#ty and kit still talk because there's no sadness in this house
Text
since there’s no sobh entry today or ever again here’s a fun little list of my fav sobh entries ever!
coming up first we have the first Magnus to Alec letter. Listen this shit changed my life and was probably one of the highlights of my fall semester last year I’m not kidding it was that bad. Magnus and Alec made it better. that photo of them and the kids on vacation is my everything. Magnus calling Alec love. it’s everything. anyway we knew that was first
second we have the other Magnus to Alec letter. this one wasn’t hitting as much but it was still Magnus to Alec hence why it’s up at the top. it was still great. highlights include Magnus calling the kids m and r bc I think it’s cute, and Magnus calling Alec my love again. Also the entire last paragraph !
next is unobjectively the best sobh entry if we are not counting my extreme tmi gang bias. which is Livvy speaking to Julian!!!! I love the inflection the actress used and I think she encapsulated Livvy so so well and I LOVE IT. Kitty angst I am here for it. this was so gearing up for what the wicked powers will be. too bad it’s a decade away. anyway this entry slayed the house down!!!! ty needs kit.
next was a super fun surprise and def one of my favs : emma and Julian visiting the tmi gang in nyc!!! even tho it freaked me out because I am so scared of Janus I got to see my BEST FRIENDS jace clary and Alec <3 Simon and Isabelle could’ve been included but I’ll take what I can get. they ordered pizza my favs for that I love my tmi gang takeout food fiends. yeah this was sm fun
Here’s a random one. TESSA TO MARYSE. this was a banger. I love it. I remember reading it and this was like over a year ago but I was so in shock but so thrilled. Like it’s just random but fun for hearing about kit and Jace and the lightwood fam is my fav obviously. and that cute pic of Jace clary kit and mina!!!
next we have the kit to ty letter that kit burned. sad but good and also just interesting with its connections to james my best friend James Herondale. it’ll be interesting (?) to see what ends up happening with the gun in both chain of thorns and the wicked powers. cool stuff
also ash to Janus. Janus scares me because he very much threatens my fav but also Janus being a threat means tmi gang content right. I mean that makes sense to me I’ll take what I can get! Also I love ash so. I’m excited to see him more
Helen to Julian. this was cute. i love Helen and i love that pic of tavvy and I love them worrying about ty aw. yay blackthorn siblings sometimes I forget that I love them
Honorable mention: dru and Kit texting. i do enjoy the 2014 looking text message entries because they’re fun and like gen z I guess. but also they were j short and didn’t have enough content to be good. you know
More honorable mentions: Ragnor and Ty’s visit, some of Emma’s entries in Bruce, Cristina talking abt Thomas lightwood, and Tessa to Sophie even though it was the saddest thing ever
thats it that’s the list

tw. serious self loathing
kenma hated hospitals.
the cold sterile air, the incessant beeping of machines, the loud voices of the doctors — mix it all together and you get the perfect recipe for kicking up kenma’s anxiety.
it was bad enough, what with you being the one in the hospital bed, tied up to all those machines but all the other more extraneous details certainly didn’t help.
kenma’s eyes darted around the white hallway, his knee bouncing erratically as he tried to listen in through the door at what the doctor was saying. earlier, when he had tried to follow behind the rest of the house members to get your diagnosis, he was stopped by kuroo’s hand on his chest and a sad shake of his head.
he’d made his way back to the cold, unforgiving seats lining the hall right outside your room and attempted to overhear, something, anything, that would abate his anxieties.
unfortunately, the conversation was over before kenma could glean anything of substance, the door swinging open as the doctor exited, the atmosphere left in the room being tense and uncomfortable.
kenma quickly stood to his feet, glancing from face to face to discern some kind of news, be it good or bad. “w-what— is she okay? what’s going on?” as much as he willed it not to shake, his voice cracked in the middle of his sentence, his fear for you clearly bleeding into his words.
at the sound of his broken voice, all heads in the room turned towards him. he scanned all their faces but his eyes were stuck on atsumu’s, his own burning with a righteous fury.
before kenma could blink, atsumu was on him, shoving him up against the wall while pressing an arm against his chest. the thumping in kenma’s chest intensified, his eyes widening in dread as his breathing quickened.
he could faintly hear the sounds of protests from the other house members and off-duty nurses but they were swiftly becoming drowned out by the blood and static rushing in his ears.
“atsumu. step down.” sakusa gritted before yanking atsumu off of kenma, allowing kenma to collapse onto the floor. the residual adrenaline and anxiety came to the point they were overwhelming, his breath coming in short pants as he tears leaked from his eyes.
“i-i’m sorry, ‘m sorry, ‘m sorry, i didn’t know, thought that it would be ok, thought she would be okay but she’s not, oh god this is all my fault, i’m sorry, m sorry,” his words came out like a broken faucet before he couldn’t stop them, his arms wrapping around himself as he rolled into the fetal position, determined to erase himself from his surroundings.
a presence appeared in front of him, crouching down and grabbing his hands before where they were digging into his skin, cradling them gently within their own. “hey bud,” bokuto said kindly, a big smile on his face despite the circumstances. “breathe with me, ok?”
kenma nodded before matching bokuto’s exaggerated breathing, in and out, in and out, until his heartbeat was finally back to normal and he didn’t feel like he was going to collapse. “you wanna tell us what happened?”
he firmly kept his gaze on bokuto, determined not to look at everyone else’s scared, angry, or hurt expressions as he explained himself. “i-i saw yn g-go to the bathroom and it was fine because o-of course it was but then i s-saw meiko follow and it d-didn’t register? it happened so f-fast and then i got distracted and it e-escaped my mind until y-you guys brought it up. i j-just— i didn’t think m-meiko was gonna do anything. we were in public and—“
“that won’t stop her.” kenma chanced a look at suga who was the one who spoke, his eyes downcast and stormy with anger and... sadness?. “you didn’t know and that’s whatever, but meiko is fucking crazy. never underestimate her again.” he warned with a grave tone. all kenma could do was nod, a fresh wave of tears coming to his eyes.
“‘m sorry,” he whimpered, his gaze falling upon the white lines on his suit pants. the group let out hums of acknowledgment before falling back into a tense silence, the only sounds coming from the hospital around them.
it didn’t last very long.
“yn! yn!” a deep masculine voice rang from the entrance of the hospital, followed by a quieter platitude and then a host of shushes from the nurse on the floor. the taller man with dark hair managed to lock eyes with kenma, his body moving quickly until he was right in front of the group.
“i need to see her. now.” the man’s voice was dark and menacing but kenma was the only one who seemed to shrink at the sound, the others sizing the outsider up and glaring him down. atsumu waved them away before bringing the pair into a hug, the shorter pink-haired man sighing deeply into the embrace.
atsumu exchanged short “pleasantries” with the two newcomers before turning towards your door wistfully. “uh, ya will be able ta see her soon enough but her throat is fucked pretty badly. she’s asleep right now but doc says she won’t be able to talk for at least a week.”
kenma’s heart caught in his throat. you wouldn’t be able to speak?? because of him?? the thought made him clam back up, his dark hair spilling over his shoulders to shield him from the rest of the hall. he could hear more voices, a door clicking open, a soft gasp, and a growled threat but he was too strung up to focus any more than that.
my fault, my fault, my fault, my fault, played over and over on repeat in his mind, his inner demons taunting him for ruining your life. you would never forgive him, never lay your eyes upon him again without showing disgust and disdain. it was what he deserved, especially after the hell he put you through, no matter how much it hurt.
he faintly recognized at some point in his self loathing, that he was moving somewhere with the group, their hands on him as though they were leading him someplace, not that it mattered.
kenma already knew he was a horrible waste of space and this cemented it for him. but, his mind so helpfully offered, even if you are a piece of shit, you can still do something, something big. make meiko pay for how she hurt you and suga and the rest of them.
oh, he was going to do something alright. he was going to do something so large, so enormous that meiko’s reputation could never, ever recover.
kenma was absolutely going to get his revenge. not for him, no, he could care less about himself. no, he would do it for you and all those who had suffered by her hand.
after all, it was the very least he could do.

Spiders Are Ugly And Other Lies Capitalism Has Told Us (part one)
“Dad,” Astrid called out, shutting the coral coloured front door behind her. “Are you home?”
She dumped her cream tote bag spray painted with the words ‘Washing Machine Heart’ in big, rainbow letters onto one of the stools facing the granite countertop. The rest of the Merry Hoes followed suit. It was weird seeing a person as chaotic as Astrid in such a calm environment.
They were all spending the summer in LA with Astrid and her Dad. It had taken a while for Kevin to convince his family it was a good idea. Especially because he and Blessica had finally put years of pinning behind them. Making out on Kit’s bed at Mina’s third birthday party certainly wasn’t the way they had envisioned it but as the longing was over with, they were happy.
The Chu’s didn’t love the idea of their son living in a different country for three months with his girlfriend but we’re on board once Kevin assured them there was no possible way Blessica could get pregnant.
Kit wasn’t officially sleeping at the Yang’s but at the Institute with his boyfriend. Julian wasn’t so thrilled about the situation but Emma was. She was positively ecstatic about having a training partner as skilled as Kit was, courtesy of Jem and Tessa. Though staying a thirty minute drive away (on the wrong side of the road, Mari noted) wouldn’t keep Kit away for long. Even now he was with them instead of having his own reunion make out session.
Speaking of making out…
Mari rested their chin on the top of Astrid’s head and wrapped their arms around her middle. “Why don’t you show us your room while we wait for your dad to get home.”
It was kinda perfect, Mari often remarked, that she realized her feelings for their best friend weren’t so platonic as she previously led herself to believe at the same time they and Kit realized they were better off as just platonic.
Astrid hit her hand playfully. “That’s not fair!” she whined! ”How dare you take advantage of my constant hornyness when my God-fearing Presbyterian father could be in the next room? Shame! Shame on you, shame on your family, shame on your cow.”
“I’m pretty sure it’s ‘dishonor’”, said Kit, who didn’t even look up from his phone when he addressed her, “but go off I guess.”
Astrid looked like she was questioning all her life choices up to this point. “A white boy knows Mulan better than me.” She shook her head in disgust. Mari could feel the loose hairs of her girlfriend’s ponytail ticking her exposed collar bone. “Mulan.”
Mari laughed before softly brushing their lips against Astrid mop of bleached strands of pastel yellow, pink and blue mixed magnificently with her natural inky black.
“Is hornyness even a word?” Kevin wondered aloud as he observed the knickknacks placed at even intervals utop the kitchen cabinets. Blessica was with him. She was gazing at one of a crab steering a ship when she spotted a slim piece of paper taped below it.
“Ast,” she called. The both looked in her direction, despite Blessica needing the attention of one. “Your dad says he won’t be home till seven. Emergency at work.”
“Which leaves us more than enough time to pack and head over to meet Ty, Dru and Thaìs at the arcade,” said Kit. He finally turned his phone off and shoved it into the back pocket of his ripped jeans. “Marstrid can do the ol’ devil’s tango then catch up to us.”
‘Marstrid’ wrinkled their noses. “I thought we agreed on Astari, Christopher.”
“Astari sounds gayer,” confirmed Kevin, his eyes never leaving the miniature decorations.
“Not to be rude but why does Astari sound gayer?” asked a visibly confused Blessica.
“Because,” answered Mari, unraveling herself from Astrid to slide onto one of the bar stools and reaching into the Jolly Rancher jar, blindly searching for a green, “Astari has ‘star’ in it. Star equals astrology. An obsession with astrology is the price you pay for the gay agenda. Besides, Marstrid sounds like an old southern lady.” Then she furrowed her eyebrows and swiveled to face Astrid. “Southern is Texas, right?” Astrid nooded, a smile so big the Cheshire Cat would be jealous.
Without looking, she stuck her hand in the jar and pulled out a green apple flavoured hard candy on her first try. She held it out to Mari, who snatched it out of her hand with an angry huff.
“Hey, Ast, where do you guys keep the crisps?” asked Kevin when he finished inspecting all the knickknacks.
“Uh, under the barbecue sauce, I think.”
Kit’s eyes lit up. “So I’m sitting there”- Astrid understood what was happening in just enough time to quote- “barbecue sauce on my titties” in unison.
Mari put her head into their open palms, still sucking on the pity candy. “Why is this my type?”
“Are you sure this is the right place?” asked Blessica as Kit attempted to parallel park outside the location Ty had texted him to meet at. Key word, attempt. When Tessa had taught him to drive, he’d been such a disaster at parallel parking she had instructed him to ‘take the underground when tight spaces might be a possibility.’ Which he prided himself in doing. But this was America and the underground was called the subway, so, technically, no rules were being broken.
