also, i know im not saying anything new here but while I did enjoy seeing hayden & ewan again [ honestly, I'm just happy hayden knows how much his performance as anakin means to ppl ] I'm just disappointed in MYSELF that I didn't see disney using that sense of nostalgia prequel fans have/had as a marketing tool. like UHG. don't get me wrong, there were bits on the series I enjoyed, however, it didn't nearly rip me apart as much as it could have, and they abandoned the more grueling [ but satisfying work ] of tearing obi wan apart inwardly in favor for a more action based, outward plot.

I'm wondering if you would write either a Roy Kent x reader where they go to NY or Disney? I'm a big MT fan and a big Disney World/Disneyland fan
The Happiest Place on Earth
Roy Kent x Reader 1.5k words Warnings: Language
Ahh this was such a cute request! Roy at Disneyland would be the cutest, funniest thing. (And if there's any artists out there, I am begging someone to draw that grumpy man in some Mickey ears!!!)
I hope you like it! ❤️❤️
~
“Where the fuck are we going now?”
You rolled your eyes and grabbed Roy’s hand. “Small World. It’s got a short line right now,” you explained, weaving through the crowd. “And stop having such a good time, it’s embarrassing.”
A bunch of the staff and players for A.F.C. Richmond had decided to spend some of their off-season at Disneyland, and you’d somehow managed to convince Roy that it would be fun. However, you were pretty sure he only agreed to go because you were so excited and that the allure of Mickey Mouse and princesses and Star Wars had absolutely nothing to do with it.
“If that fucking song gets stuck in my head, you’re going to have to perform a lobotomy,” he muttered, earning himself a sharp look from you. “Sorry, sorry. Look, we’re having fun, whee.” He offered a smile that was really more than a grimace as you approached the ride.
You wrapped your arms around his middle, gazing up at him, all grizzled and handsome and brooding- and wearing a pair of Mickey ears he’d reluctantly let you pick out for him when you bought your Minnie Mouse ones. It was a nice sight- or at least it would be if he was smiling. His signature glower would probably scare more kids than any ride on the Haunted Mansion could.
With a sigh, you tugged on his leather jacket. “Aren’t you hot in this thing?”
Finally, a smirk. “You tell me.”
“Just get on the damn boat.” You chuckled as you approached the front of the line, which was even shorter than you’d expected.
The two of you settled into the back row of the little boat, joined by a father and son duo. The dad’s eyes lit up at the sight of Roy, and he leaned down to whisper something in his son’s ear. The little boy turned around, mouth wide, and waved at Roy, who gave a little growl of acknowledgement. The boy didn’t falter; instead, his smile widened, and he and his father exchanged high-fives.
As the little boat traveled around the world, you bounced your head from side to side and hummed along, enjoying the familiar warmth of Roy’s arm draped around your shoulders. When you snuck a glance at him, your heart melted a little when you noticed the corner of his mouth moving ever-so-slightly along to the words of the song.
Once the boat finished making its way through the tunnels, Roy nearly jumped out of the boat, turning around to offer you his hand as you climbed out. You glanced at your phone, debating what to do next. With a grunt, Roy nudged you. You followed his gaze to a passing princess.
“Hi, Snow!” you called good-naturedly, not caring that you sounded like a child and not an adult woman.
Snow White paused, smiling at you. “Hello there!” Her voice was high and sweet, like cotton candy to your ears. She pointed to Roy. “Oh dear, is something wrong?”
Roy’s face bore the same expression he wore anytime someone called Jamie his best friend. “What? No.” He was clearly holding back a “fuck” somewhere in there.
You giggled and nudged Roy. “That’s just his face.”
“Ohhh,” Snow White responded, nodding in understanding. “He’s like my friend Grumpy!” she chirped with a giggle. “He always makes a face like that too!”
Roy’s frown deepened as you laughed.
“Could we get a picture?” you asked, pulling out your phone.
Snow White turned to the cast member that stood next to her, who shrugged in response. “Absolutely!” she answered, fluffing out her yellow skirt.
You handed your mobile to Roy, who quickly snapped a picture of you and the princess. After he handed the phone back to you, you nodded to him.
“No fu-” He stopped as a small child crossed between you. “No,” he grumbled.
“Roy, are you going to disappoint a princess?” you reasoned, nodding at Snow White, who was ready for another pose.
With a heaving sigh, he went and stood next to Snow, looking more like an inmate on death row than a man on vacation. After a quirked eyebrow from you, however, he smiled- at least, his version of a smile.
“Have a beautiful day!” Snow White called over her shoulder as she continued on her way, probably heading to a well-earned break after walking around wearing that dress in the Anaheim heat.
You showed Roy the pictures and smirked. “So, all it took to get you to take a damn picture was mentioning the beautiful princess, hmm?”
Another one of those grumbling sighs escaped his lips. “I didn’t do it for fucking Snow White.” He placed his hand firmly on your waist. “Did it for you. ’Cause you’re my princess, or some shit like that.” His cheeks were tinted pink, a telling sign of his embarrassment.
Standing on tiptoe, you kissed one of those warm cheeks. “Well, guess that makes you more like Prince Charming than Grumpy, hmm?”
He gazed down at you with a smile- a real one this time- and shrugged. “Are princes allowed to be grouchy?” he teased.
You took his hand and continued your walk. “Oh sure. Haven’t you ever seen Beauty and the Beast?”
“So, I’m a beast now? Fucking thanks,” he muttered, kissing the top of your head.
“Hey, if it makes you feel better, I think the whole ‘giving her the library’ thing is like the hottest thing any Disney character has ever done.”
Roy rolled his eyes as Sam and Jamie walked by, leading a group of Greyhounds wearing Disney spirit jerseys and waving to us enthusiastically. “Your standards are far too high to be dating me,” he mumbled, greeting the guys with a nod.
You shrugged. “Guess you gotta step it up, Kent,” you shot back.
The two of you made your way to Space Mountain, the only ride Roy had named when you’d asked him what he wanted to do that day. As you waited in the futuristic hallways, you felt a pair of arms wrap around you from behind.
“Careful, my boyfriend used to be a professional footballer,” you joked, looking up and seeing Roy gazing down at you tenderly.
“Oh yeah? Is he big and strong?” he played along, his mouth ticking upwards.
You twisted around to face him, wrinkling your nose. “I guess. But you could probably outrun him, he’s got shit knees.”
Roy rolled his eyes. “I see he’s got a very supportive girlfriend.” He tilted his head down and kissed your lips gently. “Lucky bastard.”
With an eyeroll, you playfully shoved Roy away. “Alright, relax, there’s kids around, Kent.”
“One more.” He ducked his head again and pressed one more kiss to your lips. “You having a good time?” he asked, shifting to keep one arm around your waist as the two of you shuffled with the moving line.
“I am,” you assured him. “Not sure if you are though,” you admitted.
His thick brows furrowed. “What makes you say that?”
You shrugged, a little embarrassed. “I mean, you’re hard to read sometimes.” You reached up and used your finger to push up the corner of his mouth. “The whole brooding scowling thing is sexy and all, but it’d be nice to be able to see that you’re having a good time,” you joked.
“Hmmf.” Roy gave your hip a small squeeze but didn’t say much else for the rest of the wait.
As the two of you climbed into the rocket ship, you turned to face him. “You mad at me?”
He made a face and shook his head as he took off his ears. “You’re fine,” he said, his gruff tone assuring. He shot you a wink before you turned around to make sure your things were secure.
As the ride shot through the dark, you couldn’t help but hear something familiar over the music: Roy’s laughter. The sound was different than his usual snickers at Jamie’s expense or the huff of air he’d let out when watching Step Brothers. This laugh was loud and gruff, sounding like it came from the depth of his lungs. It was punctuated by a few hoots and hollers when the ride picked up speed or took particularly sharp turns. By the time you returned to the start of the ride, you couldn’t tell if your heart was racing from the ride or from how happy Roy sounded.
Just like with Small World, Roy quickly got out and reached down to help you exit the ride. He gripped your hand tightly as you walked away from the ride. Though you intended to keep walking past the ride photos, Roy tugged your hand, pulling you towards the screens.
“Roy?”
He jerked his head up towards the pictures. “Want me to buy you one?”
You looked up and stifled a giggle at what you saw. There you were, gripping the rail in front of you tightly, mouth wide open in a scream. More importantly, behind you was Roy, hands in the air and a giant smile filling his bearded face. It made your heart burst to see him so full of… joy.
When you looked back at him, he was putting his ears back on, smirking at you. “There. Can you tell I’m happy now?”
“Yeah,” you answered softly, planting a kiss on his cheek. “Absolutely. Now, can you go buy one? I’m putting that on my Christmas card."

Chapter Summary: Crosshair wakes in the middle of the night to hear Omega crying. He tries his best to help. A/N: These ideas just sprang to my head once I heard of the scene between Omega & Crosshair in the Star Wars Celebration trailer , thus add my apparent enjoyment of causing turmoil for my favourite characters , I couldn't help but write this ficlet up. I wrote it & the next chapter ( which will be posted in a few day ) up in a single night because of the inspiration so here's to hope it's coherent & in-character as I think it is ! Thus consider this a small collection of interconnecting one - shots of Crosshair & Omega whilst they are held on Tantiss. If more ideas come to mind , the chapter count will go up & the tags will be updated. I have no beta this all mistakes are mine. Disclaimer: I do not own any rights to Star War : The Clone Wars & Star Wars : The Bad Batch. Neither am I associated with Lucasfilms , Disney+ , nor any of the actors who portray these characters. I make no money off any of my stories , this is purely for entertainment purposes. Read On : ao3 | under the cut

Wakefulness came instantaneously to Crosshair. Much like the times when on a mission he would be woken to take his turn of the watch, a near silent whisper of his name from one of his brothers and he was roused enough to fight if it had been needed. The instincts and habits born during combat, or from combat training, hadn't lessened any in the countless weeks he had spent as a prisoner. For his eyes were open and mind alert before he knew exactly what had woken him.
Drawn from the depths of sleep by the softest of out-of-place noise. A breathy, hiccuping sound that was familiar in the sense he had heard it before. Although the memory of it was distant, it had happened years ago in what seemed like another life, and any recollection was immediately dismissed when it registered that the stifled crying was coming from the kid’s cell.
Tensing at that realisation, Crosshair listened a moment more to the muffled sniffles and shallowly exhaled sobs from the cell directly next to his. They were quiet in a way that was deliberate and purposefully, yet desolate and grieved sounding to the point, he knew there was nothing the kid could have done to stop crying altogether. They were the tears of the emotional wrought, which never heeded logic nor yielded to restraint or threats, they wouldn't stop until they were spent.
Normally, Crosshair would have left the kid alone. He knew he wasn't good with words of comfort at the best of times and the barrier separating their cells, despite the slats that were vented through the durasteel and allowed them to see into each other’s room, it still physically barred any actions of comfort he could offer. Not that they had much to offer in way of amenities anyway, but he could have at least added his blanket to hers or sat beside her until her tears ran dry as he had done before for his brothers.
However, he wasn't sure if it would even work for her if he had been able to do that.
But after what had happened only a handful of days ago, Crosshair wasn't going to leave anything to chance with the kid if he could help it. Just because he thought he knew why she was crying didn't mean he could be wrong, he had been intimately shown that he could and had repeatedly been wrong before. Thus he, quickly yet equally as quiet, turned on his cot until he was laying on his belly and could look towards the apertures between their cells.
The lighting was dimmed to the point of blackness, aside from the red glow the shielding of their cell entrances gave off, but Crosshair had zero issue with seeing that the kid was sitting up on the bunk. Her knees were drawn up to her chest and she had her head buried into her folded arms, all but consumed by the sole blanket they had all been issued that she had lain and tucked over herself.
He could visibly see the blanket shift with every hitch of her breaths and jolt of her small frame. The greyed fabric quavered with the strength of her trembling in-between every jarring sob she fought to restrain and quiet.
“Kid.” Crosshair called out in a whisper, which caused an instant cessation of the repressed sobbing and a stillness to overcome the kid as if his voice had physically froze her on the spot.
Seeing such a reaction had Crosshair’s lips twisting moreso into a frown. The response had been a fearful one, instinctive to the point it was nearly innate. Although, he wasn’t surprised at it given how Kamino raised its clones and their current situation as captives to scientists of even less compassion than those who bred them to begin with. It felt wrong to see, and sparked at that bitterly simmering anger that always burnt within his chest.
“Crosshair?” Came her choked whisper, thick with tears and broken between the syllables of his name, as if she had spoken in the middle of a sob, whilst she tilted her head up a fraction to see over her arms and from under the blanket she had draped over her head.
“What is it?” He asked in way of an answer, his voice a sibilant murmur.
His words again had an instant effect upon her. And he could only watch as she swallowed back another sob, a pair of crystalline tears falling from her reddened eyes and slipping in twin rivulets down her already damp cheeks before she shut her eyes tightly and shook her head in the negative repeatedly. Dropping it back into her arms whilst her whole body shuddered, he heard her give a gasping breath that was only muffled by how vehemently she was pressing herself against her mouth to silence the noise.
The split second all that had taken to occur had sent a lancing of panic through Crosshair’s chest. His mind involuntarily conjured up the images of days prior and brought forth the very same helpless terror he had felt then, thus he’s shoving down his blanket without caring where he lay and throwing his legs over the side of the bunk to get up in the next instant.
Soundlessly crossing the short expanse of the room in hardly the time it would take to breathe his next breath, Crosshair came up to the adjoining wall of their cells that held a small space between it and the end of his bunk that he could crouched down by yet still see through the lower ends of the open slats on the wall. It was less conspicuous to any passing guards if they happened to walk by or check the cameras since it would afford him the sparse few seconds to return to his bunk or appear to be anything other than talking with the kid.
He moved automatically, an ingrained habit to conceal and hide that hadn't left his muscle memory from the years he’d spent in the main barracks on Kamino before he and his brothers had been given their own privately shared quarters. Yet if something were dangerously wrong with the kid, his secrecy wound proved unneeded for he would ensure the guards brought medical up and to her if she needed it. After last time, he doubted he would have to make much of a racket to get them to obey.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, his harsh whisper laced with a steeliness that sharpened his tone, the underlying of heightened concern was buried beneath its acerbity.
The only answer he received were the chocked sounds of her muffled weeping.
“Omega.” He called, an urgency within the sole whisper of her name that held every ounce of worry and tension he was feeling.
“‘M not hurt,” She finally answered after a stretched handful of moments, her words a tad garbled by her tears but understandable enough, “Or sick. Just, just had a nightmare.”
Crosshair felt himself practically wilt against the wall before him, a relief it wasn't anything more serious and potentially life threatening washed over him with an immediacy that left him feeling shaky. But he simply breathed out the stress of the last several minutes in a muted exhale, willing his mind away from the images his memories held of a few days ago.
Pausing only a moment to contemplate her words further, nothing physical was wrong, but it didn't make her distress any less. It'd been a few years since Crosshair had helped any of his brothers with nightmares of this extent. Since leaving Kamino they had all dealt with them differently than they had as cadets, never alone still, unless any of them professed the want to be alone after them.
But it was more of waking them if they couldn't on their own, then offering a sip-pack of filtered water and sitting nearby until the haunting images faded enough for them to return to sleep. If sleeping again wasn't an option, then staying up till the terror or ill feelings weren't so pressing. Or so Crosshair had always done. He wasn't one for many words, nor comfortingly eloquent, and so he didn't offer much assurances that way. Actions usually spoke louder than words anyway.
Thus Crosshair simply turned around from where he knelt and shifted so he could sit down, cross legged with his back against the thin openings between their cells.
Leaning his head back against them, he quietly turned to sit on the durasteel flooring. It's coldness seeping through the fabric of his trousers to chill the flesh along his legs and arse, but it was negligible and not an unfamiliar sensation since he had camped out on the deck beside bunks and berths multiple times throughout his eleven years of life. Slept even on worse surfaces.
He couldn't be there next to her, but he could still sit with her as close as he their physical confines allowed him to. Attempting to offer her the silent comfort he had afforded his brothers numerous times before; the voiceless succour he’d provided hunter whenever he had migraines so painful he was entirely incapacitated yet couldn't be left alone, the same quiet amity he lent tech whenever his brother would narrate the process of a complicated project whilst he verbally worked through the issue, the soundless presence he had given the reg whenever he sat with him on his bunk during sleepless nights.
With Wrecker it had been less about crosshair offering a silent support and more about rising to meet his older brother’s energy, engaging in and initiating contests and games that they routinely fought for place as victor. It was usually Wrecker who worked to be the calm and steady company whenever Crosshair had needed it.
He wasn't certain what would best work with the kid. His options were limited as is, he knew, especially given there were eyes upon them more often than not, but perhaps this would grant a modicum of solace? If anything he would remain awake alongside her, she wouldn't be alone.
A modified silence reigned around them. No noise except for the distant humming of the buildings’ systems, the air vents cycling and the low humming that always came from the multiple glowing shields that held them all within their prisons. Only accompanied by the smothered hiccuping sobs and wet snuffling that came from the kid as she continued to quietly cry.
“I dreamt of that day on Eriadu,” He heard her speak up suddenly after several minutes had passed, explaining the reason for her upset in a subdued voice, softly heaving a stuttered breath thereafter, “The, the day that Tech...”
Crosshair stiffened at hearing her admission, startled by the onslaught of heartache hearing his little brother’s name had shot through his core. Eyes closing on their own accord, he strove to keep his own breathing even. Measured and counted.
He had been informed of what happened by Hemlock. The kriffing bastard had brandished the remains of Tech’s shattered helmet to him as if it were a trophy meant to be shown off and smiled at with revenance.
Later when he had been returned to his own cell and saw the kid was in hers, looking worriedly over at him, he had whirled on her once the guards had left them alone. Not shouting nor anywhere near loud, but demanded he did. Low and severe, he relaid what Hemlock told him to her and pressed to know if it was true. Yet he hadn't needed any verbal confirmation from her since the expression on her face and the welling of tears in her eyes had told him everything.
Shuddering, Crosshair drew a slow breath against the icy-grip of grief that reached out from his heart to clamp vice-like around his chest, intertwining its talons between each and every rib. It strove to stutter his next inhale and constrict the rest to nothing.
The ire he had initially felt when he had found out had tapered, he couldn't remain angry long enough to stave off the tide of grief anymore these last several days. Extinguished by a resurgence of memories, likely brought up by exhaustion and grief, from their years as cadets and from their graduation onwards to an elite squad in the GAR.
Stupid moments during the dull moments of missions or in-between assignments, idle chatter of conversations he hadn't remembered until now to petty arguments that felt all the more trivial to shared silences of companionship and solidarity.
Recollections of smiling, and outright laughing a few rare times, with his brothers. Of games and tears and jokes and the grittiest of missions where they barely made it out by the skin of their teeth. Memories of every sort, good and bad, had coalesced and come to the forefront of his mind unbidden. Each one worked to erode at his anger and the bitterness he had felt, it all felt frivolous and inane now. Regret had seeped in heavier than ever before, mingling with guilt and his grief to the degree he felt ill with it.
Learning of his brother’s death in an attempt to rescue him and then seeing the kid had been captured only to have her confirm his warning had been received just not followed had twisted something deep inside Crosshair. He had clung to the rage at their continued distrust of him, that they wouldn't even listen to his wanting, and had been snuffed out almost immediately.
For their squad had never been one to follow orders or adhere to any strict rules, anything ‘by the book’ was a joke they all smirked at. He shouldn't have expected anything less, even if the kid was involved. she was off the same stock after all, and living with those four for so long had to have had an influence.
Maker knows Wrecker, Tech, and the reg. held no impulse control if Hunter wasn't actively present. Thus he doubted the kid was any different.
“I’m sorry.” Her voice was closer now, directly at his back, so lost to his reminiscence he hadn't heard her get up nor walk over towards where he sat, “I know you’re mourning him too. That's why I didn't want to say anything.”
Her words felt more akin to a hit to the solar plexus than the expression of sympathy that they were. And again he had to work to steady his breathing lest he lose any control over the amount of oxygen he drew in, shoving back against the pressure welling within his own chest.
Focussing instead on the faint sounds from her side of the slatted wall, hearing the soft shuffling of the kid’s clothes along with the dull thumps of her sitting down behind him. The faint warmth he could feel from her back through the slits in the wall told him she had mirrored his posture.
“But I miss them so much.” She said after a breadth of silence between them, nearer a broken whimper that continued through the wobbliness of tears to whisper, “And I want to go home, but when we get out of here and see Hunter, Wrecker, and Echo again, Tech won't— No rescue plan or any amount of credits can bring him back to us.”
Clenching his eyes closed at hearing her words, spoken so plainly and bereaved yet still she held out hope for rescue based upon her use of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’, and she remained adamant in her wish to have him return with her it seemed since she only ever referred to them instead of just herself when it came to escaping or being rescued. ‘We’ never ‘me’ or ‘I’ when she spoke of it. Believing in it so heartedly she didn't seem aware she had used such verbiage.
It brought forth another form of sadness to Crosshair's chest, the grief over knowing Tech was gone nestled beside the misery of knowing her hopes would not be met.
Omega held such belief in their brothers and in everything turning out with them reunited, even if it wasn't better or all right, that they would all see each other again. But Tech had already lost his life in an effort to rescue just him, thus locating this place and infiltrating it was a challenge unlike any they had encountered before. Too many variables to calculate against and the highest of secrecy about this place, along with the Empire’s sheer numbers and degree of control. Add to the fact, Hemlock held a sadistic ambition when it came to his experiments…
It was unlikely they would be found before something worse happened. If they could be located at all, there was an even less chance of everyone surviving that rescue attempt. In one piece or at all. There was little accuracy in her hopes, but Crosshair supposed that was why they were called hopes. They weren't actuality nor truths, simply wishes that were based upon a small shard of reality. And after everything that had been taken from her, he couldn't take that from her. Not yet, not now.
Venting a muted sigh, Crosshair bowed his head and moved a hand of his to reach back beside him through the lower end of the opening between their cells. Although his hands were lithe, he could only reach through to the knuckles nearest his palm before the edges of the slat stopped him, but it was enough for him to brush the fabric of her sleeve.
Pinching the material awkwardly between his pointer and middle finger, he tugged it gently twice to gain her attention towards his hand. Hearing her shift behind him, he released her shirtsleeve to splay out his finger slightly in a deliberate motion. Only a second's pause came from her before a quiet sniffle met the air and he felt her small hand encircle his fingers. And he curled his fingers a slight to ensure she felt his attempt to hold her hand back.
A/N: :))) I have made myself sad now… but another chapter to come , so see you soon with more feels <3 The next chapter will detail what Crosshair references in this chapter about what happened to Omega those days prior.

