Wanda’s magic takes her to America Chavez after the events of MoM, who decides she wants to give Wanda a chance and takes her to another universe for a fresh start. However, America is sent back to fetch her once the Sorcerer Supreme finds out since letting her remain in the wrong universe risks an incursion. Upon returning to MCU 616, Wanda slowly tries to pick up the pieces from the mess her corrupted self made previously, reunites with a few old friends and is eventually able to make some new ones. Thoroughly a fix-it fic!

(This will be an EXTREMELY minor crossover in the end. Figured I would mention this so no one is disappointed/annoyed! Wanda does not stay outside of her universe for very long. She returns to 616 in ch5.)

Been following this fic for most of the past few months. It’s a pretty good story in regards to providing Wanda a redemption story following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Welcome to the Problematic MCU Ship Tournament!

This blog will pit 64 different pairings against one another. All of them are in some way “problematic”- some feature a minor and an adult, others feature incestuous pairings, others still simply have questionable or potentially abusive dynamics. Many ships combine elements of more than one.

Each day, 4 polls will be posted pitting two different ships together (for a total of 8 ships per day). You are free to vote in as many or as few of these polls as you’d like.

This blog is explicitly pro-ship and anti-censorship, and obviously features dark themes. If this is a point of discomfort for you, you are free to block this blog, I don’t bite. Hate towards anyone (and anything unreasonably rude about ships or characters) will not be published and users that send it will be blocked. Nothing explicit will be posted to this blog, regardless of the ship, so minors are free to interact if they so wish.

The bracket below shows all the ships that will be posted, as well as their first opponent. After the first round has been completed, the diagram will be updated and all of the winning ships will be pitted against one another. Characters in this AU

Y/N Y/L/N: A childhood friend of Natasha Romanoff. Recruited by Carol Danvers for NXT and moved up to the main roster after being drafted to the red brand RAW. Goes by the stage name " The Enchantor". Part of a tag team Duo with her best friend Kate Bishop. Is one of the big faces in the show, having an ongoing feud with one of the big heels in the WWE universe, Natasha Romanoff.

Natasha Romanoff: The Childhood friend of Y/N. Recruited right away to the Red brand by Danvers right as she graduated from college. Goes by the stage name of " Black Widow" and formed a faction with two other wrestlers called " Shield". Romanoff is one of the big heels in the show, having an ongoing feud with one of the big Babyfaces in the WWE universe.

Wanda Maximoff: One of the three members of the Wwe faction " Shield". The rookie of the group and good friends with Kate Bishop and Maria Hill. Is known in the WWE universe as the " Scarlet Witch" or sometimes " Harbinger of Chaos " due to the number of times she's appeared out of nowhere to ruin anyone who challenges the shield.is a heel character.

Maria Hill: One of the three members of Shield. Been in Raw 2 years before Natasha was recruited but became good friends the moment that they meet. Is known in the WWE universe as " Commander Hill" for her ability to command fear in anyone who she goes against in a match and has one some major matches in her career. Sort of the "right-hand woman" to Natasha. Is a heel character

Kate Bishop: The best friend and Tag team partner of Y/N. Came to Raw at the same time that y/n and slowly become the best of friends throughout the years. Known as the Hawkette in the WWE Universe and a babyface as Danvers believes that nobody would think her " innocent face" can be a heel so they booked her as a babyface.

Carol Danvers: The General manager of Raw after Triple H retired and took on the role. known to be one of the best bookers in the pro wrestling world.

Heel : A "bad" guy or the antagonist in a story

Babyface: A " good" guy or protagonist in a story

pop: Crowd's reaction to a wrestler which happens for someone who's a babyface.

heat: the crowd's reactions to someone who's a heel

Booker: someone who set's up matches for each show depending on storylines at the moment.

Faction: Group of three or more people who have high aspirations for championship gold.

