It was at this moment that she decided to assassinate Ambrosius.
She could have continued to protest Ballister's words, she could have tried to make an excuse or even sent Ambrosius back to his post. But no. She gives up extremely quickly and almost jumps straight to murder.
Is it only me who’s shocked that it’s happening so quickly?
She who does all this in the name of Gloreth has absolutely no problem killing her (as far as we know) only descendant. Which means if he dies, Gloreth's lineage is over.
Ambrosius is a Goldenloin, a noble, a knight, the very example of a knight! He's exactly what she's trying to "protect." And she kills him with her own hands. (If that's not a metaphor, I don't know what is)
But concretely, there are several reasons for this sudden choice:
She has no good excuse at her disposal, either because she had overestimated her influence on Ambrosius, or underestimated his trust in Ballister;
She realized that Ambrosius is too attached to Ballister, which means that not only will he try not to hurt him and will not accept him being killed or treated unfairly, but also that the first chance he gets, he'll take Ballister's side and not hers;
As Ballister's (only) friend, he is one of the only obstacles in making him out to be a heartless assassin;
If someone as important and influential as him were to get in her way, she will have great difficulty doing what she wants and may even risk losing her position and power;
She knows she will never be able to convince him of the "merits" of her quest;
She has a great alibi: Ballister.
This last point is very important. She can get rid of a nuisance as she wishes with complete impunity. No one is there and Ballister has already managed to sneak into the Institute without anyone noticing before then (it's not like anyone is going to accuse her instead of the 'Queen's Killer'). So she also has a golden opportunity to silence any doubt about Ballister's guilt. I mean, others could be like Ambrosius and question her again, and Ballister managed to obtain evidence that she had killed the Queen while he didn't know before that it was her, so someone else provided them to him, so the idea of him being innocent can spread. By accusing him of killing the most popular knight in the Kingdom, she ensures that no one questions his position as a monster and criminal.
It's the Institute, where knights are trained to defend the Kingdom, there's no chance that the Director didn't have access to another weapon than Ballister's. But she chose to use his sword.
But Ballister's sword was destroyed, no one will wonder about the appearance of a second?
No one asks questions about a man who decides to assassinate for no reason the person who allowed him to rise from his social condition, in public, surrounded by knights, right next to an armed man, and visibly without any plan to escape?
The more I think about it, the less sense this supposed assassination makes. It only worked because of media manipulation and because Ballister was the culprit. If the roles had been reversed with Ambrosius - in the event that they had exchanged swords (and the Director didn't notice the exchange and/or couldn't disable the attack) - it certainly wouldn't have gone that far because:
Ambrosius is loved by all and known for being trustworthy/kind/insert knightly quality. Ballister is a commoner, who, even after several years of working hard and being miles better than others, is not seen as trustworthy. People will be much more likely to make excuses for Ambrosius than for Ballister.
The Director has no interest in using the media to blame him. On the contrary, she will try to defend him and claim that he was framed.
Ballister had no excuse for having a deadly laser sword, he has no one to blame for him. Ambrosius yes. There's Ballister. Not only because it is the untrustworthy newcomer dirty commoner that his fellow knights despise, but above all it is HIS sword that was trapped. The Director and the population will accuse him of framing Ambrosius.
People will WANT him to be the culprit instead of their lovely and respected knight. They don't want the literal descendant of their hero to be an awful person who did something this horrible. They don't want the representation of the Institute, of their society to be shaken. (I'm a pro jedi fan. I know that when people want to defend their blorbos, they can go veeeeeery far, including putting responsabilities on other people, even complete innocents or victims)
In fact, this situation will be even more credible than the original one. Why he didn't plan his escape? Bc he didn't need to. Why he did that? Obviously to take revenge on better people in better situation than him, and on society itself, by targetting the Queen, leader of the Kingdom, and a Goldenloin, who's also the Kingdom's most prestigious knight and the descendant of the founder of the Institute.

Six months.
In and out.
It was supposed to be that simple or at least that’s what Dick Grayson thought. All he had to do was create a fake persona and gain one of the most powerful villains in Gotham trust. He didn’t doubt his capability of pulling her in with his charm. They didn’t call him a womanizer for nothing. He was confident that the six months with (V/N) was going to be a piece of cake. But as the months passed by he didn’t know when the fake feelings towards her started to become real. It hurt him, it hurt him badly. He knew how things were going to end, yet when the sixth month came around he took her in.  Now there she was, behind the cells of Arkham Asylum wishing Nightwing was dead.
Y/n L/n was a smart and hardworking girl. She thought of every possibility that could happen before she made a plan. That’s what got her on top of Gothams City Crime list. Every vigilante had their eyes on her and she lived for attention. But when Dick Grayson came around looking for a henchman position she agreed. Too quickly for her liking. Dealing with destroying Gotham all by herself was hard. Maybe having Dick on her side would make things easier.
So she began giving him stupid tasks like making him clean her room or taking out the trash. But as the first months  started to pass by, Dick had more responsibility in her life. He started giving his opinion on little plans or even going on the field to beat batman with her. Dick was quick and Y/n liked that. When she noticed how Dick had taken Batman down, she knew he was someone she could trust.
But now being locked up for seven months made her think about what happened. How she let her guard down and how Dick took advantage of her trust. Y/n used to think she was smart  but Dick made her look so naive. She was looking at everything through rose colored glasses. Sadly if you see everything through rose colored glasses you can't see the red flags.
She let her guard down, she had to admit that at the end of the six months she was head over heels over the man. But she knew everything was an act. Her feelings towards Dick started when he defended her against the “mighty” batman. But what made her stomach turn was when she found out he was actually Nightwing, Batman's ex prodigy. The guy she had fallen for was a traitor. Six months. The way Dick had sold her  for parts. Six months of torture where Dick sold her for a forbidden paradise.
Everyone knew.
Every Vigilante
Every Superhero
Every Psychopathic villain
As Dick Grayson's reputation ascended to the world, Y/n reputation was already in a grave. Everyone had warned her. All her friends had told  her if she always worked alone without a problem why adding someone now to the mix? When you are successful. Y/n brushed it off but deep down she knew It was weird that Dick didn’t have a criminal record on him. Out of nowhere he wanted to be a criminal? A villain? That wasn’t something that would come out of nowhere. She should’ve known he was too perfect to be true. But when she tried calling Dick out he just shrugged it out.
“Come on, V/n! We’ve been partners for a while now. I haven’t done anything to rat you out. I just want to help. Not every villain has to have an insane origin story. Your so-called friends are just waiting for your downfall. They are just crazy.” Dick replied as he cleaned a brush from Y/n’s arm. She nodded as She looked at his eyes, smiling softly.
“Yeah, they are just crazy”
Dick wasn’t wrong. They were praying for her downfall. But what she didn’t know was that her downfall was caused by the one that was telling her not to worry.
Everyone laughed at her. The supposed strongest uprising villain fell for the basics. The respect she had fought so hard to get was slipping through her hands. She was about to enter The legion of doom status but now she wasn’t even in rookie status. She wouldn’t be taken seriously anymore. V/n became a joke and all thanks to Dick Grayson. Because  she knew she made some really big mistakes. But Dick made the worst one look fine.
Y/n should've known it was strange, he would only come out at night and when Y/n searched for him to do normal things he was nowhere to be seen. She couldn’t fathom how he was so convincing. How could he lie without flinching? It was like deep down he did have it in him. A mesmerizing, paralyzing, fucked up little thrill. A true heart of a villain.
She didn’t have any hope. In Arkham, all she did was exist doing her normal routine. Getting deeply insulted by everyone that came her way. So when her usual routine was broken by someone escorting her to a private room to talk. She had hoped that someone decided to break her out. But as she entered the small smirk on her lips fell as she glared at the boy in front of her.
Disdain.
“It’s nice seeing you again” Nightwing said as he sent a small smile her way as he tapped his hands against the metal table.
Y/n sat on the chair as she felt Dick’s gaze on her. She looked up at him and leaned in, stopping when her face was a few inches away.
“You are pretty brave of showing up here after locking me up, asshole” Y/n replied through gritted teeth as Dick sent her a cocky little grin.
“Well, I missed you too. It's really nice to see you're okay” He replied as he got a little closer towards her.
“Okay? You’ve made my life a living hell these past months and then you have the decency to show up and laugh in my face.” Y/n replied as she slammed her cuffed hands against the table making an echo throughout the empty room.