Broke
Pairing: Din Djarin x reader
Summary: Teamed up on a mission to capture a criminal, you both were in it for different reasons. Greed, Love and sacrifices had to be made to get what you wanted. Even if love wasn't the most important thing to you. But it was to him.
Word Count: ~3k
A/N: so please be gentle with this fic. I really have been wanting to watch these new Disney shows for awhile but I haven't gotten around to it. I tried my best to depict Din and this world but I only know so much. My friends and family watch it so I know some about it. But I do love the idea of the Mandalorian, and Im obsessed with Star Wars and Pedro Pascal, so heres something :)
Warnings: Some information from the newest episode of The Book of Boba Fett; some curse words; alcohol; mentions of Grogu; Violence; some blood and action; some angst or a lot ;)

As you saw him study the well-known target, making arrangements to land the ship close to the slaughterhouse where they could grab the criminal, a worried gaze settled over you.
He was tired.
He was lost without the kid. He took up many jobs across the galaxy, not hoping but pleading to simply cross paths with the Jedi that claimed to keep him safe. He almost went stir-crazy. Claiming the kid as his own from the start, caring for him, nurturing him, he just couldn’t keep himself from worrying. He knew the strong force would protect him from the darkness of the universe, keeping him connected even though he would most likely never see him again.
A pitiful sigh came from his lips as he came back to reality.
“Did you receive the files yet?”
His eyes were still reading over the ones you received earlier from the base. His gloved hand resting over his aching forehead.
“I haven’t seen any. What are we missing?” You wondered what other possible information he could need? He studied this person, every day for the past few weeks. Hell, the last few years. He knew Kaba Baiz too well. When he came to get you, you noticed his tired gaze. His slumped posture. He only took short breaks, sleeping in the pilot seat, files pressed up against his metal chest, almost falling to the ground.
That night you had to coax him from his slumber, not knowing if he was conscious or not but pushing him to go get something to eat while you steered. He was very stubborn.
It was a reoccurring dance that you two had over the years.
“Please go to bed, Mando. I can handle the rest.”
“Are you sure? I can still look over his profile, he might have changed his whereabouts since someone tipped him off saying that someone was looking for him.”
He wondered who could have done it? He knew many people throughout the galaxy, but most of them were people he trusted. He didn’t tell anyone about the bounty, except for you obviously.
“Yes, I'm sure. You need to sleep. Go.” Your hands waved him off as you slightly giggled at his swaying body. He was on the verge of collapse, but he was always persistent in getting the job done.
He still stood there. His hidden pleading gaze from behind his helmet locked with yours.
“I'll meet you in bed soon, okay?” you reminded him.
A small nod as he turned around lazily, walking to his cabin. You shook your head.
He always needed reassurance. He didn’t sleep well at night without you close to him.
You were the only one that knew what he went through at night. He has captured so many people before, all the jobs straining his mind. But this one was the worst. Kaba Baiz was hated by many. He always had people working for him and kept him hidden. He slipped through The Mandalorians fingertips without a trace. It made him go insane.
But you always told him that he would capture him eventually. You stood by him with confidence, giving him constant reassurance that Kaba Baiz would meet his demise under the hands of the Mandalorian.
He never gave up.
Even though you left.
—-
You started as allies through work. Being strung together by the Guild Master at first, hunting down a simple bounty, he caved.
He liked to work alone.
It was easier to get rid of people, kill people than to make friends. Small grumbles of yes and no through his helmet were the only responses you got over a few months as you traveled to the wanted destinations. His ship, the infamous Razor Crest, kept all the information you needed to capture the bounty. You joined because of the debt you owed to multiple people, you begged the Guild Master to give you a chance to prove yourself. They relented with weary, but not so far as trusting you because of your fickle loyalty to them. You were grateful but to what extent were you willing to go for payment?
You became an unrelenting force of nature, fighting alongside him, putting an end to his foes, or just simply making extra cash. Before the kid, and before the dark saber; just a few blasters, and running on fumes of leftover cash they made, used to spend on late-night talks at the local cantina.
You asked him what made the Mandalorians so praised by others? The hidden gem of the galaxy to do the dirty work for the higher power that couldn’t get their hands dirty. Why did he do this out of choice?
You knew he swore an oath, taking up the role of the Mandalorian. He wanted to be feared by many, to scare anyone who stepped foot in front of him. All Mandalorians had that feeling towards others, they were relentless.
He didn’t answer that question. It was the weight carried by all Mandalorians. It was their job. He never questioned it.
So you wondered why he was less intimidating? He seemed calmer than the rest, quieter, and kept to himself rather than wanting to fight you on everything you questioned about his secret life.
He wanted to consider you someone he could trust. A friend. You might have been more untamed than others he's worked with.
But it was refreshing seeing someone who cared about doing what was right. He loved your passion and your willingness to work with him. He was not easy to work with, as some people have told him over the years.
A few laughs over ale, talking about your rough encounters over the years. A few drunk confessions about their sad lives living alone. You cared for him, he felt like he could tell you anything. And he did.
“Come on Mando, they are serving free drinks tonight, you have to go.” You mumbled as you saw him sitting in his pilot seat again watching the strown lights go past each planet.
You kicked the side of his boot, arms crossed, hip jutted next to him, waiting for at least a grumble confirmation.
He said nothing. Not even a side glance from the Buckethead. You were annoyed.
“Stop worrying about what happened today. Yes, we lost the lead we had on Kaba Baiz, so what.”
A few months after you teamed up. You almost had him. Mando was furious. Someone gave up their location to friends of Kaba for tons of cash.
He had been so careful. So quiet and intricate about the plan.
You saw his hands grab the handles of the seat. That sentence made him perk up fast. He stands up to meet your gaze through his helmet, standing inches from your face.
“So what? You know how important this job was for me. For us. We won’t be able to go far with what cash we have left. I wanted him gone.”
You gently grabbed his helmet. You set your forehead on top of his metal one. Trying to ease away from his stress. He needed to let loose. Stop worrying. He was a great hunter. A trusted one.
“We both want him gone. It will just take a little longer. I believe in us.” You sighed as he pulled you into a frustrated but love-crushing hug.
“And don’t worry honey, we have money.” You smirked as you whispered into his ear. Pulling his hand near the hanger door. Skipping happily down the ramp ready for another late night with Mando…
You were always in it for the money.
He didn’t care about it. But he enjoyed your company, so he gave most of the savings to you.
Whatever made you happy.
After the miss on Baiz, you started to get antsy. You’ve never been someone who could just sit and wait. You always wanted something in your hands, always moving. Mando could sit and scope out new information easily. He knew how to be patient. He could plan things out, leaving you to tag along, ready to fight.
You couldn’t stand the criminal's name on his lips anymore. It was frustrating, always hearing about him, visiting people who knew about him. It was exhausting.
You needed to be free. You wanted to do something on your own.
So you begged him to let you stay at the nearest town you stopped at. The place where Mando could get more information about a buyer who knew someone close to Baiz.
“But why would you want to stay here? I thought you wanted to be with me?” His worried fingertips played with his blaster on the side, fingers slid through the belt loop nervously.
“Oh honey, I never want to leave you. But this could be helpful.” He looked at you confused. The razor chest was somewhere safe. He needed you safe.
“I could stay here and look around to find more information about Baiz. Since there’s someone here who’s close to him, I could try and build up a bigger lead on him.” At first, he thought that idea was iffy. He knew you could handle yourself. You were a strong hunter. That was one of the things he loved about you.
He struggled to let you go but maybe you had a point.
Your hands rested on his helmet. A fond gesture he became addicted to.
“You can follow the lead you have. We will still be in contact I promise.”
Your eyes tried to find his hidden ones. You promised him. He was loyal to you and your words.
So he let you go.
“Let me go in first,” you told him as your handheld him back on the ramp. Your hand pushed against his chest gently. Trying to reason with him.
“Why? We know he's in this building. We go in together, always.” He stated through his helmet. Over the years, you always had a system. You always went into the bust together, to protect each other.
“I know we do Mando. But the person told me that he only wanted one person to go in. I don’t need both of us getting hurt.” The hand still held over his heart on his chest. Getting him to reason with you.
“Trust me.” you pleaded. A smile started to grow on your lips. It was familiar to him. He always trusted you.
“Okay. But if you aren’t back out here in 5 minutes, there will be hell to pay.” He grumbled angrily at the situation. He was never angry at you.
“I'll be fine.” As you left a small peck at the side of his helmet. Leaving a red stain on the helmet.
He hasn’t seen your face in a few months. He hasn’t been able to hold you in his arms, to make sure you were okay. He was always worried.
“I'm fine, honey. I found a small cabin to stay in. They are nice, trusting people. They take care of me well.”
He sighed with relief. It was small but it was a start.
“How's the kid? Is he behaving well? I've never actually seen you with him. How are you doing?”
You relayed to him. A similar worried expression came from your lips as you tried to keep him with you. He was always worried about the kid.
“He's doing well. I'm trying my best but we are still working on it…maybe I should come and visit you? I’ve told him all about you. He gets excited whenever I mention you. He wants to meet you.”
“Oh, that would be amazing. Whenever you get the chance, stop by. Just promise to let me know? I've been busy with a smaller lead of Baiz for you. I know we're close, I can feel it.”
He sighed happily. He knew you were working hard to help find the criminal.
You always told him overcall.
He missed you.
“Okay, honey. Be careful.” he sighed.
He knew you were always risking your life. You were the wild one. You giggled at his worries.
“No promises.”
—-
He told you about the kid on your way over to the slaughterhouse. Catching you up on smaller details he didn’t have time to tell you over the late-night calls. Meeting new people. Wielding new weapons.
But you could see on his face he missed the kid. He was a lonely man before he met you. He was a protector. He needed someone or something he could save, know he wasn’t just a Mandalorian.
A killer.
So at least he could protect the little one. And he did.
Until the Jedi came to retrieve him. He told you the pain he went through giving him up. Trying to trust he did the right thing. Giving him to someone that knew his path, a stronger individual that knew he could protect the child.
It was one of his biggest losses. He would never forget. He's lost so much.
But at least he had you now, right?
A small explosion ripped him through his thoughts. His legs carrying him down the ramp, he saw multiple workers scattering from the building.
He started calling out your name as he ran into the smoking slaughterhouse. Running over seared rubble, trying to get through the crowd of people shoving their way through the only exit.
He yelled your name again, praying that you were okay.
He ran to the back of the building. Poker chips on the ground as the table was leaned sideways. Cut in the middle. There was no one here.
He heard a bellowing cough through a small pile of rubble.
He ran over instantly, pushing off the seared debris away from the coughing fit, he had to make sure you were okay.
But when he lifted the last piece of wood off the body, it wasn’t you.
Kaba Baiz.
The son of a bitch.
He grabbed the criminal by the collar of his shirt, blood seeping through the shirt from the sharp debris that ripped through his body.
“Where is she?” He grunted through his helmet. His teeth ground over each other, holding back till he got his answer.
“Who?” Baiz mumbled. His head was cloudy from the explosion. His hazy eyes came into focus as he saw the familiar metal suit holding him up from the ground. His laugh was nasal. Almost in a mocking tone.
“Oh her. Yeah, she's gone.”
He grabbed his collar closer.
“What do you mean gone?” He yelled.
You had to be close. He needed to find you soon.
Baiz laughed at the naive man.
“What I just said. She left. She took the money and scattered before the explosion went off.”
That doesn’t make any sense to him. You were supposed to come to get him. Of course, this guy would lie to him. He was a no-good venomous snake.
He was seething.
“You’re lying. You hid her. You took her.”
He had to be lying.
“You don’t get it. I had her. What did you think she was doing the past few months you were gone?”
You told him all about your leads on the case. Always telling him you were close to Baiz.
But he never thought you would be this close. You lied to him.
“She always wanted the money, Mando. You just couldn’t see it through your thick helmet. She didn't want you. She never wanted you.”
His grip was slipping from Baiz. He still couldn’t understand. He knew you loved to be independent. You needed your space, that's why he trusted you to stay in the town, to find more evidence.
To help him.
Baiz pushed Mando off of him, catching him when he knew he was vulnerable.
How could you do this to him? You knew how much this meant to him. You said you believed in him.
He could’ve got you all the money in the world.
Baiz kicked the Mandalorian to his back. His foot stepped over his metal-covered chest.
Mando tasted blood, he seethed with anger, rage but not because of Baiz. You stabbed his heart. He was bleeding from the chest. You were his friend, his lover, his ally.
He protected you.
But he couldn’t protect himself from you.
He pulled himself from his hazy mind, pulling out his dark saber while Baiz was fuming on his power-hungry rant about him being better than him. It was an opening.
Mando pushed the saber through the man's chest, a shocked choke came from the man's lips, blood seeped over his chin. The body fell to the ground with ease, a loud rumble came into the air.
Blood dripped from the saber, as he stood there in shock. You left him. He couldn’t feel anything but a small rumble coming from outside the building.
He slowly walked out of the building, investigating, hoping he could see you and ask you how?
How could you do this to him? But what sealed Baiz’s answer was the wind that pushed him to the wall next to the door. His Razor Crest, his ship lifting off the ground, the ramp now put away, as he saw you in the pilot’s chair. The one that you pulled him from after long nights of stress. With a crooked smile on your face, ready to celebrate with the money you earned…stolen.
You flew away with no challenge because it was familiar. It was your ship.
But it was his ship too. The one he stupidly chose to share with you.
You left him like you left his heart,
Left to bleed alone. Broke.

| draco malfoy x reader | fluff |
dad!draco is offered a position as the new coach for Scorpius’s little-league quidditch team
post-golden era fluff. it’s a bit angsty, but entirely soft dad!draco and very fluffy
Tumblr media
“Honey?” You called as you entered your shared home. The kitchen was immaculately clean and organized, and the kettle had just been put on the stove, indicating your husband was home.
Draco didn’t answer, and you hung your jacket on a hook and pulled off your boots before going further into the house. You found him sitting on the floor with your son in his bedroom. A snitch was whizzing around overhead, and you watched from the doorway, undiscovered by your two boys.
“Scorpius, are you sure you want me to do this? Your friends’ parents may say unkind things about me.” Draco told your son.
“You’re the best quidditch player, so you’ll be the best coach. My friends are nice, why would they be mean?” Scorpius asked innocently. He was only eleven, and you and Draco were preparing to send him to Hogwarts in the fall. Now though, the summer was beginning, and his junior-league quidditch team needed a new coach.
“They may be unkind because I used to be unkind, Scorpius. I made a lot of mistakes when I was young, and I hurt a lot of people. I’ve changed, and I’ve apologized, but not everyone is able to forgive me.” Draco’s tone was serious, and though he kept his voice even, you could hear the hurt behind his words. You covered your mouth with your hand, listening to the two of them.
“Why not?” Scorpius asked, trying to understand.
“There was a war, and I fought on the wrong side, along with your grandmother, and uncle Theo. That’s why daddy has the scar on his arm. I didn’t want to disappoint my father, but I knew I was doing the wrong thing. I want you to always do what you think is right, no matter what.”
“I want to be just like you, daddy, because you’re good. I’ll help everyone see that you’re good, now. I want to be forgiving, just like mum says to be.” Scorpius touched the faded dark mark, and you blinked back tears. Draco released a shaky breath, and he looked up when the kettle whistled.
“Come on, let’s make tea for mum when she gets--” Draco started, quieting when he saw you.
“I just got home. How are my boys?” You asked, clearing your throat and quickly brushing the tears from your eyes. Scorpius got up off the floor and ran into your arms, hugging your waist. You combed your fingers through white-blond curls, leaning down to gently kiss his head.
“I’m good! Daddy’s going to coach my team! And everyone’s going to love him.” Scorpius announced proudly, adding the remark at the end with a reassuring look at his father. Draco caught the snitch from the air, putting it away before walking over and kissing you.
“Hi, beautiful. I’m happy your home.”
Draco’s voice was quiet, and the three of you went to the kitchen, where Draco pulled the shrieking kettle from the stove to make you tea. You handed him earl grey tea bags, and Scorpius held up a fruit tea.
“Here, darling,” you handed him the cup before he went off with it to the living room to entertain himself with a muggle movie.
Draco watched his son go, leaning against the counter.
“You told them you’d do it?”
“They extended me the offer to coach. I’ll accept it after I drink this tea,” he answered, scratching at his scarred forearm while he waited for the tea to brew. You gently laid your hand over his arm, making him quit before he left red marks.
“I’m sorry, I’m doing better.” Draco apologized, and you leaned up and kissed him.
“I know. It’s okay, I understand that you’re nervous. But they’re right, you are very good at quidditch. And you’re patient and sweet, so you’ll be great with the children.”
A small smile pulled at his lips, and he pulled you into a hug. The two of you finished making your tea before joining Scorpius in the living room, where he was intently watching a disney film.
“Mum, look, they do magic like we do!” Scorpius pointed to the fairies on the screen.
“I see, darling.” You smiled sweetly, sitting down on the couch. Draco sat behind you, pulling you to lean back against his chest. He sipped his tea and read from a novel, and you watched the film with your son.
Draco sent a letter with an owl to accept the coaching position, and you soothed his worries.
“Go shower before bed, Scorpius,” you excused your son from dinner, smiling as he thanked you for the food before running off. You and Draco had raised a brilliant, sweet, and loving son. Draco was a fantastic father, and it warmed your heart to see.
“I’m going to run out for a bit. I’ll be back, my love.” Draco kissed your head before slipping on his coat and leaving. He didn’t need to say where he was going, you knew. Whenever Draco was overwhelmed, he went to Cedric Diggory’s grave to leave flowers. They had been deeply close before he was killed during your fourth year, and Draco left flowers at his grave, more regularly after his father passed.
“Mum!” You went off to see to Scorpius, who was sat on his bed. The pretend stars Draco had put all over the ceiling, glowed softly, making his white hair shine. It fell it wet curls over his face, and you giggled at him, picking up a brush from the dresser.
“Where’s daddy?” he asked as you brushed his hair.
“He went out for a bit. I’ll send him in to tell you goodnight when he’s home.”
“I’m excited for him to coach.”
“I know, he’s excited too. You’ve got to be gentle with him though, okay?”
“I’m always gentle, mum.”
You pulled him into your arms at that, kissing his head and cradling his small body to yours.
“I know, darling.”
You slipped into one of Draco’s old Slytherin quidditch sweaters, getting ready for their first game. It would get warm in the summer, but it was still cool enough that you could be comfortable in the knit.
Draco tied Scorpius’s hair out of his face, into a little bun on top of his head before the three of you apparated to the park.
“Have fun, my loves.” You kissed Draco and waved to Scorpius before joining the other parents in the stands. You’d all been on the team together since the children were toddlers, though you knew that you, Draco, Theo, and his wife were all a bit outcasted from the rest as a group. You hoped it would be better with Draco as the coach, and you were thankful that Harry and Hermione both endorsed him with the other parents.
“Y/N!” Hermione smiled, hugging you tightly as you walked up into the stands. Despite being in Slytherin, you two had been study partners at Hogwarts, and had continued to be friends as adults. She and Harry had warmed up to Draco through her friendship with you, but Ron was always apprehensive.
“Scorpius looks so grown with his hair up! Like Draco,” She grinned, and you agreed. Her daughter, Rose looked older too, and was much taller than the summer before.
“Hi, Neville.” You smiled as he and Luna sat down beside you.
“Y/N,” he nodded, returning your smile politely.
You wrapped your arms around yourself, tracing the knit on Draco’s sweater, and you watched him reign in the excited children. Everyone was watching. He cheered on the children when they did well, earning smiles.
Their practice lasted almost two hours, and everyone was chattering about the students going to Hogwarts in the fall.
“I know that my daughter is a hufflepuff.” Theodore said to you, making you giggle.
“Yeah? I agree.”
“I’m proud of her too.” Theo added, making a couple turn.
“Scorpius will likely be a slytherin.”
Your friends agreed, and when the practice finished, you all went to the field.
Draco was incredibly proud of all of the students, and he praised their efforts. He grinned as Asteria Longbottom ran up and threw her arms around Scorpius’s neck, giggling at their success as seekers.
“Daddy, can Asteria come to play? I want to show her one of the muggle movies.” Scorpius begged him.
“It’s up to Asteria and her parents. They’re always welcome.” Draco answered, looking up at you as you walked up, followed by Neville and Luna.
“Mum, can I go, please?” Asteria begged, and Draco spoke up.
“Neville, Luna, we’ve been baking this morning, we’d love to have you for tea. Asteria can play with Scorpius.” He looked shy as he spoke to the couple who had been wary of him, even before the war.
“Yes, alright.” Neville nodded, and you smiled.
“Thank you, Mister Malfoy!” Rose Weasley called, along with Albus Potter.
“Certainly, Miss Weasley. You did exceptionally today.” He waved at her, and Ron’s gaze softened.
“Shall we?” You asked, taking Luna’s hand as the six of you apparated back to your home. The kitchen smelled of the pastries that you and Draco had spent the morning making while Scorpius had read about quidditch strategies at the table, the book now discarded.
“Show Asteria your films.” You told Scorpius with a smile.
“Asteria, you’re welcome to anything in our home if you’re hungry, Scorpius can show you,” Draco said kindly.
“Thank you, Mister Malfoy,” She said with a grin, and Luna and Neville watched her run out in giggles with her friend.
You had a seat around the table, the pastries and teas appearing in front of you.
“Neville, I heard you’ll be teaching Herbology at Hogwarts starting this term?” Draco asked, making him smile and easing a bit of the tension.
“Yes, I’m quite looking forward to it. Though, I hope they’ll like me.”
“I’m sure they’ll love you. You will be a wonderful professor. You always were much better than me at herbology. Scorpius has been saying that he’s excited for you to teach him. Hopefully he’s a better student than I at it.” Draco laughed, and Neville’s smile was genuine.
“And you? Will you coach quidditch at the school after this summer gig.”
“No, likely not. I quite enjoy working for Hermione Granger at the Ministry.”
The four of you chattered over several cups of tea and pastries, completely losing track of time as the tension melted and bridges were built.
“I’m so sorry, but we have dinner plans.” Luna apologized.
“No worries, thank you for coming. You’re all always welcome. Asteria too,” you smiled, squeezing the girl’s shoulder.
“Thank you. We’d love to have you at ours sometime too.”
Once they were gone and Scorpius was fed, you spent time with your husband, laying on top of your pile of pillows and duvet.
“I loved it, Y/N. They’re so sweet and it was so much fun to teach them.” Draco was beaming, and it warmed your heart.
“You’re such a great coach, the students loved you. And their parents will too. And most importantly, I love you.” You held his face and kissed him, giggles erupting between the two of you at your cheesy sweetness.
“I love you too.”

