My brain is unwilling to let go of Twin AU prompts. Sorry for the long post lmao.
Jazz and Jason are getting pretty serious in their relationship, and honestly, they’ve both been hesitant to introduce their family members to one another despite constantly talking about them. They’ve been dating since she started her doctoral studies at Gotham U and she’s about to defend her dissertation, so it really is about time. He saved her in her first week as the Red Hood and he immediately felt at home with her (something, something liminal), she runs into him the next day at a coffee shop and thanks him for taking the time to help her.
Identities are obviously blown. Jason knows that her brother works in ‘politics’ and her younger sister is a travel blogger, and that the three of them don’t talk to her mad scientist parents anymore. Jazz knows that he came back from the dead, his adoptive family had a slew of issues in addition to their hero-complexes and that he would be prepared to kill for any one of his siblings. Their communication skills are top notch.
But then came the issue of actually meeting the family. Like Jazz knows all of the drama between the siblings but could not pick them out of a line up, or more importantly, know who to talk to if an emergency situation came up. Jason agrees, that yeah, it would probably be for the best if he could at least identify her little brother and sister if they had to like, meet at hospital or something.
So that was the plan. Invite just siblings over to their shared apartment, no parents and no fuss. (She even called Danny ahead of time to tell him not to portal straight into the apartment, he needed to walk in the door like a normal person. They could share Ghost King secrets later.)
Tim arrives first, he’d been working a case nearby and Jazz & Jason live pretty close to a nice coffeeshop, so he stopped along the way. He’d done some creeping to figure out that she drinks Chai so he brought one for her. Creepy and yet, endearing.
Ellie comes in second from the window, launching into a story about how annoying it was to find the place with all the gloom, didn’t this city have any respect for the dead? Tim doesn’t get it but Jason is laughing along so Tim files it away for later.
Dick comes in with a shit ton of Pizza he panic ordered, a fruit bouquet and two bottles of wine from Bruce’s cellar. Duke came along with him, a large tupperware of Alfred’s cookies.
Then Steph, Babs and Cass show up, immediately treating Jazz like family while also being hella suspicious about the whole thing. She notices them looking at her hands and Jazz explains that no, they weren’t doing this because Jason proposed. Steph and Cass are annoyed at Jason but tell Jazz she could do better if she wanted. Babs is happy they aren’t rushing into anything (she’s the only one besides Tim that knows how long they’ve been dating- this is just to throw out a red herring for the others)
Everyone is getting along and having a great time, Ellie being a natural entertainer along side Dick, everyone trying to tell embarrassing stories about Jason. Loud noises are coming from the hallway when they realize that neither Damian nor Danny had arrived.
Rushing out the door, the boys are alternating putting each other into choke holds and arguing about not being clones. Danny keeps phasing out of Damian’s grip and Damian keeps pulling out more knives. The hallway looks like it had been blown up and the two are continuing to yell at one another about going to a family dinner. Jason and Jazz just stare at them from the doorway, and wouldn’t you know it, they look like fucking twins.
Jazz grabs Danny, Jason grabs Damian, and everyone is fucking confused. Both sides of the family can confirm growing up with the twins, that neither are a clone. Ellie helpfully supplies that she’s the clone and that opens a whole other bag of chaos.
Eventually they get everyone to sit down for dinner and the night gets weirder from there.

underrated batfam duos hcs
duke and bruce
THEY HAVE THE SAME SENSE OF HUMOR AND YOU CANT TELL ME OTHERWISE
they both like dad jokes
and they both like to play dumb pranks like
tying tims shoelaces together, but they dont want tim to get hurt so they install padded floors in the batcave
they both like 90s/early 2000s movies
they LOVE short animated films and tear up every time they watch lava
not to mention bruce is secretly really interested in how duke's powers work
duke knows this and purposely shows his powers off whenever bruce is around
cass and damian
i feel like cass does pottery and as we all know, damian does art (paints, sketches etc)
vases/sculptures and sketches/paintings to each other as presents
they give each other constructive criticism
they pott (??) and paint tgt
i like to think that damian mostly speaks Arabic and struggles a lil with English so they kinda get each other
they train and give each other tips and tricks
from an ex-assassin to an ex-assassin, from an artist to an artist
sparring sessions/training sessions are always most interesting with them
theyre crazy competitive with each other
but in a way that like they admire each other, alot
dick and steph
theyre both rays of sunshine and fit well together
occasional puns here and there
they love shopping and gossiping with each other
mani pedi days <33
scream singing songs in the car on the way back to the manor
they randomly buy gifts for everyone
buying cake even when there's no special occasion >>>>
dami and tim
ok so this one isn't really underrated but like idk when i'll talk about them again - sorry if this a lil lengthy
personally, i think they first bond over their love of mythology
tim who read percy Jackson as a kid meeting dami who's likes to learn about diff cultures
after finding out tim knows Greek mythology, damian warms up to him just a lil
tim of course, is really glad to finally make a sort of connection with his lil bro
they get along well after discussing myths a few times
tim introduces dami to percy Jackson and dami introduces tim to a bunch of different myths and legends
they make it a weekly thing to just sit, read and have tea
they love discussing about the similarities between different myths
they watch the miscellaneous myths series on youtube together !!!
they actually get along really well with each other
but they hide it so they dont get teased by the others
they have a lotta hang time since theyre both also at ma kent's house a lot
damian's the type of brother to third wheel a date to make sure kon is treating tim right
mind you, damian's old fashion, if kon doesn't offer a seat for tim, damian glares at him
'how dare he show up without flowers' -damian to jon probably
yea he's over-protective of his siblings
the was bruce is over-protective of his kids yk
anyways, kon is scared of him
tim likes that dami is overprotective of him (although it can get a little annoying) cos it shows that dami loves and cares for him
knowing that damian, who used to hate him now treats him like a brother
just makes tim so happy
oops sorry this was a little long, lemme know if u want more of this type of content!!

Hi! I love your blog and I love Tim’s character in the Batfam. I keep on getting Tim Drake hate on my dash and you are right the fandom is mean to him. Like I think the reason why the fandom hates him so much is because he started out normal. Like No intriguing backstory or trauma like the rest of his siblings but he was a kid who cared and got involved. But over Tim he got traumatized and yes, it did change him but that’s what’s interesting. He is relatable because he is normal like the rest of us. He could have had a normal life (though debatable. Also I sort of compare him to Peter Parker) He got involved because he did not like the fact that Batman was destroying Gotham in his grief so someone had to step up. And that person is Tim. The only person who could do something and come out in the end despite trials and tribulations. The person who do not know when to quit. Sorry I decided to do some Tim Drake Appreciation in this blog! This is way I play Gotham knight because that was the Tim I grew up with.
Heh, no worries, I appreciate the ramble. I'm the same way! I was so excited to play GK precisely because I could play as my favorite boy and the game delivered full-tilt.
Honestly though, I don't think normalcy has anything to do with the hate Tim gets. You didn't use to see vitriol like this aimed towards him during my first run in the fandom, during the 00s. Nah, the vitriol stems from the way that "Robin" has been twisted in the eyes of fandom to be treated less as a job or a specific narrative role and more like a golden apple with "to the bestest character" written on it.
It started with Steph's publicity-stunt, when DC made it such a big deal that "OMG this one has BOOBS" that it wound up biting them in the ass, since it made the whole storyline more important than they'd ever been intending to treat it (or her). That planted the seeds, which then started to spread thanks to the rise of standom and their tendency to refuse to allow their blorbos to ever be in the wrong or have negative traits.
So when Jason and Damian started their respective in-universe rivalries with Tim, instead of reading them as intended (as external expressions of Jason's struggle to deal with the world moving on after his death and Damian's insecurities about securing his father's affections, respectively), the stans twisted it into, "My blorbo can't possibly be wrong! So clearly the problem is with him!"
It is extremely annoying but, all you can really do about it is block frequently and curate your own happy little corner of the internet where those people just don't exist.

Reading through your list of WIPs, I was like, “T-posing for dominance? That sounds fun.” But then I saw Red Devil Rowdy and OH MY GOD I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED THIS CROSSOVER.
Tumblr media
For Essays on T-Posing, the concept was, "Janet Drake is Loki" and it's my first honest attempt at a Tim-centric fic. (I've actually been waiting for someone to ask about this one because I think it's pretty fun, at least to me anyway.) Emjoy lmfao.
* Crack Treated Seriously * Mama Loki (possible tie in with the Loki series? Like they're a variant? have not decided) * Weird/Annoying Siblings as Roommates * Power activation and Learning Curve(?) * Nobody else knows but they're suspicious
--
“I wasn’t aware you had a dog, Drake,” Damian’s voice, level and forcibly calm in what Tim knew was an effort to keep from cracking, said from somewhere in the living room with Mild Interest.
“A big dog,” Jason said. He shifted, “What the hell is it? A Pyrenees? You could make a whole other animal out of this hair.”
Damian scoffed, “It’s the wrong color,” like everyone had encyclopedic knowledge of different dog breeds built into their brains.
“He's a hybrid, actually,” Tim said after he finished quietly knocking his forehead against the door frame because god, what a time for a health and wellness check. “Canis Lupus - Gray Wolf, and some Irish Wolfhound. I think.”
“You think?” Jason echoed back, incredulous.
“I haven’t exactly had time to get him DNA tested, Jason.” Not that Fenrir would let Tim get anywhere near him unless a turkey leg or peanut butter filled Kong was involved.
“Where is he?” Damian said, the can-I-meet-your-dog tunnel vision activated at full strength.
Hopefully not terrorizing some poor idiot with mom somewhere. “At doggy obedience school.”
“Without you to guide him? For every dog there are two participants when it comes to obedience school, Drake.”
-- -*-*- Y'all gonna make my head blow up like Megamind over your reception of Red Devil Rowdy, lmao. I'll share a little more about it since you mentioned it in your ask.
* Jason (and batfam) is the only one that know the Gang is real because they've worked with Bruce at the beginning of his vigilante career * Danny is still fairly early in his Phantom days (14 years old, can't remember if I mentioned that in the first ask) * Mentor Jason, Velma and Daphne vibes * Bobby Singer basically functions as the team Fairy God Mother

It was a quiet night in Gotham, and a quiet night meant that even one vigilante was barely needed, let alone two. Damian was perfectly capable of handling a couple of handbag snatchers on his own, so what was Jon even doing here?
“I’m here to see you, of course,” Jon said, all sunshine smiles.
Damian just scowled. He was back in school now, at his father’s insistence and Richard’s request, and the other kids all looked at him suspiciously, like they could tell that there was something strange about him. It chipped away at something inside him that had just started to heal, to be treated as different again after finally feeling like he was belonging.
“Does Metropolis not need its hero?” he asked.
Jon shrugged. “There’s not a lot of night time crime there.”
How boring. “And your boyfriend? Does he not want you around?”
Jon’s smile faltered a little at that. “It’s not like we’re attached. I don’t see him all the time.”
Damian scoffed. “You’ve texted him thrice since you got here.”
“Wha- how do you know that?” Jon asked. He seemed irritated. When they were children he would have been impressed.
“You make the same face every time you get a text from him,” Damian replied.
“Oh,” Jon said.
It was nice, honestly. Jon had always had a massive heart, and Damian was pleased to see that he’d fallen for someone who seemed equally infatuated with him. Jon deserved to be loved like that.
He didn’t know how to say that though. He’d managed an “I’m happy for you” back when he’d first found out, but that seemed too small, somehow, for someone who was supposed to be his best friend. How could he tell Jon that he was proud of what he’d become and was becoming?
How could he talk about how Jon deserved to be loved when he himself had never felt that kind of love?
“So what is it?” he said, “Did he find a kitten in a tree that he needs you to rescue? Or is there a sudden shortage of pink hair dye?”
Apparently, when sincerity failed him he resorted to sarcasm.
“You’re in a bad mood today,” Jon said, now sounding properly annoyed. “If you don’t want me around then just say so.”
Jon used to be able to read through Damian’s cutting remarks, and see what he was really trying to say. What had happened, in the years they hadn’t seen each other, that had led to them failing to understand each other?
He shrugged. “I never asked you to be here.”
“Fine.” Jon stood, and yanked on the cape he’d taken off. He muttered something, too quiet to hear.
“What?” Damian asked sharply. He had never heard Jon sound like this.
Jon glared. “I said, you can be such a child sometimes, grow up.”
Oh.
Something must have shown on Damian’s face, because the irritation drained out of Jon’s expression.
“Damian,” he said.
Damian turned away, refusing to look at him. Maybe that was childish. “Leave,” he said, forcing his voice to remain steady.
“Dami, come on…”
“There are no metas allowed in Gotham,” he said, “Don’t make me enforce that now.”
It was a bullshit rule, and they all knew it. His siblings had been bringing in their superpowered friends for years. Jon didn’t call him out on it though, he just turned and took off. Damian didn’t look, not until he was sure that the red and blue speck had vanished from the sky.
He checked his watch. It was almost dawn. If he headed back now, he’d get three hours of sleep before school.
He turned on his comm. “Batgirl.”
There was a crackle, and then Stephanie’s voice. “Hey! What’s up? Everything fine?”
“Yes,” Damian replied, “I wanted to ask if you can cover my patrol zone for the next few hours?”
“Sure thing,” Steph replied, “Honestly I’m not sure you should even be patrolling on school nights.”
After Jon’s comment, that grated on his already frayed nerves. “I’m perfectly capable,” he replied, icy.
“I know,” Steph said, unperturbed, “But I remember how it killed me to juggle college and our nightwork. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break.”
“I suppose,” Damian allowed.
“Anyways, yeah, I can totally cover your patrol,” Steph said, “Go home, get some sleep kiddo.”
“Don’t call me that,” Damian snapped.
There was a pause, filled with the crinkle of static. “Okay,” Steph said slowly.
He felt guilty, because Steph had done nothing to deserve his ire. That blame fell on Jon, and Jay Nakamura, and the Legion of Superheroes who’d kept Jon away for so long that they’d forgotten how to be friends anymore.
“I apologise,” he said stiffly.
“No worries,” Steph said easily, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I'll see you,” he agreed, then disconnected the comm line. He stared at the sky, not sure what he was looking for. When nothing materialized, he pulled out his grapple and leapt off the building, heading in the direction of home.

