(inspired by your earlier post about if L accused Sayu of being Kira) How do you think an au where Sayu got the death note would play out?
amazing question. i wrote so much more than i thought i was going to im so sorry. tl;dr i don't think the ultimate plot would change much but the beginning would sure be interesting.
i think if sayu found the death note, she would tell light before anyone else. he's clearly her most trusted confidant. light would tell her not to worry because it's clearly some chain letter shit but because she's clearly frightened of it he'd offer to hold it for her and get rid of it so she doesn't have to think about it.
now whether ownership officially passes to light at this point might depend on the specific wording they use. if light says 'hold onto it for you' or something to that effect it would likely just be sublet to light (wording from rule 13) - for our purposes im inclined to go with this version of events but i note the rules are really ambiguous on what the specific requirements and conditions are regarding ownership.
(i keep wanting to go through and do a full review of all the manga rules from like. almost like a statutory interpretation kind of lens but that's a stupid project i need to convince myself out of lmfao jesus)
hey this got really long and complicated. i thought it was going to be simple but now im going through branching possibilities literally for the sole purpose of analysing the rules so let's put the rest under the cut. click for me citing specific death note rules in the middle of my work day i guess GOD. you can also scroll to the bottom if you want to skip me talking about death note rules and just see my projected course of events
the issue of ownership actually doesn't matter that much at this point for reasons we will see but might change things a little bit down the road (see below re: ryuk and discussion of rule 47). let's go with the sublet thing for now and assume sayu is still the owner of the notebook but light is holding it.
light keeps the book, sayu tries not to think about it and fails. light can't resist testing it without sayu's knowledge. light meets ryuk. i note rule 13 states the death god will stay with the owner of the note. since light and sayu are in the same household (ie geographic distance is not an issue) and ryuk would find light more interesting, it's a coin flip which person he'd show up to (probably depends on the degree to which shinigami are bound by their rules which i don't have access to and can't review lol). let's assume for now that ryuk meets light first just for ease, but i will come back to this later because i actually prefer him showing up to sayu first while light is holding the notebook.
in the version where light meets ryuk first, then depending how forthcoming ryuk is with information, either sayu sees ryuk before light realises that's a risk or light realises sayu will see ryuk before she actually does. im leaning towards the latter because in canon light finds out in this order:
people who don't have the note can't see ryuk (when his mother comes into the room during their first meeting)
people who have touched the note CAN see ryuk (when sayu comes into the room asking for help with homework some days later)
so in this au, between events 1 and 2, light would realise that since sayu has touched and owns the note, she'll be able to see ryuk. i think light at this point would ask ryuk if there's any way to undo that effect at which point ryuk should inform light that forfeiting the note will allow sayu to stop seeing ryuk.
ok, now let's backtrack to before and say instead of light, ryuk shows up to sayu first. ryuk appears, sayu screams, ryuk informs sayu that light has used the note. light comes running because sayu screamed. light again in this timeline immediately demands to know how to get sayu out of this situation, partially because she's freaking out and partially because he's already pondering the possibilities and absolutely needs sayu not to know about any of this. she is already hysterical because hey, did this monster just say that her big brother killed someone?
ok here's where i got into a rabbithole digging through the rules for a loophole because i found a problem. (it's ok, i found one.)
we know a death note can pass from person to person because it happens in canon multiple times. we also know that losing the death note will erase your memory of the note (rule 22). where it gets interesting is that rule 47 provides that you will only lose your memories of the death note if you actually used it:
[...] You will not lose memory of the Death Note, for example, if you merely owned it and had not written anyone's name. [...]
you won't be able to see the shinigami anymore, but you'll still remember the notebook. not good enough for light - he needs sayu to forget completely or she'll be traumatised and he'll be compromised, especially because now she knows he used the notebook which makes her a liability. light now has two thoughts
he could ask sayu to kill one person using the notebook and then forfeit it so she doesn't remember the crime and can be free of the notebook forever, or
see if the shinigami can offer any other options.
1 is an interesting place for light's mind to go, but he goes with option 2 first because sayu looks like she's going to have a panic attack. luckily, there is another option, and we know ryuk is aware of it because of the events of the a-Kira story - this is lucky because even if a rule existed there's no guarantee that the shinigami know about it as ryuk demonstrates multiple times. (they also don't need to tell their human any of the rules at all - rule 4.) lmao. anyway im talking about rule 67:
Regarding the memories mentioned in Rule XLVII, the owner can have their memories of the Death Note erased if they so desire.
(well, it's more like 67.1, because there are three completely unrelated sub-rules in this rule. kind of justified because we know rule 67 was a last-minute amendment but seriously who fucking drafted these rules in the shinigami world i'd like a word)
under rule 67, sayu could forfeit the death note and willingly have her memories erased without needing to kill anyone. light asks sayu to do this and promises he won't kill anyone else with the book and that he'll burn it as soon as she's forfeited her memories.
sayu trusts light so much that she does not ask why he doesn't just burn it now. she forfeits the book and forgets the death note ever existed.
i think from that point everything else goes the same way it does in canon.
tl;dr, again - my projected course of events, preferencing the branches i personally find most likely:
sayu finds the death note
sayu tells light about it
sayu sublets the death note to light, remaining the note's official owner
light tests the death note without sayu's knowledge
ryuk shows up to sayu and informs her that light has used the death note
light joins the conversation and demands to know whether sayu can be rid of the notebook
ryuk informs them sayu can forfeit the notebook and will no longer see ryuk, then states anyone who's killed with the notebook would lose all memory of it once they had done so
light correctly infers that by default, your memory will remain unless you have killed with the notebook.
light realises he needs sayu to lose ALL her memories of the notebook, both for her mental health and because she knows he's killed someone with the notebook and is a liability
light briefly considers asking sayu to use the notebook once before forfeiting it
light dismisses this as an option
light asks ryuk if there are any other options
ryuk reluctantly informs light that yes he can erase sayu's memories of the notebook if she willingly chooses it
light convinces sayu to give up her memories and the notebook and promises he will destroy it
sayu trusts light and doesn't push him to destroy the book in front of her
sayu gives up the notebook and her memories
light becomes owner of the death note
story proceeds per canon

i have seen your tags! so i must say: how about making that another time about jealous venti rn time? only if you're up for it though!
again i am very sorry for this late response but here’s a snippet from a fic (that’s actually all abt jealous venti in a modern setting LOL <3) said fic is 5/6 done so here’s a preview in case i won’t get it finished;
cw: a lil suggestive. (i should calm down honestly.)
Drowning in your reviewers and notebooks, you bump your forehead on your study table.
Ugh.
This. Is. Too. Much.
They can’t expect us to memorize this all! You glare at the piece of note card you made. You wrote acronyms for this stupid topic just so your brain can get familiar with it, but unfortunately, there are so many! And it’s not even a major subject!
“Hi, my Windblume,” There are arms that encircle your waist, and you take a deep breath. Venti’s voice during this time is able to calm your nerves. He presses his front to your backside. “You seem frustrated! Take a break—just for twenty minutes will suffice.”
You glance by your shoulder with a sly smirk. “You just want me to kiss you, don’t you?”
Venti lets out his signature giggle, “Bingo. Now come on—“ He yanks your hand forcefully, and you topple over with a shriek. Venti’s so strong, sometimes it scares (and amazes) you. For someone his own size, who knew that this delicate looking man can generate so much strength and power?
(Oh, isn’t he part of the archery team or whatever…?)
You return to reality when Venti pokes your waist, making you squeak. “Ah! Venti! Don’t do that!”
“Thinking about other people rather than me?” Venti pinches your cheeks, “I’m hurt~ aren’t I supposed to be your distraction?”
You remove his hands on your face, but you still keep holding it with yours. “I was not thinking of other people. I was thinking about you.” Then, you find out where you’re sitting now—on his lap. “Venti, aren’t I heavy? I should get off.”
Venti firmly squeezes your waist. The way his fingers dip on your skin makes you blush a little. He puffs his cheeks, “No, stay! I want you here. Please, love?”
How can you say no to his puppy eyes? With a defeated sigh, you forfeit. “Okay.”
“Yay!” Venti smiles joyfully. “Kiss me? I will be your stress–reliever! Let it all out to me, Windblume—your frustrations, your irritations, the whirlwind inside of you. Tell me all about it.”
You’re really thankful that you have Venti as a lover. He’s just so sweet, understanding, and supportive. He’s one of the main reasons why you can withstand college.