Words: 7.1k
-*-*-*-*-*
Like every morning, Grogu wakes you up, his big ears tickle your legs under your blanket. You give him a gentle kiss on his head and stretch yourself. The sun is already shining through the white curtains of your hut and you can hear the people outside talking.
"Let's see what the day will bring." You get out of bed, adjust your wide sleeping shirt and drive your hands through your hair a few times to unknot them. Then you lift Grogu and open the door.
As you take a step outside, you are immediately illuminated by the sun. A warm wind runs around your bare legs. You blink because the sun dazzles so much and then you make your way to the kitchen hut. Some children ask directly if they can play with Grogu. "No, no, first we’ll get our breakfast."
Once you reach your destination, you prepare Grogu and you a plate of delicious food. "So my darling, now we're looking for a nice place to eat." Back outside the hut you walk to one of the water basins. You love it just to sit here in the tall grass and look at the water. There was nothing like this on Nevarro. You carefully sit down at the edge of the pool and let your feet dangle in the cool water. Grogu is sitting next to you and is already eating. You smile at him and take a fruit from the plate. It tastes sweet and juicy. You look up into the blue sky and close your eyes, birds chirp in the trees of the forest that borders the village. You breathe deeply, the time here is so good for you.
When you open your eyes again, your gaze falls directly on him. Mando. He stands a few feet away on the edge of the forest and looks exactly in your direction. It looks so surreal. He doesn't fit into this environment at all. You could imagine that he scares away all the birds in the area because they are deterred by his shiny appearance.
You smile at him. Even if there are many feet between you, you know that he still sees it. Any function in his helmet will already allow him to do so.
He walks along between the water basins until he reaches you. Grogu squeaks with joy when he sees him. Mando is behind you and you let yourself fall on your back into the grass, looking at him from the ground.
"Did you find the quarry?"
Mando nods. "Everything done. Are you allright?"
You smile. "It's fantastic. You should consider going on vacation here." Then you sit upright and paddle through the water with your feet. "There is even water here, Mando. On Nevarro we only have lava..."
"If you want, we can stay a few more days."
You turn your head backwards. "Really? Oh, that would be great." You can't imagine how Mando should integrate into the village life, but you can't refuse this offer.
Mando nods and walks into the village. You have to smile, because you know that there will be a small festival tonight. You're looking at Grogu. "Oh Maker, he won't like that." You laugh out loud.
__________
You spend the day again with the local, who teaches you a bit how to fight. After some time you see that Mando is watching you from a distance. You're calling him. "Come here, I'll show you what I've learned."
He tilts his head and tells your training partner that he can leave.
"You challenge me?" He speaks with his typical monotonous voice, which does not betray emotions.
"I...if I'm honest, I'm already afraid of your voice." You take a step back intimidated and stumble over a stone.
"What's going on? Are you shy, Angel?" Mando approaches you with slow steps.
You shake your head. "Because of a guy like you? Never."
"Then show me what you do if a guy like me gets too close to you" He is right in front of you now. If he hadn't have a helmet on, you could feel his breath on your forehead.
You quickly think about a tactic, but Maker, you're like in trance. You lift your hand and put it on his helmet in the place of his cheek. Your eyes are reflected in his visor. The next moment he grabs your wrist and kicks your legs with his foot so that you lose your balance and fall on the soft ground with full force.
"Ouch!" You didn't expect that. Mando stands above you.
"If you have always trained like this over the last few days, maybe I should speak a serious word to your training partner. Was it a training for flirting?"
Now he has awakened your ambition. When he wants to help you up, you roll away from him and jump back on your feet. You ball your fists and hold them in front of your body. "Don't touch me again, Mandalorian."
Mando tilts his head and tries to grab you, but you skillfully dodge him and punch him on his upper arm, where there is no armor. "Quite unfair to let a girl fight against a fully armored man."
"Then you have to get creative." Mando waves with his hands and asks you to attack him. You hit him a few times, but he always manages to block your attacks. He's just too fast for you.
So you have to come up with something else. You get a quick overview of your surroundings and see a small tree trunk not far away behind Mando. You hit him a few more times while he walks back a few steps and give him the feeling that he is defeating you.
When the tree trunk is close enough behind him, you say a quiet "Sorry!" Then you kick him the side with full force, exactly where he had the huge injury. The scar has now healed, but you are sure that the place still hurts enough to distract him. And so it is. He moans and fluctuates briefly. You use this moment to jump over the tree trunk and at the same time reach for his cloak. You pull it with full strength as you land on your feet and your plan works. Mando stumbles backwards over the tree trunk and hits the ground right in front of you.
You swing one leg over his body and sit on his stomach, his forearms clamped under your knees. Of course, he could shake you off easily, but he lets you enjoy your win.
"Not bad Angel." He moans, still trapped under you. You blow your hair off your face and bend forward, so that your face is right in front of his helmet. "Tonight there will be a small festival in the village Mandalorian, you will come with me, whether you like it or not."
A slight nod comes from Mando. "Everything you want Angel."
You laugh and climb down from him. That was funny.
__________
When the evening comes and the blue sky changes at dusk, the villagers begin to prepare everything for the celebration. Once a year, they thank the universe for their good harvest in this way.
You are sitting leaning against a tree trunk in front of the campfire. Food is grilled, the children play with Grogu. Burning torches are set up everywhere, which make the whole village glitter. The men wear traditional costumes, while the women wear wonderful dresses. It's beautiful.
Suddenly a black figure moves towards you and you have to look twice to realize that it is Mando. He wears black trousers, a black long-sleeved shirt and of course his helmet. You stare at him as he sits next to you. He doesn't wear gloves, he doesn't even carry a weapon with him.
Of course, Mando notices your gaze immediately. „The village elder asked me to take off the armor during the festival. This is a peaceful celebration and I accept their traditions."
You are still staring at him and he turns his head in your direction. "Are you ok?"
"Ehm...yes...yes, of course." You quickly look back at the campfire. Sure, you already saw him without his armor, but that was on the Crest. Here you are outside, it's completely dark around you. You don't know what kind of connection he has to this village, but there seems to be a lot of trust. And of course you are not quite altruistic, Mando without armor, you like that very much.
More and more people join you and you have really nice conversations. You will be given food and Mando, of course, thankfully refuses. It feels great to be here. With him. Just enjoying the moment. Like it would be the most normal thing in the galaxy.
"Are you feeling better?" You ask him quietly. You didn't forget the conflict that was between you a few days ago.
Mando takes a deep breath. "Yes...I think so." He puts an arm around you and caresses your shoulder with his thumb. You slide closer to him and lean your head against his shoulder. You feel the warmth of his skin through the black fabric and close your eyes. Maker, what is he doing to you? You would have had every other guy atone for how he treated you the days on the ship. You are far too proud to run after a stubborn man. But it's different with Mando, you can't explain why.
"I missed you. Not only the days here in the village, but also on the ship when you rejected me for days." You say, as you feel tears gather in your eyes.
Mando groans. "I hurt you again. I promised you that I wouldn't do it anymore and yet I hurt you again with my behavior."
You shake your head. "And even if, I don't care. You're back, that‘s what matters." Why do you say that? Fuck, of course he hurt you and it does fucking matter. You saved his ass and he treated you like shit for days. What's wrong with you Angel?
"I want you to understand why I am the way I am." His voice comes calmly through the modulator while you both look into the campfire. "I don't know the kind of feelings I have for you. A person has never been important to me in the way you are." Fuck, and there he has you. You melt because of his words, like ice that is too close to the fire. You have a weakness for him, even if he probably doesn't know that.
You push your head tighter against him. "Is that good or bad now?"
Mando's voice immediately shows you that he is smiling. "I guess it's good."
"But…why did you reject me so much? I don't understand." You raise your head to look into his visor, but he looks further into the fire.
„Because I'm not good for you. Look at me, I'm a bounty hunter. I'm murdering. I am cruel. I'm getting hurt. I am constantly surrounded by dangers. And then there is my creed. I'm not a…" You grab his helmet and pull it in your direction. His words hit you like a lightning right in your heart. This tall, strong, terrifying Mandalorian actually has self-doubt and even admits it openly to you.
"You are the best thing that has ever happened to me in my cursed life Mando. Don't you see that? You gave me a new life outside of Nevarro. You protect me. You make me feel needed. You, Grogu and I...you said we’re a clan…your clan."
"Do you really want that? Can you live like that?" His hand lies on your cheek and you lean slightly into it. His skin is so warm and it feels like time is standing still when he brushes his thumb over your cheekbone.
You nod. "I would follow you everywhere. You just have to allow it, Mando."
You love how the fire is reflected in the Beskar of his helmet and enjoy the touch of his warm hand on your face. Mando sighs. Your words are probably the most important thing he has ever heard. How can a young woman prefer to lead a life in a spaceship? Constantly on the go and in danger. With a bounty hunter who is always in trouble and his little child, who is wanted by the empire. Are you really serious?
And then he looks into your eyes. The fire is reflected in them and makes them shine even more than they already do. The way you look at him through the visor, as no one has ever done before you. The honesty and determination in your gaze leaves no doubt. You're serious.
"I want you to call me by my real name from today. But you can only use it if no one else is around us. Grogu is ok, otherwise no one is allowed to know. Okay?"
Your eyes are getting big, you know what significance this step has for him and you are feeling so honored. You two have talked about Mandalorians a few times before and you know something about their rules. Ok, you asked him and Mando gave his typical concise answers. But it was enough to give you an idea of the background of the warrior, you like so much.
You nod. "Of course, I promise you."
"My…-" Mando starts when suddenly a hand grabs your arm. "Come on Angel, we have a surprise for you!" One of the women from the village pulls you on your feet and you can only take a frightened look at Mando before you leave him alone.
__________
You are in a hut with four other women. "Here, we have a gift for you." She is holding a dress. It is white, wide cut, has a lot of lace and embellishments. Before you know it, you've already put it on. You look in a mirror. The dress is the dream of a sundress. The lace sleeves are long and wide, it has a wide neckline with many decorations and is floor-length. It's beautiful. You've never worn anything like this before.
"Now the hair!" You are put on a bed and two women begin to braid some strands of your long, blond hair. "You will be the most beautiful woman in the village." Says Lydia, one of your new friends. "But why? Why are you doing this?" You are completely taken by surprise. "Well, do you think we don't notice that between you and the Mandalorian? We think this evening is so perfect, you have to use it." She winks and you blush when you notice that half the village has probably been watching you.
Your cheeks get hot when you think of Mando. A few minutes ago, he opened up for you like you never thought it would be possible and you have butterflies in your stomach when you think of his words. Is there really something between both of you that can grow into something bigger? The women around you are gossipping, but you hardly notice that. Your thoughts are only with him.
When you are finally allowed to stand up and step in front of the mirror, you are speechless. Small, white flowers were braided into your hair. Together with your dress, you almost look like a bride. Everyone marvels at you. "I don't know what to say. You are crazy! I look like...like..."
"...a princess!" Lydia laughs. "You have been so kind to us for the last few days and have helped us with everything here. We just want to give you something back. See it as a small thank you."
Suddenly you listen to music. Lydia laughs. "Now we're dancing princess." She takes your hand and pulls you outside. Some of the men have instruments and play a beautiful traditional song. Lydia pulls you behind her and you laugh out loud because you have absolutely no idea what you're doing right now. But she makes you understand that you should just dance the way you want to. You hold your hands, dance and laugh in the firelight of the torches.
__________
Mando is still sitting before the tree trunk in front of the campfire. His gaze is constantly directed at the door you disappeared behind. His heart is still burning from your conversation. He is happy that you have finally getting a little closer and that you apparently feel the same way as he does.
Finally, the door of the hut opens and he can't believe his eyes. Even over the distance, he recognizes you immediately when you leave the hut between the other women. His mouth stands out with amazement and he is thankful that his helmet is hiding his face right now. Your hair is floating in the air through your movements, this wonderful dress that fits perfectly with your figure, the way you move rhythmically to the music and how your skin shines in the firelight. Everything around him seems to be moving in slow motion. He swallows loudly, he has never seen anything more beautiful than you. You shine like a supernova.
__________
You laugh loudly while moving with the others to the beat of the music. Again and again you look at Mando, his gaze is on you all the time. You enjoy the moment, the music, the dancing, the warm air, the laughter, just everything.
At some point, the music changes and a slow melody is played. Lydia looks at you and nods her head towards Mando. "Get it!" You grin mischievously and hug her. "Thank you! Thank you for everything."
You turn around and walk into Mando's direction. You can't get the smile out of your face anymore. When you finally stand in front of him, you extend your hand to him. "May I have this dance, Mandalorian?"
He can't say no, not if you stand in front of him in this outfit, on that evening, in this atmosphere. So he stands up. "I...I can't dance." He apologizes. But you pull him towards you and put your arms over his shoulders and his hands are on your hips.
You are smiling. "Well, it's okay."
So you‘re standing there, the warmth from the campfire surrounds you. Slowly you shift from one foot to the other to the sound of the wonderful music. Are you dreaming? Have you just actually convinced a Mandalorian, the most stubborn person you've ever met, to dance with you? Do you have superpowers? You look up into his visor.
"How do you always do that?" Finally, Mando asks.
You frown questioningly.
"You always look directly in my eyes. Since we first met. As if my helmet wasn't there at all. I…I have never experienced anything like this before."
You smile at him. "I don't know. I just look at you. I just see you, the human, not your helmet." You notice that your cheeks brush and lean your head shyly to his chest.
"Look at me, Angel. Look at me the way you always do." You stand straight again and Mando caresses your cheek while his other hand is still lying on your hip. Your eyes are back on his visor.
"You look beautiful." His thumb wanders over your cheek and you notice how a swarm of butterflies flies straight through your stomach. How does he always manage to make you so nervous with one touch?
"Thank you. I didn't know they were planning to do this." You admit.
"You are always beautiful, no question, but when you just got out of this hut...I…I think my heartbeat stopped for a second."
You laugh helplessly, you get dizzy with embarrassment. "Oh Mando, I-"
"Din! My name is Din. Din Djarin."
You smile. What a wonderful name.
"Din Djarin, it is an honor to spend this evening with you." You put your head back on his chest. His arms wrap around you and pull you firmly against his body. He smells so incredibly good. You breathe in his scent deeply.
After some time in this position, his arms loosen and he grabs your hand. "Come with me!" You walk towards your hut, when you see Lydia you just say "Grogu!" to her briefly and she nods. "I have an eye on him, princess."
___________
Once you arrive at the hut, you close the door behind you. Din is standing in the middle of the room and looking at you. "I can't believe how beautiful you are."
You smile and slowly approach him. „And I can't believe you're standing in front of me without your armor. Din Djarin. Mandalorian. Warrior." Your hands touch his shoulders and slide down over his collarbones, on his chest you stop and feel his heartbeat intensively under your palms. Your eyes do not deviate from his visor.
Din hums quietly. "I’m everything you want. What did Lydia just call you? Princess? I'll make you a fucking queen if you let me." The next moment he has his hands under your thighs and lifts you up. You laugh loud. He carries you to the bed, lies you carefully down on it and kneels between your legs. Then he slowly bends over you. "Would you do me a favor?"
You nod. "Whatever you want." Your body is burning with desire. You realize that you wanted exactly that all the time. The many weeks you have teased each other, the moments of dispute, the silence. All this were small parts that reflect the development of your relationship. You just never consciously thought about it, because everything was just so absurd. The both of you? You and this stubborn man in armor?
"I want to take off my helmet to kiss you. But...you know...I can't show you my-" "Blindfold my eyes! That would be kind of sexy." You interrupt him with a blink. And in that moment he is sure that you are exactly the naughty girl he always saw in you. He sees the fire in your eyes, the same one you always have when you tease him, when you touch him.
A soft moan comes through the modulator. "That's exactly what I wanted to hear."
He grabs your sleeping shirt and tears off a thin strip of fabric. You look at him indignantly, but before you can grumble, his index finger is on your lips. "You won't need a shirt as long as you sleep in my arms, Angel."
You feel like you're melting through his words. What is he doing to you? Is that really the man you've been traveling with for weeks now? If you had known that he had such a side, you could not have slept peacefully at night.
Your eyes are blindfolded and shortly afterwards you hear the heavy helmet being placed on the floor. It is numbing, the feeling, not to see what he is doing, how he moves. Heat passes through your body and you can feel his gaze almost on your trembling body.
You have never had such an experience before. Sure, you had sex with strange guys from the Cantina every now and then, but you never trusted blindly, never gave up control. And above all, it never really felt like it is now. And Din knows that, he feels it and he feels the same way. The occasional fucks in dark alleys with cheap women were only used to relieve, or to reduce his frustration. Never in his life he had anything like this now, sex to express his passion, to pay tribute to his counterpart. To do something good for his soul.
"Fuck, you are so beautiful. Thank you for allowing me to look at you without having to look through the visor." Then he takes your hands and leads them to his face. You feel his cheeks, slight stubble of his beard. Caress his soft lips and smile as you feel his mustache. You reach into his hair, it‘s so soft, longer than you thought and slightly curly. A short moan comes out of his mouth as you strengthen the grip in his hair.
"Kiss me Din!" You whisper full of lust. The way his name comes over your beautiful lips makes him shudder. It sounds like music in his ears. How long has he not heard his name and now you are saying it in such a wonderful way. And then he does what you want him to do. When his lips touch yours, it's like there were fireworks in your heads. His mouth fits perfectly on yours and he kisses you as if he needed it to survive. When you bite his lower lip slightly, he moans. His warm tongue pushes into your mouth and reveals his irresistible taste to you. You don't know, but it's the first time he‘s kissing. And he is sure that he never wants to kiss anyone one other than you. It was worth the wait all the years. You are his reward, you are the fate he has been waiting for. He never knew he was even waiting for something like that, but right now it all makes sense. You‘re the reason he believes in fate, you‘re his paradise.
Your hands slide under his shirt and you slowly stroke up with your fingernails. Maker, he has more muscles on his back than you on your entire body. Din directly gets goosebumps and purrs quietly against your skin. Then he moves away from you for a short time to take off his shirt. You bite your lower lip when you notice that he is pulling down your already wet panties.
"If I do something you don't want, tell me." He says with his voice full of passion. He doesn't get more than a "Hmm.." from you in response.
When he lies above you again, his lips meet yours and you put your arms around his neck. And as he presses his hard cock against you, you both moan into each others mouth. A hand strokes your thigh again and moves further up until it reaches your wet center. Din groals, while his fingers slide through your wet folds. "Oh fuck, that's how much you want me?"
You nod and bite your lip with excitement. "Yes, Din...I want to feel you...please." You lift your hips a bit and he lets two fingers slide into you. What's wrong with you? You never begged a guy to fuck you. And now? The moment is so perfect, you are so full of pleasure. All you want is to feel his hard cock inside you.
"I want to fuck you in this beautiful dress, okay Angel?" You can hear from Din's voice how aroused he is.
"Yes, take what you want. I'm all yours."
Din growls as he opens his pants and his hard cock jumps out. "Say that again and I'll cum right away."
You blindly reach for his head and pull him towards you. You kiss him deeply while he rubs the swollen head of his cock through your folds. "Fuck me Din Djarin. I‘m yours." You moan in his mouth. And with a loud groan, he pushes his hard length into you. You grab into his hair, Din thrusts you gently but deeply and it's the best feeling you've ever had.
Your bodies are made for each other, two puzzle pieces that were just waiting to be connected. Your hands slide up and down his body while he tenderly stretchs your cunt out, a little further with each push. The sound that your wet cunt makes with his cock sliding in and out is just exhilarating.
"Stars, you are so tight, Angel. You feel so perfect…hot…s-so fucking wet. I-I can't..."
You push up your hips so that he slides into you with another angle. So he hits a point deep inside you that makes you moan with every thrust. Until now, you didn't even know that this point existed, but you are sure that this place in your body is only destined for Din.
You have to concentrate on getting not too loud, but Maker, you notice how you are about to come. "Fuck...Din...Din..." - "Yes Angel...show me how much you want me. Let my cock feel it." And his words give you the last impulse that you need to come. It feels like the stars from the hyperspace are chasing through your head. Never before you had such a liberating orgasm, so intense, so overwhelming, so long.
The way your pussy contracts and gets even tighter around his dick, together with the bury of your fingernails in his shoulders also brings Din over the edge. He spilled his release inside of you with every thrust he makes. His head buries on your neck as he quietly moans your name. Your bodies tremble with excitement as his thrusts slow down. You caress his hair while he kisses your neck and breathes hastily.
"Maker....that...was..." "-incredible." He completes your sentence.
He turns you to the side and is now lying behind you. Then he slowly removes your blindfold and whispers "Don't turn around." in your ear. "I would like to smell your scent a little more before I put my helmet back on." He cuddles up to you and wraps his arm around you.
"Everything you want!" You murmur and enjoy its warmth on your back, his slowly softening cock on your ass.
It's quiet for a few minutes, then Din whispers "Thank you for respecting me for who I am."
You grab his hand and pull it to your face to kiss the back of his hand. "You are strange Din. You are stubborn. You are silent. You are a man behind an armor." After each sentence, you press a kiss on his hand. "But you are also loving. You are emphatic. You are tender. You are honest. And I like every single side of you."
"Wow." Din is speechless. He kisses your back, buries his face in your hair and breathes in. He is sure that it was the right step to reveal his feelings to you.
That was a perfect evening. You relax in Din's strong arms and are almost asleep when he disappears briefly to get Grogu from Lydia.
_________
When you wake up the next morning, the bed next to you is empty. You raise your head and look through the hut, but Grogu is also not there. So you quickly slip into your clothes and go outside. You look around and discover Din and Grogu sitting at the fireplace. Grogu has a well-filled plate of food in front of him.
When you arrive at the two, you smile. "Good morning. Was I allowed to sleep in today?" You sit next to Grogu and take a fruit from his plate. Din is sitting opposite you, a few feet away. "Thought you deserve it." he says, making your cheeks blush. Din is fully dressed in his Beskar again and you can hardly imagine that there is the man under it who was so tender to you yesterday. The morning sun is shining on your body and you can hear some birds chirping. You love this peacefully place. It almost feels like home.
You are reaching for a fruit of Grogus plates again when there is a loud bang and a plasma shot hits the tree trunk right next to you, makes the wood splinter. You still don't understand what's happening when Din is already standing, looking into the forest from which the shot was fired. He turns his head towards you and shouts "Take Grogu...to the hut!" At this very moment, another plasma shot shoots past him at you.
The pain hits you with full force and you squint your eyes out of reflex. "Fuck, what the hell?" Someone drag you back over the tree trunk. When you open your eyes, you see that it's Lydia. She has Grogu in her arms. "Come on! We have to get out of here! RUN!" You stumble on your feet and run behind Lydia into the closest hut.
When the door closes behind you, you notice that Din is missing. "Mando!" You shout and want to open the door to run outside, but Lydia and another woman are holding you back. They push you on a chair. "I have to look at your arm Angel. This must be taken care of." And then you notice what she means. The pain you feel, the incredible burning in your arm.
You look down at yourself and your right arm is completely full of blood. Tears shoot into your eyes with sheer pain as Lydia moves your arm to look at the wound. Your ears rustle and everything in your field of view begins to blur. „Lydia...I'm so dizzy.“ You hardly hear your own words and start to fluctuate.
You can hear Lydia sending the other woman in the hut away to get a medipack, when you look at your arm again. You can feel your warm blood running down your forearm, spreading over your fingers and then dripping onto the ground. There is already a red puddle under you.
„Mando…I need Man…“
Then everything turns black.
__________
"Take Grogu...to the hut!" Is all Din can shout at you before he sees you being hit by a shot. Helplessly, he has to watch your body shake through the force of the hit and your face realizing the pain.
He is in a dilemma. What an incredibly fucking feeling. He wants to keep you and Grogu safe and take care of your injury. He wants to be with you to take away your pain, to give you what you gave him when he was hurt. But he also wants to find the asshole that hurt you, who is probably looking for Grogu and threatens all of you, his clan. He want to make this bastard suffer for everything that has happened in the last few seconds. He wants revenge.
Before he has decided, he sees Lydia with you and Grogu and this gives him the reason to disappear into the forest. He turns on a function of his helmet to scan the environment for living beings when he hears another shot. Then he runs off.
A few feet away he meets Cara Dune, an old friend of him, in front of her lies a corpse. "I could have imagined that you had something to do with it." Cara welcomes Din. He sighs, angry about the fact that the bastard was not killed by him. Everything before his eyes gets black and he breathes heavily. He knows what is happening now and there is no way to stop it. He is no longer master of his senses when he begins to kick the corpse. He‘s kicking with his heavy boots, over and over again against the lifeless body and hides everything around him. Only when Cara shoots a warning shot into the sky he stops. Breathing heavily, he stands next to the lifeless body as if he is intoxicated. He had such moments again and again in his life. Uncontrolled anger that puts him in a kind of intoxication and lets him do things that he can‘t control. A state that makes him fear himself.
Cara looks at him questioningly, but knows the Mandalorian well enough not to ask questions. He wouldn't answer them anyway. She had already helped Din a few times and lives here on Sorgan. Together they search through the dead man and find a tracker. Din is looking at Cara. "I think this was a mercenary of Moff Gideon. He wants to intimidate us."
Cara just shrugs her shoulders and smiles. "Well, then he must come up with something better."
It's exactly at this moment that Din remembers what he had suppressed the past minutes. "Angel!" He throws the tracker on the ground and destroys it with a firm kick. "Thank you for your help Cara! I have to go!" He runs back towards the village and leaves behind a bewildered Cara.
He runs as fast as his feet carry him and is annoyed that his jetpack is lying on the Crest. He had supplanted it when he saw the dead body, but now he sees it over and over again, the image of you, shot, with pain and fear in your eyes. He shouldn't have left. No. Cara was there and had shot him anyway. Why did he just leave you alone? Why?
When he arrives at the village, there is a great unrest. Many residents walk around excitedly. He tries to reassure everyone who cross his path. Then he discovers Lydia's son. "Your mother…where is she?" The boy is pointing to a hut. "There…she's in there." "Thank you! Tell your friends they don't need to be afraid anymore. It's all good!“
When he enters the hut, Din directly notices the blood on the floor. It's of course not a new sight for him, he had probably already seen more blood in his life than everyone else here. But knowing that this is your blood gives him a thick knot in his stomach.
Lydia sits at a bed and turns to him. "So good to see you. What or who was that?" Din shakes his head tired. "Someone who wants the child. He is dead, you are not in danger. We...we will disappear as soon as...“ His breath catches. „How is she?"
Din takes a step towards the bed and Lydia gets up. Now he can see your face. You are not conscious, your skin is pale, all the beautiful skin tones that your face normally has have almost disappeared. Grogu sits on your blanket and cuddles up to you. His ears hang down and he looks at Din with sad eyes.
"She lost a lot of blood..." Lydia looks anxiously at Din. "I...I managed to stop the bleeding, but she’s weak." "Bacta, we need Bacta." Din interrupts her and Lydia nods. "We don't have any here, but I sent someone to the neighboring village to get some. He should be back in the next few minutes." She sighs exhausted. "Sit down Mando, she will sense that you are here. I'll calm down the others for so long and see where the Bacta is."
Din nods and sits down next to you on the bed. He caress Grogu's head. "Thank you for being with her, little one." Then he takes your hand. "Angel, I'm here. I'm back, do you hear? Please don't be afraid. I won't leave your side until you wake up, you hear? But please…please stay strong." He looks at your arm, the wound has been bandaged, but the rest of the skin is red colored by your blood. Now he knows how you must have felt when he came back from the hunt seriously injured. This helplessness, the pain, everything feels like he is stunned.
He takes off a glove and puts his hand on your face. You are cold, cold and pale. The only sign of life is your slowly moving chest, up and down, up and down, up and down. He concentrates fully on this movement, holds your hand and caresses your face.
When the door opens, he shrugs, he was fully concentrated on your weak breath. The Bacta is there. Finally. Lydia puts your blanket aside and pulls down your pants a bit. Then she injects the bacta into your thigh. "Now we have to wait. That's all we can do…"
Hours pass...
__________
That's good, whatever caresses your face, it calms you down. "Hmmm..." You notice how dry your throat is and don't get any sound out of your mouth. But the caress on your forehead stops when you hear your name. "Angel…finally! Angel, can you hear me?" You recognize the modulated voice immediately and open your eyes. It's bright, way too bright. You see blurred outlines in front of you. After you blink a few times, you see him. The Mandalorian. Your Mandalorian. "Hey…" Your voice is rough and you feel terrible. "What…? Where are we?"
Din takes your hand. "We are still on Sorgan, you were shot. Lydia saved you." You slowly raise your head to look down at yourself and see Grogu sleeping next to you. "Is the little one doing well? Who...who was that?" Exhausted, you drop your head back on the pillow.
"Grogu is doing well. Don't worry about it, I'll tell you everything later. You need to rest even further before we leave. I'll get you something to drink."
You close your eyes again. All your thoughts are completely confused. Leave? Where? Why so fast? You can't think clearly and fell asleep again before Din is back.
__________
When you wake up again, it's dark. Your hand twitches and you notice that Din is holding it. You look through the room, a few candles burn, then you look at the helmet which is so familiar to you. "You're still here, Mando." Din nods. "How are you?"
You try to sit and Din supports you with his hand. "Cautious!" You look at him sleepily. "I think I feel better."
Din takes a strand of hair off your face. "Then the Bacta did its job." You look at the bandage on your arm. It's clean, Din carefully cleaned it when you slept. "You have lost a lot of blood. The shot seems to have hit an artery. You were lucky that Lydia acted so quickly."
You sigh. "Was that Moff Gideon?" Din shakes his head and has to smile. "No, if he had been done this..." He stops. "But I'm sure it was a vermin that he commissioned to find the child and intimidate us."
You laugh tired. "Well, he probably succeeded in that." But Din shakes his head. "No! He didn't intimidate us. He only reminded us that we are at war. And he showed me that I have to work harder to protect you and Grogu." His body straightens up and you hear from his voice how determined he is. His posture shows you: Right now he is not Din, he is Mando, the fearless bounty hunter who is stop at nothing for what is important to him.
"Come on, I'll help you get up and then I'll take you to the Crest. We have to go on."

