A Complete Guide for Building Your First Website
Websites are the most important aspect of the online platform. A website is a collection of linked documents that comprise text, images, illustrations, audio, video, and other forms of material. A website can be defined simply as a group of web pages. Web pages are internet pages that you see on a computer or smartphone utilizing the internet and web service. It is sometimes as straightforward as some web pages or as complicated as multiple online apps concurrently.
As the term suggests, a website is a ‘site’ on the ‘internet.’ This ‘site’ allows you to post information about yourself or any other subject for others to browse via the web. Much like your home’s address, your website will have its unique address known as a ‘web address.’ Internet users may simply find your website and get the content using the web address. The services on a website could include buying and selling products, downloading digital products, etc.
Tumblr media
A website is a collection of interconnected internet pages arranged under a single title or internet domain. Every website on the internet serves a specific purpose or achieves a specified aim. For example, organizations and businesses hope to give information and services to their members and customers through their websites.
Websites have also evolved into a source of entertainment, such as online gaming, viewing movies, and playing music. Furthermore, e-commerce sites enable us to sell and buy items over the internet.
Reasons Why You Need To Build a Website
There are a variety of purposes a website can serve to a firm or business. They include enlightening prospective consumers concerning goods and services, representing the company, facilitating inter-department communication, or delivering things online. There are also personal websites that provide information or serve as a source of fun.
The broad reach of a website is undoubtedly one of the causes of the recent increase in internet sites. A website provides private individuals with the opportunity to participate in public issues actively. You can captivate possible employers, stakeholders, or compatible people by including your website URL alongside your profile.
Components of a Website
Webhosting
Web hosting refers to the physical address of a website. When users type in the website’s location or address, the web server sends a collection of files to their PCs. Unless the assemblage of web pages is housed on a web server, it cannot be authorized to be termed a website.
The home page of a website is a highly common and vital feature. It is the initial page that visitors see when they visit the website. A website’s home page is crucial since it establishes the site’s appearance and ambiance and directs visitors to the remainder of the site’s pages.
Web Address
The URL of a website is also known as the website’s address. To open a website, the user must type the address or URL into the web browser, and the webserver will send the requested webpage.
Design
It is the website’s final and comprehensive appearance and experience, which results from the right use and integration of elements such as control panels, visuals, design, etc.
The Organization of the Navigation: The order of the pages on a website’s navigation structure is the accumulation of connectivity between elements. At least one navigation menu usually holds it together.
Content
A website’s content comprises all the web pages that make up the website. The effectiveness and appeal are enhanced by quality content on the pages.
Types of Websites
A static website is generally enough if the goal of your site is to serve as an online business card. In this case, the web address redirects the user to a fixed Html page that resembles those on the server. HTML documents containing the relevant information are prepared and saved on the web server under their URL. The HTML code is changed for every single subpage of the project. For changes to be made on a static website, they must be manual.
This manual process is eliminated with dynamic websites because the web server develops the web pages each time they are accessed. The dynamic website is built on rigorous content and layout separation. Instead of repeatedly sending unaltered static HTML pages, the server automatically updates the page content based on the recent update.
For the most part, dynamic websites depend on pre-designed layouts and Templates populated with relevant material. These websites are the more preferred option due to their versatility.
Guide to Building Your First Website.
There’s a need to know how to code a website. Learning these computer languages at a beginner’s level takes hours of study and practice. However, there’s no need to engage a high-priced developer. There are great resources available that allow you to design any website.
Many developers are increasingly employing WordPress and other website builder frameworks to accelerate creating websites. It has several features that allow users to build a website design from the ground up without learning how to code.
To fully functional your website, you only need to follow a few basic steps.
A web address and hosting services are required to get started with WordPress. One of the most significant choices needed for your website is the domain name. That is your website’s address, and it’s how visitors will remember it. It might seem difficult to get the right domain name, but you must not carelessly make this choice. After you’ve purchased a name and hosting service, you can go ahead and install WordPress.
To download a webpage builder for Word Press, ensure it has a drag-and-drop interface that is simple for novices but powerful for developers. It allows you to construct a bespoke web design. It will include the drop-down menu, dashboard, and footers, as well as all of your page content.
You can utilize a website builder, for example, NinjaSites, if you don’t want to buy a name, web hosting, and running various applications such as WordPress. It’s an excellent solution for developing basic company websites and online storefronts. It’s a perfect solution for creating basic company websites and online storefronts.
What Are Website Builders
Website Builder is a digital design and hosting tool for web developers, site owners, and internet marketers. It is a free application that offers templates and features that may be changed using drag-and-drop functionality and UX/UI templates. In addition, you can choose from a wide range of themes and customize them to match your brand vision using the specifically built drag-and-drop website-builder software.
A website builder is defined as a program that lets you design and build websites without any knowledge of coding. It allows you to complete all of your tasks without the assistance of a developer.
There are both digital and offline website builders. Before using an offline website builder, you must first install it. As for internet-based website builders, there is no need to install any software. This is because internet-based website builders are used in web applications. For both novices and more professional developers, online website builders are designed to be simple to use.

Problems facing modern artists & creators
I've talked with hundreds of artists and creators about the difficulties they face trying to earn a living from their craft.
This post covers two of the big ones (social media algorithms & bargain basement marketplaces), and what tools are available to grow your business despite these issues.
Social Media Algorithms and Audience Ownership
Social media platforms are a godsend for getting your work in front of potential clients and building a loyal fan base.
However as you will all have experienced, it can take a mastermind to figure out what kind of content the algorithm wants you to post, and if you don't do that you'd be as well throwing your content into the void as even your own followers might not see your post, never mind new viewers.
It also means you don't truly own your audience, if you post something slightly controversial your account could be deleted without warning, or perhaps a billionaire buys the site and everyone flocks to a new platform where you have to start growing your following all over again.
Solution: Build a mailing list
This is perhaps the single best marketing tool available to any business, and is sorely overlooked by artists and creators.
It's cost effective and because you own your mailing list it doesn't matter what's happening on social sites, you can always keep in touch with them.
The tricky part is converting people into mailing list subscribers. However I've seen plenty of creators successfully build one by offering incentives including free digital downloads, early access to content, discounts on your store etc.
Those who sign up to your mailing list would be considered high quality followers, someone who is much more likely to convert to a paid client and buy from you again in the future compared to the average follower on social media.

Losing clients to undercutting competitors on the same platform/marketplace
If you run your business on a marketplace or platform, your clients are one click away from finding plenty of other choices who are willing to undercut everyone else to land a sale.
These sites have no incentive to make sure that traffic you drive to your profile actually purchase from you. Whether a sale is made through your listing or another seller, they collect their fee either way.
They also use uniform designs which reduce you to a generic product listing. Whilst this can simplify the customer experience, it means you have no control over the sales funnel and ability to differentiate yourself, making it harder to convert potential clients into paying customers.
Solution: Direct clients to your own site
Use your own personal website to make sales from, there are plenty of options with no monthly charge and lower fees than marketplaces. This lets you make dedicated marketing pages showcasing your best work to make a client excited about doing business with you, instead of just being a generic product listing.
Take advantage of marketplaces purely for their customer base. Don't rely on them as your sole business platform. This way, any fees you pay are worthwhile to generate sales you wouldn't have had otherwise.

There's plenty more I have to share on this topic, including:
How to properly use Print on Demand without getting ripped off
Streamline managing your business so you spend more time creating and growing your business.
How to better utilize your brand to connect with clients and increase sales
So let me know if you’re interested and I’ll get writing!
Transparency
I'm building https://art.page to solve these exact issues, with the goal to create the best all in one site builder for artists and creators that makes running your business easy.

I keep seeing people talk about Palestine as if all hope is lost like they’re already gone and “the least we can do it remember them” and quite frankly I reject that. These people are fighting for their lives demanding the world to pay attention to them. Demanding their freedom and their right to exist on their own land. In light of the absolute atrocity that is happening in Rafah I am urging everyone to remember why we’re protesting and that these people ARE HERE. They’re alive, they’re real, they have a beautiful culture that needs to be witnessed and celebrated so here are some Palestinian creators you should follow because Palestine is not lost. It is not an empty land that’s gone. They will never be gone and we should all keep fighting until Palestine is free and not a second before because Palestine WILL be free again. I’m focusing mostly on Palestinian creators on tiktok because I think it’s important to see the physically and listen them and just acknowledge that they’re people, they should have linktrees to their other social media. I encourage you to visit their pages and interact with them because they are also being censored especially on tiktok. My platform isn’t big here so please feel free to reblog and also add more links, I would love to follow more Palestinian creators as well!
None of us are free until we all are. From the river to the sea. 🇵🇸🕊️🍉
@/mxriyum - a Palestinian woman who shares her amazing recipes passed down from her mother. She hasn’t posted in a while but there are many Palestinian recipes on her page that are absolute delicious. Please give them a try.
@/anat_international - a Palestinian woman giving updates on what is happening in Gaza but also shares about Gaza before the genocide. She is currently being heavily censored by tiktok for talking about the genocide and is doing more “influencer” like videos to beat the algorithm. So she’s sharing more stuff about the culture like Tatreez clothing, and organizing pottery painting sessions with people who are palestinian and allies. Extremely informative! She’s taught me so much.
@/sammyobeidthem - a Palestinian man who is a comedian. Genuinely so funny! And proudly Palestinian and talks about Palestine in his sets!
@/elyanna - a Palestinian singer. Her voice is insanely gorgeous. She has a song that has not been released on spotify called olive branch that is about the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
@/monamakeupdoll - a Palestinian make up artist, she’s absolutely gorgeous! She share tips and tricks and make up brands that support Palestine!
@/thatfalahigirl -A Palestinian Influencer she has a link in her link tree to purchase a Keffiyah if you haven’t yet there is even a discount! All proceeds go to Gaza via Pious Projects! She shows various ways to wrap it and shares her cultural clothes and I learned what dabke is because of her and it looks like so much fun!
@/amalzhamm - A Palestinian influencer she posts about her lifestyle and food and her family and it’s just so important right now to see happy Palestinian people. Palestinian mothers and fathers and children just existing. Like all of us do every day. And she shared this absolutely beautiful video of what palestine is like.
I’m going to end with this next one the very first person I saw on tik tok that educated me through his videos on Gaza and Palestine in October last year.
@/iamsbeih - a Palestinian influencer he posts about what is happening right now and what has been happening to the Palestinian people for over 70 years. He talks about his own family and his roots in Palestine the correct way to pronounce Gaza and Palestine. Just so much crucial information and i’m so grateful for him being willing to spend the time making these videos to educate people like me. He even posted a couple of palestinian songs (iirc they’re folk songs a lot of Palestinians in the comments know them) recently and they’re very beautiful.
Thank you. Free Palestine.

