Second-Hand Books
Rafe Cameron x Pogue!Reader
Warnings - Fluff, protective JJ, Reader is JJ's sister, but no description given. Hints of Luke being a shit dad.
As requested above
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
You loved the second-hand bookstore in Kildare. It sometimes felt like a second home. Its name and sign was by no means magical "Secondhand Books" written in cursive golden letters, but the atmosphere was.
The old converted shop was a treasure trove of wonders, tucked away in a little side alley. It smelt like an old library with its shelves filled with countless stories and adventures waiting to be picked up and read. There were plants dotted all around, and even ivy tangled amongst the fairy lights on the ceiling.
Mixed matched lamps, tables, and plush armchairs were scattered around. If you caught Ms. Peggy, on a good day, she would let you sit and read until closing. The old lady enjoyed your company, often making you tea and giving you cookies.
You returned the favour by helping clean, unbox shipments, and take orders. You never accepted a penny from her, even if it was desperately needed it.
"Wheeze, why are we here?" You knew that voice as it carried through the aisles. "The store up the road has brand new books, not these dusty, old shit ones."
"They aren't dusty. Some are old. But none are shit." the youngest Cameron's voice protested. "I like it here. Plus, there is no chance of finding first editions of classics in that one"
"Just look online." Rafe sighed as you peaked around the corner.
He stood close to the door, which bell had jingled as they entered, with his hands stuffed in his shorts pockets. The backwards baseball cup gave him a boyish charm as his sunglasses were tucked into the collar of his pink tee.
He looked a little out of place, but only by his uninterested expression. Rafe Cameron would most likely fit in anywhere if he wasn't jugding his surroundings.
Wheezie, on the other hand, had a smile so bright as she practically skipped into the store. "There is no fun in that. You can't smell the books"
"You're a weird kid, Wheeze." Rafe shook his head, but you caught the small smile as he watched his baby sister happily search the shelves.
"Shut up and help look for Little Women." Wheezie called over her shoulder. "Make sure it's first edition"
You were shocked as Rafe chuckled and held up his hands before helping Wheezie look. He checked the higher shelves that she was unable to reach.
One problem with Ms. Peggy was her store had no order to it. You had offered to organise and arrange in alphabetical order, but she claimed it took away the magic of finding the perfect book.
"Here." You smiled as you approached Wheezie. Rafe had given up looking about 20 minutes ago and was slumped in an armchair, scrolling on his phone. "It's not a first edition, but the cover is beautiful."
"Oh. It's beautiful!" Wheeze smiled, taking the book and admiring the cover. "It's ok, I just said that, so it would give me more time in here." she whispered, making you laugh.
Your laugh caught Rafe’s attention as he quickly glanced up from his phone. His eyes looked you up and down.
Damn, how did you look so beautiful. He was sure he'd seen the crop top you were wearing on Kie before, but it looked so much better on you. He loved the way your shorts hugged your ass and waist. He even smiled a little at the shell anklet at the top of your greyish white Converse.
"You find it?" He asked, having shook the thoughts from his mind and tucking his phone into his back pocket.
"Yeah, Miss Maybank helped me," Wheezie smiled, remembering her manners, even if you were the same age as Sarah. "But I wanna look around some more."
Rafe sighed and rolled his eyes at her pleading look. "Alright, fine. One hour, and then we gotta go."
As Wheezie bounced around the store, he flopped back into the chair, even picking up a book from the table and glancing at it.
What you didn't realise was that as you looked away, he would glance over the top of the book every so often and watched as you moved around the store. He noticed that you would read the back of a book, flick to the first page before smiling and tucking under your arm if you like it.
"Just the one, Ms Peg." You smiled at the old lady behind the till before digging into your old, tattered, looking tote bag and pulling out your purse.
"I can put the others to the side for you, dear." She offered as you had walked up to the till with a pile of five.
"It's ok. If they are gone by next week, then it wasn't meant to be." You said as handed her the cash.
You didn't know why you even admitted to buying all five as you should have known your card would bounce. Maybe this time, you had just been hoping that Luke, your father, hadn't run up the credit bill.
You wished a goodbye to Wheezie as she walked up the counter with a pile of books and even gave Rafe a smile and wave as you left the store.
*-*-*-*
The sound of a dirt bike coming up the road broke you out of the world you were emersied in. You had been reading your new book on the creaky old porch swing on the porch outside. Enjoying the evening coolish before sunset.
At first, you thought it was JJ coming home, but then you realised he'd come home an hour ago with John B and Pope. You could hear them laughing in the house.
"JJ?!" You called into the window open as you stood up, placing your book on your blanket. "Are you guys expecting anyone?"
You were a little nervous as unplanned visits from people not in the Twinkie or Kie's car normally meant your father or JJ had caused trouble.
The rider stopped a few feet away, and your eyes widened in shock as Rafe Cameron removed his helmet. His hair tousled from the helmet and his cheeks little pink.
"Rafe?" You frowned and hugged your hoodie around your body as you hid your hands in your sleeves.
He looked a little unsure of himself as he walked over to you, a cotton tote bag in his hand. "These are for you." He held the bag out to you as he glanced around, not looking at you directly.
You took the bag, completely confused before gasping as you looked inside. It was the books you had to leave at the store.
Before you even had a chance to question it or say thank you, the screen door burst open as JJ came flying out "What the fuck are you doing here, Kook?"
You tried to pull him back as he got right in Rafe’s face "Jayj. Stop"
JJ looked between you and Rafe "What the fuck did he say to you?" He asked you before turning to Rafe again "What'd you say?"
"What's it to you, Pogue" Rafe looked like he was trying to hold back his anger but with JJ right in his personal space it was hard.
"Stay away from my sister, pretty boy" JJ pushed Rafe a little "Get the fuck outta here"
John B and Pope appeared in the doorway but before they could back up JJ, you got between the two that were squaring up to each other.
You stood with your back to Rafe as you spoke to JJ but could feel him breathing heavily behind you.
"Jayj. Go back inside" You sighed and got annoyed as he stared at Rafe over your head "JJ, go the fuck back inside. I will call if I need you"
It took you actually pushing JJ a little for him to snap out of it. He looked at you before nodding "He tries anything. We beat him. He's on our terf now"
You rolled your eyes "I'm sure, he won't. But sure, you boys can protect your territory if needed"
You knew Rafe was taking a risk being in The Cut, especially after the stunt he pulled the other week. You knew why the boys were bitter as you hadn't been too happy either after finding out he'd jumped Pope at the Country Club.
You watched JJ walk backwards and stand on the porch with the others. You sighed before turning to face Rafe.
"I can't take these." You held the bag out to him, but he stook his head.
"They're yours," He said, rubbing the neck of his neck. He seemed nervous and not because of the boys glaring at him from the porch. "Bin them, read them, do whatever you want with them."
You looked in the bag again before smiling. "Thank you, Rafe." You smiled at him.
"I better go." He sighed after nodding at your thanks. He looked like he wanted to say more but walked back to his bike
"Bye," JJ yelled. "Don't come back. The Cu- Ow!" You cut him off as you shoved into his shoulder
"You guys are fucking unbelievable" You muttered walking into the house, leaving them looking offerened at each other.
As you sat on your bed, you pulled the books out of the bag before finding a note, tucked into one of them. Your heart fluttered as you read it.
'I would buy you all the books in the world, just to see that smile - R'

One Dress a Day Challenge
July: Blue Redux (+ Green Redux)
Agent Carter (s2e10, "Hollywood Ending") / Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter
Another dress with cutout designs, much like the purple dress from earlier in the season. The bright blue-green edging of the belt, sleeves, and neck really makes the elements pop, and also, it suggests the line work of a comic book panel.
I also notice that this costume incorporates elements of Agent Carter's two most iconic looks (see below), but with a twist. Blue with touches of red is a signature color combination for her. This dress has the double stripe at the waist, but blue instead of red, and interrupted in front. It also has something red on top, but sunglasses instead of a hat. I doubt it is too much of a stretch to suspect this was deliberate.

https://www.tumblr.com/missvelvetsstuff/719658565357420544/i-have-a-request-please-if-its-open
Thank you so much for taking my request.
So Steve and the reader met while he was on the run and he fell in love with her and Thanos blipped the people but she was there for him no matter what
He proposed to her before they got married Scott lang showed up and etc
Steve saw Peggy and started acting weird with the reader and after returning the stones he came back old asf😭
But the reader had a surprise for him (a pregnancy) what he wanted all those 5 years he spent with her and she got mad and he argued back saying he deserved after everything he did for the people😭 so she didn’t tell him about the baby and left
After a few months she was at the grocery store and ran into Bucky and his eyes were on her swollen belly and she saw the look on his face and said “yes it’s his baby” on the way to his apartment the thousands questions on his mind “did Steve knew his girl was pregnant? Why would he leave her? If i was him I would’ve never left her. Okay stop she is /was your best friend’s girl but he left her someone he once kissed.
There was a lot going on Bucky’s mind, so decided to locate her and find where she lives so he did find her and she was shocked to see it was bucky on the door
So he demand to help her and they became closer and more comfortable around each other and ofc Bucky told Sam about the situation and Sam told the old Steve 😤 and Steve tried contacting her but couldn’t but Sam told him where she lives and he saw his Best Friend and best girl kissing while she was carrying his baby he got mad and possessive/obsessive so he went back and came back younger you know take what was his before he got selfish and left🙄
You can add more angst I wanna cry😭
I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your request. It took me a minute to flesh it all out and it'll be 5-6 chapters. Hope you like it.
This story was getting too long for me to manage so I've broken it up into chapters and will be posting each when I finish editing. I'm almost done writing so it should be posted by the end of the week. It's been a minute since I saw Civil War so please forgive me if I mess up any details.
Apparently I'm unable to write short blurbs or drabbles, sorry.
As always reader is female and above average height.
Hope y'all enjoy.
The Wrong One
Steve Rogers x Reader, Bucky Barnes x Reader
1. Meeting
Warnings: swearing, angst
Y/N had watched the news about the Avengers fight in Germany. All the anchors calling it a 'civil war' but she was in NYC in 2012 and saw the aliens trying to invade. She knew that the world was less safe with the Avengers fighting amongst themselves.
After losing her brother in the Battle of New York she felt her mortality acutely so quit her office job, packed up her apartment and put everything in storage and left to see the world. She had no other family or close friends to keep her in the states and yearned for something different. At this point she had seen most of Europe but lingered in Ireland, entranced by its beauty and the wonderful people.
The bar in Dublin where she was working was quiet with only a couple of customers, typical for suppertime in the middle of the week, so she worked on inventory and organizing the storage room to make room for tomorrows delivery.
The bell rang and she went up to the front to see who was there. It was a couple, the man was taller than her and took off his cap as he walked in. He had broad shoulders and a tight t-shirt, sunglasses covered his eyes and he walked to the furthest corner booth, facing the door.
The woman, pretty with blonde hair, came up to the bar "4 shots of whiskey and 2 pints of Guinness." and handed her a bill "keep the change"
Y/N nodded "Thank you. I'm Y/N if you need anything else."
Y/N knew who they were even with their attempted disguises but she certainly wasn't going to help any crooked government catch some of the Avengers so kept her mouth shut.
The next night the captain returned with another man who was black and had an easy smile, obviously the Falcon. He came up to the bar to order their drinks and flirted a little with her.
This kept up for a few weeks. Always the Captain but he had a few companions that seemed to be on a rotation, Falcon, the Scarlet Witch and a tall slender blonde man that Y/N couldn't place. Black Widow hadn't returned since the first night.
One night the Captain finally took off his sunglasses and smiled at her which made her knees weak and stomach flip, he was beautiful. Every night after that he graced her with that smile. She wanted so badly to talk to him, outside of drink orders and thanks, but didn't want to intrude.
Then she saw something on the news about them being sighted outside of Dublin and they stopped coming in. She hoped they could avoid the authorities. When the pub was slow she daydreamed about the Captain coming back to sweep her off her feet in some grand romantic gesture and she would go on the run with him.
She laughed at herself for her childish fantasies but figured they weren't hurting anyone. It wasn't like she had men, or women, knocking down the door to her apartment above the pub.
A couple of months passed uneventfully and life stayed predictable. Until the Captain came back in by himself. She felt her heart speed up, butterflies swarming her stomach and a tingle in her core.
She smiled at him "Evening. Would you like your usual or are you feeling adventurous?"
He looked at her, right into her soul and smiled, making her feel faint. "I'll take a pint and..." He paused awkwardly and she waited patiently "and, your, uh your number?"
Y/N laughed and the Captain felt his heart clench, he hadn't seen anyone like her since...
"Are you sure? You don't seem like-"
He interrupted her, almost shouting "NO!" Realizing how loud he was he spoke softly, giving her a chill, when he said "I mean yes, definitely yes" and looked at her hopefully.
"How could any girl refuse a request like that?" and took his offered phone to put her number in, naming herself 'Barmaid'.
His grin grew until he realized something "You don't have an Irish accent. Where are you from?"
She laughed lightly "It's called an Irish brogue and I keep hoping it'll rub off on me but no such luck. It's been almost 2 years and some of my regulars tease that even an Irish brogue can't overpower a New Yawk accent."
"New York? Whereabouts? Brooklyn here."
She smiled knowingly at him "I already knew that, learned about you in school. I wrote a term paper about your friend Bucky Barnes."
Steve blushed and chuckled "When did you realize who I was?"
"The first time you came in with Natasha Romanoff, you were pretty easy to recognize. Don't worry, I won't sell you out. I've always been on your side."
Steve looked at her seriously "Not always on my side if you wrote a report about Bucky." He teased.
"I seem to recall you always being on the same side. I noticed you never bring him in, is he ok?"
Steve nodded, touched by her warmth and concern "Yeah, he's uh somewhere safe, getting help to get rid of the Hydra programming."
She smiled "I'm glad he's being cared for. What about you? Are you taking care of yourself?"
He sighed "Not many opportunities for that on the road. I'm more concerned about my friends, if we were caught....."
He left off and looked at his hands, not wanting to contemplate that possibility.
Y/N reached out to touch his cheek gently, smiling when he leaned into her hand, and pulled his face up to look at her. "You'll be in just as much trouble as they will." She cupped his other cheek "You need to take care of yourself too."
Steve closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying her soft touch. Feeling sparks where her skin touched his, a stirring in his groin making a small moan slip out. When he realized it, his eyes snapped open and looked into hers.
His eyes darted around the room, confirming that no one else was in the bar before he leaned forward until his lips brushed hers, his eyes fluttering closed.
Y/N could feel her heart racing, was Captain America really kissing her in a pub in Ireland? She moved her hand from his face to the back of his neck, pulling him closer.
He smiled into the kiss and teased her lips with his tongue which she accepted and the kiss intensified until they were both out of breath.
Steve pulled back, smiling "I've been wanting to do that since the first night I came in."
She tskd him "And we've been wasting all this time? For shame Captain."
He leaned in to kiss her again before she put a finger on his lips. "I'm actually still on the clock but closing in an hour. If you want to hang out until I'm done, we can get some food and eat at my place." She asked holding her breath. She hadn't taken many men home since she stopped here but how could she not.
His grin grew and he blushed bright red as he nodded "Yes, absolutely."
They spent that night talking, getting to know each other in between making out and discovering each other's bodies.
The next few weeks they spent as much time together as possible, both dreading the time when he would have to move on.
One night a month after they first kissed, Steve came later than usual and she could tell he had something on his mind.
After she gave him his drink he grabbed her hand and looked at her sadly. She knew before he said anything. "You have to go, don't you?"
He tried to keep the tears in his eyes from falling and couldn't find the words so just nodded. After a few minutes he composed himself and spoke softly "I'm so sorry. I never meant. I can't find the words."
She nodded sympathetically and held his hand "I know Steve it's alright."
"No" he shook his head "It's not alright. None of this situation is alright but my time with you has been the only real peace I've had in, well ever really."
He pulled his hand away and stood suddenly "I'm sorry but I have to go. I'll try to come back soon."
She stood up and went up the stairs. When she came back she was on her phone. She finished her call and looked at Steve with a smile on her face, then grabbed his hand, a backpack in the other hand "So let's go."