“It’s not my fault you decided to take this route. This is what happens when you break the law. You get your liberty taken away from you” Dick replied nonchalantly as he moved away resting back on the chair and resting his hands behind his head.
“You know, if your plan was to make a mockery of me. I already have to deal with that on a daily basis so please do me a favor and fuck off”
“Come on! I came all the way here to see how my favorite girl is doing. I had an offer for you” Dick replied as she raised an eyebrow off.
‘What are you even talking about?” She replied, clearly annoyed, waiting for this visit to be over. She was preferring a million times to see the Riddler making a stupid joke about her.
“I need your help. You clearly miss your freedom. So in exchange for that I’ll give you  a chance. You help me out on a mission and you’ll be free” He replied like it was the simplest thing in the world.
“Since when do those a stupid little birds have so much power?” She replied, laughing sarcastically at him. Dick rolled his eyes as he placed papers in front of her.
“I don’t. But Batman does and we need your intel on everything. So if you help out you’ll get your cut. I would take it if I were you.  He doesn’t usually work with criminals, "he replied, tapping the paper in front of her.
“Well he works with you on a daily basis so I can’t tell the difference.” Y/n replied dryly as she pushed the paper away.
“Is this or rooting away in Gotham” Dick replied, taking the papers slowly.
“I prefer rooting in hell than working for the devil himself”
“Y/n. Hear me out, I care for you and I don’t want someone I love to root in this place. So please take it. I’m not going to ask again”
Love? Dick said love, but wouldn't that be hard? He can't love anyone, Because that would mean he had a heart. As much as Y/n wanted to say no deep down she knew she couldn’t get revenge on Nightwing if she was locked in Gotham so this was her only chance at the moment. The perfect way to get Dick back. Playing his own little game, getting his trust and then stabbing him on the back.
“Fine. But it’s because I can’t deal with the Joker anymore”
“Well, it’s nice that you finally picked the right side. This time we will be good partners.”
Oh Nightwing, you’re fucked.

finally got around to watching Fatal Journey and honestly the most devastating part of it is not how it gives us adorable baby Nie brothers ( though that does hurt), nor how it makes Huaisang accidentally implicated in the music poisoning (though that hurts, too) - it’s how it deepens Huaisang’s character from merely a harmless pleasure-seeker to a genuinely good person.
the version of Huaisang we see in the show proper isn’t particularly interested in being moral! He’s not a BAD person, he doesn’t want to hurt anybody, but neither does he particularly care to be GOOD. he leaves that, like all the tough parts of life, to his da-ge to take care of. Surely Mingjue is righteous enough for both of them! Huaisang’s no good in a fight- surely he’d just get in the way! Huaisang’s tragedy, originally, is his descent from a lovable goofball, a harmless fop, a perpetual baby brother, into a hardened, ruthless, desperately lonely man hellbent on revenge no matter how many people he has to destroy on the way. And that’s a pretty good tragedy!
but with the material introduced in Fatal Journey, Huaisang appears to be a genuinely good person- a much better person than anyone ever gave him credit for. He sees something he believes is morally reprehensible being done by the people he loves and respects- especially his brother, who is regarded as a paragon of righteousness in their society- and he stands up and says ‘no.’ I don’t think ANYONE else does that, at least where we can see it. WWX’s whole DEAL is doing the right thing in the face of people who have waaay more power than him (Wens, Jins….), but he’s never put in this specific situation because the people he loves and respects aren’t the ones doing morally reprehensible things! The closest parallel we see is maybe LWJ fighting the Lan elders in defense of WWX, but that is much less a principled stance based on moral virtue and much more an act of tremendous personal love and sacrifice. He’s not doing it because it’s there right thing to do, he’s doing it because he loves WWX and doesn’t CARE whether that’s right or wrong anymore.
NHS is put in a fairly unique position where he is directly exposed to some of the basest hypocrisy of the cultivation world, and instead of saying ‘well, da-ge’s doing it so it must be okay, I guess it's not really that bad,” he says ‘No, this is unacceptable.’ He says ‘You’re better than this. WE are better than this. We HAVE to be better than this.’ He is not, ultimately, able to change anything about it, because he doesn’t have that kind of power, but he SAYS it, he makes it clear, directly to NMJ’s face, that he is disappointed in him, and ashamed of what he is doing, and he thinks it’s wrong.
and the fall from THAT, from someone who argues that exploiting the corpses of the dead is wrong EVEN if those people were criminals, into someone who would deliberately desecrate the body of a woman he KNOWS is innocent because it’s the best way he can think of to hurt the person he wants to hurt, a person for whom the ends justify any and all means, and who ignores or disregards the collateral damage of any other lives destroyed - that’s SO MUCH WORSE. That hurts SO much more.

‘What’s the worst that can happen?” That is what Georgia Harrison asked herself one Sunday morning in August 2020 when Stephen Bear, who lived opposite, invited her over for a cup of tea. They knew each other through the reality television and influencer circuits. She had been on The Only Way Is Essex (Towie) and Love Island; he had done Shipwrecked, Ex on the Beach, then won Celebrity Big Brother. They had hooked up before and he hadn’t treated her well.
“We’d been in lockdown and I was definitely quite lonely, feeling quite rubbish about myself,” says Harrison, 28. “I knew that going to Bear’s was a bad idea – there were two voices in my head. In the end, I thought: what’s the worst that could happen? Well, now we know.”
What happened was this: the morning cup of tea stretched into a long lunch washed down by tequila, followed by drunken sex in Bear’s back garden. The sex was different from how it had been in the past – more performative, with Bear carefully positioning Harrison in various locations. “It was more dramatic and lasted longer,” says Harrison. “I just thought he was having a good day.” Afterwards, to Harrison’s horror, Bear mentioned casually that it might have been caught on his CCTV system. When he showed her the footage and she began to cry (“I’ll die if anyone sees it,” she said), he promised to delete the video. Instead, three months later, Bear posted the footage on his verified Only Fans account. Within days, it was all over the internet, including the website Pornhub. “Georgia Harrison sex tape” had become a top search on Google.
Harrison found out when a fan in the US sent her a screenshot asking: “Have you seen this?” Her reaction was to gag. But she picked herself up and went to the police. Bear was arrested, charged and convicted. In March 2023, he was sentenced to 21 months in prison for voyeurism and sharing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress. Now, she has written a memoir about it, Taking Back My Power.
It is hard to overstate the impact of this case. Most victims of intimate image abuse never report the crime. They are teenagers too terrified of their parents’ reactions, professionals who fear for their careers, parents who don’t want their children or partner to know, or anyone else who can’t face walking into a police station armed with a link to Pornhub. Of those who do come forward, only about 4% will ever see a charge; a prison sentence is rarer still.
Bear’s case – on the news, in headlines, all over social media – sent a message of hope to victims of this sort of abuse and a warning shot to potential perpetrators. There was a 56% rise in calls to the government’s “revenge porn” helpline in the month he was sentenced. Harrison didn’t stop there, though. She lobbied parliament to demand better laws around “revenge porn” and helped to secure amendments to the online safety bill that make the crime easier to prosecute. She is still campaigning for platforms that carry the footage of her and Bear to be held criminally accountable.
It is certainly not the life or career she had in mind when she left school at 16, the only child of a single mother, already intent on reality TV stardom. “I grew up in Essex and a lot of my friends were on Towie, so that’s what I wanted to reach for,” she says. It was the idea of literally getting paid for doing photoshoots, partying and having some fun in all these mad countries and bars.” At 19, she did get on Towie; a few years later, she was on Love Island. She built a career as an influencer and was able to buy a flat in Essex at 21. Was it all she had hoped for? “Actually, it was even better,” she says.
Although she and Bear were neighbours, Harrison didn’t get to know him until October 2018, when they were cast in The Challenge, an MTV reality show. By then, the former roofer had built a TV reputation as a bit of a player, a “lovable rogue”. They got together during filming, but when the show finished, Bear went back to womanising. Shortly afterwards, they starred in the sequel and got together again. This time, though, Harrison says, he locked her out of their hotel room to sleep with someone else.
The next time Harrison saw Bear was in August 2020, when he invited her over for that cup of tea and secretly filmed them having sex. Afterwards, she felt certain he had planned it. “We’d been in every angle that his CCTV covered,” she says. “He’d made sure we were never outside the lines.” Even so, she didn’t see what lay ahead. “I was really upset and he seemed to understand. I never for a second thought he’d be stupid enough to send it to people. I hoped he had some form of respect for me, but I also thought he wouldn’t want to ruin his entire career or end up in prison. I just didn’t think he was capable of what he was capable of.”