“Yes, Blessie, I’m certain.”
“Okay. Just checking cause a few turns back the GPS said-”
“Blessie!” He nearly crashed into the car in front of him.
“Right. Shutting up.”
When Kit managed to park with minimal damage and the three were about to exit, the voice of Nicki Minaj boomed from his pocket. Ty was calling him. He accepted the call, putting it on speaker.
“Hello Tiberius.” There was giggling from the other end of the line. A groan soon followed it.
“It’s been a year,” came the annoyed voice of Dru. “Get over your British kink already.” Kevin’s laughter echoed from the backseat.
“Hey Ty!
“Hi Kevin.”
”Hey Dru!”
“Fuck off.”
“Ouch. Why do you feel the need to hurt me so?” Blessica laughed.
“Hey…Thaìs?”
“Here,” replied Thaìs cheerfully.
“Are you here yet,” asked Ty.
“Uh, yeah! We were just getting out of the rental car when you called. You didn’t tell me it was going to be crowded. I had to parallel park!”
“What are you talking about?” interrupted Dru. ”There are only four cars in the parking lot.”
“But,” Ty countered, “there are lots of Billy’s Fun Zones’ around here. You guys must have got mixed up and taken a wrong turn. I could have sworn I sent you the correct location on GPS.” Maybe Ty said more on the subject but Kit could hear anything or see anything except the superior smirk Blessica was giving him.
He covered the speaker. “Not. A. Word.” And no word came out of her mouth the entire ride to the correct Billy’s Fun Zone but the ‘I told you so’ look on her face spoke loud enough.
Kit slid back into the booth next to Ty, handing him his pretzel. Ty kissed him on the check in gratitude.
Dru and Ty were right. About this one being empty. He told him he had heard about it from Alyssa. Her pack frequented it often. They were left alone because, well, there was no one else there to bother them.
“Where are Astrid and Mari?” he asked.
“Fucking. I think. Or maybe just making out. I’ll know which one when they finish.” When Ty gave him a puzzled look he continued, “Astrid describes it all to me in full detail. I honestly don’t know whether she doesn’t have a filter or she just needs someone to scream to about how amazing Mari is.”
“Why can’t it be both?”
“True, true.”
They sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes before Ty picked up the conversation again. “When Thaìs first met Astrid, she had a huge crush on her. They got along great. I always thought they would end up together. Or hook up at the very least.”
“Huh, that’s funny,” observed Kit.
“What is?”
“When me and Mari split, I was planning on trying to set them up with Thaìs. But then I caught her ans Astrid making out in a storage closet at school. Which, in hindsight, was pretty stupid cause they were in there so I wouldn’t be sad Mari moved on when I opened the door in the first place avoiding her to call you.”
“Hmmmm.”
The gears in Ty’s head were visibly turning. Kit loved watching this process. An idea was forming in his boyfriend’s genius mind, he could sense it.
“What is their stance on monogamy?” he asked finally.
“Um, fuck, hold on. Mari sent me this whole speech about it.” Kit scrolled through his phone at a rapid rate before he saw what he was looking for. He cleared his throat and began reading aloud.
Mari_da_bisexual_whore, sent 1:52 AM: monogamy is just another lie capitalism has fed us
Mari_da_bisexual_whore, sent 1:55 AM: like, for example, the notion that house spiders are ugly and to be feared
Mari_da_bisexual_whore, sent 1:56 AM: it’s just to sell bug spray
Mari_da_bisexual_whore, sent 1:56 AM: same with monogamy
Mari_da_bisexual_whore, sent 1:56 AM: pointless!!!
Mari_da_bisexual_whore, sent 1:58 AM: in conclusion, if I want to join a polyam cult, who tf is the government to stop me?
Kev-Kev, sent 2:01 AM: mari please go to sleep
Bless-ing_to_the_world, sent 2:04 AM: ^^^^^^^^^^^
Mitski_my_love, sent 2:05 AM: preach!
Mitski_my_love, sent 2:05 AM: go off queen
By the time Kit was finished with his dramatic reading, Ty’s plan was fully formed.
“That settles it! We are going to play matchmakers!”

“I didn’t know where else to go” kitty🥺❤️
Tumblr media
I want to apologize to both of you - you send these requests before the Gabrily and Charlotte x Henry ones but to write three KitTy fics in a raw would be a little too much for me 😅 (I also hope you don't mind I mixed your requests and made them second part of another fic 😅)
Also - thank you ♥️ I hope you enjoy this!
Part one of “I'm leaving” fic (it's not necessary to have read it to understand this fic)
PROMPTS: (50# general) “I didn’t know where else to go.” + (25# fluff) “Your hair is really soft.”
After the mission Kit waited, along with a few other Shadowhunters for Portal to London, so he could leave.
When he tried to talk with Ty, he looked at him with a weird expression and told him to go.
Kit was confused. Ty kissed him and said they needed to talk but now he acted like nothing happened. What Kit was supposed to do?
Someone yelled the Portal to London is open. Kit looked at Ty one more time. He looked pale on the moonlight, his shoulders tense. Kit got worried. Did he get hurt without Kit noticing? Or had it something to do with Livvy? Or because it was noisy here?
Or maybe he regrets that he kissed me and avoids me now, Kit thought bitterly and stepped in the portal. He wanted to go home.
It had been a few hours since the mission. Kit took a shower, ate.
Jem and Tessa were awake, waiting for him to return. Mina was asleep. They noticed something was wrong. Of course they did. But Kit told them everything is fine and he was just tired. This wasn't untrue. He was tired and wanted to rest. But remembering that Ty kissed him and then acted like he didn't want to look at Kit hurt him like a knife.
A terrible thought crossed Kit's mind. What if Ty did it for revenge? To hurt Kit the way Kit hurt him? By leaving him? But he immediately rejected it. Ty wasn't like this. He wasn't manipulative or mean. He wouldn't do this to Kit. Or to anyone.
Kit decided he was done with overthinking. He had to do something, to distract himself from thinking about Ty. So he went to train.
But even before he could put on a gear, he heard something. Steps. Kit tensed immediately and grabbed the weapon closest to him - knife.
He quietly approached the place the sound was coming from. He could see a person's figure. Was this...
“Ty?”
Kit thought he was hallucinating but it really was Ty. On their mission together he couldn't see him properly because it was night, but Ty stepped into the light now.
He was taller than Kit now - he noticed it on the mission too. But he noticed something else now - Ty looked stronger, with more muscle and more... mature. His skin was pale as Kit remembered it. And his eyes, grey as steel, was looking at his collarbone.
Kit put down the knife. His heart was beating fast, aching, but he came closer to the other boy. Ty's expression was dark. He was wearing other clothes, not gear, but mundane t-shirt, jeans and jacket.
“What are you doing here?” Kit asked, sharper than he intended.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” Ty said.
“What happened? Why... How did you get here?”
“I asked Ragnor to open a Portal for me,” Ty said. “He wasn't happy about it but I convinced him.”
“This is not important," Ty said, sounding somehow urgent. “I came here because of Livvy.”
“Livvy?” Kit was confused. He hasn't seen her for so long. “Why? Where is she?”
“I don't know,” Ty said and frowned. “This is the problem. At least one of them. I felt that... that something is wrong with her. At the mission. I wanted to come back to the Scholomance to check on her but she wasn't there.”
Kit's stomach tightened. He remembered what happened when she was here the last time.
“I thought that she may be here because you're the only one who can see her besides me.”
“I'm sorry,” Kit shook his head. “I haven't seen her.”
Ty signed and ran a hand through his hair. His hair was longer now.
“We may search the house,” Kit said hesitantly. “She probably wants to be around people or something like that.”
Ty didn't seem convinced but he didn't have a better option.
They went to Kit's room first, in case Livvy was waiting for him there. Then the kitchen. The garden.
“We may check Mina's room,” Kit suggested. “She's a baby but is a heavy sleeper. Unlike Jem and Tessa.”
Ty agreed, looking desperate.
Kit put on a soundless rune and slowly opened the door to Mina's room. Ty was behind him.
There they saw Livvy. She was sitting in the corner of the room, Mina's toys all around the floor. She was looking at the sleeping Mina. Her expression was sorrow, guilty and so sad that Kit looked away. It felt too private.
He didn't dare to look at Ty either. He just closed the door as slowly as he opened it.
“She knows I'm here,” Ty said quietly. “She'll come when she's ready.”
Kit nodded. “Let's go to the kitchen until we wait.”
Ty agreed, without looking at him and Kit led the way. He asked Ty if he wanted something to eat or drink. He said only water. Kit got them glasses of water and sat on the table, in front of Ty. The dark-haired boy took one of the cups and drank the water. He didn't let go of the glass.
“I'm sorry,” Ty said. “If my leaving offended you. I was worried about Livvy.”
“It's okay,” Kit said and looked at his half-full glass. “I understand.”
Ty took a breath. “What I wanted to talk about is actually... what happened three years ago.”
Kit squeezed the cup. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Ty repeated. His glass was already empty so he slowly ran fingers all around it. “Back then I terribly misunderstood the situation.”
Kit looked at him, confused. “How?”
After a few seconds Ty said, “I thought that you're helping me bring Livvy back is because you're in love with her.”
A shock hit Kit. God, Ty was thinking...
“You have got the twin wrong,” he said, not without bitterness.
“I saw how you two kissed,” Ty just said.
Kit took a sharp breath.
“That's not... It was not what you think.”
Ty looked at Kit, at his nose. “What was I supposed to think, Kit?”
“We didn't do it because we liked each romantically or something,” Kit tried to explain, anxious. “Just... she asked me. She wanted to know what's like to kiss someone. This was the only reason. I... I thought she's pretty, of course. But nothing more. There weren't any feelings from my side. Not for her.”
And you're the one I think is beautiful, Kit thought but didn't dare to say it out aloud.
“I-”
Boys?” The very sleepy and very surprised Jem was standing at the kitchen's door.
They both stand up, Kit nerves like he was caught making out with someone.
“Ugh,” he said. “Good morning.”
Jem blinked. “Good morning, Kit.” He looked at Ty. “Ty Blackthorn. Nice to see you again.”
“Likewise,” Ty said and was Kit imagining it or he sounded nervous too?
“What are you doing here? Visiting our Kit?”
“Something like that,” Kit murmured.
“Then why in the middle of-”
“Jem, we're good,” Kit hurried to explain. “Ty, ugh, didn't realize the difference between time zones. Or he would have come at a different time.”
Kit hated lying to Jem but what could he tell him? That they searched for Ty's dead sister?
“Our time zones are only two hours apart,” Ty murmured, but thankfully Jem didn't hear him.
“If you say so,” Jem was looking at them, still a little stunned. “Ty, I don't know if Kit already did it, but I can prepare a room for you.”
“There is no need,” Ty said.
He was gonna go soon, Kit realized. In the moment Livvy returned, they were gonna go back to the Scholomance. This was an unexpectedly painful thought.
“Oh, then you will stay in Kit's room?”
Wait, what?
Kit looked at Jem but he was already turning away, saying he came only for water and will leave them alone. He looked at Ty who had the same stunned face as Kit.
“I will tell Tessa you're here,” Jem said. “In the morning we can have breakfast together,” he smiled and left the kitchen.
Kit hid his face with both hands and murmured, “I'm so sorry. Jem is too friendly sometimes.”
“Well,” Ty said. “I will just sleep here then.”
“Are you sure? Don't you have classes or something?”
“No. Tomorrow is a free day.”
“Okay,” Kit said and nervously looked everywhere but Ty. “Will we wait for Livvy?”
“We don't have to. We're close to each now and she can find me.”
“Good,” Kit said. “Then... Shall we go?” He still couldn't believe what just happened. He was going to sleep in one room with Ty. Probably in one bed as well. When they were fifteen they used to do this but this time, he thought, it would be different.
Ty looked at him for a second. “Okay.”
At the next morning, Kit was strangely cozy. His whole body was warm and in a comfortable position. He wasn't cold or sore like he usually was after intense training or demon hunting.
His mind didn't realize what was happening. He was lying on someone - he could hear a beating heart and touch skin. His face was in someone's neck. He signed happily.
Kit felt someone's hands on his back and then fingers in his hair.
“Your hair is really soft,” a murmur. This voice...
He raised his head with reluctance to look at the other person. For seconds, a very few seconds he met grey eyes, grey like a storm.
Kit jumped from his embrace and sat on the bed. His heart was beating faster than ever and his throat was dry. He was sure his face was red.
He was sleeping on Ty, for fuck's sake. And Ty let him, he just let Kit snuggle into him. Kit was so embarrassed he could die.
Ty sat on the bed too. He could hear the smile in his voice. “Sorry, I didn't want to startle you. You slept so peacefully that I just didn't want to wake you up.”
