OKAY SO, IMPORTANT THING, I recently got my hands on Clip Studio Paint and I am still getting the hand of things.
okay, now for the ideas for this-
Both Geralt and Jaskier's designs are a mix of Netflix's The Witcher and the games and some other versions I've seen, PLUS Geralt's pointy ears wich were a spontaneous decision on my part
this came from an idea where Jaskier and Geralt save a young sorcerer/warlock/mage person who gives them the "gift" of shifting into animals(the wolf for geralt and the bird that I made Jaskier into is a Blue-Gray gnatcatcher)
THERE IS A CATCH, everytime they turn into their animal self, although they retain their personality and their knowledge of people they've met, they go off of animal instincts most of the time, although they aren't complete animals since they are technecally still human
Geralt is a very affectionate wolf and Jaskier is DELIGHTED
Bird!Jask keeps bringing Geralt knicknacks like flowers and pebbles and other stuff (in the drawing he is holding a buttercup)
Jaskier's ensamble is blue with a bunch of Buttercups as decoration

RWBY Winter Tales
Ghostly Winds
For @chaoslordjoe
Jaune and Yang smiled as they watched Tristan and Lionel shape their snowmen. While most children would make simple snowpeople with sticks for arms, stones for eyes and a carrot nose, Tristan and Lionel decided to go all out and make snow sculptures. Tristan's was a knight wielding a sword in both hands, while Lionel's was a puppy with a bone in its mouth. Jaune chuckled as he picked up the younger of the two.
Jaune: Seems like we have ourselves two artisans in the making.
Lionel: *chuckles* You know it! I already have a name for this dog right here.
Jaune: Oh? What is it?
Lionel: Gelert! Just like in the story of the Loyal Dog.
Jaune: Awwww, that's really sweet! I'm sure Gelert would appreciate the tribute.
Yang: What about you, little man? Who's this handsome fellow supposed to be?
Tristan: That's me. Some day, I wanna be a great knight! Just like the ones in Vale!
Yang: *nods head* Very nice! Saving kingdoms, swinging swords and riding off in stylish armour.
Tristan: You know it! But if that doesn't work, I can always be like you and Jaune. A Witcher for hire.
Yang: ...you want to be a Witcher?
Tristan: Eh, maybe. But only if I can't be a knight.
Yang: I see... oh... *frowns*
Tristan: Hm? Are you okay?
Yang: ...you know, I think it's about time you went off to bed! *smiles nervously*
Lionel: Aw what?
Tristan: But it's not even dark yet.
Jaune: Boys, listen to your mother. Night falls faster in winter. Come on now, scoot.
Jaune and Yang hurried back inside and tucked in their children to bed. In the living room, Yang cast Igni on the candles and warmed her hands. She had a saddened look on her face.
Jaune: *places blanket over her* Is everything alright? You seem tense.
Yang: *sighs* Of course I'm tense. Tristan wants to be a Witcher.
Jaune: *raises eyebrow* That's what got you worried? Come on, he's a kid. They're always saying silly things like that.
Yang: But what if he's serious about this? Ever since we took him in after his father died, he's always looked up to us. He sees as heroes, even after some of the terrible things we've done.
Jaune: Isn't that a good thing? He doesn't see us as monsters.
Yang: I know, but our life as Witchers isn't what I want for him. It's filled with pain, blood, hatred. *carresses his cheek* We're a family now and I don't want him to face the kind of dangers we did.
Jaune: *holds Yang* He won't, don't worry. Look, I know you love him, Lionel too, but I think you're letting this get to your head a little. Kids change their mind all the time. Remember when Lionel was adamant about hating turnips. One bite of your roast changed that and now he begs for more every day.
Yang: *chuckles* Yeah, you're probably right. I guess I just didn't realise how hard being a mom would be. *turns to Jaune and kisses him* Thank you, sweetheart.
Jaune: Always. Now can I get some of that blanket? It's freezing.
Yang: *laughs and opens the blanket* Get in here.
Jaune sat on Yang's lap as she draped the blanket over both of them. Outside, the snow started fall heavier and the wind picked up. The sound of hooves thundered the ground as a group of knights in jet black armour raced across the landscape. They screeched and howled, their eyes glowing red as hot flames. Any who came into contact with them would never see their old life, their souls now belonging to the riders. Many nations and kingdoms across Remnant feared them, for they were wraiths that brought the omen of war. They were the Wild Hunt... and they were sending a message.

Knight in Shining Leather
I do not give anyone permission to repost or copy my work!!!
Warning 18+: Violence , Cursing , Attempted SA , Blood , Gore .
Pairing: Geralt Of Rivia(modern) x Nessa (Black!Plus Size Female)
Description: Geralt being a knight in shining armor.
Word Count: 2.2K
One shot
It was a beautiful autumn night. The night’s air smelled of cinnamon and pumpkin. With it being just cool enough for her to wear a cardigan over her shoulders. Pretty soon, she would get too warm to even rock it.
It was roughly 9:45pm and she had come from a night out with the girls. Her best friend insisted that she drive her home since she stayed so close by. But Nessa was too hardheaded to let her do that. Besides, the walk wasn’t even 20 minutes away.
But a lot can happen in 20 minutes can it?
Her thick heeled boots clicked loudly on the asphalt, echoing throughout the street and bouncing off of the other buildings. She lived in a small town, so it was no surprise that almost everyone was in the house by now.
Nessa had her hands tucked in her pockets, at this point walking absentmindedly. She didn’t even realize there were two men walking about a few yards behind her. She didn’t think much of it, perhaps they were trying to make it to their destination too.