----
The daylights were in full swing, the radio was high and bright as he drove down the road to a old house he used to call home. At the steps of the house stood a man he hasn't seen in the late 80s but never forgotten.
Above the steps stood the man with dark rich blonde curls spiked in a nicely manner, a blue colored shirt and black James Dean jeans wearing a pair of shades himself. He sipping on a cup of coffee with a half smile to boot.
He parked the car in the east side of the parkway as he existed the vehicle, flipping the keys in hand and removed his sunglasses with a smile.
As he took towards the step he heard the man said, "Hank."
"JJ." He replied, as he was handed a cup of warm coffee.
"What was the reason for this visit?"
"You got my email didn't you?"
"Yup."
"You missed seeing Hope."
"It was an 8 hour drive! You know how hard it was to get out of that house without Felton and Rei breathing down my neck?"
"This is why I stopped babysitting."
The blonde just playfully glared following the older one into his old home. Jason hasn't been in this house of his in more than a century, having took time to take care of his older one in Malibu. Yet, he never had the heart to throw away the keys, so instead he gave them to Hank. And by god, was he glad he did.
His old home was kept nice and cleaned, some mess here and there. A few dust particles in certain smaller areas but other than that it was fine. Keeping its cozy yet vintage style. Hank sat down on the grey couch that used to be a dark brown, sipping his second morning coffee taking in the moment of peace. Jason sat in the armchair beside him closing his eyes.
Neither man had to say a word to know that they missed the peace and quiet this house brought. No screaming children, calls from SHIELD, nor nagging neighbors trying to get you to babysit their dumb dog for the weekend. Just a moment of total silence from the world around them.
Yes, truth be told, after 1989 Hank was never seen again towards SHIELD's main offices due to his stupid fallout with Howard and the others. But he often kept in touch with people like him or Peggy, whenever possible. Mainly because Hope wanted to see her aunts and uncles, and after Janet's passing Hank couldn't deprive his daughter from not having any closer family or friends around.
Jason tended to be his go-to person whenever he needed a quick babysitter for Hope, whenever the blonde was in town and he happily said yes. He first thought Hank would want nothing to do with him after what Howard pulled on the man, but after a small debate on that very day both men realized they couldn't hold grudges against each other.
They already had too many grudges over their heads to even count, why add another? It would only lead to a bigger headache anyways.
So over the years, Hank and Jason would put aside a small time to check in on one another. Make sure the other man wasn't dead yet. It was a running joke on who would die first out of the two. But at this rate, knowing the people in their lives, they won't let them get bury in the ground so easily.
Yet.
He peaked an eye open as he rested his head and asked, "JJ? You got what I sent you?"
The others eyes were still closed as he hummed, "Yeah. I sent the small package and if I'm correct, it will be brought though word of mouth soon enough."
"Good. I hope this guys is worth it. If he's smart enough, he will do as I planned."
"Why Scott Lang anyway? I gave you a list of people you can choose from and you chose him..."
"Scott Lang broke into Vistacorp Headquarters to pay back the money VistaCorp had been stealing from their users, before he brought into prison. Heard of it?"
"Yeah, he pulled strong a stunt risking to pay back all that money they took. According to the file, he has a master degree in electrical engineering, which gave him the skills to hack into their grid."
Hank smirked, "That's why I need him. He has a special set of skills as a hacker and thief. I want to test him, see if he's able to play the game right."
"If he can break into the lock and steal the suit, then he was a right fit." Jason added with a grin, "..he also has a daughter Hank. You know better than anyone the length you would go to see your kid. Chances are, he ends up in jail again."
"He won't."
"Hank."
"I have a plan. Trust me on this one."
"And I'll be here to say 'I told you so' when it goes sideways."
The two crack a chuckle knowing it was bound to happen whether they liked it or not. But if the plan does end up going sideways, they always had other ways of doing things. Even if it meant going undercover to bait Scott Lang into the older man's plan. Both spent the rest of the day catching up, watching some tv and grabbing a bite to eat.
None of the Young Avengers knew that Jason was gone for a short couple of days. Well, some of them noticed as he has been receiving calls from a few thought the day. Mainly ones from Rei, Liane, Rochelle, Ji-Hoon, Lydia and even Wanda. Hank commented how he was still amazed he hasn't lost his head yet.
"Who said I haven't?" Jason joked with a small chuckle.
"Who's watching them?" He asked in returning smiling.
"Elizabeth, Nat and Bruce. I hope."
"Oh dear god. Now, I gotta know, who's the hardest to watch over?"
"Depends on the day. Rei is the easiest at most, Rochelle is rather shy and hangs out with her friends..but Liane.."
"Felton's what? Oh. You can't lie to me, and not say Rei Stark doesn't turn your gears one bit."
"Rei does make me question my life choices, but I love him to death. Felton, she is a handful and a total bitch at times. It's why I always hand her off to Hill to taken care of. I need my silence."
That caused Hank to snort and laugh. He knew the man was too polite to say anything to harsh per say, not knowing who's around to hear him but if possible he will let a rip.
"Now that's the Jason I know, call it how it is!" He shouted as he tossed a chip into his mouth, "Half of them ain't even your kids."
The blonde smirked nodding, knowing the grey man's words to be truth. There are good couple of them aren't his legally or even raised them from childhood, but a part of him does care. Even if he wants to shut up half the time.
Hell, even the ants joined in on the fun. They are 247 of them after all, the ants were bound to make their appearance in carrying items around and or, helping them with alerting any incoming news on the heist they were waiting to happen.
--------
------------
Later on, that very night they went to the basement as they turned on the lights to reveal a high tech level of security cameras, microphones and chairs laying around. It was linked up to whatever humanity possible can find, in this case, the ants.
They watched Scott break into his house, as Hank seemed impressed by his work giving Jason a couple of approved nods, as they kept rolling the tape. The handy work, the levels of patience and precision Scott Lang had was amazing. His quick thinking and ways he moved around the area at quick speed was something he could only imagine to do when he was back in the 40s. Hank used to think and move that fast in the late 80s. More or less.
Without a better matter of minutes he took the suit and ran. They spend the better part of the next day, watching Scott and see what he would do.
That he was expandable. And that he was. Jason chocked out a laugh at how freaked out he was as Hank talked into the coms. Sadly of course, the moment he returned the suit, he was caught red handed by the cops.
It was Hope's doing. She didn't know much about the man or the fact that he had a track record he was trying to maintain. Which led Hank to toss a pair of suits over to Jason, telling him it's time to lawyer up, as the man rolled his eyes at his friend.
Once they were in the prison, Scott Lang was brought into a room confused more the most part, not understanding who they were. He didn't know about the fact that he had a lawyer watching after him. They told him second chances don't always come easily, especially for men like him, next time he gets one, he should take a closer look onto what it is. And he's smart enough, he will listen to them.
Thankfully he did, as Hank ordered the ants to get Scott escape the jail cell and be brought home that night. However the man got dizzy and past out, resulting him to be knocked out cold in one the guest bedrooms of the house.
Hank's house, since he had more tech and landscape to work around than Jason did. As they waited for him to wake up, the blonde went out grab some more supplies and food. He was hungry.
When he returned home with the items needed, entering quietly through the front door he heard it. Hope was here. He should've known she would've made an appearance at some point.
Tumblr media
"Please tell me you didn't call JJ." She said looking at her father with her arms crossed.
"I didn't call JJ." Her father responded with a sigh, trying to enjoy his tea.
"He is busy right now."
"I didn't call him."
She pointed to the brown leather jacket that was on the chair beside her. The one she gave the blonde years ago for a birthday present when she was in high school. Her father said he was borrowing it from the man's closet when he went to check on his home.
"You liar. Like always. Just say that you did." Hope remarked.
Hank groaned, "I emailed him."
"You tipped him. Dragging his ass here, for what? I can handle the mission myself!"
"No, you can't! He needed one-"
"You never listen to me!"
"Hope!"
She looked over her shoulder at face the voice who called out her name like an old memory. Only to find her uncle standing there with a stern look on his face, his usual cheeky grin was exchanged for a pair of lined smile and frustrated eyes that glared into her soul. He made her feel like a child again, getting in trouble for yelling at her father or running away from school grounds to play with her friends.
She looked down, feeling less than, muttering a soft 'sorry' in his direction as he simply nodded. He shook his head and sighed at his niece. He hated seeing them fight, he knew they had their reasons but she walked away a long time ago, just to prove a point to her father that she was worth it. And she already was.
"I didn't know..I uh, would've liked a heads up that you were coming..." She admitted for being silent for a moment.
He placed the bag of groceries on the table as he gave her a small half smile, "I know..but I knew you would've said otherwise and convince me to stay home."
"You don't have to be here. I can handle this."
"I know. But I'm here now, it's not like I'm going to waste a long drive just to be stuck at home listening to ABBA on the radio."
"Still. You should've-"
"Hope. Just don't. What's done is done. I came at my own risk and I won't be staying long, just to make sure a few things are in check."
"..I uh, I missed you."
"I did too."
She pulled her arms out to be taking in by his embrace. The warmth of his hugs always felt like a nice blanket as he wrapped her arms around him and kissed her forehead. She rested her head against his shoulder having another moment of silence to relax, sending a small glare to her father. She chuckled hearing her uncle brought her favorite ice cream from Basin Robins to help ease the tension, causing a tiny grunt from Hank. Her uncle smirked and told her to get Scott as she pulled away with a small smile.
When Hope walked out, he turned around to see his old friend sending daggers swords him. Jason just shrugged, "What?"
"You can't win her over with ice cream and hugs." He remarked.
"Yes I can. That's my job as the uncle. Make you look bad, so you want to work harder for her affection."
"That's not how it's supposed to work."
"That's exactly how it's supposed to work."
Soon enough, Scott and Hope joined them in the dinning room, as they talked trying to explain the situation to the confused brunette. Hope and Hank bricked as they did, as Jason tried to defuse the issue at hand introducing the trio. Scott listened along, trying to piece together everything they said, hearing how they were impressed with his work as well. He was offered some sugar, watching the ants push it around.
"H-how do you make them do that?" Scott asked pointing to the said ants, watching one climb onto Jason's finger with ease.
"Ants can lift objects 50 times their size. They can build farms. Corporate with each other." Hank explained.
"Right. But how do you make them do that?"
"I used electromagnetic waves to stimulate their factor's nerves center using a device. I speak to the Ants. I can go anywhere, see everything and hear everything."
"And still know absolutely nothing. I'm late for a meeting." Hope injects with a clear tone, pressing a kiss to her uncles cheek and a nod to her father.
"Be safe!" Jason calls out with a half smile, sipping his tea.
"Always am!"
With that she walks out. Scott raised an hand asking who the hell they are, what the hell is going on and if he could back to jail. Jason rolled his eyes telling both men to follow him.
Tumblr media
They walked and talked heading down to the basement to reveal a small headquarters as Scott looked around in awe. Hank explained the suit and his role in this as Jason finished setting up a few things adding in a jab or two as he went along.
"Pym tech? SHIELD?" Scott said muttering under his breathe as he followed their voices.
"Darren Cross had heard rumors around the Pym Particles. Something that both companies tried to keep under lock and key, with only a few knowing it existed." Jason explained.
"And he became obsessed with recreating my formula." Hank continued to explain holding a vial of Pym particles, "But I wouldn't help. So he partially voted me out of my own company. Hope was chairmen of the board, so that helped. But she came back to me when she saw how close he was with his process. But without a suit, the brain isn't protected."
"Causing a fiery sensational effect that can make the brain unstable. And Cross hasn't realized that part yet. So with our luck, he'll die."
"Be nice, JJ. Cross isn't the most stable guy to begin with."
Scott listen then asked, "So what do you want from me?"
Both men exchange a look as Hank walked over to Scott Lang and told him he believed in second chances for everyone. A redemption. Saying that if he does that, he can start a new path and get some insight wiped off his records. Scott looked pleased declaring that he will go along with the plan of theirs. Within a couple of hours, they all got to work.
Scott began to start training how to use the suit, understanding the plan and communicating with the idea on how to get into the building. He got learn about the concept of the ants and their behavior in the process of the world. Hope and Jason offered to teach Scott some fighting techniques to help him later on. Hope smirked getting a good swing at Scott punching him hard enough he fell backwards, as Jason snorted at their dynamic play between the tackles to the ground.
———-
—————
It got to a certain point where Scott was given the opportunity to learn how to control the ants. Hank acted as director for him, telling him to focus having faith that he can do it. Scott tried but it didn’t work. Hope groan annoyed telling him how he needed to commit to communicating with them, he has to mean it. The father daughter duo, once again began to argue over the subject. Jason reminded them on how the focus should be on helping Scott with the trails.
“Really? That’s where our focus should be?” Hope said, taking the device used for the ants and held it close to her ear controlling to do more than just add sugar to the tea. She caused to room to darken as the ants blocked out the lights, Hank caught her before she can act by further. Her voice broke as she muttered a few words at her father and sighed before exiting the room.
Hank knew he couldn’t do it without her. Since day one she has requested to be put in the suit, do the trails and get the mission accomplished herself, but her father refused every request she made. Jason knew the reason why. Scott noticed the problem being a father himself and went out to talk to her, hoping to knock some sense into Hope and have her see behind the act.
The two were alone in the house, standing in awkward silence as the moment of Hope’s departure replayed in their heads. Hank walked around the first floor, fumbling with a small piece of dice he found in the living room as Jason watched from the window the car sitting in the driveway with the two figures talking inside.
He broke the silence with a scoff, biting in the inside of his cheek as he said, “You have to tell her.”
“No.” He muttered in response, knowing exactly what he meant by those words.
“If you want her on your side, you have to break the ice here. She knows Janet didn’t die cause of some accident involving a plane. I know it’s painful for you, Hank, but she deserves to know.”
“Like you told Stark about his parents death.”
That silence Jason quicker than expected. He remembered how Howard and Maria died, when he was at his lowest moments during the holiday season. He told Tony what he knew and what he only could’ve revealed of that painful memory, going as far as to show him the photographs he dug up a few days later from news reports. Hank might’ve had a falling out with Howard but he was at the damn funeral for a short period of time before returning home.
Hank knew he hit a nerve and continued, “You couldn’t even wrap your head around fact that you lost them. Worse, telling a child their mother died and they never had the chance to say goodbye. I lost Janet that day because of my misfortunes during the mission.”
“I know, I heard the story. I can only imagine how you felt when it happened, when she shrunk down to that size..” Jason added trying to find his voice again.
“Please, don’t remind me, Jason, she went sub-atomic...”
“And you tried to get her back by studying for weeks on an answer to get her back”
“I made a mistake letting her come with me..I was stupid enough to let that happen..you know how hard it is for me just to relive that experience again…Hope might hate me when she finds out..”
“I know, she might but she will forgive you…Hank..you and I have made a lot mistakes in the past 3 decades. We made decisions that we aren’t proud of..thinking we are protecting them from harm..”
“That’s the whole point! That’s our job, to keep them safe and not be heartbroken by the truth. You only gave Stark the benefit of the doubt about his parents death and how it affected the outcome, you said he hated the world for it..I can’t tell her..we have secrets for a reason..”
“Yeah well, Tony could care less about his father…How about you only tell her what you can? When the time comes where she asks for more, you go into more detail about what happened. You are driving her away now…I know you hate the looks she gives you. You said it yourself..”
There was an unspoken number of casualties among those accidents that occurred during the death of their loved ones. Only so much information, they kept closed to their chest to prevent others suffering in those moments. The amount of consequences to their loved ones being gone felt like a huge blow to the head and stuffed around in secret.
Hank knew that, especially with the fact that his very friend lost more than he can chew.
He felt sorry for bringing it up, but it just didn’t occur to him the words would impact that hard. Hell, the memories of his wife were still so fresh in his brain like it was yesterday.
Hank ran a couple of fingers cross his hair muttering, “Sorry for bringing that up. It’s just…”
“I know..I know. But you do need to let her know what happened that day.” Jason responded taking a breath to regain himself.
That was when Hope and Scott returned from the car, about to say something but was cut off by Hank’s statement. He had a hand against the fireplace beforehand turning around to face the two of them, to face his daughter with the truthful remarks she desires to know. He slowly but surely explained what he could to his daughter onto what happened to her mother as her voice broke mumbling a few questions.
He did in best to answer them. It hurt to talk about it, as it felt like he was reliving the same day all over again. She wanted to know more but her thoughts didn’t seem to allow her to think straight as she teared up even more. Hank just told her in the end he lost her mother, he didn’t mean to lose his daughter too.
Scott ruined the moment with a quippy response that caused Jason to roll his eyes, telling him to go make some tea. Afterwards the four of them got back to work on training Scott and working with the plans they had in motion.
———-
At some point, Jason went upstairs to get something to eat and suddenly got another set of calls. He sighed deeply knowing they must've been from Liane or Rei, he ignored knowing it was probably something they could've handle themselves. They had to learn how to get along and figure out solutions to things without an actual adult fixing it entirely for them.
With a deep sigh he answered, “Hello?”
“Jason! Aha we might got an issue at the compound—dude shut up!” Said the voice that clearly belonged to Liane.
“Okay, who burnt the toaster again? Wait why are you at The Compound anyway? Your supposed to be at The Tower..”
“The adults went out on a small scale meeting, so we were left alone. Long story short, we had an incident at The Tower and decided to visit The Compound for breakfast instead—Ughhh Rei be quiet! Rick calm it’s gonna be fine—I was saying, we came here and Sam made us breakfast…and then..”
“Then what? Liane spit it out or put Rei on the phone.”
“Then we saw an issue and Sam told us to stay inside.”
Just as Liane and Rei’s voices were heard, along with the other members in the background, Jason was called downstairs by Hank to check on something. And let’s just say, he wanted to punch the older man for his actions. From the panels on the screen, shots of Scott fighting The Falcon to get inside Avengers Compound. Hope half smiled, annoyed and confused by Scott’s actions.
Tumblr media
It was honestly hilarious yet stressful.
He put the phone call on mute as he whispered, “Hank, what the hell?! You said that the item you were looking for was at an old building, not Avengers Compound!”
“I didn’t know that it was remodeled after all this time! You could’ve said something.” Hank remarked looking up at the blonde from his seat.
“You weren’t speaking of the specifics either! Oh god..Scott better get out of there.”
“He’ll be fine. Besides he’s fighting an Avenger, this can be taken as part of his training for the next assignment. What are you worried about?”
“Half of the other avengers are inside the building now and they’re a little terrified.”
Hope said an eyebrow confused onto what her uncle meant until she heard the voices over the phone and almost immediately laughed at the sound.
She couldn’t make out the voices very well but one caught her ears as she asked, “Is that Felton? Since when is she freaked out over something like this, isn’t she an Avenger?”
Jason just shrugged at this point and responded, “It’s a great mystery to all of this. And yes that was her. I can already picture Rei’s annoyed expressions. Whatever we do, we just have to get Scott out there and fast.”
“Or they might call the other heroes for assistance. Damn it.”
“Days like this, I wish my retirement plan was completely different.”
“You can always come stay with me instead. Wait, I’m still in the Will right?”
He winked at her meaning a clear ‘yes you are, honey.’ As they both returned their focus back onto the screen watching Hank navigate Scott across the field to fight Falcon, suddenly they lost visual contact with him as the ants couldn’t see what was happening inside. It went silent as the only sound came from the cell phone in Jason’s hand.
He raised the phone up his ear to respond, “Whatever happens stay instead. I’ll be there in a couple of hours to check up on—”
“About time you picked up the damn phone!” Yelled the voice that belonged to his first godson.
“Rei?! What happened to Liane?”
“I took it off her hands, she went to help calm Rick and the others down or whatever. I really don’t care. Do I have permission to take her down Felton and shut off the systems?”
“Permission granted—wait, hold off on shutting down the systems for a few minutes and then reboot The Compound.”
“Does that mean I’m in charge of everything?”
“Does it mean the house won’t be fire when I come over to check on you guys?”
“Yes sir.”
“Then you’re in charge. And please get a hold of an adult!”
The phone called ended with Rei’s voice being heard over the speaker as you can imagine the others not sounding too pleased about the news. Jason just smirked already picturing their faces as he watched the panels of Scott escaping and Falcon on the floor. Him and Hank fist bump at the process of the mission turning out decently well.
He knew Hank was gonna have a talk with Scott on his actions and how he handled it, but Jason knew based on the files that Scott must’ve gotten the item needed for the job.
And he was right.
Hope was very impressed with what he did as her father sighed in relief at the assignment being completed. Scott Lang had skills and knowledge to be used on a battlefield one day, possibly even a hero. The four of them talked about upcoming events that were set in motion as Jason texted his nephew for updates on the situation from earlier as it seemed like things have calmed down over there.
He will need to drive over there to check up on them later.
As of now, all he knew is that the four of them were headed into a very dangerous environment within the incoming hours. Especially after Darren Cross’s appearance at the household, assuming he was just speaking with Hank Pym, as the others were silently standing in the kitchen.
The next couple of hours were gonna be a wild ride.