“He is not bothered by that.”
Kit looked up at Livvy, who was grinning at the other end of the room, probably watching them for a while.
Kit flushed. “Shut up,” he murmured. “Jem and Tessa will wait us for breakfast,” he said and got out of bed without looking at Ty. He couldn't forget his intense gaze.
It wasn't like they were doing anything. Just sleeping and cuddling. Nothing happened.
“I'm first in the bathroom,” Kit said. He heard Livvy's laugh behind him.

Enchanted
Song : Enchanted by Taylor Swift
Ship : Kit x Ty
For @bazsnow
It was a whirlwind in the way their story began and happened. It all started that night in the basement of Johnny Rook's house. When Ty had gone there to try and help his brother. To search answers. To solve a mystery. But he hadn't known that he would meet someone there who would become just as important to him.
When he had gone to the basement, he had seen a figure moving around. Ty had immediately put a knife to the person's neck. When he had seen that it was a boy around his age, he had wondered what the boy had been doing there.
In the dark basement, he had sympathized with the boy who had to live in such a miserable-looking place. But when Ty had looked into the boy's eyes, all he could think was that he was enchanted to meet him.
All he had wanted to say, "I am enchanted to meet you."
Shocked and confounded with his emotion, he had settled for asking who he was.
Kit Rook.
Ty had wondered when he would be able to meet the boy again. The boy with golden hair and blue eyes. The boy who could simply be described as ethereal. Other-worldly.
This was his prayer that it was the very first page, not where the story line ends.
And then, he had found the boy at the entrance of the Institute. Looking wide-eyed and tired and scared.
Ty had been elated when he had found that Kit would be living in the Institute and he had empathized with his sadness of loss of his father. He had stayed outside his door, just to let him know that if he wanted, he had someone to talk to.
Ty had thought Kit might dislike him, when he had not come out of his room till a long time or might find Ty bothersome or weird as everyone thought him to be but then after a while, Kit had come out, and Ty had got the chance to talk to him.
Since then, the playful conversation started. All the adventures that happened since, he held them close to his heart. All the memories, for Kit was a part of all of them.
When they had been leaving for the London Institute, he had been worried that Kit would not like to leave a city where he has lived for so long and he would leave them and when Kit had reassured him that he will be joining them, Ty had had a genuine smile on his face.
The night at the London Institute when Ty had held on to Kit, he had felt such peace in his arms. All Ty had wished was just to never let go. His mind had calmed down.
The only person who'd been with him and tried to understand him outside his family was Kit. After Livvy's death, Ty had been devastated. He had been determined to bring her back. He had asked for Kit's help then. Because he knew, Kit would be there to support him. Kit would be there, till Ty needed his help. And Kit had been there, until he hadn't. Ty had known that he had fallen in love. Ty had known he was in love with Kit. The boy on whose neck he had put a knife to, now he couldn't imagine ever letting someone hurt Kit.
Finding out that he lost the two people he loved had left him made him felt as if a knife was being plunged repeatedly into his heart.
And now, Kit was gone. And Kit had said he wished to have never met Ty.
Since then, Ty had woken up several nights, when he was at the Institute, pacing back and forth, wishing Kit to be at the door. Ty had wished that when he'd open up, Kit would say the same words that Ty had wanted to say all that time ago.
“Hey, I was enchanted to meet you.”
Ty wished that everything would go back to the way it was, even though he knew there was no way it would. With Livvy gone. With Kit gone.
At the Scholomance, one day Ty thought sitting in his room, "There I was again tonight, forcing laughter, faking smiles at the same old tired, lonely place" Ty scoffed at his luck, “How different it could have been if Kit had stayed.” Although he had always wanted to go there, he couldn't deny the loneliness he felt. He had made a friend but it had always been hard for Ty to talk to new people, and it had been more harder since Kit had left him. When someone talked to him, his eyes would keep shifting from place to place leading people to think he was uninterested in the conversation.
A glimmer of hope appeared when Kit gave Ty his necklace. The heron necklace. They had started talking again since Ty sent a letter to Kit thanking him for his help. Now whenever he felt nervous, his hands reached out to the necklace at his neck.
Then there had come the war. Where Ty had finally been able to see Kit again. The shifting eyes and the vacancy in the heart vanished when he saw his face. Ty was shocked at all the emotions coursing through him. The anger, the relief, the elate and the love, all of it coming to him suddenly overwhelmed him that he left the room as soon as he saw Kit's silhouette making its way toward him.
They had eventually talked, where they had finally let out all that had been on their mind. Ty had definitely been more happier since they had talked out and started to spend time together.
The war had suddenly become more real. They had worked together on all of the missions to prevent the war and Ty was worried someone would leave him this time as well, like his father had, like Livvy had.
The war had been long and brutal, many were hurt severely but most had survived. Ty had walked around to see whether everyone he knew was alright or not. He had seen everyone but he couldn't see Kit, when suddenly there was someone in front of him.
Kit.
Kit was alright.
Kit was here.
Kit was looking at Ty with a tenderness and it gave him courage to ask what he had wanted to since so long.
"Can I kiss you?"
Kit's face was shining, his eyes glinted as he nodded and leaned in to kiss Ty.
They had been together since then and now, they were laying together in each other's arms.
Kit asked him, smiling and sleepily, "What are you thinking?"
Ty looked at him and said, "Just how we met and what my first thought then had been."
"What was your first thought? I have always wondered that. When you pressed a knife to my neck, I had still thought how beautiful you were. What did you think of the guy you were immediately ready to kill?" Kit started to look awake now and interested, even though he asked in an amused time.
"I told you, that was business." Ty replied and finally did what he had wanted to say all that time ago "And I all I had wanted to say was that I was enchanted to meet you."
Kit's face glowed with the happiness reflected in his grin as Ty leaned towards him to kiss him.

Hi there lovely! Here’s my probably dumb request, feel free to change parts if you’d like! So my idea was for Diego to break up with the reader to “protect her” or something like that, but one night he gets hurt while doing vigilante stuff, and has to go to her to help him patch him up, like when they were still together, and then I’m not sure what else lol. So basically a little angsty and a little fluffy. Love you and your work!!💕💕
A/N: so this ended up in a very bittersweet direction, and is definitely more angsty than fluffy, but I hope you like it. Word Count: 1552 Content Warnings: Injury, swearing
You sat up, staring out your window at the city lights sparkling in the night. You knew that you should sleep, hoping that the cup of tea which had gone cold as you cradled it in your hands would soothe you but it didn’t. For a long time, you were used to this late schedule, but Diego had broken up with you weeks ago, and try as you might, you couldn’t get yourself to break your routine of waiting up for him. You mind raced anxiously, even more than it did when you were together; you still cared about him and you hadn’t heard from him in weeks, had no clue if he was even okay.
Suddenly, a soft knock on your front door stirred you from your thoughts. Rising, you set your mug on the counter and moved to look through the peephole. You frowned, at first confused because you didn’t see anyone there, until he shifted, and you realized that Diego was leaning outside on your porch, and he didn’t look good. Hastily you threw open the deadbolt to let him in.
“Diego!” you cried. “What are you doing here? And what happened?”
“Didn’t know where else to go,” he mumbled, shame and guilt filling him.
You wanted to be mad at him. You wanted to tell him to leave, that he didn’t get to shatter your heart into a thousand tiny fragments and then show up again when he needed you. Instead, you looped his arm over your shoulders so he could better lean on you and led him inside. Acting on instinct, on muscle memory ingrained by two years of dating him, you sat him on the couch and went for the first aid kit under the bathroom sink. You already had his knife harness undone and his turtleneck off, a cotton ball wet with rubbing alcohol pinched between your fingers before you even hesitated, it suddenly occurring to you what you were doing.
“Y/N,” he sighed, noticing you pull away, rocking back on your heels.
“I’m going to help you, Diego,” you snapped, unable to look at him, knowing he would be giving you those big, sad eyes he was so good at. “But honestly, what the fuck? You broke up with me, no matter how hard I begged you not to go and now you think you have any right to show up on my doorstep because you did some of your usual dumb shit and got hurt?”
“Hey! It wasn’t dumb, it was saving people,” he argued, wincing when raising his voice pulled at his injuries.
You sighed, blotting at the worst of them, a long gash in his side.
“I…wasn’t thinking, Y/N. I’m sorry.”
“Is that for breaking my heart or for showing up here?”
You tried to move as efficiently as possible, trading your usual gentleness for the prospect of getting him out of your house sooner.
“Both?” his voice was soft, tired and full of regret.
Clearing away all of the blood, you realized that this was going to need stitches and sighed. That meant you were going to want him to spend the night, just to make sure they took properly and there weren’t further complications. Grimacing, you threaded a needle.
“Diego…” you knew how he felt about needles and genuinely felt bad that you had to do this. “You might want to look away and hold onto something.” You nodded toward one of your throw pillows, silently suggesting he squeeze it to help with the pain.
He did as you said, trusting you completely even after everything you had been through. Still, as the metal bit into skin, he shouted in pain and you found yourself murmuring repeated apologies and words of comfort. The minutes seemed to drag on as you sewed until finally you were tying off the thread and snipping the end.
“You should get some rest,” you said, rising stiffly from where you had been crouched in front of him. “You can sleep here if you want…”
His hand shot out to grab hold of your wrist as you tried to brush past him and put the rest of the medical supplies away.
“Y/N,” he sighed, ducking and weaving his head to try and catch your eye. “I…”
“Can we not do this Diego? I’m tired, you’re injured, neither of us are really at our best.”
“But…”
“If you really want to talk, maybe in the morning.”
He sighed. “Okay. Goodnight, Y/N.”
He let you go, hand sliding down to briefly brush against your own, fingers twitching as if he wanted to hold yours, the way he used to do.
~
The following morning, you had half-forgotten the whole encounter as you stumbled, not fully awake into your kitchen. Which is why you screamed, startled and heart racing to find him sitting at the island, across from a steaming mug, perfectly made to your tastes.
“Jesus, Diego,” you gasped. “You scared the shit out of me.”
He couldn’t help the half-chuckle that passed his lips. “Sorry. I forgot how jumpy you are in the morning.”
You shot him a glare. “How’s your side?”
“Seems fine. I had a good nurse.”
“Don’t start.”
“But…please just give me a few minutes?”
You bit your lip. You didn’t want to give him another moment of your time.
“Why should I? I already gave you two years, and you through those out like garbage.” You tried to keep the tremble of hurt from your voice.
“I…I sh-sh-shouldn’t h-have b-br-broken…” he sighed, his stutter stopping his apology short and he closed his eyes, trying to clear his mind of it.
Meanwhile, you were really looking at his face for the first time since he’d showed up on your doorstep. You could see just how much this was taking out of him, this fighting with you, this being apart. Your heart ached, all those jagged edges he had left behind aching to reach out to his, to connect and be whole once more.
“Forget about shouldn’t have or should have. It doesn’t make a difference to me. I just want to know why you did it.”
“Because of last night!” he cried, staring at you like you had just asked the most obvious question in the world.
“What are you talking about?”
“You…you’re so calm now when I come home injured. You don’t even flinch at it anymore.”
Your heart caught in your throat at his words. Did he really still consider your place home? After weeks, after leaving you so suddenly, after everything? A sliver of hope wedged itself into your soul, digging in so that it would need to be surgically carved back out.
“So what? You broke up with me because I adapted to put up with the lifestyle you picked? Because I decided that you were more important to me than normal sleep schedules or not needing to know how to sew and bandage a wound?”
“You shouldn’t have had to choose. I shouldn’t have made you…put you…this is my life, and I made you live it too.”
“Bullshit. I literally just said I chose this. I chose you. I could have walked away any time. I didn’t.”
“Y/N…”
“No Diego. You’re going to listen to me for once. Please.”
Taken aback, he nodded. Steadying yourself, you took a long sip of your drink, hoping he couldn’t see how your hands trembled as you clutched the mug.
“I love you Diego. Present tense, not going to change my mind any time soon. Love you. Which is why it hurt so badly to have you pull away, talking about putting me in danger and not being worth it. Because you are worth everything to me. And if you can’t be okay with that choice, then that’s fine, but I need you to acknowledge it at least.”
You felt the prickling of tears welling up in your eyes as you stared down at the counter, fingers tracing patterns in the laminate. And then there were hands on your cheeks, thumbs stroking across the ridge of them, familiar callouses brushing against your skin. You looked up into Diego’s eyes to find them just as teary as your own and so full of love that you thought you might drown in them, and you were fully willing for that to be the way you went if you did.
“F-f-forgive m-me?” he asked, whole body trembling.