But their footsteps grew a little impatient.
This caused her to take further strides; holding her purse tightly in her arm as she tried to sneak her hand into it to retrieve her pepper spray.
‘Get her!’ One of the males exclaimed.
A panicked gasp escaped her lips as she did her best to take off but they were close enough to snatch her up by her cardigan. ‘HELP!’ She exclaimed before a man placed his large hand over her mouth and held a butterfly blade against her face. ‘Shhhh, shhh. Now, just be a good girl.’ He whispered against her ear.
She then bit down into his fingers and stepped on his foot. The criminal yelped out in agonizing pain.
‘Fuck you!’ She exclaimed before she was instantly grabbed by another male.
‘Get the bitch into the alley!’
‘No! No! Stop!’ Nessa begged and pleaded as she tried her best to fight back. But they weren’t having it.
They slammed her against the wall and she whimpered out in pain. ‘Urgh!’ She fell to her hands and knees. ‘Please— take whatever I have… it’s all material— I don’t want it! Please.’ She insisted, sobbing as she held her chest.
The bald headed guy began to dump out all of the contents in her purse and searched through it. ‘Awww, the bitch ain’t got nothin’. Lipstick, tampons, some other make up, — a wallet…’ he then looked at her name and then started going through her wallet where he snatched out $500. ‘I found a jackpot…’ then he walked over to the the ginger haired gentleman who towered above her.
‘How much ya find?’
‘$500. And It’s a Chanel wallet, taking that too.’ The male chuckled.
Nessa was on her knees before them as if she were praying to her God. Her hands shook as if her bones were chilling in the Arctic.
‘Nice,’ the ginger chuckled as the bald guy passed him some cash. ‘Now, the question is… what do we do with you?’
‘Hmmm. She’s pretty cute. She’s thicker than the rest of em. And you know I looove when they fight.’ He said as he shoved the wallet and the cash in his back pocket.
She instantly knew what baldy meant, and it caused her to panic a bit more. Until suddenly, the ginger just happened to step out of the way, and the bright LED street light caused a thick shard of glass to glisten in her eye.
Carefully leaning down as the two men bickered about who were going to have their turn with her first, she then grabbed the glass in her hand and waited.
The ginger sighed and rolled his eyes, ‘whatever. Fuck it. I’ll hold her still.’ He then squat down before her, ‘Alright sweet heart, you’re gonna—‘
Nessa instantly swiped the glass upward, aiming to stab him beneath his chin but instead, slicing his cheek.
‘AUGH!’ He practically jumped back; feeling the stinging pain at his cheek. Ginger grabbed the gasp and looked at the bright red blood in his palm. ‘You fucking bitch!’
His partner instantly brought her up to her feet, disarmed her and slapped her across her face so hard, he split the inside of her cheek.
She fell to the ground, her mind spinning as if she had swallowed a whole bottle of tequila. She could only hear the sound of their voices. They were so loud in her ears.
‘Kill that bitch! Kill her!’
She didn’t even know who was saying, all she knew was that she was pretty sure she was going to die in this filthy ass alley. And it would probably take her loved ones days to find her knowing these fools.
The ginger some how had the strength to pull her up to her feet. ‘You fucking— BITCH!’ And he kneed her in the stomach before she fell back down to the ground again. He kicked her, several times in the ribs.
Nessa whimpered out, choking on the air that was fighting so hard to come into her lungs. She lifted her hand up, in a “I surrender” kind of way, ‘please. Stop.’ She was too weak to scream for hell at this point.
‘Stop? Haha… oh wait til we’re done with you… get her up.’ Ginger said to Baldy.
Suddenly, everything felt like it was moving much slower than she was. Between the two antagonists, was a pair of bright golden eyes that reflected in the shadows. She thought she was hallucinating so she just laid there, accepting her fate that was to come.
When Baldy lifted her up to her feet, her head rest back against the brick wall. ‘Come on… make it quick.’ She breathed out tiredly.
Ginger chuckled and then Baldy chimed in. ‘Suit yourself.’
Suddenly, a bright flash whipped through the air like something out of a supernatural movie.
Nessa felt Baldy’s grip on her grow weaker and she noticed a thin line across his neck. A dribble of blood came leaking from his lips and his nose. She then noticed the sunken glare in his eyes.
His neck became a waterfall of his blood and a millisecond later, his head fell to wet the concrete and his body followed.
Nessa felt her stomach turn at the sight. She stumbled backwards in fear; immediately covering her lips to hold back the throw up that tried to fight its way out.
Ginger let out a scream as he saw his buddy’s head roll at his feet.
She felt too damn sick and scared to move really. Also, she couldn’t get over — how could someone be that talented with a blade that:
A.) No blood had spilled on her.
And
B.) None of them were able to see or hear him coming.
Ginger instantly pulled his gun out and walked over towards Nessa. ‘Whose there!? Come out!’ He snatched her up and pointed the gun at her head. ‘Come out! Or I swear to God, I will blow this bitch’s brains out!’
‘Please—‘ she started as she held her hands up.
‘SHUT UP!’ Ginger yelled as he looked all around. ‘Alright,’ he then clicked off the safety, ‘I’ll give you to the count of 3… come out— with your hands up… and I won’t kill her…’
‘Why would you think they’d come out for me?! I-I don’t even know what’s going on!’ She said out as she wiped her bloodied nose.
‘Shut. The fuck. Up. I swear you’re making this so much easier!’ He said as he continued to look around, ‘ONE! …. TWO!….’ He pressed the barrel against the back of her skull.
