Summary:

It’s been a year now, since you were accepted into U.A. University’s Support Course, and nine months since you started working with the hero course. It was only a matter of time right, as Recovery Girls new apprentice? If only love was as easy as college.

Sero sat there in the chair, hunched over the bed with his head in his arms. He was fast asleep, just like you. After a while, the monitors calm beating became a source of comfort, almost like a soothing lullaby. After three days by your side, and no sleep it was the best he could use. 

You father laid on the small sofa, a blanket haphazardly thrown over his lap while he typed away on his computer, the tv in the background on so low that the monitor was almost being projected in a megaphone. He hated to watch tv with subtitles, but in this case he was thankful for it. It helped keep him busy. 

Every couple of hours, the nurses would come in to check on you, Sero would wake up just long enough for them to do their thing and to go get a snack from the cafeteria or a vending machine. Even then he wasn’t gone more than fifteen minutes at a time. 

“You should take some time to properly eat.” You father spoke without removing his eyes from the computer just as Sero was about to leave. The ravonette stopped and turned, giving your father a slight smile. 

“You’re right sir, I just don’t like to be away from her for too long.” He rubbed the back of his head, “to much anxiety I guess.”

“You’re welcome to bring the food down here, just have them charge it to the room. Don’t worry about the cost, just don’t get anything you won’t finish.” Your father shut the laptop and stood, placing his hands on Sero’s shoulders and leaning over just a bit. “I don’t know how to express my gratitude to you, for caring so much about my daughter. I wish you weren’t missing school for this though.” 

Sero gave him another weak smile, “It’s okay, Mr. LN. She’s my best friend, I wouldn’t feel so good about leaving her here like this without me.” 

“Does she not any another friends? I thought she was doing so well.” He frowned.

“No sir, she’s got plenty of friends. They’re always texting me and asking for updates, even other students in and out of the class. She’s kind, smart, courageous and pretty so everyone loves her.” He looked back at you, a little to fondly that his father noticed.

“So you’re not the boyfriend I’ve heard so much about?” 

Sero could have snapped right there if it wasn’t your father he was talking too. He saw the whole thing, he saw Sora break down and basically admit she had used her quirk on him, so why was Sero still so mad at Monoma? “No. I’m not.” 

“Who is he?”

“His name is Monoma, Neito. He’s my rival class. I’m not sure why she likes him, he’s annoying, arrogant, insecure, and just a pain in the ass to deal with.”

“Is he like that with her though?” Oh. He guessed not. “Does he treat her different than with the others he’s around?”

“Yeah. He does.”

“How so?” Your father took Sero to sit down, you were still fast asleep. 

“He’s so kind and gentle with her, always thinking of her. He hates us, but he is willing to put it away for the most part and spend time with us so she doesn’t have to have her time spent between the two groups. He’s quiet with her vs always being loud with us.” 

“As he should.” Your father looked out the glass to see a blonde boy, pacing outside the door. The same boy who had been there on and off for days. “Is that him?”

“Yeah. I’m sure you’ve seen him when you step out. Always close by. The only time he hasn’t been outside the door is when he has to report to the teachers.”

“Why don’t you go ahead and get food, and then when you feel up for it have him join us. I’d like to talk to him.”

Monoma stood there in front of the closed door, Sero stared him down and her father sat on the sofa. However his eyes couldn’t stay off of you, you looked so beautiful as you slept like that, it broke his heart thinking he couldn’t protect you. The IV bag was almost gone, there were some slightly bloody bandages on the tray, guessing that you were still having some issues. 

“Monoma, right?” Your father started, bringing the blondes attention to him. Monoma nodded, letting go of a breath he was holding when your father gestured for Monoma to go to you. Sero took a step back to sit on the couch while Monoma sat in the chair next to you, holding your hand between his and kissing your knuckles. “Care to explain?”

“I wasn’t strong enough. I fell for-”

“No son...” your father interrupted him, with a smile. “Explain to me what it is about my daughter with you.” Monoma had then noticed what kind eyes your father had, and he wished they’d met on better circumstances. 

“She’s just- so wonderful.” Monoma started, “She has gone through so much but she still shines so bright. You’re daughter treated me with kindness and respect from the moment we met, no matter how loud or obnoxious or an asshole I was being around everyone. It was so easy to be different with her and she accepted me at my worst and by best.”

“All the best reasons. How long had you been dating before you got together?”

“Not long actually.” Monoma admitted, looking to your father and still holding your hands. “We’d had a few interactions, and a couple projects together. I not anything to pursue asking her out on my own. I didn’t feel like I'd be good enough for her.”

“What changed your mind?”

“Two things, sir.” he looked back at you, “my friends knew she liked me back, and they encouraged me to make a move. so I reached out to her, asked her on a date. I was so surprised she said yes.” 

“How did you guys become a couple?” 

“I’d spent several days asking myself why she agreed to go out with me. I’m sure you’ve heard not so nice things about me, but still, she knew and she had seen first hand but yet, she really chose me. A week after our first date, I asked Sero to bring her to the courtyard. I gave her a bouquet of some of her favorite things, and went out with her and her friends again that night.”

“The ones that didn’t like you?” Your father jokingly pointed to Sero, all three of them shared a chuckle. 

“Correct.” Monoma stood, giving you a kiss on your cheek before continuing. “Her friends, weren’t that bad. I had fun with them, and she was so happy and when I saw the look in her eye of how much it meant that I even considered to go, I knew she was the one. So I asked her when I dropped her off at the dorm, to with me. I still can’t believe she said yes.”