You’re not reluctant to tilt your head and latch your lips with his. It’s so soft. But instead of sweet candy, there’s a taste of the bitterness of the black coffee he consumed. “I hate my professors.” You kiss him again. He kisses you back this time. “I hate them so much—they’re giving us so many projects when they’re aware that it’s midterms week.”
Venti’s eyelids flutter in content. “Have you talked to your professors about it? Aah, mm—windblume...—“ He murmurs, “If… if there are any problems such as this, it’s better to talk it out with them…hmm…”
“I–It’s futile,” you say, and you kiss Venti again and again. “There’s nothing I— I can do anymore when they’ve already made up their mind…”
You add with a small pant, “Even Albedo can’t negotiate with them…”
You continue your slow pace when Venti suddenly deepens the kiss. Your toes curl and your heart skips from the abruptness. When you detach away from him, you muster up the courage to say something. Your chest heaves up and down as you whisper a “V–Venti…?”
He opens his eyelids midway.
What you are witnessing right now—it’s a flushed Venti.
And his eyes… they’re filled with want.
You feel like a prey under a predator’s gaze.
It takes him a while to respond. Both of you are catching your breaths. You’re not sure of what’s happening right now. The way Venti looked at you, surely, he’s not…
The room is so hot right now.
You’re disturbed from your thoughts when Venti buries his whole face on your chest. You can hear his muffled voice— Windblume…
He sounds a little upset, you think as you feel his hold on you tightens.
“What’s wrong?” You dip your head down to thread your fingers on his hair. You scratch his scalp tenderly, “H-hey. What’s wrong, my needy distraction? Are you finally realizing that I’m stopping the circulation of your blood flow, and that I must get off?”
He makes a noise akin to a scoff. As if, he probably wants to say. Venti clutches you closer. “Stay.”
A demand?
“A–alright.” You smile. “I will. But only for like, sixteen minutes.”
Venti lifts his head a little to reveal his beautiful eyes. He still has his nose and lips dug to your sternum as he speaks. “Thirty minutes.” Though subdued, you manage to understand.
“I have to study,” you gulp nervously. “Midterms will kill me.”
“But I’m your boyfriend,” Venti nuzzles into you. Archons, he is so needy. “And isn’t it your responsibility to cater my needs?”
You narrow your eyes at him. Very needy indeed. “Amazing. What should I do next, then?”
“Ahaha, kiss me.”
“Again?”
“Yes.”
“You really are distracting me from my studies. Do you want me to fail?”
“Of course not. But kiss me. Please?”

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for tagging me @revolutionsoftheheart! 💋
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
230
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 1,851,307
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently: SVU (EO), MCU/Marvel (Steggy), Once Upon a Time (OQ) (shut up, i'm calling it current bc I intend to continue, I've just been taking a little break....)
Over the course of my fandom life: Battlestar Galactica (Lee/Kara), Private Practice (Charlotte/Cooper), CSI:Miami (Calleigh/Eric), and if you count all the writing I did in notebooks during my teenage years Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel: The Series (Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike, Angel/Darla).
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Couches (SVU)
Breaking In (Once Upon a Time) (** This one would absolutely have the top spot if the OQ fandom had made the shift to Ao3 sooner. Baker's Dozen would probably be in the top 5 as well, so... honorable mention. lol)
Lip Service (SVU)
Convalescence (SVU)
Mistakes Were Made (SVU)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I used to respond to every single comment, years and years ago. Now I am terrible at responding to comments, for a number of reasons. 1) I just don't have the spoons I used to have, and oftentimes I will start out replying to all the comments and then the day will pass and the next day I maybe don't have the time/energy for it, and then I worry people will think I'm intentionally ignoring their comments, which I am very much not, so I kind of adopted an "if I can't get to everybody, I just shouldn't do anybody" mentality which is probably not the greatest and I am trying to work on... 2) I tend to keep the tab open for my latest fic/update for a day or two to see what comments roll in but then after that, I close the tab and I forget the inbox on Ao3 actually exists so I'm reliant on my email alerts to know when there's a new comment, and I don't check that email every day so sometimes it's dayssss after someone leaves a comment on a not-quite-brand-new work before I see it. And then I feel like I've accidentally left it too late? 3) I feel like I should have more to say than just replying to everyone with "Thanks!", or I feel bad when I have more to say to some reviews than that (because they ask a question, are more specific about something, etc.) but then reply to some of the others with only "Thanks!" Like I feel like the people who just get "thanks!" are gonna feel like I don't value their reviews as much as the people who get a longer response, and then they'll feel bad or like they wasted their effort reviewing and then I'll feel bad bc that is very much not the case. (See above re: "if I can't do it for everyone, I'll just do it for no one.") This is the (one and only) downside to me of the Ao3 comment reply format vs. FFNet review replies -- I LOVE that the Ao3 comments format lends itself better to conversation, but the FFnet review replies went to people's DMs so nobody knew if they got a "Thanks!" on this one and someone else got a paragraph. 4) I feel like it pads the Comment count? Like it looks like the work got double the response that it did, it feels a little like I'm cheating? So in summary, I have Comment reply anxiety, clearly lol. But I love receiving everyone's comments, and I hoard each and every one like a dragon with their treasure, and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to leave one. Maybe in 2024 I should make it a goal to reply to all of them idk...
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Mmmmm.... Hexes, maybe? I was scrolling down the OUAT fic memory lane last night and hit OQ Angst Week, that had some doozies. Maybe Sing A Song of Forgetting, that one was rough.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Baker's Dozen, probably. (Which, fun fact -- I put the OG version back up on Ao3 a few years back "temporarily" and then forgot to take it down, so if you have that and the published book version, now you can compare, I guess 😂)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not much these days, but I have a few times in the past. The one I got the most hate on is actually not on Ao3 because when I moved over my Private Practice fics from FFnet, I didn't move anything incomplete that I wasn't expecting to finish. But it was a Charlotte King fic that dealt with her fiance coming back into her life (before we actually met him on the show) while she and Cooper were broken up, and I was very clear that it was a Charlotte fic not so much a CharCoop fic, but oooooh people were mad that there was a love triangle going on and it was unclear who she was gonna end up with. LIVID. FURIOUS. That's the fic that made me turn off anon reviews for the first time bc I had someone who would just troll me with hate reviews and blow up my DMs. It was a time....
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Indeed, and pretty much... whatever's clever. lol I need more specifics on the last question.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really, no.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes! Someone swiped a chunk of one of my EO fics and reused it like word for word (with the names changed, obvs) in their Jopper fic this summer! And someone linked me to it and I blew up their Comments section on the chapter and they deleted their entire internet presence, it was wild.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, because every time someone asks me for permission to translate one, I say no, bc I am very protective of my work. lol I don't like not being able to vet the translation and know that it comes across the way I want it to. I've talked in the past about having a friend of mine do a Spanish translation of Baker's Dozen, but she literally does translation for a living and she's so familiar with my writing and my writing process (and I'm so familiar with hers) that I can trust the end result would be what I'd want it to be. Also, in my experience, folks who want to translate my work also want to repost it somewhere themselves, and I haaaaaaate that. I'm a control freak about my work, I want it to be where I want it and have control over the managing of it at all times. (I get annoyed when people repost my work to other fic archives/collections, or have it bound in print for themselves, etc. I don't like that. What if I want to go back and change something? Just leave it where I posted it and link back to there, please and thank you!)
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, but never to completion.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship? It's like choosing between children, I can't.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
If Every Road Led Back Home (the aforementioned Charlotte King fic). Everything else, I am still convinced I'll finish it someday. lol (But if we were gonna be less optimistic than that, What Happens in Vegas, and L'ébauche probably)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Porn with feelings. lol Sex scenes with what I call "heightened realism" -- it's probably consistently better sex than real-world sex, but never so much that it seems implausible or too exaggerated, and I like to include little mishaps, or imperfections, or the real things that often get skipped over (hey condoms, hey lube, hey peeing after sex) because when you've been writing sexy fanfic for two decades, quite frankly it's boring when it's perfect and shiny every time. I have a Steggy fic planned for sometime this year that is basically "their sex life has one consistent and inconvenient obstacle and here's all the ways that works out (and sometimes doesn't work out) for them." I haven't flexed my angst muscles in a while, but I used to absolutely love writing stuff that wrecked people until they were yelling at me in the comments. I miss doing that.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Rampant abuse of grammar (I know I'm doing it, I just don't care), overuse of the word "just", and too many parentheticals. Also knowing when to stop. I will use 18 words when 3 would do, and I can very easily write myself into the weeds instead of staying on target and writing every scene with intent toward a goal. (Hi, Breaking In.) Also, finishing things. (Hello again, Breaking In, and every other unfinished WIP both on Ao3/FFnet and in my Google Docs graveyard.)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it fits the fic, absolutely, but only a language I can find a native speaker to check and correct for me before I post it. I don't wanna be the one out here with the wonky Google Translate French that makes people who can actually read the language cringe.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The first fanfic I ever published on the internet was a Spuffy fic that is now lost to the ages because it was on some fic archive that no longer exists, but I did a lot of pen-and-paper BtVS fanfic writing in middle and high school.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
I'm gonna go with Breaking In, because it's my baby. My Beast. The big guy. My Everest. And also Baker's Dozen because it's Baker's Dozen.
tagging in a no-pressure way (and sorry for any double tags): @goodthingscomeinthrees @behindthelabels @rahleeyah @roboticonography @doctorhelena @lyricalviolet @audreysl0ve @ninzied @somuchwhatever and anyone else who wants to do it!