A/N: Hello! Did you know it’s Disney day with the HBC? I wrote this one for @the-ce-horniest-book-club with Chris Evans and his family, with a reader tag along 😂

It wasn’t the first time today you were cursing to yourself; it wasn’t even the second time. You started to lose count after about the fifth or tenth ride, you couldn’t really remember. But when you heard the words “Single rider here! Single rider!” again, you clenched your fists, willing yourself not to cause a scene and punch the annoying ride attendant.
“I’ll ride with her!” came a loud voice. You cringed and looked away as the person settled into the seat next to you. Their thigh grazed yours and you couldn’t but feel a sliver of heat race down your spine. The ride started almost instantly and you breathed a small sigh of relief as the ride slowly plunged you into darkness.
The ride went by in a blur as you dipped, turned, and catapulted around amid bursts of lights, eerie shadows, and what you thought was just the tiniest hint of the “Star Wars” theme song. The thigh next to you bumped into you a few times, always accompanied by that race of heat. The ride finally ended, pulling into the unloading station and you chanced a glance to your left.
Your jaw dropped as you stared at the arms stretched out next to you; your gaze traveled up the arms and up to the familiar face of one Chris Evans, his ball cap turned backward on his head. He shot you a quick smile before grabbing his cap and turning it back around; he looked back to you. “Enjoy the ride?” He stood up, extending his hand in assistance to you. You took his hand, knees shaking slightly, but not from the ride.
“I did; haven’t been on it since I was a kid, but I still love it,” you told him with a rueful grin. “Thanks.” You stepped off the ride, knees buckling just a bit more. Chris held onto your hand for another moment.
“You okay there?”
You took a deep breath and relaxed, still holding onto his hand. “A little embarrassed but fine.” You dropped his hand to gesture back towards the ride. “Maybe I’m getting a little too old for this though.”
He chuckled at your statement. “Never! You can’t be that old anyway. Why you ridin’ solo, if I can ask? No one wanted to go on it with you?” He looked around for whomever you were joining.
You started walking off the platform, towards your next destination. “Nope, I came by myself.” You looked up at him with a slight frown. “You’re not going to sell me off to someone or anything right?”
Chris bit his lip to try not to laugh at you, missing the twinkle in your eye as he placed his hand on the left side of his chest. “Your secret is safe with me.” He thought about it for a moment. “You’ve been the single rider all day, haven’t you?”
“Yup!” You exaggerated the “pee” sound. “Can’t seem to help it.”
Chris grew thoughtful as he found the other members of his family. “Are you headed to the Buzz Lightyear ride next?”
“Of course! I look forward to defeating Zurg,” you teased with a snort.
“Why don’t you join us?” His hand pointing towards his family. “You would give us even numbers.”
“I don’t know…” You didn’t know why...you knew why you were hesitating. He is with his family for Pete’s sake! A small shove into your hip had you glancing down into the face of the young boy.
“Hey there Miles! Where did you come from?” The boy giggled and pointed at Chris.
“He’s my uncle! He was the one who told me to ride with you on the teacups!” Miles giggled again. “Are you dating my uncle?”
You tried not to laugh at the suggestion but instead knelt down to Miles. “So if I join you, will you be my riding buddy? I came all by myself. What do you think?”
Miles turned to Shanna and his dad. “Mom! Dad! Can Miss y/n join us? She was so fun on the teacups, please?” His eyes went round as he continued to beg; you would have sworn you heard a “wike” whispered behind you.
Shanna gave you a once over, remembering how easily you had allowed Miles and Shanna to join you before sneaking a glance at her brother who looked like he might just fight his nephew for your attention. It’s the easiest decision all day, Shanna thought. “Of course! Y/n, thanks so much for being Miles’s ride buddy. Welcome to the family!” Shanna made quick introductions while the group headed towards the Buzz Lightyear ride. You fell into step between Miles and Chris, the former chatting non-stop about all the rides they had been on so far.
“Do you like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride?” Miles asked suddenly.
Chris chuckled at his animated nephew. “Buddy, do you want to ask her questions or ride the ride?” He pointed to the line in front of you. Miles didn’t answer, instead running ahead and standing in line with his dad. “Looks like you’re stuck with me again,” Chris teased, nudging your hip with his.
“You expecting me to complain? Or maybe hang all over you?” You shot him a look to see what he’d say. Instead he threw his head back in laughter, grabbing his chest before slinging his right arm over your shoulders. Before Chris could respond you felt a finger tapping on your shoulder. You turned to see Scott and Lisa grinning at you.
“If you keep sassing him like that, we’re gonna want to keep you around, so just consider dating him would ya?” Scott asked. You shook your head and laughed at the crazy situation. This isn’t what I expected at all when I planned this solo trip, it’s even better!