You shook your head, watching as he seemed to deflate, nearly crumpling in on himself, only to stiffen in confusion as your hands slid over his shoulders to wrap around his neck.
“I can’t forgive you, but I’m willing to move past it and give you another chance, as long as you promise to never do it again. Promise to talk to me, and let me make my own decisions.”
He nodded rapidly, and you sighed, pulling him closer into a hug, his hands dropping to clutch desperately at your waist as if afraid you would disappear.
“I promise. I love you Y/N,” he murmured as he buried his face in the side of your neck.
“I love you too baby,” you replied, closing your eyes to bask in the moment, even as you wondered if you could trust the weight of his promise not to be empty.

hi @chocolatecarstairs came up with these post-CHOG questions and i really want to answer them because im sad that im finished reading it :((
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
what was your favorite part, 1 or 2?
Honestly I loved both parts, but I’d say I loved part two just a little bit more for the time that James wasn’t under the curse anymore and LOVED Cordelia
which scene in the book was your favorite?
EVERY scene that had Matthew and James being wholesome parabatai in it!!! my favourite chapter in this book was Blue Ruin, the one after Grace takes the bracelet back from James  (aside from the whispering room ofc).
what scene (or scenes) made you cry the most?
ok ngl i didnt spend much of this book crying, but the only scene that actually made me tear up was when james was dying and matthew could feel it and jesse (WHO I FUCKING LOVED MORE THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD) gave him his last breath :(((((
what scenes were unsatisfactory?
there were not enough Christopher scenes (but to be fair, even if the entire book was just Christopher it still wouldnt be enough for me)
but fr, i cant think of any off the top of my head but i’ll edit this if i do later
what made you laugh the most?
matthew!! james!! thomas!! christopher!! also some of the things Jesse said
what bored you?
this wasn’t boring, but the whole charles/alastair plot line didn’t have me very invested. I did love the alastair/ cordelia scenes tho, so it was just charles that was the problem
also no offense to james bc he was my first actual fictional crush after reading TMH/NBS but like whenever he talked about being in grace i would literally zone out lol the bracelet curse makes him so boring but whenever he isnt in the curse/ is with someone who is NOT grace i just!! love him!!
what disappointed you?
cassie honestly had me kinda shipping matthew/cordelia for a solid FIVE SECONDS there when he stepped in to dance with her after james left her standing there, but that was one of the only scenes that made me feel like they had natural chemistry (along with the scene where he drops her off at her house). I felt like the during the rest of their interactions in the book, cordelia was kind of uncomfortable, which made me really sad because even tho she has every right to feel that way, i felt bad for matthew. I kind of want him to fall for someone else completely and for it to be reciprocated. also, i just really want for matthew and cordelia to become good friends because i feel like they could have such great natural chemistry if matthew didnt love her.
what is the top thing you wish had been done differently?
see above.
what things did you predict that came true?
JAMES BURNING DOWN BLACKTHORN MANOR I FUCKING SAID HE WOULD DO IT TWO FUCKING YEARS AGO IF YALL WANT ME TO LINK THE THEORY LMK
what are some things that were really unexpected?
ok there’s quite a few things here so bear w me babes:
- James genuinely loving cordelia from the start. I wasn’t expecting him to naturally feel nothing for grace at all, so i was expecting a slow burn jordelia, but finding out that he actually loves her makes me so happy but the end where cordelia thinks he was just pretending breaks my heart :(((
-matthew liking cordelia lol definitely was not expecting another parabatai love triangle but i hope it doesnt last. i do think it adds to the plot and i love it, it just hurts to see matthew so emo :(((
-I was expecting to like cordelia as a character, but i ended up LOVING her so fucking much???? she’s so three dimensional to me, and it’s interesting to see how her personality adapts around different characters as people adapt around different social circles irl
-liking jesse as much as i did
-ok so james’ entire character was a surprise to me. it’s so fascinating to see how the bracelet actually affected his personality. If you recall him in The Midnight Heir from TBC. he’s like an entirely different person. i still loved him in TMH but i went into CHOG thinking that if he was gonna be like that the entire time i’d probably get over him really quickly. i was pleasantly surprised by how much i ended up loving him even more tho
-i didn’t expect oliver hayward to die and im going to stay emo about it
- Christopher is so much more clear headed than he was made out to be prior?? like there were so many scenes where he was fully there and when he defended anna to alastair i just kfdsnfkld i love him
are there characters that you didn’t like before that you like now?
yikes umm... Alastair, maybe? he’s somewhat okay to me now, I dont dislike him as much as I used to. ooh and Hypatia Vex. the only scene i remember liking her in QOAAD was when she helped out kit, ty and dru (me, going a whole TSC post without somehow mentioning kit? not possible)
are there characters that you liked before that you don’t like now?
I started CHOG ready to give Grace the benefit of the doubt, and I was surprised by how timid and shy she seemed at the start, but it was interesting to see how it was all an act and how she doesn’t have an actual personality yet. one could argue that she actually does love james, but i doubt it at this point. i dont hate her yet, even tho she IS fucking up james’ life, but she’s on thin fucking ice.
who was your favorite new character?
does new character mean completely new or just never been in a novella new? because for the first, it would be Cordelia (i LOVE her sm!!) and other wise it would be james, matthew and co. also!!! jesse!!
what places in the book would you like to visit?
that hell dimension sounds pretty lit ngl
did you like the ending?
ok so. we KNOW that jordelia is gonna be endgame. cassandra clare always takes the hardest path to get there, but when has she not delivered? it’s just a matter of waiting. so, yes, i did like the ending in sense of the plot because it was a great twist, but i also feel really bad for all of them even tho ik they’re eventually gonna be together :(((
what did you think of the epilogue?
i wasnt surprised, since we alr know that Tatiana is shady asf, but i just really wanna know how she partnered up with a GREATER demon like lol wtf. again, im really happy in terms of plot with this
what are your thoughts on the engagement?
i feel so. fucking bad. for cordelia. and james too, even tho he’s under the bracelet’s curse so he doesnt even KNOW he’s being manipulated. but i love how even through the curse, james still loves cordelia in his own way.
what did you want to see that didn’t happen?
matthew getting therapy periodt
umm honestly i just want more “merry thieves” content like i just love. all of them.
what do you wish had been resolved that wasn’t?
i really want matthew to tell james or cordelia what happened because i just need him to be loved and supported lol i want to give him a hug.
what is your favorite pairing as of now?
jordelia!!! and lucie and jesse are kind cute rn, and i like them if theyre gonna be pining after eachother but i feel like if they actually get together i wont like the relationship as much.
which characters would you like to see more of in the next book?
CHRISTOPHER CHRISTOPHER CHRISTOPHER
ANNA!!! i lovED reading about her she’s so badass
matthew!! jesse!! also i wanna see more of those bitchy girls lol just so we can see anna or cordelia tell them to stfu
what is one character whose death you would undo if you could?
ok i know that jesse is still very much a conscious character despite being dead but like,,, i want him to be the way he was before and also i want him to come back to life
and barbara!! she seemed so sweet
which characters got bad/unsatisfactory endings?
ummm barbara? i cant really say much on this yet bc its still only the first book and when has the first book ever ended up with anyone being happy.
oh but also can we sign a petition to make cassie let matthew actually survive the series because my heart aches just at the THOUGHT of eventually having to read a scene where he dies
which characters got what they deserved?
literally. none of them yet. :(
who should have died but didn’t?
Tatiana lol also lowkey charles but i also feel pity him to an extent
what plotline are you most excited to see in the next book?
okay the entire jesse plot has me hooked because i LOVE his character. also i love the bracelet plot but its making me MAD because i just want james to be happy but
what is one scene that you wish hadn’t happened, but you know was unavoidable?
THE ONE WHERE GRACE PUTS THE BRACELET BACK ON JAMES. i mean obv there was no way he was completely done with grace, but i literally got so sad at that part like why HIM of all people smfh let him be happy
which pairing do you like the least?
alastair x charles, grace x james, lucie x matthew bc neither of them actually like either imo lol
what are some theories you have for chain of iron?
- not necessarily for COI but i think matthew is gonna get exiled and turned into made into a mundane
- the bracelet will break (?)
- jesse will come back to life (like actual life) at the end of the book
-grace is gonna do something to help the main characters, making it hard for us to hate her.
what characters do you think should have gotten more plot time?
lol are yall gonna hate me if i say christopher again (also anna)
anyways this was really fun!!!!! PLEASE ASK ME STUFF ABOUT MY OPINIONS AND STUFF OR JUST SAY ANYTHING ABT THE BOOK BC IM DESPERATE TO TALK TO PPL ABOUT IT

A Decision at the Crossroads
A Heartland AU - Chapter 4 – Finale
While Ty went to fetch his phone Amy popped open one of the side panels on the trailer and unsnapped the table that was first in line. She reached her arms wide to grab it and start lifting it out when Ty showed up.
“Whoa easy Amy, I’ll get it.”
“I’m fine.”
“Of course you are now back up please.”
“Thank you Ty.” She said and stepped aside “and 5 of the chairs please.”
“Six actually Kelsey’s coming.”
“Kelsey ?”
“Dr. Burton, my namesake apparently.” He said laying the table on it’s side and unfolding the legs. “Hey, this is nice set up.”
“We take trips with kids, believe me a table is always easier and cleaner than watching them balance plates. Besides it’s more homey and civilized.”
“I’ll file that away” he said maneuvering the table and then placing chairs as Amy opened and gave them a wipe with a damp cloth as well as the table. She had also removed a little basket with a tablecloth sealed in a zip loc bag, and began to spread it. As well as counting out silverware found in the basket as well.
“Ty there’s another basket with plates and more pitchers.” She said watching him walk over as she grabbed one pitcher from her now empty basket and put it on the table.
They set the table together, each handling three settings and Amy ran in for a roll of paper towels. He watched as she took a second to look at the table, nodded and walked over to lower herself into a chair slowly. She was wearing a blue dungaree dress that went down to her knees, it had ¾ sleeves and embroidery along the hem and collar. Obviously a maternity dress, he was captivated by her shape.
“You need to stop staring at me Ty, I’m becoming very self conscious, I already think I look like a beach ball.”
“You don’t, I’m sorry, you look great. Two kids, one on the way, I’m, I don’t know….”
“Three actually, you’re the first to hear, Clint Riley called, they have a foster for us, a young boy named Luke Kashani, he’s nine. Clint’s bringing him Monday.”
“Clint Riley, he’s still around huh. That’s nice, keeping that tradition going.”
“Yeah, Scott, you, Georgie, remember Badger, it’s nice.”
“Mitch mentioned Georgie and something with Lou, he also told me about the divorce.”
“Georgie was an orphan who ran away from her foster family in Okotoks, she stowed away in Grandpa’s pickup and found her way to Heartland. She was a keeper. The divorce is what it was I guess, it’s now amicable with benefits apparently, works for them.”
“Georgie lives with Lou at Heartland ?”
“Lou took a condo in town when she became Mayor and lives there with Katie. We fixed up the loft when I got back from Europe as a nice studio and I lived there alone and then with Mitch for awhile before moving to Saddle River, his family ranch, his parents have an independent living condo in Calgary. Georgie and Quinn are engaged and live in the loft, Grandpa and Lisa live in the house.”
“I heard Jack married Lisa, I saw an article about the Hall of Fame that mentioned it. I’m sorry about your dad Amy, I read about his passing.”
“The death of a legend, it was a nice tribute.”
“I saw a tribute to Lou as Mayor too, ordering the stay in place at home and closing Maggie’s early on definitely seemed to make a difference in the area.”
“It did and I think she’ll be remembered for that, this is her last term, she’s not running again. Enough about Hudson, tell me about you, is there someone special, Kelsey maybe ?”
“Nah, Kelsey and I never, there have been women over the years but I’m free now, I’m picky I guess.”
“Well when it happens you’ll know.”
“You and Mitch look happy.”
“We are, very happy.”
“How’s Jack ?”
“Older, pretty much retired, his arthritis, heart problems, a hard 90, for a former bronc rider and Alberta cowboy not fun.”
“Lisa ?”
“Lisa’s good, the perfect grandmother, she loves the kids. So does Casey, Lyndy adores them both. Mitch’s folks too.”
“Casey, I know this.”
“McMurtry.”
“Right, McMurtry Rodeos, they come around every couple years.”
She noticed quickly enough that he had changed the subject. “Ty ? Are you happy ?”
Ty looked at her and into her eyes, Amy could see that he wasn’t teary but there was disappointment, a small sadness in his face “I guess, I mean I don’t think I’m unhappy.”
“Were you happier yesterday ? Mitch said he thought you might be having a case of the might have beens.”