The Unrighteous Knight Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: azriel x second archeron sister!reader
summary: After the events that occurred between Azriel and you, nothingness seems rather appealing. (Also some insight into readers past, and how becoming fae has affected them)
warning: su**ci*al thoughts, canon typical violence, nesta slander…inner circle slander?
word count: 1.3k
a/n: Sorry for delay, my drafts got deleted! This chapter is a little slow, but necessary for character development. Turns out, reader isn’t such a meek character after all…
Part One Part Two Part Three
Tumblr media
To be, or not to be.
That is the question. The simple question, as mortals would insist. But what hold do the claws of mortality have upon an immortal being? How far must a cauldron made fae go to completely rid themselves of their humanity, with no guarantee that they will find solace in immortality?
Nowhere.
That is the answer, the simple answer your youngest sister and her dashing mate insist upon.
You must go nowhere, because simply put, the act of searching for serenity is sure to attract confusion.
But the answer is surely not so simple. Is nowhere not anywhere when you have been dragged to a land different from the one you’d grown to love?
The soil of Prythian feels foreign beneath your feet. Then again, your own skin feels foreign against your blood, which feels volatile within your soul.
Prythian, the continent home to Feyre Cursbreaker, Lady Death, and the most beautiful of the three sisters, Elain, cannot possibly be home to you, (y/n) Archeron, the sister who stands out for no reason other than her own lack of brilliance.
While the cauldron may have lent your younger sister the power of a seer, you were left with nothing.
Not brave enough to take it for yourself, you have come to terms with the fact that you are once again, left behind.
The forgotten sister. Perhaps that is what you are. What you always have been.
They insist that this is your home, that Velaris will bathe you in its light and rid you of your struggles. But you have found that you quite hate the light. It is darkness that you seek. It is nothingness you yearn for, the absence of everything in its entirety.
You try not to let these thoughts fester for too long.
Writing, for all you know, is the only way to remedy the situation. After all, it is considerably easier to distract yourself when you have something to look forward to.
Something that you enjoy.
Perhaps it is the nothingness within your leather bound notebook that brings you peace. The unfilled pages are not lonely, but instead, freeing.
The cruelty of your reality leaves no mark on the pages of your worn book. Nothingness, or in this case, fiction, is all that lines its pages.
Stories of the past, present, and future are maimed into something foreign. You are the narrator, you are the creator, you are in control.
Control.
That is your answer. Supplied by none other than yourself, of course.
It is control you seek. The ability to lead a life you choose, without ever having to bow down to forces external to your own psyche.
Forces beyond the harsh stare of Azriel, the Night Court's Shadowsinger, and the bane of your eternal existence.
In the many years you’ve known him, he has never failed to remind you just how deep his hate for you went. Like a raft sailing down an empty river, your efforts to mend your relationship are continuously shut down.
Not that any of it matters, not anymore.
The second his blade made contact with your abdomen you knew, just knew that the two of you would never make peace.
Even now, days since the incident, a phantom pain remains, pulsing within the thin scar below your left rib.
It’s frustrating really, how do you move on from something you never want to forget?
Staring down at the tea stained pages of your journal, you let the question linger.
A whole bunch of nothing.
That is the answer you arrive at.
It should be familiar now, this nothingness within you. This nothingness you embody.
Your sisters, bless them, will never grasp the emptiness that resides within you. But how could they, for all they know you appreciate solitude, find serenity in the freedom this world has provided you.
But it is not freedom you embody, it is loneliness; nothingness in its purest form.
“What is it exactly you are working on?” Nesta’s cool voice asks you. Had you not known her better, you’d surely mistaken her inquiry for judgment. But you do know her, so you send her a hum too weak to be mistaken for one of contentment and forbid your eyes from leaving the shadow filled paper below you.
“Nothing,” you are working on absolutely nothing.
Had you looked up, you would have seen the two cups of tea in her hands.
Had you looked up, you would have seen the sheer weight of determination resting on her shoulders.
Had you looked up, perhaps the shadows moving slowly across your hands would have stopped their movements and removed themselves from your proximity.
But alas, your eyes remain on the dark creatures, hoping, praying, that they leave the library and take your loneliness with them.
“I know what you're doing,” she spoke once more, clearly set on making her presence felt.
“And what may that be?”
“You’re overthinking,” she moves across the shelves, elegantly placing herself onto one of the cushioned chairs in front of you.
“I can assure you, that is not the case.” Nothing, that is what you are doing, and have been doing since you were forced upon this planet.
“Come back to the training ground tomorrow, I’d like for you to be there,” her voice is sincere but it is dissatisfaction that overtakes you. Of course that is what this is about. You’re foolish for assuming she had come here with the answers to the questions you seek.
“I’ll consider it,” you say dryly, reverting back to the page below you, noticing the shadows have seemingly disappeared.
Whether or not Nesta is satisfied with your response means nothing to you.
It means nothing, really.
Nothing does.
“I don’t think he meant it.” And so Lady Death strikes again. As is if her words tore open your jugular, you find yourself recoiling into the chair. Of course she would think that, it’s not as though she were present to witness the hatred in his eyes, the malice within him as he raised his sword, the eagerness of his actions against the vulnerability of your torso.
“Oh?” The paper crinkles under your tight fist, its sound serving as a reminder of your demeanor.
“He was wrong to do what he did. He hurt you and I hate him for that,” she halts, carefully thinking of what to say, “That said, I don’t believe he meant to hurt you. Had he known your skills in combat, I think the situation would have been avoided.”
It’s your fault really, you should have guessed as much. The path of wrongness will always lead back to you. You shouldn’t have expected Nesta, of all people, to see through the situation.
“I’ll see you on the training grounds before sunrise tomorrow, because from what I am gathering, I cannot trust anyone here to not kill me if I don’t refine my skills.”
For a moment, guilt can be found on the face of your sister, though it is quickly replaced by something akin to anger.
Looking as though she intends to say more, Nesta rises from her chair and makes her way towards you. You find comfort in this, it reminds you of home, or something that once was home.
“If you despise your life that much then perhaps it is best you leave.” Too far, she’d gone too far. In typical Nesta fashion, she expresses her guilt through absence. The two filled tea cups serve as the only indicator she had even been present.
This is on you, completely your fault. You dared to welcome presence into nothingness and allowed for tension to fester. How foolish you were.
So with that, you begin to write.

