Big deep sea serpent who drowns sinners in the sea of jealousy and feasts on their negativities, transforming them into demons of the ring of Envy (i think).

Confessing to Envy about feeling envy

“You’re naive if you think he likes you. You are just his worker and wants to control your work, there is nothing interesting or special about you.”

The conversation with your friend repeated itself over and over in your head. You can’t belief how stupid you were, to think Envy actually wanted to spend his time with you. He can do so much better and the little chats you had while tending to his trophies didn’t mean a thing.

You were currently standing in front of a statue and noting the significant data for the archive, which took much longer than usual, because you couldn’t hold your raging emotions at bay.

“What got you radiating so much envy? That’s usually my job.” Shock rocked trough your body and you quickly turned to look too Envy.

“It’s nothing serious”, trying to gather your emotions and deflecting the intensity of them. “It’s slowing your work down, which is slowing me down. Unacceptable.” Just as you were trying to apologize and make up an excuse, Envy turned smug. “Oh, my little pet, the lies your making up won’t help your case. I expect nothing but excellence of you. Tell the Truth or feel the consequences”. To mark his point further, he steps closer to you, invading your privacy. Stuttering you answered “My highness, I had a conversation with a friend and they opened my eyes to my own stupidity. Now I’m envying my former perspective” Not wanting to look at Envy and embarrass you further, you tried stepping back to the statue. But Envy grabs your face and forced you to look at him. He holds you close and rises his eyebrow, signaling that the answer you gave him wasn’t enough. You knew him well enough to know that his short fuse was going to stop soon and you didn’t want to lose your job. Embarrassment haunts the next words coming out of your mouth. “I thought you liked our interactions during my work for you, like I do. But you must only want to keep an eye on your priced possessions.” His unnatural green eyes fixated you more, than you believed to be possible.

“My little pet, don’t trouble yourself with my intentions” His dimple on his right cheek appeared as he continued “Start bathing in other people’s envy like you deserve” He loosened his hold on your face and stroked gently over your cheek. After this soft action, he turned around and left you standing speechless. Just as he is leaving the trophy room, he said “Go back to your work and take care of my trophies”

With Envy making brief appearances throughout Maniscalco’s Kingdom of the Wicked series, it was well worth the wait to be able to read from his perspective and in a regency fantasy setting no less!

“Throne of the Fallen” follows the Prince of Envy and Miss Camilla Antonius as they compete together in a deadly game to win back what they hold most dear. Nothing will stand in their way, though none of their best laid plans prepare them for the most dangerous trap of all: falling in love.

Maniscalco perfectly characterizes Envy in accordance with the sin he embodies. He is cunning, selfish, territorial, cruel, and loves nothing more than to inspire jealousy in others. He is a walking red flag, a far cry from Prince Charming and that somehow made me love him even more!

He meets his match in Camilla, who does not run at the sight of a Prince of Hell, and their chemistry is off the charts! She sees him for who he is (a ruthless lover) and embraces him completely, tearing down the walls around his heart brick by brick. Envy sets Camilla free as well by encouraging her to indulge her passions and shed her civility after living a life bound by society’s rules. They ignite passion in each other and their battle of wills creates a fun dynamic between them. I found great pleasure in watching them try to resist each other and fail miserably.

As much as I didn’t want to, I began to lose interest near the halfway point. The explicit scenes were a bit too numerous for me personally and some of the plot twists were easy to pick up on, causing the book to drag. Despite these setbacks, I was satisfied with the ending and am interested enough to see what direction the next book takes!

LEVIATHAN

Leviathan Invidia

The Prince of Envy, if any other has something more or better than Leviathan, he will not stop until he comes out on top. It was his envy of the Divine’s creation that caused him to band with Lucifer during The Fall. A powerful warrior in his own right, he cannot accept that there is any better. He has driven his minions to destruction to try and prove that there is no better than he or with a more powerful army. He must have all the accolades and victories. Over the eons, this has caused him great downfall, but he would never admit to such. For to admit that he was less than another would be too big of a sacrifice for him. Over the eons, Leviathan had become envious of Lucifer. Fearing that the Prince would revolt against him, Lucifer offered Brie’s soul to him in a bargain that would buy Leviathan’s loyalty for eternity. There was no way that Leviathan could turn down such an offer. To have the soul of the Horseman of Death, a female Nephilim, and Lucifer’s own granddaughter…that was a prize that none other could ever hope to compete with. It would assure him the loyalty of his demonic minions and place him high above all the other Princes. While he did not share the thought with Lucifer, for fear he would renege on the deal, Leviathan also considered that his union with Brie could elevate him to such a position as to overthrow Lucifer as the King of Hell. He could have it ALL!

He had watched her after getting the deed to her soul, learning about the female that would one day be his. He studied the mistakes those who tried to seduce her before made and vowed not to repeat them. He used all kinds of magics from different pantheons to be able to cloak his powers from her, changing his appearance to be able to get near to her and learn more about her. Soon, not only did he crave the power she possessed, but also the woman herself. She was a fierce warrior, and one of the most beautiful women he’d ever encountered. Her power, her lineage, her beauty, and the feisty spirit she possessed drew him to her like none other he’d ever known. He had to have her in all ways, she had to be his.

Then Lucifer screwed it all up. He had to bring his whore to the ball and piss off Brie’s brother. Now the whore was dead and something had happened between Brie and Abbadon. Still Leviathan has the deed to her soul, and he will find a way to use that to his advantage. There is no way he’ll allow Abbadon to keep Brie, not now that he’d been so close to her.

Leviathan plotted, planned, kidnapped, used subterfuge, and then employed Talia to try to get what he wanted. It all failed, which only enraged The Fallen more. He is not done trying to figure out how to get Brie, nor will he. For now he had Talia enraptured and believing his lies. There is nothing he won’t do and no one he will not manipulate to get what he wants. He just has to figure out what to do with the other Horsemen, Abbadon, the Angels, and that asshole who had come back from the dead.

Touga and Kozue have maybe the most amicable relationship of any two characters with Parallels(TM) in Utena, and the entire cast (particularly Miki) is incredibly lucky that they only acted as partners in crime once.