Shenanigans
Tumblr media
Words: 812
Pairing: Jack Thompson x Reader
A/N: I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS MAN OMG!
Request: Hey! Can I send in a request? Maybe Jack Thompson or Captain Kirk with the prompt "Of course we're best friends. No one else would put up with our shenanigans."? No worries if you're not feeling it! Hope you're doing wonderful! - @captainsophiestark
______________________
“Remind me why we’re here again?” Jack’s voice came from beside you.
“To work?” you replied as you shifted in the car seat.
“This is the most boring stakeout I’ve ever been on.”
“Are you calling me boring?” you joked, turning towards him.
“The company isn’t boring but the stakeout is.” he re-phrased “Happy now?”
“You know me. Of course I am.” you fixed your eyes back on the building in front of you “How about we just go inside?”
“Y/N, no.”
“Why? We’re clearly getting so much information from here.” you said sarcastically.
“And how would we go inside? What would we even do?”
“We could pretend to be looking for directions. Look.” you pulled out a map from the glove compartment “We can just say we’re looking for somewhere random on the map and hope they give us directions.”
“You forget they’ve seen me before.”
“Just shove some sunglasses on and take off your jacket. Perfect disguise.”
The man rolled his eyes “How the hell are we best friends?”
“No one else would put up with our shenanigans so we have each other.”
“Our shenanigans huh? Please as if I contribute-”
“Remember when it was your idea to prank the whole office with the out of date milk-”
“Alright, alright.” he tried to shush you with a smile on his face “but you agreed to help me.” he pointed his finger at you playfully.
“That’s what I mean, our shenanigans. We couldn’t really do it without each other.”
“How did we even end up friends in the first place?” he questioned how it all started but soon remembered. “That’s right, you hated me.”
“No, I’m pretty sure that you hated me. You couldn’t stand to be in the same room as me. Saw me as dirt, the same way you first reacted to Peggy.”
“I’ve never seen you as dirt. It just took me way longer than it should have to realise that women can work just as well, or even better than men in this sort of work.”
“Thanks Jack, you’re a real charmer there.”
“At least I’m admitting I was wrong.” he nudged you slightly “That’s a big one for me.”
“I suppose.” you laughed remembering the early days “then we worked together a bunch and practically became inseparable.”
“I wouldn’t change it for the world. I think you’re probably one of the best colleagues I’ve worked with.”
“Alright, no need to go that far Chief Thompson. That’d be favoritism in the workplace.”
“I think they already know we're friends Y/N.God some of them even think we’re something more.”
You genuinely laughed “I knew it was only a matter of time. Hey why can’t a man and woman be friends without people assuming they’re dating each other? If it were two men or two women they wouldn’t bat an eyelid.”
“I suppose it’s because they can’t see themselves being friends with the opposite sex without anything else happening.”
“Gross.” you huffed.
There was a silence as the two of you watched the building but Jack was the first to break it. “How about we grab dinner?”
“Are you asking me on a date!”
“Y/N, god no. I’m just hungry alright? Would it even be that bad if I did?”
“Did you not just hear our last conversation?”
“I did alright. I like you Y/N but we’re friends.” he was panicking, he did like you slightly more than a friend sometimes but to him your friendship was more important and he’d never want to do anything to jeopardize it.
“Best friends I think you’d find.” you smiled at the man sincerely, you liked the man, of course you how could you not? There had been nights the two of you had been in the office late and you’d fallen asleep and he’d tucked you up. He’d saved your life on multiple occasions and you’d saved his. He’d also been very protective of you when other men had made seedy moves on you. Honestly, you’d love to be in a relationship with him and it was probably the reason none of your relationships had worked out so far.
“We can go for food, or a date or whatever if we get this stakeout over and done with sooner rather than later.” you offered.
His heart bounced out of his chest. What did you just say? “How about we just go inside then? Get this over with?”
“I love the change of heart.” you passed the man his sunglasses and gave him a tap on the shoulder before getting out of the car.
He scrambled out and flung his jacket from his body frantically before popping the glasses on and linking his arm with yours. “Let's go ask for directions darling.”
You laughed, you had to admit you did love undercover work with him “Sure thing.”