go get her, kid. (peter parker)
Summary: Peter Parker is hopelessly in love with Tony Starks’ teenage daughter, and Stark encourages him to shoot his shot.
WC: 7.4k (holy shit)
Warnings: Bad language, , really nothing else. A lot of cute peter and a painful amount fluff. A tiny bit of angst too.
A/N: I found myself watching Tom Holland interview clips today and I just couldn’t help myself. Here we are: my first peter parker/ spiderman one shot! I have some Harry and Jj pieces in the works, so keep eyes out for that!
LET’S DO IT!!!
--------
Peter  found himself in this position far too often. Staring at you shamelessly while you worked away at whatever was on your desk, usually a school assignment or some tech project. His crush had been going on for quite some time, but it was getting more and more difficult to hide.
You and Peter had been best friends ever since your dad first recruited him. Something clicked between the two of you, causing an instant friendship. As time went on, you grew closer and closer to the superhero, and he quickly became your best friend. You began surrounding yourself with his friends without even realizing it, becoming close with Ned and MJ almost instantly. They were great people, and you loved being around them, but something about Peter was just different. Your energies matched perfectly for some reason. He got your humour, liked the same things as you, plus he was a great conversationalist and an even better listener. Some of your favorite memories were made with Peter.
Despite knowing practically everything about the boy, you were completely oblivious about his huge crush on you. Ned was the only person who truly knew, though many other people had their suspicions. The Avengers had an idea about it, considering you were what he talked about 90 percent of the time. MJ could tell because of the way he looked at you. When he looked your way, his pupils enlarged, his cheeks went pink, and the look on his face was entirely lovey-dovey. It was so obvious just in the way he gazed at you when you spoke.
He was looking at you in that way now, though you weren’t aware. He was meant to be studying (it was the whole reason he came over to your house, or at least that’s the reason he told you), but he couldn’t bring himself to care about chemistry homework when you looked so damn beautiful. Your hair was pulled back into a low ponytail keeping it away from your face as you worked. Your hands flew across the keyboard on your laptop, typing out something Peter probably wouldn’t understand. He was smart, sure, but you were intelligent in a different way. You were insightful and observant, you got things other people couldn’t begin to process. Your brain understood things in a different capacity than most. Peter assumes you got this trait from your father, who was the exact same way.
“What’re you typing? Something for school?”
You nodded, your attention not wavering from the laptop screen. “Yeah, an assignment for AP Lit.”
“Oh, that one project you told me about? With the essay and the powerpoint?”
You nodded again. “Mhm.”
Peter furrowed his brows, moving off your bed to come stand near you at your desk in an attempt to get a better look at what you were working so eagerly on. “I thought that project wasn’t due for another month.
“It’s not. I had an idea for the essay, and I figured if I get started early, I have more time to edit and perfect it.”
“You’re such a perfectionist.” Peter says with a light chuckle, looking at the state of your desk. It was both chaotic and organized at the same time. Pens, highlighters, pieces of paper, a book with annotations scribbled in the margins, notebooks with neat class notes printed inside of them in your pretty handwriting. They were all scattered about the surface, but Peter knew you well enough to know that there was always a method to your madness. As you observed longer, he realized that all of the items were in different sections on your desk, based on categories and subjects. He smiled lightly, realizing that this messy but technically neat surface was probably a very accurate representation of what goes on in your mind.
You finished the paragraph you were typing with a flourish, a satisfied smile resting on your lips. “There. I have a basic outline done for the essay portion. Obviously, I’ll have to go back and add a little more and elaborate on the points, but the basics are there.”
Peter glanced up at your laptop screen. His eyes were met with a never ending sea of typed out words. He smiled; this was so you. Your ‘outline’ is another student's essay doubled.
“You’re gonna write more than that?”
You looked back at him, and he saw your face for the first time during the encounter. His cheeks went slightly pink at the sight of you, and he prayed that you didn’t notice.
You didn’t, or perhaps you just didn’t say anything. You continued on with the conversation without skipping a beat, and relief washed over Peter because of this.
“Of course I am.” You stated with furrowed brows, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “This is so boring and basic, and has no detail whatsoever. Anybody who reads the summary of the book online could write this. I want my teacher to know that I thoroughly read and understood the novel, you know? I don’t want to submit some surface-level shit, I want to really pick apart the undertones of and the meaning behind the story.”
Peter nods, pretending to understand what you meant. He’d barely been paying attention to the words you were saying, too encapsulated with your beautiful eyes to do so. You turned back around towards your work, causing your best friend to snap out of his trance-like state.
“Do you wanna watch a movie or something? I’m bored.”
You had now picked up a pencil and a highlighter, working on the chemistry notes he was supposed to be taking. “Don’t you have work to do, Pete?”
“...No.”
You paused your writing to gaze at him skeptically.
“So you did your book report for english?”
“Yes.”
“Your worksheets for pre-calc?”
“Mhm.”
“You read the assigned chapters for Pschycology and finished the quiz you had to take on them?”
A nod was your only answer.
“What about chem? We have notes, essay questions, assigned reading, and a formulas worksheet due next tuesday. Have you done all of that?”
Peter hesitated for a moment. “Yes, I have.” It was a clear lie. “Can we watch a movie now?”
“There’s no way you did all of that. Go finish your work, and then we can watch a movie.”
A groan escapes Peters lips as he turns, resting against your desk. “But that’ll take forever. Your dad kicks me out at 11:00. We’ll never have time to watch one.” He whines.
You smile slightly, unable to fight it. Not replying to your friend, you spin around in your chair, raising your voice slightly, “FRIDAY, connect to dad please.”, the command directed to nowhere in particular.
“Connecting to Mr. Stark.” The familiar robotic voice echoes throughout your room.
“What’s up, Y/N/N?”
“Hey, Dad? Can Peter stay a bit later tonight?”
“Why?”  Your dad’s voice replies through a hidden speaker, his tone almost accusatory.
“Because he wants to watch a movie but I won’t let him until we’re done with homework. We won’t have enough time to finish the movie if he leaves at normal curfew? Pleeeaseee, Dad?”
You can hear your father sigh. “Fine, but only because it’s not a school night and I’m feeling generous. He’s gotta be gone by one though, no exceptions.”
Both of you smiled widely, and you erupted in cheers. “Thanks, Dad!”
“Kid, be ready for training at eight. A later curfew doesn’t mean an exception from your early morning saturday sessions.” The statement was directed at Peter, who nodded, despite your father not being able to see him.
“Got it, Mr. Stark.”
“FRIDAY, disconnect.” You heard Tony’s voice from the other side.
“Disconnected.” The sound of the AI confirming the command filled your room, and the space fell into a brief silence once again.
You spun in your chair, turning to face Peter with a smug smile on your face. “There, now we can get our work done, and watch a movie. Satisfied?”
Peter nodded, giving a roll of his eyes and heading back over to his workspace on your bed, plopping down and continuing his assignments.
An hour and half later, Peter gave a heavy sigh, finally closing his textbook with a smile. “All done!” he announced proudly.
“With everything?”
“Yes, everything.”
You closed your notebook you’d been working in, standing up. “Great. I’ve been done for half an hour, I’ve been working on future assignments while I waited for you to finish up. Ready to watch that movie?”
Peter nodded excitedly. He loved watching movies with you, because you always cuddled up close to him on your bed while you watched. Peter loved being in close proximity to you, even though it made him a little nervous.
“What do you wanna watch?” He asked, beginning to clear his things off your bed.
“I don’t know. We can discuss while we go make popcorn.”
Peter’s eyes lit up; he loved popcorn.
“Okay!” He tossed the rest of his things in his school bag, zipping it up quickly and dropping it in the corner of your room. “Lets go!”
You chuckled at his childlike behavior, following him out of your bedroom door towards your kitchen. The entire journey down the stairs, down the hall, and to the kitchen was filled with Peter going on and on about movies he wanted to see.
You grabbed the microwave popcorn from the pantry, unwrapping it and tossing it in, starting up the machine.
You continued to listen to Peter as soft popping sounds filled your kitchen.
“Oh, you guys have Disney plus, right? What if we watched that new star wars show thingy? The mandalorian?”
You smiled at this statement. Though you didn’t see the boy in any way but a friend (at least that’s what you told yourself), you found Peter’s Star Wars obsession very cute.
“I mean, I would watch that, but I don’t think I’d understand it.”
Peter’s brows furrowed. “Why not?”
“Because I’ve never seen the movies.”
You watched in amusement as Peter’s jaw dropped, his eyes widening in shock. “You’ve NEVER seen the Star Wars movies? Are you kidding me, Y/N?”
You laughed at his reaction, moving to fetch the fully popped popcorn from the microwave and transfer it into a bowl. “No, I’m not kidding. I’ve been meaning to watch them forever, but I guess I never got around to it.”
“I can’t believe this!” Peter exclaims in disbelief. “We’ve been friends for a year and a half now, and you’ve never seen the Star Wars movies? This is insane! I talk about them so much… did you just never understand what I was talking about?”
You shook your head, chuckling. “Nope, I never have. I kinda just let you talk about it, because I planned on watching the movies. I figured I’d understand what you meant when I watched them.”
“Holy shit… we’re watching the first one tonight, Y/N. No arguments, we’re doing it.”
You grabbed the now prepared bowl of popcorn, smiling at your friend. “Alright, let’s do it.”
You headed back up the stairs, the sound of your footsteps accompanied with the sound of Peter murmuring in disbelief as you made your way to your room.
Once the two of you arrived at your destination, you closed the door, placing the bowl of popcorn on your still cluttered desk.
Peter climbed into your bed, while you rummaged through your drawers in search of comfy clothes. “I’m gonna change into pj’s before we start, i want to be comfy.”
Peter nodded. “FRIDAY, put Star Wars: The Phantom Menace on Y/N’s TV.” He spoke out in a slightly raised voice. The movie appeared on your screen, waiting to be started as you changed.
A few moments later, you emerged from your bathroom, now wearing a pair of Nike shorts and a slightly oversized t-shirt.
“Y/N, this is about to change your li-” Peter’s voice trailed off as he looked at you. The oversized shirt you were wearing… was his.
He choked on the piece of popcorn he’d been eating. “I-is that my shirt?”
You looked down on what you were wearing, realizing that it was, in fact, Peter's. “Oh shit. Yeah, sorry. You left it at the lab once, dad gave it to me to give to you, and I guess it just got mixed in with my clothes. I’ll wash it and give it back.
Peter shook his head, coughing again. “No, it’s okay. You can keep it. It looks better on you anyway.” his cheeks went pink as he realized what had just left his mouth. He hadn’t meant to say the last part.
Your cheeks went even pinker at the compliment, which you couldn’t deny made your stomach flutter a little bit. “Okay, thanks.” You smiled at your friend, climbing into the bed beside him. You cuddled in close to him, probably closer than need be, but Peter didn’t seem to mind.
“FRIDAY, start the movie.”
---
A few hours later, the credits were rolling, and Peter was red in the face. You had fallen asleep halfway through the movie, and had moved even closer to him in your slumber. You were now full-on cuddling the boy, and he had no idea what to do. Your leg was moved over his, your head lay on his chest. One arm thrown around his waist. He liked having you this close, but his stomach was in a constant state of butterflies, and he was worried that the sound of his heart beating loudly in his chest would wake you.
He didn’t know what time it was, but it must’ve been close to one, because a knock sounded from the other side of your bedroom door.
Without waiting for an answer, Tony entered the room. “Alright, kids, it’s almost curfew, time to wrap it up…”
His eyes landed on you and Peter, cuddled up in your bed.
“Kid, what the hell is going on here?”
“Mr. Stark! Um, Y/N fell asleep while we were watching the movie and she kinda… I don’t know.. Ended up like this? Nothing’s going on, I swear, it’s just… I didn’t want to wake her up…”
Peter’s face was the color of a tomato at this point. Stark still had his suspicions about the boy’s intentions, but had a feeling that Peter was telling the truth. “Alright, then. You’d better get your ass home and get some sleep. Like I said, you don’t get a free pass from training because you were cuddling with my daughter till one am.”
Peter’s eyes went wide. “No, Mr. Stark, I- We weren’t… I Wasn’t…”
Stark chuckled at the boy’s flustered state. “I’m screwing with you, Kid. Now get the hell out of my house. I’ll see you at 8 AM sharp at the compound”
Peter nodded frantically. “Yes, sir. 8 AM. Got it.”
Tony turned and left without another word, leaving Peter slightly panicked. Did Mr. Stark think that something was going on between him and Y/N? Would he be mad if there was? Peter didn’t know what to think, but he knew that he should probably leave before Tony decided to come back.
Peter climbed carefully out from underneath Y/N, setting her head gently on her pillow. He tried his very best not to wake her as he moved out of the bed.
“Goodnight, Y/N. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay? Love you lots.” Peter whispered to his ‘best friend’, planting a sweet kiss on her forehead. With that, he slid your window open, climbing out of it and swinging his way home.
Peter was completely oblivious to the fact that Tony had been standing quietly outside your door when Peter said his goodbyes, and Tony saw the entire encounter. The ‘goodnight’, the ‘i love you’, the sweet forehead kiss.
Tony had his suspicions, but that night it was confirmed: his newest recruit had it bad for his daughter.
Strangely, Tony didn’t find himself terribly angry over it.
The next morning, you awoke to the sound of your alarm blaring frustratingly loud. You groaned at the noise, picking up your phone to turn it off. The time on your phone screen read 7:00 AM. Groaning again, you pulled yourself reluctantly out of bed. As much as you hated getting up out of bed, you knew you had to if you ever wanted to complete your training. Your father had promised you that you’d get a spot on his team if you trained hard enough, and you were extremely determined. It had been your dream for years to become an Avenger, so you had been training your ass off for months to earn your spot.
This is how all of your Saturdays had begun for many weeks. An alarm going off at seven in the morning, waking you up to get ready for training at eight. It was a normal routine for you at this point, but for some reason the early wake up never got easier.
You moved about your regular morning routine, heading straight for your bathroom to brush your teeth and wash your face. Once your basic hygiene was done, you brushed through your hair, changed into some clothes (your training uniform was at the compound), grabbed your phone, and headed downstairs.
You made a beeline for the kitchen, where your father was already making his morning coffee. When he noticed your presence, he gave you a tired smile.
“Morning, Y/N/N. Sleep well?”
Still half asleep, you gave an exhausted nod. “I shouldn’t have stayed up that late last night. I’ll yell at Peter when I see him. He always manages to convince me to let him stay late.”
For some reason, your father gave a light chuckle at your words. “I bet he does, sweetheart.”
Your brows furrowed at his statement. Something about his tone of voice didn’t sit right with you. “What’s that supposed to mean?” You ask, making your way over to fix yourself a cup of coffee.
Your father smiled smugly at you, passing over the coffee pot and a mug. “Nothing, honey. Be ready in fifteen.”
Still suspicious, your eyes followed him as he placed his coffee mug in the sink and moved from the room. Why was he acting like this? Did Peter do something last night? You remembered falling asleep halfway through the movie, not being able to make it through the whole thing. Had something happened while you were sleeping?
Deciding not to let it bother you, you pushed the interaction from your mind, focusing solely on fixing your coffee. You were barely functional without it, and you knew you needed to be fully aware for training. You had to prove to your father that you could keep up with the Avengers, and that you’d be a useful asset to their team.
You downed the coffee quickly, knowing you had only a few minutes left to get ready. When your father gave you a time warning, he always meant it. And, you knew all too well, he would leave you behind if you were going to make him late.
He’d done it twice before.
Once you had finished chugging the remnants of your coffee, you placed the mug neatly in the sink, right beside where your father had left his. The drink had been an instant pick-me-up, and you automatically felt more awake. You found yourself getting more and more excited for the day ahead of you. Though waking up early on saturday mornings was a pain in the ass, you did enjoy training. You got to exercise, learn about cool technology, and screw around with your best friend. What wasn’t there to like?
Now that your best friend had crossed your mind, you pulled out your phone to text him. You sent him a message every morning, or he sent one to you. It was just a thing the two of you did. Over the past year the two of you had been close, it became some sort of routine.
Y/N/N: morning spidey. u awake?
Within moments, he was typing out a reply. He always answered your messages quickly.
Spidey: yes i am :) ready for training? I’m gonna kick ur ass in sprints today
You chuckled lightly at his response. You and Peter had always been insanely competitive towards each other, and it really jumped out during training. Unfortunately for you, Peter usually won the challenges. You always blamed it on the fact that he had more experience and super strength; he blamed it on the fact that ‘you suck’ and ‘he’s just that awesome’.
Y/N/N: u can try, but idk how that will work out. I’ve beaten u in all of the other sprints for weeks.
Spidey: doesn’t matter. I’m showing out today
Spidey: bring ur a-game, irongirl.
You smiled at the message.
Y/N/N: always do, spiderboy
He started typing back immediately, and you knew exactly why. He called you irongirl to screw with you, so you had begun calling him spiderboy to get on his nerves. It worked every time.
Spidey: Y/N!!! It’s spiderman!!!
Y/N/N: spiderboy!!! It’s nova!!!
Spidey: ugh. Ur impossible.
You grinned widely. Your playful banter with Peter has always been one of your favorite parts of the friendship.
Y/N/N: but u love me anyways :)))) see u soon
Spidey: u better be glad i do. see u soon
You reread the texts, unable to fight the smile on your face. Everytime you interact with Peter, you remember how much you truly love him. Being an avenger, and the daughter of one of the smartest and most famous men on the planet, wasn’t easy. Peter was the only one who had a taste of the madness that was your life. Having him around was having a sense of normalcy, and so were incredibly grateful for him.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of your voice being called from the front door of your house.
“Y/N! Time to leave!” Without hesitation, you locked your phone, slipping it into the pocket of your sweatpants.
You hurried towards the front door, not wanting to be left behind again. When you arrived, your father was already standing there, holding the door open. You gave him a smile and a quick thank you for holding the door, then made your way out. The driver was already waiting patiently in front of your house. This was one of your dad’s six drivers.
“Morning, Bernard.” You say kindly to the driver, climbing into the back seat of the range rover. “How are you today?”
“I’m doing wonderful, Y/N. How are you?” The older man replied. You really liked Bernard, he was one of your favorite drivers. He was an older man, in his mid seventies, and you found him to be the sweetest person in the universe. Sometimes, he’d bring you your favorite candy when he used to pick you up from school, and he was always so considerate and kind.
“I’m good. Tired, but good.”
The man smiled at your reply. By this point, your dad had finished locking up the front door of the house, and he climbed in the backseat beside you.
“Good morning, Mr. Stark.” Bernard said professionally to his new passenger, and your dad nodded as a reply.
“Morning, bernard.”
The conversation ended there between the two men. Your father wasn’t a very social person with people he didn’t know, and Bernard was aware of this fact. He mostly talked to you when you were in the car, and Tony went on his phone and did Lord knows what.
“How is Dorothy doing? Is she feeling better?” You asked the man as he began pulling out of your driveway. Dorothy was Bernard’s wife, and she’d gotten sick the week prior. Given her age, Bernard was very worried about her.
Bernard smiled at your question. “Much, much better. They released her from the hospital yesterday, she’s back home and doing great. Thanks for asking.”
“Of course!” You grinned back. “Did you ever find out what she had?”
“Pneumonia, just a very bad case of it.”
You nodded in understanding. “Well, I’m glad she’s better! I was worried when you first told me.”
The conversation continued, talking about anything and everything as you drove to the compound. He told you about his wife, his four kids and what they’re doing. His granddaughter had a baby a few days before, and he was extremely excited about it.
After a 20 minute drive, you pulled up to the building you knew so well. Bernard went to the normal procedure of getting through the front gates, and then pulled up to the front of the compound.
“Well, here we are.” Bernard announced, parking the vehicle. You and your father began climbing out of the backseat.
“Thank you, bernard. Tell your granddaughter I said congratulations!”
He wished you a kind goodbye, and then you were gone, leaving the car and heading towards the compound.
When you walked into the main section of the building, you spotted your best friend in the kitchen. You had to admit, he looked incredible, standing near an open window in the early morning light. He was already dressed in his sleek, black training uniform. It was tight against his body, showing off his muscled body. Sometimes, you forget how beautiful Peter is.
“You’re staring…” A singsong voice came in your ear. You whipped your head towards the voice to see your father walking away from you, smirking. You stood there, feeling slightly confused. Had you really been staring at Peter?
At times, you forget that Peter is only your best friend. The two of you act like an old married sometimes. You spend all of your time together, and you know each other so well.
Strange feelings you couldn’t understand had crept up on you before, especially recently. You couldn’t deny Peter was attractive, and he was a great person, too. How could you not love him? The issue is, you found yourself loving him in a different way than before…
You shook your head, clearing your thoughts. You couldn’t be thinking about this right now, it’s not the place or time. Peter was standing right in front of you, and you needed to be focused for training.
You could process your feelings and emotions at a later time.
You began walking up to Peter, who was leaning up against the counter holding a cup of coffee.
“Morning, loser.” You said teasingly, greeting your friend. His head snapped in your direction, and he smiled when his eyes found you. (You thought you could see his cheeks go pink, too, but you forced yourself to ignore it.)
“Hey! How’d you sleep?”
“Pretty good.” You replied, leaning against the counter beside him. “I didn’t even notice that you left last night, I was really out. Did my Dad come in and tell you to leave?”
The pink in Peter’s cheeks darkened at your statement. Of course, this was the perfect time for your father to reenter the room. “Yeah, I did. He seemed very comfortable, but I kicked him out at one.”
Peter and your father were making direct eye contact. Your dad had that stupid smirk on his face, and peter was bright red.
You looked between the two of them, not knowing what to think. Before, you were just suspicious, but now it was confirmed: something happened last night between the two of them, and you were determined to find out what.
Hours later, you’re completely exhausted from training. You worked your ass off, and had successfully beat Peter in sprints.
“That’s right! You lost! How amazing is spiderboy now?”
Peter rolled his eyes in mock annoyance. “Whatever, Y/N. I let you win.”
Your jaw dropped. “You did not! I won because I’m better!”
Peter just smiled at you. You took a swig of the water bottle in your hands, turning around to look at your friend as you did.
The sight you were met with was very sweet. Peter stood there, smiling at you with a look you could only describe as adoration. You looked back at him, a small grin resting on your face.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” The brunette boy says cheekily.
“Why are YOU looking at ME like that, Parker?”
You took a step closer to him, his eyes widening slightly at your movement. He said nothing in response to your question (though it felt more like an accusation), and you smiled again.”Got nothing to say?” Your voice was barely a whisper.
“Parker!” You jumped what felt like 20 feet in the air at the sound of Natasha’s voice, breaking up the little moment between you and Peter.
You stepped back away from him, and you couldn’t help but notice the sadness flash across his face before he turned to the other woman in the room.
“Yeah, Nat?”
“Tony needs your help in the lab. I believe his exact words were ‘he needs to be here in five or I’ll kill him.’ A few minutes have already passed, I’d start running if I were you.”
Peter’s eyes widened for the second time. “Oh, shit, okay. Thanks, Nat.” He turned his head quickly in your direction. “I’ll meet you in your room when I’m done, okay?”
You nodded with a smile. Peter planted a quick kiss on your forehead before jetting off in the direction of the lounge.
Grinning to yourself, you turned towards the sink, your back facing Natasha. You begin cleaning out your now empty water bottle, thinking over the previous interaction with Peter. You loved when he kissed your forehead.
“So, how long have you liked him?” You were so deep in thought, Natasha’s voice made you jump once again. When you’d fully processed her words, your cheeks went pink.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Oh, don’t give me that. I know you like him.”
“Like who?” Play dumb. That’ll throw her off your trail… right?
“Peter! Come on, you’re caught. Just admit it, Y/n, you’re making things harder on yourself.”
Finally, you sighed. Drying your hands on a towel, you turned reluctantly back towards Nathasha. “Is it really that obvious?”
The woman broke out into a grin at your words. “Of course it is! You two are hopelessly in love with each other. It’s almost hard to watch.”
Your cheeks went pink at her statement. “With each other? Oh, no. You mean I’m hopelessly in love with him. It’s not mutual. I’m just his best friend.”
Nat rolled her eyes dramatically. “Oh, come on! ‘Just his best friend’ my ass. He loves you, Y/N. He’s even more obvious than you are.”
You shook your head quickly. “No, I promise you’re wrong.”
She looked at you pointedly. “I was right about you, wasn’t I?”
“Yes, but…” Your voice trailed off. You couldn’t argue with that. Nat grinned smugly at your reaction.
“That’s what I thought. Please confess to him when he meets you in your room later. It’s painful to watch, I can’t do it any longer.” And with that, Natasha was gone, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
Was it really thought obvious? Could everyone tell how you felt about peter? You could hardly even tell how you felt about him; the line between best friend and crush had been blurred for so long. If everyone could tell that you were hopelessly in love with your best friend, you would be incredibly embarrassed.
Even worse… what if Peter could tell that your in love with him?
You shook your head, as if clearing your thoughts. No. You couldn’t think like that. Of course he didn’t know; he would’ve said something.
Right?
Sighing, you walked off towards your room to take a shower, pretending you weren’t going to think of him while you were in there.
---
While Natasha was exposing your feelings, you were completely oblivious to the fact that Tony was doing the same thing to Peter in the lab.
When the boy walked in, Peter fully expected that he was being called for one of three reasons.
One: Tony had a new mission for Peter.
Two: Tony needed help with an experiment.
Or, three (the scariest option): Tony wanted to scold him for (albeit unintentionally) cuddling with his daughter the night before.
Peter could only be described as apprehensive as he walked carefully into the lab, where Tony was hunched over a table, working on something that Peter couldn’t see.
“Mr. Stark?” Peter spoke nervously, a timid way of letting Tony know of his presence. “Nat said you needed me. Is that true, or was she just trying to get rid of me?”
“No, no, I called for you.” Tony replied. He made a few last touches on whatever he was working on, then turned around towards peter. “I wanted to talk to you.”
Okay, option two is eliminated. Now, the question at hand is: will it be option one or three?
“Oh, okay. What about?” Peter said casually (or at least, that's how he hoped it came across.)
Tony gave a pointed look to the boy before speaking again. “My daughter.”
Peter’s eyes widened slightly.
Shit, shit, shit.
Option three it is.
“Is this about last night sir? I swear I can explain-” Peter was quickly speaking.
But, before he could finish, Tony was cutting him off.
“This isn’t about last night, kid. I mean, it kind of is, but not really.”
Peter’s brow furrowed.
Unknown option number four?
“What do you mean, sir?”
“I saw what happened before you left last night. The forehead kiss, the ‘I love you,’ all of it.”
Peter was bright red in seconds. “Oh…”
“Do you love my daughter, Peter?”
The boy’s cheeks somehow managed to go a darker shade of pink.
“I-I uh.. O-of course I do, she’s, uh, she’s my best friend.” Peter stammered out.
Tony narrowed his eyes. “That’s not what I mean, Peter.” The man says, his tone borderline accusatory. “Do you love her, love her?”
Silence. Peter didn’t know what to say, so he opted for nothing at all.
“I already know the answer, Peter, so you might as well just come out and say it.”
Peter pondered his next move. If he played his cards wrong, this conversation could end in him losing his life. Tony Stark was not one to be messed with, especially when it comes to Y/N.
On the other hand, Tony Stark was not one to be lied to, either.
Peter sighed, accepting his fate. “How did you know?”
Much to Peter’s surprise, Tony gave a small smile. “I see the way you look at her, kid. I’ve looked at many girls like that in my day. That enamoured look. You're in love with my daughter, and I have some questions.”
“Questions?”
“Yes, questions, kid. Keep up.”
Peter nodded. “Alright.”
“How long?” Tony asked.
“How long…?” Peter didn’t understand what Tony was aking.
“How long have you been in love with Y/N! How long have you known?”
Peter looked away, breaking eye contact momentarily out of nerves.
When did he begin loving you? Now that he’s truly thinking about it, he can’t really remember.
Maybe it was the first mission that the two of you did together, back when you still known as irongirl. It was a bank robbery, an easy task that Tony had given for your very first mission.
Maybe it was that one time when you dragged him out of bed at 6 AM so that you could show him your favorite coffee shop.
Perhaps it was when you took that faithful mission to Asgard, when you gained your powers accidentally, earning your new title as Nova.
Or, it could be the time that you and him stayed up late binge watching a show he couldn’t remember. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you that night. You looked so beautiful that night, getting excited as something cool happened in the show. Your hair was tied back, wearing an oversized shirt, your face makeup free. He couldn’t help but smile as you laughed, and didn’t think he’d ever heard a more beautiful sound in the world.
Yeah, he thinks it was that night.
“Um… about ten months ago, I think? That’s when I realized, but I think I’ve loved her for longer. I just forced myself not to acknowledge it, I guess.”
Tony nodded in understanding. “I get that. What is it about her?”
Another question the boy had to think about.
“There’s a lot of things, I think. Like how excited she gets when she talks about things she’s passionate about. Oh, and the way she laughs when something’s funny in a movie or a show or something. And the way she sends me memes or videos that she thinks are funny. They’re usually not very funny, but of course I think it’s hilarious just because she sent it to me. And she always listens to me when I talk, even if I’m talking about something stupid and boring like science stuff I think is interesting. She talks back to me like she cares what I’m saying, and I know she probably doesn’t, but she acts like she does, and that’s enough. She always drags me out to go on adventures, or, at least, that’s what she calls them. Usually it’s just going to get coffee or try out some new restaurant she heard about but it’s still fun. She’s just so amazing, and I think she makes me the best version of myself.”
The rant ended, and for a moment, Peter forgot that Tony was even in the room.
“Damn. I wasn’t expecting that. I’m impressed, kid. To be honest, I expected some shallow answer like ‘she looks hot in her suit’ or something like that.”
“No, sir. Of course, she’s beautiful, but Y/N is just so much more than that.”
Tony gave another sweet smile to the boy in front of him.
“She likes you, too, you know.”
Peter’s head snapped toward Tony again.
What the hell did he just say?
“What?”
“Y/N. She likes you.”
“No way. She just sees me as her best friend. I’m probably like a brother to her. She doesn’t like me like that.”
“But she does, kid. I know my daughter better than I know myself. She is head over heels for you, spidey. Which is why you should tell her how you feel.”
“Tell her how I feel? Why would I do that?”
“Because she likes you, too, and then you two will be stupid kids in love.”
“Are you serious?”
“Aren’t I always?”
Peter paused for a moment. “I thought you’d kill me when you found out I liked your daughter, not convince me to go talk to her about it.”
“I’m gonna be honest with you, kid. I brought you in here with the intention of killing you, or just telling you to stay away from my daughter. But after you went on that little rant about why you loved her, I just couldn’t tell you to keep away from her. You really love her, kid, I can tell. So go talk to her.”
“You’re sure you won’t be mad if I ask her out?”
Tony shook his head and smiled.
“Go get her, kid.”
-------
Freshly clean and feeling a significant amount better, you sat on your bed scrolling on your phone. Thoughts of Peter had begun to fade (mainly because you forced them out of your mind) and that helped to keep you from stressing about what’s to come.
You had decided to confess how you feel to Peter.
True, this plan could ruin everything. Today could be the day you lost your best friend, and that thought made you want to cry.
But today could also be the day you finally get to kiss the boy you’ve loved forever, and that thought also made you want to cry.
You didn't have much time to think about it further, however, because Peter was knocking on your bedroom door.
“Y/N? It’s me. Can I come in?”
You paused immediately, your heart rating speeding up.
Oh, shit. This is it. This could be the beginning or the end of you and Peter Parker.
You took a deep breath, steadying yourself. It was now or never.
“Yeah, Petey, come on in.”
The door opened, and the boy you loved so much walked in. His cheeks were pink, you noticed. His cheeks only went pink when he’s nervous. Why was he nervous?
You could tell by his damp hair that he had also showered before coming to your room.
“I need to talk to you about something.” He rushes out.
Oh.
“Same.” is your reply. What else are you meant to say?
“Oh, really? Well, uh, you can go first. I’ll wait.”
You shook your head frantically. “No, you first. You said it first, so it’s only right that you go.”
Peter’s hand went to the back of his neck, rubbing it. Another nervous habit of his.
“Can I sit down?”
You nodded. Why was he even asking? Usually he’d just plop down whenever he pleased, no questions asked. This behavior was very out of character for the boy you knew so well.
The boy sat down on the edge of your bed, and then took a deep breath. “Okay. I don’t know how to tell you this, but I just have to. I don’t want you to hate me, and I really hope this doesn’t affect our friendship, but…”
Peter paused for a moment, and looked into your eyes. They were brimming with concern, and he just couldn’t hold it back anymore. He broke the eye contact you’d been maintaining, mustered up all the courage he could, and then blurted it out.
“I’m in love with you. I have been for I don’t know how long. I wasn’t planning on telling you, because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship, but it was starting to get physically painful and I just- I can’t hide it anymore. I love you and I’m sorry.”
Peter clenched his eyes shut, unable to look at your face. He waited (very anxiously) for a reaction, but it never came. Eventually, he opened his eyes, gaining the burst of bravery it took to look at you.
Your jaw was dropped, the expression on your face unreadable.
Oh, no. No no no no no. He’d fucked up. He fucked everything up and now you were never going to speak to him again. He’d lost you. Damn you, Tony Stark.
“Y/N…” He began his apology solemnly. “I’m-”
But he never got to finish his sentence.
Because you were pouncing on him before he had the chance to.
You were on him within seconds, kissing him with so much intensity that he fell back on the bed. He was taken aback for a moment, but quickly kissed you back.
For a moment, the two of you just lay there, wrapped in one another, kissing like there was no tomorrow.
A kiss that made up for all the ones both of you had longed to have in the months before.
You pulled away gently, looking into Peter’s eyes.
“I have loved you for so fucking long, Peter. I was going to tell you that I loved you today.”
“Are you serious?”
You laughed lightly. “Of course I’m serious, you dumbass.”
“Hey!” Peter feigned offense.
You pecked his lips. “You’re a cute dumbass, though.” And then you were kissing him again, and it’s all you could’ve asked for.
----
After a while, the two of you had finally tired each other out, and now you sat cuddled against each other on your bed. No movie or show was playing; it was just you and Peter, listening to each other’s breathing and the sound of your heartbeats.
You looked up at the beautiful boy you were cuddling with, only to find he was already looking down at you.
“Aren’t you going to ask me out, Parker?”
Peter’s eyes widened, and his cheeks went red (for the millionth time that day.)
“Oh, yeah, I- I just thought- nevermind, uh- Y/N, will-”
“Yes, of course I’ll be your girlfriend, Petey.” You cut him off, saving him a few extra minutes of nervous stammering.
He smiled sheepishly at you, then leaned down to bring you into a kiss.
You cuddled back down into his chest, smiling warmly.
You can confidently say that right now, in this moment, you are the happiest you’ve ever been.

Movie Night
Part Two here
"Is this a Star Wars or Star Trek night?"
Villain glanced back and forth between the two titles, conflicted.
"My gut says Star Wars." Hero answered. They split the popcorn into separate bowls and brought them over to where Villain was sitting. Hero took Empire Strikes Back and began the setup. A sound of rustling papers came from behind them.
"Lion King."
"Nope." Hero replied over their shoulder. They heard Villain scribble something down.
"Thirteen going on Thirty."
Hero considered lying, but didn't feel like going through the cross-examination. "Also nope."
"Sharknado."
"That can't be a real thing." Movie ready, they took a seat beside Villain on the couch. "How many are on your must-see list for me now?"
Villain double-checked their worn notebook. "Around 70."
One movie a night - that was going to take months to get through. Time spent away from keeping people safe. And if the current evening death toll kept up… Hero did the math and paled.
Seeing the look on their face, Villain took a fistful of popcorn from Hero's bowl. “A shame you didn't spend more of your past watching famous movies. Calm down; you're well on your way to interacting in society without making a fool of yourself."
"Ah yes, because Star Wars references are incredibly useful in saving lives." Hero snapped. Honestly, they didn't see the appeal behind the franchise. What kind of antagonist's main intimidation tactic was breathing loudly? Who wears a cape in space? Plus, Hero still wasn't sure who had shot first in A New Hope.
To be fair, they would have enjoyed the movie a lot more without the terrified sobbing coming from the corner.
Blindfolded, gagged and restrained with earplugs, the civilians were never aware of their purpose. Every night a new one would be taken and, if Hero behaved, released when the movie was over.
The first time Villain showed up on their doorstep with a hostage, Hero had leapt to free the shaking young woman. Villain broke her arm in retaliation without blinking an eye.
After a few weeks, Hero had gotten somewhat used to the terrified leverage Villain held over them. If anything, the civilian would be safe for the evening while Hero was out of commission. Whoever was paying Villain to keep Hero 'entertained' excelled at spreading the news of Hero's newfound break time to the rest of the underground. Crime and death rates skyrocketed during those evening hours. Watching the reports later was always the worst part of Hero's guilt-ridden mornings.
"I'll try to grab a quieter one next time. This is really putting a damper on the experience." Villain turned their head to glare at the oblivious civilian.
"Not like it will make this movie any worse. I can feel it lowering my IQ." Better to aim the angry villain at themselves. They knew from experience how much Villain adored movies and the brutal reaction to criticism.
Malice emanated from the Villain as they leaned back with a calculating tilt of their head.
"Darth Vader is Luke's father and Leia is his twin sister."
"… real mature revenge. Thanks for spoiling the trilogy for me, dickhead."
Villain grinned, the tension defusing. "I feel like I just deflowered you in some way. How does it feel to be spoiled?"
"Shut up." Hero grumbled, turning their attention back to the movie. Excluding the civilian's sobbing and Villain's hysterical laughter during Luke and Leia's kiss, the rest of the film passed quickly. Hero even found themselves getting lost in scenes before a siren would go by. They'd grit their teeth and try to ignore Villain patting their shoulder in mock comfort.
Once the movie ended, Villain handed the hostage off to their lackey waiting outside the house and paused. Turning back to face Hero, Villain closed the door behind them. "This Thursday, we're doing a full day of Disney. You're running low on popcorn, make sure you pick some up tomorrow."
Hero froze. Their blood ran cold at the words, at the thought of what could be accomplished in that time. "What’s your boss planning?" they asked quietly.
"She's gotten tired of holding back." An excited, almost manic gleam entered Villain's eyes. "Don't worry, I think you'll love what we do with the city."
Pure fury at the Villain and their own helplessness took over. Hostage forgotten, they lunged for Villain. They managed to crack one hit before invisible hands gripped and slammed them against the wall.
"Don't do anything stupid." Villain warned. They rubbed the spot Hero had struck them, a sharp shiner rising. "Against my better judgement, I've grown fond of our movie nights. I would hate for you to be distracted from Return of the Jedi by human remains all over your couch."
The hands on Hero tightened, and breathing suddenly shot to the top of their priority list. They fought for air. "Why… why are you telling me about Thursday?"
"Who knows? Maybe I like making threats. Reminding you of the position you're in. Maybe I like how you look when you're angry." Villain straightened their clothes and let Hero drop, satisfied with their point made. "Or maybe, like I said earlier, it's the popcorn. Seriously. Get some of that popcorn salt too."
Hero gasped for breath from their place on the floor. "Anything else I should get? Before the big day?"
Villain laughed, kneeling beside them. "I'm not that easy, Hero. You won't get any information out of me. Let's just say I'm very excited." They lifted Hero's chin, probing Hero with a piercing gaze. "Are you going to cooperate?"
After some hesitation on Hero's part, they nodded.
"See, I told her you would behave. Nice to know you're still predictable." They stood, giving a mocking smile before leaving Hero's house for the night.
Clenching their fists, Hero marched over to the couch and searched it for any bugs Villain might have concealed. The same process was repeated for the rest of the room. Satisfied, Hero sat and placed their head in their hands. 24 hours for the criminals to do whatever they wanted in the city… Hero shuddered at the thought.
Their situation was not, as Villain assumed, completely binding of Hero's ability to do their job. It just made it impossible to do without loss.
"911, what is your emergency?"
"Hero is going to be out of commission on Thursday. You need to call in heroes from other cities. The criminal underground is preparing -"
The operator interrupted. "Slow down. How do you know this?"
Hero took a deep breath. What good is a hero with no one to protect?
When it came down to it, they chose people over their secret identity every time.