In the days after, Harrison messaged Bear asking him to promise he wouldn’t do anything with the video. He assured her that he had deleted it. It was December when she received the screenshot from a fan in the US. “That’s when I knew it was global,” she says. “One of my first thoughts was: it’s time to tell my family. My mum knew already, but I needed to have the conversations with my dad, my uncle – the male figures, I guess – so they knew it was coming.” In fact, her uncle knew already; he had been sent the video by someone who didn’t realise Harrison was his niece. “They were all horrified, but supportive,” she says. “I was an adult having sex – they told me I’d done nothing to be ashamed of.”
She knew that, but shame still hit in waves. “It went so horrifically viral; my postman’s probably seen it,” she says. “It’s that feeling that I’d let myself down, let my family down, that I should have seen it coming and how could I have been so stupid?” Her influencer work went into freefall. Any post on any product would be flooded with comments about the video (“Congrats hon, you’re a porn star now!”). “There were so many other influencers – same amount of followers, been on Love Island, same calibre – who didn’t have a sex scandal. Why put me next to their brand?” She rented out her flat – for income and because she was terrified of seeing Bear – and moved in with her mum.
“I don’t think I’ve admitted to myself how bad my anxiety was until now,” she says. “I wouldn’t be able to go to the gym on my own, or I’d get in and feel everyone was looking at me and have to leave. I barely left the house and when I did it was really hard not to panic. It got to the point where I only wanted to be around my closest friends.”

Harrison reported Bear, who was arrested in January 2021 and charged four months later. There was an 18-month wait for the trial. Harrison’s life was on hold. She knew she had a strong case – she had been filmed without her knowledge and had sent multiple messages to Bear begging him not to share it – but she dreaded a “not guilty” verdict. The Bear she knew, the Bear who had won Celebrity Big Brother, was a charmer. He could win hearts, talk you round.
“If he was found not guilty, I think I would have had to shave my head and move to Bolivia or something,” she says. “The career I love would have been over – that’s definite. But aside from that, my faith in the universe would have been so shattered. It would have drained all the hope and faith and love and life out of me. To see someone act in such an awful, evil, manipulative way and then walk away … I felt it might just ruin me – and it seemed possible. Bear could play things so brilliantly. I don’t know why he decided not to.”
Bear’s behaviour before and during the trial probably sealed his sentence. He uploaded X-rated videos of him and his girlfriend to the internet, captioning one: “At least she knows I’m filming her.” In another video posted just before the trial, the couple cavorted in orange prison jumpsuits. He ran a Twitter poll on what colour of suit he should wear to court – and turned up in a rented Rolls-Royce, dressed in pink and a huge fur coat, carrying a cane topped with a gold snake’s head. In court, he interrupted the judge and waved away the barrister. He pleaded not guilty, but his defence was nonsensical. At times, he claimed that Harrison wasn’t the woman in the video, or that she didn’t mind it being filmed, or that there was no proof that he had uploaded the images – it might have been his assistant, it could have been a hacker.
Had he pleaded guilty and expressed remorse, he would almost certainly have been handed a community sentence. Harrison still can’t understand it. “The Bear I first met was funny and cheeky, but also really charming – he could be kind,” she says. “That person in court seemed possessed. I feel like every show he went on, he was praised for being ‘the villain’ – and the worse he was, the more attention he got. At some point, the lines blurred. That role took over.” A reality TV monster? “That’s how it seemed.”
Giving evidence was excruciating for Harrison. She sat in the witness box as the jury (nine men, three women) looked through pages and pages of video stills, having to confirm that each one featured her. “I could tell the jury was absolutely cringing,” she says. “I was in a private garden in a private moment that I thought was between me and one other person. To know people have seen it is hard. To see people seeing it while they can see you is harder.
“As someone in the public eye, used to public speaking, it was still hard to get my words out. You don’t know where to look, who to talk to. You feel you’ve done something wrong when you haven’t. I dread to think what it’s like for a vulnerable young woman who isn’t used to addressing a room. I think it would be near enough impossible.” She hopes her case might make it a little easier. “Women come up to me all the time, crying, saying they’ve been through this horrible situation and never spoken to anyone about it before. They message me on a daily basis. Intimate-image abuse happens so much more than people think.”
After the trial, Harrison continued campaigning, initially to make cases easier to prosecute. At present, the sharing of intimate images without consent is not illegal – unless done “with intent to cause distress”, however hard that is to prove. In June, the government announced amendments to the online safety bill that will remove this requirement if the law is passed. This will mean that sharing intimate images without consent, whatever the motive, would become a criminal act.
But Harrison wants more.
“If you go to court for this and get a criminal conviction, that content should become illegal and any platforms that still show it and fail to take it down should become criminally accountable,” she says. “It’s crazy. If someone gets caught with drugs, those drugs are seized and disposed of. Why should this footage stay up there? A change like that isn’t hard to make and it would make a huge difference. Far more victims would come forward, because they’d know it will be possible to make all that footage disappear at the end.”
The video of Harrison and Bear is still out there. “I worry that one day I’ll have kids and it will be accessible to them,” she says. “I just hope that by that time, society may have got on top of this and it will be too risky and expensive for platforms to carry it.” She expects that finding a partner she trusts will take time. “As I get to the point where I am trying to have relationships, I’ve realised that I do have trust issues, but that’s not a bad thing. I’ve been burned so badly. I won’t accept anything that might be a red flag or makes me feel vulnerable. If someone really cares about me, they’ll just have to help me get past that.”
Meanwhile, she is busy again. There is a TV show coming up that she can’t talk about yet. The brands are back. Harrison has written Taking Back My Power. She would like to present daytime TV: “You literally get paid to have a natter!” She is also happy to be known for the court case. “I’ll never, ever lose the stigma of being all over those porn platforms,” she says. “But if I’m known as the person who stood up and fought back – I’d be proud of that.”

I had an exchange recently that revealed to me how fast Netanyahu's speedrun of the autocrat's playbook is going. Let's dive in for a LONG RANT (TM).
THE AUTOCRAT'S PLAYBOOK
What I'm calling the "autocrat's playbook" is a simple procedure that autocrats or would-be autocrats take when they feel that their domestic power is under some kind of threat. Specifically, it involves creating external conflict in order to rally domestic support. The steps are fairly simple: (1) start a conflict, (2) use the conflict to muzzle your opposition, (3) use a vague but patriotic excuse for war combined with aggressive tactics to push your military into committing atrocities, (4) use the international backlash to atrocities in order to buttress your own support.
Simply put, Netanyahu is doing this because his position is under threat by his unpopular attempt to destroy Israel's judiciary, his indictment on some pretty severe criminal charges, and his inability to do anything about Hamas' October 7th attack on Israel. By using the autocrat's playbook, he's hoping to hold onto his political position and put off both the collapse of his coalition and the criminal cases against him personally. In the last 6 months, he's already gotten well into Step 4 which may be a record for a leader who wasn't technically already a well-established autocrat. To see how he's doing this, let's start with Step 1.
CONFLICT
The first thing you need in order to distract from your domestic troubles is a foreign conflict. In Netanyahu's case, he already had a conflict after Hamas' attack, but it was a bad conflict because it made him look weak. The best case scenario is that he was a bumbling fool who failed to do anything to prevent Hamas from launching a major attack, the worst case scenario is that he deliberately weakened Israel's defenses against Hamas in order to aid his racist coalition partners in illegally seizing territory in the West Bank. No, that conflict wouldn't do, he needed a different one.
Bombing and invading Gaza is a much better conflict. He gets to appear the aggressor, strong and in command, which is exactly what you want to look like as an autocrat. This is his Step 1, attack Gaza. Now for Step 2.
THE WAR CABINET
Now, Netanyahu isn't an established autocrat yet, he's more of a wanna-be. Israeli news media still criticizes him, civil society still organizes against him, the judiciary still rules against him, and his opponents still have the possibility of ousting him in the Knesset, so he doesn't get to just shove all his opposition in jail on trumped up charges the way Vladimir Putin does. Instead, he's found a better way of muzzling his opposition, give them a title.