it annoys me so much when people are like ‘oh all the members of the Batfamily grew up as only children’ like. no they didn’t
Dick explicitly had a brother in The Most Canonical Timeline, but even if he didn’t, a circus that’s going to have one kid around is going to have lots of kids around, there’s just no way he’s going to be the only kid around a bunch of adults the way the comics like to say. Either it’s a professionalized circus and Dick just wouldn’t be around practices/performances much at all, or it’s a generational circus full of families and he would be raised communally with all the other kids there treated like siblings by all the adults.
Jason spent a couple years homeless, and in that time relied on other kids and had them rely on him in order to survive, building familial dependencies and relationships he still cared about even after he came back as Red Hood. It was a massively interdependent network of everyone being the only one who really cared about the others, and all of them willing to do anything to defend each other. This is not even counting the number of foster homes he was in and out of and the other kids in them that he had to navigate as sibling relationships in order to figure out how to survive them.
Steph grew up in the kind of neighborhood where people are of necessity up in each other’s business, both because there’s no way to maintain real privacy and because they need to pay attention to warning signs of danger. Everyone knew her dad was Bad News, and everyone knew her mom couldn’t handle it on her own. Steph definitely had a neighbor with a similar aged kid who basically adopted her, and would always invite her over for a “playdate” and then straight up parent her whenever anything was too Much for her mom. Even though Steph doesn’t realize this happened until she’s an adult, well after they’ve fallen out of touch, eventually it occurs to her that the neighbor treated Steph and her legal child(ren) as siblings, and that’s why they never felt like friends.
Cass was raised by a man horrible enough to kidnap women and force them through pregnancy to breed his perfect assassin army, and had a whole passel of assassins around him at all times as part of this endeavor. How on earth can anyone expect he stopped at just one kid and didn’t constantly breed or kidnap more of them, forcing them all to live and learn and fight together? Even if he made specific provisions to separate them based on their genetics (plausible), he’s still the kind of guy who forcibly impregnated people, so he’d have a bunch of little baby hims around. Cass was just the most perfect soldier out of them.
Duke’s childhood involved him a) thinking it was on him to save his entire neighborhood and b) having the time to devote to that while no one else was paying attention and thinking that was the normal way to go about things. Which means that both his parents weren’t around much to guide him in learning because they were so busy, but that they socialized him with extremely strong community ties, in a community that trusted Duke back. Which means his parents left him all the time with a neighbor who was the hub of the community, a daycare essentially, but because the kids spent all day every day together basically, and the need to perform a united front was drilled into them as a young age, they thought of each other as family and therefore as siblings (for those in similar age bands).
Damian grew up with Mara being constantly pitted against each other, compared, taught together, and used against each other as punishment. They were each other’s worst enemies and only allies; they had no one to rely on but each other and they couldn’t rely on each other, but they couldn’t escape either because they were family. They were always around each other and that was the way it was going to be forever, until it wasn’t.
Babs’s brother was named JJ (James Gordon Jr.)

SURPRISE! [Maribat][Part 1]
PART 2: HERE | Part 3: HERE | Part 4: HERE | Part 5: HERE.
Several months after Jason's death and after accepting Tim as his disciple, one night Batman returned with a baby.
"Master Bruce, may I ask who your lovely company is?"
"Her name is Marinette. She's my daughter."
Alfred frowned. Then Batman thought it best to add that he didn't want to talk about it.
"Don't ask me about her origins. The most important thing is that she is my daughter and from now on she will live with me at the Manor."
"Understood."
Alfred respected his choice. Tim didn't seem too surprised, and Dick joked that he was amazed that Bruce didn't have more children than that (a joke that would be banned after Damian arrived).
No one asked any more questions. The baby had black hair and blue eyes. Who would question her parentage to Bruce in this case?
She grew up in the Manor as Marinette Wayne. A lot of things happened after that: Barbara's paralysis, Spoiler, then came Jason's return, then Damian's arrival.
The little girl knew many upheavals in her little life. However, Bruce had always made sure to protect her from outside dangers. Although she knew how to defend herself, she never put on a uniform and lived a "normal" civilian life (as normal as life could be in Gotham). Everyone knew that Bruce was extremely protective of Marinette. Including Damian. When he arrived at the house and tried to attack Marinette, Bruce was so angry that he managed to scare his son. Damian never tried anything in front of his father again (behind his back was another story).
The siblings all knew that Marinette was special. She was always treated differently from them. At first, since she was the only girl in the Manor, the boys thought it was probably the fact that she was Bruce's only daughter.
Then Cass came along, and everyone just had to face the fact that Bruce just preferred Marinette. It was very annoying but understandable... After all, she was not a fighter (more like a puppy), she was a civilian (a cute one), so she was fragile (nobody can be afraid of that brat…).
Then came a day... A fateful day that changed absolutely everything in the life of the little girl, but also in the life of those around her.
 Batman disappeared.
The little girl was orphaned. Wanting to get rid of the girl, Damian decided that the absence of his father was an opportunity to prove once and for all that he was the one and only son of Batman.
Dick, who was there at the time, told Damian that even if Marinette was adopted, it didn't change the fact that she was their sister... until the test results came back.
At that very moment, only Damian and Dick were present in the Bat-cave.
"Damian... This is a very funny joke, I didn't know you knew how to play pranks..."
" ... "
"This is a prank, isn't it?"
" ... "
Dick then repeated the test, and the same result came out every time. But... It was impossible... How?! After his twentieth attempt, Dick had to accept the truth. If he could, he would resurrect Bruce and then kill him with his own hands. He didn't understand... why?
Why had his adoptive father hidden such important information?
Then a sound of breaking glass was heard in the cave, almost startling Dick. Damian, who had seen the newcomer approaching, remained incredibly silent. Alfred was in the bat-cave, and by his completely horrified expression, he also ignored the truth.
The screen displayed the following DNA test result:
Biological father: Jason Todd
Biological mother: Sabine Cheng