Alright, let's spin my sexy little wheel with every challenge, exploit, and perk in the game. 3... 2... 1... And it's landed on the Infinite Companions Glitch. Companions react to traveling as a group, Fallout 4 & New Vegas.
And what occasion would bring everyone together like this, I wonder
Fallout New Vegas
"I've had worse," Raul admitted, chewing thoughtfully.
"See?" Veronica offered some of the toasted night stalker tail to the others. Boone and Arcade declined, but Cass laughed and humored her. Lily daintily took a piece as well, and Rex snapped up the rest with relish.
"And that's normal for you," Arcade said, clearly dismayed. "When you're out on your own, hunting for supplies - you just cook up whatever attacks you that day, whether it's venomous or not."
"Beggars can't afford to be choosers, doc," Cass replied, crashing her shoulder into his.
"But we can," Arcade insisted, digging through his pack. "I've got pork and beans, I've got mutfruit, I've got cornmeal and brahmin jerky and barrel cactus-"
"Then save it for when we don't have coyote snake meat," Veronica suggested with a smile. "I cooked the tail, Arcade, not the fangs. If you really want to have a heart attack about wasteland diets, ask Six for their radscorpion venom casserole recipe."
"Very tasty," Lily rumbled, with a wistful look on her face.
Arcade gave up and began unsealing the can of pork and beans with his can opener. The tool broke halfway through the task and fell to the sand in front of the fire. The rest of the companions made noises of sympathy, and ED-E swooped down to scan it immediately. Arcade put his face in his hand and passed the can to Boone, who pulled out a knife and resumed prying it open.
"Dame eso, por favor." Raul nudged ED-E away gently and bent down to pick up the fallen can opener. He looked it over, then pulled a screwdriver out of his jumpsuit pocket and began tightening the faulty hardware while the eyebot watched with interest.
Boone loosened the top of the can sufficiently and pulled out a small, enamel saucepan from his pack. He dumped the pork and beans into it and set it in the nearby campfire's embers, watching it like a hawk from behind his sunglasses.
"Big day tomorrow," Veronica remarked, licking night stalker grease from her fingers.
"You said it." Cass leaned back on her pack and pulled her hat down over her eyes. "Almost makes a girl wish she'd written her story down. In case of the worst."
"You'll be fine," Veronica reassured her, though there was a little trepidation in her own voice. "We'll all be fine. A positive attitude is half the battle."
Boone shook his head and unearthed a spoon from his pack. Cass caught the movement and raised an eyebrow. "What do you reckon our odds are, sniper?"
"Hard to say." Boone crouched down to stir the pot of beans.
"We've done everything we can," Veronica insisted. "We got my family, Arcade's, even the Boomers... it might be enough."
"Enough, not enough..." Cass shrugged. "There's no other way. We fight, or the Mojave burns."
Boone nodded. Arcade ran a hand through his hair and stared into the fire. Lily patted Veronica on the shoulder, and the Scribe leaned into it, chewing her lip as she did. Rex, who until this point had been stretched out before the campfire, perked up suddenly. One by one, the companions turned in the direction of the cyberdog's interest. The crunch of boots and rustle of creosote heralded the courier's arrival, returning from their perimeter check.
Immediately, the mood lightened. "Hey boss," Raul greeted them. "Turn the radio on?"
The courier obliged. Radio New Vegas was halfway through Peggy Lee's "Johnny Guitar," and everyone around the campfire groaned.
Fallout 4
"Come and get it!" Piper yelled.
There was a mad dash for the first helpings of stew, with MacCready, Cait, and Deacon all elbowing and shoving to put their bowls forward. Codsworth doled out ladles with some exasperated remarks about manners and decorum, but the bot couldn't completely contain his delight that his cooking was such a hit. Curie, Preston and Piper formed an orderly line behind the first three ruffians, while Hancock finally shook himself free of the nap he'd been taking and stretched leisurely before the campfire, nearly knocking away Nick's cigarette in the process. "Watch it," the old synth warned him.
"Can you even process that?" Hancock wondered aloud. He pulled one of his own cigarettes out and touched it to the end of Nick's to light it.
"Old habits die hard," Nick replied.
"Ain't that the truth." MacCready sat down on the other side of Hancock. "Still find myself itching for one, occasionally."
"Strong hungry," Strong complained from the other side of the fire.
"Sorry, big guy," Deacon said, waving his spoon at the super mutant. "Cooked food goes to the FEV-free crowd first. General's orders."
"I still don't think we should be feeding an... a mutant at all," Danse muttered from the back of the stew line.
"Watch it, tin can," Hancock growled.
"Lighten up, Danse," Cait suggested. "He's going to kick in the Institute's back door with the rest of us tomorrow morning. You don't want him going in on an empty stomach, now do you?"
Strong stood suddenly and flexed his arms. "Strong go hunting!" he announced, before crashing into the nearby brush.
Piper took his abandoned seat and turned to check his meager pile of possessions. "Didn't even take his sledgehammer. He must be starving."
"Hunger is not known to inspire patience," Curie commented, sitting next to the reporter. "Puis-je avoir du sel?"
X6-88, who had been hanging back and munching on an Institute-issued ration bar, passed her the shaker of salt from Codsworth's supplies. Curie thanked him and added a dash to her stew. "How are you feeling about tomorrow?" she asked him.
"I am prepared," X6-88 replied, but the space between Curie's question and his answer was enough to betray the Courser's unease.
"You know, we could use a lookout to cover us," Nick said casually. "In case things go bad enough that we need to retreat."
"Retreat is not an option," Danse cut in. "The Institute's grip on the Commonwealth ends tomorrow."
Preston cleared his throat. "I appreciate the enthusiasm, Danse, but Nick's just being practical. Two of us should stay behind to guard the entrance to the cooling water tunnel system. If X6-88 wants it, one of those spots is his."
X6-88 nodded. "This would be acceptable."
"Fine." MacCready gulped down a spoonful of stew. "Who gets the other spot?"
The companions all looked at each other. Deacon coughed, and Hancock scratched around his collar, avoiding eye contact with anyone. "I'm not missing out," Cait muttered. Clearly, there weren't going to be any volunteers.
Codsworth, sensing an approaching presence, swiveled two of his eye stalks away from the stew he'd prepared. "Perhaps we should ask the general."
The sole survivor approached the fire from the southwest, huffing a little from their hike up the nearby embankment. "Ask me what?" they said.
"We need two rear guards at the tunnel entrance tomorrow," Preston explained. "X6-88 is one. We want you to choose the other."
"Oh, easy." The sole survivor bent down to scratch the ears of the German shepherd that had loped into camp with them. "Dogmeat. If he gets shot down there, I'll never forgive myself."
Deacon jabbed a finger at them. "I knew you loved that dog more than us!"
The sole survivor grinned. "He gets in way less trouble than all of you. Come on, if you're really that stuck on this decision, we'll draw straws."

What about for cmb the group taking a weekend trip to the beach or something? Bucky sees her in her swimsuit and he’s shirtless and she’s 👀👀👀 and they’re very cute.
this ask is literally from over a year ago but here we are. cmb drabble time let’s go!!! (i wrote this literally months ago and forgot to post it but we ball 🫡)
x
Truthfully, you would’ve never guessed that the gang found enjoyment in a trip to the beach during summer. If the fact they were constantly in leather jackets and complaining when the temperature raised even slightly above 80 degrees told you anything, it’s that they’d much prefer to spend a warm summer’s day under the shade in the clubhouse garden, sipping on cold beers and actively trying not to catch any rays.
But one morning, you woke up in Bucky’s bed, as usual, except you also had Peggy standing over you like a sleep paralysis demon (a pretty one, obviously), and you forced yourself to squint open your eyes.
“Up and at ‘em, _____, come on!” She chirped, tossing a black bikini at your face. “We’re going to the beach.”
Groaning, you reached an arm out of the duvet, picking up the top garment and holding it up to inspect. “This could literally fit a build-a-bear.”
“Well it’s your size, and I told you you might need a swimsuit for the summer. Of course, I knew you wouldn’t bother buying one, so I got you one. You’re welcome,” Peggy said. She had a duffel bag over her shoulder, likely filled with enough sun cream to protect a whole group of bikers from the Friday heatwave. “Plus, I thought Bucky would appreciate it.”
You scoffed, flinging the top at your friend. “You’re so weird. Please focus on what your own boyfriend would appreciate, thanks.”
Peggy just chuckled, giving you a wink. “You’ll thank me later.”
***
After setting down your beach towel and quickly rubbing some sun cream down your arms and legs, you plonked down on the towel and tugged off your tank top, about to apply some more to the rest of your skin.
The beach wasn’t so busy, since people were at work and kids were in school, so the gang set themselves up on a nice spot in the middle of long expanse of sand. Natasha was quick to put up a parasol and make sure she was completely in the shade. Sam and Clint had put down their towels and already started on the snacks that were meant to last them a good few hours. Steve was rubbing sun cream on Peggy’s shoulders while she leaned over a book, thick black sunglasses sitting on the bridge of her nose.
Next to you, Bucky already had his shirt off, laying idly under the sun with his eyes shut. Well, you thought they were shut, until your heard a wolf whistle from behind you.
You turned your head, and sure enough, Bucky was eyeing you. You snorted. “You literally see me naked, like, every day.”
“So? I can appreciate your divine beauty, with or without clothes.”
“Divine beauty. Thanks, Shakespeare, ” You snorted, passing him the bottle of sun cream. “Do my back?”
The biker took the bottle, popping it open and squeezing a fair amount into his hand. He sat up behind you, starting to rub the cream between your shoulder blades. Then down your spine, and lastly just above the waistband of your shorts. He finished with a pinch to your waist, to which you reacted by dodging the kiss he tried to plant on your neck after.
***
To iterate, you’re not the jealous type. Being jealous implies some insecurity on the jealous person’s part, and you weren’t insecure when it came to Bucky, because you knew you had him wrapped around your finger.
But there’s a group of girls a few feet away, lounging under a parasol and giggling while looking directly at him, and frankly, you wanted to climb on top of him and show them who he belonged to.
He’s blissfully unaware, almost asleep under the sun. And it’s obvious why he has some ogling eyes; his tattoos are all on show, and the sun is casting light on his large arms and toned abdomen.
It’s Natasha who says what you’re thinking: “Looks like you have some admirers, Barnes.”
“And a guard dog.” Clint adds with a snort, looking directly at you.
You grab an empty plastic cup and chuck it at Clint’s head. “Call me a dog again, Barton. It’ll be a beer bottle next time.”
“The fuck are you guys talking about?” Bucky asks, still lying down with his eyes shut. The sun seems to make him tired; it’s rather endearing.
“Gaggle of giggling girls at three o’clock.” Peggy grins, pointing to the right of Bucky. He follows the woman’s hand, while you just want the ground to swallow you up. If Bucky even suspects you’re having a jealous moment, he won’t let you hear the end of it.
The girls don’t make an effort to be subtle, even when Bucky catches them looking. He turns his head to look at you, and the smirk that grows on his lips is telling enough of what he’s thinking.
“I don’t wanna hear it, Bucky.”
“You know, I really never thought I’d see the day—”
“No—”
“You’re jealous aren’t you, sweets?”
“I’m not jealous.” You insist, but Bucky only stares at you patiently, and you can’t help but crack under his gaze. You huff.
“They’re ogling you, Bucky. as if… as if you’re a piece of meat! It’s inappropriate.”
Bucky scoffs, though he sits up and moves to snake an arm around your waist, making goosebumps appear on your skin even under the hot sun.
“Then they can ogle at this instead.” He says quietly, before pulling you close and landing his lips on yours, and who are you to even think about pushing him away?
Your hand instinctively lifts to his jaw, caressing it with your thumb while he digs his fingers into the skin above the waist and of your shorts. You’ve never been one for PDA, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and making sure everyone on the beach knows that Bucky is all yours (for now, anyway) certainly calls for desperate measures.
“Jesus. There’s kids on this beach, you know.” You hear Natasha tease behind you, and you chuckle as you pull back, lips swollen and heart beating a bit faster than it was only seconds ago.