What were some of your favorite fleurmione week fics? Any recommendations? (I didn't realize it was a thing until today and there are over forty stories.)
Tumblr media
More Fleurmione fic recs here: Pt1 | Pt2 ✨💖💙📚
Dance Avec la Vie by Sosh_022 (Day 2: Dancing)
(Listen. Listen. Listen. This is on a whole other level. It gives you an intimate look to a ballerina's life except—and are you ready? It's through the eyes of Hermione Granger, herself. But listen, that isn't even the best part. The best part? She'll fall in love with Fleur Delacour, who is also a badass ballerina like her. If you can't already tell, I'm swooning.)
Summary: In 2016, New York City Ballet performed a total of 58 ballets. Not one was choreographed by a woman. | "Classical ballet is all about women and the female form, but it is controlled by men." | "As a dancer you see a lot of male duets but you don't see female duets very often. We can't lift each other above our heads but maybe we can partner each other a little bit more." | Or, two ballerinas dance together and spark a revolution.
Lights, Camera, Action! (Are We Canon Yet?) by Sosh_022 (Day 1: A Crush is Revealed)
(Cuteness overload. Couldn't stop grinning the entire time. And Fleur calling Hermione 'wifey'—hello??? Why isn't anyone talking about this???)
Summary: Fleur guest stars on a TV show that Hermione stars in.
Just Gals Being Pals by DisasterLesbean (Day 6: Babies)
(A well and truly delightful read. Fleur and Hermione just constantly skirting around each other, everyone knows we can never get enough of that. Bonus points if the brightest witch of her age is a little bit oblivious to that fact herself...)
Summary: “If you’ll sign here for guardianship.” The wizard gestures to a line. Fleur’s hand shakes as she lifts her wand to the line. “You as well, madam.” Hermione turns her empty gaze towards him. | “Me?” Hermione exclaims. | “They specifically listed the both of you as Josephine’s guardians." | The baby in question is chewing on the wizard’s hair.
I Only Have Eyes For You by lipeviez (Day 2: Dancing)
(Don't touch me. Don't look at me. Don't even breathe in my direction. This one HURTS. I love it.)
Summary: A dance introduces Hermione to possibilities she didn’t know existed, possibilities she didn’t know she wanted, but there’s nothing to be done when the source of those possibilities has just married someone else. | A prequel to You’ll Lose A Good Thing.
Mutually Assured Attraction by lipeviez (Day 1: A Crush is Revealed)
(Because you'll need something fluffy to combat the pain from the one before this. And nothing says fluff than teaching the person you want to date how to ride a motorcycle! Ya know... if Hermione manages to in the first place.)
Summary: Hermione Granger gets roped into giving motorcycle lessons to Fleur Delacour, and wants to ask her out, but very well may die before she gets to.
As You Wish by Kamaro0917 (Covers most prompts)
(Fleurmione As You Wish AU. Need I say more? This one is also a multi-chapter, completed story! Yay!)
Summary: There was a time when she dreamed of finding true love, being swept off her feet, and riding off into the sunset toward her happily ever after. She grew out of that mindset long ago. The idea of marrying for love was just a dream for fools to cling to, and Fleur Delacour was no fool. | Everything changed when the new farmhand showed up.
Neighbors by lipeviez (Day 3: Jealousy)
(The tension in this one is through the roof. No, not because they're neighbors—or wait, actually, you know what? Never mind. That's definitely it. Rated E!)
Summary: Hermione’s flat has windows that face the windows of a flat in the building next door. This wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that Hermione can’t stop watching her neighbor. Oh, and her neighbor might just like her watching.
What We Are: Fleurmione Week Sneak Peeks by cationix, waxwing_Saint (Covers all prompts)
(THIS one is incredible. I smell a Fleurmione classic incoming. This is the BIG ONE.)
Summary: For Fleurmione Week March 2021, we're posting teasers from our Big Damn Project: | The Triwizard Tournament brought them together with a mysterious pull of attraction. Hermione wants answers but Fleur is willing to fight fate until it kills her. With a war going on--Fleur on the front lines and Hermione hunting for fragments of Voldemort’s soul--will they accept their destiny, or are they doomed to become a cautionary tale?
Once Upon a Time in New York City by drabbles (Day 6: Babies)
(Okay this one is just my measly attempt at writing a fanfiction for this fandom lmao because for some reason, Robert from the film reminds me so much of Hermione! Also, Disney Princess Fleur breathing whimsy into Hermione's colorless city life.)
Summary: When Hermione Granger and her six year old daughter moved to New York, she already had both their lives planned out. She would finally settle down with someone, give Rose the proper family life she deserved, and win as many cases as her law firm would allow. However, things take a whimsical turn when a strange Frenchwoman crashes into their lives, making Hermione question the true meaning of happiness and eventually, love. Or... the Fleurmione Enchanted AU.
I haven't been able to read everyone's contributions yet, but please I hope you take the time to read everyone's stories. Everyone's worked so hard during Fleurmione week, we're all just so lucky to have many talented writers for our rare pair 💖📚💙
And as always, I hope you enjoy reading! Please feel free to leave more fic recs on my ask box in case I missed any of your favorites, which I probably have! 🥺🥺💖

cardigan / p.p
pairing: peter parker x stark!reader
summary: “you thought i was dead?” after you go missing with no leads to what happened, you are presumed dead and peter writes letters addressed to you, to help with his grief
word count: 3k
requested: no
warnings: semi character death, heartbreaking angst :( , fluff
a/n: this is for @ariistotles lovely writing challenge! i am using prompt 9 for my fic and i hope you guys enjoy!
Tumblr media
two days. forty-eight hours. two thousand eighty minutes. one hundred seventy-two thousand, eight hundred seconds. that’s how long you had been missing. the team of avengers, including desperate peter parker sat around a table, staring at the very little evidence they had of your disappearance. it was only two nights ago when you and peter had been cuddled in bed and you had left to go home.
evidently, you never returned home.
peter ran his hands through his hair with frustration, eyes bloodshot red from crying. he was terrified and guilty, knowing if he had just walked you home, he wouldn’t be staring at the picture of you on the screen in front of him.
“we have no leads,” sam wilson stated,” the only evidence is this cardigan.”
peter knew you were wearing it when you left. he recognized the cute patches of stars scattered on the knitted sleeves and the oversized buttons along the ends. it was always so big on you, he didn’t think you would have bought it from that thrift store, but the moment you laid eyes on it, you fell in love with it. you had fixed up the holes and messed up seams, it looked like something someone would shove under a bed. but you took it into your care.
“she was wearing that after she left my apartment,” peter explained, voice cracking. the entire time he had been silent as they investigated your disappearance. “she almost forgot it but i reminded her.”
peter took a glance at the cardigan, instantly taking notice of the blood-stained sleeves.
“we have to find her,” he finally added, one tear slipping down his cheek. tony hadn’t spoken at all, and peter knew why. peter understood what it felt like to lose someone. there was a chance you’d be found again, but it was slim. you were just gone.
the next few days were hell for peter. they hadn’t found anything and all he wanted to believe was that you were at least alive. everyone around him seemed to be giving up already. peter had even overheard tony talking with the other avengers, thinking that you weren’t alive and he’d have to plan a funeral. peter refused to give up, he couldn’t believe the idea that you were dead. there was only a glimmer of hope left in some of the avengers. every day that passed, the more likely it was that you were dead. it wasn’t until two months of searching, they finally gave in.
tony kept the funeral private. it took everything in peter to just crawl out of bed that early morning and may had to help him tie the tie for his suit. his hands trembled too much to get it straight. he didn’t want to believe you were gone, but by this point, he was giving up himself. everything at the funeral was dark, the opposite of what you were like. you always had the brightest of smiles, your hair would always smell like fresh daisies from a meadow. everyone who gathered around was silent, staring at an empty casket, watching it get lowered into the ground.
peter found himself alone after the casket was six feet under and collapsed to his knees in front of the gravestone. tears openly fell down his face, as he stared at the name written on the stone. y/n stark. he wanted to stop making events like this so familiar. first his parents, then uncle ben. now you. the love of his life, the person he dreamed of marrying. some people see this as an unattainable fantasy because when you are young, they assume you know nothing. but peter was sure. you were supposed to be the one. his endgame. but you were gone.
a hand tapped his shoulder revealing the familiar face of tony stark. seeing him made peter fall apart as tony pulled him into a tight embrace. peter finally let it all out. with his shoulders shaking with sobs and soft cries leaving his breathless lips, peter parker was finally showing his grief.
grief was a fickle thing. it constantly changed. peter had been in such disbelief for the past months you were gone, but now he was trying to bargain with what happened. he gave his suit back to tony, he moved on from being spider-man, and tried living normally. he was trying to change himself for you. but it was hard. it took every amount of effort to bring himself out of his bedroom. the only thing that kept him going was the desire to do things you would want him to do. it didn’t take long for aunt may to take peter to a therapist. they could help him sort out the pain he was holding onto.
“tell me about her.”
“y/n was the perfect example of joy,” peter admitted with a desolate tone. “she was always looking to help anyone before herself. something she got from her dad. her hair always smelled amazing, like a garden almost. she liked to braid it, and stick flowers in it. y/n got the idea from tangled…” he paused, staring at the ground. he had planned a date before you went missing. he was going to take you to a lantern festival. where you could recreate the scene from tangled. peter knew how happy it would have made you. but you were gone. you’d never see the lanterns, you’d never live that dream.
“she had a cardigan… something she found at a thrift store, on the ground without a price tag. it had holes in the sleeves and she chose to patch them up with little stars. it was always too big on her, y/n always wore it with everything. i never saw her without it. she once forgot it when we left for a road trip, made me turn around to go get it for her but i was happy to,” a rare smile came onto peter’s face as he thought about the dimples on your cheek when he had put the cardigan around you. the smile faded,” it was the only thing they found when she went missing. it had blood on it and i know something bad happened.”
“i couldn’t stop it. i couldn’t save her.”
the woman in the chair across from him said nothing, just stared at peter as he avoided her gaze. after a couple moments, she began speaking,” you need to figure out a way to say goodbye to y/n. i understand how hard that may seem, but there are ways. i want you to write letters addressed to her. just start with something normal, you don’t have to address her death in the letter, just make it between you and her. the more you write these. the easier it’ll get to let go. “
peter stared at a blank piece of paper for hours that night. he didn’t know how to start. every time he picked up the pen his hand started shaking and he was too scared to write your name. with a frustrated groan, he jumped onto his bed, face buried in his hands. normally, peter would go to you to talk out his stress, to feel your arms around him but he couldn’t have that now.
that’s when he took notice of your cardigan hung on the corner of his bed frame. he took it into his hands, letting out a sigh. it was the only thing he had left out you. the only part of you that was left behind. so peter put it around himself, pulling his arms into the sleeves. it felt like you had your arms around him again and gave him the boost he had been looking for.
so he wrote:
my love y/n,
i don’t want to talk about you being gone yet, just let me have this moment to tell you the things i didn’t say. you were perfect. you are still perfect. i know that sees unbelievable to you, but every moment i shared with you, i cherished like a child would cherish a new toy.
except i never grew tired of you. you always came with new surprises. whether it was the time i thought you had never watched star wars and you admitted to being one of the biggest star wars nerds there is or the time i caught you crying to rom coms when we were friends, wishing you had that kind of romance. you were a hopeless romantic. mj said you were always looking for a disney prince of your own. i hope i was good enough to earn that title. i hope i gave you your dream love story. because every moment i spent with you was something exhilarating and i ever wanted to pass it up.
i just hope i was enough for you.
peter knew the letter was short, but he couldn’t bear to finish. tears marked the page with scratched out words and messy handwriting. he was supposed to write a letter every day. every day until he was able to say one word. goodbye.
slowly he started getting there. very slowly.
every day he wrote a new letter. they consistently got longer, but there were days it got short. he tried his best to avoid talking about you being gone. sometimes the letters were simple, saying i went to the grocery store for the first time in awhile. i saw your favorite snack and ended up buying it. i never liked it until now. i guess you influenced me so much.
there were harder days though. these days the paper would be stained with tears and may would come into his room and would find him crying. those letters always had the words “i miss you” and questioned why you had to go so soon.
there was only one thing he always did when he was writing these letters. he was always wearing your cardigan. he even began wearing it just around the house or to school. may never failed to notice and would wash it for him to wear the next day when peter forgot. having the cardigan around him made him feel comfortable and safe. almost like you were right with him. he even wore it to his second visit with the therapist, four months after your disappearance
“it’s getting easier to write the letters,” the brunette boy admitted, fiddling with the ends of the sleeves. “i’ve wrote so many already. it’s almost like i can still talk to her, even when she’s gone.”
the woman smiled. “that’s good peter.”
“but remember, the goal isn’t to hold on, you have to let go. you have to say goodbye.”
peter hated the sound of it. he couldn’t imagine a life without you in it, he couldn’t imagine moving on from you because every day he still missed you more than anything.
it took another six months for him to finally write a final letter. ten months after you had disappeared.
my love, y/n,
this isn’t an easy one to write. these past few months have been hell but i’ve rolled with the punches. i just left flowers at your gravestone. chrysanthemums, your favorites. it’s always been hard seeing your name on that stone and not seeing you next to me.
i miss every inch of you, y/n. i miss the feeling of your lips on mine and the tender kisses you’d press on my neck. i miss watching you fall asleep, i miss running my hand over your back while you snored. i miss seeing your beautiful face, the one that never failed to make me smile. every time i see a star wars movie come on, i’m reminded of your constant rants about padmé and anakin’s romance and how badass all the women of star wars are. i even still think about the day i met you. we were just kids, and you pushed over some other little kids for me. i think that was the day i knew you were important. it only just now dawned on me.
and the best part about you was when i felt like an old cardigan, under someone’s bed, you put me on and said i was your favorite. just like the one you used to always wear.
but i think the one thing i miss the most is just your voice. you always talked me to sleep on rough nights. it’s the same voice that got me through the trials of being a hero, the one that comforted me after hard patrols and nightmares. it was the one that sang ‘i can see the light’ from the lantern scene from tangled everytime we watched it. it’s the one i miss the most and i’d do anything to hear it again, y/n.
but for now, it’s your turn to listen to me. and listen closely. i love you. you were my soulmate and i still think you are. i loved you then. i love you now. and i’ll love you forever. we’ll see each other again, because you always come back to me. you’re my angel. my love. my dream. my soulmate. my darling. the love of my life. we’re meant to be together. i know one day we’ll find each other. and when we do… i’ll never let go of you again.
y/n stark, just do me a favor. keep on being you. wherever you are. i’ll keep on being me. i’ll carry on for you.
so now i just have to say one more word. one more word that isn’t forever because i know i’ll be with you. you’ll come back to me. i’ll come back to you. because loving you is like being drunk under a streetlight. it’s the thrill of living life and some kind of light near you. even without the light being right beside you. being in love with you is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
so here it is, y/n. here it is.
goodb-
peter was interrupted as he wrote, a hard knock from the door of the apartment. for a second, he waited, but it came again. it sounded urgent by how heavy it was and how frantically the person was knocking. he stumbled out of the chair, leaving the open letter on his desk as he fumbled with the lock. once it opened, peter had begun thinking he was dreaming.
because the person standing in front of the door, was you.
with his jaw slacking, peter rubbed his eyes trying to process what was in front of him. and to think he was about to write the word goodbye, and here you were, back from the dead. his eyes watered slightly as he opened his mouth to speak but no words came. he couldn’t comprehend the fact you were alive. “ y/n… no… how? how are you here? you were dead… this can’t be real.” everything hit him like an oncoming train, he was convinced he was dreaming or hallucinating. was this a test? was this testing him to see if he was actually prepared to say goodbye?
“you thought i was dead?”
this was what brought peter back to reality. he fell to his knees so fast in front of you, the tears falling down without a doubt as sobs left his thin lips, the ones you used to kiss. everything from the past few months came pouring out. “you were dead. everyone gave up and i didn’t want to but i did. i gave up, i failed you. i did the one thing you told me not to do because i was weak. and i couldn’t hold myself together at your funeral…” you knelt down as he sobbed and choked out every word, pulling him to your chest. “i wanted you to be the one to help me, but you weren’t there. you weren’t here to hug me before and i tried holding on for you. i tried and i thought i was never going to get over it and move on and i never did. i never did, y/n ,because i love you and you are the only person who will be constant in my life even if you were to fall out of love.”
“and i wrote you letters. i wrote you so many letters. i was writing one… just before you came… it was the last one, y/n, the one where i was going to say goodbye and now here you are,” peter’s arms wrapped around your waist pulling you closer.
“you don’t have to say goodbye anymore, pete,” you whispered, pressing a kiss to the side of his head before he finally got a clear look at you. you looked no different than before. you had a a few bruises here and there, but you were alive. peter couldn’t believe just how much time passed and you were still the embodiment of beauty in his eyes.
a smile formed on his face, a dimple showing on his cheek,”i knew you’d come back to me.”
with that, he pressed his lips against yours, a hand moving up to cup your cheek as yours moved to his hair, running your hands through the messy brown curls. your lips were soft, just like they used to be and they tasted just like your favorite cherry chapstick that you used to always use. peter relished in the tender moment, butterflies coming alive in his stomach as he pressed his other hand on the small of your back. you both pulled away gently, eyes still closed with foreheads resting against each other.
“i love you,” you said gently, pressing a kiss to the tip of peter’s nose.
he returned it with his own, murmuring,” i love you more.”
his heart fluttered in the comfortable silence and the air still held the same amount of love and adoration for each other as it did before. peter never wanted to give it up and he never wanted to let it go. with the cardigan still wrapped around his shoulders and your arms around him, for the first time in months, peter finally remembered how it feels to be secure and safe.
you both finally stood up, fingers interlocked and right before you both headed inside, you glanced at peter and asked with a laugh:
“is that my cardigan?”

Chapter 1: Before The Blip
SERIES MASTERLIST II Next Chapter
"Peterrrrr!" The 11 year old girl ran through the halls excited to see him once again
"I'm here y/n/n!" the boy replied, taking off his shoes to enter the house he stayed in way too many times to count.
Peter parker was y/n's babysitter since she was 8 years old. When y/n moved in, Parker was looking for ways to make money and may suggested he'd babysit the new neighbour's daughter. So he's been babysitting her ever since!
Before Peter could say anything, the girl attacked him with a hug. To say the pair were close was an understatement. Y/n would never let anyone else babysit her except for Peter, it didn't help that she had growing feelings for him as she's getting older. it was nothing but a ridiculous crush. Plus, she knows he sees her as a sister.
Peter laughed at the gesture, hugging her tighter as a reply.
"Did you get the DVD you promised?!" Y/n asked practically flying from how much she was jumping
"Yes! I cant wait for you to watch Star Wars, y/n/n you're gonna love it!" Peter exclaimed, showing her the first movie 'Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace'.
"well the first movie ever released was in 1977 'called Star Wars' but they changed the title to 'Episode IV: A new hope' so chronologically, the first film ever released is the fourth one. And we're gonna watch it chronologically for better experience!" peter was as excited as the girl was. he loved star wars and he always wanted y/n to watch the movies.
"LETS DO IT" she yanked peter's arm to the kitchen for making their annual movie night snacks, meaning, popcorn, Delmars sandwich, gummy bears, and Aunt May's famous homemade cherry pie (peter's favourite) will be filling the coffee table.
"wait wait wait-" peter spoke at y/n's mid-flop on the couch, startling her.
"what?"
"did you finish you're homework?" he asked causing y/n to groan
"PETERRRRR"
◤◢◣◥◤ ◢◣◆◢◣◥◤◢◣◥◣◥◤◢◣ ◥◤◆◥◤◢◣◥◣◥◤◢◣
"c'mon!" y/n said skipping happily in the park "let's sit on our bench!" peter nodded, slightly running to catch up. y/n and peter loved the park, its one of things they both like to do to clear their mind. the dark wooden bench with faded thin red streaks was the first thing that caught y/n's eye, ever since then, it became 'their bench'.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence and pointing at weirdly shaped clouds and happy little puppies circling the lush green filled park, Peter spoke up.
"I wanna tell you something" he turned to her side letting one knee rest on the bench while the other was planted on the floor.
"Okay" Y/n teared her gaze away from the blossoming flowers, looking at him with a confused head tilt due to his apologetic smile that was plastered on his slightly tanned skin. "What's up?" She fully faced him now, concern filling her instantly.
"I can't come on Saturday" he said, squinting slightly. He knows that next Saturday is their annual movie night. Even y/n's parents would watch it with them and occasionally aunt may would tag along, it's a tradition!
"W-What??" Y/n's eyes bulged. Disney is a very important matter to her, as it should be, of course. "B-but we were gonna watch the little mermaid next! Who am I gonna rant to about how drop gorgeous Prince Eric is?? My dad??" Her face dropped instantly from the news. She always looked forward to Peter visiting but Disney movie nights are another level of important. Not just because the movies are spectacular but y/n and Peter formed their special bond through Disney!
They even planned on going to Disneyland together so they could go on all the rides, Star Wars ones included. That's why they finished the trilogy as fast as possible so any chance they could somehow get, y/n'd know what Peter is talking about and it wouldn't sound as if he was speaking a language from a different planet!
"I know I know but it's a school trip!" he exclaimed "I promise once I get back, we're binge watching both of the movies I'll miss" he reassured her.
"Wait- TWO movies?" Remember when I said y/n's eyes were bulging a few minutes ago? Yeah scratch that, her eyes are as giant as saucers right now. "You'll be gone for two weeks?!?" Peter tried to hold in his laughter as hard as he can, but seeing the little girls pout was way too adorable.
"I'm sorry" he tilted his head like the golden retriever he is, his honeyed eyes full of sorrow. Peter never liked to see the girl sad, he was always protective of her, as if she was the little sister he never had. Cursing at himself his head was spinning with ideas on how to cheer you up. "I'll buy you ice cream" and there is the sparkle in your shiny y/e/c eyes again between you and me *whispering* nothing can get between y/n and her ice cream.
"Deal" she still tried to look mad at him but Peter knows how to let her crack a smile. He stood up, stretched out his hand for her to take and walked to the ice cream van.
"I honestly don't know how you're still pouting when infront of you is a huge ice cream van" Peter spoke while they were in line "that's honestly gotta be a world record or something" still, nothing. "When am I gonna see you're smile again?" He huffed. But him complaining made it worse, y/n crossed her arms and pouted even more, looking to the side.
"You leave me no choice, then." He sighed and walked closer and closer to her. Y/n was confused to what he meant but was determined not to crack. But not even a second later, she was attacked by a pair of arms tickling her sides.
"PETER!" The girl laughed but the boy continued on tickling her until it was their turn in the line
"There's that cute smile I've been waiting for" Peter chuckled giving the cashier a nod and his signature smile. He looked at the menu for a second and turned to the giddy girl next to him ready to devour the ice cream. "The usual?"
"Yes"
After eating their ice cream in bliss on their bench, y/n spoke.
"I'll miss this" she gestured to her half melted ice cream and the gleaming park infront of them.
"Me too but hey, its only two weeks" he smiled apologetically, also reminiscing this peaceful moment, since he knows what he has ahead of him (sorta) school and patrol have been stressing him out for a while so he's very grateful for the times he'd babysit the little girl beside him (but ha he really doesn't know what's ahead of him does he?)
"Do you swear on Princess Leia" She looked at him, pouting slightly. Peter laughed regretting showing her the franchise since she's been obsessed with it. Who is he kidding? He loves it.
"I swear on Princess Leia AND Luke Skywalker"
-Two weeks later on 28th of April 2018-
"Breaking news, half of the population of America and it looks like well...the WORLD is disappearing out of no where! Where are the avengers to help us now?"
Sitting in the middle of the room, legs crossed, arms hugging the only thing that would remind her of the boy, Mr Cuddles. y/n watched the news intently. Her mind not wanting to process what she had just witnessed.
Could this be really happening right now? half of the world? more than thousands, millions, billions of people, just...gone??
I mean she was thankful that her parents are still here. Every few minutes the little girl would check if they'd crumbled into dust as well or not. Luckily, they haven't.
But the boy, the one boy she wanted not to leave her alone, the one boy she made promise, who helped her go through a ton of shit since she was younger, was gone.
Seeing his name pop up as one of the 'disappeared' was the most heart-breaking thing the 11 year old could have ever seen.
The only thing spiralling her little head were two words.
He. Promised.
She could still remember the hug he gave her two weeks ago, not as a goodbye, he'd say. but as a see you later. She could remember the scent of his freshly sprayed cologne, his little empathetic smile, his gleaming chocolate brown eyes, only becoming a dashing color of hazel when light reflected on it.
He Promised.
"Do you promise?" He nodded his head in confirmation, eyes darting to the phone once in a while getting text messages from his friends for being late
"I promise"
He. promised.