KISS IT BETTER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary. the greatest lengths, that he is willing to do for you
tags. gn! reader, grammatical mistakes may occur
cw. scara's leak voicelines regarding ei, implied torture in dottore's part, kaeya lore spoilers (?), just those and over all a pure fluff abt what are this genshin men willing to do for you <3
feat. childe, albedo, pantalone, ayato, kaeya, scaramouche, dottore, diluc, zhongli, kazuha, cyno
Tumblr media
CHILDE ── he never stops talking about you in front of his family. everytime he comes home to them, he would start going on and on about how such an amazing and loving significant other you are, and his family didn't have the heart to interrupt him because every word and confession that leaves from his lips, are all genuine and pure from his heart. the only way you will find out about this, is when he brings you to meet them for the first time, and in an instant his parents and his siblings are all smitten by you.
ALBEDO ── he has a journal dedicated to you, consisting of the little things and habits about you, when is your birthday, what are your likes and dislikes, the date of your anniversary, the promises he had noted while being in a relationship with you, such memories that he managed to capture and so on. sometimes, it would come to a point where he's starting to not mind of reading every single page of the book, over and over again - if you ever catch him doing it, he will just swiftly reply "well, i just find this more interesting and eye catching. do you want to read it with me?."
PANTALONE ── he spends all his fortune on you, whenever the both of you are out on dates and something catches your eye for more than 0.1 second, that product is in your hands in an instant. you, at least tried to tell him to lessen down his habit of buying everything for you when he almost bought a whole island meant for you, but all he ever tells you is "what should i do with this mora then? darling, this fortune isn't worthy to me when i have someone as you."
AYATO ── he will boldly break and reject countless arrange marriages for you. sure, it is his obligation to get married, but to be paired with someone he couldn’t see as his significant other? he would rather dispose it, than let his marriage suffer just like how his childhood was. why would he look for more if he has someone as perfect as you? if they prefer to not listen to his pleas, then so be it. he would cross that line for you, even if it takes for some of the citizens to turn their backs on him - after all, it’s you and him against the world. yes? right.
KAEYA ── he will always choose you, over both mondstadt and khaenri'ah without a single hesitation. sometimes, he just couldn't handle the pressure in his shoulders, that there will come a time that he will have to choose between his homeland and the nation he had considered where he lived in - that is until he met you. suddenly, his whole perspective of life changes and his mind was now unexpectedly on set. he had decided - if he can run away, then he would, with you and would live in a far away land where only the two of you would live in it and grow old together.
SCARAMOUCHE ── he is willing to change himself for you, to the point that he would take the risk to reset himself. resetting himself, where he would be back to his old wandering self again after being told to roam around, as free as he wishes like how his creator and mother told him. if he is going to do that, then he doesn't mind one bit - if it means that he's going to be destined to meet you again, but this time under normal circumstances.
DOTTORE ── he orders his clones to always keep an eye on you. knowing that he is always hibernating in his lab doing who knows what, he can't always be by your side all the time. if ever danger comes to you, that is too close from his liking, he would not hesitate to order his clones to protect you from it, and bring the said danger to him in an instant, who even had the audacity to lay a single finger on you. maybe, they would be the perfect test subjects for this mind blowing experiment he had decided to work on?
DILUC ── he would ask your parents' consent first before courting you, and he is more than prepared to prove himself worthy of being titled as your lover. he would also proclaim that you also do not have to rush yourself in answering him, he is willing to wait even if it takes forever. because if he could? then he would.
ZHONGLI ── he can give you the 5 love languages. words of affirmation? you bet, he's going to put a whole power point presentation on why he loves you so much. physical touch? he can be not clingy at all times, but expect lingering and soft touches with him every now and then. receiving gifts? he keeps every single gift you are giving him, whether it's considered to be given on a special or an ordinary day. quality time? this man is fit to be a househusband, he's going to give you all the quality time that you need when you are in need of one. acts of service? he's a gentlemen, and you bet he won't let you lift a finger.
KAZUHA ── he will not raise his voice at you when the both of you, are in an argument. he would scold you, but in a calm, gentle and soft spoken manner - and the respect and love for you is still there. he would point what was your mistake in that certain situation, but would also make sure that every word that comes out from him, wouldn't struck a nerve in your side or would do anything to make you more upset than it is.
CYNO ── he will take some time to explain what does his jokes mean. for other people, he just complains about how they can't understand the jokes that comes out from him, but for you? he'll spend hours and hours just so you can get it. and if he makes you smile or laugh in the slightest because of it? it miraculously cures the tiredness that he had endured all day long.

Purpose?
Continuing to celebrate the BartKon Renaissance in the modern era. Since the ship has historically been a rarepair since its conception in the 1990's, this fanweek acts as both a way to celebrate the BartKon narrative in DC Comics, as well as engage new fans in our small yet mighty collective.
Why should we participate in this?
Because you like BartKon. Because you saw fanfiction and fanart and shitposts, and decided you wanted to see what's poppin' in the BartKonosphere. All creators are welcome. Our romcom lovers, the darkfic connoisseurs, and of course, our smut specialists.
So how does it work?
The release date for fanworks is from Monday, the 26th of August through Sunday, the 1st of September, 2024.
You have four months to write, draw, and create fanworks. On top of fanfiction and fanart, we also encourage meta, essays, ship manifestos, playlists, and poetry.
This is also an opportunity for new fans to engage with an old ship with a robust body of work, hence why this fanweek is dedicated only to BartKon depicted in DC Comics from 1994-2024. This is not a YJ-centric week, nor it is a BartKon+third week, nor is it a my-ship-is-better-than-your-ship week. Please be courteous and treat each other with respect when engaging with fanworks and their creators. If you misbehave, I will be cursing you with ten thousand years of bad luck on top of car/train/transportation trouble every day for the rest of your life.
BartKon of ANY comic book universe is acceptable. If you want to spend the entire fanweek exploring Luthor-El and Bart because you love horrific love, then be my guest! If you want a crazed version of Bart to kidnap Kon from Gemworld, go for it! Let that imagination run WILD!!!
Both safe and not-safe-for-tunglr dot hell tropes are welcome. Just make sure that you post any Mature content on a landing page that doesn't restrict Mature content (like AO3). I don’t want anyone getting their blog banned. We cannot defeat our capitalist overlords, but we can definitely work around them.
This fanweek will not have a dedicated blog. These prompts are free for anyone to use. Because it is a non-traditional, non-monetized, and free-to-opt-in casual event, there will be no mods but moi, no advertising of paid services, and no ratings or participant restrictions. I will open a collection on AO3 in August for anyone who wants their work collated for this event.
In order to ensure that both creators and the audience are making informed decisions about what they engage with, all creators are encouraged to include triggers and any other squick warnings.
Please utilize the read-more function for fanworks that are longer than 250 words. We're tryna read yer stories, not get spammed with a wall of text. Please Be Courteous.
And last but not least - if you are engaging with any of the fanworks, reblog, reblog, reblog! Share the work with your followers. Send all the love to the creators for crafting their masterpieces!!
What can I contribute?
Fanart (standalones, comic strips, etc.), fanfiction (one-shots, multichapter, etc.), fanmixes, gifsets, graphics, meme collections, fanvids, ship essays and meta, songifics, playlists, poetry, whatever your heart desires! Go wild!!!
Can I create/write not-safe-for-tunglr dot hell content?
Yes!!! All creators are encouraged to include triggers warnings, sub-genre specifications, and other warnings in their posts. I will not discourage you from writing your 16k Bart Goes Insane Over Kon fic, but please... Be Courteous and tag your fanworks appropriately so people can make an informed decision about what they're comfortable with engaging with.
What does (X) prompt mean?
Each day has three prompts!! You can either pick a prompt OR you can combine prompts in different ways. Although the prompts range from The Basics, to Things That Frighten The Barts and Kons, and end with They're Fucking Nasty in Cissie's Basement Because They Can't Afford a Motel, I challenge you to let your imagination take you where you want to go with each prompt!! If you want to explore all three in the same fanwork, then be my guest!! I will not stop you :'>
Mainstream Canon, Elsewords, and AU content is acceptable! Just make sure to stay within the comicsverse. We have SO MUCH BARTKON MADNESS IN THE COMICS, SO PLAY AROUND WITH OUR BEAUTIFUL CANON!!! Creativity is key! Have fun!!!
Can I crackship/multiship/harem/OT3/polyam the characters?
No. It's literally BartKon Week, Heart & Bones Edition. There's like six active fans left on this bitch of an earth. Don't do this to me :'<
Does this have a tag?
During release week, use the general “bartkon” and "konbart" tags to share your work with the wider BartKon fandom on tunglr. You can use whatever other tags you fancy. The best way to share, however, is to directly @ me so that I may reblog it.
I didn’t read a damn thing before this, Ava.
TL;DR: Nearly four months until the fanweek!!! For all fanwork creators out there, now’s the time to start thinking about what prompts you want to utilize for your creations. There are no creative restrictions, but I do ask that you follow these posting tips:
All fanfiction should be under a read-more.
Not-safe-for-tunglr fanwork should be LINKED to whatever landing site the content is being hosted on (Twitter, AO3, etc). This includes both fanfiction and fanart. I don’t want your blog getting flagged bc tunglr hates gay people.
Provide content warnings for all triggers, squicks, and sub-genres. Unfortunately, in my ten odd years away from DC Comics, the fandom's seen a resurgence in puritanical behavior and tons of censorship and self-censorship. Please list content warnings on your work but do not be discouraged in sharing your work. If a fancop gets on your ass, block them. Please block as MANY as you can. They're like pests, they're always gonna be there, but their influence can be diminished by staunch blocking and reporting.
You can participate as much as you want!! Maybe you only wanna create for one day? Cool! Maybe you’re an overachieving corporate clown insomniac like myself, and wanna create for every day of the week? Go for it!!!
The most important thing is to have fun :)
Closing Remarks
Like all my other events I host, this event, too, is entirely selfish. I've loved BartKon since I was a child when I was first introduced to it in the form of Bart/Clark on Smallville. Although I only recently came back to reading DC's mainline comics, BartKon still holds a special place in my heart even after all these years, and the few who still create and engage in their fanworks inspired me to host a little something-something for our small community.
Take your time, look through the prompts, and get your creative juices flowing! I will be sending out reminders until the go-live date.
For the people who showed interest during the initial interest check, I hope you're able to participate. To the people who hate me, your mom's a hoe. Thank you.