Started reading castles and it’s so good! Don’t know if saying this correctly but… how did you came up with it? Like what made your brain go “ I wanna write about this”?
aw thank you so much! glad you're enjoying!
wow, this is such a deep question. i don't think there was, like, one thing that made me want to write it. i didn't wake up one day with a fully formed idea of what this fic will be. even now, while i do have the overall structure in my head, i definitely also make things up as i go along. castles has known many iterations of itself over the years, and it just kept growing until i felt i was finally able to write it.
the first time i got the urge to write something was when i was 14, right after i first finished reading DH. i remember writing fic in my little school notebook during class. at the time, it was mostly a harry/ginny story about how-they-got-back-together after the war. i lost it and never finished it, but i remember very clearly it already had that sort of quiet, blurry sort of vibe that you get in the early chapters, especially chapter one. that sense of the calm after the storm, and not really knowing what to do with all that time. back then, i was writing exclusively shippy content, and so that's the sort of iteration it took. but i think what drove me to write it was this sort of frustration at the epilogue and at the "lack" of a direct aftermath of the battle. i'm not an epilogue hater, i actually like the epilogue for what it represents, but i think i would have liked more details on the characters and the "rebuilding" prior to it. i think that's where that came from.
the second time i tried to write it, i had just turned 18. i'd done a re-read that summer and by then, i already had a lot more writing experience under my belt (for context, i started writing at 13). i remember, again, it being post-war, and a sort of more "polished" product than what i'd written prior. i think i didn't finish it/publish it back then because a) the hugeness of the HP fandom scared me as a writer, and i didn't want to expose myself to the crazies, b) that's around the same time i fell into House MD, then TGW, and both shows took over my life, and c) i think, looking back, maybe some part of me knew i could write a better story, if i just waited a bit. but, it was then that i wrote the very first draft of what you will now know as the "first time" scene between harry and ginny, and also the line that has now become the fic's summary: to him, the spring of '98 is about sex and funerals. i remember this re-read was also the first time when i actually sat down and thought about what might have happened to ginny in hogwarts and (i'm remaining vague here cause you've said you only just started reading), had the idea for The Thing. which wasn't so much an "idea" as much as the fact that i was 18 and now a lot more attuned to the world i was living in as a young woman.
i picked up the books again in late 2017 (then, 24) and i remember pulling the story out of my massive archive of abandoned projects, and reading through it after finishing DH. i remember getting to the line "to him, the spring of '98 is about sex and funerals" and thinking: jesus, that's a good line, lol. and, i think at the time i wrote a bit more of it (i specifically remember writing the scene where ginny, ron and hermione help harry move in to his new flat - now chapter 3), but the issue was that i was knee-deep into writing another long-work in another fandom, and so this sort of took the backseat.
finally, we got to the 2020 lockdowns. i used the first lockdown to fully finish and put in the edits i wanted to add to my previous long work (which i'd finished writing in 2018). then, there was a second lockdown, and a third, and was a bit like: what now? and i re-read HP for comfort (considering the global crisis ongoing lol), and, well, the rest is history. i reviewed and repolished what i already had and put it out in september 2020. i thought to myself, i'll write another five chapters (LOL) and be done by december and, well, again, the rest is history.
so, i think, to answer your question, what made my brain go "i wanna write about this?" - time, really. the passage of time and the idea maturing in my brain. harry/ginny came first, then ginny, then the sort of broader environment (harry moving into a flat, etc), and finally, the overall arc of the story. i think the fascination with the post-war era is just - this idea that how do we get from kids who have been through so much and so deeply traumatised to "all was well". i remember seeing an interview from jkr once where she said that would probably have been the hardest part, and being like "yes, exactly." and, i think that fascination was always there, for me, but it just took a while to fully form.
which is something i now very much try to keep in mind: just because you abandon a project now, doesn't mean you are abandoning it forever. maybe it just needs more time in your head to fully bloom.

do not be afraid to use technology if using paper based methods of note taking, planning and scheduling and journaling.
when i first started my research project i was afraid of using only applications and software such as Notion, drives for storage, Microsoft Word AI grammar assistance etc. I was afraid because i was told (and anxious about it myself) that i could lose my data and information if i didn't have a backup on paper.
this resulted in me not quite meeting my weekly deadlines with tasks and goals because i was spending time "backing up" all my data, planning, schedules, meeting notes, everything.
Whilst i definitely agree with others that you should have a back up, a lot of these applications and software are so well developed and have really well functioning servers, there is such a minimal chance of just losing everything. it would be more logical to make back ups on other storage platforms/drives than keeping everything in paper AS WELL. this is so time consuming and sends you in a panic every time you need to upload data, write notes, prepare documents, edit documents, review data and leaves you with notes you made hastily (and anxiously) which often times never even helped me as the notes were illegible because i was in such a rush.
of course, a paper based method for laboratory notes is a good idea as devices are not recommended in the labs if you're working with biological matter/chemical substances - pencil down your notes and then you can go home if you have the time and the need to write it onto a notion page or type up a document so that you can review the protocol and how you performed during and the outcomes, any changes you may need to make etc.
you can use notion for your research scheduling and planning and just keep a very simple bullet journal/notebook for day to day notations and planning. i had been told to make sure i have a paper based record of everything i wrote on my notion but i think you can keep an abbreviated version and rather keep a copy pasted document of this and/or screenshots and store that across multiple drives (or one if you're not an anxious academic like me, haha).
if anyone tells you how you should do something so intricately personal to each student/researcher because they do not like the interface you use (yes, i was told i should not use the one thing that has worked for me because it was too difficult for the other party to understand or review), it is obviously nice and kind to try and provide things a format they understand, but do not stop doing the thing you enjoy and that actually helps you reach your goals.
context for number 3:
i found notion through various content creators in the research realm, with mixed recommendations ranging from yes it works well to no not for me. i struggle with planning and procrastinating and academic challenges so i decided to give it a go. honestly, the fact that it was aesthetically customisable was a big plus. that is just simply something that makes me want to work. the next thing was its cross compatibility with other apps and software i used, primarily google. it helped me keep track of upcoming meetings, events and urgent tasks and provided a way for me to visually see my progress. but someone i was wokring with, whose opinion mattered very much to me, had mentioned that they were not a fan and that they did not have the time to use the interface, even though the interface was not our primary mode of communication regarding my research project, it was simply a way for them to see how i was spending my time or planning to as a student of theirs. needless to say, i gave up because their way took way too much time already. it is not a problem or a topic that requires someone to blame, i just was in the midst of an already overwhelming time in my project and had to just do what i needed to survive (lol).
anyways, the lesson i learnt was, after falling a couple months behind because of poor planning and compatibility with how i was going about my most important component of my research was that you really need to prioritise the thing that works for you. whether that is paper based or digital.
but you cannot spend every moment fearing that notion will drop off the face of the earth with all your notes and plans along with it. i wasted so much time stressing and creating paper and digital back ups of EVERYTHING. i have now had to spend essentially a month organising things across multiple emails and drives just to get a start on my next big project. the most important lesson will definitely be that you need to train and teach yourself to know what are things that require a back...
you do not need 17 backups, paper and digital of plans passed and plans to come, you will quickly be reminded or be able to recall most such things as they will stress you out and haunt you so much anyways.
however you certainly do need a sufficient back up of data that belongs to the university as part of your project, or any personal methods of tracking such things.
anyways, sorry for the long rambles i post, i am using tumblr as a way to have a blog until i can actually get a website and publish better and more concise posts. i hope you still enjoy reading or at least find some solace or advice in between it all!

