh. Tim: you stole my last granola bar, last week. hobby crafts and great and everyone should get into a hobby craft, but I really really really really need people to do at least a little bit of research into what they’re interested in and learn important things such as that fact that polymer clay, air-dry clay, and resin are NOT food safe. yes that includes clay that’s been coated in a clear coat like mod podge (the dishwasher safe mod podge is not food safe)

the reason that some* ceramics are food safe is because glazes melt into essentially a thin layer of glass on the surface, and the clay is heated to a temperature that vitrifies it. and I say some because not all ceramics/glazes/firing temps are food safe, and that’s a whole other deep dive of research for people who get into ceramics. but the point is that most people can’t do that at home, so they look into non-ceramic materials and assume that’s a cheaper and easier way to make food-safe items, when really what’s going to happen is all these materials will leach into your food, especially with heat applied

also can resin creators wear proper PPE with gloves and respirator, I am begging you, that shit is toxic to touch and inhale