Do you happen have anything that's about food, but in the way that Dungeon Meshi is about food? (defined to me as, classic(TM) adventure but with food as a central feature) Generally food-centric games would be welcome too!
Theme: Dungeon Meshi, Food Adventures.
Hello friend, I am very excited about this week's request! I have some recommendations that have been simmering in the back of my head for a while now - a few of which can be used in the game of your liking!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bakto’s Terrifying Cuisine, by Roll 4 Tarrasque.
"The entrance to the Kitchen Arena appears only to those hungry or foolish enough to find it. Perhaps a dusty pantry in a backwater restaurant, or a forgotten refrigerator in the basement of a busy hotel. The door closes behind you—it never opens again. At the bottom of a long set of pristine stairs, Bakto awaits."
Bakto’s Terrifying Cuisine is primarily an adventure for The Vanilla Game, which is free to play, but it strikes me as pretty system-friendly. You are all responsible for creating a dish for a hungry demon, and are provided with a dungeon map as well as descriptions of what waits for you in each room. The pamphlet also comes with 10 terrifying ingredients and 6 possible treasures, as well as a d6 table of random encounters. There’s so much packed into just 2 pages!
While this is probably only good for a one-shot or a two-shot, I think it’s definitely worth it. If you end up liking this game and want more from the same creator, you can also take a look at To Catch A Hellforged Swine, a system-agnostic adventure about hunting a cursed pig.
Gourmet Street, by theunlawfulneutral.
Gourmet Street is a setting that can be plopped directly into any world or adventure and serves up an extra side of gonzo fantasy. It is populated with street vendors serving every possible food you can conceive as well as a fascinating accoutrements of culinary artifacts, edible monsters, and bizarre dishes.
Another setting rather than game, Gourmet Street is great for OSR games like Knave or The Black Hack, but also works in games such as AD&D. It’s a street vendors’ alley, rife with rival factions and dangerous foods, as well as a series of custom, culinary-related monsters to throw at your players. There’s roll tables for dishes and their effects, as well as some descriptions of major food factions, including their defining characteristics, their advantages and disadvantages, and a quick summary of their values or goals. If you want the culinary process to be stick, dangerous, unpredictable and full of slime, this is the setting for you.
Iera Entera, by Nathan Blades.
In this world, Divine Beasts roam the land. Delivered to us from otherworldly realms, they lord over the grounds they manifest on. They’re incredibly violent, are replaced in mere days after being removed, and are capable of supernatural powers.
They’re also delicious.
This game takes the idea of eating monsters and turns it up to 11. You’re not just eating dungeon creatures - no, you’re hunting down Divine Beasts. The game is split into two sections - working out how to bring the Divine Beast down, and then figuring out how to cook the damn thing. If you are playing with folks who are familiar with Dungeon Meshi, I imagine they would have a lot of fun ideas about how to cook the entrails of a great beast, but there’s also three or four suggested beast hunts in the game itself to get you started.
Cook & Hero, by Raul Fontoura.
You’re an aspiring master cook, in a face off competition amongst worthy rivals to create the perfect dish. Unfortunately, you’re supposed to make it out of scary and scaly monsters in very dangerous underground conditions.
This is another pamphlet game, similar to Bakto’s Terrifying Cuisine, but the tone is very different. In Bakto’s, players are on the clock to satisfy a dangerous enemy. In Cook & Hero, the art conveys a more lighthearted competition, even if your character decides that it’s a matter of life or death. The 2-page game comes with some simple character creation, and the resolution uses a roll-under mechanic with a d10. It feels like it takes a number of cues from Honey Heist, but it’s definitely a distinct game.
Ghastronomy, by Timepool.
You are a ghastronomer, a chef that doesn’t cook for the living— but for the dead. You have been hired to help guide a ghost to the afterlife, by collecting the lost pieces of its soul and cooking ghostly grub to make it whole again.
Alongside your co-workers, you will arrive on the scene and use your cooking credentials and what you learned from each of your ghastronomy schools to find, obtain, and cook a wayward spirit's remaining traces. With proper planning, teamwork, and a little bit of luck—  you might just piece its soul back together before it fades away forever.
Ghastronomy looks fairly easy to learn, with an interesting apron mechanic in which your apron is also a shield. You’ll also probably all have different styles of cooking, as each character will come from a different culinary school. If you like the idea of cooking for more than just survival, and you want to incorporate the paranormal into your game, this might be for you!
Lutong Banwa, by Sinta Posadas / Diwata Ng Manila.
Lutong Banwa is a cooking game, where you set out to adventure and find ingredients from Spirits and recipes from old civilizations. Embark on this anti-canon storygame adventure with its own custom system and play to find out just what sort of zany adventures you can get up to in this weird, wild world. Do whatever you want.
Lutong Banwa feels like a cozier game than some of the others on this list, and I enjoy the perspective it brings to the genre. You are playing tamale, the successors of the earth after Humans have faded to history, trying to replicate old world dishes. Your characters will use a number of different-sided dice, depending on which stats they use, and what strengths they have. Rather than character death, your characters simply have a limited number of chances to complete a task before they are forced to rest for a day or so. Altogether the game encourages creative thinking and playing outside the box. I think this is an extremely charming game and you absolutely should check it out.

Entropic Float 2 Demo and Kickstarter Launch!
Tumblr media
Picture a point-and-click adventure game. Now picture a branching, time-looping ontological mystery visual novel. Entropic Float 2 combines those into its gameplay concept: A point-and-click where you can never solve every puzzle at once. Where you have one key that fits two locks... And the only way to see what's behind the lock you didn't choose is to die, repeat the day, and try something different this time. With only you and your protagonist aware of the loop, seek an answer that earns new information. Through trial and error, solutions and murder... Can you find the way through this new Anomaly?
In early 2021, I started working on a project just for fun. Using the character creator and scene assembly tools of Illusion's Koikatsu, paired with the visual novel engine ren'py, I decided to learn to make a VN. A year and a half, over three hundred thousand words, and quite a bit of pocket money later, I released 'Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear' for free on steam and itch.io.
Something that was never meant to be more than a fun exploration of a concept grew into a huge endeavor for me, a visual novel as long as any two Umineko episodes combined! I got guest artists, made plenty of art myself, and learned a lot more about coding in ren'py than I ever thought I would. After releasing the game, my friends were proud of me, and I've heard from a lot of people it connected with. It became the basis of what I want to keep doing creatively- Expanding on this world, telling its story, and finding those people it will resonate with.
That brings us to Entropic Float 2: Land Of The Witch. A sequel I've been planning since the first game released a little over a year ago now. It's a game that can't be free (though if you, for any reason, cannot purchase it- I care more about sharing it than I do about making money) and a game I want to create to that standard. There won't be assets made in a character creator or royalty free music this time. I hope to bring the Pine Creek Anomaly to the screen with my own two hands, and a little bit of help from freelancers. I want to make a point-and-click adventure worth paying fifteen dollars for, an artistic experience that constitutes a huge step up from the first game.
Tumblr media
A demo is available to download and play from itch.io! Features already reflected in the demo include:
The general structure of the point-and-click gameplay; including travel between maps, item collection and use, and conversations with other characters.
Hand-drawn backgrounds (with minor animations) and talksprites.
Profile screens for each character and a memory-seeking system improved from the first game. Also improved from the first game is exposition being mainly in a linear-locked part of the story so it doesn't need to be repeated in different places so different players don't get confused!
Tumblr media
Planned features yet to be implemented include:
Loop Randomization- The demo includes only the very first loop of the story, but in the actual timelooping gameplay, many factors will be randomized between loops. Characters and items will appear and disappear, characters will have different trustworthiness scores, and eventually, the weather will even change and impact puzzles and character behaviors.
Zones- Minigame areas that abstractly inform you more about a character and are locked behind obtaining certain profile notes and memories. The rewards for completing zones will be tools to access additional areas, such as Area 2 waiting beyond the broken bridge.
Characters- Several of EF2's characters don't appear yet in the demo, due to having their introductions tied to maps that aren't accessible in Area 1.
General Improvements- Characters currently only have one talksprite. The preferences page is still in the ren'py default configuration. Some music tracks recycled from the first game aren't the best fit for the situation. These are all things that relate to the current version being a demo. These are all things that will improve sooner if this kickstarter is a success.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shortly after handling the Anomalous Clocktower in the Black Rock Desert, Kanatsune Ame was promoted. Now, as an agent of the Wish Task Force at a rank equipped to handle more complex Anomalies, he's received an assignment for another one above his pay grade. Pine Creek, an entire town that was wiped from the map and from all memory several years ago, only to suddenly begin dragging new victims inside within the last few months... Somebody inside this forgotten piece of miserable Americana decided to call out to the world that left it behind, and it's up to you to find out who that could be.

Exploration of the now-offline Far Cry 5 official websites
Part 2: Game Info 1 (America)
Recovered content
Here are screenshots of what we could find on the official American website on May 27th, 2017, between an invitation to watch the Announce Trailer, some news, and a link to pre-order Far Cry 5 (which, at the time, was scheduled to come out on February 27th, 2018). For the first time, there was information about the game:
Tumblr media
THE CULT Whether through coercion, starvation or forced baptisms, this fanatical cult will use every resource available to build a following in preparation of The Collapse.
Tumblr media
THE RESISTANCE Committed to restoring freedom to Hope County, The Resistance has rallied together in order to stop the Father and his followers. And they’ll only succeed with your help.
Tumblr media
TOYS From shotguns to slingshots, plus a few trusty farm tools, this toy chest is stocked, locked and loaded with every piece of steel you’ll need to take down the Cult.
Tumblr media
GAME FEATURES There's no shortage of mayhem to be had in Hope County. Whether taking down the cult solo or with a wingman, you’ll find adventure around every bend – not to mention some seriously boss rides. Build your character and carve your path through the largest, most customizable Far Cry game ever.
Between June 10th and June 17th, 2017, two of the images (for The Cult and Toys) were replaced:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The text, however, stayed the same, and the appearance of the homepage remained unchanged until it was modified sometime between May 1st and June 10th, 2018. The Game Info section then looked like this:
Tumblr media
ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. EVERYTHING WILL. Game Info: Discover The Weapons, Vehicles, and Features of Far Cry 5. Story & Characters: Hope County has been taken over by a doomsday cult. Join the Resistance and restore freedom to Hope County! Far Cry Arcade: Jump into Far Cry Arcade and enjoy infinite Far Cry experiences built by a robust community of creators. Far Cry 5 Season Pass: Face off against hordes of zombies, ruthless Vietcong soldiers, and Martian Arachnids with the Season Pass.
This is what we got if we clicked “Learn More” for Game Info (I split the page into 4 parts):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. EVERYTHING WILL. Welcome to Hope County, Montana, land of the free and the brave, but also home to a fanatical doomsday cult—known as The Project at Eden’s Gate—that is threatening the community's freedom. Stand up to the cult’s leaders, Joseph Seed and the Heralds, as you spark the fires of resistance that will liberate the besieged community. Join the Resistance now with Far Cry 5. Available now on PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One, and PC. STORY & CHARACTERS You’re the new Sheriff’s Deputy in town. The only problem is, your badge is pretty much useless. Cut off from the outside world, you’ll need to use your wits, willpower and the helping hands of Hope County’s townsfolk to remove the plague that is The Project at Eden’s Gate. TOYS Your arsenal is vast, and the way you wield it even more so. Throughout your campaign, you’ll gain access to weapons mods based on the folks you meet and progress you make. GAME FEATURES Far Cry 5 is a massive gameplay arena that’s filled with something new around every bend. The enemy AI behavior is more realistic, and the exploration is endless. Even when you feel like taking a break from the campaign, you can take in some leisurely fishing before diving back into your quest. It’s your mission. With it comes to freedom to take on a world that hits back by any means necessary. RALLY THE TROOPS THE RESISTANCE NEEDS YOU There’s no better time than now to start rallying your cult-fighting friends, dialing in your arsenal and planning your strategy to take back Hope County from Eden’s Gate.
What I mostly wanted to “Learn More” about were the Story & Characters, but there was interesting information on the Game Features page as well.
Commentary
The initial description of the cult said the “coercion, starvation or forced baptisms” were ways for them to “build a following in preparation of The Collapse”. This is still close to what we see in Far Cry 5, but they already had a following when the Reaping began and the open violence started. The vast majority of the cultists we encounter in the game joined because they had faith in Joseph, not because they were forced to. NPC dialog from the E3 2017 demo suggests, like this text, that the early version of Eden’s Gate wouldn’t hesitate to literally beat people into following and believing in the Father long before the Reaping began.
Under the cut are all the available source files, saved directly from the website, of the images you see in the screenshots:

conveying feelings the color of chalk
✧˚ · . just how your writing carefully brought two characters of completely different fates together, you brought the chalk prince to your world of ornate feelings.
- characters: albedo x reader
– notes: fluff, writer/artist reader, fanboy albedo lol
It was a complete coincidence that Albedo stumbled upon your debut novel.
He made it a habit to go to Liyue every couple months to buy the novel Xingqiu had finally got published. Klee seemed interested in the pictures he worked on, but he had to admit that it was nice remembering the things they worked on whenever he went back to re-read them.
He managed to slip out of Monstadt without much repercussions to make the trip to Liyue Harbor. Based on Xingqiu's letters and the art he drew, this publication centered around the hero getting lost in a foreign land– forced to start again after failing his previous goal. At least, that was how he interpreted it.
His plan was to go straight to Liyue Harbor, purchase the book and go straight back home. But a certain novel laying alone on the counter caught his eye enough to slightly alter his plans.
The cover was a loose watercolor painting, though each stroke was placed so carefully, it told as many stories as half of the novels he read. He would buy it to study the artists' techniques, he decided. After all, it wasn't like he was short on mora.
"Ah, you're lucky you managed to get that." The shop owner – who he had learned was called Jifang – said. "The author was here a while ago to debut. That should be the last of the signed copies we have on hand."
"Is that so?" Albedo asked, examining the inside to sure enough, find a quickly written signature of the author's name on the first blank page. "Do you recommend it, then?"
"I haven't read it entirely yet." Jifang responded, counting his change and writing down notes on a clipboard. "But the art is certainly something I've barely seen in debut novels."
In the next few days, Ms. Jifang proved herself to be correct. The illustrations sprinkled into the pages felt freeing, yet was clear enough to bring life to the story woven together. Both the pictures and the word choice made it clear it was a story about romance. Normally, he would have little interest in a love story about two star-crossed lovers, but he couldn't help but turn the page. And then another... And another...
Before he knew it, he had finished the novel and was staring at the back cover of the book.
'Fascinating,' he thought to himself. 'this story completely captured my attention, despite the genre being out of my interest.'
... Yes, if something interested him, it was necessary to figure out why and how.
Alchemy, while it wasn't simple by any means, followed the same base stages in order to create something. His master taught him that clearly. The roundabout way the author explained human feelings simply left him breathless. The story wasn’t exactly about falling in love with another... But falling in love with another that represented the truest hopes and dreams: non-tangible things that were difficult, almost impossible to bring to the real world, even through alchemy.
The fact that he thought as long as he did about this novel made him think, he didn’t think anyone could really be a “genius,” by any means, but if he had to name someone close to it, then it had to be the creator of this particular story.
Albedo spoke the name of the novelist written on the cover with a fine calligraphy pen, his voice a whisper along the evening wind of Monstadt. On that night, the Chalk Prince couldn't recall when the last time he felt so much.
The months following his purchase, he overheard multiple criticisms about the story he found so beautiful. Over-complicating the simple, was the most prevalently brought up. He supposed it was the same case as Xingqiu's stories. He found the slightly stiff words fitting for the story and the nature of his friend. He was poised and chivalrous, just like the character he created and the theme he chose. He let his mind wander for a moment. What kind of person was his dearest novelist? What world did they live in? It would delight him to perform a face-to-face experiment.
And by some twist of fate, an opportunity arrives.
Posted on the Adventurer's Guild bulletin board: a very specific commission.
'If anyone is okay with telling me all their feelings honestly for my research, please come to see me right outside Mondstadt's inn. Willing to pay five thousand mora and will discuss more details then!'
And under it, written in a fine calligraphy pen, the same name he looked for every time he went back to the Wanwen Book House. The author he had to thank for how he understood being human.
Social interaction did require a lot of work, so he barely found the need to accept commissions that involved speaking to others, if any at all. But this was completely different. It was for research, a learning process for his future collaborations with Xingqiu.
... Yes, research purposes.
Now, he could say all he wanted that he didn't feel any sort of way when he saw you sitting on a seat outside the inn, painting a portrait with watercolors, but the slight catch of his breath was noticeable to anyone close enough to him to see whenever he strayed from his usually mysterious and composed image.
Your simple movements were captivating, every splash of paint on the canvas was even more impressive than the illustrations in your books. Your eyes when you finally spotted him staring, and your smile, goodness, what was he going to do with himself?
A lovesick fool, that's what he had become. His master would be incredibly disappointed in him if she ever found out, but he could surely run this experiment for a little longer...
"Albedo... Yes, Chief Editor has talked about your work." You said, twirling the paintbrush effortlessly in your hand. "The Kreideprinz, no? It's a pleasure to meet you in person."
"Ah, likewise. I'm quite intrigued your light novel. It's very impressive for a debut."
The pink that dusted your cheeks was coincidentally the same color of the paint you were holding. Seemingly realizing this, you turned away, wiping the paint off your hands and composing yourself before turning back to the alchemist.
"Thank you for that. Now, for my commission..." You grabbed a notepad. "I want to know about you. Tell me what happened today, or your worries, fears, plan for the future..."
"May I ask what this information will be used for?" Albedo asked, taking a seat in front of you.
"Ah– Yes, my apologies. I write my stories based off the feelings of others. I like to think I help them sort out their feelings." You explained. "Besides, their stories are far more fascinating than someone who stays indoors writing and drawing all day."
Interesting. So his dear novelist's stories were from the minds of someone else? The discovery made him quite curious; what kind of feelings did you hold that you deemed not fascinating enough to be included in your own novel? He had to stop his thoughts soon before he thought of inviting you to his workshop. In truth, you were far too enticing. He did miss turning the unknown into the known.
But for now, he answered your inquiry.
"About me? Well... You have completely captured my attention, dear novelist. And I would be more than happy to tell you why and how."