for the fanfic writer ask - 6, 21, 28, 33, 44! :)
Yay, @daryfromthefuture gave me some more Fanfic Writer Asks! I have something to do before making a bill calendar today! Thank you!! 😁
6. If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?
Mm, I'll stick to my AO3 account for this (because there are numerous at FFNet lol). I'm so proud of everything I've written because it was a necessary stepping stone to where I am today, but if there's one I'd delete off AO3 right now, it'd probably be Survival is Insufficient. The idea was really off-the-cuff and unplanned, and I think I could do better by reworking it into something different or larger in scale.
21. Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?
Construction-wise, I really like Dan Brown (of the Robert Langdon series). I know he's divisive, but I love his utilization of short chapters to keep things fast-paced, and he's good at ending a chapter on a cliffhanger that makes me have to read the next chapter. I love that I don't find myself wondering, "when will this chapter end??" because of those two things. Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio are two screenwriters that I adore. I love their storytelling, and I didn't even realize they were responsible for some of my favorite films until ten years ago — Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure. I listened to their writers' commentary on the first Pirates movie right when I was getting serious about writing as a teenager, and their word became gospel (or, at least, guidelines 😉). And if Vince Gilligan and Taika Waititi could just SHARE some of their secrets with me, that'd be great.
28. What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction?
It is thankless. It is SO thankless. I still struggle to remember that sometimes. Not everyone who reads is going to comment or kudos or bookmark, even if they're your biggest fan. You'll never know, and you just have to do it for yourself. Maybe you DO write something that takes your fandom by storm, and that's awesome! Stay humble. Let your work speak for itself. Don't say you suck at summaries, don't beg for reviews, don't say you won't update until you get X number of reviews… let your work be what compels readers to comment, kudos, and bookmark, not your panhandling and need for big stats. It doesn't work that way. If you're not enjoying it, you're doing it wrong.
33. What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?
When you write for a well-loved, small, protected fandom like Back to the Future and introduce an OC, you're rocking the boat. And I knew I was, but I wanted to try it and see how successfully I could pull it off. To my surprise, the ultimate compliment has been given to me by many: my OC blended seamlessly into canon, stood on her own, and actually added to the story. "I forgot she wasn't in the films" was probably the biggest compliment I've ever received. That was the "I did it, and I've got to keep living up to the expectations" moment.
44. What is the last line you wrote?
The last line I wrote would have been in my notebook last night while making notes for Once Upon a Time in the East. And it was: "You should have stayed dead."
Thanks so much for indulging me! I had lots of fun answering these, so feel free to drop more numbers in my inbox if the mood strikes! 😎

Tumblr media Tumblr media
eijirou kirishima
kirishima may have placed second in ua’s entrance exam, but he still needs to study. a lot
your also pretty smart but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to study as well, so when kirishima asked if you wanted to study with him it was perfect for both of you
it was also perfect because the two of you have fat crushes on each other
the two of you were going to meet up in your room after class ended, since your room was easier to study in—
when class ended, you walked over to kirishima’s desk. once he packed up the two of you started walking to the dorms
“hey (y/n) can we study english today? since we have a quiz tomorrow.” kirishima glanced at you, to see if you’d agree
you nodded your head in response, “good idea, we probably should review the material from today. it’ll most likely be the majority of the quiz.”
the two of you continue to easily converse about how to study for today, you have always been able to easily talk with kirishima
it’s definitely one of the reasons why you fell for him
when you get to your dorm, the both of you sit at your chabudai desk. sitting across from each other because you’re not sure if you’re ready to sit so close to kirishima. he’s not sure either
as you start getting your notes out from your earlier lesson, kirishima is currently worrying about being in your room. it’s his first time being in your room, with only you.
you snap him back to reality, “kirishima? are you going to get your notes out?”
the red head tenses slightly since you caught him spacing out, “right sorry (y/n)!” he laughs nervously and fishes his notes out from his backpack
the two of you then spend the next few hours studying your english from material from that day and the rest of the week
“kirishima, you forgot the comma here.”
“(y/n) which sentence structure do i use here?”
“wait how do you spell ketchup again..”
“why is english so complicated?!”
after almost four hours of studying, mostly english but the two of you completed the homework due tomorrow as well, you were starting to get tired. it was already dark outside as well
you let out a big yawn, causing kirishima to pause what he was doing and look up at you. “getting tired? maybe we should call it for today.”
you immediately shake your head at the male, “no i’m fine let’s just finish since we’re almost done.” even if you were tired you didn’t want this to end, you were actually having fun studying with kirishima. he definitely made it more enjoyable
kirishima definitely didn’t think you were just fine, but he let it slide. he was planning on letting you sleep if you let out another big yawn like that though
you continued to work on a worksheet but you were having trouble remembering something. so you got up and plopped down next to kirishima, “can you help me with this? sorry it’s just easier to sit next to you instead of sliding the paper back and forth.”
kirishima was a little surprised that you were now sitting so close to him, your shoulders touching with his now. but he swatted that thought away and focused on helping you with the worksheet. a small blush still spread along his cheeks however
he started to explain it more thoroughly, not realizing that you had started to lean against him. it was only after he finished explaining that he fully noticed that you had fell asleep while leaning against him.
you were already pretty tired, so when kirishima started to smoothly talk, plus his comfortable warmth. yea it just soothed you into an easy sleep, leaving a very surprised, flustered red head
the red head blushed deeply when he saw that you were now slumped against him and sleeping. he couldn’t help the lopsided smile that easily spread on his face as he watched your sleeping form
but now kirishima was contemplating whether he should move you to your bed or not. he was so afraid of waking you up, the sweet boy didn’t want to disturb you. you looked too cute sleeping anyways
but while he was deciding there was a sudden knock on the door, which then opened quickly after
“hey (y/n)! the girls were wondering if you wanted to join...kirishima!! what are you doing here?” mina was standing in the open door frame, along with tsuyu and hagakure
kirishima immediately brought his finger to his lips to shush the loud pink girl, when mina shouted in surprise you started to stir slightly
“please don’t wake up (y/n), they just fell asleep.” the red head was quietly trying to make sure the girls weren’t too loud again. but they were struggling from holding back their squeals of excitement since of course they knew about your crush
“ok we will leave then, but not after taking a dozen pictures first!” mina quietly shouted, then whipped out her phone and started to snap pictures of your sleeping form leaning against kirishima.
the next day you practically died from over heating after seeing all the pictures mina took, but at least you and kirishima got high grades on the quiz
the two of you would definitely be studying again together
Tumblr media
denki kaminari
it’s no secret that kaminari needs to study more, i’m pretty sure everyone knows that much
he’s actually ranked last in class 1-a’s grades, this idiot
so when kaminari practically begs you to help him study, since bakugou doesn’t want to teach him anymore, you can’t refuse him
besides it helps you learn as well, plus of course you don’t mind spending more time with your crush
during lunch the blonde practically drags you to the library to help him review for a test they have right after lunch.
you can’t even stop him from dragging you because you’re blushing from him just holding your hand
honestly kaminari would be a little short circuited as well but he’s too worried about failing this test
kaminari finds a table for the both of you near the back of the library and immediately starts to bombarde you with questions
“how do you memorize all of this laws?”
“do heroes pay for building damages or is it covered by the government?”
“and also—“
he goes on for a minute or so before finally taking a breath and letting you process, you can’t even hold yourself back from laughing because half of the stuff he said wasn’t even related to what you had learned in class
“kaminari, do you even pay attention? here let me explain what we learned this week.” you grabbed your notebook and moved to sit beside the electric boy
as you read through your notebook, reviewing the weeks material, kaminari just stared at you as you talked
seeing you beside him definitely hit different, it just meant he could admire you up close. also he never knew hearing you talk so confidently about this subject would be hot
congrats kaminari thinks you’re smarts are hot too
when you finished explaining, turning to face the blonde, you definitely weren’t expecting him to be so blantantly staring at you
a pink tint spread on your cheeks as you looked back at him in confusion, “kaminari? were you listening to anything i said?”