Promo: Promotional interview

Fued: a battle between two or more wrestlers/factions

Notes: I haven’t written much lately but had more inspiration recently. Thank you to @widowsistersandfriends for this great idea that happens to go so well with Speak Now TV coming out! 💜💜 Hope you guys like it!

Word Count: 2,037

Summary: Natasha, Yelena, Kate, and Clint crash a wedding.

“I’m boreddddd.”

“We’re literally hanging off the side of a building, Yelena.”

“Exactly. Boring. Amateur hour.”

Kate huffs at her blonde counterpart as she struggles with the cable suspending her 30 feet in the air. “Well, this is exciting for me.”

“Proving my point about amateur hour, Kate Bishop.”

“Yelena.” Natasha chides her sister over their shared coms, though to be fair, she’s feeling rather bored herself as she resists the urge to fiddle with the hem of the elegant purple dress she wore.

Clint is being less discrete in his discomfort next to her, openly complaining about the itchiness of his suit. “Why did we take this job again?”

“Because it was Kate’s turn to pick the mission.” Yelena mumbles, chewing on a snickers bar loudly in their ears.

“What? I’ve always wanted to crash a wedding!”

“Because that’s the only way you’d ever get to one.” Yelena smirks over at the younger archer from her place on the side of the building.

Kate pouts at that. “I’ll have you know I had many suitors!”

Yelena laughs, “Ha! They probably just wanted to pet Lucky and you thought they were interested.”

“You must know from your experience with Fanny.” Kate shoots back quickly.

“Please, I could get a date faster than you could sneeze, Kate Bishop.”

“Then why don’t you huh?”

The blonde shrugs, stuffing the candy bar wrapper in her pocket. “Not interested.”

Clint chimes in over the coms, “Kate if you want advice on getting a date ask Nat. She’s the pro.”

“You’re the one that’s married Barton.” They can all practically hear the eye roll in the redhead’s voice.

“You always say you have no idea how I won Laura over.”

“And I stand by that statement.”

“Which makes you the dating expert, not me.”

“Ha, not even.” Natasha scoffs, resisting the urge to shove her friend across the table.

“I’ve seen you turn down a total of 5 marriage proposals.”

“FIVE??” Kate exclaims.

“Five more than you’ll ever get Kate Bishop.” Yelena smirks, though internally she’s surprised by this news too. She knew many were interested in her sister, but marriage proposals were a bit too bold for her liking. No one deserved Natasha in her opinion.

“Not five.” Natasha shoots back, quickly lowering her voice. Clint raises an eyebrow and the redhead huffs.

“…Seven.” (Maybe more to be honest, but Natasha wasn’t about to say that). “Besides, you’ve had your share of fangirls too, Barton.”

“You mean Kate.” Yelena chimes in.

“Hey!” Kate exclaims, turning bright red and flopping back against the building in a huff.

The blonde shrugs with a grin, “What, just stating facts.”

“I’m not…” Kate sputters, looking for some defense.

Natasha laughs, “Don’t let her rile you up Kate.”

Clint chuckles in the background, “Don’t worry Kate. I don’t have fangirls anyway.”

“Paris.” Natasha states quickly.

“….Fine. I had one fan girl. One. But I haven’t turned down seven proposals like you!”

Natasha rolls her eyes, “I had literally just met them!”

Clint shrugs, “A few of them had promise.”

“They did not.” Natasha is surprised to hear Yelena saying the same words as her at the same time. She smiles internally at the protectiveness she hears in the blonde’s voice.

“What about that girl in Moscow?” Clint grins evilly.

Natasha bites back a blush. “She didn’t propose.”

“Right. You were the one that wanted to.”

“Can we focus on the mission?”

“Wait, what girl?” Yelena asks suspiciously.

“No one.” Natasha snaps. She can tell her sister wants to press more, but at that instant loud music starts to play. The black widow has never been happier for a wedding to start in her life.

Clint and Natasha stand and make their way to their seats in the well-decorated function hall. “I don’t see any suspects. What do you guys see up there?”