I don't really plan to write a sequel, maybe if someone is interested I will. ^^

Graveyard Siblings (10)
So slight angst at the end and I made some changes to part 5 to fix a plot hole.
[Masterlist]
(Part 1)-(Part 9)
------
So it took a while but when the Order finally managed to put their organisation into some semblance of order and adapting to the change to modern times.
They managed to figure out that one of them had survived and that being Wang Fu. They tried to find him only to find a grave in London, stating he had died a few years ago.
Their next task was to find the Miracle Box and the other Miraculouses that had been scattered because of the senti-monster.
The reason they manage to adapt to the modern era was due to the helping hand of the League of Assassins, formerly known as the League of Shadows and currently led by one Ra’s Al Ghul.
One of the Guardians used to be brothers-in-arms with Ra’s and Ra’s was more than willing to help out an old friend in return to have the alliance of the Order.
None of them noticed how eager he was in helping to get the scattered Miraculouses back.
Su-Han tracked it to Gotham city and some of the assassins were there as ‘escort’.
Ra’s had suspicions that the Miraculouses were in Gotham. Considering the amount of magical energy radiating from there and how often the jewelry he suspects of being a Miraculous seemed to disappear after its arrival in Gotham.
If Su-Han was under the impression that there are Bat Guardians who were power-hungry for the Miraculouses and hoarding them in Gotham. Well...a little misinformation never hurt anyone.
So Su-Han managed to knock out a sleep-deprived Tim Drake and was trying to get through the admittedly strong security of the safe that the Miraculouses were hidden in.
Fortunately for him, Ra’s also sent along some of his tech guys.
Unfortunately for him, Babs and Alfred alerted the others about the intruders in the Cave and Tim managed to hit the panic button prior to being knocked out.
Nightwing and Spoiler were first back into the Cave.
Batman was next, running a few of the assassins over with the Batmobile and joining the fight.
Su-Han watched the ‘Bats’ fight the assassins. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw some brightly coloured blurs. He went into a defensive pose.
A bright blue portal appeared on top of the vault. Two figures, Red Hood and Robin, came out and took out the assassins working away at the vault.
Hellbat jumped in front of Su-Han.
“Who are you and what is your business with the Miraculouses?”
“I am Great Guardian, Su-Han,...” long-ass introduction. Yada yada yada
Maria tries to explain that she is a Guardian. However, he denies her title since Fu was never technically Guardian as he had never passed his training.
They fight. Maria tries not to harm the older Guardian and the old man wasn’t pulling his punches.
A few more fight scenes and the kwamis using their powers to help out in the fight.
Plagg was already ready to cataclysm the Guardian. Maria told him not to and the same to other kwamis who had the same idea. Su-Han was in awe that she was able to ‘command’ the kwamis without wearing any of the Miraculous.
He thinks that she uses ‘dark magic’ to get them to do her bidding.
“It’s actually called basic respect. They listen to me because I don’t treat them like slaves to do my every bidding and I respect what they can do.”
There was this entire thing where Maria kicks the Guardian out of Gotham for his treatment and views of the kwamis as dangerous creatures that should be controlled as slaves for humanity to ‘better’ the world. The Order is banned from entering Gotham.
The kwamis perform a ritual to achieve this and it extends to the League of Assassins and anyone who is still affiliated with it. So Ra’s can’t send any assassins to get the Miraculous. He is seething in his throne in Nanda Parbat over it.
Jason and Tim, sometimes Damian, would send pictures of them transformed with a Miraculous just to annoy him.
Talia once came back from her annual visit to Damian with a picture of her wearing the dragon. She is a good mom. Bruce and Talia have divorce parents arrangements for custody of Damian and Jason.
It was a long time before Maria and the more open-minded Guardians of the Order came to a compromise regarding the security and safety of the Miraculous and the treatment of the kwamis.
The Miracle Box and the ones she had collected over the years would remain under her protection. They and the Bats would collaborate on the search for the missing Miraculouses but those new ones would be under the protection of the Order. The kwamis under the Order would be treated well and be able to experience the world. Long story short, a lot of new changes were made to the old ways
Some didn’t take the new changes well and they left. (Presumably to get rid of Maria and her influence. Those attempts so far have been unsuccessful.)
Most were displeased but understood that it was for a good cause and they soon saw the improvements it made.
-------
One day, during her stay in Tibet, the older Guardians asked to speak with her. “During our search for the Miracle Box which was passed on to you from our old student, Wang Fu, we went to the city known as Paris and we discovered a man who had his wish fulfilled.”
“Gabriel Agreste. Don’t worry about him. He will face the consequences soon enough.” said Maria as she sipped her tea.
The Guardians don't say anything for a while until one of them breaks the silence, “So do you fully understand what it means to be ‘Marked’? It has been centuries since the last one. Rarely one who is apparently Tikki’s chosen.”
“I am aware of the responsibility that comes with it.” Maria replied and quietly added, “and what comes after.”
“It is unfortunate that it happened to you at such a young age.”
“I have accepted my fate and began the preparation for the next stage of my plan.”
The Guardians simply nodded and left her in peace, enjoying the snowy mountain view.
------
Gabriel came back from another long day at the company, filled with business meetings and day by day, it looks like the only option would be to declare bankruptcy but he wasn’t going down that easily.
“Emilie, I am home.”
He heard no replies. The house was empty as usual after the small number of staff had all gone home. But something didn’t feel right.
Something was missing. The lights weren’t strangely on. Perhaps his wife had turned in already for an early night.
Natalie as a raven flew down the stairs and perched herself on the lamp in the living room. She made noises and gestured frantically with her head for him to follow her.
Gabriel, fearing that the worst, that Emilie had fallen into another magical coma, followed the raven into his bedroom which was neat and tidy but no sign of his wife.
Upon opening the lights, he saw that a majority of her things were missing from the room. He opened the closet to see all of her clothes were gone. Her accessories and jewellery weren’t on the vanity table or in the drawers. He found a letter with his name written on the front in her neat penmanship.
The content inside made his stomach drop. It talked about how she knew about Hawkmoth and everything he had done. She was leaving him and taking Adrien with her. She asks him not to find her. She loves him but she cannot forgive him for what he had done.
He sat on the vanity chair, numb. Ever since Adrien was attacked in his room by Marinette, his control over the situation had gradually slipped from his fingers.
Now, Emilie, the love of his life, is gone once again. And this time she chose to do it, out of her own volition.
Doomsday, as he had begun calling the last day Marinette had promised would be his last, was approaching. Natalie’s transformation had lasted longer and longer. He had told himself as long as he still had his family. He will be able to get through this. Now, he was done for.
Natalie perched on the vanity mirror and croaked. Trying to convey comfort as best as she could in her condition. She saw something behind Gabriel that made her squawk in anger and take off towards it.
Gabriel turned around in time to see Marinette lift her hand and froze Natalie in place with magic.
She was dressed to the nines in a stunning red evening dress, her hair in an elegant up-do. Her face was covered by a beautiful mask. But it was still obvious that Ladybug had finally paid him a visit.
“YOU!” He hissed in anger.”You did this, didn’t you?” He said, pointing at the letter.
“Maybe I did. Maybe she found out all on her own. But I am not here to talk about her.” She smirked.
“Whatever it is you are going to do, it can’t be worse than this.”
“But it will be a fitting punishment for the selfish man who took my future away with his greed. I would like to show you a preview but I am late.” She said, as she opened a portal and stepped through it. Indistinct chatter could be heard.
“Oh, you might want to go watch Channel 4 in 5 minutes. That’s a surprise you cannot miss.” She said, right before the portal closed.
Gabriel did. In time to see the reveal of the person behind MT and CEO of Afterlife, who was one Maria Todd, wearing the same red dress he saw her in 5 minutes ago. She removed her mask.
“Miss MT, why did you hide your identity for so long and why reveal it now?”
“When I first started my company, I wanted my talent to speak for itself and not because I am a Wayne. The only thing Bruce helped with was giving me a loan so I can start Afterlife. I want to thank the employees at WE who knew my ‘secret identity’ and kept it a secret. The reason for revealing myself now is because, when Jason first found me, I was in a pretty bad place. Someone had made sure that I have no way of ever achieving my hopes and dreams. He essentially took my future away from me. I felt like I had died, literally. I named my company Afterlife, because it was the second chance I was given.” She looked straight into the camera, a smirk on her face.
“You know who you are and if you are watching this, I am back and the Day of Reckoning is upon you.”
The remote control slipped from his grip as he stared at the television. All this time she had been hiding and plotting with the resources of one of the most powerful families at her fingertips.
She can utterly destroy him at any time she wants and there was nowhere for him to run.
------
Marinette smiled as she leaned on Jason’s shoulder. He was always against going to Galas but for her MT reveal, he was willing to come to support her.
She looked around as her family wound down in the living room after an exhausting evening, rubbing elbows with the uptight Gotham elites.
“Whatcha thinking about, Pixie Pop?” Jason asked.
“Thinking about what his face would look like when he saw me on TV.”
“That man would probably be cowering. After all, you learned your imitation techniques from the master, me.” Damian said, smugly.
“But you got to give her some credit, Demon Spawn. She was imitating when she first came here. Speaking of which, isn’t it nearly five years since you met us?” Tim asked.
“Yeah. Wow. Time flies.” Maria stood up, grabbing everyone else’s attention.
She looked around at her enormous family, “Everyone, five years ago, I dug out of my grave, filled with so much anger at the world and you, my big brother, the one I always wished to have and have been there for me since that day, Jason Todd, kidnapped me into the family. And all of you made me realize that I don’t always have to go through everything alone. That it’s okay to ask for help when I need it.
Bruce, you have issues but despite everything, you tried to be the best dad you can be. Alfred, this family cannot function without you and the Greatest Grandfather anyone could ask for. Dick, you give the best hug and the heart and soul of our family. Babs, I am sorry for letting you up with them for so long on your own. Tim, the genius and my partner-in-crime, stayed up for 10 days straight while living off of coffee. Cass, my sister from another mother. Stephanie, the only person with the fashion sense in this house. Damian, you have grown on me and you are still a brat. Duke, you owe me ten bucks and the ‘light’ of our very dark lives. Selina, Harley, Pam and Kate, the best aunts in history and throw the best girl nights.”
“Whoa, Pixie, that almost sounds like a goodbye speech.” Jason said, “You leaving us soon?”
Even though he said it as a joke, Maria looked too serious.
“Maria?” Dick asked, “You know that you can tell us anything, right?”
“I would have to leave soon. After Gabriel gets what’s coming to him, I have to go.” she said in a soft voice.
“Go? Where do you go? Some magical temple where there are people like you?”
“I have to go back. I am not supposed to be here.”
“Wait, you are not talking about dying again, are you?”
“Is it dying if you are already dead and just living on borrowed time?”
“But- but what about the resurrection spell?”
“The spell...that part is true but some of the ingredients needed are rare or too difficult for me to obtain so I performed it with substitutes. At first, I thought that it had worked but it was only days after I came back that I found out why I was brought back. Tikki and Plagg told me that Adrien was the one who made the wish to bring his mother back. Gabriel thought that since Adrien ‘loved’ me, the wish would take me away in exchange for his mother. Only the universe didn’t like to be fooled. It had seen Gabriel and Adrien facing no repercussions for their actions in the future so I was brought back as its executioner. I carry out my revenge on them and continue living for a little while longer. The villains pay for their crimes. The universe is in balance again. It’s a win-win.”
“But you will die again.”
“I already told you I am just living on borrowed time. I know I should have been honest with you when I found out but I didn’t know you well back then as I do now. I was someone you needed to keep an eye on because I knew your identities. Then, I became part of your family. I had so much fun and so happy that I nearly forgot that this was just a temporary thing that at some point, I will have to leave. That's why I am coming clean right now.”
They didn’t take the news well. They knew death was on the cards when they signed up for the job but it was nearly always unexpected. This. This was new.
Suddenly there was a timer, ticking down until Maria, the one they had viewed as sister, friend, comrade-in-arms, partner-in-crime/ crime-fighting, daughter and grand-daughter leaves the world for good.
She had made them promise not to use the Lazarus Pits. With some reluctance from a few like Damian.
Jason argued for her to stop her revenge on Gabriel so she can continue living.
Maria argued back that the plans are already in motion, there is no stopping it and the universe brought her back here to bring suffering on Gabriel so who knows what it will do to her or to all the people she cared about if she disobeyed its commands.
Lots of heated words got exchanged and Jason left the Manor, leaving a crying Maria and dropped off the grid for a week.
He came back after going on some missions to blow off steam and talking to some people or other people talk to him or did some soul-searching about how life’s short and precious moments should be spent surrounded by loved ones or something equally poetic with moral lessons.
He appeared in front of her room in the Manor with her favourite snacks and the newly released UMS: 5 as a peace offering and the siblings made up. Both apologised for the terrible things they had said.