“I didn’t need to see you for that. The baby was eye popping don’t get me wrong and not in a bad way Amy, you look amazing, really the, well,  the high school boyfriend comment, that sort of slammed a world of reality down on me.”
“That’s what we were, we were an actual couple for most of my high school 3rd year, my senior year was a nightmare, we were way better as friends than as a couple Ty, we were a lousy couple.” She was smiling and not being harsh, her tone somewhat softly nostalgic, it was in fact a long time ago.
“Come on, that’s a bit extreme don’t you think ?”
“Really ? You really think ?” She said,  again somewhat amused and again not in anything more than the nostalgia of it “we had a good few months, you know Kit and the Quarantine and then I won the Ring of Fire and rather than joining me and perhaps a later bike trip in the summer to see some of the world you decided that you needed to go off alone for a few weeks. So, after the excitement of motels with my dad on tour and while I spent the rest of the summer working and doing what used to be your job on top of mine you came home almost 4 months later with a huge dose of misplaced maturity and Blair. Then Chase stuck his nose in, we were a good couple for 7 months, maybe. Look Ty, I know about what Grandpa did and he told me what led up to that talk and him sending you off. I don’t know what brought you to that point or why you didn’t come home, but it was your decision, we all had to live with your decision.”
“Looking back, I don’t know either honestly.”
“And I don’t know what would have happened if you had but I do know this, my life with Mitch and our kids feels so right to me that I can’t imagine life without him being a part of it, I’m not saying this to hurt you Ty, but your best days are still ahead of you.”
“So this is the honest conversation part we didn’t do back then huh ?”
“This is it.”
“How do you do it and go on together ?”
“You say it, get it out of your system and have sex, then you fix it in the morning.” She answered smiling.
“Well to be fair we weren’t, at the time, you know.” He said smiling.
“That’s true”, Amy agreed and immediately blushed and then agreed with a smirky smile and a nod, “hey, you’ve,  you know, since, right ?”
“Huh ?” Then realizing she meant had sex, “oh, oh yeah, no worries.”
“So, you’re still driving a classic truck I see, what’s that an early 70’s GMC ?”
“Yeah,’73, hey, whatever happened to Harley and Old Blue ?”
“After a while Caleb took Harley because, well, it broke my heart to see him every day and he eventually found him a nice home with a couple kids who were going to share him.”
“Sorry, I really wanted to,,,,, forget it. And the truck ?”
“Grandpa kept the truck running and in front of the house for months figuring if nothing else you’d show up in the night and drive it off but you didn’t and one day it wouldn’t start so he hauled it next to Goldie swearing he’d fix it one day.”
“So it’s just sitting there rotting ?”
“Well no actually, about the time Caleb sold Harley I was sick of looking at it so I got rid of it.”
“You sold it.”
“Well, in the interest of honesty, not exactly.”
“What does that mean, exactly ?”
“I attached the promise ring to the ignition key and had it crushed.”
“You had it crushed ?”
“I needed closure Ty, it was invigorating, a grand release of emotions.”
Ty stared at her for a few seconds in shock and then Amy started laughing and then holding her stomach bent over and laughing. “I’m sorry Ty.”
“It’s Ok” he said laughing along with her.
“Oh here, give me your hand.” She said reaching out, she loves it when I laugh “come on silly give me your hand” she prodded seeing the look on his face.
Finally she grabbed his hand and hauled it over, “come here I don’t bite,” gently she turned his palm and lay it over the right side of her belly holding her hand over his. A few seconds later she smiled, “there, feel that ?”
When she stretched out her leg rather than kicking Ty identified a second feeling and realizing it was really no different that any animal understood “that’s a stretch.”
“That’s it” she said gently releasing the pressure. “I think we’ll call her Marion, it’s time. Marion Fleming Cutty.”
“That’s really great, so Lyndy.”
“Lyndy Sarah, Mitch’s grandmother. Jackson Timothy and Marion no middle yet.”
“And Luke was it ?”
“Luke Kashani. I guess we’ll need something for a toast, is there a place to get some wine close by ?
“I have beer for dinner and a couple bottles of champagne I can donate to the cause. You drink ?”
“Oh no, I‘ve had a couple sips of champagne as toasts, wedding night and the like, but not, no, I don’t. Especially pregnant.”
“It was just a question Amy.”
She smiled and nodded, “you wouldn’t by any chance have any ice in there for the water ?”
“There’s an ice machine in the barn for ice packs and stuff.”
“You get the champagne, I’ll do the ice.” She said pushing herself up with a grunt.
He smiled watching her move, almost awkwardly, before turning to the house while she walked slowly into the barn.
She wasn’t at the table when he returned and neither were the pitchers so he walked over to the barn where he found the pitchers full of ice on a small table by the barn door and then heard her on the other side by the paddock. Following her voice he turned around the barn and found her engrossed in conversation with the three rescues she had never met. He stood there watching her and the horses who seemed very anxious to be close. The soft sing song pater of her voice a sweet memory for him, the miracle girl.
She turned and smiled “Oh hey, I saw them and figured I’d say hi. We should probably get them stalled and fed.”
“As soon as the guys get back we’ll get it done, you’re wearing a dress, come on.”
They returned to the table after Ty filled the cooler he carried out with ice as well, as a truck Amy did not know pulled up and an early 40’s woman stepped out and over. She had a welcoming smile and a pretty face.
Amy looked up and smiled, “you must be Kelsey, it’s good to meet you, I’m Amy Fleming, Mitch’s wife” she finished extending her hand.
“Kelsey Burton, good to meet you Amy,”
“Sit, relax, we’re waiting for Mitch and Matt to get back.”
“How far along are you if you don’t mind my asking.”
“Little over 5 months I guess, you have kids ?”
“Two, one about to start high school and one about to go to college. Mitch said this is your third, we never got to three before the arguing got too bad, we married way too young.”
They all turned as Mitch’s truck came onto the property, the large Cummins Diesel was not quiet as it pulled up.
Amy smiled when he got out the cab and opened the back door along with Matt repeating the act on the passenger side.
Ty walked off to grab the cooler he had put by the barn and offered beers to all. Amy poured a few waters on her side of the table as Kelsey helped with the food and Mitch and Matt led the horses into the barn.
Once laid out Kelsey examined the table.
“This is a lot of food you guys.” Kelsey said.
Mitch who had come out the barn wiping his hands on a paper towel glanced over at Amy who grinned and him and made a face “don’t you dare.” She said blushing.
“Still eats her weight ?” Ty asked seeing the exchange only to have a dinner roll thrown his way which he caught.
“Hey, what happened to civilized dinner ?” Ty said laughing before sitting down.
Dinner was long and drawn out. Kelsey and Ty talked about the practice, Matt had sheriff stories and Amy and Mitch talked about adventures of their own and their kids. Amy was surprised at the chemistry between Kelsey and Ty and the looks they passed to each other like old friends but maybe something more. Amy was past the age thing, her dad and Casey and Jack and Lisa proved that.  She was not surprised at all that Ty was friends with Kelsey’s kids or that Ty caught every baseball and hockey game her sons played, in and out of school. At one point during a lull in the eating Ty lifted the champagne so that Amy could see.
“Good a time as any.” She said reaching for clean cups and passing them over.
“Champagne, what are we celebrating ?” Mitch asked.
“Us” Amy said as Ty passed cups around after the big pop.
“Why us ?”
“Because sweetheart congratulations are generally tendered when one is told he’s about to become a father, Clint called before, we have a 9 year old foster son arriving Monday morning, Luke Kashani.”
“Luke Kashani, 9 years old, wow.” Mitch repeated.
“Congratulations you two, that’s wonderful” Kelsey announced raising her glass and tapping it to Mitch’s and then Amy’s iced tea that Mitch remembered to get. Soon they were onto 9 year old boy stories and Amy reached out to grab the platter of ribs and dropped them. Not hard but everyone turned to her as she reached for her side.
“Easy girl, mom’s just grabbing for some ribs.” She whispered and then seeing Mitch’s look took his hand as she had Ty’s and then kissed his palm, something she had not done to Ty before placing it on the spot.
“She’s really going at it.” He said smiling and then leaned forward to grab the ribs and bring them closer for Amy who smiled and kissed him before pushing a few onto her plate.
“What do they put in this Cole slaw, it’s always awesome and I can’t figure it out.” Kelsey asked putting some on her plate.
“It’s horseradish” Amy said after swallowing.
“Is this a pregnancy thing ?” Matt asked “heightened palate ?”
Amy shrugged trying to swallow her next bite before answering, “It’s years of studying herbs and alternate remedies. Single ingredients are easy usually unless the tastes are ambiguous like licorice and anise. Or I guess it could be the pregnancy thing” she finished looking up with a smile.
Kelsey was the first to leave, she had to get home to her teenagers. Mitch and Amy said goodbye as they wouldn’t be seeing her in the morning. Matt was game to leave as well, he had an early shift in the morning but promised to stop before they left which was planned for 9:00 AM. Ty helped clear away and helped Mitch with stowing the table and chairs while Amy split the food as Ty insisted they take enough for lunch on the way home. He promised he’s see them in the morning so goodnights were easy.
Later in the evening in the afterglow of their lovemaking Mitch had gone to get some cold water for Amy who settled herself into her current comfortable position, on her left side, pillow between her legs and her arm perched on her belly. Mitch lovingly held the glass out and helped her take a drink without moving much or spilling and then settled as usual behind her, his arm sliding under hers as he leaned forward to kiss her shoulder.
“You had a chance to catch up with Ty ?”
“I did, it was nice.”
“He Ok ?”
“You were a bit right I think, the could have beens but we had a good talk, it went well.”
“Seemed to from my perspective. How about you ? Could have beens ?”
“Not on your life Mitchell Cutty, I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone but you.”
“Good to hear and back at you Amy Fleming.”
Amy leaned back as far as she could to catch his lips with hers for a moment before returning to her spot.
In the morning Amy woke to the closing of a car door and a truck start. Peeking out the window she saw Ty’s truck drive off and wondered if he was just getting out without a proper goodbye. When she finally showered and dressed and headed outside with a cup of tea and her breakfast of muffins and clementines she found a note tucked into the trailer door. It said that he was called away for a calving that wasn’t going well but expected to be back by nine when they were scheduled to leave.
Matt arrived after Mitch got his coffee going and decided to wait with them while it perked and join Mitch for a cup. He wasn’t surprised to find Ty gone for an emergency, that was his job as long as Kelsey had kids to get off to school and he was fine with it.
Before he left Matt got a call from Ty and explained that he was almost done but rather than make Mitch and Amy wait he’d meet them for their goodbye as a scenic pull off about 5 miles down the road south, the direction they were heading anyway.
Matt helped them pack up and load the horses, made sure they knew where to go and watched and waved as Amy pulled out first followed by Mitch and the trailer.
They parked and leaned against the overlook fence when Mitch received a text that Ty was on the way. He joined them 10 minutes later full of apologies that they discounted as completed unwarranted and totally understood.
Mitch went first and shook Ty’s hand before a brief bro hug and then walked off to close the trailer that they had opened for the horses benefit.
Amy walked over to Ty and gently ran a finger gently across his brow to move his hair away from his eyes.
“I’d forgotten just how green they were.” She said dropping her hand and smiling.
“Back home ?”
“I have to tell them Ty but we’ll leave contact up to you.”
“Thanks.”
Amy heard the door trailer handle locked into place and took a step forward to reach around Ty for a hug before stepping back.
“Find yourself a woman who loses herself in those eyes Ty and then hold on.”
“I’ll try ?”
“She can be a little older you know.”
“She’s my boss Amy.”
“And soon to be your partner, think about it, you’re a good catch with a big heart Ty Borden, it’s time to stop running. Oh, and I was technically your boss for a while there.” Then she leaned forward and kissed each of his cheeks gently. “Don’t be a stranger, you’d make Grandpa’s day with a call.”
“I will.”
“Goodbye Ty, it’s nice knowing you’re doing well.”
He walked her to her truck as Mitch got into the cab of his and Ty helped Amy in and watched her settle and buckle up before closing her door.
“Bye Amy, It was great seeing you and meeting Mitch.”
Amy smiled and nodded as Ty stepped back and she shifted into drive and drove out followed by Mitch who smiled and waved.
A few miles down the road Amy smiled when the next song was announced and she switched on the truck to truck radio to have Mitch join in when she started singing.
Together, they were the perfect couple.
“Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye ……..”
The End.