“All normal.” Natasha can hear the slight suspicion in her sister’s voice and huffs, knowing they were going to have a conversation later about that girl in Moscow.

“Wait.”

Both Natasha and Clint tense at that, reaching slowly to their concealed weapons.

“…Is that an ice cream truck?”

Natasha sighs, “Really Yelena.”

“Oh yeah it is! We should get some after!” Kate exclaims excitedly.

Clint huffs, “You guys do know you’re supposed to be conducting surveillance.”

“Right. Sorry.” Kate quickly snaps back to attention, eager to please her teammates.

Yelena rolls her eyes at the young archer’s eagerness. “Relax Barton. There’s nothing.”

“So you say.”

But the wedding ceremony continues to progress without signs of incident. The wedding party proceeds to the front and the bride and groom begin to exchange vows as Clint and Natasha take their seats.

“Wait.” This time everyone knows Yelena is serious. “The suspect is here. Back right exit door. About 10 thugs with him it looks like. This wedding is about to get messy.”

“Stay there! We need a distraction first.” Clint gives Natasha a look.

“Oh hell no.” Natasha resists, realizing what Clint was implying.

“I can’t do it, I’m married!”

“Like that’s stopped you from responding to fangirl mail!”

“That’s completely different! Besides I just say thanks for writing.”

“This doesn’t even mean anything! It’s an act!”

“So why can’t you do it?”

“What are they arguing about?” Kate asks Yelena in confusion in the background. The blonde just huffs, having some idea about what was going on but not being too happy about it.

“Fine!” Natasha gives Clint a glare before turning back to the stage. Clint gives an innocent smile and slips away to his position.

They wait a few more minutes until the officiator finally says the words “If anyone objects to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace.”

Natasha grits her teeth but stands up confidently, raising her hand. “I object!”

All eyes turn to her, and she can see the headlines already. Black Widow crashes a wedding in New York. Does she have a secret lover? Black Widow: The Homewrecker.

She was gonna kill Clint.

She honestly hated when everyone watched her. It went against her very nature as a spy. But no one would ever be able to tell that from looking at her as she stood cool and calm, facing the shocked couple on stage.

The only person that would notice her discomfort now was currently smashing through a window on the floor below, dragging Kate in behind to ambush the thugs before they made it to the floor of the wedding. Natasha didn’t see Clint anywhere but heard sounds of the fight in her ear. She was annoyed at being left out of the action and dealing with this scrutiny, but she supposes she’s been here before. If she could stare down nation leaders, she could handle crashing a wedding.

She steps out into the aisle, already hearing the whispers. “That’s the Black Widow!”

The officiator looks at her in surprise, “Um, yes? Miss..Romanoff? What would you like to say?”

The Black Widow walks up confidently, Natasha having fully assumed her alter ego at this point. “Well, I’d like to say that I object to the wedding here between Matthew and Morgan.”

The bride’s eyes widen even further, “What is this, Matthew??”

The groom shakes his head rapidly, “I swear I’ve never seen her before! At least…not in person!”

“I’m not here to break up your wedding,” Natasha states loudly enough for everyone to hear. Then she lowers her voice and steps closer to the couple so only they could hear. “I’m here because your brother, Matthew, has been selling stolen Stark tech to pay off a deep debt that he owes.” She turns to the bride, “To a man that happens to be your estranged father. He’s here with his thugs to collect that debt.” She nods at the brother who is standing in the best man position, looking nervous and guilty.

“What?” Both the bride and groom exclaim. Matthew turns and pulls his brother to the side for some harsh words.

“My father is here?” Morgan asks with wide eyes.

Natasha softens a bit. She feels bad for how this couple’s special day is going. “I’m sorry, we’re taking out his men as we speak. We didn’t mean to cause so much disruption, but it couldn’t be helped. They were going to barge in and go right for your soon to be brother-in-law. They knew he’d be here.”

“Our families grew up together. He was always my least favorite.” Morgan mumbles. “What will become of my father? Should I talk to him?”