That's what the Israeli "war cabinet" is, it's how he muzzles his opposition. Now, I should be clear, a war cabinet isn't necessarily just a muzzle, sometimes it's a legitimate way to ensure support and input from across the nation for a war. But that's not what Netanyahu is using it for, and the way to tell is actually fairly simple. You see, in a true war cabinet, the leader gives up some control to his opposition in order to ensure that they're truly represented, but Netanyahu didn't do that.
You see, there are six members of the war cabinet, three full members and three observers. Of those six, four of them are either members of the Likud Party (Netanyahu's party), members of the Shas Party (one of his coalition members), or a close confidant of Netanyahu's (Ron Dermer). More importantly, only those members that are directly tied to Netanyahu have an actual portfolio (Defense for Likud member Yoav Gallant and Strategic Affairs for Dermer).
In other words, the opposition is in the cabinet, but has no ability to push policy and, even after policy is agreed upon, has no say in how it's carried out. However, as long as they're in the cabinet, they can't speak out publicly against the decisions made. Netanyahu has used the war cabinet to muzzle his opposition without giving them any actual power. Now, with competing voices largely silenced, we move on to Step 3.
HOW TO MAKE ATROCITIES HAPPEN
Atrocities used to be fairly common in warfare, even expected, but modern militaries actually have fairly good discipline, structure, and clear rules of operation that prevent them from doing this on any kind of large scale. In order to get a modern military to commit atrocities, you have to press it in a very specific way.
First, you have to give it an objective, preferably a vaguely defined but intensely patriotic one; bonus points if it's not practically possible. In Netanyahu's case, he ordered the military to destroy Hamas. This may be an achievable objective if Israel had spent years gathering detailed intelligence on the group and had a clear plan for how to separate Hamas fighters and leadership from the civilian population, but the ease with which Hamas carried out its 10/7 attack shows that even the first condition is not even close to being met. Destroying Hamas is an easy goal to defend in public debate, of course everyone wants to destroy Hamas, but it's not one that brings any specifics and it's certainly not something that the Israeli military can do without substantial support from both spies and diplomats even if the required preparations had actually been made.
The second step, though, is equally important; you press aggressively for results. A military given a vague mission that isn't really possible will go through the motions and not do all that much. In order to make atrocities happen, you have to push them to go hard. Bomb that building that may or may not relate to the objective, better to act than to delay! Shoot that person in the distance that may or may not be a Hamas fighter, better safe than sorry! The hospital might be a command post you say? Best to go in with full force!
By giving a vague and impossible mission and then insisting on rapid action, you can force any military to commit atrocities. Then you just wait to start Step 4.
RALLY AROUND THE FLAG
As soon as a country's military commits an atrocity, the international community will react with at least some sort of condemnation. This, at least, is as predictable as clockwork even if the consequences will vary widely. If you're an autocrat with a popularity problem, this is your moment; you're going to defend the troops with every ounce of breath in your body and, with your opposition muzzled, there will be no one to point out that the atrocity wasn't even their fault in the first place, it was yours.
And so, with one fell swoop, you identify the country as being under attack and yourself as its fervent defender, fulfilling the tactic described by Hermann Goering:
"…the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."
COMPLICATIONS
Of course, it's not necessarily so simple. There are always things that can trip you up and it takes a fairly deft hand to navigate those issues. For example, if you're not careful to distance yourself, it can become obvious that you're the one responsible for the atrocity, not the military. This is where other tactics can come into play.
The most obvious one is just to deny facts that are inconvenient. This is actually what led me to write this up, an exchange I had recently in which someone denied that Israel had, in fact, struck the Iranian embassy in Damascus with an air strike in order to frame Iran's response as unprovoked aggression. This kind of thing doesn't tend to happen (at least, not outside very fringe circles) unless all four of these steps have had a pretty reasonable amount of success which is why I've expressed surprise at how quickly Netanyahu has accomplished all of this.
Facts in general, though, are the most common type of complication. Finding ways to hide, deny, or otherwise elide the fact that you're the one responsible for the atrocity, that it's not just the soldiers making hard calls on an otherwise positive battlefield, are key to making this procedure work.
It's useful for those of us who are not interested in Netanyahu's party line to note that the Israeli military is already showing signs of breaking in the ways that the US military did in Vietnam when discipline and basic chain of command broke down. Simply looking at the sheer number of Israeli soldiers posting social media videos of themselves casually looting or blowing up the homes of Palestinian civilians or shooting people on the street is enough to demonstrate fairly clearly that even basic communications discipline is in rough shape.
So far, though, Netanyahu has been able to control the narrative in Israel, even if the international narrative is turning against him. It remains to be sees if he can continue to do this.
CONCLUSION
Netanyahu has followed a pretty standard 4-step autocratic procedure in order to position himself as the protector of the country and distract from the many, many things that were making him unpopular and threating to remove him from his position of power. In fact, if you look at Israel's strike on Iran's embassy in Damascus, it appears that he's actually starting the whole process over again as the Gaza offensive stalls and he needs further distraction from his other issues.
I should also note that none of this is actually making Israelis any safer, quite the opposite really. The only remaining question is how much of Israel's security and how many Israeli lives Netanyahu is willing to sacrifice for his own good.

Owl House different plot
In season one i had a complete different idea of how things would go but never posted it because i kind of new the chance of it actually happening where slim. Now i actually want to share it to see which of the completely different outcomes should have been better. Keep in mind this is without the knowledge of season 2,3 made so points of season 1 are different explained in later seasons than there are here. But i added characters of these seasons. The focus now is only on Luz, Hunter and Belos story because i don’t want it to get to long, but the story’s of everyone else gets changed as well.
First how the word issues looked like in season so that we know what Luz mission would be:
The world Luz enters is the demon realm or hell. For which it is surprisingly nice. No torture, there exits laws, community, protection and no public allowed eating of others. The person who wanted to hurt luz had to do it by contacting edar ( a known criminal ) first and than send here outside of city’s. Meaning the government was locking out for things like that not happening. The school are build on the concept of learning the different magic systems and than choosing one where you get stronger in. The only exception the emperors coven where you need really good notes for and end up which privileges and responsibility’s. The government is build on the coven heads ruling their own people and the emperors coven has its own head and even the control if everything is going as it should in kikimora. Belos is kind of a decision maker if the heads come to no agreement or oversear if the use their privileges correctly. The system is not bad. The people can actually get high positions to talent, they control each other and the power is shared. The only people who have the chance of hurting others more are technically the police, which has more people in it who control what is going on and what the are allowed to do. Magic is like guns. Everyone could technically have one but only the once who made a special training get the allowance of using it. Meaning in hell is not the one right who has the most power but a following of laws with the police stepping in and stopping fights. It makes sense of sealing powers of which are not needed to decrease the change of fight breaking out the police wouldn’t be able to stop. The power you keep is the one you need for your job but it doesn’t define you. You could be in a coven and be a baker or merchant. Edar could had been in the emperors coven but stayed a merchant, who is now under more strict supervailance but has the privilege of using her powers. This all makes sense on paper. The demon realm is hard to govern and it is easily to imagen what evil people like the wizard would do if they were allowed full power or no rules where given.
The bad thing is that:
1. No exception are made
A System should have exceptions for people. The show showed us the group of teenagers who used two covens which is a good idea. Bump didn’t change the intire school concept but made adjustments for those people. This should be a more common option.
2. Misusing of power
There are no true overseers. Not even Belos does his job right. Meaning people can misuse their given power. Like the warden. We doesn’t even know if the people who were captured where actually by breaking laws of Belos in there or if the warden just decides that were crimes. I go by the later since i cant imagen Belos creating laws build on what fanfiction can entail. Meaning the warden was clearly misusing his power ( he tried to force eda into a date so it is clear he has done power misusing before ).
3. To hard punishments
The killing of wild witches is to hard a punishment.
All these points are bad but doesn’t scream of a destroying of the system but of an improving. The bad things happen because Belos isn’t bothering with it and the punishment makes sense with his upbringing in mind. A new ruler is needed but Belos doesn’t deserve a punishment for not fixing these mistakes. His treatment of Eda was bad but understandable in the sense that she refused to join a coven and got a death sentence beforehand. Fixing her if the sentence is death would be pointless. We dont know if he would have fixed her, If she actually excepted.