marigolds - grief
The next four years were some of the hardest for both of you. First, Grandad passed away in October. As the Autumn leaves continued to fall and crunch under your boots, you walked home from secondary school. By now, you were familiar with the mile trek and enjoyed the music from your new phone. Humming along to the song, you walked up the hill to your home. However, you immediately paused your music when you saw the ambulance in front of the elderly Garrick's home. From the distance, you could see Nana crying with your mum holding her in her arms. On the cot, you saw Grandad being placed in. The lack of emergency lights and sirens broke your heart further as you knew they weren't in any rush to the hospital. You broke into a sprint and made your way to the somber scene. The next few hours moved in a blur as your mother said he had died from a heart attack in the kitchen around 2. You spent the remainder of the afternoon with Nana, making tea and berry scones.
It was late that night when you saw headlights coming up the hill and soon another car pull into the driveway. You knew who it was. Kyle walked out, eyes puffy with tears, along with his mum and his dad, who you only met on a few occasions due to his work schedule. You unlocked the door for them and pulled Kyle into a hug. You both cried as Grandad had been one for both you and him. He was the original creator of your shared journal and would always make an effort to see you playing outside or having lunch. Kyle's mum went over to Nana and gave her a long hug. As Nana cried, you saw the silent, glistening tears on his mum's face. That was her dad, someone who had raised her to value family and encouraged Kyle to spend his summers in Worcestershire. Your mum and Kyle's dad made their way to the kitchen, getting refreshments and tissues for the Garrick family. As you held Kyle in your arms, you whispered you were here for him through it all.
The funeral was small, with your families on one side and some of the local townspeople and merchants on the other. Your family provided the flower arrangements, free of charge and the parlor was filled with elegant bouquets requested from family friends who couldn't make it. Kyle's mum gave a beautiful eulogy describing how her father would always be in his workshop, presenting her with handcrafted toys and eventually bags when she became older. She described how her father would have calloused hands and she would rub her mum's shea butter on his palms and worn digits. As she concluded, she kissed her father's casket and said, "Rest now, Dad. You'll have all the time in the world in your workshop in the sky." With that, the pallbearers with Kyle in front, took the casket to the burial ground.
It was a small plot of land reserved for him and Nana. A large weeping willow stood above you. Mourning you thought, page 64 in your journal. The crowd was silent as the gentle breeze lowered some hanging dead leaves onto the headstone. Grandad had designed a simple one for them both with his recipe for his famous lemonade inscribed on the back. As they lowered him, you held Kyle's hand tightly. You began to lose circulation but you didn't care as you were here for your best friend. The crowd began to clear only leaving you, Kyle, his parents, and Nana. Your mum returned with a small bouquet of rosemary (remembrance) and took her side next to Nana. Nana hummed an old hymn, the Garricks weren't religious but the elder Garricks loved music. Your mum looked at you and signaled to offer the family some privacy. You gave Kyle a reassuring pat on his hand and turned to walk away with your mother, back to the empty homes.
No one was surprised when Nana passed away about a year later. Her eyesight was so poor she couldn't read any of her recipe books. Not that she would need to, after Grandad passed she lost all motivation to cook as there was no one she could recount her travels with. Your mum and you helped out when you could, making meals for her, accompanying her for afternoon tea, and even making the trip up to Manchester so she could see one of Kyle's track meets. However, when she stopped leaving the house, you knew it was time. You held up your phone on FaceTime as Kyle told his Nan all about his recent achievements and how he had made some of her recipes at home. The Garricks would be coming this evening to be with Nana in her final moments. After a long time, Kyle hung up and you placed your phone in your pocket. You held Nana's hand and let some tears fall. She raised her other hand and wiped your tears with a shaking hand.
"Love, don't cry I'll be with Grandad soon and we'll be the best chefs in heaven," she whispered and you couldn't help but cry harder.
"I know, I know, but what will Kyle and I do without you?" you asked, not attempting to hide that you were now fully sobbing.
"Y/N, I have seen you and Kyle grow into fine young people. We watched you grow from shy, curious kids into mature young adults. Do you know that Grandad and I used to say you reminded you of us? Except in reverse, Grandad loved his trade and I wanted to see the world but at the end of the day, I still ended up back with him." she recounted, a glimmer in her eye as she remembered her late husband.
"Now, Y/N, I know he has some great ambitions but I know you'll both look out for each other. Baby's breath, everlasting love," she continued, "a smart young girl told me that once before dropping a bouquet on our dinner table."
She gave a small chuckle and closed her eyes to rest. You kissed the back of her hand and sat in the kitchen, writing out for your mum what flowers would be needed at the funeral. You listed out some familiar ones and blossoms that Nana specially requested.
Your tears fell on the paper as you wrote out poppy (eternal rest), primrose (sadness), Michaelmas daisy (farewell), hyacinth (sorrow), marigold (grief), and Nana's request of dahlias (eternal love). As you finished, you wiped your tears off the page in an attempt not to soak it anymore. You carefully read over your shaky handwriting as you heard the door unlock. You saw Kyle's dad give you a solemn wave and was followed by his wife and son. The minute you saw Kyle's puffy face, you knew you couldn't do this. Before anyone could say anything, you rushed out of the kitchen door to your room. Your tears continued to fall as you could hear a broken Kyle try to call out your name hoarsely.
Your mum came into your room that night and let you know she had passed. As you cried into her shoulder, she gently stroked your hair and whispered that this was a new beginning for them, together in a better place. That night you don't know when you went to bed but as you slowly opened your eyes to see the sunlight peering in, your heart was broken into a million pieces knowing that two of your favorite people were gone.
The funeral was on a surprisingly warm November day. You sat in your bedroom in a simple black dress, trying to keep your makeup from running. Your room was a mess with clothes and dying flowers but you didn’t care. You pulled out a compact mirror to make yourself presentable as the funeral was in a few hours. As you adjusted your smudged eyeliner a soft knock at your door drew your attention. There stood Kyle, dressed in a sharp black suit with a flower in his lapel, he was 14 now but looked so aged from the last two year's events. You focused on his face noticing the bags around his puffy eyes and his nose red from crying. “These were her favorites,” he said, gesturing to the flower, sweet peas for delicate pleasures in life.
“I know,” you laughed slightly, “She always had me bring those over once they bloomed or the shop got some in. She loved the pink and white ones the most.” With the last word, your voice cracked and you stifled a sob. There would be no more bouquet deliveries to their house anymore.
“Can I sit?” he asked and you made room on your bed. He laid down next to you, his head tilting slightly so you could see how he glowed in the early morning light. “I don’t know if I can do this, Y/N,” he said and you could hear a crack in his voice.
You lay down next to him and held his hand tightly. “You know she’d be so proud of you,” you started, “she would look at you in front of that whole crowd and say, ‘That’s my Kyle.’”
You tried to reassure him but you could see some tears begin to fall. You pulled him against you, holding him in your arms as he cried into your comforter. You sat like that for hours, occasional sobs rippling through his body. You held on to him as if your life depended on it, trying to angle your tears away from his suit jacket. He was too tall to have you spooning him like this but it provided you both comfort. He held your arms tightly as he described some of his earlier memories with them before spending the summers here.
You hummed as he described how, when he was born, they would watch YouTube videos to learn how to style his unruly hair. He went into a long story about how Nana read him stories about her adventures in Asia, how she rode an elephant in Thailand while a flight was delayed.
“She would have loved to see me in my uniform,” he whispered through sobs. Kyle had been relentlessly communicating with the recruitment office, showing an expressed interest to enlist at 16. His bookshelves were filled with manuals and drills, and he even procured a military code of conduct.
“Well, you’ll have to visit her, Officer Garrick,” you spoke. “You should talk to her and Granddad and tell them of all your accomplishments and how you soared through the ranks as a brave little soldier boy.”
“This is a big ask but do you think when I’m giving her eulogy, you could stand there with me?” he asked, “You can say no but I don’t think I can do this.”
You lightly kissed the top of his head and reiterated your promise to stay by his side through it all.
Eventually, your mum summoned you both to the cemetery. You walked out hand and hand with Kyle as the line of cars appeared outside your house with the hearse leading the way. His dad beckoned his son and you walked to their car, holding his hand the entire way.
Kyle’s eulogy was beautiful. As the ceremony approached the fateful moment, you could feel his feet tapping on the home's wood floor. You whispered to him, "It'll be okay, I'll be right there with you." Finally, he was summoned to the front. As the crowd of family and friends quieted, he gripped your shoulders tightly and guided you both to the front.
"Um hi, I'm Kyle, for those of you who don't know," he started and got a small laugh from the crowd. "My grandparents, Nana and Grandad as they liked to be called, were some of the kindest people you could ever meet in life. When I was younger, they took me into their home and taught me everything I needed to know. My first word was 'aviation', something that Nana taught me while she told her stories about traveling," he paused and you could see his eyes start to water. "I just know she wished to take me to all the places she went. I couldn't blame her. If I was able to walk across the desert on a camel, I would want to take someone else there too," the crowd laughed and his parents looked at their son, proudly. "When I told her I would see the world through the army, she joked, 'That's perfect! No more long haircuts to manage' and asked me to send her a postcard no matter where I went." At this, Kyle was now fully in tears and you too felt your face become wet with your own. "I, uh, know that she won't get to read them but I hope she knows that I'll tell my kids about all of her adventures and add some of mine less interesting ones in there. I love you Nana and Grandad and hope you too are making some good food wherever you are."
Later, your mum would tell you there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd after Kyle spoke. Somehow in your flood of tears, you were able to make it to the cemetery with the rest of the processional. As you stood in front of the gathering of people, you looked around to see the flower arrangements. You were enraged when you saw the golden marigolds in an ornate wreath. The language of flowers frustrated you, how could something so bright and so intertwined with happy memories be connected to grief? From the lemonade to your birthday to this, you couldn’t stand the sight of them. You wanted to walk over there and rip them down, erasing any memory of Nana’s passing.
Once Grandad and Nana had passed, Kyle solemnly visited. How could you blame him? The house was filled with memories of them and sadness. You would text and call every few weeks but it was clear his training for selection was taking precedence. He would send pictures occasionally at the gym and you could see him gaining muscle and becoming broader. You simply replied with a 'looking good!' and a snap of you with your latest floral order. You had been working part-time managing your mum's florist shop and the online store, you eventually wanted to go to Oxford and knew you needed the money.
In December, a month after Nana’s passing, a family with a teenage daughter and a boy on the way moved into the Garrick’s home. When you saw the moving truck, you went over to introduce yourself. You brought a bouquet of wisterias, something you had done years ago. The family was introduced and you met their daughter, Delilah, Lila for short. She was 16 and had decided to work instead of continuing to a university. Her family described her as an avid herbalist, frequently brewing teas and creating her sachets. That’s how she ended up working in your family floral shop with you and your mother. She was a quick learner, carrying around a notepad to write down every instruction and flower she came across. You became friends over the months but nothing could replace Kyle.
Kyle had his own life in Manchester. As you continued with school and working with Lila, you would constantly see Kyle posting on his socials. By early January, you had recognized a pretty girl making reoccurring appearances. You had your suspicions and these were confirmed with him posting a pic lightly kissing her forehead.
By now, the recent deaths had made you realize that you were content with just being Kyle's summer friend. You no longer held resentment over your unrequited love. You texted him and typed, "Let me know if you'd like me to send something for St. Valentines! You know I'd make your girl a meaningful bouquet." You placed your phone down, smiling at his contact picture. During the summer after Year 8, Kyle picked up two daisies and placed them in front go his eyes. You couldn't help but laugh. After you snapped a picture, you wrote Innocence in your journal along with a daisy-plucked petal. Remembering that moment, you understood why children would take daisy petals and play effeuiller la marguerite (he loves me, he loves me not game). As you finished your coursework, you could hear the landline ring. You knew your mother was out at work so you picked up the phone.
On the other line the solemn, female voice spoke, "Hi this is the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, am I speaking to Mrs. L/N?" This was odd as you hadn't remembered your mum having any recent appointments or tests.
"No sorry this is her daughter, can I take a message for her?" you asked, twirling the cord of the phone in your hand.
"I require her in person. If she is available today, I'll be in my office at 6 pm. This is Dr. Sanderson if she asks. She should know where my office is." With that, the woman hung up the phone and you quickly grabbed yours to call your mum.
You saw you had a text from Kyle but ignored it to immediately dial her. When you told her the urgent message, she said to meet her at the florist shop and you both would drive to the hospital.
You walked amongst the puddles of melted snow, saying a silent prayer to Grandad and Nana. Your mother told you once that when her husband died, the phone call she received was similar. Her heart had dropped upon hearing it was from the hospital, knowing he was on his way from work and you were safe in your crib. That feeling resonated through you, Dahlilas instability.
Within 10 minutes you made it to your destination and saw your mother turning the sign on the shop. She motioned for you to come around back to the car and you walked with her, a hand around her waist.
The drive was silent as you made your way to the sterile appearing hospital. She parked and you ascended the lift to Dr. Sanderson's office. Your mother went in first and pulled out the chair next to her for you.
That day the hospital was filled with your agonizing screams. Dr. Sanderson told your mum that her recent X-ray and blood work confirmed the presence of cancer. "Stage 4," she softly said as your mum gripped your hand tighter, "we will do whatever we can but I'll be honest with you, the prognosis does not look good."
You couldn't lose your mum, she was the only one you had left. There was no next of kin and you knew the foster system would take you in as you were not yet 16. As your mum assessed her options, you hugged her as if your life depended on it. She sent you out into the hallway to discuss the treatment plan and you sunk to the floor in defeat.
She emerged soon after, a pained look on her face and tears in her eyes. "Let's go home, sweetheart," she said, voice breaking and you descended to your car.
As you tried to process everything happening, you completely disregarded Kyle's text saying,
"thanks, flower girl! i think i'm good though, i can handle it for her :) you taught me a thing or two about the language of flowers."
In the spring, your mum started therapy. Lila promised to manage the shop more frequently as you accompanied your mother to her appointments. You would bring all your flower books to read to her as she laid down to receive another round of chemotherapy.
"Really, I didn't know that oats meant 'the witching soul of music'" she said hoarsely. "That's what the book says, must be one you haven't read" you replied and smiled back at her. You couldn't help but feel nauseous as you saw the IV slowly trickle the drug into her arm. She looked so weak, beginning to lose her hair and her color.
"Hey now, look at me," she said, noting your distracted gaze, "read me the next one, sweetheart." And like that, the cold winter months continued into spring then summer then back to the month when you first learned of her diagnosis. It had gone by like a blur, holidays were spent in the hospital, and without your summer routine, you spent all of your time with your mum. You made it through 12 books by the time your mother finished the first round of treatment. They said they'd give it time before seeing how she was doing and continuing. "Promising news," the doctors had told you both. By all accounts, it did look positive. You were able to enjoy your last summer before sixth form and had been working full-time managing the shop and handling orders while your mum rested. She was far too weak to handle carrying buckets of flowers around, so she primarily napped and would read when you weren't home. You made an effort to sit her by the window so she could see the growing flowers in the garden and wave to the neighbors passing.
After a long day of wedding preparations, you waved Lila goodbye and entered your home. However, something was different. You could hear two voices laughing in the living room. As you rounded the corner, you saw Kyle sitting on the loveseat across from your mother. You hadn't seen him in months. By now, he was 16 and looked like a soldier. You couldn't believe the amount of training he had put in to prepare for enlistment. He just looked so different, blooming like a cattleya orchid mature charms.
"Kyle, I didn't expect to see you here," you exclaimed and embraced your old friend tightly. "He came by this afternoon but told me not to rush you out of the flower shop," your mother joked as you held him close. "I've missed you," you whispered. "Me too."
As you caught up, your mother looked at you both lovingly. You discussed your new school in September along with your accomplishments with Lila at the shop. In return, Kyle entertained you with his relationship that had fizzled out, "she told me I was at the gym too much," he joked. He even mentioned how he was going to join the famed Special Air Service. "I've been training and I think I can get the fastest times, just have to wait until I'm 18." As you marveled at his ambitious nature, you could hear your mum snoring softly in her chair.
"If it's alright with you, I packed a bag to stay over. I'll be leaving for the AFC in September so I won't see you for a while, flower girl," he asked and pointed to a neatly packed duffle. You shook your head in agreement and slowly led him to your bedroom.
"This place has not changed since I was last here," he joked as he looked around at your books and dried bouquets. "Haven't had much time to add things," you replied, plainly.
"Y/N, why didn't you tell me she was sick?" he asked and you turned towards him. You knew the answer but couldn't bring yourself to accuse him of not being there for you. "I knew you were preparing for assessment and there wasn't much you could do besides worry," you replied quietly, sitting on the bed. Kyle joined next to you and held your hand. "I could've been there for you," he whispered back. Like that, you were defeated and could help by crying deeply into his chest. He held you and tried to soothe your wails but you let out all the pent-up sadness inside you. Eventually, your tears came to a stop and he felt your chest slowly rise and fall into slumber. "I love you," he whispered, knowing you couldn't hear him.
The next day, he left and you held each other for what felt like hours. "Promise me you'll call when you can?" you asked through your tears. "I will, take care of yourself, okay?" he said as he kissed your forehead. You and your mum waved goodbye as Kyle walked to town to catch the next bus home. Little did you know, this would be your last time seeing him.
"Mum, I'm home," you called. The beginning of September heat coated the air and you took off your apron, dusted in pollen and cut stems. It was quiet but you assumed your mother was resting. You stepped around the vases filled with bouquets, all with a similar sentiment 'to stay well and live a long healthy life.' You crept through the house, trying not to wake her. However, as you approached the kitchen you could see spilled soup splattered on the walls. As you rushed to assess the scene, you saw your mother laying on the ground, surrounded by a shattered bowl and a flower clutched in her hand.
Somehow, you managed to call an ambulance and were sitting with her in a hospital. She was hooked up to so many machines and her breathing was shallow. You stayed there for many sleepless nights with Lila's family bringing you food and encouraging you to sleep every so often. You tried to will everything in the universe to get her to wake up, you just wanted to hear her voice again and talk about the flower language she was fluent in. Her hands were cold as you held them and begged for her just to open her eyes, one last time.
September 18th was the day you lost her. You never learned why she was holding a flower in her hand. But when you researched what the yellow petals of a cinquefoil were, you could help but sob. My beloved daughter, they signified and you silently cursed your mother's secret message.
Your mum knew her time was fast approaching and presented a detailed plan to Delilah's family. She wanted a small funeral, no frills, no eulogy, just a ceremony to see her off. She made arrangements to be cremated and turned into a chrysanthemum bushel, cheerfulness under adversity. She only left you with one task: prepare the arrangements.
You threw yourself into the florist shop and did the best you could with the end-of-summer harvest. You managed to bundle bouquets of cosmos (joy in love and life), rosemary (remembrance), Michaelmas daisy (farewell), poppy (eternal rest), and hyacinth (sorrow) all wrapped in moss (maternal love). No one dared to bother you as you went about your work, with every flower placed came a flood of tears and you were a mess.
That night, you slowly wrapped yourself in one of her sweaters a laid in your bed. You tried to place numerous calls to Kyle but eventually knew he was unable to be reached. You assumed training had begun and they were given limited access. You decided to call his mum, a woman you respected and truly needed at this time. As you held the phone to your damp face, you heard her pick up. "Y/N sweetie, what's going on?" she asked sweetly. You couldn't hold it in, you cried and she knew what had happened. "Well be over soon, love, don't you worry," and she hung up, leaving you alone in the empty house.
Unlike when Nana and Grandad died, it poured into the countryside. Kyle's parents had packed up to stay the next couple of days through the burial and constantly checked in on you. You refused to eat and couldn't bear to look at her room. You spent most of your days practically catatonic as Mrs. Garrick held you tightly on the couch. Seconds went by like days and soon Delilah was at your door telling you it was time.
The trip to the crematorium was met with flooding streets and the sickening cracking of lightning. Per your mother's wishes, only you, Kyle, and Delilah's family were there. You saw they had prepared your mother's body and had transported your bouquets for her. She lay there, in a plain shirt and her overalls surrounded by flowers. She looked like Ophelia in that one painting, so beautiful and with a smile on her face. As you looked at your mother, you stroked her cold face and whispered that you loved her. You then placed a yellow jasmine bunch in her hands, the first language of love. You took one last look at your lovely mother, wanting to hold her tightly and thank her for the wonderful 16 years she had given you. As you felt Delilah's hand on your shoulder, you knew it was time. Mr. Garrick held you into his chest as they began the process of cremation. Your sobs drowned and gasps for air out the crackling sounds of the fire that put your mother to eternal rest. You crumbled to your knees when they whispered it was over and you were carried to the car. As the cold rainwater met your face, you realized you were now truly alone.