Natasha gives the woman a sympathetic look. “He’ll be in custody, but we know the background of this feud. It seems to be internal with your families, hopefully that will allow it to be resolved faster. There’s nothing you can do at the moment.”

The bride nods, “Should…the wedding continue?” She looks around at her bewildered guests.

Natasha smiles and looks over to the other room where the groom and his brother are arguing. “Yes, have your day. Just a minute.”

She reaches the men just in time for her to catch a brother’s punch at the groom. “HEY!” She spins him around and jams his shoulder into the wall. “You got yourself into this mess! Don’t take it out on him!” The man can only whimper under the painful hold the widow has him in. Natasha leans closer to him in anger. “You listen very clearly. You’re going to go back out there and stand and support your brother on the happiest day of his life. Then you’re going to go outside and get in the police car waiting for you. If you take any diversions from those steps, you’ll be greeted by my teammates who I assure you will be less nice than the police.”

“Please let us greet him. I’m boredddd.” Yelena yawns, sitting on the legs of a tied-up thug who tried to roll around in his bonds.

The redhead doesn’t answer her sister but gives the brother a hard glare. The man gulps and nods rapidly. She then goes to the groom and straightens out his bowtie. “Sorry to ruin your day. Go out there and marry your girl.”

Matthew shakes his head, feeling bewildered by everything that had just happened. But he climbs back onto the stage and grabs the bride’s hands, motioning for the officiator to continue.

As the bride and groom kiss and are announced as a couple, the two archers and the blonde come up next to Natasha at the back of the venue. All perpetrators apprehended.

“Makes me remember my wedding.” Clint smiles fondly.

Natasha quirks an eyebrow, “Your wedding was in the middle of a firefight in Moscow with Fury yelling the officiating from his tank.”

“Don’t be jealous Nat.”

The redhead rolls her eyes but smiles fondly at the memory as well. She had been so new to SHIELD then, but seeing Laura and Clint together made her believe in something for the first time in years.

“So…can we get ice cream now?”

“Wow Yelena, so romantic.” Kate teases, but secretly was thinking the same thing.

“What? I’m hungry. I ran out of candy bars. Besides, I’m not old and gross like these two. Appreciating weddings. Bah. Have you ever seen a Heckler and Koch Grenade Launcher? Now that’s real beauty.”

Clint rolls his eyes but heads off toward the ice cream truck, beckoning Kate to follow. Yelena turns back to her sister who is still watching the newlyweds exit the venue.

“You wanted to get married didn’t you.”

Natasha tilts her head at her sister. “I’ve wanted a lot of things, but that was never one of them.”

“You don’t want the house renovator husband I gave you?”

Natasha snorts. “Absolutely not.”

“What about that Moscow girl?”

The black widow stops and eyes her sister seriously. “She wasn’t anything.”

“Uh huh.” Yelena says disbelievingly, but she can tell her sister wouldn’t be talking about it further so doesn’t press.

“Besides,” Natasha walks up to the ice cream cart and grabs something for Yelena, booping a bit of ice cream on the girl’s nose before handing her the cone, causing the blonde to huff. “I wouldn’t want to get boreddd.”

It had been 4 days, 6 hours and 23 minutes. No. 24 minutes. Kate was not exactly watching the white digitized numbers of time keeping at the bottom corner of her laptop screen. She just happened to glance at it every so often when the action slowed on the show she was watching.

4 days max. Leaving tonight, two full days of surveillance, if we even need that much, then back here right after. Easy peasy.

Yelena’s assurances felt flimsy at the time and now they were crumbling along with Kate’s hope that nothing bad had happened. It was just surveillance? What could go wrong? It was a stupid question. Anything could and probably would go wrong. She told herself to wait a full extra 24 hours before starting to truly worry. But all of the targets she’s been using for practice were starting to crumble, every spec of dust had been swept from the house, the windows had been washed until they started squeaking, the freezer was stuffed with pizza and vodka, and the balloons taped to the wall next to a homemade “Welcome Home, Yelena!” sign were crinkling and slowly deflating. All she could do is not watch the clock while frowning at her saggy balloons and worrying that Yelena wouldn’t come back.