My Brother's Best Friend Is The One For Me
Wally West x Batsis!Reader One-Shot
Word Count: 3.6K Warnings: Explicit Language
Author's Note: Got to rereading my Batsis fics and came across the "What A Flashy Romance" and wanted to do another one with Wally because I love him. Enjoy! -Thorne
Being the middle child and also the only girl in the Batfamily meant two things:
1. She had four brothers that treated her like a porcelain doll, despite the fact that she could throw a punch at 336 PSI.
And
2. She followed an unspoken rule that Dick and Jason’s friends were off limits when it came to dating.
In all, neither of those things were major problems. She’d learned at a young age how to avoid Dick and Jason’s overbearing-protective-brother-modes, and Tim and Damian were younger, so she didn’t have to worry about them. The second one was also avoidable—most of her older brothers’ friends were the same, and she wasn’t around most of them to develop any feelings.
Well, there was Wally, but it was just a crush. A stupid, little school-girl crush—that she’d never really grown out of—that didn’t matter in the slightest. Except whenever Dick brought him over to the house and she had to pretend that sitting next to him didn’t make her heart race like she’d run a mile.
And the most annoying thing about the whole crush is that she couldn’t tell if Wally was ever interested in her or not. Most of Dick’s friends, Garth, Kyle, Roy, they treated her like a little sister—hell, they even said “Love you lil sis!” to her regularly. And yet, Wally didn’t. Now, there was the occasional head pat, but even that was an affectionate gesture that siblings and SO’s did all the time. It was infuriating, and so was Wally—but she was going to sort it all out the next time he came over because the worst thing he could say was “No”, and either she needed to hear that…or “Yes”.
***
Normal Sundays for the Wayne household usually meant Ultimate Waffle Breakfast and sitting on your ass all day until patrol—it was the one day of the week where they could do anything and nothing and didn’t have to stick to schedules. Everyone loved Sundays, especially (Y/N), because it meant that all of her family was home, even Jason (who tried to deny that he enjoyed coming home to hang out, but if that mile long grin was any help, he was lying). And while everyone was home, that usually meant that everybody’s friends were coming over too.
***
She swiped the syrup out of Jason’s hand when he swung it back around, grinning at him when he glared at her.
“I was gonna use that, (Y/N),” he griped, and she shrugged, uncapping the bottle.
She tipped it over and watched the syrup lazily pour out of the container onto her waffles.
“You were taking too long.” Her eyes twinkled with humor. “I guess you were as…slow as molasses.”
While most of the table groaned at her terrible joke, Dick snorted into his milk, causing it to splatter on his plate and across the table.
“Nice one,” he coughed, wiping his face and the dark oak surface.
(Y/N) bowed dramatically. “Well, I did learn from the best.” When Dick’s face lit up, she turned to Alfred and smiled. “Alfie, thank you for teaching me your ways.”
The old butler merely tipped his head, a hidden smile crossing his lips at the way the eldest son’s jaw went slack. She turned her attention to Bruce who was quietly chewing, eyes following along the research paper she’d asked him to check out.
“Dad, what’s on your agenda for today?”
He swallowed and flicked a line out with a red pen, etching his own comment in the margin. “Lucius has a few ideas about some new gadgets he wanted to run by me.” Another line went out. “I’ll call him after breakfast.” Bruce looked at her. “You?”
(Y/N) nodded at the paper in his hands, then slapped Jason’s who was reaching over to take a piece of bacon from her plate. “Waiting for you to finish tearing me a new one so I can redo the paper.” She cut into the waffle with the side of her fork. “Once I salvage what little scientific dignity you’ve left me with, I’ll probably laze around.”
“You mean what you do normally?” Bruce quipped, grinning when she glowered at him; his eyes went back to her paper. “You’re doing well so far.”
She huffed. “Tell that to every red line you’ve marked out in that paragraph.”
He flashed the paper. “I’m writing in the margins how to change it. This isn’t a dissertation, sweetheart. You’re allowed to make mistakes. We all do.”
(Y/N) grumbled as her cheeks warmed and she went back to her plate as the conversation flowed around her.
Most of it was the discussion of what everyone was planning on doing, Damian was going to play video games, Tim was going to join him (which she knew was going to be fun while the moment lasted until the petty sibling rivalry got in the way and their gaming dwindled into a physical fight that she and probably Dick were going to have to break up), Jason was going to use the workbench in the cave to upgrade some gear, and Dick apparently,
“Wally and Garth are gonna come over later and hang out.”
She paused, mid-stab of her fork and looked at up. “Wally’s coming over?”
He nodded. “And Garth. We were gonna go to the mall and get some new clothes.”
Jason snorted, laying an arm over the backs of Tim and (Y/N)’s chairs. “Spending money with daddy’s credit card, Dickie?”
Dick smirked. “Just like you.” Jason merely matched his grin, and while the entire table was cracking up at Bruce’s frown, (Y/N) was silent, heart beating faster at the thought of seeing Wally.
“(Y/N)?” She startled and looked up at Dick.
“Huh?”
“I asked if you were okay. You got quiet all of the sudden.”
She smiled and shook her head. “Yeah, just thought about all of the corrections I’m gonna have to do because somebody CAN’T STOP MARKING OUT MY PARAGRAPHS.” Bruce merely smiled and knocked out another line.
It was a lie. It was the biggest lie she’d told right next to the one she told when Bruce had asked her where she was on prom night her senior year a few years ago—she was totally not saving a different sector of the universe with Kyle Rayner, she was dancing with Sam Reilly all night—she strongly believed her dad knew the truth—Batman knew everything.
Bruce handed the paper back to her and she groaned as she scanned the red lines on every page. It was going to take her hours to go over this.
Jason leaned over and read the title, “Cellular Division and Mutation Under Extreme Elemental Circumstances…a composition by (Y/N) Wayne.” He cocked a dark brow. “Go big or go home, huh, baby girl?”
(Y/N) hummed. “Doctor Halberd wanted us to pick challenging topics for the research paper this term.” A crooked smile crossed her lips. “I’m nothing if not ambitious about proving I’m smarter than everyone else.”
“You need another source,” Bruce murmured, sipping the steaming black coffee. “One-fourteen is good, but I’d go for one-fifteen.”
She groaned and dropped her head. “Are you kidding me? I had enough trouble gathering that many.”
“Why don’t you use Barry?” Tim piped up, mouth full of whip cream and strawberries.
“Master Timothy, we do not talk with our mouth full,” Alfred admonished, and Tim blushed.
(Y/N)’s head shot up and she stared at her brother. “That’s actually a good idea. Speedsters would make for perfect references about cellular division.” An idea popped into her head and she glanced at Dick. “And since Wally is com—”
“Nope,” Dick interrupted, pointing at her. “Wally is coming over to hang out, not to be poked and prodded to finish a paper.”
She let out a whine and turned to Bruce. “Dad, tell Dick to let me at least talk to Wally about it.”
Bruce turned his attention onto Dick. “Let your sister talk to Wally about her paper.”
“Oh, come on,” he complained and (Y/N) stood from her seat, hurrying around the table to stand behind Dick’s seat.
She draped herself over his shoulders, tucking her chin in the crook of his neck. “I promise I won’t be annoying if you let me come with you. I’ll ask two questions every thirty minutes and I’ll go do shopping on my own, so I won’t be in the way.” (Y/N) craned her neck and pulled the most pitiful puppy eyes she could. “Please?”
Dick’s eyes darted to her face and then he looked away. Just one more push.
“Please frate?” she begged and when his eyes went wide from the usage of his native tongue, she knew she’d won him over.
He deflated and let out a sigh. “Fine,” he grumbled. “You can come with us.”
(Y/N) squealed and pressed a kiss to his cheekbone, as she grabbed the paper and hurried towards the door. She halted and spun around, looking at her father.
“What do I need to be most specific about?”
“Division under elemental circumstances.”
She glowered at him. “No shit Sherlock. Specifics.”
“Molecular division under terrestrial gamma-ray flashes.”
“That’ll work,” (Y/N) nodded and exited to room.
Jason looked out the door then back to his brothers. “She’s way to excited about science sometimes.” They merely laughed.
***
She raised the red lace, cold shoulder V-neck shirt to her chest before frowning, and switching it with the full lace blue shirt with mini golden lightning bolt charms hanging off the trim. After a moment, she pulled the blue one down and sighed.
“You know, if you want to impress him, I’d wear the red shirt.”
She jumped and barely managed to suppress the scream that was coming up in her throat as she swiveled around to face her door. Jason stood in the doorway, a knowing look on his face. She could play this one of two ways: she could be truthful, or she could lie—she chose the latter.
“What do you mean?” He snorted and walked into her room, taking a seat at her desk.
“I mean if you’re trying to impress Wally, wear the shirt that’s the color of his suit, (Y/N).” She looked away and into the mirror, but she couldn’t escape the eyes boring into her back.
“Is it that obvious?” she asked quietly, and he laughed.
“That you’re head over heels for Dick’s best friend? Oh yeah. Totally.”
She sighed and sat on her bed, pulling the red top over her torso. “It’s just a crush.”
“Seems like more than a crush to me, baby girl.”
(Y/N) pulled the fabric down and looked at him. “Are you gonna tell Dick?”
Jason scoffed. “Do I look like a narc to you?”
She cocked a brow and deadpanned, “Just the other night you told dad that Damian lifted Two-Face’s wallet when he was being put in a cruiser.”
“Well, that wasn’t something important,” he countered and nodded at her. “This is.” He paused and shrugged. “Nah, I’m not gonna tell Dickhead. Play this out however you see fit, baby girl.”
(Y/N) stared at him for a moment then averted her gaze and let out a sigh; Jason huffed.
“That sounds like a heavy sigh, (Y/N). What’s wrong?”
She shrugged. “I don’t even know if Wally would be interested in me. He’s him and I’m me.”
Jason stood and walked over, kneeling in front of her. “Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?”
(Y/N) met his eyes. “Anytime he’s had a girlfriend she’s always been super strong or really outspoken.”
“And you’re not?” he quipped, causing her to huff.
“You know what I mean, Jay.”
He nodded. “Okay, so you’re not an Amazon or shoving your head up someone’s ass for a story. But you’re you.”
“And that means?”
“You’re the only daughter of the World’s Greatest Detective who’s a wicked smart science major by day and a badass vigilante by night.” He cupped her cheeks. “You are intelligent, warmhearted, talented, and absolutely beautiful.” Jason smushed her cheeks together and grinned as she giggled. “And if Wally doesn’t see any of what I just said, then he’s a damn fool and not worth your time. You hear me, baby girl?”
She nodded. “I hear you.”
Jason gave her a firm nod and let go, standing to his feet. “Now come on let’s go do your makeup.”
(Y/N) blinked. “You can do makeup?”
“Baby girl, I can do a lot of things. Now hurry up. That razor sharp eye liner and golden eyeshadow isn’t going to do itself.”
***
She waited beside Dick with a pleasant smile on her face, and despite the fluttering heartbeat in her chest, Jason’s pep talk kept running through her head and with every passing moment, she felt her confidence rising. He was right, if she told Wally and he didn’t feel the same, then it was his loss and her gain to move on and find someone else.
A black sedan pulled up at the manor and the passenger window rolled down, revealing Wally at the wheel and Garth in the passenger’s seat. Dick waved at them.
“Hey guys,” he greeted. “How was the drive over?”
“Oh, you know, we saw three carjacking’s and one armed robbery,” Garth quipped. “I assume that’s normal for Gotham though.”
“It’s a bit below average actually,” (Y/N) piped up. “Hi Garth. Hi Wally.”
Wally smiled and Garth waved in return as the two siblings started getting in the car.
“You’re coming with us, (Y/N)?” Wally questioned and she nodded.
“Do you want me to lie to you or give you the truth?”
He chuckled. “I’m always open for a good story.”
“I wanted to buy out Victoria’s Secret and piss off any boyfriends who are in hot water with their girlfriends.” The guys laughed and she admitted, “Truth though, I need one last source for a research paper.”
“Gonna find that source shopping?” Garth asked and (Y/N) caught Wally’s eyes in the rear-view mirror.
“Actually, my last source is Wally.”
They fell silent and looked at her, though the speedster’s focus was on the road.
“What are you gonna source Wally on?” The Atlantean inquired.
“My paper is over cellular mutation under distress from elemental conditions.” She smiled at Wally. “Our speedster here, is a walking subject perfect for the paper. I can only hope that he agrees to be a willing participant.”
Wally chuckled. “I’d be willing to part with a few secrets for you. Of course, I’d have to—”
“Remain anonymous.” (Y/N) winked. “I’m sure my professor would be okay with me citing ‘The Flash’ so long as I had a picture with him to back it up.”
“I like pictures,” he murmured, pulling into the parking lot.
“That’s good to know,” she replied and when he put the car in park, she took her purse and added, “So I’ll leave you boys to do your shopping and Wally, I’ll text you any questions I have.”
“You’re not gonna hang around?” Garth asked and she shook her head.
“Nah, I don’t wanna be the annoying little sister who follows her older brother and his friends around.” She smiled at them. “Besides, Dick was kind enough to let me come along. Least I can do is stay out of your way.”
(Y/N) opened the door and waved at them. “Text me when you’re ready to leave and I’ll meet you back here.”
***
Despite the initial joke that she was going to buy out the lingerie store, there was actually some truth in the statement, and she drew her fingers over one of the lace baby dolls as she looked at her phone, grinning like a dope at Wally’s response.
Well, I wouldn’t say I’d grow a second skin from how fast my cells regenerate, but I can make my body heal instantaneously. -W
Can you regenerate limbs or major organs? –(Y/I)
Major organs or useful ones? -W
(Y/N) paused at his response and thought for a moment. It was risky. Sending the text, she was thinking about was risky, but it’d sure get her point across that she was into him. With her heart hammering in her chest, she pushed send and stuck her phone in her pocket.
Whichever ones are useful to you, Wally? ;) –(Y/N)
Her phone didn’t buzz for a good minute, and Wally took less than a second to reply, so he was doing one of two things: A.) Telling Dick that his younger sister sent a flirty text, or B.) Trying to figure out how to let her down easy. (Y/N) didn’t know which one was worse. Her hip buzzed and she inhaled shakily, pulling her phone out of her pocket with one eye cracked open to see how screwed she was.
Do you have a useful one in mind, beautiful? -W
She had to clamp a hand over her mouth to keep from letting out the biggest gasp any human had ever made, and she nervously looked around her to make sure no one else was staring at her. She grinned as she replied to him.
Oh, I could think of one…or two or three…Why? Is there gonna be a pop quiz over this later? I’ll have you know I’m an excellent test taker. –(Y/N)
Is that so? Well, what happens if you were to fail this particular pop quiz, (Y/N)? -W
I guess you’d have to stay the night for a study session and help me make a better grade ;) –(Y/I)
As she waited for another response, someone’s hand touched the small of her back and she reacted, immediately stepping away from the offending touch to spin on them. Her eyes went wide when she saw Wally standing before her, a grin on his face, phone in his hand.
“I think an overnight study session is possible, (Y/N).”
Her mouth opened and closed repeatedly, like a fish until she finally got her brain to work and asked, “I thought you were shopping with Dick and Garth?”
He shrugged. “Told Dick you asked me an advanced question that’d be easier to answer in person than over text.” He wiggled his brows. “You know, advanced equations and scientific gibberish.”
(Y/N) huffed a laugh and turned back around, trying to ignore the heat in her cheeks as she picked up one of the teddies. And when she realized what it looked like, she only felt more flustered. Crimson with baby blue trimming and was practically a shoelace.
“Well, that’sa hint if there ever was one,” Wally quipped, and she pulled the lingerie out of his line of sight.
“It was just the first one I grabbed!” she exclaimed, snapping her mouth shut when people looked over at them. Her cheeks felt like they were wildfires, and she pressed her head against the cool metal of the rack, sighing with what little relief it provided.
“You know, (Y/N),” he started softly. “If you’re not comfortable, this doesn’t have to go anywhere. I can forget this ever happened if you want me to.” (Y/N) opened her eyes and peered at him, at the concern but also the kindness in his gaze.
“I just—” she murmured and trailed off before letting out a sigh. “It’s kinda complicated.”
“Okay,” Wally nodded. “My mouth might work faster than my brain sometimes but lay it on me.”
She cracked a smile and thought back on Jason’s words. If Wally doesn’t see any of what I just said, then he’s a damn fool and not worth your time.
(Y/N) took a deep breath and looked at him, admitting, “Wally, I have…feelings for you.” His eyes widened and though she felt the sting of embarrassment, she pushed out her words. “It’s stupid, like one of those dumb childhood crushes that just sticks with you, you know?”
She averted her gaze and looked at her peep toe heels. “I just don’t wanna screw anything up because even if you don’t feel anything like I do, I don’t wanna lose you as a friend. Because I do value your friendship.” She sighed. “And Dick. I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable about coming over to see him if there’s a chance you’ll have to see me too. I just—”
“Woah, woah, woah,” Wally interrupted gently, a smile growing on his face. “You’re thinking way big here, (Y/N). Bigger than you need to right now.”
She met his eyes. “Right now?” she repeated, and he reached out, taking her hand in his. His fingers felt tingly against her palm and he smiled.
“I like you, (Y/N).”
She blinked at him, practically dumbfounded. “You…you do?”
Wally nodded and confessed, “Have for a couple years, but I didn’t wanna make a move not knowing if you were interested.” His cheeks tinged pink, and he said, “But I’m glad you are. Like super glad.” (Y/N) giggled, suddenly feeling really foolish for all her worry and Wally let out a chuckle too.
She stared at him for a moment, relishing the coolness of his skin before pulling away, toying with the teddy in her other hand.
“So, about tonight…you staying over?”
Wally let out a groan and looked between her and the lingerie. “Probably, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get away long enough to spend some time alone with you.”
(Y/N) let out a ‘pfft’ and winked. “I’m sure you’ll figure it out, Flash. You are the fastest man alive.”
“You’re into quickies? Good to know,” he grinned.
“Shut up,” she giggled.