uneasy lies the head (poe dameron)
Tumblr media
In the wake of her passing, the official, if somewhat symbolic, royal title of Alderaan has passed to from Leia Organa to her chosen heir, Poe Dameron. Along with his elected position as the Galactic Senate Represenative for his home planet, Yavin V, Poe is now burdened with the responsibility of a political office he never imagined holding, and is called to attend a summit of the galaxy’s leaders that will be held aboard the Starcruiser Halcyon.
This piece is based on a few things: one, me liking the idea of Prince of Alderaan Poe, two, my interest in Begrudging Politician Poe, and three, the new details that have come out about the real-life Halcyon experience that will be opening up at Disney World in Florida, which you can read more about here! I’ve been really excited about it for a long time, and just thought it’d be fun to tie one of my favorite characters in to this amazing new experience that will be coming soon!
(Content Warnings: mentions of Leia’s de@th, some slightly risque flirting between Poe and his wife, and a little bit of making out, but that’s about it! Word count is 5k.)
Tumblr media
Poe stands in front of the mirror, anxiously adjusting the epaulets of his tunic. They don’t seem to sit right on his shoulders, he thinks, passing a hand through their silvery fringe and watching them brush the snow-white fabric of his sleeves. This isn’t his kind of uniform, and when he looks at himself, he sees more a child wearing the spoils of a raid on their parent’s closet than the Senate representative he was meant to be. He tries tightening the high, pale collar of his tunic against his throat, swallowing thickly and watching his Adam’s apple bob beneath the colorless fabric. That didn’t help much dignify the image, he thinks, eyeing himself morosely.
He looks older. His beard is fuller, having let it grow out to appear more… wise, he supposes, and the grey streaks running through it match the ones appearing more and more every day at his temples. His tan fingers tease lightly at the end of his beard, trying to stroke it like he’d seen other, more senior politicians do when lost in thought (or at least trying to come across like they were). It makes him look pretentious.
Sighing loudly, he slumps his taut shoulders and rolls them a few times to loosen the aching muscles. He turns away from the mirror and steps out of the dressing room, entering the stateroom and collapsing onto the edge of the bed, his face in his hands. He hears a door hiss open and looks between his fingers at the emerging figure.
She’s still fidgeting with her hair, which is now lifted from its former looseness into a series of intricate looping braids. Letting out a huff, she takes her hands away, seemingly having resigned herself to leaving the hair as it was. Poe lifts his head a little, resting his chin on his palm as he watches her pat her dress and check the mirror in the dressing room, just as he’d been doing mere moments before.
She looks much, much better than he does. It’s an objective fact. Her air is stately and refined, with her gown framing her regally. The fabric is a delicate, pale blue, trimmed with fine threads of gold that interweave and flow, like braided ivies, trailing up her waist in a way that guides Poe’s wandering eyes to the loveliness of her figure. She seems to belong better to this world, with its mannerisms and socialites, its political politenesses. He never had the patience to be so diplomatic, even though that is his job, now.
He watches her pull a face at herself in the mirror, frowning at some flaw he’s oblivious to, and he stands up, coming to her side and placing his hands on the small of her waist, leaning his head on her shoulder and kissing her cheek amiably.
“You look like a princess,” he purrs, hoping his flattery will encourage her confidence. He hates seeing her unhappy with herself.
“I wish,” she responds, voice tinged with something wan and far away. “I… I really do wish.”
He knows what she’s thinking about: he’d been thinking about it, too. Dropping the air of adulation, Poe reaches for her hand and gently knits their fingers together, pressing their locked hands softly against her belly for reassurance. He meets her eyes in the mirror, and the two share expressions of loss.
“I miss her, too,” he murmurs. “I don’t feel like… like I can do what she did. What she left for me to do.”
He feels his wife squeeze his hand intently, causing him to lift his head up and meet her gaze as she turns to look at him, unfiltered by the mirror. Her eyes, clear and sharp, stare at him as she nods, then kisses his forehead warmly, taking her free hand and brushing it softly across his cheek.
“She chose you for a reason,” she whispers, soft and sincere, just like she always does. “Leia left you her seat and title because you’re the only person fit for the job. She trusted you.”
Her hand dips to his jaw and she lifts his head up from its morose slump. He cannot look away from her, even if he wanted to.
“I trust you, too.”
Poe takes in all the angles of his wife’s face, knowing that no single word of what she said was untrue, but searching for the possibility of a lie anyway in some small giveaway of her expression; after all, how could he be the one fit to carry on in the shadow of his predecessor? How could his shoulders carry the burden of her greatness, much less improve upon it? But there, in her eyes, Poe sees the truth, reflected over and over again: he was chosen for this job, chosen to carry on a legacy he had no option but to strengthen. He is the only one who could, whether he believes it or not.
He straightens his back a little, standing up taller,  and squeezes his wife’s hand in silent thanks, taking a moment to press their foreheads together and breathe in the scent of her. She is wearing perfume-- something they’d never had access to during the scarcity of the war-- and he marvels at how something so small changes the entire atmosphere of her presence. She truly embodies the grace and elegance of the woman who came before both of them, looking every inch the part of an Alderaanian royal.
Glancing back at himself in the mirror, Poe huffs; while she may look, indeed, just the way Leia would want the nation to be represented, Poe does not. He looks stuffy in his garb, at times like an old man in the too-tight clothes of his youth, and, at others, like a scrawny teenager in the baggy trappings of someone he was only pretending to be. She seems to sense his dismay, as she takes the initiative to comfort him, this time.
“You look dashing,” she smiles, adjusting his lapels and the ribbons of decoration on his chest. “Prince Poe Dameron, Senate Representative of Alderaan and Yavin IV. You’ll knock ‘em dead.”
At that, Poe lets out a playful, exasperated huff, rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, I’ll be great,” he grimaces, eyeing his form in the mirror. He raises his voice into a mocking lilt, swaying his head from side to side in an intentionally cartoonish parody of a stuffy bureaucrat. “Oh, Senator Y’Barra, your engagement commission is most dreadful! Shall we discuss its heinousness over tea and crescent crumpets? Garcon, we need more gold-dusted butter for our scones if we are ever to pass this bill!”
She covers her mouth to hide the beginnings of a smile and tries to reprimand Poe, affectionately slapping his chest.
“It’s nice that we’ve been asked to attend the summit, Poe. At least try to make some--”
“Don’t say friends,” he groans. “I don’t want to make friends with these people. They’re politicians; they don’t want to do anything other than profit, and post-war reconstruction is a hell of a time to make money for slime bags like these people.”
That seems to take her back for a moment, and Poe watches her expression shift as she sorts through her thoughts, her lips pursed, eyebrows arched. She then shrugs and nods, acquiescing.
“Probably. But there are probably also people like you: people whose service in the war and dedication to their people, all across this galaxy, led them to this job. People who just want to rebuild. Do better. You’ll find them, dear: you’re an excellent judge of character.”
She taps her fingers against his nose playfully.
“After all, you picked me, didn’t you?”
“If I remember correctly,” Poe teases, lowering his eyes to her lips and smirking, “You were the one to get a crush on me first. All butterflies and nerves anytime I so much as passed you in the halls. More like you picked me, huh?”
Poe catches her face take on the familiar cues of embarrassment and flustering; he can just tell he’s got her all a-twitter, and she pouts her lips, looking down at her shoes shyly as he starts to chuckle. It’s adorable to remember how flighty and skittish she was in those early days, and how enamored of her he himself was, and remains. Getting her all shy like this is a sweet harkening back to that early, giddy tension, and he dips his face down, hovering his lips just above hers, feeling her draw in a breath of neediness and--
“Senator Dameron,” a robotic voice announces through the commlink in the stateroom, freezing Poe in place. “The ferry is beginning docking procedures with the Halcyon. Please proceed to the boarding area. A droid will be sent to collect your luggage as you leave.”
“Ah, shit,” he growls. He’d completely lost track of time.
Dodging back out into the stateroom, Poe glances out the window and sees the looming mass of a gigantic starcruiser, a sharp body of glimmering steel and inky black portholes contrasted against the star field behind it. It is massive-- far larger than any ship Poe had personally piloted in the past-- and spans more than the distance his window could afford a view of. They are extremely close, and within minutes will be aboard the behemoth, where Poe will have to eat, sleep, and breathe senatorial and princely dignity.
He turns away from the window to see his wife making sure everything was packed and prepared for departure, checking the bathroom and dressing room before giving him a confirming nod: everything is where it needs to be. They are ready to go.
They walk towards each other and Poe places his hands on his wife’s arms, stroking up and down the bareness of her shoulders to steady himself. As he feels the warmth of her skin beneath his rough palms, Poe blinks with awareness and gives her a quick squeeze, darting off to the dressing room. He opens a trunk and lifts up the topmost layer of fabric, running back into the stateroom with it carefully laid across both his forearms, then turns his wife to face him and gently lays the upper corners of the fabric on each of her shoulders.
“The cloak,” he mumbles as he fastens the pale silver silk around her neck, “Don’t wanna forget that. A princess is set apart by garments like that.”
“Right,” she hums, admiring his hands as he fusses with her collar. “Sometimes it’s hard to remember that since you’re the prince, now, and I married you, I’m the--”
“Princess, yep,” grins Poe. “Princess Dameron.”
“By marriage only,” she teases.
“And I’m only the prince because she left an essentially honorary title to me,” Poe wits back. “But it suits you, at least.”
“You think?”
“Mm. Now, I think the prince owes his princess one of the tenets of royal responsibility: unadulterated affection towards one’s spouse.”
“Is that a tenet of your responsibilities?,” she smiles, brow cocked.
“I just made it up, but I like to think so.”
Once again, Poe presses his palms against the soft curves of her upper arms, squeezing in the grounding manner he knows she likes, tracing his thumbs along the creamily-smooth fabric now covering her, and he leans in close, admiring how the light shifts against her skin as his shadow draws nearer. He parts his lips, ready to feel the gentle swell of her soft ones against his, when, as if by divine interruption, the hydraulic hiss of the stateroom’s door fills the room and a silver-plated protocol droid peers at him through the now-open door. He grits his teeth to resist letting out a completely undignified expletive aimed at the droid and stares at it pointedly, trying to silently communicate that it had interrupted a private moment.
“It is time to board the Halcyon, Senator,” it chimes in the lilting manner all protocol droids seem to have, seemingly blissfully unaware of his frustration. “Please, come with me to the boarding area.”
Behind the protocol droid, a cargo lifter droid rolls by, seemingly waiting until Poe and his wife leave the cabin to enter. Poe sighs, but can’t resist letting a small chuckle out: both droids, despite their different purposes, both seem polite, in their own sorts of ways, and he always finds that endearing.
Looking to his wife, Poe gives a little bemused half-smile and shrugs his shoulders, as if apologetic but resigned. She takes his hand and turns, nodding to both droids with an impassive but gracious expression, one that Poe notes is more than befitting of an official such as herself. Distanced, but not dour, regal, but not recalcitrant. He loves it.
“Thank you,” she says, coolly polite. “Please, lead the way.”
The protocol droid begins its stiff-jointed hobble towards the boarding area and Poe and his wife trail behind, arms linked at the elbow as Poe fidgets with her fingers. He twiddles her marriage band as they walk, always comforted by the feel of it on her hand. He admires it as they silently proceed; it’s somewhat rough-hewn, made from hammered durasteel, a little uneven and dented in some places from the haste in which it was made, and Poe loves it.
He loves how it contrasts the delicate, fragile jewelry common amongst royals, how it’s not meant to glitter and shine and grab attention, how it ties her to him and he to her, with no regard for image or pomp. It is heavy and solid and made purely for the sake of love and belonging, and she wears it everywhere she goes with pride, as if it was the finest-cut Oshiran sapphire, or the most carefully sculpted gold. It is one of the crown jewels of Alderaan, now, and the thought of it-- of his parent’s simple, quickly-made wedding ring, forged in a time of war, without promise of any moment past the one they were in, now being a royal regalia-- makes his heart ache to bursting with unadulterated love.
Poe tugs her hand up and kisses her knuckles as they finally round the corner into the boarding area; somewhere in the back of his mind, he registers the droid saying something about how their luggage will be sent directly to their stateroom aboard the Halcyon, but he’s hardly listening. He’s looking at his wife, his rock, his tether, as they begin their socialite dance, seeking steadfast comfort in her as he prepares to have to play his part in a world he was never born to be in.
The droid gestures to a corridor formed between the two ships: passengers traipse from the shuttle onto the boarding area of the Halcyon, representatives from a myriad of species in a breadth of costumes and liveries. Poe and his wife exchange glances, knowing that these people will have some hand in forming what comes next in the political landscape of the galaxy, and that they, too, will be instrumental in forging the new governments of the rising Republic.
“Come on,” she smiles, trying to coax him along, tugging his hand and taking a step forward, “It’s gonna be fine. It’s not like my flyboy to get cold feet, hm?”
Poe chuckles and shakes his head, trying to dislodge his clouding worries, and walks in time with his wife, joining the throngs of senators and royals and presidents and diplomats making their way aboard the Halcyon. Some of them exchange pleasantries, others are locked in conversations: some even look at Poe and his wife and nod in acknowledgement, or turn to their compatriots and whisper.
Poe feels an embarrassed heat creep up the base of his neck; he knows rumors have circulated about his particularly unusual position as a representative for a dead planet and a living one, and about how he’d been named the next in line for a royal title he was not born into. He tries not to let it get to him-- let people think that they think, and do your job, Leia had always told him-- but the feeling of alienation and disbelonging hangs over him, shaming him into silence. He tenses, and keeps his eyes fixed forward, which grants him an ever-nearing view of the grand foyer of the massive starcruiser.
The Halcyon is unlike any other ship Poe has ever been on. He’d heard about starcruisers like this, meant to be enormous cruise ships travelling in luxury and style from one planet to another, filled with sprawling cabins and indulgent amenities, and had never even pictured himself aboard one. The thought hardly appealed to him: days, weeks, even, of doing nothing? Just wandering aimlessly around, decadent and opulent in one’s revelry? The mere idea disgusts him. Still, as he steps into the expansive entry for the Halcyon, he finds himself feeling something other than disgust: he feels strangely at home.
The area is bustling as ship workers and bellhops collect luggage and transfer it to droids, as greeters guide guests to check in areas and hand them keycards, as officers check passports and documentation against databases, all lit under the glow of thousands of lights, which reflect off polished durasteel and marble surfaces. Holo projections provide information about travel destinations and the cruise itself in hundreds of different tongues, while a massive projection of the captain glows a familiar blue and greets the boarding politicians.
Poe turns in awe, gazing at the dozens of porthole windows affording views of distant and nearby star clusters, at the navigational crew high above, checking maps and charting courses, and takes a deep, steadying breath in through his nose, squeezing his wife’s hand tight. The hum and thrall of the ship, with its thousands of moving parts and requisite workers, feels exactly like all the ships he’d served on during the Rebellion. He half-believes that if he closes his eyes and turns around, he’ll open them and see Leia there, giving orders and directing the workflow.
The memory sits on his heart, but instead of a heavy, lingering pain, it kindles a warm, growing fire: she lives on in him. She would be proud to see him carrying on the mantle, working to do what no one else has the skill, speech, or stones to do. She is never really gone. Never can be.
Instilled with strength and purpose, Poe looks to his wife, who is staring at the gargantuan hub of activity before her, almost taken aback by how bustling it is. He leans down and gently pecks her cheek, tugging her along and breaking her out of her trance. They’ve got places to be, things to do, royal engagements to avoid, after all. As they begin to move closer to what Poe believes is the reception desk, a Twi’lek in a sleek, almost military-looking white uniform steps in front of Poe and his wife, grinning from green ear to ear.
“Senator Dameron, Princess Dameron,” she greets, bowing at the waist respectfully, “I am Lyna’ame, and I’ll be directing you regarding your stay on the Halcyon. Thank you for honoring us with your patronage.”
“Uh, thank you for having us,” Poe stammers, unsure of how to conduct himself in such a position.
Lyna’ame looks up at him with a quizzical eye, but seems too well-trained to respond with anything more than a polite smile and a nod. She produces from the pocket of her grey-trimmed suit a pair of infochips, extending them towards Poe and his wife.
“You will be staying in the royal suite on Deck B, unit number eighteen,” Lyna’ame smiles. “These chips will act as your keys to the room and to any amenities you should wish to access, and will remind you of upcoming engagements or conferences you should be in attendance of.”
As if on cue, the small screens on the infochips light up and read “19:00: Senatorial Dinner In Ballroom One!” Poe blinks at it, then flashes Twi’lek a cordial but slightly cold smile, taking the chips from her hand and tucking them unceremoniously into his breast pocket.
“Alright, thanks. I think we can get it from here.”
She seems not to register his attempt to tie off the loop of the conversation, continuing anyway.
“You will also have access to all the facilities of the ship, including the swimming areas, dining areas, lounges, bars, activity centres, spas and--”
“I’ll check the brochure in the room,” Poe smiles, searching for an exit. “I appreciate it, but, uh, my wife is very tired--” --Poe nudges her with an elbow and she balks, then understands his intention and mimes a yawn, nodding sympathetically-- “--And I’d love to get her some rest before any hobnobbing, y’know?”
“Of course, your highness,” Lyna’ame says, again accompanied by a civil bow. “The elevators are to the left. Press your infochip to the pad and it will take you to your floor. Your luggage should already be in your room, and please,” she smiles. “Enjoy your cruise.”
Poe bows back, then leads his wife by the elbow to the elevators, where they tap their key card and the doors hiss open. As they board, just the two of them, Poe’s wife turns to face him and raises one eyebrow, haughty.
“Really threw me under the bus there, Poe,” she smirks. “‘Oh, my wife wants to leave this conversation because my wife is awkward and doesn’t know how to handle subordinate behavior from service workers’. Real nice.”
Rolling his eyes, Poe can’t help but smile, and instead of replying, drops his hand to the small of his wife’s back, grazing his fingers there for a moment before dipping slightly lower and--
She jumps, then giggles, hitting him with a shocked but not at all displeased expression.
“Did you just pinch my ass?”
“Maybe,” he smiles. “Why?”
“You just seemed so…” She touches his arm, searching for the right word, chewing her lip thoughtfully. “Severe, before. Lost.”
“Feeling better. Feeling… like I can do this, maybe. Or at least do what I need to do, even if it doesn’t look exactly like how everybody else might expect me to.”
At that she purses her lips and nods, and he can tell she’s happy for him: he’s not entirely out of the woods about this whole ‘galactic representative’ thing, and certainly not used to all the expectations that come with being the heavy head that wears the crown, but he’s going to be alright. At least, he feels like he is, at this moment, and that’s all that matters.
Poe finds himself allowing his smile to grow wider as he dips down and nuzzles her temple, teasing his lips over her ear, tempting and toying.
“I still hate the suit,” he whispers, sending her shivering, “And I don’t want to talk to these people like we’re all buddy-buddy--”
“--Acknowledged, Senator,” she teases, rubbing his arm in the way that lets him know she’s itching to get more handsy.
“But we’re gonna have a private room,” he continues, “And a lock on the door, and at least--” --He checks the infocard, which reads “17:05”-- “--About two hours before anybody’s gonna need us, so I say we shimmy out of these nice duds…”
Poe’s finger trails down the silky rivulets of her collarbones; he has to admit, he does find her massively attractive in this royal robing, but he figures it’ll be less hassle for both of them to assure he doesn’t get too rowdy while they’re wearing some of the best (and irreplaceably expensive) fineries in the galaxy, so he’ll have to bid her pretty little dress and luxurious cape adieu for their stateroom rendezvous. Not that he minds: the dress might be pretty, but the woman underneath is ten times more so. Besides, she can always put it back on again for the dinner, anyway.
“We go see what kind of minibar we’re looking at,” Poe teases, watching her roll her eyes, “Hop in the bath, and see where those two hours take us.”
“Mm, we’ll see,” she demures, patting his chest. He knows she likes to dance around it, never say anything too scandalous where someone else can hear, and he loves that; she extends the tension, making him wait for what he wants. He may not ever have been a patient man before, but she forces him to slow down, savor it, work for it. And that’s delicious.
The elevator doors slide open as Poe leads his wife out into the hall, kissing her jaw as he checks the suite numbers. They shuffle along, exchanging little pecks and touches in the graciously empty hallway (what would the other representatives think, she reminds him in a hushed tone as they pass rooms, if they saw the new prince of Alderaan and Senator for Yavin V hanging off his wife like a pubescent teen?) before arriving at suite eighteen. Poe fumbles in his breast pocket, keeping his lips planted on his wife’s neck, then slaps the infochip haphazardly against the door. It clicks open, and Poe doesn’t even bother to look inside: he just coaxes his wife in, and tumbles in after her.
The lights in the room slowly turn on automatically, rising from a low dim to a sunny brightness, illuminating white-panelled walls and a lush, wide bed, all the furniture sharply clean and sleekly modern, trimmed in shades of black and silver. A massive window shows the endless expanse of space beyond the double-layered transparisteel, and while Poe would normally be more inquisitive and peek around the room to admire it, he’s more than occupied as he pushes his face deeper in the warm, scented crook of his wife’s neck.
“Careful,” she warns as his hand starts to pet at the base of her head, eking dangerously close to the beginnings of her hair roots, “These braids took me hours. I don’t want to have to re-do them, Dameron”
“I get that,” he breathes heavily, “But you look really hot with messy hair and--”
“If we’re going to go to that dinner, I’m not going to go with my hair flying everywhere! I’ll look like a… well, you know!”
“Like a woman well-loved by her husband,” Poe teases, nipping at her jaw. “But, fine, we’ll skip the dinner, and I’ll just keep you all to myself. Nobody else has to see. In fact, I’d prefer they didn’t.”
His eyes glimmer with wolfish promise as he sets his wife down on the edge of the white-blanketed bed, staring at her as her skirts form pools of silver and blue. He’s serious: the summit dinner all but disappears from his mind as he looks at her; how beautiful she is. How elegant. So poised and pretty and his, all his, to love until all the suns swallow themselves and burn out. All these representatives won’t miss him at one measly, lousy dinner, right? Not when he has the love of his life to attend to, surely.
“What’s gotten into you?,” she giggles, kicking off one of her sophisticated shoes as she sits on the bed. “You’re acting like we’re on our honeymoon!”
Poe leans in and places his hands on either side of her hips, bumping his forehead to hers as he takes long, weighty breaths, feeling the heat radiate off of her.
“I just… This is a lot, right?”
“Mm,” she acquiesces.
“And you’re kind of… what I go back to when I’m in too deep. So, right now, all this summit stuff and the Senate and the council? I need that to take a backseat to me being with you. The person I love. And letting that be what guides me in what I need to do for… everybody else.”
She lets out a soft, appreciative “aw”, her eyes softening as she cups his cheek, and Poe leans into her hand, allowing a little lasciviousness to leak into his smile as he stares down at her.
“Plus, it’s kinda… you know, a little sexy, being somewhere so new and ritzy. I’m not used to this kind of stuff. That, and we barely got a honeymoon, if you remember--”
“Yeah,” she recalls, sighing and pinching the bridge of her nose, clearly vexed by the memory, “I remember. The day after we got married, that First Order outpost tried to open fire and you were up and out of bed and back in deployment after less than twenty four hours of being a married man.”
“Duty never sleeps,” he shrugs. “But… We can make up for lost time here, on this big, shiny, fancy-ass ship, huh?”
Poe wiggles his eyebrows with playfully rapacious intent, sending his wife into a fit of good-natured laughs. He adores when she laughs; it sends his heart racing, every inch of him alight with the joy of knowing that her smiles are because of him, the sound of her voice bouncing up and down with glee all caused by some silly little thing he’s said or done. Unable to contain himself, Poe leans down and kisses her, cutting off the sounds of her laughter, a deep, satisfied groan emanating from his chest.
“God,” he rumbles as they part for a quick breath, “I haven’t gotten to do that all damn day.”
“It did feel really good,” she sighs, clasping her arms around his neck. She seems to take pause, etching his face into her memory with her eyes, then comes to a decision: Poe would recognize that resolute gleam in her expression anywhere. “Alright, we’re staying.”
“...You mean it?,” he chirps.
“Yep. You tell them your poor, defenseless wife is laid up ill and needs your constant and most doting attention,” she smiles, kissing the tip of his nose. “Then when you’re done calling the front desk, you come over here and you help me get out of this dress and into that bath you promised.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he chuckles, then catches himself. “I mean, yes, Princess.”
“Mm,” she beams, teasing him with a pinch on the thigh. “Much better.”
They share another deep, drawn-out kiss before Poe manages to wrest himself away from her and off to the side of the room with the comm built into the wall, but glances over at her as he taps at the screen to connect with the front desk. She grins coyly from the bed, kicking one leg out in a pseudo-sultry, semi-silly way from beneath her sumptuous gown. Poe can’t help but feel a swell of endearment.
As the call connects, Poe sighs dreamily to himself; if all else failed, at least he had her, and with her by his side, he was definitely going to enjoy a very, very pleasurable cruise.