Beach visits💌
Pairing: Steve Rogers x fem!reader
Fluff
Summary: Steve realised just how glad he is to have you.
Warnings: mentions of fights, Natasha’s and Tony’s dead; reader being pregnant; the blip; Thor being a maid of honour because I believe it’s what we deserve; let me know if there are more
Tumblr media
Steve had been in many fight before. In fact, his eyes hole life was one. Growing up in the ‘greatest generation’ as a lanky boy with no muscles and having no talent in talking to girls was bad enough. From then losing family members after family members, trying to join the army to help, many fights in alleys that he never won was a fight in itself. After getting the serum and then going into the ice for seventy years, waking up in a whole other century woth no one he knew was hard as well. And them came Peggy, who he found out was alive and Bucky, who was a brainwashed assassin with almost no memory of him was a fight. But it was nothing compared to the fight he had with himself when he lost in 2018 and you were turned into dust. His sweet angel, someone he considered his saviour.
Steve met you after the whole taking down SHIELD fiasco. He went under a bit, losing himself in Boston, a city he never thought he would visit. He loved going on walks there, no specific place to reach, just walking. But then Steve saw you. You were sitting on a bench, book in hand - The Great Gatsby - and a dog lying next to you with its snout on your lap. You looked flawless, in his opinion. In a pretty skirt and lose shirt. Steve thought that there was no one more beautiful than you in that very moment. Like all angels above have blessed you everything good with a little heart in the corner.
The way you began to talk wasn’t in any of your minds anymore. Who made the first move, the first kiss, it didn’t matter to you because you were together. Until the blip.
It was Steve’s first search after he realised it wasn’t just the Avengers but everyone else, too. Natasha, ever the good friend, helped him. They both searched for you, the angel that made every Avenger melt on the spot. When they realised you were blipped, together they searched for Yelena Belova, Natasha just told him she was important and to keep himself occupied, and because he was Natasha’s friend, he helped her, though both searches came out empty-handed.
After the final fight - defeating Thanos, losing Natasha and Tony - you found him. It was three hours after the final battle, or was it four? You didn’t know, no one did. But you were at the Avengers compound, running up to Steve and throwing yoursef at him. Steve caught you, he always did, always will, and led you to his room. It was just you two there and for the first time in five years, Steve felt a kind of happiness. He felt whole being with you. Like everything made sense again and he knew that if Natasha was be here she’d make a stupid comment about how ‘whipped’ he was and Tony would sarcastically fake gag at the sight of you two. But you didn’t care and neither did Steve.
After Tony’s futural, bringing back the stones to their timeline and coming back completely fine amd making a respectful grave for Natasha, Steve and you decided it was time for some time away. Packing your things and saying bye to your loved ones for an unknown time, you two made your way to the beautiful coast of Italy. Relaxing in the sun, on the beach with a cute smile on both your faces while building sandcastles and making fun of each other.
Steve looked at you, a small smile playing on his face while you layed in the sun, sunglasses away and eyes closed because ‘I’m sunbathing, Steve, I don’t want a mark of my sunglasses on my face, I’ll look like an idiot’. The straps of your bright pink bikini were pullin inside so you don’t get any white stripes there, too. God, he thought, you were easily the most stunning persom he’s ever seen. All natural but still so beautiful. He began to daydream about a future, one with you and maybe one or two, or maybe even more, tiny you’s and Steve’s running around your small house. It would have a garden, as you constantly reminded him of the little flowerbeds you wanted to have. Maybe even a second dog? He found real deep comfort in that fantasy.
He said your name and you opened your pretty eyes, looking up at him with a smile on your face, “What’s up Steve? Are you okay?” Leave it to you to always worry about him. “Yeag, it’s just- I’m happy, you know?” You smiled, still a bit confused. “I just- I love you. So much. Wanted you to know that.” You chuckled, there was always a slight Brooklyn drawl to his words when he was nervous so you didn’t know what to expect. “I love you, Steve.” Steve smiled and began to chuckle lightly,” “That’s- That’s great you know, becaue, uhm, I wanted to ask you something.”, he began, “What- what if you move in? With me, I mean. We could get a new house or maybe a flat. It doesn’t have to be directly, but you know, one time, maybe?” The smile on your face was bright, like he had just hung the moon and the stars for you. “Yeah, I’d like that, Steve.” Steve smiled brightly, “Great. Great, great great.” You giggled at him and kissed him, a kiss he gladly reciprocate.
It was a few months later now. After coming back from Italy with Sam throwing a dumb jab at you about ‘stealing his look’ you told them about the news, only receiving good response. The house you now had was in Boston, you grew up there and had family and Steve wanted to be away from all the superhero stuff. The house had three floors; the lowest with the kitchen, living room, a room for laundry and a little bathroom; the second floor with three bedrooms and a guest-bedroom, the one mostly occupied by Bucky or Sam and two other bathrooms, a bit bigger than the one on the first floor; and the final floor with a master bedroom, occupied by Steve and yourself and a master bathroom, including shower and bathtub, perfect to relax in. It was safe to say that you and Steve loved the house. You bought the house as soon as you two saw it and the money fit as well. It was perfect.
Now back on the same beach as months before you both sat there, anticipating to tell the other one the news. While Steve chose the place again, this time with a focus on asking you the question he wanted to ask you the first time you were there, you were there to tell him the news you hoped he liked.
“Steve?” You asked him and he looked at you, a slight deja vu, “I got something to tell you.” You knew his reaction wouldn’t be bad, you talked about it before and both agreed that you want it, you just didn’t talk about when. “I’m- I’m pregnant.” You bit your lip to wait for his reaction while he looked at you, a bit fonfused but then started to laugh, “You know, I already had the idea.”, he began, “You didn’t drink that wine you liked ao much.” You chuckled as well and in that moment everything felt right.
“You know, my plan with this trip was to have the biggest surprise but as always you have to top me,” he chuckled while rummaging in one of his bags he brought with him and took out a tiny box and opened it, “I may not be on my knees right now, but this should still count. You’re the most phenomenal person I’ve ever met. And I wanted to ask you this last time but I guess it was too early? You know, I- I had this big speech written down and I completely forgot everything on it so please don’t be mad at me,” both of you were crying with big smiles on you faces by now and he said your name, “marry me, I promise I’ll try the best to make you the happiest person on this planet and every other one. And I promise that, yes , you can have Thor as your maid of honour if you want to.” You chuckled before screaming out a big yes. The people around you all laughing and clapping. You hugged Steve while he slid the ring on your finger.
Now, six months later on the same beach surrounded with your best friends, you and Steve gave you the ‘I do’s’. Thor, your maid of honour as promised, a seat free on your bridesmaid place for Natasha and Wanda as your second bridesmaid, you were the happiest you could be with a big belly. Steve’s side looked smiliar, Bucky as hid best man, a seat free for Tony and Sam as his other groomsman, Steve couldn’t get the smile off his face. Even Nick Fury, who was the ‘priest’ to marry you, was smiling a bit.

All the chapters will be found on my master list posted at the top of my profile! Enjoy <3
Chapter One
I slid my medical personnel lanyard around my neck as I walked through the gate of Aftershock, running my fingers through my loose curls as I pulled my hair out from underneath it. California is technically never cold but it is October and chillier than usual so I opted for a pair of navy scrubs with a long sleeve fitted shirt underneath. Instant happiness washed over me as I was met with the sound of different bands playing throughout the area. A worker pointed me to the medical tent and I gave them a thanks before making my way to the others.
"Hi! Name and title?" A lady checking us in questioned.
"Maddie Lane, RN." I said with a smile.
She slid her finger down the page before nodding and placing a check beside my name. "Welcome and thank you for helping! Behind me you will find backpacks with all the supplies you might need inside them. These include splints, bandaids, gauze, disinfectant, two green whistles, IV kits, and a few other things. Since you are an RN you will be able to administer pain medication as well as some injections if needed, you just have to get them from any medical table you see. You get free food and refreshments while you are here, just show them your lanyard. We like to just make our way around the crowds and check them out. You have full access to in front of the barriers along with backstage, so I would make at least one round backstage per stage to check on the performers and make sure all is well. You can find banana bags back there on carts if any of them are dehydrated. Come see me if you have any questions! My name is Peggy. "
I smiled at her. "Thank you, Peggy."
"You're welcome! Oh, pick up one of the radios too." She said.
I made my way behind her table to grab a lime green backpack and slung it around my shoulders, tightening the straps so it sat comfortably on my back. I took my sunglasses off my scrub top and placed them on my face, the bright California sun straining my eyes. I started making my way to the first stage next to us and walking around the crowd. A couple girls came up to ask me if there was any water close by so I went and grabbed them a couple bottles at a medical tent, receiving enthusiastic thank you's in return. I smiled at them before making my way around the rest of the crowd, everyone on the outside looking good to go. I walked to the side of the stage and showed security my lanyard before being shuffled backstage so I could check on the workers and performers at that area.
I introduced myself to a few of the workers, telling them to let me know if they needed anything. They thanked me for my help before I began making my way further backstage to find any performers who might've indulged in a few too many drinks before showtime. I rounded a corner and saw a sitting area, a man laying on a long red couch with his arm over his eyes. I walked to his side and crouched down, taking my backpack off to set on the floor beside me. I placed my hand gently on his shoulder, causing him to jump and uncover his squinted eyes.
"Hi, my name is Maddie. I'm a nurse working the festival today. Are you alright?" I questioned, looking into his dark brown eyes.
He shook his head no and squeezed his eyes shut. "I don't think so. I feel weird."
"Ok." I said, unzipping my backpack. "Can you tell me your name?"
"Daniel." He mumbled as he covered his eyes again.
"Have you drank any water today, Daniel?" I questioned, finding an IV kit in the bag. He shook his head no and I nodded in confirmation. "Alright, Daniel. When do you go on?"
He uncovered his eyes to check his watch, squinting to try and focus on it. "Thirty minutes."
I sighed and pushed myself off the ground to grab a banana bag off the cart behind me, returning to his side and sitting back down. "I'm gonna start an IV and try and get some fluids into you before then."
He groaned into his arm, causing me to chuckle. "A needle?"
I opened the IV kit with a laugh, slipping on some gloves from my bag. "It'll be quick and minimal pain, I promise."
He signed and laid his arm onto the couch beside me so I could look it over. "Ok, but if it's super painful I'm telling the whole crowd you hurt me."
I laughed as I rubbed an alcohol swab over a vein I chose. "Deal." I prepped the tubing for the bag before opening the needle. "Ready?"
He nodded and looked away from the needle as I anchored my finger on his skin. I smoothly inserted the IV, advancing the catheter and removing the needle from his skin before taping everything down. I hooked up all of the tubing and hung the bag from a clothing rack that was beside the couch before pushing myself off the ground, patting the man on his shoulder.
"This will be done by the time you're due on stage. There's medical staff running around who can take out the catheter for you." I said, zipping my bag up and tossing it onto my back.
"Thank you, Maddie." He said, giving me a nod.
I smiled at him. "Of course." I said before walking away and making my way around the back of the rest of the stage area.
Everyone denied any needs, so I left the backstage area to make my way to another concert area. I slowed my stride as I looked around, taking in all the music surrounding me. A content smile slid onto my face at the sound of all the music. I'm a big music fan but hold a special place in my heart for the metal and rock genres. I made my way around the next crowd, noticing a group was waving me to the front of the barricade. I picked up my pace to make it to the front, excusing myself when I'd bump into people. I briefly looked up at the stage to see who was playing, seeing none other than Noah Sebastian with his siren voice putting on the show of his life with the rest of the band. I forced myself to look away and push down the fan inside me as I made it to the front of the barricade.
Security had pulled a girl over so that she was standing in front of it, leaned over bracing herself on her knees as she struggled to breathe. I laid my hand on her back once I made it to her side, causing her to look over at me. Panic was written all over her face, her eyes wide and mouth hanging open, trying to take in as much oxygen as she could.
"Hi, I'm Maddie." I said, showing her my RN lanyard. "You having trouble breathing?"
She nodded frantically at me, grabbing at her chest before taking one deep breath and collapsing on the ground. Gasps echoed over the music as I grabbed her head before it hit the ground and I went to my knees beside her. I checked her pulse and noticed she no longer had one and immediately snapped into crisis mode, throwing my backpack off. I put my hands on her chest to begin compressions, counting to myself each one I did.
"Somebody radio for more help and have them bring an ambu bag." I said through my heavy breathing.
I went into tunnel vision as I continued pumping her chest, stopping every 30 to check her pulse. A group of medical personnel joined my side after a little bit, oxygenating her for me as I switched out with another worker. I took deep breaths through my nose and let them out through my mouth while I checked her pulse, letting the worker know she still didn't have one. They continued to perform compressions as I placed the AED pads on her chest. I switched back in to perform more compressions, counting out loud so they could monitor them. The AED let out a loud beeping from beside me and I turned to look at it, the screen signaling that we got a pulse back. I took my hands off her chest and rested them on my thighs, sitting back on my heels as my chest heaved up and down. The girl's eyes slowly opened and she looked at me in confusion.
I placed my hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you're ok. We've got you."
She grimaced, squeezing her eyes shut. "Ow." She said, causing me to chuckle and let out a sigh of relief.
Cheers erupted around us and I looked up to notice Bad Omens had stopped their set and were cheering along with the crowd. I slightly grinned at the lead singer before turning back to the crowd and giving them a small wave as the girl was put on a gurney and rolled off to the ambulance. The other workers pat me on the back as I picked my backpack back up and I sent them smiles in return.
"Everything ok now?" Noah asked me, crouched down so he could talk to me without the mic.
I nodded. "All under control."
"Good job." He said with a crooked grin before standing back up and continuing their set.
I stifled my grin before making my way backstage to check on other artists back there. I set up three IV's before Bad Omens came off stage, hyped up off of the high from performing in front of all those people. I paused my conversation with the performer I was hooking up to fluids to look at the band. The drummer high fived all the boys before quickly running over to the closest trash can, emptying the contents of his stomach into it. I patted the shoulder of the man I was helping before grabbing my bag and walking over to him, placing my hand on his back as he caught his breath.
"Why don't you come lay down." I said, rubbing his back softly as I guided him to the couch beside him. He laid down on it and threw his arm over his eyes with a groan. "Have you drank water today?"
"Does beer count?" He mumbled, causing me to chuckle.
"Not at all." I said as I unzipped my backpack.
He turned to look at me with furrowed brows when he heard the sound of packages being opened. "What are you doing?"
"I gotta get you hydrated." I said, grabbing a bag of saline off of the side table.
He groaned and poked his bottom lip out. "Do you have to?"
"If you don't want to stroke out, yes." I said, looking at him as he pouted.
His eyes got wide before nodding his head. "Ok yes please help needle mommy."
I laughed out loud as I opened everything and started looking over the veins in his arm. "My name's Maddie."
"Hi Maddie, I'm Nick. Or Folio. Or drummer." He said, causing me to chuckle again.
"Hi Nick. I'm going to poke you now." I said, giving him a warning before inserting the IV.
He grimaced before relaxing more into the couch. I hung up the bag on a stand before injecting some anti-nausea medications with some vitamins into the bag, turning it a bright shade of yellow.
Nick turned to me, color already returning to his face as the fluids entered his veins. "You're the one who saved that girl, aren't you?"
I grinned at him as I made sure the tape was secure on his arm. "I had help."
"But you jumped in without any hesitation. It was impressive." He said, a high pitched chuckle escaping him.
I smiled at him as I fully sat down, criss crossing my legs. "Thank you."
He closed his eyes with a sigh, relaxation taking over him. A tall shadow washed over me before I turned to see Noah squatting down beside me. "I'm Noah." He said, extending his hand to me.
I shook it with a smile. "Maddie. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too. He gonna be alright?" He asked, gesturing to Nick.
I looked over at the sleeping man, nodding my head with a breathy laugh. "He should live to drum another day."
"Good. Thank you, Maddie." Noah said, squeezing my shoulder as I smiled at him. "That was pretty impressive what you did outside earlier."
"It was nothing." I said, breaking eye contact as my inability to accept compliments rose up.
"It wasn't nothing, but you're welcome." Noah said with a chuckle.
I cut my eyes at him before I could stop myself, causing him to laugh louder once I realized what I did.
"Noah your laugh is too loud right now." Nick said behind his arm.
Noah jutted his head to the side, motioning for me to follow him further into the backstage area. I zipped up my bag and followed him, quickly checking on the others who were receiving fluids as well. He stopped at the hydration station to fill up a cup of water, handing me one as well. I smiled at him in thanks before gulping it down, cotton mouth almost taking over.
"So is this all that you do, or do you work as a nurse somewhere else?" He questioned as he leaned against the table.
"Oh, I work at the hospital. I don't get paid for this." I said with a chuckle.
His eyes got wide. "You put in all this work for nothing in return?"
I laughed. "I help because I can."
"Very selfless of you." He said, filling his cup up with more water.
I smiled at him as I took another sip of water. "Thank you, I think."
"So, I have a crazy idea." He said, tossing his empty cup in the trash and turning to face me.
I tossed my own into the trash and furrowed my brows at him. "I'm listening."
"How would you feel about coming along with us on tour and being a tour nurse?" He questioned, crossing his arms across his chest. "That is, if you're not too attached to the hospital."
My eyes widened at his question. "Me?"
He chuckled with a nod. "Yes, Maddie, you."
I thought about the idea for a few moments before answering. "The only thing I love more than working in the ER is music."
"Then come pursue your first love with us." He said, eyes boring deeply into mine.
"I would need time to put in my notice." I said.
He shrugged. "We have a month before tour."
I chewed on the inside of my lip before answering. "I'm in."