How would yandere Damian Wayne react to his beloved having a fondness for books? Will he get jealous that she keeps gushing about non existent fictional characters? Lol I have a feeling he will 🤣
I absolutely love this idea, it was fun to write.
Trigger Warning: Abuse
(Not on Damians end but Y/N’s father)
Nothing descriptive and very brief.
~*~
Damian had met his beloved at school after she was the only one who didn’t chase after him. She didn’t even seem to notice he was there. He was determined to change that.
The first day they talked he introduced himself, waiting to see her reaction to his last name but gained nothing more than a polite introduction from herself than she returned back to the book she was reading before he interrupted her. If she hadn’t got immersed back into the book than she would have seen the surprised look adorning the young Wayne’s face.
From there on he was determined to know everything about her. He used the bat computer to find out that she lived with her father in a nice house near his own. Her mother died during child birth and she had no siblings. Damian wished he didn’t have ‘siblings’ even if he never called them that. Well... maybe Grayson. But Todd could go along with Drake.
He decided to go to her house to check in on her and his excuse was to gather intel, but what he saw was not what he was prepared for. Damian saw Y/N’s Father yelling at her as if she had nine something terrible. Damian watched as the man cursed out his young daughter making Damian scowl and tighten his hands into fists. But they suddenly stopped fighting so Damian left as he had school tomorrow and he wanted to talk to you then. If he had stayed a second longer he’d have seen her getting locked into the cupboard under the stairs without dinner.
But luckily for her she had books. She read hunger games, Harry Potter, and many more. Even twilight even though she absolutely despised the ‘Bella’ character. But they all had love. She loved to read about love and the feeling of euphoria it gave people.
“Maybe one day.” She thought to herself.
The next day Damian Wayne talked to her again. He made more progress but it was hard to keep her away from her book.
It continued for weeks and then to months. He had slowly broke down her barrier and she finally stopped ditching him to read a book.
After 3 months of talking and Damian following her around daily to make sure she was safe he finally asked her on a date.
She met him at the park during sundown. When she arrived there was a picnic blanket with a basket on it and a couple of cushions. She saw someone walk up to her from where they were sat by a tree and they gently grabbed her hand and led her to the set up.
“Do you like it?” Damian asked nervously. He knew that this date was what determined his future plans. She was his beloved even if she didn’t exactly know yet. If she didn’t like the date or found out she didn’t like him the same way he loved her than she would learn to with force and time or she could love the date and he will spend every moment of the day with her after he asks her to be his.
She smiled widely, liked it? She loved it! It was exactly like something out of a book. A grand romantic gesture.
He smirked at her smile and he just knew he was already successful in gaining her feelings. He noticed the shiny glint in her eyes.
“I love it Damian. Thank you.” She spoke smiled at him and leaned over to give him a hug making his heart spike with happiness.
They had a wonderful date and it resulted with a 2nd and 3rd one. Then he dropped the question and she couldn’t bring herself to say anything but yes.
Even as she noticed that some of the few friends she had distanced themselves from her after she agreed to be Damians girlfriend after the 3rd date.
Even when some of her romance books began to disappear, which is what really made her sad. Once she told Damian with tears in her eyes that a. Few of her books were missing he gave in and hid them in her room for her to find the next day.
That’s when something happens. Y/N’s father was killed in a police shooting after he had assisted the Joker himself on a robbery. Worst part was Y/N found out over the news.
Damian was very happy with the news of the death fo his beloveds dad. He found out about the abuse after he snuck in to her house the second time and heard a lock click with no Y/N in sight.
Damian told his father about the girl and Damian played his fathers weaknesses against him he told him that she was abused and that she needed help. She needed to be safe. That thing that convinced him finally was that Damian told Bruce that she was the one and Bruce’s eyes widened greatly before he moved into a smirk. Of course his son had found his beloved, Bruce was a Yandere too of course, where else would Damian have got the tendencies from? His mother Talia or his grandfather Ra’s? They both would be caught dead saying the four letter word.
That’s how Y/N was adopted by the Wayne’s.
That’s how she ended up staying in the room next to Damians.
That’s how she ended up being with him 24 hours a day, since he got his classes switched so he was in all of hers but when it was questioned it was for academic reasons.
Y/N was sad though. She had no friends other than Damian. Her father was dead, her mother was dead, she had no family. No matter how bad her father treated her all she could think was that she deserved the pain.
A month after the shooting Damians Yandere side began to progress. She wasn’t allowed out of the Manor without being accompanied by him if she was allowed to leave at all.
She had been taken out of school alongside Damian by Bruce at the request of his son who didn’t like that boys and girls were looking at his beautiful beloved.
He was obsessed with his love.
A few months after living in the manor, meeting everyone, and adjusting to Damians possessiveness and rules she was doing okay. She wouldn’t dare go against Damian after he had guilt tripped her after she said she wanted to be alone for awhile and take a walk. Damian was glad that she was so easily manipulated that she didn’t even attempt to fight his love. He had to protect her form the cruel world he had experienced first hand. Her kindness, innocence, and trusting nature would get her killed in Gotham. But there was nothing to worry about because he was there to protect her. He always would be.
But she grew slightly distant from Damian after she began reading the books in the Wayne Library. There was a whole room stocked shelf by shelf with books.
She had been in there reading a book where the main character was trained with a sword and was a Assassin but he fell in love with his target. That’s where Damian saw her after he had been searching for after he began to getting annoyed after being away from her for so long.
“What are you reading My Beloved?” She had gotten used to the nickname and would slightly blush at every use of it. It was another thing that seemed like it was straight out of a book, he was her knight in shining armor.
“It’s called His Mission, His Love. It’s about this dashing guy who can sword fight and is a very skilled Assassin. He falls in love with the girl he was supposed to assassinate for his group of assassins. But he failed it by falling in love. I haven’t found out what happens yet. He sort of reminds me of Finnick from that other book I told you about, Hunger games remember? Well he wields a trident and it looks super cool and...” she was cut off from Damian snatching the book from her hands and shutting it without even marking her page making her lose her page.
“Hey!” She cried out as he tossed the book across the room. He scowled when she yelled at him which result in him standing directly in front of her as she sat on the couch and he leaned down to her height the grabbed her chin making her face towards him instead of that insufferable book he had tossed across the room.
“You don’t need that book got it? You have me, and you only need me.” He spoke looking into her eyes as his face was only inches apart from her own.
“But...” she began to say. She loved books, it was nice to image the love. But she couldn’t exactly say she didn’t know the feeling for herself now after dating Damian. He had done so much for her to keep her safe and well after he father died.
“I can sword fight, I’m a assassin, I am even more handsome and richer than any character in those terribly pointless books. You don’t need them when you have me.”
She looked at him weirdly and that’s when he realized that in a fit of jealousy - over a book character- he admitted by secret he hadn’t told her yet.
“Assassin? Fighting? What are you taking about Damian.”
He rolled his eyes at her but explained.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m Robin. My fathers batman, Graysons Nightwing, Todd is Red Hood, and Drake is Red Robin.” He watched as her eyes widened making him begin to lose himself in the beautiful eyes he loved so dearly.
“Really?” She said in disbelief but it did make sense. But that’s when she suddenly blushed at a thought and by the fact it took her so long to blush Damian was thinking that she was thinking back to her book character again as her eyes darted away from him coincidentally to where the book was.
“What are you thinking about My Beloved?” he demanded in a cool tone that was laced with jealously. He grip on her chin tighten a little more and his other hand laid on her waist.
She murmured something he couldn’t hear which was very surprising as he was so close to her.
“Repeat what you said but louder. Please” he spoke waiting for her to say she was thinkjnt about the assassin from her book but he wasn’t prepared for what she would say.
“I used to have a crush on Robin, he is my favorite.” She spoke then closed her eyes willing the blush that adorned her cheeks to disappear.
This would be the first time that Damian let out a huge smile and a slight laugh of disbelief.
“I pictured him... or well you as the character from my book because of the similarities.” She spoke still lightly dying from embarrassment which worsened when he scooped her up from the couch and into his arms before kissing her face multiple times while she laughed at the feeling. Then he sat down o the couch with her in his lap, not letting go as she tried to climb out of it.
“Stay here My Beloved. Why don’t I tell you real stories?”
And that was how Damian got jealous... over himself.
And how Y/N found out the identity’s of the Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, and most of all Robin.
And it all started because of a book.

so i’m trying to write duke and i don’t think i’m writing him right. how would you describe his personality because with don’t trust fanon lmfaooo
(this was only supposed to be a paragraph or two i swear to god)
1. first things first, duke is a hardcore gryffindor. don’t let the yellow color scheme mislead you, okay. and while most of the time he’s depicted in fanon as “omg this family is crazy and i’m the only sane one,” it’s actually pretty much the opposite? if anything, i think the other batkids would be like “oh finally, someone who can match our level of chaotic energy. HEY DUKE WANNA BUNGEE JUMP OFF WAYNE TOWER—” and an hour later they’d all be in the batcave getting lectured by bruce for leading poor sweet innocent duke astray when really he was already planning on doing that this weekend.
listen, this is the kid who once jumped off a bridge to escape police. this is the dude who decided to fight criminals while they’re still eating their wheaties at 6am in a bright yellow suit. and while duke seems to be the best at following bruce’s command at the moment due to having been trained by him most recently compared to the others and is still figuring out how to be a hero, i’m positive that if bruce weren’t here to guide him, duke would be running around gotham taking down criminals anyway. i mean, he literally did do that with the “we are robin” kids. plus there was the whole thing when he was like ten years old and decided “i am going to singlehandedly stop the riddler in my light up sketchers and pikachu backpack. try and stop me.”
duke is headstrong and has a strong drive toward heroism. he’s an extremely enthusiastic and passionate person in general, and i try to capture a little of that when i write him, even with mundane things like trying to beat his siblings to the last cupcake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. another thing i noticed is that duke swears like a sailor in comics? seriously, this boy could give jason a run for his money with how many “@#!%” speech bubbles there are. i don’t know if this is just a trend the writers added in the comics i’ve read of him, or if it’s a genuine trait throughout every comic he’s in, but that’s something to make note of when writing dialogue for duke. after all, he did grow up in the narrows, so it makes sense that he’d use a lot of swearing and slang in his everyday vernacular.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. i would also make a point of noting that duke is fairly young compared to the rest of the batfamily, being the second youngest after damian. duke is still a teenager in high school, and he acts like it. he’s got homework and friends and is eager to make a difference in gotham, trying to juggle everything and make it all work somehow. he’s stubborn and doesn’t give up easily, so it’s important to write him as someone who is trying to save the world while also struggling with finding time to study for his next math test. he's human. he doesn’t get to dedicate all of his time to fighting crime like cass or jason might be able to, since duke is still a mostly normal teenager with teenager problems.
Tumblr media
4. and don’t forget that unlike the other batkids, duke still has two living parents. sure, they’re jokerized and might not ever be the same again, but they’re alive and that’s what holds him back from letting himself get as close to the waynes as he wants to. duke won’t be calling bruce “dad” anytime soon, and i think he’d have some internal struggle over stuff like holidays and birthdays with the waynes, remembering what his parents are missing out on and wondering if joining the wayne family is a betrayal to them. duke is very conflicted over this, even if he doesn’t say it directly. stuff like ducking out of movie night early or feeling a bittersweet pang during thanksgiving dinner makes sense for someone in his situation.
(i usually ignore that aspect in my fics because i want duke to just be adopted and part of the family already, but not everyone does that, and that’s perfectly fine.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. honestly, duke is such a caring individual and we as a fandom need more of him being a shoulder for people to lean on because he’s?? so soft?? duke can be so sympathetic and rational when it comes to emotional problems. it seems like duke internalizes every bit of advice he gets from the people around him and uses it to inspire others and help them through their own problems. as tough and hotheaded as duke can sometimes be, he really is good when it comes to emotions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. duke is a smartass. he will 100% use sarcasm against any and every authority figure he meets, usually just for the hell of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. he’s very frank in general, usually the first to be like “okay full disclosure, we’re about to die right now. that sucks. anyway—” in a situation. he’s honest and tends to be upfront about his fears/anxieties, usually for comic relief, but i think it still counts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. okay i have to add that duke is also kind of a punk? he and jason have a lot in common because of this: they both grew up in one of gotham’s worse areas (jay in crime alley and duke in the narrows) and they’re both highkey deliquents. duke has no problem getting into fights or talking back to authority figures, and it’s gotten him in hot water on more than one occasion. it’s why he kept getting moved around the foster system before bruce took him in because no one wanted to keep him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. he’s also gotten so close with the other batkids and we love to see it!! duke calls cass “sis” and treats damian like the annoying little brother he never had and i adore every second of it. we haven’t gotten a lot of interactions between duke and the others aside from training and stuff, but he and jason have the whole “punk kid who got adopted by batman and is baffled by how rich people live” going for them, so they can bond over that. and duke is a thinker like tim, so they can hang out and do puzzles or play chess or whatever it is that smart people do. (and duke and steph are BESTIES i don’t care what anyone says.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10. most of all, duke is still learning how the whole hero thing works. he’s young and he’s trying his best, but he also makes mistakes. he will be impulsive and screw up, and he’ll try and merge the lessons batman’s taught him and that his parents taught him and that other heroes teach him until it all makes sense in his own mind. duke isn’t experienced like dick or even damian, so he’s going to be lagging behind for a while until he grows until the role he’s made for himself.
Tumblr media
other miscellaneous details to include:
- duke is dating izzy, who used to be part of the “we are robin” gang with him - he used to live at the manor and now lives with his cousin jay, but honestly i just have him living at the manor in everything i write because i like it better that way - he can control shadows and light now! what a king! - duke secretly writes poetry and is good at creative writing in general  - this:
Tumblr media
- duke is super smart?? he figured out that agent 37 was dick grayson without even trying?? i’m so proud of him - his biological father is this supervillain called gnomon so now duke has got four parents: his mom, his dad, his supervillain dad, and bruce (plus selina if you count her as the batkids’ stepmom, which i do) - jason calls him “narrows” and i love that
- and, lastly, the most important panel in the history of comics:

A little bird and his prey Chapter 2
“What do you mean Menagerie turned into a cloud?” Tim asks dumbly as Damian tells them about what happened in the warehouse.
Tim clearly hasn't had enough caffeine or sleep to be functioning. It was a miracle that Alfred hasn't sent him to bed yet.
Damian still gave him an annoyed look. Not caring how tired he was. If Tim was going to make him repeat the information then he gets to be a bit petty and say it in short 'can you understand me?' talk.
“Menagerie was trapped. She had plugged something into the computer. It beeped. Menagerie turned into a cloud. Grabbed the beeping thing. Flew outside the windows. Locked them all. Then flew away.” Damian repeated, clearly talking down to Tim, which earned Damian a glare from the offended vigilante.
“She just keeps getting weirder and weirder,” Tim claimed, rolling his eyes at Damian’s antics before taking another sip of his coffee.
“Ok… So her costume looked like some kind of dragon this time… And she could turn into a cloud… Anything else?” Barbara said as she typed in the information into Menagerie’s growing file.
“Menagerie used blades this time instead of her boomerang weapon from our last encounter,” Damian informs her, Barbara quickly adding the new weapon to Menagerie’s arsenal.
“Huh. Why’d we give the meta or magic-using, always changing, weapon master villain to Demon Spawn?” Jason questioned as he read over Menagerie’s file of the information they had been able to gather in the last five years.
Jason's question as to why Damian was the one in charge of Menagerie’s case was left unanswered in favor of reviewing the file for what must have been the millionth time.
“She’s been a mouse with a whip, a horse with a boomerang weapon, a black cat with a staff, a bee with poison darts, a dog with batons, peacock with war fans, and now a dragon with a blade. How many more animal-themed costumes do you think she has?” Stephanie asked no one in particular.
"How many more weapons does she know how to use?" Jason counters, earning him a thought full look from Stephanie, as if to say 'fair point'.
The room was silent in thought. If Menagerie hasn't shown them all the weapons she knows how to use and she's been in Gotham for five years, that was a bit worrying.
The silence was broken, surprisingly, by Cass.
“Matching,” Cass says, pointing to the blurry picture of the dog costume.
The other bats looked at the dog costume trying to see what Cass sees but weren't having any luck.
“What's matching?” Bruce asked his daughter.
Cass pointed to Menagerie in her dog costume again. “Dog.” She then pointed to the batons, “Stick".
Selina was the first to catch onto Cass’s observation. “Bird and feather, bees and stinger.”
Cass nodded her head to Selina’s words.
“Match,” Cass said again.
“Menagerie matches her weapon to her costume theme," Barbara says as she typed that information into her file.
"When she uses a costume and its weapon Menagerie never has any of her other weapons with her. Why?" Tim asked a bit more awake after chugging his caffeinated beverage.
"More importantly, does she have different meta or magic abilities based on each animal?” Dick questions, Barbara making a note with his questions.
“Next time you run into one of our magic users, ask them about Menagerie. She’s a magic-user after all, so they're bound to have heard something.” Barbara says before calling it a night. Waving everyone upstairs.
All of the bat family present moved from the cave to the kitchen, Alfred handing them snacks and beverages.
“What’s the real reason so many of you are home?” Damian finally asked, knowing that while the bored excuse could have worked for Dick, it didn’t excuse the rest of his siblings randomly coming home all at once.
The Waynes shared a few glances at each other.
“You do realize Halloween is coming up soon, right, Demon spawn?” Jason questioned with an amused tone.
Damian blinked a few times, realizing his stupidity.
“Nope. I forgot.” Damian claimed, before letting out an annoyed huff, having just remembered something else. “That means Menagerie’s off the grid till after January.”
“I, for one, am glad she disappears before Halloween. We don’t need another rouge running the streets causing more work for us.” Stephanie claimed, swinging her legs back and forth from her place on the kitchen island.
“Do you think Menagerie goes home for the holidays and that’s why she disappears?” Dick questions before taking another bite of his cookie.
“It’s possible? Menagerie isn’t insane like some of the other rouges, so the probability of her taking time off to hang out with friends and family for the holidays is relatively high.” Barbara claims not looking up from her computer.
The Waynes continue to talk about Menagerie for a bit before switching to Halloween plans and tactics. They talked about who’s patrolling what area, who’s teaming up with who, and what heroes or vigilantes are coming to help.
The planning only lasted so long and soon the Waynes were joking around and poking fun at each other.
At some point, Cass went stiff, looking out the windows as if looking for something.
“Something wrong Cassandra?” Bruce asked looking out the window to try and find what was causing his daughter’s stress.
“Being…Watched?” Cass signed a bit confused.
Shortly after Cass signed that everyone seemed to whip their head in the same direction to look at the moving shadow figure.
They let out a collective sigh when they saw that it was just a fox.
It was weird to see a fox this close to the manor, but they let it be since it is only looking at them. It was almost as if they were entertainment to the little fox.
The fox has bright blue eyes with a black coat. The coat seemed to shine blue when the kitchen lights hit its fur.
This started a new round of joking and teasing about how even the foxes at Wayne manor have the 'Wayne features'.
Alfred came back into the kitchen and shooed the Waynes off to bed.
He stopped to look at the fox.
Alfred let out an exasperated sigh.
He grabbed a few cookies placing them in a bag.
Alfred offered the bag to the fox, having remembered the fox miracle likes sweet treats.
The fox took the cookies after giving Alfred a small bow.

Do you have any headcanons about the insecurities fic you wrote about? I can't help but headcanon a lot, like:
both Harley & Ivy enjoys watching reader finishing her food, they also call her their mom since reader has been making them food since their first meet (Harley loves her egg sandwich, while Ivy was the baked potatoes bread)
Alfred always bakes matcha swiss roll with red bean paste or pastries that's easy too shallow with reader (so that she could shallow without feeling like choking and needs to drink a lot of water) whenever she stops by and keeps giving him hugs which he gladly return it everytime, the Alferd&Y/N's hug, is what everyone comments it
Dicks showing pictures he took of seven years old (a journey of Y/N's growing he calls) and then reader to all his teammates and the league as soon as he learnt the engagement's finally announce 'Look at this! Can't you imagine?! She's my little sister! This is when she seven years old! It's very heartwarming right blah blah blah... " and that's how the other superheros and older Teen Titans and Barbara knows how much Dick adore his future little sister-in-law who's s cinnamon roll
Sassy and baddass way to talk for so people won't dare mess up with her confidence (Jason help her built up, after he met her and quick into adoption of her, siblings!) Not that he would ever admit, Jason will sent glares to whoever who diss Y/N's like to children picture books (for example, The Guardians of Childhood aka inspiration of Rise of the Guardians movie) come on, his little sister had great taste in books!
Tim forbid her drinking coffee when they first met and even after (since he nearly caused a seven-years-old gone missing in the manor after the reader can't fall asleep decided to have a exploration situation) but will make it for her sometimes later after she used to it, made account for art websites she wants to register that so she can admire arts but underage back when childhoods, so he used it under his own only name (defiantly annoymus, and no, it's not illegal website) and every then and how
Makeover and dress-up with Barbara, Stephanie and Cassandra after they learnt of her (which they give Damian few lessons of 'how to treat the girl you like' with Dick who's extremely enjoy it, Jason and Tim who's enjoy the show all day), in the end, all heads to movie since it's sister bond time and apparently, the ideas of XL caramel popcorns and coke are the best choice!
Bruce pat or ruffle her hair softly everytime they met, a habit since the day he had ten years ago when she's seven, a touch of 'my daughter is growing up' feel will seldom appears in his heart
Damian from straightly ingored to slowly falls in love with reader after everytime he saw her sincere smile whenever she enjoyed Alfred's food heartily (like this, but a more faintly heartwarming one haha, at the very last pic, not sure if you could see it, so here's another link you could try out☺☺ )
Innocent, 'naive girl playing tough' charm whenever she and Damian together alone (first kiss, cuddling, hair massaging, teasing, which he finds not annoying because it's how really she is, and he enjoys keep on trailing and turn on her wildness)
How reader slowly felt left out though it didn't really occur me, just the thought of Batfam night activity and how we're isolating from each other slowly and inoccasionally when growing up just made me feel that way, you know, the feelings of it's not the same like it used to anymore😞😞
And once again, thank you so much for accepting my request at the beginning, I've been having this thought in my mind but I just couldn't write it, I'm so glad you accepted it and it's totally the way I want☺☺ (And about part 2 Talia which you accepted it too, I hope my words didn't scare you out lol... I'm too exciting that day...) Hope you have a very good day ahead, author!
Tumblr really needs to let me know when I have something in my inbox, I swear.
Of course! I loved writing it, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. No, your words didn’t scare me lol, I’m just outlining part 2 and I hope you love it just as much. With that said, and you don’t mind the wait, send in your ideas! I love reading them.
Okay, onto the headcanons! I love these! I put mine under the readmore, there's a bit;
Y/N didn’t have the best home life. Like I’m not saying abusive, just her parents neglected her a little. And it didn’t help that her whole life was planned for. So when she met Harley and Ivy, they basically went, you’re mine now no take backsies. And y/n just rolls with it, because through them, she finds out what it feels to be loved by someone who cares about you. This of course, she keeps from her parents and the day she turned eighteen, she moved out and it was a lot easier to hang out with those two.
Ever since knowing Harley and Ivy, y/n’s been slowly getting out of her shell. When she starts to hang out with Jason, she becomes more confident. She has Jason wrapped around her finger without even knowing
The girls love her, everyone loves her and Damian’s just, why
She loves cooking, and she even swaps recipes with Alfred. (even from the beginning of the whole arrangement) she became fast friends with Alfred first before everyone else.
y/n has known Damian since his first day of school. But I’m not going to lie, y/n was kind of scared Damian.
She got so offended when Tim took away her coffee when she wanted to try it. And when she became a regular coffee drinker, they would talk about different coffees they had tried and compare notes.
When the arranged marriage was first brought up in conversation, there was a lot of protests. Especially from Dick and Damian, but Bruce just shrugged saying that it was a good match. And if they don’t get married in the end, than that’s fine. Everyone was very confused but stopped bringing it up
They have theories though about the whole thing, the most popular one in the manor is that Bruce is looking for the next Robin when Damian hangs up the Robin cape to be someone else
When Bruce announced that, everyone did their own research about y/n. Everyone but Damian agreed but she must be protected, though it kind of blows up when they kind of cast her aside when she started hanging out with them at the manor, (but that’s not until later)
She and Damian have lunch together everyday at school, much to Damian’s displeasure. And he’s mean to her at the beginning, ignoring her and whatnot. She doesn’t do anything cuz she hates this setup just as much
But slowly, she starts to catch feels but keeps it to herself.
As you said, Damian takes longer to fall in love with her. And its one of those moments when she looks at peace within his family and it just hits him like ‘oh. Oh no I’m in love and I can’t tell anyone this’ and he doesn’t. So up until they confess to each other, their just pinning after each other and people who aren’t family sees that their in love but no know says anything
However, they do get more cuddly when they’re alone. Like, they don’t kiss or anything. But when they have movie nights, y/n’s curled up on the end of the couch with Damian’s head on her lap. And she’s always plays with his hair, of runs her fingers through it and Damian has discovered that it feels nice and helps him to de-stress
She knows when he’s stressed about something, so her just pats her lap and he grumbles about it but is secretly happy (they have been caught on multiple occasions by his brothers and they chooses to ignore them
She’s been so use to feeling alone, that being with people who care feels foreign to her
When she starts to feel like she’s alone again, she doesn’t see it until it’s too late
It starts off slowly, the fam is to busy with missions and saving the world that they kind of forget they she doesn’t know, and when she comes over, their not there or just brushes her off when she is. And she’s tried to talk to them, cuz she’s spend years being a part of their family but then one day it stopped.
But they just brush her off and she’s reminded about her parents so she stops pushing and then altogether stops going to the manor.
No one really realizes at first, only Alfred, and when they do, y/n had already broken off the engagement.