On three, a white haired male stepped from out of the shadows; those damn golden eyes making an appearance before he did. He wore black leather, and held a huge sword in his right hand. He had a scowl on his face that could kill instantly.
Ginger’s mouth fell slightly as he watched the tall, unearthly being approach the both of them. He stepped back, ‘Y—you… it can’t be. B-BACK UP!’
He just kept walking towards them. The sound of metal clinked with each step.
Ginger had finally hit the wall and Nessa looked back at the both of them.
‘Y—you’re dead! Y-you’re suppose to be dead!’
‘Says who?’ The white haired male asked, ‘You?’ His head fell to the side. Then he looked behind him, noticing the women who still stood there. He then looked back towards Ginger, ‘Go ahead… shoot her.’
Nessa’s eyebrows tugged into one in confusion. She wanted to impose on this reunion but she was hurting too bad to talk.
Ginger’s bottom lip trembled as much as his wrist did when he held that gun.
‘Go ahead…’
Ginger swallowed his spit, glancing over at the beautiful woman. He just didn’t have the guts.
The white haired male let out a sigh, ‘I knew it,’ and stabbed Ginger in his abdomen with the shiny sword.
Ginger began to choke. Wheezing as if he’d punctured his lung.
Nessa let out a harsh gasp and covered her lips in shock.
‘You’re… a coward.’ He twisted the blade to open the gaping wound more, ‘You pray on the weak… women and children… you and your friend don’t deserve to breathe for another second.’
He then snatched out the sword from Ginger’s abdomen and the male fell forward.
Nessa just stood in her spot, watching the man who just tried to kill her moments before, choke on his own blood and eventually took his last breath as the rest of him seeped into the cracks and crannies of the destroyed asphalt.
She was too frightened to scream, to run but also… her body was riddled with pain. Anything extreme would’ve probably caused her to pass out. So instead she asked, ‘A-are you gonna kill me next?’
The being then pulled out a dark cloth and wiped his shiny sword off in one swipe, ‘If I wanted … you’d be dead already.’
Well that was quite evident. She took in a deep breath as she just watched him sheath his sword and bend down to go in Ginger’s pocket.
She peaked over, ‘… he-he said you were suppose to be dead… are you like someone important?’
He didn’t say anything, instead he retrieved her money from the corpse and then ventured to the next.
‘Could I at least— know your name?’ She asked as she began to pick up her purse and the rest of her belongings. ‘You did save me after all, I would like to know who you are… In case I don’t ever see you again.’
He smirked as he grabbed her wallet out of the headless corpse and looked at her ID. She had a glorious smile. A smile that could turn any rainy day into sunshine.
Vanessa Hodge, December 18th, 1997, Address…
He took a mental note of her address before slowly rising to his feet and walked over to her.
She looked from his hands to his chest, that donned a silver necklace with a wolf engraved in it. She wondered what that meant.
‘Here,’ His voice brought her out of her thinking trance, ‘Your things.’ He looked down at her as she rose to her feet and threw her purse over her shoulder.
‘Thank you.’ She said softly before wincing at the pain in her cheek.
He lifted her chin to examine her.
Nessa hissed at the sudden, searing pain.
‘They most certainly did a number on you…’ he said as he looked at her split eyebrow. ‘Come. Let’s get you fixed up.’
‘Alright… only— if you do me a tiny favor?’
‘Hmm.’ A mere stranger, asking him for favors? He wasn’t the type to be handing those out. Especially without pay.
Yeah, she had no idea who he was.
‘You tell me your name…’
Was that it? She wanted to know his name? She almost got taken advantage of, got her shit pushed in and almost got her brains blown out but — she wanted to know his name?
‘I-I think it’s fair… I’d like to know who my knight in … shiny leather is.’
It grew quiet once more before he rested his hand on the handle of his sword and lifted his head with a gentle smirk.
‘I mean I think it’s also fair because you’re still a complete stranger and—‘
‘For someone who is in a lot of pain, you sure do talk a lot.’ He said as he shifted his weight and folded his massive arms across his chest.
Nessa felt the heat rise to her neck, her cheeks and then her ears. She looked off to the side, trying to avoid eye contact for a moment.
God you’re gonna blow this.
‘My name is Geralt. Now, if that is all you request, we should leave now.’
She let out a gentle puff of air and quickly walked towards him, ‘Lead the way.’ She shrugged.
Geralt swiftly turned around and they headed in the direction Nessa was heading.
‘So, you’re gonna tell me what you do and why you walk around with those things?’ She asked; swiping her dainty manicured finger at his silver handle.
‘No.’ He mused
‘And— Please don’t touch the swords.’ He said, hearing the cling that she left behind with her touch.
‘Oh— sorry.’

Her Price
(Geralt x OC)
!!!MINORS DNI!!!
Summary: Former brothel worker, Mary, is traveling with Geralt and Jaskier. In an attempt to contribute more to the group, she does something rash that forces a confession out of Geralt. Big angst.
TW: prostitution, rough/low-key abusive sex, bite marks/bruises/hickies left from said sex, dom! male, arguing, swearing
Tumblr media
Mary had joined Geralt and Jaskier on their journey about a month ago. Since then, the trio had fallen into a nice rhythm. At each town they visited, Mary’s job was one she completed while the boys waited on the edge of town. First, she would go into the market and use her “charms” (breasts) to persuade the merchants to give her a discounted price for any supplies they needed.