“huh?” it took the blonde a moment to register your words, but he then smiled sheepishly. “what of course i did, your good looks just distracted me slightly that’s all.”
your mouth dropped open slightly, eyes blinking slowly as you sat in shock. yea you knew kaminari could be a flirt, but it didn’t mean that you were immune to it
as your cheeks grew red, you cleared your throat and focused back on helping the dunce face study. “right well if you can answer these questions then you should be fine for the next class.”
kaminari was silently grinning in victory, loving your adorable reaction to his flirting. he wanted to flirt with you more
you quickly wrote down a couple of questions, from some worksheets and other you made up, so that kaminari could answer them
you gave the paper to kaminari and he stared to answer them, leaving you with nothing to do. so you decided to rest your head on the table, using your own hand as a pillow for your face
the previous night you slept pretty late, for no particular reason you just couldn’t sleep. so it didn’t take much for you too easily fall asleep in the quiet library
that’s a BIG lie we both know you were probably up on your phone, maybe watching tiktok as well don’t think i don’t know
kaminari finished all the questions and was about to slide the paper to you when he saw you had fallen asleep
the blonde was surprised to see you had fallen asleep so easily, and now he was unsure what to do
the thought of the test quickly fleeted from his mind as he just watched you. your small rising and falling with each breath, your mouth slightly open, and your hair gently framing your face
the blonde gently reached over and brushed some stray hairs that dared to block your face. he couldn’t help but smile as he did so
goodness kaminari couldn’t help but think you were still so attractive as you slept! but now that he thought of it, of course you would be attractive with everything you do
he decided to let you rest, mostly because it was an excuse for him to watch you. he laid his arms on the table and laid on them as well, watching you as you took a little nap
after a few minutes of watching you, he knew that the bell would ring soon. so instead of letting the bell wake you, he decided that he would rather do it
a mischievous grin spread along his face, his charges his finger with enough electricity to definitely wake you up. but of course not enough to hurt you or anything like that
as he pressed his finger against your arm you immediately jolted awake with a little gasp following
“k-kaminari!” you shouted, forgetting you were in a library. everyone around you immediately shushed you to silence, making your cheeks turn red with embarrassment
you shot a glare at the blonde who was holding back his laughter, “i’m sorry (y/n), i couldn’t help myself. you fell asleep and the bells going to ring. can you look over my answers?”
you were still upset with the male, not angry or anything but you were still pouting about him shocking you. you looked over the paper as you grumbled about him shocking you awake
“well you passed, but this is the last time i’m helping you study.” the bell rung as you stood from the table, grabbing your things to walking to leave the library
the blonde panicked when you got up and did the same, “wait (y/n) i’m really sorry! i promise i won’t shock you, you’re the best and only tutor i have!”
hearing kaminari beg made you grin, of course you were going to get him back for earlier. you stopped in your tracks and looked back at him
“hm fine, but next time, you better be paying closer attention.” you squinted your eyes at him, trying your best to threaten him
he nodded quickly, “yes yes of course!” he was grateful you were going to study with him again, he wouldn’t want to study with anyone else anymore
“kaminari...you left your things in the library and class is going to start soon...”
“huh? oh crap!” you laughed as you watched the blonde scramble back to the library to grab his things. who knew studying could be so eventful?
Tumblr media
katsuki bakugou
ok we all know that bakugou is smart, like he look like the type to slack off. but when he says he wants to be the best, that includes grades
this guy is actually a nerd, like funny how you call deku a nerd when you’re a big one yourself bakagou
and the two of you compete, with training, with grades, with like almost anything you can compete with
so when the class came back from a long day of training, to get their quiz scores from the previous week, you were devastated to see that you barely got a passing grade
usually you got high grades but this new section of math, definitely had you struggling. you just couldn’t quite get it right
bakugou was definitely proud of his high score and turned to you, wanting to know your score. so that he could flaunt it in your face that he did better then you, since he usually did only slightly better
“hey dumbass, guess who got a higher score than you again.” he showed you his paper, a proud grin plastered on his face. you didn’t even pay attention to him, still distraught about your score
seeing that you didn’t even notice, the blonde just got more annoyed. “hey idiot don’t just ignore me.” he snatched the paper out from your hands, to see what you got, but once he saw your score he went silent for a moment
that’s rare
bakugou started to laugh, catching you off guard. why was he laughing? were your bad grades actually funny to him?
“i can’t believe it, you turned into an ACTUALL dumbass!” he calmed down from his laughter, only to tease you of course. this just annoyed you, causing you to pout at the spiky blonde
“yeah well maybe it’s your fault for calling me dumbass and idiot all the time.” you retorted, stealing your paper back and stuffing it in your bag.
bakugou just rolled his eyes at you, “yeah whatever shitty girl.” he packed up the rest of his things and headed out of the classroom.
you also grabbed your things and followed beside the male, it was just an unspoken aggreement that you two walk to the dorms together
actually at first he yelled at you for following him, but now he just doesn’t care and maybe just maybe enjoys your company
you know you need help on the current math section, and you know the next math test will have half of it’s problems about it
you also know that the person who can probably help you, is also the same person who laughed at your bad grade
so when you guys arrive at the dorms you know what you have to do. “bakugou,” you start, which made him glance over at you briefly, “please help me with math!”
bakugou stopped walking to look at you, you were seriously asking for his help? “as if idiot, why should i help my competition?”
“well didn’t you say it’s not worth winning if your opponent is not giving it their all?”
awe shit, you got him there
bakugou growled under his breath, angry that you were right. “fine fine! besides it’s annoying hearing you whine so much.” he grumbled under his breath as he walked too his dorm room.
“HEY I DID NOT WHINE!”
you ended up going to your dorm to change out of your uniform, then went to bakugou’s so that you could study
you entered his room and saw that he had prepared everything already, a cushion was set out for you and his notes were all organized. man you really had fallen for a nerd
the next two hours went as following:
“it’s literally so easy you idiot.”
“JUST REMEMBER THE EQUATION DUMBASS”
“can you even read?”
“bAKUGOU IF YOU HIT ME WITH THAT NEWSPAPER ONE MORE TIME I WILL GO LORD EXPLOSION MURDER ON YOUR ASS”
bakugou may have thought that last one was hot
but finally after yelling and dealing with bakugou LITERALLY trying to whack the math homework into your head, it finally clicked
“god it took you long enough dumbass, now hurry up it’s almost eight.” you shot a glare at bakugou but sighed, not wanting to argue you anymore
bakugou was also a little proud of you for working so hard, BUT YOU HEARD NOTHING FROM ME
you were getting tired yourself but you wanted to finish the last few practice problems to make sure you got it down
you rested your head against your offhand, continuing to work out the equations and such. your eyes were starting to feel pretty heavy and before you knew it you passed out
today you were more exhausted from usual because of a particular rough day of practice, and you were partenered with bakugou for sparring. he did not let you get off easy
bakugou heard the thud from when your head fell against the table, worried for a brief moment before he saw you were just sleeping
“they really fell asleep...oi wake up, you’re not sleeping in my room.” bakugou pokes you with his pen, continuously doing so until he got annoyed since you weren’t wake up
he grumbled under his breath about how you were such a pain in the ass and such, you know. the usual.
the spiky blonde sat there, wondering if he should leave you or not. but seeing as you weren’t waking uphe decided it would be better to move you
bakugou let out a soft, woah he can be soft, sigh as he easily picked up your sleeping body. he walked over to his door and peeked out first, making sure the coast was clear
no way was he going to get caught carrying you back to bed like a NICE person, oh no he’d rather jump off ua
as he walked over to your room he couldn’t help but watch you sleep. how could you be so peaceful after he kept trying to wake you up
also, how were you still able to making his ears turn all red, even though you’re just sleeping. maybe it’s because you’re so close to him, or the fact that he’s holding you
goodness this just fueled his anger for his crush on you, no way he’d let you win his heart so easily. but it was already too late for that
bakugou was distracted, so when todoroki asked him what he was doing he was caught off guard
and this idiot DROPPED YOU
with being dropped you finally woke up, your back and butt hurting from the impact but it was nothing lasting
bakugou whipped around and started to yell and shout and poor todoroki, about how he shouldn’t scare people and that he was a stalker and...
todoroki was in for an earful, poor boy
well actually poor you, because you were sat on the floor in utter confusion. weren’t you just studying? it took you a moment to connect the pieces
and it it took you seconds for your cheeks to flare up from realizing that bakugou was carrying you moments ago!
you didn’t get to ask bakugou about it because he was still yelling at todoroki, only for him to stomp away angrily when he was satisfied
todoroki was unfazed and went to help you up, asking if you were ok and such. you were fine and went to your room so that you could finally sleep
you were definitely planning on trying to study with bakugou more, and maybe even try to find a way for him to carry you again

fic writer review!
thank you for tagging me @hrwinter !