Story:
Luz sees these bad things and decides to destroy the system. She is a person who is trapped in her own world and doesn’t see the point of others. Like bringing snakes or spiders into school which no understanding she could harm others. She isn’t a bad person but this is something she should learn. In episode one she learned she is not the chosen one but which how the story goes she never actually learned it and was even proven to be the one in the end. She saw Amity as hetake the rival to her hero. But never thought Amity was Asura and her the bully. Her intire friendship started with her seeing her live as a hero Journey, where she has to befriend the evil rival. The idea of her actually being the bully or the villain from other people perspective because she exedently hurts others is only used once and never brought back up again.
Her story could be that she wants to defeat the evil Belos. We follow her point of view so only in the aftermath do we get the view of the the situation from others. She learns that people actually like Belos and it wasn’t some evil mind control or stupidity going on. But the system Belos build is flawed but much better than what came before. By getting rid of him she actually harmed the world she loves. She learns she was the villain by not thinking everything throw nor knowing everything. This is normal she is only a kid in a new world where she doesn’t know the story nore has she seen everything. The idea that she automatically knows what is better for everyone is absurd.
She defeats Belos by tricking him into going into the human world and closing the portal after him. There he is arrested by the human Government.
After her Realisation that Belos rule wasn’t evil and that he is necessary for the survival of the demon real ( i explain later ). She has to emotionally confront her mistakes, which is an actually huge mistake instead of giving Belos the glyph. Her plan of getting him back is the main event. She is important because Luz is the only one who knows the human realm. The witches dont know guns, where everything is or how to blend in. Luz becomes the hero because she is human and can lead everyone to victory. Not because she suddenly gets more magic. Her speciallity is her knowledge of both places and the people, building up the army of witches in such a way that their power fit to the task. She cant even use glyph in this world but she decently takes the lead because of her personality. She isn’t chosen to fight but end up here because she of her actions. learning of other people strenges and making a Mistake by judging Belos.
Belos story is actually more about his past.
In this vision he is actually the chosen one by the titan. The Titan is a corpse and all the people living one him are technically orgasm who are dependent of him. If he completely rots they all die as well. His Magic is keeping the place alive and everyone is constantly using up magic. What if the witches are connected to the titan Magic and are using up the Magic he needs to remain. Since he is death he can’t replenish his Magic reserves. He need to connect to something alive so it can replenish is reserves for him. No witches where an option since they have Buile sacks already. So he chose to open a portal to the human world and connect to a human. ( we even saw in Luz story a human and a portal ). This is belos who now can do the most powerful magic but being connected with something death is hurting him. Explaining his pain and plan. He planned to mix the worlds together so that the witches could live on earth and he doesn’t have to keep the titan going any longer, choosing to die. His creation Hunter would rule once he died and make sure the witches settle into the new world.
Belos decision to rule is build opon the fact he can make sure people use lass Magic, get everything better together for his plan to mix the worlds and his want to make the place better. He saw in his long live much abuses and thought he could install laws. He is in this version someone who tried and partly succided in making a better world. His flaw is that as the chosen one he did the opposite Luz did. He never talked to others giving him no change of improving or explains his reasoning. He just thought he knowed best and has to do everything alone. Mixing this flaws with his uprising, horrible experience, constant pain and thinking of having to fix everything as chosen one, in one package. Making him not a villain but someone who needs a break.
When Luz saves him from the human government he actually is charing his mind with someone else. She decides that the human world is not ready to be mixed and if belos is in pain because of his connection to the titan she can share his connection because she is human as well.
Luz becomes part of the titan and her new job is to find people in the human world who would want to be part of the demon realm. Choosing people who get connected to the power of the Titan. Giving them Magic powers but by sharing lessening the pain. Everyone she chooses becomes part of the chosen one concept, being the reason for the titan existing. She does this because Belos sees her as the only one who has a good enough personality to make such a decision.
The end is Luz being special because of her Jugment of people where she made a mistake once and her ability to connect to others. Given her a part in both worlds as chosen one finder. Hunter improves the System with Edas help and Belos decides to go into rent instead of dying. Which this much sharing going on he is no longer in pain and can actually injoy his live for once, even teach other humans how to use titan power.
Everyone who actually read this what do you think. Is this a good Story based on what we were given in Season one.

It's heartbreaking that the day Itachi massacred his clan, he continued to blame himself and himself only despite the Leaf leaders putting him in those circumstances. He knew how horrible the whole Leaf leadership was. He TRIED to warn his clan about their impending failure, which was inevitable, and his words were immediately brushed off without the Uchiha even considering them. Because they saw him as a traitor.
He considered himself insignificant, yet hoped the Leaf leaders would make something out of the given time that they had after Shisui died. But no... Hiruzen didn't do a thing. Itachi saw that. He noticed how the whole government wanted the Uchiha dead. He knew Hiruzen's words of kindness were a farce.
The possibility of the 4th World War, the Uchiha failing and dying at the village's hands, and then eventually being labeled the traitors and criminals forever, despite being the founding members of the Hidden Leaf Village. The coup had no positive outcome whether they won or lost. Even then, he fully understood why the Uchiha really would do this. And he wanted to be the Hokage so that the village would stop seeing them with suspicion. He worked hard to be a strong and powerful ninja. He wanted to help his clan too. He saw all the darkness of the Hidden Leaf. And he wanted to change that without any bloodshed.
But the grownups around him failed him. His parents failed him. The Leaf Village failed him. Itachi was only 12-13. A lonely kid. And Shisui's death broke him to the extent he never found himself again. The anime shows him as a complete badass king that can't lose to anybody, but he was beyond broken and traumatized as a 4-5 year old itself. He was suffering and only found comfort in Sasuke's company.
When Obito told Sasuke that Itachi was callously used by the Shinobi system, he wasn't lying at all. Both the Uchiha and the Hidden Leaf used him as a tool, refused to see him as a human, let alone a child. There was a reason why he never shared his pain with anyone. Because he knew no one was willing to listen to him. The ones with absolute authority who could have done something, didn't do anything.
He took the blame and the burden of killing his clan not because he believed they deserved to die, but because their death was imminent (Danzo made that one clear to him), and after their deaths their honour would be stripped as well.
The rest of the characters are super lucky to never have been put in the situation Itachi was. We never know how it would have turned out for them, except for the main character (because the narrative is going to make the main character end up being the right one and the winner as well).
The Uchiha were the victims. Itachi was a victim. Sasuke was a victim. They all deserved better. But their lives were destroyed because of the weak leadership of Hiruzen, corrupted ideology of Danzo and the two Elders.

NIMH AU: Jenner
Tumblr media
Full Name: Jenner Winford
Species:  Human -> IM-Human (through experiment in NIMH)
Age: 40~41
Gender: Male
Other names: Commander Winford
Occupations: Military commander (formerly), Minister of Military arms in Bund of NIMH
Residence: 1st Bund of NIMH
Family: Racso Winford (long lost son; presumed dead), unnamed wife (deceased)
Relationships: Nicodemus (his leader; formerly), Jonathan Brisby (acquaintance-> enemy), Justin (rival->enemy), Sullivan (his henchmen; formerly), Mr. Ages (acquaintance->enemy), Ministers of the Bund (acquaintances)
Likes: His position, revenge on NIMH/human war criminals, power, lust, old bund of NIMH, Elizabeth Brisby (his object of obsession) Dislikes: NIMH, his family killed by NIMH, Nicodemus’ “suffocatingly” pacifistic ideals, any of IM-Humans following Nicodemus, the moving plan
Jenner Winford was a military commander during war and in the Bund, he was a minister of Military Arms. At one point, he used to have a wife who died of childbirth and had a son named Racso who was raised with love and care by him. However at the hardship of war, Jenner and his son was captured and sent to the NIMH along with other soldiers where he become an IM-Human through experiment as the Bund was founded in a land where he promised his son to build their new house at. However, as Jonathan helped him and others escaped, Jenner returned to his career as commander and with his newfound strength and intelligence in warfare, the enemy troops retreated. But, Jenner received a news that his son—who was 11 at that time—was killed by tortures in concentration camp of NIMH, hence the villainy of Jenner began with lament and anger.
With new rank as minister of Military Arms in Bund, a newfound hatred of humans, growing rage and vengeance against NIMH, he Jenner was obsessed with murdering whoever related with the NIMHs, even torturing NIMH scientists’ families to death and was consumed with lust for power to become a Prime Minister of the Bund. Once a year he would visit the very spot where he wanted to build a house with his son to remind himself in determination to keep the Bund protected from humans. At one point, he overheard Nicodemus discussing with Mr. Ages, Justin and Jonathan about moving the bund. Jenner was against the idea and had occasional heated argument with Jonathan. The last time they have spoken to one another, Jonathan told him his murderous rage on humans was not what late Racso would have wanted and told him to let go of the past.