Next up was the inn, where she would flirt her way into getting the innkeeper to give her and her “friends” a cheaper rate. Only then, once prices were negotiated low enough, would the boys come into town. This system worked without a hitch nine times out of ten.
Occasionally, the innkeep would be too upset by her friends turning out not to be a couple more pretty women –one of them was a Witcher, for fuck’s sake– and he’d kick them out. Though, this had only happened a few times, and Mary has become careful to use more vague language about her travel companions.
Geralt would go out and fulfill any contracts whilst Jaskier performed at the local inn or tavern.This is where they got their coin from.
Sometimes, Mary’s job would also include patching up Geralt after a bad run-in with a creature. She knew a fair bit about fixing injuries, seeing as her mother had been her town’s Healer growing up. Before she died, that is, and Mary was forced to join a brothel to keep off the streets.
As disgusted as people were about her profession, she didn’t mind it much. Sex never meant anything to her except for a steady income.
If she was being honest, she was more grateful for the sense of adventure she received from traveling with the pair than she was for the opportunity to leave the brothel.
Just an hour ago, they’d arrived at a small town in Velen, and the usual plan was going swimmingly. Mary had gotten all necessary supplies with coin to spare, and had negotiated their stay at the inn for nearly half price! A new record for her. Excited to share the news, she went and retrieved Geralt and Jaskier from the outskirts of town.
“Good job! What did you do, sleep with him?” Jaskier joked, throwing an arm around her shoulders in celebration.
Mary was mildly uncomfortable at the insinuation, and it made her think: did he silently want her to? She could probably get the price even lower if she did. Truthfully, she didn’t do a whole lot of the heavy-lifting, and maybe this was Jaskier commending her for what he thought was her finally pulling her weight. However, she didn’t get a chance to be uncomfortable for more than a moment, because in typical Jakier fashion, he just kept talking.
“Damn, Mary. I think that’s your best bargain yet! You hear that Geralt? We have coin enough for all the ale we can drink! Mary, will you drink, too? You never do, and I find it quite strange. Of course, if you don’t want to…”
She had learned to tune out his ramblings after a week or so. He hardly ever sought a reply, and a simple humm sufficed when he did.
After tying up Roach, they finally meandered into the inn. The innkeeper merely laughed at the sight. “You’re one tricky lady, you know.”
“Oh, thank you, sir. I do try.” Mary took a small but dramatic bow.
The three of them all headed to their separate rooms to put away their belongings.
Geralt quickly headed off to fulfill a drowner contract, leaving Jaskier to make some coin downstairs.
Mary had no job left to do, and she was starting to feel useless; Jaskier’s joke had wedged itself into her thoughts.
How much did she contribute, really? Enough to not put a strain on the two? They had been awfully tired lately, the both of them.
Guilt overwhelmed her. Of course, they were too decent of men to actually ask her to sell her body, but perhaps it had been an expectation all along, or the reason they brought her along in the first place — the thought of more coin, and free inn visits. Had she been a burden, not using her skillset to provide for the group the way they did?
Geralt was always saying that he needed new armor, or supplies to upgrade what he had, but it was too far out of their price range. She considered the idea of him being able to better defend himself if only they had more money. Increased coin meant a decrease in his injuries.
Well, it was decided. She needed to start making as much coin as the other two did.
There was no brothel in this town, so no one would see her as competition if she went downstairs and did some business.
Most men in the town lived there and didn’t really travel, she had discovered through talking with a few. Some were married, but quite a few were single or waiting for a girl to reach maturity.
If they liked the young ones, she could accommodate. She knew how to look up through her lashes and act a little dumb.
After making her way around the room, swaying to Jaskier’s music, she finally spotted her target. He was looking at her almost predatorily, and his clothing quality told her he had the money she needed.
She approached, a sadness in her glossy eyes as she took a seat right beside him.
“Hello, missy.”
“Hi.” She made her voice nice and sweet and sent him a smile.
“You alright, there? Lookin’ awfully distraught.” He noted, turning in his chair to face her.
“Mm-hmm. ‘M fine.” She let a tear fall.
“Don’t give me that crap, sweetheart. Tell me the truth.” He was commanding it of her, his pupils large in satisfaction.
She sniffled. “It’s just… it’s… I don’t want to complain, I-“
“Honey, it’s okay. You can tell me.”
She stared at him with her big doe eyes before relenting.
“It’s my ma. She’s sick. I’ve been trying to make enough money for her medicine, but it’s so hard, trying to make coin around here. I’m not strong enough to help on the farms, and I-“ She let her voice crack.
“Oh, it’s alright.” He rubbed her back, but it was awfully low to be comforting.
“I don’t know what to do.”
He paused to think while she wiped her eyes. “Well, I could help you out.”
“Really?” She shot her head up in excitement. “Thank you, I-“
“But not for free.”
Exactly as she foresaw, word for word.
“W-What do you mean? I don’t have anything to trade, I’m sorry.”
“Oh, we’ll come to an agreement, I’m sure. You have a room here?”
“Uh-huh.”
He tsked at her. “Use your words, now.” She wrote that in her brain for later, it would certainly come in handy.
“Yes. Yes, I do. The third one on the left is mine.”
“Good.” He placed his hand on her jaw in encouragement. “Let’s head up there, shall we?”
Faking her virginity had always been easy, especially when she was younger and could tell men who were passing through that it was her first day on the job. Now, she had to lie a little more complexly, but it still wasn't hard.
The man had surprising stamina, and they went for at least three hours. Long enough for Geralt to come back.
