I literally dont know how to continue explaining to people that part of the reason Goku decided to stay dead was because Gohan hated fighting.

He didnt know this until cell. He literally had no idea. Gohan NEVER gave any indication whatsoever. Couple that with the fact Bulma pointed out most of people threatening the Earth during that point in time were all people wanting Goku. The saiyans. Frieza. The androids. Doctor Gero. Cell.

All because of Goku. Its not his fault but his very existence consistently put the Earth in danger. He truly believed Earth would be safer without him and therefore, gohan wouldnt be consistently placed into battle.

Because Goku didnt know gohan hated fighting. But once he knew came the very interwoven nature of these threats he brought making his own son fight because gohan felt he HAD to. Not because he wanted to. For goku, protecting the earth always aligned with his own love for fighting. But gohan fought out of necessity, out of the very idea that they couldnt afford to do it without him. He has this power he didnt ask for so he must use it right? Because it would be selfish if he didnt.

But goku... goku thought gohan was like him. Gohan WANTED to return to help fight vegeta. He WANTED to go to namek. He WANTED to stay and fight after piccolo almost died to frieza. Goku didnt see gohan train that first year. Didnt witness what it took to make gohan a fighter. All he saw was his son who now was strong and wanted to join the fight like his dad. And he knows gohan is more powerful than them, knows he can stop cell, FELT IT. Gohan has to defeat cell because no one else can. So he thinks if gohan gets angry enough fighting cell, itll be the answer. Because thats how its always been for goku. And in thirty seconds piccolo makes him realize he's wrong. He doesnt argue back, he listens and concedes and realizes that piccolo is right. And suddenly goku wants to abandon his plan and stop the fight. He made a mistake. He intends to get gohan out. And in the end, he still ended up being right, but it doesnt change what goku now knows. Gohan isnt like him and he doesnt enjoy fighting.

Goku would have NEVER made gohan fight if he thought he didnt want to. You know this whenever adult gohan gets involved in a fight and goku apologizes that he had to. Or when someone suggests gohan for a battle and goku is like nah he's "out of practice," even when they have time FOR PRACTICE. He never wants to force gohan into a situation like cell again. Because cell was a mistake and goku has learned from it. So he never asks Gohan to fight anymore. If Gohan wants in then of course he's in. But he wants his son to be able to choose that. He wants gohan to be HAPPY and if thats not fighting then thats perfectly alright with goku.

So it wasnt just about keeping the earth safe. Or his friends. It was knowing that in the safety of gokus absence, gohan wouldnt have to fight either. There would be less threats, less chances of his son being forced into battle. And sure he also trusted that gohan and the others could keep the earth safe if they had to, but he was banking on the threat level significantly decreasing instead.

And decrease it did. They had seven whole years of peace. Not a single threat. Meanwhile from the moment Raditz shows up to gokus death to cell, it all takes place within the span of FIVE YEARS. The longest they went without a threat was the three year gap spent training for the androids. And they spent every waking moment knowing they were coming.

And then if you look at trunks future... majority of the human population being wiped out by the androids. Majority of gokus friends. His son. All dead. Because of him. Because he defeated the red ribbon army when he was a child. And that very easily could have been their future as well. So Goku does his job in preventing that. He saves all of them. And if hes the only one who ends up dead, well... it doesnt matter. Because they aren't. And he intends to keep it that way. So he stays in otherworld, to keep them safe and to give his son a future that he can choose. If Gohan has to fight, then he can. But at least his father wouldnt be the one bringing the threats to his door.

I have fallen down a rabbit hole for your Smiling Critter ARG and am now trapped with at least like… three OC’s made and more on the way.

But I quite curious on something. I was looking at the LOOOORE documents/posts you made and the lore about the electronic toys(like the Boogie Bots) being able to live by being recharged without the mist has got me thinking.

What would happen if a toy could basically upload itself onto a VHS or a computer through the same process. Could they just… kinda hightail it when in danger or are they connected to their body still?

first of all, 'm still processing the idea of my silly ARG/Au becoming a big part in this new fandom of the Smiling Critters, after all i started it with lil to none information of them (and... we still have lil info of them in canon, sad), so to know there's a lot of people really enjoying my work and even making Oc related to it make me excited!

Now, about your question, let's explain a lil more about the electronic toys.

For started, they have a brain that command the whole toy, but said brain is the only ''meat'' part on them, and it stay in a refrigerate container with Poppy serum, preventing the brain from rooting.