Kate wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do if that was the case. The only instruction the blonde had given before departing was, “Stay until you’re bored, I guess? I don’t know, Kate Bishop. If I don’t come back it’s probably because I’m dead or captured. But that’s not going to happen because I am the best, so stop worrying.”

She was equally unsure what to do if the haughty assassin did actually return. What was she even doing here in the first place? Her life as a vigilante had started almost accidentally and this was no different, some random hot assassin literally descended upon her life and she could have… should have just let her go on her way after the truce was struck.

But noooo Clint had to invite both of them to Christmas a year after their altercation and then Yelena actually said yes when she jokingly asked for some Widow training. It was a bad idea from start to finish. And the incident in the shower only seemed to make things more confusing. She had replayed those events over in her mind way too many times in the last 4 days, 6 hours and … 26 minutes, trying to figure out if she really meant what she said and if there was even a chance that Yelena would or could want her in the same way. But, despite the circular thoughts, pros and cons lists, and several instances of masturbating about it, clarity would not come to her beyond the affirmation that she was being way too bold and so, so stupid.

I should just leave.

The white digital numbers of the clock on her laptop shifted a single end digit higher. Ok. That’s it. I’m leaving.

As much as you hate it, this is part of your job. Fancy galas mean donors and donors mean more money going towards the university. This is the nature of the beast known as academia and sadly you were sucked up in it. Of course, you love your job and the research that comes with it, but this is definitely not at the top of your list of favorite responsibilities.

One thing that makes these dull events more bearable is the presence of your girlfriend, who happens to always look dashing in the suits she wears to these events. Kate Bishop and her golden retriever ways can always put a smile on your face, even when the room is filled with some of the most boring people in the world, not to mention the sleazy trust fund babies who think they can get their way with anything.

Most of the night, so far, has been filled with you talking about your recent studies with various university donors and Kate standing by your side with her hand on your back or pinky intertwined with yours.

At the beginning of your career at the university, the first time you were invited to, or more likely required to attend, a fundraising gala, you brought Kate as your plus one. You didn't think anything of it, but come Monday you were summoned to the chair's office. The meeting consisted of him telling you that you should consider not bringing a woman to another university event. You responded by saying you would be more than willing to find a place at another more accepting institution to conduct your research.

Stunned, he stares at you, jaw slightly agape.

"Is this conversation over?" you ask bluntly.

You knew he wouldn't fire you. If he could, he most likely would, but the university needed you since your research was pretty groundbreaking. The university needed you to appeal to more donors and they knew every other university in the region or even the U.S. would jump at the opportunity to recruit you.

So, the man nodded and you walked and now, a few months later, here you and Kate are at another fundraising gala.

"Oh, hello! Sorry, I don't think we've officially met," Kate says, shaking the man's hand in an almost bone-shattering grip, causing him to wince, "I'm Kate Bishop, Avenger, pro-archer, and most importantly," she places her arm around your waist before adding, "Dr. (Y/L/N)'s girlfriend."

As you observe the interaction between the two, you do your best to hold back a smirk while Kate on the other hand is doing anything but hiding hers.

"Ah, Ms. Bishop, what a pleasure to have you here this evening," the man says grimacing.

Kate lets go of the man's hand and put her arm around your waist, "I'm so happy to hear that considering how you felt about my attendance at the last gala."

Her bluntness catches him off guard.

"Ms. Bishop, I-I have no idea what you are referring to!"

"Oh?" she says raising an eyebrow.

You bite your lower lip at the sight. Cocky Kate Bishop sure does things to a person.

Kate's phone buzzing cuts the man off from responding. She retrieves it from her pocket to see a call from Clint.