“I’ll be yours until all the stars fall out of the sky.” with my angsty™ man frank
a/n; this got away from me a little so uh whoops
this is my safe house in the hurricane, this is where my love lays | ao3
There’s more blood that you really want to be dealing with. To be fair, in a perfect world, there would be no blood. None at all. In a marginally better world than this one, there would be less blood. But you’re in in this one. The real one. In this shitty, shitty, god awful real world, you’re watching far more blood than you know how to deal with pool on the floor as you try and clean Frank up so you can assess the damage. He’s sitting on the floor of your shower, eyes half closed as he leans back against the wall and you grab a bottle of rubbing alcohol and kiss his forehead apologetically before dumping half the bottle down his chest. His jaw clenches and you can feel the low growl in his throat as he suppresses a roar of fresh pain. His body tenses and you flinch slightly even as you press down hard on the wounds, putting as much pressure as you can, as much as you dare on the gauze keeping his blood in his body. You can feel his heartbeat under your palms and somehow, it’s almost steady.
“Hold this” you say, not even waiting for him to respond as you grab his hand and press it against the already red gauze, reaching for the small box you know holds the suture kit. Frank’s breathing is shallow and fast, and you feel your heartbeat match its rhythm and it’s some kind of miracle that your hands aren’t shaking as you carefully pull his hand and the gauze away from his skin. Fresh blood is still welling there and your stomach clenches and all you can think for a split second is ‘my first aid courses never prepared me for this’.
But they did, and you know they did because when you first realised you were in love with Frank, you signed yourself up for every different kind of civilian first aid qualification you could afford and the one on suturing open wounds was only seven or eight months ago, so you grit your teeth and push the needle through his skin. His breath hitches and then evens out again as you work fast, pulling the stitches as tight as you dare before tying off the suture and moving onto the next wound.
You lose track of how long you kneel in your shower with Frank, stitching his wounds, checking his pulse, making sure he’s still breathing. The bleeding has stopped, mostly. The stitches are bandaged. His probably broken wrist is set, despite his feeble protestations. He’s half asleep, half delirious on the painkillers and sleeping pills you all but shoved down his throat. He doesn’t take care of himself. He won’t. He tries not to let you do it either but right now he barely has the energy to keep his eyes open so there’s nothing he can do but let you take care of him. You’re sure he isn’t strong enough to stand on his own and you know he’s too big for you to lift him on your own, so you wash as much of the blood in the shower down the drain as you can without drenching the both of you. You’re not sure if Frank is awake or not as you stand up to find the blankets you bought specifically for nights like this and you wrap them around him and settle against his mostly uninjured side. He doesn’t try and tell you to go sleep in the bed instead of sitting with him, and that almost worries you more than the injuries he limped in with. His skin is cooler than normal, and you reach reflexively for his hands, tucking them under the edges of the blankets, but when you go to pull away, he catches yours in both of his. His voice is barely more than a hoarse whisper as he murmurs, “m’keepin’ this.”
A small smile tugs at your lips as you lean your head gingerly on his shoulder and you carefully lace your fingers with his and you say softly, “you should be asleep.”
Frank barely moves-doesn’t have the energy to do much more than breathe and speak right now-but you feel the faintest twitch of his muscles in an imitation of a shrug and he says, “so should you.”
Your nose brushes his jaw lightly as you tilt your head towards him and you say, “I’ll sleep when I know you’re not about to die on me,” the faintest note of reproach, of frustration entering your voice. You know he’s not going to die tonight-or at least, you’re about as sure as you can be-and now that you’re sure, you’re allowed to be upset about all the reckless things he does to himself. You knew this was part of the deal with him. You’d have to be okay with this if you wanted to keep him in your life, and you are okay with it. Mostly. But it’s hard to keep the fear of losing him at bay especially on nights like this.
His breath comes out in a rush as he sighs and says, “not gonna die. I’m fine. S’fine. You should rest.”
You watch his chest rise and fall and your own chest feels tight as you whisper “you know I’m not going anywhere till I know you’re okay. Try and sleep, Frank.” You try not to make any grand, impromptu declarations of love or affection or concern in this relationship, especially when it’s hardest for you to keep them in. He doesn’t respond well to admissions of that sort. You know he doesn’t think he deserves the kind of softness you want to give him. You know it can shut him down and make him close himself off from you, so you try and keep it to yourself. The feelings are still there, though. Burning strong, and warm, and constant, even if you rarely verbalise them.
Frank sighs again, still holding your hand in both of his, thumb stroking idly over your knuckle. He doesn’t say anything, so you settle against him and just sit as you listen to his breathing. The shower tile is cold against your back despite the blanket and you can feel the water and blood on the tiles soaking through your sweatpants and even though the bed would be far more comfortable than this, you’d never even think of leaving his side.
Hours pass, and you drift in and out of a dreamless, restless sleep as Frank sags against you, his head falling against your shoulder, hands still intertwined with yours, tucked under the blankets you wrapped around him. His skin is warmer now, his breathing more even, and you brush a soft kiss against the crown of his head before letting your eyes slip shut, feeling sleep start to overtake you.
You’re drifting halfway between dreams and waking when you hear Frank’s low rough whisper, scarcely louder than the sound of his breathing. “Should’ve found another man, baby.” His voice is heartbreakingly tender, and you know the sadness in his voice is for you-for the nights like this when you keep him alive and then sit with him for hours, when all he can think when you look at him for the next week is that you should never have had to learn what your hands looked like covered in blood.
Lifting your head from his shoulder, you feel his hands tense slightly around yours as you tilt your head to look at him, your free hand going to cup his cheek gently, forcing him to look back at you as you say softly, “don’t talk like that, Frank. Don’t want anyone but you.”
He arches an eyebrow and his shoulders shift slightly in an approximation of a shrug as he says “m’no good for you. You shouldn’t have to do-to do all this shit. Should be with someone normal.”
Part of you observes that he’s clearly not going to die if he has enough energy to start this tired argument with you, but you can’t even catch the relief that remark carries. Your heart is too heavy, too weighed down with the years of self-sacrifice you can see in Frank’s eyes. Your thumb strokes lightly along his cheekbone, your touch feather light over the bruises and you whisper “don’t. Please. Don’t talk like that. I don’t want anyone else. I’ll be yours until all the stars fall out of the sky, Frank Castle. What do I have to do to make you see that.”
His forehead falls against yours and he sighs and murmurs, “go to bed, baby” and you almost laugh because the man really never gives up. Tilting your head to brush your lips against his, you squeeze his hand gently.
“You think you can stand?”
Frank huffs out what might almost be considered a laugh and says, “does it matter?”
You roll your eyes and rise to your feet, careful not to jostle his injuries as you say, “take my hands,” ignoring his question. The corner of his mouth can’t help but quirk up in a tired, lopsided smile as he holds his hands out to you, using a combination of your grip and the shower wall and sheer determination to rise unsteadily to his feet. You drape his arm over your shoulders, letting him lean most of his weight on you.
He lets out that soft almost laugh again and his voice is fond as he says, “I can look after myself” and that almost makes you laugh because since when has Frank ever taken care of himself.
Limping him to the bed makes your knees feel like they’re about to give way because he’s built like a tank and weighs about as much but he lets you help him sit down on the edge of the mattress. You find him some dry sweatpants and a hoodie, and he just watches as you get him a glass of water and he’s too tired to do anything but let you look after him. He was too close to death too recently to try not to be grateful for this tenderness because even if he doesn’t deserve it, it feels good to be taken care of. To be touched like he matters to someone.
You leave him to put on the dry, clean clothes as you find the biggest bottle in the apartment and fill it with water for him to drink and when you go back to the bedroom, he’s lying down against the pillows, half asleep already, watching you through hazy eyes. You set the bottle down on the nightstand and find your own dry sweatpants to pull on and the weight of his gaze on you is warm and familiar and comfortable.
He lets out a soft hum of contentment as you settle down in the bed beside him and he extends an arm, mumbling “come closer.”
A soft smile tugs at your lips as you move in close to him, careful not to put pressure on his injuries as you lean your head on his shoulder and he wraps his arm around you. His skin is warm against yours, his heartbeat steady and his breathing even. The bandages are still white where they cover his torso and sharing space with him like this feels like home. His lips press against your forehead and your eyes shut slowly as you melt into him.
He can smell your shampoo and your hand is flattened on his chest, resting over his heart, and he wants to tell you that he loves you, wants to say thank you for all the nights you’ve done this for him, wants to tell you what you mean to him. But the words stick in his throat, and he can tell you’re already asleep, and he’s spent so long cutting any kind of warmth out of his life that he thinks if he tried to say ‘I love you’ all that would come out would be ‘I’m sorry’ and he knows that isn’t a good enough sentiment to wake you with, so he keeps his words to himself, just kissing your forehead again and letting his own eyes close as he falls asleep to the sound of your breathing and the passing of cars in the street below.

youtuber!felix
only 2 more left after this
im sad
also,,, warning,, a bit of swearing in this oneeee
Chan | Woojin | Minho | Changbin | Hyunjin | Jisung | FELIX | Seungmin | Jeongin
without further ado
lee yongbok felix!!!!!!!!!! idk a yongbok
ok so felix totally watches buzzfeed unsolved
im sorry i was watching that b4 writing this
and he unironically quotes the guys on there
refers to the rest of the sk guys as demons bc he’s always saying “hey demons, it’s me… ya boi” #GottaLoveShane’sSkepticAss
does a lot of research into the haunted/ paranormal stuff and has dragged hyunjin on his hunt for haunted places
kinda hard to find some places bc they’re barricaded and he doesn’t wanna break the law by breaking in :’))
plus his parents would probably not let him stay overnight at a haunted place
but he tries his best to go during the day to, like, a haunted house or something
along with being a supernatural fanatic
he makes videos on conspiracy theories
all. the. time.
deffo the type to cover his laptop/ desktop camera bc the government are watching lmfao i do this too
also deffo believes in shit like the illuminati and men in black i doooo
in some of his videos you can see his room
he’s sooo got pictures, newspaper articles and shiz like that on his wall
and the typical red string tying different pictures and articles together
he’s,,,, really,,,,,, into this kinda stuff
alongside that
he’s obviously into memes
so in his videos he’ll have trashy Comic Sans comments
y’know how WillNE used to have in his videos? like that.
is also really into those theories relating the disney princesses together bc damn those are actually cool
[cyanide voice] DID YOU KNOW… elsa & anna’s parents are also tarzan’s parents????? [just a theory bUT IT MAKES SENSE OKAY]
y’know those parkour videos i keep mentioning
bringing it back real quick
one time felix was skateboarding by some lil’ lake
and he tried doing a trick but he almost fell in
and he let out the most girly scream ever and changbin was dYING
thankfully he didn’t fall in,,,,
but then he tried it again and he fell half in and changbin lost it. he. could. not. stop. laughing.
felix was just like “bro <\3″
even jisung was laughing,,, he almost dropped the camera,,, but luckily he didn’t and he managed to get felix’s scream recorded
felix actually wasn’t too mad about that
he made a meme out of it?? like why???
y’know that one meme that uses Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars as background music [the song fyi - if you dont know what im talking about; use earplugs & low volume!!! there is swearing after the 1st so watch out]
and he managed to cut a picture (of himself) from jisung’s video as he was falling
and he moves it so he’s falling through loads of different things and ends up falling through space that escalated quickly
that was a crappy explanation but watch that video and you should understand
so yeah
he’s a bit crazy :)
it’s ok tho bc he’s funny
he also does vlogs
you can imagine how active and crazy he is in those
& he’s literally always screaming in those
someone get him to chill pls
he and chan will speak english and use australian slang in the vlogs
and 1) comments overflow with how cool they sound
but 2) the other guys just go ughhhhh and start speaking korean really fast so they cant understand - or, well, felix mainly, can’t understand
or c) they’ll chat shit about chan and felix slowly so they understand and are like hey ://
it’s all banter dw
he watched jisung’s make-up w/ my minho thing right
and tried doing that too
but with changbin
obviously he didn’t tell changbin what he was gonna do
but when changbin got there
and felix got him to sit at the table rather than where his game console was he was suspicious
when felix came out of his room with make-up
you bet your butt changbin got outta that chair and ran
felix was just like “wow… i got jisung’s make-up and everything and he up and left :(((”
that didn’t stop him tho lmao
he had already set up a camera to record in that room
so he just got that camera, put it on the table
and recorded himself doing his own make-up
it was going decently until he got the eyeliner
and started doing it around his eyes
and then he found inspiration in Big Daddy’s (from Kick Ass) eye make-up [fyi]
yeah after that he kinda just fcked up his own face
but he was so proud of it
bless
he took a pic of himself and sent it to the sk group chat like “this is what you missed out on, binnie”
changbin: so not much then, yh?