Pairing: Steve Rogers x Fem!reader
Warning: Angst, Fluff, 18+ content (Minors DNI)
A/n: A very special to thanks @sunshine-on-my-mind for helping me out with this chapter. Meera, I wouldn't be able to do it without your help. Thankyou for your endless support.
~*~
Dear Y/n,
I thought it was time to let you know about what happened, and if you have figured it out by yourself, I’m not surprised it took you so long.
Our mother, had made me a pawn in her game. She had framed our father and alleged him of cheating when in truth she was the one who had an affair.
And she had always played games with our family for her own gain. She used me to separate you and Steve and manipulated me.
Steve was drugged. He never cheated on you while you two were together. What happened after that- it’s better to not think about.
Also, few years ago I heard couple a rumours swirling around the firm that our mother might have a hand behind Joseph Rogers death. Yes, it wasn’t just a cardiac arrest. I ignored them in the beginning but a lot of things about her behaviour has started surfacing recently and I had to probe.
I’m sending you whatever evidence I pulled off of our mother’s transgression. You are not as naive as you were before, so I hope you wisely decide what to do with this information. I apologise for not using my own brain and be a tool in our mother’s game.

Regards,
Peggy

Tiny specks of dust seemed to dance in the shaft of afternoon sunlight that slanted through the long glass window. Y/n pressed her temple harder from her left hand while still trying to remain focus on the designs in front of her. The sun light had started to cause her eyes squint making her migraine ten times more worse. She pressed the button on the extension phone to call Lily in her office and as soon as she came in, she rushed towards the desk where Y/n was seated with her face hidden in her hands.

“Are you okay?” Lily asked worried.

“Just migraine, can you please close the blinds and turn off the extra lights?” Y/n said in a low voice.

“Sure. Do you want me to call the doctor or something. You don’t look good.”

“No, no. I’ll be fine, just gonna sleep it off. Call me an Uber and go through these files, and give ‘em to Steve in the meeting. He’ll have it discussed with the financers.”

“Okay. Do you want me to tell Wanda or Mr. Rogers about you leaving early?”

“Oh no, no need. Just inform them in the meeting.”

“Okay. Are you sure you don’t want to see the doctor?” she was genuinely concerned.

“No Lily! I’ll be fine.”

“Okay, okay. Your Uber is 5 minutes away.”

“Okay, thank you Lily.” Y/n tried to stand up on her feet not without a faltered step, she immediately hold the edge of the table. She took her sunglasses out of her bag and put them on. Taking off her heels and holding them in her hand she slid her purse on the shoulder and walked towards the elevator. Lily offered to accompany her to the ground level where the ride was waiting for her but she refused.

It had been a week and a half since she’d been sitting on the email she received from Peggy. It took her couple days before deciding that she should share the content of the email with her father before saying anything to Steve. But Wanda and her had planned a vacation trip for Daniel and Alice for their wedding anniversary and she couldn’t burden her father with this vile  information she knew nothing about. It was better to wait for them to come back and then she’d accost the issue.

Peggy’s confession didn’t exactly make her feel relieved that Steve was blameless, deep down she knew that and the confirmation had just stamped Steve’s innocence. Her heart was breaking for Steve and the burden of guilt he had been carrying for four years. She didn’t remember how many times in the past week she wanted to just hold him tight, and protect him for whatever this was but she couldn’t do anything but wait for her parents to come back. She wasn’t even sure if she could completely trust Peggy and  because of the extra information Peggy had given her about Steve’s dad had her mind numb with thinking of different scenarios and things that could go wrong. Keeping everything from Steve was right thing to do for now. It was her way of protecting him from the inevitable but the least she could do was try.

Steve was in his office with few other people from the finances to discuss the yearly expenses when Lily entered the room with a gentle knock. She placed the file in front of Steve.

“Where’s Y/n?” Steve asked a little confused when Lily started telling him and everyone else the details of the file that Y/n had managed to complete.

“She left early. She wasn’t feeling well.” Lily said fixing her glasses on her nose as a nervous habit.

“She was fine this morning.” Steve almost mumbled to himself. “Lily, what is it? She had prepared this file, and is expected to lay out the plan.”

Steve didn’t mean to come off as harsh as he sounded. He apologised immediately to Lily when he saw her flinched.

“She was having a splitting migraine. I booked her an Uber on her request, could barely hold herself together.”

“Why didn’t you inform me?” Steve’s voice was low and full of concern. Other people could see the softness and worry in Steve’s expressions.

“I wanted to but she stopped me. Told me not to disturb you before meeting.”

“Well, there’s no point of having this meeting when Y/n’s not here. She had worked hard on planning the yearly spends, I can’t decide on the plans without giving this file a thorough read.” Steve said standing up on his feet, “I’m sorry guys, but I think we’re holding up on this meeting for couple a days -  good thing we still have time, so a little delay won’t be bad.” He dismissed the meeting with a tight lipped smile. His mind was wrapped up in the news Lily just gave him. He had been distant from Y/n after seeing her and Andy the night he stayed at her house. It wasn’t intentional, the hurt was doubled with fear, the fear of losing her for good had him thinking worst possibilities He kept the interaction between them bare minimum, and wasn’t surprised when Y/n didn’t make an effort to reach out to him, not that he was expecting her to be. He was just in his head that he didn’t even notice that Y/n was also uncharacteristically quiet, even with Malcolm she was not engaging. They both were in their own heads and none of them noticed that.

Steve entered Wanda’s studio that was on the top floor of the building and spotted her working on one of her many master creations. Steve looked around and silently praised her hard work.

“Wanda..” Steve cleared his throat, “I’m going to pick Malcolm up and head to Y/n's.”

“Mhmm...” She nodded, eyes still glued on the mannequin in front of her.

“Y/n has already left. She wasn’t feeling good.” Steve said again when Wanda didn’t say anything.

“Why? What happened?” She finally looked at him with a slight frown.

“Lily said she was having a migraine so she left. I’m just going to go check on her... if she needs something.”

“Oh no! She’s got migraine.” Wanda whispered to herself. “Okay, keep me posted, I’ll drop by once I’m done with this.” She said mentally figuring out her busy schedule.

“Sure.” With that Steve left. Something was not right, he could feel it in his heart. Worry started to take over him as he sped up the car. An unsettling feeling had crept into his heart the moment he entered Y/n’s house. He put down Malcolm from his arms on the floor.

“Y/n?” He called. He made his way up the stairs and into Y/n's room, Malcolm hot on his tail. He could hear the low voice of coughing from the bathroom.

“Y/n? You okay?” He peeked into the bathroom from the door, seeing Y/n bent over the toilet, vomiting and coughing. In long strides he covered the distance and sat on the floor, legs drawing on either side of her, he gently pulled her hair back from one hand and slowly rub her back.

“S – Steve, just go. It’s gross.” Y/n said in a low raspy voice. She slumped against Steve’s chest, on the cold tiled floor of the bathroom. Steve wrapped his arm around her protectively.

“Do you want me to call the doctor? We can go to any walk-in clinic? Do you need some meds? Y/n... sweetheart?” his voice was laced with concern and worry. Malcolm came to stand in the door way, clutching his stuffed puppy, worried seeing his mama like that.

“Mama?” Malcolm’s voice wavered with emotions. Steve and Y/n both looked at Malcolm’s who had tears in his eyes now.

“Mal-pal, go get mama’s pain meds. You know which one right.” Y/n said in a barely audible voice. “I’ll be fine, Steve. Don’t worry.” Her head was throbbing in pain. Malcolm made his way towards the sink cabinets, he stood on the step-stool and  opened the left one and took out a bottle of prescribed medicine. As he came towards Y/n , she felt another wave of nausea hit her, crouching over the toilet she spewed the contents of her stomach. Steve, again pulled her hair back and rubbed her back. Malcolm grabbed the towel from the sink counter and brought it to his mama and handed her the painkillers.

“Mama pwease be okay.” His lower lip trembled and Y/n opened her arms to hold him while still seated between Steve’s legs.

“I’m okay, sweetheart. I just have a headache. I’ll be okay when I wake up. You know that right, Mal-pal?”

Malcolm nodded, kissing her on the face. He stepped back and hold out his hand to hold her, so that he could take his mama to the bedroom. Steve was silently witnessing them, his heart clenched assuming that this wasn’t the first time it happened. Malcolm had seen and been through the situation before.

“Here bubba, let me help mama.” He said, taking Y/n in his arms and carried her bridal style to the bedroom. The dim light from lamp made her squint her eyes. Gently, Steve laid her down on the bed, tucking her under the covers, he placed a sweet kiss on her forehead.

“Go to sleep, I’ll be right here when you wake up.” He whispered and kissed her hair again.

He looked around and see Y/n’s pile of clothes on the floor that she changed from after coming home. He picked her work clothes along with her bra and panties and dump them in a laundry basket. Malcolm was right behind him, watching his dad cleaning up the toilet and picking up the used towel and throw it into the hamper. Steve left the bathroom light on and door slightly ajar, he turned off the night stand lamp, turning the room dark. The only light coming was from the bathroom.

“C'mon bubba, let’s fix you something to eat.” He carried Malcolm in his arms and came downstairs in the kitchen, setting him on the counter he asked him what did he want to eat. After a little debate, the father – son duo agreed on having some fruits and yogurt. They spent rest of the evening painting and colouring in hush voices. Malcolm told him that Y/n had had migraine before but he was unable to explain it that got Steve more worried. Dinner time rolled around real quick for Steve and Malcolm who were snuggled on the couch in the living room, watching Ms Rachel on YouTube.

By the time Wanda dropped by, Malcolm was tired and already sleepy. She brought Chinese takeout for Steve and Malcolm.

“Thanks for the dinner, Wanda. I really appreciate it.” Steve said taking a seat on the couch across from Wanda. Malcolm was in Wanda’s lap, quietly playing with the loose thread on her sweater.

“Oh, it’s no problem, Steve. How is she? Still sleeping?”

“Yup. She took the pain meds.” Steve fiddled with his fingers, unable to form a sentence. “Is – is it umm normal thing; I mean her migraine. She threw up couple a times, she’s in so much pain.”

“Yeah, whenever she gets this.. migraine, it’s always worse. It’s not a usual occurrence, something triggers it. I don’t know what does it this time. She seemed fine to me. But the only thing doctor had said is to sleep it off and rest.”

Steve nodded, “Did it happen in front of Mal too? I mean, he knows where her meds are.. I – I panicked when I came here.”

“Yes, she kinda explained him that if she gets it and there’s no one home, Mal knows what to do, and where to get her meds. Don’t worry Steve, She’ll be fine when she wakes up, a little drowsy but that’s the meds effect, once it flushes out of her system, She’ll be perfectly fine.”

“I can’t help but be worried. I’ve never seen her like this and its killing me. Mal's too small to – “ He didn’t finish, just sighed heavily and leaned against the back of the couch.

“I know what you mean, Steve. Its just – she wouldn’t want us to carry the weight of her worries, she’d internalise everything. I have to dig her sometimes, get to the root of her stress. She’s stubborn like that.”