He and Jaskier shared their evening experiences as they trudged up to their rooms. The noises from down the hall stopped them both abruptly.
“Who’s in there with her?” Jaskier asked quietly.
“I don’t know! You’re the one who’s supposed to have been with her all evening!”
“I saw her flirting with quite a few of the men. However, I didn’t know she took one to bed.”
Geralt was shocked to hear this— Jask knew of his feelings for her.
His tone was piercing, “And you just let her?”
Jaskier turned to his companion with his brows raised. “Let her? She’s not a child, Geralt. She may sleep with whoever she pleases.”
“I-“
“And don’t you complain about those feelings of yours. You’ve had plenty of opportunity to express them, and you’ve been too chicken shit. These are the consequences.”
Jaskier was done with Geralt’s emotionally-constipated bullshit and slammed the door to his room.
Geralt’s hearing was superior to most, meaning that he could hear every sound escaping her lips.
So many times had he imagined those sounds, had he prayed that he’d get to hear them. Now that they rung upon his ears, he hated it.
He wanted to draw those beautiful moans out of her. Not some Velen low-life who would be too wrapped up in his own pleasure to truly care about hers.
He didn’t mean to keep listening, but he was frozen with indecision. Though, the more he did, he could hear the slight inflection in her tone that indicated the fakeness of these sounds. She was incredibly good at hiding it, but it was there.
Why was she in bed with this man if she was not enjoying herself? He had to remind himself of Jaskier’s words. If she wanted to stop it, she would.
He couldn’t take another minute of hearing their bodies collide, thus he stormed out of the inn. He couldn’t sleep next to that.
Instead, he found himself in the stables with Roach. She was giving him a look as though she knew the situation, and was judging him for it.
“Fuck off, I know.”
He couldn’t be mad at Mary, he really couldn’t. He had given her no inclination of his desire for her. She was completely unaware of the pain she was causing him. It was not her fault. The only person to blame here was himself.
He would tell her in the morning, he decided. She would never sleep with anyone but him again. She would never feel the need to, he would make sure of that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the morning, Mary woke up sore and bruised. The man —whom she never learnt the name of, as he preferred “sir”— had been a rougher man than she’d taken him for. He liked to see her cry.
Nothing she couldn’t handle, but still draining. All in all, it was not one of her favorite nights.
However, she didn’t mind it so much after finding the large sack of coin on her nightstand, far more than she expected, and definitely enough for Geralt to buy new armor with.
She squealed in glee, dressing herself and packing up quickly. When she exited her room, Jaskier was just about to knock.
“Oh, Jask. Good morning!”
His eyes widened at the sight of her skin littered in marks. “Jesus, Mary! Did he do that to you?”
She followed his line of vision down to her chest, arms and neck, only now noticing how bad it looked. “Oh, God. I look like the whoriest whore around.” She tugged on her coat, despite it being a humid, late-spring day.
“Doesn’t that hurt? Mary-“
“Please, Jask. This is nothing. I’ve had men do far worse. Anyway, where’s Geralt?”
Jaskier hesitated to respond, but eventually let her drop the subject.
“He left yesterday, haven’t seen him since.”
“Left? To go where?”
“Away, I’d guess. You were pretty loud last night.”
Mary scoffed. “Oh, please. I’ve seen him sleep in a roaring tavern before.”
Jaskier only shrugged, not finding anything to say that wouldn’t reveal what was Geralt’s to tell her.
She shoved past him to go find the witcher. With Jaskier in tow, she stepped outside. Where would he have gone? Not far, likely.
“Geralt?” She called.
It took him a minute to get to his feet, but he soon emerged from the stables.
“Mary, I have something to tell you-“
“No, Geralt, you listen! We spent coin on that room, and you decided not to sleep in it because of a little noise next door? I doubt it’s something you’ve never heard before, and now you’re going to be complaining about your back for days. Seriously, you couldn’t just cover your head with a pillow?”
He was astounded. “It… wasn’t the noise keeping me awake.”
“Whatever, it hardly matters now.” She was determined to get back on track with her joy. “Here,” she thrust the sack of money at him, “When I was out yesterday, I saw an armorer by the market. I stopped in to see if anything was cheap, and they had the supplies to upgrade your Griffin armor. Expensive, of course, but not a problem now! Or you could wait until the next town, see what they have. Up to you.”
Both Jaskier and Geralt were puzzled, but then in a moment it clicked.
“Mary… where did you get that?” Jaskier was walking on eggshells with the tension floating around.
She was growing offended by the expression they both wore. “I’ll give you one guess.”
No guesses were needed. They knew.
Geralt spoke. “Look, there’s no judgment from me. You’re welcome to sleep with whomever you please. It’s just-“ He was struggling, he always had trouble expressing things like this, “I want to be the only man in bed with you.”
Mary blinked. Once, twice. “What?”
He couldn’t look her in the eye. “I should have said something before. I lacked courage, and that’s on me. If you don’t feel the same-“
“I do. Feel the same.” He didn't mind her interrupting this time.
“You do?”
“Mm-hmm.” She was smiling so widely she was at risk of her face cracking open.
Officially breaching a grin, he pulled her to him by the hips.
Cupping his face, she brought his lips down to hers. She was so indescribably happy to be held by him that she smiled through the kiss.
His arms roamed up her sides and back, and as his hand slid across a bite mark on her shoulder blade, she flinched.
Geralt pulled away, looking into her eyes for answers.
“It’s fine, sorry.” She dismissed, leaning in to return to the kiss, though he didn't allow it.