zinnia - thoughts of absent friends
It took you two weeks to return to school. You were gaunt and tired, not caring what anyone thought of you. Delilah's mum offered to drive you, saying she would pick you up in the afternoon. You entered the halls and greeted your teacher who gave you a comforting smile. As you sat in your seat, you tuned out the world and threw yourself into your studies.
Your mother was smart and had made all the preparations for you following her passing. The house and sixth form had been paid off and she gave careful instructions to Delilah's dad to help you pay for utilities, manage the shop, and take care of yourself. The bills were put in their name and they provided a weekly allowance for yourself, something both your late parents had prepared for you. While you appreciated their kindness, it was difficult. You felt like you were constantly drowning. You ignored the constant texts from Kyle's parents and only opened the door when it was Delilah bringing over food and making sure you had done your work for the day. Whenever you finished dinner and your schoolwork, you slept and tried to fill the emptiness inside you.
Sixth form was a blur. You made a few friends but primarily spent your time studying or working on university applications. When the December frost coated the air, you received a text from Kyle. "I am so sorry. I wish I could've been there for you. Tell you what, I have 8 weeks of leave and you could spend the holidays with us!' you read. You couldn't bear to spend time with another family when you had just lost your one. Maybe it was too harsh but you replied, "I'm doing okay, I would just like to be alone. Take care and Happy Holidays!" You hoped he read that with enthusiasm as you cocooned yourself in a blanket, preparing to sleep the holidays away.
Delilah's family understood your request and came over the next few days to deliver food as well as presents. You cracked a fake smile when they knocked on the door to present you with the items. As Lila handed you a fresh tray of food, she brought a variety of things in for you. Amongst the decorative packaging was a parcel from the Garricks. You gestured for her to put it in the living room and said you would get to it later. Before she parted she said, "You should open the box, it's from Kyle. Also here, my family thought you would like this," and she handed you a small note. On it, an address had been scribbled. "This is where they planted the chrysanthemum bush, father says it should be blooming in the spring. It's by the weeping willow tree," and you knew exactly where it was, your mother lied with the Garricks. You shook your head and thanked her. "Take care of yourself, just know we're always here for you," with that Lila was gone, trudging across the cold snowy lawn.
You lay directly on the carpet and wished you were better. You wished you were happier, that grief hadn't affected you like it had. You wished Kyle was here and that you had taken his stupid offer to see him. You let your tears fall freely as you thought of zinnias, thoughts of absent friends.