felix: im breaking up w/ u
changbin: finally
as revenge for that bad changlix break-up
he gathered the ‘00 line [SQUAD ROLL OUTTTTTTT]
and they planned to get revenge on changbin
so on a saturday when they knew changbin was gonna be sleeping till like midday
(because he was up all night gaming the idiot)
they came to his house early
and got the make-up kit ready lmfao
seungmin held the camera
whilst hyunjin blended like 5 different shades of lipstick
jisung put concealer, blush and bronzer on him (God knows how some ended up in his hair but whatever)
and felix did the eyeshadow and eyeliner
just to feel a little rebellious
jisung let seungmin do the highlight
omg bad boy!seugming im deadddd
but then jisung accidentally sneezed and everyone was like SHIT and froze
they waited like 5 seconds until they heard changbin mumble “what the fuck…”
and then his eyes opened
and he was like “what the hell are you guys doing here?”
and hyunjin just smilled, discreetly hiding the lipstick he was currently holding behind his back
“ah,, we just came over to wake you up!!”
changbin was having none of that shit and he was like
changbin: “why is seungmin holding a camera then?? and jisung’s literally got something in his hand”
changbin: “jisung,,,,, is that… make-up?? you fcking did not”
felix: “RUN!!!!!!!!”
seungmin managed to get a clear shot of changbin’s pissed off face before they goT THE HELL OUTTA THEREEEEEEE
changbin flew straight up and chased them
but unfortunately they got outta the house just in time
and he wasn’t about to dash out of his house in his pj’s
imagine if seungmin had forgotten to actually start the video holy shittt lmfao
he remembered dw
anyways they got back to felix’s house and he immediately started editing the video
he managed to get a picture of changbin’s final pissed off face before they ran
he sent that to the group chat
and all the guys made that their youtube profile pictures it was HILARIOUS
whilst i’m on the topic of ‘00 line
they have killer gaming matches
and felix lives to troll people
he doesn’t limit himself to just annoying the other ‘00 guys
nah that’s too basic
he’ll troll anyone on his team
he’s blocked so many people from getting through doors
or blocked them in one corner
and he can sometimes hear them swearing and shouting to move the fck away dude!!!
and he deadass just laughs over the mic
he’s gotten a lot of people killed that way
(including himself lmao)
he still somehow managed to not be last on the scoreboard??
he plays really well actually
but he never misses an opportunity to troll
he gets a lot of hate messages from people online like “dude wtf why’d you do that”
and he’s just like “y not bro <3″
so yeah
although he loves trolling and annoying as many people as he can
he loves the sk guys
and he’d do anything for them
he can get real cheesy at times
making edits of them all dramatically falling in love with him
like he cut a clip of woojin saying “i love merigues!” and “felix keeps messaging me, should i just block him” from his cooking videos
and merged them to get “i love felix!”
and then he played that behind a clip of woojin just talking into the camera so it looked realistic enough
and he sent that to the group chat like “changbin wHO? i only know a kim woojin <3 love you bby <3″
everyone knows he edited that but they still mock woojin anyway
and changbin literally just said “good luck with him woojin, he’s insane”
back to the sentimental ending:
he loves the guys & they love his annoying ass too
knows that even tho he annoys them to the extreme a lot
he can trust them and they’ll help him with whatever
they’re like his home away from home and he loves it so much
his desktop picture is a rlly cute pic of them all together, completely unedited and unfelixified
he loves it
whoa that was long. 2?? updates in a day?? damn im on a roll :))
i got a coupla requests for boyfriend texts w/ some stray kids members
like damn after this,,, a,,, bf stray kids thing??? idkkkkkk ?????????? so many series, so little timeeee
anyways thanks 4 reading :) <3

post lord of shadows thoughts and predictions
okay time to round up all this shit in one post. this is still all over the place though sorry, it’s in no order just writing shit down as it comes to me. this is going to be super long and spoilery so it’s under a read more
1. I enjoyed Lord of Shadows much more than Lady Midnight. LM was good but it felt very bogged down in character and plot introduction, not its fault it had a lot to introduce lmao. Wasn’t super excited to read los after lm cause it wasn’t that memorable, but now I’m dying for Queen of Air and Darkness. 2. Since LM was (I’m pretty sure been a while) told exclusively through the older kids povs, ty and livvy felt super young despite only be 2 years younger than Julian and Emma, but they really felt like teenagers who are just tired of being treated and seen as children in this one. 3. Um I really feel for Malcolm. Like a lot. Listen I know he went a little of the deep end there, but no one could argue against that he loves Annabel more than anything. All the diary entries and the house he built for them honestly kill me. I really don’t believe he left her alone on purpose which makes me sad because Annabel died believing he betrayed her and that was one of the reasons she killed him. I’m excited to see him before he knew the truth about Annabel in TLH. 4. Speaking of Annabel holy shit. Something is definitely not right with her. I like how powerful she is and she was pretty endearing at the end, she actually kind’ve reminds me of cecily. also I’m dying cause I just remembered while writing this that everyone thought that Livvy looked alike Annabel kill me. I definitely didn’t think she meant to do what she did at the end, obvs an explanation is not an excuse 😏, but she lashes out and then gets scared. she seems to regret killing livvy the moment after it happens and I’m interested to see how this affects her. 5. So I guess with no inquisitor that exile thing is not gonna work. but I still believe that cortana will have something to do with breaking the parabatai bond…it can cut through anything after all. 6. Speaking of cutting through anything EMMA FUCKING BROKE THE MORTAL SWORD. LIKE THAT CAN NOT BE GOOD AT ALL. AND WHAT WAS THAT BLACK SHIT INSIDE OF IT??? 7. I’m scared what Livvy’s death is going to do to Julian because the guy has really been slipping down the mental health slope for a while now. not gonna lie, Julian was TERRIFYING in this book. he really doesn’t give a shit about anyone that isn’t Emma or family. also the red flag for me was when him and Emma were arguing and he smashed that glass, like that is not a good way to take out your anger, but I mean Emma immediately puts a hole in the wall so they’re both not the best examples for how to act in a healthy relationship. also, despite what he told Emma, he seems to be absolutely fine with breaking every other parabatai bond just to be with Emma. listen I love Julian but he seems to be slipping a lil into antagonist territory. 8. Not that Emma wasn’t cutthroat either. she didn’t even consider mercy when it came to Annabel, she was gonna slice right through her, u know until the unseelie king spirited her away. 9. Kit and Ty were adorable. also has it been confirmed that they’re the Wicked Power protagonists? because if not I’m p sure they are. 10. I was so happy to be back at the London Institute. I loved all the little tid and tlh hints everywhere (jem and will’s height charts 😭😭😭) um so Bridget is still super alive somehow uuuuhh?? how??? jessamine is a darling brat as usual. love her. also that line where Magnus said they weren’t the first to think to burn down the blackthorn manor?? tlh reference maybe? 11. while Mark/Emma will always hold a place in my heart I really warmed up to Emma/Julian and Mark/Cristina/Kieran. btw I really feel like that’s gonna end in polyamory, I think cc has been wanting to write and actual poly relationship ( I love herongraystairs but I don’t think it technically counts going by only canon) for a while now, and while only Mark/Cristina and Mark/Kieran were introduced in lm, Cristina and Kieran def gotta a lot closer in this book and seemed to have a lot of romantic tension. anyway new ot3. 12. if u know anything about me u know I’M A SLUT FOR JEM AND TESSA. anytime they were mentioned I started breathing heavy. still sad they didn’t actually appear in this one, but it seems set up for them to appear in the final one speaking of… 13. listen I love Magnus and I want no harm to come to him but TESSA IS SICK I CANT DEAL WITH THIS. LIKE CAN HER AND JEM JUST BE HAPPY AND HEALTHY WITHOUT SOME INCURABLE ILLNESS HANGING OVER THEM. and like what other warlocks have been affected??? IS CATARINA OKAY? 14. y'all that guy with green skin has gotta be ragnor there is not doubt in my mind. cc has always regretted killing him and I’ve been waiting for this tree colored man to return for a while now. I want to know why he’s in hiding tho and he like bolted when Magnus showed up on the scene. 15. EY YO FUCK THE COHORT AND FUCK ZARA. at first I thought they were a little too cartoony of villains, like there was no complexity to them, they just seem like straight up douche nozzles all the time, but then I remembered that they’re based off real issues right now and people really do think like this sooo. but like Zara is absolutely the worst, how dare and her awful buddies talk shit to my children. everytime anything came out of her mouth I was like-LETS GO. OUTISDE. RIGHT NOW. TRIAL BY COMBAT, YOU LYING SNAKE. 16. I really loved the seelie and unseelie courts and their differences. like I agree cc is a little long winded, but her writing has greatly improved since CoB and it really showed in this one for me. I like the unseelie king and I hope we get to see more of him in the next book, and maybe more of Kieran’s brothers, wouldn’t want to let all those cute faerie boys go to waste. 17. as much as I hate to say it, I’m p sure that the seelie court member that was stolen by the unseelie was Sebastian’s and the seelie queen’s kid. LIKE I HOPE IM SO WRONG AND THAT THAT FUCKING KID DOESNT EXIST BUT ALL SIGNS SEEM TO BE POINTING TO HELL CHILD. 18. speaking of Sebastian, the way cc was talking about him before los came out, I was really expecting something big about him to happen, like his ghost (or demon seed ugh) he was barely even mentioned except closer to the end there. 19. oh yeah I can’t believe Clary’s dead???? like I’ve never been a big fan of clary or jace but the way she talked about like she’s already accepted it killed me. like if this happens it’s going to ruin jace. 20. I’ve become very endeared to Dru throughout los, I think she’s my fav blackthorn besides Julian. she’s chubby which is fucking GREAT and tho the whole pretend I’m not 13 thing with Jaime made me a lil uncomfy, he didn’t really flirt with her or anything and their friendship was really cute. it seems to me cc is setting her up with that Ash kid that appeared for 2 seconds. YO @emmascxrstairs JUST ROCKED MY WHOLE WORLD AND SAID THAT ASH IS THE DEMON SPAWN AND IM MAD BECAUSE OF COURSE HE IS LMAO FLEW RIGHT PAST ME. 21. that’s one thing that kills me with cc books, is that other than the main romances it’s usually super easy to tell who ends with who, and that she feels the need to pair EVERYONE OFF. lmao I was actually wondering why a love interest hadn’t been introduced for Livvy yet (Kit doesn’t count cause after that first kiss, it was real obvs him and ty were gonna be the thing) and then she died and I was like…oh…that’s why. 22. like many predicted, Diana is trans and im crying she’s amazing. her and Gwyn caught me off guard but I’m not gonna lie, they’re really cute. 23. also omg I just thought with livvy dying, what if Julian blames it on himself and the parabatai curse kill me. 24.so yeah all in all 👌👌👌 very good would recommend. now time to get fucking pumped for the last hours

Westfalia
Of course this dusty van would break down in the desert. I knew I shouldn’t have left my Student Quarters in Murfeesboro- never should have gone back home on my break. We puttered to a sad stop right smack dab in the middle of Arizona on Highway 179, nothing but dry dirt for miles.
“Dang it,” Dad shouted, “flat tire.”
He put the van in park and hopped out to check out the damage. The rest of us stayed in the van. Mom looked at us like she was about to strangle Dad for insisting we take the long way through Sedona.
This trip was supposed to be our Christmas family vacation- a five-hundred-mile drive from Palm Springs to the Grand Canyon. Even once you hit Sedona there’s another hundred miles of tumbleweed until you get to the canyon. It’s not even Christmas. Heck, it’s not even December yet. Mom and Dad insisted we have a November Christmas so that my brother and his girlfriend could come. He has to spend Christmas with Alice’s family since they’re spending Thanksgiving with us. Apparently once you graduate from college you’re thrust into a world in which you have to do your own taxes and worry about scheduling holidays. I crawled out of the seat and it felt like my butt was falling off, three hundred miles in an old Volkswagen van seat was rough. I looked down at the deflated tire. Dad let out a sigh.
“Lou, run in and grab the tire patch kit, please,” Dad asked.
I climbed up the steps and into the van. Mom was sitting in the front passenger seat.
“What did he say?” Mom looked up over her glasses. The wall sized map of the U.S. crinkled.
“I told him this thing wouldn’t make it five hundred miles,” I grumbled.
“Well honey you know how he is. Everything has to be just right and this was what he wanted.” Mom went back to reading the map.
This is just as much Dad’s attempt to recreate his glory days as it is a family trip. Dads used to travel all over the country in a van just like this when he was in college. Volkswagen Westfalia- “Global pinnacle of automotive freedom.” Cheap weed and cheap gas and easy fixing. It might break down but you can fix it with chewing gum and zip tie. Modern cars you gotta call a mechanic and hook a fancy computer up to it. I’ve heard it a million times.