A glance at Jaskier’s concerned face confirmed to him that she was injured. “Mary, are you hurt?” He moved to take her coat off to get a better look, but she stepped back.
“It’s alright, nothing that won’t heal up in a few days.”
He looked to Jaskier, as Mary was clearly not going to discuss it.
“Jaskier, don’t you say a fucking word. It’s none of his business. None of yours, either.”
Geralt only had to glare at Jaskier for him to crack and jump behind the witcher. “Sorry, Mary, but he scares me more. When I walked into her room this morning I saw that she was covered with… marks, of all kinds, from her… erm, nighttime activities.”
“Marks? From- Mary, did he do something to you?”
“Nothing I didn’t agree to. The cruel ones are rare, but they always pay the best. Worth it, I’d say.”
Geralt shut his eyes, willing his feelings down. “Show me.”
She didn’t want to, for worry that he would think differently of her. “Why, so you can humiliate me? Call me a whore?”
“No. I just want to see.”
Sighing, she pulled off her coat. He was going to think of her what he was going to think of her, it was really up to him.
Geralt was transfixed with every spot on her skin. Bruises in the shapes of hands, crescent shaped indents from fingernails, scrapes, teeth imprints. He gently grazed his hands over them.
“Why would you let him do this?” He was full of sorrow. She had allowed someone to hurt her, “For what? Coin? We had plenty.”
“I suppose it was foolish. I felt like I had to contribute something, to earn us money the way you two do, but sex is my only skill.”
“Mary.” So much emotion pushed into one word. Defeat, mostly. He’d failed to make her feel taken care of.
Geralt was too overcome with emotion, so Jaskier took over. “I wish you’d have spoken to one of us. We’re doing fine, you didn’t need to do this to yourself. You’re contributing perfectly well, getting us those bargains at the markets and inns. Saving coin is just as good as making it.”
Geralt’s eyes were still staring into space, but he spoke. “I’m so sorry, that you thought you had to accept that man’s abuse for money. In future, I’ll take more contracts.“
“Geralt, no. The whole point of me wanting to buy that armor was that I wanted you as safe as possible. Which, with you being a witcher and all, I know isn’t much, but armor is crucial to your fighting style. Better armor means less injuries for you.”
“Promise me, you’ll never let this happen to you again.”
She looked into his eyes, which still couldn’t focus on her, and saw the pain. The regret, the guilt.
“Okay, I promise.” She grabbed his hands in hers, drawing his attention back to her. “The only hands on me from now on will be yours.”
He wrapped his arms around her waist, lightly so as to not disturb her bruises. She looped hers around his neck.
Geralt was still distraught. “You won’t regret it, I swear.”
She wanted to lighten the mood. “Oh, you’re that good, huh?”
Geralt let her cheer him up. “Being a witcher does have its perks.”
Soul-bonds & Heartaches - Chapter III
I apologise for the very long wait for this chapter, in all honesty I had no idea how to move forward from Chapter II but this felt right, and it felt true to the relationship between existing characters, to an extent.
Geralt is tied to these two women in two distinctly different ways, and it's only now that he has all the information, he can make the decision he needs to. But that doesn't come without its consequences, which subsequently leads to other consequences.
I apologise again for the long wait, and hope to update with another chapter soon! I truly hope you guys enjoy this chapter! <333
Andromeda had thought they had come to an understanding. She had fallen asleep with a smile on her face and hope in her heart.
She dreamed of waking up to the sun heating her face as it slowly rose, opening her eyes to ashes of a well-worn fire as a gentle breeze brushed through her hair before her gaze met Geralt's.
She thought they would've exchanged gentle smiles, would've looked for excuses throughout the day to brush past each other, and engaged in small conversations hidden from the sight of others. And then, maybe when they had gotten too distracted or brushed too close to death on one adventure or the next, they would've exchanged a kiss. A small, hesitant kiss that they poured all their emotions into, where they succumbed to their desires and the strings of destiny.
Instead, she had awoken to burning lips and a quivering heart. She knew. The moment the feeling spread over her, she knew.
Andromeda couldn't open her eyes in fear of what she would find.
Geralt and Yennefer locked in a battle of passion? The two carressing each other in gentle affection?
She feared she would find a liar and a coward in the place where she had seen her Geralt in the glowing embers of last night's fire.
But she couldn't escape his senses.
Unbeknownst to her, as she curled in on herself, eyes clenched shut as tears welled in her eyes, and she pretended to sleep as she stifled her laboured breaths, Geralt knew she was awake. And he knew she felt his betrayal just like she had every other time.
His soul roiled in its place, his heart burned in guilt. It was not what it seemed.
***
Yennefer had woken up before the rest had, before the sun had risen and its warmth had replaced what was lost as the campfire died out.
Geralt waited for her to say something as she sat up, to say 'good morning' or to say she would take watch instead, but she simply sat and stared.
He lost his patience quite quickly, feeling the way her stare burned into the side of his head as he forced his gaze away from Rory and onto her instead.
She looked amused.
"What?"
His words were gruff, full of curiosity and annoyance. He knew he had no right to be annoyed. He had pursued Yennefer just as much as she pursued him. But it was different then.
Now, knowing that his Rory felt the same about him as he did about her, knowing she had been longing for him from the day they met, that her heart yearned for him, everything changed.
Andromeda could have ran, every time he had bed another woman, she could have walked away. And even yesterday, she could have turned away without giving him a second glance.
But she was full of compassion and sincerity, and she gave away chances as easily as she gave away her heart. It had just taken him too long to realise it was him she had gifted it to.
