Are trans people real?

There are people deluded into thinking they are a gender in discord with their physiology, yes. When asked why they think this, they rely on stereotypical gender roles from their surrounding culture.

EDIT: I have been reminded of people who want to have different sexual organs, allegedly divorced from socially-generated gender dysphoria. These people are no more in need of different sexual organs than are people of body integrity dysphoria of missing limbs. It is a delusion all the same.

Trans Insecurity

I have heard from detransistioners as well as Trans Activists that trans people are extremely insecure in their identity, which is why they explode at the smallest thing that threatens it. A lot of well meaning people try to help by jumping through hoops and bending over backwards to assure the trans person that they are whatever they identify as. What those well meaning people have forgotten is the difference between helping and enabling, and what trans people who rely on the assurance of others do not realize is that they are giving away their power.

Real power is being confident enough in your identity so that even if someone challenges it, it doesn’t phase you. Real power is knowing who you are and not having to pretend to be someone different. Real power is being able to hold onto your truth even if someone else does not agree.

Forcing someone else to validate who you are may help in the short term. The hard truth is that even if you can coerce all 8 billion people on this planet to acknowledge your identity (and that is not a realistic goal) it will never be enough if you don’t feel secure in your identity.

Forcing people to shout “trans women are women”, forcing pronouns down people’s throats and making the world walk on eggshells around pronouns and doing everything they can to validate you, and shutting down debate about the research into pediatric transition may feel like things that help in the moment. And they may temporarily give you a boost in self esteem. But in the long term it is making your mental health worse.

Just as a opioid addict believes that heroin will help, in actuality it is hurting.

Real mental health and real healing is looking inward and becoming secure in your own identity. Real mental health is not relying on others to tell you who you are.

And to those of you who are not assuming a trans identity and are trying to be supportive, please consider whether you are really helping or hurting.

Bigotry is not hatred. You need to recognize elements of bigotry that aren't hateful or mean. Bigotry is believing and enforcing someone's status as marginalized. But you don't have to hate someone to believe that they're lesser then you, or desevre less rights.

There are bigots who will treat you as a child that needs protecting, and who can't be trusted with your own freedom. They won't be mean to you, but they think of you as lesser then them none the less. This is especially common with bigotry twords disabled people and twords people society views as female.

When looking to see if someone is bigoted asgisnt a group, don't ask weather or not they hate them, as weather or not they think they deserve less rights.

Queer youth autonomy protest!

Are you a queer person in the USA under 25 years old who wants to fight for their rights? Join the protest!

The Basics

This protest is a nation wide protest happening at every state capital and in Washington DC. The date will be March 31st, but there's much to do before then.

The website is queeryouthassemble and the tumblr account is @queeryouthautonomy I am not the official spokesperson or anything like that I just joined the State March Committee and am very passionate :D

State Marches

To get information on the locations, times, etc of your local state marches be sure to check this map for changes. Alternatively here's a link to the state march masterpost by the official blog.

While DC and state capitals are the priority, other marches will be held in various places. So hopefully you can find one close to you that you can attend!

DC March

The DC march will be the biggest march and the focus. The goal is to get people from all fifty states to attend. The focus is queer youth, but anyone who cares about queer rights can attend.

If funds are available, hopefully queer youths' trips to DC will be covered for those who can't afford it.

The march path will be mobility aid accessible and the speeches will be accessible for HoH and vision impaired folks!

List Of Demands

The list of demands is now complete! Click here to sign, whether as an individual or for an org.

Committees

The committees are entirely led by queer youth. The committees help organize the protests. There's four committees,

General March Committee: Provides input and suggestions for the general march, helps create a list of demands.

Resources and Guides Committee: Creates resources for safe protests and walkouts, advertises the resources on social media.

Washington DC March Committee: Contacts orgs and politicians to contribute to the DC protest (the biggest protest)

State March Committee: Organizes protests in the state capitals, updates website with state marches information, advertising the state marches.

Walkouts

Along with the protests they're also looking to organize peaceful walkouts at schools nation wide for the goal of having schools become supportive of queer youth.

If you want to organize one at your school, I personally recommend working with your school GSA club (if you have one, if not maybe you'd want to work on organizing one!)

Alternatives to walkouts are available too, there's plenty other ways you can organize an event at your school if walkouts would be too difficult.

Donations

Donations are needed to fund the protests! If you've got some spare money and want to support queer youth, please consider donating here!

Organizations

While I doubt I have this kind of reach, especially on tumblr (maybe if enough people reblog idk), if any orgs see this and are interested in supporting the protests,

State orgs: If you'd like to help organize/support a march in your state capital (or other important places) there's a form for you to fill out here.

Nationwide orgs: Your platform is needed for advertising. To find some flyers or pamphlets to use, look here. (I used one for this post)

how you should use the word "psychotic":

•to describe someone suffering from psychosis, thats literally it.

by changing the meaning of the word you are adding stigma to an already stigmatized word. you are ripping the true definition away from us who are actually psychotic. i hear psychotic misused every day and im tired. us who do suffer with psychosis are in the world, on the internet and we hear how you twist our word to fit any meaning but the real one. i want to live in a world where i can say im psychotic and people will understand what that means. but it cant be done by psychotic people alone. everyone needs to uphold the true meaning of the word to detstigmatize and educate people on psychosis and what psychotic actually means. i know language can evolve, but misusing, and allowing other people to misuse "psychotic" is actively harmful to psychotic people.