Year after the death of Jonathan Brisby, Jenner returned victorious with the war against enemy nations and had gathered quite amount of followers within the Bund as a group who prefer to stay instead of moving it to the Thorn Valley. When encountering Jonathan’s widow, Jenner was briefly taken back of the unheard news of Jonathan having a wife and children. However, he smelt the opportunity and expressed hospitality to Elizabeth Brisby. He was aware Nicodemus would actively partake in moving the Brisby house with his magic, so he’d use that opportunity to finally get rid of Nicodemus, taking over the position as Prime Minister of the Bund and expand its territory to make the entire nation his. Through these days, he actually developed obsession towards Elizabeth Brisby, but unable to approach her as she was with Justin most of the time.
When at the day of moving, Jenner had his men immobilize the Brisby mansion by destroyed Jonathan’s magical trinkets and the enchanted strings of Jeremy, successfully severed the pact between Elizabeth and the crow spirit as the house’s weight crushed Nicodemus to death. When Elizabeth returned with a news of NIMH approaching next day, Jenner swiftly took control of situations by announcing that he would declare war on NIMH and the humans that follows the inhumane organizations. Holding her children and majority of IM-Humans as hostages through his men, Jenner abducted Elizabeth away persuading her to stay in the old Bund with him, even attempt to gaslight her into believe this could be what Jonathan wanted; his family stay in the Bund he founded. Seeing the true colors of him, Elizabeth refused firmly. When Jenner was about to rape her, he was stopped by Justin in time as Sullivan brought him to them. Enraged at the betrayal, Jenner severely wounded Sullivan as he and Justin engaged into sword fight. Recognizing the sword once belonged to Jonathan and its blade matched with same cutting traces from the immobilized house, Justin angrily called him out as murderer of two occasions; Jonathan’s and Nicodemus’. Jenner bitterly admitted that he indeed killed Jonathan and Nicodemus, claiming the two were trying to destroy the community he tried so hard to protect as he finished he had learned to “take WHATEVER he can, WHEN he can”. However, Justin disarmed and wounded him before going back to Elizabeth. When Jenner was about to finish him, wounded Sullivan threw his dagger and managed to stab Jenner on the back through his heart, causing the corrupt IM-Human to fall to his death at the similar spot he died; only the difference, is that while Jonathan was found dead in the arms of Virgin Mary’s statue, Jenner was found dead below the same statue.
Posthumously, Jenner was labeled as community traitor. But, Nicodemus concluded that he is a fallen man consumed with wrath on himself and the broken heart of being away from his long lost son that made him vulnerable in temptations for power and revenge. At the end, however days after the Brisby family’s departure, it was revealed Jenner’s son Racso was not dead, but actually has been alive and become an IM-Human.

I want to know your opinion about that question: anyone noticed that in meetings of the seven mysteries, not only are the seats oddly divided, but also the way in which the meeting is conducted. I mean Hanako-kun is the leader, but from the place where he is, it looks like he's being judged as a criminal, answering questions given by Kako as if he were the real leader. Why would Aida Iro have put it that way, I mean if Hanako-kun is the leader, not deviate from being the one to lead and judge?
Considering the circumstance, I believe it is quite visually cohesive to portray that scene as though Hanako is 'on trial' by the other mysteries. If you'll recall, Kako is interrogating Hanako on his reckless decision to destroy yorishiro, hampering the Mysteries from operating as usual, which puts the school at more risk from attack from other kaii. This is right before Obon, and thus, the Severance, which Hanako himself is indeed orchestrating — planning to render the School Mysteries useless by having them all booted to the Far Shore.
Tumblr media
The entire purpose of the Seven Mysteries is to regulate the relations between kaii and humans, so that there is no longer need for consistent sacrifice of kannagi. Hanako is effectively jeopardizing all of their 'jobs' by unseating several Mysteries... It does not really matter if Hanako is No. 7, if he is destroying the very institution he is 'in charge' of. He is the 'traitor', lol. Beyond that... with the most recent School Festival arc revealing that Hanako is missing memories tied to No. 1's clock, and the fact that it's composed of 3 individuals (unusual)... I believe they have a decent amount of sway in this system as well. No. 1 residing over something as powerful as the school's time is not so trivial to me, let's say it at least doesn't seem wrong that Kako is in a judicial position, here.
Our view of how the School Mysteries function is quite limited early in the series. I don't believe it's as straightforward as "Hanako is the defacto leader"... as more information is revealed to us, I am under the impression that the mysteries help regulate one another, to uphold their system. You could think about it, like... everyone here is a criminal, functionally, and there are harsh motivators that make everyone fall into line. If one misbehaves, it's up to the others to stop that... lest the Cops (The Minamoto/exorcists) actually intervene, which no one wants lol.
Life for kaii is harsh. Not many options, exactly. The Minamoto help enforce that reality by exorcising any kaii that exist outside the school, no exceptions. So, if you want to live at all in the Near Shore, you need to cling to this limited area. And then, if you want to be safe from being subjugated by other kaii, it would be beneficial to become powerful, and curry favor with those scary exorcists... Thus, it is desirable to maintain one's seat as a School Mystery. (Even if you're not a ghost, there's motivation to pursue it.)
More recently, in Ch 95, we have learned from Sakura the reality of yorishiro, and why they are specifically precious mementos of a Mystery's past life. It's not an arbitrary decision...
Tumblr media
Yorishiro are precious keepsakes to serve as blackmail. Sakura is explaining this to Nene so that she can absorb the blunt truth of it all. Ostensibly, your yorishiro would be something so important to you, that you could not bear destroying ruthlessly (as the process requires you to render it unrecognizable...) It would also be something you want to preserve and protect from others. You would want to defend your seat as a mystery, to forever guard this belonging. You would... rather other mysteries behave and not disrupt the peace, so that you could cling to this.
I feel like it's important to remind people, the Mysteries are not really... friends. A lot of them flat out hate Hanako, because he is so poorly behaved, but even beyond that, I do not think there is much comradery between them. Not enough to risk very much for one another. It's VERY distinct that Tsuchigomori has personal investment in Hanako, and that's a VERY specific circumstance that lead to that. I think the others are, most neutrally, strangers, or coworkers, you could say... And at worst, actively dislike the other. There's very little trust here... between them all.
It's all a very tenuous relationship... Let alone the fact that Hanako is the sort of person who disregards most and only cares about his most precious, special girlies.
Tumblr media
So if you ask me, I don't really see anything wrong with this arrangement. Is Hanako not being persecuted, in this moment? And is he not harboring secret plans to undermine everyone, secretly?? He's actually quite, egregiously rude and detached from this circumstance...
Tumblr media
Completely self-aware at what he is doing, and not feeling a lick of guilt about it.
So, I don't think AidaIro are betraying his character by setting up a scene like this. If anything, I think AidaIro-sensei are being fun and theatrical, conveying the atmosphere of what this encounter is (even if we don't have all the information yet.) He is a criminal-!!
Hanako may be the leader of the Mysteries in a sheer technical sense, like, that's his job title... But it's not something he is deeply proud of, or wishes to preserve. It's not a super integral part of his ID...
In this way, I think of Hanako's feelings about this to be in direct contrast to someone like Kou, who is desperate to uphold the title of 'exorcist'... desiring to preserve a legacy, uphold traditional values, etc... What does being a Mystery really even mean to Hanako-? Not much, I don't think. He is willing to throw it all away.
Tumblr media
Mmm, and who's to say he's wrong to?

Can we please get a sequel to the post about Jaune bring pissed off about wanting a partner? It is gold.
Alright. Bet. I don't do this often but- Very well. Part 2. After Jaune recruits Neo into the party.
Ruby: Jaune you traitor!
Jaune: Oh! I’m a traitor?!
Blake: How could you let Neo join our team? You didn’t even let us have say!
Jaune: So?!
Weiss: You let her beat Ruby up!
Jaune: And I forgave her.
Yang: I can’t believe your trusting her.
Jaune: Oh like you trusted Robyn right?
Balke: Hang on that was different. Robyn was-
Jaune: A criminal. Who stole from the Atlas military. Who also was interfering with our plans long before Salem’s forces came into the picture.