Yennefer didn't answer him, instead making her way to her feet as she strutted his way, her movements slow and sensual. She was so sure of herself, so confident she would get what she wanted. And Geralt was scared that, somehow, she would.
She stood behind him, hands on his shoulders as she leaned down and pressed her breasts into his back, her lips brushing against his ear as she whispered, "you look tense. I could help you."
Her voice was low and sultry, and Geralt from a few days ago would have given into her words immediately, but the Geralt that sat in front of her now only grimaced at her words. His shoulders raised as he pulled himself from her embrace, standing to his full height as he turned on her - "no."
"No?" Yennefer was shocked, sure she had seen the looks the two exchanged, the way they smiled at one another when they thought the other wasn't looking, but it had never made Geralt reject her.
"No," Geralt had the knack to look at least somewhat apologetic, his eyes furrowing as he looked down at Yennfer in sympathy, "the circumstances have changed."
"Geralt, you told me that destiny tied us. That destiny wanted us together."
"I was wrong, Yen. Destiny didn't pick you, I did. But I can't keep choosing you anymore."
"Geralt..." her hand came up to rest at his cheek, her eyes pooling with tears as she shook her head in denial, "you love me."
Geralt let her keep her hand on his face, let her take what she needed as he broke the heart of another woman he cared for. He shook his head, "I don't. I love her."
It was a whispered confession, his voice shaky as the truth came out, and Geralt found a weight lift of his chest at the revelation, "I love her," he repeated.
"I'm sorry, Yennefer," she felt her heart break further at the sound of her name on his lips, "I can't love you, I can't pick you."
Yennefer's other hand reached up for his cheek, both now cradling his face as she ran her fingers over familiar lines and scars. She pulled him closer, but he resisted.
"Please, Geralt. Just one more time."
Her voice was desperate, he could smell the defeat permeating off of her, and when he gave in and brushed his lips against her own, he could taste it in her tears too.
The kiss was familiar, it was easy. It was a goodbye.
***
Geralt pulled away from Yennefer, as though her lips against his own had burned him the way it burned Andromeda.
He felt anger festering in the pits of his stomach, he hated himself for giving in so easily, for hurting Rory again.
He wanted to go to her, to plead with her to listen to him and know that it meant nothing to him. That it was a goodbye for Yennefer and not a betrayal to her. That he loves her. He needs her.
But with Yennefer's hands holding his face once more, and Jaskier rousing from his sleep, he had again lost his chance, and perhaps he had now lost her.
***
As they packed their gear, the air was stifled with tension. As Yennefer, Geralt, and Andromeda stayed away from each other, it did not take much guessing from Jaskier and Cirilla to realise what had probably happened.
Cirilla observed her aunt, worry colouring her eyes as she watched her move with no real purpose, her eyes empty as if every ounce of hope and life had been washed out.
Geralt was like a father to Cirilla, she craved his affection and even more his approval. But she knew that Geralt had to be the one responsible for her aunt's state, and she couldn't help the anger that bubbled in her chest as the minutes ticked by and Andromeda lost more of herself to the quiet around her.
Still, no one spoke as they carried on their journey, marching through the barren-land with their rations untouched and their stomachs full of lead.
Cirilla stood next to Andromeda, holding her hand tightly as she kept her aunt close to her side and safe. All the while, she would glare at Geralt every time she noticed his gaze stray towards Andromeda, forcing him to look back at the path ahead as he wiped any essence of emotion from his face.
But every once in a while, his expression would become drowned once more, and he would find himself throwing agonised glances her way.
Cirilla remained unaware of the guilty glances Yennefer threw their way.
***
When they had reached the nearest village, it didn't take long for stories about a nasty group of ghouls at the local cemetery that had been eating dead corpses and unknowing citizens, to spread.
It had gotten so bad that the people of the village they had come across refused to leave their homes after dark. So when they had reached a tavern, after a silent agreement they could all do with some hot food and rest, Geralt found himself agreeing to a large pouch of silver and a long, comfortable stay in the tavern in exchange for slaying the beasts.
He had agreed easily, of course. Needing something to channel his pent-up energy into, the anger and guilt that festered in him and the anguish that settled in his heart every time Andromeda brushed past him like he was not there, every time he tried to speak to her and failed.
Yennefer was still here. She couldn't leave knowing she was why the group had become so broken and frail. Perhaps her leaving would have made it easier for Andromeda to breathe, but it wouldn't lessen the pain Yennefer had caused.
She loves Geralt, and she wants to see him happy. He chose her every time before that day in the tavern, but she knew every time he had picked her there was a part of him that yearned for Andromeda.
She tried to hide from the truth in their moans and sighs, tried to find solace in their pleasurable escapades, tried to make Andromeda jealous, and assert the idea that Geralt was her's.
But he wasn't.
He may have picked Yennefer because of the cards destiny had given him, but Andromeda's name was scrawled across his heart. He needed Andromeda in a way Yennefer could never replace.
A heart-breaking revelation she had slowly been coming to peace with.
She would leave the group in peace, but she wanted to fix her mess first.
***
Darkness had drawn over the sky when Geralt prepared to leave, and as he sheathed his sword Cirilla couldn't find it within herself to plead with him to let her join, as she had done so many times before.
Cirilla couldn't leave Andromeda, couldn't pick Geralt over her.
Andromeda may not have been her blood, but she was the only family Cirilla had left from the life she lived before.