"Darn, I hate to cut this short, but duty calls. It was lovely meeting you, sir," Kate says before whisking you off and out of the event.

Once the two of you are on the sidewalk, you pull her by her jacket towards you and kiss her, catching her a bit off guard at this sudden wave of passion, but she was definitely not complaining as she melts into your touch.

You break away from the kiss, "After you help Clint, meet me at my place," you peck her lips one more time before adding, "in this handsome suit."

Heat rises to Kate's cheeks, "Yes, ma'am!"

And with that, your archer was off to save the day.

Cat had the irking suspicion that Clint's idea was not far from the truth, perhaps she needed to make up her mind for once and stay, without no one telling her what to do. She'd been a good hero once, she could be it again.

"Do you think that the tracksuits were after anything else at that auction?"

"I don't know, I was pretty focused on Jack and Armand..."

"It's pretty upsetting to think there might be stuff from the Avengers Compound floating around out there, don't ya think, Cat?"

She looked at him with surprise. "I don't know, there was a lot of Stark tech and suits... but uh... Most of the stuff was Steve's and mine. Everyone else lived out of the compound, remember?"

"I lived there for a while, and so did Lang."

"Oh yeah, Lang and his super ultra-secret weapons we never knew about," Cat scoffed. "I was on a mission last year, the only mission I had as an agent if we don't count Spider-man's fiasco in London, and I don't count that, obviously—"

"You went on a mission with Spider-man?" Kate asked. "That's awesome!"

"That's not the point," Cat brushed it aside. "We recovered most of the stuff, so maybe the Ronin suit was the remnant. If anything, it's been years, we can't do much."

"Maybe we can," Clint nudged Kate's shoulder. "You still think Jack is involved somehow?"

"Yes, there's too many coincidences! He was at the auction that night, and yesterday he offered me a butterscotch!"

Clint glanced at Cat with confusion. "Not exactly a crime..."

"When I tried to stab his face to prove he was lying, he parried like a pro."

"You tried to stab your mom's fiance?"

"It sounds like you're the murderer here," Cat said.

"No no, he has everything to gain from Armand's death," Kate insisted.

"The Jack thing is weird. I get it. But it's not exactly airtight."

"Right! Which is why we need more evidence!" Kate agreed. "And why we're gonna sneak into my mom's penthouse!"

"What?"

"We can get into her company's files, Bishop Security has a huge criminal database! There's gotta be info on the tracksuits and Jack in there!"

Clint could only stare at her, but it was harder to render Cat speechless. "If I were the director of a company specializing in security, the first thing I'd do after meeting a guy would be to check his criminal records."

"You read my mind," Clint agreed.

"Jack... What's his full name?"

"Jack Duquesne."

Cat laughed. "I know that guy! He's a puppy, Kate, you must be confused—"

"Don't be condescending, okay? I know what I'm talking about," the girl pouted. "Let's just try it my way once, and if it turns out you're right I promise I'll leave him alone. Happy?"

"Oh no, but I am amused," Cat winked at her.

Kate looked away, as upset as she was flustered.

"Holy shit! If your family turns out to be innocent, I know which Christmas party I'll be crashing!"

"Jeez, this is a home?" Clint stepped out of the elevator and looked around the Bishop's place.

"Yeah, uh, my great-great-great-great grandfather built the building," Kate pointed at the ceiling. "I tried to swing from that very chandelier and broke my arm. So uh, yeah, pretty impressive family, all the way around."

"My great-great-great-great grandfather could kick your great-great-whatever's ass," Cat joked. "He was a Skrull so perhaps your old man would've died of shock had he met him."

Clint looked at her. "That is exactly what we mean by unprompted batshit stuff."

Cat followed Kate to the living room, or at least what she guessed was a sitting area, whatever it was, big and fancy. She'd never liked those kinds of places, she could do the Avengers compound only cause it wasn't designed to be luxurious and elegant. It was huge, yes, but mostly practical and simplistic.

