I spent the last five hours on colouring this lineart I did yesterday, and it was fun! I had forgotten how much fun I got out of drawing before...

Fanart ireally is the best way to get out of art blocks.

Becoming an adult is when you stop hating Sakura, realize she's been done dirty by canon all along, and just decide to stick to whatever you think the best fanon adaptation is. Mine is slightly unhinged and uses senbon.

I feel like I used to be more original in the clothing departement, but I guess for now I'll have to go with a slightly modified version of a mixture of her uniforms. Don't think too hard on how the fabric of her dress works, I have no idea myself. I spent way to much time on her tattoo, haha.

Pose was very very much inspired by an @adorkastock low angle pose which I felt really strongly about.

So I've been stuck in a Naruto phase for some months, and been re-reading all my favourite fanfics. Here's a fanart sketch based on @themidnightguardian 's one called "Teenagers scare the living shit out of me" (chapter 1, first scene specifically) which I come back to quite often, because it's relatively short, funny and has the slightly unhinged quality I love to find in time-travel AUs. It's really hard to draw kids, actually.

At this point I'm hunting down every single drop of motivation like a blood hound and trying to pick back up the many unfinished sketches I have lying around in my folders. That one is from my last Lord of the Rings period, and very much in the "what if every single character in LotR was a person of color" area of it. I have entire folders of hair style references on that file, so at least even if my style has changed since then, I can pick it up again.

Someone at the Adobe headquarters put in extra hours to bar all those nasty thieves from using their overpriced software without paying (yohoho), so I finally went and bought Clip Paint Studio, because Photopea is a really great tool in a pinch, but it does lag a lot, sadly.

And instead of having a look at all their nice tutorials, I just dived straight in and tried sketching something while pressing all the buttons ans seeing what happens. For some reason it turned into a fanart of Sakura Haruno from Naruto. Well, I've been reading a lot of Naruto fanfiction in the past weeks...

Dumb instagram/tiktok/whatever filters are literally the one and only reason this picture came into existence, and the joke lost some of it's shine over the past two years it took for me to finish it. I think the thing I was going for was "Lord of the Rings characters, Ghibli art style style, dumb selfie pose with cutesy Instagram filter" which might have been a bit much.

Anyway, here it is & I spent wayyyyyy to much time on the dark background for the amount of it you can actually see, haha

Good job leading that ship onto the rocks, high-five! 

That’s was a fun project I got myself into on a self-dare. The title comes from that tiny tiny figure on the lighthouse getting a high-five from the Chtulhu-like creature. Sadly this picture was a victim of the 2017 computer crash that caused the loss of several of my original HD files, so the zoom-ins (old WIP screenshots I had made and posted on instagram) are the last proof of this even being the case.

@swilliam_simplet 's character, a good-hearted dwarf scholar, who's a bit of a mage and a lot of a story-teller. He likes a good drink, his comfort, and also bears.

Finally, something I did. After letting the sketched version gather dust in a folder for a few weeks, I had a sudden boost of energy and finished it rather quickly in one sitting last night. Imagine me muttering “laugh you damn bear, no, not like that, that’s terrifying” for at least one hour.

Link has had some hard days. He's tired and needs some rest. I was originally going for a sad-ish melancholic (exhausted) look at the peaceful night sky, with a nice campfire and a crown of 'silent princess' flowers. And even a nice skewer of meat. And then I remembered that those flowers were supposed to be endangered, so Zelda probably would not appreciate this kind of vandalism, which is why I put Link down in a field of those flowers instead. So I un-endangered them instead, yeah! The red slightly menacing clouds happened on accident, so now Link is purposely turning his back to Hyrule castle/the main quest. They have stuff to do, like pick mushrooms and decorate their house with novelty bows. Drawing braid without references is hard! Also they look like every fucking Naruto I've ever drawn, it's a nightmare. I'll never ever be rid of the 'tan, blonde, blue-eyed fanon Naruto', he'll just take over each of my characters until I die.