Would you be interested in writing this Jaytemis idea? One where they come back from a mission, tired and dirty and just want to sleep for a week and are surprised by Damian who just found out they are dating and is suddenly overprotective over his older brother. And he just marches up to Artemis and warns her that if she doesn't treat Jason right he will execute her assassin style. Jay and Artemis find it cute and in the end all three end up sleeping together. 👉👈
You'd think the number of drug dealers would decrease if you filled entire prisons with them, Jason thought as he and Artemis got off his bike, tired, covered in dust and with a burning desire to take a shower. Artemis put Mistress on her back and yawned as they entered the safehouse.
"I need a shower," said Jason tiredly. "Before you run away because my stink is frying your nose."
"It would be improper from me. Besides, the love of an Amazons is much stronger than your stink."
"It was just a joke, Ar," Jason smirked.
"I know." Artemis winked at him. "But you have a point. I'm not going to kiss you until you shower."
"Are you coming with me?"
She accepted with a playful smile. Then, when they were clean and happier, they both put on their pajamas, determined that not even an invasion from Apokolips could deprive them of the six hours of rest they needed. Artemis's pajamas included an old t-shirt that read 'I survived Parker Lyle's show'. Jason really wanted to ask her about it one day.
Neither of them expected to find a small version of Bruce standing in front of them in his bedroom when Jason opened the door, glaring at them with angry green eyes. Jason let out a 'fuck'. "Again? Seriously, Damian, just stop messing around and ask me for a key. And call before you show up out of nowhere or you'll end up seeing something you don't want to see."
"I know you deal with scum sometimes and circumstances force you to lower yourself to their level to stay undercover, Todd," said Damian, trying to be serious, even though Jason thought frowning only made him look adorable. Like a homicidal bunny.
"I'm sure your brother was referring to sex," said Artemis, the shadow of a smile at the corner of her lips. "What are you doing here, little one? Is there any emergency?"
"If there were, I'd be wearing my uniform instead of what I'm forced to wear so fools my age won't suspect my secret identity," said Damian, grumpily ignoring the comment about his size and pointing to his sneakers, blue jeans, and He-Man t-shirt. Jason wondered if he really considered dressing like a normal boy to be 'undercover' or was it just an excuse to dress up the way he wanted and still feel badass. "The news of your new... relationship with this woman have reached my ears. Is it true that you're courting Todd, Amazon?"
Jason could barely contain his laughter. What did the demon brat think he was doing? Threatening an Amazon?
"There are courtship intentions on my part, yes," replied Artemis as if she were taking it seriously.
"Well, they better be serious courtship intentions. I'm here as the rightful heir of the Wayne and al Ghul families, and since my father took Todd in, that makes him part of the family and therefore under my protection, as annoying as he is. So if you play with his heart and don't treat him with the distinction he deserves, you would be tarnishing my family's good name, forcing me to consider you my enemy."
Holy shit the demon brat was threatening an Amazon.
"Damian, you shouldn't- it's none of your business-"
"Easy Jason, I would do the same, with fewer words, if I had a sibling. Message received, Damian Wayne." Artemis leaned forward. "But you better not threaten me twice."
Before Damian could declare war on Bana-Mighdall on behalf of the League of Assassins, Jason interrupted him. "Did you really come here just to give Artemis the shovel talk? Don't you have anything better to do?"
"As I told your lover, it's my duty as the rightful future head of the family."
"Aww, you care about me."
"Also for the ants in the garden and the bats in the cave. Don't consider yourself special. Hey!" Damian complained when Jason lifted him into his arms as if he weighed no more than a purse. "How dare you?!" Damian exclaimed but without doing anything (like stabbing him) to free himself.
"I'm too tired to deal with you now," said Jason, getting into the bed, still wrapping the boy like a human blanket. "Tomorrow we can threaten Superboy or whoever, but now I'm going to sleep."
"You mean later today," said Artemis, crawling into bed with him. "It's five in the morning."
"You heard her, it's five o'clock. Time to sleep."
"Let me go!"
"So you can go through my things while I'm asleep? Don't even think about it, brat. Besides, you can't make me."
"Of course I can!"
"If you both shut up so I can sleep..." said  Artemis, massaging the bridge of her nose. "I'll tell you where to get your own magic ax as my Mistress."
"... I guess your offer isn't discouraging," said Damian, before Jason pulled him closer to him and rested his chin on his head, quickly falling asleep.