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
twelve which really doesn’t feel like enough because i have at least twice that many in progress in my google docs woops
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
65,278 hahahaha
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
mmmm i think two ... point five. ish. there were some rough attempts when i was quite young but i didn’t get anything readable up until one or two for orphan black-- all of my actual work that i’m proud of is here in supergirl.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
a six-day exercise in denial
lip drawn constellations and pen marked kisses
accidental kisses and ill-timed visits from the deo
kryptonian tradition, or something like it
musings from 504
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
very very rarely, and mostly that’s just because i never really know a way to provide a meaningful response that doesn't just boil down to “thank you!!!”
and tbh i feel weird about this all the time because receiving comments makes me smile like an idiot at my phone and i go all squiggly and happy and excited so i probably really should be answering them but i just . i never know what to say that doesn’t look very impersonal!
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending
in which a half-confession breaks them both by a mile
7. Do you write crossovers?
nope
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
nope!
9. Do you write smut?
god yeah but a lot of it never makes it to the publish stage and i should really change that because sex is what gets all the hits lads
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not an entire fic, no, but i’ve had some scenes and paragraphs taken and hidden behind very thinly veiled reworks
11. Ever had a fic translated?
yes! a lovely person called R_H_Felidae_Athena actually translated a bunch of my little minifics into Mandarin which i think is the loveliest thing in the world
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
i haven’t! i’m not sure i’d be any good at it because i’m shit at deadlines and i also have very very little structure to my writing process and it’s a lot of “idk it just feels this way in my head” lmao
13. All time fav ship?
every ship feels like your all time fav ship when you’re in it doesn’t it? so right now absolutely supercorp-- i’ll admit i’ve put more time and work into this ship than others but i’ve had some that really really touched me and that i’ve put a lot of my heart into in the past
14. WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
ah jesus i have so many. almost two years ago i started writing an au (based on one throwaway line in s5) where kara and lena meet because lena’s running through national city and has a security team following her at a distance and kara thinks she sees a woman being followed followed and steps in and beats the hell out of the security team and lena can’t stop laughing hard enough to tell her they’re hired and then kara takes her to lunch as an apology
15. Writing strengths?
girl honestly i don’t even know i’m winging it every single time
16. Writing weaknesses?
fucking TENSES. i tend to swap between them here and there and then it confuses the focus or the intimacy of the scene and sometimes it’s very difficult to tell how far of a lens the reader is supposed to be watching through and it’s just gggaghhhhhlgjddj one day i’ll learn to write in past tense i swear
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
i’ve not really found myself needing that very much but if i did run across a scenario where it was unavoidable i’d probably try to find a native speaker before i wrote anything of substance so as not to be deeply embarrassing lol
18. First fandom you wrote for?
does the teen titans script i handwrote in a notebook when i was 9 count
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
i have a soft spot for this one because i wrote it all in one manic go and it just poured out of me in a way that worked so well on the first try and it got really nice reception and it’s by far one of my proudest even though it’s but a short little thing :’)

Fic Writer Review
Thanks for the tag @happygtyhvf!!
1. How many do you have on Ao3?
59 but not all of them are written works, a handful are simple manips or aesthetics posted individually
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
564,111.... And that’s only published works😅
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Four technically. There’s The 100, Agent Carter, Captain America the First Avenger, and Marvel’s Avengers.
4. What are your top 5 five by kudos?
Alternate World (23843 words and 386 kudos)
What If (Season 5 AU)  (33272 words and 310 kudos)
The Head and the Heart  (23448 words and 304 kudos)
I Choose You  (27364 words and 278 kudos)
Lone Wolf  (56405 words and 224 kudos)
All of these are from The 100 and only 3 of them are completed! Whoops
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! I try to respond to each and every comment asap. but on certain stories I try to respond when I plan on updating the next chapter either soon or the following day, just to give the readers and commenters a head’s up. Other times I have no idea what to say in response to not sound like a robot so it takes a while to think of something lol
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Ooohh That would definitely be Project New Generation. I am suppose to make a series to rectify the angst and horror and heartbreak of this story but I don’t know if I will anytime soon😭 If any of my followers have not read this it is not for the faint of heart and there are many TW’s in this.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I have written a few crossovers but in moderately similar fandoms. The its between  either Agent Carter/SHIELD Crossover or Agent Carter/ Avengers crossover.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, and it hurts every time. But lately I have been standing up for myself and being politely rude and telling the haters off. There’s no reason for the BS
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Sometimes, but most often only if requested or challenged to do so. Its just basic smut, nothing too kinky (I think I wrote breeding kink once? But it was mild and requested). I honestly hate writing explicit smut, it makes me uncomfortable. As someone who (TMI btw) Has no sexual feelings for people in general and has no experience whatsoever in the department, I don’t like writing smut. I can gloss over the topic but getting into details is not something I like to do at all.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
There was a app that copped fics and mimicked everything on the website and took many writers stores for profit. A mutual had informed me several of my stories were on that app. I have no idea if it is still happening or not
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t believe so
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes and it was rather fun actually!
13. What is your all time favourite ship?
Tough question since I’m in between fandoms. But rn I have to say bellarke, but peggysous is a very close second!!
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Ouch. I am doing all that I can to finish all POSTED WIP’s, however those in drafts? That is another story...😐 I’ll do one for each fandom. so for Agent Carter I don’t think I will ever finish a story of Daniel's past before the show with him meeting Peggy during the war and having a romance being torn by war. like they meet and fall in love and she gets selected for the Super Soldier program and is pulled away. Not canon related at all I know, but it was a idea in the back of my head I started and now has been in drafts for a year🤷‍♀️
As for The 100 I started a fic of Spacekru being able to listen to Clarke’s radio calls each and every day but never being able to talk to her. Each chapter switches POV from space and Earth and I haven’t touched it in months🤦‍♀️
15. What are your writing strengths?
I have no idea... does having a million ideas count? If so than that lol But in all seriousness I have no clue. If I had to guess I would say character portrayal and maybe descriptions?
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Same as strength... too many ideas. Once I start a story I get supper excited and then have another idea and abandon the last one for a while. Its even worse if Its published bc then I absolutely have to finish that story😬 Also I am horrible at tenses. I mix them up a lot and its a horrible habit!!
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I love the idea and when I see another language being used in stories. My only concern as for reading and/or writing this is accuracy. I am fluent in one language and know very little of two others I’m studying(Well trying to study) So When writers do use other languages and integrate them into their works, I think it is best to be as accurate as possible and ask for help form a native speaker if possible.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
House of Anubis! Though I will never be able to publish them (And I honestly never would if I could) They’re all written in a notebook back when I was 11 and I let my friend have it to read and I have never seen her since I transferred schools, so.... yeah.
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Uh.... That’s  tough one. I would have to say for Agent Carter my favorite would be Agent Carter an AU Series. This story is on Hiatus for now until I can find time to write it again but its just a soft story and a slow burn Peggysous with baby Stephanie. Its heart melting and I love it. Granted it need to do a lot of revision and editing but it is my favorite for this fandom. For The 100  I’d have to say The Head and the Heart!
tagging @bellamyblakru, @cuppatealove, @truth-renowned, @xxawalkinwonderlandxx, @fandomsandxfiles, and any one else if you want to! no pressure :) I just chose some mutuals that I know write fic lol

what tips would you give aspiring writers? i love ur writing and it makes my day!
Read everything and anything. Good grammar, ‘bad’ fics, hard novels, famous books, not so famous novels. Classics and contemporary. Thriller and Mystery. Crime. Comedy. Whatever. Go on Pinterest, ogle pretty pictures and save whatever your eyes like the look of. Pin little poems. Lines from greek mythology or retellings or poets on tumblr. Expose yourself to as many stories and voices as you can— podcasts, youtube vlogs, sitcoms, TV shows, movie series. Find what you like and write about it. Does the World Wars stories attract you? Is there something about human grief that you can’t put your finger on? Do you like to bridge reality and fantasy and entertain the ideas where science can become magic? Do it all. Read about it, watch movies and films and documentaries. Discover real people as well as fictional ones. Read stories with a critical mind, figure out what you liked and didn’t about what you read. Do you prefer to romanticize reality or escape to unrealistic sci-fi? Watch people give reviews about books, notice their points for liking or not liking it.
Read translations of a book not originally written in English/the language you read in!! Seriously!!! Watch beautiful anime in sub and gape at the beautiful translations, the idioms of a different language that’s been phrased in a new one. Read arabic poems translated to English and marvel at the way a language can’t handle the beauty of another larger one but my god, the way it tries is so beautiful.
Write consistently. Everyday. On paper. Your phone. Your mind. Constantly narrate what’s going on- third person or first or second, it doesn’t matter. Really look at the world around you, practice putting life into words and appropriate the beautiful way you will continuously fail at doing so because humanity doesn’t have the words to describe it. Keep writing- it doesn’t have to be good, or sensible, or even cohesive. Just piece together words consistently. Start with things like “The bird chirped on the tree” or “Adam shouldn’t have handed in his resignation”. My advice is to start with fanfiction because you have to worry less about character names and trivial details and world building, and be able to focus more on the core of storytelling/writing. Later on when you’ve mastered the art of actually telling a story you can breeze through the process of setting up your world because that takes little writing and more critical thinking/objective work.