“What could be it, Niall?” Harry asks gently with a sigh. He slouches down further into his chair, crossing his arms lazily across his chest. He is bored. He has been bored for five years straight, but even more so now that his one interest has shut himself out entirely. Harry had not even heard from Louis, not since last night, not since he had gotten on his nerves so much that he was torn between knocking him out and smiling in surrender to the slight awe he felt. Louis is opinionated like no one he’s ever seen, but his voice is honeyed; high-pitched and indignant. Harry is nothing short of entranced.
Or, Harry is running out of time to fall in love, but with Louis, it seems as if there’s all the time in the world.
🧜🏻‍♂️ The Importance of Body Language by zimriya (11k) The Little Mermaid AU
Harry really has no idea how he’s going to get out of this one. After the little incident with the fishing wire, he’d been told that under no circumstances was he to visit the surface of the water, as he is the heir to the throne and his safety is essential to the continued existence of their underwater society. Or something. Harry loves his mum, but there’s really only so much talk of royal duty a prince can take before he does something drastic. Like purposefully disobey her strict instructions to stay under the sea for the rest of his natural life, and instead swim too close to a human ship and get himself spotted by none other than the unfairly attractive Prince Louis Tomlinson, for example.
Needless to say, Harry is fucked.

Prince Harry has spent the majority of his life trapped within the castle walls, forced to hide from the kingdom he never asked to be born into. He doesn’t want to be the next King of Eroda, because according to his father, kings don’t wear dresses, paint their nails, or braid flowers into their magical hair. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The case is of a vengeful Cinderella is closed, but as they prepare to head to the airport, Kate isn’t feeling so well. Rossi offers to drive with her to a pharmacy to pick up some saltines and Dramamine, and the rest of the team heads to the airport to wait. Reid spots Y/N chatting outside the plane with Dobson, and he instinctively starts towards her. She must see him out of the corner of her eye because she turns to greet him, but before either of them can say anything a strong hand finds his shoulder, holding him back.
“Hold there, Pretty Boy. I wanna hear the details of your Prince Charming moment back there,” Morgan says.
Y/N raises her eyebrows and he can feel his face flush. “There’s um, not much to say,” he stammers.
“Spence, come on, you were totally prince-like,” JJ laughs. “Kneeling down on one knee with a glass slipper and everything?”
“A glass slipper?” Y/N asks. JJ describes, in detail, how he played the part of the knight in shining armor at the cemetery to get Claire Dunbar to leave with them. He’s embarrassed through the whole tale, but by the time JJ gets down on one knee to kiss Morgan’s hand as he did the unsub’s, he’s sure his face is scarlet. Y/N is laughing along the entire time at his fellow agents’ melodramatic reenactment.
“Anyways, it was all very romantic. He totally swept her of her feet. The poor girl fell for him in a heartbeat,” JJ says. For a moment, Reid tries to discern what Y/N is thinking. Her face is unreadable other than a bemused smile. Her body language tells him nothing. But he can’t help but wonder – hearing about his heroics in the field, would she be jealous? Hearing how he played Prince Charming for Claire and kissed her hand. Then he wonders if he wants her to be. Is he curious because there’s a part of him that wants her to want him? Is he secretly hoping that she’d feel slighted by any hint of romance towards someone else? And if he is hoping for that, what does that mean?
But Y/N just says, “I sure would have liked to see that.”
“Next time we’ll get it on camera,” Morgan teases, ruffling Reid’s hair. He swats his friend’s hand away.
“You know, I love a good fairytale,” Y/N says, turning to him.
“Well this one was more Grimm than Disney,” he admits, trying to push the memories of the men Claire killed out of his mind. The story is over now. No more dragons to slay. Kate and Rossi return seconds later and it’s time to go.
Y/N follows Captain Dobson up the steps of the jet, and he follows close behind her. Lost in his thoughts, he nearly loses his balance at the top of the stairs. Y/N immediately reaches a hand out to steady him. Her hand is soft around his. He holds tight, both to maintain his balance and to keep a connection to her. All his life he’s been uncoordinated, but he’s willing to fall over his own feet a million times if it means having the chance to finally hold her hand. With her help, he ascends to the top step, finally making it onto the jet. It strikes him, this sudden reversal of roles. Only a few hours ago he was offering his hand to a distressed damsel to lead her away, using his words to woo her. But now Y/N is the one coming to his rescue. She is steady. Confident. She doesn’t need anyone to save her. If she did, he’d be there in a heartbeat. But she’s saving him. Little by little. Maybe they’re saving each other. One thing is for sure – she sweeps him of his feet without even trying. Knocks him out with a single smile. Quite literally puts his head in the clouds. And that’s better than any fairytale.
----------------------------------------------
She’s turning the pages of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, so taken by the story that she jumps when he calls her name. She turns to see him standing there, offering an awkward half-wave. Y/N can’t help but smile at the sight of him. His cardigans and ties are becoming familiar. He always looks more like a librarian or a professor than a special agent. Not that she minds one bit. The clothes suit him well, though at this point she’s convinced he’d look good in just about anything.”
“Is it good?” he asks, nodding at the book.
“Extremely. The prose is incredible and the narration is really unique. It manages to make a story so painful sound so beautiful. You can borrow it when I’m done if you’d like. I’m sure you’d finish it in a single flight.”
“It’s quite likely,” he laughs.
“So I hear we’re off to New Mexico,” she says. The flight is long enough that she could easily lend him the book now, but she knows the trip there will be spent reviewing case files and preparing for the work to come.
“Yeah, there’s five women dead already.” Spencer sits beside her on the bench. “The unsub seems quite advanced. It’s not looking pretty.”
“We’ve got to find you at least one pretty thing to see on these cases,” she says. It doesn’t seem right for him to travel across the country and return with nothing but memories of police stations and a handful of nightmares. She still hates the idea of ferrying him and his team to and from monsters. To and from danger.
He raises his eyebrows. “Oh? Like that coffee shop you found for us last weekend?”
She laughs at his pointed accusation. When they made plans she had insisted on visiting a new pop-up that Yeeqin had shown her on Instagram. The drinks were dreamlike pieces of art with cotton candy fluff, impeccable latte art, ombre iced teas, and donuts carefully placed over the rims of mugs. The line to order had been long, and the shop was crowded with people taking photos in front of the murals and installations throughout the shop. When they finally got their drinks, they were both disappointed to find they were more watery than the sad coffee found in police stations and tiny airports. The coffee didn’t taste nearly as good as it looked, especially for the pretty penny it had cost.
“Okay, okay,” she giggles. “You have a point. I will refrain from taking food recommendations from social media influencers in the future. But I’m sure I can find a nice bookstore or a garden or something worth paying a quick visit to in Santa Fe.” She pulls out her phone for a quick search. “Oh, like this bookstore! It’s called Collected Works and it’s lovely.” Suddenly she can smell coffee and the sharp spice of aftershave. Spencer is leaning over to look at her screen. She turns her head towards him and he shifts his gaze from the phone to her and she realizes how incredibly close he is. There’s only inches between them and when his hazel eyes find hers any words she had die on her lips. Lovely, is all she can think.
After mere seconds that seem to slip into eternity, she quickly breaks eye contact and looks down at her hands, her heart thudding loudly in her ears. “Um, but, uh, maybe there’s somewhere else…” she says.
“Oh my god, Reid, you are not going to believe what I saw this morning!” A cheerful voice calls out from across the hanger and Spencer practically leaps up from the bench. The voice is familiar somehow. A brightly-dressed woman is heading towards them surprisingly fast considering the height of her stilettos. Her shockingly orange dress matches the bright hue of her lipstick and the flowers in her hair. When she reaches them, her eyes widen, and a neon grin spreads across her face as she regards Y/N. “Oh! You have to be Y/N! You look just like Morgan described!”
Y/N’s eyes flicker to Spencer who gestures towards the newcomer. “Y/N, this is Penelope Garcia. Our technical analyst.”
Garcia holds out a well-manicured hand. “Technical analyst, internet goddess, and oracle of all knowledge. But tomato, tomahto.” Y/N stands to shake her hand. “JJ was right, you’re totally cute.”
Out of the corner of her eye she sees Spencer turn tomato red. She chooses not to question it and instead asks, “Why haven’t I met you before?”
“Well, usually when these crimefighters are flying all over to world to do their crimefighting thing, I stay hunkered down in my Quantico batcave ready to scour the interwebs for their every demand. But our creep of the week is particularly creepy – he’s hacking into his victims computers to stalk them and erasing almost any trace he was there. So I’m coming along for the ride to try and pull any data I can from their devices.” She grimaces. “Believe me I would much rather be staying put and calling them from my office.”
That explains why her voice is so familiar, she’s heard it in the background a million times as the team prepares for a case in the cabin.
“Well Captain Dobson and I will do our best to make the trip a little more comfortable. We restocked the galley and deep cleaned this weekend, so Geff should be in perfect form.”
“Oh my gosh I still love that our jet has a name. Geff is so cute. I’m never calling it the jet again.”
Y/N smiles. “Right? I feel like planes have a personality all their own. They deserve a name, too!”
“I feel the same way! I name all the things in my life, but none quite compares to Esther. She’s an orange 1975 Cadillac Eldorado and the one true love of my life.”
“An Eldorado? She must be gorgeous.”
“She absolutely is, and she drives like a dream. You should totally come take her for a spin sometime! If you can handle Geff you can totally handle Esther.”
“Hey!” Spencer protests. “You wouldn’t let me drive your car!”
Garcia rolls her eyes in mock annoyance. “See, calling her a car is exactly why I don’t let you drive her! Besides, you drove us to Comic-Con and your maneuverability did not exactly inspire confidence.”
“Well if you ever need a co-pilot for a convention, let me know,” Y/N offers.
“You’re into the con crowd?” Garcia asks.
“Please, I’m a total geek,” she laughs. “If it’s got a flying craft of any kind I’m in. Firefly, LOST, Doctor Who, Star Wars – you name it.”
“I totally love you,” Garcia declares, linking her arm through Y/N’s. “I love her!” she tells Spencer.
“Well I hope you have a little love left for me, Baby Girl,” Morgan teases, walking up behind them.
“Always, sugar,” Garcia throws back. She let’s go of Y/N’s arm but says, “We have to talk later.”
“Of course,” Y/N assures her, and she hurries over to catch up with Morgan.
“I didn’t realize you liked all those things,” Spencer says.
“Of course,” she laughs. “I guess it just never came up in conversation. We were too busy with books and stories. But I’m guessing you’re also a fan?”
He nods. “Although I’ve never seen LOST. Is it good?”
“Is it good?” she asks, incredulous. “It’s incredible. It revolutionized television. And it’s right up your alley. Mystery, psychology, recurrent numbers . When this case is over we are absolutely watching it together.” She only realizes after she says it that she’s practically inviting him over to her place. Or inviting herself over to his. Is that too much? They’ve been spending more and more time together, and she has yet to stop enjoying his company. If she’s being honest, she’s always looking for excuses to see him again.
“I would love to,” he says immediately. Relief washes over her. So it is okay. It’s okay that she wants more of these moments with him, that she’s trying to commit of these little conversations to memory for fear they’ll slip away and she’ll forget the butterflies she feels when he looks at her. And when Arthur calls her away to ready Geff for takeoff, the smell of coffee and aftershave lingers in her in mind long after she walks away from him.
----------------------------------------------
Three days later, the case is solved. The unsub is in custody. The victim is in the hospital with their family, where she will hopefully make a full recovery with time and with therapy. The Santa Fe sun is sweltering though. The team sits inside a small room at the little airport. The air conditioner is on full blast and everyone is sipping on water to stay cool. All of them are exhausted, and Reid wants nothing more than to take a long nap on the plane. Even Garcia is quiet. It’s a relief when Captain Dobson appears to inform them that the jet is ready for takeoff. They board Geff and settle down into chairs and couches, ready for well-deserved rest.
As soon as he does so, Reid realizes he’s left his book in the air-conditioned room. He quickly hurries back down the stairs and inside, grabbing the paperback that sits on the table where he left it. As he walks back out, he spots Y/N, standing at a locker in the hangar. She waves at him a with a smile.
“How was the case?” she asks.
“It ended as well as it could have,” he says. “But it was long. I think we’re all pretty tired.”
“I’m sure this heat isn’t helping. It’s worn me out. I’ve been putting off getting in uniform as long as I could.” She wears black pants and a short-sleeved white button-down, but the rest of her uniform is still in the locker. “So the missing woman is okay?”
Reid explains that she is, but he’s hardly aware of the words he’s saying. His focus is on her fingers as she buttons the top of her collar and ties her black tie with a careful and practiced knot. It’s looks far nicer than any of his slapdash crooked knots. She slips her blazer over her shoulders and adjusts the cuffs. He’s seen her in these clothes so many times before but he’s never realized before how good she looks in uniform. Or at least, he’s never let himself think it. It fits her well, tailored perfectly to her body. Reid is absolutely entranced as she buttons the front of her blazer, the little gold pair of wings shining above her pocket. He can’t explain why he suddenly finds this incredibly attractive, but when she puts her cap on and turns to smile at him, he completely loses track of any thoughts in his head.
It’s only when she closes the locker and says, “Let’s get out of here,” that he regains his ability to form coherent sentences.
“Wait,” he says. She does. Her cap is ever so slightly off-kilter. He reaches out to straighten it for her. As he does so, it catches a strand of her hair, and he brushes it out of the way. The gesture feels so intimate, and she stares at him the entire time. “There,” he says. “Perfect.”
“Thanks, Doctor.” The smile she gives him is different from the one she wore seconds ago. It’s softer somehow, and if he were to melt right now it wouldn’t be the result of the Santa Fe sun. They climb back into the plane. Y/N disappears into the cockpit. He puts his book back into his bag and then walks to the jet galley to grab another cup of water. Garcia joins him. As she pours herself a cup of coffee she says, “I had no idea you liked a girl in uniform.”
Reid nearly chokes on his water. “I – wait – what?”
“Oh come on, I saw you staring at Y/N.  The way you were looking at her? Ooh you are in deep, loverboy.”
“It’s – it’s not like that,” he sputters. “Not at all. We’re just – she – she’s my friend. That’s it.” Garcia quirks an unconvinced eyebrow. Reid sighs. “Look, even if I liked her, it would never work out. She’s…” There aren’t enough words to follow that adequately describe her. “Her. And I’m me. And besides, I’m pretty sure there are rules. Even if I felt that way…” He couldn’t. He can’t.
Garcia’s mischievous grin fades. “Reid, do you really think that-”
“Please, Garcia.”
She bites her lip and grabs her coffee. “Hey,” she says quietly. “No one else was paying attention. They didn’t see. And I’m not going to say anything.” She takes a step past him. “I just wish–” But she doesn’t finish the sentence. Evidently deciding against voicing her wish, Garcia returns to her seat. Reid prepares to do the same, only to notice the book sitting beside the coffee maker. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. With a little note that says, you can give it back when I see you for LOST.
In spite of himself, in spite of all the things he can’t and shouldn’t do, he smiles. He can have this. Sharing words and stories with her, and wondering which ones resonated with her when she read them. He picks up the book and sits back down just as Dobson’s voice comes through the speaker  to ask them to ask them to fasten their seatbelts and secure all loose items. Reid opens the book. That nap can wait until he gets home.

every time I remember devery jacobs auditioned for rey in star wars I hate that I can envision the ripple effect of disney + fandom racism it would have caused...
like realistically either oscar isaac or john boyega would not have been cast, though boyega might've gotten to retain his accent vs her adopting an english one. kelly marie tran certainly wouldn't have been cast. they might not have even created the tico sisters if there was no need to drive the white + black leads apart and into other characters' arms...
the whole reylo ship would never have exploded with obnoxious fans the way it did, because of racism, which is annoying because yeah I hate the ship, but it would've been scrapped to brutalize an indigenous rey— rise of skywalker & last jedi would never have been scripted the way they were with a woman of color at the helm— or worse tbh, it would be both more brutal AND still romanticized in-script or by fans (it's no coincidence when you see what other ships people who adored reylo support, and I've been blocked by enough people who got mad I publicly agreed w boyega specifically calling out twitter nerd racism to feel very comfortable talking shit about the distinct media consumption patterns they have in common lmao)... and if her casting meant we've gotten whitefinn, finnlo would be the ship we'd all be hating on in its place.
hell, finnrey might not have even been initially plotted in the first place (ik it was officially scrapped by disney/lf despite the seeds of it being established enough in the initial script it had to be stricken from the tfa novelization, but we might not have even gotten as far as having something TO scrap). or tbh maybe rey would've been sidelined for a whitefinn more... or maybe both would've been sidelined for extra kylo screentime.
it's honestly just all very shades of legend of korra vs avatar the last airbender—
like what are the choices you make with the indigenous female character when she's a love interest? would her brutalization at the hands of the story's "bad boy" be racialized & personalized in a nastier way than said villain's interactions with every other character, as with zutara? would all her accomplishments still be in service of somebody else, her mastery still come behind the person she in fact teaches, because she's not THE hero? does your follow up story leave her in a far more passive role than her male or non-indig counterparts, with far less screentime & influence even in her own family's lives than her romantic partner?
and then you flip it around to korra, and what kinds of torture are you willing to put the indigenous female character through that you weren't willing to do to your LAST main character/hero? what kind of torture will you say she deserves or needs to overcome to be "worthy" of a role someone who came before her didn't have to be physically broken into? what kind of nasty white gaze cultural genocide pro assimilationist subplots will she be turned into a mouthpiece of in-story? what kind of busted ass romances will she be made to test drive without being given an ON SCREEN unambiguous canonical happy ending?
and I'm sorry, but to take all that, which is frankly a HIGH bar compared to some lucasfilm properties, and put it in the hands of... what, people who have made multiple racist projects in a movie universe with multiple racist films already?
and I love the mandalorian tv show, don't get me wrong, but the franchise's best talents have come from star wars tv shows & the eu, and in mando we STILL got a scene of "a group of mandos led by an inexplicable white woman immediately tried to hate crime old ass boba fett because they heard his maori accent"?
admittedly that's one of my biggest mando-specific gripes (vs things I sort of generally hate about the star wars universe), but like, in 20+ years the universe has had ONE... ONE indigenous subplot going with django & boba fett + the clones (longer if you include to ot but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since we didn't see boba's face until the prequels; I'm also graciously ignoring the tusken raiders narratives, but mostly that's bc it falls under the umbrella of my general sw hates since they are literally the kind of background texture racism you'd see in a john wayne flick and I don't have the energy or sustained interest to unpack all of star wars' racism, it is a neverending chain of clown handkerchiefs). but from the moment we were introduced to django and boba as unmasked people, the franchise hasn't avoided racial fuckups around them even with literal decades of practice to work out the narrative bugs.
like I wish it could've been good, but ultimately, you gotta be honest with yourself & recognize the people running the circus would've found a new way to fuck shit up even if they'd managed to avoid kathleen kennedy's "white english brunettes" hangup, because there's plenty more equally fucked up baggage where that came from, AND fandom is frequently & consistently of the fucking devil. even my own false optimism couldn't sell me that bridge in new york, y'all.