The poppy serum doesn't need to be change, but it need to stay refrigerate to keep the brain in good state, and the cooler system only work with energy, that's why they use batteries or get charged.

But that also mean that they aren't really ''coded'', so they don't have a way to connect themself to a electronic system, their minds don't work with numbers and symbols.

but they can learn to command the code in a computer system to used it, but just in the normal human way, like if someone learned to hack but without using their hands. Right, they can't be the matix, but thinks like hacking the doors when the gang is in need is enough.

Okay but I highkey loved Dr Fate's mental retreat sanctuary for superheros in JLU, because it felt so damn real that sometimes you just want to hide and get away, especially after experiencing something as hardcore as sentencing your race in order to save the planet you care for. Shayera Hol - former Hawkgirl - is grieving, healing and questioning her own fate. She has no idea what to do with her life anymore since her mask broke and she's no longer a solider and a spy. Shayera is finally free to be herself, yet she lost her friends, her lover and her purpose. How often do you see something so raw and real in an animated TV show?

Arthur and Shayera, two fierce, combative bersekers playing chess and an android who was ready to destroy a whole world just sitting there and watching? There's something hilarious about this scene

longtime dc fan and i think a lot of people are angry because alex is obviously one of the most culturally relevant instances of misogyny in media. that being said being more culturally relevant doesn’t mean it’s the worst instance of misogyny and i think bumble definitely experiences more profound misogyny in the way the actual content is presented, if that makes sense

I get you, and that's a charitable way of looking at it.

I think what's rustling my jimmies is that like, there was a couple of WC fans being mildly dismissive of Alex in that note minefield, after dozens of comments of "fuck you how could you let the fridge woman lose" and "Bumble didn't deserve to win ANY rounds" and "how could A CAT experience misogyny." But then WE get blamed for the toxicity because THEY were butthurt that the Funny Cat People have the 'audacity' to win something they feel entitled to.

Like, we've gotta be endlessly charitable as we get openly insulted because they're upset about Alex losing, a very well-known and culturally relevant character with a legacy so massive we have a whole term named after her. But condemnations of "She's just a cat, letting WC into this poll was a mistake, Bumble can't even be a victim of misogyny" only started coming around once I started talking about it.

as if it's OUR fault people got passive-aggressive or even OPENLY aggressive towards us, and that we're "just as bad" for retaliating

But like you said, it's not a "Most Culturally Relevant Misogyny" tournament, it's a "Canon Misogyny Victims" tournament. And you're not even supposed to give a shit that Bumble died. The fat, woman abuse victim is beaten to death by a dictator, and your takeaway is meant to be, "It's so sad that Clear Sky is being blamed for murdering her, now they're all preparing for self-defense against a homicidal maniac, oh nooo :("

And I think that DOES make her deserve the win here! Alex is a MARTYR. Everyone with a brain agrees what happens to her is bad. It happened in her canon because it was bad. We talk about her and keep her memory alive. Bumble gets dismissed entirely out of hand because she's "just a cat in a kid's book" as if that doesn't make it worse, and as if the kid's book didn't treat a domestic abuse survivor like a moron for even asking for help.

Anyway, just to reiterate, I love DC fans. It's not all of you guys. Alex was done dirty and deserves justice-- and it's even kind of a shame that all she became is "The Fridge Woman." I haven't even heard people talk about how she was a wary, responsible person who was still ready to rock with Kyle's new weird glowstick powers, or that she was a journalist, or that she just got brought back in another edition as a Green Lantern only to be revealed as an illusion and re-absorbed back into Kyle's mind. Nope. Even her fans just remember her as The Fridge Woman.

And Adam's very convinced that he can't have emotions/#/because of the whole being an android- but he's been 'pretending' like he can and he's had fun 'pretending' to have a crush on Isaac/#/in his head. He's not told anyone he simply liked to pretend to be silly and in love with his best friend in his head. Like normal people.#Then he realises that /Isaac likes him/. And Adam immediately feels terribly guilty about what he's been doing so he tries to stop/#/his fake little crush. Only he can't stop because to his own surprise he is capable of feeling things- just not the way most people can #so he's busy having a crisis over making Isaac fall for him while ''not being capable of loving him back'' all the while very much doing so #/just not in The Normal Way.#<- which is a very convoluted way to write a love story but he's an android and he gets to be the conduct for the alienation narrative