Introducing Dextra
Like many gamers, it has long been a goal of mine to develop and publish my own game, to add a minute something to the fabric of our culture, but especially to the hobby which I have enjoyed for a very long time. At long last, through a confluence of self-determination, assistance from friends, and an environment more friendly to independent publishing than any yet, the time for that dream is now. It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the my first role-playing game, Dextra.
Tumblr media
What is Dextra? It is a very rules-light narrative-focused tabletop RPG. It is designed for players who are most interested in a game system that helps them structure telling stories, not crunching numbers and trying to figure out optimal builds. In fact, telling a good story is the only objective and "win" condition in Dextra. Even if the land is ravished, the villain escapes and the heroes perish, if the table tells a satisfying tale, the table wins.
How does Dextra play? Dextra is designed for casual players (even if they do take their stories very seriously!), and is intended to address one of the biggest problems I personally have had with tabletop gaming over the years: rules bloat and accessibility. There is only one hard rule in Dextra: every facet of the game (including contributions of the players) must be subservient to the story at hand. Between the 15 pages of basic guidelines and 65 pages of support materials, there are many recommendations of how to proceed, but you are free and encouraged to ignore any and all of them as befits your need to tell the story.
There are no lists of classes, powers, equipment and such in Dextra, no codified character abilities, spells, races or anything else. It is a game truly limited only by the imagination of the players at the table. But you need not worry about your fellow players abusing this potential to create overpowered monstrosities, because they don't make their own characters. Each player provides a name and class -- any class, from fighter to fae emissary, wizard to werewolf hunter -- and character sheets are passed around the table where everyone else gives them the attributes, powers and abilities, equipment and items, and traits and quirks that make them who they are. It's a little like Mad Libs, except instead of dubiously entertaining jibberish, you're likely to end up with something cool like an Infernal Bloodline, a Ruggedness ability score, or Spear of Lightning.
Taking actions and overcoming challenges is done using 2d6 (two six-sided dice for any newcomers out there), adding the character elements that the player feels are appropriate to their roll, and comparing it to a predetermined difficulty that the Game Master establishes for the action. GMs don't need to look up any tables; they simply estimate the difficulty of an action (assuming it is one that carries a risk of failure at all) from 1 to 10, and add 5. There are guidelines for combat, hit points, character conditions and so on if desired, but Dextra does not contain realistic or complicated battle mechanics. If that's your jam, this may not be for you.
Is Dextra free? No, it is not free. Yes, it is. Though It took nearly a year to conceive, write, edit, format and ultimately publish the game, and I believe in fair compensation for myself just as for any other writer or creator, the market spoke after release and I determined it is more important to me that people be able to play the games I create than an occasional payout. Dextra and all of my other published games are free.
Where can I get it? Dextra is currently offered at Itch.io (link provided). It should be published on DriveThruRPG (link provided) sometime within the next three days after their review and approval. It is currently only available as a digital PDF download (preparing print-on-demand copies involves some software and expertise I do not currently possess). If you wish to obtain a copy of the game and have a preference between these two sites, by all means go with that. If you have no preference, then my recommendation is Itch.io, as they not only take a smaller cut of the sale, but have more features available (such as complimentary community copies and easier means to send free codes to users).
Where can I get more information? If you have questions about the game, send me an Ask on the Dextra-RPG Tumblr account. You can also check or follow that account for occasional posts of information and to find out how you can contribute to a crowd-sourced character creation project to be offered as a free download to potential players.

-Pari Anon
Add Albedo to the Pari!Creator brain rot.
Before anyone learned that Pari!Reader was the Creator, Albedo had managed to catch a glimpse of them while he was at the Inn heading to the harbor. Xiao is away dealing with demons, so Albedo is able to get close to Pari!Reader. He finds their chirping adorable, and he can tell they don’t mind by the way they nuzzle into his hand.
He plays with Pari!Reader for a while until he has to go. He makes the mistake of trying to take Pari with him.
He isn’t even across the bridge before Xiao has a spear pointed at Albedo’s throat, demanding he release Pari.
i love this really, like albedo studies leylines and he can sense the disturbance, so he decides to travel to liyue to ask some specialists about it. he travels, taking a stop at wangshu inn, travelling high to better sketch the view. liyue is rather pretty, and this angle of dragonspine is quite striking… he grabs a chair and sits against the balcony railing, sketching as the sun sets.
when a rather odd looking creature flies onto the balcony, it starts toward him, then stops, awkwardly readjusting midair to land on the balcony. it’s as if it expected him to be someone else…
he flipped to a new page, sketching the strange creature. it was unfamiliar to him… maybe local to liyue?
it tilts its head at him and he smiles. “hello. how are you?”
he mostly ignores it, figuring it’s some sort of adeptal pet or creation, but when he returns the next morning to catch a few more details for his drawing, it’s there again. it flaps, chittering, and he smiles as he finalizes the sketch. he can color and refine it later, but these details were crucial before he continued his journey into the city.
he looks up to say goodbye, and sees the creature curled up on the railing, seemingly asleep? how strange, for an animal to place its trust in another so willingly…
after a few moments of inspection, he realized the creature was imbued with some form of elemental ability. how odd, he thought he’d had all forms of elemental life documented… perhaps this is what’s been causing the disturbances?
after a bit of thought, he takes off his jacket and gently moves the creature into it, keeping them bundled in one arm. he collected his things and said goodbye to verr goldet, walking out of the inn. his trip is peaceful, though the creature begins to stir as he approaches the gate. he slows, making a small opening in the jacket for it to poke its head out. it tilts its head again, chittering, and he can’t help but smile.
“hello,” he says again, and the thing chirps back, looking around as he continues to walk. however, once it does, when it sees the buildings of the harbor and the millelith standing guard, it starts to fuss, flapping its wings.
he should have seen this coming, in truth.
“no, i won’t hurt you-“ the creature bats away his hand, letting out a sharp cry that hurts his ears with the pitch. he winces, and in the split second his eyes are closed, something sharp presses against his skin.
“release them.”
his eyes open, and he sees.. someone he doesn’t recognize, admittedly. teal eyes and a jade spear just as sharp are all he can pick up, their hand reaching for his jacket, pulling sharply. the creature quickly squirms out, diving behind the stranger’s shoulder, and albedo timidly raises his hands.
“a pet, then? i was unaware-“
“don’t call them that,” the stranger growls, and albedo hisses as their spear digs into his skin more. they reach their free hand to the creature, who leans into them with chitters.
“who-…” he doesn’t think he’s met another with such a fierce glare, though the weapon at his throat certainly doesn’t help. “who are you?”
the stranger sneers, lip curling. “you dare venture into liyue without knowing those who reside there? do you have no respect for the adepti?”
ah. that explains quite a bit.
“my apologies. i am not a native.”
“clearly.”
“…might you be able to tell me what that is, then? i have never encountered an elemental being in that form before, not have i read about one. it appears to resemble one of sumeru’s…” he pauses, fumbling for the name, and the adeptus retracts his polearm.
“that is none of your business. in the future, it would be wise to not touch what isn’t yours, and stay out of what you’re not involved in. i will be keeping an eye on you for the remainder of your journey; be mindful of your manners.”
the adeptus turns, vanishing in a cloud of teal smoke, and albedo lets out a breath, hands lowering.
at least that explains how he appeared without his noticing.