Also if I can advice anyone on a single thing it’ll be this: you’re responsible for the words you put out as much as the people choosing to read them are responsible for their choice. So long as you tag and label what you share with the world correctly, you’re not at fault. Publish responsibly. Write whatever shit is brewing in your head, and remember that your notebook is your non-sentient best friend and cannot judge you even if you think it does, that writer’s block is a myth that can be cured with an interesting concept and something that injects your heart with adrenaline, that thesauruses are a thing, The Writers Help Writers Series can be accessed for free on the internet, Stephen King wrote It, Grief Is The Thing With Feathers exists, and Testament of Youth is very much there and you can be an author even if you don’t like dark academia lmao.
Thanks 4 coming to my TED talk lol. Cheerios. I have loads more advice but I’ll save us all the grief.

shiratorizawa sweater.
ushijima wakatoshi x reader (i tried my best to make it gender neutral!!)
honestly just a drabble i wrote at 4am, i haven't even reviewed it to see if it makes sense lol
it's like a fever dream, but more so a fluff dream, with very soft toshi~
word count: 654
Tumblr media
You came home from school, using your spare key to enter Ushijima's house and make yourself comfortable.
You were spending the weekend at his house, as your parents left on a business trip, as owners of a family business do, and his were away, separate, in completely different places, leaving the house empty for most of the day. You dropped your duffel bag on the floor of his room, and quickly changed out of your school uniform, opting to wear one of Wakatoshi's sweaters, even though you had plenty of your own clothes packed away.
Sitting at his own desk, you gave it a quick glance. It was actually a nice desk, with a few shelves to hold things. Of course, as Ushijima, he had placed all his studying materials in the cubbies, then put some of his volleyball achievements on the top.
The actual desktop was smooth, and you swept your arms across it, appreciating the lack of clutter, so unlike your own desk at home.
Unpacking your bag, you set your homework on the table, getting ready for the study session of a lifetime.
Volleyball practice had just ended, and while Ushijima was looking forward to going home, he showed no signs of it, both because of Tendou, and because he simply was just like that, true to his nature.
Silently waving goodbye to his teammates, he began walking home, knowing you had been there since school ended.
Opening the door, he peeked his head inside, seeing if you were downstairs. When he found it deserted, he came in, locking the door behind him.
He pushed open the door of his bedroom, dropping his bags on the floor, noticing your own in the corner. He shrugged, before heading to the showers.
Towel wrapped around his neck, with droplets of water dripping from his hair, he changed into grey sweatpants, but when he looked for their accompanying sweater, it was nowhere to be found. Not really caring, he took a plain black tee.
He barely noticed you just then, turning away from his closet.
There you were, curled up in his bed, the covers up to your torso, your fists grabbing it. He would never admit it to anyone but you, but you looked adorable, a sight he would like to come home to more often.
When he looked at his desk, he saw your open backpack leaning against it, binders and notebooks peeking out.
Smiling to himself, he took his own turn at his desk, spreading his homework the same way you did hours ago.
   "Toshi?"
Wakatoshi turned at the sound of his name. There, on his very own bed, was the sight of heaven, in the form of you drowning in his grey sweater, maroon letters spelling out Shiratorizawa. Your hair was slightly mussed, but in a way that hinted at domesticity. Everything about your appearance screamed, "This is why you want to spend the rest of your life with me," to him, from your cheeks, tinted pink, to your sweater paws, flopping in the air as you stretched, arching your back in a way he really did not need to think about for too long.
Rubbing your eyes, you blinked at him.
"Yes?" he finally answered, having been preoccupied with staring at you.
"Can I sit in your lap?"
In that moment, he melted, a gentle smile setting on his face. Before he met you, he had never smiled like that, but with you, he felt all sorts of gentle feelings, like love and protectiveness.
At the sight of his nod, you climbed out of the bed, padding your way to the desk chair. Placing your knees on either side of Wakatoshi, you sank into his lap, curling your arms around his back, your face buried in the crook of his neck.
As he turned back to his work, he decided he wanted to study like this more often.
not my first time writing fic, but my first time writing fic in a long, long time. hopefully i can get back into it, but i mean,,, s c h o o l
hope you enjoyed!!

What made you get into writing?
I've been writing my entire life. My mom has three tote boxes of my notebooks filled with stories from when I was younger. I wrote my first series when I was 11, I think. And I wrote this trilogy (with a prequel story too!) when I was 14-16. I used to do graphic novels as well;I actually had a Degrassi like graphic novel series that spanned like 10 generations lol.
But I got into writing fanfic after being so inspired by the works I read here and the feedback aspect of it. I've never really had my writing critiqued or reviewed by strangers before except for once, a creative writing course I took in college, and the idea of getting feedback and reviews and comments was super appealing to me, because I REALLY value and crave feedback.
So here I am, haha.

Hey! I saw in one of your tags that you learned the thai alphabet, how did you learn it? Like what resources and is it hard? I really really want to start learning thai!
hi! for anyone else reading this ask, THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE ABOUT LEARNING THAI. so if you’re not interested, scroll forward :)
okay so I did a really confusing thing that nobody should do lol, so in march/april 2019 I set out to learn thai after I was recommended this video on youtube. it’s a very good and helpful video, but it is misleading because it doesn’t contain all the thai alphabet. you’ll have to go onto their site and sign up for a free trial to continue watching the videos, and I recommend taking notes while watching them. it’s gonna take a while though, so be prepared. I think it took me between 4 and 6 hours to watch all the videos while taking notes.
after that, is where I fucked up and you shouldn’t do it. I gave up. I had started looking for resources online to learn sentences and words, and the resources are very few. (which is why I’m still scared to go into learning actual thai and not just the alphabet lol) so I gave up until january 2020 when I started getting into it again and actually learning my notes, which I later learned were incomplete so I just went into wikipedia and added the letters that were missing.
my actual technique was learning 3 or 4 letters a day, starting by the consonants and then doing the vowels, which I think is very important because some vowels are composed of multiple already existing or special letters that make up a cluster, which is fucking HARD. like, there are still some clusters that I can’t recognize as a vowel very well yet. so start with the consonants because those are only one letter so it’s gonna prepare your brain for the clusters lol
so to learn the letter, I would just literally right the three letters of the day, for example: ก = k ฟ = f/p ต = t which would basically translate the letter into their sound, not even letter because sometimes a thai vowel makes a multi-letter sound (ex: ใ = short ai) OH YEAH! there’s also the length of the letter hahahaha and some letters make a different sound depending on if it’s at the end or beginning of a sentence like  ฟ = f/p, but the videos will explain it all lmao. and then I would take those three letters  ก/ ฟ/ต  and write onto a blank notebook their sounds k f/p and t on different lines and then write the corresponding thai letter next to it. of course when it’s your first three letters it’s easy but when you’ve already learned 50 letters and wrote them again and again next to their correct sound it will be printed in your heart. so yeah the idea is to keep adding 3 letters a day into the list and do that guessing game two or three times a day and that’s how I learned the whole alphabet (though as I said I know some letters way better than others) oh and also download an app like quizlet where you can save the letters there and review them all the time! it will also get you acquainted to how the letters look on the keyboard, because some of them write a bit differently that they appear on it!
now for your question, is it hard? kinda. it is very unsetting to learn a whole new alphabet, ngl, but it’s not the hardest part of learning thai! for me it was way easier to start by the alphabet because it makes you feel good when you’re able to decypher what’s written in your thai dramas and actually be able to read the words (even when you don’t even know what this series of sounds means lmao). but learning the alphabet at the end of the day is just learning something by heart, which is kinda fun since the thai alphabet is so beautiful and really fun to write! so I’d say it depends on the ease you have to learn something and your motivation, because I had both of these things and it made it tremendously easier. but if you wanna start learning thai, don’t give up!!! that’s the most important thing, you have to continue learning what you already know so as not to lose it, and I believe that anyone can learn the alphabet quite easily if they put the time and effort :)
anyways, I’m sending you all my encouragements, you can do it!!!