Marinette almost missed Hawkmoth. Sure, she ended up extremely emotionally repressed, but hey! At least her opponent was stupid, at least she never had to fear losing.
But, yeah, that was why she didn’t notice the fact that chloroform was on the floor. That was way too smart for a villain, in her opinion. Wasn’t Joker supposed to be insane or something? Why wasn’t he completely stupid like Hawkmoth had been?
Those were her last thoughts before her vision blacked out.
She blinked her eyes open one time while she was being transported, but… it wasn’t enough. Her head pounded, her limbs felt like lead. She tried to pull one of her arms away from the five goons carrying her around -- she giggled at how much effort they were going through to keep a half-conscious person down -- but it was too weak to even break their grip. She wasn’t going to be getting out of the situation anytime soon.
She rested her head back against the chest of whoever was carrying her head.
Her eyes fluttered shut without her permission.
It took a while for her to be able to open her eyes again, and when she did she was almost tempted to close them. She was tied up with Red Robin, hanging upside down over a vat of acid. Decidedly not a good situation to be in. Maybe she could ignore it for a little longer…?
She buried her face in the neck of Red Robin’s suit, using the cool material as a kind of cold pack to try and soothe her pounding headache.
… wait... Red Robin!
She had a bit of protection because of her mask covering her mouth and nose and miraculous immune system, but he was a human and both his mouth and nose were uncovered! Shit!
Marinette pulled back as much as she could to check his face and see if he was okay and then cursed the domino mask blocking his eyes from her view. What she could see wasn’t good, though: the skin of his face had broken out into hives where he had come into contact with the chloroform. Ouch.
She tried just poking the good parts of his face with her nose to get him to wake up, but clearly that wasn’t working. Alright, new plan.
“Red Robin?” She whispered.
Nothing.
“Red Robin Red Robin Red Red Red Red Red…”
She was pretty sure she was doing this annoying thing right. She didn’t have siblings, how could she know?
Wait wait wait, what was that one thing that his siblings always said to him?
“Reeeeed Robin, yum~.”
Not even that got a response? Damn, he must really be out of it.
Time for drastic measures, then.
She tipped her head back as far back as it could go and then slammed her forehead against his. This evoked a lot of swearing from both parties. Apparently, headbutting people doesn’t help headaches.
When her head stopped ringing as loudly, she peeked her eyes open. “Sorry, checking to see if you were alive.”
He gave about as much of a nod as he could. “It’s… I understand why you had to do it.”
She gave a tentative smile. “Right. Still, sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it,” he assured her, then glanced down to see what they were working with. He bit his lip anxiously. “Ah, that’s not good,” he said after a few moments of consideration.
She rolled her eyes because, yeah, obviously. She didn’t say that aloud, it wasn’t productive, so she said: “I’m going to squirm. See if you can free your arms a little?”
“Do you think I have some kind of gadget in my gloves for every situation?”
“Don’t you?”
He hesitated. “I mean… yes, I do have something that could help us out of the ropes, but we are kinda over acid right now. How fast is your reaction time?”
She tipped her head from side to side with an awkward smile. “Not great.”
“Then maybe we should just wait for backup --.”
“Do you think they’ll get here before Joker does?”
“... you’re right. Start squirming --.”
“Wow, you two hate me that much? I’m hurt,” a voice cooed.
Marinette jumped out of her skin. She craned her neck to glare at Joker for scaring her…
And immediately regretted it. Why was his face not attached to his skull properly? Did he cut his own face off? Who even does that? Ew.
Red Robin scowled at him. “I can’t say we were all glad to hear you were out.”
“Red Robin...” she warned.
“Wow, not even old Batsy was happy to hear the news?”
“Nope. Didn’t say anything, actually.”
Joker’s smile wavered. “He didn’t?”
“Um, Red,” she tried again.
“Nothing,” he confirmed. “Not. A. Word.”
Joker didn’t seem to know what to do about this information. Batman wasn’t even paying attention to him? What was the point, then?
Marinette was also concerned about what was going on, but for a completely different reason. She leaned close to his ear and whispered: “Why are we trying to anger the psychopath?”
He gave as much of a shrug as he could while tied up. “If he’s talking he’s not trying to kill us.”
“And what if he gets angry enough to kill us?”
“He probably won’t.”
She winced. “Okay, I really don’t like your use of ‘probably’ there --.”
With both of their hands forced behind their backs, the only comfort he could really give was pressing his good cheek to hers. It shouldn’t have worked, but apparently life or death situations mess with your emotions.
“Just… trust me?” He pleaded quietly.
She sucked in a deep breath before turning to glare at Joker, who was still having a crisis over the fact that Batman didn’t care as much as he did. Well, she guessed that she had to take out her headache on someone. Might as well be the bitch in ugly clown makeup.
“You know, I don’t even understand why people are scared of you.”
Joker frowned and turned to look at her. “What?”
“I mean, I get why Poison Ivy is feared, I get why Mr. Freeze is feared… I even get Penguin and Riddler since they both have a high enough intellect to make up for their lack of powers… but you’re just… some guy.”
Joker gave her a cold look. “I could kill you.”
“So could a particularly determined cow, you’re not special.”
Red Robin snickered. She smiled, a little proud of herself for making him laugh.
Their grins were wiped off their faces when the rope holding them up dropped.
It caught them again dangerously close to the acid. Red Robin was a few centimeters from getting a new haircut. Marinette wondered, morbidly, whether her suit would go with her if she disintegrated.
“Not going to kill us, huh?”
“... well, I did say probably,” he mumbled, his face a little red.
She swallowed thickly. “If we live, I’m going to kill you.”
“Fair. Want to mess with him if he’s going to kill us anyways?”
“... yes.” She whipped around to glare at Joker again. “I mean, honestly, why aren’t you dead yet?”
“We don’t kill,” supplied Red Robin.
She grinned. “Sure, and I get that. I’m also not fond of murder... but is every citizen in Gotham just agreeing to not kill him? Does Batman spend all his time making sure that civilians don’t do it? Why hasn’t anyone seen him on the street and just tried to run him over?”
“... I mean, Robin hit him with the Batmobile once.”
“See?” She grinned. “And don’t even get me started on Punchline and your goons, Joker. How did you find so many people loyal to you?”
“I love him!” Said Punchline defensively.
“... sweetie, if you want a pasty white guy with green hair just watch 2016 Jacksepticeye.”
Red Robin nodded. “At least he’s kind of funny sometimes.”
“If you need the guy to be evil, how about the evil alter ego he made… what was he called?”
“Antisepticeye.”
“Ha, you’re a fucking nerd,” Marinette teased.
Red Robin blushed (or maybe that was just the blood slowly rushing to their heads from being upside down for so long) and pointedly ignored her: “Look up Antisepticeye. It’ll probably be healthier for you.”
Punchline didn’t have a retort for that. Marinette was deciding that was because she was considering it, not because she probably didn’t know who Jack/Antisepticeye was.
She pushed on: “And, hey, you goons don’t have to give Punchline over there the glory. Stab your boss. C’mon, it’ll be cool. Doubt he’s paying you more than whatever bounty is on his head, anyways.”
“If you’re going to rally henchmen maybe you shouldn’t call them ‘goons’,” suggested Red Robin.
She pouted. “But ‘goons’ sounds cuter.”
He opened his mouth to retort but she’d never know what he was going to say because, at that moment, Signal and Robin came busting in through the skylight.
~
Tim relaxed when he heard the glass shatter. Whether Marientte’s henchmen rallying had somehow worked or their backup had come, it at least meant that Joker and Punchline were distracted from wanting to murder them.
He struggled to crane his neck to see what was going on.
Oh. Damn. Damian was back from his angsting on the weird murder island? And he was here? Nevermind, he’d prefer Joker and Punchline. Damian was never going to let him live this down.
Speaking of Damian, a weight jumped onto their ropes and the three vigilantes became a pendulum. Tim grit his teeth tightly and Marinette let loose a long string of swears as their headaches worsened.
But, apparently, the world wasn’t done with them. Damian sliced the line at the highest point and they went flying across the room. Tim was the unlucky one on the bottom when they hit the ground, which he doubted was an accident.
Damian left them to deal with things on their own from there. Least he could have done was cut them free with his katana, but Tim supposed that was too much to wish for from the youngest brother.
He rested his head back against the cool floor for a second. He could feel Marinette stretch across his shoulder to do the same. They sighed in relief. This was the closest they had come to treating their headaches and wow was it nice.
But, frankly, resting in the middle of a fight isn’t a great idea. So, they wriggled around on the floor until he was able to flick open the tiny knife in the index finger of his gloves and cut the rope binding them without, y’know, cutting one of them instead.
Freedom! What did they do with this newfound freedom, you may ask? Scratch their heads. Turns out chloroform sucks for many reasons and one of those is that it’s a major skin irritant.
He also vomited. Thank god they’d been freed. He’d been only a few seconds away from throwing up on Marinette. He felt especially bad about that when she peeled a hand from her itching to hold his hair away from his face.
The fight was over soon enough. Duke and Damian came over to watch the two of them attempting to peel their skin off layer by layer.
“Pathetic,” chided Damian.
“Don’t be a dick --.” Marinette cut herself off, her hand flying to her mouth. “I swore in front of a baby.”
“I’m twelve!”
“Exactly: a baby.” She reached out and cupped a very affronted Damian’s face in her hands. “Look, you still have baby fat! You shouldn’t be fighting crime!”
Tim couldn’t tell if she was messing with Damian for being rude to them or if she genuinely saw him as a little kid. He wasn’t going to correct her. She’d remember he was a gremlin soon enough.
Damian wrenched his face from her grip. “If I hadn’t come you two would have been burned in acid.”
“Please, we all know Signal probably could have dealt with this entirely on his own,” Marinette waved him off.
Duke rested a hand over his heart like he was touched.
Tim rolled his eyes and pulled Marinette to him, resting his head on top of hers lazily. “We should get a checkup at the cave. Chloroform has… not nice effects and we both rolled around in it a little while fighting.”
Duke and Damian both winced, but Marinette didn’t seem all that concerned.
“I’ll be fine. My immune system is enhanced by --.”
Duke clapped his hands by her ears as loudly as he could. Neither Marinette nor Tim were particularly happy about it.
“Behold: a headache, one of the main symptoms of chloroform. Your face also has some red streaks, so don’t even try to deny that the chloroform is affecting you.”
“I take back my praise, I’ve decided I hate you,” she murmured, massaging her temples.
“I just remembered that I need the siren on my bike on to tell all the other bats we’ll need them at the cave...”
“Wait, no --.”
~
Marinette glared at Black Bat and Spoiler. The batboys had left the infirmary area for her own comfort and that was nice of them but she would really prefer if she hadn’t had to come at all.
Now she sat in some of Black Bat’s pajamas and one of Spoiler’s spare masks as they inspected her.
Her nose scrunched as Black Bat drew blood from her arm.
“This is dumb. I don’t need this.”
“We’ve been told. Humor us?” Spoiler said and, though Marinette couldn’t see her face from where she was, she knew she was rolling her eyes.
“I would if you were actually funny.”
“I think we can definitely put her down for irritability,” commented Spoiler.
Black Bat nodded and dutifully wrote it down. Traitor.
The cool metal of a stethoscope was pressed to her back and she cringed.
“Deep breaths.”
Marinette complied, however reluctantly. Might as well get all this bullshit over with as soon as possible.
… she was regretting that decision, now, though.
She gave Batman a cold look. “You can’t keep me here.”
“You need to stay so we can monitor your state overnight. You could have asphyxiated.”
“But we didn’t,” complained Red Robin, who looked just as annoyed about this as she was.
“We have lives, B,” she said.
“You weren’t going to do anything other than patrols tonight, don’t act like I’m tearing you away from something important.”
“The protection of the city is important,” Red argued.
“Neither of you would be much help tonight in the state you’re in, anyways.”
Red Robin stuck his lower lip out in a pout. Marinette gave her best puppy-dog eyes.
Batman wasn’t moved. “If you need something, Agent A will provide it.”
She blinked, eyes returning to normal in her confusion. “Who --?”
He disappeared into the shadows before she could finish the conversation, something she was, unfortunately, getting used to.
Marinette scowled at where he had last been.
Maybe she should have expected this, maybe if she had been less out of it she would have. They had given her pajamas when she’d had clothes and insisted on cleaning her old ones ‘for chloroform’. The checkup might have been a genuine checkup on her state, but it probably wouldn’t have mattered what the results were. She was always going to end up staying the night in the cold, dingy cave filled with bats.
She sighed and laid back against the stone floors. She heard Red Robin groan and looked up to see he had been locked out of the Batcomputer for the night. He leaned back in his chair and mumbled curses.
She giggled at his distress and, despite himself, a tiny grin poked at his lips.
“Want to race to see who can hack into it first?” She suggested.
He raised an eyebrow at her under his domino. “Think you can win?”
“Considering I don’t know that much about hacking, I’m going to say probably not.”
A wide smile spread across his face, now, and he waved her over. She took a seat on the desk beside the keyboard and he started teaching her everything.
Most of what he said, while technically heard, wasn’t exactly understood. She couldn’t concentrate. It was the first time she had seen him in anything but his vigilante suit and she decided that that was a crime because he looked so cute in the Batman-themed pajamas. Furthermore, the way his long hair was pushed back by a headband to keep it out of the green paste spread over his face to alleviate the chloroform’s rash reminded her of a spa day in all those movies.
And then there was the smile. It made her heart flutter in her chest because she was so used to his grins but this was just a genuine smile. He looked so passionate about the intricacies of cyber crime. She was almost sad about the domino hiding his eyes because she wanted to see the way they lit up while he explained different ways viruses could be accidentally downloaded to devices.
Basically, she was a mess for this random cute guy she worked with. She had never seen him so casual and at ease and it felt far more intimate than it maybe should.
She rested her head on her hand, nodding along as he talked about data encryption versus decoding.
Well, maybe a forced sleepover in the Batcave wouldn’t be so bad...
~
Tim was suffering a lot more than he would ever admit, and only a small part of it was due to chloroform.
He was going to be having a sleepover with one of his idols and he was going to be spending a large amount of the time trying not to throw up. And she could totally tell, too, why else would she be watching him so intensely? Someone kill him, please. He was so glad he had a secret identity because he didn’t know how he would manage if she thought Tim Drake-Wayne was a loser.
Granted, she was going to think Red Robin was a loser... but at least he had a second chance as Tim.
He rested his chin on the back of his chair. He had hacked into the Batcomputer already but it was a relatively dull night out on patrols and he wasn’t eager to be yelled at for showing Marinette some files on top of already hacking into them when he wasn’t supposed to.
“Wanna do something?”
She grinned. “Is there anything to do here other than train?”
“... nothing approved.”
She tipped her head to the side. “And of the things that aren’t approved?”
He matched her grin. “Well…”
And that was how he ended up setting up a movie projector in the cave so they could watch Groundhog Day. Marinette had taken to making them a pillow fort.
Duke stumbled down the steps, half awake, and raised his eyebrows at them from behind his domino. He poured himself a cup of coffee from the pot that they had made and took a long sip before sending the two of them a wary look. “Do I want to know?”
Marinette didn’t look up from her and Tikki’s base construction. “Dunno. Do you want to watch Groundhog Day with us?”
He frowned. “Isn’t that the one where that guy in a time loop stalks his co-worker until he knows enough to make her fall in love with him?”
“Just say you don’t like romcoms and go,” Marinette irritably.
“I’m fine with romcoms, it’s just… a little messed up that he uses the knowledge he gets from being in a time loop to ensure she falls for him?”
“It’s a story about self-improvement,” Tim said, sending his brother a glare. “He grows as a person until he is worthy of her love.”
“Him learning about her is part of his arc. He starts off selfish and he ends it with a deeper appreciation for other people,” agreed Marinette.
Duke held his free hand up in mock surrender. “Fine, fine. Enjoy your stalker movie.”
“It’s not a --,” Tim tried to argue, but Duke was already heading back upstairs.
He huffed a little and finished setting up the computer and projector, then took a seat in the pillow fort. She poured each of them a cup of coffee, put a straw in hers to maintain her identity, and then took a seat beside him.
He took it from her with a bright smile and turned on the movie.
She rested her head on his shoulder as the happy-go-lucky music started up.
Unfortunately for them, they didn’t manage to stay awake for all that long. Duke had drugged the coffee pot.
~
Marinette shifted awake a while later and promptly decided that being awake sucked.
Nothing about her current situation sucked, of course. At some point during the night they had fallen asleep and now she was laying half on top of Red Robin, clinging to him like a koala. He didn’t seem all that upset about it, though, with his arm wrapped around her and his face buried in her hair.
Unfortunately, the time on the bottom right of the Batcomputer’s screen told her she didn’t have much time to enjoy it.
She started the slow process of extracting herself from him. Getting the arm off of herself was easy, getting his face away from her head was much harder (this wasn’t helped by the fact that the paste on his face had stuck to her hair).
There was one scare where she thought he was going to wake up. She pushed herself off of his chest and he took a long breath in. Marinette froze, watching his lips tighten… and then he turned over in his sleep.
Oops, apparently she’d been suffocating him a little in her sleep. Sorry, Red.
Well, at least she was free now.
She slipped out of the pillow fort and glanced at the time again.
Even less time to do what she needed. Because that’s how time works.
She sighed and called Tikki over with a tiny wave of her hand, walking over the edge of the railing. She looked down at the abyss that stretched many feet below.
Tikki couldn’t have looked more disapproving if she tried.
“It’s just a little insurance,” Marinette signed.
This didn’t make Tikki any less upset with her, but she hadn’t really expected it to. She signed for her transformation. She tied herself to the railing with her yoyo as a precaution and then hooked her legs around the railing.
And down she went.
She flexed at an awkward angle, flashlight in her mouth, and stuck a tracker to the bottom of the platform.
And, really, she wasn’t intending on using it. Like she said, it was just insurance. They had drawn blood from her earlier and she knew for a fact that it wasn’t necessary for chloroform inhalation. The only reason that made sense for that was that they wanted to check and see if she had inhaled some but they already knew that so… what did they want with her blood?
She was willing to bet it had something to do with her secret identity. And, hey, she didn’t particularly care if they knew her identity, she trusted them, but if it ever got out because of them revealing then who the bats were would be 1) revenge and 2) a good distraction.
“Hey --?”
Thank the kwamis she had tied herself to the railing because she’d been surprised enough to let go of the platform.
“Shit, sorry!” Said Red Robin.
She pulled herself back up onto the platform with his help and then collapsed on the cool stone. She spat the flashlight from her mouth. “Fuuuuuuck, don’t do that again, please.”
“Sorry,” he said again. Then he glanced back at where she had been and, momentarily, his lips pulled into a frown. “I gotta ask: what were you doing?”
“Hm?”
Shitshitshit.
“Oh, I wanted to see if there was anything down there or if it was just for The Aesthetic.”
“Why not just use your yoyo to go down?”
She shuddered. “The flashlight barely did anything. Would you want to go down into that darkness with no clue even how far down it goes?”
He seemed to accept the answer. “It’s an old iron mine. No one uses it anymore, though.”
She nodded her understanding.
She pushed herself back up to a sitting position and looked at him.
“The bats don’t get back for a while and we’re still on lockdown, so… want to do something?”
~
Damian was the first one to get home. Apparently he had broken a leg on patrol. This was fine (well, maybe he shouldn’t have been driving himself, but whatever).
What was not fine was that he had promptly decided to be an asshole.
Tim and Marinette had been playing Minecraft on the Batcomputer and, like all younger brothers, Damian asked to play.
And, like all older brothers, Tim barely looked up from his controller to tell him: “No.”
Damian looked to be on the verge of a meltdown.
Marinette sighed and sent Tim a tired look. “Red, don’t be mean. He’s just a kid. There’s more controllers, we can just give him one.”
“But…” He started. Damian was a terrible partner to play Minecraft with because he never helped out with anything except for the farm.
However, Marinette was looking at him expectantly. Tim bit his lip, considering.
Damian looked between the two of them and a wicked grin spread across his face and oh no.
Damian took a seat next to Marinette and gave her puppy-dog eyes (a real feat, considering the fact that he was wearing a domino and therefore his eyes were invisible). “Miss Ladybug, can’t you please make him let me play?”
Marinette gave Tim a tired look. “Red, c’mon, just for a bit.”
Damian smirked a little but, by the time Marinette turned back around, he had schooled his face back into a pout.
She handed him her controller. “You can have mine. I’ll find another for myself.”
The two watched her leave and Tim sent his younger brother a glare. “I can’t believe you would embarrass yourself this much just to play a game.”
“Anything to annoy you, ‘big bro’.”
He opened his mouth to retort, but then Marinette came back and all he could do was send him a glare behind her back.
Damian retaliated by sitting himself on Marinette’s lap. She looked down, amusement making her eyes crinkle, but otherwise didn’t acknowledge it. Damian smirked and stuck his tongue out at Tim.
That little shit.
And it continued on for hours while the three of them waited for the rest of the bats to come back. Damian would cling to Marinette in some way and he would become the bad guy for glaring at a child. He was seriously considering breaking the No Killing Rule for this kid.
Finally, though, people started coming back and apparently Damian thought it too embarrassing to do such a thing in front of more than just the person he was trying to annoy because he clambered off her lap to play just a little bit away.
Bruce was the last one to come in and he looked at his kids with the patented Batdad Glare because they had managed to drag Steph into playing with them (without much effort) and Cass into watching (with much more effort). Which meant that there were currently five family disappointments. Yay them.
Tim smiled innocently. “What? We got bored. Maybe you should let us out so this doesn’t happen again.”
“I’m keeping you here for your own safety.”
Marinette and Tim both groaned.
“I have work to do.”
“Me, too.”
Bruce didn’t relent because he was a stubborn asshole.
But that was fine. They really hadn’t expected them to. Tim glanced at Marinette and she twirled her index finger against her flat palm, the sign for ‘start’.
One flash and smoke bomb later, the two of them were running as fast as they could to his bike. He grinned as he helped his giggling friend get on and hopped up himself. Arms wrapped around him tightly and her face buried in his back. They tore out of the cave, giggling all the while.