“Yeah, I know. Same old Y/n" Steve smiled.

“So...”

“So?” Steve raised an eyebrow at her.

“I’m here, I mean if you...”

“I don’t want to be anywhere but here, Wanda. If you want to stay, you’re most welcome.”

“Oh okay. Guess, I can trust you with my sister and nephew.” Wanda teased.

Steve rolled his eyes and Wanda chuckled.

“I know you will take care of her and this little guy.” She slightly nudged Malcolm in the ribs who was soundly asleep.

“Ohhh...” she whispered looking down at Malcolm.

“Here let me take him to his bed.” Steve offered standing up.

“It’s okay, I’ll put him to bed and check up on Y/n.”

Steve nodded, “You sit and eat. It’s all cold now.” Wanda whispered while taking Malcolm upstairs to his room. Malcolm started stirring when she tuck him in, whimpering a little he opened his blue eyes.

“Where daddy?” he panicked.

“Mal, he is downstairs, eating dinner.” Wanda whispered rubbing his back gently.

“No, daddy. I want daddy. Pwease daddy.” His sleepy eyes were filled with tears.

“Sshh, let me...” Wanda took him in her arms again.

“Here, bubba. I’m right here. No need to cry buddy.” Steve must have heard his voice so he entered the room right when Wanda was about to take Malcolm back to him.

“See, Wan Wan is trying to help you go back to sleep.” Steve gently rocked him in his arms.

“Stay daddy.”

“Okay, I’m not going anywhere. You want  some chicken noodle soup? There’s some spaghetti as well.”

Malcolm nodded his head and they made their way back to kitchen. Wanda reheat the food in the microwave while Steve sat Malcolm down on the dining chair.

“Thank you Wanda.” Steve said with a genuine smile.

“No problem Steve.” She returned the smile. “I’m gonna get going. I’ll stop by in the morning. If you need anything just call or text... or whatever okay?”

“Sure. Thanks again.”

Once Wanda left, Steve finished the dinner, putting the plates in the dishwasher, he cleaned the kitchen while making small conversation with Malcolm who just had few bites of spaghetti. He took Malcolm to his room, both of them whispering and laughing and just being silly. He changed Malcolm into his night suit, brush his teeth and tucked him again in the bed. Two and a half story later, Malcolm finally fall asleep. Steve looked at his little bean lovingly, his heart melts and he placed a kiss on his nose. It was hard for him to decide who hold the more power over him – his little boy or his baby's mama. He would do everything in a heart beat for both of them. They were his purpose of living. His happiness. His all.

He got up after kissing on Malcolm’s forehead one more time and came to check up on Y/n. He sat down on the floor leaning against the bed. Y/n was still sound asleep, her left hand hanging from the edge of bed. Steve took her hand in his, kissing the back of it. She stirred a little, tightening her grip in Steve’s hand she folded their intertwined hand on her chest.

“Did Mal eat?” she asked in raspy, sleep laced voice. Her eyes were still closed.

“Yes. He has.” He whispered. He couldn’t comprehend the emotion he felt.

“Did you eat?”

“Yes. Go back to sleep, sweetheart.” He said trying to restrain his feelings. He just wanted to take her in his arms and ease away her pain and all the stress that’s causing her all the suffering.

Steve didn’t realise when he had fallen asleep in the same position, his mind was still foggy when he felt soft caressing brush in his hair and on forehead. It took him couple a moments to register the soft touch of Y/n’s finger tips on his skin, just like the old times. He opened his eyes to meet her sleepy gaze, didn’t know what time of night it was.

“C’mere.” Her voice sent tingles in his body.

“Yeah? You okay?” He got up in a speed.

“Come. Lie down here.” She moved and patted on the now empty space on the bed. “You’ll get a sore neck.”

Steve was dumbfounded, had no clue how to react. Every fibre in his body wanted to join her in bed, cuddle and go back to sleep but there was this hesitation in his mind. She wasn’t his anymore. His heart churned at the thought. He opened and closed his mouth unable to respond to her.

“Please Steve. It’s okay.” She felt his hesitance and without giving it much thought he moved underneath the covers. Y/n didn’t wait for him to settle, she wrapped her arms around his torso and snuggled into him. She was still under meds effect so it didn’t take more than few minutes for her to fall back to sleep, Steve smiled and closed his eyes, letting her soft breaths on his neck lulling him to sleep.

The next time he woke up when he felt something or someone poking in his ribs, like someone’s trying to shake him awake. He slightly opened his eyes, trying to adjust his vision and the reason behind this sudden intrude.

“Daddy?” Malcolm whispered near his ear. Steve immediately turned to look at him. He was big spooning Y/n, their legs tangled and Y/n’s head was on his arm, her back pressed against his chest.

“Daddy, I go pee.” Malcolm whispered again. Steve slowly moved away from Y/n trying his best not wake her up.

“C'mon bubba, let’s go to the bathroom.” Steve carried Malcolm to the bathroom and sat him on the toilet.

“Why you sweep with mama, why no me, daddy?” a small pout was formed on Malcolm’s face while he was still sitting on the toilet.

Steve turned around from wiping his freshly washed face on the towel and looked at his son bewildered, totally clueless of what to say.

“Umm... because mama asked me?” Steve shrugged earning a frown from his son.

“Why? Why no ask me? I mad.” He complained.

Steve chuckled, a little loudly much to Malcolm’s dismay, he folded his small arms on his chest.

“Okay, I’m sorry. When mama wakes up I ask her to let you sleep with her tonight.” Steve came to sit in front of him.

“C'mon bubba, let’s clean you up and make some breakfast.”

“I eat same wike you.”

Steve ruffled Malcolm’s hair and after changing him out of night suit, he brushed his teeth and washed his face. Both of them headed to the kitchen, Steve made scrambled eggs for both of them. He decided on keeping Malcolm home for the day. After breakfast, he gave Malcolm his paints and books to colour while he started working online. Y/n came downstairs a little late. She was better than yesterday but still tired and lethargic. Steve made her cereal and be his usual protective self. Wanda came by to check up on Y/n but she was fast asleep on the living room couch. She dropped off the lunch she made for them and left after a while. Y/n was in and out of sleep, only waking up for an hour or so and went back to sleep again. Malcolm had a less to no eventful day, he was bored but Steve got him busy, engaging him in conversation and making few promises to Malcolm that would probably land him in trouble once Y/n would be up and better. Their day was slow and dull, the only best thing was that Y/n was getting better as the medicine worn off.

~*~
"Where daddy?" Malcolm’s eyes were still closed and he was still in a sleep haze but first thing that came out of his mouth was asking about Steve. Y/n chuckled ruffling his hair one more time she opened the curtains and blinds of Malcolm’s room.

"Mal-pal wakey time." She started picking up the stuffed puppy from the floor that must have fallen down while Malcolm was asleep.

"Daddy? Need daddy." Little boy whined again.

"I'm right here, bubba. Wakey wakey." Steve came in and lightly tickled in Malcolm’s ribs and sleepy giggles filled the room. Y/n rolled her eyes while taking out Malcolm’s clothes from the closet.

"Wana go pee, daddy." Malcolm whined in between his laughter.

"Go ahead! You know the drill buddy." Y/n said.

"No, with daddy." Malcolm said clinging to Steve’s neck who was still sprawled on the bed. Y/n shook her head and Steve laughed taking the little boy in the bathroom.

Y/n's phone rang, Wanda was face timing her just to check in.

"G'morning!" Y/n smiled. She came down to the kitchen to fix coffee for her and Steve.

"Morning! How are you?" Wanda stuffed her mouth with a spoon full of cereal.

"As good as I can be." Y/n hummed.

"Back to mama duty yet?"

"Still on break. Malcolm wants Steve to do everything for him. He's making him brush his teeth right now. He won't let me do anything. I think Steve’s making him breakfast as well."

"Awww that's cute. Good for you, get plenty of rest, hit the salon and do your nails and stuff. Want me to book your appointment?" Wanda winked.

"No thank you! I'm good. Still got few things to work on before I come back to work."

"Ugh! Y/n, you're so boring. Steve’s got all your work done, don't worry about it."

"He's been loaded with work, Wan. I can't ask him for more. Besides, Mal's not letting him have at least a moment."

"And I'm loving every bit of it." Steve hollered from the stairs with Malcolm sitting on his shoulders making silly noises.

"Don't worry about the work stuff, I'll have it all covered. Just  relax and rest." He smiled at Y/n with pure adoration in his eyes.
"Hi Wanda!" He came around the corner of the kitchen island picking up his coffee mug.

"Hey Steve! Wassup!" Wanda smiled at the sight of Steve and Malcolm.

"Hi there cupcake."

"Hi Wan Wan! And mama just west and we'ax. 'Kay mama." He repeated Steve’s words and the three adults in the room burst into laughter including Malcolm who was now in his mama’s arms. Y/n kissed on his nose and then on cheeks and sat him on the kitchen island.

“Mal-pal, what do you wana have in breakfast?”

“Same as daddy. ‘wambled eggs.”

“Okay. Let me fix some for all of us then.” She chuckled taking out eggs, butter and milk from the refrigerator.

“Oh no, you’re not.” Steve snagged a bowl from the cabinet and all the ingredients as well. “You’re still off the duty, it includes this as well.” He pointed to the scattered items on counter. “Just sit and relax.”
Y/n narrowed her eyes on him that he efficiently ignored and started whipping the eggs in the bowl.
“Steve’s right, you know. Just enjoy doing nothing while you can.” Wanda chuckled looking at her sister’s annoyed face.
“You two are – ugghhh.” She huffed in annoyance over how Steve and Wanda was treating her delicately as if she was going to break or something.

They ate the breakfast mostly talking about Malcolm having fun at day care, kind of a heads up for the little boy who wasn’t ready to leave his parents. While Steve took Malcolm to drop him off at the centre, Y/n put the dishes in a dish washer and cleaned up the kitchen. Steve wasn’t going to let her do that but the glare she gave him, had him surrender rather quickly. When Steve came back home, Y/n was all showered and changed into comfy lounge pants and a hoodie. Her towel dried hair and clean, make up free face got Steve staring at her with his heart in his eyes. She smiled catching him staring at her, a deep blush formed on his cheeks and he turned to sit on the kitchen table resuming his office work and few online meetings that he had to attend. Y/n left to go to her room and when she came back, she had her iPad in her hand, few of Malcolm’s toys and what looked like a photo album. She got herself comfortable on the couch and looked towards Steve who was busy talking to one of their co-worker. He felt her gaze and looked over only to find her smiling at him. As soon as he ended the call she patted the spot next to her on the couch. Steve raised an eye brow at her mischievousness but still came to sit beside her leaving an appropriate gap between them.
“Here.” She handed him a memory book that said Malcolm’s first year. Steve looked at the book and then her, she gently nodded at him. Gulping hard, Steve opened the book, his heart beating fast and a storm of emotions swirled through him when he looked at the black and white image of a sonogram and at the bottom in Y/n’s hand  writing, three weeks was written.
“It’s him.” She pointed at the tiny peanut size spot on the image. “This was my first check-up after finding out about him. I was already three weeks along.” She smiled at him, he couldn’t return her smile.
There were all the sonograms pasted on the book, from a size of peanut to a squirrel and then a fetus, Y/n had a story to tell with every image. She made Steve laughed through his tears, letting him in on the journey she took alone.
“All the sweet things I’d had craved for, Mal loves them. I wonder still I’m not diabetic yet.” She chuckled. “You know, Alice used to make me brownies every other day, I’d finished ‘em and she’d make another batch. During my second trimester, I ate brownies like a mad person.” She sat with her legs folded, without noticing she covered the distance between them. She was now pressed into his side as she turned the page of the memory book.
There were pictures of new born Malcolm in Y/n’s arms taken at the hospital.
“I told you he was born a little preterm, right?” Steve nodded. “He decided to join us in the 36th week, Dad and Alice were on vacations...” She lightly chuckled, “... Wanda and I were home, I invited Buck to have dinner with us, Wanda had been crushing on him ever since...” She laughed, “... and just when everything was set on the table, my water broke. We rushed to the hospital, I started my contractions but it was really far apart so they sent us back home. And you know what, when we got back Bucky was still running late.”
“Typical Bucky.” Steve muttered rolling his eyes.
Y/n laughed, “Well, at least he made it just in time to take me to the hospital again. Because I couldn’t eat or rest, I was just so stressed, seven hours later we hit the hospital again and they finally took me in. I was only six centimetres dilated so we had to wait another few hours and contractions gotten worse.” Her brows were furrowed as she gently touched the picture of her and new born Malcolm.
“The pain was so much, I felt like my bones were crushing, but... you know what Steve, it was all worth it.” She smiled and looked at him. He had tears in his eyes, she gently took his hands in hers and squeezed. “Just when I was ready to deliver, doctors were there, everything was set, they could see his head but Malcolm decided to turn inside, changed his position, his head bumped into my pelvic bone and the cord was wrapped around his neck. He was getting concussion. Everything happened so fast after that, doctors made on the spot decision and cut me open. It was an emergency c-section...” Steve sighed heavily, closing his eyes. Tears slid on his cheeks and Y/n was quick to wipe them away. She gently turned his face towards her.
“Hey, it’s okay. It was all worth it. Steve, look at me.” And he did. He saw a beautiful smile on her face. “I missed you so so much I can’t even tell...”
“I’m sorry Y/n, I would spent every breathing moment apologising to you and still won’t make it up to you.”
“Shusshh!” She intertwined their fingers. “I’m telling you all of this not because I want you to feel bad or make you regret, but, because I want to let you in all the experiences that I’ve had without you. I want you to be a part of it. I don’t want you to live with the burden of guilt that you’ve been carrying, Steve.”
“Easier said than done, Y/n. You went through it alone, I wasn’t there when I should’ve been.” Steve gulped hard, his worry lines deepened.
“Forgive yourself Steve. Let the past not affect our present and future. Please Steve. Whatever happened four years ago, had already happened. It’s time to move on. I don’t want you to live like that.”
“Like what Y/n? I’m fine.”
“Bullshit!” She scoffed. “Why do you think I’m keeping this memory book for? Yes, I wanted to cease every moment of our little boy growing up. I wanted to capture all of it but deep down I was doing it for you, no matter how angry I was, I still wanted to share everything with you Steve, because you deserve it. You deserve to know about every single detail of our son's life. Please, you gotta leave the past in the past. Please don’t carry this weight anymore. Forgive yourself, Stevie. Please for me, for Mal.”
“Y/n, I can’t. I just can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Have you? Have you forgiven me? – “
“Yes.” She replied promptly.
“Before you say anything Steve, let me tell you that I was ready to forgive you even when I didn’t know about you and my sister. And I have still forgiven you because I know you, Steve, I know that you’d never do what you were made to think you did. You don’t remember anything from that night right?” He nodded. “Dad and I both think that you were drugged, we don’t have a proof but it could be a possibility. Now, why would I be mad at you for something you don’t have a control over and I told you this in New York, didn’t I?” He nodded again.
“I was angry because you didn’t come but you know what, I’m not... not anymore. You made a mistake, we all do. I wasn’t the only one hurting, you were hurting too and it took me long enough to realise that you don’t deserve to live with this guilt. You don’t deserve to be punished for the one mistake you ever made Stevie. I’m sorry I didn’t realise this sooner.” She cupped his face, wiping his tears with the pad of her thumb.
“let it go, Steve. Forgive yourself please. If you’ve ever loved me, you’d forgive yourself. Please.” She knew what she was asking him to do. That was the least she could do for him.
“I have always loved you Y/n and you know that.”
“Then what’s stopping you Steve. Let’s put everything behind us.”
“I can’t promise but I’ll try.” He gave her a tight smile. Covering the small distance between them she pressed her lips on to his. She didn’t move her lips, just pulled back enough to see his eyes widened. She chuckled lightly, leaning in to him again but just when she brushed her lips on his, he pulled back and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
“You have a boyfriend.” He whispered placing his forehead against hers.
“Oh! Yeah?! Yes.” She looked disappointed. “I’m sorry I made you uncomfortable.”
“It’s fine.”