Geralt didn't try and push Cirilla to join. He didn't ask Jaskier to play bait, knowing he was disappointed in him, too. And he couldn't look towards Yennefer, fearful that one glance would confirm every terrified thought Andromeda had running through her head.
He had smelt the stench of agony on her. It was heavy and brittle and still so sweet in a way that was perfect for her. She was beautiful even when she was in pain.
He took one last glance towards his ragged group of friends, a longing gaze marked for the woman who had stolen his heart and burned her presence into his soul. He lowered his head in shame, gruffly clearing his throat as he spoke, "you should all get some rest. Don't wait for me."
He walked out, his form much more quainter than any of them had seen it before.
A few moments of silence had passed, and then it looked like Yennefer was going to speak.
But Andromeda beat her to it, sensing the conversation looming ahead she pushed herself up from her seat, "I'm going to my room."
She didn't wait for any reply, walking sluggishly to her room as her thoughts threatened to drown her.
Some distance away, Geralt circled the cemetery he entered, waiting for movement. Nothing came.
He needed bait, but there was no one around but himself. So he pulled his small dagger, pressing the knife into his hand and dragging a cut across his palm.
Replacing the dagger, he squeezed his hand closed, relishing in the pain as blood dripped into the soil beneath his feet.
He waited a breath, and then he heard it. Soft growling from all around him as the beasts scuttled in a frenzy.
He waited for them to attack, always on the move, and he pushed them back with his sword and sigils. He had fought enough ghouls to battle them with ease, waiting for one to separate from the group, snarling loud in rage as it got ready to attack, making it a priority to kill before repeating.
Geralt continued his dance, never giving the ghouls a long enough break to catch him off guard and never working too hard to break a sweat. One by one, he hacked down each monster until he was the only beast left standing.
The butchered corpses of seven ghouls laid at his feet, satisfaction filling his gut as he considered his work. He raised his head to the sky, taking in the darkness as he realised not much time would have passed since he left, but there also wasn't long until sunrise.
Geralt couldn't stand having to go back in and face his companions, a part of him was even scared to.
Scared they would leave him for his transgressions, hate him, and abandon him just like his mother had once done.
His heart sank to his stomach, never had he felt such emotions, strong enough to rock him back and forth between the idea of running away or facing his problems head on.
He didn't know what to do.
Until he did.
It was still night, and Andromeda hated the dark. So it would be unlikely she was asleep.
Perhaps she was stargazing, a hobby she was so fond of. Geralt recalls the way her eyes glittered as she peered at the starlight, the way she emanated joy and delight as she pointed out constellations and spoke of the legends and fables behind them, how her heart raced when her eyes found his and her eyes would track his face as though she had found her favourite constellation in him.
He needed to find her. He needed to see her and speak to her and explain.
Maybe it wouldn't help, maybe it would make her hate him more. But the weight of such a confession sat unbearable on his shoulders, he needed her to know.
To know why he kissed Yennefer, to know of his guilt and of his sorrow. But mostly, to know of his truth.
Geralt could no longer hide behind cowardice - a truth badly disguised as indifference and intimidation.
Geralt found his steps hurrying back to the tavern, his footfalls heavy as he forced himself not to take off in a sprint. He pushed and pushed until he found himself at the tavern doors, never taking a breath to stop as he pushed through, tearing past a silent trio huddled by a fire and finding his way to the room he knew Andromeda would be in.
Faintly he hears Jaskier exclaim from his place by the fire, "fucking, finally!" And he feels a ghost of a smile stretch across his face.
A smile that sinks when he finds himself face-to-face with the door that separated him and the woman he had given his heart to, years before he had even realised.
Geralt wasn't sure if he should knock or barge in like he had done at the other tavern not so long ago. He wasn't sure if he should call out to her or simply get onto his knees and beg from outside.
His hand rested on the doorknob, steady and gentle as he twisted the door and creaked it open, "Rory?"
His voice was quiet, a hopeful whisper that was left unanswered.
As the door opened wider, Geralt could feel his heart sink at the realisation of what he had missed on his wild dash here. Something he should have realised miles before he had even reached the tavern once more.
He couldn't smell her sweet, sickly scent, the absence of orange blossoms and jasmine weighing heavy in his heart.
He couldn't hear her quiet breathing as she drowned herself in her imagination or her ragged breaths as she tried to hold back tears.
He couldn't hear the rustle of fabric as she fidgeted and picked at the loose strings in her clothes, or the sound of her comb brushing through her hair, or her huffs of boredom, or groans of irritations. Nothing.
Geralt could no longer hear the sound of her heartbeat.
He pushed open the door, his mind almost out of control as his actions became desperate. The room was bare, even of Andromeda's belongings and opposite him sat a lonely window, its sheer curtain billowing in the winds.
Rory had left. And it was all his fault.
Geralt's eyes burned, but he no longer had the strength to hold back his tears and let them fall freely down his face.
He walked the rest of the way in the room, sitting down heavily on the bed and basking in the faint smell of orange blossoms that surrounded him, and hidden between them was a scent he recognised as determination.
Geralt looked down at his hands, bloodied and destroyed, and found himself imagining a life where he hadn't lost Andromeda to his stupid mistakes.
He would fix this. He had to.
Chicory flowers I will sneak a kiss,
Like an old love lost in a distance.
And the grass will bend down, whispering about the evil fate,
And millions of eyes will rise from the ground.
“Koi no yokan” translated from Japanese means “premonition of love”; this expression describes the feeling when you meet someone you don't fall in love with at first sight, but with whom you intend to fall in love. You may not fall in love with him right away, but it will be inevitable💔