“I can see why. I didn’t realize that you were the boy she was always talking about when she called home. I thought it was this guy at first.” Your father put a hand on Sero’s head, messing up his hair and his hat. “She was always talking about this boy, who was a little bit of an asshole, and kind of rude and annoying to her friends but he was always so kind to her.”

 ‘He’s just a boy with issues, insecurities like me. He handles them so differently but I adore that. He’s not a bad guy, papa. He’s just a little lost like me.’

Monoma took a breath, trying to fight the tears that threatened to spill from his eyes. After all this time, and well before you could see right through him. You adored him from the start. He could beat himself up for taking so long to make you his. He could beat himself up for falling victim in a scheme to hurt you. Monoma brought his sleeve to his eyes, feeling your father put a hand on his shoulder in silence. When Monoma opened his eyes, it wasn’t your father, it was Sero.

“You’ve grown on me too, yeah your still the obnoxious asshole you have been for the last two years, but you’re not a bad guy. She’ll wake up, she’ll be okay.”

“yn!” The anger and growl that came from Monoma approaching you in the courtyard was never something you’d expect. He was a trickster, an instigator to your Hero Class but he was never irate, has never spoken in such an angry, venomous tone. The red in his face, was completely new and off putting. 

“Babe, what’s wrong?” You set your bag down next to Sero, who was looking as dumbfounded as you. 

“You. I can’t fucking believe you!” He stopped you in your tracks. What was this sudden change?

“Me? Monoma that makes no sense, you were okay just ten minutes ago?”

“How could I be okay knowing the things that you’ve done!”

“Hey! Watch your fucking self bro. She hasn’t done anything?”

“So you don’t know? You’re her best friend and you don’t fucking know? Well news for you Hanta” Monoma spat. “You’re best friend here, is a selfish, greedy, envious bitch of a woman is the most spineless, petty and horrible person I’ve ever come to know!”

Finally Kendou showed up, Sora following right behind her with a wicked smile. You stood there, staring, anyone looking at you could tell your heart was breaking. Sero stepped forward, grabbing Monoma by his shirt until you yelled his name. 

“Sero stop!” You put your hand on Sero’s shoulder, removing his hands from your boyfriends shirt despite the disgusted look on Monoma’s face. “Monoma, talk to me. What happened in the last ten minutes?”

“Everything happened. I discovered the truth of your whole life.”

“Monoma I’ve told you everything-” You reached up for his face, only to have your hands slapped away. Kendou called for you, but you were stuck in a trance. Sero had noticed, then he noticed Sora. 

“No. All you’ve done is lie, and I’m not talking about this with you so you can lie to me more. I’m here to end this, yn.” He took a step back, fixing his bag. “I hope you have the life you deserve. You better not be pregnante, yn. You’d make a terrible mother.” Monoma turned around, so he couldn’t see you start to shake, or cry. “Maybe you should have died that day.”

Everything became a blur to you after that. You dropped to your knees, unable to register anything.

Was this Sora? You hadn’t seen her, you hadn’t heard of her talking to him again. You thought you were safe, you actually thought you were safe. But even she couldn’t have made him go this far.

The soles of your feet had disappeared into ash, and the earth below started to grow grey and the life of the grass and everything around you slowly began to wither away. You sobbed silently, shaking in a trance that seemed more like hypnosis. Your nose started to bleed your breathing became staggered and with every little cough more blood had rested onto the dead grass below you. 

“yn!” Sero called for you, slowly backing away from the perimeter of the dying earth, unsure if he could even get to you physically. “Someone go fucking get Aizawa!”  

Kendou turned, heading in Sora’s direction but not without seeing the look of dispear and fear in the girls eyes. Right before Kendou could grab ahold of Sora, she called out to Monoma. “Monoma!” She saw him stop, and turn, her eyes began to glow as she said one more word, “Go!” 

SLAP.

Within that same moment Monoma stumbled, out of his emotional and mental manipulation that Sora seemingly released. Looking around he noticed the fear, the yelling the screaming. He saw Kendou slapping the hell out of Sora, and then heard Sero calling for yn. “Sero!” Monoma bolted in the direction of his girlfriend, “What’s happening!?”

“You get the hell away!” he spat, ready to take him down himself but the fear and confusion in Monoma’s eyes made Sero feel sick, when Sero looked at Sora and Kendou fighting on the ground, he had realized, Monoma had been tricked. 

Sora and Kendou had finally seperated, Kendou yelling for you first as Sora just cried and crawled in your direction. “yn! Think of the baby! yn! Think of the baby!”

“What’s happening here!?” Eraserhead had appeared, along with Vlad King.

“I didn’t want this! I didn’t want her hurt like this!” Sora sobbed, stepping into the dead grass and looking at her sister, lifting her head. “Eraserhead!” Sora cried, the teacher activing his quirk the moment that Sora had lifted your head, tears sobbing down your face with enough blood to use as ink. When Eraserhead had stopped your quirk, your head had dropped again with your body, Sora holding you close to her. You were so pale, your eyes were yellow and your skin was cold and turning purple in grey. 

Sirens were heard in the distance, Monoma, Sero, Kendou, Aizawa and Kan watching in confusion as Sora just cried, your blood staining her clothes. It took a moment for Aizawa to pull you out of Soras arms, Kendou and Sero holding her back as she tried to lunge at the teacher taking her sister away, “I didn’t want her to die! She’s still my sister, I didn’t want her to die!” 

There, Monoma silently sobbed, turning to Vlad King after feeling his teachers hand on his shoulder. No words needed to be shared, the two just shared a glance at each other while Aizawa carried you into the ambulance.