Nora: Well Neo’s was Roman’s old assistant.
Jaune: Emerald was Cinder’s old assistant. What are you trying to tell me?!
Ren: She’s untrustworthy Jaune.
Yang: She tried to murder us back on the island.
Jaune: Okay since we are on trust and bringing up old and new shit let’s start this debate. How long has Emerald been with Cinder?
Ruby: For a while I guess.
Jaune: And Cinder put Amber in a deadly position where Pyrrha had to become a maiden in her place. Cinder didn’t have maiden powers before right? How did Amber end up in that condition? Hm. Anyone?
RWBYRN: *silent*
Jaune: Speaking of Pyrrha, didn’t Emerald help traumatize her by making her destroy Penny the FIRST time?!
Ruby: … Um…
Jaune: Didn’t she try to kill you back Heaven?!
Ruby: Well…
Jaune: Oh and here’s a good question. What happened at Amity?! Cause I recall it working, then suddenly it’s not and after seeing Penny when she was a robot-
Ruby: Android!
Jaune: I know- she was in horrible condition. Almost as if she got jumped. Care to explained that Emerald?
Emerald: Hey Neo was apart of that too.
Jaune: Didn’t even deny it.
Oscar: Regardless Emerald saved my life. Of course we can trust her unlike that time with James and the fact Neo tried to kill us.
Jaune: Are you se- Oscar, I’m sorry that James shot you but really, the moment we got to Atlas we all choice to keep secrets.
Ruby: I had my reasons.
Jaune: But what were they?
Ruby: We saw Mantle Jaune, it’s obvious why I didn’t trust him.
Jaune: Hold up, so you didn’t trust James because he was tight on security in Mantle?! Even though he told us why! Remember in his office? The plans? The whole point of Amity Arena?! Not to mention the people of Mantle were acting like entitled pricks. The people started a riot.
Nora: For understandable reasons Jaune.
Jaune: Okay, but then they destroyed their own security and their city before the Grimm even arrived to reap their souls. What does that tell you?
Nora: Um…
Jaune: And again, what has Robyn been doing? What has she done to help us?
Blake: Jaune she was just didn’t know what was going on.
Jaune: Neither did anyone else. So once more, what has she done for us? And I mean before we become criminals. Or before the disaster happened.
Yang: …. …. Mm…. I-i can’t say anything on that… b-but since you’re so key on that then why didn’t you trust James? Why didn’t you tell him the truth?
Jaune: … … *sigh* Yang how did you get your arm?
Yang: … ….
Jaune: When you got set up by Mercury and Emerald, where you could have been arrest, who bailed you out?
Yang: We’re were punished though.
Jaune: Yeah, it’s like winning a tournament is important than not going to jail for attempted murder. Ruby, who bailed you out when you were found in the security room back at Beacon?
Ruby: And he praised me for that too.
Jaune: Weiss, didn’t he offer you a place in his school? Heck didn’t he stop you from getting into trouble at your father’s party? And even agreed with your statement.
Weiss: Indeed. Wait-wait-wait, hold on, w-what does this have to do with-?
Jaune: Ren. Nora. Can either recall anything specific James has ever done for us? And I don’t just mean as a team but also on an individual level.
Ren: He gave us our licenses.
Jaune: After everything, we went through, we deserved our licenses. Plus, for how crazy things were he needed all the help he could get.
Nora: He’s not wrong Ren.
Jaune: Anything else? Cause I recall it took me going to Mistral to learn about Pyrrha, the machine, maiden powers, and relics when I could’ve been told all that back at Vale. But no, neither he nor Gylanda told me shit. Even though Pyrrha was my damn partner!
Nora: … Man, h-he has a point. I-it speaks for itself.
Jaune: Basically Oscar, James shot you because you decided to tell him everything when the city was already on fire! Plus, didn’t Hazel beat you to a bloody pulp before he helped you? Why is he forgiven? In fact, what did Emerald do get you to trust her?
Oscar: …. *smacks his lips*Yeah… yeah th-th-that I-I got to admit was BS.
Jaune: See the hypocrisy here? This is why I gave up being a leader because I got no respect.
Ren: I mean you make a lot of dumb choices.
Jaune: Really? Have you done any better? Because it wasn’t for my choice to steal an Atlas airship, we wouldn’t have gotten to Atlas at all. Hell, we would’ve had to trade Weiss in. If it wasn't for my plan to go inside the whale, we one; couldn’t go get Oscar and two; escape. Hell if wasn’t for me killing Penny, wouldn’t a thousands of people be dead including all of of you and Weiss’s sister?
Winter: …. …. …. I can’t deny that.
Weiss: Winter!
Winter: I mean I’m alive.
Nora: But Jaune we do respect you. We love you remember.
Jaune: Girl, that means nothing coming from you. And that's why I said you and Ren are the most unreliable teammates. You two barely help me when I need you. Hell, I’ve been doing more work than ya’ll combined.
Nora: Not true we-
Jaune: So when we were at Heaven why it is none of you helped me with Cinder? Hm. I was fighting a maiden by myself while you were tag-teaming Hazel. Where both you got your butts handed to you. Mostly Ren.
Nora and Ren: … ….
Jaune: Then you waited until Oscar went missing to start talking to me about what happened. Like we couldn’t have talked about that when we were on the train? But then when we got to Atlas- oh my god you two got even worse! Especially you Nora.
Nora: Um...
Jaune: I was being nice to you but you chose to get mad at me cause Ren didn’t have time for you. Then when Neo showed up, you two proceeded to get mopped. Me and Oscar were doing more work than that!
Oscar: That’s a fact. H-he speaks the truth.
Jaune: Next, you and Ren started arguing along with Yang and Ruby to where I had to break it up like last time. You left our team and when we got back after almost dying, no “Hi.”, “Hello” or at least some form of “I’m glad your here.”.
Nora: … … …
Jaune: And Ren I don’t know what the hell was wrong with you but you were tripping!
Ren: Um.
Jaune: Like I was trying to help you. I was trying to understand what was wrong but everytime---Everytime I try you be acting like Sasuke with a stick up your ass. Like I wasn’t into lying to James but we still did it. You still chose to keep the secret.
Ren: Hinse why I was upset.
Jaune: Then why didn’t you tell him? Hell, what were you doing to make things better? Cause I hate to break it to you brother but without me, your semblance is as useful as your upgraded weapon and skill set. Which is not high.
Ren and Nora: *sad*
Jaune: I’m just saying, where was the love? Cause I sure as hell didn’t feel it. In fact, ya’ll used me as a test dummy for the portals. Even though Emerald was there.
NRO: … … ….
Jaune: And this is why I wanted Ilia on our team. Hell, I regret killing Penny! Cause at least I can finally have someone to have my back. Something I can’t say for you three!
Ruby: Okay but still Neo is a trickster. What if she stabs you in the back?
Jaune: I’ll take my chances.
Yang: Why?!
Jaune: As the saying goes, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Meaning Neo hates Cinder just as I do. So I can at least trust the fact that she wants her dead.
Neo: *nods in agreement*
Jaune: Emerald worked for Cinder especially so… how do you know she won’t sell you out if it means she keeps Cinder’s praise?
Ruby: That… is actually a good point. No matter. You will regret this Jaune.
Neo and Jaune start not talking to each other for now. After a few months of working together, Neo suddenly starts opening up to Jaune. Jaune even starts to make her laugh a few times. They then started spending time together as friends. Neo then proceeds to start talking to everybody though they had a hard time considering she’s a mute. Neo then continues showing everyone kindness however other than Jaune no one else believed it.
Jaune started appreciating more and more. This caused her to start valuing him to the point it started to feel weird. She decided to tell Nora about but as Nora started understanding what she was feeling she was shocked, happy, and yet angry that Jaune was right.
Nora: (Damn it.) Well… Neo, what your feeling maybe has to do with… … love.
Neo: *turns red*
Nora: (Ruby is most definitely not going to want to hear this. Her pride wouldn’t be able to take it.)

I'm finally done! Here's my gal, Yuni!
This is the IDW version.
Backstory under cut
Yuni was left on the porch of a nice couple before getting kidnapped and taken to who knows where. She luckily escaped and found herself in a city ridden of criminals.(An underground city where criminals live and work. Cops don't dare enter due to how many powerful and dangerous criminals there are.)