I grabbed the tire patch kit from the emergency basket he carefully packed a week before the trip and went back outside. Nico was standing beside Dad who was still crouched beside the flat tire.            “You don’t think it’s too far gone for a patch?” Nico asked as I passed the kit to Dad.            “I want to save the spare tire just in case this happens again on the way home. You never know.” Dad ran his hands over the tire as if he could magically find the leak.
“Stan, come on, just use the spare, I want to make it to Sedona before the sun goes down. We’re wasting time.” I heard Mom’s voice and looked up at the window slats where she was peering down at us. “You’re not going to find the leak Stan, just use the spare and we can find another tire when we get there.”
That was her final word on the matter and we all knew it. Dad went to the front of the van and took the spare tire off. He rolled it over to the flat one.
“No-go. This thing is dry rotted,” said Dad. He puzzled over it a few Moments and before Mom could get more stressed out he spoke up.
“Hey Nico- I think the service station we passed has tires…take your sister with you and see if you can find one that’ll work. Your Mom and I will stay here with the van,” Dad said, “take the rim with you.”
Nico grabbed the rim but he didn’t look too confident in his grip.
“You got it?” Dad asked. “Yeah, yeah I got it.” Nico brushed it off. “I’ll come with you!” Alice also said, peaking down at us from the window slats.
Great, pretty little Alice is coming. I didn’t dislike Alice, she was just…. Alice.
I think the service station was like half a mile away. A half a mile too far to walk if you ask me. “What was it called again?” I asked Dad.            “I think it was The Village of Oak Creek,” Nico piped up.
“Well, let’s go,” I went in and grabbed my jacket and headed for the highway.
Alice and Nico followed behind me, holding hands.
“Be careful!” Mom shouted after us. I waved my hand at her without looking back.            “So Lou, your brother tells me you’re transferring colleges?” Alice said in her sweet, well-meaning voice.            “Yep.”
“That’s exciting! Where are you planning on going to?” She kept at it.
           “Not sure yet.”
“I think Lou just wants to make sure it’s the right place, right Lou?” Nico said. I can’t believe my brother actually just helped me out there. Switching schools was a touchy subject. I couldn’t stay in stay in small town North Carolina anymore but I didn’t know what I would do once I moved back to Cali. I’d figure it out soon enough. The next few minutes were silent. I’m not sure if it was awkwardness or if we were all just taking in the scenery. I think it was both.
I saw where Alice nudged Nico in the corner of my eye.            “Tell her, Nico, go on,” said Alice.
“Actually, Lou, I’m glad we have some alone time. There’s something I gotta tell you,” said Nico. Alice looked nervous. “Alice and I are getting married.”
My brain just kind of stopped. I didn’t know what to say.
“So, what do you think? I’m gonna tell Mom and Dad when we get to the Grand Canyon.”
I thought this was a dumb idea.
“That’s great…” I tried to be happy.            “See! I told you she would be happy for us.” Alice smiled and swung their clasped hands and Nico struggled to hold onto the rim with the other hand. I felt sick.
--
The new tire was on and we were back on the road, full speed ahead to Sedona, red rock city or whatever. Nico thought he was strong enough to carry a tire the whole way back, but we ended up taking turns rolling it down the road. I’m sure we looked ridiculous, scrawny little Nico and two girls struggling with a rubber tire. He picked it up as soon as we got close to the van though. Show off.
“Hey Alice, have you been to the Grand Canyon before?” Mom turned around in her seat to look at Alice.
“No ma’am I haven’t. My parents talked about it before, and I almost went on a school trip one time, but it never happened.”
Alice’s voice was drowned out while I stared at her. She was gorgeous. Of course, Nico would go off to school and snag the perfect girl. I looked at Alice’s breasts. Boobs? I never knew what I was supposed to call them. They were perfectly proportioned, the right size and everything. I looked down at my own chest. Were they that perky? I self-consciously slipped my hand underneath my shirt. They were…normal? A bit smaller than Alice’s, but I’d like to think they’re still nice. Alice turned her head and looked at me. I dropped my hand and stopped groping myself and Alice just saw. She smiled at me and I felt guilty.
The steady thrumming of the tires against the asphalt was soothing at first, but now it just made me impatient.
I had to admit, it was pretty exhilarating to see all these colors. Sedona was just saturated in red and orange. The amber of the rock up against the blue sky in the cool air was like we were driving into a movie. We were actually doing this. I guess this road trip could be worse. Mom and Dad started talking in the front seat and I looked over at Nico and Alice and they were in a serious discussion about buying season football tickets. I sat in silence looking between Mom and Dad and Nico and Alice. They looked eerily similar. When did Nico start looking like Dad?
--
We stopped at the Cave Springs campground for the night because Dad insisted we had to see the sunrise in Sedona. Dad and Nico started a fire and Mom unpacked our camping supplies. It was getting dark and the sun was just about to slip behind the skyline. Alice and I were left alone by the van. I stuck my hands in my pocket and pretended to be cool. She made me nervous and I didn’t know why. I mean, yeah, I was still a little pissed off they ruined Christmas but she didn’t know she was messing everything up. I couldn’t pin down my anger, but I knew I didn’t like anything to do with their engagement. Christmas was always Mom and Dad and Nico and I having a small but perfect day at our house on Christmas day. Now they wanna get married and all of a sudden his allegiance is with her. What gives?
“Alright, Nico help me set up the fire while your Mom gets the stuff out,” Dad said.
“I think I’m gonna get out of these jeans and put some sweatpants on,” I said to no one in particular.            “Oh good idea, me too,” said Alice.
Alice and I stepped inside the van to change clothes and my heart was beating fast. Maybe if I angle myself away she won’t see my fat. My thoughts abruptly stopped as Alice whipped her shirt off like it wasn’t forty degrees out here and I couldn’t think straight. She pulled a long sleeved Henley over her head and it looked like the softest shirt. I wish I could feel it.            “Hey do you have a sweatshirt I could borrow? Mine is dirty and I only have outdoor jackets. That would suck to sleep in.” Alice looked at me and I tried to mold my face into something resembling calm and normal.            “Sure.” I handed her my favorite one.            “Thanks!” She slipped it on and her hair got all frizzy. She ran her hand over her head trying to get it to go down. She took her ponytail out, flipped her head over and gathered her hair to start over.  I took this as my chance to change. I threw my pajamas on as quickly as I could before she turned around. She flipped back up and finished tying the hair band with her arms above her head. I looked down at her small waist and let out a small whimper.
“C’mon, let’s go before your brother eats all the s’mores!”
I followed her out of the van. Mom had everything laid out and Dad was teaching Nico about the difference between black bears and brown bears. Alice left me and went straight for Nico. She sat in his lap instead of the chair beside him and I looked away. I went to sit next to Mom who was unpacking the marshmallows.
“Hey baby, you want a s’more?” Mom popped open the back and held it out to me.
“Sure,” I took a marshmallow from the bag and picked up the coat hanger Dad had bent into the fire poker shape. I slid the marshmallow onto the end of the metal and walked over to the fire. Alice was leaned back into Nico’s arms and smiling. I looked back at the fire. I heard Dad still going on about bears and tuned him back out. I focused on the crackle of the fire and as I got closer to the fire I felt my face heat up. I didn’t stop until I got close to the flames, seeing just how long I could go until I had to turn my face away. The cool air soothed my skin but I turned right back to the flames to watch my marshmallow turn black.
--
We got up well before daylight and headed out on Highway 180 to the Grand Canyon. None of us really slept much anyway. The fire went out in the early hours of the morning and it was too cold to sleep. We had been on the road for a good ninety miles when the sun just started coming up over the red rocks. The air was still bitter cold. The van didn’t offer much warmth; it was just a cold tin breadbox right then. The poor heater could only do so much. I looked over at Alice. Her nose was pink and her eyes were glued to the skyline. She was beautiful. I wiped my nose with a used tissue I found in my pocket. My nose was not the same pretty kind of pink; it was the “wow who rolled you out of your sleeping bag at the ass crack of dawn in thirty-degree weather?” kind of pink. Mom handed Dad a CD and he put it in the player.            “Alice, did Nico tell you who he and Lou were named after?” Dad said straining to turn around and talk to Alice. I wish he would just keep his eyes on the road. I knew exactly what they were about to play. Oh good lord, we’ve heard this a million times.
“C’mon Dad, we’ve all heard this before,” Nico echoed my thoughts.
“Hey now, you guys were named after musical geniuses Lou Reed and Warhol superstar Nico, that’s not something to be ashamed of!” Dad interjected and we all let him have his Moment. He and Mom held hands. The song Sunday Morning filled the car, and I hate to admit it, but it completely changed the air in the car.
Sunday mornin’, praise the dawnin’, It’s just a restless feelin’, by my side, Early dawnin’, Sunday mornin’, It’s just the wasted years so close behind. Watch out, the world’s behind you.
We all hummed along and sat taking in the sunrise against the backdrop of the red rock. We were the only car on the road. We sat at Communion, drinking in the colors and feeling peaceful solitude in each other’s company. Nico and Alice cuddled up in the seat next to me and I leaned up against the window looking out. Lou Reed played and it was enough.
--
Once we reached the Grand Canyon we crawled out of the van and stretched. My joints were popping and my legs got all tingly. The hundred and ten-mile drive from Cave Springs to here felt relatively short compared to the drive to Sedona. It felt like we made record timing.            “Alright!” Dad shouted, “let’s do this!”
None of us got any sleep, we were all too hyped up on adrenaline to be tired. Mom bent down and retied her shoelace and Nico threw his backpack on. I zipped my jacket up and looked at Alice. She was ready to go, gracefully standing there watching us in her ponytail and red scarf.
“C’mon, let’s go check out this trail, I heard it was easy,” Alice pulled on my arm and I looked down at her hand as I let her take me, “we’ll let the mountaineers try the hiking trail.” She winked at me. I didn’t know what she meant by that but I was going with it.            “We’ll meet back here in time for lunch? Say 1:00?” Mom checked her watch.
We set off in the opposite direction and I wondered what in the world I was getting myself into. Two hours alone with Alice would break me. Oh god what if she brings up what happened in the van? It was quiet while we stepped onto the dirt trail. Alice was taking in the sights and I was watching Alice, wondering what was going on in my head.
“Sorry I just kind of pulled you away from them,” Alice said.            “No, it’s okay. I’m kind of sick of them anyway,” I joked.
Alice giggled and took a picture of a twisted Juniper tree we passed. “He’s probably telling them right now. God, I’m so nervous. I feel like I should be there with him but he said he’d rather tell them himself.”            “Huh?”            “About our engagement,” Alice said totally oblivious to the mixed feelings I had.
“Oh.” I kicked the dirt and watched it swirl at my feet. We walked passed a large cactus plant and my eyes lingered on the long spikes. I remembered learning about them in school and how they had spines to keep animals from eating them.            “So, Lou, do you have any hobbies?”
I thought about the sports I didn’t play and the paintings I left half-finished in the back of my closet. “I uh, play guitar a bit.”
I rubbed the rough calluses on my fingers and wondered what her favorite song was. Nico and I used to pretend we were in a band when we were younger. He always made me sing because he said that I had the “it factor,” but it was really because he didn’t want me touching his guitar.            “That’s so cool! Did Nico teach you?”            “No actually, I taught myself. Nico was already going off to college when I started to play. I’m really not that good.”            “I bet you are,” Alice said.
I appreciated her trying. Nico could do a lot worse than Alice and I guess if I’m stuck with someone joining the family for the rest of my life, Alice would be a pretty good deal. At least she seemed to like me. Nico’s last girlfriend never said two words to me, just weird half-smiles when she came over. Alice seemed to be trying.            “Do you have a boyfriend?” Oh no, this was starting to feel like Thanksgiving at Aunt Kathy’s house.            “Oh no, definitely not,” I replied.
“I’m sure you’re find a great guy. You’re a catch!” Alice smiled her toothy smile at me and it made me wish I had that same confidence.
I didn’t know what to say to that so I just kept walking. We followed the trail for a while and stopped at every strange tree and weirdly shaped cactus along the way. Alice wanted a picture of us at each. I smiled wider at each one. She kept making silly faces and poking me right before she hit the button. Somewhere along the way we stopped and she lent me a Band-Aid for my blister.
I slowed way down as we reached the edge of the canyon. Alice was actually in the middle of telling me about wedding plans when she stopped mid-sentence and we both just dropped our bags and looked out over the canyon. This was much more than I ever thought it would be. The sky was clear blue and the sun shone down on the layers of rock. Miles of air stretched out before us and I felt my heart drop at the immediate realization of how far down the bottom was. I had never felt smaller and I had never felt bigger.