Tomorrow evening I will be talking to @summeringo, founder of @infullcolorus_ on IG live as the #ifcalumna of the month! Summer and her WOC theater nonprofit has been the #1 cause of my tears of joy hands down, from my first monologue to first book credit to my first onstage performance to my first reading at my favorite bookshop @wordbookstores to a multitude of ripples of dear friends, wonderful opportunities, and magic making over the years. I wrote a damn long blog and some of this stuff is in it hehe. . I'll be talking about my current projects like building a folio for the Unsettling the Wor(l)d writing workshop which was taught by the terrific @dejesussaves and @the_operating_system has graciously offered my classmates and me space to publish. You can read my flash fiction about snow globes that display potential here. And I will add image and video descriptions below soon. Also you can see a time lapse flipthrough of my taste victory goals notebook which I bought from my talented friend @badjonesrising and to which I added a ton of ephemera. The hole puncher is a godsend and the devil's trick to get me to do too much lol ugh . I couldn't omit this sweet message sent by my friend Met. I am at once extremely flattered and terrified to meet such a HEIGHT. Lol idk what to pick haha. Once I read it, I immediately sent them a happy tears selfie lol. And actually I've been wanting to send those kinds of photos to the source which makes me think I might be purer than I thought haha. This isn't even the first time someone called me a pure soul! My friend Bonnie from college told me that. It's just right now I'm on that bridge trying to cross from utter self-loathing to truly loving myself and I'm not sure if I can ever reach considering myself a pure soul...which is probably what a PS would say right? Lol . These flash fictions with flash photography physicals hehe were made during the text and image class at @brooklynpoets with Simone Kearney. I resurrected my bookstagrams @abandonedb2dbc, a public art project, & @booksiheld, literary reviews & pursuits. And the final photo is from this morning's 🌄 on an anarchy house for my walking tour. Hope to see you 🔜 🎙 https://www.instagram.com/p/CI1-LVYAwg2/?igshid=mvt5xgqp6gol

BOOK | Unqualified by Anna Faris
Remind me to pay more attention.
When I was about to begin this book, I was blindsided by the subtitle that I have never seen and only found on the official title page once I opened it. This is not just Unqualified by Anna "Rhymes with Donna” Faris; this is Unqualified: Love and Relationship Advice from a Celebrity Who Just Wants to Help. Excuse me WHAT?! Turns out, I’ve been under a rock and this is the gist of both her podcast and her book. And here I thought I knew things. *facepalm*
While she may not necessarily be qualified in the love department, she is actually qualified to write a book. Or at least a little more qualified than some other celebrities. Our lovely Anna actually has a degree in English from the University of Washington, and that honestly gave me so much hope going into Unqualified. One thing I always struggle with is when celebrities are given book deals seeming to only sprout from their fame; most are horrible writers, but I suppose that’s what gives those books their charm, proving even in the slightest that yes, celebrities are just as flawed as we are, except with more money. ANYWHO, finding out that Anna knows her stuff was such a promising fact. ‘Cause let me tell you, if I based reading a book on it’s Foreword, I would have put this one down and walked far away. (That’s not entirely true, but you know what I mean).
Tumblr media
Let’s start by talking about the Foreword by her then-husband Chris Pratt.
First and foremost, I want to say that, knowing that Anna and Chris announced/got divorced shortly after the publishing of this book in 2017 kind of puts a damper on the whole thing. Not because it may insinuate to some readers that she should not be giving advice on love and relationships, but rather because they were such a cute couple and, as many fans said once it was announced, makes it feel like love is dead if these two couldn’t make it. So the dedication, the foreword, and the plethora of times she discussed her relationship with Chris throughout the book were all so sad. And the way she talks about him and the anecdotes of what he’s done for her... it really is so difficult to believe that these two didn’t last.
Secondly, Chris Pratt should not be writing. This foreword was so painfully awkward that, like I said, if I were basing my continuation of a book on that first introduction, I would not have read it. And if you Google the topic, you will find numerous online articles with this same connotation; we all agree it is baaaad. Not only did he spend more time talking about himself and how he doesn’t know what a “foreword” is, he also made it sound like it was just an obligation with a word count. “I love her and respect her and told her I would” was his reasoning. Not once did I feel like he set the mood for the book from a more personal perspective, as a person who was her family for a decade, but rather he was giving us a short biography of Anna – things like how they both grew up in Washington, how they’re both actors that play idiots (his Andy Dwyer to her Cindy Campbell), how acting is her passion, various traits of her personality (how she is kind and what he calls an “information collector”). There was one line that made me believe that he was writing this foreword as a way to convince us to give Anna a book deal as if we were the publishers. He says “Anna deserves this book. I can promise you it will be a great and interesting read.” Yes, Chris, it was. But your foreword could have provided so much more than a grade-school style report on your ex-wife. I’m so glad Anna also wrote her own introduction. If you do end up reading this book, please just skip right to her intro.
In the first handful of chapters of Unqualified, I wasn’t entirely convinced that this book was worth reading.  Especially during those times where she straight up admitted that she was giving advice based on speculation instead of actual experience. I’m not saying that Anna has to have experienced everything experience-able in order to talk to people about it, but saying that she didn’t actually have a relationship related to a certain topic just puts a damper on what she’s trying to help with. Like the list of men she says to not date; it includes musicians, doctors, athletes, chefs, therapists, and actors. (It also includes magicians, but I think most women steer clear of them anyways lol). With the exception of actors, none of those are based on her own personal experiences with anyone in those professions. She even says to us “I have zero experience.” So who should you date, as per Anna Faris? Woodworkers. Or a guy who makes boats, because they brood. *shakes head* Girl, I can’t even.
While I’m indifferent to the portions of Unqualified regarding her childhood through most of her young adult life (college shenanigans don’t really pique my interest), there is a passage that has stuck with me long after finishing this book. Anna’s childhood crush/ “boyfriend” (she was 8 years old here, call it what you will) had just dumped her. So she goes home, grabs an orange from the fridge, writes this horrible boy’s name on it in marker, and then proceeds to chuck said orange into the forest behind her family’s home as a means to get over him. Anna dubs this the “orange ceremony,” which she says she must have felt it symbolic, wherein casting fruit into the “abyss” would rid her of the emotions of the situation. She may have been a child at the time, but as an adult, I absolutely love this concept. This sort of symbology is very reminiscent of various practices in paganism. Obviously not her intent as I highly doubt she was a practicing pagan at eight-years-old, but the truth is, things like this can actually work. Some of us older individuals would just need a lot of oranges.
Tumblr media
The reason it has taken me soooo much longer to write a review for Unqualified (I finished it months ago, yikes!), is because I honestly just don’t know how I feel about it. My notebook is filled with pull-quotes and excerpts that stirred me in some way, shape, or form – and many of them, very good! – but as an overall novel, I can’t decide if I should keep it for a future reread, or donate it.  The only thing I feel that really sticks out in my mind about this book was how much I hated Chris Pratt’s introduction. And that is sad and depressing.
I did like that Unqualified was not just purely about love and relationships advice, and that it was intermixed with her personal memoir. I say that because there were plenty of times where her advice was not even advice at all. Like, for example, when she moved to Los Angeles with/for her then boyfriend. It’s reminiscent of an action many women take in tales of love. However, Anna also followed a career venture. This wasn’t solely about following her boyfriend out of sheer infatuation; if the relationship didn’t work out, she still had something there to fall back on, and that’s not something typical of an experience like this. Granted, yes, it’s kudos on her part for going for her own reasons, as well as for a guy, and it plays into her discussion of feminism at the beginning of the chapter. But in this of many parts of the book that was supposedly advice-driven, I made the note that maybe one sentence or one small paragraph at the end could have passed for guidance. At least, in most cases, she’s aware it’s not helpful.
Despite my typical qualms with books like Unqualified, at least for the time being I think it will remain on my shelves with my other keepers. Although her counsel is indeed questionable at times, it’s hard to deny how much I relate to Anna Faris and agreed with a good handful of the statements she makes in the book. And instead of doing all the talking herself, portions of Unqualified found basis from her podcast listeners through "Listener Responses,” as well as discussions and interviews with some people in her life (like Sim Sarna, her podcast partner in crime, and then husband Chris Pratt), and I like that aspect about it. It’s not just Anna retelling information from her perspective; it’s letting those people she has learned from have a voice as well.
I jotted a final note that I think sums up my thoughts on this book pretty well: Unqualified probably could have just remained a podcast. But for those of us not necessarily interested in listening to hours upon hours of content, the book is a good alternative, especially since Anna mentions in the beginning that the book is based on what she learned through two years of the podcast. A lot of Unqualified contained thoughts and experiences I personally could relate to and has happened to me, so, to quote myself “I suppose her book did what she wanted it to do.”