They sat in uncomfortable silence, steadying their rapid heart beats. Steve focused his gaze on the book that was in his lap. With a small smile he was staring at the pictures.
She stared at him in wonder, unable to keep her thoughts straight. Everything about him was beautiful, everything about him was enticing and loving.
“Can we be friends?” She asked couple a minutes later. Steve tore his gaze from the pictures to see her looking at him expectantly. For a second he couldn’t comprehend her question, not believing his ears.
“It’s okay if you’re not – don’t...” She rambled seeing Steve struggling to say something.
“No! No its not what you think...” Steve cut her off almost immediately. “Honestly I wasn’t expecting you to ask me that. I- I mean I just couldn’t believe if I heard you correctly.” Steve said sheepishly.
“So?” Y/n chuckled.
“So, I say let’s be friends.” Steve said enthusiastically making Y/n laugh out loud. “I mean I’d be whatever you want me to be. Ya know if you’re – I mean...” Y/n put a finger on his lips shushing him.
She slid her arm in his arm, rested her head on his shoulder getting comfortable in his warmth. She dragged the book in the middle and sighed lazily.
“Let’s start with being friends.” She looked up to see him with widened eyes. “What? Friends do sit like this. Now just relax Steve.” She nudged him in the ribs lightly getting his attention back on the memory book. She started showing him all the baby pictures of Malcolm and all the stories along with it making him loosened up a bit. They watched the videos on her Ipad, Steve cried watching Malcolm took his first steps towards Y/n. The video was made in Bucky’s phone, Y/n was sitting on the floor when Malcolm stood up on his feet holding the coffee table and took a step forward without any support. He landed straight into Y/n's arms, cackling and laughing. All the adults in the background cheered on the little boy's first milestone.
There was another clip of fifteen months old Malcolm who had just started saying small words like no and yeah. Y/n made video of him sprawled on the bed playing with one of his toys babbling new words when he uttered Dada – his first clear words.
Steve gasped, emotions bubbling in his chest as he replayed the video letting his tears fall freely.
“Hey... it wasn’t suppose to make you cry.”
Steve shook his head, wiping his face with the back of his hand. He glanced at her with all the raw emotions flashed in his still red eyes.
“Why – Why’d you do that? Why’d you let him know me when I wasn’t there? I don’t deserve – “
“Would you stop with your bullshit, Steve?” She sat straight facing him, her knee touching his thigh.
“Every child deserves to know their parents, no matter how complicated the relationship is. Knowing you as his dad has been the best thing happened to him. In his eyes, you’re perfect Steve and I’d like to keep it that way... because you make him the happiest. You’re his favourite and that makes me envy you.” They both chuckled. “I know what’s going on in your head but, please, do not give in to those thoughts. You aren’t your thoughts, Steve. You’re the best father to Malcolm and both of you are lucky to have each other.” She smiled fondly at him.
“I promise I’ll try with everything in me to be the best version of myself - for Malcolm and for you, Y/n.”
Her heart did a somersault the way her name slips out of his lips. His deep soft voice sent tingles through her skin.
“I believe you.” She whispered softly. They indulge themselves to stare into each other’s eyes filled with pure love and longing. Just for a split second Steve’s gaze moved towards her lips, and it didn’t go unnoticed by her. She leaned forward again hoping that this time he might reciprocate her actions but to her disappointment, he pulled her in a hug. She sighed in his embrace wrapping her arms around him. Her palms pressed against his back gently moving up and down the length of it, made him bury his head into her neck holding onto her tightly. Their desire for each other was evident in their actions. None of them were ready to pull back. Steve knew if he’d let her kiss him, he wouldn’t be able to hold back, he’d dive headfirst in to his primal desire for her. He always knew that their love was soul – to – soul connection, it’s one of the raw, sensual connection where everything else was secondary.
Self control had always been difficult for him when it came to her, if he’d requite her kiss, it’d only make things more complicated especially when he knew she had avoided talking about her boyfriend, where the heck was he when his very new girlfriend was sick and in bed. Had they broken up already? Oh, the thought definitely made him happy but he knew better.
As much as he was elated to have her back in his arms, as friends. He was also confused of her sudden change in behaviour, but that was least of his concerns right now. The wishful part of his brain taking over the rational thoughts, he inhaled deep in her hair, the smell of her shampoo calming down his nerves as the only thought that was left was; they started out as friends many years ago, that changed and blossomed into an epic love – he was ready to take on that journey again.

"Why did you call my Dad Howdy?" Tony asked
(Y/n) and Ian, her infant son, had come to have lunch with her daughter, although it turned out she had left for lunch with Peter. So she was now sharing lunch with Tony instead and had to ensure he ate something today.
"My Biological father's name was Howard as well...He wasn't all that good at it being a dad. Howdy, though, Howdy was good to me. He didn't deserve to be lumped with Howard."
(Y/n) knew that Tony didn't have an ideal childhood from what little was shared, but she knew from how Tony still spoke and loved his parents even now that Howdy wasn't the worse father, definitely not on the level as (Y/n)'s own.
While (Y/n)'s father didn't outright beat her, he wasn't good to her either. Her father worked a lot, her mother took the bulk of raising he only came around to criticize her, she was not the son he wanted. When her mother died, she was still very young her father was quick to marry another woman to replace her mother. Although she did very little in the subject of raising (Y/n), she was just as bad as her father with the need for a son, so while she went to the church to pray for a son, (Y/n) was left on her own. Fortunately, Mrs. Rogers stepped up and filled the maternal role in her life, raising her and Steve to the best of her ability until she too met her untimely end.
(Y/n) had moved in with the Rogers when Sarah grew ill, Her father and his wife thought her kind for doing such they did not realize she would not return after the woman passed. Nor did they care.
"I didn't have a real father or any real blood family."
"So, my dad was your dad too?"
" Your father filled that role, not always as a father, but more as a big brother. The only person I can say had even the ounce of love for me like Howdy was Miss Sarah, Steve's mother. Bucky's family loves me but not like she did. She raised me."
Her memories were hazy, and the majority of her time in the war was blank, so she didn't remember her time with him, not all of it. But she can, she can still remember him, and she loved him.
"I don't know what he was like with you, Tony, and I'm sorry for whatever he did, but... he was good to me, and I don't want to forget that."
"I'm not asking you to that's not why I asked. I know the guy I know and the person you knew were two entirely different people." Tony sighed as he started picking at his sandwich. " The same person at two different points in his life with different people"
"Please eat," (Y/n) said, sliding a bowl of fruit towards him. " we don't have a talk about it"
"No, I want to know the man you knew"
"I can tell you the few things I remember or show you some- "
"No videos, no photos. I'm not going through that again."
"Fair." (Y/N) said as she fed Ian some fruit. " Want to know how we met?"
"It was a day or two after saving the 107th that I met your father and came barreling in on a jeep looking for Steve, found me instead."
-
(Y/n) was sitting up on her cot. Although still bruised, malnourished, and weak, she was doing alright, healing quite well. Physically she was going to make a good recovery. The only problem really was that she was bored sitting alone. Bucky had been checked out already and was giving a debrief of what happened to him and his squad, and Steve was off with Peggying doing whatever.
So here she sat alone, surrounded by the other wounded, in silence. Not fun.
(Y/n) heard the screeching of tires and shouted outside, followed by more shouts. Suddenly the flap of the tent was pulled back to reveal a man dressed in a suit and sunglasses. The man obviously didn't belong who wore dress shoes out here.
"Rogers? Captain Rogers?"
"He's not here," her voice cracked " he's not hurt"
The man did a double take at her sitting in the infirmary, taking off his sunglasses, he put them in his front pocket. "What's a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this?"
"Recovering from being a prisoner of War." That checked out she was covered in bruises and bandages and was very thin.
"Women aren't allowed on the front line. How did you become a prisoner?"
" I don't really follow the rules" The man let out a chuckle
"Howard Stark"
"(Y/n) (L/n)"
"Nice to meet you in person finally" he held his hand out for a shake but thought better of it as he saw her wrists wrapped. He knew who this woman was while he had never seen pictures of her, he had heard her name plenty from Steve. She didn't seem anything like he had imagined, but he chalked it up to the fact she was beaten up and in the infirmary and in the middle of a war. War changed people.
"The Captain spoke highly of you and your friendship"
-
"I don't remember what we talked about after that. I don't even remember if he talked to Steve that day." (Y/n) says with a concentrated look ignoring Ian eating her fruit (Baby tax).
"Once and only Did my father ever mention your name" Tony confessed " I was young, and we were visiting one of the older properties in the city, Brooklyn. It was dusty, old, and untouched. It seemed frozen in time"
-
"What are we doing here?" A Young Tony whispered to his mother she shushed him quickly as she watched her husband Climb the stairs to the brownstone house in Brooklyn. Tony watches as his father looks at the door for a moment before fishing out the keys and unlocking the door.
"Are we staying here?"
"No," his mother says and shushes him again. They wait a few seconds before slowly following him.
Tony held his mother's hand as they entered the home. It was old and dusty Tony couldn't help but sneeze he was met with another shush from his mother. There were pictures everywhere, walls and tables, all barely visible due to the dust that collected on the glass. There was one notable picture on the fireplace that lay on its face. Letting his mother's hand go, he goes over the fireplace. Stretching his arm, his fingers brush the frame.
"HEY" Tony jumps back as his father shouts, " Don't touch anything"
His mother quickly pulls him away and takes his hand back.
"What are we doing here?" He asked again but was ignored.
"Please, Don't touch anything," His mother says, squeezing his hand.
"Why are we here?"
" This place belongs to a friend of your father's," she whispers "A very special friend."
He could make his own assumes on what special meant, but by the dusty collection, it was clear that the friend was long gone. He decided he was gone to ask questions anymore. Her standing the situation a little more, his mother allowed him to let go of her hand, but he still stayed close.
They walked through the living room, kitchen, and dining room everything was literally in place as if frozen in time. There was even a newspaper on the table with the date May 8th, 1946.
While his mother continues to move through the living room, looking at barely visible pictures, he sneaks up the stairs. Looking through the railing, he sees his father standing in front of a closed door, and it didn't look like he was going to open it. Tony was going to leave it at that, but then he noticed how his father's shoulder shook as he hunched forward, and then he noticed the floor in front of him, far more noticeable due to the dusty, small wet spots on the floor.
He quickly left, rushing out the door. He never spoke of what he saw or that house again.
-
"I forgot about that memory until recently. More like forced myself to forget."
(Y/n) always wondered what happened after she 'died' but tried to move on from her past, not to dwell on it as her therapist recommended. It was far to look back when you could even remember most of the stuff behind you. Steve filled in the blanks when she and Bucky asked but still.
"What happened to it, the house?" Ian must have felt mommy's sad and decided to give her open mouth kisses on her chin to make her feel better. It worked.
"Sorry, um... Jarvis had it packed up. I sold it a few years after he died. I saw no use for it. Sorry"
"It's fine. No need to apologize"
"I can find out where he stores your stuff"
"That would be nice, thank you," (Y/n) sighed " This is getting quite depressing. Jarvis took care of you in your childhood, right? Tell me about that"
And he did. The rest of the lunch was spent with them playing with Ian and exchanging stories about Jarvis (Although Tony had many more than she did).
