Ever since the four syllables left Harry’s lips, he’s felt nothing but guilt, remorse, self-hatred.

It was a surreal sight, Malfoy on the bathroom floor, bleeding out in front of him. The first few seconds, he’d been rooted to the spot, staring as bright red seeped through perfect white fabric.

It was the sounds of agony falling from Malfoy’s lips that had snapped him out of it. In a beat, he was hovering over him, hands on his chest as he tried to staunch the bleeding. He remembers cursing under his breath, yelling for help, his dad and Moony finding them.

Remus had wasted no time, jumping to Malfoy’s aid and performing every healing spell he knew in an attempt to fix the damage Harry had done. Meanwhile, Regulus was forcefully dragging him away from the wounded boy, asking a hundred questions at once. Harry hadn’t been able to answer any of them until Malfoy was in the hospital wing and his other dad had been summoned to the Headmaster’s office.

He’d never seen his parents quite as pale. They held hands the entire time, James rubbing his thumb over Regulus’ knuckles in a rather futile attempt to soothe him. By the end of their conversation, Harry had managed to convince them he hadn’t known what the spell did. Nothing had been more important to him. He needed them to know he hadn’t hurt Malfoy like that on purpose.

He doesn’t think his dads are angry with him, but they are upset. Harry can hardly blame them.

After over an hour of talking, apologising profusely and receiving a term worth of detentions, James presses a kiss to his forehead, tells him he loves him, and orders him to go and rest.

Harry does as he’s told, but glances over his shoulder before disappearing behind the corner. He’s sure he’s never going to forget what he sees; Regulus slumped over in James’ arms, leaning heavily against him as his husband caresses the back of his neck as he whispers what Harry presumes were comforting words.

Harry’s heart clenches. If only he had a time-turner to fix this mess.

That night, he sneaks out of his bed, Invisibility Cloak wrapped around himself. When he enters the hospital wing, all beds are empty except for one. He walks up to it and instantly feels nauseous when he looks down at a sleeping Malfoy, his chest wrapped up in an insane amount bandages.

But he’s breathing.

Harry watches the rise and fall of his chest over and over, until he too feels like he can breathe again.

Prompt 20 - Manegro Potion

The Marauders had always been pranksters. Even before they’d started calling themselves Marauders. But since Sirius and Remus had gotten together, the pranking had escalated. It was as if their being together had opened up a new pranking platform.

Today’s prank involved a vast amount of Manegro Potion that Sirius had charmed the House Elves out of the way so Remus could pour the potion into the barrels of Pumpkin Juice and all the tea and coffee pots. They’d even put it in the water pitchers and placed a glamour over them so they appeared empty. It was going to be massive.

Remus, Sirius, James and Peter watched with glee on their faces as the entire school, including the professors, all enjoyed their breakfasts and drank their beverages.

It started slowly. Emmeline Vance’s ponytail grew from halfway down her back to the edge of the bench. Gideon and Fabian Prewett grew matching mullets, and Marlene's fringe snuck down into her eyes.

Soon, the entire school was sprouting hair at an alarming rate. Snape’s greasy locks looked even more like curtains as his hair grew down to his waist. Dumbledore looked like a yeti as his already long hair and beard flowed across the floor.

Remus jabbed Sirius’s side and pointed at the Slytherin table, where Regulus sat in horror as his hair grew to the same length as Sirius’s.

“Ha, mini Sirius!” James barked out loud enough for Regulus to hear him, and pure rage covered his face. Sirius didn’t find it funny either and sulked until he saw Peter lift a glass of water to his lips.

“PETER!” But too late. Peter drank the potion.

“What? What?” He squeaked as his sandy hair grew from his head.

“Peter, we did say not to drink anything at breakfast.” Remus shook his head at his friend.

“Oops,” Peter blushed as his face disappeared under his mop of hair.

Sirius snuggled into Remus’s side.

“Remus, my love. I think we have outdone ourselves.” He sighed happily as they observed the chaos they had caused.

“SIRIUS BLACK, REMUS LUPIN!!! DETENTION!!! ONE WEEK!!!!” They flinched as Professor McGonagall screamed at them as she hurriedly undid the rapidly expanding neat bun at the back of her head before the weight of it caused neck damage.