Yuni gets picked up by Jackie, a short eared rabbit, and gets introduced to a gang. Jackie and the gang leader fight and Jackie leaves. Which leaves Jackie to take care of Yuni all alone.
Jackie makes the mistake of asking for loans to pay for food and other necessities. To pay off the debt's she takes multiple jobs and at one point becomes a hitman. And even with the little money she earns she makes sure Yuni grows up strong and happy. Few years later Jackie takes a job that will take a long time to complete and will help them live a wealthy life, Jackie tells Yuni(age 10) that there's food in the fridge and that she'll be back. So Yuni is left alone as Jackie kisses her goodbye and closes the door.
Days pass and a loud knock is heard on the door before it bursts open. Jackie's boss enters and only sees Yuni. He pin stabs Yuni against the wall and questions her about Jackie's money. Yuni says that they don't have any and Jackie's boss gets an idea. He tells Yuni that she'll have to work for him in order to pay the debt as Jackie’s younger sister.
Every mission/job Yuni goes to ends up leaving a wound, both mentally and physically. For 4 years Yuni manages to get the job done but ends up getting tortured. Until the last two years where she finally gets her powers and finishes the job quicker and doesn’t end up with scars. She keeps doing this until the whole Sonic forces event thing about Eggman taking over the world along with Infinite the jackal.
At one point Eggman attacks the city and the roof of the underground city falls but Yuni survives due to her new abilities. When she goes out she she’s that everything is destroyed and when she walks around she spots her boss asking for help as he crawls out of a building. Yuni only stares and doesn’t say anything as a piece of the building falls and kills him.
Yuni come to the realization that she’s free and burns any record of Jackie’s debt. She goes around her home and finds a bag with Jackie’s old clothing, which is a green poncho, boots, and a cowboy hat. Yuni puts it on, packs everything she has, and goes out of what used to be the city to change her life.
She stays away from combat and refuses to show her face. The only time she saved a small town from an Eggman attack she got overwhelmed with the positive comments that she didn’t want to do it again. She travels around and observes as Dr.Eggman and Infinite conquer the world and how Sonic and the rookie fight against them.
After that whole ordeal, including the metal virus(which she didn’t get infected), she decides to finally join the resistance. She’s quiet and observes everyone when she’s there, to the point that she nods or shakes her head to not offend anyone. When she finally warms up to people and realizes she isn’t going to get hurt she shows her powers and opens up. By now, she’s more easy going and is healing both physically and mentally.
Aaand that’s the whole story! But please be aware I’ll keep redesigning her.

i feel like the reason it’s so hard to figure out how kim and jimmy and better call saul in general will end is because the conclusion doesn’t feel foreordained like it did in breaking bad. walt and jimmy (and kim) are both on downward trajectories over the course of both shows, but walt is treated as a straightforward villain in a way jimmy (and kim) aren’t. jimmy’s inferiority complex and desire to cheat--without thinking about the consequences of his actions--are his tragic flaws, but those flaws go alongside virtues. he has a caretaker impulse, an ability to be genuinely gentle and loving. he has a sense of righteousness and fairness that go beyond himself. those impulses often get thwarted and misdirected by his flaws, but that’s what makes him complex. by contrast, any traits of walt’s that might seem positive ultimately come back to ego. his obsession with family and being a provider is at bottom an obsession with himself, a desire to be a successful and powerful patriarch. walt is straight-up associated with nazis, nazism being a worst-case scenario for his power-obsessed mindset.
peter gould already described the differences between the two characters well here:
Tumblr media
basically, walt dying and destroying everyone around him felt like an obvious conclusion because breaking bad is fundamentally critical of walt and everything he stands for. but better call saul does not seem fundamentally critical of jimmy and kim the same way. it is critical of them, but it’s a kind of critical that’s also tinged with real sympathy. the same goes for a lot of characters in the show tbh. nacho, chuck, mike. jimmy feels somewhere in between walt and jesse, maybe. like walt, jimmy is responsible for his fall, but unlike walt he is also a person capable of real good intentions. like jesse, jimmy is someone that people often think less of because of his criminal past, and who wants the approval of authority figures who never quite give it. like jesse, jimmy gets in over his head. but unlike jesse, jimmy is not trapped by a series of people who want to use, abuse, and generally manipulate him. jesse is not an innocent, but he has less agency than jimmy (like walt is associated with literal nazis, jesse comes to be associated with literal slavery).
what i’m getting at is that without a true villain to center the morality of better call saul, all of the endings of the characters have felt open-ended. not that stories have to revolve around a moral attitude, but breaking bad did more or less, which is why it’s tempting to view better call saul in the same light. even if it doesn’t necessarily fit. better call saul seems to be a story of a man torn between the best and worst parts of his nature, the fakest and the truest parts of his nature. and we seem to know the ending of that story: that the worst part wins. (is that part the true or fake one though? perhaps that’s a false dichotomy). because we seem to know that ending, it’s made sense that characters like chuck and nacho died along the way. chuck was jimmy’s hope for approval, and nacho was his hope of escaping the cartel. or again: so it seems, anyway. these parts of jimmy dying arguably parallel his deterioration, like the deterioration of the opening credits.
but at the same time, the inclusion of the gene scenes from the very first episode point at the story continuing after jimmy becomes saul. gene is jimmy humbled, but is that all that this is leading to? a story of hubris and nothing else? both the gene scenes and the opening montage of season six seem to be saying: jimmy tried to run away from himself, but he couldn’t. but if both the best and the worst parts of jimmy are the “real” parts, then it follows that he wouldn’t ultimately be able to run away from either what makes him bad or what makes him good. the show might read as a tragedy in many ways, and for good reason, but i would honestly be surprised if it ends in an entirely negative way. i’m betting that it will be something more bittersweet. but it’s hard to know what that bittersweetness will look like.

12, 13, 14 foooor Kelp?
Thanks for asking! You don't even know Kelp yet, so let me tell you a little about him. He's my most recent DND PC, which I'm playing in a friend's homebrew game called "Shattered Moon."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's a Runechild Sorcerer Sea Elf and I've been having the biggest brainrot about him in the past week! I wrote three fics for his past, oops, lmao. Anyway, a bit more about him under the cut (two of my fellow players follow me here, but hopefully they won't see this post. but if you do -- you know who you are -- do not read under the cut XD)
So Kelp (then called Rhodoph) was born underseas, in a small farming, traditional community surrounded by kelp forests, and his father was a shaman who taught him all about the golden coral reefs (the corals of Luetkeana) that existed where they lived (the region of Pyrifera), and that his community believed to be the remnants of the spirit of the great primordial of the oceans (Luetkeana).
To cut a long story short, Kelp gets his runes when the moon cracks, and he starts having visions of catastrophe and destruction. At the same time, a powerful underwater empire that was trying to encroach into their territory starts extracting the corals, and Kelp is certain, through his visions, that destroying the corals (besides being a religious desecration) will hasten the end of the world, so he takes up arms and leads a resistance (later a revolution) to protect the reefs and his people from the Empire.
Eventually, the empire stomps the rebellion, and Kelp ends up sold to the surface to a sadistic mage who uses him as an arcane battery (because his runes store energy) for years, until he manages to escape, kill the mage, and that's when the campaign began (we started at level 6)!
Done! Now on to the questions!
12. Is your OC self-destructive? In what ways?
Extremely, but not in a self-sabotaging or self-hating kind of way. He's self-destructive because he made up his mind to fight for the coral reefs no matter what that cost him, and his life is a small price to pay for that ecosystem to survive.
13. If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
We would, but we probably wouldn't be friends, just friendly acquaintances. Although we are politically aligned, he's a rural "take up arms and fight" kind of guy, and I'm an academic "write stories that inspire people to learn about and admire those who take up arms and fight" kind of guy. I admire him (and people like him) more than he would admire me (because he's free of our academicist bias/our eurocentric ideas of intellectualism).
14. How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?
That's a really interesting question because most of my OCs tend to care about what other people think and how they see them, but not Kelp. Kelp honestly, truly, doesn't give a flying fuck. He's already been famous -- loved and admired and revered as a prophet by some, hated and feared and slandered as a criminal, an outlaw, a demon-pacted mass-murderer by others. None of that matters. He doesn't like having a positive public image any more than he likes a negative one -- Both can be used though, so great. As long as he knows he's fighting to protect Pyrifera and the corals, people can think whatever they will about him.