She had this clear memory of the movie nights with Rocket and Pietro, and the one time she'd shared beers with Nat and Steve— the training sessions with Harley, and the history classes with Kurt...

Something moved, but not in the room they were in.

"Someone's here."

Clint left the room at her warning, Cat followed him out. The man was about to enter a new room when a sword stopped him from stepping forward, Cat yanked him back and was about to grab her taser spear when Kate pushed both of them behind her.

"Jack, no!"

"What the hell is going on?" Kate's mother showed up. "And why is there an Avenger in my dining room?"

"Hi," Clint smiled, Cat waved trying to look innocent.

"Oh, my God!" Jack exclaimed. "You're... you're archer!"

"Hawkeye," Kate corrected.

"Clint," the man clarified.

"It's the branding issue, I'm telling you."

"Not the time..." Cat muttered.

"And who are you?" Kate's mother asked her.

Kate looked between them with a startled expression. "Right. Well, she's—"

"Kate's girlfriend," Cat said.

The archer turned to look at her with wide eyes, and mouthed "WHAT?", Cat approached shyly.

"We... we've been together for a while and she said I could come... I hope it's okay?"

The woman was so surprised she forgot about Clint for a moment. "I... Hi! What's your name?"

"Cat Maxwell," she pushed her sunglasses up revealing a sweet pair of brown eyes. "Nice to meet you!"

"Sorry I didn't tell you about this, mom," Kate glanced at Cat. "With everything that's happened since I got here I just..."

"It's okay," the woman brushed it aside. "Of course you can stay, we're happy to have you. I'm Eleanor, this is Jack."

"Hi," Cat smiled.

"So," Eleanor looked back at Kate. "That explains her, but why is Hawkeye here?"

Kate looked over her shoulder at Cat, but she just smiled in return.

"Why don't we take a seat?"

"Someone used my laptop to sign onto my work account ten minutes ago. Any thoughts, Kate?" The woman looked at them. "Hawkeye? Cat?"

"You'll never get anything outta them. See, CB-One has trouble opening up—"

"Nobody calls me CB-One," Clint retorted.

"Just trying something new there for a second," she faced her mom, "probably some early childhood thing. He thinks he doesn't tell me much but he ends up telling me all of it."

"I tell her nothing."

"Yeah, I think it's cause I'm generally pretty chill, you know? I'm not like, 'Oh my God! Hawkeye!"

"Definitely not chill."

"C'mon, Mr. Barton," Cat intervened. "Kate is put together, she'd be about to die and still sit there talking about bows," Kate glared at her. "You just give off that vibe, honey."

Cat got out of the awkward family reunion by telling them she'd promised to visit a friend in town. Kate offered to walk her out and while they were waiting for the elevator she got closer.

"What was that?"

"The thing where I called you honey, or Clint admitting you guys are working together?"

"The part where you're my girlfriend," she raised a brow. "We could've just said you were a friend."

"People do stupid things during the holidays, like bringing strangers to their homes to try and prove that they're happy or whatever. You get it? If I were a friend, and you didn't know basic stuff about me, that'd be suspicious. This is better."

Kate tilted her head. "Maybe."

"I'm gonna leave you to deal with the scolding waiting for you back there, and I'll find Clint to talk about the things you guys found— good luck!"

The elevator's door opened and she stepped inside. Kate stopped the door from closing. "Okay even if it was a good idea, you promised Clint not to flirt with me..."

Cat laughed. "I'm not! The last time I went out with someone like you, I was bored to death. I gotta give it to you, though, no one's been this eager to get my attention."

"I'm not eager," Kate looked away. "But if I were interested..."

"Would be wiser to stop, princess," she put the sunglasses back on. "I break hearts for sport and yours is not strong enough to take it."

"You know, for someone who got dragged into something they didn't wanna do, you look pretty happy..."

"Don't get it twisted, Bishop, if I'm smiling it's only because I want your mom to think I'm a charming young lady— none of this is fun for me."