They turned to James, wondering why he hadn’t been given detention as well and nearly fell off the bench as they laughed uncontrollably. James, feeling left out, had drunk the potion-laced pumpkin juice and currently, his thick, messy, black hair was growing straight up and showing no signs of falling. Sirius and Remus looked at each other, tears of joy spilling from their eyes as they silently decided that the week of detention had been worth it just to see James’s two-foot-tall tower of hair.

Okay, but can we talk about how Marauders fans have questionable things? Example: They hate Snape but love Regulus, Evan, Barty. The cules are much worse than severus

Or that they say that Snape's friends are bad, when the marauders were too. Another example: Lily and Remus said that James liked to practice spells on children

The Marauders were not self-centered: Yes, they were. No matter how much they doubt it, they were.

"Regulus has a better story than Snape" No, he doesn't. He's just a Death Eater and he died, he has no history.

"James changed" James I don't even think he would have changed, he did everything for Lily not by his will. And I'm sure he would have continued to bother Snape if he were alive. Example: Sirius was still bothering Snape as an adult, Sirius and James are the same shit. What makes you think James changed?

"Severus deserved everything the Marauders and his father did to him" yes, I've also seen those comments on TikTok. That's disgusting, really disgusting.

"Lily didn't even laugh at Snape's joke." I know, but I was going to do it. In the books you can see how Lily almost laughs or smiles. He is your friend and maybe in such a situation you don't laugh or you just say stop. You intervene!

Severus and Regulus platonic relationship headcanons

Severus obviously didn't like Regulus at first sight because he was Sirius's little brother, so he kept his distance until Regulus got curious about him

Severus tried to scare him off with threats and such, but it never worked on Regulus, for he recognized what he was doing and just followed him everywhere since him and Sirius were getting distant.

Severus was very confused at why the young Black was following him around and bothering him and just thought it was Sirius's doing of some sort.

After Severus first tutored the young Black, he became less and less "unbearable" to Severus, and they started hanging out casually.

Sirius obviously got jealous of his brothers relationship with "snivellus" and hated how they were close, and Regulus had this look on him every time he was with Severus which was similar to when they were kids.

Sirius tried to wreck the friendship between his little brother and Severus, but Regulus always stood up to Sirius, and if things got too intense, Severus would intervene to stop the two brothers from taking it too far.

Regulus would write to Severus all the time over break

Regulus even invites Severus over to his home (Walburga did not like it, but Orion surpsingly approved since Regulus and Narcissa speak highly of Severus)

Severus shares his original spells and potion creation with Regulus, and he even introduced Reggie to some muggle things.

Severus and Regulus did kiss once due to a truth or dare game in house Slytherin (It was awkward for the both of them), and after that, they decided to remain friends

Severus would go to Regulus's quidditch games, which started when the young Black begged severus to come watch him play, after countless days of begging, he caved but he said he's going to "support his house," but he loved watching Regulus play and congratulates and cheers him on (in the inside) every game

Severus and Reggie became close like brothers over the years, and they love each other like brother.

Severus became the brother Reg needed, and Reg became the brother Severus wanted

Severus stuck by Reg through the death eaters.

When Severus found out what Regulus was going to do. He immediately tried to stop it and managed to save his life (I'm in denial)

Severus and Regulus watched over each other and Severus helped Regulus fake his own death until it was time to make his reveal

However, if he was too late, severus would be heartbroken but would avenge his fallen brother.

Severus updates Regulus on everything that happens at hogwarts and at both death eater and Phoenix order meetings.

Helps the black brothers reunite and gets them to miraculously talk

Regulus survives his trip to the lake and ends up teaching at Hogwarts, but he's never quite the same and is still haunted by what happened there, even years later. Not as much of a fix-it fic as you might assume given the premise, but I adore angst and tragedy, so I very much enjoyed it. All the fics in the series are really good, but my favorite is God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs, a bittersweet Christmas fic featuring the Tonks family.

Can you just imagine how entranced James Potter would be by matchsticks? Like ‘yes Remus I know that I can just use a spell but this is a different kind of magic’ and he would sit there and just light like half the box just scraping the sticks and giggling to himself, and the fire would reflect in his eyes, before Lily took them off him because he could injure someone with those, but had to fight to keep herself from falling into laughter because James is just so entranced
