It’s pouring rain
And we’re by a fireplace
There was a time
When we’d be out there
Dancing, laughing, loving
“It’s quite a downpour out there,
Isn’t it?”
A hum
A glance
A disregard
The rain continues its torrent
And life goes on

Heart of hearts,
hear my plea:
Don’t take my lover
Away from me.
We are young and only just wed,
And so i beg you; please don’t take her
From our marriage bed.
O goddess of love,
don’t leave me broken.
Grant my wish
As I offer this token:
A harp made of gold and loaves of sweet bread
As long as she isn’t stolen
From our marriage bed.
Please, Venus,
the most beautiful of all,
Leave her with me
And not Hades’ halls.
I love her so and “I do” I’ve just said
Do not rip that from me
Nor her from our marriage bed
So I see, evil being of stealing love anew,
you’ve murdered my bride,
So I’ll come for you.
Though I never wished this, you will end up dead.
You’ve stolen my wife
From our marriage bed

Tell me please where do the stars go ?
The stars go wherever they please, under the watchful eye of Astraeus. He looks after them, speaking to them and keeping them company.
The stars go wherever they please, except for the daylight. It has been forbidden by the one who knows all of astrology and all of the stars—for he would not have them see his love when he could not.
The stars go wherever they please, but they linger on the edges of the sky at dawn and at dusk. They watch carefully as the god of stars and planets holds his wife.
The stars go wherever they please, but they flock close to their Starry One when the goddess of dawn pulls away, leaving her husband to the cold and comforting light of the stars.

There’s a fog
In my head
That feels like a horror movie forest:
All gray skies
And dead leaves,
Gnarled limbs reaching up
Up
Up
Up.
Confusion clouds my senses
And i think i should be scared.
After all,
This is the point where someone dies
But as i navigate the dark twists and turns,
The howls echoing all around,
I cannot bring myself to care

I am worried for you
My dear
As your breaths come slow
And weak
I am terrified that you will leave me
And somehow excited for the prospect of freedom

It is raining again and i remember a time when you let me hold you
When you trusted me enough to pull you close
But you are sick
And i am sad
And the rain disguises our tears

I stood in the middle of a field,
Rain pouring,
With my hands outstretched.
In one hand i held a champagne glass
And in the other, my heart.
And though i had long since emptied both,
I took a sip.
And found that rain water had replaced the tears.
~it is only me this time, for i am not hers at the moment

We shared blackberries in the spring,
Under the shade of old trees.
We lied in the creek in the summer,
Next to rocks worn smooth by the water.
We laughed in the fall,
Bathed in the smoke of a bonfire.
We slept in the winter,
Huddled close in the security of each other’s warmth.
And we cried in the season of heart break,
Wounded by the end of a love we thought hardy enough to last through the seasons.

Your love was like the sun:
I basked in your warmth for hours
And i did not realize that the comfort
You provided in those moments
Would come back to sting me
As soon as i left your light

Apollo
My sweet Apollo
I bathe in your light
And savor your warmth
Apollo
My lovely Apollo
I feel free when under your rays
And am one with the birds
Apollo
My dangerous Apollo
You grace my wings with light
And i would gladly perish if just to feel your warmth once more

It was supposed to be beautiful
This love thing
But all i saw was
Wreckage, a mess
That one person would clean
Right before the other would fuck it all up again

He was the sun.
If I looked too closely,
I’d be blinded.
If I touched him,
I’d be burned.
So I’ll stay here on my earth
While he burns,
Millions of miles away.

Flowers grew in the cracks you made in me. The roots held me together for a while.
And i hoped you wouldn’t come with scissors to cut the delicate stems and pull me apart all over again.
